Part 4 of Bad Sans Gang x The Lion King!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I will make only 1 more screenshot and maybe a DTIYS as a nice finale, it’s been really fun drawing these but I need to draw something else.
I noticed that I gained a lot new followers because of the undertale-related posts, I am sorry to disappoint but my account is not UTMV centric, I post a lot of furry art and only started posting about undertale recently. I love undertale and will post more about it but probably I will talk a lot more about furry stuff. Still, thank you all for all the notes and nice comments, I hope you can still enjoy my drawings even if they are not undertale related!

You always leave your cool headcanons in the tags! If you're up to it, do you have some for Simon and Betty your up for sharing? I'd love to hear them 🥺
lol sorry ha ha! I like whispering in the tags a lot lmao. And sure! I don't think I ever really gave headcanons on these two disasters but I have a ton so buckle up, and thanks for the ask. ^^
Betty
She was born to Russian Jewish first-gen immigrants somewhere in New England. They were medical doctors by trade, running a practice together and everything. She is an only child. Her parents worked a lot so she was often alone at home when she got old enough.
Due to relative solitude at home, Betty became an avid reader and allowed it to occupy her time when she was lonely. She has a particular penchant for mystery novels that persisted into adulthood. Her general love of the unknown led her into being interested in real world mysteries.
Her birthday is April 11, 1966 - making her an elder Gen X and an Aries.
Has always been very smart, especially in regards to mathematics and has a minor in it. It's definitely her forte, if not made obvious by Temple of Mars.
She is bipolar II and has learned to manage it well over years, as long as no major stressors enter her life she is pretty good to go [crying cat giving thumbs up image]
Loves plants and mushrooms! She's especially fond of succulents. Very adept at fungi identification and foraging properly.
When she's not deep into her work, she likes taking nature hikes either on foot or on her bike. She's always loved the outdoors.
Betty loves all genres of music, but is particularly partial to Depeche Mode and Journey.
She also loves all animals, but really enjoys alligators and crocodilians. The first time she went down South and saw an American Alligator just casually hanging out near a river, she nearly burst into tears.
Simon
His birthday is August 25th, 1965. He is a Virgo because of course he is. Just misses Boomer status, as Gen X began in '65 lmao.
His father was a first-generation Russian/Yakut immigrant, while his mother was a second generation Filipina American. They were borderline hippies that met at a music festival, but break the (objectively flawed) stereotype by being very well educated with successful careers in teaching.
Simon had a younger sister and developed Older Sibling Syndrome that defines part of his personality to this day.
Stemming from his parents, Simon has always had a thirst for adventure. In addition to being exposed to camping at young age due to his family taking him to festivals in his youth, he also has always had a general inclination to explore the unknown.
Loves 60s-70s rock and roll a la Mountain and Jimi Hendrix, but just prefers the genre in general. This manifests later a bit in Ice King's love for Marceline's music, which is of course rock-centric.
He is autistic; his first special interest was cryptids, something that never really left him. He eventually developed one for playing the drums (also seen in IK later) and Cheers obv. His main interest is by far ancient artifacts. He was the kid that checked out books on Ancient Egypt every week.
Got his PHD in Archaeology by 27 due to being wicked smart and starting intro college classes all the way back in his Junior/Senior years of high school.
Unironically tuned into Art Bell's radio show because of his cryptid and conspiracy fascination. He never actually bought into any of it (mostly), but it was fun for him!
Is a cat person full stop. He will sometimes take walks in his neighborhood and be greeted by all the outside cats that he has made a point to get to know!
Simon and Betty
Met at a University-held science and sci-fi convention right before Betty was to leave for Australia. Simon held a small panel on the Enchiridion, talking about its history and his search for it. Betty fell fast and hard. They both did. After the panel they talked for hours about it.
Their shared love for mysteries and adventure made them a perfect match. They shared a ton in common and became inseparable almost instantly.
Were the couple that rarely ever fought, but they also possessed a level of obvious codependency. Betty was the first person to ever make Simon feel so seen and he loved her wit and eccentricity, and Simon proved so smart and sweet and genuinely interesting that their pull was magnetic.

5, 6, 16, what a lovely concept!
This was nice, thank you for asking. And also sorry because it got long.
5. something you see in fics a lot and love
There's a tendency of mentioning braids in ironborn-focused fics when describing characters like Asha or Victarion and I think it's probably motivated by "Viking"-like hairstyles depicted in pop culture but I associate it to the Dothraki so it's a sort of accidental parallel that I appreciate a lot. Also Theon getting his hair washed and cut after escaping Winterfell. I don't care who does it, immediate catharsis.
6. something you see in art a lot and love
As of late I've finally gotten to see more non-west/centre European inspiration in art and it fills my heart with glee.
More specific examples
Every time I get to see Arab, Indigenous, African or Asian inspired Iron Islands inhabitants. Admittedly, I don't think I have much of a preference because due to the thraldom and the trading with non-westerosi cultures allows for a lot of diversity but yess these are all faves. Some reasons: Arab (Stories like that of Sayyida al-Hurra, their nautical vehicles being more similar to dhows than actual viking galleys), Indigenous and African (Theon being taken away from his culture and raised by foreigners who look down on him and behave paternalistic at best mirroring the story of Leftraru and hundreds of other indigenous heroes, them choosing their kings and having a less monarchic policy than the rest of Westeros, described as dark and often facing some sort of bias, history and lore being traditionally passed orally), Asian (not gonna lie purely because the connections between Yi Ti and the Iron Islands that kind of goes overlooked by most)
Yakut or Inuit based Starks and The North ( Yakut fashion my beloved, unipkaaqs my adored)
Mesoamerican inspired Tyrells and habitants of the Reach (Remember that thing I told you about Oldtown being in Guatemala?)
Black Westerlings(/Spicers), (purely because the Spicers are descents of Maggy the Frog, who is Essosi, and a dear friend of mine is obsessed with Jeyne W in the way I'm obsessed with Jeyne P and she is mozambican)
I feel like lately a lot of these have become more accepted in fandom so there's a lot more art featuring them and I gush about that a lot.
16. a tiny detail in canon that you want more people to appreciate
I think Theon's cultural isolation during his time in Winterfell. At this point most people seem to agree that plays a role in his arc but I still feel like it's dismissed in favour of loyalty conflicts (Stark vs Greyjoy; Robb vs Balon)
An example of that could maybe be his religion. The faith of the drowned god is passed down orally, they worship no items and have no specific place of praying. The few religions in real life that still do this are often motivated by wanting to create a sense of community in their faith. There is a need to gather around together, wherever you are, in order to learn of your faith. Theon can't do that in Winterfell where there are no drowned priests. Sansa gets to find some solace in the Godswood in King's Landing and the Eyrie but that's not an option for Theon who can't even baptise himself with salt water.
Even if the North's religion is that of the Old Gods, Ned Stark has a sept built for Catelyn and Sansa and Arya get a septa to instruct them in the beliefs of her mother. Theon's faith however is unimportant.
Theon found himself wondering if he should say a prayer. Will the old gods hear me if I do? They were not his gods, had never been his gods. He was ironborn, a son of Pyke, his god was the Drowned God of the islands … but Winterfell was long leagues from the sea.
Then there's also the fact his clothes already set him apart. House colours being black & gold vs stark house colours being white and grey.
And of course also the subtle xenophobia/racism that GRRM tiptoe's around. Luwin is where he gets the boldest. Take this
"Windy and cold and damp. A miserable hard place, in truth . . . but my lord father once told me that hard places breed hard men, and hard men rule the world." - Theon I, ACOK
and compare it to this:
"Cruel places breed cruel peoples, Bran, remember that as you deal with these ironmen. Your lord father did what he could to gentle Theon, but I fear it was too little and too late." - Bran VI, ACOK
Balon speaks of "hard" when referring to their land being a poor one with bad weather, Luwin, who lives in a place called WINTERfell, a more or less prosperous city, speaks of "cruel"
Aha, Luwin "Cruel places breed cruel peoples", and where and by whom do you think Theon was raised for the later, more sentient and formative, half of his life???

5, 11 and 21 for the ask game 👀 Wanna get more for my Aon fever
Ohh didn't expect that. But will always take the opportunity to talk about blorbo girl. Thank you fren 💚
11 - I don't have a actress in mind who could play her (very unusual since I almost everytime have a faceclaim for OCs). Aon is inspired by a few ppl but I am like 99% sure I would chose Flavia Finzenz as VA for her (fem V synchro). She has a really gritty, angry tone but in a charming way? Would be perfect. (I couldn't find a vid with the german V voice lines so I linked a Interview with Flavia)
5 - I associate a Lynx with her. That was a kinda deep/lucky catch character development decision. She is half Yakut and therefore I wanted to give her some traits that fit their believes and practices without going too deep, since she never found a connection back to this side of her family. The obvious thing would be the knife forging (for those who don't know she made Kurt's toy knife in my AU). The other interesting thing I found out while researching is that there's smth called 'yekyua'. Familiar spirits that protect yakut shamans. The topic is quite complex and Aon is not a shaman and only researches about 'her people' in a similar way as I do. But I really like the concept of a guardian animal that will follow her througout her life. @blackrevell was a incredible big help here on deciding which animal would fit. So Lynxes are a symbol for resilience, power, agility, warriors who protect their own kind. But on the other hand are rather shy and hide away. And overall they are highly respected and scared animals for the Yakutian. Storywise I have a few things planned to incorporate it into Aon's lore. But the answer is already long enough lmao.
21 - She loves action movies. Everything from Tarantino, Martial Arts, old Western, such things. So her 'embarassing secret' would be, that she also enjoys watching cheesy romance stuff from time to time. It's not really secret in a way 'nobody knows' since I imagine she would watch them togehter with Anna on a girls night or smth like that. So it's a thing between them. Don't tell Kurt tho, or the tough image she established will be gone within seconds.

Sakha's weapons
Lena is a skilled warrior, as she was trained since her childhood by the Toyon Usa himself, since physical training was considered as important as diplomacy, languages, culture and refined arts.
Even though she uses more modern weapons now, she still trains hard, as she wants to preserve all the lessons she learned during her childhood training. She even gets inspiration from different martial arts, so she can refine her skills as well.
Batyya (1, 4) and batas (2, 3).
Tumblr media
[ID: Black and white picture of 4 traditional yakut weapons. They are numbered below. The 1st and 4th knives are called batyya, as they are more curved. The 2nd and 3rd are called batas, and they differ from the batyya as they are more pointy and less curved. End ID]
This is how she would carry a batas:
Tumblr media
[ID: Picture of a man carrying a batas on his back, covered in a yellow leather scabbald. His tshirt is bright blue. End ID]
And this is a better picture of a batyya:
Tumblr media
[ID: Batyaa placed in a stone floor. The handle is made of wood, and covered in the center by black leather. The blade is silver, large and curved, with some carvings on the center. End ID]
She also has a big set of yakut knives that she has forged herself over the years. Each one of her knives has a purpose, even though she could use one of them for everything. Some are used only in the kitchen, others for cutting wood, etc. Also, each one of them has an unique design.
In this picture, you can see how yakut knives look like:
Tumblr media
[ID: Yakut knife placed on top of some rocks. The handle and scabbard is made of wood, and has carvings that look like mountains with some trees. The finishes on the handle are gold, and the blade is small, silver and with other carvings as well. End ID]
Lena sometimes forges a yakut knife as a gift for someone she really appreciates, keeping in mind the details that a person would like to have carved on the wooden handle.
For Garpancha (Evenki), she carved some traditional evenki patterns.
Dolgan and Even had some reindeers carved on the handle as well.
For Umqi (Chukchi), she carved a polar bear and some fishes.
And of course, Baatar (Mongolia) was gifted a knife with horse decorations.
Lena (Sakha/Yakutia), as I said, has a lot of knives. One has the Lena Pillars carved on it, another has a yakut horse, another has a heart-shaped traditional pattern, another has a bear... And the list goes on and on.
She enjoys crafting them and gives them as a gift to those she trusts the most, however she does not give them completely sharpened. Giving sharp objects as a gift in Russia is considered as a taboo, so she does not sharpen them before gifting them.
Having a knife crafted by her is an honor, as she dedicates all her love and care to create an unique piece that you wont find anywhere else.
Note: If you need image descriptions and those I have given are not enough, please comment below and I will describe the pictures more.

Practice 1: Assignment 3, Concept Art - Nostalgia and Memory
"Memories and Nostalgia" are universal themes that resonate with every one of us. Our memories have the power to transport us back in time, reliving cherished moments and experiences that have shaped our lives. For this assignment, I've chosen to delve into a cultural memory, a vibrant and significant celebration in the heart of Yakutia, Russia - the Yhyakh Festival.
The Yhyakh Festival, also known as the Yakutian Summer Festival, is an event that has been celebrated for generations in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Russia. It is a symbol of cultural pride, where the Yakut people come together to celebrate their heritage. This festival is rich in tradition, featuring vivid displays of traditional clothing, throat singing, and an array of games and contests. The Yhyakh Festival is not just an event; it is a testament to the resilience and spirit of the Yakut people, who have persevered through the harshest of environments.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
For this assignment, I set out to recreate the iconic environments of the Yhyakh Festival using 3D concept art. It was a challenging yet rewarding experience.
The heart of the Yhyakh Festival is its grand festival grounds. It's an expansive area filled with colorful tents and pavilions, each showcasing various aspects of Yakut culture. Here I used blender in combination with Photoshop.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
One of the most striking features of the Yhyakh Festival is the traditional Yakut clothing. Both men and women wear elaborate, embroidered garments made from vibrant materials.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Memories and nostalgia are powerful tools for artists, helping us connect with the past and celebrate our shared human experiences. The Yhyakh Festival, with its vibrant cultural memory, is a testament to the enduring spirit of a people who continue to cherish their heritage, and through this art, I aim to share a piece of that cultural treasure with the world.

Saints&Reading: Thursday, October 6, 2022

GLORIFICATION ( 1977) OF ST INNOCENT, METROPOLITAN OF MOSCOW. APOSTLE TO THE AMERICAS.
Tumblr media
Saint Innocent, Metropolitan of Moscow, Enlightener of the Aleuts and Apostle to America (in the world John Popov-Veniaminov), was born on August 26, 1797 in the village of Anginsk in the Irkutsk diocese, into the family of a sacristan. The boy mastered his studies at an early age and by age seven, he was reading the Epistle in church. In 1806 they sent him to the Irkutsk seminary. In 1814, the new rector thought it proper to change the surnames of some of the students. John Popov received the surname Veniaminov in honor of the deceased Archbishop Benjamin of Irkutsk (+ July 8, 1814). On May 13, 1817 he was ordained deacon for the Irkutsk Annunciation church, and on May 18, 1821, he was ordained priest.
The missionary service of the future Apostle of America and Siberia began with the year 1823. Father John spent 45 years laboring for the enlightenment of the peoples of Kamchatka, the Aleutian Islands, North America, Yakutsk, the Khabarov frontier, performing his apostolic exploit in severe conditions and at great risks to life. Saint Innocent baptized ten thousand people, and built churches, beside which he founded schools and he himself taught the fundamentals of the Christian life. His knowledge of various crafts and arts aided him in his work.
Father John was a remarkable preacher. During the celebration of the Liturgy, memorial services and the all-night Vigil, he incessantly guided his flock. During his time of endless travels, Father John studied the languages, customs and habits of the peoples, among whom he preached. His work in geography, ethnography and linguistics received worldwide acclaim. He composed an alphabet and grammar for the Aleut language and translated the Catechism, the Gospel and many prayers into that language. One of the finest of his works was the Indication of the Way into the Kingdom of Heaven (1833), translated into the various languages of the peoples of Siberia and appearing in more than 40 editions. Thanks to the toil of Father John, the Yakut people in 1859 first heard the Word of God and divine services in their own native language.
On November 29, 1840, after the death of his wife, Father John was tonsured a monk with the name Innocent by Saint Philaret, the Metropolitan of Moscow, in honor of Saint Innocent of Irkutsk. On December 15, Archimandrite Innocent was consecrated Bishop of Kamchatka, the Kurile and Aleutian Islands. On April 21, 1850 Bishop Innocent was elevated to the rank of archbishop.
Tumblr media
By the Providence of God on January 5, 1868, Saint Innocent succeeded Metropolitan Philaret on the Moscow cathedra. Through the Holy Synod, Metropolitan Innocent consolidated the secular missionary efforts of the Russian Church (already in 1839 he had proposed a project for improving the organization of missionary service).
Under the care of Metropolitan Innocent a Missionary Society was created, and the Protection monastery was reorganized for missionary work. In 1870 the Japanese Orthodox Spiritual Mission headed by Archimandrite Nicholas Kasatkin [afterwards Saint Nicholas of Japan, (February 3)] was set up, with whom Saint Innocent had shared much of his own spiritual experience. The guidance by Saint Innocent of the Moscow diocese was also fruitful, by his efforts, the church of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos was built up into the Moscow Spiritual Academy.
Saint Innocent fell asleep in the Lord on March 31, 1879, on Holy Saturday, and was buried at the Holy Spirit Church of the Trinity-Saint Sergius Lavra. On October 6, 1977, Saint Innocent was glorified by the Russian Orthodox Church. His memory is celebrated three times during the year: on March 31, the day of his blessed repose, on October 5 (Synaxis of the Moscow Hierarchs), and on October 6, the day of his glorification.
THE MONASTIC WOMEN XANTHIPPA AND POLYXENIA (109)
The righteous women Xanthίppē and Polyxénē were sisters by birth and lived in Spain at the time of the Holy Apostles. They were among the first to hear the divine teaching of Christ the Savior from the Holy Apostle Paul, when he preached in their land (Romans 15:28). Saint Xanthίppē and her husband Probus converted to Christianity, but before her Baptism Saint Polyxénē was abducted by a licentious man, who took her to Greece on a ship. God's grace protected her, however, and did not permit her to be defiled.
Moving around from place to place, Polyxénē heard the preaching of the Apostle Philip in Greece. After her arrival in Greece, Polyxénē turned to the Christians for protection, and they hid her in the city of Patra in Achaia. There she formally accepted Christianity and was baptized by the Holy Apostle Andrew the First-Called (November 30). Saint Polyxénē was a witness to Saint Andrew's miracles, and how patiently he endured his sufferings and death. She stood by the cross upon which they crucified him.
After Saint Andrew's martyric death, Saint Polyxénē returned to Spain, taking with her the Apostle Onḗsimos (February 15) and her traveling companion Rebecca, a Jewish slave, with whom she had been baptized. There she and her older sister Xanthίppē converted many pagans to Christ.
Saint Polyxénē labored for about forty years preaching the Gospel in Spain. Saint Xanthίppē shared in her sister’s work and preached in the populous city of Toledo.
Saint Polyxénē reposed around the year 109, having preserved her virginity until the end of her earthly life.
In Slavic usage Saints Xanthίppē and Polyxénē are commemorated on September 24.

LUKE 1:5-25
5 There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the division of Abijah. His wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth. 6 And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless. 7 But they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren, and they were both well advanced in years. 8 So it was, that while he was serving as priest before God in the order of his division, 9 according to the custom of the priesthood, his lot fell to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord. 10 And the whole multitude of the people was praying outside at the hour of incense. 11 Then an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing on the right side of the altar of incense. 12 And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him. 13 But the angel said to him, "Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. 14 And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth. 15 For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink. He will also be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb. 16 And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God. 17 He will also go before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, 'to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,' and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord. 18 And Zacharias said to the angel, "How shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife is well advanced in years." 19 And the angel answered and said to him, "I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God, and was sent to speak to you and bring you these glad tidings. 20 But behold, you will be mute and not able to speak until the day these things take place, because you did not believe my words which will be fulfilled in their own time. 21 And the people waited for Zacharias, and marveled that he lingered so long in the temple. 22 But when he came out, he could not speak to them; and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple, for he beckoned to them and remained speechless. 23 So it was, as soon as the days of his service were completed, that he departed to his own house. 24 Now after those days his wife Elizabeth conceived; and she hid herself five months, saying, 25 Thus the Lord has dealt with me, in the days when He looked on me, to take away my reproach among people.
GALATIANS 4:22-31
22 For it is written that Abraham had two sons: the one by a bondwoman, the other by a freewoman. 23 But he who was of the bondwoman was born according to the flesh, and he of the freewoman through promise, 24 which things are symbolic. For these are the two covenants: the one from Mount Sinai which gives birth to bondage, which is Hagar- 25 or this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and corresponds to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children 26 but the Jerusalem above is free, which is the mother of us all. 27 For it is written: "Rejoice, O barren, You who do not bear! Break forth and shout, You who are not in labor! For the desolate has many more children Than she who has a husband." 28 Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are children of promise. 29 But, as he who was born according to the flesh then persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, even so it is now. 30 Nevertheless what does the Scripture say? "Cast out the bondwoman and her son, for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman." 31 So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman but of the free.
