Jessica Woodlee’s single “Whiskey” is this year’s official sad girl autumn anthem. The song follows Woodlee and her journey in unrequited love. The song is a vulnerable synth pop anthem that’s sure to get you in your feels. The storyline is incredibly vulnerable with a similar feel to hits like “Make You Love Me” and “Teardrops On My Guitar”. Similar to those songs, as the listener, you can’t help but root for the artist to finally get what, but most importantly who, they want. Jessica’s vocals are so natural and soothing to listen to and as she gets into the bridge of the single, it feels like she’s pouring her heart out to her audience. With the instrumentation growing in excitement and her vocals getting louder and bolder, the bridge feels like the turning point in her story. For anyone who’s loved someone who may not love them back, this one’s for you.

i love the…. almost horror aspects of this album. all the references to ghosts and death…. and sonically, the unexpected shrieking in WAOLOM and the banging and screaming during “old habits die screaming” and even the way the tension subtly builds across the sixteen tracks and by the end you’re so stressed and shaken it’s like! losing your sense of self and feeling like you’ve become a monster is horror. and i’m sooooo glad she leaned into it

"This song is dedicated to anyone experiencing a painful heartbreak during the holidays," says Paulette McWilliams.

Breakups are hard. But the holidays seem to magnify the loneliness of heartache: parties with everyone coupled up, romantic Christmas music and movies, and those annual Christmas letters brimming with friends' burgeoning families. The airwaves are filled with upbeat holiday classics leaving little room for sadness and contemplation.

"Blue Christmas is about the only holiday classic I know of that offers comfort to the lovelorn," says songwriter, musician, and producer Ivan Hampden Jr. "Now, people can listen to Pink Champagne and know they're not alone too."

Pink Champagne is a story of a woman's journey from victim to victor at Christmastime. A mindset that Paulette believes can help brokenhearted listeners find comfort. It’s an unusual take on the traditional holiday tune inspired by the vocal stylings of Nancy Wilson, Marlena Shaw, and Eartha Kitt.

"You can't experience the joy of the holidays unless you let go of the painful emotions instead of holding them in," she says. "I hope Pink Champagne helps people who are hurting move on."

Beautifully arranged and produced by multi-Grammy nominated Ivan Hampden Jr., who made a name for himself working for Luther Vandross, Ashford & Simpson, and Eartha Kitt.
