Y/N WAS GOING TO QUIT. She was sure of it. Her mind was constantly trying to plan how she would execute the idea without making a scene because she considered slamming her resignation letter on Jamison's desk, dramatically claiming him as a disgusting, chauvinistic bitter old man who only got laid because his wife took pity on him.
She was walking back to her desk after bearing another one of his, "I don't think you can do the job, L/n. Let the men go out to the field and cover the story."
She was also a journalist, for god's sake. And a good one at that. What made that old man think she wasn't as capable as any other male peers around her? Was she too much of a woman to go out on the field and cover stories that were judged as too dangerous for her?
She let out a scoff. The Jamison Lynch worried about her safety? That sounded even more absurd.
"He did it again, didn't he?" Y/n found Sandy, the closest friend she had in this male-dominated agency, peering over her cubicle. She was from the finance department and would often come to entertain her whenever she needed an ear to cry out her frustration. "What is it this time?"
She cleared her throat and made an attempt of lowering her voice into a deeper pitch. "L/n, I don't think you understand how dangerous it is for you to be out there. Let the men do the job."
Sandy laughed. "That's actually a good impression. What work was he talking about?"
"Kevin Marshall's case." Y/n sat back in her chair and frowned. "The ironic thing is, I was the one who found out about this case. I told him about doing a story of it before he snitched this opportunity and gave it to Eric."
"So Eric's covering the story now?"
"Yeah." She rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. "They're still talking about it in his office."
Sandy blew a low whistle. "That sucks."
She felt beyond frustrated. It seemed so unfair how she always got the bad end of the stick just because she wasn't born with a penis. She told Sandy exactly that which she cackled in return.
"On a serious note," Sandy muttered after her fits of laughter died down and leaned closer. "What happened to Mr. Marshall was terrible."
"You didn't hear this from me, but the police found him stabbed to death and..." she looked around their surroundings, motioning her friend to inch closer. "...there was some writing carved on his body."
Sandy's eyes went wide. "No way."
She nodded. "A friend of a friend of a friend of mine heard it from the forensic team."
"What were the words?"
"Well, if I were to be the one assigned to this case, we would've found out." She shook her head and let out another frustrated cry. "I'm going to quit this job."
"You said that last month," Sandy reminded her. "And the month before that, also, the month before that. Oh, did I mention you also said that several months ago—"
She held out her hand. "Alright, I got it." She glanced over the closed door at the end of the hallway, her mind drifting towards the two men discussing her supposedly case behind it. "I really mean it this time."
"Sure," Sandy absentmindedly agreed. "Wait, didn't you know Mr. Marshall?"
"Not really. I only met him once for work." She winced as her thought traveled to the time she encountered the man who was brutally murdered two days ago. "Let's just say he wasn’t exactly the greatest person to interview."
"No kidding."
She dismissed the topic by waving her hand. "It happened a long time ago, let's not bring that up. I'd feel terrible bad-mouthing him after what happened." She then let out a sigh. "It would be quite a story to cover though."
"Yeah, well, screw Jamison for taking it away for you." Sandy's eyes suddenly gleamed as they narrowed towards the automatic door at the corner of the room. "At least your boyfriend is here."
Y/n spotted the young man walking their way and laughed. "He's not my boyfriend."
"I don't think he got the memo," Sandy whispered before straightening herself, giving the man a huge grin as he stopped at her desk. "Hey, Oliver."
"Hi, Sandy." He greeted slowly. "How are you?"
"Better now that I've seen your pretty face."
Oliver Walsh was indeed an absolutely stunning man. He was tall and lean with broad shoulders and a very defined face. He was a little mysterious and reserved, but underneath that veneer was someone who was kind and caring.
He might not be the most outgoing person, but he had a genuine sweetness that made him attractive and likable. He also happened to have the hugest crush on Y/n the moment he first stepped foot inside this building.
Oliver gave Sandy a smile. "You look beautiful yourself."
Sandy rolled her eyes playfully. "We know I'm not the one you should be sweeping off her feet." She then gave Y/n a pointed look. "I'll see you tomorrow."
"What? You're going home already?"
"Got a hot date tonight!" Sandy overly shared before sauntering out of their sight. Y/n shook her head at her friend's antics before glancing up to see Oliver staring at her with the same look he had been giving her ever since the moment he had introduced himself.
His clear affection didn't go unnoticed. It somehow managed to be a public assumption that he was head over heels for her, something that was often discussed between their peers. As much as she wanted to reciprocate his feelings because she understood how difficult it was to be on the other side of unrequited love, she merely saw him as a guy she often worked with.
"Can I help you, Oliver?" She asked, already weary of the grin plastered on his face.
"No, I just wanted to see how you were doing."
Her face fell at his words. "How I'm doing?"
"I heard Jamison snatched a very important job from you."
"Wow," she gasped, not understanding how he knew this information already. But then again, people had the tendency to share things they overheard. "News really does travel fast around here."
"There's no such thing as secrets in this place. But seriously, how are you holding up?"
She simply shrugged. "Oh, I don't know. Angry? Frustrated? Like I want to strangle Jamison myself?"
"Y/n, there's no such thing as a bad bone in your body."
"What? You don't think I'm capable of hurting him?"
"Nope. You're the sweetest person I know."
She snorted. "That's because you keep seeing me through rose-tinted glass."
"Maybe." Oliver crossed his arms and leaned his hips over her desk. "Is there anything I can do to help?"
She shook her head. He raised his brows. "Really? You can't think of anything?" She shook her head again. "Perhaps something to appease your frustration? Chocolate? You do love chocolate."
"I do, but I don't think anything sweet can even calm me down."
"Then how about a drink? Coffee? Beer? You and me? Together? Tonight?"
She let out a disbelief laugh as she stood up, making an attempt to gather her things. "Don't be so sly, Oliver."
He merely gave her a bashful smile. "Can't blame a guy for trying."
"It's never going to work between us." She paused dramatically. "Do you want to know why?"
He slowly nodded, eying her with earnest interest.
"Because you see, Oliver," she drawled as she closed the distance between them. She peered up at him through her lashes and threw him a grin. "I never mix business with pleasure."
She gave him a playful wink before turning around, leaving him dumbfounded and speechless as he stood there where she had left him. He let out an amused laugh before calling out, "I'm going to make you change your mind!”
She lifted her hand and waved at him without looking back. "Goodnight, Walsh."
His laughter was the last thing she heard before she turned around the corner, heading towards the parking area.
Turning him down was the right thing to do. She was not in the right place to be emotionally involved with other people right now. After going through so many heartbreaks and disappointments in the past, she couldn't take any more of the dating scene. It was just a bunch of awkward interactions and unmet expectations while feeling worn down by the whole process. She couldn't even remember the last time she was involved with a man.
A sudden mock laughter rang at the back of her head. You were involved with a complete stranger two nights ago!
Romantically, she corrected. She couldn't remember the last time she was involved with a man romantically.
Oh, great. Now she was fighting with herself upon what had happened that night. That... overwhelming and embarrassing night which she did not want to speak of. Overwhelming because of how much she wanted to see him again, embarrassing because she knew he did not feel the same.
She groaned as her mind somehow drifted to memory, her mind reminiscing that intoxicating feeling of his tongue inside her mouth for the first time. Or that moment before he settled above her, sinking between her legs as the tip of his hard, throbbing length squeezed into her warm entrance—
No! Don't even go there!
She stopped her pace and stood by the entryway of the parking lot, trying to calm her erratic heartbeat. She needed a moment to breathe. Between her frustration toward her boss, the constant interest from her fellow colleague, and the rush of sexual heat at that core memory, her head was starting to spin.
It wasn't until a sudden weight shoved her from the back that she woke from her trance. She jolted forward from the impact before her bag fell onto the ground, the remnants of her things spilling out, and scattered along her feet. "What the hell?"
She looked up to see the back side of a man moving forward in a hurry, not even sparing her a glance.
"Hey!" She shouted, clearly annoyed by the fact an unidentified man wearing a dark hoodie covering his face didn't have the decency to apologize. When he turned around the corner and escaped her line of vision, she realized she wasn't going to get the apology she desired.
She picked up her belongings while muttering curses under her breath. Her phone which lay a few inches away from her feet suddenly vibrated, the loud sound of an incoming call echoing throughout the open space of the lot. She peered over towards the screen and groaned.
She shoved the phone inside her bag and went on her way as she spotted her car. "Now's not the time, Jamison," she mumbled to herself, already irritated by how the night had turned out.
Her phone went silent again. It wasn't until she was a few feet away from her car that it began its chime a second time. The sound felt heavy in her ears and she finally got to her car, leaned against it, and reluctantly dug into her bag to retrieve the device.
She clutched onto it with disdain because Jamison was known to be persistent while also being inconsiderate and thoughtless. If she ignored him he would find another way to get under her skin. She slumped against the cool material of her car and slowly took a deep, aggravating breath before receiving the call. "Yes, Jamison—"
There was heavy breathing at the end of the line. A static sound greeted her before a loud crash echoed in the background. She looked over her phone screen before pressing it back against her ear. "Jamison?"
"...help..."
His croaked voice shot shivers down her spine. She straightened herself as panic washed over her body. Her boss was known for being very loud as he loved being the center of attention. But his voice sounded so quiet now. It didn't have that hint of self-centered confidence he liked to portray. It even sounded as if he were... in pain?
"Jamison?" She gulped and without thinking of her actions, her feet somehow moved on their own, navigating her back to where she had left. "Jamison, what's wrong? Are you hurt? Can you hear me?"
"...Y/n..." Crash. Cough. Gasp. "...help—"
The line went dead.
Y/n wasn't exactly a fit person. Her only form of physical activity would be the number of stairs she climbed up and down in her apartment building. But her feet were moving very fast on its own right now. She didn't care how running in a pair of flats wasn't the best idea, the mortification of something awful happening to someone asking for her assistance was gnawing into her consciousness.
The moment she was on her office floor, she took notice of how nothing seemed to be out of the ordinary. The place was exactly how she had left minus all the people hanging by their respective desks. Because it was very, very quiet and the silence felt oddly eerie to her. Half of the lights were off and her steps halted for a moment as she entered her cubicle space, suddenly self-aware of the possibility of how something dangerous might occur.
Then she heard a scream. A deep, dreadful scream followed by a train of curses came from what she assumed was Jamison's office. Her feet moved again and her frightened demeanor was replaced by concern as she increased her pace, turning to the hallway towards his office.
Her movement faltered when she realized she wasn't alone. A very frightened-looking Eric Adler stood by Jamison's door before he turned around at the sound of her footsteps.
"Eric?"
His voice was etched with panic and horror as he rushed forward and held her by the arms. "No, Y/n."
"...what?" Her eyes shot behind him, noticing Jamison's door jarred open. She tried to escape his grip. "You don't understand. He called me—"
"No. Please. You don't want to see him in there—"
"Let go of me! He called—"
"Y/n." His grip tightened. "He's—he's... gone."
She looked up to see her coworker, the same man who simply stood in silence this evening as he took the job she had wanted. The confused look in his eyes from the sudden responsibility he had to take on that particular moment was now replaced by terror; a look of sheer horror, one which conveyed utter fear and panic. It was a look of complete devastation and utter helplessness, a look that made his soul seem to have been just sucked out of his body. It was the kind of look that conveyed the deepest despair one could possibly feel.
He's gone.
Gone could mean a lot of things. It could mean disappearance. It could mean an emotional state of feeling disconnected from the world. But this gone... she understood what it meant. She understood the weight of the word the moment her eyes spotted the surge of blood coming from Jamison's office.
There was so much blood that she should've felt disgusted by the amount of it, but her mind was too busy trying to convince herself that it was real. It wasn't until her eyes spotted a hand sprawled lifelessly across the floor that her stomach started to churn. The stone rings circling around the fingers were the exact rings she often saw on her boss.
The realization on her face had Eric pulling her away. But before he could drag her, she saw a glimpse of the lifeless body, and what she caught had her completely stunned. More than feeling mortified by the scene, a sense of bewilderment settled in. The disbelief of such a coincidence happening etched her mind as she peered over the body one last time.
Because something was carved along his arm.
Tumblr media
There was a lot of waiting. Feeling impatient was one of the most frustrating things to ever exist, it made her feel anxious and restless about the lack of progress after Eric had called the authorities. He had guided her to the front area of the receptionist, given her a blanket he had found somewhere in the office—which she wasn't sure who it even belonged to—and given her a cup of warm tea as he made some calls.
She sat there, watching her coworker pace back and forth along the marble floor. She could tell Eric's mind was secretly all over the place with his disheveled hair and dark circles underneath his eyes, but somehow he managed to keep his calm.
He was steady, still a little fazed with the whole ordeal, but managed to keep checking up on her every five minutes. He even had the time to apologize for taking her job before she merely shook it off. It wasn't his decision to snatch away the opportunity. Though it felt inappropriate to point fingers at the person who actually did decide on the matter when he was lying in the other room covered in his own blood.
She shuddered again. There were so many questions running through her mind. What kind of person would do a terrible, gruesome thing to another human being? It was always the same question she had whenever she encountered such devastating news. She once read in an article that there were roughly 300,000 people who were killed by murder each year worldwide, and to think that one of them happened to somebody she knew felt so surreal.
The authorities finally came an hour later followed by a group of people wearing protective suits. The waiting for their arrival was very long, but everything happened so fast the moment they introduced themselves. A detective in an oversized suit talked to her and Eric separately, asking what happened prior to finding the body.
She suddenly felt nauseous as she recalled Jamison's phone call, how pained and desperate his voice sounded. It wasn't until she heard herself say it out loud that she realized the possibility of the killer being in the same room on that phone call. Or even in the same room as her as she entered the vicinity of their office.
"Ms. L/n?" Y/n looked up to see the detective watching her with worry. "Are you alright?"
No, she wasn't. But she merely nodded and gave him a smile. "I will be."
He returned the smile with a genuine one of his own and glanced at his watch. "You should get some sleep, Ms. L/n. If you have any more information please don't hesitate to contact us."
Then he left her standing there alone, watching people bustling around her with different equipment. She could hear the faint sound of the ambulance from the distance, smell the intoxicating scent of chemicals coming from the medics, and sense her fatigue creeping along her body as her eyes noted the time showed on the massive clock plastered on the wall.
"Ms. L/n?"
Y/n turned to see a man standing close, his dark eyes watching her cautiously. There was a sense of confidence in his posture that she couldn't help but notice. "Yes?"
"Mr. Adler told me where to find you." She frowned at the mention of Eric before her confusion deepened at the badge presented in front of her. "I'm SSA Derek Morgan from the FBI."
"FBI?"
"Yes," he confirmed, shoving his badge back into his pocket. "I'd like to ask you a few questions regarding this past event."
She crossed her arms. "I don't think my boss being brutally killed should be called an event." She steadied her gaze on him. "And I've already talked to the detective."
"My apologies, and I'm terribly sorry for your loss." He gave her an apologetic smile. "Although I would appreciate it if you can spare a few minutes of your time."
She observed him, watching him hesitantly before letting out a heavy sigh. "I guess so."
"Is there anywhere private we can talk?"
His attempt at keeping their conversation confidential from all the people swarming by had her quirking an eyebrow. She nodded and guided him toward the closest space that could provide them some privacy. "Sure... We can use the conference room down here."
"Thank you. My partner will also be present with us if you don't mind."
She looked him up and down. "There's two of you?"
"There's two of us," Agent Morgan confirmed, slightly smiling at the condescending tone of her voice. "Dr. Reid will shortly join us."
The silence after that statement was very, very palpable. The sudden stillness was one that typically left her feeling completely baffled, a state of total shock and disbelief over a familiar name unexpectedly mentioned. The uncertainty of her ability to hear left her frozen in her tracks, waiting for her brain to catch up with the sudden information. "Doctor... Reid?"
"Dr. Spencer Reid. He was talking to Mr. Adler a while ago—wait, there he is." Agent Morgan's voice grew louder as his eyes focused on the man behind them. "Reid! Over here!"
He surely couldn't be...?
She shook her head. The world wasn't that small, was it? Even though she was very bad at remembering names, how could she forget the exact same one she wrongly called as a result of her pettiness? And besides, there must be a lot of people possessing the same name, surely it was a different person.
Though the deafening lack of sound was jarring as if every other sound had been sucked out of the room. It almost felt like everything was frozen in time as her eyes settled on the man standing a few feet away from her. Because there he was, the same man who awkwardly flirted with her two days ago.
The same man who grabbed her by the waist the moment she looked up at him with need. The same man who leaned in closer, the tension charged with anticipation and desire before it lead to an explosion of passion that couldn't be quelled.
But the desperate longing in his eyes from that night was changed into mortification, and when she thought her night couldn’t go more terrible than it already was, it had gotten even worse.

Found Family Tournament Round 2 Part 9 Group 42
Propaganda and further images under the cut
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wright Anything Agency (& Company): Phoenix & Trucy Wright, Apollo Justice, Maya Fey, Miles Edgeworth, Pearl Fey, Ema Skye, Kay Faraday & Sebastian Debeste
221B Fam: Ryunosuke Naruhodo, Susato Mikotoba, Herlock Sholmes, Iris Wilson, Wagahai (& Gina Lestrade, Yujin Mikotoba, Kazuma Asogi, Barok van Zieks)
Wright Anything Agency (& Company):
THEY MEAN THE WORLDDDDD TO MEEEEEE for some reason a lot of people in the fandom don't play Ace Attorney 5 which is fair since it's kind of messy BUT. BUT. IT INTRODUCES ATHENA AND DOES SOOOO MUCH FOR THE WRIGHT ANYTHING AGENCY. In AA4 we learn that Trucy Wright made the Wright Talent Agency into the Wright Anything Agency in order to bring Apollo in as a lawyer when before it was just her (a magician) and her adopted father Phoenix (a poker player). and AA5 is all about Athena joining and Apollo learning how to trust her, at least it is to ME. they're so gooddddd aaaaaaa like you've got Phoenix and Trucy who are weirdos who love to scheme and you've got Apollo their longsuffering guy who deals with it all, and Phoenix is the mentor... and then Athena comes in and she has a lot of light and determination and trauma (just like the rest of them lol) and she's SO determined and I like her a lot!! And Trucy is my favorite and Phoenix cares about her SO much but he also has his other found family in the Feys!!!!!! Mia dies in the first game but her ghost stays with Phoenix and her sister/cousin Maya and Pearl are SO IMPORTANT TO HIM he loves them so much that's his sisters to me ;-; he would do anything for them and Trucy and he's growing as a mentor to Apollo and Athena too as the game progress... They don't write them all perfectly but they sure do a lot of things I like :) also feel free to split this up into their Wright Anything Agency or Phoenix + the Feys or Phoenix + Trucy if you need to I won't mind I just love AA's found family a lot
Picture this. You are a attorney in your mid 20s and somehow find yourself surrounded by weird little girls with every case you take on. You officially adopt one but really, all of them are either sisters or daughters to you. Especially your loud, burger-loving lesbian sister. Your childhood friend turned rival turned lover, who has a whip-wielding adoptive sister of his own, goes on a series of investigations while messing around with a furry for a couple of weeks and returns with two 17 year old children, a thieving lesbian and a child with a narcissistic murderer for a father who should've kept him back in school a few grades. Your lover has each of them under an arm, and they are appended to your stable of weird little girls but are very much hidden in the back. Then you find out that your daughter, the official one, has a 22yo trans half-brother with a musical diva mother and was half raised as a prince in Khura'in, so you divorce his boss (who is not your official lover, you just had a weird thing for a while when you were in your alcoholic phase, maybe while your actual lover was still messing around with the furry) very publicly while sending him to prison for murdering your daughter's father. Oh, but you have been disbarred, so you make your daughter's son send his own boss to prison, by planting false evidence on him. Of course the young man punches you in the face. Needless to say he works for you for a couple of years and never finds out that he's related to your daughter because that would require a straightforward conversation, now wouldn't it?
only one of them has never been arrested. only two of them arent lawyers. theyre all gay
Theyre very weird and misteruous and kinda fucked up a bit and they were through a lot but phoenix did his best and trucy well she's still just a kid but oh she's trying so fucking hard and always trying to wear a smile and it's breaking my heart the two of them. Also theyre weird i already said that but let me say it again they are WEIRD. and we love them<3 (the ace attorney fandom)
221B Fam:
I dont have much to say i am just constantly rotating them in my mind BUT i have to say the the last image i attached contains like MAJOR spoilers lol i just wanted the canon images in there
Ace Attorney has some wonderful found families, but this one's particularly special because of their circumstances. An exchange student and his unhinged weirdgirl assistant from Japan feeling so out of place in turn-of-the-century Great Britain, yet finding a completely batshit insane family during their time there...it's just so <3 <3 <3 Also Ryunosuke calls them "the greatest family in the world" and it makes my heart happy. Also they commit lots of crimes

{Demonic Companion} What if the lover is a killer?
This request can also be found in {Demonic Companion _ Part 2}
█ ▬ █ ▬ █ ▬ █ ▬ █ ▬ █ ▬ █ ▬ █ ▬ █ ▬ █ ▬ █ ▬ █ ▬ █ ▬ █
@rl8002d
Why do I want the lover to actually be a murderer? 😭 my brain is confused.
😶 getting murdered by our "love" the betrayal! At least in Hell we'd have Alastor
█ ▬ █ ▬ █ ▬ █ ▬ █ ▬ █ ▬ █ ▬ █ ▬ █ ▬ █ ▬ █ ▬ █ ▬ █ ▬ █
What if the Lover is a killer?
Okay, this can go depending on when it’s found out and what type of killer the Lover is (like by directed targets). For the sake of easiness, I’ll call this person LK. from now on (stands for Lover -is a- Killer). Basically I’ll set Alastor to be the one to find out, since love is blind and you’re blind when you in love with LK, also to avoid more scenarios
When it’s found out:
Before you’re crushing on LK or got together — Alastor wouldn’t even know this person. Like LK? Who’s that. Oh, there’s a killer around, so he’ll be protecting you and telling you to be careful. He wouldn’t find the lover’s identity since he’s more focused on you and spending what little time he has with you on Earth
When you’re crushing on LK — Alastor’s in denial for feeling soft and romantic for you, but then he’s jealous that your attention went to another. He lost to a human? It started out as his pride being damaged and challenged, that’s why he went to investigate LK, nothing more, nothing less. But then he found fount this LK was much like him. He’d advise you, perhaps hint at LK’s dark secret, instead of telling you outright. He’s not jealous! But it does make him realize he actually treasures you more than what he led on
During your relationship with LK — Immediate red flags. Alastor wants to make sure you were safe and happy, now that you were not admoured at him, he wants what’s best for you and not in a toxic way. He sees that you really really loves this LK and LK seems to reciprocate back. He’d actually threaten LK since he was doomed to go to Hell, he’d have an eternity to torture LK when LK died if you were so much as hurt, physically, mentality, spirituality, and emotionally
Type of Killer:
Outsider Victims — LK’s killings are random, or are the victims. There’s no linkage and basically points to a serial killer. You wouldn’t be a potential victim since it could tie back to LK. So Alastor is more relaxed but still on edge all the same
Targetted Victims — Think of it as revenge type or with a specific goal in mind. As long as you aren’t on the list, Alastor will keep a hands off approach, but there is the possibility that if you accidentally get in LK’s way, LK might kill you and Alastor won’t have that
Lover Victims — LK’s killings are directed at easy prey. All the past lovers and close friends of LK somehow ended up dead one way or another and LK is still free as a bird. At that point, Alastor will do everything to break off your relationship with LK, no matter the time period stated above (assuming he knows about LK of course)
Now for the exact writing request!
What if you were killed by LK and ended up in Hell with Alastor? (this is on the assumption that Alastor didn’t know LK is a killer)
The last thing you remember was pain and a heartbreak. You remember tears running down your face and the disbelief of the entire situation. You couldn’t believe it. Your 3 year anniversary with LK was your death date. You thought you were going to spend a happy life with LK and Alastor would be watching over you like a guardian angel or demon
When you got to a place with so much red and creatures from fantasy and fiction. You knew you were in Hell. Alastor told you more tales than you can remember, he joked that you’d go to Heaven but you knew you’d go to Hell because you did a demon summoning when you were so so young. You had asked Alastor of his moments in Hell to prepare yourself and you were glad to have done so
“Happy Hotel… I need to go to Hazbin Hotel… I want to see Alastor…” You sobbed again, you didn’t even realize your demon form was more of a ghost than anything. You did love the paranormal after all. Your cries echoed as you floated your way to the hotel, unknowingly causing the demons around you to wither in agony until you were out of earshot. You left along a icy trail behind you while you looked for a way to the hotel
“Radio Demon. Do you know where the Radio Demon is?” You would ask some unlucky sinners and demons. They shiver in your presence while you remained unanswered. Most figured you had a bone to pick with him, wanting to take the title of Overlord. You didn’t realize they were sending you to an early grave since they thought you didn’t know Alastor’s reputation, so they pointed you in the right direction of the hotel
You knocked on the door, ignoring the way you appear, you honestly didn’t know how you looked. The only thing on your mind was that you needed Alastor’s companionship. You patiently waited until someone answered the door, by the looks of it, Charlie Morningstar, the Princess of Hell
“Hi, welcome—”
She was promptly cut off as you leaned forward, “Radio Demon. Where is Alastor the Radio Demon?”
“What did he do this time.” A lady in so much grey, Vaggie, groaned as she moved away her spear to tap the ends against the floor. “Hey, if you want to cause trouble, can you do it outside of the hotel?”
You didn’t get a chance to explain yourself, though you heard of how many sinners and demons would look for Alastor to do battle in an attempt to gain power and attention. When you heard a voice through static and saw the demon in red, you rushed pass Charlie and Vaggie to hug Alastor by the waist. “Alastor!”
Everyone was having an internal panick attack when they saw you hug Alastor out of nowhere. They all knew you were going to die a painful death.
Alastor’s head tilted to the side as static grew painfully loud. “You are?”
“It’s me.” You tilted your head up to look at him, a frown on your face. “Did you forget?”
His eyes widened a bit in realization and recognition, he returned the hug as the static and darkness toned down. “Darling, Sweetheart, what are you doing down here? And look like this? What of your anniversary?”
Your grip on him tightened, tears flowed again. “I died. LK killed me. So… So… I woke up in Hell and went to find you at the hotel.” You buried your face in his torso as you tightened your hug, crying, “I didn’t know what to do. I didn’t realize what LK was doing. I’m sorry.”
You didn’t even realize his growing murderous aura. The hotel members all stayed silent at the scene, a bit fearful of what Alastor would do if they interrupted the moment. Alastor had to control the urge to destroy the building or anything at the moment, he didn’t want to frighten you any further considering what you went through
“Fortunaturely, my darling, this LK fellow will destine for Hell after death. If you please, you can give LK a taste of revenge. How does that sound?” Poor attempt at comfort, the hotel members all thought. But when you cracked a chuckle, they were amazed and surprised
“You’re still terrible at comforting.” You smiled, letting Alastor wipe away your tears with his claws while you calmed down. “But thanks.” You looked away a bit guilty, “Still, I don’t think I want to see LK again… Especially in Hell. Who knows what LK’ll do.” You gasped, “LK would be more powerful than me! I need to hide, just in case—”
Alastor silenced you with a clawed finger in front of your face, “Shhh, my doe. You’re in Hell, not on Earth anymore.” His grin widened as he kneeled down, while you were smaller and shorter, it seemed to be in your demonic nature to float, much like a ghost would. He held your hand and kissed it, “We could be together anytime and anywhere without judgment.”
You remained hesitant. “But you’re an Overlord and you host the Hazbin Hotel. You were already too busy to visit before. I’ll be a burden… I don’t mind staying in hiding.”
“Nonsense! You shall not be subjected to such thoughts and plans. The hotel has plenty of room or you can stay with me! Nowhere is safer. I assure you.” Alastor smiled. The two of you turned to Charlie who immediately nodded her head to support Alastor’s claims. “See? Our dear princess is a kindhearted soul, she wouldn’t turn you away even if you begged!”
“As long as I’m not a bother.” You spoke softly, your smile returning
“Never, my dear.” Alastor got up, guiding you to the staring members that were watching the entire scene silently without so much as a peep. “Allow me to introduce to you, this is my human friend whom I’ve been visiting since forever! Due to some accident, death has come too early.”
You introduced yourself, bowing a bit as you greeted everything. “Hi there, I’ve heard a lot about you guys from Alastor. He’s quite talkative about the project to redeem demons.”
Alastor watched as the wayward souls warmed up to you as he expected quickly, formally introducing themselves and denying anything that would paint them in a bad light in your lovely eyes. When you giggled and laughed along, he knew you’d enjoy yourself
It was only after everyone turned in for the night and you were sleeping peacefully on his bed without sadness or reminsice of that soul, that he summoned his minions and he let out his wrathful order, “Keep an eye out for that no good lover and bring LK to me alive the moment LK falls.” The shadow minions all scattered, some even escaping to Earth if they could to spy on LK and his inevitable death. “That thing will serve as the perfect courting gift.”

Okay besties, I have an idea for you;
AU where the justice league was rooted in a small town; everyone knows everybody and no one knows anyone. Not really. But them? Oh, they know eachother.
They knew Clark and Bruce would tie the knot right after graduation.
They knew Diana would take new York museums by storm. They knew Hal would grow into his dad's aviator jacket. They knew Barry would wear gold around his neck in the Olympics. They simply knew.
Except for the fact that Clark had no idea Bruce would go on to divorce him just to marry an old sparring buddy, -- Khoa something; he doesn't know to this day, and he refuses to learn, -- for reasons he wouldn't divulge.
And bruce didn't anticipate his ex husband being the one who would investigate his husband's murder.
Funny how death brings people together.
Not until Dick, their boy, his boy, too, - He's Jon and Kon's brother just as much as he's Jason's, Tim's, and Damian's, and no piece of shit paper could take that from him, - told him, a bone white paleness to his cheeks the day of his weekend.
Their home is chaos; Not a chaos he knows, a chaos he loves, but a disservice on their once home.
Four different cars parked in front of Bruce's manor, dark enough to blend in the depth of night, give Clark a pretty good idea of what he'll find.
" This is bad. This is really bad, right? Oh god, is he moving? He just looked at me, I SWEAR he just looked at me,--"
'' Who gave Barry coffee?" Clark doesn't want them to be shocked when he enters, because really, he's not supposed to be here. The spark of twisted pleasure when they see him Is small, but it's there. " Who died?"
Hal skips over the corpse currently occupying the living room carpet, a frenzy in his eyes, " We do NOT have time for your shit, Kent. It's bad enough Wayne dragged us along to his little graveyard shift,--"
Clark doesn't particularly want to know who's that Oliver tosses Russian words with over the phone, but he takes a pause, only to point sharply at the pilot, " As if you have anything better to do you plane crushing fuck--"
" One time! One time!"
" Quiet down! You're upsetting Bruce," Command and order came to Diana as naturally as flight does to birds; Out of them all, -- jaded and secretive and wore out by life like a pair of shoes, -- she holds the crown of stability for sure.
Clark envies her. Maybe because she's her, or because she has an arm around Bruce.
He's tired; And scared. Clark's pretty little ghost.
Blanket over his lean, strong shoulders, knees nestled to his chest, shivering under Diana's arms. His eyes haven't left the living room.
Not until Clark walked up to the bottom of the stairs, where he could catch a better view of purple and blue rendering Bruce's sharp cheek.
There's something undeniably demure about Bruce Wayne; Youngest of them, softest of them. Clark adored it; He's always been a beast of a man, -- granted, raised with Martha Kent's southern loving ways, but you can't make a puppy from a wolf.
Bruce very much disagreed, and told Clark as such. That they compliment eachother.
Clark can't help but be sad at Bruce's softness now; But he's not stupid enough to think Bruce weak, and God help you if you're that man. Maybe Khoa was that man.
Bruce's eyelashes flutter like a butterfly's wings, " ...Clark." You came.
" Hi, baby." You called.
He closes his eyes, silently letting embarassment take him. Hal facepalms behind him.
" Not to interrupt your weird Eye Make Out slash Emotional Hug contact, but seriously, we need to call the police!"
" No!" Bruce raises to his feet, fingers twisting and fiddling, a nervous habit. Clark wants to capture him in his arms and never let him move, " No. No police."
Diana's voice is gentle, " Why not?"
" Because he did it!" Hal says, " I mean, it's pretty obvious!"
" Oh shut the fuck up-"
" That's absurb--"
" Hal, you're scared I get it, but Bruce would never,--"
" I did," Bruce declares, sentencing them to silence. " I did it. "
A tension filled cloud slowly drips over them. Hal begins pacing even more. Barry joins him. Oliver's yelling gets louder, and the Bruce's fingers shake worse.
Clark, wordlessly, pulls him upstairs, hands gentle on his smaller wrists, ignoring the call back from downstairs, where death still lingers.
Bruce won't look at him when he asks, " Did you do it? Really?"
" He was going to hit me."
" He was already hitting you," Clark spits the hateful truth, acid hissing over his tongue like a well-sharpened knife, " He was already hitting you. And you didn't kill him then. "
A shiver, a tremble, Bruce turning his back as if to protect himself. Clark's heart hurts. He's never been someone Bruce needed protection from, " Please, --"
" So you were either going to stop him from hitting you... Or from hitting someone else," Bruce's frame moves from him, departs again, and Clark follows, because he let Bruce walk away one time and it got them here, " ...Or someone was gonna stop him from hitting you."
Bruce freezes, gaze wide. Only he's not looking at Clark. He's looking at what's behind him.
Clark follows the line of sight.
There's Jason, their youngest, their tallest, terrified, and teary, and blood soiling his hands.

Only a Genius could Love a Woman like Her
Pairing: Ron Kamonohashi x Detective!Reader

Warning: mention of body, murder, serial killer (idk if this should be added but just in case 👍)
Fuyuu-chan: My first time writing a detective fic so yeah, also a big thank you to @mayaree-darling for being my proofreader and for helping me 💙 (love you mwah). Anyways enjoy reading! 😚

Tumblr media
Tumblr media
(Name) is one of the top detectives out there, known for being very intelligent. A lot of people had been talking about her mostly because she had solved a lot of cases.
She's also a person you can trust, very friendly as well. All of the people in her investigation squad are her friends. She’s even close with other investigation team members, like Isshiki Totomaru.
Totomaru actually wondered who is the most intelligent - is it you or Ron, his friend that he made a few months ago that was also intelligent and a former student in BLUE.
Well that might get answered today as there was a new case involving a serial killer again.
You bumped into Totomaru in the mall and ended up hanging out. He tells you that he wanted to introduce you to someone he was gonna meet up with when you heard someone scream and of course out of instinct you and him hurry to where the noise came from.
And there you saw a body on the ground and a saleslady, judging by her uniform. The saleslady was sitting on the ground, looking terrified. Who could blame her, the people around look just as afraid. Totomaru looks shocked but you remain unfazed about it, probably because you've seen so many bodies before that you've grown used to it.
You called the police and after that you glanced at the body, observed the surroundings. When you turn back to the body, a man was lying next to it. "What are you doing? And who are you? This is a restricted area," you said to the man, but he seems to be saying something to the corpse.
Then Totomaru came towards you. "Ah, sorry Miss (Name). This is my friend, Ron Komonohashi. He's an acquaintance of mine, and he always does that. He's also the person I wanted for you to meet, the one I've been talking about," he said as he rubbed the back of his neck.
"I see...so that's him," you looked back at the man whose name is Ron. He got up and went towards you.
"You’re a detective right? You look pretty" he said as he smiled. "I've noticed a few details that might have happened here.”
"Oh? Well can I hear it? It might add on the details I've already taken note of," you said as you showed your notebook.
"Wait, you already took notes?" Ron asked.
"Of course," you said. "Also I believe this case is also part of the new serial killer based on how the victim died and that card next to the body, it's what that serial killer does whenever they strike again," you explained as you look at the body.
"As expected of the highly praised and famous detective," Totomaru smiled at you, his eyes shining with admiration.
"Although, I don't think you've gone near the body... how did you..?" Totomaru said, confused.
"Wait, she didn't go near the body?..." Ron said as he looked at Toto and back to you.
"I don't need to since I already saw everything I needed to see," you said as you shrugged. You never really needed to go near the body since you had sharp eyes; only needing to in complicated cases do you have to approach the body but most of the time you don't. It's one of the things your admirers admire about you.
"Sugoiii" Totomaru said, his eyes shining again. "So that's what all your fans have been talking about, I can finally see you in action during the investigation!" he added.
Ron was quiet the entire time, caught off guard. First, you were fast at taking notes about the details, second you didn't have to go near the body because of your sharp eyes and third, the fact that you already connected this case to the other, when most of the detectives he knew took a long time to realize these things. You were clearly different, you were fast and serious about your job.
Ron looked at you and analyzed you for a bit. You looked casual, friendly, approachable, but there is something about you that he can't put his fingers on, something he feels about you that he can’t place yet.
He was so busy thinking he didn't realize the police were already there. You were smiling for some reason. He realized he didn't investigate again, and got distracted by thinking of you. But then you spoke up saying you figured it out, making him even more shocked than before.
He listened as you explained and deduced the entire case. Finally, you point out the killer, which was the saleslady who "discovered" the body. You showed proof that she's the one who did it, only proven when she had one of the pieces of evidence on her.
As she was cornered by you she had no choice but to fall down to her knees and admit she was the one who murdered them all. You notice in your peripheral vision Totomaru leading Ron outside for safety purposes and for no accidents to happen again like any other case he'd been in.
After everything is solved and done you go outside to see the two of them talking.
"Ah, Miss (Name), is everything done?" Totomaru said as he looked at you.
"Yes," you answered.
"That's good to know...also, I'm sorry for not helping" he said as a sweat dropped.
You sighed. What had Amamiya done to this boy that he was sweating like this? Had she been scolding him that much? You thought to yourself as you waved him off.
"Nah it's good, I handled it anyways and besides it's your day off and this is my investigation squad area. No need to feel bad."
He sighed in relief, he thought you would scold him. "You're so nice, Miss (Name). Thank you," he said.
"No need to thank me... also, stop with the formalities. The job is over, anyways," you said as you finally looked at Ron only to meet his gaze already on you.
"Wanna have some coffee?" Ron asked.
"Hmmm? Well I guess I could use some coffee break, so sure," you said as you smiled.
Then the three of you set off to go to the nearest coffee shop. Once you all arrived you ordered your drinks and snacks and picked a seat in one corner. Ron breaks the silence "You were really good back there, I can't believe you solved that so easily."
You chuckled. "It was obvious, the girl already showed signs from the very beginning."
"She did?' they both asked at the same time.
"Yep," you said. Just in time, you hear the counter call the number for your order.
Totomaru said he would get the drinks so you and Ron were left alone. "Tell me, Ron, why were you so distracted earlier? I noticed you didn't get to solve it, either," you said.
"Huh..? What do you mean?" he said, caught off guard.
"You were looking around even while I was explaining the murder and the evidence, so it was pretty obvious,” you tap your fingers on the table. “But you’re probably wondering how I knew you were the one solving the cases when Totomaru “handles” the situation, right?”
Ron nodded. You turned to where Totomaru was and saw there was a line to get the order, so you looked back at Ron. "Don't tell it, Totomaru but knowing him, he wouldn't know how to solve difficult cases. When I heard what Chikori Monki the journalist told me about Totomaru’s attitude and reaction during the coffee shop case,it just confirmed it for me. Even Amamiya is surprised he gets to solve cases like that."
You looked back at where Totomaru is and back at Ron again. "And then I heard you were always with Totomaru in those cases, it clicked that you were the one solving those and telling it to him. I also heard you were a former student in BLUE, Totomaru mentioned meeting one of the professors there; well...late professor. You have my condolences," you continued.
Ron was silent the entire time, you know so much about him. "Did you research about me?" he asked.
“Not really. There was no need. I get all my information from stories Totomaru tells me, even if he leaves your name out of it. I heard your name a long time ago in BLUE, I just remembered recently. Finally, I heard from my friend Kawasemi about you and he just confirmed it for me when I told him.” you wave your phone around, showing your recent chat with the detective. Ron is stunned.
"That's a lot of information you have there," he said, chuckling nervously.
"Of course, I have to know things about the people I interact with," you said as you smiled innocently.
"Ah...wait...don't tell me you know about the-" he was about to ask when you cut him off.
"Oh, Totomaru is here... and to answer, yeah." you said as you looked at Ron and to Totomaru who was approaching with a tray in hand with all of your drinks and snacks.
Ron looked at Totomaru who set the tray down on the table. "Thank you for getting the order," you said as you grabbed your drink and snack.
"Thank you as well for treating us Mis- ah (name)" Totomaru said as he rubbed the back of his neck.
"You're welcome" you said as you took a sip of your drink.
"Wait..don't change the topic, how'd you know about that?" Ron said as he looked you in the eyes.
"Umm it's obvious? I notice a lot of things other people don’t, especially like earlier. Besides, when Totomaru tells me about his cases, or I hear the police talking about recent cases, I ask about details. And one thing the other police always mentioned was something happening at the end of a case: when the killer is found, a man would pressure them, but Totomaru would always manage to save the day.” you took a bite on your snack.
"Huh..?" Totomaru looks puzzled when you say that.
Ron just looked speechless. How could you know every little detail?
"Wait, Toto, don't tell me you lead me outside earlier because she told you to?" Ron turned to Totomaru and asked.
"...Umm, yeah, (Name) told me to. She said we should both go outside and I should look over you.." he said as he recalled what you told him earlier as he held his chin.
Then Ron suddenly looked at you with wide eyes and Totomaru gaped at you. "Hold on a minute, you knew from the very beginning? Is this what you’ve been talking about?"
"Not quite the very beginning, but yeah, some of it. I didn’t want any problems. And besides, I don't want that happening under my care. If you don't want whatever is going on with you and the culprit to happen then make sure to go outside or somewhere far away after Totomaru voices your deduction," you said as you looked at him unfazed. You were expecting him to react like this anyway.
Ron looks at you, completely floored. Here you were, basically aware of half his life, retelling it to him casually. Totomaru looked confused still, but then it clicked after a few minutes of silence.
"Wait, she knew everything? You knew?" Totomaru said as he looked at Ron and then you repeatedly, looking for an answer. So you explained everything to him again.
"Wait, but you never knew much about me and don't ask people about me," Totomaru said but you just shushed him
“That’s just what you think,” you chuckled as you sip your coffee. “Besides the more I heard about Ron, the more I thought he was interesting.”
After that you and Ron got close especially after knowing everything. He took his time with you, getting to know you almost as much as you knew him. Ron also found out you were also good at self defense after one of the killers in one case attacked. He saw how you handled it. He thought about it before, when he first met you, but you were a bit scary...
As time passes, you, Ron, and Totomaru had cases that all of you would investigate together. You and Ron took this chance to compete (in a good way) on who'd be the first to solve the case. Totomaru actually couldn't believe you and him would hold competitions even during times as serious as this but eventually he got used to it. Most of the time, you win because you distract Ron, but at the same time Ron does the same to you and that makes you lose to him.
You said you would defeat him in other cases, and there is no problem in finding some cases because every time you three are together somehow there is always a murder and if not probably theft or other things. Ron seemed happy to solve more cases; sometimes you were, too, but at the same time you find it rather concerning...
While in the past everyone saw only Ron and Totomaru, now they see (Name), Ron, and Totomaru together. People even said that Totomaru looked like a third wheel to you and Ron, especially with how you got along. Some even said that you and Ron looked like enemies to lovers as you two would always "fight" in investigations.

Hi!!! Could I please request an aloy x sibling reader headcannons please for their protective relationship please?
RAHHH ALOY RAHHH
Two Peas In A Pod | Sibling!Aloy Headcanons
Tumblr media
╰┈➤ PLOT: Headcanons of Aloy as your sibling
╰┈➤ WARNINGS: Not Proofread, No Use of Y/n, Cursing, Mentions of Loss, No Mercy Aloy, Lower Case Intended
⍣ ೋ Enjoy!⍣ ೋ
Tumblr media
– older or younger than you, aloy is protective as hell and dares for someone to mess with you
– because you're related, you would be shunned as well and the close-minded Nora would talk about you behind your back
– gossip is inevitable and something aloy can't prevent, but she sure as hell can knock someone out for talking ill of you
– you don't like the talk either, but there's no reason to fight someone about it
– again, younger or older, aloy would totally tease, question, and bug you about you liking someone or having a partner
– at first, she'll act disgusted about the thought of you being romantic with someone, but then she'll grow to like the person
– y'know... after she investigates and spies on them to see if they're good enough for you
– older sister aloy is very protective, can be quite stern and goofy, but younger sister aloy is unhinged (as all younger siblings are)
– younger sister aloy would dump water on you when you're not expecting, purposely go out of her way to give you mild heart attacks, and never leave your side
– no matter the age gap or difference between you two, aloy is always bugging you about the questions that burn in her head
– she would ask rost, but she's been banned from asking him so many questions throughout the day.
– it's not like her questions are serious (some are, but she and rost discuss those later)
– a lot of her questions are questions she already knows the answers to. aka, the reason why rost banned her from asking so many questions
– okay okay
– when you guys are out training or out in dangerous parts of the world, aloy wants you to never leave her side and will constantly turn to check on you
– you two would walk for maybe a couple of feet, then her head snaps towards you to make sure you're safe
– twig snap? she heads towards you and her hand is already gripping your arm to stay close
– if you slip away to gather some healing plants or to, y'know, take a shit, all hell would break loose in aloy's mind
– "where are they?" "where did they go?" "they better be alive otherwise I'm killing them myself" "oh please be alive." "wait... is that them?"
– once she finds you, she's relieved but then swatting the crap out of your shoulder.
– "you can't run off like that! you could've died." – "but i didn't! :D"
– she would complain about you to rost when you gather to eat, but aloy complains about you wandering off so much that rost has learned to tune her out.
– if you ever get captured, aloy is slaughtering anyone in her way.
– if you know TLOU, think of a really aggressive ellie who after she gets the information she needs, murders the person when she's done with them
– in a fiery rage after seeing you locked in a cell or cage, all aloy can hear is ringing in her ears and her mind clouded with angry thoughts
– she's already lost rost, she can't lose you too. you're the only family she has left
– after getting you out from whatever containment you find yourself in, aloy goes silent.
– you think she's mad at you, but she's not. shes processing over the fact that bad things can happen to you. she thought those types of thoughts were her anxiety talking, not an easily accessible reality.
– when she's done processing, she's emotional and hugs you.
– you're definitely bruised from the hugs, but aloy doesn't care
– that moment on, she declares to never, ever, let you out of her sight
– you're valuable to her, this she already knew
– but when she thought she was going to lose you, life didn't seem worth living.
– a life without you, a world without you, a universe without you, seemed dull, boring, sad, and grey to aloy.
– like it or not, you're aloy's world and she would be stupid to let you slip through her fingers.

when Emma falls in love [from the vault]
Tumblr media
Summary: When Emma falls in love, I know that boy will never be the same | When she came to Storybrooke, finding love was the farthest thing from Emma's mind. Until she started to get to know Ian, the bartender down at the Rabbit Hole. A crush is the last thing she needs—not when she's in the middle of a murder investigation and her son keeps talking about curses. Or maybe it's exactly what both of them need. [Inspired by "When Emma Falls In Love" by Taylor Swift] A/N: This is the next in my series of fics inspired by Taylor Swift's vault tracks (mostly from Speak Now (Taylor's Version), but there will be more!). Wanted to post this before we all died from TTPD tomorrow ;) I think this is also my favorite of the ones I've written so far; hope you like it, too! And, as always, thank you to @optomisticgirl for being the best beta ever. rated T | 6.2k words | AO3
When the door swung open, Emma was half expecting it to be someone from downstairs yelling at her to stop her pacing; too many years living in crappy apartments had done that to her. But it was just Mary Margaret, coming home from work.
That said— “Uh, you okay? If you pace any harder, you’re gonna wear a hole in the floor,” her roommate remarked.
“Ugh, sorry,” Emma answered, taking a seat at one of the barstools at the counter. “It was that or attacking the toaster again.”
“You didn’t get fired again, did you?” Mary Margaret asked as she set a bag of groceries on the counter. “‘Cause last I checked, you were your own boss.”
Emma scoffed. “No; just…other stuff.” She swallowed. “Boy stuff?” (She wasn’t sure why she said it like it was a question, other than the fact that she’d never been one to talk about relationships or anything—never had anyone she could talk to about that, so she wasn’t sure if this was the right way to start.)
“Well, that’s convenient,” Mary Margaret said, and reached into the paper sack. “I bought wine,” she finished, pulling out a cheap screw-top bottle of rosé.
“Might need more than that.”
“Good thing I got two,” she answered, producing another.
They curled up at opposite ends of the couch, not even bothering with wine glasses. After a few (hefty) sips, Mary Margaret looked at her pointedly and Emma was suddenly very aware of why her students respected her so much. “Okay. Spill.”
Emma sighed, but obliged. “Okay, you know the bartender down at the Rabbit Hole?”
“Not well, but I know who he is. Ian, right?”
“Yeah, Ian Johnson. He, uh…I mean, I…” She hummed. “I think I like him.”
“Oh my god, you sound like one of my fifth graders,” Mary Margaret replied. “You’re attracted to him? Or maybe a little more?”
Emma took another pull from her bottle. “Maybe a lot more.”
“I sense a ‘but’ coming.”
(His ass was fantastic, but that was beside the point.) “But…you know how I am. My history. It hasn’t really been that long since Graham…” She still had a hard time saying died.
“I know,” Mary Margaret said softly. “No one says you have to rush into anything. But if you’re feeling something, it doesn’t hurt to pursue it. Especially if he seems to reciprocate.”
Well, that was her other conundrum, wasn’t it: did he? Much like her, he wasn’t really prone to showing emotion—not noticeably, at least; he wore an air of apathy as well as he did his dark-wash jeans. In fact, she didn’t give him much thought after she first met him—when she’d been called to the bar to drag Leroy to the drunk tank on one of her first overnight shifts as a deputy.
She’d definitely seen him, though; Ian was certainly easy on the eyes—perfectly disheveled hair above light blue eyes, just the right amount of gingery stubble, and a hint of chest hair visible through the open vee of his appropriately tight henley—but her thoughts towards him didn’t go deeper than the surface. She also hadn’t missed the quick once-over he gave her, though she couldn’t tell if it was in appreciation or merely assessment.
It wasn’t until her following visit (Leroy’s next trip to the station’s overnight accommodations) that he did more than hum at her, but there was very little effort in the casual pickup line he threw at her (and she did her damnedest to ignore the lilt of his foreign accent).
She knew his kind—or so she thought: the type of asshole who hid behind a pretty face and a quick come-on and that was all it took to get into a girl’s pants. Frankly, that was something she’d fallen for a few too many times, but not here—not in Storybrooke. Not when Regina was constantly looking for a reason to send her out of town (even if she won that sheriff election fair and square, Gold’s involvement notwithstanding) or limit her time with Henry.
It wasn’t until the first time she got a call at the bar after Graham died that she exchanged more than passing pleasantries with him. Ian wasn’t the first to express his condolences, but he was the first to say, “It’s just not fair.” That was exactly how she felt, too. And that’s when things started to shift between them.
(Apparently, he and Graham went way back—he didn’t specify how far, but it sounded like a while, the kind of vague forever that seemed prevalent in such a small town. Graham had helped him out of a few scrapes, and vice versa. “He was a good man,” Ian had concluded. “Seems those always go too soon.” It felt like there was more to go with that statement, but then “Only the Good Die Young” had come on the jukebox and it was a little too on the nose and she had to get out of there.)
But it really took a turn the night he intervened while she was breaking up a bar fight, getting in the way of a drunken punch meant for her and taking it in the cheek instead. (That was also the night she finally noticed his left arm ended not in a hand, but a prosthesis, as she made the assailant wait in the squad car while she put together an ice pack for Ian’s face; she also found out that night that he mixed a mean whiskey sour.)
So they were…she wasn’t sure if they could really say “friends” after that—not quite a team, either; allies, maybe? Whatever it was, it was definitely something she needed.
She started to run into him at Granny’s after that. The first time, she was getting her morning coffee before heading into the station; he was getting some tea before heading home after closing the bar. Then they’d see each other at lunch hour; if the diner was full, they shared a booth. But then that became something of a habit, too, on the days he didn’t close and she didn’t work overnight (though they eventually started another of sharing a drink at the end of their late-night shifts).
Admittedly, it was a little awkward at first; Emma had never been great at the whole small-talk thing (and even worse at the making-friends thing)—but on the bright side, so was he. She found out little things, like when a favorite song would come on (“Behind Blue Eyes” was up there, unsurprisingly/heartbreakingly), or when she’d ask for a liquor recommendation (rum—always rum). She let slip at one point how much she enjoyed Motown, and he quickly picked up on her hot chocolate order.
More solid information came to light later; as she’d guessed, he was a loner, too—no family left, and had drifted around England and the US until he ended up in Storybrooke, somehow. He made an appreciative comment about her being a fellow jailbird over a beat-up copy of that awful article in the Mirror, but his face fell when she mentioned how old she’d been—a rare emotional moment for him. (But not as intense as when she’d commented on the tattoo on his forearm late one night, and the unmistakable look of loss took over; all they could do at that point was make a toast to living through heartbreak.)
It was…she didn’t want to say easy, but it was nice—there were no expectations, no responsibilities. Just the pleasure of each other’s company, and a sense of kindred comraderie.
She was also aware, but ignoring the fact, that the less she knew, the better. There was less chance that he was lying to her or holding something back; less chance for him to get disappointed in who she was. (Less chance to be hurt.)
“He does, right?” Mary Margaret’s question dragged her back to the present.
Which brought Emma to the downside of being attracted to someone whose walls abutted hers: it was hard to get a read on what was going on in his head, especially when he wasn’t outwardly expressive (more than when they first met, but it was still rare). All she could do was shrug at her roommate and take another pull of wine.
“Yeah, he’s always come off as kind of aloof,” Mary Margaret agreed. “Not altogether unfeeling—more like, not a lot?”
Emma was the last person to make any comments there. What was it she’d said to Graham? “Not feeling anything is an attractive option when what you're feeling sucks.” They both had reason enough for that.
“But it looks like you’ve gotten closer to him than anyone in a while,” her roommate went on, “and vice versa?”
“More or less,” Emma conceded. “Present company notwithstanding.”
“I’m honored. And you know what I say about hope,” she answered.
Emma did, but wasn’t sure she was ready to say she was that far in. She extended the end of her bottle to Mary Margaret, who clinked her own against it in solidarity.
By the end of the night, she had no further clarity on the situation and the beginnings of a hangover. Maybe she was overthinking it—or maybe it wasn’t even worth overthinking; it’s not like these things ever worked out in her favor anyway.
But…she did keep thinking about hope.
———.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.———
Her friends eventually dragged her out to the Rabbit Hole for a girls’ night. They’d cited the fact that she missed all the excitement on Valentine’s Day, with Ashley’s engagement, so she needed to make up for it.
Despite still being new to the whole having-female-friends thing (having any friends, really), she had fun. Ian poured the drinks strong and sent more than a few small, sideways grins her way as he watched her dance with the others. She was hoping her subsequent blush could be blamed on exertion or alcohol, except—
“Oh my god,” Ruby yelled at her as they returned to their booth for a refreshment. “Just go screw him already.”
“Excuse me?”
“You’ve been eye-fucking the bartender all night! Go do something about it!”
Well, now her cheeks surely matched her bright red dress—and, to make it worse (or better, Ruby would probably say), when she glanced over at Ian a moment later to see if he’d heard, he was smirking and raised an eyebrow as soon as she caught his eye.
(They hadn’t crossed that line yet but—it had been close. She’d been all too aware of the proximity of their lips when she was helping him shut down last week and they’d collided in the back hall—her hands on his firm chest, his coming to her waist, the dart of her eyes to his mouth—she’d basically sprinted out of there.)
There was definitely an itch to scratch, but she wasn’t about to go there with him. Because she knew, with him, it would be so much more than that. (And if he didn’t reciprocate…that would be even worse.)
“So I hear you’ve been hanging out with the bartender,” Regina asked her one day after she dropped Henry off at the mayor’s house.
Emma shrugged. “I guess,” she answered, downplaying whatever it was they had—if only because she had a feeling Regina would find a way to weaponize it.
(Also, he was good with Henry—like, really good, maybe even better than she was. For someone who didn’t appear to care much about…anything, he always seemed to brighten and engage so much more around her kid whenever they ran into him at Granny’s. He even indulged Henry’s theories about the “curse”, but her son hadn’t decided who Ian was in this supposed other life. Emma didn’t have any ideas, either, if only because that meant Ian was the one person safe from Henry’s childlike scrutiny.)
“Even with everything he’s done?”
That got her attention. “What has he done?”
“More like what hasn’t he done; you’re the sheriff—you could look up his rap sheet. He’s got some blood on those hands—well, hand. Has he even mentioned how that happened?”
“No,” Emma said stiffly. “He hasn’t.”
“I don’t suppose he’s mentioned anything about his ex either, then. Who was married.”
“Uh, no.”
“Well, maybe you should look into it—so you can be aware of just who you’re allowing around my son.”
The mayor pointedly closed the door at that, leaving Emma alone with her thoughts—never a good combination. She was mulling it over on the drive to the station—how much did she actually believe what Regina was saying?
But her curiosity was too piqued to let it rest. She felt like the biggest asshole, but after she got settled for the start of her shift, she ended up in the records room, particularly in front of the drawer labeled H–J.
As much as she didn’t want to—she had to know. She slid the drawer open and dug through the folders, until she found the one near the back labeled Johnson, Ian Brennan.
It was thick.  His ‘jailbird’ comment from a while back returned to her; she thought he’d been joking at the time.
She didn’t look inside until she was in her office, with the door shut—not that she expected any visitors, least of all him (he was working anyways), but she still felt like she was doing something wrong, even if she had perfectly legal access to these files.
She took a deep breath and flipped it open.
Ian was glaring at her from the photo paper-clipped to the stack of forms—a bit younger, a bit angrier than the man she knew, with a fire in those blue eyes she’d never seen, even from behind a layer of guyliner and shaggy bangs.
Beneath it, typed out, it listed his name, birthdate (although the year was smudged beyond recognition), that he was born in England, and a charge for drunk driving.
The next sheet: illegal possession of a firearm.
The next several that followed included a handful of drug-related charges, mostly involving the transporting of them.
The last page said manslaughter.
She slammed the folder shut and threw it in the empty bottom drawer of her desk.
In vain, she tried to pretend she hadn’t seen it. Maybe someone planted it there? She wouldn’t put it past Regina, though as to why, she couldn’t guess. The comments about an affair, though—she’d done the whole dating-a-married-guy thing; it hadn’t ended well, but it still wasn’t something she was keen on.
For the next week or so, she managed to avoid him—took all her Granny’s orders to go; sent Ruby to deal with anything at the bar; and one time, ran down an alley when she saw him coming the opposite way down the sidewalk. (She didn’t say she was mature about it…or subtle.)
When she got home later that week, there were two bottles of rosé on the counter again. “My turn,” Mary Margaret said, handing one over.
Was infidelity just a thing here? Because now her roommate was dealing with it, too. Emma’s opinion of David wasn’t the highest at the moment—he couldn’t string her best friend along and stay with his wife—but the longer Mary Margaret pursued this, the more heartache it was gonna cause.
“Thanks for talking to me about it,” she said, halfway through the bottle. “What about you? How are things with Ian?”
Emma took a long, long drink.
“Gotcha,” Mary Margaret said knowingly.
———.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.———
It came to a head when she was in the station one morning, having arrived to her shift early in order to avoid seeing him at the diner. She was dealing with some paperwork when she heard the front door open. “In here,” she called out, assuming it was Regina telling her off for something she hadn’t done right. Footsteps approached. “What would you like to yell at me about today, Madam Mayor?” she asked sarcastically.
“I hadn’t planned on yelling, but I did want to ask why you’ve been avoiding me.”
Oh shit. Ian was there in the doorway, a coffee cup and bag from Granny’s in his hand, and a serious set in his stare.
“I haven’t,” she lied, then turned back to the computer screen (not that it was doing anything—it still ran Windows 98, after all). “I’ve just been busy.”
“See, I’m actually quite perceptive,” he replied, then stepped forward to set the foodstuffs on the corner of her desk. “And this? This is avoiding.”
She closed her eyes and sighed. “Yeah,” she had to admit. They’d always been honest with each other, even if they’d clearly withheld some things. And given how poorly her attempted lie a moment ago went, it would be dumb to try to again.
“What is it, love? Did I do something wrong?”
She opened her eyes to look up at him, and regretted it—he looked genuinely hurt. What she was about to do probably wouldn’t help.
Staying seated, she bent down to open the bottom drawer on her desk, and then pulled out his file. Then she carefully set it in front of her.
He immediately recognized it, she could tell. “Ah.”
“I’m sorry; I was talking to Regina and she said some things and—curiosity got the best of me.”
“I see.”
She couldn’t tell if he was angry or hurt—or both—but either way, she felt like an ass. May as well throw fuel on the fire. “She mentioned something about your ex, too—specifically, her marital status.”
“She did, did she?” His words were suddenly emotionless.
“Is…is that all you’re gonna say?” she eventually asked quietly.
He blinked slowly, as when he opened his eyes, they were just a bit duller—a bit more reserved. (That was worse than anything else she’d seen recently.)
“What else needs to be said, Swan?” he shrugged. “You apparently have all you need to know right there, between that and whatever the mayor has told you.”
His gaze settled somewhere near the floor and silence stretched uncomfortably between them. Even louder to her, though, was the fact he was just…accepting it.
“Seriously?” she snapped. “You’re not gonna defend yourself, or fight back at whatever is incorrect in my assumptions?”
He furrowed his brow. “What good would it do?”
“Show me you give a crap!” she shouted, standing so fast it sent her rolling chair sliding into the wall. “Because I’m trying to figure out whatever the hell this is,” she went on, gesturing between them, “but I can’t tell if you actually care or not.”
Finally, something steely settled in his gaze.
“Not feeling anything is an attractive option when what you’re feeling sucks,” he stated, plainly but pointedly.
She swallowed at the recitation of what she once had said to Graham. She already knew she wasn’t the first sheriff to strike up a friendship with him, but she was probably the only one Ian had thrown their own words back at.
“Yeah, but that doesn’t make it go away,” she countered.
“If you do it long enough, it does.”
“And then what? You just never feel anything for the rest of your life?” God, Mary Margaret was really rubbing off on her—though that didn’t mean her calling him out wasn’t a little hypocritical.
“It had been working well for me.”
“Fine then,” she spat. “You can go back to your lonely existence and I’ll fuck off to mine and we’ll just leave it at that.” She crossed her arms and curled in on herself; she was definitely pouting, but the alternative was flopping back in her seat and crying.
His face relaxed, almost going the other way into a frown. “Bloody hell, that’s not what—no, love, I—I just thought you knew me better than that,” he admitted, almost apologetically.
“Well, apparently I don’t,” she parroted back. “I’m wondering if I know anything about you. This is some serious shit, Ian.”
“And I thought you of all people might understand that,” he said matter-of-factly. “I remember the headlines after you arrived in town; just because you have a badge now doesn’t mean you’ve always been on the right side of the law, either.”
“I’m not pretending I didn’t!”
“Neither am I. I just don’t go broadcasting it, given that I still have the option not to.”
“Yeah, I don’t think I’d be telling people I killed someone either.”
“I—” He started to talk, but then closed his mouth and clenched his jaw. After taking a deep breath, he said, “Not that I really need to, but can I tell you the full story? Before you completely write me off?”
She nodded, but held back what she was really thinking: that she didn’t want him to write himself off.
“I did get into some bad shit,” he started. “My brother was gone, my ex had just died, and I was suddenly an amputee, so I was alone and spiraling. Fell in with the wrong crowd—classic story. Got in deep with a drug ring, and then I got caught. Killed a member of a warring cartel in the process. But, by some miracle, I had a great lawyer. They got a few of the charges thrown out for lack of evidence and I reached a plea deal on the others, along with a heavily reduced sentence for my cooperation in taking down much of the rest of the ring. Did my time, now I’m here. And I regret it every day.”
“Damn.” That was heavier than expected.
“Aye.” He scratched nervously behind his ear. “Anything else?”
She chewed her bottom lip; she was nervous to ask, but she had to. “So, your ex…”
“My ex was married when we met. But it wasn’t a happy marriage. And I didn’t lure her away, or whatever may have been said—she ran off with me. But I loved her, so I went with it. Until her husband found us and went mad. Tried to cut off my hand; stabbed her. Doctors had to take it the rest of the way off,” he explained, raising his prosthesis. “Add that to the list of reasons why I fell in with the wrong people.”
Fuck. “Yeah, that’ll do it.”
“Indeed.” He toyed with the fingers on his false hand for a moment, and then looked back up at her. “But Swan, why couldn’t you just ask me that? Rather than take the word of a woman who we’ve all seen lie to you—to everyone—before.”
She swallowed. “Because I couldn’t take the chance I was wrong about you.”
“Were you?”
It took her by surprise. “Was I what?”
“Were you wrong about me?” He was staring back at her intently, like he hadn’t just asked a simple but potentially earth-shattering question—but also looked like he was bracing for impact.
She nearly stopped breathing. Not that she had planned any part of this conversation, but when she imagined talking to him again, she thought it’d be more about her figuring out whether he’d let her inside his walls. Logically, it was only fair that he did the same; it was just the first time anyone had followed her in—not to mention challenged her once they were there. (Especially not someone with intense blue eyes, bolder than she’d yet seen them.) And she didn’t know how to respond.
“Because I know I’m not the biggest catch or anything—I’m certainly not Graham—” he went on (and apparently knew where to sting her), “and yeah, I probably still drink a bit more rum than is advised, but other than this—” he nodded at the folder, “—I’ve been nothing but honest with you. So now it’s up to you to decide: whatever it is you’re worried about—were you wrong?”
It had been a long-ass time since anyone had been that bluntly honest with her. (And never someone she was interested in.)
He was right—her lie detector had never gone off with him, either. (It also hadn’t when Regina was gossiping, but it was a little less accurate with noticing exaggerations or omissions.)
He’d never really answered her earlier question, though. “I just need to know one thing,” she said as she stepped around the desk. “I’m not alone in feeling…this, right?” she asked, blatantly stepping into his space.
“No,” he confirmed on a breath.
“Then no, I wasn’t wrong. I think what I was actually scared of…was that I was right.”
“Right?”
She grabbed the lapels of his jacket and quickly found his lips, kissing away any further confusion. (As she was finding out, they were both a bit better at nonverbal communication.)
(And he did taste a bit like rum, but—she liked it.)
———.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.———
She wanted to say things changed from there—they took it fast, or slow, or whatever—but in reality, their relationship really didn’t change. There were still the meals at Granny’s, the nights at the bar. She’d never really been a date-night kind of girl. But emotionally—woah.
It was like she was seeing a whole other side of Ian—but at the same time, it felt like it had always been there, just hiding below the surface. It wasn’t a universal thing—he was still a bit reserved while at work, or around just about anyone other than her and Henry—which made what they had feel all the more special.
There were also more than a few makeout sessions sprinkled in there, too. (Being chased out of the back hall of Granny’s by said proprietress, giggling like teenagers, was one of her more cherished memories since arriving here.)
For a short while, it was simple and sweet and it made her happy. For a little bit, she maybe had the kind of life she’d always hoped—with her son, friends, and a guy she really liked.
But it was like the universe noticed or something—no, Emma Swan couldn’t simply have nice things. Shit always, inevitably hit the fan.
Starting with having to arrest and book her roommate for murder.
She texted ahead and he had a shot waiting for her when she got to the bar after, then a couple more after that. She was definitely loitering—and he could tell. “What is it, love? Aside from the obvious.”
One thing she’d realized: he was exceedingly good at reading her, like a book he couldn’t put down.
“I don’t want to go back to the apartment,” she admitted. “It’s not that I’m afraid to be alone, but knowing that she’s in a cell and I’m there—and that someone may have been in the loft—I just…it freaks me out a bit.”
He swallowed. “Forgive me if this is too forward, but…I could go with you,” he offered. “At least to make sure everything is safe.”
“I’d like that.”
The walk to the loft from the Rabbit Hole was short but filled with energy; there was literally no reason for her to be any sort of excited, but she never invited guys back to her place. Even if she had no plans of anything intimate happening, this was something of a big step for her.
Of course, it ended up being anticlimactic—there was nothing amiss in the flat—but she was still hesitant to want to leave his presence, while at the same time not wanting to seem needy or like she was coming onto him in a subversive way.
“I, uh, could sleep on the couch, if you’d feel better,” he offered, doing that adorable nervous scratch behind the ear. Right—it had been a while for him with this kind of stuff, too.
“Um, yeah, I would. Thanks.”
That was the night she learned he snored—but the sound eventually lulled her to sleep, too.
As it did for the next few nights.
Then came the one after she narrowly escaped that crazy Jefferson’s house with Mary Margaret. She was still shaking as she took the stairs to the apartment and almost didn’t notice Ian sitting on the landing, nearly tripping over his feet.
“Swan, what’s wrong? You never answered my texts so I got worried and came here and, well—I wasn’t sure who to call when the sheriff is the one missing.”
She invited him in—or tried to, but she was trembling so much, she could barely get the key in the lock. Not until his steady hand wrapped around hers and helped.
Once inside, she nearly collapsed just closing the door—both out of relief, and because her adrenaline was finally wearing off. But Ian caught her. And for the first time in years, she let herself be comforted by someone else. (She didn’t cry—she wasn’t ready for that kind of vulnerability yet—but this was kind of a big deal.)
“Do you want me to stay on the couch again tonight?” he murmured when she began to sway, fatigue winning over. She shook her head into his shoulder. (Also: he smelled good. Like, real good.) “Should…should I go?” She shook her head again.
Emma wasn’t a spooner. She took what she needed and then she left. But that was the night she understood why people enjoyed it so much. And waking up still wrapped in his strong arms was a kind of comfort she hadn’t known existed.
There was a brief—but weird—reprieve from the emotional heaviness when it turned out Kathryn Nolan was miraculously alive (despite her heart supposedly being outside her body), and then they held a party to welcome Mary Margaret back home. She shared (more than) a few drinks with Ian after the former; their first official outing as a couple, if it could be called that, was the latter. Mary Margaret arched an eyebrow and smirked at her as she and Ian moved around the kitchen getting ready. Emma just blushed—and then blushed harder when Ian pressed a quick kiss on her cheek as he stepped past her.
Then August kind of went crazy—his offer of help in dealing with the Regina-Sidney-whatever turned into another journey of emotional whiplash. She slumped onto what had become her usual stool at the bar, just a few minutes before close. Ian put some tea in front of her rather than anything stronger and took her upstairs after he’d locked up. He lived there, apparently, in a pretty spartan studio apartment.
“Tell me,” he said gently. Not long ago, she would have brushed something like that off—but not anymore; not with him.
“I’m just tired of all this crap. Not just Regina—the whole curse thing, too. It was fine when it was Henry and I could play along, but now August? And he just—expected me to solve his problem? Just like that? No—no way.” She sighed. “It’s like everyone wants something from me or to fit some role; no one wants just Emma.”
“Ah, that’s where you’re wrong,” he teased lightly. “Because I do.”
Well. She couldn’t argue with that.
And it became all the more obvious when she attacked his lips—and realized the rest of him was in agreement. She’d hesitated to take their relationship to that level; physical relationships were what she was used to, but adding in the emotional layer was something else—something more.
But, as she learned, that was in a good way.
And while drifting off into a post-coital slumber while wrapped in Ian’s steady arms, she didn’t really care what went on in the outside world—as long as she had this.
———.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.———
Should have known that’s when it would all really, truly crash down on her. Henry—god—seeing him in that hospital bed…and not being able to do anything…but it worked: she believed. In magic, the curse—everything. (Especially once Regina confirmed it.)
So now she was on a mission, practically storming from the hospital—when she ran into a pair of arms she’d give anything to just be able to take shelter in right now. “Love—is Henry okay? What’s going on?”
For a minute, she just looked in Ian’s eyes: that now-familiar blue that carried a wisdom beyond his years and echoed his every emotion, so different now from when she’d first met him—but in a good way. The way his worry creased his brow, the weight of his hand on her waist. If the world was about to change, she wanted to memorize him—them—in this moment. “Is everything alright?” he asked again.
She rose up on her toes to give him a firm, but all-too-brief kiss. “It fucking will be,” she told him, then ran off to save the world—or something.
———.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.———
An eternity later (really only a couple hours, but holy shit did it feel longer), she had fought a dragon and then apparently broken a goddamn curse with True Love’s Kiss. All that really mattered was that Henry was okay, but all around her, everyone was coming to terms with what had been done to all of them.
She’d never expected to find out the waitress was a werewolf, or the therapist was a freaking cricket—and really never thought she’d be reunited with her parents. It was amazing, but it was also a lot.
She left Henry with his grandparents—god, grandparents—so she could take a minute and just—breathe.
The salty sea air hit her nose and she realized her feet had taken her to the docks. The view of the sea was soothing, but then she saw someone else there taking in the horizon—someone familiar. He wore the same clothes—the same motorcycle jacket, the black sweater that fit him extremely well, atop his usual dark jeans. But rather than the hand-like prosthesis she’d come to recognize, there was a hook—a freaking stereotypical pirate hook—at the end of his left arm.
(Henry had told her the fairytale counterpart of just about everyone in town—except for Ian. The illustrations in his book were good but maybe not distinct and there were a few options. She had a pretty good idea who it was narrowed down to now, though.)
“Ian?” she asked as she approached, partly to get his attention—and partly because she wasn’t sure who she was talking to.
He turned at the sound of her voice, but looked confused. Until he blinked and shook his head. “Aye, it’s me,” he answered, moving toward her. “My real name, though—it’s Killian, Killian Jones; it…took me a minute there.”
Killian. Similar, but different. It suited him.
But also: Kill-Ian—was the man she held so important now gone, effectively killed by his new—true—self?
“So…how much was real? About you?” she had to ask.
“Some of it.” Apparently that nervous ear scratch carried over. “I am—was—am? A pirate, for decades, until I was caught.”
“Captain Hook?” she wondered, nodding at his prosthesis.
“Ah, so you’ve heard of me,” he smirked. It was similar to the one she knew—the same dimple—but it had a darker edge to it.
“Who hasn’t?” she replied, ignoring the bit of discomfort that was…well, adding to her overall sense of unease.
“The truth—my actual life—is a bit more gruesome than what I once told you. I wanted revenge for the murder of my love. That part was true—she had been the Dark One’s wife, and he killed her, then took my hand.” He emphasized it by toying with the (rather sharp) end of his hook.
Right; Mr. Gold was apparently—actually—a centuries-old sorcerer. “I’m not gonna have to lock you up for going after him, am I?”
“No. See, I got sloppy; I lost sight of things, and that’s how I was caught—by your parents’ kingdom, actually. Was about to be hanged when the Evil Queen’s knight rescued me. Graham.” Her heart skipped a beat. “In return, I offered them my services should they ever need them. Never heard from them again, and then got swept up in the curse.”
She swallowed. “Did she ever take you up on it? During the curse?”
He shook his head. “Never.”
“So, us…” God, she couldn’t even put it into words. If what they’d shared wasn’t…hadn’t meant…she couldn’t fathom.
He very quickly moved into her space and took her hand. “That was very real, Swan.” His gaze had never felt more intense as he went on. “It was my understanding that the curse twisted things—changed us. I had always been someone who felt things very strongly and deeply; it’s why I was so single-mindedly focused on revenge for decades. But then under the curse…I felt nothing—not a bloody thing, for years on end—until I met you, and it all came back. It was like my heart was turned back on—like you brought me back to life.” He rubbed his coarse thumb over the back of her hand. “I know you’re probably questioning things again—especially given that you don’t fully know me, the real version, now—but Emma, I still know you, and I still desperately want you.”
She sighed in relief and nearly sagged into his arms. “Good. Because I think I love you.”
He smiled; it started as a small thing, but he couldn’t hold back from turning into a grin. “That’s appropriate, because I’m fairly certain I love you, too.”
There was a lot she needed to figure out—her life was all kinds of a mess right now—but him—this—whoever he was, he was hers. Even if she didn’t fully know him, it still felt like her heart fit right in the palm of his hand (and vice versa).
She wasted no further time in wrapping her arms around his neck and pressing her lips to his; he was equally quick to reciprocate.
And, actually? Killian kissed even better than Ian did.

This Is A “Give Arthur Kingsmen A Hecking Nap” Propaganda Post
for the @sleepsmackdown poll (link here)
spoilers for Mystery Skulls Animated (which is about 18 minutes long in total over 4 animated music videos (with a 5th coming out very soon!) - please watch it and join us in blorbo hell our small but lovely msa fandom)
let me tell you about Arthur Kingsmen. You may know him as “that twink the sexy skeleton guy was chasing back in 2016″. why was this ghost chasing him? Well!
A group of friends and their dog go to investigate a creepy cave. They split up, Lewis (tall, purple, and fluffy) and Arthur (orange beanpole extraordinaire) go to the left fork and wind up at the top of a cliff over a sea of sharp stalagmites.
Then Arthur gets posessed by a demon, who uses his arm to shove his best friend to his death-by-impalement as he visibly fights it for control. Then whoops! Turns out that dog I mentioned, that little terrier looking pup? He’s actually another demon/yokai that transforms and violently RIPS HIS FUCKIN ARM OFF.

Now because of trauma, Arthur cannot remember this, though he experiences severe PTSD whenever he sees Mystery (who is once again hiding as their pet dog). He doesn’t understand *why* though, and is pushing himself to interact normally with said not-really-a-dog
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(notice the subconscious gripping of his prosthetic whenever he’s triggered by the sight of said pup for added fun :))
I mentioned Arthur didn’t remember the scene in the cave? Well he ALSO DOESN’T EVEN REALIZE HIS BEST FRIEND IS DEAD. He’s on a futile search for a man he thinks is missing and even worse? His other best friend, Vivi (the girl in blue) physically cannot remember anything about Lewis existing.
Tumblr media
Anyway, Lewis, the guy that died? Didn’t realize Arthur was possessed and thinks Arthur murdered him. So he’s out for revenge on a man working himself to the bone trying to find a friend he doesn’t know is even dead. This includes building a murder mansion to chase him through, and when that doesn’t work, stealing a semi-truck and running their van off a cliff and face-first into a brick wall. Then he grabs him from the wreckage and throws him off the same cliff he himself was killed on.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
THIS IS LITERALLY THE MOMENT HE REALIZES HIS FRIEND IS ACTUALLY D E A D.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
so he gets thrown off the cliff as Lewis’ twisted form of karmic revenge
Tumblr media
and only survives because a shotgun blast shorts out the ghost magic moments before impact
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and oh yeah, remember that demon that caused all this mess in the first place? It’s been hopping around in Arthur’s severed arm the whole time. And guess what it finds as its next host?
Tumblr media
MURDER MC FUCKING MYSTERY
Tumblr media
so YEAH I THINK HE NEEDS A FUCKING NAP
in summary, tags courtesy of @nemesis-is-my-middle-name:
#P L E A S E VOTE FOR MY MAN ARTHUR SLEEPIEST IN EXISTENCE #no amount of being a gifted kid or whatever assclassboy has going on is gonna compare to arties insane bullshit #HE LIVES IN A VAN WITH THE DIRECT SOURCE OF LIKE 50% OF HIS TRAUMA #even if he DID think about sleeping for more than five minutes it wouldnt take

Reader defending Teruko from the dogpile of murder accusations in chapter 1?
Reader defending teruko tawaki
A/n:ooooohh this idea was so good, I had so much fun writing this, and I always love an excuse to rewatch drdt
Spoilers for drdt chapter 1
Tumblr media
The first trial had started,no matter how much you didn't want it to happen deep down, you knew that it was inevitable, but you didn't expect it to be like this.
Xander had died, stabbed, in the computer room, a shame, you really liked him and his attitude towards the killing game but the worst thing was that teruko, your girlfriend was found in the room with him also stabbed but thankfully she was alive.
After she woke up she told you everything about how Xander actually tried to kill her but that she didn't kill him, you believed her of course, even if you didn't know why someone like him would do that, unfortunately your classmates didn't have the same trust in her you had.
"H-hang on you've got it all wrong!, how am I Xander's killer?"
"Seriously?, you were at the scene of the crime with the murder weapon in your hand how much more obvious can you get?"
"Not to mention you admitted moments ago to meeting up with Xander in the computer lab where his body was found, you were the last person with him"
"That doesn't make me the killer, Xander was the one who asked me to meet him in the computer lab"
"Do you have any evidence to back up that claim?any witnesses to Xander saying that?"
"I.....i don't.....but still, you have to believe me! Xander is the one who brought the knife and attacked me with it. That knife was taken from the kitchen so he could have accessed it at any time"
"That means little if anyone could have taken the kitchen knife, then it just as easily could have been you who took it"
"Ignoring the fact that you have no proof to back up any of your statements so far.even if Xander was the one to strike first couldn't the two of you have gotten into a fight that killed him?"
You desperately wanted to say something in defense of your girlfriend, but min,Arturo, and Veronika all made great points and you weren't there so you couldn't have known what happened,of course you believed her but you needed evidence to prove her innocence, evidence that could have only come from more discussion,so you silently continued to listen as it went on.
"S-seriously, everyone, you've got it all wrong, I'm not the killer!"
"Can you explain why you had the murder weapon when your bodies were discovered?"
"I.....I'm not too sure. Maybe the killer is trying to frame me,I'm not too sure at this point in time but...please everyone believe me"
At this point, you knew you had to step in at least to support her
"I believe you teruko"
Eden also agreed with you, and teruko seemed to calm down for a moment
"Y/n.."
"Yeah, well, I don't, and I'm sure the only reason you do is cause you love her oh so much"
You wanted to punch arei for her comment but resisted...mainly because your podiums were too far away, so you sticked to words
"I think you need to learn that your opinion isn't the truth just because you yell it louder"
"WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU SAY YOU-"
Before arei could continue hu stepped in
"Let's return to the original topic which was establishing a sequence of events, that should clear up any confusion"
the class recapped what they knew about the events, and you could feel they were leaning even more towards teruko being the culprit as they talked
"Then Arturo and i discovered the body at 8 p.m. we all know what happened after that"
"That story doesn't explain all the evidence at the crime scene! What about the strange DVD or the water on the ground?"
"Does that even matter? Maybe someone was watching some videos and there was a water leak, big whoop! Stop grasping at straws"
Yet another stupid comment from arei made you lose your patience
"She's not grasping at straws, she's bringing up unexplained evidence! Do you even know how an investigation works?"
"If you continue talking to me like that I swear you'll be the next victim"
"Please go ahead, it'll be fun watching your execution from the afterlife"
While you were arguing more accusations went against teruko and she started to panic
"H-hang on! wait a second you're making a huge mistake.....I DIDN'T KILL XANDER!"
She raised her voice, and you looked at her with concern. Unfortunately, the others seemed even more convinced
"Let's vote already and put this trial behind us"
"Seconded. This case is too obvious all the evidence points to her"
"W-wait-"
Your pleading was ignored as monotv finally spoke
"Hm? Voting time already? Wow, that was fast"
"Stop... please for a moment, you're all....wrong.....I didn't.....I didn't kill xander"
Teruko was spiraling, she seemed on the verge of despair you had to help her even without evidence
"Everyone we need to hear her out, we can't vote for her so blindly just because all the clues seem to point in her direction!"
They all ignored you
"I'm sorry, teruko I know you're upset for having been caught, but we have to do this if we don't vote for who the blackend is we'll die"
"......"
"Wait no please we still need to discuss we haven't solved the case completely"
"But we have enough evidence to determine she's the culprit, and she can't defend herself i apologize to you too I recognize this must be hard for you but you have to see that teruko is guilty"
Hu was right you knew she wasn't guilty she couldn't be , but neither you nor her had any evidence to prove it
"......"
You couldn't bear to see teruko in this state she looked so defenseless and despairing the fact they were willing to vote for her when she was clearly innocent made you angry
"Are you seriously going to kill her without even listening to her side of the story?" she got stabbed too. She's another victim here goddammit"
"Y/n please calm down and realize that there's no other way that this makes sense"
"No there is another way! The truth! But, you're all so focused on her that you can't even think about other possibilities!"
"If you're so trusting in her then you surely have some evidence to clear her of suspicion no? Or is it just your emotions speaking?"
"I-i admit I have no concrete evidence, but that's exactly why we have to continue this trial"
"Do you expect us to continue with this trial forever? Just accept that your girlfriend's a murderer and move on!"
As j spoke to you, your mind was getting closer to the pit of despair teruko was already in, you loved her, she could never kill someone, why couldn't anyone else see that?
".........no...I refuse.... teruko isn't the murderer.....I REFUSE TO ACCEPT THAT!"
"Just great now we have two people in denial, hey monotv can you speed this up and let us vote before we all die?"
This was it, you were all going to die teruko wasn't the murderer so all of you except the real killer would die, you didn't even have the strength to say goodbye to her.
...........
...........
..........
"Thank you y/n"
"Ter...uko?"
"Thank you for defending me and making me realize.......what a bunch of fucking morons the others are"
"What?"
"Go ahead and vote for me if you want to end your life that badly, go ahead"
"T-teruko? What's wrong?"
"Have you completely lost it"
"I think the stress of the situation has finally gotten to her"
"Ahahahaha"
The laugh that came out of teruko was maniacal and insane but you really couldn't blame her you would have done the same
"Xander pretended to be my friend just to betray me and try to end my life, you all are the same, without thinking about it, without any concern for my life, you want to call me Xander's killer"
"Wait a second-"
"And what about y/n! They made totally logical arguments, and you just ignored and belittled them just because I'm their girlfriend?, as if the only reason they trust me is because we love each other"
"......."
You were speechless, not only she was defending you but she was also calling out the other's bullshit
"Now I realize I was a fool for thinking we could all work together, the only person i can trust is y/n, they defended me with everything they had while you all were against them, that is true trust and I intend to repay that"
"Teruko....."
"I'm sorry for making you go through that I should have done this a long time ago, but don't worry now......I'll have to prove my innocence with evidence! I'll show you all why I'm not the killer"
As the trial continued, the teruko you saw was someone new, a more confident, even ruthless person, but you knew you could trust her just as she knew she could trust you, even if everyone else was against you two, you would still have each other to love and to trust.

Number 39?
This ask game
TFP Kids timeline. Just them stealing stuff. The prequel to this
"Do we really need to steal oil and salt?" Jack demanded as they found themselves in front of a really fancy kitchen in Wall Sina.
"We'll be in and out before anyone notices we're gone," Rafael reassured as he tried to pick the lock with some metal picks.
"I'm 90% sure that we can just make salt," Jack reasoned.
"Making salt is a lot of work," Rafael retorted before sighing in defeat, "Miko, help."
"Besides, this is just more fun." Miko took the metal picks from Rafael and began to pick the lock herself.
"You guys are really doing too much," Jack grumbled, "If we get caught, we're going to get in trouble."
"It's not like we haven't before," Miko retorted.
"Miko, we're practically aliens on a foreign planet with people who no doubt have it out for us," Jack reminded.
"What? Like Yelena?" Rafael asked.
Jack shuddered at the name. "She creeps me out."
"She creeps all of us out, Jack," Miko retorted, "Any time monkey brain is brought up, it looks likes she fantasizing about-!"
"The fuck are you kids doing here?" All three snapped their heads towards...someone different than what they were expecting. It was a middle aged man wearing a dark trench coat and a dark hat.
Miko narrowed her eyes at the man, who looked...oddly familiar. "Better question is: are you a narc?"
"The hell is a narc?" the man demanded.
"Are you going to snitch on us?" Rafael elaborated a little bit.
The man hummed at the thought. "Depends on what I get."
"Whatever's behind this door," Rafael gestured to the door.
"Are you two seriously about to wrap someone else up, that you don't know, into your crimes?!" Jack demanded.
"Hey, Jack, you're complicit in this," Miko reminded before grinning, "We're doing crimes together. Join us and pick the lock."
Jack tapped his foot impatiently before groaning in frustration. "Give it here."
"Yes!" Miko cheered before handing Jack the picks. The oldest of the trio grumbled in frustration as he began to pick the locks.
"What brings you here?" Rafael asked the man.
"Following tall ass bowl cut," the man answered, "Then I found you three."
"Are you a hired P.I.?" Rafael asked with curiosity.
"P.I.?" the man asked.
"Private investigator," Rafael clarified.
"Something to that effect," the man answered with a shrugged, "Although it was either do this or face certain death."
"You a famous homicidal murderer?" Miko asked.
"I don't want to know the answer to that!" Jack exclaimed as he continued picking the lock.
"Listen to your friend," the man ordered.
"Aw c'mon, we've all murdered some people," Miko reassured.
"I haven't murdered anyone," Rafael recalled.
"We left someone to die," Miko reminded, "That's a fate worse than death."
"You're seriously letting fate decide if someone dies?" The man questioned.
"Ah, so you have killed someone?" Miko smirked, "Because a man who hasn't killed wouldn't be saying it so casual like that."
"Oh my god, shut up all of you!" Jack ordered before he heard a click. The eldest pushed the door open, and all four were met with the sight of luxury foods and rare items.
"Yes, we've hit the motherload!" Miko rubbed her hands together.
"I can't believe we've been reduced to getting excited over something as simple as salt and oil," Rafael sighed.
"You're telling me you don't miss fried food?" Miko raised an eyebrow.
"I do," Rafael said as he walked past Jack, "I just think that it sucks."
"Let's just grab what we need and go," Jack declared as he stood up and he and Miko walked inside.
"Wait! What about-?!" All three snapped their heads to the man opening up a cabinet and grabbing a bottle of wine. He looked back at them with a neutral expression.
"I ain't a narc," the man declared before walking out the room. All three peered their heads out the door, but the man was already gone.
"Doesn't he kind of look familiar?" Miko asked the others, "He kind of looks like Levi."
Rafael thought it over. "A little bit, yeah."
"Guys. Stuff. Now." Jack pointed inside.
"Yes! Potato chips and crime!" Miko cheered.
(I know Kenny is not referenced by name, I just thought it would be funny if the kids and him crossed paths and they didn't know. Anyway 43 has been asked, the rest is free game.)

Jason Todd with a reader who has similar trauma from the Joker? The reader really looks up to him and wants to know how he copes with all of the pain
(I really love your writing, it's hard to find platonic X reader writers out here! 💞)
Jason Todd/Red Hood x reader platonic
Tumblr media
Aww that's and an amazing idea anon and double awwww that means so much to me that you love my writing, I hope you enjoy this one anon :D. word count:1.1K
It's been about a month since Bruce died, but from grief, you, Tim, Dick, Barbara and Jason help continue to keep Gotham City safe as the Gotham knights. But even with this newfound family, there was one bit that Jason continued to struggle with, his past. His death at the hands of the Joker still haunts him to this day, the events replaying in his mind and taking a toll on him. But you always help him see the light when it seems too far away. He was forever grateful to have a friend like you.
But not to Jason's knowledge, you were also affected by the clown prince of crime. When you were only 7 years old, your dad was murdered by him. It was horrifying, to this day you can't think of him without seeing him in your head and also hearing that horrific laugh.
It plagued you no matter where you went, but for the sake of the others especially Jason, you never told them anything, you didn't even tell Bruce before he died.
One night out on patrol, you and Jason were investigating a crime scene that had Harley Quinn written all over it. you thought you could handle it. It was just a crime scene.
"Y/n how's it looking from over there??" Jason asked you as he scanned the footprints to find her.
"I think I got something but I need a bit more time to figure out what chemical it is"
"More than likely it'll be his laughing gas"
Hearing laughing gas sent shivers down your spine, but right now you needed to focus, you needed to find the chemical so you can be able to trace it.
After which you finally detected it.
"Red hood I got it"
"Awesome, your detective work is getting a lot better"
"I could say the same for your less destructive habits" You smirked under the mask.
"Oh come on man that only happened once... Twice"
You snickered as you both got on your bat cycles following the trail back to where it would lead into the abandoned chemical plant where both he and she were born. This night just keeps getting better and better for you.
Grappling into a nearby vent the two then entered inside. Making they're way inside finally. They then find the people Harley has kidnapped.
"Be sharp y/n, she can be very very unpredictable" Jason warned
"G...Got it" You couldn't help but stutter as you continued through the plant.
Now normally Jason would let this slide, but from the tone of your voice and stutter, he knew something was wrong. And come on he's your best friend how could he not see when something is wrong with you. You always looked out for him, when you both head back to the belfry. he was gonna help you.
You both then started to hear scared voices and a cackling giggle from the one and only.
"Play nice boys, or you're gonna meet the same fate as your friends did." She swung her electric mallet just barely touching their faces as a warning.
"You won't get away with this Harley"
"Oh, won't I now ??" She smirked as she began to do shit talk them and tell them her plan.
You and Jason got to the ground as quietly as you could. sneaking to where the kidnapped police officers were. With a nod from Jason, you then lunged at Harley and began to fight her. While she was distracted, Jason then freed the officers and got them out safely and quickly before coming back to you and finishing Harley off.
"You little bat brats !!!"
"It's over Harley, you're going back to Arkham one way or another" Jason cracked his knuckles.
"I'll be sure to put you down 6 feet under and make sure your friend doesn't revive you this time !!!" she cackled as she swung her mallet at you before you quickly dodged it. The cackle triggered you, the memories were flooding back. The sight, the sounds, Him...
Jason saw you were distressed even if you put up a fight, but right now you two needed to finish Harley off quickly. So Jason took out his non-lethal stun bullets and loaded them up, shooting Harley a few times, tasering her to the ground. It was over, Harley's reign of terror was over.
The police came and arrested her, taking her back to Arkham Asylum. You and Jason's job was done. But riding back to the belfry, Jason knew he had to ask you. So once you both settled down, changing into your pyjamas for the night...
"Y/n I need to ask you something, What happened back at the plant ??"
"It's... It's nothing Jason"
He placed a hand on your shoulder gently and turned you around. He wanted to help you.
"I may not be good with this kind of stuff... but you can talk to me. You know that right ??"
You looked down on the floor, you knew what he was talking about. About why you seemed distressed fighting Harley... Your stutter...
"When... When I was 7..."
Jason listened attentively.
"My dad... was murdered, by Joker... All my life... was overshadowed by him. Even one mention of his name triggers me into seeing everything again... How do you do it Jason ??"
"What do you mean ??"
"How do you deal with it... the pain ?? how do you keep yourself in check when hearing his name"
Jason never really thought about it too much, this was the man who killed him, but after that, he never thought much. he does sometimes but not even every mention triggers him. He could see the desperation for an answer in your eyes. Like a lost dog out in the streets.
"Y/n... I know It's hard. believe me, I know, But the way I cope with it is that I have and I don't usually say this in front of the others, an amazing support system. People who guide me when I feel lost, people who pick me up when I fall down. Y/n, you're my best friend, I want to help..."
You couldn't help but feel tears brim as you hugged Jason tightly, the one person out of the entire bat family gets you. He really does, He doesn't hesitate to wrap his arms around you, keeping you safe and secure.
"I'm always here for you y/n, always"
This meant more than you could ever feel. To have someone who could pick you up when you fall down, to guide you into the light when things get tough. It will continue to get tough, But you always had your best friend to back you up.

Okay, now on the other end of things
Morality wise, what about the NDA? Like they're the "good guys" in the story but who's the morally best and worst in your opinion? Also Kurumi as well if you want, because she kind of counts as am honorary NDA member ig?
Ooooooooh man this is a whole other can of worms, isn't it? Ranking the peacekeepers on their morality is much more cut n dry, but there's a whole lot more to think about when discussing the much more nuanced ethics each detective has. So to not devolve into too much chaos, I'll once again only be basing my ranking off of what is seen in canon in the game, so no talk of Number One Yuma (though that is definitely its own decisive topic, which will become evident soon). And as usual the list will go from best to worst, so we'll ease ourselves in before really diving into the nuance.
To start us off is the lovely Fubuki! Oh, you sweet summer child. The most morally sound out of all the detectives. Not a single bad bone in her body. She may be uneducated about many things in the world, but that doesn't stop her from being inherently kind and sweet, even with her unconventional compliments.
Next in line is Halara! I was honestly a little conflicted on whether they would be placed above or below Desuhiko, but I after some thinking, I believe Halara has the moral high ground. Obviously their stinginess and greed lowers their score, but the road is paved with good intentions. The reason they ask for so much money is so they can put it toward a program to help save cats! Even though they have trust issues with people, they care deeply about animals. And once they do gain some trust in human allies like Fubuki and Desuhiko, they say that their companionship is considered enough payment for the time being when partaking in casual investigations.
Climbing down to the next rung is Desuhiko. He's definitely got some issues with his ethics regarding his flirtatiousness. He is not afraid to flirt with any woman he meets and that is not good. Thankfully, he doesn't necessarily force any interaction and does back off when scolded or ignored enough, but that doesn't make his words any less uncomfortable. He needs to learn some self control or else he's gonna get a boot to the head.
Now here's where things get really interesting. Vivia takes third place in moral deviance. This is without going into the possible meanings of the teardrop tattoo, god forbid I bring up the idea of him murdering someone or being part of a gang; things would get much worse if I did. Even then, Vivia's overreaction to Yuma's determination to expose the truth definitely sits him firmly on the lower end of the ranking. He threatened to kill Yuma just so they could go back to living in blissful ignorance of Yakou's involvement in the case. He only resigned from his murderous intentions after hearing Yakou's spirit, calming him down and making him realize that he can't turn away from the truth and has to believe in his heart (kinda gay ngl). Vivia as a whole is harder to exactly pin down with his moral grayness regarding honesty, but ya can't really ignore the intention to slit someone's throat open, can ya?
And now we reach the actual murderer: heyo Yakou. Despite all the manipulation pulled by Yomi and Makoto, Yakou didn't have to kill Huesca. He did it for vengeance and atonement, leading all his detectives into the lion's den in order to execute his plan. Despite taking advantage of his allies, he undoubtedly had good intentions and is a very good soul overall. He wanted to bring justice to his wife who died because of an absolutely awful man and make up for not being able to save her. But murder is still murder, regardless of motive (I would say to put a pin in this, but I don't need to when the topic is coming up again right around the corner).
And here's the actual mass-murderer: Yuma! Now I know this may come as a shocker (or not depending on how much this game has been rotating in your brain like it has with mine), but Yuma is far from innocent, as much as we love to call him 'baby.' With the help of Shinigami, Yuma has killed many culprits. It can be argued that the very first reaping of Hitman Zilch doesn't fall under the same umbrella of awareness of his crime, but he still killed him! And afterward, Yuma made the decision to enter the labyrinth knowing that the culprits would die. He didn't have to use the labyrinths. It's especially egregious in chapter 3 when help was already on the way and would've put a stop to Dominic smashing Yuma to bits since they had the culprit with them! A death could've been avoided, but hindsight is not Yuma's Forte. And like I said, this isn't even talking about the corrupt fuckery of the WDO and what Yuma might've done as Number One.

Also theyre weird i already said that but let me say it again they are WEIRD. and we love them<3 (the ace attorney fandom)

for your forgetten four au, when vio was killed how did they first react? did they suspect murder and try to find a culprit or were they too in shock to be thinking about that? was he still conscious when they got to him and was able to say anything before he died or was he already gone by then? has anyone gone into his room since? will there ever be a chance for him to become himself again?! aghh!!! so many questions!! i still want to know exactly what happened that night!!! who killed him and why!!!!! im obsessed!!! (also wouldnt it be crazy if blue was able to teach redead vio sign language like who knows it might work? maybe?!! or he might be too far gone to really create coherent messages... thats so sad!!! he must be so lonely not being able to talk to them even if his brain doesnt fully work anymore :(!!!
sorry if im being overwhelming!!! im just super invested in this & excited to see more!!!
oh boy, this is going to be a long post, I think! ;3 (no worries, lol, I love the questions!) Also, I'm not going to answer every single one because I wanna cover them in comic form later on, so keep an eye out!
The fact that Vio screamed when he died gave away the fact that someone had done this to him. They probably suspected murder as soon as the realization of what just happened set in, and after doing a little more investigating (seeing the shattered mirror, the glass being used as the weapon etc etc a lot of boring crime scene things), they were able to confirm that he was killed.
Since he was killed, they've been in his room only a handful of times, but since his funeral it's been left mostly untouched. They went in to clean up the glass and make it presentable, but everything else is practically the exact same as Vio left it.
There's nothing saying that Vio will be able to be brought back, but there's also nothing saying he can't. They hold out hope, whatever little of it they have left. They'll try as hard as they can to see if it's even possible.
Vio... is hard to explain. Because, yes, it's him, that's the real Vio who has returned, but he seems to be more of an echo of the real person, doing things here and there reminiscent of when he was alive. It's not that he can't communicate, it's almost as if he just... doesn't need to communicate in the same way as the others. He tends to observe and follow rather than give input. Basically, whether or not Vio is really Vio is up to your interpretation. Maybe it really is him, but maybe he's only a shell of what he once was. It depends on how you read the story.

OHHHHH MY GOD OKAY OKAY OKAY SO THIS ISN’T ALL OF IT SO UHHH BARE WITH THE GAPS
i typed a whole ass essay for lani and fixed it up a bit and put it in my notes app, so…
tw for uhh mori being himself and mentions of dazai kinnie-ness ig? i don’t want those fuck ass twitter users on my ass cause i said “pedophilia” and “suicidal shit.” …wait-
…ANYWAYS-
and she has an older sister. and so basically her and her family were chilling and then her parents got MURDERED!!!!! in front of her and her older sister!!!!! (her older sister is the real natsuo, you’ll find out later,,,,,,)
so basically dazai is there and she forces him to take her to mori and when he finally gives in she’s like “RELEASE MY SISTER YOU ASS!!!!!” to mori and he’s all like “ummmm no but how about i become a colleen balinger kinnie lol” and she joins the port mafia.
so she’s basically told to stay by mori’s side for two years, she’s kinda like a new yosano (her ability, grotesque, allows her to give people wounds from someone else) and so basically she finds out (before she transitioned, and yes i mean she kinda forced herself to transition) that her sister starved herself so she didn’t have to be trapped and she died in the process from two guards that are like “yeah we should tell the boss” (both of which natsuo kills), natsuo (the still alive one) tries to um… kick the chair away… but fails. dazai was sent in to investigate ig and he kinda shoos away the guards when natsuo gives it away that she’s still alive and kinda needs help,,,,, and so dazai takes her to kouyou and (since i headcanon both kouyou and dazai as trans) kouyou tells her that she can pretend to be the “real” natsuo. so basically she starts estrogen at the age of 6 and mori never suspects a thing! but when she’s about 10-ish (for reference this means dazai is 17 and has likely met oda) she was sleeping on a park bench or sm after “running away” from mori (which just means she got sick of his shit and decided to spend the day in town) she meets oda, and they become friends. nothing really important there i just wanted that to be known. anyways, my boyfriend (realtweekscoffee) has an oc named yasunari and him and natsuo are like in love,,,,, and so basically they’re partners and together create atarashii soukoku, or new double black, and are pretty damn cool. so then when natsuo is 12, almost 13, mori is like “hey why don’t you spy on the ada” and she’s like “aight bet” and so she leaves, only telling chuuya and mori, to join the ada. but, backtrack, she’s a member of the doa! how can she hide all this? well,,,,, she came from incredibly smart parents and was always trying to get their attention,,,,,, but the original natsuo (her older sister) was “better” than her,,,,,, so she just kept on trying and trying, even after they died. so one day she goes to a café after a mission when she’s like 8 and she meets fyodor. she probably looks at him weirdly a couple times before walking up to him (with that 8 year old confidence) and says “you look cooler than my current boss and i don’t like how he touches me funnily. wanna be friends? i’m natsuo!” and he’s probably like “oh my an impressionable youth i must keep it in my little jar of trans children” and then they meet up a couple more times until she’s idk how old but she joins the doa,,,,,,, okay back to the regular story!!!!!! so she’s in the ada for about 2 years, collecting information and passing it to mori and chuuya (she mainly says “lol dazai drools in his sleep” to chuuya cause it’s fucking hilarious to her) and then one day she decides to tell yasunari (it doesn’t go great,,,,) but UH OH! i forgot to say! yasunari is a hunting dog! we found out this bombshell about 6 weeks before natsuo tells yasunari that she’s still in the mafia. but then one day idk what happens but she leaves the ada and goes back to the mafia,,,,,, then yada yada she leaves the mafia and then she meets up with fyodor who introduces her to sigma, and she’s told that she is his bodyguard from now on. but uh oh! remember the scene where the hunting dogs go to the casino? yeah, yasunari replaces one of those hunting dogs on that mission,,,,,, so him and natsuo fight,,,,,, lovers quarrel ig. but she’s also stinkin’ rich! not only were both her parents incredibly successful in the italian mafia, but she bought two, yes, TWO, incredibly successful businesses. she bought a law firm that she gets 50% of the income of, and she also bought a fucking lemonade company,,,,, so she’s clearly loaded,,,,,,, not to mention being in the mafia herself????? like this bitch is probably a multi-billionaire(usd-wise),,,,,,,

For those of you who are like me and are sad that Dracula Daily has concluded for the year and are looking for more Dracula to fill the void: I present to you Dracula: the original living vampire
Tumblr media
This adaptation of the classic we have come to know and love is probably the WORST I’ve ever seen! It’s so bad that I thought about turning it off multiple times but was so bad that I needed to know what happened.
So first things first. This takes place 100 years after the original story and by original story, I mean the one they made up for this. So a rich nobleman’s wife dies on the day of their wedding and he goes on a killing spree of all the women in the town that looks like her (redheads)
Now 100 years later the killings have started again and it’s up to Detective Amelia Van Helsing (yup Van Helsing is a woman and a detective in this) to solve the case.
So here’s the cast
Amelia Van Helsing - Detective/skeptic/redhead
Renfield - police captain/Amelia’s boss
Jonathan Harker - chemist/occultist
John Seward - police mortician/lab assistant
Mina Murray - solicitor/Amelia’s girlfriend
Dracula - British nobleman/secret vampire
So there is no timeline in this and the visual clues are all over the place.
It takes place in a gothic style town and everything is grey or black or brown.
All the women are wearing mid calf skirts but modern jewelry (Mina spends most of the movie in a see through nightgown with a big modern watch on her wrist)
They have telephones and lamps but also rely on candles and lanterns a lot
No one blinks an eye at a lady detective or the fact that the two women are living openly gay so it’s pretty progressive
They are able to run blood testing and can separate different things from blood samples
All the photos are sepia toned and look like long exposure from when cameras were invented
The only sign we see outside is in French despite everyone speaking with terrible British accent’s including Dracula
Also they live in the shadow of a gothic castle which turns out to be Dracula’s
So while Amelia is investigating the murders of all these redheads and worrying that she’s next, Mina is Dracula’s solicitor and is showing him houses around the area. It turns out that she is also a secret redhead who dyes her hair blonde because she used to get teased. So she gets targeted instead of Amelia and turns out to be the exact double of Dracula’s wife who died.
After Mina gets taken, Amelia and Jonathan go to the hotel where Dracula is staying: Hotel Carmilla. And they walk into a room to find that Dracula has turned a bunch of redheads into vampires and they are just in this room draining guys of blood and the only sound is really loud slurping. Oh man, it was so loud and ridiculous and amazing.
They kill all the vampire brides and all the guys they were draining who may have also been vampires…. It’s unclear.
Amelia gets bit by Dracula but doesn’t consume any of his blood.
Mina does the whole “if you let her go I will stay with you by choice” monologue and then stabs Dracula in the heart and her and Amelia tackle him and knock him into a sun beam. It’s nice to finally see Mina get a bit of agency
It ends with Amelia safe at home and turning into a vampire with absolutely no emotion
All in all a terrible and hilarious movie. I don’t know if I recommend it but I needed to share it with everyone else.
If you’re looking for a good Dracula movie, I suggest The Invitation. Both of these movies are on Prime
