Hello, I’ve loved seeing all of your One Piece content recently! Could I request a Sanji and a fellow straw hat reader who recently got married? I saw something recently about how once Sanji gets married, there would come a moment where someone would call ‘Vinsmoke’ and both would turn their heads and it would just cause Sanji to get emotional because he finally shares a last name with someone who doesn’t see him as worthless. Someone who instead looks at him like he single-handedly placed every star in the sky. If you don’t end up writing this that’s alright, I at least wanted to share this little scenario.
Vinsmoke | Sanji x Reader
Fandom: One Piece
Pairing: Vinsmoke Sanji x Reader
Word Count: 600
Genre: Fluff, minor angst?
A/n: *laughs in still haven't read past Ch. 526* Hey there requester <3 Firstly, I'm happy to hear you enjoy my writing! Thank you so much for this absolutely lovely request. You actually requested it when they were closed but I found it too cute and wanted to write it– even though I haven't reached that part in the manga yet. But, I wrote based on the things I learnt from fanfics (and whatever I got spoiled about, lol) so this might be inaccurate? I would have loved to expand but I need to know the entire backstory properly before I could do that TT Still, I had a fun time writing this cute drabble! Hope you enjoy it ♡
also available on ao3!
Tumblr media
Sanji woke up to the most beautiful sight in his entire life– you lying next to him, curled up against his chest from where he could see your hair spilling over the pillow and your relaxed face. This was the sight he was going to wake up every day to, from now on, and the thought of it made him feel like the most blessed man on Earth.
You shifted a little, burrowing closer into him, as if you two were already sticking to each other. He could feel your skin on his own, reminders of the night before but all he could feel at the moment was overwhelming love. He couldn't hold back when he saw your hand with a ring come up to lie above his heart. The choked off sound he let out woke you up, and you looked up at him with sleepy puffy eyes.
"Sanji…?" You mumbled, humming in contentment when he wrapped you up in his arms. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing, my love," he said quietly, gathering you into his arms, his own wedding band grazing your back as he did so. You shivered at the sudden cold touch but looked at him with dopey eyes full of so much love that he felt blinded. "Just thinking of how lucky I am."
The two of you eventually rolled out of the hotel bed and got ready to leave for your trip. You were on your honeymoon, a week long trip to a famous vacation island that had a lot of fun activities. Sanji had gotten ready first and gone down to the lobby to discuss something with the staff. You hurried up and joined him there after you had made sure that all the marks he left on you were hidden well under your clothes. You were not embarrassed by them – but you were also a private person who preferred to keep certain things to yourself. The love Sanji made to you was something no one else has to see or know. It was something just for you to experience.
You checked out at the reception since you had the room key and were about to make your way to Sanji when the hotel staff behind you suddenly called out, "Vinsmoke-san?"
"Yes?" You turned around automatically, feeling a little giddy. You had been preparing for this ever since Sanji proposed to you. To be called by his name, to be called his…
You didn't notice Sanji's reaction because of your own thoughts. The blonde had turned to answer the call only to be left dumbfounded when he realised the staff had called for you. You, who were now Vinsmoke (Y/n), had replied back with so much ease, like you had been answering to it your whole life.
And it was like someone had pulled his heart out of his chest and clenched it– it was both painful and pleasing to him that you were a Vinsmoke now. The first one to always be by his side, the first one to protect him even though he was clearly no longer the weak boy he once was. The first one to look at him like he hung the stars in the sky, the first one to love and accept him for who he was– you were now his first, real family. The family he had chosen and started. The family who loved him.
"Sanji?" Your concerned voice jolted him out of his thoughts and he blinked, feeling his eyes wet suddenly. His face was cradled gently in your soft hands as you looked up at him, silently asking him why he was about to cry. "What got you like this?"
Sanji swallowed the heavy lump he could feel in his throat, like his emotions had turned into a ball and were trying to come up his throat. He blinked away the last vestiges of his tears, instead wrapping you up in his arms again.
"You being mine now," he whispered, knocking his forehead gently against yours. His clear blue eyes looked straight into yours as he added, "In heart, mind, name and life."

Let's Talk About the Bakugou Problem
I've been enjoying the Bakugou slander here on Tumblr, but I haven't come across anyone that gets to the root of the problem with Bakugou's character yet. I think it goes further than him having anger issues, being annoying, or even how violent and abusive he is. Why I think Bakugou is a bad character is due to the effect he has on the plot, world-building, and the rest of the characters. There's a lot of layers here, so I'd like to take the time to talk as in-detail as I can while typing on mobile.
*Note: I'll be following the anime as it's easier for me to follow and pick specific examples. Manga readers if you have anything to add I'd love to hear it, even if it's against what I've listed here*
*Note: Bakugou fans you're more than welcome to read, though I warn you might not like what you see. I tried to keep this as constructive as I could without letting my own biases seep in (whether I succeeded is up for debate) so that everyone could read it whether you like Bakugou or not. I'm fine with criticism towards my points, I only ask that you remain respectful. I won't engage with anyone who disrespects me or other users*
1. Consequences
This is a big one among Bakugou critics, so I think it's a pretty good place to start. Bakugou has almost never faced actual consequences to his actions (there's a difference between something bad that happens to happen to him and the world around him not accepting his behavior). There are two instances that I can think of that there was a direct ramification to something Bakugou has done. The first was during the Deku vs Kacchan fight where Bakugou does get suspended for four days while Izuku gets suspended for three days. The other is when he and Todoroki fail the provisional licensing exam. However, there's a problem with these two instances I mentioned.
With the D vs K fight, Bakugou was the one who goaded Izuku out of the dorms and instigated a fight. Izuku was trying to get him to go back to the dorms so they could settle their "issue" under adult supervision. He was trying to do the responsible thing. For Izuku to only receive a day less of punishment seems unfair. Though, you could make the case that he should have ignored Bakugou, it's still very clear that one was way more at fault than the other and there was barely a difference in their punishment.
The provisional licensing exam actually did well with failing Bakugou. It was almost a great lesson; that he can't say and do whatever he wants and expect the world to roll over for him. Unfortunately, it's undermined by Todoroki failing as well. Yes, Todoroki failed because of Inasa. But a) Inasa attacked him first which should have resulted in disqualification (what was Todoroki supposed to do, not fight back when he was being assaulted?) and b) Inasa's entire character seems shoehorned into the story. He doesn't really add anything to Todoroki's character as most of his problems with Todoroki were already resolved back in season 2. He also contributes nothing to the overall story. Shindou, for example, has a hand in testing 1A and forces them to work together congruently. Inasa seems like he was put in the story simply to make Todoroki fail. Why does Todoroki have to fail? Because Bakugou does.
It seems like Horikoshi always softens the blow for Bakugou in a way, if he's dealt any blow at all. By not allowing Bakugou to face consequences on his own, he might as well not be facing them at all.
Why are consequences so important? Because Bakugou's privilege is a problem.
I don't think I've seen anyone address this. The root of Bakugou's behavior comes from the fact that he was allowed to do all those terrible things because the world around him was tolerant of it. Teachers turned a blind eyes when he bullied Izuku because he had a great quirk and Izuku was quirkless. He's allowed to do and say whatever he wants because he has a great quirk. While people seem to be harder on Izuku because of either having no quirk or not being able to fully control his quirk. This is a huge part of the story that was set up in the beginning, but was almost never addressed despite being persistent throughout. And it's the most present with Aizawa.
Bakugou attempts to attack a fellow student the first day of class? Simply restrained, no repercussions. Bakugou uses excessive force against a classmate despite his teacher telling him to stop? Nothing more than a few not-so-nice words. Bakugou assaults his partner and refuses to cooperate? No words at all.
Now look at Izuku. Doesn't have full control of his quirk? His teacher attempts to humiliate and expel him in front of his classmates on the first day of class. Saves a classmate in an admittedly risky rescue mission? Said teacher proclaims he lost his trust and labels him a problem child (despite the orchestrator of said mission- Kirishima- being in the same room and not getting spoken to at all).
(I don't know if Aizawa's projecting, but pandering to the kid with the strong quirk while simultaneously disliking All Might isn't a great look.)
Even before UA, Bakugou is praised by the heroes for his strong quirk against the sludge villain despite the fact that his quirk made everything worse while Izuku is scolded even though they were the ones who did nothing while he did what he could to save someone.
"All men aren't created equal." That's one of Izuku's very first lines and a central point of the story. It's something you expect it to address multiple times, especially in regards to Izuku and Bakugou. But Bakugou being spared from consequences every single time he does something terrible means that the statement is validated, but the problem still persists and is never rectified or solved. Even if you think Bakugou "changed," that doesn't make his privilege go away.
2. Plot Compensation
The story goes out of its way to make Bakugou seem like a better person than he is.
My first example is the Sports Festival, specifically his fight with Uraraka. In this fight, Bakugou is met with booing from the audience for not going easy on her. And right off the bat, this is weird. Because not only have we never seen this attitude toward women heroes before or after this, the show is trying to tell us something when Aizawa tears the crowd down. Almost as if saying, "The crowd is dumb and wrong and if you think like the crowd, you're dumb and wrong." Aizawa claims that Bakugou is treating Uraraka like a real opponent by not going easy on her.
...is he though?
Because we never see Bakugou stand still in a fight like he does with her. Bakugou's fighting style relies a lot on mobility. During his fight with Tokoyami, who he knew he had an advantage over because of the light from his quirk, he isn't standing still. During his fight with Todoroki he isn't standing still. He only does this with Uraraka. Because this isn't Bakugou showing respect, it's him still looking down on her. He doesn't see her as a serious opponent, just an obstacle in his way.
And I know this sounds like a bold claim. But if you recall, Bakugou immediately confronts Izuku after the fight and accuses him of giving Uraraka the idea she used during their match. He assumes it was a ploy from Izuku, implying that he didn't think Uraraka capable of coming up with a plan with the potential to work against him. This isn't respect for an opponent.
(Note: the only thing in Bakugou's favor is it's probably not because she's a girl. He just naturally looks down on everyone who doesn't immediately stand out to him with a show of power like Todoroki)
Then we have the revered scene with the League or Villains.
This scene is praised because it "subverts expectations." That the violent, angry kid doesn't want to be a villain. He wants to be a noble hero. Aizawa- again- silences claims against Bakugou, citing that he wants to win and he knows he can't do that if he's a villain.
My thing is, however, the League targeting him in the first place. Why would they do this? Bakugou clearly has a heroic quirk. He scored first on the entrance exam. If they did any research at all beforehand, they would know that Bakugou was at the top of his class before UA and is in the top five currently. And they'd know he has wealthy parents.
(You would think Dabi especially would draw parallels to Endeavor and would be aware that Bakugou's ambition and heroic quirk don't make him similar to the League who have been discriminated against, shunned, and abused for most of their lives. Even with his behavior at the Sports Festival, Endeavor isn't the noble and kind type like All Might and most other heroes. So I'm not sure why Bakugou's behavior immediately screamed villain potential)
Nothing about him suggests he's had a hard life like most of the League. Nothing about him suggests he'd want to leave his comfortable life and secured future to become a villain.
This scene sets up Bakugou's redemption, right? It leads us to the Deku vs Kacchan fight and All Might's advice is what makes him take on his "save to win" mentality.
But not only does this seem like a convenient plot device, it decidedly ignores the uglier part of Bakugou's decision.
Bakugou rejected the LOV because he saw them as losers. But what if they hadn't been losers? What if they had been doing as well as they were at the end of season 5? Merging and becoming the MLA front, organized teams, wealthy, successfully recruiting members right under the heroes' noses.
Maybe Bakugou wouldn't have outright joined them. But at this point before shifting his perspective, his answer might have been very different.
But the story goes out of its way to hammer in Bakugou's scarce good traits to take your focus away from his overwhelming bad ones.
3. Bakugou's Character Shift "Development"
The way Horikoshi wrote Bakugou in the beginning is very different to how he is portrayed later in the show. No, I don't mean his development. I mean the major shift in his character between seasons 1/2 and season 3/4.
Bakugou in the beginning of the show is cruel, meanspirited, and violent. And he's still all of those things throughout the show. The one difference is that it's played for laughs in later seasons.
Bakugou's actions and words in seasons 1 and 2 are portrayed a lot more serious than in later seasons. He's an antagonistic force, one that Izuku has to strive to overcome not just to be a good hero, but for himself as Bakugou has been one of the most prominent obstacles in his strive to become a hero.
Look at his behavior during the battle trials. It's something serious, something that has even All Might worried. Bakugou knew he could have very well killed Midoriya and didn't care. It's brutal and almost hard to watch because at this point in the show Midoriya is weak and tiny (visually, we know he's never really been weak) compared to Bakugou and can really only outsmart him to win.
We never see Bakugou display anything close to this level of violence in later seasons. Not in the Sports Festival or 1A vs 1B or D vs K or the licensing exam or even against literal villains. Season 1 went out of its way to show Bakugou's cruel behavior even using it as something Izuku has to learn how to overcome even if he has to risk everything.
By season 3, the perspective has changed. Bakugou name calling people, belittling people, yelling, and his acts of violence are now exaggerated for comedy. None of his actions are taken as seriously as they were before, despite some being almost or just as bad.
(It's worth mentioning that this was also around the time Bakugou began to get popular among fans)
A great example of this is in season 5 when he throws his headpiece at Izuku and makes him bleed. His casual act of his aggression towards his lifelong victim is present to make the audience laugh, despite the fact that Izuku was bleeding and the 1A boys are (rightfully) horrified.
(I'd like to add that there was no real reason to do this. Nothing he was saying would have exposed OFA and even if it had, he was done talking by the time Bakugou threw it)
If Bakugou had really changed at this point, this would have never happened in the first place. I can't call this changing or development, I call this his actions shifting into comedic relief and away from the serious connotations they previously held. By taking that away, it allows Bakugou to continue to do the same things he has all his life while under the guise of development. It undermines what's supposed to be his redemption arc.
4. Other Characters
Bakugou isn't the only one who gets a character shift. It's approximately the moment that Bakugou begins to get more attention that the other characters lose the substance they had at the beginning of the show.
The ones hit most notably by this are obviously Uraraka and Iida. They were Izuku's first friends, his original trio. More than that, they are set up as interesting characters with their own arcs and paths for becoming great heroes.
Even though I did have my complaints about her fight with Bakugou in the Sports Festival, it does turn Uraraka onto improving past her goal of becoming a rescue hero. She wants to become better in other aspects of being a hero so that she can succeed and keep up with her stronger classmates. She proved herself capable of this during her fight with Bakugou and it was the catalyst of her character development.
Iida was not only resolving himself with caring for Midoriya as a friend as well as being his rival and wanting to surpass him. There's also this darker side to him that no one expects from goody two shoes, straight-laced Iida that had so much potential for exploration.
Both of them are tossed to the side in favor of Bakugou. I would even go as far as to say that after season 2, they're almost irrelevant until season 6 and even then they're limited (before season 6 Uraraka's only character trait is that she ignores he feelings for Midoriya to become a better hero, which came out of nowhere and does nothing for her character). And they barley ever get moments with Izuku during time despite being his first friends.
Todoroki is a similar yet very different case. At the beginning of the show, he was intense and has strong feelings. (An interesting parallel is that if Iida was his friend becoming his rival, Todoroki was his rival becoming his friend and both relationships speak to Izuku as a character) Even if he didn't express them, we as the audience knew they were there. But as times passes he becomes flat and dull. Even though he's supposed to be part of the new trio, he's barley present (the dynamic between the three of them is uninteresting all around as it's basically Bakugou yelling at Izuku with Todoroki in the background. They never have any deep or heartfelt moments nor do they have good chemistry) and barely gets any one-on-one interaction with Izuku despite them being very good friends.
(I can't blame this all on Bakugou as the show also shifts from focusing to Todoroki to focusing on his own abuser which is part of the issue with his lack of character, but Bakugou's character does contribute to this problem of making the abusers more sympathetic than the victims)
Most if not the rest of 1A fade into the background after this, save for a few who have notable moments sprinkled in throughout the show. You can take this as a Bakugou prevalence problem, or it can be seen as Horikoshi just not knowing how to balance characters.
However, the character that suffers the most because of this is Izuku himself.
I don't think it's a bad thing that Izuku admires or looks up to Bakugou. I don't think it's a problem that he doesn't see anything wrong with Bakugou's behavior against him. Izuku grew up in an environment where that was normalized. That he's worthless because of his lack of quirk and Bakugou deserves to be on top because of his great quirk. Of course he internalized that, even though he knows that a quirk doesn't determine someone's worth. He was never given the tools or the means to beat that mindset.
What I despise is the fact that everyone around him enables it.
As I stated above, Aizawa is definitely the worst when it comes to this. Not only shoving Bakugou and Izuku together and making it Izuku's job to get Bakugou to cooperate, but hardly if ever condemning Bakugou when he lashes out against Izuku. Even without their history, what Bakugou does is wrong and should be treated as such.
Unfortunately and even though I love All Might, he's also guilty of this. It's true that he might not know the full extent of their toxic relationship, but All Might sees Bakugou instigate a fight with Izuku and decides it's okay to tell Bakugou about One For All. Bakugou did nothing to earn this honor: he hasn't shown Izuku support and hasn't been a reliable ally he could depend on. But even disregarding that, Bakugou had just been captured by villains who work for All For One. He was the last person on Earth who should have been entrusted with this secret.
The adults in Izuku's life enable and reward Bakugou's bad behavior and urge them into forming a relationship and partnership that frankly shouldn't exist (and only does to make Bakugou a better person and hero, it does nothing for Izuku). It's to the point where almost Izuku's entire character revolves around his relationship with Bakugou and how he improves because of it and how he helps Bakugou improve. And he further projects this when he "subtly" implies that Todoroki should forgive Endeavor, which feels like a justification towards the audience of his own feelings towards Bakugou.
5. Accountability
I mentioned consequences as my first point. But what many who want this miss, it goes hand-in-hand with accountability.
Unlike consequences, Bakugou more or less does take accountability in the form of his apology. But the apology was lackluster for a couple of reasons. The main thing is that it feels like a list of excuses rather than simply owning up to the fact that he was shitty and there's really no good reason for it. But simply explaining why you hurt the person you hurt isn't giving them the apology they deserve. It's making it about you.
Another thing, though, is that the apology is very scarce. It skips over the worst of Bakugou's actions. Nothing he said was anything 1A didn't already know. They don't know about the s*icide baiting which is one of the worst things he's done to Izuku (and that's only what we saw, who knows what Bakugou's been saying for years?). It also ignores everything he did in UA, which was a very big part of the problem. He treated Izuku poorly months prior to the apology and that shouldn't be ignored.
As far as accountability goes this apology isn't that great. But it's something. No, what's worse is that the other characters don't hold Bakugou accountable.
The other characters more often than not turn a blind eye to Bakugou's behavior. We've already covered Aizawa, but the rest of 1A is guilty of this too. No one says anything about the Battle Trials. Hardly anyone condemns Bakugou when he attacks or insults Izuku. Sometimes they'll chime in like Uraraka or Kirishima, but other than that no one outright tells him off. This is out of character for Iida in particular because he's such a stickler about rules and courtesy for others (he literally told off a six year old when he punched Izuku and tried to stop Mineta from perving on the girls, why wouldn't he do the same when it comes to Bakugou?). It's almost like the characters are blind to Bakugou's behavior.
What's weirder is that Mina and Kirishima- who were both stated to hate bullying- are friends with him. Why would the show go out of its way to tell us this only to saddle them into the "BakuSquad?" It doesn't make sense.
It's hypocritical that everyone in 1A is so tolerant of Bakugou but get annoyed with others; like Monoma for example. Or even Mineta because as much as I dislike him he's constantly being called out by 1A. It means that they know certain behavior is wrong and/or shouldn't be entertained, so we know they aren't completely unaware. But the fact that they largely ignore Bakugou's behavior and condemn Monoma's is so weird. You can't excuse one and not the other.
Conclusion
There's certainly more than this to my dislike of Bakugou. But I think I've mostly covered his negative impact on the story. Doing a deep dive into his awful personality is something I wouldn't wish on anyway. Many others have done that anyway, so I'm content to leave it out. But I hope you liked my little breakdown!

DCMK characters as AIB playing cards
Okay, listen. I've watched Alice in borderland, and I can't get this idea off of my head so bear with me.
Maybe some of you have watched this show too and I'd love to hear your thoughts (and maybe I'll also convince some of you to watch it because the concept of it is: *chef's kiss* immaculate).
So, wuick summary: basically there are *death games*, and each game is a different poker card. The difficulty of the games escalates depending on the number (Ace being always the easiest). And what's interesting is that each suit represents different skills:
Spades ♠ are mainly physical games.
Clubs ♣ are teamwork games.
Diamonds ♦️ are intelligence games.
Hearts ❤️ are psychological games.
At the center of each big face card there is always a person who you would be playing against. Mostly kings and queens of the different suits (although there are also jacks). And there's this trend of putting characters into the different games they would be the heads of. So I was thinking... What about in Conan? And these are my thoughts:
Ran would be the Queen of Spades ♠ . No question. She's everything these games represent. Speed, strength, combat, endurance... Yeah, she could be the queen no question.
I think the King of Spades ♠ then should probably go to Makoto. He's basically the strongest and best fighter of the dcmk universe confirmed by Gosho so... It has to be him for sure.
I have my doubts with Heiji, because I was thinking King of Clubs ♣, BUT, while he's an awesome friend who has learnt to build trust on the people around him... He's also really well known for being competitive to the bone. So I'm on the fence about him. For Queen of Clubs ♣ I think maybe Sera? I still see incredible potential in her being a team player once her mom stops being the way she is. That's why I choose her. She would be able to keep up with her other team members and I think she's a little more collaborative than Heiji, at least without complaining.
I think King of Diamonds ♦️ could probably be Hakuba, because while there are also many other intelligent characters out there, they also show many other qualities that prevent me from putting them in this category. For example, Shinichi. I think he has other things that are a bit more relevant to him than just being all rationale and quick wit and maths and all of that. Hakuba on the other hand, seems like the one to put this on the forefront so I'm going with him here.
On the other hand, for Queen of Diamonds ♦️, I was thinking both Ai and maybe even Momiji could go there. They are both extremely intelligent women in their respective areas.
And now with Shinichi I have my doubts. I think King of Clubs ♣ could also work for him. Especially looking at his development throughout the manga, which is basically about him learning that he needs other people to finally stop the BO. I think it fits him well. But... I also think King of Hearts ♥ would be a good fit. Like it or not, he's amazing at what this game entails. It's a game of manipulation, of trust in people if you play it correctly and don't fall in distrust. A psychological game where everything is put on the line. The are often described as the worst and are tricky because, most heart games could actually be completed without anyone dying if you actually learn to trust the people around you and play correctly.
And then there's Kid as the Joker because it's the most mysterious card. I only watched the show and haven't read the manga, so I don't really know what it means yet. Lmao But it fits conceptually, he's the wild card.
What do you think?

Warning that I haven't caught up with the anime and manga just yet, so info may not be accurate to either. AND this is just a rant that I want to get off my chest because it refuses to leave me, so don't take this too seriously. :)) You don't have to read this if you don't want to.
ALSO this about the "My Brother's Wife" series.
All I'm thinking about is how [wife] would react meeting the main cast.
Like, maybe at some point she does get turned into a demon by Michikatsu (probably against her will). Kiyoshi would grow up into a demon slayer under Yoriichi's guidance and with the goal of killing his father (as he did basically steal their mother away from them and he does prefer Yoriichi as a parent) and the daughter (I couldn't find her name sorry) could marry an Ubuyashiki when she's older because: one, she loves the Ubuyashiki; and two, more privy information about demons on the small chance that she can find something that can get them their mother back.
I don't really know what to do with the unknown baby, but I'm honestly thinking of keeping her with their siblings; just so that [wife] is alone with Michikatsu. Yoriichi, of course, still looks for [wife] but does eventually die because he ain't the main point of this rant (sorry).
Fast forward to the future, [wife] meets Tanjiro, who while not related to Yoriichi or Michikatsu (according to google) still looks like them. Maybe in this AU the Kamados are descendents of Kiyoshi, but idk.
[wife] just basically goes "Kiyoshi..?" And Tanjiro is confused at the unfamiliar name. Michikatsu appears, battles things out with the demon slayers, and takes [wife] back to wherever they live now, and Tanjiro and co. return to Hashira headquarters. But Tanjiro is still curious about this "Kiyoshi."
Fast forward again and the demon slayer corps are able to kidnap [wife]. Maybe for like information since she was close to upper moon one, yet she was weaker than anyone else around her (I don't know what to feel about her eating people, so I basically made her a bit like Nezuko in that she sleeps rather than eats people). She meets the hashiras and Kagaya, and when she hears that he's part of the Ubuyashiki family, she goes like "Ubuyashiki? So you're her descendents *smiles sadly*" and that just gets everyone curious.
I kind of lost sight of the yandere-prompt you had for this series, but my mind just wouldn't let go of this sort-of-plot/prompt, so tada!
Just to clear things up, this isn't a request or anything, it's just word vomit. :)) Anyways, I like your writing!!
I have many questions-
The Ubuyakashi family only marries the daughters of priests and such-
And as for the Kamados… What about our boi Mui? How could he alive???
And also- the Kamados live in the same era as Yoriichi, they’re besties with Yoriichi.
I really like how creative you got! But I already have it all planned out!
I like that you went this way and I love that you enjoy my writing!
I like your brain pretty anon ;3

Hi Quil! I'm glad to hear you've been writing a lot, even if it is a little tiring. I'm currently trying to get back into a few of my stories and figure out specific plot points and scenes. I've also been reading a few webcomics/fancomics recently too. Do you have any favorite web/fan comics? Good luck on your fic, I hope you're enjoying yourself! - Amethyst
Amethyst! Hello! It does take some energy/effort and time, but I find writing to be very rewarding and worth it in the end. There's some quote/sentiment about how things that are worthwhile take effort, and writing definitely holds true to it for me. And I am enjoying myself! It's really cool to create things where there was nothing before, and in this case I get to do it for another person!
I hope your stories and plotting goes well! Plots can be so satisfying and a nightmare to put together all at once. It's cool to fit pieces together, but sometimes the pieces don't want to fit and you're left puzzled for a while.
As for fancomics, I unfortunately don't really have anything I can share. I wish I could! I'm not a visual person, so I struggle to engage with a lot of visual media--movies, shows, manga, comics, graphic novels, etc. When I did try to engage with them more, I read mostly the popular webtoons. unOrdinary, Mage & Demon Queen, Siren's Lament, etc. I'm not caught up on them at all though
the one I do keep up with is Boyfriends, though that's mostly because I think it's got a cute style and is fun, lighthearted kind of thing. it's not too deep, and Goth is fun to look at. nothing more to it than that for me i just like looking at Goth. I'm aware it's the subject of controversy for some, but I'm not involved enough to really know about it. I did also read through Banquet recently, though. It's got some rather complex worldbuilding I haven't quite sorted out given the visual storytelling, and it feels like it's being told very slowly (nothing against the author for that! it's just not great for me when I already tend away from that kind of thing). if anyone checks that one or the author out, heads up that they're also a nsfw artist and it is an adult story (nothing explicit is public, but clearly written with adults in mind), just in case anyone isn't comfortable with that.
Unfortunately, that's pretty much the extent of my experience! Kudos to all the lovely artists and fan comic makers and everything in that regard, I'm sure their work is incredible. And I'm glad you've found some webcomics you seem to be enjoying! I'm kinda curious what they are now that you've mentioned them, but no pressure to share.
I hope you and your stories are doing well!

Hey friend…because I love hearing your thoughts and giving you chances to ramble; wanna tell me your favourite things about Benimaru and Kanro as a couple?💜
Aw! Thanks for the ask, friend!!! I love Benimaru and Kanro from Fire Force! Best couple!
Also, I'll try to not give too many manga spoilers as I know you haven't read it all.
Here are some of my thoughts. This is long so it's under a cut.
The reason why they're my favourite couple in the series is because of their backstory. Besides the fire of Asakusa, Benimaru is shown to have a secret inferiority complex (illustrated later in the manga). After the fire this complex blossoms under the weight of guilt. Deep down he feels he didn't "earn" the position of captain. Benimaru thinks by running Company Seven he's doing everything wrong. It's the guilt talking but he cannot see it. All Benimaru sees are the great qualities in Kanro. The result? He cannot stop imagining "what if Kanro was the captain?" consistently.
(Of course, this changes after meeting Company Eight and being shown that everyone in Company Seven respects him and don't hold anything against him.)
2. I firmly believe that Benimaru and Kanro were dating before the Great Fire of Asakusa. Benimaru puts on a "tough love" front, but deep down he cares a lot. He puts hard work into everything even if it doesn't appear so. I think that's how he approaches his relationship with Kanro.
3. Benimaru is 100% unsure HOW to approach asking Kanro out. There aren't a lot of people he'd call "friends" or even "confidants". Instead he tries to watch couples around Asakusa and subtly "ask" people questions.
Spoiler: He's not subtle. Everyone in town knows he's been pining after Kanro. They all think it's cute though and remain silent. It would embarrass Benimaru if he knew they knew.
4. Benimaru manages to gather his courage after dinner to ask Kanro out. Sadly Kanro was washing dishes and couldn't hear him over the water. Benimaru nearly runs away when he's asked to, "Could you repeat what you just said, Beni?" However, he doesn't and firmly repeats himself. His ears are flushed and his face is pink but Kanro hears him. Kanro nearly bluescreens as he processes Benimaru asking him out. His silence makes Benimaru think it's a no. He almost leaves but Kanro manages to confess he'd love to go on a date.
5. Their first date is supposed to be lowkey but EVERYONE in Asakusa knows they're dating. Everyone is trying to be subtle but they're just Too Excited to see the two on a date. This results in Benimaru and Kanro going somewhere quiet, perhaps sitting by the river bank and enjoying the view. They probably end up sparing because that's exactly the kind of activity to be included in their date.
6. This is also when they first kiss and it's right out of a cliché romance novel Sister Iris SWEARS she's not reading. It's the usual pin to the ground or tree move and the breathy "I win" followed by the other losing their mind and initiating the kiss. Who "won" and who "lost their mind" will never be revealed. Ever.
7. Benimaru is the one who wants to propose so he spends six months secretly taking in Kanro's ring size and commissioning the best goldsmith in Asakusa. Sadly, I think Benimaru is awful at keeping secrets when they're related to Kanro. Kanro knows what's up an hour after Benimaru commissions the goldsmith. He plays along however and patiently waits for Benimaru to propose.
Their proposal is the least romantic (according to Maki). Benimaru gets the ring. His plan is to propose to Kanro in the afternoon when the sun is the highest in the sky. However a combination of nerves and incidents Only Kanro Can Solve (TM) arise which leads Benimaru flopped in their shared futon, face pressed into a pillow, wondering where he went wrong. Kanro walks in, sits beside him and after massaging his back, asks Benimaru, "Are you going to give me my ring or not?"
8. Their wedding is a traditional Shinto wedding. Everyone in Asakusa celebrates and festivities last for days. Benimaru at the end of each evening lights fireworks in the sky and all of them are more beautiful than the last. (Benimaru does, in fact, cry during the ceremony but will Deny it if anyone brings it up.)
9. After the fire the heartbreak over Kanro nearly dying and now unable to use his fire powers crushes Benimaru. How can he face the man he loves when all he can see is the result of his own failures? How can Benimaru hold Kanro when even touching his shoulders causes immense pain? How can Benimaru sleep beside Kanro when he's woken consistently at night due to Kanro's pained cries?
Answer: He can't. Benimaru cannot handle it. Guilt, sorrow, frustration, rage, bitterness... they all well up inside him until it's a dark maw ready to consume him. No matter how much fire power Benimaru can produce or manipulate, darkness is too strong.
This weight causes Benimaru to distance himself from Kanro, try to squirrel his heart away. He's unable to fully do it. Benimaru still tends to Kanro and helps him, but the ease they had before is in tatters. Even once Kanro heals, this wedge remains. No one blames the other but neither know how to breech the subject. That's when Company Eight bursts in, solve the problem that arises in Asakusa, and helps Benimaru regain his confidence and shed his guilt.
10. After Company Eight leaves Asakusa Benimaru goes to apologize to Kanro. For the first time in a long while Benimaru feels fear. He's so certain Kanro will reject him and finally move on. Instead Kanro pulls Benimaru into a hug. Kanro is the kind of person to never blame someone. His kindness breaks Benimaru and for the first time in a long while he cries.
11. Company Eight (read: the kiddos) don't know the two are married. Benimaru and Kanro can set aside their professional and private lives with ease. However, their closeness is natural and Company Eight (read: the kiddos) cannot help but notice. Romance Connoisseur (TM) Maki notes their "closeness" and talks to Iris, Shinra, Tamaki, and Arthur about "getting Captain Shinmon and Lieutenant Kanro together". They're all gun-ho and discuss plans so loudly that Obi and Hinawa overhear. Now, Obi and Hinawa (who are married in my mind) just Know (TM) that Kanro and Benimaru are married. Do they stop this? No. It's Hilarious.
12. Cue the Company Eight kids doing everything in their power to try and get Kanro and Benimaru to have "quality time" together. Kanro immediately Gets what the kids are doing and thinks it's Adorable. Benimaru is too dense. It takes a solid two weeks before Benimaru takes note and with a half exasperated/confused tone asks, "Why are you trying so hard to get me together with my husband?"
Which is immediately the Wrong option because now he's Swarmed with Questions and Congratulations (as if he and Kanro just got married). When he doesn't answer "Properly" (according to Maki) they pull Kanro into the mess.
13. Company Eight insists they have a celebration for the two and Benimaru who can secretly-not-so-secretly not say "no" to the Company Eight kids agrees. It's Wild but fun. The kids all chip in to buy a gift for them and Benimaru swears he wasn't in the verge of tears.
14. (Also as a spicy bit this revelation regarding their relationship makes the kiddos Blush when they remember the calendar. How Kanro managed to sneak up on Benimaru in the nude without him noticing takes on a whole other meaning. The kids cannot look them in the eye for a week afterwards.)
15. Kanro is the best at remembering dates and every year he plans a small anniversary celebration. It's small, just the two of them. Benimaru, however, is surprisingly the best gift giver. It's because he's perceptive and thoughtful.
16. Benimaru's secret favourite thing about Kanro is how warm he is when they're in bed together. Kanro drapes himself over Benimaru and somehow Benimaru never overheats. If they can spare a moment in the morning together Benimaru loves lazing in bed and tracing the bridge of Kanro's nose.
17. Both Kanro and Benimaru are Tea Enthusiasts and the Authority on Tea Making and Drinking. Yes, their rules are enforced upon others. It's actually the true secret to why they're called a "Power Couple".

// Consider this a mini (not) hc dump of some things that have been kinda rolling around in my vacancy of a head, all about Zazie and their swarm hive. This is entirely headcanon, and probably disproved by the manga somewhere, but I'm enjoying making my little bug vibe how they do so y'know. canon divergency smthn smthn--
// Zazie is not a single being - even as the one form you see them. Yes, obviously, they have thousands upon millions of insects that they monitor at all times, but even more than that. Zazie themselves is almost like a 'council', a dozen or so bugs that make up the main collective, who function to keep track of the hive and keep them prosperous. These are your 'queens' of the world, the insects and pests that function in colonies and have a centralized unit by which everything is directed. Zazie as a single unit, the 'human form' you see, is actually that collection of creatures who function to keep their hive running smoothly. Zazie's parts that make them up do die, and as they do they get replaced by new hive that gets shared a cross them the memories of the others and so their life as 'Zazie' continues.
// And on that note - Zazie's swarm hive as I'll call them is a collection of a HUGE variety of species. As symbiotic relationships grew in a barren wasteland of a desert that is our lovely little setting here, the hive became almost more self-aware in a sense? More sentient? Often times Zazie will save species that perform vital roles by introducing them into the swarm hive, and as a result they've collected a huge variety of species - including ones that don't typically adhere to a hive type setting. Y'know. Like the worms. But also arachnids, all variety of insects and pollenators. They aren't necessarily the ones like on Earth, but a lot of them evolved to look very similarly like the dragonflies we see in canon. If just a touch bigger.
// Now, when including species that aren't their own, they have to find a way to communicate. I haven't really thought about the logistics of how it occurred, but the planet is almost magic itself and Zazie is able to use some of that for the good of the planet. They are the living embodiment of the planet, but more that they bend to her will rather than Zazie forcing their own will of sorts. With that all being said - Zazie can mind link any willing creature into the hive mind. This CAN work two ways - but for the most part it usually works one, which is allowing the collective to see into that creature's mind and eyes, and allow them to place thoughts and their own input. This can ALSO work as them allowing you to see the hivemind, of the chaos they deal with day to day... But really only happens when welcoming a new bug into 'Zazie'
// Finally, Zazie's head is a MESS of overstimulation. Even Zazie, who's done this since what has felt like the beginning of time, frequently gets overwhelmed by the sheer size of the swarm hive and has to find somewhere quiet to hide and listen. They feel everything - every bug hunted or eaten alive, the hot sand against the worms that travel or the sun beating down on the insects flying around. It's overwhelming to any normal person - but even the collective struggles with it as multiple beings sharing a single mind. Their mask is used to help them destimulate because it takes away the senses of the collective in favor of focusing on the hive. It can be as limited as taking away sight, or as intense as losing their smell hearing and taste just for a moment of respite. Zazie wearing the mask while interacting is usually indicative of their brain just being a little too loud.
// Holy shit if you read this far THANK YOU and i hope you enjoyed my word vomit about my baby. I plan on making another hc post but throwing it in my queue for tomorrow about the swarm hive's... Hive. Zazie's first home, their true home, even before humans crash landed on their planet. Stay tuned~!

confession: i think i have read that one erasermic fic you made like 3 years ago about 50 times and i’m 90% sure i could recite at least three scenes from memory alone. you just write them so Good and i am so tempted to get into the fandom you currently are in purely to enjoy more of your writing bc it is so. just. Nice. the dialogue is so fun and the characters feel so Genuine idk how else to explain it but i have been obsessed with it ever since. no other fic will live up to it, from plot to premise, its my favorite thing ever. tyvm for writing it. also this is a tumblr ask so i think i ought to? actually ask a question? ive never used tumblr before haha Okay question: are you still keeping up with mha? thoughts? if not uhhh whaatts your wriiitting process?
This is so incredibly sweet! I'm thrilled that something I've written is something you enjoy and remember fondly. This really made my day to hear, thank you so much!
I have not been keeping up with MHA, but not for any reason against it. I simply had a shift in hyperfixation and haven't rounded back just yet. I do intend to continue it at some point, maybe after the manga has finished. I have heard some interesting, nail-biting things about Aizawa, my beloved, that went down and I am Deeply Intrigued. I'll hop back in one day!
My writing process for the past few years has been something like this: I have one or more scenes in particular that I really want to write about. Unfortunately, it's difficult for me to write only those scenes on their own and present them as is, so I build a narrative around them in order to bridge the gap and form a full story. I call this the "connective tissue," it's all the stuff between the bits I really want to write.
Now, sometimes this works really well; Heroism and Other Infectious Diseases is actually mostly comprised of this connective tissue, but it still ended up being a pretty coherent and cohesive piece that I'm really proud of. Sometimes this doesn't work very well at all and the story can feel like it's a bit disjointed or leave some scenes feeling out of place or unnatural.
I'm a very hit or miss writer, I'm afraid! And the truth is, sometimes I just get so sick of looking at a piece that I tend to force a stopping point if I get tired of a project. And since I don't like leaving something in a wip folder for too long (since I'm worried it will be doomed to die there and all the work I put into it will go to waste), I'll post it even if I'm not very happy with it or confident in its current state. This has become a terrible habit that I need to stop doing lol!
But I hope that answered your questions! And thank you again for reaching out! <3 It was a wonderful birthday present~

can I request a lil something? during the end of the manga or after the timeskip if you haven't read it yet, reiner still has feelings for historia and reader has one-sided feelings for him.
pieck gives reiner a small hint, saying he's wasting time while there's someone close to him that cares for him and points to you. he doesn't understand at first and maybe is conflicted about his feelings for you because of historia. reader is cool about it as she doesn't expect him to reciprocate her feelings.
a rollercoaster of emotions later, maybe there is a happy ending tho? i am curious to see what you can come up with 😭😭 i have dreaming of this scenario before bed and i can't help but get jealous of his crush on historia abjdsndks maybe you can help reiner reciprocate reader-chan's feelings or not
thank u so much aly 💖🥺
reciprocation
pairing: reiner braun x reader
a/n: OMG yesss! honestly, i was kinda annoyed at how reiner still had a crush on historia. i know that isayama wanted to show how everything went back to normal, but i was hoping that reiner would have a bigger role in the allied nations instead of being "dumbed down" to having an obsession with her. MAYBE THATS JUST THE JEALOUSY SPEAKING LMAO 😭 i was hoping this would be longer, although school has been killing me so im really sorry!! i hope its okay 💗💕 thank you honey!
↳ to be added to my taglist, please fill out this ♡form♡
Tumblr media
as reiner is handed historia’s letter, you fold your hands on the table and watch him without a word. when he reads the lines and smells the parchment - jean saying something snarky afterward - you say nothing.
you want reiner to be happy: you want to see him at ease like this more, face soft as the leaf of the page flits from his pinched fingers.
and so you let the man speak about historia like she’s a damn goddess, gushing over her handwriting, and keep your goddamn mouth shut. ignore your jealousy. your feelings.
the truth is, you’re in love with reiner.
you can’t even remember how it happened, but you can remember the first time you looked into those hazel eyes, and how you knew that they were going to stick with you for eternity.
you’ve come to accept his crush on the queen, though. reciprocation was never an option in your mind.
when jean begins to chew reiner out for lusting after a married woman, and reiner says something about jean being a horse, pieck’s gaze lands on you. “you’re rather quiet,” she says softly, resting her head on her palm.
you shrug, turning away from her. “i’m just tired.”
pieck catches your chin between her lithe fingers, and turns you to face her with a tiny smile. the young woman is very perceptive, and you’ve known her long enough.
that’s when you notice the twinkle in her eye. she’s planning something.
pieck releases your jaw then, sitting up in her chair. “you’re wasting your time, reiner,” she says suddenly. “there’s already someone you know who cares for you.”
you pretend to not hear pieck - and definitely pretend you don’t see her faintly point at you through your peripheral. the movement of her fingers is barely there, but you catch it.
damn you, pieck.
the way you’re now pinned underneath armin, jean, connie, and reiner’s stares makes your stomach tie itself into knots with bubbling reluctance. shit, this is awkward. you want to run away.
still, you peer over to study reiner’s reaction. he looks confused at first, the contours of his face unreadable. you swear you see connie facepalm at the man’s cluelessness.
then reiner’s expression slowly changes: his eyes widen in awe, lips parting slightly, and brows knitting together. he seems genuinely surprised - and conflicted.
conflicted? why?
there’s no time to explain yourself though, because the door creaks open and annie steps in. her words fall on your deaf ears, and when everyone stands up to leave, you’re the first one out of the room. work beckons you as always.
Tumblr media
two days pass.
you’ve been busy filling out tons of paperwork pertaining to the allied nations, so when you’re finally given a day off, you take it with open arms.
freedom at last.
you lean against a bench outside of headquarters, enjoying the salty breeze that flutters along your skin. it’s dusk, the sky covered in a gradient of neon colors as the sun dips below the horizon.
you haven’t seen reiner since that day in the conference room. you wonder how he’s doing, what he’s thinking, how he’s holding up -
“hey.”
speak of the devil. you glance over your shoulder toward the voice, low and familiar.
reiner approaches you, clad in his uniform: the suit hugs his large frame perfectly, showing every flex of his muscles, and his blonde hair is neatly parted. the black tie looped around his neck just pulls it all together. it has you weak at the knees every. single. time.
“hey,” you answer, giving reiner a smile as he stops beside you.
and that’s when your heart lurches at the sight of him.
the sunset highlights reiner’s profile in gold, a heavenly shine that settles upon his blonde lashes and the flawless slope of his nose. the flecks in his irises sparkle – a beautiful mixture of soft browns and muted greens. the only thing you can do right now is admire the man.
his words are what breaks you out of your daydream.
“work has been crazy lately, huh?” reiner says, focused on the candy-floss clouds and their fluffy shapes.
“well - yeah, pretty much. i don’t want to look at a pen or a piece of paper ever again.”
“that bad?”
“you have no idea. i almost regret marley and paradis reconciling.”
reiner chuckles gently at the joke, but it’s strained. his forehead remains creased, and he’s not really smiling. the emotion there is more … doubtful. it’s like he’s having some sort of inner conflict.
hopefully reiner’s not acting cautious because of the other day. you know he doesn’t return your feelings, and that’s totally okay. you’re happy enough being with him like this. “i’m not mad or anything, y’know.”
reiner stiffens at that. there’s a white flash of teeth when he chews on his lower lip. “i know.”
“good,” you hum, breathing out a sigh of relief. your core twists with envy when you force a grin. bite it back. tease him like always. “so about historia … ”
reiner’s eyes go wide almost comically, and you hear the breath in his lungs leave his firm chest in one exhale. there’s a light blush staining his cheeks now. it’s funny; he’s so goddamn big, yet he’s such a teddy bear.
“y-yeah,” reiner mutters. you observe the way his brows pinch together as he awkwardly shifts in place. it takes a while before the man composes himself again, which is strange.
is he scared or something? what the hell?
“pieck,” reiner hesitates for a moment. the golden strands of his hair ruffle in the wind and he appears ... well, lost. “was she being serious?”
the question is a shocker - jeez, he could have at least let you prepare yourself. a firm ‘no’ almost slips out, but you’ve never been much of a liar. not to reiner, anyway. crossing your arms against your chest, you inhale sharply and nod. avoid staring at him face-to-face. “yep.”
“ … why me?”
reiner says the words with a mixture of spite and anguish, a casual and rumbling voice. you immediately turn your head, frowning. “what?”
“i’ve done so many horrible things.” reiner exhales heavily and stares down at his hands; perhaps he’s imagining all the blood they’ve been stained with. “i betrayed everyone. i killed innocent people - all because i was selfish.”
it’s no surprise that reiner is broken after everything he’s been through, but it pains you to know that he continues to suffer in silence. whatever war is raging inside his ribcage tears him apart piece by piece, and you wish you could carry the burden.
there’s probably nothing you can say to convince reiner that he was just a kid, a victim of circumstance. there’s nothing that can persuade him to see himself the way you do.
so you decide to tell reiner why you love him.
you explain the amount of admiration you hold for him. tell him that you love the way he just wants to be someone his comrades can lean on, like a big brother. tell him that you think he’s the most gorgeous person you’ve ever seen and how you think he deserves the world.
the way you spill your guts out snaps every nerve in your body. you don’t say everything you want to – but you tell him enough. a dark flush spreading across your face, you find the courage to look at him.
the world seems to stop on its axis when you find reiner staring right on back. the intensity of his eyes is stunning; they’re lit up with astonishment and affection.
god, the affection. you see it clear as day. maybe one of the greatest regrets in his life is how he forced himself to see you only as a friend.
that’s when he reaches out to you.
reiner retracts his hand twice, unsure, before slowly brushing his fingertips against yours. the touch is so feather-light that you almost can’t feel it. it’s a test - he’s waiting to see if you pull away. you can’t even move if you wanted to, because his fond gaze keeps you rooted to the spot before him.
when you don’t recoil, reiner finally moves to gently hold your hand; his palm is so much bigger than yours, and your fingers slot together perfectly, like a jigsaw puzzle’s final piece.
heart thrumming like a hummingbird has been stuffed into your chest, you’re almost at a loss for words and come to a realization.
this utterly amazing man likes you. always has.
but reiner shoved away the feelings for one simple reason; you deserved ‘better.’ focusing on the old crush he had on historia was a distraction - an attempt to convince himself to stop thinking about you.
because looking at you everyday and not being able to act upon his feelings was too painful.
“is this okay?” reiner asks lowly. there’s a slight pinkness to his cheeks, the color of a selfless love.
by some miracle, you manage to nod dumbly. “yeah, of course. it’s fine.” it’s amazing is what you actually want to say.
reiner squeezes your hand at the reassurance, a sigh escaping from his throat. “i really—”
you wait for him to finish, but he doesn’t. reiner just searches your profile for signs of discomfort, and then untwines your hands to bravely swipe a thumb along the length of your cheekbone.
there’s no time to speak because he’s already leaning down.
the sensation of reiner’s lips pressing against yours lights your skin ablaze; you can feel the curling flames of passion sear your soul, made even more intense by the warmth of the sunlight on your back.
it’s natural, it’s tender, it’s warm.
reiner’s breath rattles into your mouth when you rest both palms against his solid chest and deepen the kiss. the musky smell of his aftershave and cologne envelops you completely, and fuck, it’s so good. your arms wrap around him, fingers passing over the sharp slopes of his shoulder blades.
as much as you wish the kiss could go on endlessly, there are people gathering outside. avoiding any unwanted attention from nosy strangers is very much appreciated.
you pull away to nuzzle your nose into reiner, and he rests his chin on your shoulder, protective arms moving to loop around your waist. it’s such an intimate caress that it sparks your brain into overdrive.
as the rushing sound of the breeze comes back to your ears through the quiet, you tuck the kiss away to be remembered forever. that’s all there is to it. being close to reiner like this - swaying together like wildflowers in the wind - is more important than anything else.
“i like you,” reiner murmurs.
the suddenness of it makes you laugh, and you can feel the upward quirk of reiner’s lips - a whisper of a peaceful smile and a sweet, sweet promise.

⤷ AN EIGHT-LEGGED PROBLEM
Tumblr media
OIKAWA TOORU & SAKUSA KIYOOMI & HAIBA LEV & MIYA ATSUMU X READER -> 1.8K
you save your boyfriend from a massive problem which is currently in the corner of your bathroom )
Tumblr media
REQUEST -> n/a
CONTAINS -> spiders, bugs, you picking up said creepy crawlies, hq boys being no! help! at! all! (but that's ok bc we love them for it), fanon-ish sakusa cos i haven't read the manga and he had like 5 seconds of screen time so i'm just going off of what i've read + seen, clear favouritism despite the fact that i know basically nothing about sakusa, manga timeskip spoilers in sakusa's
MORI'S THOUGHTS -> haven't seen one where the reader is the one in the relationship who takes care of bugs so since i'm a #girlboss who throws spiders out of my room whenever i see them without breaking a sweat i'm writing that into a fun lil thing with the haikyuu boys that i strongly believe are scared of bugs. also besides the point but look at the pretty colour palette that their banners make fjfjfjdj will go back to writing the requests after this! inspiration just struck
Tumblr media
❍ OIKAWA TOORU
-> omg this fucking guy
-> don't let his pride fool you this man HATES bugs with a burning passion
-> he'll never admit it though
-> between you and the aoba johsai team he would never hear the end of how the great king oikawa would cower at the sight of a moth doing laps around a lightbulb
-> so when you pretended not to hear the shriek that left your boyfriend when he saw something flying around the bathroom light and he declined your offer to get rid of the moth for him, this left oikawa in a pretty difficult situation
-> it was just him alone in the bathroom, trying to brush his teeth while eyeing the bug warily
-> you came in a few minutes later, getting ready to go to bed as well
-> "you know, babe, that moth's been there for quite a while," you teased him
-> oikawa hummed in response, his eyes never leaving it as it continued its circumnavigation of the light fixture
-> "oh, you know. who am i to kick someone out of their home? i'm no monster"
-> you almost snorted at how poor of an excuse that was, but ruffled your boyfriend's hair anyway
-> "i'll take care of it, ru, you just finish getting ready"
-> "but y/n-chan, that moth has feelings! don't be mean to it!"
-> you gave tooru a very blank stare at that
-> "so do you want me to leave you alone with your new friend?"
-> "......no"
-> "that's what i thought"
-> you went up to the moth, managing to trap it in your hands before releasing it from a window
-> oikawa shuddered as you came back to the sink, giving your hands a quick rinse before resuming with brushing your teeth like nothing had happened
-> "you're so brave, my love"
-> "anything for you, babe"
❍ SAKUSA KIYOOMI
-> bless this poor boy
-> so it's no secret that sakusa isn't the fondest of germs
-> and that extends to bugs and spiders too
-> besides a normal amount of disgust that he held for them, the thought of where the insects had been or placed one of their many feet on never failed to make his skin crawl
-> that's where you, his wonderful significant other, comes in
-> as much as he loves you, he just can't understand how you always stared at bugs with wonder in your eyes
-> you'd even pick them up, cooing at the way they crawled up your arm while sakusa just stared at you in disbelief with a can of bug spray in hand
-> tonight was one of those swelteringly hot summer nights
-> you know, the ones where the air seems to be still no matter how many windows you open and every insect in a mile radius is actively trying to enter your home
-> you were spending the night at your boyfriend's apartment, ready to have a relaxing night in with him since your schedules had finally synced up and allowed you both to enjoy a day off at the same time
-> it took months of trust before sakusa finally admitted to you how much he enjoyed doing skincare
-> so whenever you two spent the night together, you decided to start the evening with some face masks and idle binging of a tv show
-> against his half-hearted protests, you had insisted that sakusa wore a headband while this happened (one that had a very cute duck face printed on it)
-> just to keep the curls out of his face, of course
-> whenever he caught you sneaking a candid of him with facemask and duck headband on, he just shot you a halfhearted glare and threatened you to never send that to atsumu or the rest of the msby team
-> (you set it as your home screen instead)
-> anyways, i digress
-> so tonight you decided to cool down from the heat with a few facemasks and cuddling in your boyfriend's heavily air conditioned living room
-> but he kept all his skincare stuff in the bathroom, so you went to go get them as he set up a show to watch along with some snacks
-> you flicked on the light, going to his cabinet when something in the corner of the room caught your eye
-> there was a fairly large spider, desperately trying to crawl up the smooth tile wall
-> you decided to take pity on it and release it
-> but when you had it cupped safely in your hands, you decided to terrorise your poor boyfriend just a little
-> "hey, omi, look what i found!"
-> your boyfriend perked up at your signature nickname for him, though his eyes narrowed as he saw your clasped hands held in front of you
-> "no"
-> "but baby, you haven't even seen-"
-> "no"
-> you giggled at how defensive he had become
-> "come on, don't you want to name it? it's very cute"
-> "i want you to throw it out, y/n"
-> "alright, alright"
-> you took the spider to a window, releasing it back outside before heading back to the bathroom and grabbing a few masks for real this time
-> sakusa gave you the cold shoulder as you sat down next to him, humming as you gave him a face mask and putting it on without a word
-> "aww, baby, i'm sorry"
-> "..."
-> "i'll give you a head massage if you stop ignoring me?"
-> sakusa turned to you, his eyes narrowed in thought as he stared you down
-> the act soon broke, though, and he smiled against the sheet mask that was on his face
-> "it better be a good one," he huffed as he tugged the duck headband off, already sighing at the sensation of your fingers against his scalp
-> "omi, come on, what do you take me for?"
❍ HAIBA LEV
-> ngl lev gives off equal amounts of being terrified of like the tiniest spider or just finding bugs insanely cool vibes
-> it's funnier to imagine this 6-foot-something guy scramble away from a fucking crane fly in terror though so this is how it's going to play out
-> when you invited your giant of a boyfriend to your flat, you didn't anticipate just how small he made everything appear
-> he even towered in your doorway, having to stoop to step through into your hall
-> "woahh, i love your place!"
-> it was his first time staying over for the night, and lev was making sure to drink in every aspect of your interior design
-> you found it sweet of him, and watched as he stared in wide-eyed wonder at the little trinkets you had collected over the years to make your small apartment seem more like a home
-> you didn't expect him to scream at the top of his lungs and practically run back to you, though
-> you jumped at the sound, watching as he scrambled away from your lamp and pointed back at it with a shaking finger
-> you squinted at it, making out the very menacing form of a crane fly as it bumped into the lampshade and continued on its path
-> "lev, you big baby," you giggled, heading to the kitchen to grab a glass and trap it
-> "y/n, don't leave me alone with it!" he yelped, and you rolled your eyes at his antics
-> you came back, smoothly capturing the insect and throwing it out of a nearby window
-> lev was sat on your couch the whole time, hands covering his eyes as he curled in a ball
-> "is it gone?" he asked, and you you giggled at how childlike he was acting at the moment
-> "it's all good, baby" you smoothed his hair and lev gratefully leaned into your touch, a sigh of relief leaving him
-> "thank you, y/n"
-> "i'll get rid of all the bugs in the world for you, lev"
❍ MIYA ATSUMU
-> gives off the vibes that he used to eat bugs as a child i'm sorry but
-> have mercy on his soul lmao
-> so twins are supposed to be identical right?
-> anyone who spends more than a few minutes around the miya twins know that that's a complete fucking lie
-> and you've had the misfortune of being friends with them for a very long time
-> like your mums were friends and you were all born around the same time
-> you've been pulled into their shit before you could walk or talk
-> so you're well aware of just how different these mfs are
-> even though they were both absolute bastards, osamu always had a slightly more mellowed out approach which would always end up with atsumu getting the blame for what they got up to
-> especially as a child, osamu loved to terrorise his twin with the unwilling help of you
-> one of the ways was through osamu exploiting one of his twins' fears
-> that being bugs and spiders
-> he always cackled at the sight of atsumu screaming and trying to run away from him due to the spider he was holding
-> as they both grew up, this became less of a frequent thing for osamu to do
-> you also somehow started dating atsumu, but nobody could exactly pinpoint a moment that signified a beginning to your relationship
-> but since you're dating the world's biggest manchild in disguise, and osamu gets annoyed with atsumu quite easily, you would have to swoop in to rescue him from time to time
-> recently the twins had been getting a little snappy with each other, and it had yet to sort itself out
-> from what you had heard your boyfriend was in the wrong this time, but you still listened to him whine and rant about it
-> you were going to the inarizaki school gym to say hi to your boyfriend and best friend before practice started, only to see absolute chaos unfolding
-> with kita yet to arrive, the twins were effectively unleashed and that much was clear with the way atsumu was practically screaming his head off as he ran around the gym
-> your eyes took in the rest of the players- aran had his head in his hands, suna was snickering with his phone out to record the newest miya twin fight, and osamu's deranged laugh could be heard above everything else as he chased his brother, hand held out in front of him
-> only one thing was capable of making atsumu scream like that, so you already knew what was happening
-> atsumu quickly spotted you hovering in the doorway, and made a beeline to where you were
-> his eyes were panicked, and you were quick to wrap him in a hug as you shot osamu a nasty glare over his shoulder
-> literally this lmfao
-> "that's enough, 'samu"
-> your best friend paused, before a smile spread across his face as he dangled the centipede in front of him
-> "you know it was rubber, right?"
-> you felt your boyfriend tense in your arms and you bit your lip to stifle a small giggle
-> but at least they would be back to normal by the end of today

Summary: You finally see Norman again.
Tumblr media
Life had to be the scariest thing you'd ever faced. It threw the bad, the good, the everything your way until you could barely stand. Until you were left broken and mangled and shattered. Life was scary. It was cruel. Yet somehow, today was different.
You thought it was a dream. After all, how could it be reality when the boy in front of you died a year and some months ago? He had been shipped out, left for dead because it was a part of his stupid escape plan.
So how was it he stood before you? Breathing? Smiling? Living?
The office door closed behind you with a soft click. It bathed the room in silence, as if for a moment, the world decided to give you a second to breathe. A second to take in the wonderous sight before you.
The boy's name stuck in your throat. He had changed, not only in height, but stature and appearance. Norman was older, and he grew up to be more handsome than any runway model could ever be.
"(Y/n)," he gently said. "I'm glad you're well."
That was all it took. One sentence and you tackled him in the tightest hug your trembling arms could muster. "Norman...!" To have his arms around you, to hear the beating of his heart--it was a relief. A miracle sent by the gods. "You’re so stupid!"
No, he was more than stupid. He had to be the dumbest boy alive to think that it was okay to sacrifice himself for the sake of your family. You all were supposed to escape together just like Emma said. No one was supposed to be left behind, yet Norman--bless his heart--acted on his own.
You hugged him as if he would disappear if you let go. "We were all supposed to leave together. But you--I thought you--shipped out--and then--!" You chocked on your words. What more could you say anyway?
You buried your face in the crook of his neck. The muffled sob that ripped through your throat was more than Norman could handle. His knees went weak and you both slowly sunk to the floor in a heap.
"I'm here." he gently said. "I'm not going anywhere (Y/n)."
Despite the steadiness in Norman's voice, his shoulders hitched, and he sniffled. "I'm here." he repeated. "I-I'm here." It sounded like he were reassuring himself that he wouldn't leave you so soon, as if he were scared too. Not for the way you sobbed and sobbed, but for the ache in his heart that seemed to beat in sync with yours.
Slowly, your sobs turned to quiet sniffles, which then silenced into nothing but tiny hiccups. You basked in Norman's warm embrace. He didn't hold you too tightly, as if he were afraid it would shatter you to pieces. Instead, he pulled you close to his side and leaned on his desk behind.
You rested your head on his chest, taking the time to memorise his scent. Parchment, the woods, and old books. You liked that, it was comforting to know he still smelled the same. On the other hand, his voice wasn’t as smooth or rounded as it once was. It was icy. No one seemed to notice that tiny sharpness that hit the end of each note he spoke. You wondered what could've made his kind heart harden.
Sure, Norman was still the same Norman you remembered, but something about the way he acted seemed off. He was clingy, much more than he ever was. Maybe he just missed you? No, that couldn't be right. Norman acted as if he were running out of time. He held you close and gently, as if these would be the last moments you'd see each other again. As if there wouldn't be a tomorrow.
You slowly pulled away to get a good look at Norman's face. His chin was slightly pointier, his cheeks less chubby and full. His lips twitched upwards into a comforting smile. It didn't quite reach his eyes because he looked so overwhelmingly tired. Your poor boy probably worked day and night to keep the hideout on its feet. It must be hard on him, you thought. Especially since he was revered as a god.
Norman's brows raised. "What's wrong?"
You took his thin hands in your own and gave them a good squeeze. "It's nothing. What about you?"
Ah yes, small talk. The perfect way to avoid any question thrown your way. Norman knew you well, sometimes even more than himself. When you asked simple questions such as these, that meant your mind laid elsewhere in a land he could never reach. Norman took that as a hint to drop the subject.
For now.
He wondered what invisible weight laid on your shoulders. Was it something as heavy as his? Perhaps your weight was worse and it ate away at you. Norman wished he could take that weight away and relieve you of that pain. He'd carry it all if he could, and it didn't matter to him if he'd die trying. This was you he was thinking about. He'd do anything for you.
"I've been okay," Norman vaguely responded. "But I have been busy, so I find it difficult to sleep sometimes.”
Norman liked to be honest, but you knew it was because that helped him figure out what was wrong with you. It was a game of tag. In this case being 'it' meant figuring out each others' worries through a back-and-forth match.
"You haven't been sleeping enough?" Your voice came out rather quiet as you traced invisible circles over the back of his hands. "Is that because you have so much work? Or do you refuse to get help?" Norman sat in a still silence and you sighed.
Of course.
This was your Norman after all. He always shouldered a burden too big for his shoulders to carry. It was always something so heavy, so terribly hard to balance by himself. If that burden grew any bigger, it would collapse, and that would be his downfall. But you wouldn't let that happen to your Norman. No, no, no. You'd take that burden from him, steal it if you had to, and be his crutch.
"What have you been doing here?" you quickly added. "As 'William Minerva', I mean?"
Norman looked unbearably uncomfortable. That little frown tugging at the edge of his lips was a tell-tale sign. “I’ve been getting a lot done." he carefully said. "In fact, I’ve figured out a way to end this. Once and for all.”
Norman began by explaining the first phase of his plan. The first phase had long been in motion. It started with the indiscriminate burning of cattle facilities, then the gathering of information, and continued on to pave the way for all the other phases you didn’t care to hear about.
The first few steps weren't too bad, but the final act in Norman's plan made your skin crawl. You half-wished you hadn’t asked him anything to begin with. Maybe it would have spared your appetite. Your grip on his thin hands loosened and loosened until your hands rested on your lap.
Norman wasn't so little anymore. He had grown up just a bit, but not in the way you wished to see. How could he think of something so cold-hearted and cruel? The extermination of all demons in Neverland was an act of genocide. If you re-called correctly, it was also considered a war crime.
Norman was smarter than that. He understood the consequence he'd have to face if that were the path he walked right? He understood that there were still other options right? Maybe you heard him wrong.
No.
You had to have heard him wrong. Norman wasn't ruthless like that. He was a ball of sunshine that made you smile whenever you were together.
"I see..." You tightly smiled. "So that's your plan on freeing everyone?" Norman nodded with a seriousness that took you back to the time he left everything to you and Ray and Emma.
You weren't mistaken then. Norman truly meant everything he said.
"Yes, that is my plan. It's been taking me a little longer than expected to set it in motion. I've decided to officially start tomorrow."
Tomorrow?
Your breath hitched. "Don't you think that's a bit hasty? What if...what if something goes wrong?" Norman smiled. It was hollow and wry and everything that he wasn't. "Don't worry. Fortunately, I've always been pretty good at getting what I want." You didn't return the smile, and you didn't want to say why.
Norman was quick to catch on. But of course he would catch on so quickly, this was Norman. Your Norman.
"Do you have a problem with my plan?" he inquired. You shook your head. "No, it's...it's not that." Yes, it was that. Your plan is dangerous even if it is good, you thought. Innocent lives wouldn't be spared, and that would spell an unfair fate for the demons who ate to survive.
You wanted to tell Norman why his plan was wrong, and why he didn't have to be so unforgiving about it. But then what? Why would he listen when you didn't have any better ideas? He seemed to have his mind set anyway, so no half-baked ideas would make a difference. And besides, he was the smartest person you knew. Maybe that was the only way out of the terrible fate all you cattle children faced.
"If you're okay with my plan," Norman said, "then what's bothering you (Y/n)?"
"It's still a lot for me to take in," you admitted with a plastic smile. "I guess I'm just shocked that you're, well, here." Norman smiled, this time with a genuine warmth. "I understand." He leaned down and placed a gentle kiss on your lips. "I'll see you at dinner."
Your cheeks burned. How bold of him. "Y-yeah, I'll see you at dinner." Norman let out a cute little chuckle that made your heart beat a little louder than it was supposed to. You hauled yourself off the floor and made your way to the door. Norman followed.
You flashed him a nervous smile, one that mixed in with your muddled worry and anxiousness. You glanced at his bright eyes. For a moment, they seemed to dim like the setting sun. It reminded you of Mama. When no one looked at her, she didn’t smile. She always looked so sad when she sat by herself, and maybe that was because she was.
"(Y/n)?"
Your fingers brushed against the doorknob. “Hm?”
"I want nothing more than to protect you and our family. I know you don't fully agree with me," his expression darkened. "But this is the way--the only way we can save everyone without spilling a single drop of blood."
For a moment, you forgot who you were speaking to. This wasn't the same boy you begged to run away with before he got shipped out. This wasn't the same boy who gently tucked a piece of hair behind your ear and sweetly complimented you. This boy--did you truly still know him? Was he still the Norman you grew up with and fell head-over-heels for?
You blinked and that dark look washed itself off his face. He strode up to you and placed a hand on your cheek--just like the day he was supposed to be harvested. Norman’s eyes were soft, softer than any blanket, and his lips pursed into a gentle frown. With his thumb, he wiped a stray tear away.
Why were you crying?
"Norman..." You couldn’t find the right words. There were none that could explain the suffering you endured in silence. You worried, not only for Norman, but your family and all those other people in the world you didn’t know about. Norman’s plan--oh how stupid it was--had it changed him? Had it forced him to guard his heart to keep a still mind?
You wondered what he endured while you went on your crazy adventures. At least you had your family, and Yuugo, Lucas, and all your friends. But Norman? He didn’t have anyone but himself. He carried the whole world. Alone. Had he been scared? Worried? Angry that no one came for him? Your heart clenched at the thought.
"Smile,” Norman said. “It’s okay, I promise. I'm here." He gathered you in his arms and you didn’t have the heart to protest. “How?” you whispered. “How were you able to do all this on your own?” Norman helplessly shrugged. “You could say I have connections, either that or I’m just lucky.”
“What will you do after this is all over?”
Norman went still again, as if he couldn’t answer your question. You heaved in a shaky breath. If Norman wasn’t going to give you a straight answer, then you’d squeeze it out of him. “Did anything else happen to you? I’m sure there’s a catch, isn’t there?”
It was like someone flipped a switch. One moment, you were a mess of tears, sorrow, and anguish. Now, something menacing laid in your voice. It was almost threatening, as if you were indirectly telling Norman to dare avoid the question. “I don’t want you dying trying to be everything at once,” you said. “Here you’re revered as a god, and if I know you, then it’s plain that you set yourself up like that. Don’t tell me you plan to die on us again.”
He stiffened.
“I know you Norman, don’t forget that. And because I love you, I don’t want to see you destroy yourself. I admit, I don’t know why you act like you’re going to leave again, but I’ll do everything in my power to stop you.” You pulled away and took his hands in yours. A small smile of reassurance made its way up your lips, but Norman didn’t return it.
No, he couldn’t. And despite all he did, he couldn’t lie straight to your face. Not like this.
Dinner cheered you up. The smiles and laughter that your family shared with Norman made you feel just a little bit better. But how long would it last? And how long would those smiles stay present? All the questions swarming in your mind made you feel sick to your stomach. There was too much to think about, and too little time to answer them.
You forced down the last of your food with a sigh and brought the plate to its respectful place. Everyone was too busy chatting and catching up to notice, but that was fine. It was better that way.
You made your way to a secluded walkway. It was in one of the calmer areas of the hideout that overlooked the lower levels. It was quiet, save for the distant chatter of Hayato and his friends. He let out a bright laugh that echoed through the vacant walkways. What a shame it would be to hear that disappear.
“So this is where you went.”
“I told you she’d be here.”
You whipped around in alarm. “Ray, Emma!”
Ray sharply looked you up and down. He raised a brow and you squirmed under his gaze. He gently bumped shoulders with you. “What’s wrong with you?”
You absentmindedly shrugged. “Nothing.”
“That’s what someone who’s not okay would say.” Emma noted. She settled by your side on the railing and flashed a bright smile. “You were so quiet at dinner today.”
You shook your head. Que another absentminded shrug and plastic smile. “I guess I just wanted to make sure everyone was okay.”
Ray sighed. “Everyone but you?” He leaned against the railing next to you. “Did you and Norman talk at all?”
You froze. ‘Yes’, was what you wanted to say, but no sound came out. The image of Norman’s matured face, the way his his soft lips hit your own, and his stupidly tall build crossed your mind.
Emma let out a gasp and slapped a hand over her mouth. “Ah!” she cried. “You’re all red!” You covered your hands with your face, ignoring Ray’s curious stare.
“What did you two talk about in his office anyway? Or should I say, do?” The glint in Ray’s eyes had subtext you didn’t want to recite out loud. “Rayyyyy,” you grumbled, “shut up.” He sent you a teasing grin as Emma frowned in confusion. “I don’t get it.”
“You’ll understand when you’re older.”
“Yeah, it’s grown up stuff.”
You ignored the warmth spreading to your cheeks and elbowed Ray. “Don’t say it like ‘that’! Now you make it sound like something else!”
He daringly raised a brow. “Like what?” You ran a hand over your scorching face. It was a miracle you weren’t on fire. “No, no, I’m not answering you!”
You shared a good laugh and a comfortable silence began to settle, blanketing your shoulders in a lightness that you hadn’t felt in a while.
Emma softly smiled. “I’m glad we found you.” she admitted. “You looked really sad all by yourself out here.” Ray nodded with a small snort. “Yeah, talk about depressing. But seriously though, did something..?”
Of course these two would see through your façade. Of course they’d understand something was wrong. They were your family, and they didn’t deserve your silence. Your smile shattered. “I don’t know if Norman told you about his plan yet, but it’s...it’s bad. Sure, the demons have done some terrible things to us, but that doesn’t mean all of them are guilty. I want to stop him, but I don’t know how.”
Emma nodded in agreement. “He told us earlier and I don’t like it either.” she firmly said. “Ray and I talked it over and we have a plan, but it’s risky. Like, really risky. It has to do with the Seven Walls and...”
You held on to every word Emma and Ray spoke. Risky was your middle name. Well, not actually, but it was something that became your friend. You and your family looked death in the face too many times to count. What would be another?
By the end of it, you were sure this new plan would change Norman’s mind, or at least convince him to give up the whole ‘genocide’ thing. It was decided by Ray that tomorrow, you’d all talk to Norman. Things seemed to be looking up. No, they had to be.
------------
The halls were empty and you were alone. How was it you got lost in the first place? You made sure to have every twist and turn memorised, so why did you end up in the wrong corridor twice? Ray would surely tease you for getting lost. What an absolute--
You slammed into someone’s chest. A yelp escaped your throat as the person in question lost his footing. He sucked in a sharp breath and went tumbling straight into you. Your back hit the ground as the boy threw out his arms on either side of your head to brace himself. You didn’t need a name to know who you had tumbled into. Light hair, soft eyes, fancy waistcoat and suit.
“Norman?”
He hovered over you with wide eyes. His lips were inches from yours and he was just so, so close.
Thump, thump, thump.
Your heartbeat was so gosh dang loud. Could he hear it? Could he see the way your face burned red?
“Uhm--I--I--uh--”
Why wasn’t he moving? Why weren’t you moving? Why was it so hard to look him in the eyes? A nervous smile broke out across Norman’s lips. He pushed himself off of you and offered out a hand. You gingerly took it.
“Sorry.” Norman said, helping you to your feet. “I wasn’t looking where I was going. Are you okay?” Your gaze darted from his lips to his dazzling eyes and then to his cheeks dusted in red. Your heart wouldn’t stop slamming against your chest. It kept going, and going until you felt like you were about to burst.
“Sh-shouldn’t I be asking you that?” you retorted. “I’m not the one who--you know...gets sick all the time.” You weren’t sure why you said it like that, or why that made Norman smile so cutely, but he was smiling. That made your heart flutter. You glanced around the corridor a few times, and somehow, you kept finding focus on his lips.
What was wrong with you?
Norman caught on fast--like he always did. “Oh I see,” he said with a low chuckle. You swallowed. His voice really did deepen (but you kind of liked it). For a moment, you thought he caught onto your staring, but instead of commenting on it, he intertwined his hand with yours and led you through the winding halls.
“Don’t tell Ray I got lost.” you muttered. Norman laughed and it was like the sound of happiness itself. “I won’t.”
The halls all looked the exact same: cream coloured paint, nature-like decorations, and numbered wooden doors. You forgot what number your room was, so that was probably why you got lost. Norman took a sharp left where you recalled should be a right instead. “Wait isn’t it that way?”
“I have something to give you, so we’re going to make a quick detour.” Norman’s cheeks dusted pink and he looked the slightest bit nervous. “What is it you want to show me?” He flashed you a contagious smile. “It’s a surprise.”
“What kind of surprise?”
“I can’t tell you,” he said with a chuckle, “that’s why it’s called a surprise.”
When you got to his office, you were nervous. Surprises were fun, yes, but in a world where nearly getting eaten by wild demons fell into the category of ‘surprise’, you learned not to like them very much.
Norman closed the door behind you and it softly clicked shut. Okay, you thought. So he was locking the door and making his way over to his desk. Okay, that’s fine. Norman shuffled through a cabinet, that nervous look still on his face. Okay, okay, nothing wrong here. He gently shut the drawer, and as he walked out from behind his desk, you took note of the small little box he fiddled with.
Okay. Okay. Box. Nervous. Locked door. Did he not want anyone to interrupt whatever he was about to do?
Norman heaved in a deep breath. A really, really, really deep breath. “(Y/n), I have never met anyone else like you. You’re the strongest person I’ve ever met, and you’re beautiful and kind.” He sunk to one knee and opened the little box. “Will you marry me?”
“Yes!”
---------
You jolted awake with a start.
“Sorry,” Norman said. He scribbled a few words down in his notebook. “Did I wake you?”
Ah, that’s right. After you talked with Emma and Ray, you all met up with Norman and hung out for a bit. But when had you gotten to his office? Much less, fallen asleep? You rubbed your eyes with a shake of your head. Judging by the tired look on Norman’s face, it was way past bedtime.
The heavy cloak around your shoulders offered a welcoming warmth. It smelled like books. It smelled like parchment and ink. It smelled like Norman and it was comforting.
He glanced up from his notebook and curiously met your gaze. “What are you smiling at?” The dream popped up in your mind and your smile grew. “I had a good dream.”
“What was it about?” he inquired without looking up.
“You.”
The scratch of the pencil froze and he met your gaze. “You had a dream about me?” Your cheeks flushed. “Yeah, and you proposed.” Norman’s back went rigid and he turned as red as an apple. “I-I pro--proposed to you?” he stammered. You snickered, a smug smile tugging on your lips. “It was really sweet. And if you’re wondering, I said yes. I was going to kiss you, but then I woke up.” You stood up with a sigh. “It was disappointing, but that’s okay.”
You let out a small laugh and neatly folded Norman’s cloak. You left it on the couch and made your way across the room. “That’s a nice notebook.” you said. “What’re you writing about?”
Norman stilled and closed the book with a smile. “It’s nothing special.” He put the pencil down ever so quietly and stood. “Do you seek my affections?” he inquired. You settled on the wall. “Don’t you have work to do?” Norman looked down at you. His fringe brushed across his eyelashes, and he loosened his tie. Slowly.
Your heart steadily drummed against your chest. “What are you doing?” The false innocence in your voice caused Norman to chuckle lowly. He caressed your cheek with a feather-light touch. “Well, you did say you were disappointed right? Why don’t I make it up to you?”
He rested an arm on the wall with a sly smirk. Your lips connected and it made your stomach flip-flop. The kiss was slow, it was sweet. You found yourself pulling him closer, running your hands through his hair and yanking him over. "Norman?" He met your gaze with half-lidded eyes. "Yes (N/n)?"
"Where did you learn how to do that?"
He smirked and it was hot. The fact that he kept his arm braced against the wall didn’t help either. "Why?" he lowly inquired. "Do you like it?" Your breath caught in your throat and you found yourself wanting more.
Knock, knock!
Norman didn't look too happy about that. He ran a hand over your cheek and gently tucked a lock of hair behind your ear, that half-lidded look of his melting into warmth and love. He made his way to the door, tightening his tie and smoothing out his hair with a quick touch.
"Hello--?" Norman fell short mid-sentence. As soon as your gaze locked with the person on the other side, you understood why. Ray stood in the threshold, just as red-faced as you and Norman, with a sheepish look on his face. “I’ll come back later.” he muttered.
Oh great. Had he been eavesdropping? You glanced at Norman and he glanced at you, then Ray, and back to you. Ray sucked his teeth and stuffed his hands in his pockets. “Don’t have too much fun.” he said, a smirk twitching onto his lips.
You made your way to the threshold with a groan. “Rayyyy!”
“Yeah, yeah, don’t worry.” he coolly replied. “Do whatever, I didn’t see anything.”

Out of curiosity, what are your personal thoughts on the Hellsing members? Who do you like and what do you think of the characters in general, I’d love to know
This was fun thank you for asking I love talking about characters and things like that so its nice sharing my thoughts I would also love to see what everyone else thinks about them so please feel free to share as well! Note: I only used the main Hellsing members and let me know if you want more things like this! This is also mostly based on Hellsing Ultimate as it is the show I have seen most recently. Ps: some spoilers
Integra Hellsing
I love this women so much. I haven't seen Hellsing for a little now I really want to rewatch it but I know I have always loved Integra. Strong and smart Integra really helped make Hellsing Ultimate for me. She has so many things set against her from day one yet she never lets that stop her when she's doing anything! She is the leader and the power she has is amazing I think she amazing in everyway and yeah I could talk about her alot I love her! Integra Hellsing 10/10
Alucard
The man that started my love for vampires. Alucard is an amazing character. In every version he is always a highlight of it. Some main characters tend to fall flat as the show or manga go one but Alucard stays at a solid high point the whole time. He goes up against anything and revels in the violence of it while still holding bit of anguish from his life both old and new, that really sets him apart from others. I think he's really smart and fun to watch because in the end Alucard is still a villain he is just the lesser of two evils in the show and I enjoy that. Alucard 10/10
Seras Victoria
She's fun. I didn't think I would like Seras much but while I was watching the show she ended up being a really good character to share the spotlight with Alucard. They make a great team and Seras on her own is so amazing. She a badass women who gets to feel a range of emotion she has moments of weakness and strength and I think its balanced really well so she never feels like a bland MC. I also think she's just a really fun character who with out the show might feel a little less interesting I guess? Seras Victoria 10/10
Pip Bernadotte
One of my favorite character types just ever. Pip is so many things and I love them all. He tows the line of being to much in some cases but I feel like he never crosses it. An amazing leader a strong character who knows when he cant win but also knows giving up wont help here. His relationship with Seras is ok in the show its not the best developed but I still think it was done pretty well all thing considered. Pip is very fun and I think during such an important time he's a nice break for the most part and a good outside view of what's happening. I do really like him though and his character design is one of my favorites. Pip Bernadotte 8/10
Walter c. Dornez
Amazing and not at the same time. Walter is interesting in the fact that I liked him till right before the end. I think at the start Walter is a really cool character with my all time favorite weapon in the show but his betrayal at the end just doesn't work for me. It is hinted at but I also just didn't like it much his reason was eh for me. I will say his fight is really awesome and I think even with that he's still a pretty cool character but I wanted so much more from him. A slight let down but I still cant help but love him a little bit he is clever and very strong, being able to keep up with everyone is amazing. Walter C. Dornez 7/10
So like I dont remember the Hellsing series much I haven't seen it since I was a kid but after learning that Walter doesn't betray the Hellsing Family I now need to rewatch it so ya know I might talk about that soon! Thank you for reading and asking me this I hope you enjoyed and once more I would love to hear other peoples thought I hope this wasn't to repetitive. - Lilly

Hear me out: shameless spoilers for Four Knights of the Apocalypse and Seven Deadly Sins ahead.
What if Sin is Derrieres reincarnation?
Given the fox theme and name and eyes, the connection to Ban and Lancelot seems most obvious, but what if Nakaba is back in troll mode?
When Derriere died, Mael let her and Oslo have a reincarnation so they can get revenge on him if they wish to. They would keep their memories as well. Now there's a few things that don't exactly add up about that theory, but here's what I could think of so far:
Derriere has the same eyes as Ban. We haven't seen Sins eye color yet. For all we know it could be hers.
We have seen Sins furr tho, and it's the same pink as Derrieres eyes in the anime. (tho in the English translation Sin is described as a red fox, but pink and red, y'know)
Sin's attitude and use of language screams Derriere to me, if you read the manga with that comparison in the back of your mind. Sin's just trying to get these kids to Liones alive and god does he need a nap. Sounds about right for a 3000 year old elite soldier turned babysitter. I'm getting slight Witcher vibes.
In recent chapters Tristan asked Sin for his age. Sin said 3000, and at the kids shocked reaction claims to be kidding. Clearly not kidding from a story telling point of view.
Now here's what I can't wrap my head around in the Sin situation yet:
Let's be honest, Derriere would rather rot in hell than take a single order from Meliodas ever again, let alone serve him sitting on a throne.
I do see her doing Elizabeth favors tho, or generally hanging out with her.
The first thing we see of Sin, before we see what or who we're looking at, is the crystal around his neck. It has to be shit important. In illustrations we've seen it's kind of a light blue. Interesting.
Sin uses spell beads. Merlin's spell beads. Now we could assume they're just common by now, seeing as in NNT the Holy Knights used them during the ten year gap were Merlin was not with them, but:
It's been (even if in a side comment by Nasiens) specifically pointed out how Sin knows a lot about Arthur and his Chaos Knights. We could obviously shove that onto him being somewhat the mentor character and a tool for delivering exposition and shit, but he's been telling the kids a lot about Arthur for a while now, and it's the first time it's been pointed out. Stuff like that just rings alarm bells in my writer brain.
Then there's the most interesting scene we got of Sin so far, one that heavily implies the Sin is Lancelot theory: the one during the night before they pass the mountains. The kids ask why the mountains are so dangerous, Sin replies cause they make you see things. He examples specifically: your future self or even future lover. Then he gets called around by a ghost looking like a bride who knows his name. Implying that first of all Sin is not his real name. For obvious reasons I'm gonna assume that bride is Guinevere, AKA Arthurs beloved, the person whom Lancelot, should Nakaba stick to the bare bone of the Arthurian legends, will fall in love with. I really like that scene. I really like Sin.
Sin could be a completely new character that we still sort of know already for all we know. He could be Derriere (I really like the idea of a former Commandment, Demon Clan elite soldier babysitting a bunch of snutnosed somewhat Holy Knight apprentices). I don't see why Derriere would change her name tho if she kept her memories as Mael said she would.
Sin could also be a double agent for or against Camelot, a creature Arthur created or befriended and drove away again for obvious reasons, a straight up child/creature of Chaos, or one of Merlin's experiments. I do believe he has some connection to Chaos/Arthur/Camelot.
At first I thought he's Bans eyes and ears, in a literal way, but the personality doesn't fit. I do believe Sin to be their own person. Possibly Lancelot. Possibly someone else. Possibly the Knight of the Apocalypse with no fixed appearance (who is possibly Lancelot lol).
I'm excited to see how this plays out. We're still a loooooong way from any reveal that big I'd dare say, but once we get it oh boi am I gonna be insufferable about it.

I Want to Write a Mikayuu Series
Tumblr media
Okay.
So um.
If you're reading this, HELLO. All of you long time ONS fans probably don't know me, but I'm Alison and I'm a hardcore Mikayuu, Mitsunoa, Gureshin, etc shipper. I've been in the ONS fandom for almost a year and dear god. The amount of people telling me that Mikayuu is queerbait is just making me really sad 😅 I'm a writer, and I'm the type of person who honestly feels like the author of a series should have the ability to choose how a story ends without influence of their readers. I mean, if it's their story, then it should be their ending, right? However, I also do have some qualms when it comes to how this "love triangle" between Yu, Mika, and Shinoa is being portrayed. This is entirely my personal opinion, but I feel like Shinoa seems to be forcing herself to love Yu. I honestly don't think she cares for him in a romantic way, but more of a very deep-rooted admiration or even envy that she's trying to convince herself to be romantic love. And Yu has said multiple times that he values Mika's life above his own, that he doesn't know what he would do without him if he were to die again (I mean the fact that he suffered seeing his best friend and potential lover die a first time was definitely scarring enough, PLEASE STOP TORTURING OUR POOR BABIES). And it's basically confirmed by now that when Mika said I love you in the manga, it was in the romantic sense. Even though I wish, I hope, I dream, and I pray that Mikayuu will become canon, I honestly can't say for certain what I think will happen. I think it could sway any way, with Mikayuu becoming canon, Yu and Shinoa becoming canon, or it being one of those ambiguous endings where it's heavily implied but nothing actually happens. And in order to make myself feel better when stuff like this happens, I tend to rewrite the entire story with the ending that I would have liked to see ;)
You're probably wondering where the hell this stranger is going with this. Well, I want to write a book. A series, actually.
One that's inspired by Seraph of the End.
Now, if you're interested in hearing me out, then feel free to keep reading. But if not, continue on with your scrolling, no hard feelings. But if you do, and I really hope that you do, give me a chance to explain.
I want to write a series inspired by Seraph of the End called Bloodsucker (working title, obviously). And this series is going to be a reimagination of ONS with an ending that I would have loved to see in the anime and manga. I plan to have three main characters (please keep in mind that I'm going to have name changes): Yuichiro, Mikaela, and a brand new character, Epic.
Tumblr media
Now, I would begin this series a bit before the anime and I'm assuming the manga begins. I'd start with introducing our main three characters as they meet in the orphanage (yes, Epic would be a part of this orphanage as well) and how Epic and Yu try to make moves to run away only to be stopped by Mika and Akane.
I plan to include a scene between Epic and Akane where Epic tries to run out in the middle of the night only to be stopped by Akane, and this is what caused Epic to develop a crush on her (Epic is a girl btw). Then I would begin the whole shit with the vampires and how they set the world on fire and shit, but instead of the apocolypse, I'd make it so that most of the adults died in the fire while the kids were taken alive (because young blood is better and whatnot). This includes our little Hyakuya family. The directors would have tried to trade the kids lives for their own, and due to their selfishness, the vamps killed them and took the kids anyway.
This would begin my first story arc: the prewar.
Tumblr media
Epic, Akane, Mika, and Yu would all be living under the vampires at this point along with the rest of the kids in their orphanage. I plan to include lots of moments of bonding that heavily imply Epic loves Akane even though she doesn't know it yet and Mika loves Yu, but Yu is fucking oblivious. The four begin to plot their escape, but while Mika and Akane (yes Akane too) are making deals with the vampires to help out with their family, Epic is constantly finding herself getting dragged along to visit Queen Krul. The pink haired vamp has a soft spot for her for some reason and often tells her that Epic and her family are "special" or sum shit. And she's super confused and semi grossed out. But none of the vamps ever dare to hurt her so she thinks it's fine. Then one day they all plot their escape and it's much more planned out and lengthy and less rushed than it is in the anime. Things almost seem to work out until the vampires stop them
And Mika and Akane DIE.
I know. I'm horrid.
Epic is standing here in shock as she watches the love of her life die before her and Mika BEGS for Yu to take Epic and run while they can. So while in the series only Yu survives, he obeys Mika and both him and Epic survive this. They're found by Guren (a new character I haven't come up with yet lol) and Yu is super protective over Epic, not wanting anyone to take the only piece of his family he has left (he's a fucking mess without Mika let's just be honest) and Guren ends up taking them under his wing.
Now we hit the second arc. Still with me?
The War.
Tumblr media
Hold onto your hats everyone because this is where shit is about to get complicated. So I do plan to have a bit of a time skip into the current spot where Yu and Epic are attending school with Guren as their father figure and they've become very close. So close that Yu refuses to work with anyone else but her. They end up getting onto Shinoa Squad (obviously going to be completely different in my version) and they get put onto the battlefield. But here's the catch. Well, two catches.
Yu and Epic do have demon weapons. I do plan to try to incorporate that into this. BUT the backstory is different. I plan to make it so that the vampires obviously see the humans as fies. Insignificant things that are more playthings than threats. And they didn't want to have to deal with killing all of them, so they sent demons in their place to handle it. But the humans were able to form deals or "contracts" with the demons and therefore turned the vampires' own secret weapon against them.
Now, catch no. 2
So, Epic, Mika, and Yu aren't seraphs in this. But they are something else. I'm going to try to explain this as simply as I can, but each of them (besides Mika since he doesn't have a demon) have 3 souls inside their body:
Soul 1 is their current soul, the one that identifies as Mika or Epic or Yu.
Soul 2 is their demon soul, like what Asuramaru is to Yu.
And soul 3 is their archangel soul (I might change that name later on).
So I'm just going to come right out and say it. In this series, Epic is the villain.
Yes.
You read that right.
Epic is the villain. But she doesn't know that she is. These Soul 3s were reincarnated into the current bodies of Mika, Epic, and Ari (and I know that's not exactly how it works but screw logic this is just a fucking concept) from their lives centuries ago.
These souls existed way before vampires existed and Epic (or Essie) was very close friends with Yu (or Aytigin). Aytigin was in love with Haru (Mika) but for one reason or another, they couldn't be together. Essie wanted to do something, willing to do anything to make the two of them happy. So she made a deal that brought the vampires into creation so that Haru and Aytigin could be happy. She was willing to sacrifice everything that they stood for so that the two of them could be in love together.
She had good intentions, but of course Haru and Aytigin were furious because now the vampires were turning against the humans and they all basically died. Until they were reborn respectively, but unknowingly.
Now picking back up in the present, Yu and Epic are fighting in one of the main battles and the two are very confused when the vampires make a very deliberate attempt not to hurt Epic. They're unsure as to why, but Guren tells them not to worry about it.
Suspicious bastard.
Anyway, it's revealed finally that MIKA IS ALIVE
BUT HE'S ALSO DEAD
Yes he is a vampire. And Yu falls in love all over again upon seeing him, and after a bunch of struggling, Epic gets kidnapped. At first she gets strangled by Lacus and then she gets kidnapped by Ferid who doesn't kill her surprisingly.
Oh and uh... Ferid is nice in this. He's still a fucking creep, but he's a lot nicer than he is in the series. I plan to make Queen Krul or whoever I turn her into be the villain.
Tumblr media
Anyway, they take Epic back to the vampire palace or whatever and Queen Krul and Epic are reunited! And Krul is the one who reveals to Epic exactly who she, Mika, and Yu are and this is what sparks Epic's fall to insanity.
I mean, she's the killer. She's the one who brought them into this world. She's responsible for every death the vampires cause.
I would go crazy too.
So, she manages to escape (partially thanks to Mika) and the two join Yu and the others again and it's revealed a second time exactly what is going on. And while no one actually blames Epic on the Shinoa Squad, that doesn't stop people like Kureto and even herself from blaming.
And this causes her demon to go haywire.
She begins losing her marbles, almost killing her teammates and trying to kill herself, all while the three begin to experience dreams or visions of their Soul 3s.
While all this shit is going on, there's heavy romance between Mika and Yu because these two lovers just got reunited and FUCK did they have glow ups but yes -
Oh. And there is another spark for Epic, even though she doesn't think she's worthy of love.
Okay. I'm just gonna say it.
Lacus falls in love with Epic. Yes. You read that correctly too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I plan to make the two of them get trapped together at some point and they have to work together to escape. It's during this time that Epic realizes he's not all that bad and has some form of self control and he realizes that she's the most interesting thing he's ever met in this disgusting and boring life and damn do her eyes look pretty-
But yes. She forms a permanent alliance with him that he jokes about as marriage and they meet on other occassions too, but lol yes.
Anyway, blah blah blah, more fall to insanity, the Soul 3s take over their bodies on multiple occasions and there's a lot of bonding and fighting and Epic and Mika somehow manage to get some of the vampires on the human side.
And in the end, Epic and Yu basically sacifice themselves to save the human race and kill Queen Krul. It's a very rough ending I haven't quite perfected yet, but Yu has a moment like he did with the King of Salt. But though he inflicted a lot of damage, it's not enough. So while the team is worried about him, Epic takes this opportunity to fix her and Essie's mistakes.
She allows both Essie and her demon to take control of her body and dies on the battlefield. Queen Krul is eliminated. Most of the vampires are gone. The humans won.
Horray.
Epic is dead.
Kinda. Yu and Mika take her back home and this is the preview to the last arc where everyone's in the hospital and Epic's in a coma. Mika and Yu barely ever leave her side and it's only when Lacus of all people comes to visit that she fucking wakes up.
Okay. Are you still with me? Now come with me to the final arc.
The Post-War.
Tumblr media
No my friend. It doesn't end there. Because Mika and Lacus are still vamps and life still sucks and I drank too much coffee this morning.
No it's not over yet.
So flash forward a couple years and Kureto and Crew are working as the heads of this city. Stuff is being rebuilt, people are settling down in homes, Lacus and some of the other "good" vampires find jobs, and Mika, Yu, and Epic get a house together (in case I didn't mention before, Epic is pansexual. She loved Akane dearly and I plan to include scenes where she sees her in her mind and dreams like Mikayuu so she's never truly gone, but she falls for Lacus too when he's not being a sadistic asshole). Things are going strangely when
BAM. Epic and Yu come up with a cure for vampirism.
How, you may ask? I don't fucking know, I haven't read about it in the manga yet but before we come up with an idea for it, imma say they came up with it through a spell. They share their findings with Guren and soon all vampires are being cured, most notably Mika, Lacus, and even Rene.
BUT and there's always a but, Kureto passes a new law claiming all vampires to be property. That any vampire or previous vampire or even vampire supporter/owner that tries to disobey these new laws is to be killed immediately. Now Epic and Yu are in jeopardy because their ex-vampires are in danger (Epic and Lacus have been hanging out a lot more and he's proven himself to be a decent guy. Contrary to popular belief, I headcanon him as not really knowing what to do when he actually cares about someone since he's been a heartless vamp for so long. So when he turns to Mika and begrudgingly asks him for LOVE ADVICE of all fucking things, Mika is ready to die). So basically, Mika and Lacus end up getting locked up along with the other ex-vamps (including Ferid which was a pain in the ass) and did I forget to mention that there's a proposal?
Oh yeah, Yu proposes to Mika and the blond still has yet to give him an actual answer because poor baby is still having a hard time accepting that Yu can love a "monster" like him.
But anyways, now Epic and Yu are furious and SHINOA SQUAD IS BACK IN BUSINESS. With the help of Guren and Shinya and everyone, they form a sort of rebellion and blah blah blah they manage to get Mika and Lacus and everyone out and blah blah blah they all get separated and Lacus begins to get INSANELY protective of Epic and ends up confessing his feelings to her before he nearly dies and blah blah blah did I forget to mention that I'm making Mitsunnoa and Kimizuki x Yoichi canon and blah blah blah.
Epic kisses Lacus as an instinct. Lacus kisses her again. Mika accepts Yu's proposal then almost dies AGAIN. I kill off some characters for emotional tugs and after a ton of more fighting and revenge and psychological breakings later, Kureto is killed. And Guren (or someone else haven't decided yet) is the new head of their city.
Epic, Mika, and Yu finally let Akane and the kids go. There's a lot of Shinoa Squad bonding but this is a summary so I haven't included much besides the main three. Epic and Lacus becomes canon. Mika and Yu get married. Guren and Shinya get married. Shinoa gets pregnant.
And everyone gets the FUCKING HAPPY ENDING THAT THEY ALL FUCKING DESERVE BECAUSE FUCK
I do plan to be slightly ruthless like the creator and include a lot of heartbreaking scenes, but it's going to be much different than ONS but I still want it to hold on to some core relationships.
I just want them to be happy. And I just want to make other people happy because fuck I JUST WANT TO BE HAPPY
So. Yeah.
That's Bloodsucker...
So my question to you is... if I wrote this shit.
If I sat down and typed about 30 books roughly inspired by Seraph of the End and Mikayuu and Mitsunnoa and shit...
Would anyone read it?

haikyuu manga spoilers if you haven't read it
Tumblr media
but i think about this moment a lot, specifically takeda's quote "this is also volleyball." i have played volleyball competitively for the last 11 years of my life, i've played year round on club teams, i was a 4 year varsity player in high school, and i made the choice to focus on academics rather than pursue it in college.
i'm so much sadder than i thought i would be.
playing so much, i've certainly won, but i've also lost. a lot. tough games, games against friends, games that i just wanted so badly that hearing that final whistle, having to give high fives and walk off the court brought angry and frustrated tears to my eyes. i've also been injured, had to sit out whole games because of fucked up ankles, felt the moment in the match where i know i just hurt some part of myself, be it a finger, a knee, another ankle, god forbid, and i knew i would have to leave the court.
volleyball has been one of the defining loves of my life, but it also hurts. i've been a 6 rotation outside hitter and captain in most of my teams for the last 5 years, and you want more than anything to be an anchor for your team. i don't want to leave the court because they are supposed to be able to count on me. to send me the set when the rally is getting long and we just really need a point. they need me to help cover serve receive when the other girls are having bad days. even on days where it seems like i keep getting blocked, or i keep shanking passes, they trust me. they give me the ball anyway. which is why having to step off of that court feels like an arrow straight to my heart and my pride. it feels like i've just completely failed, because once i'm off that court i can't touch the ball.
now that's all how i feel about volleyball, but we know hinata lives and breathes the sport. he puts in endless hours of practice, devotes all of his heart and mind and time to the sport, and wants nothing more than to keep playing it, forever. overexerting himself to the point where he has to leave the game is the absolute worst thing, in this moment, that could happen to him. he is broken and devastated and still desperately clinging to his assertion that he isn't injured, he can still play.
and takeda, their coach takeda, who knew nothing about volleyball and still promised to coach these boys. who begged and begged ukai to join, who fought to earn them practice matches and served as their unwavering motivation throughout the series. takeda has to do the hardest part of coaching, which is telling hinata, his kid, who he has grown to love, that it just can't work out this time. that he has to stop playing volleyball.
takeda says "this is also volleyball." because he needs hinata to use this as a learning moment, as fuel for the next time he is well enough to step onto the court, or else it could shatter him completely. takeda says "this is also volleyball." because the game has never been about height or experience or knowledge, hinata started with none of those and he still managed to make it to nationals, to the biggest stage available to him. volleyball is a game of heart, and hinata is bursting at the seams with that. "this is also volleyball," because hinata is strong enough to not let this set him back or damage his love for the sport. hinata is strong enough to trust his team and do what is best for them in this moment, even if it breaks his heart to do so.
takeda tells hinata that yes, volleyball is jumping and spiking and miraculous receives, volleyball is celebrating with your team, late night practices and early morning workouts, years of practicing alone in the corner of gyms, finding community, finding family. volleyball is love, volleyball is like breathing, like waking up in the morning, like opening your eyes. but "this is also volleyball." volleyball hurts. sometimes you lose. sometimes you get sick. it's about knowing when to take a step back and regroup, rather than letting your own wants and desires get in the way of the teams success.
hinata loves volleyball but takeda loves hinata, loves him fiercely. he has seen him grow from an eager kid who didn't really know anything beyond the very basics of the sport into a player that is constantly surprising people and doing what others thought was impossible. it is because takeda loves hinata so much that he has to look into his teary eyes, hold his hands and tell him, "this is also volleyball." this is just one more thing that you must overcome. this is just one more wall in front of you that you have to figure out how to get around. and really, after all this time, what's one more summit? "figure out how to win."
and because hinata loves takeda right back, he grits his teeth, and thinks about his next move.
