Band-aids and too many scars | Jason Todd centric
info/warnings:
SFW age regression, little! Jason, slight cg! Bruce, slight cg! Alfred, lots of fluff with a dash of angst (only a sentence)
batman masterlist
song: little space - sxye
———
It's not the first time Jason finds himself in this position, breaking into Wayne Manor and crawling through his adoptive dads bedroom window while said dad is away at some fancy gala or work meeting, and it's also not the first time that Bruce's bedroom window has been left unlocked and Jason wonders if it's on purpose- if Bruce is aware of what his second son is doing, breaking into his room and regressing to the age of a child to relive the childhood he didn't get to experience, and if Bruce is intentionally leaving the window unlocked to make Jason's feats easier. Either way, Jason tries not to think about it too much, because he really doesn't want Bruce to know about his regression, even if Bruce is the one person Jason craves when he's slipped into that state of mind, and instead he just chooses to believe that the constantly unlocked window is merely a coincidence.
Today, Bruce is attending one of the many galas Alfred urges him to go to in attempt to keep up appearances, and Alfred is with him as part of his "butler duties" as he calls them. Dick is still in Blüdhaven, Tim is on a date with his boyfriend, and Damien is... Jason isn't sure actually- that kid can disappear- but he's not at the manor, so Jason's happy (yes, Jason stalks his family, so what? it's not weird-). Since no one is home, it's the perfect time for Jason to indulge in his coping mechanism, which just so happens to involve breaking into his dad's bedroom, yes- but, in Jason's defense, being in the head space of child makes him crave his childhood home and the comforting smell of his Daddy's cologne, okay?
Speaking of his Daddy, little Jay is currently sitting on his Daddy's king-sized bed, pulling little gear out of the small, black backpack he brought with him. The first item Jay pulls out is his black bat Hello Kitty stuffed animal, a Beanie Baby Halloween plush in an orange outfit with details in the same color. Next, he pulls out two coloring books, the first being Superhero themed and the second being of the Lisa Frank brand; he also grabs a few small packages of crayons. The last thing Jay grabs from his bag is his pacifier, black with a red handle, decorated with a small array of stickers.
Jay slips the paci into his mouth, lightly suckling, and opens his Lisa Frank coloring book; he flips to a page of a girl in a princess dress, standing on what looks like a castle wall, a vase of flowers on the floor next to her. Grabbing a light brown crayon, Jay colors her skin first, then switches the color to a dark purple to color the girls curly hair, lips, and eyeshadow. Next, he grabs hot pink to color her dress, switching to a light pink to color the big bow on the front of her gown. Jay then moves onto the flowers, filling them in with different shades of purple and pink, then colors the vase with a orange-ish-brown. Finally, Jay colors the castle walls grey, switching between dark and light shades for every other brick.
The little continues coloring for a while, filling in a couple more pages, the last he does being a picture of Batman from his Superhero book, a present for his Daddy when he's finished, though he knows he'd never actually give it to the man (Jay wipes away the tears building up in his eyes with a sniffle, wishing the thought away). Once the picture is fully colored, Jay smiles at his work with pride, before a small yawn escapes his lips, muffled by his paci. His eyes start to close and his shoulders begin to droop, and the boy realizes just how sleepy he is and lies down on side, curling in on himself and grabbing his Hello Kitty stuffie to cuddle up to his chest. In his small, sleepy state, Jay falls asleep in the comfort of his Daddy's bed, forgetting that he really isn't supposed to be there in the first place.
———
When Bruce comes home and steps into his room, the last thing he expects to see is his second son asleep on his bed with a stuffed animal in his arms, an adult pacifier in his mouth, and a mess of crayons and coloring books next to the boy's body. The man takes in the sight before him, a fond, although slightly confused, smile on his lips.
Alfred comes up behind Bruce, wondering why his Master has stopped in the middle of his doorway with a genuine happiness on his face, though the butler immediately understands when his eyes lay on Jason, and he smiles, too, then whispers, "It seems Master Jason has made a mess. Shall I clean up for him?"
Bruce nods, though advises Alfred to be quiet, careful, not wanting to risk waking his sleeping son, then lightly walks towards his closet to change out of his suit and into more comfortable clothes. Alfred understands and quietly puts away all the crayons in their respective boxes, going as far as to put them in color order, then moves to pick up the coloring books, eyes widening when he sees the open page of a fully colored Batman. The butler waves over Bruce, who is pulling on a shirt, and shows him the carefully colored picture, hand drawn hearts covering the border as well as the single word, "Daddy".
Grinning, Bruce takes in the picture, asking Alfred to rip it out of the coloring book for Bruce to keep (Alfred has always been better at tearing along perforated lines than Bruce). Alfred does as asked, then gently puts the packages of crayons and coloring books into the backpack at the end of the bed, making sure to keep the Batman page out. As he does this, Jason shivers from his spot on Bruce's bed, a mumbled, "Daddy" falling from his lips as his pacifier gently slips out of his mouth and onto the bed next to him. Both Alfred and Bruce smile warmly at the sight, and Bruce grabs the fuzzy blanket at the end of his bed and gently covers his son with it. He then grabs the pacifier, asking Alfred to clean it off, then slowly pushes it back between his sons' lips. Once Jason is warm and comfortable, and the bed is clean, Bruce and Alfred both quietly make their way out of the bedroom, Bruce slowly shutting the door behind him with the coloring page in hand.
Together, the Master and his butler search the internet for answers to Jason's behavior and learn about the terms Age Regression and Little Space, quickly understanding the coping mechanism and how and why it would benefit Jason.
———
When Jason wakes up, all his coloring tools are put away, and moonlight shines in through the window he came in. His eyes widen, realization setting in; someone saw him. Quickly, Jason shoves his pacifier and stuffed animal into his bag, momentarily pausing when he comes across a plastic baggie filled with chocolate chips cookies. A light blush spreading across his tanned cheeks, Jason shakes his head, leaving the same way he came in.
(He eats the cookies when he gets to his apartment, the taste immediately giving away who baked them: Alfred. Jason smiles.)

Cg jayson having to leave his littles with bruse and Alfred for the first time and leaving them with a list of instructions, sensory issues, safe snacks and comfort shows
Omg omg! You’re a genius Mothy!
Tumblr media
Everyone was entirely surprised when they met you!
Not only because you’re the most adorable thing they’ve ever seen, and they simply cannot comprehend it
But because they never expected to see Jason with someone so… wholesome
There was no question about it, you’re instantly part of the family. They wouldn’t have it any other way
Jason takes his role as a caregiver very VERY seriously. If there’s two things Jaybird doesn’t mess around with, it’s protecting his loved ones, and more specifically little ones,
Jason has seen and been through a lot. He would do ANYTHING in his power to make sure his baby bird NEVER has to know any of the horrors and atrocities he’s bared witness too. It would break his heart and he’d never forgive himself.
So naturally, he’s a little nervous the first time he has to leave you when you’re little. Jason doesn’t want to leave, but they way he sees it, keeping Gotham safe, is keeping you safe. It’s a very necessary part of his job. His mind would be on you the whole time he’s away, but he’s careful not to let it distract him, as he doesn’t know what he’d do if he got hurt or worse on a mission and you had to see him like that.
So he refuses to leave you alone. That was never even an option in his head. If Jay has to leave you, he’s going to leave you in the care of the ones he trusts.
Jason knows Alfred is fully capable. But he’s a little nervous when it comes to his father. He still holds a little resentment about the whole Joker, crowbar thing-
But he’s trying to fix that relationship, and entrusting his most precious baby bird to his father isn’t something he takes lightly. Hence why a list of detail instructions was drawn up, printed and laminated.
He’d make sure they knew all your favourite snacks, and had all of your comfort items on hand and ready. Even potential cues for when and what you would need. Jason knows Bruce is really good at reading people, so it won’t leave room for guess work in case you’re non verbal at the time.
If you like routine, he details it to Alfred so the older man can properly prepare to watch you. Pee Paw Alfie would make all your favourite foods and drinks. Make sure things are clean and quiet in case of overstimulation. Making sure you take care of yourself physically and go to bed on time.
Bruce is better at strutted activities like reading to/with you. Sitting and watching a show, of watching you draw and colour while he works down in the batcave (Jason lectured him about at least child proofing a section for you to be in) if you want to stim, Bruce has little bat chewys or fidgets he made just for you.
If you’re in a talkative mood, he’ll just sit and listen while he works. He loves hearing you ramble.
Alfred is better at the emotional comfort. Always checking in on how you’re doing. Holding you close if you need a moment and a hug.
Helping you to get dressed or bath if you’re too little to do it on your own. Also helping you eat, and he has so many sippies for you to choose from.
The butler keeps a pacifier in his apron at all times too.
Jason looses his mind if he comes home to find you asleep on Alfred’s chest. Or Bruce and your sleeping on a chair down in the bat cave.
It reminds him of why he stayed. But Jason can and will wake you. He missed his baby bird and he wants those cuddles. I wouldn’t say he’s a possessive caregiver, it’s more just there’s nothing more he wants that to see his little after a hard mission.
They help him to relax and feel normal for once. He’ll bring you to bed and wish you sweet dreams. And be patiently waiting for you to wake in the morning and tell him all about your busy day with you’re grandpas.
Him love his baby bird so much! 🥺
So he refuses to leave you alone. That was never even an option.

Yandere rating || Robins edition
Some rate/scale, types and description of how intense the robins if i were to write them as yanderes. Just for references in the future.
a/n: I don't write Yan!Damian since he is underage.
Tumblr media
※ Dick Grayson
Intensity: 4/5
Type: The Caregiver
Description;
→ Dick is a charming man, definitely the type to use emotional brainwash to keep you on his sight. He's not the type to restrain you, as far as you are aware. Although, he does keep an eye on you.
→ Dick is a gentleman, the best boyfriend you could ever ask for. He'll get you gifts, affections, his love language might just be everything when it comes to you. Even if these things would be turned into a weapon to make you see him, a reason to keep you. Again, this is his way to restrain you. By manipulating and his self pity, so you'll feel like you have to be with him.
→ Dick is the type to make his darling the dependant type. He'll make you feel like you need him 24/7, you won't be able to do things by yourself and Dick just has to be there for you. He'll brainwash your head to only think of him, only needing him, crave him and only him.
→ He's the caregiver type, ask what you need then he'll give you anything as long as you don't ask for a breakup. Other than spoiling you gifts, he might be too much when it comes to how clingy he is, naturally he would crave your touch. Dick is also very attentive to your wellbeing, he'll take care of every inch of you. Won't ever let you skip a meal or lose a sleep. Whether you like it or not, it's for the better.
Intensity: 3/5
Tumblr media
※Jason Todd
Type: The Protector
Description;
→ Jason is focused on protecting you. So he'll be protective, won't lock you up unless it is needed-- though hardly because of his intensity. He is not the type to make his darling to be dependent on him, he's busy anyway so he'll teach you how to defend yourself and wield a weapon. Jason does give you tough love from time to time. Never will hurt you physically no matter how impulsive he is.
→ Don't lower your alertness when it comes to Jason, he might look calm or seemingly uncaring. He does pay attention to you, just not obvious unlike Dick. Sometimes you'll be suprised on how much Jason knows about you if you ask him.
→ He's more overprotective and impulsive type. Jason will ask you to call or leave a message if you plan to go out, if you don't then he will ask, if you ignore him then it's easy to find you since he does secretly implant your phone with a gps chip. But he will be pissed off if you ignore him. He won't think twice of getting rid anyone who hurt you, breaking bones and blood doesn't sway his devotion to you.
→ Jason isn't that touchy kind of a person due to his trauma, unless you initiate or is feeling like it. Though he does have thing for your smell, he would love to bury his nose on your neck after patrol, wrapping you tight, turning it into cuddles. Jason's love language is mostly on words affirmation and act of service.
Intensity: 5/5
Tumblr media
※ Tim Drake
Type: The Saviour
Description;
→ Tim is the type to stalk his darling while being innocent in front. Sending out texts on how much he loves you, sending pictures of you pretty much doing anything. You might freak out from the unwanted messages and pictures sent from your stalker, he would come as the knight to save you. Make you think of him as your saviour. This happens if you are not close with him at first.
→ He's good with tech, he'll secretly implant hidden cameras in your room. Hack your phone so he can see what you're doing there, implant a gps tracker on your belongings to know wherever you are. Tim is scared of losing you, he will do anything to let you not get out of his sight, might just lock you up.
→ Tim would be controlling and obssessed, despite his intensity he would not force you. The idea of you hating him would lose his mind, it's the least thing he would ever want for his darling to feel. He loves you too much that it hurts. He would do anything for you, even sacrificing his life in order for you to see him.
→ He is the type to get rid of potential enemy that might get you away from him. Tim would be delusional at times, believing that you are his soulmate, that you and him are meant to be together. He would be desperate if you were to leave, desperate in a way he would kiss your feet and beg, he'll do anything to prove that he is worthy for you as he worship you.

I wrote this in 45 minutes?
It's sickeningly sweet fluff cause sometimes ya just need that (I im writing so much angst in every other fic I needed some quick fluffy ones)
Jason Todd x reader (gender neutral, no pronouns used)
Uhhh it's a regression fic leave me alone, I'll throw hands if ya mean about it (Jason just has caregiver vibes okay???)
You and Jason had been dating for the better part of a year, and just recently had he trusted you enough to explain why he’d been coming home to you covered in bruises and even still occasionally bleeding. It took the whole night and into the morning but you got all your questions answered- Your boyfriend was the Red Hood. Damn how you should’ve figured that out on your own but you did have your own things going on too.
You owned and ran your own business- You made jewelry and clothes, selling online and through vendors on occasion, it was a lot to handle but it made good money and it was a job doing things you enjoyed. You made your own hours too as long as you kept up with the demand and kept everything stocked.
Everything was going smoothly between you two, long nights on occasion and sometimes it took actual planning to make a date night but neither of you minded too much. Jason was out saving the city whenever he was needed and you had a business to run, you both did so without issue as well. At least, until the next few months came and went.
Your business blew up, getting more attention than you’d ever been used to leaving you overworking yourself to try and keep up with every order, you had even unknowingly pushed Jason away. He knew you were stressed but he was still offended by the fact that you weren’t confiding in him or letting yourself take a break. So when you finally broke down, he was there in a moment's notice, even blowing off his patrol- sending out quick texts to his siblings to have someone cover for him so he could be there for you.
Tim responded first- while all of his brothers, and Cas and Stephine- adored you, Tim was of course the one willing to help out whenever Jason asked. Mostly because Jason almost never asked for anything.
So when you curled up on the couch, dressed in your pajamas with Bluey playing in the background, Jason took the spot at your side and threaded his hands through your hair as he softly kissed the top of your head.
“Hey little one, you doing okay?”
You looked up at Jason with a pout and you shook your head, there were dark circles under your eyes and unshed tears threatening to fall the moment he asked the question. “No- Jay theres just too much to do. I tried and and tried to keep on top of it all but ‘m squished.”
Jason chuckled softly and pulled you into his side, lightly ruffling your hair, which you huffed at and tried to swat his hand away. “Aw come on bat, you know you can always take breaks yeah? You're the one in charge, your customers are on your time.”
You laid your head on his chest, your eyes flickering towards the show- Grannies was the current episode, it always made you laugh and giggle but right now you were just too exhausted to feel much of anything. “But…-”
“No buts little bat, there's no reason for you to ever work yourself like this. I know I do it and so do my dad and brothers but you see how Alfred scowleds us for that whenever we nearly drop unconscious.”
You nestled into his chest with a sigh and fiddled with his free hand. “Jay?”
“Yeah bat?”
“We have chocolate milk?”
Jason grinned and laughed, placing another soft kiss on the top of your head before pulling you into a hug. “Yeah I think we still have some chocolate milk, want it in your dino cup little bat?”
“Mhmshmm yeah… And and! Strawberries! Please…”
Jason shook his head with a smile before standing and walking into the kitchen. As he got your drink and snack you wrapped up in a blanket holding one of the pillows on your lap much like a stuffed animal, but all of yours were currently still in your room.
It only took a couple of minutes before Jasoon walked back into the living room, chocolate milk in a dinosaur cup and strawberries cut up in a small bowl- He even went as far as to put whipped cream on them. “There ya go little bat.”
You stimmed happily, soft squeaks followed by flappy hands. You started to relax more, allowing yourself to forget about adulting and the struggles that came with it, the tension eased from your body. “Strawberries!”
Jason smiled and settled back onto the couch with you, letting you have your snack and sipy in peace. Nights like these weren’t necessarily rare but with the two of you constantly rushing about and you taking on more things at every moment they were infrequent and he loved it when things were just soft. No work, no sex, just cuddles and shows while you were being small.
“Feeling any better little bat?”
“Yeah… Chocolate milk and bluey makes everything better”
He chuckled, a teasing look filled his eyes as he poked your cheek, “aww and I didnt help contribute to the helping any?”
“Nono! Wait you did too! Always helpful Jay, silly bear.”
You smiled up at him brightly and then kissed his nose causing a laugh to escape his lip and a giggle from yours before you paused dramatically and pointed at him accusedly. “Wait a minute bubs- Youre usually out bangin heads n things, how you home?”
He shrugged casually and pulled you back into his side, you were wrapped up much like a little burrito and it didnt seem like he was planning on letting you go at any point. “Got Tim to help out, honestly little bat you worry about the weirdest things.”
You huffed with a slight pout and scrunched up your nose, “nuh uh! Is perfectly reasonable worry, you have responsibilities”
“And youre one of the things I have to take care of too little bat, don’t forget that”
“Thats so rude- 'm completely capable! Dont need help any help”
“Suuuuure and thats why you asked for me to get you chocolate milk and cutting up fruit instead of being all grown and getting it yourself~”
Your pout grew and you simply ignored Jaons teasing as you sipped on your drink while curled up next to him, finally turning your attention back to Bluey. “Mean bear-”
“Pouty bat~”
And thats how the rest of your night went for the most part, a few teasing remarks here and there, but mostly soft kisses and cuddles as Bluey played on the TV until you fell asleep nestled into Jasons side. He smiled down at you for a moment before picking you and carrying you off to bed- He knew you’d be back to your big job tomorrow and all the stress it came with but you got a night away from all that, and he’d do better at helping you manage things better too. The war criminal, the hardened killer that he was, hated seeing you cry.

JayGrant au where Grant, the newfound guardian of Respawn, is fighting for his life trying to raise a child but Jason "#1 mom" Todd has practically moved in with him within the week to help raise the kid.
And here's the thing right- Jason likes Grant. He's funny, and he's cute, and he's the only one who can even remotely keep up with him in a solid spar. He's the smartest idiot Jason's ever met. But even he was freaked out when he went to go pick up his favorite gym bro and a 12 year old with pure white hair and,,,, familiar green eyes opens the door instead.
He doesn't ask. Because he's a moron with a crush (and maybe a part of him still feels bad about focusing more on his revenge quest than helping Talia with Damian). So instead of asking any of the millions of, certainly valid, questions he offers to babysit.
And Respawn? He just adores Jason. Practically every other word out of the kids mouth is about how cool and funny Jason is, and when is Jason coming to visit, and when are you going to tell Jason that you love him-
Grant has had just about enough of Jason rushing to his apartment in the middle of the night because Respawn called him for something or other, homework he needs help on or a bad dream.
At first Grant is relieved that he's not completely on his own, then he's annoyed (and maybe a little jealous) that the kid has an obvious favorite, but eventually Grant starts seeing the benefits of all this. Like getting to eat Jason's food everyday and hearing Jason's laugh ring through every corner of the house and seeing Jason walk around the house in just sweatpants every morning-
Jason is... really starting to regret his decisions. Grant doesn't seem to like him and the worst part is that hasn't made Jason's silly little crush go away at all. Even though he knows it's a lost cause I mean, Respawn is already going through so many new changes and adjustments, having his brother/caregiver suddenly in a relationship wouldn't be fair.
(Respawn has a string board full of plans to get them together shoved under his bed, but it seems every time he's about to make progress there's a knock at the door or a bird hits the window or on one notable occassion Grant's mom showed up. Apparently she was called although no one knows by who. he's going to have to call... reinforcements if things don't start looking up soon)

random Jason Todd rant
i probably got so much wrong but this is at least how I interpreted it. Legit just started because of the hair colour and me finding it. Copy and pasted from a series of text messages that the recipient threatened me to post. I'll say right now I'm probably wrong on just about everything.
I get that it was to do an almost spiteful thing to do with Jason changing hair colour because after all the Robins eventually have black hair so it's like even after everything Jason tries to do to distance himself from Batman, he is still a Robin and still used to be connected to him some way. But like, his blonde hair after Dick's black hair in the original run was cool because it still marked him as different in both personality and appearance than his predecessor. Like, he /is/ a different person than Dick and so Batman trying to put him through the same already abusive stuff he put Dick through. The difference is, that Jason is already not all there and struggles greatly with self worth because of his abusive family, so Batman's treatment only worsens this behavior whereas with Dick, Dick was able to see the kind of manipulation Batman was doing and left the environment almost immediately when he got the chance.
And like, as Robin, whenever Jason runs into Dick Grayson who at that point is Nightwing, they end up going into a bond of "Just stick it out bud, I'm here for you if you need me" but Dick Grayson really *isn't* there for him because he has other responsibilities and he just isn't properly aware of the abuse that is making Jason down spiral in the first place because Dick Grayson when going through it was way better at controlling himself and knew what a loving and affectionate household was like due to his parents. Versus Jason Todd who's only know violent responses due to alcoholic and abusive parents so Dick Grayson swinging by every now and then and saying "it'll be okay. Brothers stick together right?" Doesn't really help him and if anything makes him feel worse because "Well Dick went through it and came out fine. What's wrong with me? Maybe I'm not as good as him" when its purely a problem with how he was raised. So whenever Dick and Jason fight it's only because their ideals and ideas are so vastly different, it makes it hard for them to see a middle ground. Whereas with Batman it's spite and hate. And you see Batman does for some amount of time mourn Jason after he first dies, he calls Tim "Jason" at one point when he's in danger so you see Batman does now correlate the danger he's putting these kids through as a direct correlation to Jason and how at every time a Robin is in danger he thinks of Jason and yet he despises how Jason turns out, because Batman mourns the child version of Jason and Alfred says as much, they were devastated when Jason died. The naive and mostly innocent one who was trying his hardest to live up to Batman's expectation. The rose tinted glasses version of the actual child Jason was during his run as Robin where he admits that he only thought of himself as "just another Robin" who could never be as good as Dick and was never good enough for Batman. So when Jason shows up and he's no longer hiding his true feelings towards anything, Batman is forced to confront that this is how Jason turned out, this is the man that Batman's raising and "caregiving" made him into. Batman also never puts up a photo or anything of him in the little memorial to dead people in the Tower either so that sets Jason off as well because it's the idea of "I died and you didn't even care".
To be goofy and read too far into it his hair colour stuff, since Batman died before hand for that photo of him in the prison Jason was no longer actively trying to distance himself from Batman because the dude's dead, he no longer has to prove "I'm not like how you remember me, screw you." So the hair kinda goes back to what it was originally because it has been confirmed that Jason dyes his hair, usually to cover up that goofy ahh white patch from the magic puddle revival, but like for this it could either be calling back to the discontinued thing of his blonde hair when he was younger and acted more like himself vs how Batman driven, anxiety recked and desperate for affirmation he gets after he's revived. Or it could legit just be ginger because he's in jail and by giving him hair close to the uniform colour it's like "haha he's a criminal and evil. He belongs here!" Which is kinda the opposite of everything Jason Todd ends up striving for but like idk, with the changing pool of writers it could've been that they didn't even put that much thought into it and just went "ginger Jason Todd".
It's the way that he isn't even actually that important of a character in the grand scheme of things 🧍🧍🧍like he's mentioned a lot by Batman in warning to Tim and Damian in that one Terminator speech of like the "he has no empathy, he doesn't have regrets, he can't be stopped" in sort of a vicious cycle of that's how he's treated and since he's always been chemically unbalanced after the death and revival and how he keeps getting abused and brainwashed and it keeps happening and getting worse and anytime he tries to disappear, they keep hunting him down because it's the "he's too dangerous to be left to his own devices" because it's not entirely wrong but at the same time he's only getting more violent because he's getting sporadic and desperate because he's fighting harder to not be seen as Batman's "biggest failure" (his own words to a kid who died) and its like, Jason only seems chill when he's with the other Robins because when Batman isn't telling them to kill Jason, Jason is usually pretty chill.
Like bro, his fight with the son of the lady who sexually assaulted him and his mentor who hates him is brought to a screeching halt because he gets a hug. And yeah that hug is emotional manipulation by Damien because he promptly tries to tazer Jason but like- Jason once again stops in the middle of a fight with a kid who's intention is to kill him, because he gets a hug. His team is made up of people who have all been rejected and denounced by anyone they had connections to for one reason or another, like he's just a genuinely broken dude who can't catch a break because anytime he tries to do what he sees as right and is objectively more successful than Batman's way of things, Batman sends another child militia after him which sends him into another down spiral of "holy shit I'm actual trash and I hate that dude and I need to do better and prove that I deserve recognition and I'm not a failure" and all that stuff because as irrational as his motivation is at this point, he doesn't know how to do anything else really because mentally he's still kind of just an arrogant kid. Like he cracks jokes when he's with the Robins but with Batman he's almost entirely serious because that's still who he counts as the main man who he needs validation from versus the Robins who all deal with that need for validation as well except they actually get it from Batman in the form of praise.
But Jason was only adopted because Batman figured he'd either adopt him, or he'd go off and become a villain because he was violent, but Jason was never as good as the legit trained acrobat of Dick Grayson so he never got praise from Batman then because it was "well Dick did it quicker/better" and so from the very beginning, this kid who was stealing hubcaps to try and provide for his genuinely trash childhood, out of his trash life with a promise of help only to be emotionally abused by his "savior" and then is never allowed to ever take pride in his work because he'll "never be as good as Dick Grayson" which is probably why he has the most fights with Dick when he returns as Red Hood because it's the idea of "if I can whole-y and fully beat you then Batman was wrong" but instead the two just go toe-to-toe a lot because Batman knows that Dick Grayson is the only Robin who really stands a chance against Jason. Jason has demolished both Tim and Damian so it shows that he's better than Tim who was supposed to be his successor and Damian who is Batmans legit son. Like Batman legally adopts Tim, so Jason is legit better, than Batman's actual sons, but that doesn't matter because Batman doesn't see that as anything that warrants praise, he doesn't see winning the fight as anything that Jason should be rewarded for because Batman uses violence as a deterrence and seeing Jason beat the snot out of the new Robins only serves in Batman's mind to reinforce "Jason's broken. It was a mistake to try and teach him how to fight" so he doesn't praise Jason for it which ends up fuelling Jason's idea of "I'll do better next time. I'll beat someone who's better and prove how good I am" which is why he takes his fights with Batman so seriously, along with his motive of "why'd you leave me to die?" Because like, Jason's last conversation with Batman before running off and getting kidnapped was then arguing because the Joker had Jason's mother who while she was abusive, Jason never got over that Stockholm syndrome type of stuff so he insisted that he needed to go save her and Batman was just kinda yelling at him and saying it was stupid so then Jason runs off, gets hurt, dies and then when he's back that initial feeling of "he's right, I wasn't good enough" to the point that his last words "Bruce, sorry." Which sets in which leads to his thing of "if I had just been stronger/faster/better etc" which is what ends up leading to his idea of needing to be the best to prove himself to Batman on the idea of "if i had survived and succeeded then he might've praised me because I'd done what he considered impossible. So if I do what he considers impossible now by beating him and the Robins, then I'll be worth something to him" but like, once again, Batman doesn't count the extra violence of anything worth praise but he's not willing to tell Jason that he's making things worse by being more violent. So then it's just Jason being frustrated that he'll never be good enough for Batman and Batman sitting back and not caring about a child who's mentality he broke"

Profile on Jason Todd
JASON TODD’S COMPLETED PROFILE by icecoffeeluver If you read white wine and cigarettes | jason todd I did mention some of this stuff already so bare with me here, i will probably be plagiarizing my own work so you guys probably read the adolescence part in white wine and cigarettes.
jason’s adolescence with willis and catherine
Let’s start off talking about Jason’s adolescence. As we all know due to DC wiki or the actual comics Jason had a traumatizing childhood. Willis was in and out of jail and in some versions abusive (let’s use that version for this analysis) whereas Catherine was a drug addict.
Let’s start with discussing Catherine’s and Jason’s relationship. In a normal parent child relationship the parent is the caregiver. In Catherine’s and Jason’s relationship, Jason is the caregiver 80 percent of the time, the times where Catherine wasn’t high. This allows something called role reversal also known as parentification. This means whoever the caregiver is supposed to be switches roles with the child, where the child takes care of the adult. Similar to what Jason was doing with Catherine.
Since Jason was an only child he had to do it alone. He had no one to talk to, no one he could trust to take care of him if he became sick etc. This means Jason had to figure out how to cope with his own feelings and trauma. He doesn’t have attentive parents to offer comfort or validation that he needed growing up. Eventually this can cause a disconnect from yourself, you don’t know who you are apart from being a caregiver.
Being a parent means you are responsible for your child’s well being along with simple stuff like making sure they eat, paying rent etc. Jason never had parents doing that, especially not after Willis was sent to prison. So as the only functional person in the house he had to step up. He had to make some cash to pay rent, look after Catherine, feed himself and Catherine. So he went out on the streets and made some cash by prostitution.
This alone can cause many issues to a child. Which is why children can’t legally consent until they’re about sixteen in the majority of places. It’s very unhealthy and can cause a bunch of issues in the future when they’re in a consensual relationship or just in general. Now moving on from Catherine and Jason’s relationship, which I’ll probably bring up again later,
We will now be discussing how Willis’ abusive behavior towards Catherine and Jason affected Jason’s adolescence. So when a child is under a lot of stress it can speed up the maturing process so parts of the child’s brain is matured more than other parts. It causes that child to become a mini teen or adult even to protect and help that child survive in certain environments.
So in this case Jason had to mature enough so that he could survive the abuse Willis caused. However, this process caused something called unfair responsibility to occur. An example of unfair responsibility would be a parent getting angry at a kid for something that the parent did. Now in Jason’s case that would be Willis projecting his own failure onto Jason causing him to get hurt when he did nothing.
That strikes fear in Jason, as if something is done wrong it’s now his fault. So the child matures faster than they should, considering you aren’t fully mature until you are in your early to mid twenties. So the child matures enough to notice that they aren’t being perfect, and a child shouldn’t have to be perfect. They need to make mistakes to learn. But living with Willis he never knew that until he met Bruce.
childhood with bruce
This leads us into the time where Jason meets Bruce. It was a little bit after Catherine’s overdose when Bruce takes Jason in. Jason feeling stressed and guilty over Catherine’s overdose acts out quite a bit. This is him grieving but also testing boundaries. Seeing if he can be imperfect, seeing if he can be himself for once and to see if Bruce would hit him or act abusive towards him. As expected Bruce doesn’t hit him or anything (during that time period).
This is most likely conduct disorder. It’s a disorder mostly for children that can be diagnosed when there is an ongoing pattern of aggression toward others, and serious violations of rules and social norms at home, in school, and or with peers. So like Jason testing his boundaries and behaving poorly to Bruce. Which is a more mild version of the disorder but it’s there.
When Bruce gives Jason Robin it causes an old fear to return. The fear of imperfection. He’s afraid that he won’t live up to Dick Grayson, the first Robin. During this time he slowly stops meeting the requirements for the conduct disorder but gains a moody, crying episodes, and more aggressive attitude. These are signs of PTSD, which I think he definitely has. Or it could be symptoms of oppositional defiant disorder which I’ll get more into later on. These all eventually lead to his death.
life after revival
After the revival Jason is manipulated by Talia into thinking Bruce replaced him as Robin and that he didn’t care about his death. But in reality Bruce did care about Jason’s death. Then again Jason was definitely not in the right state of mind and was extremely vulnerable both physically and emotionally.
Which was most likely why Talia chose him to get back at Bruce, by manipulating Jason and by having sex with him. Which to me I don’t think was consensual but then again Talia is a bunch of things but I don’t think she is a rapist. Jason wasn’t in the right state of mind making it more not consensual but he is also the age to consent and he could have in the moment, I think it’s more of the writers fault for this since you can debate it either way.
After Talia and the League of Assassin’s he made his way back to Gotham. Causing trouble and a lot of blood shed but eventually reconciles with Bruce and joins the family again. mental illness i think he has or had
conduct disorder (cd) It’s a disorder mostly for children that can be diagnosed when there is an ongoing pattern of aggression toward others, and serious violations of rules and social norms at home, in school, and or with peers. So like Jason testing his boundaries and behaving poorly to Bruce. Which is a more mild version of the disorder but the symptoms are there.
oppositional defiant disorder (odd) It’s a disorder that deals with people's behavior. It’s mostly found in children, but it can be diagnosed in adulthood. Children are more prone to being uncooperative, hostile towards parents, peers, people with higher authority etc, anger, vindictiveness.  Typically people with odd have been diagnosed with cd beforehand but for Jason I think he developed cd before because of the unfair responsibility.
cptsd
Cptsd, complex post traumatic stress disorder, is a more complex version of ptsd. It’s basically ptsd with added features such as difficulty controlling emotions, anger, distrust etc. Jason has definitely gone through many traumatic experiences and he a hundred percent has ptsd that’s for certain. cptsd vs ptsd. cptsd is going through multiple traumatic events (catherine, sex work, joker, revival, bruce slicing his throat etc) whereas ptsd is one traumatic event. I think this one is pretty self-explanatory.
a cluster b personality type Cluster b personality types are antisocial personality disorder, borderline personality disorder, histrionic personality disorder and narcissistic personality disorder. Jason shows signs of antisocial personality disorder and borderline personality disorder. He fits the criteria for antisocial personality disorder (aspd) through his aggression and unlawful behavior (i mean come on he put seven heads in a bag to prove a point). However, he also shows signs of borderline personality disorder (bpd) by his distorted self image. This is where his relationship with Catherine comes in. Jason becoming a full time parent at a young age shifted his sense of self, he doesn’t know who he really is. You can see this as he grows up.
With Bruce he becomes Robin so he takes after Dick, then he becomes the Red Hood he steals that name and identity from the Joker, and tries to take the role of Batman when Bruce is presumed dead. Later on he gets his own sidekick, goes on to lead the Outlaws similar to a team Bruce leads every once in a while (the Outsiders). So Jason recasts himself as others and that’s a symptom of bpd. Which is a disorder that involves a poorly built sense of identity. But then again he does this too often to have this disorder, but then again he was dead and not in his right state of mind and missed out on critical personality development that he needed. Bpd causes mood swings and difficulty controlling your emotions which Jason has but that could also be his cptsd.
Therefore he definitely has a personality disorder, I just don’t know which type, he could have one or the other or even both but I’m not a medical professional so I can’t diagnose him with anything.
things he suffers with (not mental illnesses)
Identity issues Identity is a trick concept to understand, so bare with me here. Having a sense of identity helps adapt to changes in your everyday life. When people lose their sense of self they lose their self-esteem and look for their own sense of self in others. When someone loses their self-esteem they lose all confidence in themself. They attempt to be whoever the people around them want them to be even if it hurts them. For example, Batman sees Jason as a murderer at times, so he slowly adapt to that version of himself when he’s around him. Jason put on a mask and played his part. But with someone else, like Red Robin when he’s injured, Jason would go and play a caregiver role because that’s who Red Robin needs. Or who he thinks he needs.
Another example would be, with Bruce he becomes Robin so he takes after Dick in a way, then he becomes the Red Hood he steals that name and identity from the Joker, and tries to take the role of Batman when Bruce is presumed dead. Later on he gets his own sidekick, goes on to lead the Outlaws similar to a team Bruce leads every once in a while (the Outsiders). So Jason recasts himself as others
derealization or dissociation
Let’s start with derealization. Derealization makes someone feel as if they are disconnected from themself. They become emotionally disconnected from everything. They feel like they’re living in a movie, things don’t seem real to them in this state. Or even feeling as if they and everything around them are being separated by a glass wall. They can see everything but they can’t interact with it properly, they become disconnected from their surroundings. When Jason is revived he’s more so in a coma / brain dead I think he was dissociating or derealizing. Most likely dissociating.
Dissociation. It’s similar to derealization in some aspects but with dissociation people don’t remember what happens during that time period, could be minutes, hours, maybe even days. In most cases it’s because the brain shuts down to protect the mind from emotional trauma or in less severe cases, stress.
fear of being forgotten
He always brings up his death. I think it's the fear of being forgotten. Probably because he thought nobody was looking for him when he died. claustrophobia.
He dug his way out of a coffin, I would hope this is self explanatory.
personality
According to Google Jason is an ESTP character type. This is what Google says, “He is the ESTP character type, a bold and practical hero who prefers not to play around and go straight for the jugular of any problem. He is also typically insensitive to anyone's feelings, is impatient and takes way too many risks, and is one of the most defiant members of the Bat Family.”
I agree but also disagree. The weakness of an ESTP character type fits him. Those are impatient, impulsive. Whereas the strengths are influential, personable. Like these are but aren’t Jason it’s 50/50 what do you guys think?
Jason is a very emotional and angry person, as a child he was all loving and sweet but that eventually turned to anger when I think he realized what happened to him. He has a hard time expressing himself in ways other than anger.
He’s quite impulsive, like acting before thinking. He can be portrayed as stupid but he’s pretty smart, he’s tactile and a literary nerd, always reading a new book.
He’s humorous and sarcastic. Always has a snarky comment to say. Doesn’t matter who it’s to, but won’t say it to Alfred out of fear.
relationships | platonic and romantic
Roy Harper
Jason and Roy both met at a young age but barely interacted until they were in their twenties. As of right now they are each other’s best friend. They match each other's energy, watch each other’s back, won’t abandon the other, don’t judge each other and have similar trauma.
Roy’s addiction most likely brings back memories of Catherine and if Roy were to relapse it would definitely bring out the scared caregiver in Jason. The person he had to be with Catherine.
jason and bruce
Jason and Bruce have a complex relationship. There is Jason who’s disobedient, troublesome, and constantly morally challenges Bruce. This causes Bruce to constantly be pulled out of his comfort zone. Bruce has done some pretty questionable things like throwing a batarang at Jason’s neck instead of letting the Joker die. However, Jason still loves him and they eventually come to an understanding.
jason and his siblings
Jason and Dick don’t have the best relationship but it’s not the worst. Dick feels guilty since he was an ass to Jason before his death. So now he tries to play the big brother role which makes his relationship with Damian and Tim (until Red Robin) stronger.
Jason and Tim have a more complicated and strained relationship. Tim idolized Jason growing up, he was his hero. Then Jason comes back and attempts to kill him, leaving him for dead. But I don’t think Tim’s capable of holding a grudge against his hero and Jason doesn’t seem to care about it anymore.
Jason and Damian probably met during Jason’s time in the League of Assassins. They don’t get along but that’s probably all Damian since he acts like he hates everyone around him.
my observations
His most used emotion is anger. He definitely has anger issues. I would say he could definitely qualify for an IED but that’s mostly the Lazarus Pit causing it so I didn’t mention it earlier in the mental illnesses section.
He’s more laid back than people think. Apart from his anger he’s pretty chill, always making jokes, completely opposite to what people would think.
Used to smoke as a kid before meeting Bruce to cope with stress.
Doesn’t cope well with stress. He resorts to violence or drinking. Which are both unhealthy coping mechanisms and shouldn’t be used that way.

Jason involuntarily regresses over a couple weeks, believing it to be one off things that but when it continued and got more intense, he does what anyone would do: he ran to Alfred, a man who was like a grandfather to all of Bruce's children and other not-children, as he believed he was compromised by some mind control.
If only it was that simple.
