Islandske Pandekager!
Tumblr media
Icelandic pancakes. They are in the style of Crêpes, but smaller diameter. One recipe yields 5-7 pancakes depending on your pan size.
Ingredients:
100 g flour
1 egg
250 mL milk
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon melted butter
How to:
Mix dry ingredients in a bowl
Add egg to milk and whisk that
Add eggy milk to dry ingredients while whisking
Melt butter in you pancake pan
Add butter to batter
Keep pan warm while you mix
One small ladle-full batter per pancake goes in the pan. First pancake takes forever, but after that it goes somewhat faster.
Flip pancake when top looks dry and sides turn golden and slip the pan
When you feel like the other side must be done, slide spatula under and lift to see coloration. If golden brown crater landscape you can transfer to a plate and put the next pancake in the pan
As these pancakes aren't sweetened you can use them for both savory fillings, like you would tortillas, or sweet fillings, like you would American pancakes.

everyone’s (rightfully) not feeling so hot, let’s make some crêpes
hey! long time no ellian recipe, but here we are. between pancakes and waffles and crêpes, crêpes are my personal favorite and like...when you’re feeling down and nothing can go right, it’s always a good meal to turn to (OR if you’re having a brunch w friends and want to seem fancy shmancy, this will make impress the hell out of them)
ingredience (1 batch. makes 8-12 crêpes depending on the size of ur frying pan):
2 eggs, room temp
15 g sugar (can be any sugar. i think i made these once with honey and they were pretty good too)
45 g melted butter (personally i like unsalted but if you have salted butter only that’s fine, just make sure not to add additional salt)
180 ml milk (any milk works just make sure it’s room temp)
120 ml water
120 g flour
vanilla extract (not traditional, but i put in like..about a tablespoon? i eye ball that)
cinnamon + nutmeg (again not traditional but i like adding it in, just a smidge)
pinch of salt
additional butter for the pan
steps:
[1] you can either put all of the ingredients above in a blender and blend it OR whisk it by hand. either works. i tend to make double or triple the batch whenever i make these so i tend to go for the blender. these should ideally rest in the fridge for an HOUR (1) but honestly if you make it right away it’s fine.
[2] heat up whatever you’re using to cook this on. if you have those fancy crêpe pans use it but i just use a frying pan. you can use a bigger frying pan or a smaller frying pan but the smaller ones are easier in my opinion.
[3] once the pan’s heated up add some butter and MAKE SURE YOU GET THE SIDES or else this is going to be a nightmare to flip. grease that puppy up.
[4] once you’re all situated, you can either [1] tip some batter from the blender into the frying pan although sometimes i find it that you might get an overly thick crêpe and that’s not what we want, we want thin ones!! [2] use a spoon or 1/4 cup to scoop out the batter onto the pan. twirl the pan so that the batter makes a circle.
[5] cook both sides until they’re slightly brown. don’t worry about the first one it’ll be ugly — the first pancake, crêpe, waffle, fritter, etc they’re always ugly. it’ll taste good but it’s ugly.
[6] okay now put them on a waiting plate. if you’re gonna be cooking these all at once put a towel or something over the plate to keep these crêpes warm!! they’re not as delicious cold.
[7] these cook FAST once ur pan heats up. make sure to add butter every time.
[8] alrighty now you got your crêpes! (^: add whatever toppings you like! sometimes i go for fruit, sometimes i go for jam, sometimes even maple syrup, sometimes lemon and sugar — do whatever! don’t let anyone tell you what to put on your crêpe, babe. but also if you eat them plain they’re plenty tasty enough :3c
[9] if you have extra batter, that’s alright, just make sure to seal it up and put it in the fridge. you can use it within the next few days for instant crêpes whenever (^: just make sure to give the batter a whisk before you make them next time though! (or you can make all the crêpes and just freeze them or whatever but i personally don’t think it’s as tasty.)
if you want to make savory crêpes they’re kinda the same deal although i tend to knock down the sugar a bit and add some pepper. you can also swap out the flour for buckwheat flour! (^:
anyways here’s some pics (yeah one of them is a christmas plate, shhhh)

i was just thinking about boyfriend!jaehyun and how he would spend quality time with you. he would take you out on dinner dates and then he would take you back to his apartment to pour you a glass of red wine while the two of you swayed lightly in the living room listening to some cigarettes after sex songs playing on his vinyl.
you would go on museum dates, art galleries, concerts and he would take pictures of you with his camera to capture each moment, while complimenting you with each pose you stroke.
you would do movie night marathons together, you would spend hours in the kitchen trying to make crêpes following a recipe you found online, even if your attempts failed.
you would sing duets together, jaehyun would strum random chords on his guitar while you hummed random soft melodies on top of the sound.
jaehyun would help you remove your makeup after a long, tiring day and he would let you fall asleep on his chest while he would plant soft kisses on your forehead.

Peaches and Cream Crêpe
Tumblr media
And Candlemas is here, closing the Festive Season with a simple but nonetheless delectable feast of crêpes! At least, that is how we celebrate la Chandeleur in France. And after taking the last of the Christmas lights under the porch this morning --past this date it is bad luck to keep them longer!-- something like an indulgent Peaches and Cream Crêpe is just what I fancy!
Ingredients (serves 1):
a Peach in Syrup halve
1/4 cup double cream
1 tablespoon of the Peach Syrup
1 teaspoon good quality Cognac or Brandy
a Crêpe
a teaspoon caster sugar
Dice the Peach in Syrup halve. Set aside.
In a small bowl, energetically whisk the double cream until soft peaks form. Gradually whisk in Peach Syrup and Cognac until just a bit stiffer. Set aside.
Heat a large, flat frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the Crêpe, and cook 1 minute, until just warm on both sides. Sprinkle with caster sugar.
Remove from the heat, and place the Crêpe onto serving plate. Spoon most of the Cognac whipped cream onto one half of the Crêpe, and top with Peach in Syrup dices, saving a few, and fold in half. Fold once more, and top with remaining whipped cream and Peach in Syrup dices.
Enjoy Peaches and Cream Crêpe immediately with a glass of well-chilled Cider!

Steph, Jason and damian making crêpe, pancakes and others food together.
It can be chaotic and Alfred supervize them ( and when they had a foodfight they had to face Alfred wrath) but they enjoy themself .
It's a bonding moment and they would make bet for who get to choose what they would cook like the one beat the most villain in today patrol get to choose ( Damian to bake recipe for his childhood and Jason like to bake recipe that he learned from Catherine on the days that she was feeling better).
and when one of them feel bad ( like when they remember their death or Bad feelings because of their parents and their childhood for exemple) they would bake something for the one who is sad to feel better ( they deny that it was them but it fool no one)

Idol Star 2023 - Prince Stage: Torao Midou
Tumblr media
[Disclaimer: I’m NOT a professional translator. I’m using my knowledge from 4 years of university. Please, feel free to let me know if you notice  mistranslation/typo/error of any kind]

***
Haruka: Torao! O-ha-shi (*chopstick)
Torao: Enough with shiritori. My bad for losing
Haruka:
Tumblr media
Haruka: Now you’re supposed to take me out for ice cream, like you promised
Torao: Alright. I’ll buy you as many ice creams as you want
Torao: However, attacking with “shi” is prohibited from now on
Torao: It’s frustrating to even type “shi” now
Haruka: That’s funny www It’s kinda of a trauma
Haruka: Okay, I’ll go with “su” next time
Haruka:
Tumblr media
Torao: Stop it or I’ll be too frustrated to type any kana from the “sa” group anymore
Haruka: Admission of defeat www
Torao: Okashi*, Ohitashi*,   Inarizushi*…    (sweets, boiled vegetables, deep fried tofu with rice)
Haruka: Humph! Well, only Yotsuba can beat me
Haruka: Just kidding
Haruka: I’m stronger than Yotsuba! 😬
Torao: Are you really talking like that about yourself?
Haruka: So what?? It’s the story of our war!
Haruka:  By the way, I wanted to ask you about the wrap-up party! Can we do it at your place?
Torao: Yes, it’s the biggest after all
Torao: Shall I call the pastry chef again?
Torao: You said you wanted to eat that crêpe again, didn’t you?
Haruka: Ah, the one I could watch a real chef make right in front of me! It was super good! The dough was overflowing with butter, and the cream was also full-bodied!
Torao: You’re a real food reporter
Haruka: Well, a crêpe made by a chef is fine with me, of course… but let’s try to make it all together, instead!
Torao: With “all together”, you mean us making a crêpe?
Torao: I don’t think I have that thing
Torao: That thing you use to mix the fresh cream
Haruka: You mean a blender?
Haruka: It’s okay, we don’t need to mix it! We can just buy whipped cream and wring it out
Torao: Can we really do that with a cream that just needs to be wrung out?
Haruka: Yes! We can buy it at the supermarket. They have it at the conbini as well
Haruka: It doesn’t take that much time if we just have to bake the dough
Haruka: It will be fun, don’t you think? Choosing what kind of sauce we can use for baking! We can go for chocolate sauce, strawberry sauce, caramel sauce… whatever we like! You can also choose fruit sauce!
Torao: Can I…choose that?
Haruka: Yeah! It’ll be a Torao special crêpe 🐯
Torao: That’s going to be the number one special crêpe. I’ll get some fruit, then
Haruka:
Tumblr media
Haruka: Really?? Hooray! The melon you gave me last time was the best ever! Grandma loved it as well!
Torao: Give your grandmother my regards
Haruka: Okay, then each of us will bring something for the party. Minami can bring snacks and Touma drinks.
Torao: I see
Torao: How about meat and potatoes? I mean, the one you shared with me before. It may be cliche, but it tasted like home
Haruka: Really?!
Haruka: The recipe was transmitted to me directly by Grandma! She will be happy!
Torao: Your grandmother is a first class chef
Haruka: Eheh, oh well… it gets more flavorful the second day, so maybe it’s better to make it the day before
Torao: Do you eat the same thing for two days in a row?
Haruka: Of course! What else should you do when you cook big portions?
Haruka: The third day you can rearrange the meat and potatoes and make some curry!
Torao: Understood. I’m gonna study
Haruka:
Tumblr media
Haruka: Also! We’ll watch the rest of that foreign drama we left halfway the last time I came to your house. Be ready!
Torao: What?! You could have finished it even if you weren’t at my house
Haruka: You don’t understand 😐
Haruka: Isn’t it better to noisily watch that action stuff all together while eating snacks and having some drinks?
Torao: Well, I guess so
Torao: When the story’s atmosphere got tense ti was priceless to watch Touma gazing at the screen with his mouth open, while you were clinging to Minami’s arm
Haruka: What?! You can forget about that!!
Haruka: If you keep on talking nonsense, I’ll get two ice creams!
Torao: I told you I’ll get you as many ice creams as you want. You’re the shiritori master
Haruka: Say it again😌
Torao: You’re the shiritori master, Haruka. I can’t wait for the wrap-up party
Haruka: Yes! Thanks, Torao!
The end

I made crêpes! (A mini celebration of fandom.)
Tumblr media
Yesterday was the French holiday, La Chandeleur. And on Chandeleur, people celebrate by making crêpes. It's not a holiday that I'd been aware before this year, but yesterday evening found me stood over my stovetop attempting to create the thin, lacy pancakes I'd only previously had the pleasure of encountering in restaurants.
Long before I'd even heard of Good Omens, let alone the crêpe-craving angel contained within it, I fell in love with this iconicly French food. For over twenty years now, one of my bucket list items is the unashamedly touristy activity of enjoying some from a Parisian street vendor while basking in the general splendor of The City of Lights.
And, while fate has yet to bring me to France, it did bring me to the Good Omens fandom. More specifically, it brought me to the discord server of the youtuber, @sendarya. There, her and her team organized a weekend of crêpe making in celebration of Chandeleur. They posted a brief summary of the holiday along with a couple of recipe and presentation suggestions for those who, like me, had never attempted them. People from all over the world have been posting photos of their creations, along with the occasional video displaying crêpe flipping skills the likes of which I can only aspire.
As someone who grew up in the pre-web days, these little pockets of the internet never cease to amaze me. Here's me, someone so 'Murican that they've never even owned a passport, chatting with folks around the globe about our shared interests. In my childhood and early teens, I would have only had access to this sort of camaraderie through the much slower mediums of newsletters or zines. But today, I carry instant access to the world around with me in my pocket.
While the pros and cons of this general phenomenon, along with the more specified experience of being part of an online fandom, are continuously debated, yesterday definitely fit within the "pro" column. Yesterday, the domino fall that began with a couple of guys writing a book together over thirty years ago ended in me learning a new skill with the help and encouragement of Good Omens fans spread out across the planet.
Tumblr media
This morning, I enjoyed some of the leftovers from yesterday for breakfast, and it made my heart sing. I may or may not ever get to experience street vendor crêpes in Paris. But, due to the enthusiasm and generosity of global GOmens fans, I can now indulge in them in the comfort of my own home any time I please.
So, here's my thanks to everyone who organized and are participating in the AziraCrêpes weekend over on Sendarya's discord. Y'all are pretty cool.

Happy Imbolc!
It's almost time for Imbolc, the celebration of Nature's renewal, and of Brigid, for those who work with deities.
As a newbie witch, that's my first Imbolc. I red stuff about the gaelic celebration called Imbolc or Imbolg also known as Saint Brigid's Day. It was probably used for christianization to celebrate what we call in France "la chandeleur", the candlemas, 40 days after Christmas. We do like to eat crêpes in France for this celebration. I still don't know how I'm gonna celebrate Imbolc, but I'm sure I will find a nice way to celebrate life and Mother Nature waking up from those cold times. As a kitchen Witch, I'm guessing it's gonna manifest throughout my recipes ^^ And you, how are you gonna celebrate Imbolc?
