Hii I was hoping you could do a Luke castellan and Dionysus reader and the iconic line of “But Daddy I love him!” Imagine that Dionysus doesn’t approve of it at first and makes sure that reader and Luke don’t have activities together and it’s miserable for Luke, so Luke goes up to Dionysus makes him listen to him and Dionysus let’s them be together but threatens him but none the least let’s them be together! It could be a angst to fluff
(Sorry if I rambled!)
ohhhh this is good i lurv it! i hope u like it!
but daddy, i love him!; luke castellan
Tumblr media Tumblr media
it was great that your father, lord dionysus was the director at camp half blood. when you first came, you were claimed almost immediately since he recognised you. weird claiming, but whatever.
you would often spend time with your father, given his frequent presence at camp. it would’ve been odd not to be close to him. but there was someone else who wanted to be close to you too. luke castellan never understood why and how a demigod could love their father like you did. he found it rather fascinating, since he didn’t really like his own father much.
so at every opportunity he could, whether it be sword fighting training or just at the campfire he’d try to talk to you… which pissed off dionysus. he didn’t want his only daughter, his little girl, to be taken away by the charming hermes boy. he despised the thought of it.
from that day onward, dionysus made sure that the hermes cabin had no activities that clashed with his own cabin. he made sure that the dionysus cabin teamed up with teams other than the hermes cabin for capture the flag. he did all he could to keep luke castellan away from his darling daughter.
it infuriated you, a simmering frustration bubbling within as you observed the repeated efforts of your father to keep luke at arm's length. each instance felt like a slap to the face, a reminder of the barriers created between you and someone who sought nothing but your company. you couldn't understand why your father was so adamant about keeping you apart, especially when you wanted to get to know luke.
you saw how at every opportunity, your father seemed to push away the hermes boy’s opportunity to talk to you. you saw how miserable the boy seemed, his eyes wandering to yours before breaking eye contact with you. you sigh, getting up from your table to talk to your father who sat with the satyrs.
“daddy, why are pushing luke away?”
“it’s simple, sweetheart. i can’t have my little girl swooned by handsome jerk.”
“you don’t even know him, daddy.”
“neither do you, y/n.”
your brows furrow, with your arms crossed against your chest. you had told your father previously about your admiration toward the boy, which was probably why there was a change in his attitude.
“but daddy, i love him!”
you exclaimed, luke watching you bicker with your father from a distance before watching you storm off. wonder what they were talking about. it hurt luke to see you upset, but he did notice that your father was staring in his direction. yeah.. they definitely talked about me.
luke felt the need to talk to the god about it. he couldn’t bear being so close yet so far from you. he hated that he couldn’t be the guy you laughed with. he got up from the hermes table, making his way toward the camp director.
“lord diony–“
“you may take your leave. i don’t wish to speak to you today.”
“i’ll get you a sauvignon 1992?”
“although that sounds delicious right now, still no.”
the god walked off to find his daughter, giving up after about 5 or so minutes then retreated to his sleeping quarters. luke on the other hand, was hatching a plan to persuade dionysus. he had to get him to say yes somehow.
for luke, the next few days was full of pestering the god. for dionysus, the next few days would be some he dreaded most. he saw luke’s face first thing in the morning and last thing at night. at this point, luke was going to beat chiron’s record of being in his face at all times.
luke finally got the time to sit down with dionysus one to one after curfew, after countless times of offering him a wine he stole while out in the city.
“sir, about your daughter.”
“so this is about my daughter, huh? you’ve been a real pest all day about it.”
“let me date court her, please.”
dionysus took a sip of the wine, savouring the sweetness of the dark red liquid. he hummed, swirling it in his glass.
“prove that you’re good enough for my daughter.”
“prove.. prove it?”
“you heard me bucko.”
the following day, luke did things he thought would prove his worth to dionysus. he helped out with tasks he usually wouldn’t take up and kept his day extra busy. by the end of the day, luke had done everything at camp. there wasn’t anything else he could’ve possibly done to prove himself, right?
“luke, my table.”
he heard a familiar voice speak, turning to see you which caused him to smile. he just hoped he didn’t look too foolish. he followed you to your table, sitting across from you and dionysus who was already for you both.
“okay, my blessing is given to you to court my daughter.”
wait.. it was that easy? dionysus stared down the hermes boy, his daughter practically giggling and blushing beside him.
“you better not break her heart kiddo. if you do, you’ll be shovelling pegasus poop for the rest of your time at camp.”
luke had no desire to for the rest of his time at camp shovelling poop, not like he would break your heart anyway. he had spent so much time trying to get your father’s blessing, so why would he break the heart of the only girl he envisioned his life with?
“yes sir.”
“alright alright go before i change my mind.”
dionysus flicked his wrist in a shooing motion, luke grabbing your hand and bringing you over to the hermes table.
a/n: i know the threat isn’t that serious but… personally i wouldn’t want to shovel poop…

Something I really appreciate about TOA that I don’t see get talked about much is that I never get the sense that Apollo finds Lester ugly.
For all that he complains about the body he’s stuck in, I never got the feeling that it came from a distaste for Lester himself. When he sees Lester’s traits reflected in others, like Meg being chunky, he is completely unaffected by it. Finds it charming, even. (In fact, the only times I can remember him having Opinions about how someone looks is when they’ve chosen something about their appearance that he either approves or disapproves of, like a tacky jacket/hair cut or when he finds someone attractive. The only time I can remember him calling anybody ugly was when he pointed out that Dionysus was choosing to look as ugly as possible to piss of Zeus, which is a statement of fact and doesn’t necessarily mean he thinks that Dionysus’ form is actually ugly. He makes no mention of finding it so before or after that line. It’s a statement of fact that Dionysus is choosing a form that either he or Zeus finds ugly to piss of their dad.)
The thing about Lester is that he is so devastatingly mortal. He has flab and acne and no upper body strength and his voice squeaks when he’s nervous and he sweats a lot and he has a silly name and messy, curly hair that’s impossible to tame. He is the Most Teenager To Ever. There is no godly blood running through his veins, no powers he can call upon. If Apollo were to run into him in the street, I don’t think he’d pay him much mind. He’d probably just think, “sweet kid”, and move on. If he got to know him, I think Apollo would adore him because that’s just who rrverse!Apollo is. He loves mortals despite himself, flaws and all. He’d argue against anything bad Lester had to say about his own appearance and mean every word.
The problem is that it’s Apollo in this body. Apollo, The Golden Child, the perfect son, a God. His distaste for this body is because Lester is so devastatingly mortal and imperfect. Apollo has to be perfect, he has to be shiny and pretty and strong because he has nothing else to offer otherwise.
And.. I dunno, there’s something about Apollo hating the things that draw him to others when it’s him. The flaws that he tears apart in himself he finds endlessly charming on others, or he thinks that they have better reasons for why they have them, or he thinks they have enough positive traits to counteract them. The positive things that he hides deep enough that even the reader can’t see right away, like his kindness and genuine desire to understand and connect with everyone around him, that he’s shocked to find directed at him in turn.
That Apollo accepting himself and reclaiming his personhood leads to him being comfortable with being Lester, imperfect and mortal as he is. That he takes that imperfection back with him to Olympus… I dunno man I’m Emotional. Also it’s just plain nice that Lester is never treated as ugly for looking like a normal ass teenager, even by the guy stuck in this body. That’s neat.
Or maybe I’m just rambling and this means nothing at all and I’m reading too far into Blorbo from my books.

heyy i just read your headcanons for percy x child of zeus and it was so good!! i was wondering if you can write headcanons percy x child of hades??
omg I was literally on a rant today about how hades is one of the most decent gods out of all of them I love him YES I can do that !!
I feel like people would be even more hesitant and afraid of a child of hades than a child of zeus
because, you know, he's god of the dead and all that
you have to constantly remind people that he's god of the dead and not death
"no that's thanatos you don't want to cross paths with him he's not very fond of demi-gods, but hades is a pretty reasonable guy actually"
but there have been so many stories about hades people don't really believe he's not that bad
so at some point you stop talking to people about him
or at all
you pretty much keep to yourself
it's nice given that you have the cabin mostly to yourself
(nico isn't at camp that often)
but it can also be lonely
percy noticed it one day when you were having breakfast by yourself at the hades table, not talking to anyone
so he got up from his own table and joined you for breakfast
(dionysus did not approve but percy doesn't care lol)
and after that you always have breakfast together
and lunch
and dinner
percy is very sweet to you and makes sure everyone always includes you
during capture the flag one day you pulled some pretty cool moves which earned you the other team's flag
that's when people really started to see you as just another camper
they talked more with you and helped you with developing new skills
the apollo kids taught you archery (even though you aren't that good at it)
you played strategic games with the athena kids to develop "critical thinking skills" as annabeth called it
whenever you were doing something with one of the cabins percy was always around
he was secretly a bit proud to finally see you interact with the other campers
and he would still eat most of the meals with you at your table
sometimes nico joined you as well if he was at camp
if nico was there he was most likely to be joined by will
which then attracted some of the other apollo kids
it usually ended with a bunch of different campers sitting at your table
you always sat next to percy
you liked spending time with percy outside of the meals as well
the two of you often stayed at your cabin or percy's
or you'd watch percy in the lake
you team up during capture the flag (and always win when you do)
during campfire nights you always sit next to each other
percy loves it when you lean against him if you're tired
even though you're tired you'd stay there after most of the others had gone to bed already
it reminds you of the time no one really talked to you and percy was the first person to share a meal with you :')

I lowkey don't know if your currently open to request yet so im lowkey nervous of sending this ask to you but like... If you have time wondering you can do a Jason Grace x Fem!Reader who is a daughter of Eris or Nyx? Im a bit indecisive so idk who to pick because their both interesting tbh
But if the Request are currently closed well.. That's ok ig 👌
⋆⭒˚.⋆ jason grace x daughter of nyx! reader hcs
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
content: jason grace x daughter of nyx! reader hcs warning: language, mentions of being scared and crying and yeah author's note: these nyx ones also are just so- ugh love. that percy one says on top tho like fr who's big brain thought of that bc like it was NOT mine. it couldn't have been the same brain that cannot spell 'own' for its LIFE. there's no way. anyway, enjoy!! or don't, that's cool too ig
i just KNOW daddy dearest is NOT happy about this development
he punchin walls, he sliding down doors all dramatic like, he whinin to hera
not his perfect boy dating the daughter of the one woman he's scared of
and jason can't find it in him to care, breaking away from his father's approval for the first time in his life
and it's freeing and it's lovely because its with you
naturally, bc of history between zeus and your mother, storms scare you shitless
youre sure that at the first opportunity, zeus will strike you down and just vaporize you
(he wont bc he's scared of your mother, who would leave him a puddle of ichor if he so much as thought about it)
that's actually how you met jason
someone did something to piss zeus off (dionysus we lookin at you) so the camp's typical magic border was put on leave and he allowed this huge thundering storm to coat the valley
jason, the sweet boy that he is, was walking around and making sure no one was too scared by the storm
then he got to your cabin
he knocked a few times but with no answer he slowly creaked the door open
there you were, curled up in a ball in the corner shaking and jumping at every crack of thunder and flash of light that managed to peak through
and it was a strange sight because as a daugther of nyx, nothing scared you
jason had seen you with a gash that went from your ribs to your hip bone...and you had been laughing like you weren't nearly cut in half
jason was instantly by your side, crouching down next to you, soft whispers of you name and a gentle hand rubbing at your shoulder
"make- make it s-stop. ple- please," you managed to hiccup through you sobs, looking up at the blonde boy with wide, tear filled and desperate eyes
and jason wanted to rip every cloud apart and every lightning bolt and every thundercrack into nothing more than atoms
instead, he just pulled you into his arms, allowing you to cry into his chest
and he talked over the thunder and the lightning strikes
and you slowly stopped crying, finding a comfort you never felt before in the boy's arms
you and jason never talked about that night again, but the next morning you slid the boy a crunch bar and continued to walk like nothing happened
jason looked at the chocolate fondly before darting his eyes up, just barely catching you looking over your shoulder at him with fondness oozing from you face
from that forwards, it was nothing more than the grazing of hands and the murmuring of loving words behind closed doors
it wasn't secretive, not at all, simply private
some people couldn't tell if they were together or not, or if they even liked each other
but every time, the children of aphrodite would call that person an idiot and then swoon at the sight of them together, the soft exchange of loving looks and the locking of pinkies together
it was a soft and silent love
and you wouldn't tell if from the way they fought
the clashing of swords, the bumping of skin against skin, the kicking of legs, and the shoving of skin
oh, and the snide comments.
"you call that a block? pitiful."
"please, you don't even know what a good block looks like. don't get cocky on me, grace."
"cocky? i don't need to be cocky with you around. it's not that difficult to be better."
"ha! i didn't know you took clown classes! really seem to be paying off! keep up the good work, sparky the clown!"
but then, the swords would be put down and all of that stuff was left in the arena
none of it was taken personal because they knew who they were going home with, who held their hand tightly, who'd stay by their side
jason liked to call you 'sunshine' and you HATED it
"good morning, sunshine!"
"daughter of the embodiment of darkness here"
"okay, whatever you say...sunshine."
"JASON GRACE!"
and whenever someone pissed zeus off (again, looking at you mr. d) before the storm even has time to roll in, youre running to jason's cabin, your blanket billowing behind you
and jason is waiting, arms held wide open for you to crash into
you find peaceful sleep inside his strong arms despite the storm raging on outside
and jason looks down at your sleeping features, lightened up now and then by the flashes of lightning
he couldn't help the clenching of his heart, certain it was his heart simply making room for the feelings for you that were beginning to bloom in his chest
behind his liver hid his passion for the things you loved
next to ribs, you'd find a bundle of devotion dedicated to you and the way your face scrunches up when you joke with him
and shoving his heart to the side, and rapidly feeling up his chest, it would be hard to miss the pure love and endearment and adoration beginning to take over his soul
all for you, his dark sunshine girl

hii ! i love your writing so much so you know i had to request a luke imagine 💝
i’m thinking of a reader with a protective godly parent (your choice of which god), who is very selective on who they allow their child to date. luke has loved them for years, so one night he prays to their parent for approval. idk if you’ve watched gilmore girls, but I’m imagining the scene where dave tries to convince lane’s mom to allow her to date ! (if you haven’t seen the show, its a popular clip on tt that you could look up if u wanted)
i’m picturing fluff but could def make it angst too, so it’s whatever you want! also, i’m a fem reader, but i don’t mind gender neutral or anything like that
tysm ! ❤️
DAVE AND LANE SHOULD HAVE BEEN ENDING GAME
I LIKE ME BETTER. luke (pjo)
( master list )
IN WHICH… Luke is on a mission to prove himself to the father of the girl he loves. He’ll do anything for her hand, even if said god is asking him to do some particularly stupid stunts.
“I like me better when I’m with you.”
Warnings: drinking, smoking, and vaping mentioned
A/N: Guys… I love loser! Luke AND I KNOW YOU DO TOO. I feel like Dionysus would be the guy to put Luke through all this stuff just for his own amusement
Also, this is my little birthday gift for y’all 😽. Bc it’s my bday today 🙀
The first thing when you thought of a daughter of Dionysus’ was a troublemaker, one that rivalled the Stoll brothers. Maybe an alcoholic with bad habits engraved in her mind like her father.
Y/N was a total shock to the camp. How could such a sweet, kind, dazzling girl be the daughter of Dionysus? She didn’t have one mean or sarcastic bone in her body.
She was as bright as Apollo’s kids, as beautiful as the Aphrodite girls prancing around in mini skirts and small tops, and as friendly as the Demeter children who grew roses alongside her. So, it wasn’t a surprise that boys craned their heads to peek at her, something her father hated witnessing. Nobody, not one mere mortal or even a godly being, was good enough for his beloved daughter.
Dionysus held Y/N close. She reminded him of her mother, who died giving birth to her. He had already lost one important woman in his life. He wasn’t going to let history repeat itself again.
“Dad?” Y/N called out into her father’s room, wrinkling up her nose when she almost stumbled over a wine bottle rolling around. Her father was forbidden to consume alcohol but that didn’t stop him from tricking the younger campers into fetching him some.
After concluding that her father wasn’t in his quarters, Y/N took the bottle and wandered to find a bin. The trash cans were always moving around, which made it a mission to find one.
As Y/N passed by the Hermes cabin, she heard her name. She glanced over her shoulder, innocently staring at the pair of boys who were conversing outside. One was leaning against a wooden pillar while the other rested his arms against the railing of the porch.
One noticed Y/N and he nudged his friend, quickly changing their conversation topic.
Y/N recognised Luke Castellan. The Aphrodite girls loved to rave about him, about how handsome and talented he was. How they wished they could kiss him. How they wanted to be held in his arms.
He wasn’t bad looking in Y/N’s eyes, quite adorable actually. She watched as his lips curved into an amused smile as he looked at Chris and how his eyes crinkled slightly. Despite wanting to admire him, Y/N forcefully turned her head. She wasn’t allowed to date. That was one of her father’s golden rules.
She was allowed to drink, allowed to smoke, probably even allowed to go skinny-dipping in the dead of night. Her father was fine with anything as long as she wasn’t around any boys. Of course, she never did consume alcohol or take a much needed hit from a cigarette. She had seen other kids do it.
One of the Ares kids was constantly sneaking in and out of camp to buy new vapes. She had even witnessed Luke of all people, the esteemed golden boy, the role model, blow a cloud of smoke from his lips.
Y/N was always scared she was missing out but she valued her healthy lungs, which had played a part in her surviving a terrifying harpy while on her way to camp.
“She’s perfect.” Luke whispered to Chris.
“Too bad Mr D won’t let you near her.”
It was a known fact that nobody was allowed to date Y/N. She was the camp princess. The only demigod with a parents who cared enough about her to be actively involved in her life. Not even Annabeth had that kind of bond with Athena.
Luke hoped one day Dionysus would let him near Y/N. Until then, he was fine admiring her from afar because he knew no other guys could approach her either.
"You know, I heard Dionysus won't be at the campfire tonight... you could make a move." Chris nudged Luke, muttering quietly so nobody else heard him.
Luke had always been determined to be the first to sweep Y/N off her feet. This was his chance to fulfil that broad claim. He didn't know how he'd do it but when there's a will, there's a way.
All throughout the day, Luke kept close tabs on Y/N. When she was in the arena he was there too, polishing the spare swords. When she was in the garden, Luke happened to be amongst the tall grass too. And he gazed longingly at her from across the pavilion during lunch. She sat alone at her table, Dionysus nowhere in sight.
Luke's heart hammered in his chest as he slowly stood up. Chris slapped his back as a way of encouraging him but it only made his anxiety spike.
“Go get her, tiger.”
“Don’t call me that.”
Luke picked up the pace when he realized that a few other boys the same idea as his. “Hey, Y/N.” He got to her first.
She lifted her head, staring at him through her lashes. She smiled. “Hi, Luke.” She saw his eyes light up.
“You know my name?”
“I’ve been here longer than you. Plus, it’d help concerning if I didn’t know the name of the best swordsman.”
“I’m not that good.”
“You won in a 4 V 1 battle.” Y/N pointed out.
“Did I? I didn’t even notice.”
Y/N let out an amused laugh but she immediately cut herself off when she felt a heavy hand on her shoulder. Luke cleared his throat, standing upright.
“Good afternoon, Mr D.” He politely greeted the god.
“Scram, Castellan.” Mr D ordered, glowering at the teenager. Luke quickly nodded and speed-walked back to his table, where Chris was trying to muffle his laughter.
“He wasn’t even flirting with me, dad.” Y/N huffed and furrowed her eyebrows. Her eyes wandered to Luke, feeling a little sorry for him.
“Stop looking at him, Y/N.” Dionysus lightly scolded her. Y/N pouted and pushed the food on her plate around with her fork.
“I wish you would let me date. I’m the only girl who hasn’t kissed someone.” She muttered, huffing.
“I will not let you date a hooligan.”
“Daddy, Luke isn’t a hooligan. He’s sweet. He’s the best swordsman in three hundred years.”
“Which means he could easily hurt you.”
“He wakes up early to go for a run.”
“Wow, the perfect set-up to cheat.”
“He’s good with kids.”
“He’ll want his own kids with you soon.”
“That last one didn’t even make sense.”
“I know a man’s mind, Y/N. Luke Castellan is a dangerous boy.”
Y/N glanced at Luke and Dionysus followed her gaze. Luke was attempting to balance a spoon on his tongue while Chris cracked up.
“Dangerous, huh? I’m absolutely terrified.” Y/N sarcastically deadpanned.
“He’s acting innocent.”
“Sure.”
Fathers always had a weird vendetta against the idea of their daughters dating. Dionysus was no different. If anything, he was worse. He was always popping up at the worst times, such as just now. He never let the attention of a boy linger on Y/N for too long, scared it would take her away from him. Perhaps he was doing it on purpose.
“It’s so unfair.” Y/N huffed as she plucked petals off a rose Silena had randomly given her. “He won’t let me date or go to the parties. I’m not even allowed to look at a boy!” Y/N groaned, leaning back in her foldable chair.
She was sitting with Silena in front of the quiet lake, watching as the wind rippled across the still water.
“Have you tried talking to him?” Silena suggested, sipping on a tall glass of whatever drink she had mixed.
“Nothing works! Someday he’ll have to let me date. He can’t stop me forever. I’m almost twenty now!”
Silena hummed before offering Y/N some pineapple juice.
“Any new gossip, though? Besides Mr D being a total cock block.”
“Well… there’s this one guy.” Y/N murmured, shyly flicking her straw around. Silena immediately sat up.
“Tell me everything!” She quickly demanded. “What’s his name? Is he cute? Can he fight?”
“He can’t fight… and he’s good-looking. He’s, uh,” Y/N diverted her gaze elsewhere, “Also a son… of Hermes.”
“Luke Castellan!” Silena exclaimed without hesitation. “I knew there was something going on when he approached her! Why haven’t you taken an interest in him before? You and him have been here for ages.”
“He had a middle part before.”
“Oh, I remember that!” Silena let out a quiet giggle as she relaxed again, kicking her feet in excitement. “Ask him out.”
“You’re forgetting one problem. My dad!”
Silena shrugged like it wasn’t a big deal. “Make Luke prove himself to Mr D. That worked with my dad!”
“Luke proved himself to your dad?”
“No, silly! It was another boy. But if Luke wants to be seen as worthy, he has to impress Mr D!”
“I guess.” Y/N mumbled as she slowly nodded her head.
“Great. Let’s get ready for the campfire. A new Ares boy arrived and I want to see Melo flirt with him. She flirts with everyone.”
Y/N poked a large marshmallow through the skewer before shoving it into the hot flames in front of her. Silena was talking but she was too spaced out to hear a word.
Y/N aimlessly hummed and occasionally nodded her head. “Yup.” She muttered, turning her marshmallow over and watching as the soft white treat turned crisp.
“Are you even listening? I said Luke is staring at you.”
That got Y/N’s attention. She quickly lifted her head, her gaze immediately searching for the brunette. She found him amongst the Hermes kids and a few of the Aphrodite girls loitered around him. He smiled at her for a split second before his eyes flickered to Y/N’s marshmallow.
He subtly pointed at it and Y/N huffed once she realized her marshmallow had caught fire and been burnt black. “That was my last one.” She threw the skewer into the fire, allowing the hot flames to swallow it up.
“Well, you did keep eating them.” Silena pointed out.
Y/N sent her a small glare. “You’re literally eating one of my marshmallows right now. You have a whole pile sitting on your skirt!”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Silena was quick to shove the rest into her mouth. “Bye!” She exclaimed but her words were muffled by the marshmallows.
“You owe me!” Y/N called out after her.
“Is Silena stealing marshmallows again?” Luke chuckled as he came to a stop in front of Y/N. He shoved his hands into his pockets whilst Y/N nodded.
“She does this every time. She’s stealing from Annabeth now!” Y/N wildly gestured over at Silena who was sweetly convincing Annabeth to hand over a few marshmallows.
“She should be notorious for being the marshmallow thief.” Luke grinned. He sat down beside Y/N, their shoulders gently brushing.
“Sorry about my dad at lunch.” Y/N blurted out. “He can be a tad… overprotective. You know how he is.”
“Well, I did see him set somebody’s clothes on fire for winking at you.”
Y/N quietly sighed. “Yeah… poor Nick. May he rest in peace.”
Luke glanced over at Nick who was guarding his marshmallows with his life. “He isn’t dead, you know.”
“Yeah, but he looked like he died back then.”
A familiar presence appeared from behind the pair and Luke immediately stiffened while Y/N pressed her lips into a thin line.
“Castellan. What are you doing talking with my daughter?” Dionysus sounded friendly yet when he slung an arm around Luke’s shoulder, he could tell the god was holding back on strangling him.
“We’re just talking about Silena and her marshmallows, daddy.” Y/N quickly piped up, “It’s not a big deal.”
“Castellan, let’s have a chat, shall we?” Dionysus dragged Luke off before either of the teens could stop him.
“Mr D, before you say anything, please don’t set me on fire! And if you do, spare my pants! These were expensive and I even got them on sale!”
“Keep your pants on, kid.” Dionysus grunted, knowing Luke was fully prepared to unbutton his jeans in order to preserve them. “What business do you have with my daughter, hm?”
Luke visibly relaxed at the idea of his jeans surviving the convention. “If it isn’t too bold to say, Mr D… I like her. A lot. I have for… years now. But I’ve always respected your wish to distance her from boys. I’ll even pray to you. I’ll give you wine. I’ll pray to you with wine and vodka and butterscotch and, uh, more wine! And grapes! Big, red grapes! Just give me a chance!”
Dionysus held up a hand to stop Luke’s aimless rambling. “You want to have a shot with my daughter?” He asked. Luke frantically nodded. “Alright. Do as I say and maybe I’ll consider it.”
Luke thickly gulped. He didn’t like that mischievous look in Dionysus’ eyes but nevertheless, he agreed. “Thank you, Mr D!”
Luke was the first camper to wake up. He reached under his bed, pulling out a large bottle of vintage wine he had been saving for this very occasion.
“Good morning, Mr D!” He cheerfully exclaimed, clearly showed the god the label of the alcohol.
“It’s worse now that you’re here.” Dionysus grumbled, yet he held out his chalice for Luke to pour him a much needed drink. Once he had gulped it all down, he turned to face Luke again. “Alright, first task, get rid of some rogue hellhound. Chiron sent me to do it but you’re more than capable, right?”
Luke was in no position to disagree.
“It’s near camp so don’t get ya knickers in a twist.” Dionysus stood up, brushing the bread crumbs off his lamp. “See ya at soon, kid. Oh, and I’ll be taking that.” He grabbed the wine bottle without a care in the world, merrily whistling to him with a small skip in his step.
“Did I just see you talking to my dad?” Y/N raised an eyebrow. Seeing her dad get along with a camper was a rare sight.
“Somewhat.” Luke muttered. “Uh, good morning? You’re up early.”
“I went out for a morning jog.” Y/N smiled as she tucked a stray piece of hair behind her ear. “So, hell hound catching, huh?”
“Yeah- Wait, what?” Luke’s gaze snapped to stare at Y/N in slightly shock. She stifled a small laugh.
“I heard your conversation. What’s the hell hound all about?”
Luke quietly sighed. “Don’t tell your dad I told you,” He leaned forward to whisper in Y/N’s ear, “But I convinced him to let me befriend you if I did a few things for him.”
Of course, being Y/N’s friend wasn’t Luke’s main priority but it was better than nothing.
“You better get to it, then. I’m getting lonely.” Y/N laughed as she playfully punched his shoulder. He chuckled alongside her.
“Yeah. I’ll see you soon.” He calmly brushed past Y/N, his smile faltering, “If I survive this.” He muttered to himself, his hands itching to grab a sword.
Finding the hellhound wasn’t hard. Luke spotted its raven black pelt amongst the bright green bushes. It stood out like a sore thumb. It was getting rid of it that would be the problem.
As soon as Luke carelessly stepped forward, a twig snapped under his foot, the hellhound growled. It loudly barked, baring its sharp teeth at the Hermes boy. He pointed his sword at the beast, narrowing his eyes.
“I swear, if you kill me, Hades better revive me so I can date Y/N.” Luke launched forward, tackling the large dog. It howled as his sword scratched its leg. “Nice dog!” Luke nervously chuckled. The hellhound barked again, kicking Luke with its powerful back legs.
“Easy now!” Luke wheezed, the air being knocked out of him from the repetitive blows.
Luke was supposed to be the best fighter at camp. He never dared picture himself rolling across the ground, practically body slamming a hellhound as mud stuck to his orange shirt.
“Just lie still so I can score a date with my long time crush!” Luke exclaimed as he scrambled to stand up. The hellhound paused in confusion, giving Luke enough time to turn it into fine dust.
“I’m never doing that again.” He muttered to himself as he stormed past the tall trees. Dionysus was standing beside the forest, drinking the wine as he seemed to be waiting for Luke. The god pulled down his sunglasses, bursting into rambunctious laughter when he saw Luke.
“What happened to you?! You look terrible, kid!” Dionysus cackled, throwing his head back in amusement.
“You spilled some wine.” Luke muttered, unamused. His usual perfect skin was now adorned with small cuts and bruises. His shirt was covered in dirt. And his hair what probably taken the brute of the attack. Twigs and leaves stuck out of his messy curled brown locks, which caused Dionysus to snicker.
“I told you it wasn’t gonna be easy, kid. You’ll hate tomorrow’s task even more.”
Luke hated every task.
Monday’s was the hellhound. Tuesday’s little chore was to clean the girl’s bathroom. He found out then how much long hair they lost. The Aphrodite girls always complained about their hair falling out. Well, Luke had found it down the drain.
Wednesday’s shenanigan was to steal Clarisse’s beloved spear. Luke wasn’t sure how he was alive after being caught by her. Thursday was surprisingly peaceful. All he had to do was sneak out of camp to buy Mr D more wine.
It was now Friday. Luke was wondering what Mr D had in store for him today. Breakfast whizzed by as usual. A few Aphrodite girls tried to catch his attention but he was focused on Mr D whispering something in Y/N’s ear.
Luke waited patiently throughout the day to be given an idiotic task. It was lunch time when Mr D approached him.
“You finish this one, kid, and you might have my blessing.”
These words made Luke’s eyes light up. “What is it?” He demanded.
“Follow the trail in the forest, jump across some trees, do a perfect dive into the lake from the highest cliff, and swim across the water towards camp. Easy peasy.”
Luke’s small smile wavered. “You’re… joking, right?”
The blank look on Mr D’s face told Luke he wasn’t. Luke sighed. “I’ll get my towel.”
The run through the forest wasn’t so bad. As soon as Luke gave Mr D his towel, he jogged into the thick vegetation. Mr D would be waiting at the finish line for him, if he ever made it. Climbing trees was not Luke’s forte.
His palms were sweaty as he peered down below, quickly gulping at how far down the ground seemed. “I didn’t know I was this stupid.” He muttered to himself before leaping onto a nearby thick branch. He repeated the action, always barely making it and wobbling.
Small beads of sweat trickled down Luke’s forehead as he hiked up the steep hill towards the cliff under the scorching sun. He could see the small figure of Mr D on the other side of the lake.
Luke was thankful he had taken diving lessons before. With a snippet of hesitation, he gracefully jumped. He hit the cold water, shivering. It felt like small needles poking his body. Luke emerged, panting and spitting out a mouthful of water.
He heard Mr D quietly clap. “Good job, kid.”
“What?!” Luke exclaimed, still too far away to hear the god’s voice.
“I said, good job! It was a decent dive!” Mr D cupped his hands over his mouth.
Luke emerged from the lake, drenched and cold and clutching his body as he searched for some warmth.
“Dad? What’s going on here?”
Both Luke and Mr D stiffened at the sound of Y/N’s voice. “Why was Luke in the lake?”
“Mr D.” Luke cut in, “I have something to say.”
“I’m busy, Castellan.”
“You’re literally standing in front of me. That’s all you’re doing.”
“Don’t let the sassy man apocalypse take you too, Castellan.”
“I have a crush on your daughter, sir. You probably already knew that. I know you have strict rules about dating and boys. But I promise to take good care of your daughter. I’ve only smoked once to try it, I don’t drink because I’m scared it’ll make me stupid, I’ve never gotten a ticket. I’m healthy, I take care of myself, I floss for ten minutes every night and that might seem extreme but cavities are no joke. I do well in activities here and I hardly ever play the video games my siblings do in case the theory of them turning you into a psycho is true. I don’t drink coffee. I hate soda because my stomach can’t handle the carbonation. I’ll willingly eat like a cow if you don’t want me eating meat. I don’t mind wearing a suit in the hot sun. I enjoy spending limited time with Y/N and I really, really, really like her.”
Mr D was silent. Luke subtly cleared his throat. “Uh… Mr D? Please don’t make me repeat that list again.”
Mr D broke into a pattern of snickers. “To tell you the truth, Castellan, I was going to let you date my daughter ages ago. She convinced me. It was just so fun making you do stupid things.”
Luke’s face dropped. “I did all that… for nothing… Clarisse almost killed me!”
Mr D, sensing Luke’s anger, merely rolled his eyes and quickly walked off in a drunken manner. “Have fun, you too.”
“Did you really fight a hellhound?” Y/N asked.
“Yes. It ruined my Hello Kitty socks!” Luke huffed. “But I’d do it again for you. What do you say, Y/N? Will you go out with me?” Luke clasped his hands together as a way of begging.
“I feel a little sorry for you, so okay.” She pulled him into a hug. “You know you’re going to have to prove yourself to my friends now.”
Luke stiffened. “No more hellhounds. Please.”

NPMD characters if they were in percy jackson cabins?
I do this thing where I always end up crossing over my hyperfixations so I NEEDED to do this.
Peter Spankoffski - Child of Athena
Peter is quite obviously a nerd, and while he doesn't come up with many strategies, he does have a some qualities in common with other children of Athena. (he is also the only one to notice that the building was not structurally sound)
Ruth Fleming - Child of Dionysus
Ruth loves theater, so much so that she'll do anything to be around it even though she cant be on stage. he is also the god of fertility which kinda fits yeah
Richard Lipschitz - Child of Hecate
now this one is kind of a stretch, I had a very hard time placing Richie somewhere. I landed on this one because Hecate is the goddess of "magic, witchcraft, the moon, graves, ghosts, necromancy, and sorcery." now while that is a mouthful most of those is what led me to this in the first place. magic and sorcery? that is some anime shit and Richie loves anime shit. now graves, ghosts, and necromancy that one was more of a stretch for me, I mostly chose it because he dies first. yes very big leap. in this little universe I've created for myself there could be a tie to this as to why Richie is the one who interacts with max first idk I'm rambling here.
Stephanie Lauter - Child of Jupiter
we are bringing in the roman gods now. Steph is a child of Jupiter because there is no way she isn't a child of the Big 3. I chose Jupiter specifically because she is often seen leading the group and if i were to chose a character she was similar to it would probably be Thalia. as for the roman thing well its just another way for max to forbid Pete from liking her cause of the camp rivalry. This is quite ironic in the same way it is in the show because....
Grace Chasity - Child of Janus (Huntress of Artemis)
yep grace is also a roman kid, kind of like how she's the exception of being a nerd in the show. I chose Janus specifically because he's the god of "beginnings, gates, transitions, duality, doorways, passages, and endings." Grace is the catalyst to the entire show, she unintentionally causes a lot of the issues that happen so I thought that slightly fit the doorways and passages part cause she kind of leads them through this maze. Grace has A LOT of duality to her. she is a nerdy prude through and through and yet, she does so many things like touching herself and lying to the police! next, she causes the ending of Max Jagerman's life as well as the end of his afterlife so that part fits. as for gates, she just talks about the gates of hell so much and I thought it was kind of funny. being a huntress is kind of self-explanatory though. I mean being abstinent and immortal? sign this girl up!
Max Jagerman - Child of Ares
I really don't even think I need to explain this one. 1. Competitive, its in a Ares kids blood to be competitive, lets be so real right now. 2. Daddy Issues, Every Ares kid has them, I mean why wouldn't they? they are all constantly competing with there siblings for just an ounce of his attention or approval and it just fits in my eyes 3. Bloodlust? have you seen this guy? he killed like 4 people! 4. Fuck Clivesdale
okay that's all I have of the main characters, but I might work on some of the others. or maybe even just Hatchetfield characters in general

In TOA, I like the idea that because Apollo is usually associated with fertility deities, which can sometimes present itself as being his lovers in mythology / being generally associated with him, sometimes fertility deities have an unexplainable Thing for this guy / want to be besties / immediately feel amicable towards him for no reason.
they look at him and go “man that seems like a swell guy. I feel really happy now. Why”
like:
Hyacinthus being worshipped as a fertility deity.
That one time he mentioned the flock of nymphs that love him.
Frey. (Just Frey)
Maybe Persephone had a crush on him when they were kids and Demeter was like “AWW do you want to get married when you’re older??” And Apollo cried because he didn’t want to get married to her.
also the fact that in the Orphic hymn Demeter / Rhea prophesies that Persephone will marry Apollo. You can spin it to imply she would approve of this marriage?? Which given Apollo Love Life™️, implies, with even more stretching, than Demeter approves of Apollo??? (At least until the time they fought bc she wouldn’t let him date another one of his daughters??)
Apollo was (once) Zeus’ favourite son.
Hera is jealous bc he’s capable and “a good son”, which is therefore only possible if she thinks he’s capable and talented.
That One Time in That One Hymn where Aphrodite was basically like “if I was mortal and I could be Apollo’s wife I’d drop everything to be with him!! But not because I like him or anything haha” (I’m so sorry I completely forgot where it was from BUT I REMEMBER A SCREENSHOT OF A TRANSLATION I KNOW IT’S REAL I SWEAR). Also the idea of Aphrodite having a crush on Apollo at some point where he literally just Does Not Care or Doesn’t Even Notice is so so funny.
Being Best Buds with Hermes and Dionysus.
oh yeah couldn’t Artemis arguably be fertility bc childbirth? In that case. Twin.
ALSO IMAGINE IF COMMODUS GOT DEIFIED AS A FERTILITY GOD. THAT WOULD BE SO FUNNY. Imagine going “I’m going to persist as a god so I can D E S T R O Y my E X who I HATE SO MUCH I’m GOING TO KILL HIM and you become People Who Like Apollo type of god.

I like how Jason's reputation amongst the gods kind of cements his character as a dutiful leader. I know most ppl don't like the fact that he's all goody goody, but it really fits his arc well, and i like reading about it. it's one of the things about Jason that Rick didn't fumble. He was consistent with his character being dutiful and noble till the very end and makes it a point to show that through others perception.
Zeus- Okay he's a horrible dad, but he did initially respect his son (before jason opposed him in front of the gods, that kinda warped his ego) even going as far as to saying that he was proud to have him as a son and stuff. Which was a pretty ooc thing for Zeus to do especially to his sons. Too bad it only lasted for a few seconds before he went back to being bitchy.
Hera- Jason changed her perception of demigods, we know Hera hated all demigods bc half of them are sired by her husband, she wanted to use jason as a pawn to Gaia's defeat. But all those times she treated jason as her champion, she ended up actually caring about him and considered him a son. She mourned and cried about Jason MONTHS after he died, even going as far as to yell at her husband for not caring or grieving about the child that HE sired.
Apollo- self explanatory, Jason stood up for Apollo from the very beginning, and ended up dying for his sake, even when didn't have to do that. Jason made Apollo understand to have empathy for humans ("Remember what it's like to be human") and made Apollo stop being so full of himself with his selfless sacrifice. So apollo is the Olympian who has the most amount of respect for Jason. And made sure that Jason's sacrifice would not be in vain.
Artemis- if you go to the official Riordan wiki fanpage for Artemis, it's mentioned that Percy and Jason were two of the only male demigods that she had immense respect for. She mentally thanked Jason for standing up to Zeus for Apollo. Of course, being Thalia's brother could also give jason browny points aswell lol.
Athena- She seemed to respect Jason's wisdom in blood of Olympus, when he told his dad that it was unwise to punish apollo for Gaia's waking. Well know Athena respects anyone who has shown wisdom. She shot Jason a very approving look. So it's nice that Athena, who is very critical and picky, observed that Jason is a well thought out and insightful individual.
Aphrodite- kind of self explanatory too, she called jason a lovely boy in piper's dream, even alluding that jason needed absolutely no physical improvement in his looks aswell. I know this has nothing to do with Jason's dutifulness but Aphrodite can sense a person's heart and nature, and she immediately thought jason was perfect for her daughter even before they started dating. We know how picky Aphrodite is when it comes to who people date lol
Bacchus/Dionysus- We know that Bacchus had somewhat remembered Jason (calling him John green and all lol) because jason had done services for him (something about a leopard, iforgot lol). And annabeth pointed out that it was a good thing that jason and Bacchus were on fairly good terms. So there's that.

Okay okay I know you JUST wrote something for me but I also JUST got an idea! What about either Connor Stoll or Percy dating a daughter of Dionysus!? He doesn’t know initially but when he noticed them spending more time together he gets suspicious and then when he walks into her cabin without word one day and catches her kissing him he realizes that his precious daughter is dating the guy…which he’s not pleased about. So he threatens his daughter’s boyfriend and is all “if you so much as look at her the wrong way I WILL hunt you down and you’ll regret it for the rest of your life” but ultimately approves because he sees how happy that he makes the reader? And so he goes back to reader and tries to make the threat not seem as bad and they just have a cute little picnic or something together.
If you choose to ignore that’s fine cause you did JUST write something for me, but I think it might be interesting.
hi hi! and no worries about the amount of requests ill take em all! because i just wrote something with percy, i'll go with connor + i love the stoll brothers so...thank you for the request!
edit: i just realized i completely forgot the picnic part...im so sorry :(
Tumblr media
You sat on a bench on the porch of your cabin, bending grapevines and leaves amongst twigs to fold it into a crown. Connor, amused, sat at your feet, chin hooked on top of your knee.
"Just wait," you murmured, tongue poking out from your lips as you tie the twigs with a few stray pieces of string, "it looks better when it's on your head."
Connor hummed, raising an eyebrow. You've pricked your fingers about five times, and it'd been an hour of you carefully crafting the crown, but he'd stayed there at your feet for every second of it.
"Aha!" you grinned and leaned down to place it in his curls. Immediately, his dark curls seemed to swallow it up. He winces, as pulls on one curl that had been tugged on uncomfortably when it was placed in his head.
You'd been right, it did look better on his head. The leaves stood out in his dark hair, and the wood of the twigs was a lighter shade than his hair.
You smiled, cradling his cheeks in your hands. "See? Perfect."
He giggled, "me or the crown?"
"Both."
You leaned in to kiss him, when your name was sharply called.
"Y/N!" Your head shot up to find your father, Dionysus, making his way towards you. Connor's eyebrows furrowed, showing his distaste at the intrusion, but stood up and shuffled away a bit. Not even he would dare face your father.
"Papa," you greeted, standing up. He glanced at Connor, but looked over it and waved you forward. Nervously, you hopped down the steps to greet him. Even if he was your dad, and you were around him frequently, he was still a god and could very much turn you into a shellfish if he pleased.
"Yes?" You asked, hands folded behind your back. Your father rubbed his temple, can of coca-cola in hand.
"I need you to overlook the new campers in the archery range. I would ask somebody else, but they all made up excuses and I don't have the energy to do it," he looked genuinely sympathetic for you, knowing very well how much of a pain some new campers could be. It wasn't new to you, for him to treat you so kindly, but Connor made a noise of surprise in the back of his throat.
"Yes, papa. I'll be there in a moment, let me grab my bow," you ran back into the cabin, and exited just in time to hear your dad dismiss your boyfriend.
You gave Connor a brief wave, which he grinned and returned, but stopped and ran when your father stared at him.
"God, I hate Hermes' kids," he said before taking a sip of his drink.
You chuckled weakly, shouldering your bow. "Yeah..."
He walked off, and you blew out a puff of air.
Guess telling you dad about the status of you and Connor's relationship was once again put off.
--
Dionysus knew there was a problem with his eldest child, he just couldn't figure out what.
Castor and Pollux were easy, both boys barely into their teenage years. You were a different story. You showed a whole new set of emotions and talents that Dionysus couldn't figure out. It's why he and your mother hadn't worked out very long (other than the fact he was already married). You and your mother were very similar, but you were both very stubborn.
You obeyed, most of the time, but there were certain things you just refused to bend to. It was what had intrigued him of your mother, but now, while he was attempting to raise you well, it was a struggle.
But even then, you'd become more closed off. You used to greet him daily, whether it was a wave or coming up to say, "good morning!" you always gave him some sort of hello. And sometimes, you'd even join him to play card games, which is more than what he could say for your brothers.
Now though? Each morning when you walked by the big house you were talking to either Connor or Travis, sometimes even both, and it'd been weeks since you bothered to come play games, or even hang around with him.
He didn't want to say he missed you, because it didn't bother him that much. But he was a literal manifestation of entertainment and got bored rather quickly. He loved his boys, but he'd always had a closer bond with you than them. You were a form of entertainment to him, but you were also his daughter and such a shift in behavior concerned him.
Hate to say it out loud or not, he loved you dearly. You were his only little girl.
And it wasn't just the fact you'd stopped talking to him, it was the fact you stopped talking to your brothers too. Castor had approached him on the verge of tears because he'd thought he'd done something to offend you. But, when he payed more attention, he found it was because you'd taken to following the Stoll brothers around.
But teenagers did that right? Leave their annoying little siblings in order to hang out with friends? Gods, he's watched too many romance movies with you.
The number of times he's stared at a TV screen and seen the whiny little sibling snitch on the older sibling after they'd snuck out to talk with their partner should be a crime.
His thoughts flit back to Castor, sniffling in front of him because his older sister was off with Connor Stoll somewhere.
You, with Connor Stoll, somewhere.
Oh, my gods.
He stood up abruptly, just narrowly avoiding knocking over the table as he stormed down the steps of the big house. You had some major explaining to do.
It was easy to see why'd you been dating someone. He cherished you for a reason, so it isn't hard to see why someone else wouldn't. But you were still his daughter.
Connor Stoll? Really? He didn't want you dating any of these brats but there were certainly better options than Connor Stoll. Like that one Apollo boy, but Dionysus is pretty sure he's gay.
He approaches the cabin quickly, and he watches the camper's part to let him walk through. It's easy to anger a god, but it's not easy to soothe that anger.
Dionysus swings the door open and pauses. He doesn't know why he was so shocked, but he supposes it was just the confirmation that stopped him.
There were only three beds in the rather large cabin, so he found yours with ease. There was you, lip locked, with Connor Stoll. He felt his veins light with rage as the two of you jumped apart.
Connor's hand was still on your thigh, and yours on his arm.
"Hands off," he grumbled, swatting at his arm. Connor pulled back as if he'd slapped him.
"Papa!" you cried, jumping up. He didn't touch you, but he held out his arm and you understood. Quietly, you took a step back, staring at the floorboards.
He turned back to Connor, staring at him with wide brown eyes. He raised a finger to jab in his chest.
"Listen, Stoll, because I'm not going to repeat myself," he leaned back, gesturing to the space between you and him. Connor nodded shakily.
"Yes, Mr. D," he stuttered out, glancing over to you.
"Ah, ah, ah. No, eyes on me," Connor's eyes flit to him.
"If you even look at her again, I will make sure you and your future kids regret it for the rest of your small mortal lives. Understood?"
"Yes," he repeated, struggling to make eye contact.
"Good," Dionysus said and then he points to the door, "now get out."
Connor does, only after pausing at the door. He doesn't look back though, and Dionysus turns to you.
He sighs when he sees your tears, and you sniffle softly. "Y/N," he calls gently, raising his hand to wipe at your tears. You turn your head, and his hand brushes your shoulder instead.
You wouldn't dare say anything, so that meant it was all up to him.
"You know I'm doing this for you. Connor...he's just, not the right fit--"
"I loved him though!" you shouted, hiding your face in your hands, "he made me really happy, Papa, and you ruined it!" You sobbed, loud and noisy, and it reminded him of when you were young and wailed over things such as scraped knees.
"You're still young," he tries to reason, "there will be others!"
"Not like Connor," you say, "and besides, I doubt you'd approve of them either."
He pauses at that, hand hovering midair. He never knew what to do to please you anymore. You'd moved away, grown more distant, since your childhood. You'd grown up. He hadn't changed, you had.
Maybe he had to change with you.
His hand grabbed your wrists and pulled them from your face. Then, he wiped at the tears on your cheeks and pulled you close. You fought at first, but melted into the touch once he rested his hand on the small of your back.
"I just want you safe, you know that, right?" he whispered, like it was a secret.
Slowly, you nodded.
"I mean it, Y/N. I love you, and your brothers a lot."
Still, you weren't satisfied.
"And," he said, taking in a deep breath, "if Connor makes you happy then...you can pursue him further."
You jumped back, a grin on your face. "Really?" you asked, a small hint of doubt in your tone.
He sighed, "yes, really."
You threw your arms around him. "Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you!"
Dionysus ran a hand through his hair. "Mhm, yeah, whatever.
You pull back again, your wide grin softening into a shy smile.
"Papa, I can handle myself. I mean it. Thank you."
Finally, a smile makes its way onto his features too.
"Yeah, you're welcome."

Hera as a goddess of legitimacy and a force of legitimisation
A lot of stories featuring Hera (not that many, to be honest, but the most famous ones) portray her as relentlessly attacking both gods and demigods sired by Zeus, which has partially inspired people to think of her as a “jealous wife” archetype, but most of these people ignore the main thing that Hera represents: legitimacy.
Hera as the goddess of marriage rules over legitimate unions, and as a result, may choose to pursue those who betray these kinds of unions in some kind of way. An example would be the speed with which she withdrew her sponsorship of the hero Jason why he broke his oath of love and loyalty to his wife Medea in favour of a crown which he was no longer eligible for.
Speaking of Jason, Hera was pretty much his only patron deity during his quest for the Golden Fleece, which was started as a way for him to claim his rightful place on his father’s throne, and this sponsorship started as soon as Jason’s quest started. No prayer was prayed, no offering was offered. Hera just showed up as soon as Jason’s quest for legitimacy started, and helped him as soon as he proved himself to her by carrying her (in the form of an old woman) across a river.
Also, Hera is a goddess who is known for testing the worth of both gods and heroes, especially when they are destined to enter Olympus (her home and domain), and especially when they were born out of an illegitimate union on either her or Zeus’s part. The torments endured by the various children of Zeus at her hand, and even her own (for the purposes of this essay I will take Dionysus, Apollo and Hephaestus)
Apollo
Apollo’s ordeal started even before he was born, as his mother Leto has been denied the right to give birth on any island attached to the land, and was relentlessly chased by a giant snake. Here Hera imposes herself and shows her might as the definitive and legitimate wife of Zeus (Leto was Zeus’s previous wife), and brands any child born from Leto as being under her in terms of status. When Apollo is born and slays the serpent Python, Hera is then forced to recognise that his trial is complete and that he has a claim to the Olympian seat.
Hephaestus and Dionysus
Hephaestus was conceived as a kind of revenge plot against Zeus for conceiving Athena on his own, from the sacred bed which he shares with Hera, but without her input or approval, which prompted the goddess to do the same in order to restore the balance of power within their marriage, and to show Zeus that if he could make a child on his own, then she could too.
However, when the infant Hephaestus was born, it was either Zeus or Hera herself that hurls him down from Olympus, however godly he may be, crippling him in the process and forcing him to EARN the right to re-enter Olympus (kind of like how Hercules in the Disney movie was debuffed so that he would earn his way back into Olympus), which he ultimately achieved by capturing Hera in a golden throne (literally trapping her with one of her most sacred attributes).
Dionysus’s trial begins where Hephaestus’s comes to an end. Having met Hera in his childhood and been rendered mad by her which led to him being rescued by Rhea (whom I assume here to be Rhea-Cybele, whose cult has some of the mad and wild attributes of Dionysus’s), he must have already taken notice of the tests given to him by the goddess, and was waiting for an opportunity to finally take a seat among the Olympians after having established a very respected and feared mystery cult among mortals, so when he heard that Hera was captured by an angry Hephaestus, he jumped on the occasion and coaxed him into following him back to Olympus, where both would finally get recognised as legitimate both in the eyes of the gods and of Hera.
Hera and the sons of Zeus
Hera’s tests mostly seem to affect her husband’s illegitimate Olympian sons, as can be evidenced by the lack of trial for goddesses such as Artemis or Athena. Why is that so?
Personally, I think it’s because sons in Ancient Greece were more valued in society: they could inherit their father’s property, they had claims to the throne and could be seen as heirs to it in case their father somehow resigned. So Hera branding these sons as reformed illegitimate sons could be a way for her to negate their claims to their father’s power and nerf their chances of growing too powerful at the expense of her legitimate children (Orphic Dionysus was literally said to be Zeus’s heir, and would have been had Hera not told the Titans to dismember and eat him), while checking if they are still fit to set foot on Olympus after that serious debuff.
But that’s just my thoughts, I don’t have any source or academic paper that confirms this.
A rule of thumb when analysing Greek myths is that they don’t exist in a vacuum and that as entertaining as they may seem, there is something more to them most of the time, and that is especially the case with a goddess who has a history as long, rich and complex as Hera. It’s really a shame that people only see her as a mean shrew when she has so much more stuff going on, but I guess that with pop culture this complexity has to be diluted and thus misinterpreted by people who don’t have the religious and cultural context of these stories.
Thank you for reading if you made it this far, and may Hera bless you.

i am so happy for the increase of people like Clarisse La Rue in the new show (and im ignoring the people who don't like her) (also, i have not watched the show yet, in support of Palestine's boycott against Disney+ and am currently too sick to figure out the safest way to 🏴‍☠️) because she is such a good character and i would cry for a well-written book/fanfic series from her pov
like. she truly is the epitome of "my dad is the worst man alive and i am his favorite daughter" and i super respect the decision that this adaptation has towards going towards the whole "in my version, Clarisse will never win her father's approval because she isn't his son" sentiment. not to mention, the decision to couple that by having her be cast as a person of color in addition to her pre-existing character having been someone who has been frantically trying find the opportunity to prove herself, being indirectly one-upped by white boy Percy coming into camp day 1 having fought a minotaur. the intersectionality of her misdirected fury is impeccable. fantastic, no notes
but im also just psyched for her and Chris Rodriguez and i really wish they had more focus in the books. because they are as fantastically amazing as all the other S-tier ships in the series. i think they could even rival Percabeth (notice: i didn't say "could beat", i said "could RIVAL", no Percabeth fans send me hate), honestly, if Clarisse/Chris had been given a chance to somehow be of focus. because you're telling me angry, overlooked Daddy Issues(TM) Clarisse gets to find love with Chris "calm and patient while caring greatly for Clarisse" Rodriguez? the son of Hermes who said "fuck Camp Halfblood, fuck these gods" and went to Kronos and Luke's side? who went into the labryrinth and was driven to insanity? by King Minos himself? who Clarisse was so gentle and sympathetic for, even when others thought he might be a lost cause? even when others debated even helping him because he was "the enemy"? who, after Dionysus (and lets be honest, also Clarisse, because she was his caretaker until he could be brought to Dionysus) cured Chris of his insanity, this guy saw what a catch Clarisse was to have in your life, seeing her as someone sweet and loving (because she can be! she is!!), that who she is as a person single-handedly conVINCED HIM TO LEAVE KRONOS' SIDE AND COME BACK TO CAMP??? SO HE COULD BE HAVE A CHANCE TO BE WITH HER??
their love is so iconic. and that's just the one big moment we get from their story; im so sure there is more that we dont get to see all due to them not being focused on in the story. im so glad theyre still together and so in love. its what Clarisse deserves. i hope the show shines a light on how powerful their love is too. Chris fixes none of Clarisse's tragic father-induced issues, but it helps to remember that at least she has Chris, and im so glad she does. Clarisse is a warrior that deserved a great love-story

Nico and Will Headcanon
So you know how some people refer to freckles as 'sun kisses'? well what if after Will and Nico start dating, Nico gets like a bunch more freckles just randomly and thats apollos way of saying he approves of solangelo. maybe will would get flecks of gold on his skin from apollo, and like three different letters (death threats) from Percy, Hades, and Dionysus (in that order).
(my friend came up with the flecks of gold and death threat part)

Headcanons for Hera’s relationships and dynamics with the second gen Olympians?
Sure thing! There are some HCs where Hera might be painted in a bad light, but rest assured that I have no ill-thought of her. They are simply how I think she and some of the second-generation Olympians view each other.
Hera gets along with Athena and Persephone the most. Not only because these two were born before her marriage to Zeus so she doesn't hate them, but they also hold positions that can be near or equal to her (Athena is the unofficial heir and Persephone is Queen of the Underworld)
Hera and Athena have no problem becoming allies in the Trojan War. If it weren't for Zeus' No Intervention policy, Hera's power and Athena's wisdom combined would make the Greeks win easily.
They also watched over Jason and the Argonauts together, helping them in every way in their journey. But in the end, Athena had to talk Hera out of her fury when Jason cheated on his wife so the Queen wouldn't smite Jason herself.
Hera was Persephone's mentor, teaching her about queenship. Girl was a farmer goddess one day and suddenly became a queen in the next so she had no idea how to be royalty. Hera had to guide her step by step in how to run a kingdom.
Hera was extremely pissed at Hades for abducting Persephone. Sure, there marriage was legit according to law, but she was angry at him as a protector of women.
The only thing more complicated than topology mathematics is Hera and Ares' relationship.
Ares' loyalty to his mother was predominant, but not unchallenged. The two most significant times Ares actively defied Hera were engaging in adultery with Aphrodite and supported the Trojans. Hera was seething when her son was against her, but also heart-broken.
Hera loves Ares and expects a lot from him, but her son is like a reflection of her and Zeus' darker side. Seeing his rage in the battlefield reminds Hera of her own wrathfulness that she doesn't like to admit.
But that doesn't mean Hera have nothing to be proud of with her son. Ares never settled down in marriage, but he is respectful of his lovers and holds all of his children dear. Hera finds condolence that despite her never being the best mother, Ares doesn't pass down the generational trauma.
Hera and Hephaestus' relationship isn't as complicated... but it runs cold. Aside from Hephaestus' revenge on Hera with a magic throne and Hera approved Hephaestus' divorce with Aphrodite, they didn't talk much anymore.
Although Hera had stopped persecuting Artemis and Apollo since they'd became Olympians, she still jabbed them every once in a while. The twins will ignore most of the time until she mentions Leto.
Hera hated how Zeus spoiled Artemis and let her get away with things. She deemed his favoritism will make Artemis disrespect the law and cause more ruckus.
If Zeus couldn't do it, then as the head matriarch, Hera would be the one keep the wild girl Artemis in line. The Trojan War thing is an example.
The first major milestone for Hera and Apollo's relationship improvement is when they eat one peaceful lettuce meal together. No jabbing, no snarking, just crunching lettuce. It was then Hera found Apollo's presence to be more tolerable.
When Hebe was born, the Olympians who had tensed relationship with Hera took it as a chance to make peace with her by providing magnificent gifts for the girl.
I assume Hebe cried a lot when she was born, and she suddenly won't stop crying during her presenting party. When the other gods failed to calm her down with their gifts, Apollo soothed Hebe with his music. This earned him the true respect of Hera.
Although Hera is more accepting toward Hermes than Zeus' other illegitimate children, she still side-glanced him for dating Iris, her handmaiden.
Dionysus had to run away from Hera most of his childhood. When Dionysus became an Olympian, Hera ceased fire like with the twins, but peace wasn't truly restored until much later.
When Dionysus married Ariadne, Hera finally softened when she saw how much he loved and upheld his wife. Just be loyal to your spouse and the Queen of Olympus will spare you.

kinda curious what do you think about rhea
I think she’s a pretty interesting character, I’m really fascinated by her relationship with Hera since there aren’t really any sources directly stating what their relationship is like but we do get enough to speculate.
When Zeus tried to seduce/trick Hera as a cuckoo, she says she can’t sleep with him bc of their mother (to which he says that he’ll marry her) now what did she mean by this? Did she mention their mother bc she’s shy about having sex? Bc she’s scared that Zeus won’t respect her consent so she brings up their mother? Or is it bc Rhea doesn’t approve of them together? There is a lot arguments for and against all of these and it’s fun to speculate.
There’s also the fact that Hera mentions Tethys a lot, constantly praising her foster mother while never really talking about Rhea much. There is also the fact that some sources state that Rhea raised Dionysus and that she was there to comfort Leto while giving birth. Which I’m 100% sure Hera is upset about, does she feel that her mother prefers Zeus over her?
Complex mother-daughter relationships are my shit.
I kinda don’t like when Rhea is portrayed as only trying to save Zeus, I feel like she would try to rescue all of her children ever since Hestia was eaten. After all, there are several stories about Hera and Poseidon not getting eaten.
