hey! alright so i may have done a thing

so for the past,,, idk 3 weeks? ive been going on a deep dive into spelling bee mostly to sedate my own curiosity of needing to know everything about what i'm interested in. as it turns out, there is a LOT of content with this musical, so i'm here to talk about my findings! note: i will be keeping this EXCLUSIVE to the original 2005 off broadway cast. as much as i'm a brown university girlie through and through, the original cast is where the content is. OKAY FIRST: youtube findings

a lot of small videos were made usually with logainne and leaf. you'll be quick to learn that they made the most off stage content. i have a public playlist with these videos, along with interviews, the original boot, and a few other things. the cast album isn't in it because that's audio only and i want visuals damnit. (plus its on spotify and easy to look up so.) the exception is 25apcsbmt12doc because its pretty underground and the purpose is to get word out about niche things.

second: myspace pages a lot of the spellers have myspace pages! this is like. a common thing!! only two were archived (leaf and logainne) and are able to be accessed! i'll talk about the others in a bit. they contain new information and i personally find them very interesting!

there's two different things here so i'll separate them :]

3.1: r/v club

r/v club is a short film by rebecca feldman (one of the people that worked on spelling bee) that includes logainne! it can be found on her site with other short films. i believe this is the only one with her in it HOWEVER i have not checked therefore i could be wrong. it's set post-spelling bee, i believe. also jesse is in it but not as leaf.

fourth and final: lost media (to my knowledge)

okay, spelling bee has.... QUITE a bit of lost media. again, this will be separated into parts.

4.1: C-R-E-P-U-S-C-U-L-E

before spelling bee was a thing, crepuscule (albiet mispronounced) was an improv play made by the farm. (same group who made r/v club) a lot of the characters were similar or the same, and it has a similar premise. however, it wasn't a musical. from what i've heard, there USED to be a boot of it, however i haven't found one of my own. i would love to be corrected.

4.2 myspace pages

remember how i was going to say this was going to come up again? hi thats now. outside of leaf and logainne, other myspace accounts were made! mitch (comfortcounselor), olive (mydictionary) + (oliveostrovsky), chip (chiptolentino), marigold (marigoldconeybear) an olive and barfee joint account (ilovemydictionary), and a leaf and logainne joint account (schwartzylogan). there's also another leaf account with the very confusing name of panchspell the issue with these is that theyre not archived, so you'll need a myspace account with a verified email to view these. in the year of our lord 2024 that's not exactly an easy find, especially since verification emails no longer send. plus, one of olive's accounts is dictionary.com now so,,,, who knows what it looks like there. most also need a connection, which makes things even MORE difficult. i hate how close but out of reach these accounts are.

4.3. spelling bee game

yeah they had a game. it's on the site, and it's eternally stuck at loading characters from my experience. here's the link anyway! game

4.4 the dirty bee

oh jesus its the dirty bee. so for context, in 2006 when the show was running, a few nights were booked for spelling bee that were meant for mature audiences and were 18 plus. it's catered towards people who have already seen the bee and want something new. it was inspired by jay (panch) and putting in words or sentences researsals that were clearly for funnies because he was bored. alas it became a derivative of the musical. all we know is what an article provides (theres more than one but the one linked gives the most info) and that chip quote unquote "finished off" at my unfortunate erection according to jose. there's rumor that chip is canonically bi in it but theres no sources so,,,, can't confirm that one.

as someone who's pretty much exclusively interested in a) female characters, b) minor/background female characters, and c) F/F rareships/crackships usually also involving minor or background female characters, the fact that such a loud chunk of the fandom has the sheer audacity to demand that L*rian canonize their wish fulfillment fanfic about romancing male characters that have PLENTY of fan content already, relative to their role in the game, is just soooo

I agree with the sentiment but about antipsychotics just fyi in my experience they can be incredibly helpful for extremely severe dysphoria and intrusive post-traumatic symptoms. I haven't seen anything published on this but i other know people who experience similar effects. I agree that they are over-prescribed but there are indeed reasons to prescribe them other than making the patient comform to social norms/ function under capitalism. They do not produce euphoric feelings but they do alleviate dysphoric ones - the function of medication is to minimise suffering not create pleasure and antipsychotics have potential to do that

You shudder as you realize that it’s almost time.

In no small part, the immense cramping and tension is due to how quickly you've grown with the monster's offspring. My brave facade falls apart as I begin making guttural noises of intense pain and distress, the clear sound of my uterus rupturing filling the space we're in. Your own child is eagerly shoving and thrusting away, the pressure is driving you insane, you almost wish your own womb would disintegrate just so the pressure is lessened.

Your wish comes true, much to your horror. You feel intense agony, followed by cold numbness. The sound of tearing flesh once again fills the air, but this time from you. You can almost feel every fiber of your uterus being broken one by one, torn apart by tooth and claw and pure, brute shoving force.

We don't have long at all now.

I'm beyond words, falling back from my aggressive, sensual position. I land against the wall across from you, vividly illuminated by the phone while I lean against the cool stone. Sweat drips from my aching, burning hot flesh. I utter a guttural moan as I convulse, toes curling and feet kicking at the floor, shoving myself harder against the wall, instinctively trying to escape the agony and maddening pressure that was echoing through every inch of my being as I began to reach the final moments of hatching.

There's no escape for either of us, however, my scuttling and pleading meaning less than nothing. Our rape babies were ready to be born, eager to emerge any moment now. Your own monstrous offspring is tearing the gaping wound in your uterus even wider, biting off chunks with its teeth while digging into the meat and fat of your abdominal wall with its claws. Every little movement from inside sends white-hot pain shooting deep into your soul.

It’s ok, cry out with the agony of it. There's nobody here to judge you for your helplessness but me, and I'm certainly not handling it any better. Sob and fan your hand at the blazing hot tearing feeling coming from your bruised, life-filled midriff, beg your child for mercy, pray to whatever gods may or may not be listening. Whatever makes you feel better as your deadly child makes its path from your breaking, bleeding body.

I arch my back and curl my toes, lifting myself on my hands and opening my mouth in a silent scream. You see crimson start to leak from a tiny puncture wound, a small spike having punched through my fragile flesh, which then quickly withdraws. Seconds later, you feel the maddening, searing sensation of your unwanted infant's claw piercing your flesh as well.

Not much more. Let it come, hon. Let your inhuman rape baby burst out of your belly as you sob and scream, let your newborn kill you as it rips your abdomen apart.

Don't fight it.

Let yourself birth.

As you tense it hurts even worse, when you relax you feel yourself being torn apart even more quickly, but to slightly less agony. You can tell I'm doing what I can to let my baby come, but can see just as easily that my abomination is obviously enjoying my pain, punching several little holes, even slicing along my skin as though ready to emerge, but always stopping just short. Your own offspring begins to torment you like this as well, savoring your screams and tears, enjoying the feeling of its glorified egg trembling and twitching with every little movement it makes.

This creature is no innocent creature, bursting because that's the only way it knows how to be born. No pitiable, ugly child that has a bad reputation through no fault of its own. No, our children are their father’s sons, through and through, sadistically enjoying torturing its way out of their hosts as they bleed and scream and convulse, likely already looking forward to inflicting this condition on another victim.

You lay there for what feels like forever, the monster's unwanted child thrusting and biting and clawing, feeling it toy with your organs, puncturing your lungs and intestines with its powerful hind legs, making you and I cough up blood as we twitch and spasm violently. Slowly, we begin to get weaker, growing cold due to blood loss and trauma, feeling our lives slip away bit by bit as we struggle to deliver our horrific bursters.

Then, at last, I speak once more. "It's... COMING... OUT!!!" Pushing my belly up as far as I can, at last, the tattered flesh rips open, making a sound like a wet paper bag holding an excited puppy. And, bit by bit, your own child presses forward until your own weakened flesh is overwhelmed. With an inhuman screech, our children tear free from our broken forms, disappearing into darkness quickly, before we can even properly take in their shape.

hii!! i consider myself a independent catb fan since i got into then in 2019 and i obsessed over the songs and lyrics and stuff but never actually got to the fandom? like never knew the fan side of things just the surface level (i was the obsessed and totally into the fandom from another group so i stayed at my comfort zone haha)

with that being said!! im here to ask you kindly if you could tell what happened between them? like what the fans knows with details because i only know the facts about the show being canceled, bob, benji and bondy left and they unfollowed/blocked van but since i was looking around those days i've seen memes and stuff and a few things i missed out and i wanted to understand :(( if its too much to ask like too much work for you its okay!! but i think it would help other people who feel a little lost about everything as well :)

hello lovely, and welcome, we're glad to have you here! might i ask which band you were obsessed with instead? and i can definitely understand, i was actually the same way before i actually got involved in the fandom over the summer. c:

and yeah, I can give a quick rundown! i don’t think there’s an official post detailing what went on since lockdown, so here we have:

A (brief) Summary of CaTB’s Decline

Silence from the band once the pandemic hit. Lack of communication ever since has gotten fans quite frustrated, and remains so today. Since March 2020.

A fan noticed that Bondy, Bob, and Benji resigned on Companies House, which made the fandom wonder if the band had split. March 2021.

Catfish play Reading + Leeds Festival, collectively relieving everyone that they were there. August 2021.

However, Bob announces his departure a month after R+L on Instagram. He’s been working on his own music ever since. September 2021.

Bondy’s friend releases the Hide and Speak podcast, with him as a guest. More speculation on him leaving the band as he’d exclusively used past tense when speaking about his time in Catfish, along with a few statements he made towards the end that people interpreted as slating Van. December 2021.

Unfollowing commences. The fandom freaks out upon seeing Van’s following count go down, thinking he’s been active on IG. Chaos. Turns out, it was simply Catfish’s ex-tour manager Steve removing him as a follower. Later on, Bondy seems to unfollow Van and Larry, with rumours that he’s even gone as far as blocking both of them. Odd since Van hadn’t been on IG since 2017. Start of 2022.

^ As of today, Van follows Benji and Larry. Benji follows Van and Larry. Bondy only follows Bob. Bob only follows Bondy. Larry follows nobody.

Bondy got drunk on Tom Ungerer’s (bassist for Sam Fender) IG live, where he says he’s not fond of Van. When asked if Catfish were splitting up, he laughed, looked away, and said “I have no fucking idea, it’s got nothing to do with me.” Bondy also stated he’s working on new music, “trying to make music fun again, last time I was in Catfish and the Bottlemen, I was never allowed to make my own music.” With this live, Bondy had essentially confirmed he and Van have fallen out, and his creative freedom was limited when he was in the band. February 2022.

Larry logs onto social media for the first time in literal ages to unfollow everyone, and remove all his content. February 2022.

Catfish were supposed to open for Stereophonics in Cardiff in mid-June, but they pulled out two weeks prior due to unforeseen circumstances. June 2022.

More silence. Then, Bondy made his statement, confirming he officially left the band back in March 2021 and hasn’t had any affiliation with the band since, due to “reoccurring intolerable behaviour” within the band. This means he had stepped in as a session musician in the last 4 summer shows that Catfish had played. He also described relationships in the band as dysfunctional. Fans have taken this to be at the cause of Van, though there isn’t much clarification on whether this is true or not. Bob then came back on IG and blocked Van and Benji. June 2022.

Dave Sardy (producer for The Ride) posts photos in the studio, teasing possible new music from Van/Catfish by putting the Catfish hashtag in captions on IG. The fandom collectively exploded, again, and so we do every time he makes a post with Catfish in the caption. And every time he likes a comment asking for new music from Van. Since June 2022.

Now, to the present. Van’s disappeared off the face of the earth, the last time we saw him was 400+ days ago when Catfish played Neighbourhood Weekender 2021. Benji recently got engaged. We have snippets of Bondy and Bob (now Rob) working on new music.

Daichi smiles as he trace over the lines, written by his one and only soulmate. This morning, the mailman came by, knocking on his door as he rush up from his bed. Daichi holds it up, staring over the lines before deciding that he should take a bath first before reading the content and so he did. Once Daichi finish his bath, he puts on fresh clothes and make his way towards the kitchen to grab some coffee before sitting down on the couch with the letter in his hand.

The envelope are beautiful, its pristine white with gold shimmering over it are just perfect for his eyes. Well, of course.. They're highly exclusive for his eyes only. Slowly taking a sip from the small cup and putting it back, he tried to calm himself down before actually reading the letter. He wouldn't want to ruin this.

Slowly opening the envelope and takes out the letter inside, his eyes scanned through the content, that with each word had him smiling, even if there's still a bit of aching in his chest, he ignored it all and continue smiling, because that's what she was hoping for while writing this beautiful letter.

“Hi, nice to meet you. My name is Y/n L/n. I'm (y/age) girl, my hair colour is (h/c) and I swear it's so smooth and silky, you will love it!... Remember this? That's how I introduced myself on our very first meeting! It was embarrassing, I could die just by remembering it.”

Daichi snickers before continue reading the next lines.

“Oh no! you're sweating! Are you running on fever?!... and this is the question I asked you after bumping into you on the night when you've just finished training, that had you chuckling at how serious my face is after you told me about training. Gosh, wish you would've said it sooner!”

Daichi's start laughing louder, his whole body shaking while trying to hold back his laughter.

“I'm sitting here writing this while laughing, remembering our awkward lovestory. And I'm sure you're laughing right now, because we're soulmates.”

Daichi's laughter died down as only a small smile gracing his lips, eyes scanning the near end letter, feeling the ache in his heart thumping against his chest.

“Take care of yourself, Love.. Sorry for not keeping my promise of growing old together, and give you a back massage. I hope you'll be able to move forward. Towards your new chapters, even if it doesn't include me in it.”

He scanned the true end of the letter, the Love Letter his most beloved sent for him, and the last lines read,

“I love you more than anything.”

A small drop blurred the writing a bit, as Daichi tried his best to wipe his now flowing tears, clutching on the letter as small sobs and whimpers left his mouth.

“Please come back to me, Y/n..!”

He softly whispered as he slowly put the letter down and leaned backwards on the soft couch, his arms covering his eyes as he cried again silently, thinking about the future both of them could have, before God decided Y/n was too nice to be left in this cruel world, so he had to take her away. Away from her soulmate, leaving only this Love Letter behind.

Long time, no see. Bear with me, it may be a long one.

The past few years have been what the kids call ✨ w i l d✨ for me. I started my Kemetic journey in 2016, and since then I have moved cross country three times. I was active on tumblr when the first one happened. However, tumblr took a huge back seat in my life as I started walking down my polytheistic path soon after.

I eventually moved to TikTok where I finally got the courage to teach about Kemeticism and make videos right before cross country move two. I had moved to Florida to help my parents run a restaurant on Sanibel Island. Those two years allowed me to flourish into my Kemetic path, teaching and making videos. It is a lot of fun for me!

It also gave me space to open an Etsy shop where I made Kemetic devotional bracelets. It was a dream of mine for the longest time, and I was super thrilled to be able to make subtle things like that for fellow Kemetics.

September 28th 2022, Hurricane Ian took the restaurant from us--and my Etsy shop as I don't have the source for a PO Box anymore. Our personal apartment was safe, but the restaurant suffered massive flooding damage and we aren't able to financially build again. So, cross country move number three took place when my husband got a job back where we were before Florida.

It's been a super wild six years.

However, I was able to find my passion teaching Kemeticism and about The Neteru though TikTok. It eventually led me to start a podcast called The Magic of Egypt that I host with my best friend. I am editing Episode Nine as I write this.

That's where this post comes in. I didn't utilize tumblr for a multitude of reasons; one of them being that it was just too much to add to TikTok, twitter, and instagram. I still won't be utilizing tumblr to be frank with y'all. I might doom scroll sometimes and post what I usually post here but that's about it.

I'll be using TikTok, going LIVE there once a month, and now my Patreon. My Patreon has a few tiers that include Neteru of the Month posts, Deity Tips, a discord server, and more exclusive content. If you're looking for a safe space for Kemetics, I'd love to see you.
