What is an unpopular ship that you like?

I mean is one of those "I ship it more for the potential and not because I want it to be canon" but U know I really like Riza X Kain SDFGHJ I just think it has a lot of untapped potential in the fandom space of Inflicting Characters With Things SDFGHJ

I mean, I do very strongly believe that Fuery has the most intense crush on Riza. In a way almost innocently because while he knows about Ishval, he didn't experienced it so that concept of Riza as a killer is very distant to him.

I think it can be sweet!! I like the way that Fuery is the only one that we know joined the military for not nationalistic/militaristic reasons. He just really wanted to work with radios and the army is the place with the most advanced radio technology, in a way he is the one that least expected having to see combat. I think Riza would find that... relatable? DFGHJ and like going "They both like dogs" is very basic but it gives them a point of bonding outside of anything army related, which is something I think she would appreciate...

It can also be very very angsty! Kain does look a bit like Roy if you like the whole "I am dating other people to forget you" type of deal. Also and more juicy, I do think that if there is a Team Mustang relationship that can really have some power imbalance drama is this one from the side of Riza being the one in power... In Royai is anything but a formality and maybe an excuse and most times it ends up a bit annoying LOL and with Havoc or anyone else I see it as less of a problem because idunno they don't really give me those vibes. But Fuery??? The youngest member who also idolizes his boss??????? The boss that has gone through everything and is talked about as the best sniper in the whole army while he is just a little guy into radios?????? NOW THERE I feel there are more solid character reasons for Riza to feel there is an abuse of power in place, SPECIALLY if she is in fact using him as a way to move on from Roy......... There is so much potential here oooouuughhh brain too full............ I just inflict them with things

Which character do you think is the most egregiously mischaracterized by the fandom?

huuh good question because while I am very intense over Riza mischaracterization I feel like she is not more mischaracterized than say.... Izumi or Winry or Olivier or even Roy for that matter. People tend to get a lot of their first impressions of characters as their only vision of them lol

If I had to say one that really does annoy me though is... People not realizing the Chimeras as meant to be read as disabled in the same way Alphonse is lol. Specially the one's introduced during Briggs.

Alphonse connects with Jerso and Zampano over their shared experienced of being dehumanized by alchemy, where Alphonse tells them that they are still human despite of these changes, that no one can define them as anything else but themselves, and in the same way, how they relate to their condition. That's also why it bothers me so much, because the message about disabilities isn't complete without them, because while Jerso and Zampano find peace in their condition and still want to find a solution to live their lives how they want to, Darius and Heinkel are extremely happy with how they are right now! Is about body autonomy and deciding what is best for you by your own metrics. People ignoring them, including people with extremely good analysis over the disability representation over the rest of FMA makes me really sad lol

Hey! I just want to make it VERY clear that I don’t expect much from this and I completely respect if you just simply don’t want to talk about this anymore and want to be done with the fandom/show (and you delete/ignore this ask as a result):

But, is there any chance you would be willing to tell us about the plans you had for your Lunter fanfic, Second Chances? No pressure at all, I just wanted to express how much I admired your writing and characterization, and I really loved that fanfic and I guess I’m just curious about how you were planning to end it!

Again, if you prefer to not answer this, I completely understand, seriously. 💕

Hiya! Oh, gosh, yeah, I had a lot of plans for that story. If I had continued with it, it probably would have ended up as long as Ships That Pass in the Night. My ideas tend to get kinda . . . long. 😩 Longer then I have the time for, sometimes. Alas.

I have indeed moved on from the fandom-- canon was just making me feel so frustrated-- but I don't mind sharing my Outline for the rest of Second Chances. Fair warning, though, it's long! I don't have the word 'rambles' in my username for no reason, haha. (And thanks so much for your kind words, by the way.)

-Oracle Homework. Hunter helps Luz with her Oracle homework. Talking to her is so much better then texting. Luz has glyphs that lets her activate the magic orb when she touches it. But while she has the magic she still needs the technique, to see the future. Hunter never has done Oracle magic of course. But he was taught the principles even thought he could not use it himself. He guides Luz through the process. Tells her to close her eyes and listen to his voice. With his coaching she can open her eyes and see the fragment of her future in the orb. She is thrilled. He's honestly surprised it worked. He asks what she sees. Luz says, "I see . . . us!" Hunter is floored by this statement. His heart flip-flops. "What?" She goes into more detail. She sees them camping together. Like they talked about before. Roasting marshmallows, eating s'mores. Hunter sort of squeaks, 'Really?' (The spell was meant to show your heart's desire, for the future, the trajectory of your current path) Hunter can't get this out of his head the next day. He tries desperately to forget about it.

-Glyph Magic. He's falling for her so hard. He grows slowly more rebellious. He continues to watch her glyph videos and eventually tries making glyphs for himself, and decides to show Luz, he is so excited. He does it late at night and Luz is so excited for him. They flirt.

-Ruler's Reach. He knows what he's doing is risky. But he doesn't care. Talking to her is giddy and intoxicating. They talk about Luz's writing for Ruler's Reach. It's casual and comfortable, so easy to talk to her now. They tease each other in an affectionate way.

-Staff Practice. She calls him during the day for help with staff tricks. Hunter is so damn in love he'd drop anything for her now. So he skips out on his duties to help her. He can't do much over scrolls though. He wants to go in person, but he isn't quite bold enough to do it. He helps as best he can, feels deeply frustrated, Luz almost gets hurt but saves herself with glyphs/only gets a little scratched. She thanks him for the help but he feels bad he didn't just go in person to help her. (He's terrified, go and meet the enemy? What if someone saw him?) Oh my god, he wanted to see her so badly. Luz: 'No I get it, I do! Don't worry.'

(but he WANTS to be able to be there. he WANTS to see her in person. and he's starting to RESENT the coven. he's so jealous of her being at hexside and doing all these fun things, he wants to share that with her, oh god, but he can't. he can't.)

-Luz Fills In. And then he learns the flyer derby team is down a player (Willow texts and asks if he can come, he says he can't and feels bad), and Luz ends up doing it, and Hunter is like but u need more training!! and she's like it's ok willow is gon help me and Hunter is so jealous and it hurts

He later sees they win!!! He is so proud. But wishes he could be there. It makes his throat tight, it burns. He does not sleep well at all and has a crap day next day, at the end of the day he is just an absolute mess and decides to brew a sleep potion. But he screws it up a little and gets kinda loopy and drunk. He texts Luz.

-Drunk Texts. He texts about his crap day and how much he wanted to talk to her. how he wanted to play the flyer derby game with her. he shit-talks the coven a little. luz is giggly at it, because he normally isn't one to talk such smack. it devolves into him rambling about how she makes him feel, how much he admires her, luz is really flustered and starts to wonder what's going on, he asks if he can call her because he wants to hear her adorable laugh, she calls and asks if he's okay, he is SO adorably excited to see her, she's like "are you okay man" and he's like, "damn girl I am now that you're here," Luz is like 'asdfrfhhgkk!!'

'so just like, curious, do you have any like, boyfriend or girlfriend'

'Oh my god Hunter seriously, are you okay'

'you're avoiding the Q :('

'um, no,'

"oh, cool! I mean. uh. it. would be cool. for. anybody whod want to. be that."

eventually Luz works out he's had a sleep potion but he thinks he kinda messed the recipe up a tad. luz gets worried and questions him further about it, but he explains it prob wont hurt him and will wear off probably around [insert time] (he knows potions pretty well) and luz realizes it's prob okay. she probably doesnt have to go over there.

hunter: 'you want to come here??'

she's like ah ha ha ummm that might not be a good idea, just promise me you'll drink some water and go to bed, okay? hunter is pretty suggestible in this state so she convinces him easily.

-The Morning After, he has a bad headache and is mortified at what he did last night, and is so scared he's wrecked his friendship with Luz. He cannot risk that, he values her way too much. Luz texts and checks in on him, and he is like........what do I say.

'luz I am so sorry'

(he does NOT remember all the stuff he even said, which is normal when you are drugged and sleepy, tbh, I don't recall all the stuff I think and say either when I've had my sleep meds. but he does recall being flirty and excessively honest and a few things he said, like how adorable her laugh is)

Luz assures him it's totally fine. And it was honestly freaking adorable. He's still embarassed, but she promises it's fine he just needs to be more careful with his potions.

Hunter tries to busy himself with work and forget about Luz. Yes, she is so tempting, she is so wonderful, but he had to be realistic. He could never be with her even if she DID want to be with him.

-Tibbles' Shop. And yet when he's out on patrol, busting Tibbles' shop of human trash, he can't help but think of her. And how much she misses home. He awkwardly asks Tibbles what a human would like. Eventually he gets a broken ukelele. He knows he can't bring it to her, but maybe he can play it for her? She could hear a human instrument. Maybe she'd like that. And m-maybe it would make up for the fact he couldn't be there for the team in person.

-Music Practice. He practices when he thinks nobody will hear, but Raine does. He is embarassed and tries to act dumb, but Raine is like cmon man what do you take me for. Sighing, Hunter shows them the instrument and explains it's human in origin and he was trying to figure out how to play it. Raine tells him it is out of tune (whatever it is) and they take it and tune it up. It's similar to a number of Demon Realm instruments, close enough for Raine to figure it out. The music it produces is lovely. Hunter wishes he could sound like that. Raine is happy to teach him, Hunter is hesitant about asking others for favors. Raine says it's fine, and also wonders why Hunter's sudden interest in music.

He finds a way to surf the human internet. He finds a song online to practice. He's never going to show it to her. Never. But he enjoys practicing it. Just as he enjoys practicing for Flyer Derby. His glyphs.

(haven't sketched out the scene where he actually plays for her, but he does at some point)

-Darius narrowly saves Hunter's hide. At some point, Kikimora finds a post on social media that shows Hunter with the rest of the Emerald Entrails (Willow had posted it), sporting a cardinal palisman, to boot. Kikimora brings this up to Darius, gleeful at the notion of busting Hunter. Darius has to think of a lie quickly on the spot to protect him. He mocks Kikimora for thinking that student was the actual Golden Guard. Obviously it was just some highschool student using a glamorstone to imitate him. Didn't she know it was popular among kids to use glamorstones to imitate celebrities? Very cringey, these kids, but yeah. AS IF the Golden Guard would waste his time playing sports games at Hexside?! Kikimora, you're ridiculous. Meanwhile, Hunter overhears this whole conversation, grateful for the save.

-And then, The Emerald Entrails lose another team member. Skara leaves the team to play Grudgby. They're in trouble. Without a full team, the EE will be disqualified for continuing to play matches. They need a new member. Hunter learns of this and wants to help but is incredibly torn about things. How can he possibly help? Eventually, he thinks back to Darius' lie to Kikimora and it gives him an idea. He goes to Darius to beg for help on his cover story. His cover story: he is a Hexside student named Caleb who does most his work as distance learning and he uses a glamorstone to look like the Golden Guard because he admires him. Except this isn't just a cover story. With Darius' help, acting as his legal guardian (forged paperwork), Hunter literally, legally gets accepted by the school this way-- so that he can join the game and play.

-Flyer Derby Game. We swap to Luz POV. We are not aware yet of all the stuff Hunter did with Darius to pull this off. We just see Hunter dramatically show up right in the brink of time to join the game and thus save the team. They play together, Luz & Hunter have incredible teamwork, pull off some really snazzy moves, flirt during the breaks, during the game too, are huge dorks, they win it for the team, it's a close race, they're victorious and so elated at the end, Luz kisses his cheek as the drink is dumped on them. The moment Luz looks away, Hunter bails, though; on the pretense he has to get back to the Coven before anyone notices, but the truth is he bails because he's overwhelmed and so tempted to pull Luz into his arms and never let her go.

-Aftermath. The social media reaction about that game is strong. Everyone adores the new student Caleb and how he and Luz won the game. There also are a lot of comments on how they looked together aaaaaand some implications are made about the nature of their relationship. (Luz tries to hide these comments from Hunter.) There are also some comments saying mean stuff because that's the nature of the internet, but in general it's a big hit.

However, Hunter is in crisis. He's certain he must not see Luz again in person, no matter how much he yearns, now matter how sweet it tastes to just be a Hexside student with no worries, how tempting it is to help her with Glyph videos, no matter how many comments on Penstagram are asking about them, etc . . .

-Climax of story. This is the moment Hunter faces a choice. I have multiple possible directions for the completion of the story. I usually leave multiple possible threads open for a story and don't decide on them until I have reached that point in the story. So this part isn't sketched out. But it's either Hunter chooses to stop interacting with Luz and remains loyal to Belos, or Luz manages to somehow convince him to rebel.

I do admit my favorite idea was that one night, Luz appears at his window, and the air in his lungs tastes like ice water; her eyes glow like the moon, and his skin prickles with gooseflesh from head to toe; the curtains flutter in the breeze, and in that moment, Hunter's resolve to stay away from her snaps like dry kindling.

hmmm.. well! first i do wanna preface this with the obligatory "i'm not hating on anybody with this, u do u and i do me is my genuine philosophy. i'll respect u from the distance if you do the same for me"

aight so i'm not gon list every ship in the fandom that has spawned in outta the stardust n give my specific opinion on it, cuz i'm not exactly keepin up

the only two ships i don't mind n find cute on the paper are NSH x Moon and Arti x Gour cuz both of them have that Old People Love Each Other in Easy Peace Despite The Circumstances Surrounding Them kick to them. i'm a weak bitch for that type of troupe for romantic relationships. not gon do anythin with 'em in my own stuff, though

i find myself more interested in the entirely and wholly platonic interpretation of everything in the game. platonic love is a matter of course, makin the story flow feel more smoother to me for that while also stayin nicely close to that religious narrative of the game (u can fight me on this but the Ancients' religion isn't *wrong*. the bad thing that happened with it is that it was taken to extremes and variety wasn't allowed. i could tell you why riddin oneself of the third and fifth sin isn't a bad idea at all- afterall, i kind of live by that myself!- and what they probably meant by riddin yourself of the sins without the extremist approach)

for the other ships... 🤔

well, the iterators are far too rooted in my head as sibs to vibe with ships with them, but more properly told: • Suns and Pebs are too much of "teacher and naive student" to me and i also find this dynamic more interesting to explore. uuuuu how spicy it is to think of Suns brainwashing Pebs but meaning it well uuuuuuuuuu • Suns and NSH are... let's just say that if i was in NSH's place and Suns talked to me like that i'd slap them so fuckin hard n if i WAS in a romantic relationship with them i'd dump them then and there (not in a bitchy ex kind of way, i'd be still down to talk, but i can't imagine bein in a relationship where the other half calls the most likely inevitable death of your closest friend a "setback" to their brainwashing of that friend's little brother would be Very healthy) • n i think what is the only other iterator ship left, Sliver and Moon... i find it kind of silly, honestly? like as far as *i* know the main reason why that exists is cuz Moon remembers what happened with Sliver after being given her own pearl about some notes she wrote herself on Sliver despite being baround three gazillion bagillion braincells short. i don't really see that as a strong incentive to start shippin 'em cuz like. you give Moon a very solid memory jogger and right in her second set of monologue she states that Sliver is literally a legend among the itties-titties. the best i can compare it to a real life thing is asking an american if they have any idea who Abraham Lincoln was at all. or asking a slovak if they knew who Finally managed to solidly establish our language after centuries of oppression. like of Course you're going to know That even on ur deathbed??? those are incredibly important historical figures for you n your home!!! also c'mon she remembers the feckin bug pupae, if THAT stuck in there this big boy info is def gon be kickin around

as for the slugcats... well ehh..... you can probably guess from what i mainly draw that i'm not Too focused on the slugs, only maybe Hunter so my slugshippin lore knowledge is p weak. when i first saw the slugshippin take off before i started postin bout RW again i thought it was silly to ship animals n still kinda do? 🤷‍♀️ doesn't help that canonically they have no business meeting each other except Monk n Surv (that is a strong No to shippin) and Hunter's writhing corpse n Gour (we are Not ducks we do not support necrophilia). i generally like to stick to the timeline, personally. good world-building. i respect good world-building too much to deviate too hard

BUT! i am going to use my status as pre-Downpour RW veteran and tell you to not listen to the whiny wrinkly babies in the tag that wail about how slugshippin is ruining the fandom. fuck 'em bitches, you do what u wanna (within moral common sense)

Yandere Zane Flynt x Platonic! MiniVH! reader HC

@yandere-plague/ Mad Moxxi did this before, and this is a tribute?? If it can be called that, to Yandere Plague / Mad Moxxi.

HC's under cut.

n my head, a mini VH is kind of like Ava, but way better, an apprentice who's main purpose is to make sure no one dies too much. Or to curse out people we don't like, either one.

Mini VH follows Zane around having a blast with him, because he treats everything like it's just either a normal Tuesday, or since he's on retirement, he might as well have fun with it. But! Because Mini VH has fun around him, he tries to keep that going when they talk about going back to Sanctuary 3 or something of the sort, he tries to manipulate and distract you (which works quite easily because Zane is like an endless party) by dragging you along with driving and doing crazy stunts while in a tank or attempting to do something that a 'kid' shouldn't do.

Yandere tendencies may start whenever, although it's hard to see the red flags since it likely started early on; maybe when the two of you met, or when you became an apprentice for him.

As the story progresses and he becomes more of a yandere for Mini VH, it's easier to tell, not because he wants Mini VH to stay at Sanctuary 3, but because he wants Mini VH to CONSTANTLY be near him, he treats his Digi-clone like a real person (even if it is meant as a joke in the franchise) and you expect him to not want you around him all the time??? Blasphemous!!

Before kidnapping: Would probably try to trick (In a playful way) you with his Digi-clone, but not have the scheme end up working, simply because the reader has been around him enough to be able to tell the differences.

After Kidnapping: Would absolutely use Digi-Clones to spy on you. If Mini VH escaped ever, Digi-Clone would be an obstacle because one, it will tell him when [clone] has spotted you, and soon you'll be in his loving [NOT really] arms, since he can switch spots with them quickly.

Before Kidnapping: Asks Mini VH which guns he should keep or sell, for their opinion on how to kill bandits and psychos faster and definitely not because he wants to know more about the type of guns you like so he can gift you them. No definitely not.

After Kidnapping: would do the same with the guns, but since Mini VH is upset with him, (And likely always will be) Mini VH will lie or tell him to keep the wrong ones. He doesn't want to upset his kid so he pretends to throw out the ones you said to, but would keep them anyway.

Before Kidnapping: Constantly be near him, He will always want Mini VH, his little kiddo to be near him. It's not worrying that I [Zane] blew up an entire camp looking for them while they were talking with Marcus! It's totally normal to want to keep your kid- Apprentice safe!

After Kidnapping: Surprisingly, CL4PTR4P has a purpose than the franchise's punching bag. Since CL4PTR4P has been shown to not care about 'Enslaving' (Keeping humans in rooms) humans, he enlists CL4PTR4P to help keep you in his room [The room for the Vault hunters]. He keeps CL4PTR4P doing this with promises of helping him create Veronica. If this is after Baylex is on the ship, he also enlists Baylex into keeping you trapped in his room because Zane uses the fact that he got Baylex out of the situation, surely he can help with this one itty bitty thing; Keeping you trapped.

Fl4k would be a big helper for his Kidnapping phase to happen sooner, rather than later. Because Fl4k doesn't know that Kidnapping is viewed as horrible, he spurs on Zane to keep his kid- Apprentice safe while Zane 'hunts'.

(PRE BAYLEX) If you ever made it out of the room on Sanctuary 3 while Zane is out on a mission, (which would be easy because it's CL4PTR4P.) There isn't anywhere for you to go. Lilith has no reaction OR [if Ava fucked things up at this point and Maya is dead] she is happy to turn a blind eye to Zane's obsession because it means Zane has a reason to come back, and Mini VH can't screw anything up like Ava did. (Thanks Ava. /Sarcasm)

(Post Baylex) You ain't making it out of that room. Ain't no way. Baylex has control of the EINTIRE ship and he keeps that room in lockdown mode when Zane isn't there. The only way you would ever get the chance to escape is if Zane was on Sanctuary 3 and well... Zane is there so unless you got out to see him, (which would be the only acceptable thing) Zane will find you and put you back in the room. The telezapper [Map teleport thing] won't work because you need Zane to do it [because when you were an apprentice, you needed to be around him at all times.] And Ellie's Drop pod won't work because Ellie lost Scooter and ain't losing someone else again just because you're 'uncomfortable' being kidnapped by Zane.

Best chance of escaping is either the common route [Pretending and going along with their delusions] or to exploit the father/kid delusion he has. "But, how am I supposed to learn how to take care of myself, if I'm stuck here on Sanctuary?" The mini VH asks, with full intentions of trying to escape. Because of the Father/Kid delusion he has, it would be easiest to exploit that, and would give you the biggest chance of escaping. If Mini VH can get on the surface of [any planet], they have the highest chance of escaping Zane's clutches. If this version of Zane has all of his Special skills, I highly doubt your chances of staying un-kidnapped are high.

The room is cold, and you are often left bored out of your mind since only the vault hunters can open the vault in their rooms, and since he often leaves for a great period of time... he accidentally isolates you and makes it so you rely on him for companionship. Accidentally, because he didn't realize it would work this way of manipulating you, he just didn't think about how it would affect you.

I don't have a single fandom I'm known for or particularly attached to right now, so ill just jump around as i feel.

THE CHARACTER EVERYONE GETS WRONG

I am self appointed idiot who makes every character i get my grubby little hands on ooc. Because of this, I can't say for sure that any characterization I see of my faves is objectively WRONG because my own ideal version of them is surely not right. Now, having been an adult and saying all this I can say with the utmost confidence this award must go to Claude Von Riegan [FE3H] just by virtue of how he's probably one of the more popular characters i adore and as such gets the brunt of the bullshit.

I hate when people write him as this flirty, overly charming guy. Claude cannot flirt his way out of a clear bag and he is paranoid as shit. He isn't seducing your white prince and dragging him down to the dark (ha) side. He also doesn't strike me as someone who's deeply curious about other house's gossip because he actually cares. Claude stays in the know because not knowing is a blind-spot he can't allow himself to have. Screams. its whatever.

5. WORST DISCORD SERVER AND WHY

Worst discord I was ever in ... hard toss up between the ye-olden HQ discord servers or the one dmcl one I was in? Surprisingly, as far as I experienced it, both had very nice people in it on the whole. But the sad truth is too many cooks in the kitchen fucks up the simple soup-- which is to say, having so many other fans with different [WRONG] interpretations was annoying.

I can't deal with not having complete control or like, a general understanding with the people around me in fandom discussions so these servers were just, by their own nature, places I was never meant to be in. [Spits] What do you mean CLAUDE would wanna join the BL class. Go to hell.

6. WHICH SHIP FANS ARE THE MOST ANNOYING? WHY?

Short answer? sylvix. Long answer? Regardless of the fandom, the fans of the biggest most accepted ship [canon or otherwise] will always be the loudest and most annoying imo.

When you've never had to work for your food you get comfortable fast and complain more. Its a natural byproduct of being lucky enough to deeply enjoy the lowest common denominator. In most cases, regardless of fandom-- whatever reigns supreme brings the biggest headaches with it. But If this is still too general then... mmm.. people who ship objectively canon ships because their imaginations can be too small and they'll find rare-pairs odd, weird or even stupid to be into. Many a time I've had someone tell me "they've never even spoken tho.." as if that was a needed component of every ship. They're tiresome people with tiresome arguments. But it's whatever <- she is the most annoying bitch alive.

7. WHICH CHARACTER DID FANON RUIN FOR YOU?

This one is really interesting honestly. I'm usually pretty ambivalent about anyone that isn't in the blorbo pile or the poison pit.... but.... maybe Dedue or Ferdinand? Usually most of the word count is just used for shit you didn't even come to the story for. That's fine, I respect any writer who can even make that much of ANYTHING, but people who can read it (and more so ACTIVELY search for it) are odd to me.

the d4 yaoi yuri explanation post time yayyyyy!!!! this post and this poll will explain why this is happening btw.

there are heavy spoilers for persona 2, revue starlight, revue of souls (thing from the movie), roselia's 1st band story as well as semi-general spoilers for the side nova, side origin of rondo, rondo's 1st unit story and a little bit of d4dj first mix!)

before you say anything, yaoi and yuri are not based on gender, even though the examples im using are two boy couples and two girl couples. the word count is also 2,081 words so if u genuinely are curious, please continue reading!

im doing yaoi first to make my life easier, then yuri, yuriyaoi, and then yaoiyuri.

my example for yaoi is not the more popular one (sasu.naru/naru.sasu) but these two!

these two ^ are kyo (one on the left) and iori (one on the right looking gay rlly gay) from the kof franchise!

theyre fated to be rivals because of their clans, but they fight for their own personal reasons. iori is obsessed w kyo, you see. to the point that when he could stop having fire powers that are connected to his curse -- a curse that will make him die very young and every woman of the clan upon giving birth will die-- he decided to not do that and keep it so he can kill kyo. iori doesnt like violence, but when it comes to kyo? he has exceptions.

kyo is also semi not normal about iori. iori almost died twice, and during those two times, kyo brought him back to life with his flames in the manga and manhwa even though he says it's a pain. iori has many nightmares about kyo, most of which involves him being friends with kyo.

also there's this:

everyone in the game, even the newcomers, notice how obsessed kyo and iori are with each other. even characters that haven't been in the game for a while.

this is why neosophi is like these two (at the beginning. the obsession, the want of wanting the other to live because you cant live without them (sophia) and the fact that the other wants to be friends with the other deep down (neo).

thanks to the latest abyssmare event in en, theyre starting to lean to yuri rather than yaoi, but they still have many things to work out, so im keeping this. the real yaoi relationship in d4 is actually weronika and neo but w these 4 ships the most yaoi one has to be neosophi, sorry.

now, onto the yuri !!

the examples i could be using are so many, but i decided to go with these two.

^ yukina (left) and lisa (right) from bandori!!

some of you probably know their relationship but for the people who don't know, lisa and yukina are childhood friends. yukina is the leader, composer and vocalist of roselia, while lisa is the bassist. the both of them understand each other so well yet they have difficulty opening up to each other at the beginning. nowadays, they have good communication and can tell when the other is upset or struggling with something, lisa makes sure that yukina is okay and yukina does the same for her.

yet again, theyre childhood friends so their fates feel almost intertwined, like they were always meant to be together. yukina has even said once that she feels that lisa was fated to be part of roselia, even though lisa quit bass at first.

hayakoko is very much like them (from what we know abt their relationship the moment), they both understand each other like no one else because out of everyone in their group they know each other the most and got closer (and was almost separated) because of music. they make sure the other is okay and feels safe.

now that i've explained how yaoi and yuri are (to me), it's time for yuriyaoi and yaoiyuri!

first, the difference! yuriyaoi is when there are more yuri elements than yaoi elements, while yaoiyuri is when there are more yaoi elements than yuri. both of them NEED to have elements of both for you to classify it as either! but sometimes if the relationship has an equal amount of yuri and yaoi elements, then it's okay to use them interchangeably, it just needs to specifically have the same amount of yuri and yaoi elements in the relationship.

something i have changed from that post is that i made tsubaoi yuriyaoi rather than kyoshino, which is because they both have the same amount of elements of yuri and yaoi. (and are most alike compared to neosophi and hayakoko)

so, enough stalling, first up is yuriyaoi!

my example for yuriyaoi is actually these two guys from the persona series! (i could make an actual post of just them and it hurts that im condensing so much of their relationship, so if you would like to know more about these two, just play the game.)

^ their names are tatsuya (silly w the brown hair) and jun (the one w the bangs and is smiling so nicely)

jun and tatsuya are childhood friends that lost contact with each other because of events in the game. they are both literal parallels to each other in that they are "shadows" to each other, look similar to each other and their stories are similar (they have papa issues). but they are also opposites. jun is very soft, gentle and emotive while tatsuya is rough-looking, intense and because he is the protag for p2 he is a silent protagonist.

even with tatsuya's rough exterior he is very kind, is a bit awkward when interacting with people, and is willing to do anything for his friends. jun is good with science and astrology, while tatsuya is good at physical education (specifically sprinting). they also both exchanged treasures to each other. jun gave tatsuya his father's lighter, while tatsuya gave jun the watch his father gifted him. there was this one part in the game, where one of the characters pointed out how they are alike which made jun embarrassed but happy about it.

at the near end of the game, if you know the persona lore, there are things called shadows -- a side of someone that they dislike about themselves -- and main characters needed to fight that version of themselves. when they faced tatsuya's shadow, he taunted tatsuya and said that he hated jun. there is a choice to say if you hate jun or not, but canonically tatsuya doesnt hate jun, which is evident in eternal punishment (the other persona 2 game). it's the same as well for jun. they hate the side of themselves that tells them that they should hate the other, which causes some sort of conflict between them that is resolved based on what you say when one of the characters asked tatsuya which one of them that he likes.

if u choose jun, they will be lovers, but even if the relationship status was 'best friends', the dialogue in their contact (the first image) for them would be the same even when they are lovers. it shows that tatsuya and jun are very passionate for each other no matter their relationship, lovers or not.

now. how this kind of yuriyaoi is like tsubaki and aoi. both tsubaki and aoi have parallels to each other. tsubaki is a girl that struggles with how she sees herself and her worth like aoi, but instead of her looks it's with her singing. both tsubaki and aoi are good at singing and djing respectively, the other noticing and loving that fact about each other, but singing and djing are opposites in a way (like w jun and his love of science and tatsuya with his skill with sprinting). because with singing, all the attention is focused on you, while for djing you are almost invisible to those around.

they are, too, opposites in terms of personality, aoi is very kind, gentle and patient. while for tsubaki, she can be quite intense and brash sometimes, but is simply just awkward and has difficulty with talking to people. tsubaki can be very kind to those that she trusts and keeps her friends close to her heart and aoi does as well. tsubaki and aoi did not exchange treasures like tatsu.jun, but they did exchange words that are like it. in side origin rondo, at the part with aoi talking to a "shadow" of herself, that side of herself tells her that tsubaki, hiiro and nagisa dont care about her anymore and that she should too (similar to jun and tatsuya's shadows telling them to hate each other) before tsubaki reaches out and saying otherwise. at the first rondo unit story, aoi did the same for tsubaki as well, that reaching out being the entire reasoning rondo is rondo.

and so! before i start making this post about tsubaoi and tsubaoi only, onto yaoiyuri!

my yaoiyuri example was difficult to get because it required that it had more yaoi elements than yuri and it was not another male couple (it also had to be similar to kyoshino), but after a few seconds of thinking, i came to the conclusion to use these two:

this ^ is tendo maya (brunette) and saijou claudine (blonde) from revue starlight!

im sure some of you have heard of these two idiots, but i'll explain to those who are unaware, maya and claudine are rivals. claudine is an ex-child actress while maya comes from a family of famous actors. both of them are in the same class (both top students) and are partners in everything theater pretty much. now you must ask, where is the rivalry aspect? well, claudine keeps on challenging maya all the time in some way. in eating (who gets to eat first), in acting (look at the quote for the first image) in the underground fight club for stage girls and many more!

the reason for this rivalry was that claudine didn't really know how amazing maya was properly at first until she got humbled by maya's abilities in the audition to their school and decided that she needed to be on the same level as her, causing claudine to be the only one out of the entire class to be around the same level as maya. claudine always challenges maya and the other does not mind it, in fact, she loves it. every single time claudine challenges her, maya returns with the same amount of passion for it, causing the both of them to become better as stage girls because they keep pushing each other to their limits.

in the movie, there is these revues (search up the definition pls--) for certain pairs, one of them being these two. their revue is about claudine being a devil making a deal with maya, who is a "vessel of god", to show her a performance no one has ever seen before. during the entire revue for these two, maya says that she is perfection and that she is not a human, but at the middle point, claudine points out how prideful and arrogant maya is, showing that she is human. because of this, this causes maya to get angry at claudine and let their true battle begin. cue the homoerotic sword fighting, the faces being milimeters away from each other and really gay lines that are questionable at best. near the end, they say this:

and maya loses and says that claudine is beautiful, implying that the beautiful performance that no one has ever seen before is claudine because people focus on maya so much they dont notice claudine's accomplishments. their revue ends with the both of them promising each other to keep on being rivals until the end.

so, how does this flavor of yaoiyuri fit kyoshino? well -- it's a bit obvious -- but kyoko and shinobu are rivals as well. both of them are admirers of each other because of how skilled they are in music (like how maya and claudine admire each other for their skills in acting). both of them (shinobu and maya) are arrogant w their abilities to the point that if they do something they are unfamiliar with they get flustered easily. when the other (kyoko and claudine) first met them, they thought they were on the same level until the other (shinobu and maya) humbled them which started their rivalry.

shinobu and kyoko both challenge each other in song-making and songwriting to better each other because theyre the only ones who are on the same level as them in those abilities. they also just, yk, challenge each other in general i think.

But I meant in the sense that she would be unaware that she was dating someone, as I think the trope is very cute (and her realization when she finds out would be cute too!)

Take for example, Cater (since we've discussed him and Ruthie being a possible ship in the past!)

Perhaps at the end of the event, he asks for her socials/phone number (so that they can keep in touch) or he sees her again when she goes to NRC to visit Yuu.

They start to talk, with Cater deflecting whenever she mentions finding someone for him (since he's interested in Ruthie and wants to get to know her) Soon they begin hanging out, Cater telling her about a new cafe that opened up and asking her to come with him or inviting her to a performance the pop music club is having.

Cater has her contact under a cute nickname in his phone, bringing her up more than he realizes in conversations.

At this point Trey and the other Heartslabyul boys are encouraging him to ask her out (I can just imagine Ace saying something like, "Just ask her out already!!" after Cater brings her up again in one of their conversations) and his clubmates encourage him too

So he does and she says yes! Great! They're dating now!!

Only Ruthie doesn't realize he was asking her out, thinking they were just hanging out like they usually do.

Doesn't even think anything of it when he gets more touchy, holding her hand or cuddling with her. She's an affectionate person, so she wasn't phased by it.

And then Cater invites her to an Unbirthday party, where he plans to officially introduced her as his girlfriend (since some people have only heard about her and don't really know her, due to not being part of the event) and that's when she finds out they're dating!

Something like that!

i don’t know about u but i relate to each and every one of the owl house characters so much. and they make me feel safe on a different level. and it’s not like id ever type a 15 page long essay about it what do you mea

thinking about when Amity stopped herself from watching Luz’s video without her permission despite being immensely worried. thinking about when she confronted Luz and made sure to communicate first and comforted her instead of accusing her of stuff and how Healing it was for me to watch that. thinking of Lumity’s enemies to lovers and how obsessed i was and how completed i felt. this ship meant so much to me no one will ever know. forever the kiss scene the animation the dialogue everything i will cry thinking about it Every Time

thinking about Willow and Gus’s friendship. thinking about them so hard. i personally relate to both Willow and Gus soooo strongly. Willow is me in so many aspects: the therapist friend, kind of underestimated, sort of the mom but also cradled as the child and Gus is just a silly guy as well as the smallest one in the friend group which i highly relate to. strangers tell me and my twin sister apart by me being smaller than her and my friends call me short and small on a daily basis. okay and them together is Crazy. i loved the way they met and Willow’s tactic to calm down ive been using for a few months now whenever i have a really bad day. and it genuinely helps so Fucking much so i will forever owe that to TOH. i think my dream will always be to have friends like the two of them

ok next Hunter. to be honest i was never the biggest fan of him merely because of how over hyped he was by the fandom just because they all had crushes on him but he’s genuinely such a cool guy. he was such fucking good representation and idk but the way we got to watch him form relationships with everyone. it was beautiful. and i heavily relate to him despite him being a sort of grouchy dude and me being an overexcited puppy. he’s got this gifted kid burnout and obsession with validation vibe that is identical to mine and it means a lot to me to see my weirdest most annoying toxic traits seen in him

okay as you can tell im unhealthily attached to this show. these paragraphs are kind of silly but i don’t think anyone will Ever Ever understand no matter how many words i write . i remember starting the show in quarantine and being so obsessed with it and staying in bed all day. i had to hold in my smiles all the time it was exhausting. one time i tried to explain the show to my sister and i cried and couldn’t stop. it’s been a while since it’s ended but i still think about it on a weekly basis.

Gingerbright's description says that she was baked "with leftover dough from making Gingerbrave" which kinda says that yeah, the two are related. I don't blame you if you didn't know about that as personally I didn't for a good while

they r not. let me explain.

Canonly they r NEVER stated to be family or see each other as such(arguments for found family aside) and in the valentines day event devs paired them??? in the picture i had in my og post it was clearly meant to be brave and bright but thats not the only reason i dont see them as family

their chart also doesnt say family, and while for some cookies it makes sense why in ovenbreak it would say that even when canon(Princess and Tigerlily separated at birth so not KNOWING they r related to eachother) Gingerbrave and Gingerbright have interacted w/ each other in MANY forms of cr media being the 2 main mascots even if bright is less so and they have never referred to each other as siblings(to my knowledge, if someone has proof of that ill change my mind). Hell they came out of the oven together and don't call each other siblings. Brave called Dozer his brother in Ovenbreak yet ha called Bright nothing but a trusted friend.

Actually, do you want to know what their charts do say? Bright's chart "My bravest friend! He's so brave!" FRIEND not brother. His? "Shes the brightest Cookie I know!" nothing saying thats his sister, if anything it is actually implying they r close friends again.

And while Brave has said to have a canon family member(Dozer) in the YEARS Bright has been around they never said she's his sister, being baked from the same dough i get why ppl would see them as related...but imo that doesnt make them related.

Littleray no other family member has been said to share dough??? for Alchemist and Vampire they r both grape based(grapes and wine), Almond and Walnut r both nuts, the Cherry Trio r all related to cherries, cherry blossoms, and candy cherries...none of whom r said to be baked form the same dough iirc??? its clearly ingredient based??? even mustard and wasabi r both condiments...and yet there r many cookies who share ingredients who r NOT related as well, like Latte, Affogato, and Espresso all being from the coffee tribe yet sharing no canon relationship or Bluelily and Lilybell who r from the same village sharing flowers as an ingredient yet being implied as a ship in canon...

Hey, did u know in the og korean txt of line(and possibly ovenbreak I havent checked) Devil uses Angel Cookie batter w/ added bat extract? while many hc the 2 r family its never canonly stated they r. Actually, in the comics, there were multiple Angel Cookies who all shared ingredients but didnt share relation.

Can i also use her whole description here? bc i think it says something u kinda didn't see...

...to me this doesnt imply the witch made him a sister, it implies the witch made him a trap. bc he was lonely she sent him a cookie similar to him to let his guard down but to me that seems to imply something like a friend sent(or lover...) but she resisted doing something which could have hurt him. Honestly i could just argue she only used the left over dough bc they were the first or last cookies if i wanted to bc the witch has been said to bake multiple cookies in batches together btw. Strawberry was baked in the same batch, for all we know she has some of the same dough as those 2 as well.

The fun thing about headcanons is we all have our own interpretations w/out telling others theirs was wrong. The sad thing about headcanons is ppl do not understand that. So, anon, I do not blame you if you didn't know about that as personally I didn't for a good while.

random writing prompt absolutely totally not based off of something terrible I just experienced: Jeremy and Christine stumble upon a song Rich wrote about someone in freshman year and they're trying to figure out who it's about. Who it's actually about is up to you (writing prompt for u bc u appear to like song lyrics)

finally starting to write this on a computer, also, don't look at your friends' stuff without their permission kids!

Christine and Jeremy were currently in their school's costume closet, organizing the costume's per request of Mr Reyes.

Jeremy was sorting through the accessory pile while Christine was looking through the racks of dusty jackets.

Even though Jeremy and Michael were a bit less codependent and had both found other friends in the 'squip squad' didn't mean Christine didn't get to hear Jeremy talk about him constantly.

"And I know that it wouldn't be that healthy if we, like, together or whatever because, ya know... we were kinda codependent but even though I know that, I still haven't gotten over my crush!" Jeremy was complaining as Christine was nodding sagely, having accepted her role as the go-to person for people to complain about crushes to.

As Jeremy continued his rambles Christine heard a note plunk from the the ancient piano that was backstage.

"Jeremy I love you dearly but shush," Christine said, standing up to see who was playing the piano as several more notes rang out.

Jeremy looked up towards Christine in confusion, right as they both heard a familiar voice sing,

"Apollo to my Icarus,

the feelings that I thought I'd miss,

they're all blocked out

they're all burned out

they're all pulling me way back down."

"Rich!" Christine gasped as she exited the costume to see their friend sitting at the piano bench and reading from a beat-up journal. Jeremy poked his head out from the giant closet, "Dude! That was literally so good!" He nearly shrieked.

Rich whipped his head towards them, eyes widening in surprise. "Oh, um, t-thank you!" He stuttered quickly standing up and closing the piano lid, forgetting his journal.

Jeremy and Christine turned to each other.

"So," Christine began.

"Rich can sing,"

"Really well," Jeremy nodded in agreement, they both turned to the still open journal in sync. "He left his journal here," Christine said.

"Yup,"

"And Rich is our friend,'' They continued, looking at Jeremy.

"He is,"

"So we shouldn't look at the journal to see the rest of the song," She finished. They looked at each other, the same thought running through their heads. Christine swiftly swiped the journal as if someone might pop up and yell at them for being bad friends.

The song was dated May 26th, 20XX, which meant during it was written when Rich was a freshman.

Christine and Jeremy shared a look.

"This is about Jake," Christine stated.

Jeremy nodded, "This means Rich had liked Jake while having the SQUIP,"

Christine eyes widened, "Oh, oh no,"

"Yeah,"

"That must've been horrible,"

"I had it for a couple of months and that was bad enough but two years! And while liking a boy..."

Christine shut the journal. "We're giving this back,"

"And tell him we appreciate and love him and buy him like a shit-ton of socks?" Jeremy asked closing and locking the costume door, even though they technically weren't finished.

"Absolutely," Christine agreed, marching out of backstage and to the nearby exit doors, Jeremy following close behind her.

Hi, love your blog, this became kinda long sorry 😅

I just wanted to say that maybe it’s just me but I’ve never really had hope for buddie to be confirmed in the first place. Like I do ship them and if they did become canon I would be very happily surprised but really it’s just never something I’ve entertained as a possibility because we just don’t get ships like this imo. There’s a few exceptions even if I can’t think about this right now but when a character’s introduced as straight or nothing has been said so usually assumed straight and then fandom ships them with an equally assumed straight person the show and networks and all that don’t want them together because they’re ‘normal straight people’.

Like in LS from the beginning TK’s introduced with a bf he wants to propose to, they don’t lose their ‘normal’ character (obvs it is normal to be whatever flavour of queer you are but idk how to word it better) since that was him from the start.

Also if it’s acknowledged that all the buddie moments were building up to a romantic relationship then it sheds light on other similar relationships in other shows or films that we were ridiculed for shipping when really it’s not so different. I really don’t know if I got my point across here and I’m sorry this got so long winded, maybe I’m just a cynic but I think my buddie dreams will have to be contented with fanfiction.

Btw I don’t mean this to be mean to you or anyone who does believe buddie will go canon in the show I just accidentally typed out this rant that was meant to be a short ask.

So, I fully agree with everything you said. I've mentioned before that there are almost no slow burns for mlm couples on TV. A part of that is that shows need to show they meet the diversity quota from the start. So we tend to get either pre-established same sex couples (like Henren), or quick burns, where we know from the start where this is going (like Mavid and Tarlos). Even if we have a character assumed straight that's gonna be discovered to be something else (gay or, more rarely, bi), that will be something we the audience will discover pretty early on. Shows don't like rocking the boat, they don't like threatening audiences' sense of security when it comes to sexual orientation. But there are exceptions! BIG round of applause to Black Sails for being the most brilliant about it with men, if we expand to women, I can also point to Callie Torres and Erica Hahn on Grey's Anatomy, who were both introduced as straight, became best friends and then slowly, realized they were into each other. Callie figured out she was bi, while Erica was hit by a realization she was always gay, she just didn't know she was because until she was with a woman, she couldn't tell something was missing in her r/s with men.

My point isn't to convince you, BTW! I think it is SUPER legit if you don't think Buddie is going canon. It is SUPER legit to think they are. It is SUPER legit to be confused, unsure, go back and forth or not give a damn. Wherever you're at, I support you, and I think your enjoyment in fandom is what matters! I also think you specifically have a slight advantage: if you don't need Buddie going canon and they do, then yay, right? But if they don't, you won't be disappointed. You'll be able to continue to enjoy the show and Buddie, same as before. It's a part of why I try not to get my expectations up, even though I do hope for canon!Buddie. 'Coz I wanna be able to enjoy their love story no matter what. Whatever Tim and Kristen do, Buddie is canon to me. And I don't want anyone taking that away from me. So while I tend to think 911 may have the balls to be one of the few exceptions, I'll be here even if it doesn't.

Sexuality Headcanon: bi but primarily into women (like I am the first person to be annoyed when people On Line act like the one universal experience of bisexuality is abt being into all women and like three men bc that's blatantly untrue for lots of people but I do think it's true for edelgard) Gender Headcanon: she's not one of the fe3h characters whom I'm just fully incapable of not reading as trans like her story still works for me if she's a cis woman but I am very very compelled by the idea of her as a trans woman. something abt her determination to take back her autonomy & ownership over her own body hits as a trans narrative Imo A ship I have with said character: many of them, since she has many women who are very sapphicly obsessed with her and also her goth bestie hubert who in some ways is also a woman who is sapphicly obsessed with her since hubert is 1) obsessed with her and 2) a trans woman to me. special shout outs also to dorothea, the opera singer who fantasizes abt playing the role of edelgard in an opera based on edelgard's life, and monica, who has perfect photographic memory which she uses for remembering everything edelgard has ever said to her and everything edelgard has ever done and also who is meant to be doing what chore A BROTP I have with said character: hubert tbh. like I know I included him as a ship option and I do enjoy them kissing but also the thing is that they are each other's best (and for a while only) friend, and for a long time the only person they each trust, and he has shaped his entire life around being someone who can kill & die for her and this is all endlessly compelling to me A NOTP I have with said character: swings bat at hornet's nest. byleth tbh. so. okay. a thing I don't love abt fe3h more generally is how unearned some characters' trust/fixation/reliance/etc on byleth feels to me personally. there are some characters who care a lot abt byleth in ways that make sense (leonie, who has a connection with byleth's father, or linhardt, who likes studying people's weird magic situations and oh boy does byleth have a weird magic situation, for example). but there are other characters who get introduced as untrusting/independent/etc who then begin to make major life choices because of byleth in a way that I find unconvincing and unsatisfying. and for me, edelgard is one of these characters A random headcanon: I think she used to play a musical instrument like violin or piano with her siblings, and she wasn't ever especially good but it was a fun thing to do together. and she doesn't remember that anymore (have I told u abt this part of her whole deal? anyway she used to have a bunch of siblings and they died and she doesn't have many memories of her childhood anymore due to. the horrors) but sometimes she still like. gets a song they used to play stuck in her head and doesn't know why it makes her so sad General Opinion over said character: I just think she's neat! interesting character, lots of potential for tasty tragedy, so many fun relationships with other characters, cool design

Sorry, this turned out way longer than I thought it would. (1750 words, just about)

Twarxii and Grievous’ first child was born in the late winter of 34 BBY. Dubbed Alīka by Grievous, she was an adorable little bundle of sunshine in an otherwise cold and miserable month. Her yellow scales were so bright, it hurt to look at her. Her personality seemed to reflect that sunniness, a sweet and inquisitive girl always hanging off the skirts of one mother or another. As soon as she could walk (which was early for a baby Kaleesh, aka a nightmare baby) she was always going somewhere. Life became a perpetual game of “make sure Alīka doesn’t wander out the door”.

Alīka grew up fast and she grew up big. Twarxii’s family has a propensity for making bigass children. Alīka’s uncle was none other than Bentilais san Sk’ar. You know, the lavender gargoyle the size of a mountain. Similarly, Alīka inherited those big girl genes from Twarxii. When all was said and done, Alīka was 10 feet tall and built like a goddamn space marine. As she grew, her daffodil-yellow scales dimmed and grew olive patterning, and she ended up less Cape Cobra and more particularly yellow Nile Crocodile.

When Alīka was 10, everything started going to hell in a handbasket. Sala’ma died at the fangs of a jungle cat. A year later, Grievous exploded and Uncle Sk’ar came out of the wreckage different. The moms were dwindling. Uncertainty and danger were creeping into the family like a pack of erkush. So Alīka did the only thing her eleven-year-old brain knew: she stepped up.

Dad just fucking Died. The Moms aren’t taking it well. Things are going to get worse. So she took her boundless energy and focused it on the family. If you needed help, Alīka was there ready to fix things. By the time a Mom heard about something, it had already gone through the filter of Alīka. Which meant it was something Alīka couldn't handle. Which was not great for her.

While her siblings became mechanical geniuses, proficient warriors, endlessly creative artists, and guerrilla saboteurs, Alīka became a jack of all trades. Master of none. She had a reputation for being smart, capable, strong, Alīka. Her need to help backfired spectacularly, and the worst part is she didn't even realize it. Ask Alīka for help. Go get Alīka. Where's Alīka, she can fix it.

Alīka became a study in the boiled frog principle. She was always going, helping, fixing, mending cracks, staunching the flow, being a shoulder to cry on. There weren't enough hours in the day for her. It was wake up, fix things, maybe eat something? Then crash for a few hours before it was dawn and the aseels needed feeding. Unlike with Ígira, there was no intervention when her mental health tanked. Things just got worse for her. Alīka was working her way into an early grave. Then, things changed.

In 14 BBY, when Alīka was 20, Bryaru announced that she was leaving Kalee to go fight those bastards who put Dad into a robot and made him fight wizards and vat-grown slaves. She'd be taking anyone who wanted to go. On the spur of the moment, Alīka said she'd go. This was met with a bit of confusion from the rest of the family. Alīka was many things, but an antifascist rebel wasn't one of them. And in truth, she wasn't really into it. She didn't harbor any feelings of vengeance for her father's pile of organs, nor did she have any strong ideals about freedom (beyond the standard Kaleesh "fuck you, you don't tell me what to do"). It was just... an escape. She felt like she was shackled to a slowly sinking ship, and here was Direct Action Mom offering her the key.

So Alīka became a rebel. It was strange, but Alīka was nothing if not adaptable. For the first few months, she got hilariously motion-sick every time she had to fly. But that passed, and she gradually got used to flying. In fact, she wasn't just an alright pilot, she was a damn good one. Something about streaking through the void or upper atmosphere in a razor-sharp wedge of a ship gave her a feeling of lightness her family never did. Maybe it was the zero-gravity.

Alīka left the Thrummer network after four years of serving with Direct Action Mom with her own tiny cell of rebels. They were pilots, all of them. They were known as the Talons of Lightning, a name borne from their habit of flying so fast and so erratically, their booster engines looked like bolts of lightning.

They were invaluable in the early days of the Rebellion. Their bright blue and yellow T-65 X-wing starfighters were often a joyous sight for downtrodden rebels and a continued annoyance for Imperial officers. The Talons of Lightning gradually filled out their ranks, operating as a mobile squadron of the best pilots of the Rebellion, helping out cells in need. Alīka would eventually become romantically involved with one of her fellow pilots, a female Twi'lek named Koyi'van.

Despite their success at disrupting Imperial efforts, the Talons of Lightning were not without their failures. They couldn't stay in one place for long, always on the move, lest the Empire catch up. The longest they ever stayed in one place was a year on a backwater, uninhabited swampy planet so far out of the way, it didn't even have a name. Alīka almost wanted to stay forever. But the Rebellion needed them, needed her. And it always came down to the fact that she was needed.

There were deaths. Deaths on missions, deaths outside of missions. Deaths from Imperials, from TIE fighter ion cannons, from thermal detonators, from dioxsis gas. From blaster bolts and vibroblades and whistling birds and even a lightsaber. More than once Alīka had to drag herself away from the deaths she left behind, unless she wanted to join them. The worst thing she ever heard, she was half a rim away and only heard about it six months after the fact. The Empire had snuffed out every single life on Oben in minutes, including her mother. Alīka nearly tore her astromech in half.

The Talons of Lightning moved to Kalee. Some were happy to be back, while others had never been. Alīka, for her credit, did her best to introduce the family to her crew. The remaining mothers were glad to see her, and many a tearful hug was exchanged. Her siblings gave her the classic sibling "sup" nod. Ígira tuned up her X-wing when she wasn't looking, took apart her astromech, and put him back together before she noticed. More important, Fyerri was there. The two siblings sized each other up. They both had new scars.

"So, I heard about Oben."

"Fuck, Alīka, that's the first thing you say to me?"

"What are you gonna do about it?"

"Sis, you changed."

"..."

"Kill that son of a bitch Sk'ar and put his skull right over the fucking hearth."

"That's what I wanted to hear."

The Talons of Lightning spent a few weeks on Kalee, showing off for the locals and eating a lot more than they were worth. Alīka introduced the family to Kovi'van, which got a lot of "Oooh, Alīka has a girlfrieeeeend". Alīka slipped into her old role as Alīka. Koyi'van had a moment of Damn bitch, you live like this? (worrying). When Fyerri struck out with the Storm Sirens, the Talons of Lightning went with them. The two groups spent a year together, butting heads sometimes, but always a devastating group as a whole. Eventually, Alīka gave Fyerri an oversized pat on the back with the orders to tell her when he found Sk'ar. Fyerri being Fyerri, he did not, and went and got himself killed by the violet menace.

Alīka really did tear her astromech in half after that one. She cried herself to sleep that night. It was her worst nightmare come true, time after time. She could have helped, but she didn't, and people died. Her family died. Despite the fact that Fyerri expressly did not tell her, despite the fact that nobody could have predicted the violence of Grand Admiral Thrawn, despite the fact that she was 10 years old and absolutely no match for a piinyur.

The Talons of Lightning followed their leader. And when Alīka decided that she'd finally land a blow that the Empire couldn't ignore, they agreed. For too long, they'd danced on the edge of the Empire, hindering but doing no lasting damage. So they set a new target in their sights: an Imperial weapons facility on Irkuum that was developing a hypermatter reactor. The same principle would be later used to construct the turbolaser on the Death Star.

The Talons of Lightning went in hard and fast, like always. The Imperial research facility was lightly manned by heavily defended. TIE fighters were scrambled to meet them. Shield generators went up but too late, they were already inside the perimeter. It was roughly 40 rebels versus a base's worth of TIE fighters, plus ground-based blaster turrets. The rebels were outmanned, outgunned, and trapped by the shield generator. It was quickly becoming a bloodbath.

And in the chaos, few noticed the bright yellow lizard woman covered in explosives heading straight for the reactor. Those that did were silenced with extreme prejudice. When they got to the reactor, it was simple enough to rig the entire thing to blow. Alīka and Koyi'van exchanged a kiss before the doors blew inward. Alīka dived in front of Kovi'van. A platoon of stormtroopers streamed inward, blasters at the ready. The room was deafening with the sound of blasters firing. When the smoke cleared, Alīka was more burn than flesh, but she was still breathing. Kovi'van had taken a shot to the thigh. The steady hiss of the blasters cooling hushed to silence and the blasters came up again. With a howl of primal rage, Alīka cleared 30 feet in a second. Her left eye was missing. She had most of one hand and none of the other. You could see clear through her thigh. And she still gave the Imps a run for their money. Blaster bolts were passing through her like they were tickles from butterflies. A portion of her skull went flying. Her jaw was hanging by one side. Her chest was a smoking ruin.

She stumbled.

She fell.

...

She reached for Koyi'van. Everything went white as the reactor blew.

“He’s weak” - dude straight up kill Brutus. And I don’t think it’s mentioned in the books but I always imagined him killing him with his bare hands. But that’s beside that’s point. HE KILLED BRUTUS. And fought and injured Kato when he was drugged up on tracker hacker venom!!!

But perhaps your friend meant emotionally weak in which case I’d say that’s some patriarchal bullshit. Men can cry. Men can be hopeless romantics. Hell, men can bake! One of the qualities I LOVE about Katniss and Peeta is the way they are BOTH gender nonconforming. Like everyone praises Katniss for being strong and having these masculine traits (and ignores all her feminine traits) and shames Peeta for his feminine traits (and ignores his masculine traits). That’s some patriarchal bullshit right there.

“He’s a stalker” - he was too shy to even approach Katniss for like 10 years? That’s so cute. But that doesn’t make him a stalker. He also says he noticed lots of girls so I don’t see him as being this creepy desperate guy who follows Katniss home bc he’s obsessed with her. Like he probably had a girlfriend or two. And then after the first games he gives her the cold shoulder for months. Not stalkery. My last argument here is whatever he did stalking or otherwise he never made Katniss feel uncomfortable like that. Like whatever he did it worked lmao he got the girl in the end!!!! Lol

Also if she doesn’t want to read the novels maybe stress the non-romantic parts? Like the killing and overthrowing the government? Unless you’ve tried that in which case sorry there’s probably no hope lol. But it sounds like this person isn’t very interested in shipping? There’s a lot to get out of the books besides loving peeta to death. If she hates him talk about haymitch and finnick and Johanna there are plenty of fleshed out characters she might gravitate to. But she’s already watched the movies so she might not get as much out of it as someone going in cold so idk.
