Crosshair’s Redemption
I posted this here in response to an earlier post, but also thought this should just live on its own on my blog, so apologies if you’ve seen it twice. Essentially, here are some thoughts about whether Crosshair should be held accountable for his actions with the Empire. Spoilers for The Bad Batch Season 2.
I’ll start by saying that Crosshair is already holding himself accountable, even if he’s not calling it that. When people say they want redemption for Crosshair, often, from what I’ve seen, they either implicitly or explicitly want him specifically to suffer in some way and many don’t seem to realize that he is already suffering.  They seem to think he deserves that suffering and then some.  In some cases, they flat out want him dead and think that is the only way for him to “pay” and be redeemed.  I won’t even pretend I’m not projecting when I say that as a cult survivor, that hurts me to my core because I relate to him so much and I suppose I’m at the point in all this when I can talk more about what it’s like to be in a cult and why people do what they do.  (If you want to hear what it’s like growing up in a doomsday cult, I’ve been interviewed for two podcasts and can direct you there and my DMs are open.)
No, I didn’t murder anyone, so you might think Crosshair has done worse than I have.  I’m not here to argue about that, but in some ways I think helping to destroy someone’s life or sense of self without killing them can be just as bad, no? I definitely hurt people, even if I didn’t kill them. I hurt them deeply, just as I was hurt, but is that an excuse? No. But also, I was under the influence of many layers of authority in my cult.  Did they put a gun to my head and “make” me do hurtful things? No, but they also constructed the situation so that it very much felt like life or death.  I did what I had to do to survive.  Does that mean I’m not accountable? Also no.  Amazingly, it’s complicated.  I’ve certainly paid for my time in the cult even though I was born into it.  No one else showed up and passed down a punishment, but figuring out how to grieve, make right, help others, and build a life while thoroughly traumatized was pretty damn punishing.
How is my survival in a cult any different than Crosshair trying to survive? Different than Crosshair telling Hunter there is a place for all of them in the Empire? Any different than Crosshair saying he made his choice and the clones that matter will be just fine?  Crosshair may try to play it cool and seem unaffected, but this man is doing what he feels he needs to do in order to survive in circumstances that are not of his choosing.
I think by The Outpost it becomes very clear that Crosshair is changing, even though we see glimpses earlier.  He was literally pushed to the point where he thought his life would end for killing Nolan.  You can argue that he didn’t know for sure if his life would be over, but when he killed that asshole, he could have been shot where he was and he knew it.  He knew by that point that the Empire did not care about him at all and he still pulled the trigger.
Crosshair started holding himself accountable the moment he started making different decisions.  The moment he went from playing along to survive to actively going against the Empire was when he started holding himself accountable.
We should also talk about the chip that was (is?) in his head.  He was very much being controlled at least at the beginning of season 1.  We know that the clones acted the way they did during Order 66 because of the chips.  Should he still be held responsible for what he did under the influence of the chip?  Then what about Cody and Bly and Wolffe and every other clone who killed or tried to kill the Jedi?  Like where do we draw the line?  Is it even our job to draw the line?  Is it the job of the Rebellion to draw the line? I don’t think it is.  I think it’s fine for the Rebellion to say, “if you don’t see what you did as a problem, then we don’t want to work with you,” but I don’t think they should get a firing squad or pass down a punishment.  In Rebels, did the Rebellion not want to work with Rex, Gregor, or Wolffe? Kanan had feelings about it, sure, but ultimately no one made them atone for being clones under the influence of a chip.
It’s always interesting to me that people talk about Crosshair atoning, but not Vader or Sidious or Kylo Ren or any number of lower level cult leaders like Rampart.  Maybe it’s because we already know what will happen to Vader, Kylo, and Sidious.  Maybe it’s because they die and we figure that has to cover all their transgressions, but we don’t know how Crosshair’s story will end and people want to make sure there’s some “justice.”
Throughout season 2, although there’s not a ton of Crosshair shown, we see he’s really miserable. He’s not sleeping, he’s not eating, he was left on the platform for 32 rotations.  He looks like hell and he feels like hell.  He is so expressive and it’s clear he’s miserable by the look on his face.  Isn’t he already paying for his bounded choice? Being in a cult is already awful, it’s really traumatizing, but people seem to love to pile on more guilt and then blame cult members like if they just weren’t so stupid none of this would have happened.  Ultimately, the only people in cults who are irredeemable are the upper cult leaders.  Sidious does not care about anyone but himself. He can’t be redeemed.  Everyone else though?  There’s hope for them.  Don’t we want a better world where people can learn from their mistakes and help others?  Where growing and bettering oneself is an ongoing process that lasts a life time?  How many awful things need to happen to Crosshair before people will say “okay you ticked enough boxes, I forgive you now”? He is a complicated man, but he has empathy and he loves and cares for his family.  Again this doesn’t mean he gets off without paying for what he’s done, but also, he’s already paying for his choices by living in a version of hell.  Being in a cult is terrible and soul-crushing for everyone but the top cult leader.
I also would be remiss if I didn’t mention how Crosshair spent the end of season 2 strapped to a table, able to fight drugs in his system to get far enough to warn his siblings that the Empire is after Omega.  While the full message didn’t get out, he did his utmost to warn them.  He didn’t try to run for himself. He tried to save his family. If that isn’t Crosshair trying to do better and holding himself accountable then I don’t know what is.
Ultimately, I think when people want someone to hold Crosshair accountable, they are missing a part of his humanity and they assume he must want all that has happened.  It’s like they think someone must dish out justice because surely he doesn’t realize how badly he screwed up, but Crosshair knows he messed up and now he has to reckon with it.  Assigning the Rebellion or some person or group the job of holding him accountable only furthers the us versus them that cults instill into their members. It will only push him away further.  Do you want to know what happened between me and the people who felt I needed to be held accountable for my time in a cult (that I was born into, just like the clones)?  I never spoke to them again and I had one less person offering support as I tried to build some semblance of a life.  The few threads of connection that I had were ultimately severed because they felt I hadn’t gone through enough.
Let Crosshair go on this journey.  Let him try to do what is right, because he’s well on his way.  Let him grieve for all that has happened and all he’s done.  Because I promise, he’s grieving.  He’s lonely and guilting himself to his core.  It’s written all over his face.

Hi ! Hope you're doing well ❤️
Just here for another request if you don't mind ☺️ I was wondering how the members of the Bad Batch would help/comfort the reader who's really stressed because of school (like a lot of projects to turn in and reader is stressed because they don't have motivation to work but know they have to) ?
Let's say I'm a bit in that situation right now (have a lot of work to do but no motivation even though I don't have much time to finish them) and I just need some comfort from the boys 🥺 have a good day/night ❤️
I'm so sorry to hear you're having a rough go with school 🥺🫂 I know it's hard! You've got this, love!!
How the Bad Batch would help you during struggles in school...
Hunter
He would know quicker than anyone that something is troubling you (enhanced senses and all)
When you tell him you're struggling with your schoolwork and just are lacking motivation, he asks if there's anything he can do to help
If you say yes, he'll do whatever you ask to the best of his ability
If you say no/you don't know, he'll go ahead and still offer words of encouragement as well as offer suggestions as to how to keep you motivated
"You've got this, trooper. I understand this is hard for you, but I believe in you. You'll get through this, I know it."
Echo
He'll bring you water and food to help keep your energy up when you tell him you're tired, but need to keep working on your project
If it's anything involving mechanics, he considers himself a bit of an expert in that field and would be glad to help if he can
He offers to stay with you and help keep you on task
He's good about keeping your morale up when you start to give up and encourages you to keep going
"I know you can do this. You're smart and hardworking. This project won't get the better of you because you're the best. Keep going!"
Tech
Of course, being the exceptionally-minded one, he's quick to come sit with you and offer whatever knowledge you require for your work
He tells you that taking breaks throughout your work is beneficial for your health so you don't experience burnout
He'll gladly offer assistance in making sure you're doing your assignments correctly
Not only that, but if he sees you've made any errors, instead of telling you "you're wrong", he'll explain how to find the correct answer and guide you so you can figure it out on your own
"If you give up now, you will surely fail, and failure is not in our nature. I shall endeavor to ensure you succeed, no matter what it takes."
Wrecker
He might not really know what it is you're working on, but he's willing to still do whatever he can think of to cheer you up
Lula suddenly ends up next to you and he informs you she's a good study buddy
Pats on the back and playful arm nudges are a must from him to let you know how well you're doing
If you happen to be studying anything about weapons or explosives, he'll get excited and offer to help you, as well...otherwise, he'll just direct you to Tech
"Studying and projects were hard for me, too. You're not alone. But don't worry, everyone moves at their own pace and you'll get to the end in no time!"
Crosshair
At first, he wonders why you're making such a fuss over doing work, but when he sees how tired and miserable you are, he has a change in demeanor
He'll sit beside you and ask, a bit calmer, what’s troubling you about your project
He's more of a tough love kind of guy; he'll tell you that moping around and not feeling motivated will get you nowhere
If it looks like you're faltering, he'll give you a nudge in the arm and make sure you keep at it
"I'm not going to let you give up because I know you're above this silly project. You're going to do great things...and I'm going to be there when you do."
I could've used these guys when I was in school, dang it!! 😆

So let me spiral into my Bad Batch feels in this site as well with a bit (okay, it's not a bit, it turned out longer than intended oof) of a headcanon or idk, just ramblings in general...
Once Tech inevitably figures out where the Empire is holding Crosshair and their other fellow clones, Echo is the one to persuade Hunter to take up the mission. Yes, it's risky. But they are more than just soldiers. They're brothers.
Let me start with Omega. She's always known about the inhibitor chips even before everyone else did. And she knew that Crosshair was heavily affected by it. Then, even as Crosshair clarifies it that it was his choice, she still doesn't blame him and remains optimistic that he will eventually be part of their little family again.
Next, with Wrecker. His vibrant energy so much like Omega's, but he actually spent so much time with Crosshair. Again, I have to bring up some observations with my Bad Batch s1 and TCW Bad Batch rewatches. Wrecker and Crosshair had a lot of banter. Wrecker with childish humor, and Crosshair with his deadpan seriousness. But even then, I really sense how much they enjoyed each other's company in their own ways, so the idea that Crosshair is out there and might be in trouble, to Wrecker, it doesn't matter much what terrible past he had done. He just missed his friend, his brother.
Over the course of s2, large in part with the help of Omega, Tech's ability to understand and express his emotions have improved a great deal. That convo between him and her really put things into perspective for Tech, and when he met the crew to discuss that decrypted data for Echo, he carries this air of vulnerability to him now. He's allowing himself that in his own way. There's this strong sense of him being concerned for his brother in his own way that he may have actually looked up his number in the Empire's records just to make sure Crosshair was safe. And he wasn't.
Echo would feel very responsible to do whatever he can to make sure Crosshair and the rest of his brothers are safe and not experimented on. He knows the kind of shit that feels like and no matter if he is on the losing battle, as long as he does his very best to make sure everyone else is okay, that's more than good enough for him.
Then you have Hunter, whose hesitation to believe Crosshair's signal is rooted in protectiveness toward the crew, but also because he blames himself. In s1, he specifically mentions to Omega that he's not angry at Crosshair, he's angry at himself. Even when s1 ends and Crosshair makes it clear he's choosing the Empire, those self blaming feelings aren't something he can just shake off. He's their team leader, he feels responsible, and even though he probably wants to have the hope that he can get his brother to reunite with the crew, there's just so much risk and he can't afford to lose any more of his family.
Last but certainly not the least, we got our batcher in trouble, Crosshair. He carries so much pain in him, thinking that they abandoned him when he chose to side with the Empire. That's what they were supposed to do, right? And do it together. But as it turns out, the Empire didn't care for him. So now he's fighting back in his own way. There's a lot of guilt here too, he's not just suffering physical pain from the torture by Hemlock and co, his solitude is heavily highlighted. Right now, he thinks he has no one anymore. Not even the Bad Batch. So when he figures out what Hemlock wants, he didn't even try to escape the prison, to escape his pain. Not really. He doesn't feel deserving or worthy anymore because of his choices. Despite that, he still believed in his crew and chose to protect them, even Omega, whom in some ways he may have felt jealous in earlier parts of the show, for taking his place as a member of the team. Crosshair chose to carry all the pain. He may not have hope for himself anymore, but his family- they still have hope and he gave the little of what's left in him to them.
Next week is gonna be such an emotional rollercoaster ride, I am both soooo excited and soooo terrified...

I would love to hear some of your Tech thoughts for the Character Ask thingie.
Hello my friend! Thanks for asking about our precious baby boy Tech. Season 2 made me fall in love with Tech so much and I don’t need to elaborate on how hard the finale hit me. Tech has helped me understand some aspects of myself better, appreciate/hold better space for the differences in other people that I know, and is just a beautiful representation of neurodivergence onscreen that I am so glad we have.
Tech
one aspect about them i love - Yeah so I can’t narrow it down to just one, but I’m going to go with: his love for his family, his snarky sarcasm (aka telling it like it is), and his humility. Humility might sound like a strange word choice for a man who knows how brilliant he is and how unique his abilities are, but one of his key strengths is not only being able to calculate the odds of almost any situation around him, but also knowing when he can’t, or doesn’t have enough information/data to calculate a probable outcome. Many people with way less brilliance than him would make even an educated guess or try to sound like they know what they’re talking about all the time, but Tech is so confident in his abilities that he has no problem acknowledging when he is hitting up on the limits of his understanding.
one aspect i wish more people understood about them - I think we all understand this in this corner of tumblr, but I continue to see people in other spaces think that he is rude or awkward or just “smart and nerdy.” There’s a huge difference between being rude or smart, and processing everything about the world in a different manner than the average person, which we know as being neurodivergent. For a sci-fi/fantasy show, all of the Batchers’ “enhancements” could have been presented only as positives, as extra capabilities that regular people don’t have, that make them all “special” and incredible soldiers. But thankfully, they chose to make them complex and very human, by showing the difficult and sometimes unpleasant ramifications of those very enhancements. For Tech, his way of processing things leads to very blunt, direct communication, difficulty in knowing how to handle raw emotions in real time (both his own and others), and a tendency to forget that other people haven’t figured out the same things about a situation that he has. The resulting disconnect, hurt feelings, and difficult conversations in his relationships isn’t intentional but is something he has to navigate on a daily basis. That said, similar to Crosshair, his actions speak loudest, and his intense love for his family is always evident in the ways he is willing to do anything for them without hesitation.
one (or more) headcanon(s) i have about this character - he is so an iPad kid. I wonder when he built his first datapad, if he tried to hack any of the Kaminoans’ systems, if he has always had his corner of their room strewn with wires and abandoned projects and research materials. How many times did Hunter have to tear it out of his hand to get him to finish a meal in the cafeteria, or hide it so that he would get some sleep. I also wonder if he’s ever been awake at night while Echo was having a nightmare (building off the headcanons I’ve seen that Echo sometimes mutters binary code as he has nightmares from Skako Minor) and translated the code even without meaning to. He would never share what it means though out of respect for Echo.
one character i love seeing them interact with - Omega. It may have taken more time for him to warm up to her, but even early in season 1, Tech is always ready to catch her as she jumps down from any height, holds his hands out to her if she needs to steady herself, and often puts his hand on her shoulder unbidden. For a man who seems to be uncomfortable with physical touch and doesn’t typically initiate it, this melts my heart every time I see it. And of course their growing bond in season 2 and their conversation in The Crossing where they finally begin to understand each other’s needs and how to communicate better is one of the best moments in Star Wars, period, for me. “I may process moments and thoughts differently than you, but I do not feel any less” makes me tear up every time I hear it. And that the understanding goes both ways, and both of them make an effort to interact with the “language” that the other person is most comfortable with. Huge character growth. I also love how Tech loves imparting his wisdom and knowledge to her and Omega loves learning it. They’re just such a great duo.
one character i wish they would interact with/interact with more - I so desperately want to see him and Crosshair together again. “Just because I understand you does not mean I agree with you.” What would their conversations look like after Crosshair is rescued? How would Tech’s difficulty with emotional complexity, and Crosshair’s layers of hurt after trauma, brush up against each other as they tried to rebuild their relationship? Would Tech’s joy at having him back give Crosshair space to open up? Would Tech let him know that he’s forgiven him and despite his confusion and hurt, he is ready to move forward together? Could Tech’s ability to busy himself with a task at hand and requesting Crosshair’s help give them some time and space together where words aren’t needed to heal? I also honestly want to see Tech and Phee together again. I would love to know where their relationship could have gone, and what kind of conversation/apology/mutual understanding they might come to after the way they parted.
one (or more) headcanon(s) i have that involve them and one other character - I bet that Tech was teased and bullied a lot by the regs (and probably experimented on by the Kaminoans along with his brothers) as a cadet. I think that all of the boys would defend him but that especially Hunter would take note of his particular needs, hand him back his goggles if he had been roughed up by someone, and in general look out for him/take care of him and protect him. (I think Crosshair did this too). I can just see Hunter ruffling his hair and helping him calm down after a panic attack or becoming frustrated over something.

Today was... a day. A very long, agonizing day. Started with driving to another town to visit my GP. Talked to him about wanting to try and figure out if I DO have ADD or not and also about a new sleep med since my sleep schedule is fucked.
Because that vertebra in my neck was out and I couldn't pull my head back so it was forcing my head forward in a weird posture this caused all the supporting muscles to start spasming so the pain just escalated from there. But because I was driving I couldn't take any kind of muscle relaxer. So by the time I got to my chiropractor and they put me on the table face down, it shoved my head back into a regular alignment which then caused all those muscles to go into a nuclear meltdown. I don't think the chick who was checking me in quite understood how much pain I was in but by the time she'd gotten to the massager I was fucking CRYING from her pushing my shoulders down with her body weight and it just fucking sucked big donkey balls.
My chiropractor came in and suggested I do combo therapy cause there was no way she was going to adjust me when my muscles were that tight and spasmodic. That's an extra 25 bucks which...sucks but at point I was trying to not bawl like a child in the office and it did definitely help a lot. I have a TENS unit but that ultrasound machine is like a new level. I've seen them online for a couple hundred bucks and if I didn't live alone and had someone who could help me reach my back I might seriously consider buying one but for now I'll make due with my TENS unit.
Thankfully, my chiropractor was able to adjust my neck but fuck me I am still so sore and in so much pain, it's not even funny. I am SO GLAD I requested the entire day off because of my doctor's appointment, I don't think I could have worked even after getting adjusted. Tomorrow is my regular day off and I really need to just suck it up and make up the hours but NGL? I'm still super sore and in a lot of pain so I don't know if that's going to happen. I think I'm going to work half a day and see how I feel then. I could always make up the other 4 hours on Sunday.
I'd prolly fucked up my sleep schedule even further because I came home around 4 and slept for four hours. But I was just so wiped out from the pain and the lack of sleep last night.
I caught this week's episode of Mandalorian however and I need to watch the Bad Batch because people are freaking out over Crosshair on twitter so I think I'm going to do that. I'd like to write a little more but that might be too optimistic on my part.
I deal with chronic pain all the time but holy fuckballs I don't think I've screwed up my neck that badly in years. I couldn't think clearly, couldn't <I>talk</I> because my mind kept blanking on words and I know I was a fucking zombie all day long. Bruh, that fucked me all up.
And I think it kinda concerned my doctor because he wants to see me again in 2 weeks. :/ We did switch my muscle relaxer to zanaflex which I have been on in the past so I guess we'll see how that goes. I haven't picked it up from the pharmacy yet and will try and do that tomorrow.
One good thing that happened was I found out the Game Stop in seguin has the Tobirama funko pop I was wanting and I bought that. Annnnd I might have bought the bad batch set cause it was on clearance as well. I thought about getting the Hashirama but meeeh. I don't like him nearly as much as Tobirama. My three Naruto blorbo were Tobirama, Shisui and Iruka. I might actually perish if Shisui got some love from the US market. There's some REALLY gorgeous and outrageously expensive status out of Japan which I'm not spending my money on. Though NGL I am honestly shocked and disappointed Iruka hasn't gotten his own funko pop yet. Like WTF, I know he's just the most mid ninja ever who is completely overshadowed by everyone else with their stupidly overpowered abilities but STILL. SMH
Okay, time to watch TBB and pass the fuck out time now.

Forest Everless - TBB Hunter one shot
Tumblr media
Okay sooo @jedipoodoo ingrained the idea of cottagecore/lumberjack Hunter in my brain and I haven’t been thinking straight since. SO… Because I’m swamped with WIPs and won’t be able to make a full on multipart fic about this in the very near future, I’ve whipped up this little one shot. This might become something bigger in the future though I can’t say for certain now.
This is by all means an AU happening in an Earth-like ambience with terrestrial creatures, featuring one of my OCs, and I hope you’ll all like it. Enjoy uwu I wrote this listening to the song Lake Everless by Vindsvept in case you want to give it a listen!
Rating: Gen, nothing intense for this blurb.
AO3 link
Word count: 2k
Pairing: Hunter x Original Female Character (Sarah Adhara)
Summary: Hunter seeks peace in the forest surrounding his house when his mind is clouded with burdens of his past.
Tags/warnings: mentions of war, allusions to PTSD, insomnia, and nightmares. Some angst followed by comfort, a bit of romance and kissing.
Tumblr media
The damp soil sank whenever Hunter stepped on it. His pacing was slow; it could not–would not–be hurried by anyone or anything. He liked it that way. The need to get everywhere quickly, unseen, day after day, had brought upon him a restlessness he was only just beginning to recover from.
Hunter liked to take his time when he strode through the woods. He’d finally found a place to settle down, a place no war could tarnish, where the air had no residue of machine exhaust and the only background noises were the birds and the trees swaying. It was high autumn that chilly evening, his favorite season of the year. The cool weather allowed him to wear his preferred clothes: flannel shirts and thick brown pants. The cold air felt like it cleaned him inside when he breathed it in–the whole notion of cleansing was one he’d gotten from Sarah, something very important to her in her magic, but even a man like Hunter could make some sort of sense of it. He’d learned to, and he’d come to love it as well.
With his eyes trailed forward, Hunter could hear the rodents that ran not far away from him. He could make out the moss and fungi growing on nearby tree barks; in the distance, he even saw a great gray owl. He chuckled softly to himself thinking how Sarah would have lost it if she saw that owl. She loved owls with all her heart.
His smile faded when his respite seemed to be over. Walking like that often brought him peace, but Hunter couldn’t help but feel he was missing the presence of his brothers. No matter how much time went by, he’d still need Tech talking endlessly to him. Hunter never cared much for technicalities, he merely wanted to hear his brother speak to him. It calmed him. That would be contrasted by Wrecker’s never-ending enthusiasm, his bright ideas that could never be matched by anyone. Nobody could ever have Wrecker’s spirit. He did have a match in Echo, though, who in any case could neutralize Wrecker’s energy, keep it focused. Hunter knew he shouldn’t feel pain when thinking of them, after all, they were happy.
Crosshair was happy too, as Hunter told himself, if happiness was even an emotion Cross could feel. Hunter’s heart ached. In the old days, he’d say that to his youngest brother to tease, and it pained him to think those words in a more serious tone. If Crosshair truly wasn’t happy, how could Hunter forgive himself for letting him go?
Thud! Hunter dropped his leather bag of tools on the ground as soon as he arrived at his current working site. Not very far to the west were the sprouts of spruce he’d replanted just the day before. It was still early morning, and Hunter figured he had some time to use for his own leisure. That site was hoisted atop a cliff above a river between the mountains, a place that gave him one of the most wonderful views he’d ever seen.
He stood beside one of the trees, with his gloved hand on the damp bark, as he looked out at the view. The low clouds still lingered between the spruce trees; he could only make out a few treetops in his sight. Hunter had fallen in love with that kind of morning where it was cold, gray, even lonely. He always saved the warmth for when he returned to the cottage.
Thinking of his cottage, Hunter turned around and looked in the direction he came from. Sarah would be waking up right about now, feeling the cool side of the bed Hunter had left. Just as she’d be sitting up, processing the fact he was gone, at least three of the five dogs they’d adopted would hop onto the bed, happy to finally see her awake. The tabby cat Sarah had insisted on keeping would look down on the dogs, waiting for them to be finished pestering his human, until at last it would hop down from its preferred scratch to rub its head on her palm and purr the morning away. The cat would do that nearly every morning, but he’d exaggerate it if Hunter was around to assert its dominance–Hunter was never a cat person, and it showed in the way he got along with Sarah’s tabby.
The images in his head made him long for his home; Hunter decided he’d try to work quickly that morning. With resolve, Hunter took out his ax from the pack. He slung it over his shoulder and headed to the pile of logs he’d left the day before to take one and set it vertically over a large rock. Hunter took his stance in front of the rock and readied his ax to give it a precise swing, slicing the log straight down the middle.
He merely wished he could feel some of the weight leave his shoulders with every movement. It helped that not every log would be cut perfectly in half; years of being treated as an elite soldier made him appreciate the normality and simplicity of his new life. Log after log, Hunter’s mind drifted a bit further.
When he cut the first log, Hunter relived his first mission. For the second one, he saw the dark nights in Tipoca City. Then, he could have sworn he heard the hard clap of thunder beside him, but that was yet another trick of his mind. He kept seeing flashbacks with every movement of his ax, releasing the tension every time he struck a log, grunting it out of his system. Every time, he only felt he grew more restless. He was stuck, spiraling along his own cycle of thoughts and memories.
He put the ax down. Hunter never liked to work with a heavy mind, but he’d noticed the need for that sort of pause had become far more frequent. He sighed and rubbed a hand down his face to release the tension in his muscles, and before finishing rubbing his eyes, he heard the cracking of a branch nearby and darted his eyes open.
Hunter sighed in relief when he saw its orange fur and big eyes looking at him. That fox had gone to visit him many times before, sometimes even following him all the way back to the cottage in search of food. Hunter smiled serenely at the fox and went to pick his ax up to continue the job, soothed by the fox’s presence.
“I ought to think of a name for you,” Hunter said.
The fox sat. Its gaze was fixed on Hunter, both peaceful and expectant, following every one of his movements with the tilting of its head. Hunter let out a soft laugh.
“I don’t have any food on me, little one,” he said. “But I should thank you. You broke me out of some nasty thoughts there.”
As if understanding what Hunter was saying, the fox straightened and stood. It appeared as if the fox wanted to approach Hunter, but he noticed the fox looked past him. Its eyes briefly landed on something. Hunter looked over his shoulder and saw her short figure emerge from within the trees. Gods, she was breathtaking even in her effortless morning glow. Her hair was wavy from the braids she’d slept in, she wore one of Hunter’s sweaters that was enormous on her, but its light brown color made her look beautiful in the forest green hues. She wore her favorite boots, the warmer ones that always made her feel cozy.
As Sarah began to walk forward, the fox ran back off into the trees, leaving her visibly disappointed.
“I probably smell like cat,” she said.
Hunter smiled softly at her and dropped the ax. He walked towards his lover and took notice of the mug she held in her hands, a large brown one covered by a cream-colored tea towel secured with a string of light purple yarn, and he lingered on it before his eyes met hers.
“I brought you something,” Sarah spoke up again.
“My darling,” Hunter said softly, touched by the gesture, yet still concerned. “I’ve told you many times not to–”
“Not to be alone out in the forest?” She finished for him with a glint of mischief. “Who started it?”
Hunter chuckled. He’d never stop trying to protect that woman even if he wasn’t always consistent with his words and actions. Sarah then interrupted his thoughts by holding out the cup to him.
“It’s your favorite,” she told him.
Hunter picked up the scent of the warm beverage in her hands. He recognized the milk based lavender tea with a dash of honey, definitely one of his favorite things of life itself, and Sarah always gave a magical touch to it.
“It’s too early for lavender,” Hunter smiled in his usual manner.
“But you need to relax,” Sarah replied. Her concern was genuine, she could tell whenever Hunter was feeling tense.
He wouldn’t deny how well Sarah knew him. At a loss for words, Hunter took the mug and set it down on the rock he was working on and turned back to Sarah. His arms wrapped around her waist and embraced her figure to his before he bent down and kissed her. The kiss was as soft as the clouds among the treetops; it was loving and careful, fearful of ever letting go, grateful of her presence. Hunter’s palm delicately stroked Sarah’s cheek as they kissed, and in that forest, there was nothing sweeter or more innocent than their gentle kiss.
Sarah felt the emotion in his kiss. Hunter parted ever so slightly from her lips, gazing into her unique eyes with that raw love only he could ever show.
“I love you,” he whispered into the forest without even giving it a thought.
Sarah smiled at him. “You know I love you too.”
Hunter smiled with his exhale and couldn’t help but tighten his arms around her again and kiss her. Firmly, he held her waist and picked her up off her feet, adding more of his usual fire to the kiss. His passion for her was endless, but so was his gratitude for all she’d done for him, for merely staying with him.
After all that had happened, a deeply hidden part of Hunter still couldn’t believe she had chosen to stay with him.
When he set her back down, he looked lovingly into her eyes. She smiled as she took in his features: the deep brown of his eyes, the expression lines, the tips of hair on his beard beginning to announce themselves. Her cheeks reddened, unable to hide how much she thought he was the most beautiful man to ever walk the universe, but her euphoria faded into a more sincere, caring love.
“How long will you be out here today?” She asked him.
Hunter sighed softly. “The usual. Okay, love?”
She nodded softly and felt as Hunter’s hand on her tightened, bringing her eyes to look directly in his.
“Though…” he began. “I was kind of hoping you’d stay this time.”
Sarah smiled. “I’ll stay every time if you want me to.”
And that was why he loved her so damn much. She was always there, she always came through for him, and she always loved him so dearly. Hunter felt himself filled with that tenderness only she could give him, and he kissed her lips softly only to end up kissing all of her features. Her nose, her eyes, her rosy cheekbones, and then her lips again. The giggle she let out was musical, magical even.
“But you have to drink your tea,” she ordered. “I didn’t make it to go to waste.”
Hunter chuckled. “Yes, ma’am.”
He unwrapped his arms from her, confident she’d remain there with him, and he reached to take a sip from the mug while Sarah took a seat on a nearby tree stump. Before he took his ax again to continue the day’s work, Hunter looked past Sarah over at the view he was admiring before that.
The cold autumn morning was indeed brighter and more beautiful now than ever.

(The Bad Batch) Crosshair x Reader: Comfort Zone
(Author’s Note:  It was requested I do a hurt/comfort fic with Crosshair, and I happened to have a shelved project very similar, so this request was my motivation to get it done!  Thank you, @leia-saveourskins!
Enjoy!)
Crosshair wasn’t quite sure what to do when he heard your cries on the other side of the door.  He had only been walking past to head to his quarters when the unfamiliar sound caught his attention, realizing only after a short pause what it was.  His first instinct was to avoid, to pretend he hadn’t heard it in the first place.  Crosshair didn’t consider himself an expert on dealing with that sort of thing anyway.  He didn’t know how to comfort someone other than with a subtle nod or resting his hand on their shoulder.  That’s how he managed to get by when it came to the rest of the squad.  With you, it wasn’t the same.
Hunter was better with that sort of thing, Crosshair thought.  Or Wrecker.  Even Tech would be a more recommended person to comfort you.  The only issue was the three of them had left the ship a while ago for supplies in a nearby village.  There was a chance that they wouldn’t be back yet for some time.  Plus, part of him didn’t want it to be any of them in the end.  He wanted to be the one even if he had no idea how.
Crosshair groaned, rolling his eyes to no one in particular.  Before he knew it, he was knocking swiftly on your door.  The crying ceased on the other side.  Silence fell over the space until he cleared his throat.
“_________?” he grunted through the door, pausing to listen.  “Are you in there?”
Of course he knew you were in there.  He figured he’d give you the opportunity to stay quiet if you chose and endure whatever it was on your own.  For a moment, he thought you were going to take advantage of the opportunity, and he’d be on his way.  However, that changed when your voice croaked on the other side.
   “Cross?  Do you need something?”
His shoulders sank as he exhaled.  Part of him melted a little at the thought of you offering your help even though you clearly weren’t okay.  That was just the sort of person you were.  Not to mention you used his nickname.
“No,” he replied.  Several seconds passed in silence as he waited for you to say something else, but it occurred to him that there was no reason for you to.  After all, he had been the one to knock on your door.  Before he could find the words, the door slid open.  You stood there and looked at him with signs of your hurt written on your face.  Your lips were turned up in a smile that didn’t quite reach your eyes, which were glistening with tears that you kept at bay.  A shiny wet streak stretched across your cheek where you had wiped a few that had fallen already.
“Don’t mind me,” you told him quickly, swiping the back of your hand across your face again.  “I’m just having a bad day.”  You didn’t attempt to hide your state.  In your mind, there was no need to around Crosshair.  You knew he wouldn’t pay it any mind.  You merely wanted to help him with whatever it was that had him knocking at your door- especially since it didn’t happen very often.  “Are you sure there isn’t something you need?”
“Are you...okay?”  The question was spoken slowly, as if he were speaking a foreign language.  You weren’t sure what you had been expecting, but that certainly wasn’t it.  His stare hadn’t relented.  “You were crying.”
It took you a minute or so before you knew how to respond.  His concern, if that’s what it was, was unforeseen.  You considered playing the situation down and just giving him an “I’m fine so he could be on his way.  But if there was anything you learned about working with the Bad Batch, it was a family of perceptive individuals.  Sometimes you’d put on a smile for the others, and they’d play along, even though you knew that they knew.  But in that moment, with Crosshair standing in front of you with those sharp eyes of his, it didn’t feel like the time to do that.
“Well if I’m being honest,” you said finally, flashing another half-hearted smile.  “I’m not okay.”
Crosshair exhaled quietly.  He knew you were in distress, and there you were standing in front of him admitting it, but that was only half the battle.  How could he make you feel better?  What in the universe could he do that would make the tears stop falling?  Or even put a smile on your face?  Again, it seemed like Wrecker territory.  Crosshair thought back to the last time your expression had fallen in front of the others.  Wrecker had wrapped his arms around you and lifted you off the ground in a big embrace, causing laughter to spill from your lips.  He remembered the pang in his chest even though he got to see you smile.  He wished it had been him to make it happen.  Maybe it was time to take a page from his brother’s book.
You had begun to feel uneasy about admitting your hurt to the most stoic of the Bad Batch when, out of nowhere, he opened his arms toward you, and for a split second, you stared at them in confusion.  Your eyes travelled back up to meet his expectant look.
“What…?”  Before you could finish your question, he took a few steps forward and began to close his arms around your form.  Eyes wide with surprise, your cheek was pressed into his shoulder as he tightened the embrace in a firm, but comforting way.  You finally responded, wrapping your arms around his lean torso.
He was so warm.  It was the kind of warmth that affected you inside and out.  Crosshair could be a difficult man to read on the surface.  He was more comfortable with showing irritation or anger.  Displays of the more tender emotions he held for his squad were subtle, so subtle that you might not notice them at first.  For him to step out of his comfort zone in that moment spoke volumes to you.
“It’s...going to be alright,” he drawled.  “I’m here.”  The tears had started again at his gesture.  You found yourself just sinking into the hug and taking deep breaths.  Crosshair kept holding you with patience as the hurt passed.
“Thank you,” you spoke into the shoulder of his blacks.  “I needed this.”
He pulled away only slightly to look at you.  Your head was swimming with many feelings as both of you locked eyes.  Suddenly, you felt his arms hold you tighter as you were lifted off the ground.  Your laughter filled the hall as he held you suspended for a moment before bringing you back down.  Crosshair’s lips were turned up in a smile, but he hadn’t released you.
He watched your reaction, your eyes bright and mouth forming a wide smile.  That was what he wanted.  That was what he was hoping for.  Your smile was like cool water on a desert planet to him.  Crosshair held your gaze for a few more moments until you broke eye contact to lean into his shoulder once more, a breathy chuckle escaping your lips.
   “Really, thank you.”
He ran a hand from between your shoulder blades to the middle of your back in another soothing gesture.  “I know I’m not the best at this.  Wrecker probably has me beat.”
“He’s great,” you said.  “But in my opinion, this is the best.”
His chest swelled a bit after hearing that.  Both of you pulled away from the embrace, fighting the desire to linger.  Crosshair’s expression remained soft, his features smoothed by the tender exchange.
“Want some caf?” you asked, breaking the silence that had settled between you two.  “I think Tech said there was some left, even if it isn’t a whole lot.  It’ll be restocked when the others get back.”
   He hummed in agreement.  “Sure.”

The Right Approach
One-shot: Tech x gn!reader
Words: 2K
Summary: Tech hasn't slept for a few days, and you're worried about him. No one has been able to convince him to a bunk, but Hunter thinks you might be able to get through to the goggled trooper.
AN: This week has been kicking my ass, and I've not had much time to focus on Derecho. Part 4 is almost done and will come soon, but I felt bad because I haven't posted in a while. So, have this kinda cute fluff with Tech that I wrote trying to get my mind into writing.
(I am also shite at titling things 😅 )
Warnings: None, only fluff and snuggles.
It had been four days, and Tech had not slept. With the repairs needed for the console in the cockpit, he had been working endlessly to be sure that the Havoc Marauder would be at 100% working capacity before they next took off from Kamino. The rest of the Batch did what they could to help, but much of it was intricate - more than one hand would not help.
Currently you were standing outside the ship, staring up the steps ready to stomp inside and give Tech a piece of your mind. How did he think he would get you all off the ground if he ran headlong into it himself?
You heard a clunk and a curse from inside, coming from Tech. You frowned, and were about to take the first step into the Marauder when a hand firmly grasped your shoulder.
“Y/N,” came Hunter's voice, and you sighed heavily before turning your head to face him. “You know he won’t stop. Especially if you’re just going to just tell him outright ‘get your ass to bed’.”
“Well what the kriff are we supposed to do then?” you asked with a slight hiss, frustration getting the best of you.
Hunter fixed you with a sympathetic gaze, and shrugged sadly. “Eventually he’ll just pass out in there-”
“And break something while he’s at it? Hurt himself?”
“There was a 'but' in that sentence, Y/N,” Hunter said, smiling a little and giving you a push towards the steps. “You might be able to get through to him.”
You looked at him incredulously, causing him to actually chuckle.
“Tech likes having you around. He’d probably listen to you if you approach it the right way. And based on how much you also seem to care about him, I figure you’re stubborn enough to get him to a bunk,” he said, as if he were just talking about the clouds passing through the sky. You could feel heat rising up your cheeks. “And yes, before you ask, I’ve known for a bit. Heightened senses, remember?”
You cursed internally. When you had joined the squad as their combat medic, you had taken an immediate liking to Tech. And with time, it just grew. Certainly he could talk for hours, and sometimes it was difficult to keep up with his excited chatter, but he was an amazing man. Strong, insatiably curious - and even with his oftentimes hard, matter-of-fact tone - incredibly caring. You had flirted with him from time to time, sometimes not even recognizing it yourself until afterwards. But the trooper seemed to be none the wiser to your actions. Never stopped your heart from racing whenever your hands accidentally touched though, or if he gave you one of those rare Tech smiles. That must be how Hunter knew; he could literally hear the thunder of your heart when the two of you were together.
“You really think I can get through to him?” you asked quietly.
“Worth a try,” Hunter said. “Besides, the rest of the squad are also getting antsy. If I have to listen to Crosshair go on about knocking Tech out with Gonky anymore, I might have to hide the droid.”
“He wouldn’t.”
“Crosshair likes to sleep in his bunk,” Hunter replied. “At this point he’d go to whatever lengths, I would imagine.”
You laughed, and nodded to the sergeant. He waved you on before turning away, likely to head back to the others. Turning and looking into the ship, you steeled yourself before going up the steps and stopping outside the cockpit.
“Tech?” you called.
“Yes, Y/N?” came his voice, seemingly bright as if he was actually still getting a regular amount of sleep.
“How… How’s it going in there?”
Another loud clunking sound and dropping equipment had you stepping inside, looking to find Tech on the ground under the console. The plastoid that normally covered his chest and back was gone, propped up against the wall next to the console.
“It’s going fine!” Tech growled, tossing something out of the compartment he was in giving you just enough time to skirt out of the way before it clanged against the wall opposite of him.
“Hmm, sounds it…” you muttered, before squatting down. He continued on whatever he was working with while you thought for a moment. “Hey Tech-”
“Y/N, please, I am attempting to get the comm frequencies on this damnedable thing working in proper order,” he said, and you could see him turn to look at you for a moment with a reflection of his goggles. “While the Marauder still has functional comm capabilities, the extensive damage from our last encounter with the Separatists has weakened the signal strength, which poses a threat to us while in the field which as you can understand-”
“I have a question,” you interrupted. He stuttered to a halt, and there was silence for a few moments before his hands appeared at the lip of the console and he pulled himself out. The words “sleep deprivation” practically screamed at you from the features of his face.
“Yes?” He seemed intent to answer whatever it was that you were going to ask, even if he had been frustrated a moment ago. Maybe Hunter had been right, and you could get through to him.
You swallowed a little, his tired face filling you with resolve. “What happens to someone when they do not sleep for 4 or more days?”
Tech frowned a little, before going into his answer. “Typically after 3 days of no rest, a person’s urge to sleep will get worse and they will begin to experience microsleeps. Perception is also significantly impaired, and reaching 4 days without adequate rest will continue to distort it. In some, the urge to sleep will become unbearable. It can result in sleep deprivation psychosis.”
You nodded along throughout his entire explanation without saying anything. When he finished, the two of you stared at one another for a few moments of silence.
“Oh,” Tech said with quiet understanding.
“C’mon,” you said warmly, standing up and holding a hand out to him.
Tech shook his head, and you briefly considered going to find Gonky. “I understand your concern, and though it is appreciated, I just need to complete one last thing with the comms before I believe they will be properly functional,” he said. Tech began looking around before his eyes fell on his datapad behind you on one of the seats, and pointed to it. “Could you pass that to me?”
You took the datapad in your hand, but didn’t hand it to Tech. He looked at you with confusion as you began to step away.
“If you want the datapad, Tech,” you began, stepping out of the cockpit, “you’re going to need to come and get it.”
You smiled a little when you heard him getting up from the cockpit floor behind you. “Please, Y/N, I need to calibrate it.” You ignored him, continuing to the bunks before crawling up into the one you usually slept in. You sat back on the bunk, back leaning against the wall, holding the datapad up next to your head.
Tech entered the room, looking even more tired as he stared up at you. “I’m unsure what you are attempting to accomplish here other than getting on my nerves.” You just smiled in response, waving the datapad at him. With a big sigh from him, you watched as Tech pulled himself slowly up to the bunk, and then knelt in front of you between your feet.
“Give it,” he said, losing any formality. You shook your head, waving the datapad again.
In any other circumstance, Tech literally crawling into your lap with a determined expression like he currently had, would have left you breathless. But your intent to get him exactly where he was now, reaching for the datapad and face so very close to your own, helped you keep focus. When Tech’s fingers firmly grasped around the datapad, you let go and leaned forward. Your arms wrapped around his torso and your legs around his, pulling him directly into your embrace, his chin hitting your shoulder.
“Y/N?” Tech tentatively asked, a bit breathless against you.
“You need to sleep, Tech,” you whispered against his ear, arms squeezing just a little tighter as he tried to move. You felt his sharp intake of breath and he completely stilled in your arms, tensely holding himself up. “Relax.”
“I… I need to-” he began, but his sentence was broken by a soft groan as one of your hands began to run up and down his back. A soothing motion, fingertips ghosting over his side as your palm ran along his spine. Your other arm moved under his, your hand reaching up to the back of his neck and gently running through the short hair found at the base of his skull.
You leaned your head gently to the side, pressing against his. “Please, Tech,” you pleaded, and you felt him begin to relax in your arms.
“Cyar’ika...” he sighed, and his voice was thick with sleep. His resolve gone due to your ministrations, he finally let his whole body slump against you, and he turned his face into your neck. You could feel his warm breath and cool goggles against your skin and you couldn’t help the small shiver that spread through your body.
“That’s it, Tech,” you cooed, loosening the grip of your legs so he could settle more between them. In doing so he slid down your chest a little, making you glad that at some point he had decided to discard his chest plate. You heard the datapad hit the bunk’s thin mattress as Tech's arms wrapped around you, pressing his face more firmly into your chest with a deep breath.
You felt a gentle warmth spread through you as you both embraced one another. You couldn’t help but smile down at Tech, and you gently reached up to carefully slide the goggles from his face before setting them down on the bunk near the datapad. It was mere moments before you could tell Tech was asleep against you. Moving carefully, you pressed your lips against the top of his head and leaned back again.
“Comms will still be there when you get up,” you said to his sleeping form, before closing your eyes and feeling a bit drowsy yourself.
It was a while later that you woke to the sound of someone entering the Marauder. You had no idea how long you had been asleep, and you opened your eyes slowly, looking about the compartment to find Crosshair standing there. His arms were crossed over his chest, and he was looking at you with a smirk. He just nodded when he saw your attention was on him, and climbed into the bunk below the one you currently occupied with Tech.
Speaking of, the usually goggled clone was still sleeping soundly against you. You smiled before gently running your fingers through his hair, feeling him sigh and snuggle more into your body.
“Hey Cross?” you called out, careful not to be too loud.
A grunt of acknowledgement was the sniper’s response.
“...what does ‘cyar’ika’ mean?” you asked after a moment’s pause. Tech had said it earlier, but you didn’t know what it was.
You were met with silence, and you were beginning to wonder if Crosshair was actually going to answer you. You resigned yourself to mystery when he finally spoke:
“It’s Mando’an. It means ‘darling,’ ‘beloved,’ or ‘sweetheart’.”
You froze. Tech had called you that? A blush creeped up your skin, and you knew if Crosshair had been looking at you he’d see just how red you were in the semi-darkness of the Marauder.
“Th-thanks,” you said back, before looking down at Tech. You didn’t think you had ever seen the trooper look as relaxed as peaceful as you did right now, and you couldn’t help but smile. Leaning down just a little, you hugged him a little tighter.
“Cyar’ika,” you soothed, and smiled more as Tech’s arms squeezed you tighter as well in response.

Soo... how would the Bad Batch react to a S/O that has a very snarky/dry sense of humor? Just always cracking jokes and finding humor in everything? (Love ur content btw <3)
Thank you for your request!!! And THANK YOU IM GLAD U LIKEY!!!!
Ok I have seen this but knew it would take me hours to write so I was waiting for the write moment! (get it? write = right? teehee) talk about a terribly dry sense of humour my goodness.
How Would The Bad Batch React to a Snarky/Witty/Dry Sense of Humour Significant Other (s/o)
Factz: Not even kidding, I feel like the boys would kill for a hella sassy partner in crime.
Hunter
Oh my gosh they are literally best friends!!! They speak in a very similar style to each other.
Hunter expects a little bit of snark from Cross, sarcasm from Echo, and quips from Tech, but when his s/o just dishes his dry humour right back at him the first time they meet, he's like "Why was that so... hot???"
So from then on, most of the dialogue exchanged between the two of them are like super sassy comments and witty replies, until it unintentionally gradually morphs into really heavy flirting. They get so into teasing each other, the whole batch can feel the tension in the air.
Of course both are oblivious of this for the longest time.
But when eventually they do figure it out and get together, the whole batch sigh in relief thinking "finally this intense pining is over"... But it actually just gets worse?
So now during missions, the two of you verbally dance around each other like you're in some comeback war.
In the middle of a serious mission:
Hunter: "I need you here now!"
S/O: "wow wow Hunter. babe. cool your jets. i know we haven't really done it in a while but we're in the middle of a mission and-"
Hunter: "As much as I love how you think mesh'la, I think you're misreading the situation."
His s/o also keeps ruining his *tough guy* persona. During briefs, his s/o keeps making him crack his skillfully honed poker face.
The teasing through dry humour is just a really fun and goofy way to connect to each other and is their common ground of affection.
Tech
We all know Tech is a witty boi, and man do we love him for it!
Tech finds his s/o's attitude quite entertaining.
He does like it when they use their snarkiness to defend him from people that give him a hard time, but he like his s/o's humour best when it's just the two of them having fun.
I feel like Tech would find it 10x funnier if his s/o was also really smart and able to understand his technical language, because they just pass these really witty/funny quips back and forth to each other that are actually hilarious but no one understands. It's like their own hidden language.
Now we've seen Tech smile and m a y b e chuckle a little before?? But so far, we've yet to see Tech actually laugh and I headcanon that Tech snorts when he laughs. (Has anybody seen the live action TMNT?? Kinda like how Donnie laughs in those). So ohmiGOSH it's so WhOlEsOmE when his s/o makes Tech laugh!! He's so CUTE!
The rest of the batch will be out getting supplies while Echo works of the exterior hull of the ship and Tech and his s/o fix up the systems inside.
Tech laying under a panel: "Hm, this wire seems to be adhered to a far less efficient arrangement." Tech's s/o wordlessly shuffles over from their panel to analyse the problem. Their shoulders touch as they lie side by side.
S/o: "Mm, I think you're right, but see here? It looks like it's been manually transfigured. Probably by Echo in one of our many quick fixes. It looks like he's done it so he can easily access and program the flight module."
Tech: "I'm going to rewire it to-"
S/o: "To that one right?" His s/o says, suppressing a smile as they point to clearly the wrong wiring. Tech's eyes narrow and his brow furrows.
Tech: "Of course not! That would compromise the-" He catches a glimpse of his s/o's cheeky grin, "oh you're joking." His s/o bursts out laughing and he can't help the smile that stretches over his face as he shakes his head.
By the end of the repairs, the batch come back to find you both practically rolling on the ground in snorting fits of laughter.
Their humour paired with their competence makes them super attractive to him.
Wrecker
Wrecker finds his s/o's dry humour the funniest thing in the galaxy. He is one of those blessings that will always laugh at your jokes.
Which is a relief cuz I have dry humour and almost no one ever laughs at my jokes rip.
I mean, you guys saw how he reacted in ep 1 when Omega DeStRoYeD those regs in the mess hall. He was so proud and supportive of her.
So yeah he's pretty much his s/o's hype man.
He loves that his s/o's humour means that they quite enjoy playful competition and games. So they're always playing random games together, even going so far as to arm wrestle (S/o: "But we both already know who's going to win... Me. Obviously.")
And sometimes he will let his s/o win, just because he thinks it's so cute when they start flexing their arms and boasting about how strong and amazing they are.
He knows they're joking. He knows they know he let them win. But even though they've never really beaten him, he still thinks they're strong and amazing.
There is always friendly banter between the two but what Wrecker loves the most is how easy his s/o makes things for him.
He's not a natural at romance, and often finds himself making mistakes or he might do something a little awkwardly. But instead of being mad, disappointed, or judgmental, his s/o just smiles or laughs it off and walks him through things.
He feels like he can always be himself around his s/o.
Crosshair
Again, it's canon and fanon that Cross is a bit of a grumpy pants so he obviously finds his s/o's wit irritating at first. Which his s/o finds annoying, so his s/o just does it more just to get under his skin.
Totally enemies to lovers trope. I see it no other way. FiGhT me.
His s/o would make jokes all the time but I see that one day, his s/o makes a dry joke and he gives them crap for it, and they've just had enough and so they absolutely *slam* him with snark, sass, and wit that cannot be rivalled by Crosshair himself. They get right up into his face; tension as thick as s o u p.
And then he just grabs their face and makes out with them.
His s/o's like "ok" and totally rolls with it.
The Bad Batch wonder why they don't fight as much anymore (not that they're complaining).
Now they both use their sass to bully the regs.
They kinda become this unbeatable pair of unrivalled attitude. Unlike Hunter and his s/o who use it to tease each other, while Cross and his s/o do that a little too, they mostly direct their humour and sarcasm outward. Cross's s/o is a little more good natured than him though and will pull him in when he goes a bit too far.
He generally finds his s/o's humour quite funny now (though he'll never admit it), and the fact that he smiles a little more doesn't go unnoticed by his brothers.
Echo
Ok while Hunter is master of the dry humour, Echo is KING of sarcasm.
Having said that, I feel like Echo would actually far more appreciate light humour over sass/snark/wit/etc.
I think after being through the crap he's been through, echo baby just needs a light hearted, positive beam of sunshine in his life and his s/o is it.
He loves that his s/o always has a way of making others laugh and smile, even on really hard missions and in rough times.
I think his s/o having a lighter humour also makes him feel safer. Like there's no chance of miscommunication whereby this s/o accidently hits a sensitive topic. His s/o sticks to surface level humour which makes it easy to digest.
They are also absolutely fantastic at telling funny stories which is a real treat when his s/o will retell stories about some of the missions the Bad Batch has done and they just execute the story perfectly.
Echo is in love with his s/o's laugh and thinks it's so cute when they giggle at their own jokes.
He'll never say it, but his s/o's humour sometimes reminds Echo of Fives and Cutup, which is a bit bittersweet for him.
They say that "a joyful heart is good medicine" and for Echo that couldn't be more true. His s/o's joyful heart and nature revive and heal him. He is so much happier because of them and will tell them so in between little kisses as his s/o giggles playfully at his gentle yet eager ministrations.

Tall
Prompt: Tech is too tall for his own good. Constantly hitting his head on objects and desks as he works on projects. The other bad batchers make fun of him for this but you find it endearing.
Tech X Reader
Slow Burn/ Angst
Warnings: Mild 1.10 Spoilers
Word Count: 1.5K
Part 1/?
This was 100% inspired by this gif from episode 7 of Tech under the main control desk.
Tumblr media
You enter the cockpit of the Havoc Marauder late at night slowly and quietly as you try not to disturb the tall man who is working on the wires under the main panel.
“Tech?” you call softly to him when he doesn’t notice you.
He abruptly sits up hitting his head on the underside of the panel and laying back down quickly with a loud thunk.
“Well that was unpleasant.” he says with a grimace of pain as he leans out from under the panel. You try to not look worried when he rubs his head where he had hit it on the panel.
 “Is there something you need?”
“Sorry! I just couldn’t sleep. Figured you were still up here.”
He nods slowly as he leans back down to continue working on the wires.
“Do not mind me. I am upgrading the general security system of the outer walls. The door has been slow to close recently and I am trying to fix the timing. Feel free to sit in here as long as you want. I could use the company.”
He becomes absorbed back into his project as the time passes. Mindlessly chatting about the upgrades he's making and the general gossip of the other men and Omega. It is mostly you gossiping honestly. Tech isn’t the biggest gossip in the world but he listens like every detail you talk about is the most important and interesting information he has ever heard.
“I’m pretty sure Omega thinks we don’t notice when she borrows our blacks to sleep in. I swear every time I turn around I’m missing another shirt out of my basket. I think it must be a comfort thing.” you say with a yawn as you fight back the call of sleep. Tech’s presence is a calming one and you love hearing him talk. He is your favorite of the bad batch and you might have a small crush on him but you would never admit it to him. He is your best friend. Tech nods absently as he pulls another wire from under the panel.
“I have noticed mine disappearing too but I assumed Echo was doing laundry and got them mixed up with Hunter’s again.” he says slowly. His goggled eyes glance towards you with mirth in his eyes at the joke.
“If Echo is confusing your black’s with Hunter’s then he really must be bad at laundry. You have at least 5 inches on him and your blacks are much bigger. At least he doesn’t think they are Wrecker’s.”  You chuckle sleepily at the thought.
Tech crawls slowly out from under the panel, making sure not to hit his head again, apparently done with his upgrades. “I think it is time for you to go to sleep,” he says with a small smile in his voice. You don’t complain as he helps you stand and leads you towards the bunks where the rest of the crew is sleeping.
“You need sleep too.” you protest as he turns to go back towards the cockpit. He smiles wryly at your pathetic attempts to chastise his insomniac tendencies. “I will be fine. Someone needs to stand guard until morning.”
You wake up to the sounds of the rest of the Bad Batch moving around and packing up for the rest of the day. Hunter is passing out rations, Wrecker is curling Gonky like a barbell, Echo is slurping what is obviously his 2nd cup of caf of the morning, Omega is still curled up in her little corner with her clone trooper doll and Wrecker’s blacks on looking more like a night tent than a nightgown, and Tech is nowhere to be found but is more than likely in the cockpit still.
“Any caf left?” you ask in Echo’s general direction. He grunts in the direction of the pot that still has ¾ of the brown liquid in it. You pour 2 cups of the precious drink and head towards the cockpit. Tech is absorbed in his datapad and again doesn’t hear you enter. You wait in the doorway and watch the tall man as he scrolls through the information he has been pouring over all night. The smell of the caf fills the cockpit. Tech sniffs the air and turns towards you as a smile appears on his face.
“Is that for me?” he asks hopefully. You hand him the cup you prepared for him just the way he likes it. He smells the cup before he takes a sip. “It is perfect. Thank you.”
You fall into the co-pilot seat with your cup and start to examine the new security system that Tech spent the night working on.
“Looks good to me! Anything I need to know before you all leave for your mission?”
Tech starts explaining the broad strokes of the new system and how the upgrades make it easier to use. You nod along as you listen to the explanation. The men are headed out on another one of Cid’s bounties. This one is on Raxxus? You think.
“Isn’t Raxxus the separatist capital? Why are you all headed there?” you ask slowly, not comprehending.
“A job is a job. We must pay back our debts.” He’s doing the really cute finger thing he does when explaining things.
Your heart melts at the gesture. He doesn’t realize how cute he is sometimes. Tech gives you a strange look as you realize you have been staring at him for a moment too long.
“Hey Tech!” Hunter calls from the back of the ship.
Tech stands up to head back towards the bunks where the other men are gathered around a map of some kind. He hits his head on the top of the doorway as he forgets to duck while walking through it.
  “OW”
You stifle a laugh as he rubs his forehead and pushes through to the back of the ship. You can hear Echo making a crack at Tech’s mishap with a light laugh.
“Watch out for the roof Tech. Your head might damage it if you aren’t careful.”
That man is too tall for his own good. He towers over you when you stand next to him and you won’t deny it makes you feel things. You have had a crush on the nerdy clone pretty much since you joined the merry band of deserted clones. You joined in the aftermath of Order 66 with Omega from Kamino. You were her nanny and you gladly went with the clones when the imperials took over. You never quite trusted Palpatine when he was the Supreme Chancellor and you trusted him even less when he turned the clones against the Jedi and declared himself Emperor. The Bad Batch offered you freedom and you seized the opportunity. Shaking off the memories, you make your way back towards the back of the ship. Omega is awake now but is still sitting in her bunk. Her big eyes are blinking away sleep. You help her down and she immediately goes to stand next to the clone she has claimed as her makeshift father. Her nightshirt is almost dragging the ground with how long it is and you chuckle at the sight. Hunter gently pats her hair, mussed from sleep. Echo hands her a ration bar then turns back towards the map. Tech has an angry red mark on his forehead right above his glasses from where he hit the top of the doorway.
“So what is the plan?” You ask as you look over the map. It appears to be a blueprint of the palace on Raxxus. Hunter starts explaining the mission in simple terms so that you can understand. Basically they need to rescue the senator from the Imperial clones. Omega and you are to stay on the ship and protect it from patrolling clones. Omega protests this as you frown at the idea. Hunter shuts down the complaints with a wave of his hand.
“It is safer for you two to stay on the ship than risk losing you to the imperials” He says quietly. “I can’t lose you again.” he says to Omega as he bends down to her level, “This is the best option right now. We don’t know what we are walking into on this planet. We already have 2 at least bounty hunters after you and the last thing we need is the clones to find you too. We still don’t know where Crosshair is or if he is even alive after the last encounter. I can’t lose anymore of you.”
He finishes slowly and turns back to the men gathered around the blueprints scattered on the table as he rises. Hunter nods to the others and they head towards the ramp. You gather Omega up in your arms and head up to the cockpit to watch as the men depart. She is not happy at the thought of being left behind and her big eyes are shining with anger and hurt. You hold her close as you watch the men disappear into the trees with the droid client. I hope they are going to be okay. You think to yourself.

thinking (yet again!) about the differences between the bad batch story reels and the season seven arc and like... some changes just blow my mind because all it did, really, was make the bad batch less likable.
lets star with the whole “reg” thing. if i remember correctly, in the originals “regs” is said twice. the first instance is by crosshair when taunting jesse in the LAAT. the second is said by hunter: he tells tech (who’s hacking into the cyber center) that he and wrecker are going to “go get the regs” (i.e. rex and jesse). that is, hunter only used it among his squad when the others were not present (much like how cody informs that the bad batch are defective clones out of earshot. these words are descriptors, but there’s also an offense associated to being referred to by them). the idea that hunter has restraint referring to regular clones this way in their faces connects, i think, to how hunter was a tad more apologetic to jesse in the original script. “he means regular clones. don’t take it personal. it’s just that we don’t always follow protocol” carried an actual sense of hunter trying to convince jesse that it’s nothing to do with him.
it’s interesting, i think, that in a context where you have clones and defective clones, that the bad batch (as defective clones) would find a way to talk about other clones in reference to themselves in a way that normalizes their own existence. it also introduces the idea that the bad batch experience a level of disconnect, and even animosity, in regards to other clones. all that can be conveyed by only using the word twice. the season seven episodes added three more instances, and in all of them the bad batch members comfortably throw the word around the clones who “are regs.” the sense of separateness (which, again, was already established/achieved by using it just two times) is only made stronger (thus more needs to be done to portray a sense of reconciliation or coming together. the reels succeed this to an extent because that barrier wasn’t built up as high).
so yeah in the original... wrecker didn’t say “we always get shot down when we travel with regs,” he kept quiet as he helped people out of the wrecked gunship (in fact, wrecker lost a lot of subtlety going from the reels to the final eps, which i’ll get back to). hunter didn’t fake-compliment rex with a “not bad, for a reg”! and oh boy crosshair’s comment implying that echo is worthless and expendable because he’s a “reg”... yeah that was not in the reels either. in fact, not only does crosshair not call echo a reg, the meaning of his original dialogue was completely different.
in the original, after hunter voices his suspicions echo might be dead, crosshair suggests that if alive echo could be cooperating with the enemy, making him a traitor. rex takes this as an attack on echo’s character and crosshair explains that no, he’s not intending to insult echo, by saying: “oh i don’t blame him, if i were left for dead, i wouldn’t be so loyal.” and like!!!!! that’s such a radically different line of dialogue because crosshair seems to blame rex for having left echo behind, actually. if you betrayed the republic to survive, or even out of spite, i don’t blame you even if you now present a threat to myself and my family, is such an interesting, empathetic sentiment. and that contrasts with the lack of regard given to rex, making it read like he’s condemning rex for leaving someone behind. crosshair doesn’t seem to understand, as an experimental commando clone, the pressures rex as a legion captain is under, because he’s seen a less expandable (they’re a specially trained four man team, if one dies that’s 25% of the unit gone. is there a replacement for that member? you get the idea). so you’ve got a clash between different povs, but also crosshair being shown as having a set of morals, chief among them being that you do not leave anyone behind. so remember when rex says to move out and crosshair goes “commander cody is in no position to move” yeah i’d say that’s crosshair making sure cody isn’t being left behind. when crosshair saves anakin? that’s because he saw anakin go off on his own and followed him. because you don’t leave people behind. and like... the idea that yeah crosshair is an asshole. he’s unpleasant and that’s deliberate. he doesn’t care if people like him and he’s not trying to be liked. but that he values the lives of other people and looks out for them? that makes an interesting, flawed and multifaceted character. that got lost in the dialogue change because its no longer suggested that crosshair holds these values.
as for what i said earlier about wrecker: he lost subtle, nonverbal moments through the addition of lines that are either anticlimactic or only serve to make him seem loud or ditzy in an exaggerated fashion. he didn’t laugh when the LAAT came down. he was quiet as he helped people out of the downed gunship (no comment about regs!). he didn’t say “boom” when the ship exploded in the background after he flipped it over (the difference? a character moment that’s actually cool and impressive vs something that’s corny). when wrecker comes to crosshair’s aid by picking rex off of him, there was no quippy one liner. there was no need for anything to be said for it to be understood that wrecker is acting as a barrier and it trying to intimidate rex. when he’s afraid to get onto the elevator? that’s conveyed visually through camera angles and through hunter picking up on the fact that he’s scared. he doesn’t scream (if you can call a comical “aah what is that thing oh no its going to get me” a scream) when the organic decimator almost gets him. when they walk across the pipe? wrecker doesn’t whimper or talk to himself for comfort. he is scared of heights, that’s already been established, but he’s also a grown man and a soldier like he’s keeping that to himself? like we see wrecker hesitating to walk on the ledge but doing it anyway because he has to. in a piece of dialogue that was cut, tech said “does anyone want to know the odds of us making it across alive?” to which wrecker (who’s you know already having a bad time) interrupts with “don’t even think about it, tech” (if ur curious, this exchange was replaced with: wrecker: “keep walking tech!” tech: “that’s fine, but if you fall don’t take me with you” which???? uuh weird exchange). also, the fact that wrecker was mostly dealing with his fear silently means that when hunter tells wrecker to hold on because they’re almost there... that’s because hunter knows he’s scared and is checking up on him. basically... any kind of serious moment was cheapened by having wrecker talk in them. now i don’t want to say that DBB is a bad voice actor, but his expertise is making animal noises. he’s not able to do a realistic, deep voice, meaning that whenever wrecker talks he kind of sounds like a joke. it’s fine when wrecker is actual being lighthearted and jokey, but otherwise? the emotion just does not come across as genuine, which breaks the stakes or weakens credibility.
and god the whole plot point about the bad batch being suspicious of echo was nonexistent in the reels. the “don’t worry, echo says he’s got a plan”/”that makes me feel so much better” exchange between rex and tech is in the original, but tech’s sarcasm isn’t from doubting echo’s allegiance, it’s because they’re planning to land on admiral trench’s ship and echo having a plan (that he himself doesn’t know) doesn’t exactly soothe his anxieties. rex acts like tech’s being a big joker and playfully shoves him, telling him to get on board. which is an interesting interaction because these characters are kind of starting to bond?? as for tech and echo, they kinda become nerdy friends really quick. like when tech warns echo not to send the signal right away because he first needs to make it look like it’s coming from skako minor, echo’s like “oh yeah good thinking tech.” and when echo figures out a way to shut down all the droids at once tech is impressed and lightly shoves his shoulder. again there is none of that “oooh maybe echo’s a traitor maybe he’s with the techno union” shit. like i understand that the writers wanted to up the stakes but it falls flat because the idea of echo being a traitor isn’t credible. it does not seem like an actual risk or possibility. so all it did was make the bad batch seem like assholes, cutting away at some very nice character moments.
ok this is a long post and you might ask yourself “but tumblr user rishi-eel, why do you care so much about the story reels, this stuff isn’t canon now” and there are a couple reasons, first, i think it managed to tell a better story overall. so the question is: why is that? because you would expect that writers reworking the plot would add improvements and not downgrades. and to be fair, the s7 episodes had a bunch of upgrades, but not when it came to the characterization of the bad batch. another thing to consider is that changes were made in the context of setting the bad batch up as future protagonists of their own spinoff series (something the original arc was not intended to do because there were no plans for a bad batch series). were the characters made flatter and more archetypal to add to marketability? was the reg/defective clone rivalry (and dichotomy, even) amplified because this separateness serves a narrative in which the bad batch are heroes and the other clones villains?

My guy, can I just say that I LOVE your writing? Its absolutely amazing and wholesome! speaking of wholesome, could I maybe request the clones with an s/o who wants a child? Or maybe the clones as fathers?
Wow thank you, I'm flailing on the floor from these compliments! Glad to provide some wholesome content for the fandom in these trying times... #bringcrosshairhome
I just did a Clones with pregnant S/O request, so here's Clones as fathers...
Cody is a dutiful father. He takes the job seriously right from the start, seamlessly readjusting his life to include his child as if they'd always been there. He'll take any opportunity to teach his child all the important things, from hands-on tasks like fixing a speeder or shooting a blaster, to more abstract concepts like being polite to strangers and apologizing when in the wrong. When he has to choose work over home, he makes up for it with extra attention when he returns.
Rex is a super-dad. His kids look up to him their entire lives, believing he really is a superhero. Think Jack Pearson from This is Us. He'll dress up for tea parties, and listen to the same stories over and over, and chauffeur them and their friends around town, and help with homework, and lend them money for when they go on their first date.... He's tired all the time, but he never lets it show. He and his S/O are partners in this endeavor; their teamwork is admirable and enviable.
Wolffe is a private dad. He keeps his family life separate, that way he can be the tough leader he needs to be in battle, and then let all of that go when he returns home. He's a secret softie and only his S/O and child ever see that side of him. They have him wrapped around their finger; he knows this, and loves it. There isn't a single thing he wouldn't do for either of them. They are his world. He gets sentimental about a lot of things and doesn't like how fast his baby grows up.
Fox is a doting father. He'd spoil the shit out of his kids. Sneaking candy when their mom says no, buying the toy they secretly eyed in the store, letting them stay up late and watch him clean his armor. He gets in trouble with his S/O a lot, but he can't help it. He wants to give his kids the entire galaxy. He can discipline them when necessary, and because he only does so sparingly, his kids take it seriously and never act that way again. He thinks they are just perfect.
Fives is a proud dad. Everything his children do is amazing. He keeps every last drawing or craft they make for him. He recounts every milestone of their lives to his brothers. He cries over them a lot. He is just in awe of how they grow up, all their strength and potential and innocence, he just eats it up. He definitely wears T-Shirts that have puns of the word dad in it, so anyone who sees him knows who he is. It's the most important part of his life, far more than being a soldier.
Echo is a nurturing father. He is very concerned with the health and happiness of his child. He's more nervous when they're young, wondering if they're behind in their development or whether their runny nose is a sign of something more serious. He's more comfortable when they get older, letting them do more on their own. He's big on communication and uses little codewords. Like, Cover-fire means he needs them to just do as they're told. DMZ means they're free to speak their mind, no judgement. Retreat means they need to rethink their bad attitude and apologize.
Jesse is a hip dad. He doesn't try to be, he just is. He never really let go of that part of himself after becoming a father, listening to certain kinds of music or having a fun night out. He doesn't set a lot of rules; in fact, he openly allows certain things that other parents might balk at. He figures it's better for them to experience these things in the safety of their home, rather than doing it behind his back and getting hurt. His kids like their cool dad, they're never embarrassed.
Kix is an affectionate father. His favorite thing in the whole galaxy is coming home to his children tackling him with hugs and kisses. He might coddle in the early years, letting them sleep in his bed or carrying them around everywhere. But as they grow, he's more encouraging of their independence, so long as they still let him hug them whenever he wants. He's also obsessed with health; totally the dad who never lets them eat any sugar or watch TV if the sun's still shining.
Tup is a timid dad. He second-guesses himself a lot, wondering if he made the right decisions or said the right things to his child. He does his best to learn and catch on to the best way to go about things, but it seems as soon as he's finally comfortable, his child has grown up or moved on to the next phase and he has to start over. He is best during the quiet moments of his child's life: reading stories before bed, giggling during bathtime, comforting a broken heart...
Dogma is a responsible father. He prioritizes rules over all else, but puts a lot of thought and care into crafting them. And he's created a lot of rules for himself, too. Things like always wishing them good-night, even when he's away on missions. Or never expressing his frustration in front of them. He creates plenty of opportunities for them to earn privileges or other rewards. He disciplines firmly but fairly. He splits the child-rearing duties with his S/O evenly, as well.
Hardcase is a dorky dad. He's not as hardcore at home as he is on the battlefield, but he still has a lot of energy and releases it through corny jokes, silly antics, and other displays of tomfoolery. Think Phil Dunphy from Modern Family. He wants to be his children's best friend. He tries to keep up with all the trends and slang, which just makes his kids cringe in embarrassment. He's not the best with discipline, but he does get more serious if one of them is hurt or struggling.
Hunter is an interactive father. He will never be considered distant, oh no. He engages with his kid on every level, being a constant and dependable presence in their life. He talks to them as a baby even when they don't understand. He lets them tag along as a toddler, indulging in their curiosity. He checks in with them when they're older, having honest conversations about whatever is on their mind.
Wrecker is a playful dad. Life is an adventure and he's excited to take his children along on the ride. He'd have a lot of kids, filling his home with sounds of laughter and fighting and joy and tears. He'd encourage them to develop a hobby and would attend every competition, performance, etc. without fail. Even with so many to keep track of, he manages to make each one feel special, they all have an important place in the family and never get left out, not on his watch.
Crosshair is a protective father. He knows he's not the best with emotions, so he makes up for it by always having his child's back. Looking out for them. Keeping them safe. He'd teach them how to fight from an early age, going to shooting ranges or on hunts. It'll be their "thing," a way for them to quietly connect through the years. And heaven help the poor soul who ever hurts his little one. He will not hold back in defending their honor and squeezing out an apology.
Tech is a chill dad. He isn't bothered by much, so he keeps his cool through even the roughest stages of his child's development. This ends up creating a sense of stability for his family, they can always count on Dad to keep things steady and real. He won't pry into his child's life; if they want help, they'll need to come to him. But once they do, he is passionate about teaching them everything he knows. He will support them in all of their studies, hobbies, and interests.

Sore Loser
Pairing: Hunter x fem!reader
Rating: M (18+ ONLY)
Warnings: this is some straight up smut (PiV), little bit of roughing around/dominant Hunter
Tumblr media
Who ever had designed Kamino’s supply closet had not been very forgiving, but at the same time, they probably had not been designed for hooking up in, merely a stash of supplies, cleaning products and the occasional broom.
It wasn’t romantic, stars, it wasn’t even comfortable, but there is no way you would have made it back to your quarters the way the two of you were worked up.
Training had been rough. Each clone had been evaluated for individual assessment, as opposed to the squad, and for extra measure they were up against you.
Sure their were plenty of other hired bounty hunters, Jedi and droids to fight with, but you provided a different set of skills to combat; how to handle separating friendship from survival.
Hunter had been quick to pick up your movements and you had to abandon your usual attacks and charges. Every incoming hit, he saw ahead of time. He never attacked, only defended, studying you closely as each move was made.
It was time for improvisation.
He circled around you, waiting for your next attack, when you let your mind clear, no more planning ahead, you thought, instinct only.
And that was how, only a few short minutes later, you found yourself straddling the Sergeant in the middle of the training field, his viroblade strewn aside and your training blaster firmly pressed under his chin.
As the Kaminoan’s called for your assistance reseting, you saw Hunter slink off to his brothers, watching Wrecker place a reassuring hand to his shoulder.
“You’ll get her next time. No one could have seen that final move coming.” You heard Wrecker tell him.
“Statistically, there was a 1 in 2,531 chance of her ever beating you.” Tech quipped.
“It just happened to be this time.” Crosshair sneered.
When the team finally left and you were dismissed and you let out a sigh of exhaustion. You were ready for rest.
Lucky for you, that wouldn’t come til much later.
The halls were dark as the ever present storms of Kamino ragged on, you almost missed the figure sliding beside you.
His red bandana flashed as he jumped in front of you, attempting to scare you.
“I heard you coming.” You laughed.
Hunter laughed too, “but will you know what’s coming next?”
“Next? Hunter I have to-” but your sentence wasn’t finished as he cut you off with a quick peck.
“What if someone sees?” You hissed as pulled back, laughing at your sour expression.
“They won’t, not if you come with me.” He responded, extending a hand to yours.
Hesitantly, you took it and then found yourself being yanked into a supply closet you hadn’t know was next to you.
Lips immediately pressed into yours as your back crashed into shelving.
“Ouch!” You yelped.
“That’s what you get for earlier.”
“Hunter, that was strictly professional!”
“And so is this,” he said, yanking your shirt over your head.
“I’m never going to hear the end of getting my butt kicked by a training officer.” He growled nipping and biting at the newly exposed skin of your chest.
“Not just any training officer?” You smirked. “The one you’ve been sleeping with for the past few months? Let’s not forget.”
Hunter let out an annoyed groan before shoving his face in-between your tits. His hands reached around and fondled your ass.
“Seeing you so, so intuitive, so natural at taking me down,” he mused, in-between now sucking each breast while palming the other, “it was so...”
“Sooo...?” You raked your fingernails down his head through his hair, tugging softly on the ends.
“So hot.” He groaned. “I’ve never seen you look like that.” He raised back up to kiss you again.
As he continued to kiss you, you ran a hand down along his armor, searching for clasps to undo the codpiece.
“Let me.” He said softly, pulling back so he could take off the plastoid covering him.
Stripped down now to only in his blacks you ran your hand along the prominent bulge in his pants.
“Look, I’m already hard at this point, you don’t need to tease.”
“Maybe I should help you out with that?” You said sweetly sinking down to your knees.
Hunter backed up slightly to give you more room in the cramped space. He rolled down his blacks and underwear freeing his stuff cock.
You placed a kiss at his tip, before licking a stripe from the base to the end.
Smirking mirthlessly at him you spoke, “but I don’t think losers deserve a reward.”
You stood back up.
“That’s it.” Hunter snapped.
He grabbed your shoulders and spun you around. He slammed you up against a free wall.
“I’ll show what a loser like me can do.”
Unceremoniously, he yanked down your pants and underwear, and began groping your ass.
You turned your head to look at him, but he swatted you lightly.
“Do not move unless I say so. Got it?”
You nodded.
“I can’t hear you.” He growled.
“Yes.”
“Yes what?”
“Yes Hunter.”
“Good.” He came closer to you, one hand on your hip anchoring you between him and the wall.
The other hand was making its way towards your dripping cunt.
“What’s this? All for me?”
“Yes Hunter.”
One finger began swirling inside, while another sought out your most sensitive spot.
“Who knew training could get you so worked up?” He purred bringing his mouth to the shell of your ear.
You whined and pressed your ass against his straining cock.
“No no baby.” He said continuing his ministrations, slowly. “I don’t know if a loser like me should let you have that. It might ruin your reputation.”
You hissed as he added another finger to you, “sorry you suck at training sims.”
“What was that?” He yanked his hand away and you whined again at the loss of contact.
“Maybe you don’t deserve this cock then.” He said backing up slightly and running a hand up and down himself.
Not wanting to risk fully turning around, you glanced over your shoulder at him stroking himself.
“You want it?” He asked.
“Yes.”
“Yes what?” He repeated.
“Yes Hunter, please.”
“I guess it’s a good thing I’m not a sore loser,” he said coming back up behind you lining himself up with your entrance from behind. “I can’t say the same about you though,” he slid his full length in you eliciting a loud moan from you “at least the sore part.”
You could hear the smirk in his voice with that last part.
His hands found your hips and he began thrusting into you.
“How are you this tight every time?” He said, between gritted teeth.
Your arms were splayed in front of you bracing yourself as he slid in and out.
“How do you always fill me up so well.?” You responded.
He only let out a soft chuckle to that. “You’re so good to me. So tight. You take me so well.”
You closed your eyes enjoying the feeling of Hunter pounding into you. A free hand of his roamed over your front, squeezing your tits together.
“And so soft.”
You dipped one of your own hands down the front of your body, finger finding your clit, you let out a slow moan.
“Oh no you don’t,” said Hunter and he quickly replaced that hand with his own. “I may not have won today, but I will certainly be collecting a reward of my own.”
His hips slapped against your backside at bruising pace and his fingers found that sweet and most sensitive spot, pushing you over the edge, causing you to gush over him.
“Hunter!” You cried out, your hips jerking back to his.
He didn’t let up.
“Come on baby, I know you have more than one in you. I saw it earlier. You were just as turned on as I was when you knocked me down earlier. I was completely defenseless, just like you are now.”
You felt him, deeper, borderline to bottoming you out.
“C’mon baby, let go for me.”
Your legs trembled and you felt weak as he drove another orgasm from you, his own not far behind. The two of you riding the wave of pleasure until you felt as if you would fall over, you were so exhausted.
Pulling out, Hunter then flipped out around, searching your eyes. “You alright?”
“Never better.” You smiled at him.
He smiled back and pressed a kiss to your mouth.
“I should kick your ass more often if I knew this would be the result.” You told him.
He through his head back and laughed, laughed!
“That was a one time thing, I’m afraid.” He said pulling his blacks up and tossing you your discarded shirt.
“So sure?” You asked him, as he began buckling armor again.
“Positive sweetheart. But this hooking up in the supply closet, definitely not.”
Now it was your turn to laugh.

Warnings: none really.
Without further ado, I present to you the moment you’ve all been waiting for. *bows deeply* *backs away*
6: Confessions
You snorted to yourself. Not act on it, that’s for kriffing sure. You sighed, shaking your head. Even if someone wanted to get into a relationship with you — already dangerous territory — why would they even consider accepting you harboring feelings for others? Ridiculous. Everyone you’d ever known besides your Vod’ika had been fiercely possessive of what they viewed as their own — and besides, even the 501st had been super protective and jealous of you in most aspects.
Letting out a heavy sigh, you resigned yourself to suffering in silence as always. They would never know, and you’d simply continue to work with them. Hopefully, best case, your crush would pass and fade away in time. After all, maybe this really was just a reaction to the kindness the Bad Batch had shown you after you’d been neglected for so much of your life.
You staunchly decided that you didn’t want to look further into it than that. Best not fan flames of false hope, after all.
Having made a decision, you refocused on humming and popping the finished three pans into the oven. You moved onto the icing you’d decided to put on the cupcakes. The team ate a lot, after all, and it’s not like you got sweets a lot on missions. The sugar might be a nice pick-me-up or reward for their hard work. Plus, you decided, the ship smelled nice now.
Whisking away at the icing in the chilled bowl, you let the contentment settle over you. Humming to the music, you started to sway a little and step lightly in time to the beat. The ship was warm; you felt content for the time being; and you were where you wanted to be.
“Whoa, what’s that smell?”
You almost started, turning around to see Wrecker in the doorway, staring at you with wide eyes. You felt your face burn as you realized that Crosshair, Hunter, and Wrecker had caught you dancing as you baked. Setting the bowl down, you gave them an embarrassed smile.
“Welcome back. I figured I’d make you some cupcakes-?” You offered, tugging at your hair that you’d put up and out of the way. “I just put them in the oven: I’m making frosting right now.” You picked the bowl back up.
Wrecker blundered into the kitchen, clearly a bit tipsy. His eyes lit up. “Whoa, seriously Shiv?” he exclaimed giddily. “Cupcakes? You’re making them? For us?”
You had to laugh at his flushed cheeks and childish grin of excitement as he plopped himself down on the floor and watched you. “Yes, I know we don’t really get sweets or anything on missions usually, so I figured I’d just... you know. I mean, you all work really hard, you deserve something for it. Plus, I owe you a snack, remember?”
Hunter nodded at you from the door. “Appreciate it, Shiv. I’m going to go back to my quarters for a while,” he mumbled, clearly on sensory overload.
You nodded back. “I’ll leave some for you in the cooler whenever you want some,” you promised. “Please get some rest.”
He nodded, trudging off.
You hesitated, glancing at Crosshair. “Would you... would you like to join, or... or should I just save you some?” you asked tentatively, unsure if the quiet and usually sullen sniper would want to be around.
He glanced at you, and you couldn’t tell if he’d even drunk anything or not. Then he grunted. “Too warm in here. I’ll be in the common room. Thanks for the... stuff.” With a curt nod, he headed off.
You blinked, then took it as a sort of thanks. Crosshair had always been short with everyone, so you took no offense to it; but you’d also realized over time working with him that the fact that he was never outright rude to you was his way of being personable. And the fact that he even sat in the same room as you for periods of time was another silent proof that he, at the very least, didn’t hate you. He normally never complained about working with you either, only making constructive suggestions that, while sometimes terse, weren’t overtly or purposely vitriolic.
You shook yourself and refocused to see Wrecker staring up at you with a sort of stupid grin.
“Are the cupcakes almost done?” he asked eagerly, turning to look at the oven.
You laughed. “Not quite, I just put them in a few minutes ago, so it’ll be another fifteen minutes or so.” You offered him the mixing bowl. “My arm is getting a little tired, can you help? I just need to mix this a little more.”
He took the bowl and started to whisk, still careful even in his tipsy state not to spill too much. Well, he tried, you had to note with some amusement. He still splashed a little, but you weren’t really bothered by it. You’d purposely put extra in there anyway, just to be safe.
“Did you have a good time?” you decided to ask, turning the music down and going to check the timer.
“Yeah! The drinks weren’t too bad, and I got to see a couple of familiar faces,” Wrecker said, still diligently stirring away at the icing. “I mean, I was a little sad when you left, but I knew why, you know? I kinda hoped you’d have fun, not have a bad time.”
You almost froze, desperately trying to calm your heartbeat that had picked up. Straightening, you sent him a jittery smile. “Th-Thanks, Wrecker. You were there, so it wasn’t all bad. It was just one guy.”
He notably cheered up at that. “Good, good,” he said with a decisive nod.
“Oh, can I see the icing? I think it should be done,” you said, trying to change the topic. Your newly-discovered feelings could absolutely not handle any sort of encouragement.
He held it out, glancing into it. “Is it supposed to look like that?”
You peered into the bowl, noting with satisfaction the peaks of the icing. “Yep. Could you put it in the cooler please? Once the cupcakes are out and cooled enough, I can put the icing on.”
He nodded and got up, carefully putting it away in the cooler. He rather gingerly sat down on a chair, then accepted the glass of water you offered.
“Thanks. I think I maybe had one too many,” he said, gulping down the glass.
You gave him a sympathetic smile. “Well, the water should help,” you encouraged.
“Do you drink, Shiv?” Wrecker asked curiously, peering at you.
You blinked, then shook your head. “Never really started in the first place,” you admitted. “I mean, I understand the draw, but I never was allowed to before, and then it just sort of... I don’t know, I figured that after all this time, why start? Caf is my poison of choice, and I don’t fancy the hangovers, not after taking care of the 501st with Kix too many times.” You rolled your eyes fondly at the memory.
“Huh. Makes sense,” he conceded with a nod.
The timer went off just then, so you grabbed the oven mitts and opened the oven. The toothpick came out clean, so you grabbed the trays and set them on the cooling racks, turning off the oven.
“Are they done?”
You hummed and nodded, poking at one. “Yep, they’ve baked all the way through and the top is spongy,” you said in satisfaction. “I knew it would be a good batch.”
“What flavor are they?” Wrecker tilted his head at the trays curiously.
“I made one flavored Nabooian chocolate, the second vanilla, and the third mint,” you answered.
“Whoa, Nabooian chocolate? Isn’t that pretty expensive?” Wrecker looked surprised.
You shrugged. “Yeah, usually, but the GAR usually gets things a little cheaper in bulk and I decided it was worth it this time around. Sometimes you just... need to indulge while you have the opportunity, you know?” You gave him a smile.
He smiled back and nodded. “Yeah... makes sense.”
Once the cupcakes had cooled enough, you carefully lifted them out of the tins and set them on the racks. Grabbing the bowl of icing from the cooler, you started applying it in neat swirls. Wrecker shuffled up behind you, peering over your shoulder at the process.
“They look nice,” he remarked encouragingly.
You glanced up at him with a smile. “I’m glad. I chose a buttercream icing so it would pair well with the flavors.” Once you were finished, you licked your fingers clean of the icing that had gotten smeared in the process. Cleaning out the bowl, you set everything away and began placing the cupcakes in containers. Grabbing a few, you took three plates and placed a few on them to go take to the others. Turning, you smiled up at Wrecker.
“Help me carry these?”
He grabbed two plates, letting you get the other one for Hunter. He followed you down the hall, and you stopped briefly at Hunter’s room. You knocked lightly on the door.
“It’s open,” a voice came from within.
You slipped through the door, then placed the plate on his bunk. “Here you go,” you whispered, trying not to agitate his senses.
He glanced from you to the plate, then nodded. “Thank you, Shiv.”
You just nodded back, then slipped back out and closed the door. Following Wrecker down the hall, you went into the common room to find Tech and Crosshair still there.
“Yo, Cross, Tech, Shiv made us some snacks!” Wrecker said, putting the plates down.
“Oh- the one with more on it is for Tech and Crosshair,” you said quickly, “and the other plate is for you, Wrecker.” Everyone knew that Wrecker ate more than the rest of you, due to his size and genetic mutation.
He grabbed his and sat down, gleefully beginning to tuck into his cupcakes.
“There’s Nabooian chocolate, vanilla, and mint,” you repeated for Crosshair and Tech’s benefit, twisting your fingers in your sleeves. “I hope they’re okay....”
“They’re so good,” Wrecker all but groaned around his mouthful.
You noticed that Tech was still engrossed in his work, so you decided to go and gently tap on his shoulder. He started slightly and looked up at you owlishly.
“Oh, Shiv.”
You gave him a gentle smile. “I know you’re doing good things, but please take a little break? You haven’t eaten or drank anything in a while.” You offered him water and a cupcake.
He blinked down at it, then seemed to automatically reach out and take it. “Oh. Uh... th-thanks, Shiv,” he said hesitantly, looking up at you with a sort of surprise buried in his eyes.
Impulsively, something in you drawn to his wistful expression, you reached out and brushed your fingers briefly through his mussed hair, smoothing the wild strands. “I thought you might be a mint type of person,” you said, giving him a smile.
He took a bite of the cupcake, chewing it thoughtfully. “I do like mint,” he confirmed, then began tucking into the cupcake, almost wolfing it down. He didn’t remark on your gesture, so you decided not to address it and instead turn around.
Crosshair was already halfway through a chocolate one. Glancing up, he lifted the cupcake in a sort of half-salute of acknowledgement.
You smiled back, glad that the sullen trooper seemed to enjoy the treat.
“Hey Shiv, come sit!” Wrecker motioned next to him. He offered you a cupcake once you sat beside him, but you shook your head.
“Oh, I’m okay, thanks. I sort of scraped the batter bowls when I was making them, so I’ve already had a taste.” You shrugged, picking up your datapad. “You enjoy them.”
“Boy am I,” Wrecker enthused, grinning. He polished off the others on his plate, smacking his lips. “These are super good.”
You briefly glanced up at Tech, noting that he’d absently begun on another cupcake while tapping away again at his screen.
“Do you think they’re going to put us through a battle simulation soon?” you asked warily, frowning down at your datapad.
“Statistically, probably,” Tech answered. “It’s been a while since our last one, and they do tend to keep up with us as a modified unit.”
You sighed, shoulders hunching on yourself. “And now I’ve been added to the force,” you concluded glumly.
“Is somethin’ wrong, Shiv? I like the simulations, they’re fun.” Wrecker glanced down at you curiously.
You sighed. “Well, I’m... I’m a weird factor in the whole mess. I’m usually either told to sit out on a simulation because they’re testing the functionality of the troopers, not me; or I’m limited to stun-only weaponry, which is really difficult to hold as a form. I’m made to be a lethal weapon, so my default is to use live ammunition, not training weapons. I can, of course, but it’s an extra thing for me to remember when I’m utilized in a simulator. The Kaminoans really don’t like it when I mess up and damage either their training units or their equipment.”
Tech tilted his head, brushing crumbs off of his lap. “I hadn’t realized it before, Shiv, but what relationship exactly do you have with the Kaminoans? You never really said how you came to be a weapon for a clone unit. Why wouldn’t you have been assigned to a Jedi or an officer?”
You grimaced, tucking your legs up to your chest. “That’s... a long story, Tech. Not that I wouldn’t tell you, but... I don’t think right now is the best time. Besides, I think Sergeant Hunter should be here to hear it, too, as my leader. But for now, I think it’s safe to say that the Kaminoans are interested in replicating my DNA, so using me with a clone force to see how I would react to and mesh with their clones is a convenient experiment for them.”
Tech conceded. “I suppose that’s fair,” he said with a nod. “But we will most likely be asked to participate in a training regimen soon.”
You reached up and brushed hair out of your eyes, feeling the exhaustion creep up on you. “I think I’m going to go to bed.” Standing, you sent everyone a tired smile. “Get some sleep, if you can.”
“Thanks for the cupcakes, Shiv. I’m gonna eat more tomorrow,” Wrecker declared, waving at you.
You nodded and stepped out, shuffling down the hall to your small room. You might have to spend the next couple of nights in the GAR barracks, considering the probable training regimen you’d be called in for tomorrow plus the report you’d have to give to Commander Rex.
You quickly fell asleep, exhausted at the mere thought.
~
Commander Rex raised an eyebrow in vague amusement as he faced you. “You didn’t have to send me an entire comprehensive report, as much as I’m sure the command base will appreciate it.”
You shuffled your feet sheepishly. “Sorry, Commander,” you laughed self-deprecatingly. “You know me.”
He nodded. “I think I do, which is how I also knew that giving you time to compile a report would result in me being able to see data for myself.” Standing, he sighed and clasped his hands behind his back. “I personally see your integration as a success, Shiv. You seem to be integrating into the team very well, and the team seems to accept you. But you also know that my report of success will have a natural repercussion.”
You looked down at your feet. “Tipoca,” you said resignedly.
“Yes,” Rex confirmed with a nod. “Tipoca. The Kaminoans have already requested the presence of Force 99 for checkups, especially since your integration has been considered a success.”
“I figured, Commander,” you said quietly. “I also mentioned it to the team last night. I might have to... tell them.”
“If you think it’s prudent.” Rex left it up to you. Then he sighed, reaching out to place a hand on your shoulder. “It was good to see you again, Shiv. You seem to be thriving in the Bad Batch. But I do have a word of warning.”
You blinked up at him, a little surprised. “Y-Yes?”
“You know that most Regs don’t look on defective clones very... positively. And you already know your own reputation on Tipoca. Keep your head up.”
You nodded. “That’s another reason I’m going to tell them, sir,” you admitted. “They’re probably going to say something, but...” You shrugged your shoulder.
Rex nodded. “General Skywalker asked about you the other day. He seemed pleased to hear that you had found a place with the Bad Batch.”
You had to smile at that, grateful that he’d remembered you. “If you see him again, tell him thank you for thinking of me. I didn’t think he’d remember me.”
“Will do. Go on, Shiv. You probably have to leave soon to get to Kamino on time.”
You nodded. “Have a good day, Commander. And-“ you paused before you headed back out, turning briefly to glance at him. “I hope to the Maker that you see nothing but success on your missions.”
He nodded. “Same to you, Shiv. Take care of yourself and your team out there.”
You left, letting the door slide shut behind you. Walking down the hallways and corridors, you sighed heavily and tried to think about how to tell the Bad Batch about your past. They deserved to know, not only as your teammates but also considering they wouldn’t otherwise understand the routine you’d have to go through once you arrived on Tipoca.
As soon as you got back to the ship, Hunter found you. “Good, you’re back, Shiv. We’ve gotten commands to go to Kamino again.”
You nodded resignedly. “I know. Um, Sergeant, would it be possible to talk to the whole team? I have to explain a few things before we arrive at Kamino. It has to do with why we’re being called there.”
He paused and stared at you for a moment, then nodded. “Gather in the common room once we’re up in the air.”
You nodded, heading off to the common room and trying to think of the best way to go about it. Everything felt... distant, in a strange way. You had to figure out how to distance yourself, at least enough to explain the standard procedure you were always subjected to on Kamino, not to mention what they’d have to look forward to.
Everyone shuffled in once the ship was in hyperspace to find you curled up on one of the seats, staring blankly at the floor. Wrecker plopped himself next to you, while Tech took his usual seat and Crosshair and Hunter sat opposite the three of you.
“So what’s all this about, Shiv?” Hunter asked evenly, opening the floor.
You sighed, uncurling enough to not hide your face. “I know I haven’t said that much about my past, or how I even started working among clone troopers. And now that we’re being called to Kamino, I figured this is probably the best time to tell you about it, since... it’s going to be important.”
You grimaced, reaching up to pull a hand through your hair. “I’ve already said that I’m a weapon, and that there aren’t many of us throughout the galaxy. I’m not the only one, but... definitely one of the few left. I... Since I can remember, my earliest memories start with me being a slave.” You didn’t even flinch, used to the memories. “I was bought, sold, traded off, moved hands throughout my earlier years, until I fell into the hands of a well-known Separatist leader who bought me to be trained as a personal bodyguard and weapon.”
Wrecker grunted, clearly displeased as he frowned thunderously.
Leaning back, you wrapped your hands around your knees pulled up to your chest. “I was... well, there wasn’t that much known about my kind or species, still isn’t. So naturally, I was... poked and prodded at for a long while until I was about... ten? That’s when my formal training began.” You rolled your eyes. “As if I hadn’t been forced to kill since I was six,” you said tiredly, shaking your head. “All that was different was that I was forced into a grueling regimen for three years.”
“You were forced to kill when you were six?” Hunter frowned, eyebrows furrowing as he stared at you intently.
You nodded. “Yes, that’s the earliest kill I can remember. I don’t even know what might have happened before that. My memory has been proven to be faulty concerning anything before seven.” Glancing around, you felt the familiar knot twist in your stomach. “Anyway, those three years were not just for combat training but also for etiquette training. I was groomed to be not just a weapon but an ornament for a rich, upper class noble that liked to flaunt his money and... eccentricity. After all, I was a rare commodity.”
“A very clinical outlook,” Tech remarked, tilting his head at you.
You glanced at him. “It was the only way I knew to view myself. I’d been taught since I could remember that I was a slave, that I lived solely to be a slave to someone else, whoever that may be. I was to be bought and sold freely at my master’s whim, passed from hand to hand. After all, I was just a weapon, right?” You shrugged, the bitterness twisting your lips. “It was all I’d known for most of my life. I was to stand still and look pretty staring at the ground unless my current master decided to use me to either protect himself or... reaffirm... his power.”
Wrecker cracked his knuckles. “Let’s go find him,” he suggested darkly, glaring.
You smiled at him slightly, patting his arm. “Thank you, but unnecessary. The War broke out, and after another three years serving as a weapon for the Separatists, my former Master was unfortunate enough to run into General Skywalker and his squadron, the 501st.” You shook your head. “Once my Master was defeated, I was freed from his control. I didn’t know what to do except offer myself to Commander Rex, since he’d basically won me in combat. One Master for another. Their confusion turned to horror once they managed to access the surviving information about me and figured out what and who I was.”
Despite yourself, you had to smile down at your knees at the memory. “Looking back... it’s almost funny,” you sighed, shaking your head. “The way they lost their minds trying to figure out what to do with me and how to interact with me. Long story short, General Skywalker decided that for the time being I should stay with the 501st and Commander Rex, since I’d latched onto him instinctively and refused to leave his side. It was my conditioning, so it was all I really knew. I’ve spent the past... four or so years with them until now. But there was a long process for me in those years.”
You winced. “This is where Kamino comes in. Not knowing what else to do with me at the time, Commander Rex and General Skywalker decided to send me to Kamino in order to figure out more about my biology and my mental conditioning. I’d been fitted with several inhibitor chips at the time, including a microchip that reinforced my obedience to whatever master held the other half of the microchip. Since my former Master had been incapacitated, the chip damaged, I’d reverted to the other inhibitors and latched onto Commander Rex. Kamino... was very excited to discover me.”
Crosshair snorted. “Of course they were,” he sneered.
You just nodded. “Of course they were,” you sighed. “I was another opportunity to look into for their scientific experiments. After removing my inhibitor chips, they put me through a long reconditioning process that re-taught me a sense of individuality and being. Since I had nowhere else to go, I decided to make myself useful and pay back my debt to the 501st by agreeing to subject myself to Kaminoan jurisdiction just like the clones. Clones became... my new identity.”
You took in a deep breath, closing your eyes for a moment. Bracing yourself, you continued.
“I chose to allow the Kaminoans to continue experimentations on me as long as I could stay under the command of Commander Rex unless he decided otherwise. Commander Rex was kind enough to take responsibility for me, and I was reconditioned to learn to work with clone troopers. The Kaminoans are interested in studying me in order to decide if it’s worth using me as a new DNA template for cloning.”
“An endless supply of versatile weapons,” Crosshair deduced cynically. He had his arms crossed, toothpick clenched between his teeth.
You nodded. “Yes. Once Commander Rex decided that I would work better with a smaller group... well, I’m here now. But that also means that as soon as he reported that my integration into the Bad Batch had been successful...”
“We’re going to be going through tests in order to test us now that you’ve been added,” Tech concluded. He nodded, adjusting his glasses. “Makes sense. After all, this could be the proof that they’re looking for that one of you in a group of four enhanced is worth an investment.”
You nodded. “I’m sorry. I did mean to tell you, I just... didn’t know when would be the best time, and...” you sighed. “Commander Rex did warn me that I’d have to tell you, especially since I’m not... I’m not very well favored among the Regs, especially on Tipoca.” You uncomfortably shifted, looking away.
Hunter sighed. “Well, that won’t really be a problem. We’re not well accepted among the Regs either.” He shook his head. “As long as you’re one of us, you’ll never be accepted.”
“I guess they’re right when they talk about being in good company,” you said with a weak smile. You already felt exhausted just trying to sum up the weirdness your life had been in general.
“Well, while it’s interesting and valuable data, it doesn’t really change much,” Tech said, looking down at his datapad. “It’s not like we weren’t an unusual unit in the first place. It’s just another added member and test.”
“Yeah! Don’t worry, Shiv, we’ll take care of ya,” Wrecker cheered, patting your shoulder. “Anyone talks bad about ya and we’ll take care of it.” He cracked his knuckles again.
You had to breathe a laugh. “Thank you, I appreciate that. But I am used to it, so please don’t get into too much trouble.”
“Wrecker’s always looking for a fight anyway,” Tech said, the eye roll clear in his tone.
Hunter stood with a nod to you. “Good to know, Shiv. We’ll just have to keep it in mind once we’re there, but I don’t think it really changes all that much when it comes to procedure. We’ve always been put through training anyway every time we go back.”
You nodded, relieved that the talk had gone well. “Thank you. I’ll... continue to do my best.”
“You’re going to need to if you’re coming in with us, this time,” Crosshair remarked, standing. He just glanced at you. “Wrecker, come with me to the cockpit.”
Wrecker patted your shoulder again, then stood and headed toward Crosshair. “What? Why? Did Hunter need us again for something?” His voice trailed off as he went off down the hallway after the sniper.
You blew out a breath, letting your forehead rest against your knees. The knot in your stomach had loosened, relief spreading through you in a sudden rush. You had, in the back of your mind, worried that the team might resent the added scrutiny your presence would bring. But it seemed as though they’d just accepted it as inevitable. Sometimes, it was still hard to accept the kindness and acceptance you’d been shown.
“Are you alright, Shiv?” Tech spoke up from his seat.
You looked up at him, feeling the shadows pool under your eyes. “Oh... I’m fine, Tech, thanks. Just...” You shrugged. “Telling that story is kinda exhausting for me. Always has been. Plus, I always feel tired whenever I try to remember anything that happened before I was seven.”
He tilted his head. “Did the Kaminoans figure out why?”
You shook your head. “They couldn’t tell if the damage to that part of my memories was a natural biological reaction to some trauma or an after effect of the myriad of inhibitor chips that had been implanted in me. Thanks to their conflicting effects at times, the Kaminoans decided that using an inhibitor chip in me was an unnecessary risk. Besides, I’d been so willing to stay that there was no point except for conditioning to reinforce my... loyalty, I guess.”
“I understand.” Tech nodded. “Do the questions bother you?”
“No.” You shifted, turning to better face him. “Besides, you guys deserve to know. I mean, I’m basically in your head most of the time anyway. I’d say we’ve passed the point of being afraid to ask personal questions.”
Tech glanced down at his datapad. “I know that our inhibitor chips are mostly disabled because of our mutations. You say that you don’t have one?” he asked curiously.
You subconsciously reached up and rubbed your head. “No, all of the older ones were removed. And the Kaminoans didn’t put one in. Too much risk without enough data. All I have right now is a high-grade birth control implant,” you said thoughtfully. “I’d been outfitted with one during my time as a slave, though I could never figure out why.” You furrowed your eyebrows. “I mean, they never intended to use me in that sense. I was strictly an ornament and a weapon; and besides, they’d conditioned me thoroughly with the implants to never seek out any sort of physicality in that sense, so why put the implant in?” you puzzled wonderingly.
“Perhaps as just an added measure of protection? A sort of security of the purity of a possession?” Tech suggested without malice.
You shrugged. “I’m not sure, though that might be a good guess,” you agreed. “The Kaminoans asked if I just wanted it removed, but I figured I’d just ask for a safer and better replacement just in case,” you said dismissively. “It was offered, why not. Besides,” you said with a dark sense of amusement, “I don’t plan to procreate, but I did have to sacrifice my virginity for a mission.” You rolled your eyes at the memory. “Kix and Fives almost lost their minds over that one.” You snorted.
Tech looked a little flushed, the tips of his ears stained with color as he shifted.
“Sorry, Tech,” you had to laugh a little. “Didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable.”
He glanced at you. “It’s alright. But, uh, why were they upset?”
“Oh, not at me,” you said, shaking your head. “They’ve always been my brothers, so they’ve been protective of me. I guess I worried them when I told them about it because they thought I’d maybe been forced into it.” You shook your head with a sigh. “I just... I’ve never really been allowed to make any of my own choices, you know? It was one of my first big decisions I made, albeit kind of stupidly. Anyway, it’s not like anyone would want a relationship with me.” You shrugged, leaning back in your chair.
“Why not?” Tech sounded surprised, staring at you. “I mean, I’d think that choosing a weapon as a partner might be beneficial. Not that you’re just a weapon,” he added.
You smiled at him. “Thanks, Tech. But I mean... I am a weapon,” you pointed out. “I’m meant to be used as one, and... I mean, even now, I’m the weapon of a team. I don’t know that anyone would want all the baggage I come with, or even be able to handle sharing me with four other people — it’s just. A lot to ask.” You fiddled with your shirt. “Besides, I don’t know who’d be interested in me anyway.”
Tech seemed to open his mouth, then closed it. Then he opened it again as though he couldn’t help himself. “Wrecker is.” He jerked a little as though cringing.
You blinked, looking up at him. Telling your brain to shut up, it’s not what it sounds like, you tilted your head. “What? I mean, I’m glad he likes me, but-“
But Tech shook his head. “We’ve all noticed it. Wrecker definitely likes you. He pays a lot of attention to you, and he’s super protective. I probably shouldn’t tell you his feelings, but I...” He fiddled almost nervously with his gadgets. “It sort of just came out before I could stop it,” he admitted.
Your mind fairly spun. “I- I don’t-“ your entire brain short-circuited. Wrecker liked you? No, no, that had to be wrong. “What?” you choked out, feeling your hands start to tremble a little.
Tech grimaced. “Sorry, Shiv, I shouldn’t have said anything. Don’t worry about it-“ ”How could I not worry about it, Tech?” you exclaimed, your chest tightening. “I’m always in you guys’ heads, and- it’s not fair for me to know that when he’s been so kind to me and protected me so much that I-“ you choked on your own words, tears welling in your eyes. You rocked back and forth with a little whimper, reaching up to dig at your eyes. “It’s not fair.”
Tech looked like he didn’t know what to do, face pinched. “Shiv- I’m sorry, I... I don’t know what to do. I-“ He looked toward the door. “I should go get-“ “No, please-“ you blurted, trying to gasp for breath. “It’s not- not your fault, I just-“ You shivered, swiping tears away. “I’m sorry, I’m not being fair to you either.” You drew in a rasping breath. “I- I really- I just...”
“What can I do to help you?” Tech asked, his hands nervously moving as though trying to figure out what to do.
“I... it’s not fair,” you whimpered, not looking up at him. “I... I’ve grown so close to all of you, and... and I’m being stupid.” A hiccup wrenched out of you. “I- I realized last night, at the 79s... I realized that I- that you all have been so kind to me and it- it’s made me so selfish, Tech,” you half-sobbed. “I just want to do everything I can to be- to be a good teammate, a good friend, a- a useful weapon to you all, but I- it’s just that- I’ve been stupid and allowed- allowed myself to- to wish for more than I should.”
Tech sucked in a breath, straightening. “Shiv-“ ”I’m sorry!” You flinched, sure that he would be upset that you’d allowed yourself to blurt out the feelings you’d promised yourself would stay hidden. Sure that he’d remind you that you’re just a teammate. Sure that he’d tell you that Wrecker shouldn’t have formed... something.
“No, Shiv-“ Tech reached up and ran his hand through his hair. He abruptly stood, then placed a hand on your knee. “Wait right here for a minute. I’ll be back.”
You didn’t have the strength or presence of mind to stop him, the anxiety starting to seize you with a force that left you gasping. Hands shaking, you clutched at your chest with tears dripping down your face and tried to just breathe. This had to be it. They would find out, they would be upset about it, they’d decide that they didn’t want you as part of the team because what mad person is shown basic kindness and latches onto it to the extent of forming feelings for not just one but four people-
“Shiv!? Maker, Tech, what happened?” Hunter’s voice curled through the air, washing over you. A warm hand landed on your knee, making you flinch with a gasp.
“Shiv!” Wrecker’s voice made you feel even worse. Two giant hands landed on your waist, and you gasped as he lifted you up and sat down, setting you in his lap. “Shiv, what’s wrong?”
Despite yourself, you had to curl into him for the warmth he radiated through his blacks, desperate for some kind of grounding strength. Anything to help you calm down.
“I... I may have made a mistake,” Tech admitted, his voice laced with distress. He relayed the conversation as you let out a sob, shoulders shaking.
The way Wrecker stiffened made you abruptly try to push away, almost launching yourself off of him. Only his firm grasp on your hips stopped you.
“I’m sorry- I’m sorry- please-“ it wrenched out of you, leaving you raw and shaking. “Please, I-“
“Why are you apologizing?” Wrecker’s voice asked, sounding confused. “Shiv, don’t apologize.”
You looked up at him through watering eyes. “But I-“
He tilted his head at you, still keeping a tight hold on your hips. “Tech is right. I do like you.”
But it only made you feel worse. “Wrecker, I don’t- I- I’m always in your head through the Bonds,” you pleaded, trying to explain. “I- your kindness toward me- I- I don’t want to take advantage of that. It’s not fair for me to- to ask you to return my feelings just because- because I’m with you all the time or anything, I- I shouldn’t have even said anything, I told myself I wouldn’t-“
“Why not?” Wrecker demanded, a frown curling his lips.
You squeezed your eyes shut, burying your face in your hands. “Because I’m in love with all of you!”
A silence fell in the room, only broken by your hiccuping sobs. Everything was wrong. You’d never meant to say it, never meant to do this.
“Say it again.” Hunter’s voice was low, demanding in a way that made you instinctually obey.
“I’m- I have feelings for all of you,” you whimpered, curling in on yourself in absolute misery. The truth of it resonated through you, a blessed sting of lovely pain.
“I guess that’s good for us, then,” Crosshair drawled, a smirk tilting his lips up.
Wrecker let out an excited whoop. “Did you hear that, Hunter? She said she likes all of us!”
Nothing was making sense. You looked up, trying to understand. Why weren’t they upset?
Wrecker grinned down at you, squeezing your hips in a way that made your stomach flip. “We all like you, Shiv.”
You gaped up at him, mind spinning. What?
Hunter reached out, using a finger to tilt your head to him. “Shiv, all of us have feelings for you, too. We had to discuss it because... normally partners aren’t comfortable with being shared. We Clones are used to sharing things, especially with each other. We didn’t think you’d want to be with all of us, so we decided to step back and let Wrecker have a chance, since you seemed to accept his attention. Not to mention, we’re not normal in any sense.”
You swallowed thickly, breath hitching as Wrecker’s hand came up to brush tears away from your cheeks. Your lashes felt heavy with them, and you sniffled, fingers unconsciously curling in his sleeves.
“You’re- you’re not angry with me?” you asked tremulously, peering through your eyelashes up at Wrecker.
“Course not, Shiv.” Wrecker’s ever-present grin had softened at the corners, his one good eye focused on you unwaveringly. “We’re super glad that you like all of us.”
Lips parting, you turned to look at the others, hope starting to bloom in your chest. You could feel heat starting to creep up into your cheeks as you realized. You’d confessed. They’d actually accepted and... returned it?
The corner of Hunter’s lips tilted up, dark eyes focusing on you. “You’ve taken care of us ever since you joined, Shiv. You’ve tried your best to acclimate to us, worked with us without complaining about anything, took responsibilities you didn’t have to, made food for us, even on the very first mission took damage for Tech and I. Why wouldn’t we appreciate that at the very least? We want to take care of you, too.”
This time, the tears that welled up weren’t because you were upset. Reaching up, you brushed them away shakily. “You... you like me?” you repeated, almost dazed. Surely you’d been hearing wrong. All of them? Liked you? Liked you?
Hunter chuckled. “Yes, Shiv. We do.”
You sucked in a breath, trying to grasp it. “I...” Your mouth seemed to insist on betraying you. “No one has ever liked me before.” You flushed. “Sorry, I-“
“Better for us, then!” Wrecker cheered. He practically crushed you to his chest, laughing. “So does this mean we get to call you ours now? Oh, does that mean I can kiss you, Shiv?”
“Wrecker,” Tech spoke up, sounding a bit alarmed.
But you stared up at Wrecker with a blink. “You... you want to kiss me?” you asked, surprised. The one fling you’d told Tech about had been just that— a stupid, hasty fling with no feeling to it, done to keep cover on a mission.
“Yeah.” Wrecker sobered. “But only if you want it, too, Shiv.” His honest brown eyes gazed down into yours.
You swallowed, fingers clenching against his chest. “If... If all of you... if you like me, then... then what does that mean for us?” you asked quietly.
“It means we all want to be part of a relationship with you, Shiv,” Hunter said firmly. “But only if that’s also what you want.”
You looked up at him. “I am your teammate and your weapon,” you said honestly, feeling a little lost. “I... I don’t want to be hurt more than I already have. If you- if you’re serious, then— then I’ll give you whatever I have,” you said, looking down at your hands. You closed your eyes, swallowing. “I’ll give all of you my all, equally, wholly. I’ll be a teammate, a partner, a weapon for all of you, as much as I can. But you have to know,” your voice cracked, “that if I do... you’ll have the power to completely break me. And I- I’m willing to take that risk. But you have the right to know that, before you— before you decide that you want—“
“We want you.” Hunter spoke lowly, confident.
“We love you, Shiv,” Wrecker pitched in.
“We don’t want to break you or leave you,” Tech said, shaking his head.
Crosshair met your eyes and nodded slightly, gaze fixed on you with an intensity that sent a shiver down your spine.
You decided to continue to trust them. “Then... I’m yours,” you said shyly, suddenly very aware of how closely Wrecker had pulled you.
Wrecker grinned widely. “Can I kiss you, Shiv?”
You flushed but nodded, giving him a shy smile. Your eyes fluttered closed as he bent forward.
Wrecker’s kiss was... so distinctly him. His mouth burned, breath hot against your own lips. He tasted like the buttercream of the icing you’d made for the cupcakes, and his hands clenched eagerly around your hips. Still, it was gentle in his own way, and you found yourself dizzy from the heat when he finally let go.
“You okay, Shiv?” Wrecker asked, hand sliding up to your lower back to support you.
You took in a breath, leaning against his chest. “Y-yeah- s-sorry,” you stuttered, “it’s just— your breath is so warm.” You swallowed, closing your eyes.
“Is it?” Wrecker quizzically looked down at himself, breathing on his hand. “Huh.”
“Can-“ you sucked in a steadying breath. “I-“ The Bonds, usually passive in the back of your awareness, were lighting up with emotion. Wrecker’s pure elation was coursing through you, making you lean your forehead against his chest for a moment. You let out a soft whine. “Wrecker, you- you’re broadcasting so much-“
“Huh?” Wrecker paused, then let out an “Oh!” The elation quelled a little after a moment. “Sorry Shiv. Is that better?” he asked sheepishly.
You looked up at him, still feeling a little punch-drunk from the overflow. “You- you’re happy?” you asked, tilting your head at him. He grinned, a wave of adoration crashing over you. You shivered, collapsing against him and burying your face into his shoulder with a soft cry.
Hunter let out a quiet, husky chuckle. “I think you’re overwhelming her, Wrecker.”
“Sorry Hunter,” Wrecker said sheepishly. “Can’t help it.”
You felt yourself being moved, and the flow of emotion slightly slaked off, enough for you to try to look up. You found yourself gazing up at Hunter, who had pulled you into his lap instead. He reached up, brushing his thumb under your eye.
“A little better?”
You stared up into his eyes, noting hazily how much darker brown they were compared to Wrecker’s. While Wrecker’s Bond had stopped being so overwhelmingly loud, it was still present. Instead, you started feeling a new trickle of emotion from Hunter’s Bond. A muted sense of pride, of fondness that ran deep in its strength.
Your hands braced you against his arms, wrapped around your waist to keep you steady. “I-“ your eyes fluttered as you lost yourself to the emotion, lips parting with quick breaths. It was so clearly directed at you, meant wholly for you to feel. It washed over you with a warmth in its strength that you had no defense against.
Hunter bent, his mouth briefly pressing against your shoulder. “Can I kiss you, Shiv?” he asked lowly.
You just nodded, barely registering the question, completely pliant. Wrecker’s kiss still burned against your lips, only the feeling of Hunter’s arms holding you grounding you still.
Hunter’s kiss, you thought fuzzily, was as sure as he was. The care was there, certainly, but the way his mouth slanted against yours and the way his tongue brushed against your lower lip held a confidence that Wrecker’s hadn’t. His kiss gave as much as it took, a soothing coolness trickling between your lips in exchange for stealing your breath.
Your fingers tangled in his sleeves, and once he let go, you had to helplessly collapse against his chest and gasp for breath. Your mind whirled, simultaneously drowning in the projected emotions as well as your own. This was really happening. They really— they really cared for you. Accepted and returned your feelings.
The Bonds didn’t lie; and they refused to allow you to doubt the reality of it all as they continued to pour affirmation into your starved soul.
“Please-“ your voice was a weak cry, tears hovering on your lashes. “I— it’s so much-“
“Do you believe us, Shiv?” Hunter murmured into your ear. “Can you see how much we care about you?”
You looked up at him through blurred vision and sticky eyelashes. “Hunter,” you whimpered, desperately trying to focus. He bent and simply pressed a brief kiss to your parted lips.
“I think Cross wants some attention.” He smirked at you briefly, then turned you around.
Crosshair’s fingers grasped your chin, tilting your head up to him. A single emotion crossed your Bond with the sniper before he bent.
Crosshair’s kiss was possessive. Far from cold, the brief flash of fierce want underscored the fiery way his lips caught yours. He demanded entrance, quickly staking a claim on your mouth as soon as your lips obediently parted without question. It was the least distant he’d ever been toward you, and he pulled away to leave you almost cold.
The corner of his lips curled up in a smirk as he observed you with dark eyes, the pad of his thumb briefly brushing across your lower lip. “I think I’ll find a way to bruise you a little more, Shiv.” The promise made you realize that your lips had swollen, bruised by his kiss. He let go, turning to walk back to his seat.
You reached up to rub at your eye, still dazed and flushed. Everything felt so... surreal, yet not. Taking a moment to try to gather yourself, you swallowed and turned. Hunter helped you up, and you teetered your way to Tech’s chair.
Tech caught you, easing you into his lap. “Are you alright, Shiv?” he asked.
You nodded. “I’m okay,” you murmured, almost dreamily. You reached down, touching his hand that rested on your waist gingerly. “Do you— do you want something? I always feel like-“ your eyelashes fluttered as you started to feel his emotions bleed over your Bond. “Like you keep wanting to ask me something.”
He swallowed. “I—“ He glanced nervously at you, then down to his hands.
You tilted your head. “You can tell me, Tech. Tell me through the Bond,” you murmured, reaching up to touch his cheek.
He shuddered, eyes closing. A hesitant thought slunk over the Bond. Can I... can you please... A non-verbal image bloomed.
You smiled a little, then reached up and pulled Tech’s head down to your chest as you leaned back a little. You brushed your fingers through his hair, gently letting your nails drag across his scalp.
He shivered with a quiet groan, his hands unconsciously clenching around your waist.
Leaning down, you pressed a soft kiss to his forehead. “Is this what you want?”
His head moved jerkily in a nod. “Please,” he groaned.
You let your hands move down his neck, dragging your nails across his shoulders, sweeping back up to bury in his hair. “Thank you, Tech,” you whispered softly, gratefully.
He looked up at you. “What? Why?” He sounded genuinely confused.
Your hands rested against his shoulders. “For always being honest with me. And being kind.” You offered him a shy smile.
He stared at you for a minute, seeming to drink in your face. “Do you- are you happy? I mean, with me?” His eyebrows furrowed uncertainly. “I did sort of... blurt-“
“Tech.” You closed your eyes, then, and reached out to all of the Bonds. “This is how I feel. About all of you.” You let your own feelings pour into all of them, returning the flow of emotion.
You bared yourself, showing them. How deeply you trusted them. How much you respected them, looked up to them. The things that you admired about them: their strength, their acceptance of you, their uniqueness. How much you wanted their attention, how much you loved their kindness. How deeply they’d managed to crawl into your very soul, how much you belonged to them already.
Tech shuddered, almost collapsing into you, head leaning against your shoulder. Wrecker sighed from somewhere behind you. You could hear Crosshair let out a quiet huff of breath, and Hunter grunted.
Your fingers gently cupped Tech’s head against your shoulder, assuring yourself that he was okay. It took you by surprise when his head abruptly tilted up, his lips finding yours. You let out a little noise of surprise, hands still cupping his cheeks. The desperation that colored Tech’s kiss had your heart fluttering as you hummed softly with contentment.
“Shiv,” Tech mumbled against your lips, his nose brushing yours.
“I’m here,” you murmured back.
His eyes closed, and he tilted his head to kiss you again. His kiss was hungry, needy, full of a soft sort of desperation that made you want more. His mouth begged you for attention, opening against yours in a way that pleaded for you. He almost whined into the kiss, and you had to brush your fingers against his cheeks as you answered.
“You’ll stay with us, Shiv?” Tech asked thinly, as though making sure before he surrendered.
You nodded. “As long as you want me... I’ll stay,” you promised.
“Forever, then,” Wrecker piped up, clearly pleased.
You fell asleep against Tech, lulled by the lingering emotions.
Forever.

Tumblr media
Hunter:
----- Before -----
🔴 He's very strict but for a good reason. You are his only child and he would do anything to protect you.
🔴He was scared that is anyone found out about you they would kill you or use you in experiments so he didn't tell anyone.
🔴On his days off he would go to see you and spend time with you. He would train you in knife fighting and self defence.
🔴Sometimes you felt the training to be more like a life or death situation than bonding time but you loved him anyway. Any time with your farther was well spent.
🔴The batch would ask questions about where he's been but he would ignore the questions knowing anything he said about it even a lie might give you away.
🔴Crosshair would often tease him about his time off. Often saying things like
🔴"he went to see his lover. Oh how sweet the star crossed lovers are"
🔴Hunter would just roll his eyes and get on with the job. The teasing was normal to him.
----- After -----
🔴After fleeing from crosshair his mind went straight to you. His child was in danger and he knew he had too come and get you
🔴Telling the others about you was hard but seeing omega light up at hearing about another child made him feel better
🔴They got there just in time. The home you stayed in was burning to the ground and you were on the run, the empire hunting you.
🔴Hunter manged to get you away and introduce you to the rest of the family. You had heard of them and took quite well to the members of the batch especially omega
🔴Hunter before more protective of you. When going onto a planet he would either make you stay on the ship or stick to him like glue
🔴Over time he started to calm down seeing how you can handle yourself in a fight. He was proud of you and one time sat down with you and told you that.
🔴He would try his best to talk to you instead of demanding you to do something like he would with his brothers. He was trying to be more of a full time farther to you than a leader
🔴Heart to hearts was something you two would often have especially after a stressful Situation. You would sit togeather often late at night with a hot drink and just talk. It was a peaceful moment you both cherished.

Tech:
----- Before -----
🟠 He's not good with kids so when he found out he had one he panickled.
🟠Emotion wasn't his strong point so didn't know how to feel about it so he turned to the only thing he knew... Logic
🟠It took him A few hours to figure things out but once he did he realised that he wanted you around
🟠The only people he told about you were Hunter and echo. He knew he could trust the two to keep a secret and look after you if anything happened to him
🟠When he got to spend time with you he would teach you new things, one day it could be about the planet he resently went to and the next maths
🟠You could talk to him about any problem you had and he would help solve it even if it was by being a bit to blunt about things but in a way you found that comferting
🟠After every mission he would write a letter about his trip and things he wanted to tell you or say to you but he'd never send them. He would put them in an envelope and hid them
🟠 The letters were for if he died. He knew better than anyone that he could die in battle and he didn't want to just leave you not knowing how much he cared for you. He told hunter and echo if anything happened to him take the letters to his child.
----- After -----
🟠The escape was rough on all of them but he knew where he wanted to go. He flew right to where your home was. He found out before he left that the empire knew about you
🟠Strangely enough hunter and echo didn't ask where they were going and he appreciated that. He just wanted to get you away from any harm
🟠Thankfully you were fine and happily joined your farther on the ship meeting the others that you knew all about thanks to your farthers stories.
🟠 Tech had to explain to wrecker about you quite quickly before pulling you away saying he needed your help with the ship
🟠Tech would often have you fixing the ship along with echo and you would often have to remind him that something are impotent to fix than others.
🟠Spending a few days with your farther was great but now your stuck on a ship with him for a few months now and you two had gotten into a lot of fights. Mainly over him not understanding your emotions and him. Being too logical
🟠 Sometimes you would go days without talking to each other and it was echo who pointed out what tech should do
🟠One day he sat down with you and pulled out a large box handing it to you. It was the letters he wrote. He told you how important you are to him and how he's sorry he might not show that. You two made up and he tried his hardest to show more emotion around you than logic.

Wrecker:
----- Before -----
🟡 The fun loving dad. He loves you more than life and even made you your own Lula doll.
🟡He told his brother about you right away and they were shocked. He was so happy he wanted to tell everyone but hunter and tech told him not to
🟡After they explained to him why he became worried for you and kept you away from Kamino.
🟡Any time he had off he would come and see you dragging one of his brothers along to see you. He would say family is everything so you had to know them.
🟡He would also bring you toys to play with even if you were too old for that stuff and you would make him things which he would keep hidden under his bed back home.
🟡Life was more fun with him around. You'd get piggy back rides, play games, tell stories and you both cryed when ever he had to leave
🟡When you were old enough he would start teaching you things he knew. He wanted you to be strong so no one would mess with you when he was away.
🟡He would teach you self defence and how dombs work but thanks to the people you lived with he would never be aloud to bring one for you to see. He would have to draw it out
----- After -----
🟡You were the first thing on his mind when things went wrong. He was pacing in the prison cell muttering to himself and getting angry.
🟡Hunter was the one to calm him down and tell him that you will be fine and that when they get out of here they will go get you first.
🟡The fight out hurt his head and heart. Crosshair had betrayed him and since crosshair knew about you that means your in danger.
🟡Wrecker got to you first and begged you to come with him. You were scared but you trusted him and agreed
🟡Over time you noticed a change in your farther. He kept getting beaten a lot and he kept holding his head. You started to worry and tried to take care of him along with omega
🟡You, wrecker and omega were like the three musketeers, ready for a fight and had a good laugh. You felt whole now that you were with your real family but that didn't stop you from worrying about your farther
🟡Learning about the chip scared you but what scared you more was the thought of your farther trying to kill you. You kept a close eye on your farther until it was time.
🟡He scared you when he changed. He tried to kill his brothers and then went after you and omega. It it wern't for Rex you might be dead. After he got the chip out he apologised and you hugged him. Just happy he's back to nornal
Tumblr media
Crosshair:
----- Before -----
🟣He didn't know what to do with you. He treated you like you were glass. He never hugged you and it hurt.
🟣You became more angry and felt left out. When he would come to see you it was very rare and it was mainly filled with silence. You'd asked the odd question and talk about what happened while he was gone but he wouldn't say much
🟣On his day off he got a call from one of the people looking after you. You had gotten into a fight and were hurt but the other kid was worse. He came down as soon as he could.
🟣You expected him to be mad at you, to yell but he didn't. He ran over to you and looked you over. Seeing your busted lip and bruised arms made him mad and worried and for the first time he hugged you
🟣You cryed for the first time infront of him and hugged him back. He asked you all kinds of questions and after you told him what happened and how the kid had been picking on you for months he got madder but not at you
🟣He took you away from that place and brought you to kamino. They let you stay but under a few conditions. They wanted to draw some blood and you had to help out around the base.
🟣After agreeing and getting your own room crosshair introduced you to his brothers. They welcomed you with open arms and for once you saw your farther smile.
🟣He became very open with you. Telling you Things he would never tell his brothers and teaching you how to use a rifle.
----- After -----
🟣The shift in your farthers attatude scared you. He stopped confiding in you and when ever you asked him Something he would ignore you or just glare.
🟣When the rest of the batch left with omega you had the chance to go with them but you couldn't leave your farther behind.
🟣The empire kept you safe and away from your farther. You faught them on it but soon found out crosshair didn't want you around. It broke you but you couldn't do anything about it
🟣Crosshair saw you as a mistake thanks to the chip but once it was taken out his mind was clear. He got out of bed despite the doctors telling him not to and went Off to find you
🟣Once he found you he told you how sorry he was and explained everything. You didn't trust him right away but over time his actions showed he wanted you around and he wanted to be your farther
🟣What the chip made him do to you broke his heart and he did everything he could to make it up to you even taking you on missions when you asked to go.
🟣He kept you close so no one could touch you, he didn't fully trust his new crew so never left you alone with them
🟣He kept training you and talked to you about the desition he has made and if you were OK with it. He wanted you to stay but he didn't want to make you feel tapped.

Echo:
----- Before -----
🔵 You were born before he got blown up at the citadel and the kaminoans found out about you quite quickly. They took you to kamino where they studied you for years and raised you.
🔵You had no idea who your farther was until you met fives. He found out about you while looking into the chip and managed to talk to you
🔵From that day you decided you had to find your farther, something didn't sit right with you, it felt off the way he died and for some reason you felt he was alive.
🔵Your efforts paid off and the bad batch and the 501st found him. You went to talk with him and he was shocked but took it quite well. He told you about your mother and was happy to have you around
🔵Life was no where near normal for him now. Not only did he have cybernetic parts but a teen to look after. He took to it quite well though acting more like a mum than a dad on occasions.
🔵He refused to let the kaminoans do anymore tests on you and kept you close to him. You helped him when he needed it and he helped you.
🔵Education was very inportant to echo so he made sure you studied and did well in classes. He didn't want you to be like him, a soilder. He wanted you to have a real life outside of war.
🔵He would have to leave you to go on missions but he would make sure you were looked after. One of his many brothers or shaak ti would look after you
----- After -----
🔵After the ship left kamino for the last time everyone could take a breath. Echo made sure you were OK and told you things will get better
🔵He felt like he failed you. You were supposed to have a better life and now you were on the run with no home.
🔵He started to get more grumpy and snappy but would always apologise to you if he directed it at you.
🔵He tried to hide his worries and conserns from you but one day it all spilled out while you two were alone. He was surprised to find you being more of an adult and calming him down.
🔵He realised he raised you right despite the early learnings from the kaminoins and knew you could flourish in any situation
🔵He often asks for your help around the ship. He's one man, tech doesn't always help and hed be dead if he let wrecker help.
🔵More and more you would cone out on missions with them. He knew you could help but also he didn't want to lose sight of you. He was scared of losing you
🔵While on missions he would be quite bossy with you. Telling you what to do and where to go. It annoyed you at first until you realised he was doing all of it to keep you safe.
