Hey! I love your work :) Could I please request something along the lines of 'insecurities' for the Silver Springs head cannons? Thanks either way <3
Thank you!!! I love this idea and mostly focused on earlier relationship stuff, but I definitely could see writing a 2nd or 3rd part too.
Insecurities pt. 1 (they have a lot ๐ข)
Warnings: angst, references to violence
(Wanda)
When Wanda met you, it didnโt take her long to realize how nice you were. You always said โpleaseโ and โthank youโ, and you refused to badmouth anyone unless they were truly terrible. Even then it was like pulling teeth. Sheโd seen how you never hesitated to offer someone help, and whenever the task was done, youโd never asked for anything in return.
Wanda loved this about you. She loved how you were so thoughtful and she wasnโt used to being around people like you. Given what she did for a living, the people who she interacted with werenโt nice as much as they were compliant or respectful due to their sense of obligation or fear. You werenโt like that. You offer something different that she really appreciates, and she wishes she could be the same way.
Before you really knew about what she did for a living, sheโd always been afraid of scaring you away. Of course, the illegal aspect was a concern, but she was mostly worried about you seeing her differently. She isnโt the same person with you as she is with her employees or anyone else that she works with. Sheโd learned early on that she had to be tough to keep peopleโs loyalty, and sometimes even mean when people failed to meet her expectations. She didnโt make a habit of it, but she couldnโt say that sheโd never hurt people to make a point, and she just knew that you wouldnโt be okay with this.
Needless to say, most of Wandaโs insecurities revolve around her job, but this was the earliest one. If you found out who she really was, and how she treated people when you werenโt around, she feared she would lose all of your respect.
For this reason, when you finally learned about her job, you both had agreed that the less you know, the better. Youโd rather not have to fear that Wanda would be hurt all the time, and Wanda wants you to remain blissfully unaware of how cruel she could be.
Later in your relationship when you were kept busy in school, Wanda realized that you were often lonely. She wasnโt able to spend time with you very often because most of her work took place at night, and when sheโd go a week or more without seeing you she always feared that youโd grow impatient.
Youโd told her that you understand that her hours are horrible, but she knew that you wished to spend time with her either way. After a long day of classes and an afternoon of studying, you just wanted to curl up on the couch with her and watch a movie, or just relax. You got to do this maybe once a week, maybe once in two weeks. It wasnโt always the easiest, and sometimes you grew frustrated and you didnโt hide it well.
Especially on tough days, Wanda would hear in your voice how tired and disappointed you were, and it always made her feel guilty.
You deserved better than being lonely while you wait around for her to show up.
In those first few months, and even later in your relationship when things got really busy, she worried that youโd finally call it quits and find someone who could spend more time with you.
(Y/n)
Youโve never really felt like you were good enough to be with Wanda. Even before Vision came into the picture, the idea that this successful, beautiful, and secretly bashful woman wanted to be with you seemed comical. You werenโt exactly a slouch, but compared to her you feared youโd never measure up.
It took you at least a month to believe that Wanda really was interested in you for you, and not any other reason. You hadnโt really dated anyone before her, so everything was new and you honestly never thought youโd start at such a disadvantage.
Wanda seemed to always know what to say to make you smile. She could make you laugh like no one else could, and you felt comfortable with her. This was something that you werenโt sure youโd ever find as an introvert. Someone that you wanted to be around more than you wanted to be alone, and it was a little overwhelming.
You tried to follow her examples and put in the effort to make her happy, but sometimes you let yourself become intimidated. You liked Wanda a lot, but how long could you really humor the idea of being with her given your very different career trajectories?
Sometimes you overthought it to the point that you considered breaking up with her. You didnโt want to put her at risk or hold her back. When you first learned of how dangerous it could be for the two of you to be together, youโd considered calling it quits.
You didnโt want to because at that point youโd truly fallen head-over-heels in love with her, but was that really enough?
Youโd taken a leap of faith and decided that the two of you could figure it out together. The two of you were good together and she loved you. Sheโd told you she did.
You were feeling good about your relationship for a while.
Then you met Vision. **
The very first time youโd visited the compound you ran into Vision and he made you feel insignificant within the first 30 seconds of talking to him. Youโd begun to doubt your worth again to anyone, especially Wanda and you left feeling defeated.
You hadnโt wanted to bring it up with Wanda because youโd already discussed these feelings you had and she thought they were resolved. Youโd hate to bring them back up and upset her, but the decision is taken away from you in the end.
Beyond feeling like youโre not good enough for Wanda, the more you learn about her job the more incapable you feel of taking care of her.
You know sheโs tough and doesnโt need your help, but you wish you could offer it sometimes. Especially when she comes home a little worse for wear after a deal goes particularly poorly. The first time Wandaโs shot, you panic and ask Nat to teach you how to use a gun.
You want to be more prepared for whatever may come for both your and Wandaโs sake. You donโt want to be a liability if you can help it.
**I have a drabble planned for this unfortunate interaction
hi i saw ur tags on that klonoa post you reblogged from me and i doubt this is the response you wanted but i like talking abt things, sorry this is so long. so basically klonoa is this game series and simialr to so many others the main character is also named klonoa so hopefully this doesnt get too confusing hsgdhgshds . the first game is called klonoa door to phantomile and was originally released for the playstation 1 but has been ported over the ps3 via the psn and also has had two different remakes (one from 2008 for the wii just titled 'klonoa' and another from earlier this year called 'klonoa phantasy star reverie series' which is on etty much every modern gaming console including pc) so theres lots of ways to play it nowadays. the second game in the series, lunatas veil, was only ever released for ps2 up until the fantasy star reverie series game out cuz that also included a remake of it. theres some side games for handheld consoles too but theyre generally hard to come by and a good few were never released outside of japan so there arent any official translations and theres pretty much no way to play it legally . anyways basic run down of the games themselves, klonoa is like. this cute funny animal mascot platformer except its themed around dreams and its in 2.5d and actually uses that aspect to come up with really cool puzzles plus klonoas moveset is very simple its just jumping hovering and grabbing/throwing enemies but it all works in a way where you can use it in such precise and intricate ways that theres a lot of really cool tricks you can pull off if you know what youre doing and just man the gameplay its so good okay. not to mention the story . ive only played through door to phantomile so far but MAN that game is so charming and fun and then just absolutely rips your heart out its wild. overall its a very fun heartfelt series with stellar gameplay and genuinely great storytelling. its like if you mashed kirby and sonic together, in my opinion at least lmao. anyways uhm its good super underrated and i love it so so so much sorry for the like full blown essay lmao ๐
thank you for infodumping in my inbox my friend i love hearing people talk abouy things they like!!! /gen
also ive never seen any gameplay of it but it looks fun!!!! if it's on switch i might check it out :0
BIG WARNING FOR PIKMIN 4 SPOILERS! (and the rest of the series)
โโโ
I want to preface this by saying that I am in no way trying to be the end-all, be-all of character interpretations, but Pikmin 4 to me, at least, confirms the suspicions Iโve had since playing Pikmin 2 and 3 all those years ago that Louie ISNโT secretly evil, or possessed, or whatever else. Heโs justโฆ Louie. And I think thatโs interesting in and of itself.
1. Olimar himself vouches for him, and clearly doesnโt think heโs a bad person.
Say what you will, but Iโm inclined to think Olimar is a decent judge of character. Clearly heโs worked with Louie for enough time to see that while heโs not very good at his job, heโs not intentionally soโ at least not in a malevolent way (will get more into this later). He also wants you to forgive him for Olimarโs sake, which can be read as self-sacrificing (as Olimar is known to be) but I also think hints at the soft spot he has for Louie.
It's also worth noting that he states during a end-of-day conversation that he told Louie that, since he's a new employee, he should do everything Olimar does... including throw castaways into the onion. Interesting that Louie took this so literally, but it does provide an explanation for why he kidnapped the Koppaites beyond "he's evil and crazy".
2. He really, REALLY loves his grandma.
Like, wow. He talks about her SO MUCH both in his Piklopedia entries and also elsewhere in the game. It's interesting. Worth noting is that he never mentions any other family members- unlike Olimar, who talks about his wife and each of his children independently. I've said this before, but the content of a lot of these entries implies to me that Louie was mainly raised by his grandma, likely since birth. And given some of her emails in Pikmin 2, assuming they're also canon to Pikmin 4's timeline... Well, Louie certainly had an interesting upbringing. But he clearly loves her all the same.
3. He has a mischievous streak and tends to do things on impulse.
This was already fairly obvious from the previous games, but I think it's worth noting that this game confirms that he's... would immature be the right word? In any regard, he doesn't seem to see himself as a "grown-up"- when in all likelihood he is. Personally, as a 22-year-old, I find that pretty relatable as I often think of myself as younger when in reality I am by all definitions an adult. This, along with his grandma still being around, makes it pretty much certain that Louie is a lot younger than Olimar and the president, likely in his early to mid twenties. Being a bit of a goofball isn't really out of the ordinary, all things considered.
THAT BEING SAID, he's clearly capable of practicing self-restraint when he wants to. What he says here about the red Pikmin is pretty significant, since we know he's willing to eat just about anything- but clearly he has some reservations about creatures that are friendly and helpful. Which leads to...
4. He loves dogs and fluffy things.
Same. But he doesn't even consider eating Moss, Oatchi or the Ancient Sirehound, showing that his creature-eating habits stop at things he recognizes as useful. He clearly also holds affection for things that are soft and fuzzy, and says as much.
5. He is so autism.
He plays with fidget toys. He loves certain textures and sounds. This guy is stimming all over PNF-404!!! I think this also lends some explanation for why his behavior is what it is- things like taking Olimar's suggestion to do as he does super literally even after crashing on an alien planet, his hyperfixation on cooking and tendency not to communicate and incorrectly interpret situations (thinking the Koppaites are kidnappers in 3, running away from you in 4). He could even be low or no empathy as well, explaining why it takes a hot minute to get him to understand why people are upset with him about something.
Interestingly this game also makes it clear that Louie wants to live on the planet, or at least thought he did while you were chasing him down, which makes a lot of sense when you consider that he doesn't really seem to fit in back on Hocotate. I, too, wish to run away to an alien world with all of the things that I like and no other people, so I get you, Louie.
6. He hates his boss and his job, and the golden pikpik carrot incident was likely premeditated.
This probably looks bad, but honestly? As a fellow work-hating anti-capitalist schmuck I get it. The president is for all intents and purposes a huge asshole, from sending Olimar straight back to the planet after selling his ship to not caring that Louie got left behind, just wanting to find the rest of the treasures. I doubt he is very kind to his employees, and doesn't seem very good at running the business. Definitely a funny character, but if he were my boss I would absolutely want to punt him into the sun.
From some other entries he clearly wants to sell certain things to accrue money, but it's for things like getting better kitchen tools and following his dream to have his own cooking show. Clearly being a freight driver isn't what Louie actually wants to do with his life, and he could not give less of a shit about what happens to the company. Very short-sighted on his part, but also again, yeah I get you Louie.
7. He... doesn't like the color red for some reason.
Honestly, I'm not even really sure what to make of this. Is it because it reminds him of the Hocotate ship? Or does he just not like the color? Would be very interesting considering that it's Olimar's signature color. Perhaps that's at least part of why he attacks you in Pikmin 2- though that's speculation for another day.
Also funny to me is his comments on the black-colored treasures. We know blue is his favorite color, but I guess he's also a bit of a goth at heart. Lol.
In conclusion.
I think Louie isn't written or intended to be evil, and Pikmin 4's portrayal of him was intentionally written to confirm this. He's just, as some have said, an agent of chaos, but that doesn't make him a bad person. Just an autistic 20-something working a shitty job he doesn't care about, who loves his grandma and has a mischievous streak and a hyperfixation on food. At least from what I can interpret, ymmv!
