DEFENDER, PROTECTOR, & WARRIOR OF THE FOREST -- PRINCESS OF THE WOLF GODS.
PIC(S) INFO: Spotlight on San, the "Wolf Girl Princess," from the 1997 Japanese animated feature film from Studio Ghibli, "Princess Mononoke," directed by Hayao Miyazaki. Artwork/colors by Jim Lee, c. summer 2018.
"Lee has spoken about his love for manga and anime in many public forums. He reportedly cited manga styles as an influence in his iconic "Punisher: War Journal" series in the 1980s, and in recent years he has said that his kids have drawn his attention back to the genre.
During panels, con appearances and podcasts, Lee has often mused about how his daughters are more interested in manga and anime than Western superheroes.
"My kids, they draw huge eyes on all their figures," he said, laughing at the Canadian National Comic Expo in 2006. "What's up with that? Why is everything backwards? You don't want to put color on it?"

Jim Kelly was a prominent African-American martial artist and actor, best known for his roles in the "blaxploitation" films of the 1970s.
Kelly was born on May 5, 1946, in Paris, Kentucky, and grew up in San Diego, California. He began studying martial arts as a teenager and quickly excelled, earning a black belt in karate. He became a popular tournament fighter in the 1960s and 1970s and won numerous championships.
Kelly's big break in film came in 1973 when he was cast in the lead role in "Enter the Dragon," a martial arts movie starring Bruce Lee. Kelly's performance as Williams, a wisecracking, afro-wearing martial artist, made him an instant icon and helped to popularize the blaxploitation genre.
In the years that followed, Kelly starred in a number of other martial arts and action movies, including "Black Belt Jones," "Three the Hard Way," and "One Down, Two to Go." He also continued to compete in martial arts tournaments and worked as a martial arts instructor.
After retiring from acting in the 1980s, Kelly remained involved in martial arts and was active in promoting the sport and encouraging young people to get involved. He passed away on June 29, 2013, at the age of 67. Jim Kelly's contributions to the martial arts and film industries continue to be celebrated today.

31 Days of Dick (Grayson)
Day 12. Nightwing comic artist

Wonder Woman (1987) #165
This two are tied for me because both draw Nightwing in a very similar manner, lol. I love that while Dick is drawn to look pretty, they still give him an air of maturity

🎨 Jim Lee: X-Men Cover Art {34 Best} / Era: 1990s X-Men
A few things happened when Jim Lee was the head artist on X-Men. We saw sales blow up like never before and have not been matched since. Chris Claremont departed the series after being the head writer for 15 years. Having been a reader at the time I can say that despite these being some of the best drawn X-Men ever up to that point, the writing was off, the pacing was slow and these were actually very difficult to get through reading wise. Some say it is because Jim Lee flexed and wanted to also be writer. Lastly the characters (both male and female) were drawn with more sex appeal than they ever had been before.

For my birthday this year, my wife bought me not one but TWO of these LEGO Art sets from the Jim Lee Batman Collection! What this allowed me to do was combine them to create an epic Batman and Catwoman portrait made up of over 4,700 pieces (which now hangs in my classroom for all my students to enjoy)! 🎨
The included soundtrack was also very interesting to listen to while I built, and featured an in-depth conversation with world renowned comic book artist, writer, editor, publisher and Chief Creative Officer of DC Jim Lee, as well as his longtime colorist and collaborator Alex Sinclair. Definitely a fun and rewarding experience all around!
