That's actually a kind of complicated question for me to answer. Going by YouTube Music's genre classification, (yes I'm one of THOSE people) about 50% of the music I've been listening to recently is "Pop music", about 20% is "EDM", and another 20% is "Independent music". If that's enough to answer your question then no need to keep reading, but those are pretty broad categories in my opinion. So here's just a top 5 of my most listened-to artists from my "summer recap" to paint a better picture:
1. Avril Lavigne- recently found I liked quite a few of her songs and I imagine they are responsible for a good portion of that 50% pop music stat. "Girlfriend-Junkie XL mix" and "What the Hell" were my 2 most played songs of the summer.
2. Betty Who- she's not super well-known as far as I'm aware but I really enjoy her music styling. I find her song "Weekend" very amusing as it is one of the most unabashedly horny songs I've ever seen a female artist create. I'd also recommend "Runaways".
3. Raynes- fairly certain they're sort of an independent British band with three guys who all play the guitar. Seem as though they're the type to wear flannel even if it's like 75°F out (That's 75°C for you metric users). "Come My Way" and "Tie Me Up" are probably my favorite two from them.
4. Misterwives- I'd say they, more than anyone else I listen to, seem to fit my idea of "independent music". The vocal mixing is less polished, making it feel more like a band with a small following. But what can I say, I'm a sucker for a really strong brass section. "Not Your Way" is definitely my favorite song from them. I also get "Easy" stuck in my head a lot.
5. Gryffin- EDM producer guy. I've had a lot of his songs on my playlist in the past and could easily make a top 10 based on just his stuff, but this summer I was mostly listening to "Colors" and "Forever" from him.
im listening to the song acapella by karmin and i just realised the line is “never ever go dutch at the buffet” which may i say, makes more sense than what ive been hearing for 11 years
