it’s hard to be in a relationship when your siblings don’t like your boyfriend. especially your older sister mindy. being the youngest meeks-martin had its ups and down. and one of the downs is trying to get your sister to like ethan, your boyfriend.
“i don’t get it chad, she acts like ethan is going to slice me up and kill me.” chad hits you with a “really” look, making you sigh. “ok bad wording, but you know him! he’s your roommate. the dorky roommate who couldn’t even talk to me.” you flop down next to your brother on sam and tara’s couch. chad nudges you and grabs your hand. “look y/n, you have too understand why mindy feels this way. you’re our little sister. we can’t lose you.” you were just about to respond until your phone goes off. you pull it out you pocket and smile when you see ethan’s name and a picture of him anf you on your first date.
“answer loverboy, i’m going to go see if they need any help in the kitchen.” chad gets up and walks towards the kitchen where the rest of the gang was. you slide accept on the phone. “hey e, i was just about to call you. are you close?” you ask, you can hear the busy streets of new york in the background. “yeah i’m like five minutes away, uh i just called to make sure it’s okay im still coming over.” you giggle at your boyfriend. “of course it is why wouldn’t you think so?” you hear ethan sigh and take a breath, “well y/n it’s no secret that mindy doesn’t like me, and quite frankly i’m scared of her.” that makes you laugh. “hey it’s not funny. she can be mean.” you can hear the pout through the phone. “it’s going to be all good, i promise.” ethan reluctantly sighs, “ ok, i’ll see you soon.” you smile even if he can’t see it. “ok bye sweets.”
you hang up the phone and walk towards to kitchen, to see the sam, mindy, chad and tara looking at you in silence. “god who died in here.” you joke which receives a smack on the arm from chad. “oh nothing just talking about you and your romantic lover.” tara says in a sing songish way, making you giggle. you sit down and look at your sister who just glares at you. “oh come on mindy you still can’t be mad i invited ethan.” she scoffs and rolls her eyes. “y/n what have i told you. never trust the love interest!” you shake your head especially because she being hypocritical about this. “oh yeah how about you and your girlfriend, huh?” you retaliate. “ hey my girlfriend isn’t a werid, antisocial, nerdy boy who could be a killer.”
“who’s a killer?” you all turn around to see your boyfriend standing there awkwardly. “nobody’s a killer ethan, although i’d kill for this conversation to be over.” sam jokes but nobody laughs. you look at mindy who’s just staring at ethan and it makes you angry. angry that your own sister can’t trust your boyfriend or you. standing up put the attention on you, “hey tara can me and ethan talk in your room?” tara smiles at you and shakes her head yes. you start walking towards ethan and towards tara’s room. “make sure you keep the door open i don’t want any funny business!” mindy tells you making you give her the middle finger in return. “you don’t think there fucking do you?” mindy asks the group but their silent. “oh they are definitely sleeping together.” chad whispers underneath his breath shuddering as he remembers what he walked into last week going back to his dorm.
you lead ethan through tara’s and go to the door and lock it. you then go and sit on her bed and pat the spot next to you offering it too ethan. which he accepts and sits next to you. “how much did you hear.” ethan shrugs, “oh you know that i’m a werid, antisocial freak who’s also a killer. the usual from mindy.” you sigh and lean your head on his shoulder, to which he puts his arms around your waist. “i’m sorry e, i really am.” he kisses the crown of your head. “it’s ok y/n. she’s just trying to keep you safe.” you laugh how could he be so understanding and sticking up for a women who hates him.
you lay your head on his chest and listen to his heart beat for a few moments. “i know it’s hard for her to accept that i’m an adult now but it’s hard when your sister doesn’t like the boy you love.” you can feel ethan’s heart start to pick up as you said that, making you wonder if you said something wrong. you raise up from his chest to see him looking at you with those brown puppy dog eyes you love so much. “you love me?” you giggle and lean into his face to where your just mere centimeter from his lips. “of course i love you. i love the way you stutter when your flustered or the way you can go on about your favorite tv show. how i can be stuck on any subject and you always help me. i love the way you look at me like i’m the only person in the world, like it’s only us.”
ethan leans in closing the small gap in between you and kisses you. it’s a soft reassuring kiss. a kiss you want to last for ever but sadly it can’t. you pull away and rest your head against ethan’s. “i love you too and i would never hurt you.” he whisperes. you find it weird that he would say he wouldn’t hurt you but you brush it aside not to ruin the moment.
because of course he would never hurt you.
right?

A New Victim pt2
Sam Carpenter x Reader
Word Count: 1.6k
Notes: Will contain suspected Scream warnings eventually
Summary: Now you're a character in the story. It doesn't sit well with you.
Part 1 | part 3 | Masterlist
Tumblr media
“ No, she’s lying,” Chad dismissed your claims immediately. “ Remember what she said at the park. This is a fucking prank. It’s not real. He’s not he-“
“ Chad,” Mindy cut him off. “ Look at her.”
It was clear to everyone in the room that there was something wrong with you. That whatever emotions you were feeling were real.
The other selling point was that Sam herself was convinced that you were being honest. She was the most skeptical one of the group. However, there was no doubt in her mind that you were not deceiving them.
“ I was on my way home after you guys left. It felt like someone was watching me. I thought I was going crazy, but then I looked around. He was across the street, watching me. He dragged his finger across his neck. I felt like I couldn’t move that’s when Sam bumped into me,” you recounted the events clearly.
“ He was watching us at the park,” Tara deduces.
Sam rubs her forehead, “ It probably looked like we were close. So the killer grouped you with us.”
“ What does that mean?” The fear in your voice made everyone at the group look at you with pity.
“ Welcome to the freak show,” Mindy says.
Anika shoves her girlfriend,” It means, that you’ve just got a bunch of new friends.”
“ Am I going to die?”
They group all share looks.
Sam puts her hand on your shoulder. There’s a fire in her eyes as looks at you, “ No, you’re not going to die. In this group we protect each other and that includes you now “
“ I think you should stay here for awhile Y/n,” Tara speaks softly.
You nod, still unable to fully process what this all means.
“ In the morning we can go to your place and pick up some of your stuff, ok?” This time the older Carpenter sister speaks to you.
You nod again. Your moments away from slipping back into the trance that you arrived in. Sam squeezes your hand lightly pulling you back into the light.
“ Y/n?”
You shake your head and stand abruptly, “ Can I use your bathroom real quick?”
Sam eyes you but agrees to take you, “ Follow me.”
Instead of escorting you to the public bathroom, she leads you to her room. You stand awkwardly as she rummages through her drawers.
She hands you some sweatpants and a t-shirt, “ Here, you can use my bathroom. Have a shower and um if you’re tired you can sleep in here.”
“ Thanks,” you’re grateful for the offer.
Usually you’d take a long shower, but you had a sense of paranoia about you. You were in there for less than 5 minutes.
Sam’s clothes feel big on you. They smell like her and that brings you some comfort. You quickly exit the bathroom to find her bedroom empty.
You stare at the bed for a long while debating on whether if you should lay there. You decide against it, thinking about where Sam would sleep if you were to take her bed.
You grab a pillow off her bed and then lay on the hardwood floor.  Sleep wasn’t going to come easy after the day you had. So you stared up at the ceiling trying to think about anything, but the killer.
“ Why are you on the floor?”
You turn to loom at the dark haired girl, “ I thought it’d be weird to take the bed from you.”
“ We’re going to share the bed,” Sam wasn’t asking or suggesting, she was telling you what it was going to be.
She extends her hand to help you off of the floor. You hesitantly grab it and she yanks you to your feet. Her grip is much stronger than you expected.
You slip into the bed, which is ten times better than the floor. Yet, you still don’t see yourself sleeping any time soon.
“ I’m going to shower really quick and then I’ll join you, ok?”
“ Ok.”
You want to wait for Sam. When she comes out you’ll go to sleep. That’s what you convince yourself. However it was far from the truth.
When Sam gets out of the shower and into the bed your heart rate spikes. She's so close, she smells like vanilla, her skin is ever so slightly touching yours.
“ Y/n,” she says your name gently.
“ Hm.”
She turns so her body is facing yours, “ You need to rest.”
You sigh, “ I can’t.”
“ You’re safe here.”
You shake your head, “ How can you be so sure?”
Sam grabs one of your hands. Her hands aren’t soft like you imagined. They are worked and rough, but for some reason that brings you comfort.
“ I’m not going to let him hurt you.”
“ He doesn’t want to hurt me, he wants to kill me.”
Your anxieties begin to rise again. It almost feels like you’re seeing him across the street again. He’s watching you and waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
“ Look at me, Y/n.”
There’s something behind her eyes. It almost scares you. It’s dark and nearly sadistic.
“ I’m not scared of Ghostface. It doesn’t matter who is behind the mask because it always ends up the same for them. Dead or in jail. I will make sure of it."
You want to ask about the first time, but you decide against it. Instead you just nod at the woman’s words. However Sam could still feel the anxiety coming out of you.
She was hesitant, but you wouldn’t have been able to tell. Her hand intertwined with one of yours. The feeling of her hand in yours causes you to blush. Something you hope that Sam doesn’t take notice of in the dark. She does, but she doesn't comment on it. She’s trying to process her own feelings of warmth.
You squeeze her hand lightly as a thank you and it makes her smile a bit. It’s somewhere in the softness of that moment that Sam decides she’s going to protect you no matter what it takes.

Just Talk To Each Other
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pairing: Sam Carpenter x fem!reader
Warning: none
Summary: since the last ghostface attack Sam continued her therapy and met you there. As the weeks passed by you guys grew close and feeling definitely grew between you guys. However neither of you were ready to say anything in fear of losing the other.
It was six in the morning and you and Sam were both up early eating breakfast and making light conversation. Neither of you couldn't sleep for some reason, so you both decided to wake up make breakfast and just talk.
The conversation wasn't deep or super meaningful but it was calming and nice to just be around each other. You both have been through pretty similar things and it was comforting to be around somebody who understands what you've been through. Although neither you nor Sam would ever admit it really you both like that you got each other without having to say anything. It was nice.
"Your birthday is Saturday. Have any plans on what you would like to do?" Sam asked.
You shook your head as you frowned a little. "My birthday has never been celebrated. My mom was always too high or drunk to remember and my father hated my birthday because it reminds him of the day his life was ruined and refused to even celebrate it." You told her. "So I never celebrate my birthday. It comes and goes without much of a thought from me."
That made Sam extremely sad to hear and she couldn't help but feel bad for you. "If you could have your dream birthday celebration what would it be?" She asked. You thought for a moment before answering. "Dinner with friends at my favorite restaurant, ice cream at that new shop that opened up and then watching my favorite movie." You said. "I know it's not much or huge but it's what I've always wanted. A day focused on me, doing what I want."
Sam immediately kept that in her mind because she was going to make your birthday the best day ever! She was going to hopefully change it so that you now look forward to it every year. She's going to change your life.
"Don't forget I have therapy today. So I'll be back later than usual." You said.
Sam nodded but knotted her eyebrows together. "Why would I forget that?" She asked. You chuckled a little. "Because you have a million things on your plate and you tend to forget things. Also I know how you freak out when I'm not home on time." You said.
Sam wouldn't admit that you were about that but you were. However nobody can really blame her considering everything she's been through the last two years. It was understandable that she would be worried if you're not home on time.
"So how are things going with the sisters? Any attacks recently?" Beverly asked.
You frowned at her obvious dig at Sam's killer bloodline. "Sam wouldn't hurt me or anyone. Those rumors aren't true." You snapped. Beverly laughed as she narrowed her eyes at you. "Y/N I just don't get how you can trust someone like Sam who's father was a killer. If I was you I'd keep my guard up around psycho girl." She said.
You were growing increasingly angry at the girl. "Sam isn't psycho and she wouldn't hurt me. In fact she's the only person in this city that I know for a fact I can trust." You said strongly. Beverly laughed at that and quickly turned to face you.
"Y/N don't you find it strange how everyone who's been around her always winds up dead. Everywhere she goes ghostface comes back decides to going on a killing spree. Amber, Ritchie and his family all dead after they met Samantha. Anika dead after she met Sam and her sister, along with kids she used to babysit all got seriously injured because of her!" She fired. "You are next if you continue being around the daughter of a killer."
The anger in your eyes grew but immediately disappeared when you looked passed Beverly and noticed Sam standing there. "Sam."
Sam was tense as she held a paper bag in her hand and glanced between you and Beverly. "I just wanted to drop off your lunch since you forget it this morning." She spoke softly. You slowly approached her and took her hand. "Thank you Sammy. You're amazing." You said honestly. Sam relaxed when you said that and smiled a little. "We'll talk later." She said. You nodded at that. "Ok."
After Sam left you unloaded on Beverly in a very quiet but sturn way and told her to watch her mouth when it comes to Sam. That she didn't know the girl or what happened and she can't talk about things that she doesn't even know the truth about. She knows Reddit forms and the rumors, she doesn't know the truth like you do so she in less words should shut up.
Leaving the sandwich shop Sam immediately put her hands in her pockets. She was taking what Beverly said to heart right now because they girl wasn't wrong. People who come in contact with her do get hurt, they do get killed and it haunts her. She knows her father being ghostface ruins everyone's first impression of her. People don't trust her because they think she'll be just like her father, when that's never been the case. She's nothing like him and she really wished people would understand that.
Sitting alone Sam couldn't help but think about Beverly's words. They haven't left her head. However she's not trying that hard to not think of them. Everything said was true and she knew that but she tried not to believe it because she knew herself. At least she thinks she does.
"Sam what are you doing here?" Tara asked when she saw her sister.
Sam shrugged, with her hands still in her pockets. "I, uh, wanted to see you. See how your day has been." She said quickly. Tara knew it was more but didn't push her sister to tell her, so she just let it go for now. "Things are fine. I have a pretty big project due next week so I'll be spending the night at Mindy's so we can work together." She said. Sam nodded as her eyes looked all over. "Uh before that do you think you could help me?"
Tara was shaking her head as she watched Sam try (and fail) at making a cake. She didn't understand how Sam could be such a great cook but completely failed when it comes to baking. It really doesn't make any sense.
"Sam, I love you, but buy a cake!" Tara says. "You can order it today and have it ready by Saturday."
Sam pouted but agreed because that was a much easier idea then her trying to do this. "I guess you're right." She mumbles. Tara looks at her and stepped closer. "You never bake. After the cake you made for my birthday you swore off baking." She said. "So what made you change your mind now?"
Sam played with her fingers while completely avoiding eye contact with her younger sister. "I wanted to do something nice for Y/N's birthday. I wanted her to know that she's special to me." She said. "Do something for her."
Tara knew what her sister was saying without saying it. She knew because she was the same way with Amber, but unlike you, Amber didn't appreciate it.
"I haven't known Y/N long but I do think that whatever you do she'll love." She says.
Sam sighs as she continued playing with her fingers. "I know, but she told me what she wants. She told me how she wants a day about her and doing things she likes. So I'm trying to do that for her." She said. "I just want her to know that she's not ignored."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Saturday came fast then expected and you found yourself wide awake in your room just wondering what today was going to bring you. Your birthday usually never felt any different from any other day of the year, but today it did. You could feel it in your heart that today was going to be different.
"Y/N are you up? I have something for you?" Sam said through the door.
You sat up and held a pillow close to you to protect yourself, for some reason. "Yeah I'm up." You called out. The door opened slowly and Sam came in holding a stack of pancakes in her hand. "First, happy birthday! And two, I've made pancakes because I know they're your favorite." She said softly. "I hope you like it."
You smiled as you took the plate from her. "Sammy this is great. Thank you so much." You said. Sam stood off to the side as she fiddled with her nails. "So what did you want to do? What are your plans?" She asked.
You shrugged as you cut up the pancakes. "I was thinking of getting take out and watching this movie I found. Nothing big." You said. Sam nodded as she looks at you. "Any thing else?" She questions. You felt confused by her question. "What else would we do?" You asked. "I mean, yes it's my birthday, but it's still just another day. Nothing special," you added.
Sam sits down at the edge of the bed. "Well, what have you been wanting to do that you haven't done?" She asked. You thought about it for a while because there was a lot you haven't done. "I would like to go to the museum. I never have been to one because my parents wouldn't let me and I have always wanted to go." Yo said. Sam smiles "done."
Standing at the entrance of the museum you couldn't believe that you were here. You thought it was all talk until you and crew actually arrived at the museum. You wanted to pay but they wouldn't let you. In fact Tara took your card and kept it on her so you couldn't pay for anything. Today was about you and they were all treating you to everything today.
Walking inside the group split up. They all went different directions, leaving you and Sam alone together. You smiled at her and took her hand as you led her towards the art section of the museum. Since you were an art major in college you loved learning about art. It was something you enjoyed doing in your free time.
As you two looked at the art on the walls you talked to Sam about everything you had learned about certain pictures. You told her what you remembered and she lit up as you explained things to her. It made your heart go crazy over the fact that she was obviously enjoying what you were telling her. People usually didn't care what you said, so having Sam actually care made you really happy.
Walking around slowly you and Sam held hands as you looked at everything. You guys made conversation about what you saw. You liked listening to Sam talk and it made you really happy that she was enjoying something that you liked. Her joy wasn't fake or forced and that was another positive about her. She was great.
Spending most of the day at the museum was an absolute dream come true for you! It was everything you imagined and more. Even though it was a very last minute plan Sam made every moment perfect. It was great.
Leaving the museum you and Sam were still holding hands as the group walked back to the car. Today has been great and you've only done two things. It was heartwarming that Sam would do this for you and you couldn't help but think about what you'd do to make it up to her because she really deserves this.
"Sam don't forget the cake!" Mindy blurted out, but quickly covered her mouth when everyone looked at her with harsh glares.
You looked at everyone. "What cake?" You asked. Sam was glaring at Mindy through the rearview mirror before looking at you. "I had a cake made three days ago for your birthday. It was supposed to be a surprise." She said. You smiled at her and took her hand. "I really appreciate that but I would have taken a box cake." You said.
"Oh Sam can't back. That's why she ordered one." Tara said easily, which made everyone laugh.
Sam rolls her eyes but smiled at you. "So would you mind picking up the cake first before we get food?" She asked. You shook your head. "Absolutely not."
Arriving at the cake shop Sam quickly gave the name of the order and waited with you as they went to go get the order. You looked at her. "Thank you for doing this. I really, really appreciate it." You said kindly. Sam smiled at you. "Don't mention it." She says. Things were quiet as you both locked eyes together, and it slowly felt like gravity was pulling you guys together. Neither of you stopped until you met in the middle and shared a kiss. It was quick and you both pulled away before things could go forward. Nothing was said as you both stood in silence together.
With the cake in hand you and Sam left in awkward silence as you got back in the car. You still sat next to her but neither of you said anything as she drove back home. You could really cut the tension with a knife but you both didn't know what to do. How do you talk about this? What do you say?
"Can we eat cake first before eating dinner?" Tara asked.
"Yeah I really want cake right now." Mindy added.
Sam speared you a quick glance before looking at the ground. "Only if it's ok with Y/N. It is her birthday and her cake." She said. Both Tara and Mindy looked at you, begging you to eat cake first. You sighed but smiled a little. "Go ahead. Have cake." You said easily. They both thanked you before running off to cut the cake.
After the cake had been cut and the food had been served the group gathered around the tv to watch the movie that you rented. It was a small indie film that had just been released to streaming and you were excited to watch. However things with Sam were still tense and you sat wondering if she was mad at you.
As the movie went on you just couldn't focus. Your mind was else where, wondering if Sam hated you. She has really talked much since the cake shpo and you were worried that she now hated you because of what happened. She must hate you for the kiss in the shop. Feeling overwhelmed you quickly excused yourself and left. You ran to the bathroom and locked yourself inside. You had to think.
"Ok what's going on?" Chad asked.
"Yeah you and Y/N have been acting weird since the cake shop." Tara pointed out. "So spill Sam."
Sam avoided eye contact with everyone as the played with her hands. "Uh... Well... We kissed. It was quick, very quick but we kissed." She said. They all looked at her and held back the burst of excitement they wanted to yell because they could tell that Sam was sad. "Then what's wrong?" Mindy asked. Sam frowned "I... Don't know. We didn't talk but things got so tense between us and I don't know what to do." She says. Chad, Tara and Mindy looked at her. "Talk to her Sam!"
Sitting alone you were trying to think of a way to talk to Sam and move past this. You hated the tension and you wanted to go back to how you were. However before you could think there was a soft tap on the door.
"Y/N can we talk?"
Slowly opening the door you were face with brown eyes staring right at you. "What did you want to talk about?" You asked softly. Sam closed her eyes for a second before opening them. It was taking all her strength to say what she was about to say.
"I like you Y/N. I've liked you for a while now but I never knew how to tell you. I'm not good with talking about my feelings, so sometimes I'll just react on them. I did that tonight because I couldn't hold back anymore. I just really-"
You cut her off by kissing her again. This time it was longer and filled with more passion as you poured everything you felt for her into that kiss. Since the moment you met Sam you liked her. She was beautiful, strong and had a great sense of humor. When you were alone you guys grew close. She knew things about you that nobody else did. You liked Sam.
Pulling away you smiled at her. "I like you to Sam. I always have." You said. Sam smiled and hugged you. "I'm really glad to hear that." She says. You laughed as you pulled away and smiled at her. Today has been one of the most amazing days ever and it's all thanks to Sam Carpenter.

Crazy Over You
Ethan Landry x M!Reader
Spoilers for scream 6!!!
Warnings: Angst and swearing
Summary: Y/n is the son of Stu Macher’s sister and is seeing visions of his dead uncle
Tumblr media
Y/n along with his mother were devastated about Vince’s death. Although Vince came home drunk from a bar every night y/n still loved his brother. Y/n’s mother couldn’t handle finding out her brother was a psychopath and killed people in their own childhood house and later died in that same house by itself, but now finding out that her one of her son’s died because of what her brother started she couldn’t handle it anymore.
She told y/n to pack his bags and they were moving to New York because she couldn’t handle living In woodsboro any longer. After y/n and his mother moved to New York, he went to study for college at Blackmore university.
There he met Ethan. Ethan was there for him 24/7, he comforted y/n when y/n needed him most. Ethan was a breath of relief for y/n. Y/n’s mother was not very fond of Ethan though, she thought he was ‘too good to be true’ and not in the nice way.
Ethan tried his best to get along with y/n’s mother but she refused. She warned y/n to be careful of Ethan before y/n moved to share a college dorm with Ethan and Chad.
“Why doesn’t your mom like me?” Said Ethan as he helped y/n pack his stuff into the dorm room.
By that time y/n still hadn’t told Ethan about his uncle being one of the original woodsboro killers.
“If I tell you, you promise not to tell anyone?” Said y/n.
“Yes y/n I won’t tell anyone you know me” said Ethan.
“Well, my uncle, he was a killer, he was apart of the original woodsboro massacre, he was Stu Macher” said y/n hoping Ethan wouldn’t freak out and break up with him.
Ethan just looked shocked, he didn’t know what to say.
“That is definitely not what I was expecting, but it doesn’t change the fact that I love you” said Ethan.
“Hey how about I introduce you to my friends so that you can get your mind out of that” said Ethan with a bright smile.
“Sure” said y/n happy that his boyfriend didn’t see him as a ‘monster’ or a ‘psycho’.
After y/n met all of the friend group. And he particularly became good friends with Sam and Quinn. Y/n recognized Sam from the rumors of her being the actual killer of the woodsboro massacre of 2021.
Sam later found out that y/n was the brother of Vince which also meant that he was Stu’s nephew. She and y/n shared the trauma of being related to one of the killers of the original woodsboro massacre. Y/n didn’t know why but he felt a special bond between him and Quinn.
Time skip to when they find the Shrine room
Y/n was devastated when he found out that his best friend Quinn died. That only left Sam and Ethan to be the only one that y/n was really close with. Y/n walked through the theater and looked around. He looked around and saw the Tv that killed his uncle. He sat on the steps as he saw a vision of his uncle.
“It’s nice to finally meet one of my nephew” said the illusion of Stu.
“I-I though you died” said y/n.
“I am dead, you’re just going crazy” said Stu.
“Why are you even in my head” said y/n.
“You know why I’m here y/n, you know you wanted to be the one to kill Amber and Richie for killing Vince, you know you crave the taste of blood” said Stu.
“Shut the fuck up!” Yelled y/n. All of a sudden y/n felt a hand on his shoulder.
“Babe who are you talking to” said Ethan. “Oh- Uh- no one, I’m fine” said y/n.
“Are you sure y/n?” Said Ethan.
“Yes Ethan just leave me alone” said y/n.
It hurt him to lie to his boyfriend but he didn’t know who to trust.
Time skip to killer reveals
“Surprise y/n” said Ethan as he unmasked himself as ghostface.
“Ethan..” said y/n hurt from his boyfriends betrayal.
“Mindy was right, it was easy to juke the roommate lottery, I mean all I had to do to meet you was to room with a conceded condescending alpha, literally named Chad, fuck it felt good to kill him!” Said Ethan.
“This was your grandmother’s Sam, Nancy Loomis, really runs I the fucking family doesn’t it?” Said Ethan pointing to the mask he wore.
“Speaking of family, my names not Ethan Landry! Is it dad?” Said Ethan.
“Dad?” Said y/n.
“If it’s you two that just leaves, Mindy?” Said Sam.
The third ghostface revealed themselves as Quinn. Y/n felt his heart drop, it was already heart shattering that his own boyfriend was the killer, and now his best friend too?
“Hey roomies, you didn’t see that one coming did you?” Said Quinn.
“Yeah because you died” said Tara.
“Kinda didn’t, though it was a good way to get off the suspect list, stab Gale weathers, stab Mindy on the train” said Quinn.
“Yep and I was first on the scene to make sure I could replace her body out with a fresh one, fake blood, a prosthetic, you’d be amazed at what a grieving father could get away with” said Bailey.
“I got Stu mask, your uncles mask y/n, he was my favorite” said Quinn.
“Wait a minute I never told you that I was related to Stu! Ethan? Did you tell her?” said y/n.
“Oh no you sweet dumb thing” said Ethan.
“Did you really think I didn’t know about you being Stu Macher’s nephew? Why did you think I even dated you to begin with!” Said Ethan.
That sentence broke y/n’s heart, Ethan only dated him because he was Stu’s nephew.
They start explaining they are Richie’s family
Y/n saw Tara hit Quinn with the brick as Kirby shot at Bailey. It was a blur, y/n still couldn’t move.
“Y/n…. Y/n!” Said the illusion of stu.
“Are you really going to let them betray you, and kill you! Fight back! Do you not get it! They are the family of the killer who killed your brother!” Said Stu.
Y/n had this sudden burst of energy. He saw Sam hit Ethan with the brick and take the knife out of Kirby’s stomach.
“Sam.. pick up the gun and go up there with Tara, and give me the knife” said y/n.
Sam gave y/n the knife as she went onto the balcony.
“What are you gonna do about it bitch?” Said Ethan.
Y/n started to stab Ethan repeatedly before Quinn pulled him off and held a knife to his throat.
“Y/n!” Said Tara.
Sam noticed and aimed the gun at Quinn but it went through both y/n and Quinn’s shoulder. Y/n tried to run away but Ethan cornered him.
“You wanna say hi to your uncle for me?” Said Ethan he stabbed y/n in the stomach and threw him on the ground.
Ethan was about to throw the tv on top of y/n’s head when Sam tried to shoot at Ethan. Y/n saw Ethan run as he started to pass out.
All of a sudden y/n heard a crash. He saw Sam and Bailey on the ground. Y/n shook Sam awake as she told y/n and Tara to hide in the bar area. As y/n was walking he saw Ethan’s ‘dead’ body.
“Did you do that?” Said y/n as they were walking up into the room.
“Yeah.. sorry about that” said Tara.
“No, it’s fine, kinda wish I was the one who got to kill him though”
Time skip to the final scare
Y/n saw Tara and Sam sitting on the steps while he thought about what just happened on the other side of the room. Y/n saw Ethan slowly get up to try and kill Sam and Tara. This gave y/n an idea. As Ethan went to go kill Sam and Tara y/n pushed the TV on top of his head.
“You can say hi to him yourself” said y/n smiling that he got the last laugh
A/n: ok so I have one last Ethan Landry idea and then I will get started on the Harlan Briggs fanfic :)

he is my worst enemy
Tumblr media
✨eddie munson✨ x fem!henderson!reader
PART TWO HERE!
requested by: nightshadered
summary: you and eddie do not get along whatsoever and one day when he comes over to your house to hang out with dustin, you realize you have a lot more in common than you thought <3
prompt included: "he is my worst enemy. my nemesis" "didn't you just meet him like five minutes ago?" "yes"
warnings: some language but that's it :)
**this is from my wattpad, simplytbs, from months ago! check out my wattpad for more stories!*
-------
When you walked Dustin to the first day of his new D&D club, you were instantly alarmed when you saw that Eddie Munson was the leader. The 'amazing' guy who has taken Dustin under his wing. You pulled Dustin aside and asked why he would ever join a group with Eddie, and Dustin simply defended him.
"Hey, Henderson!" Eddie paused and looked at you cautiously. "Why are you here?" He questioned.
"This is my sister," Dustin told him. Horror crossed Eddie's face.
"Oh." Was all Eddie said before walking away.
"He is my worst enemy. My nemesis." You said scornfully.
"Didn't you just meet him like five minutes ago?" Dustin questioned.
"Yes. Well, no. We've crossed paths before."
"Listen, Mike and Lucas are here too. If anything happens I will call you."
"Yeah unless he kills all three of you."
Ever since this day, you and Eddie constantly fight, bicker, and insult each other. You think he is an awful influence on Dustin, and you wish your little brother would just leave the group. You kept warning him that if Eddie turns out to be some psycho killer, not to go crying to you since you were right.
On today's episode of 'Eddie and Y/N fights 101,' you walked over to the Hellfire lunch table, giving Dustin the book that he needed for his class after lunch.
"To what do I owe this pleasure, your majesty," Eddie said, bowing to you.
"Just giving Dustin his book, asshat." You responded harshly.
"Can you two just be nice to each other for once?" Dustin asked.
"No." You and Eddie responded at the same time, giving each other a dirty look.
"See, you can already read each other's minds." Dustin pointed out.
"You're right Dusty-bun, we can. Eddie is thinking about how he wishes he could get a girlfriend and how badly he wishes he could destroy me. Probably how he can kill all of us with his satanic cult. Oh, and can't forget the whole not being able to graduate thing." You said, probably crossing a dangerous line.
"And Y/N is thinking about how to be a nice person. Oh wait, she isn't capable of that since she a cold-blooded reptile that can make an appearance of a human, or, somewhat of one." You stood there and crossed your arms aggressively. Eddie smirked because he knew he got you there.
"Enough! Just shut up!" Dustin shouted. You walked away and sat back down with your friends. Them asking you why you keep talking to Eddie 'the freak' Munson. Your head was somewhere else while they were questioning you, though. Did he really think you were a cold-blooded reptile? This remark bothered you more than any of the ones he has ever thrown at you. It stayed on your mind the entire day.
You were crawled up in your bed when you heard a knock on the door. Maybe Dustin forgot his key. You got up and opened the door, only to see Eddie standing there.
"Oh, hey, sorry. Dustin and I are supposed to hang out. I'm early." Eddie told you.
"He's not here." You said coldly, a sad look on your face.
"What's wrong?"
"Do you even care?"
"You seem sad," Eddie said. You left the door open and walked back to your room. Eddie closed the door behind him and followed you. "What's wrong, Y/N?" Eddie looked around your room and saw the rock music posters hanging, along with the guitar pick art you had on your wall and tapes and vinyl's lined up on your shelves.
"Nothing." You told him.
"I didn't know you were a metal head like me? I thought we had nothing in common." Eddie said, amazed.
"You're not a cold-blooded reptile, so we don't have anything in common." You said, throwing yourself down on your bed, curling up with a pillow. Eddie gave you a sad expression.
"That's what's bothering you? I once called you a whiny bitch, and that had no effect. Y/N, I do not think you are cold-blooded or a reptile." A tear ran down your face, and Eddie panicked. He had no clue what to do. "No no no no, don't cry! I'm sorry!" Eddie rushed over and sat next to you, wrapping an arm around you lightly, too scared to get too close.
"I can't believe I'm letting you see me cry right now." You said, laughing.
"See, you are fully human." Eddie said, trying to make you feel better. You laughed some more and buried your face in your pillow.
"Rock music is my favorite and I actually like D&D. I just never said anything because I didn't want you to think we had something in common." You said, muffled, pillow still in your face. Eddie laughed and pulled the pillow away. He lightly hit you with it, making you giggle.
"What else don't I know about you?" Eddie asked, facing you.
"I have a tattoo." You said, sheepishly. "If my mom knew, she'd become even more mental than she already is."
"Y/N Henderson has a tattoo? How did you even get one since you're not eighteen?"
"Steve took me." You answered.
"I'm sorry, Steve as in Steve 'the hair' Harrington?" Eddie was taken back, jealousy present.
"Yeah, we've been through a lot so him and I are close. We aren't a thing if that's what you are freaking out about." You told him.
"Why would that freak me out? I don't care." Eddie got nervous and started playing with his rings.
"Mhm." You smiled at Eddie. "I guess we do have things in common besides my brother." You said. "Don't tell him about this either, because he will never leave us alone."
"Trust me, I won't. He'll make my life miserable with a bunch of questions."
"Who will?" Dustin's body appeared in your room, confused as to why you and Eddie were somewhat snuggled on your bed together. You both looked at him, Eddie jumping out of your bed right away.
"You will if I left without even though you took forever to get here." Eddie joked, throwing his arm around Dustin's shoulder. The pair were leaving your room as Eddie turned around to smile at you. "See you around, Y/N."
"Since when do you two get along?" Dustin asked Eddie.
"Since forever, where have you been?"

part two will be a good one! sorry if there are any mistakes in here, i am exhausted and was trying to get this done

Autistic people with the same special interests (the two of you) are about to have a field day.
So. Repo! The genetic opera. The magnus archives. The Archival Repo!. The Repo! Archives.
Anyway
Shiloh is developing corruption
- bug collector
- not a full blown avatar but is kind of in the Jonathan Sims position to be influenced by a LOT of them
- feeds on Nathan’s anxiety (she thinks it’s her illness, but it’s more likely just dread that he’s a failure of a parent. He is.) (I love him why is he like that)
- 17 has her say “I always longed for true affection, but you compared me to a corpse”, so when she leaves at the end of the movie that signifies her evolution into an avatar (or rejection of it?) bc she is left with nothing but her bugs. We don’t really know
Nathan is either Slaughter or Hunt
- I definitely am more inclined for hunt for Nathan
- the hunting at the beginning and later when he and Shiloh are on the phone he definitely could do it a lot faster and less dramatically
- he definitely enjoys it is my point
- “thankless job” is also a prime example of his feelings on this job and or its moral implications
- obviously he’s unstable too and that influences jt but he kind of reminds me of Daisy Tonner where he’s over the ethical issue mostly
Luigi is definitely slaughter
- there’s not a really a need for question man is violent and angry I feel like there’s no question he shanks and yells and gets half naked for fun.
- his treatment of the gentern bringing coffee is a great example, he had no reason to freak out other than. Being like that. And also bc he can
- that’s about it actually he feeds on subordinates fear of his unforgiving temper it’s pretty CUT and dry
Pavi is. Hmmm. Flesh??
- I’m stuck on this one, however I think flesh fits best
- his face stealing reminds me of specific serial killer behaviors (usually due to parental issues) that involve using others body parts, usually skin (Ed Gein with his skin suit of his mother I think??) though I think his environment is part of why the face thing is a little less wrong in canon. Idk he’s a fucking FREAK okay
- also we never see his actual face so I feel an argument that it’s tied with dysmorphia isn’t unreasonable
- Pavi feeds off of adoration (even if it’s fake) from the Genterns as well as the fear of having your face skinned
- seriously what is wrong with him
- with the Genterns his boisting of “ask a gentern who they prefer” and overtly unacceptable sexual behavior (“my brother and sister should fuck”) feel like someone who wants validation and attention even if it’s not positive attention
Amber is Flesh too
- I think for a different reason from Pavi, she doesn’t have “inferiority” Dysmorphia that I think he has
- instead, I think Ambers behaviors are “superiority” dysmorphia (both terms I made up)
- in Ambers case she’s changing her appearance to cope with a shifting sense of self and strive for perfection caused by her notoriety and never being told no
- Amber feeds off of being desired and seen and is one of the most famous people in the known canon universe, but her blatant jealousy of Mag really depicts her motivation for perfection
- she also feeds herself to graverobber for drugs (deleted song ‘try my new parts’) I don’t care how good their surgical techniques are nobody is healing their hole that fast without hurting themselves somehow
- basically if Pavi is MAG 90 Amber is MAGP 2
Graverobber is End or Buried
- the end is for obvious reasons with corpse robbing and his lack of fear or caution around death @brainvomitintheparkinglot ‘s idea
- for buried, he’s literally a crack dealer
- he basically feeds the entire cities drug supply (trapping them in addiction that is hard to escape)
- the web usually deals with addiction but I don’t think he has manipulative or controlling motivation, he just works the system against other people
(Rottis corporation supplying everyone is the web, graverobber is a chunk of dust caught in it)
- as shown with Amber, he wont supply without money either, hypothetically pushing his clients into further debt (esp if they have geneco loans) AND addiction
- graverobber feeds off of the metaphorical suffocating nature of debt and addiction as mentioned, and well as literal suffocation
- following the drug thread, I will be treating zydrate like Heroin, in the idea it can be a powder or liquid (even though we only see it as a liquid in canon)
- like most painkilling drugs it can be assumed zydrate can induce vomit and therefore asphyxiation OR in the case of a powder that is inhaled, generally that isn’t optimal for breathing
- also graverobber is probably covered in corpse dust and like. Anthrax
Rotti is web (again, thank you @brainvomitintheparkinglot)
- his company owns the entire city (corporatocrocy)
- he literally controls everyone, his money controls his fucked up kids, and the entire system is his
- the rift with Shiloh and Nathan was organized by Rotti, and I feel like Ambers problem with Mag is somehow his fault too
- as far as I know, Mags blindness is never canonically explained, Rotti could easily be responsible like he was with Marni
- Rotti feeds off the obvious, control over everyone. He also is disappointed his kids found ways around his authority, and yet they’re STILL in his web (addicts and also fucked in the head bc of the circumstances he raised them in)
Mag is. The eye
- yeah. This one is the most direct
- I have a headcanon that she can see through cameras (how she found Shiloh) and how she seems to know all about what is happening in Shilohs life
- mag is both a victim and an avatar of the eye, she sees everything going on around her with the people she loves, but all eyes are always on her, trapping her where she is.
- literally had to do a Melanie king except she didn’t escape, the web and the eye often work in opposition in TMA while also being quite similar, she and Rotti much the same.
- “take these eyes I’d rather be blind” is an inadvertent argument with Rottis control of the web, he kills her for it
Lastly, Marni is either End or Desolation
- she’s not actually present in the film
- End is bc she died and yet is still so so important to the plot
-desolation is bc her actions are kind of why everyone in the story has issues
I could make a whole separate post on Rottis fucked up crack zydrate addicted kids

a/n: special tag to @h4rringtonsworld, this one's for youuu 🫶🏽
++
you had just moved back to hawkins from california a year ago after the unforeseen storm of an earthquake the small town in indiana had suffered. your mother and chief hopper are a real thing now and your brother will's always out with his three other friends. on the other hand, your eldest brother jonathan decided to drop out of lenora hills community college and bring his best friend argyle along to hawkins, renting a trailer together at the trailer park with the money they have from god-knows-where; you assume from argyle's old job at surfer boy pizza.
during these trying times of your family trying to make themselves comfortable again in hawkins, you've been secretly hooking up with the town freak eddie munson in your humble abode; whether it be when your mom is out on a date with hop or will is at mike's for d&d, or both if you're lucky. if you're not lazy to drive, you'd do the deed in his trailer, even though argyle and jonathan live nearby. sometimes jonathan would see your car parked out front of eddie's trailer in the morning and ask you your motives of staying the night, and you'd say you had a school project to complete, got too tired to drive and just crashed on the couch.
"you do realise i have a perfectly working car? that could drive you back home? god, at least knock on my door if you're here." jonathan would glare as you reply with a yeah yeah, big brother.
today, argyle and jonathan had enough time to drive back into town and drive you to school. you hadn't seen eddie all day yesterday. and of course, argyle made a big deal out of it. because when does he not make a big deal out of anything? "didn't crash at munson's last night huh byers?"
you had to play along. "yeah. he's all i don't wanna do shit tonight," you explain. "classic munson." you mumble to yourself, but obviously argyle heard. because apparently smoking purple palm tree delight gives you unreal auditory superpowers.
"you sound mad, byers," argyle teases. "i see this pattern in girls all the time."
"what pattern?" jonathan chimes in.
"byers, man... your sister likes that munson kid." argyle nods with the widest grin on his face.
"i don't like him, argyle!" you smack his arm. "fake news man. fake news."
"my sister knows better, man," jonathan taps his best friend's shoulder. "she's way out of eddie munson's league, trust me." oof. to you, it's kind of the opposite. eddie munson was way out of your league. you're still kind of in awe, the fact that he would choose you out of the dozens of metalhead girls in hawkins.
the school from the byers house is not that far, it was just a mere ten minute drive away. you lean back in the backseat as jonathan drives into the school parking lot. "hey jon, drop me off by the front doors." you tap your brother's shoulder, noticing eddie, steve and robin waiting by the doors already.
jonathan pulls into the entrance of the school. "thanks." you utter.
"see ya later byers." argyle waves.
"yeah argyle." you nod confused, as steve approaches you.
"hey loca," steve greets, giving you a side hug. "finally got a ride to school from big bro, huh?"
"and his high ass best friend? yeah, you guessed that one right." your eyebrows raise, walking towards robin and eddie. of course, since your regular fornications with eddie is kept a secret between you two, you had to pretend to not know each other well in public. "hey rob. eddie."
"hey byers," eddie nods his head up slightly, dropping his right foot from leaning against the wall. "we have to finish that physics project tonight, huh?"
you nod awkwardly. "yeah kinda."
"right. sorry for ditching you yesterday, by the way. had a— uh... gig at the hideout last night." that was a lie and you knew it. jonathan is catching on, so you didn't come over last night. you'd told him that over the phone.
"yeah no worries. let's just quickly get it done tonight." you nod, grinning before steve pulls you away from the conversation, his arm swinging around your shoulder.
"i'll see you at lunch later. eddie and i have calc right now." robin says, pointing towards the calculus room.
"yeah." steve nods as you watch robin pull eddie by his backpack towards calc. "sooo... how's partnering up with munson for physics huh?"
oh god. you hate questions that pertain to eddie. you know soon enough, you're gonna break. "meh. he smokes weed the entire time. not that i care, but... he gets so out of focus. it gets annoying eventually." you shrug.
"tell me about it," steve scoffs. "i have world history with him. the dude's always dozing off in class like he gets fifteen minutes of sleep every night. wonder what's up with him." oh, you know exactly what's up with him. you're under him almost every night.
"anyways enough about munson. how are you, man?"
"what?"
"you just moved back to hawkins. how's everything?"
you scoff, not really knowing how to answer this question. "i mean... my mom's dating hop. my brother lives nearby eddie so whenever i come over for— project completion, he thinks i'm doing something else. will's at mike's 24/7. you tell me, i guess."
"so you barely see your family huh?" steve has that pitiful face on. you hate it.
"stop with that face. you don't have to pity me. i'll live."
"okay, jeez." steve lets you go as soon as you enter english.
++
finally. lunch. you were so ready for today to end. so many damn questions about how you and your family's holding up after moving back to hawkins from cali. you just wanna be at eddie's at this point.
you never eat lunch. even at lenora. you always thought lunch food was jack shit. they serve the most disgusting things, you just end up starving the whole afternoon. you didn't mind it though. you only sat with steve and robin because eddie's off with the rats of hellfire that is gareth and jeff, your younger brother, dustin henderson and mike wheeler.
if this day couldn't be more random, jason carver and his band of dicks decided to approach your table. "first day back, y/n byers," jason grins. "how is your family holding up huh?"
you didn't want to be rude, that's for sure. "just fine, jason. thanks for asking."
"now get lost, man." steve scoffs.
"damn harrington. calm down. just wanna... reconnect with y/n here." jason smiles mockingly at steve. robin was cringing in the corner.
"as long as you're into band..." a voice you recognize in a heartbeat. "or science, or... parties..."
"god." you hear jason mumble next to you.
"or a game where you toss balls into laundry baskets!" eddie screams towards jason. "yeah. you, carver."
"you want something, freak?!" jason argues.
"yeah, i do," eddie nods sarcastically. you see argyle and jonathan look your direction from a corner in the cafeteria. "want you to stop flirting with her."
jason scoffs, turning to the guys behind him with that look at this fuck expression. "why? she's not yours, munson. she knows better not to."
"actually..." you drag. "that's where you're wrong buddy."
"byers is mine carver. mine. so fuck off." eddie's eyes widen, a smirk growing on his lips.
steve stops facing eddie and faces you instead, his brows furrowed in utter confusion. "the hell is he talkin' 'bout, byers?"
"oh my god, are you with eddie, y/n?!" robin chimes in.
"uh..." you stutter, watching eddie jump off his table and walk over towards yours. you give eddie that cut it off gesture before staring at everyone else. argyle and jonathan are running now.
the gesture you sent eddie apparently fired him up even more. because guess what he did. "hawkins high! you heard that right! y/n byers, is mine. she belongs to the freak now, so jason carver... my guy... kindly fuck off." eddie giggles.
damn him and his big smile and stupid giggle. you stand up from your seat. "you heard 'im right, people. he's my freak now."
"your freak," eddie shakes his head, before snaking his arms around your waist. "loving how that sounds baby."
"what the fuck, y/n?!" you couldn't quite read jonathan's face. is he confused? is he mad?
"get it, byers!" argyle on the other hand was cheering for you.
"argyle likes us together, that's all that matters," you wink at eddie. "sorry jon."
"if only i could take you right here right now, byers..." eddie sighs.
"you and i are gonna have a long talk, byers," jonathan's finger aggressively points at you. "you too munson." jonathan walks away, before pulling argyle along since he wouldn't budge staring at you and eddie.
"is there even a physics project?" steve throws his hands up.
"yes steve. we still have to get it done eds." you turn to face eddie, who is sat next to you with his hand on your thigh and his other arm on the backrest of the chair next to him.
"fuck physics baby." eddie scoffs. "it's you i'm doing tonight."
"you guys!" steve groans.

"There, my schedule for tomorrow is complete." I said in relief as I sat in my desk in my room on  a Wednesday Night, waiting for the day to completely end, so I can finally start a new one. My school counselor suggested  to me that I should start scheduling my tasks, so I can balance both my school and home life since I tend to be really busy with classes, fencing, and babysitting. Basically, the typical responsibilities almost every seventeen-year-old would have when they're almost done with high school. The truth is, I didn't always like doing these tasks. In fact, I only do them so I can prove myself to them. Them as in my folks; also known as my parents.
You see, my parents are very busy when it comes to their jobs. My mother, Barbara works late as a nurse while my father, Jonathan is a graveyard worker at the hotel downtown. So my siblings and I don't tend to see them often; especially my younger ones: Harold, Bethany or "Betty" as she preferred, and Wilbur. Futhermore, my two older siblings, Wendy and Steven, who are college students, are usually the ones in charge; despite their busy hours of studying. I guess they got use to it so much that they even began to act like Mom and Dad themselves. My oldest sister, Wendy at twenty-three last week had me clean the kitchen from head to toe and whenever I missed a pot or did something wrong, she would snap at me and tell me to do it again. In fact, she would complain about how "that's not how Mom would want it done!" I can still hear her obnoxious shriek in my ears.
Just as I was about to shut off the light and hit the hay, a knock was heard. I groaned to myself and told them to come in.
"Hello baby sister," Wendy greeted me in the most fake loving tone ever.
"Even the deadliest of all killers could fake that." She ignored my sarcasm.
"I know you don't like being bothered, especially this late at night," she continuned.
"It's only two hours and fifty three minutes until midnight, but talk." Wendy rolled her eyes at my deadpan remark. "Anyways, there's been a state of emergency at the hospital tonight. Mom's gonna be busy for the next two nights, and Dad's most likely gonna sleep in. So be prepared, sis. You might have to set up to watch the little ones longer than expected."
"WHAT?!" I began to freak out and flip through my agenda. "But that totally messes up my schedule!" I tried to show her.

Here’s my August 2023 wrap up! Reviews under the cut. Also, I truly don’t understand how I wound up reading so many vampire-themed books this month! I don’t find vampires particularly interesting, this was just how my holds on books from the library shook out.
From Blood and Ash by Jennifer M. Armentrout | Fantasy, New Adult, Romance
⭐⭐
Summary: Poppy is the Maiden, a high-ranking position of power meant to usher in a new era of prosperity after she completes the mysterious “Ascension.” But as the Ascension grows nearer, her doubts begin to multiply. Her own misgivings paired with civil unrest cause her to question everything she knows. Also, one of her bodyguards is dreamy.
Thoughts: The worldbuilding was subpar to bad and the characters were all unlikable. The big twist was interesting, but not worth the slog it was to get there. Maybe I’m being too harsh, but I don’t understand why there are so freaking many New Adult Fantasy Romance books out these days. Of course, I would love to stumble upon a new Six of Crows or The Cruel Prince. But the fact is, not every author is skilled enough to write the new Grishaverse. I know a lot of people loved this book, but it just wasn’t it for me.
The Trap by Catherine Ryan Howard | Thriller, Mystery, Crime, Suspense
⭐⭐⭐ and 1/2
Summary: Lucy’s sister, Nicki, has been missing ever since she walked out of a Dublin bar late one night without a word to her friends. Angela is the Irish equivalent of a police dispatcher for the Missing Persons Unit who longs to be a detective herself. An unnamed man drives through the Irish countryside as he enumerates his crimes to the woman in his backseat, his latest victim. When Angela makes an alarming discovery, she sets a series of events into motion that changes the hunt for the serial killer plaguing Ireland and might just crack the case.
Thoughts: This was exceptionally entertaining, though the beginning was a bit slow. The commentary of what it’s like to be a woman in a precarious situation was spot-on, though it didn’t add anything new to the conversation. What I really enjoyed about this book was that it didn’t feel ghoulish, as crime novels often do since True Crime became so popular.
Salt & Storm by Kendall Kulper | Young Adult, Witches, Historical Fiction, Mother and Daughter Relationships, Fantasy, Romance
⭐⭐⭐
Summary: Avery Roe is descended from a long line of witches, all of whom resided on Prince Island, Massachusetts, giving up something unimaginable in order to obtain their magic, which they then use to protect the whalers at sea. But Avery’s mother saw the price that had to be paid in order to become the island’s witch and chose, instead, to attempt to make a life in Victorian society. Avery struggles against her mother’s rules, longing to go to her grandmother and learn the spells she needs to become the next island’s witch. But when Avery has a prophetic dream that shows her she will be murdered, suddenly Avery’s struggles become urgent.
Thoughts: This book had extraordinary prose and fantastic descriptions. Kulper masterfully depicted a tense relationship between mother and daughter. However, the price that is so built up that must be paid in order to obtain one’s magic was anticlimactic. I was, “That’s all?”
Naramauke by Lily Sparks | Young Adult, Companion Novella, Horror, Romance, Contemporary
⭐⭐⭐⭐
Summary: Erik’s version of events from the novel Teen Killers Club by Lily Sparks.
Thoughts: This novella gave readers of the Teen Killers Club series (final installment out in October) a glimpse into the motivations of characters that we didn’t get to see from Signal’s perspective. Definitely hyped me up for Teen Killers at Large.
Dark Water Daughter by H.M. Long | Fantasy, Pirates, Romance, Magic
⭐⭐⭐
Summary: A swashbuckling fantasy set among pirates, tree spirits, and mages alike. Mary Firth is a Stormsinger: someone who can control the winds and weather with a song. She has kept her ability a secret all her life for her own safety, but when she is mistaken as a highwayman and brought to the noose, she has no choice but to sing herself out of the situation. Now, pirates and privateers are after her for her unique ability to sail ships wherever they need to go. But that’s not all they’re after.
Thoughts: While well-written and entertaining at times, I found myself at sea (pun not intended) for a lot of this. I think this type of story just wasn’t for me, and it isn’t going to be something I remember reading six months from now.
How to Bite Your Neighbor and Win a Wager by D.N. Bryn | M M Romance, Vampires, Contemporary, New Adult
Summary: Wes is a recent college graduate mourning the sudden disappearance of his beloved mother. Vincent is a starving, houseless vampire whose support system was yanked away from him when he was turned by accident during his freshman year of college. Together, they explore a milquetoast attraction to one another as Vincent experiences a veritable barrage of hate crimes while Wes stands insipidly by. Also, there are entire passages lifted from The Song of Achilles and reworded so it’s not technically plagiarism.
Thoughts: This was hot, wet garbage. It reads like fanfiction written by the cringiest theater kid you ever had the displeasure of meeting in high school. The dialogue reminds one of how young teenagers speak, not how adults interact with one another. Case in point: a side character asks Wes if Vincent makes him, “tingly in [his] pingly.” He proceeds to refer to his penis as his “pingly” for the rest of the novel. I can’t make this shit up. And while the plot was clearly too ambitious of a concept for the skill level of the author, I am still disappointed with the result of this whole pharmaceutical conspiracy.
Mister Magic by Kiersten White | Horror, Mystery, Supernatural, Contemporary
⭐⭐⭐
Summary: Everyone remembers their favorite childhood television show, Mister Magic. What no one can agree on is what Mister Magic looked like. Unlike most shows from the early 90s, it’s impossible to find recordings of the episodes, even in the furthest reaches of the internet. But in an era where nostalgia is extremely profitable, someone gets the idea to have a reunion of the cast of the show in the form of a podcast. Val is 38 and lives on a ranch in Idaho. She has no memories of her time before she and her father arrived at the ranch covered in fresh burn scars at the age of eight. But when three men show up to her father’s funeral, she feels like she’s met them before. And when they tell her that her mother is alive and they all share a past, she has no choice but to return to the place where Mister Magic was filmed in search of answers.
Thoughts: The opening of this book is stunning. It draws the reader in, playing on that weird Mandela Effect we all have about media from our own childhoods. However, as the story progresses, things become more and more surreal, to the point where I wasn’t sure I was following what exactly was going on. It was so abstract that I found myself getting frustrated and bored.
Rent to Be by Sonia Hartl | Romance, Contemporary, New Adult
⭐⭐⭐
NOTE: I read an ARC.
Summary: Isla Jane is an elder zoomer (not a millennial, as the book blurbs will have to believe) who was, like many of us post-college twentysomethings, one unforeseen expense away from financial disaster. That expense, for her, came in the form of a broken transmission, which caused her to miss rent payments, which caused her to get kicked out by her roommates. Thus kicks off Isla’s month-long struggle to keep her head above water while she sleeps under her desk at work, housesits, and crashes on her brother’s couch, all while her brother’s handsome best friend stands by, sometimes teasing her but most of the time supporting her.
Thoughts: Hartl discusses the economic woes all new adults face with startling accuracy (although I’m not sure why Isla didn’t go to a food rescue if she was so food-insecure). However, Isla’s introduction in the story is frankly a lot, and for a few chapters, I was siding with her roommates. I’ve had roommates of my own neglect to pay their share of rent and neglect to discuss it with me, and believe me, I was not happy when the landlord showed up wondering where his $500-odd dollars were. Despite the initial bad taste in my mouth, I did grow to like Isla and sympathize with her interpersonal problems with her parents: Boundaries matter. And I think Cade acted as a great foil in that regard. Just because someone had it worse than Isla, that doesn’t mean Isla isn’t allowed to be hurt by her parent’s thoughtlessness. Overall, a good portrayal of young millennial/elder zoomer financial struggles with a cute romance.
In Nightfall by Suzanne Young | Urban Fantasy, Horror, Contemporary, Young Adult, Vampires, Reimagining, Supernatural
⭐⭐
Summary: In this reimagining of the 1987 film The Lost Boys, a pair of siblings visit their father’s hometown in the wake of their parent’s divorce. While Marco immediately falls in love with the stunning and stunningly cool Minnow, our heroine, Theo, isn’t so enamored. Things get stranger and stranger as their visit progresses, until it’s clear that there’s something wrong with this town--and it’s gotten its claws into Marco.
Thoughts: This was maybe ten to fifteen chapters too long. The paperback is nearly 400 pages and if I’m being honest, a YA vampire thriller with no symbolism/philosophy to speak of has no business being so tedious and long. I had to force myself through certain parts. It had the potential to be really fun and creepy if an editor had gone through it with some hedge clippers. Instead, it was boring. Amazing cover though.
Tilly in Technicolor by Mazey Eddings | Romance, Young Adult, Contemporary, Mental Health, Travel, Humor
⭐⭐⭐
NOTE: I read an ARC.
Summary: Tilly just graduated high school by the skin of her teeth thanks to her ADHD making it impossible to focus in a traditional classroom setting. Oliver, also neurodivergent, runs a successful Instagram page utilizing Pantone’s colors to relate to the world around him and start a dialogue about color theory. Both have spots as summer interns for a startup nail polish company, where they traverse falling in love in a world that wasn’t made for your brain chemistry.
Thoughts: Despite its serious subject matter, I found Tilly in Technicolor to be both heartfelt and wildly funny. The dialogue was age-appropriate for a YA book without feeling like an adult was poorly imitating how kids talk, and the characters were all flawed from the jump without seeming unlikeable. I did, however, find myself rolling my eyes at the inevitable Final Act Breakup, though that was resolved in pretty short order.
The Last Girls Standing by Jennifer Dugan | Horror, LGBT, Mystery, Young Adult
Summary: Sloan and Cherry are the only two girls who survived a horrific mass-murder. Now, as Sloan is trying to recover her memories, she grows more and more certain that Cherry is gaslighting her about what really happened that night.
Thoughts: I was expecting a fun slasher book. What I got was two dysfunctional lesbians screaming at each for 75% of the book. I was like, Just break up already! You two are so toxic to one another! I was annoyed at how misleading the cover and blurbs on this book were.
Vampires of El Norte by Isabel Cañas | Historical Fiction, Horror, Vampires, Vaqueros, Gothic, Romance
⭐⭐⭐
Summary: After a gruesome mauling by a gray, eyeless, humanoid monster, Néstor believes his childhood sweetheart, Nena, to be dead. In the wake of the attack, he flees the ranch he was raised on and spends the next nine years breaking horses by day and chasing Nena’s ghost away with copious amounts of alcohol and meaningless sex by night. But when he is called back to the ranch after the Texans declare war on Mexico, he discovers that Nena survived the attack, and she is furious that he left her without so much as a word. An accomplished healer, Nena accompanies her father’s battalion to war, where she and Néstor are separated from everyone else. Soon, she and Néstor learn that there is more to be scared of than just the Yanquís trying to take their land.
Thoughts: At first, I found this to be an excellent, immersive read that had me feeling Néstor’s grief and Nena’s anger. It transported me to mid-1800s Northern Mexico. As the story wore on, I found the interpersonal conflict to be deeply annoying. In his inner monologue, Néstor insists he loves Nena. Yet when the two fight, he hits below the belt, casting aspersions on her due to imagined slights and even blaming her for being complicit to the exploitation of the working class. Like, Dude. She’s an unmarried woman during the Victorian era and there are vampires attacking you. I’m all for bringing down capitalism but maybe some of your ire is a little misplaced. They both whine an exceeding amount throughout the story about their relationship.
Ashes in the Snow by Oriana Ramuno | Historical Fiction, World War II, Crime, Holocaust, Nazi Germany, Murder Mystery
⭐⭐⭐
Note: I read an ARC
Summary: The year is 1943 and Detective Hugo Fischer, accomplished criminologist, is sent to Auschwitz to investigate the mysterious death of a high-ranking SS officer. A young twin and current favorite of the infamous Josef Mengele, eight-year-old Gioele is the one who discovered the body. The boy strikes a deal with the detective: he will provide information if Hugo locates his parents.
Thoughts: This novel opens up with a punch to the face: Detective Hugo Fischer is standing on the train platform in front of Auschwitz, waiting to be escorted to the crime scene. From there, he watches as an SS officer rips a baby from her mother’s arms and stomps her to death. After witnessing such a thing, one would think that Hugo might not be shocked at the horror that awaits him inside the camp. Yet it seems as though every injustice shocks him anew. I’m like, Hugo, you just saw a man murder a baby in front of her mother and you’re shocked that the Nazis are performing human experimentation? Come on. But Hugo has, since the Nazi party seized power, kept his head down in order to survive, which is why he wears the swastika on his jacket and pretends his bad leg was the result of polio and not a degenerative disease. And while the book seemed to be leaning quite hard on Hannah Arendt’s idea of the banality of evil, there is no denying that what went on at Auschwitz was anything but banal. While it was an engrossing read, I found myself disliking all of the characters except Gioele, because I don’t believe the line of reasoning that plenty of Nazis were doing their jobs because execution was the only other option. We even learn that Hugo had job offers all over the world but chose to stay in Berlin. It was difficult sympathizing with a character who, when we meet him, witnessed the brutal murder of a baby girl without uttering so much as a word.
Eventide by Sarah Goodman | Historical Fiction, Young Adult, Fantasy, Horror, Magic
⭐⭐
Summary: When Verity and Lilah’s father is committed to an asylum after the death of their mother, the two sisters find themselves on an orphan train heading from New York City to the small town of Wheeler, Arkansas. When adorable, 11-year-old Lilah is adopted immediately and there are no offers made on taciturn, 17-year-old Verity, Verity must take on an indenture to stay close to her beloved sister. But Wheeler is an odd town with strange magic in its bones and not everyone is as they seem, especially the mild-mannered schoolteacher who adopted Lilah.
Thoughts: I really do not like the sort of story where something is obviously happening and everyone around the protagonist doesn’t believe them. At least Verity’s friends and the one social worker believed her. I suppose I found myself frustrated that Verity showed up to a town and had to pay for the sins of her parents. What a parent does shouldn’t be the child’s burden to bear and the ending wasn’t fair.
The Lady Rogue by Jenn Bennet | Young Adult, Historical Fiction, Adventure
⭐⭐⭐
Summary: Theodora Fox lives on the sidelines of her father’s Indiana Jones-esque treasure hunting career, staying behind at hotels with governesses and tutors as he and Huck Gallager--her ex-boyfriend and father’s apprentice of sorts--go on adventures. After Theo’s tutor absconds with all of her money, leaving Theo in a foreign city with no resources, the last person she wants to see is Huck Gallagher, who left in the middle of the night over a year ago without so much as a word. But when he tells her he believes her father to be in trouble, she has no choice but to set her feelings aside and team up with her former love to come to his rescue.
Thoughts: I really, really enjoyed the adventure side of this book. It was a fun romp through the Carpathian Mountains. The personal conflict between Huck and Theo, however, felt half-baked. It needed to be fleshed out a little more. And while the two seemed to agree that Fox (Theo’s father) was the root cause of their problems, that was never explored in any satisfying way. It felt like the author was rushing the ending rather than giving these characters catharsis after they’d been badly hurt by someone they both considered a parental figure.
With a Kiss We Die by L. R. Dorn | Mystery, Thriller, Suspense, Contemporary
⭐⭐⭐
Summary: Ryanna Raines is an investigative journalist and host of the hit true-crime podcast known as, “The Raines Report.” Before landing on a subject for her sixth season, she receives an intriguing message on her tip line from a 22-year-old theater student from USCB whose parents were found murdered in their San Diego home. He knows that the police are days away from charging both him and his 18-year-old girlfriend with murder and he wants Raines to fly to California and give the young students a chance to tell their side of the story and proclaim their innocence.
Thoughts: At first, I found this read to be deeply absorbing. I liked the podcast-y format (though I haven’t listened to a podcast in years, I can still appreciate the unique approach to storytelling). But as the story wore on, it became clear that there would be no big twists or interesting discoveries. It was anticlimactic and perhaps that was the point as the book was a fictional lens with which to look at the true crime genre. Still, I found myself unsatisfied with the lack of mystery in this alleged mystery novel.
Cackle by Rachel Harrison | Horror, Fantasy, Witches, Contemporary
⭐⭐⭐⭐
Summary: Annie Crane, suffering from a devastating breakup, has no choice but to move out of her expensive NYC apartment she shared with her now-ex and take a job teaching upstate. In the small, picturesque village of Rowan, Annie meets Sophie and begins a life-altering transformation.
Thoughts: This was honestly a really funny read. I’ve read another book by this author that was equally as funny, so I expected that. However, I thought the plot could stand to be a little more developed and I would have liked it to be a little darker.
Jackal by Erin E. Adams | Horror, Race, Contemporary, Thriller, Black Horror, Supernatural
⭐⭐⭐
Summary: Liz Rocher grew up in the Rust Belt town of Johnstown, PA. A black girl in an affluent, predominantly white community, she struggled to fit in with her classmates throughout her childhood, and when she left the small town for New York City, it was for good. When her best friend announces she’s getting married, though, Liz sucks it up and returns to her hometown in order to be a bridesmaid and to visit her best friend’s nine-year-old daughter (her goddaughter), Caroline, who herself is half black. At the wedding, though, Caroline goes missing. This starts Liz down a path of discovery: black girls go missing every June in this little, idyllic town.
Thoughts: While this was an engrossing read, I can’t help but feel like it would have been more effective as a screenplay/movie. And while the novel subverted plenty of tropes, it was still in the tired genre of “woman with a substance abuse problem returns to hometown and stumbles upon a murderer.”
My Roommate is a Vampire by Jenna Levine | Contemporary, Romance, Comedy, Vampires
⭐⭐⭐⭐
Summary: Chicago-based artist Cassie Greenberg is shocked to see a Craigslist apartment listed for only $200 a month. Financially desperate, she decides to meet her potential roommate, fully expecting to encounter a complete weirdo or worse. Well, her roommate is a weirdo: he’s wildly handsome, only comes out at night, never seems to cook or eat, and has a tenuous understanding of technology at best. When Cassie finds blood bags in the fridge, the pieces come together in her mind: her roommate is a vampire.
Thoughts: This was a super funny read. While I’d prefer the plot to be a little more developed, it was fun and campy and I laughed out loud more than once. Definitely didn’t take itself too seriously and I’d recommend it as a palate cleanser.
Together We Rot by Skyla Arndt | Young Adult, Fantasy, Romance, Mystery, Horror, Cults
⭐⭐
Summary: Wil and Elwood were best friends until her mom went missing last year. Then Wil finds herself being gaslighted by the local police and begins noticing all the deeply strange rituals of the local church. Worse, she’s sure she has seen members of the church wearing her mother’s jewelry. Elwood’s father is the preacher and leader of the strange church, and when Wil confronts Elwood, he chooses believing his family over believing her. That is, until he overhears his father speaking about human sacrifice to the local sheriff and realizes he must run for his life.
Thoughts: I thought the prose was overly-flowery and Elwood’s abrupt shift from steadfastly believing his family of being innocent to immediately believing them to be murderers was strange to say the least. He doesn’t even take the time to question what he overheard. He just runs away.

Six Spooky September Recs
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I know, it's not September yet, but it's coming soon, and I always feel like the beginning of autumn is a perfectly good time to start getting into the Halloween mood. So I'm recommending six books to help you get this year's spooky season going. I've tried to restrict myself to less famous or more contemporary works (we all love The Haunting of Hill House, yes, yours truly included, but it's a pretty well-known novel), and only picked books that really stayed with me. Mind the content warnings on StoryGraph for each of these.
The Red Tree by Caitlín R. Kiernan is a very, very good eldritch horror novel with a complex and deeply flawed lesbian protagonist; it's also an unsubtle but insightful examination of mental illness, toxic relationships, and the way people sometimes just can't do right by each other. Lots of hypnotic prose, bitter dialogue, and some nightmarishly beautiful imagery.
Sisters by Daisy Johnson is a very sharp, contemporary literary thriller that puts a new spin on the 'woman who has something wrong with her moves into house that has something wrong with it' Gothic trope. I picked this book up just on a whim and got completely hypnotized by the corrosive character dynamics and the haunting atmosphere.
Cast a Cold Eye by Alan Ryan is, simply put, my favorite ghost story. Set in a remote Irish village, it's the slowest of slow burns but utterly terrifying sometimes, written in literary, imaginative prose and threaded with themes of community, history and tradition examined thoughtfully through literal and metaphorical hauntings. Also, the writing is just genuinely beautiful.
Through the Woods by Emily Carroll: THE horror comic book for me. Gorgeous art and terrifying little tales (including the celebrated His Face All Red), what more do you need?
Experimental Film by Gemma Files is another excellent eldritch horror story told through a very unique perspective. The novel is about Lois, a bitter film critic who is trying to balance a difficult family life with the disappointment of her professional career, until she stumbles across a mystery in cinematic history that leads her to something terrifying. I'm pretty hard to freak out, but man, this book always does the trick. (For bonus nightmares, also read her short story each thing i show you is a piece of my death, which explains a certain side character's backstory and is literally the scariest goddamn thing I've ever read.)
And finally, Killer Verse: Poems of Murder and Mayhem is exactly what it sounds like: a poetry anthology examining the act of murder, from old ballads to contemporary poetry and through various points of view. Some of the poems are horrifying, some are bleak and some are really sad, but they all make for a hell of a read.
Happy haunting, fellow bookworms!

Comics Review: ‘Batgirls’ #1
Tumblr media
Batgirls Vol. 1 by Becky Cloonan My rating: 3 of 5 stars Gotham is on fire. Again. (Still?) And fortunately or unfortunately, by this juncture, fewer and fewer people truly care whether anyone is around to douse the flames. Which could be a good thing for Team Batgirl, whose combined ranks of Gordon, Cain, and Brown might slip among the shadows a little bit easier. But nothing really goes as one hopes when crimefighting in a city on fire. In BATGIRLS v1, readers breeze into the chaos midstream: Team Batgirl fights off a street artist with a knack for mind control, encounters a trio of well-equipped militant extremists, defends against a prodigy hacker, and as often happens when dealing with teenage superheroes, the team, from time to time, must also combat its own stupidity. BATGIRLS v1 successfully executes what many recent iterations of Batgirl have done: blend new stories of familiar heroics for new readers. Barbara Gordon is the big sister with a mind for strategy and gadgetry. Cassandra Cain is a strong, silent, and efficient partner looking for comfort among close friends. And Stephanie Brown, who is especially chatty, hates villainy with a casual efficiency that would be terrifying if she weren't so exceedingly upbeat. Few comics fans who thrive on more parochial ("classic") narrative tales of any of these characters will fall in love with this new comic. But that's okay. For what BATGIRLS v1 hopes to achieve, the character relationships and plotting mostly hit the target. The book struggles to balance its quest to entertain as well as the necessity of narrative focus. Does the team settle on relocating its hideout after a bomb threat, does it pound the pavement in search of an upstart mind-control freak, does it crack down on a hyped-up group of well-armed militants, or does it track down a hacker who has infiltrated Oracle's network? Lots of entertaining stuff. But ultimately very poor focus. Some of these stories are relegated to C-level priority, despite being introduced as a big deal. For others, the reverse feels truer than not. For example, The Saints, sharp assassins bearing some sweet gear, enter the story early only to falter and feather into the background. Team Batgirl gets its butt kicked the first time around, but in the end, the headhunters are a piece of cake. Is this another casualty of Big Two comics promising more than it can deliver? Regardless, it's kind of a letdown. BATGIRLS v1 leans heavily on the antics and dynamics of its co-protagonists. Cass is generally mum, but she doesn't hesitate to voice her opinion when her emotions rise to the fore. Steph is written precisely like a modern teenager, which is to say, she somehow balances being incredibly productive while also being dreadfully annoying. The two girls would make for the center-point of a killer series, when they're older, about Batgirl Roommates. But for now, side stories and commentary involving oddball pajamas, burned pancakes, and pierced ears will have to do. Visually, the comic employs an effective art style that works well with these iterations of Cain and Gordon but doesn't always mesh with Brown's ebullience. The book's sharp, angular, fed-from-the-shadows visual design is inherently cryptic, and more than suitable to the storytelling atmospherics of a city lulled to sleep while still on fire. The art in this book really stands out, from the geometric silhouette of Cain's cape to the incredible color-mix of psychosis and psychedelia readers engage, once fear gas is introduced into the story. Perhaps if the book reduced its villain count and narrowed its narrative trajectory, then the art team's work would've been even more effective. BATGIRLS v1 thrives, but ebbs and flows considerably in the process. The character voices are distinct and the art delivers on all accounts. But the story problematically overloads when it should instead pick and choose its challenges.

Horror Movies I Remember Watching As A Kid👻
🩸👻🩸👻🩸👻🩸👻🩸👻🩸👻🩸👻🩸👻🩸👻🩸👻
Valentine (2001)
Tumblr media
Oh this! Now this movie I would watch every opportunity I got. When it was on TV for Valentines Day I'd watch it while surrounded by chocolates and when it was over, I'd catch the repeat on the next channel! Ah I remember lying on the couch (unfortunately I was sick with flu at the time) surrounded by chocolate and Sprite and my plushies, comfy blanket and all just chilling and watching the movie start to finish. The nostalgia just brings back good memories. Love this movie😊 Also I always thought the killer looked deadly especially with the arrow scene, definitely Cupid got skills in archery!
Friday The 13th: Jason Takes Manhatten
Tumblr media
I'm a big fan of Jason since I was a kid yet you'd be surprised that I haven't even watch HALF of the Friday The 13th movies. I remember only I think the one where the little kid is in it. But this movie got me hooked on the Friday The 13th and Jason Voorhees became my favourite slasher. Though I love the Nightmare On Elm Street franchise, you'll always find me cheering for Jason in Freddy vs Jason. Plus this movie has a killer beat theme song!😆
Nightmare On Elm Street
Tumblr media
Now, to pick one favourite from the Nightmare On Elm Street would be difficult to say the least, not to mention that I can't cover all movies but luckily I only have really 3 movies I love in the franchise.
To start off, the first movie was my favourite. It was scary watching as a kid but that didn't stop me! The first one was brilliant and still is to this day. I would watch it a few days before Halloween and it just added to the atmosphere😊
Now the next one would be Dream Warriors because I liked the idea of the kids teaming up and using their dreams to fight Freddy. It was pretty cool to me as a kid at the time and to be honest, it's still cool to me😊
New Nightmare is another brilliant movie and the Freddy in it had just that absolute scare factor, like he just got even more scarier. The new claw glove in it was badass too and the storyline was very well put together. I loved it and its actually one of my sister's favourites too!😊
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)
Tumblr media
When I first watched this movie with my brothers, the scene at night in the woods and Leatherface coming out of freaking nowhere with the chainsaw scared the absolute shit out of me! Not gonna lie. But after the shock wore off I grew to love the first movie as it was scary as hell but I appreciated how it was put together to give you the best scare factor.
I did see number 2 of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and yes it was crazy as fuck but I do adore only certain horror movies that have that bat crazy factor and this movie got it. I love it!😆
Skinned Deep
Tumblr media
I got this movie as a kid as a present. Now first lemme get this out of the way by saying it's okay if you never heard of this film nor be aware of it's existence. That's because to the small community of fans of this movie it's regarded as a cult movie so while it's not popular with the mainstream movie community it's popular to a select few. I never heard of this movie either but I still have it to this day and for a reason.
Yes, take it from me it's VERY weird. Like more crazy than Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. It's in some way similar to Texas Chainsaw Massacre but just amped up on the crazy factor. I do love the design of the Surgeon General (Bear Trap Guy Above⬆️). On scary factor it is more freaky factor but it does hold up. Now if you did see this movie your opinions may differ from mine so I'd like to hear your thoughts on the movie😊
Interview With The Vampire
Tumblr media
I love vampires. Hell I wanted to be a vampire since I was a kid! Well my canines are pointed more than normal so yeah, I got fangs😂 Anyway this movie goes up there on my top vampire movies list next to Bram Stoker's Dracula. I'm a total Lestat fan. Like if I was a vampire I would be like Lestat. Of course I loved Louise in it but as a kid I found him slightly whiny🤣 But now i found Louise more tolerable. Mum allowed me to stay up one Halloween dressed as a vampire to watch this, drinking sweet sugar juice made to look like blood and eating candy🩸🦇 Ahh memories!
Bram Stoker's Dracula
Tumblr media
My favourite Dracula movie alongside Christopher Lee's portrayal as the iconic vampire. This movie is so freaking good and love the storyline. Yeah it has the love story element to it but i don't care. I love the movie. And yes, I did want Mina and Dracula to live happily ever after!😂
Botched
Tumblr media
I watched this on the Horror Channel after my room was redecorated. It takes place in Russia and yes It's bonkers but it's funny like some scenes made me laugh till my stomach hurted. I later got the movie on DVD and still have it to this day. It's a gem in my movie collection honestly. The movie is in English in case you are wondering. If you watched it, please let me know what you think of the movie😊
The Lost Boys
Tumblr media
Another fave vampire movie of mine! Love David and his vampire biker crew in the film. They are a found family honestly and its cool! Watched this many times in the summertime as a kid and I would love to pretend I was one of them, like wearing shades around the house!😆 Very good movie! Also my favorite vampire crush is Marko🦇❤️😉
House On A Haunted Hill (1999)
Tumblr media
Oh the nostalgia that just hits me when I think about this movie! Oh this movie was scary, to me at least at the time but that's how I grew to love the genre of horror even more. Seriously this movie rocked for me as a kid. And that's how I knew the lyrics to "Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This" because of this movie. It bewildered my parents to hear me sing the full lyrics to the Eurythmics version of the song even though I heard the remixed version in the movie but I knew the lyrics. So yeah bonus points for this movie teaching me the lyrics😂🎶
And now I'm gonna wrap this up folks! I'll return hopefully to make part 2 of this so I hoped you enjoy and maybe check a few of these movies out yourselves! See you later!😉

Let Dexter be the good guy
(This is literally nothing but spoilers for the finale episode of New Blood.)
It's possible I'll change my mind the more I think about it, but it seems that what bugs me the most about the New Blood finale is that the writers suddenly wanted to backpedal after nine seasons and go "Oh no never mind our hero is just one hundred per cent awful LOL JK die."
The entire premise of Dexter is interesting because it put us in a position to not just sympathize, but empathize with a full-blown murderer. This was, in a 21st-century sort of way, a Murder on the Orient Express approach. The more we learned about Dexter's origins, the more we got inside his head and the way he never really, truly justified himself ("I'm a very clean monster") but nevertheless did what he did and, to paraphrase John Wayne Cleaver of I Am Not a Serial Killer, copied the behavior of those he rationally considered to be good...the more we felt like we were allowed to love him. When confronted with all the aspects of his morality, we found that, while he was not heroic by any classical definition, we wanted him to continue being who and what he was. Part of this is probably revenge-fantasy for a lot of us-- God knows that, as an abuse survivor, I cheered when Trinity died. But in the virtual reality of fiction, we were allowed that.
New Blood tried, in the final lap, to break down that fourth wall and impose real-life morality onto our twisted hero who had, in so many ways, fought for and found his own humanity in the midst of monstrosity. After everything we had seen him gain and go through, they suddenly wanted to make us hate him as we would Bundy or Manson.
I don't want Dexter brought to justice. I don't want him to stop "taking out the garbage." And I don't for one second believe that 1) Dexter didn't care about saving innocent people (look how he's always responded to endangered children); 2) that Dexter would have killed Logan, who didn't meet the Code; 3) that Dexter "never" knew "real love" until Harrison when we have 8 freaking seasons of him bending over backwards for his sister; 4) that Dexter would further traumatize his own child by asking to be killed.
And the fact that the writers had to have him do such out-of-character things to justify that ending tells me that they hated Dexter and never should have been allowed near our Dark Defender.
(If you disagree with me, please write your own post about it. I'm not here for Discourse and if you try to bring the righteous indignation I will simply hit the block button.)

The Black Phone (2022) Review
Tumblr media
Wow, kids in the 70s really liked bullying each other, didn’t they? Just the common high school hobby - lets punch each other to our heart’s desire! What a time to have been a child!
Plot: After being abducted by a child killer and locked in a soundproof basement, a 13-year-old boy starts receiving calls on a disconnected phone from the killer's previous victims.
This year has been pretty good for horror films thus far. Got to see Sebastian Stan being a charming cannibal in Fresh; a bunch of youths filmed a porno whilst being massacred one by one by their old horny landlords in X; and the Foo Fighters got killed off by a possessed band leader Dave Grohl who wanted to go solo in Studio 666 - so all in all, not too shabby to bring out the scares of 2022. Next we now have The Black Phone, where Ethan Hawke gets to play your not so usual evil clown (he describes himself as a part-time magician) who wears a half-clown-half-devil mask, drives a black van and has a bunch of black balloons as a prop in abducting little boys. Oh yeah, this guy is a pervert through and through, and Hawke is aptly creepy and scary, however be warned, this movie is not the Ethan Hawke show, as he’s actually not in the movie that much. Only for 3 or 4 scenes really. It’s actually about a brother and a sister, a modern Hansel and Gretel if you will (though any fictional brother/sister name examples would fit) and them dealing with their abusive father who has a drinking problem, and gosh I must tell you, if anyone here has had abusive parents, I feel for you as the abusive dad in this is horrible and manipulative. So as a result what we have is a movie that is not necessarily that scary, but more so just offers a situation that in itself is horrifying.
Speaking of which, the child actors in this are phenomenal. They get the most screen time, and they could have really ruined the film with bad deliveries or general annoyances that can come with the demand of an R-rated, adult-themed movie, and in the 1970s no less. They really had to understand their element, and the main brother and sister had to show us their chemistry not just when together but also when apart. They had a lot to work with, and lived up to their roles. This was of course complemented by Hawke's villain role, portrayed very obscurely yet charismatically. You're not ever really knowing what he's thinking, what he'll do next, or why/when he'll decide to wear different masks or illicit a new kind of conversation. They could have gone deeper into it narratively however, as it is never really explained why Hawke’s character wore masks, and at one point in the film when his mask is torn off he freaks out and becomes a wimp, again begging the question why his character felt so naked without the masks. Felt like there was an expositional scene that was cut out from the final cut, which does leave one wanting more. Especially due to Hawke’s limited screen time, you do wish there was more backstory provided for him.
The Black Phone feels like a movie that was made in the 70′s. Scott Derrickson in faded tones to give it the feel of that era, and throws in cuts of old school stock footage to amplify that. Additionally the first act of this film is very slow paced, and takes its time introducing us to the child characters and their lifestyle, which very much reminded me of the coming-of-age style of Richard Linklater movies. Also, all the kids in this movie bully the heck out of one another at school. Like there’s so much punching. Like my gosh the 70s was rough. I blame it on ‘Nam. I don’t know, for some reason seeing kids bully each other makes me think of the 70′s. Cause evidently bullying is so specific to the 70′s...
Overall The Black Phone is a very enjoyable if not quite dark thriller. I wouldn’t really call it a horror, as the scares mainly come from jump scare reveals of ghosts who look like zombies, but even then I wouldn’t call them scary. However seeing a very game Hawke and very talented lead child actors, this very much provided a exciting if not a tad forgettable visit to the movies.
Overall score: 6/10

Notes while watching episode 2:
Tldr, this season is still pretty fun. Of course they’re introducing more of the mysteries, so the tone (and my screen) has gone darker. I’m really sick of the plot centering around Nancy and Jonathan just not being able to talk to each other. We’ve had it since the beginning I’m DONE. Stop introducing side characters when you don’t have any idea what to do with your main ones. I’m hoping we get more of Lucas this season, he barely had like two minutes of screen time (which is a trend from last season) and also no one cared about billy. But of course, we knew that.
Anyway here is the long version of my notes:
The way I GASPED when Powell and Callahan stepped out of the police cruisers and Powell is the chief now I screamed bitch. My favorite minor characters are HERE.
I have Jonathan’s haircut right now rip
Everytime I am forced to watch children kiss each other I feel my soul slip away. (Although the flower thing was lowkey cute)
Mike not hugging Will is pure homophobia I’m gonna throw up.
“I heard a lot about your sister” unfortunately, we all have.
Glad to see that Murray is still dialed to 1000 forever.
They are really trying to make Jonathan look like an extra in Almost Famous and it’s just. Not working.
They really are out here shoving Steve into youth xs size polos and bitch I’m HERE for it.
“Alone we totally suck” Steve and robin platonic soulmates 4ever
Bennys burgers is now the teenage rage place obsessed with that.
“The devil lives here in Hawkins” yeah and the devil’s name is Nancy’s wardrobe
Claudia Henderson my beloved.
The way Dustin is defending Eddie and saying he knows that he’s too good a person to hurt Chrissy, and Max saying how scared Eddie looked and putting together the Upside Down pieces just breaks my fucking heart. No one cared about billy no one cared about billy.
People need to start fucking believing Joyce. She’s been right about everything for four seasons now stop staying no to her.
I am very similar to Joyce in that I am in love with Jim Hopper.
I am DEEPLY claustrophobic that torture scene was A Lot.
Wills deep man voice is freaking me out he’s a grown human now I’m gonna barf he was such a squishy baby in season 1.
Obsessed that Will is lowkey good at roller skating. He’s such a fruit.
Someone called Mike a twig and I thought he said TWINK.
Jason the WASP can eat my shorts PLEASE don’t tell me he becomes part of the main group I hate his dumb face. I only have room in my heart for one stupid prep and that spot is FILLED by STEVEN HARRINGTON
Nancy and Jonathan actually talk to each other and communicate challenge. “Slow motion breakup with Nancy?” VIBES
I don’t understand why Angela keeps calling El a snitch? When the teacher asked if something was going on El said there wasn’t, but the teacher saw through it. Like, she tried to cover for you, sorry that your bullying isn’t subtle.
When I heard that psycho killer baseline I genuinely had to pause the show to calm myself down that song is SO FUCKING GOOD
Jason the prep is just Hawkins’s version of Archie Andrews I’m gonna cry with this vigilante shit.
“See ya later. Alligator.” Steve Harrington my BELOVED. When he said that he looked so dead inside <3
I think Lucas has said about eight words this season and I’m Tired. He was barely in season 3 and only existed as a punch line for the joke of being constantly broken up with by Max. They’ve added a hundred new characters and have totally cast him aside which is ALSO on trend. Doesn’t mean I fucking like it though.
Reefer Rick is just Steve.
Okay when Steve was talking about attending to all the customers equally……. Not just babes…….. bisexuality……..
(Also some random punk walked in behind him and punk kid is my new kilt guy)
For some lovely lovely angst I am now headcanoning a scene where vecna gets in Steve’s head and uses Barb’s death and funeral against him like the reporter kid. I think that seeing Steve go through that guilt would be delicious.
Mike calling out Will for being a douche when really he’s just gay and Over It. “Why am I the bad guy” Mike you’ve been a dick for four seasons. Maybe look internally.
El just claw this bitch’s eyes out already. YES SKATE TO THE FACE GO GIRL.
Dustin is so annoying fr he’s the best. “Is that foot?” “No that’s just a shoe.” Steve and Dustin #DreamTeam
Movies and tv stop being too dark for me to see what’s happening challenge.
The little trumpet noises Robin makes SHES SO CUTE.
“Yeah yeah, on Dustin’s mother” this is some fucking Claudia slander and I will not stand for it.
All steve knows is eat hot chip, moan when other boys press up against him, and lie.
Eddie (rightfully) being treated like he’s been traumatized. No one cared about billy no one cared about billy.
They filled Eddie in on all the upside down shit right away. No one cared about billy no one cared about billy.
Vecna doesn’t feel like an Upside Down thing to me. I mean, he’s clearly in the Upside Down, and is a part of it? But the way he’s like up in these people’s heads is weird. I don’t think he’s any part of the mind Flayer because we had that bitch for two seasons, they’d be finished with that.
Also not the demogorgons being able to fly. These bitches have seriously evolved like the fucking graboids in Tremors 1-3.

Why hasn’t this massacre been reported?
Better: Why hasn’t Annie Jacobsen been arrested?
There are several reasons why the massacre of a church at the height of the Sunday morning worship session or the greater tragedy have not been reported by the mass media outlets.
No Victims. Keep reading!
There are victims, all of them were murdered but technically, there are no victims. Murder victims leave bodies, murderers have motives, and evidence is evidence. But the perpetrator here is the CIA. While they may have ceased doing international espionage, they have sharpened their state side skillset. They’ve even partnered with the federal government, held workshops, provide assistance to, and receive assistance from, the FBI, the NSA, and the DEA.
The way each victimless murder occurs is up the CIA officer who assigns the murder. Throughout this entire tragedy, the CIA was utilizing chemical cremation and the victim’s own bathtub to make their bodies disappear. Once the bones are ground, they can be tossed anywhere, they look like gravel.
I actually walked all over my mom, sister, niece and many others at Motel 6 in Decatur. I probably flicked cigarette ashes and dropped a butt on them. Human cremains were the last thing on my mind, I was just standing on gravel. Enough on that for now.
After the body has disappeared, CIA employees or contractors may move into a “hotel” that has been constructed in the victim’s name, social security number, bank accounts, credit cards, etc. The murdered individual never actually dies financially. Depending on the individual and how they were doing financially at their time of death, and what they were doing, or if they had something the CIA needs, the hotels can be occupied by anyone from the actual killer of the hotel namesake all the way to a highly specialized team who are directly employed by the CIA, and have dedicated legal counsel.
I’ve long said, for at least five years now, that the CIA has a hell of a good setup. If they are destroying the lives around you, and you can prove it, the moment you say “CIA” everyone has been told to think of you as paranoid. Everyday folks do the same.
My friend, Jason Rector and I go way back. We may have went for a joyride in his uncle’s vehicle that lasted all night long during the Jessamine Jamboree one year so long ago the statute of limitations should have come and gone by now. Jason and I know each other, know that we can have a good time anytime, anywhere, and not be paranoid or freaked out.
When they started killing my friends, I went to Facebook warning everyone. Jason replied, “When you start talking about black helicopters…” He thought I was paranoid, maybe too high, or just time to rehab. But, I wish he had read. Because he too let them in, and now he’s weird. He and his growing telecom business are now a hotel, the new Jason knows nothing about a joyride that may or may not have ever happened.
If you think warning friends and family is hard, imagine telling people that every word of Prince’s “Sign of the Times” is true and is in part a narrative of the past two years of my life.
When I first started trying to get control of the church and get them out of our church, I copied the media on the letters. They never even asked me a single question.
Some media have called around and asked questions, they have been killed.
Even law enforcement has had losses.
The only way we can get so many on the same page, aware of what happened, and too many for the CIA to kill, is for my Boss to do this thing He’s about to do. Then I have to go to Alphabet Street.
And then… Well they’ll probably screw up the weather forecasts, and have new athletes you’ve never heard of getting all the air time. It’s all about the numbers. That’s my guess, they’ve done it before, that — it’s not really control — it’s just over the top suggestion with reminders, and I know how well the subconscious can think.
I will cover that stuff in the mission23 wiki on github.com. Check out the “Ringing of the Bell” article. That’s what He is about to do!
