No Superman by WhoNatural - E, ~48k words

Scrubs AU. I've never seen Scrubs, but if this fic is anything to go by I probably should. This is one of those fics that I'll re-read every time I see it linked somewhere. If you're into medical dramas, this is a great one. A+

A Functioning Adult’s Field Guide to Enemies With Benefits by BisexualGoblin - E, ~31k words

A delicious case of enemies to lovers, with a boatload of misunderstandings and a hefty case of pining idiots. Love it.

The Importance of Turning Around Three Times Before Lying Down by Otter - M, ~31k words

I'm a sucker for fics where Stiles unwittingly ends up looking after a dog that is very much not a dog, but a Derek. This one is excellent.

Lock All The Doors Behind You by Entanglednow - M, ~25k words

There's just something about a fic where Derek is feral and Stiles is the only one he trusts to get near him. I think this is one of the very first Sterek fics I ever read, and it still hits just right.

We've got Firefighter Derek, we've got Deputy Stiles, we've got wildfires and a delicious bit of slow burn. These are all good things, and they add up to something pretty excellent. 10/10.

I'm Not Asking Questions, I'm Taking My Chances by Keldjinfae - E, ~80k words

Let's get a bit of fantasy going here! Stiles is the prince of a kingdom where supernatural entities are banished, Derek is a werewolf with a mission to complete. It's not a Merlin AU, but if you're into Merlin I'm pretty sure you'll love this (and I am very much into Merlin, so obviously I loved it too). The plot had me hooked, and once I started reading I could not stop. 100% recommend.

DILF by Twentysomething - E, ~30k words

I'm not always the biggest one for kid fic, but this one is excellent. Stiles is a kindergarten teacher, Derek is a single parent to his two nephews. There's slow burn and a wolf sanctuary, and some impromptu howling. And Derek is, indeed, a DILF.

The Lawn Ranger by Snowjob - M, ~47k words

High school AU. It's summer, Stiles is a jock with a broken arm and a crush, Derek is the werewolf who gets roped into mowing his lawn. All. Good. Things.

Where the Real Beasts Are by Kaistrex - E, ~109k words

Do I love Stiles as a prince? Yes. Yes I do. Long and plotty and excellent. There are evil Argents, there are direwolves, there's some wonderful slow burn. All things that we love.

Hilarious. Just A+. Derek is hit by a film noir curse, and it's just as perfect as you would imagine.

Stand Fast in Your Enchantments by DevilDoll - E, ~77k words

It's a classic, and I can't not rec it. Derek is feral, Stiles is magical, and they're held captive together. Read it. If you've already read it, heck, why not read it again?! I certainly will.

Wild Horses by ThePsychicClam - E, ~79k words

Ranch AU. Derek is a drifter that ends up at the Stilinski's failing ranch. I love this one. It has all the wonderful slow-burn UST goodness that I love, plus horses! 10/10 would recommend.

2. Do you read/reread your own fics?

Rarely! The thing is, I do minimum 2 rounds of editing for each chapter, but it often ends up being 4 or 5 rounds. . . ( ˊᵕˋ； ) So after all that, I usually don't wanna see my writing ever again lol

B u t ! I do reread it once in a while, either to remember elements I wrote (and forgot wince then), or to remember why I enjoyed writing a story in the first place! (*´▽`*)❀

17. What's something you've learned about while doing research for a fic?

SO MANY THINGS Σ٩(๑º ﾛ º๑)۶✨

A short list of things I learnt about are: story structures, facts about Otters, bits and pieces of various mythologies, weapons, assassination attempts, more weapons, poisonous gases, sharks, limits of the human body (in terms of survival). . .

Listen. Be it topics I have researched (and then followed through the hellish rabbit hole that is wikipedia 🐌), writing, or what I actually enjoy writing/reading, it has helped SO MUCH!!

Do not look down on the joys of researching a subject for it only to be dropped or abandoned. It may spark new ideas or be a turning point for your writing, even if researching something can look tedious at first 🐟🐟🐟

when Stereo and Boxxie don't argue (which is rare), they usually talk about their love lives or their past relationshipsq

Stereo and Flaqky's relationship isn't mostly about fvcking, sometimes they spend quality time together as besties.

regarding how ruthless Ste (and sometimes Reo) are, they would NEVER hurt or eat a child, intentionally or unintentionally.

^ as an opposite, as Flaqky is blind and constantly too sad to even fight, she can and will hurt or eat a child, intentionally or unintentionally.

the reason we barely see Wander is because he's mostly helping people back at his universe with Stereo's portals instead of using an orbble now.

as of 2023, Stereo HAS told someone to uhm, keys without the e 3 times and hasn't been cancelled, but Boxxie said it once and got cancelled.

Ste's lustful personality masks his drippy, sad, and heartbroken interior.

whenever Ste or Reo get mad, they turn into FIRE.

^ as a follow-up, whenever they're sad, they js turn into WATER.

Boxxie is the only one who doesn't chase a laser pointer whenever she sees (or hears in Flaqky's case) it.

The Squad canonically has multiple pets (two otters named Gordie and Jean-Jaques, a silly three headed dog named Cerberus and 50 cats named after sauces and spices and other substances) and wild animals chilling at their base.

Stereo and Boxxie once teamed up to kill someone after seeing a fanfic of them kissing. (guys im sorry i thought this one was funny)

the ENTIRE Squad is aware that there are multiple versions of them in different universes.

3 members of The Squad have been jokingly called the Mythicals (due to the thing about Boxxie playing trombone, Flaqky being a bassoonist, (she STILL can't spell) and Stereo being a vocalist (basically Strombonin, G'joob, and Yawstrich)

there's a Helluva Boss universe of The Squad. (as in Stereo being Stolas, Flaqky being Blitzø, Etno being uh.. STELLA.. Boxxie being Moxxie (as a joke since Boxxie is js Moxxie but the M is replaced with a B, and Boxxie is an angel while Moxxie is uh, an IMP. and Wander as Millie)

^ i forgot to add Salt and Pepper and also Splendoes because i forgot they existed plus they're both my OCs and they barely count as TS members. (in common with Etno.) but Splendoes, although a 2 year old, would be Loona since she canonically IS adopted by Flaqky.

^ as a follow-up Salt and Pepper would probably be Octavia due to being Stereo's kid.

he waddles absolutely everywhere

We know he's obsessed with whales and otters but he's also really into butterflies too and constantly is wearing butterfly shirts he doesn't care that they're "girly" or sparkly

Plays with his curls when he's winding down/really sleepy

He's a big reader... he will often come up to you holding his little book and tug your hand because he's leading you to where he wants you to sit down. And then when you're sitting, plops down in your lap and opens the book

He does a lot of things wordlessly (bordering on nonverbal), he's very quiet if he does speak but that's rare. And you miss his voice a lot when you haven't heard it in a while

In the summer, he's so excited to get out the bubble machine and the slip and slide lmao

He does go through one of those phases like every kid where he's obsessed with bandaids and he likes to just wear them even if he doesn't have "an owie"

peddie/kt&joy/nina&amber triple or double date ideas? <3

sdfghjk i can’t see kt/joy and namber on double dates but for peddie and kt/joy:

aquarium date. they spend half their time in the tidepool area and the other half watching the baby sea otters

willow works in some ceramics or art studio or something the summer before uni and gifts joy (and everyone else by extension) a family discount so they all go and take a pottery class, by which i mean joy and kt get very competitive over who can make the biggest bowl or whatever while eddie and patricia fuck around and make a mess

bowling! eddie and kt take it extremely seriously and break the center's records for most strikes per game or whatever while patricia and joy just watch and snack on hamburgers

laser tag!!! they play with a little kid's birthday party and annihilate the seven-years-olds (I'm pretty sure i stole this from a b99 ep but whatever)

they attend a football game. patricia and joy hate it alskfdjl

they go to Hershey's chocolate world and eat chocolate and also spend the day at the park. patricia refuses to go on anything that turns her upside-down so kt promises this one ride won't do that. it does.

kt gets accidentally volunteers to babysit aunt's friend's kid and calls joy up in a panic like "babe idk what I'm doing h e l p" and joy doesn't know anything either so she calls patricia (who's promptly like "why would you ask me the only baby iv been around is alfie" and that leads to a whole discussion). anyway the two of them take a trip to babys r us an arrive at kt's aunt's friend's house with an armload of stuff only to find eddie already there, asleep on the couch with the baby in his arms. this isn't really a date but it is the four of them in the room at the same time so I'm counting it

kt and patricia both go through "i hate cooking, I'm going to live off of mcdonalds" phases at the same time while in uni so eddie and joy plan to make a homemade pizza for them after finals week is over. they make an entire mess (and no food) but it's okay because kt and patricia walk in with some pizza hut pizzas and grocery store cake knowing that would happen

they actually go noodling! well, fishing. except kt hates the smell of dead fish and refuses to participate, joy's too worried about getting sunburnt to actually do anything with her rod, and patricia's in a lazy mood. so eddie's the only one who catches anything and it's the world's tiniest minnow. eddie's mom is not impressed (she promised them a seafood spread for dinner if they were productive) but they don't care, they had fun

the girls go out for pedicures and drag eddie along because there's a discount for 4+-people groups. he gets neon green acrylics and clacks them around on everything for like two weeks

Day 97: Friday April 7, 2023 - “Day at D Zoo”

We were all privileged guests today at the Detroit Zoo and under a beautiful spring sky, we joined Bunnyville with our little bunny, ready to find new exciting things at a big city zoo.  Our friend Lara give us some behind the scenes insight on the runnings of the zoo the night before, along with a brand new Penguin (stuffed) for William to take home.  She also set up a special feeding meet & greet with the Giraffes that was cool for all of us as we joined in the dance on their side of the glass.   

I was surprised to see the Polar Bears roaming about on their grassy knoll, and we also met the big River Otters, a Monitor Lizard, a sleeping Tiger, and Red Panda - all brand new to William’s world.  We wore him out walking around the spacious zoo and he got a little snooze in the borrowed stroller before the grand finale!  We entered the Penguin Pavilion on the way to the end of the day and found them playfully swimming and kicking as if Miss Nicole had taught them the way.  William was in awe of these birds and how could he not? The habitat involved a trip on a sail boat to Antartica where we went down below to view the swimming Penguins under the water.  What a great memorable setup.  Any zoo we go to will have an awfully hard time competing; not just with the penguins, but the whole show today.

My favorite moments from the day were just capturing William’s reactions, and seeing this special place through his eyes.  The way he smiled at other kids, and was in complete awe of the real life swimming turtle.  How he kissed the statue of the monkey, and hugged the statue of the giraffe as if these were his friends and he was a loving guest in their home.  Throwing coins in the fountain as Grandma and Papa marveled at his skill, and how he carefully followed the instruction to be quiet and calm in the giraffe pen with the zoo keeper (who held the snacks).  He may not remember this day as he gets older, but we all will and it will be very special happy memories.  It all becomes the fabric of what we do and how life feels, the rhythm of it.  For him and for us, as a family.
