HAH I FINISHED IT. Will have to get Real Pictures outside when the sun returns. I learned I need to use more strongly textured glass at that scale but overall this has been my smoothest sailing stained glass yet. Straight edges help a lot.

Exciting news: my podcast is back!
In 2018, Gabriel Ugueto (well known palaeo-artist and former herpetologist), Ethan Kocak (New York Times best-selling cartoonist and herpetoculturist), and I (a talkative herpetologist) decided that the world needed a herpetology-focused podcast that featured the latest big news in herpetological research, and took some deep, jargon-heavy dives into the nitty gritty of it all. So we started the SquaMates podcast.
We had a great deal of fun making the podcast, but in the wake of the panini, we struggled to find time for the show and coordinate recording schedules, and the show had to go on hiatus.
But now, after nearly two and a half years, we're back, and I venture to say we're better than ever! Hiral Naik, a snake ecologist from South Africa, has now joined us as a permanent co-host. Moreover, we're now recording and releasing the show in video on YouTube, as well as over normal podcast streams!
Episode 22 will drop on YouTube and podcast apps on Monday 12 February at 10:00 EST, 16:00 CET!
You can listen to the backlog at squamatespod.com, or on apple podcasts and other podcast apps.
I hope you enjoy the show!

"...THE SKULL AND PELVIS PLACE IT IN THE TYRANNOSAUROID SUPERFAMILY. LIKE MANY OTHER THEROPODS, IT ALMOST CERTAINLY HAD FEATHERS."
PIC INFO: Resolution at 1387x1387x1913 -- Spotlight on the Guanlong wucaii, a small to mid-sized early tyrannosaur and a member of the family Proceratosauridae. Unlike your typical tyrannosaur, Guanlong wucaii had long arms and three-fingered hands for grabbing and ripping. But the shape of its teeth, and features in the skull and pelvis place it in the tyrannosauroid superfamily. Like many other theropods, it almost certainly had feathers. Artwork by William Stout, c. 2009.
Genus: Guanlong
Species: wucaii
Family: Proceratosauridae
Super Family: Tyrannosauroidea
Suborder: Theropoda
Order: Saurischia
Superorder: Dinosauria
Class: Reptilia
Subphylum: Vertebrata
Phylum: Chordata
Kingdom: Animalia
Pronounced GWON-long woo-kay-eye
INTRODUCTION: "Named from the Chinese words guan, meaning "crown," and long, meaning "dragon," in reference to its flashy head-crest, the most elaborate of any known theropod dinosaur. The species name comes from the Chinese word wucai meaning "five colours" and refers to the multi-hued rocks at Wucaiwan, the badlands where the fossils were found.
Guanlong wucaii is one of the most primitive tyrannosaurs known. It hunted its prey 95 million years before T. rex lived."

In no particular order have some tales from the sketchbook. I am vicious to myself about the quality of my own work; I think I need to learn to care a lot less and just allow whatever I want to draw/ink to be. Not everything has to floor my community. That's a one way ticket to BurnOut Town. I don't know where I got the idea from that people only want to share in exceptional top-tier work. That's not what art is for.

Hey, there’s been some whispers of potentially a deal between tumblr and a company that does image collection for AI-image generation.
If anything like this gets announced I will EITHER take down all my old posts and repost them with glaze or something similar, OR I will just leave. I have an Art Station account and an instagram I never fuckin use, idk.
I’m also thinking of making a cohost account so I’ll keep y’all updated.
(Also, sorry, I am going to mis-tag this post a little in the hope that some of the people who enjoyed my trans tiktaalik piece but didn’t follow me see this)

Note
artist ask game, 7 and 30 maybe? ^^
7. A medium of art you don't work in but appreciate
The one on my mind at the moment is digital sculpting and animation, there are some absurdly talented artists out there making beautiful dinosaur models and animating them so naturalistically or placing them into stunning scenery and I have no idea how to even start working on something like that but I would love to
30. What piece of yours do you think is underrated
Honestly, there's not much that I feel is particularly underrated? I keep trying to think of ones that didn't get much of a response and each one I come up with I then realise it didn't get a response because I never actually posted it so that one's on me!
I guess the real answer is most of my non-palaeo character stuff, I get it's not the niche most people follow me for but would be cool to see that getting some more love? The most recent characters I've posted is my squad of Clone Wars OCs, if you're interested you can find them here!
