For people who don’t know, I was vegan for two years, vegetarian five years, and then have been pescatarian for the last three years. Yes, that’s 10 years without eating any type of meat. Even as a pescatarian, I ate a mostly vegetarian and plant based diet at home. Eating fish was very rare for me.
I have never been healthy. I was severely malnourished. I could not afford to feed myself. I was poor and had a limited diet. It sucked!! So about a week ago I said fuck it and stopped my diet. I started eating meat again because it was more accessible for me. It was not an easy choice and I hated that me being poor stopped me from being able to have the diet I wanted.
I want people to understand that I DID enjoy being on a mostly vegetarian diet. It was great! I loved it. However, I wasn’t able to adequately feed myself and was chronically malnourished. My hair was falling out, my nails were brittle and cracking, my skin was yellowish and acne filled, it was bad. But I did it because it was all I knew since I was 10 years old. I felt bad for quitting.
Everyone’s diets are valid. But as someone who’s tried multiple diets and is chronically ill, I can say with confidence that it did not help my health. Now it’s been a week and I am finally not hungry. I already feel healthier.
Being pescatarian was not for me. It doesn’t mean it doesn’t work for other people. Go you if you’re vegetarian or vegan, or pescatarian, or whatever. But don’t judge people for their diet choices. It isn’t good and doesn’t make you look good.
Do what’s best for you and your health only.

Walnut-Rosemary Crusted Salmon - 222kcal/24g protein

Servings: 4 - 222 kcal/24g protein perserving
2 teaspoons Dijon mustard 
1 clove garlic, minced 
¼ teaspoon lemon zest 
1 teaspoon lemon juice 
1 teaspoon chopped fresh rosemary 
½ teaspoon honey 
½ teaspoon kosher salt 
¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper 
3 tablespoons panko breadcrumbs 
3 tablespoons finely chopped walnuts 
1 teaspoon extra-virgin olive oil 
1 (1 pound) skinless salmon fillet, fresh or frozen 
Olive oil cooking spray 
Chopped fresh parsley and lemon wedges for garnish
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
Combine mustard, garlic, lemon zest, lemon juice, rosemary, honey, salt and crushed red pepper in a small bowl. Combine panko, walnuts and oil in another small bowl.
Place salmon on the prepared baking sheet. Spread the mustard mixture over the fish and sprinkle with the panko mixture, pressing to adhere. Lightly coat with cooking spray.
Bake until the fish flakes easily with a fork, about 8 to 12 minutes, depending on thickness.
Sprinkle with parsley and serve with lemon wedges, if desired.

alright it's time to find smth out
please note that with labels like flexitarian especially it's not about 'oh i never eat these things'; it's a sliding label with things like vegan and vegetarian and pescatarian where you can identify however you feel comfortable. some people just eat meat etc on special occasions or when they go out or when they don't have time/spoons to cook something nutritious, and that's perfectly valid!! whatever you're able to do has an impact that's felt and there's no pressure to do it to whatever standard we have of 'perfect' in our heads <3
