When the bad people, bad things, and bad situations go away
Sometimes God puts a wedge between you and other people to protect you. Sometimes a perceived loss is not a loss at all. It’s God and the universe moving you towards something better and helping you move towards a more peaceful existence. Always move in the direction where you, your gifts, your kindness, and your humanity is celebrated. Don’t ever “cast your pearls amongst swine” by quietly…

July, 2 (Morning) Devotion
“Our heart shall rejoice in Him.”
Psalm 33:21
Blessed is the fact that Christians can rejoice even in the deepest distress; although trouble may surround them, they still sing; and, like many birds, they sing best in their cages. The waves may roll over them, but their souls soon rise to the surface and see the light of God’s countenance; they have a buoyancy about them which keeps their head always above the water, and helps them to sing amid the tempest, “God is with me still.” To whom shall the glory be given? Oh! to Jesus—it is all by Jesus. Trouble does not necessarily bring consolation with it to the believer, but the presence of the Son of God in the fiery furnace with him fills his heart with joy. He is sick and suffering, but Jesus visits him and makes his bed for him. He is dying, and the cold chilly waters of Jordan are gathering about him up to the neck, but Jesus puts His arms around him, and cries, “Fear not, beloved; to die is to be blessed; the waters of death have their fountain-head in heaven; they are not bitter, they are sweet as nectar, for they flow from the throne of God.” As the departing saint wades through the stream, and the billows gather around him, and heart and flesh fail him, the same voice sounds in his ears, “Fear not; I am with thee; be not dismayed; I am thy God.” As he nears the borders of the infinite unknown, and is almost affrighted to enter the realm of shades, Jesus says, “Fear not, it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” Thus strengthened and consoled, the believer is not afraid to die; nay, he is even willing to depart, for since he has seen Jesus as the morning star, he longs to gaze upon Him as the sun in his strength. Truly, the presence of Jesus is all the heaven we desire. He is at once
“The glory of our brightest days;
The comfort of our nights.”

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
God answers prayers. A house becomes a home when there's prayer. That doesn't mean there are no trials or tribulations, but when Jesus becomes part of the equation, there's overwhelming victory. If He is for us, who or what can be against us. He will take care of everything. Even in the midst of the storm, there's peace. There's rejoicing and thanksgiving. Would you make prayer your priority. Pray with your spouse, pray with your children, pray with your friends, pray on your own. The Lord hears your cry and sees your tears. The answer will surely come.

Cards: 6 of pentacles, queen of cups, the knight of wands, strength, two of cups.
In a quaint town nestled between rolling hills and blooming meadows, he, a charismatic and adventurous soul, met her, a compassionate and nurturing spirit. He was the Knight, always seeking new horizons, and she was the Queen, her heart overflowing with kindness. One day, as he was passing through the town, he noticed her sitting by a fountain, her eyes reflecting the depth of the water. Intrigued by her aura of warmth and empathy, he approached her. She, in turn, saw the fire in his eyes and the determination in his stance. Their connection was instant, as if the universe had orchestrated their meeting. He, with his passionate tales of distant lands and daring adventures, fascinated her. She, with her soothing words and caring gestures, captured his heart. The Knight, though adventurous, had a generous heart. He would spend his days helping the townsfolk, sharing his stories, and aiding those in need, all the while stealing glances at the Queen. She admired his strength not just in battles but in the way he stood up for the less fortunate. As their bond deepened, they found solace in each other's arms. their resilience and determination to overcome any obstacle together. Through trials and tribulations, their love only grew stronger, proving that true love could conquer all. Under the light of the moon, with stars as witnesses, they exchanged vows of love and commitment, sealing their union. Their love story became a beacon of hope, inspiring others in the town to believe in the power of love and kindness. And so,they embarked on a lifelong journey together, their love story written in the stars and echoed through the ages, reminding everyone that love, coupled with strength and generosity, could create a harmony that was truly magical.

Cards: The sun, The moon, page of cups, 5 of wands, 3 of cups, 6 of swords.
In a small coastal town, beneath the radiant glow of the sun and the enchanting embrace of the moon, he, a sensitive soul, met her, a vibrant and joyful spirit. Their connection was immediate, like a cosmic force drawing them together. Their love story, however, was not without challenges. The arrival of the enemies of love signalled moments of conflict and tension, testing their relationship. But every disagreement only deepened their understanding of each other, making their bond stronger like tempered steel. In the midst of chaos, they found solace in the tranquil energy. Together, they embarked on a journey, leaving behind the troubles of the past and sailing toward a peaceful future. Hand in hand, they navigated the uncertain waters, relying on each other for support and guidance. Under the golden hues of the sun, he admired her like the moon admires the night sky, with a love so profound that it illuminated his entire being. She, in turn, found comfort in his kindness and the sincerity reflected in his eyes. Their love story became a testament to the power of understanding, patience, and unwavering affection. They marked milestones together, rejoicing in the triumphs of their relationship. Their love, like the sun and the moon, was a perfect balance, each complementing the other in ways that words could not capture. And in the quiet moments between the stars and the sea, they knew they had found something rare and precious—a love destined to shine eternally, just like the sun and the moon in the vast, endless sky.
Picture 3
Cards: The chariot, knight of cups, page of swords, judgement, 9 of wands, 7 of wands, the world and the star.
In a realm where fate wove its tales, there existed a spirited young woman. She had dreams as vast as the world, and her ambitions sparkled like the stars above. One day, she crossed paths with a gallant and poetic soul. His heart overflowed with emotions, and he carried a cup of love that he offered to the world. Their story began in a small town, where she used her sharp intellect to challenge the norms of their society. Him, on the other hand, had recently found his purpose. He was a healer, mending not just bodies but also wounded spirits. Their paths intertwined as they shared their dreams under the vast, watchful eye of the World. But their love was not without challenges. Her resilience, her determination to protect their love from the adversities that tested them. His bravery, his willingness to fight for their relationship even in the face of opposition. Amidst their struggles, they found solace in the Stars, in the night sky. They both found solace in hope. Her dreams illuminated their path, guiding them through the darkness. His gentle heart provided the unwavering support she needed. Their journey was an epic tale of love and perseverance, where the energies of the cards converged to create a bond as unyielding as the mountains and as boundless as the sky. And in each other's arms, they found the strength to conquer every obstacle, writing their love story in the constellations above—a story whispered by the winds and immortalised in the hearts of all who heard of their extraordinary love.

Draft 2 of the demon king request
(I believe this was one of the drafts that @a-bookworms-teashop helped me polish. This was also an intro for the demon king x hero reader, but it ultimately didn’t make the cut. Why was it rejected? Well, it needed more dialog and since I want to fulfill each request perfectly this draft was scrapped.)
(Unedited) Once upon a time there was a strong courageous hero destined to defeat the evil demon king and through many trials, and tribulation, the hero had eventually defeated the demon king. Of course, the people rejoiced and celebrated this win for years to come, at least that’s what they say. However, the truth is after you had defeated the demon king, there was but a brief celebration then everything went back to normal and you were simply another forgotten hero.
The only one that didn’t seem to forget you was the demon king. Who continues resurrecting and often goes out of his way to court you, but that wasn’t entirely abnormal. As you have made many friends, and many enemies, that seem to have gotten the idea that you have intention of romancing them. No idea how or why, but they do think that and it’s caused you to relocate many times. Luckily your garden was unharmed throughout the entire ordeal and perseveres despite how often the world seems intent on destroying the only joy present in your life.
Speaking of which, you are currently tending to your garden, you relished in the peace of the afternoon and the warmth of the sun. There’s a rare smile of your face and for once the world seems alright. Sure, sometimes your mind will drift back to the times of your adventures and you’ll feel a yearning to travel once more, however you never go through with such thoughts. As you were busy pruning your rose bushes, something blocks your sun and causes a shadow to envelop your bush.
You frown and whip your head up to face whomever is blocking your light, your anger quickly turns into annoyance once you realize that the one standing before you is the demon king himself. “Aren’t you supposed to be dead?” A sneer left your mouth, showing just how unhappy you are with his presence.

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. — 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
What should a Christian do always? What should a Christian do without ceasing? What should a Christian do in every circumstance? Our verses for today give us three items the Apostle Paul believes should be constants of the Christian life.
First of all, we should rejoice always. Joy is a fruit of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22). Christians have been baptized with the Holy Spirit and have joy as part of the package. It is incumbent upon us to allow this joy to manifest in our lives even when we don't feel like it. It is significant that this injunction was written by an apostle that had suffered so much. Despite any negative circumstances, Christians have a lot to be joyful about. There should always be an atmosphere of joy surrounding us.
Second, we should pray without ceasing. This does not mean we should give up every activity other than prayer, but that we should maintain a close personal relationship to God. The lines of communication to the Father in heaven should always remain open and we should feel free to share the thoughts, cares, concerns, and desires of our heart with God at any time. God wants us to maintain our relationship to Him. What he doesn't want is for us to go our own way apart from Him.
Finally, we should give thanks in all circumstances. The person who is willing to give thanks in all circumstances is the person who takes Romans 8:28 seriously: "And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose." There are plenty of examples in the Bible of people whose trials, troubles, and tribulations were the very means by which God could use them in mighty ways. Joseph's imprisonment in Egypt, for example, was the vehicle for his elevation to being second only to Pharaoh. One cannot give thanks in all circumstances unless they truly believe that God is working for the good in all things.
These three items are not mere suggestions. They are the very Will of God for us. Let us be full of joy and thanksgiving, and let us pray without ceasing.

How do you suppose the Lord feels when you repent? When you come to him and say, “I’m sorry. I made mistakes. I made wrong choices. I struggled, I want to make it right again, and I hope you can forgive me.”—how do you suppose he feels about that? Here’s what I think he would say. “I’m so proud of you. I’ve seen your struggles and tribulations. Your worth is not diminished, nor my love for you. When your heart was broken, so was mine. When you persevered, I rejoiced. You’re so young in eternity. And when young ones stumble and fall, Father helps them rise. I have so enjoyed helping you rise. Come now, and follow me again.” Why do I think he’d say that? Because I’m a mother watching my children enter the world on their own two feet, and that’s how I feel about them. God is infinitely more loving and merciful than I am. His forgiveness is more generous and complete than mine could ever be. If *my* joy is full when my child perseveres, he must surely overwhelm the whole of humanity with his joy. Don’t run away from him. He’s not waiting to strike you down or shame you. Will you endure some shame and difficulty through the process of repentance? Maybe. But that’s a feature of the human-relational damage repair inherent to repenting from sin. It’s the cross we bear, humbly, to find our way back to the path. God is not ashamed to call you his child. He’ll get you through anything to come. But don’t be afraid of him. He knows what your heart and mind have been through, and when you come to him, he rejoices. Prodigal, come home. There’s a celebration waiting for you...

“You suffer in this present life, which is only a dream, and a short one at that. Rejoice, because your Father God loves you so much, and if you put no obstacles in his way, after this bad dream he will give you a good awakening.”

Romans 12:1 Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.
Rejoice in progress, work to reduce earthly suffering, actively participate in your own life.
Hope, patience, and constancy are passive attributes which can be useful in the right circumstances. But we also have the capacity for active participation in our own lives, communities, and cultures.
Reducing ourselves to depend on god just makes everything smaller.
