Third person POV:

Ever since y/n joined Red Bull racing, there had never been a single moment of sadness.

Y/n was loved by one and all. She was an icon in so many people's eyes.

Her and Max were the greatest duo the paddock had ever seen. Winning races upon races, most with a 1-2 finish with both alternating top position.

They were an odd pairing for sure. Fiery rage paired up with calm and collectedness? Unheard of.

Max POV:

I was walking around the paddock when I bumped into y/n who was holding a massive camera in her hands and interviewing people around her.

"Oh hey Max! Are you excited for today's race? Who do you think will win?" She asked me in her most 'formal' voice.

I chuckled and responded "I am quite excited for today's race, Belgium is like my second home. I would say I will win today but something tells me otherwise" I added that last line since she was looking at me as if she was going to murder me if I didn't say she would win.

"Thanks Max! Catch you later" was all she said before she skipped away happily.

God she's so beautiful. She's kind. It gives me butterflies.

I've never felt this with anyone, not even Kelly. I mean she's nice and all but I don't think she's the one for me.

Kelly POV:

I was looking around for Max when I saw him talking to y/n, who was interviewing him by the looks of it.

After she left he kept staring at her and started blushing. Was he in love with her?

It wouldn't be very unlikely. He hasn't really been very affectionate lately and he's been spending more time with either her or Penelope.

I feel like he's falling out of love with me.

How can he recklessly fall in love like that? I'm his girlfriend!

I have to get him to stop interacting with y/n, otherwise I'll lose him. I need him for the money, I can't lose him at any cost.

Y/n POV:

I felt Max staring at me as I left or maybe i was imagining things. I am so madly in love with him I might be delusional, but he loves someone else.

I sigh and continue interviewing people as I was told by Martin Brundle who was trying to make a fun behind the scenes episode for sky sports.

Timeskip:

I got out of the car and stood proudly on top of my car, my 5th race win this season and I was officially in the lead in the drivers championship.

After podium celebrations I was making my way to my driver's room to relax for a bit before interviews when I heard some yelling coming from Max's room.

Being the curious person I was, I eavesdropped.

Max POV:

I was relaxing in my room after a decent race, P2 was a pretty good result.

Suddenly the door slammed open revealing my angry girlfriend, oh god this was going to be hell.

"Stop talking to y/n from this instant on." She said curtly.

"Who are you to tell me who I can talk to and who I can't huh?" I snapped back

"IM YOUR FUCKING GIRLFRIEND. WHO IS LOOKING OUT FOR YOU! I SEE THE WAY YOU LOOK AT HER-" she screamed.

"WELL JUST BECAUSE YOU'RE MY GIRLFRIEND DOES NOT MEAN THAT YOU GET TO CONTROL MY LIFE! AND YEA MAYBE I LIKE Y/N SO WHAT?" I yelled. This girl is getting on my nerves.

"SEE YOU ADMIT IT YOURSELF! YOU LIKE HER! EVEN WHEN YOU HAVE A GIRLFRIEND! HOW SHAMELESS CAN YOU BE?" She continued

"You know what? I'm done. Done with this relationship. You've never been supportive ever. It's as if you're with me for my money and that it. So kindly get the fuck out, gold digger" I was so happy to get all the feelings against her off my chest.

She looked at me in disbelief and walked out.

Y/n walked in right after Kelly left. Did she hear the argument?

"Are you alright Max? That argument sounded intense" she asked with concern showing in her eyes

"Yeah. I'm alright. Did you..uhm hear what we argued about?" I questioned

"Uhm...yea" she replied shyly

Unfortunately, my grandma is the only person irl who shares my love of the Beatles, so we had a movie night and watched a Hard Day's Night and it was a blast! Here are some of my thoughts and comments on the film and some of my favorite parts/quotes (sorry if it's out of order):

• the opening is obviously iconic, I love how George and Ringo fall and almost get fucking trampled and we aren't even a minute in yet

• also the way John just laughs at them took me tf out, I love it

• Paul's grandfather was fucking helarious

• my grandma was singing all of the songs so loudly that I couldn't hear any of them 💀

• "Tell me, how did you find America?" "Turn left to Greenland"

• "What do you call that hairstyle you are wearing?" "Arthur"

• the entire part where George is mistaken for a teen model had me cackling

• "do not breathe on me, Adrian"

• "grotty" should be used more

• I love how the manager was basically just like a babysitter trying to take care of four out of control children

• I did not appreciate the Ringo's nose slander, his nose is beautiful

• Ringo's wack ass dancing was so amusing to me

• John randomly oinking like a pig caught me off guard tbh

• since I watched Nowhere Boy directly before this and almost cried, this line tore out my heart

• the scenes of Ringo with the kid were so random but also so wholesome

• the whole mistaken identity scene with John and the lady had me laughing and blushing, oh my God

• since my grandma is a George girl, she was simping hardcore during his song, it was so cute

• she literally yelled "I've got dibs on George!"

• my grandma also doesn't laugh when she thinks stuff is funny for some reason, so it was basically just me cackling in the otherwise silent living room the whole time

• she kept looking over to me throughout the film and finally said, "man, you're all over John the whole movie, huh?" 😭

• please, she can't talk, this women literally ran up to the TV and touched George's face 🤣

• okay, I know I'm going to sound delusional as fuck but just hear me out-

During this exact particular scene:

I swear to God, for a second I thought I could smell John through the screen. So, the whole room just smelled like nothing basically, but when the camera was on John straight ahead in this scene after he's talking to the lady in the hall, my senses just exploded basically. I suddenly smelled strong tobacco and cigarette smoke, along with a clean sweet smell and citrus. It's like when someone walks by you with a lot of cologne or something and you are hit by it? It was like that with the sudden angle change when it went to this shot of John. It was the weirdest shit. I know it sounds dramatic and like I'm making it up, but weirdly enough it's happened to both me and another family member a few times with other movies, but idk why lol. Then when John went up the stairs it faded away and didn't come back. No one smokes in their house either and there was no smell like any of that in the room before, so it was really weird but also oddly comforting. Anyways, I'm probably just going insaine.

you notice a strain in kazuha’s smile today and for some reason, he’s hardly looked at you since knocking at your door. maybe it’s the stress getting to him? well, what he’s stressing about is unknown to you but you hope to cheer him up a little as you fall in line at the cafeteria.

that is, until you saw a flash of green, heard a resounding crack, and suddenly kazuha’s on the ground sporting a broken nose as venti clutched his aching knuckles.

“what the—!”

“you liar!” venti grabs kazuha, who's still recovering from the shock, by the collar. “i’m not usually such a violent person but i think you deserve it, sneaky little shit.”

you approach the pair slowly, “venti, let him—” but hutao grabs hold of your arm firmly, hindering you from coming to kazuha’s aid.

your best friend had an unreadable look on her face. her brows knitted together in anger but you notice the concern in her star-shaped eyes.

“why… what’s wrong?”

xiangling’s head is bowed when she approaches you with her phone in hand, it’s already unlocked, the screen showing what seems to be a twitter thread. your eyes immediately spotted the pink of a certain girl’s hair in their icon.

what you can’t wrap your head around is the tweet.

izumi’s tweet said—

“no,” you say, unconsciously. “that isn’t—that’s not…” you stutter, voice hesitant before handing back her phone.

kazuha hears your voice break and he pushes venti off of him to make his way towards you. damn it. why did venti and your friends have to make such a commotion in the cafeteria? thank god, there aren’t many students yet otherwise, this will be posted all over the freedom wall again.

“princess, wait, this isn’t what it looks like—”

“oh, shut up!” xiangling quips, much to your surprise.

“is it true?” you whisper, eyes dead straight on kazuha’s. “tell me these aren’t real. that this is another ploy for izumi to ruin my relationship—kazuha, please. just tell me these aren’t true and…” your voice breaks, oozing with desperation and hurt as a tear falls down your cheeks. no way. these aren’t true. your kazuha isn’t like that. you know him. right? “tell me these aren’t true so we can go have breakfast already… hm?”

but the fact that he cannot even lift his head to look at you spoke volumes.

“hey,” you speak through gritted teeth. “why can't you look at me? fucking answer me!”

your outburst grabs everyone’s attention. hutao visibly winces and clutches xiangling’s shirt tighter, your voice sounded so fragile, so broken. “just… please. not after all we’ve been through, and this is who you really are? after everything i said about haruki, but you’ve been helping him all along? did you enjoy seeing me live through that trauma again?!”

his fingernails dig crescent moons in his palms as he finally gathers the courage to speak. “i had no other choice, okay? i just wanted to make you happy—”

your palm smarts as it drops to your side but your eyes stay glued on kazuha's slowly reddening cheek. “make me happy? are you hearing yourself right now? sending my psychotic ex after me was supposed to make me happy?”

“obviously, no! i just… i just wanted to give you a little push in the right direction!” he exclaims, eyes distraught. "i thought maybe it'll help you… realize things that being with me isn't so bad! i mean, you were happy with me aren't you? don't deny that."

you backed away as kazuha started approaching you but venti immediately put a firm hand on his shoulder, in which the blond aggressively shook it off with a glare.

kazuha's eyes become softer as it lands on you. maybe your heart would've fluttered, but due to current revelations, your stomach churns, feeling sick.

“i’ve been showing you that i’m interested in getting together again yet you never gave me the chance! i need you, yn. i need you in my life just as much as you need me! remember, who has been making you happy and giving you comfort? me! no one else! and i just used haruki to make you realize that! is that so wrong?! don’t tell me it wasn’t worth it—i mean, we’re happy together aren’t we?!”

“what kind of fucked up logic is that?!”

xingqiu materializes by your side. you haven’t noticed his arrival until you felt his outstretched arm, his body blocking you from your boyf—well, ex boyfriend. again. “don’t you get it? this happiness you are pertaining to isn’t genuine! not when you had manipulated and toyed with not only yn but all of my friends’ feelings!”

kazuha aggressively pushes xingqiu back, making you and the rest of your friends step aside out of reflex.

“how dare you say me and yn’s happiness isn’t genuine! why? i wasn’t wrong when i said she’d been miserable, especially post-breakup with xiao, am i? you’ve seen how she was! i just wanted to help her! plus, you guys were all there. you've seen how happy and in love she is with me! the process doesn't matter when it's all worth it in the end, right?"

xingqiu was breathing heavily, steam coming out of his ears and nose as he tried to convince himself that violence was never the answer. you’d be mad if he got hurt and he knows you’ll just blame yourself so he didn’t want to engage in a fistfight with this blond asshole. but against his better judgment, the ever-composed, ever-calm xingqiu still tackled kazuha to the ground, anyway, causing a stir among a few students and staff across the room.

“you act as if being with you is a price she owes you in exchange for that so-called help of yours! that's all bullshit! she never asked you to do that. she never wanted you to be her anything at all! and now… what the fuck are you saying? ‘it was worth it’? yn was attacked in her own dorm because of you and you say it’s worth it?!”

kazuha groans, trying to push xingqiu away but he had underestimated the blue-haired boy, who looks stronger than he looks.

“the fuck you saying?! i didn’t attack her, haruki did!”

xingqiu scoffed. he raises his arm to throw a punch but kazuha flips them over. he grabs xingqiu by the collar, hands gripping the fabric so tight the wrinkles will be there until the next wash.

“oh please!” xingqiu started, face scrunching in anger. “haruki was the one who attacked her, but the person who instructed him to do it is far shittier than he was. you are way shittier than he was!”

“you fucking shit—”

"hey! what's going on here?!"

someone must have reported the scene in the cafeteria. your friends and now ex-boyfriend didn't have the chance to escape the cranky guidance counselor as she stands in the middle of the fight, hands on her hips. "this is unacceptable! everyone to my office right now!"

hutao looks behind her to where she last saw you but the spot is now empty. she curses. "xiangling," she whispers. "yn's gone. i think she walked out."

the benches at the soccer field are empty in the morning. expected, considering the school admin is stingy and doesn't let students in unless there's a game or a pe class. you would've climbed the fence… until you notice the wired gate already unlocked and a figure sitting alone on the benches staring at nothing. his jacket's hood was up and you couldn't see his face until you approached him.

your eyes widen, the last person you expected to see staring at you with a familiar look in his eyes.

"xiao."

he doesn't say anything at first, merely staring. until he realized you had called his name and proceeded to keep his head down to avoid eye contact.

"didn't expect to see you here," he mutters slowly, hands fisted inside his jacket pockets.

you sigh, annoyed at the awkward atmosphere between you two. well, it only made sense considering this is the first time you've seen each other in person ever since the truth came out.

"and you look like shit," you reply, putting a good arm's length distance between you two as you sat next to him.

silence envelopes you both until xiao decides to break it. even then he doesn't spare you a glance so you do the same and stare forward.

"did you just come from the cafeteria? i saw the guidance counselor coming there with a bunch of students in her trail. she didn't look happy."

you force out a laugh. "venti broke kazuha's nose and xingqiu tackled him to the ground. of course she won't be happy to be greeted with a fistfight before she can even take a sip of her morning coffee."

"…fistfight?" only then does he look at you, actually looks at you and meets your eyes. "you look like you've been crying."

you immediately jerk your face away from his view before asking in a hushed tone. "have you seen it… izumi's thread on twitter?"

"no, i blocked her on all my socials the moment we broke up." he side-eyes you, glancing at your hunched back in slight curiosity. "why? should i not?"

"nah, you should. i'm glad you've woken up and broken free from that manipulative bitch."

"uh, thanks?" at this, you genuinely laugh at xiao's awkward tone. "did i miss something? did she perhaps do something to you? or spread rumors about you again?"

xiao's arms reach forward to make you look at him but he shies away, hands mere centimeters from grabbing your arm. he quickly retracts it and tries to act normally after you straighten up and face front.

"no," you answer. "…no, uhm, i guess i owe her one because i never would've known if it wasn't for that damn twitter thread."

xiao sneaks a peek at your impassive face. "known what?"

it took a moment for you to say it. you looked down, as if ashamed, staring at your fiddling hands. "kazuha was helping haruki. both he and izumi were in on it, yes, but kazuha's mostly the one pulling the strings on my ex." you shrug, fighting off tears of betrayal. "he said—uh, he said it was… worth it if it meant we got together in the end."

xiao shrugs his hood off his head, chuckling in disbelief. "well, thank god i wasn't in the cafeteria or i would've joined in on the fistfight."

you laugh a little. "please, your punch slaps like a wet noodle."

"hey! it does not!" xiao's pouty face and big amber-colored eyes make you laugh harder. "the punching machine was broken at the arcade we used to hang out—you know this, yn! i do know how to throw a punch."

"well," you daringly poke his side, momentarily forgetting boundaries. "it was at first, until we went to a different arcade and you got the same shitty results."

xiao sees a smile appear on your lips and he can't help but long for the time when everything had been so simple. no izumi. no kazuha. no drama. it was just xiao and you. sure your relationship was far from perfect and you had your fights here and there, but you were happy and willing to work it through with him just as much as xiao was.

a comfortable silence befalls you both. distantly, you hear a bell ring, making you look down on your wristwatch to check the time. damn, if you run now, maybe you'll get lucky and make it to the classroom before your professor does.

"you should go. wouldn't want you to be late," xiao comments, noticing you staring at your watch before staring over your shoulder toward the building's entrance.

you shrug. "no, i kind of wanna skip class for today."

xiao nods but doesn't say anything. the breeze picks up and ruffles your hair as he contemplates whether he should say these next words to you or not.

he clears his throat. you deserved to hear it.

"yn, i'm sorry."

you opened your mouth to say something, until you noticed his distraught eyes and realized he wasn't finished speaking yet and was simply gathering his words.

"you know, when i found out the truth? i think that's when i truly realized how much i fucked up our relationship. you're amazing and i don't blame you for anything. it's really all me. i pushed you away and then i started trusting some other girl without giving you a chance to defend yourself. i was wrong," he shakes his head, disappointed in his own actions. "i even turned my back on my best friend, venti. i don't blame him for hating me. i deserve it. i was stupid. i'm sorry."

you smile. "i'm sure venti will understand. you know him, he's dramatic and a certified shit-talker but he loves you."

there's newfound courage that sparked inside xiao's heart upon seeing your gentle smile. you looked tired, but you look as beautiful as the day xiao first laid his eyes on you.

"i think some part of me knew, that what venti was saying is true. that i never really loved izumi. i just got together with her because… she reminds me of you."

your heart skips a beat. you hope your face betrays nothing of your emotions. you remain silent, urging him to continue.

"she was like, the second best thing but i think i knew deep down she can never measure up to you. i think i knew i can never love her the way i did with…" flustered and as if suddenly realizing what he's saying, his head jerks to look at you, eyes wide and panicked. "i mean! no—i'm sorry. i don't think you wanted to hear this, i'm sorry. not that i'm trying to get back with you, okay? it's just—"

"a year? i think a year is sufficient enough," you cut him off.

he blinks, confused. "…a year?"

you look at him, truly look at him. his oversized jacket, the many piercings on his ears, and the smudged, uneven eyeliner on his eyes.

"you know, kazuha felt threatened when he found out i knew about the truth about our break-up. got all jealous and possessive and made me swear i won't leave him… kinda like you did."

he winces and fought the urge to cover his ears. jesus. he sounds awful.

you offer him a sad smile. "i can't be in a relationship now—you and me both. not after everything that's happened. i hope you understand, xiao. i mean, i genuinely did want to learn how to love kazuha but…"

"no, i get it," he nods reassuringly. "what you went through is traumatic and fucked up. i mean—you don't have to say that, about you and relationships. i didn't tell you what i truly felt about izumi because i wanted to get you back or i'm trying to imply something—"

"shush," you cut him off. "i said 'now.' i can't be in a relationship 'now' but who knows…" you gave him the side-eye. "maybe it'll change in a year."

xiao can't believe what he's hearing. he almost wants to slap himself to check if he wasn't dreaming.

"are you…"

"implying we get back together?" you finish. he almost chokes. "well, who knows? a lot can happen in a year, anyway. i'm not saying i want to get back together with you, but i'm not outrightly opposed to the idea either."

"this is confusing me."

you laugh, standing up to bid him goodbye, who fails to return the sentiment out of pure shock.

"i'll give you a year, xiao. show me you've changed. if by then we still feel the same way for each other, then we'll talk."

Yesterday we visited the Eiffel Tower (it was absolutely amazing), and since today we had a trip to some castles in the Valley of Loire, we spent several hours in the bus, and I happened to write a fic in which A.F.C. Richmond goes to the Eiffel Tower. Here you can find a couple of snapshots about Richmond's visit. Sets somewhere after Season 3, Episode 6, but otherwise it's completely out of context. (And I haven't seen Episode 9 yet)

"A lamppost with a publicist, huh?" Ted Lasso burst out as he looked up at the enormous iron tower in on the other side of the road. He knew that it was an iconic building, but having it in front of his very eyes he felt a little overwhelmed by it. His heart even skipped a beat as he looked up at it.

"I wasn't serious about that, Ted," Rebecca Welton said, making the rest of the group look at her.

Leslie Higgins' mouth dropped open as he glanced at his boss. "You said what?"

"Are you fucking kidding me?" Keeley Jones asked.

"This is the fucking most impressive building I've ever seen!" Roy burst out.

Coach Beard just shook his head, while Trent Crimm was curiously observing the scene, although the club owner could tell he was judging her as well.

"I can't believe you really said that," Matthijs admitted, although his lips was curling up into a smile. The bald Dutchman found the whole situation rather amusing. This football team hadn't ceased to amaze him ever since he first set foot in the Doghouse in Richmond.

"I just said that to make you feel better," Rebecca said. "Why the fuck else I'd bash the Eiffel Tower?"

"Because it's French?" Trent wondered.

"Well, besides that."

"Thanks, Boss; the balance of the Force has been restored," Ted said with a nod.

"Amen," Higgins added.

Standing in the queue, Ted Lasso was admiring the structure of the tower, still watching the enormous building in awe. His stomach jumped a little as he noticed how tiny were the people walking up and down on the stairs.

"Coach," he heard a deep voice next to him, and looking at his left, he saw Isaac McAdoo, looking a little sick.

"Is everything okay, Isaac?" he wondered.

"Can we have a drink before we go up there?" The captain asked.

"You mean, a beer or something?"

"Something stronger than that."

"Vertigo?" the moustached man raised a brow.

"Is that a cocktail?"

"It's a song by U2," Trent said, "but I think you meant the fear of heights."

"Yeah, that," Ted nodded. "Is there such a song?"

"Hello, hello, hola, I'm at a place called Vertigo," the former journalist sang. "Or something like that."

"Is it possible?" Isaac asked, changing the topic back.

Ted looked backwards to see the end of the queue that was longer behind than in front of them.

"I think only when we're up there," Ted told him. "You can do it before you look out. It's gonna be okay, don't worry."

"Thanks, Coach," Isaac said, and before he rejoined his teammates, he turned to Tent. "Don't you write that down."

And the former reporter just shook his head.

"Is everything okay, Will?" Higgins asked, stepping to the kitman who was watching the elevator moving up and down.

"Yeah, all is well," the boy replied. "I just can't get a song out of my head."

"Which song?"

"From Mamma Mia. You know, 'something-something-something by the Eiffel Tower...' I can't remember how it goes exactly."

"I know which one you mean," the director said and then he started to sing. "'I can still recall our last summer, I still see it all...'"

"'Walks along the Seine, laughing in the rain,'" Will continued as the lines started coming to his mind.

"'Our last summer, memories that remain,'" Rebecca joined them as well, still in the queue.

Hearing the singing, some players took out their phones: either to look for the lyrics or to record the performance. By the time they got to the first chorus, the entire team were all singing together.

As the elevator's doors closed, so did Isaac's eyes and sweat appeared on his temple as he tried to focus on his breathing. His low cursing got lost in the rest of the team's excited chitchat. He swallowed thickly as the elevator began to ascend and he squeezed his eyes shut as much as he could. Then he felt a hand on his shoulder.

"You're a strong and capable man," he heard Colin Hughes' voice. "You can do it."

He took a deep breath, inhaling Richard's strong cologne mixing with Colin's deodorant - Lime? Really? - and then he exhaled slowly.

"I'm a strong and capaple man," he repeated.

And he slowly opened his eyes.

The summer is almost over and I can't leave the season without this classic—Almost Famous (2000), dir. Cameron Crowe. I used to think it was a perfect start-of-summer film, but I'm realizing may be better suited to these late August, early September weeks.

I read a comment the other day from someone who was not the biggest fan of Philip Seymour Hoffman's acting, who said the real test of his skills and legacy would be which of his performances would stand the test of time. They doubted any of them would—he didn't have any "iconic" characters, they argued.

While I obviously disagree with their entire assessment—for just one example, The Master and his other projects with PTA will be/remain classics 50 years from now—it did make me think. Phil was, though it's a touchy term, often described as a character actor. Even when he was a leading man, he wasn't playing himself. An actual quote from him in 2002 I just found: "Even if I was hired into a leading-man part, I'd probably turn it into the non-leading-man part." He doesn't have an Indiana Jones, a James Bond, but I don't think that disqualifies him from having iconic or lasting characters.

That's what came to mind rewatching Almost Famous tonight, and I might argue Lester Bangs is PSH's most iconic character. If you consider the ratio between screen time and cultural influence, there's probably zero competition among his roles—under eight minutes of screen time vs. untold thousands of people who still quote, gif, share, gif, write, post, and otherwise remember and feel inspired by his words, over two decades later. (Dusty Davis might be the second-most influential, considering how many people got into storm-chasing thanks to Twister). He's a voice for generations of music lovers, film lovers, everyone who watched Almost Famous for the first time and fell in love with its magic or sided with Bangs' cynicism.

What does it matter what some stranger on the internet says, anyway. Whether people will be watching dozens of his films in 80 years or just a few or none at all, we're watching them now. Last night I found a tribute from film critic Brian Tallerico, from the days after Phil's death: "In Mary and Max, [PSH's character] Max says... 'We can, however, choose our friends, and I am glad I have chosen you.' Hoffman felt like more of a friend than another actor. And I am glad he chose us."

Patrick Fugit, playing William Miler, was just 16 when he starred in Almost Famous, his first movie ever. Phil was violently sick with the flu while filming, sweating and shaking and throwing up between takes. But he still found time to look out for others. Patrick wrote this remembrance of working with Phil, which is making me cry a lot as I reread it tonight:

They had lit the scene quite bright from the outside and the light was just behind Philip. So every time I would look at Philip, I would start squinting and my eyes would start watering, so I would kind of look down at the paper pad to pretend I was writing. They kept telling me, “Hey, you have to look at Philip when you read your lines.” I didn’t know how to say that I can’t actually physically keep my eyes on Philip but Philip had been watching me. He’s like, “Guys, c’mon! Can’t we move the fucking light? I mean, the kid can barely look across the table!” And he and [cinematographer] John Toll kind of got into it. John was like, “We’ll adjust it a little bit but the light’s there for a reason, buddy. We got to light the scene.” Philip said, “Fuck lighting! Do you want it to look fucking good or do you want the kid to be able to act!” ... Then they’re like, “Okay, we’ll move the light,” and then we shot the scene. But it was the first time where I got in a situation where I didn’t know if I could stand up for myself. And he just stepped up and did it for me. And then he kind of looked at me and smiled and said, “Dude, if something’s bothering you, you have to speak up.” I was like, “Okay, yeah, yeah, totally.”

There's honestly so much to say about Cloud and Rufus because, let's face it, Rufus has been underappreciated and overlooked for YEARS (and the Turks, too, while I'm rambling again, but that's for another day...). Back in the OG, I get why that is because of his stereotypical portrayal and lack of screentime.

I 100% BELIEVE that Rufus would make a better romantic partner for Cloud than literally ANYONE ELSE in the series. Yes, that includes T*fa and Aer*th. Why, you ask? See next part.

Rufus and Cloud both love their mothers (Rufus's mother died when he was young) deeply, and don't have much of a relationship with their fathers (Cloud's father was too much of a "free spirit" and got eaten by fiends, as stated in ToTP, and Cloud knows what his mother tells him; Rufus's father was neglectful, and Rufus grows up hating/resenting him, as stated in OtWtS). Both hide their loneliness growing up by acting stoic and cool, and they carry this in their adult lives, too.

Both of them grew DESPARATELY trying to be somebody important and prove themselves to others. And for those who don't know, Rufus DOES crave his father's acknowledgement since he was a child as stated in the novels (he still hates his guts, of course). By the time they're both adults, they even know how childishly rebellious they acted, but they still struggle with their insecurities and loneliness. Again, Rebirth is making those two points in particular VERY OBVIOUS outside the books.

It's true, so much of Rufus' history and then character development is hidden behind a wall-of-entry, so to speak, and that does suck. You really just can't get the full depth and breadth of him as a character, especially as he's being fleshed out in Remake/Rebirth, without that background. Or, at least, you'd be missing a lot.

I don't want to focus too much on who is 'best' to ship Cloud with, I'm not here for that and I think the reason I love this world so much is because of the strength and uniqueness of the interpersonal relationships. I think the people around both of them are integral to their lives and development, 'yes men' or otherwise. That said, I do believe they're good foils to one another and that it's a great ship. Considering the people who are left after Meteorfall and then Bahamut Sin, I can't say I'd be entirely disappointed or shocked if Cloud and Rufus did not become closer allies...and then closer other things are possible. Which is the only window I need 😈

What I'm really interested in with Rufus is the exploration of this desire to pay back what Shinra owes, how deep it could go, how his own near-death experiences shaped him, and how the people close to him followed whatever path he decided to take, regardless. It really is a lot like Cloud's story. He takes his group down an extremely dangerous path, unbeknownst to him (and them), and everyone suffers for it, but the intense bond they have, the ability to forgive and see a bigger picture, keeps all of his loved ones close and still believing in him.

Hello! I have one quick question. Who is your favorite dr eggman boss fight? Mine is Egg Emperor because of 3 reasons.

1 reason: he is the final boss of my favorite sonic game

2 reason: the music is just chef kiss

Aaagghh it's hard to choose because he has so many great ones, especially when it comes to the designs! So I can't order them properly or possibly list all my favorites but I'll put some of the ones I think of and go back to the most for both design and actual gameplay here because not all of them have as great gameplay as they look but they're all cool.

My favorite that's actually controlled by the real deal Eggman has to be the Egg Dragoon. The way it has fire, ice, electric, drill, AND bullet attacks is super epic. The separation attack in Generations was pretty cool too. I like how the tail can throw things like when he'd try to swing it to through Sonic off him in Unleashed and throw rocks at him in Forces.

And it has a really awesome design, it's my favorite mech that wasn't modelled to look like himself 💜

My favorite version of the fight is the 360/PS3 Unleashed version of course, it's intense and I love how he gives it his all in throwing everything at Sonic that he's got, it still never fails to get me hyped. I also love how energetic crazy and angry Eggman sounds, he's beautifully threatening and it's my favorite Mike Pollock performance ever so 🥰

I'm still proud of my video of the fight in all three games with all S rank with no damage. You can tell I play them over and over a ton lol

The Egg Emperor is equally loved by me and that's why I have the name. It's metal as fuck, it's designed to look like him, and he made himself into the glorious emperor mech of his empire 💕💜💖💗

I'm just sad that he didn't get to use it himself (though I like to imagine he got to in Generations 3DS and seeing him use it in IDW was a delight). I love his lance and missile abilities and his super fast violent charge that used to make me jump. The music is hype and the way it changes to the repeated 3x loop of the guitar at the peak increases the intensity of the fight. All the teams would've been obliterated if it were actual Eggman in there for sure hehe

This is like looking into a mirror because we're both Eggman enjoyers, Heroes is both our favorite game, and my edit is your icon XD

Honorable mentions would be the Death Egg Robot and Nega Wisp Armor. They have simple gameplay but the Death Egg Robot is a classic with cool abilities to stomp on and shoot spiked arms at Sonic, and one of my favorite designs for being designed to look like himself. And the Nega Wisp Armor is always a blast to play with the speed, music, and the seconds you get to come face to face with Eggman hehe

The Egg Breaker is also actually really cool, I dig the different abilities it has in the different fights, like the mace he can jump and slam down on people and he runs and swings around, the laser beam eyes, and the bombs with his face on them are golden. And also the- okay I'm gonna stop otherwise I'll just be listing every single Eggman boss ever at this point because I love them all for their designs, gameplay or both wjhshksbgkshf

Ok, I have questions to make. I have been reading a few questions here by some anonymous lately, I would like your truest opinion. Why is it soo bad what other people posts in their IG account related to Jeff , is it some kind of a crime what they're doing there ? Have they done something bad, by tagging him in their posts, just because they feel inspired by editingtheir photos and mentioning him ? I'm just curious, I mean, it's something different to see, not everything the same as most people do, it gets kinda repetive. I don't know, but I think people should respect of what they do. Because for now, those people haven't disrespected Jeff nothing at all. If it would, he would have opened his mouth and said it to them, don't you think? And i believe the reason why Jeff has only selected posts in his tagging side, think... maybe it's because he get tons of tags about him and he just pick what he likes, that's it. hi there anon, first of all I want to say thank you for your side of things related to this discussion we've been having about Jeff's instagram page and his tagged posts and the fan pages dedicated to him too. I've always been of the mindset that everyone should have a chance to voice their thoughts and feel safe enough to share their opinions over here; and I hope whoever chooses to reply to this post will be respectful of your ideas, because I do see your point in all of this.

And I do agree, nothing has been inappropriate or in any shape of form disrespectful either - trust me, I may not have gone to look myself, but I have heard of a loooot more.... *ahem* let's say... problematic things from different fandoms that happen on IG in regards to celebs getting tagged in certain pictures and posts, which definitely is not what's happening here at all! I don't believe that expressing one's creativity and sharing it with others and even tagging Jeff is a crime, we all have the freedom to make art and put it out in the world, photo-edits and otherwise, when they're mindful of his life and pictures that he shares with us. In fact, I do think that there's a wonderful sense of community that he could very well know about which shows him that he has so many fans who love him and adore him and celebrate his works - fandom is very important to actors and actresses and all other artists so everything you say lines up.

If anything, the "issue" - forgive me for wording it that way, it's the first thing I thought of - is seemingly with tagging Ashley in posts when her account has been made private; again, every person here has their own interpretation of whether it's good or bad, right or wrong, uncomfortable or not. Her profile used to be open to everyone and now that it's not, perhaps she did so in order to reclaim a sense of privacy; she isn't part of the celebrity world, she's the family member of someone who is and I would think in that sense, there could be no harm in tagging her when the posts are respectful and appropriate, but... I can understand why someone else would think the opposite.

In the end, I would say that my personal opinion is that the line between celebs and fans has been known to blur on occasion, not specifically with Jeff Ward mind you, this is a more generalized observation of fandom culture I've witnessed over the last decade or so - there's two sides to everything, we've got the fans who simply just want to meet their favorites at a convention, speak to them and tell them how their lives have been changed because of their impact through their work, get a photograph and/or autograph and share something that they've made. Or even just tag them on IG if they can't reach a physical appearance, because social media has made that connection possible.

On the other side though, there has been and will always be fans who sit behind a computer screen and sometimes a grey icon (not targeting anyone again, anonymous is an option on my blog to let you all have your privacy, so please don't misunderstand that I mean you or any of my anons here, I love getting asks, even if I don't know who they're from, it's actually fun to imagine and hope there's a dozen or more of you out there who talk to me!) and sometimes even off anon, they spout hateful comments and make remarks about people's looks and fashion style and whatnot.

So... as long as we're mindful of the boundaries between celebrities, their families, their friends and us fans, keep everything clean and respectable and appropriate and healthy then... I think we're good :)

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Review

I miss Chadwick Boseman. 

Chadwick Boseman will always be The Black Panther, T'Challa. When news broke that the actor passed from colon cancer in 2020, it was heart-wrenching. Beyond portraying an iconic superhero, the world lost a genuine, kind soul. One that inspired children to want to be like him. One who donated thousands of dollars to programs like the Boys and Girls Club. His passing was tragic, and there will never be another like him. 

As news broke of a Black Panther sequel in the works, everybody wondered, "How do you do a Black Panther sequel without Black Panther?" 

Well, there was an attempt. And it was great. 

After the death of King T'Challa, Queen Ramonda, Shuri, Okoye, and the Dora Milaje work together to protect their nation from other world powers looking to intervene. The Wakandans are skeptical of the other countries that aren't Wakanda. Tensions and emotions are high after the passing of T'challa. And as the Wakandans are so focused on the humans, a new force presents itself as an enemy to Wakanda: the Talokans. 

There's so much in this film that works. Acting-wise, everybody performs amazingly. Letitia Wright, as Shuri, has grown up since the last Black Panther film and has no choice but to grow up and take a role she thought unfathomable. The loss of her brother affected her deeply, shaking her foundation to its core. She found faith in science over tradition for a considerable amount of time. Danai Gurira, as Okoye, grieves in her way and provides excellent chemistry with Shuri and other cast members. But Angela Basset as Queen Ramonda? Her presentation is immaculate. When Ramonda presents herself to her subjects or enemies, she's a majestic beacon of royalty. She's that bitch. But when she's alone with Shuri, she takes off the headwear and appears more vulnerable with her daughter. Basset tightropes between both displays effortlessly. In one of the trailers for Wakanda Forever, there's a snippet that shows Ramonda as she says, "I am the queen of the most powerful nation in the world, and my entire family is gone. Have I not given everything?" The delivery of that line is perfect. That scene is enough proof that Angela Basset deserves an award for her role. 

And as far as antagonists go, Tenoch Huerta makes for a fantastic Namor. In the comics, Namor and his people appear Atlantean with Anglo-Euro origins. Injecting Latin flavor into the character and his civilization was an intriguing choice that I loved seeing as a person of Hispanic heritage. Namor is a top-tier foil to Shuri and the others. His motives are understandable, and the character is menacing. He's not even a villain. I emphasize that he's more of an antagonist. The fight scenes between the Wakandans and the Talokans are energetic and make for a fascinating watch. A particular favorite of mine involves a Talokan and Okoye on a bridge. 

Unfortunately, there are some gripes I harbor with the film. Dominque Thorne plays Riri Williams and makes a fine debut. Her scenes with the Wakandans are a bit lacking. Her character reminds me of Shuri in the first Black Panther. I would've liked something more substantial with her, but I feel that may come in her upcoming show "Ironheart." I look forward to getting more of a taste of her there. Also, lacking screen time were the other Talokans. Namor remains stellar, but his subordinates Namora and Attuma are less memorable as characters. Attuma has a solid fight scene in the movie, but I can't tell you much of anything about either of the character's motives or personality or otherwise. M'Baku is not in the film as much as he should be. And finally, Martin Freeman and Julia-Loius Dreyfus appear in scenes mostly distant from Wakandan's direct conflict, and they're the least interesting parts of the movie. I like Freeman and Dreyfus immensely and in the other Marvel projects they have appeared in, but whenever they were on screen, I found myself wanting to see what Shuri or Namor was doing. Honestly, the scenes with them should have been replaced with more scenes dedicated to building up Namor, Attuma, and Namora's characters. 

So there are a couple of choices they could have made to improve the film but don't get me wrong, it's still great. The acting, action, and heart drive the movie to immense highs. It's my favorite superhero movie I watched this year, and in the top ten films, I saw this year. 4/5.

The movie deserves so much praise, even to the end. Without spoiling, there's only one credit scene in the film, and it's the best post-credits scene any Marvel movie has had. It's not an exciting, thrilling romp that reveals a game changer of a character, like "The Avengers" teasing Thanos. Nor is it something comedic or goofy like the ant playing drums in the end credits scene of "Ant-Man and the Wasp." What makes it the best is that it's a beautiful reveal. It's one more tug at the heartstrings that's sure to leave audiences teary-eyed. 

 A beautiful ode to the wonderful man that was Chadwick Boseman.

Would you care to share your feral thoughts on The Quarry with the class? 👀 🐺

OKAY OKAY OKAY spoilers ahead ofc (mostly just for the ending mac got, which is all playable characters live, no infected other than nick and at some point ryan, all cured at the end, sylas dies, innocence proven. but also some mention of infected dylan) and trigger warnings for like. canon typical violence (blood, amputation...) and i say some mean things about nick lmao

okay so let's start with my strongest character opinions:

Dylan <3 so smart so dumb so iconic. He is both a himbo and a genius nerd and I love him so much. I think he's the best character along with Kaitlyn, his lines are great, he's the only one who's not stupid in unbelievable ways (why was he the only one who thought Nick's leg needed to be cut off? it was so obvious.) but rather in pretty relatable ways (wanting the gun despite being a terrible shot, never trusting his intuition, the whole radio sos thing...) and I think his character is a perfect guy in horror! And the fact that he wants to get laid doesn't stop him from actually trying his best to survive! (*cough* jacob *cough*) Kaitlyn <3 gaslight gatekeep girlboss except she doesn't gaslight, like ever. she doesn't need to. says she's the smartest? true. says she's the leader? true. says she's the best shot and the only one who can use a gun? true. says she's the hottest? true. also LONDON TIPTON LONDON TIPTON BRENDA SONG I LOVE YOU. Jokes aside, Kaitlyn is one of the first times i've seen a woman in a horror game feel real and in a positive way too. I particularly liked how clearly she expresses her feelings about people.

I hate Nick. Like, not for getting infected like a dumbass, or because you can't just cut his damn leg off and let him suffer or bleed out. Nah I hate him because Abi deserves better. Their romance looked so cute at the start. And then you hear him talk with Jacob about it... which was uncomfortable at best!! And then Truth or Dare happens. I think Emma kissing Nick was a good thing, because we got to see that Nick is your good old typical untrustworthy man. He did not need to put that much effort into that kiss- and I know he says he just likes helping Emma make Jacob jealous, but that's stupid. Jacob did not need that much effort to be made jealous, Nick was overdoing it when he very obviously should have held back out of respect for Abi's feelings (which are supposed to be requited!!). All in all he's cheater material. But I can live with that. The worst part is that he's just a dick tbh. In his final moments before turning, the most raw version of himself is an asshole, being aggressive to Abi like it's her fault that he's pathetic? My guy, I know you want to date her and feel like she's not taking you seriously but get over yourself. Also imagine, you feel like you're dying, you're in horrible pain, you can barely think coherently and you ask for reassurance from the person you love... and when they give it to you you don't believe them and get mad over it? I can't possibly imagine being that much of an ass I'm sorry. And don't tell me turning makes everyone an aggressive cunt. Max visibly tries to stay away in the jail cell before the aggression takes over, and Dylan saves Kaitlyn's life! Nick's a dick. One letter away.

Abi's a well-written simp. Okay I, too, hate the "I can fix him" stereotype but Abi's just... such a good version of it. I find it perfectly coherent that this woman who started with pretty low self-esteem and originally refused to say she had feelings for Nick turned to resilient devotion the moment she got invested. It would not have made sense for her to fight to live like other characters do, otherwise. She's a pretty simple character, living for the chance that she can save someone else just by advocating for them, and I think that's nice! Because. Let's be honest. Who in their right mind would want Nick to live if not for Abi's constant "we must save Nick" bs? I wanted him to drown. Stan Abi for being a better person than I am.

Ryan's an ass. Love that for him. That's it that's the opinion.

now my thoughts about the capybaras werewolves:

Why are they not furry. Why do their hair, skin, clothes, everything, just explode in a spray of blood then everything comes back except their clothes???? The werewolved should be fully clothed but it's all drenched in blood.

Why does everyone turn at different speeds? It takes Nick hours, even longer for Laura, but Dylan turns immediately??? My best attempt at an explanation is that it's based on how likely they are to turn someone. I mean, if fucking rabies could turn into a very well-evolved nightmare that optimises infection in horrifying ways, why can't the werewolf curse (which has A LOT of rabies symptoms) be even better? We know Dylan would never bite someone, so there's no point in him staying human long enough to be with others. Nick, however, would've bitten Abi in front of that pool, because the way he's just absolutely pathetic gets people's guard off (like rabid animals being particularly docile at first) even when he says the creepiest shit about being hungry. Laura can and will take every risk and sacrifice anyone, or do any risky thing, so she could (and does.) bite, so keeping her human gets the infection to spread. But that's just my terrible theory. I don't actually think they thought this through.

aaaaaand the plot:

Predictable plot twists. AS THEY SHOULD I'm here to get spooked not to solve a goddamn nonsensical mystery. I'm so thankful that none of the lore is surprising. Glad the hag is everything literally everyone thought she was. Happy it was werewolves whose curse is transmitted through bites. Overjoyed to see Laura and Max survived the prologue and Laura was bitten.

The ending. Look I know it was rushed. But the Sylas bit was boring as fuck lmao. Also the podcast... let me just say nothing. Nvm I'll talk. I do think the characters were funny, and I liked their back and forth, but I wish we could've seen them.
