A Comprehensive Guide to Sherlockian Abbreviations
It has come to my attention that some of you poor lads have no idea what us Sherlockians are referring to.
So, I’m going to do my best to explain! I’ll start simple, so don’t worry.
~
Johnlock: A fictional ship between John Watson and Sherlock Holmes. If you don’t know what this is, I don’t know if I can help you.
Mystrade: A fictional ship between Mycroft Holmes and Greg Lestrade. Even though, well, they’ve barely shared a single scene together.
Adlock: A fictional ship between Irene Adler and Sherlock Holmes. Irene is canonically a lesbian, but you do you, I suppose.
Sheriarty: A fictional ship between Sherlock Holmes and Jim Moriarty. Referenced in TEH as a possible canon solution to Sherlock’s faked death. Also known as ‘Jimlock’.
Sherlolly: A fictional ship between Sherlock Holmes and Molly Hooper. She’s honestly way too good for him.
Warstan: A (sadly) canonical ship between John Watson and Mary Morstan. It’s…okay at the best of times. Dunno what Moftiss was thinking. Also, the ship name is quite awful.
Moftiss: An amalgamation of the names Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat. Used to refer to the writers of BBC Sherlock in unison.
Sherlock Meta: A theory based on careful analysis of an episode/scene of BBC Sherlock. Fan-made.
TJLC: The Johnlock Conspiracy. It’s a giant conspiracy theory involving thousands of metas and such about people who are convinced that Johnlock is the endgame of the show.
TRMoJaS: This reminds me of John and Sherlock. Used by fans when stumbling upon a piece of media that triggers a recollection of the titular characters.
The Secret Episode: A supposedly filmed but unreleased episode of Series Four (?). Highly unreliable, likely a figment of hopeful imaginations.
The Purple Shirt of Sex: A purple button-up that is sinfully tight and parodied, as a result of the buttons always looking like they’re about to pop off. Seriously, go look up Ben in a purple shirt. You won’t regret it.
Tarmac Hell: A scene from His Last Vow in which Sherlock aborts a supposed love confession to John to instead tell him that ‘Sherlock is actually a girl’s name’. Hell for everyone involved.
ACD Canon: Events that happened in the Original Sir Arthur Conan Doyle publications of ‘The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes’. Often referenced in metas.
The Elephant in the Room: A supposed euphemism for Johnlock. Also a popular meta in which elephants are referenced throughout the series of BBC Sherlock.
Character Mirror: A minor or major character meant to simulate another character in actions to recall a certain scene for the audience. (Ex. Sholto/Sherlock, Irene/Sherlock, etc.)
[Sebastian] Moran: A sniper (originally from ACD Canon) referenced often in Sherlock metas, and Moriarty’s right hand man. John mirror. Not included in BBC Sherlock, but a popular part of fandom culture. Often depicted as in an unhealthy relationship with his boss, Jim Moriarty.
The Gay Bar Scene: A deleted scene from BBC Sherlock. John and Sherlock go to a gay bar for entirely heterosexual reasons.
Harriet ‘Harry’ [Watson]: An alcoholic, and also John’s elder sister. Referenced in BBC Sherlock. Often portrayed as being either divorced or married to her wife, Clara.
Victor [Trevor]: Sherlock’s childhood best friend who was murdered by his sister, Eurus. Revealed in TFP. Alternative name is ‘Redbeard’.
TPLoSH: Short for ‘The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes’. It’s a movie in which Sherlock Holmes is canonically gay. It’s often talked about by Moftiss.
Granada Holmes: A seven season Sherlock Holmes TV show starring Jeremy Brett. Many find that Holmes and Watson are essentially married in this series, so a few fans have made the fandom switch to this show.
Richie Verse: The unfinished Holmes and Watson movie trilogy starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law. The titular pair in these films are undeniably in love, and (according to a popular source) may have the first Johnlock canon in cinematic history.
Bisexual Lighting: In which John Watson is bathed in purple, pink, and blue lighting while in a bar. Questionable music plays.
The Gay Pilot: The original unaired pilot of BBC Sherlock. Called the ‘Gay Pilot’ for being incredibly homoerotic, and also for the set looking like a 70s p*rn shoot. Runtime was only an hour, and there were a few notable cast changes, including Angelo and Sally Donovan.
ASiP: A Study in Pink. Episode one, series one of BBC Sherlock. Villains are Jeff Hope and Moriarty.
TBB: The Blind Banker. Episode two, series one of BBC Sherlock. Villains are Shan and M.
TGG: The Great Game. Episode three, series one of BBC Sherlock. Villain is Jim Moriarty.
ASiB: A Scandal in Belgravia. Episode one, series two of BBC Sherlock. Villain is Irene Adler.
THoB: The Hounds of Baskerville. Episode two, series two of BBC Sherlock. Villain is Dr. Bob Frankland.
TRF: The Reichenbach Fall. Episode three, series two of BBC Sherlock. Villain is Jim Moriarty.
TEH: The Empty Hearse. Episode one, series three of BBC Sherlock. Villains are Lord Moran and C.A.M.
TSoT: The Sign of Three. Episode two, series three of BBC Sherlock. Villains are C.A.M., Mayfly Man, and (in my opinion) Mary.
The Stag Night: A sub-class of TSoT. In which Sherlock and John do unspeakably homoerotic things that reek of unresolved sexual tension. The tension is not relieved. They get arrested. Villains are the writers, for queerbaiting their fans.
HLV: His Last Vow. Episode three, series three of BBC Sherlock. Villains are Charles Augustus Magnussen and Mary Watson (Morstan? Rosamund Mary?).
TAB: The Abominable Bride. Episode four, series three of BBC Sherlock. (Originally aired as a TV movie that won a Primetime Emmy.) Also known as the ‘Gay Victorian Fever Dream’ to avid fans. Villains are Emelia Ricoletti, Sir Eustace Carmichael, Jim Moriarty, Mary Watson (Morstan? Rosamund Mary?).
TST: The Six Thatchers. Episode one, series four of BBC Sherlock. Villains are Vivian Norbury, Ajay, and Mary Watson (Morstan? Rosamund Mary?).
TLD: The Lying Detective. Episode two, series four of BBC Sherlock. Villains are Culverton Smith and John Watson.
TFP: The Final Problem. Episode three, series four of BBC Sherlock. Villains are Eurus Holmes, Mycroft Holmes, Jim Moriarty, and Moftiss.

Who wants to hear about a book that gave me psychic damage?
Tumblr media
In Remi K. England’s 2022 YA novel The One True Me and You, worlds collide when a teen beauty pageant and a fan convention book the same hotel. Our main characters are Kay, a fanfic writer tentatively trying out they/them pronouns in the supportive, generally queer space among their fandom friends; and Teagan, a pageant contestant gunning for a much-needed scholarship and keeping her geeky tendencies and her lesbian identity firmly under wraps. The two meet when Teagan sneaks into a con event, and sparks fly. etc etc. It’s a rom com.
The fan convention is for a fictional story-within-a-story called The Great Game, a modern adaptation of the Sherlock Holmes canon. Kay narrates that it’s one of many, but it’s the best one out there: better than Elementary, and certainly better than the BBC one. Except, of course, it becomes fairly obvious that The Great Game is a fictionalised stand-in for the BBC’s Sherlock, and Kay’s fandom experience a stand-in for a very particular strain of Tumblr culture surrounding the series. Let me tell you seeing “JohnLock” shipping terminology on the page of a published book in the year of our lord 2022 made me a little dizzy.
The whole thing is so... SURREAL. Much of the novel’s depiction of fan practice feels like it harkens back to a just-bygone era, making it feel oddly detached from the flow of time. The vision of Scroll—a fictional blogging platform clearly meant as a stand-in for Tumblr—as a creative, queer-friendly fangirl paradise where everyone gushes about their ships and learns about social justice issues, feels deeply anchored in the culture and perception of the site from circa 2012 – 2016.
Even the vision of “geeks” as social outcasts rather than, well, pretty mainstream, feels older too. Catchphrases like “witness me” and “BAMF” and “for the win” are pulled from an Internet lexicon of at least six or seven years ago and placed in the mouths of fictional teenagers ostensibly living in the present.
Even little details, like the characters brewing ship-themed tea blends, wearing vintage-style dresses printed with fandom references, talking about a bad episode as The One That Shall Not Be Named, someone “squee”ing at one point, even the construction of usernames… as someone who’s been on Tumblr for many years, watching Big Fandoms like Sherlock from the sidelines, it feels familiar, churning up memories from a dashboard of days gone by.
Teagan, at one point, references a pageant from 2019, meaning the plot takes place at least a year after that. And yet, how can it, if it presents such a pre-DashCon image of online fan antics?
I almost wonder if this uncanny sensation could have been offset by making the novel a period piece, explicitly setting it in 2013 or 2014 and turning its nostalgic undertones into overtones: committing to creating a fictive time capsule of Tumblr and SuperWhoLock’s halcyon days. I wonder, too, if this manuscript was written closer to that heyday, and is (as can happen with the weird loops and timelines of a publishing career) only hitting shelves now—arriving on the scene when what was once a contemporary story now feels rather dated.
I don’t know that, though I do know from the acknowledgements that England intended The One True Me and You to be a cathartic, fun, wish-fulfillment story representing the queer fan experience they feel they missed out on in the ‘90s and early ‘00s. And as an outlet for that, I think the novel is wonderful, even if it’s rocketed me, personally, deeply into the uncanny valley.
I wonder how it feels to read this as someone who was much deeper ingrained in Sherlock Tumblr? I wonder what the hell it feels like to read this as a modern teenager—the book’s intended audience!!
Years out from Sherlock’s pop cultural relevance, when its fandom has faded from the dashboard-dominance it once had, and when public perception of the series has generally soured and many people’s favourite piece of Sherlock-related media is ‘Sherlock is Garbage and Here’s Why’… can the wholesome and squeeful depiction of Sherlock-ish fandom in this book possibly resonate with any young people? I know marketing demographics aren’t always the best insight into a story’s inner workings, but I have to ask: who IS this for?
It’s not a bad book, and I don’t want this to be taken as a bad review of it. Sure, I found it to be weaker than England’s sci-fi novels: the prose is sometimes plain and leans on telling rather than showing in places, and it wraps up maybe too swiftly given the emotional weight of what happens in the climax. There’s also something to be said for how it’s vision of fandom as a queer paradise of acceptance where everyone is friends is... maybe a little overly-rosy. But if you’re in the mood for a short, cute, fluffy little queer romance between a pair of horny but endearing-enough teens, it will do the job. It will also rocket you back to a hyper-specific moment in fandom history with force that may or may not leave you with a neck injury.

Unpopular Opinion: Johnlock edition
So, I am, as invariably suggested by my blog and username, a major Sherlock fan. I absolutely love it. The first time I watched it, I immediately related to it, and my peabag brain instantly saw a friend in John Watson. Sherlock’s character, on the other hand, was quite unconventional to me. I couldn’t bring myself to quite like him for the first 2 episodes. He was.....different. I knew I wanted to watch the series just for the dynamic duo and their and sweet friendship. The cases I couldn’t at first care for much, but eventually that changed too. I always was completely amazed by how well they had managed to adapt the series to the 21st century and their subtle winks to the original canon too was quite impressive. Eventually, I fell in love with it, and proceeded to watch the entire series thrice. in a row. I was, and still am, completely obsessed.
Then came the thought, which was also somehow initially suggested subtly by the show itself, ” What if Sherlock and John are in Love?” I must agree, I had read too many conspiracy theories about certain celebs being closeted to not come up with that question.
At first it was just a thought. But then, critical analyses on tumblr came up. I couldn’t stop reading them?! and so many of them were thought-provoking and persuasive and honestly, I was living for it. The phone = heart theory is still one of the best Theories I’ve read among all the fandoms I’ve ever been in. And that is just one among many. JohnLock was everywhere. Other ships were persistent, but none could reach the amount of fervor as JohnLock. And I was living for it too. I still really enjoy all the adorable fanfics and the ever-interesting theories, and honestly, at this point, my motto is “I’ll find homoerotic subtext even if it kills me”.
Shipping is ok, shipping is good. But here’s the deal we need to talk about:  we shouldn’t justify our ships to the point of interpreting every action as romantic. This propagates unrealistic expectations and results in harmful stereotypes.
Yes, I’m talking about the unending debate on Johnlock.
From season one itself, Johnlock was phenomenal. It is widely argued that  the show-runners themselves inserted subtle hints, and hence, birthed this beast on their own. The Sherlock fandom remains one of the oldest fandoms in the world, with its beginnings rooted in the Nineteenth Century when ASiS was published, and since then many have argued about the latent homosexual subtext embedded into the writing, my point here being people have been shipping Johnlock for well over a hundred years. Hence, It’s not really a surprise that people are still drawn to this ship. But to be shipped by this magnitude of people? This invariably suggests that there’s material provided to us by the creators themselves that is very blatantly obvious about the relationship. And while in most cases shipping two characters is completely okay in itself, according to me, shipping Johnlock has further validation in the fact that there is proof of intent of it becoming canon eventually (at least in the first two seasons).
Like I said before, shipping is OK, shipping is good.
But is shipping okay if we take it to the point of over-analysing every move?
Sherlock is a comfort character for me. God knows half of my maladaptive daydreams are about him being a father figure towards me. My entire twitter tl and Tumblr dashboard is stuffed with cutesy or angsty things about him, and that’s great! But being in the fandom for about eight months, I’ve realised how this sort of feed eventually resulted in me completely forgetting the original storyline, and more importantly, in me forgetting how flawed a character Sherlock is!
Everyone(including me, the first time) freaks out in HLV because of how Sherlock isn’t listed as John’s pressure point. I, however, think we should question ourselves: Why should John still consider Sherlock that tantalizingly close to himself as he was in the beginning? John learnt his best friend had died, and he decided to do the bravest thing he could: make peace with it and move on. BUT NO! The Ghost of the man who loved him returned from the grave to haunt him! Here I talk about the other possible reasons why Sherlock wasn’t a pressure point for John in HLV.
I am tired of this constant sugarcoating of Sherlock’s character. I am tired of seeing constant posts about how Sweet and caring Sherlock is and how much he loves John and how he loved her more than Mary. I am done with over analysis of every single shot where Sherlock looks at John, completely done. This shot below? It’s been overused for so many fanfics and cheesy romantic lines that I forgot that it’s supposed to be a look of GUILT.
Tumblr media
Anyone who knows me knows that I love sherlock so dearly because he’s a very unlikeable character. That is precisely what sets him so far apart from the other characters. Sherlock started off with a hateful and dismissive character, but through the course of the events he undergoes a lot of emotional development. And that is truly noteworthy. In TFP he said for Mycroft, “ He did the best he could (for Eurus)...” and that is truly sentimental. This sort of development is always heartwarming.
What I want people to understand is that Analysis is, obviously, important. And CRITICAL ANALYSIS more so. And it’s saddening to see so many people glossing over the critical part of the analysis. Why is it so wrong to point out HOW HURTFUL SHERLOCK’S ACTIONS TOWARDS JOHN HAVE BEEN?  Why is it wrong to to point out Johnlockers borderline bully other shippers?
Can we finally talk about the problematic aspects of Johnlock, or rather Johnlockers?
Even though I’m relatively new to the fandom, I’ve noticed how dismissive people are of anything negative said about Sherlock. In the beginning, it was endearing, really; but now I see this pattern of constantly singing praises of Sherlock’s character, and it has lead me to realize how detrimental it can be to the relatively younger audiences. Sherlock is Rude, period. There’s no question about it. And this constant glorifying of his rudeness and arrogance and dismissing it as  a quirk could very well possibly give the impression that arrogance and vanity are in fact not so bad, and hell, it might make one seem a little cooler even ! Oh, don’t be mad if I act like my comfort character ! I’m quirky like that !
Constant bashing of the creators. And when I say constant, I mean it. This sort of bashing about is never-ending. And when I say this, I don’t mean that the creators were perfect; some of their mistakes were, quite frankly, blatantly ignorant ( like Irene the Canon Lesbian falling for Sherlock), but I don’t see enough people praising it for what it is. Even now there is so much slander against the creators ( and personally I feel bad for Mark Gatiss because he’s actually on twitter and is constantly spammed). Is it really a surprise that the creators hate the fans and especially the Johnlockers? Was it supposed to be so shocking when Martin said that being in the show wasn’t very fun anymore because of the fans?
We just don’t actually analyze anymore! I get that we haven’t got any new content for FOUR muheffing years but please I literally don’t see anything that’s actually interesting or analytical anymore and that kills me because that was the reason I joined this fandom- to read and comprehend the subtext, and the AMAZING META!  All I see are cute couple-ish pics of ben and Martin and tbh we can do so much better than that?!
Johnlockers have so much actual stuff to talk about? There is literally so much going on Subtextually, and yet all I see is people losing their mind over any interaction between Sherlock and John. This is so unfair! AND it’s detrimental too! With people painting every interaction as romantic in nature, the younger teenagers in this fandom who might not have experienced Love or Attraction may glean unrealistic ideas about them! It is difficult as it is to navigate oneself through romantic entanglements, let alone being fed such rose-colored ideas! And I say this because although I don’t know much about the audience on Tumblr, but Stan Twitter is like, (at least) 50 percent teenager-fuelled. It actually isn’t healthy for them at all.
Stop with the Benedict-worshipping for God’s sakes. Are you only in here because of him? We all get it, he’s absolutely stunning but come on, we’re here for the stories too right?
Romantic love is important, no doubt. But you know what’s completely overlooked? The platonic sort of love. And it’s tiring. Sherlock and Molly/Janine/Irene/John are all amazing duos and each pair has it’s own uniqueness and tang to it! Let’s not constantly dissect everything in the name of shipping, shall we?
lol looking back at it, I feel like it’s a vent rant for the prevailing circumstances on Stan Twitter. I apologize if anything I said hurt anyone, it wasn’t meant to. I completely understand that shipping people is for...recreation (?) but this was just my opinion. Let me know what you think about it!

Fandom Asks, Set 2: I, J, L, N, O
I - Has tumblr caused you to stop liking any fandoms, if so, which and why
Not fandoms per se but I was neutral on BBC Sherlock Johnlock until the Cult got involved.
J - Name a fandom you didn’t care/think about until you saw it all over tumblr
Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries. The Phrack gifs were so good, I just had to watch.
Not a fandom but the ship Dinluke from The Mandalorian. I saw Chapter Sixteen and didn't even think about shipping Din and Luke until Tumblr opened my eyes. :)
L - Your favorite fanartist/author gives you one request, what do you ask for
Khanolly. There is like hardly any Khanolly fanart and not nearly enough Khanolly fic out there.
N - Your favorite fanfiction or fanauthor
Too many to name in total, but I'll take a crack at it. @pennywaltzy @mizjoely @sobeautifullyobsessed @simplyshelbs16xoxo @bearholdingashark @mae-jones and a whole bunch of other people
O - Choose a song at random, which OTP does it remind you of
"Accidentally In Love," Counting Crows -- hell, this song is on almost all of my ship playlists, it works for just about everybody.

Reichenbach Falls Recap 2020
Hello! Since it is December 31st of this tomfuckery of a year, I decided to make a post about something that brightened my days since the 25th of May, my fic Reichenbach Falls that keeps me company every day which I love very much. Never ever would I have thought I’d come up with a 300-chapter a.k.a. 3 works in 1 fanfic. And yet here we are!
I wanted to reflect on how the initial writing process went, then the posting, and how it evolved until today.
So, Reichenbach Falls. It is a Gravity Falls Sherlock AU, but as I plotted more and more, it evolved into the monstrosity of SuperWhoLock. 2012 called that they want their Holy Trinity back, but guess what? I may be late to the party but I still groove! It will mostly be SuperLock once it really gets off in further episodes later on, but the SuperWhoLock episodes? Y’all won’t see the crazy stuff coming.
Now: the origins. As I mentioned above, the 25th of May 2020 is when I speed-wrote episode 1 of RF. The original document was 13k words long and mere 3 chapters, and I have a policy of writing on and on until it is needed to start reviewing. Upon said reviewing in the last week of August. It was a lot of work; since then I had decided to have each episode be split into 5 chapters, so I had to add 2 and review the new stuff. Today, episode 1 - Pixie Cut is the longest I have so far with 30k words. However, that may be soon overcome by episode 8 or 9 or even 10 - I noticed that episodes down the line are quite elaborate as I write them, which I suppose is good? I mean, it gives us more lore and interactions!
After writing all summer on speeds similar to those of Mr Krabs on methamphetamine (and my friends Bee @jasombee and Dee @ipromiseimnotaspy can attest to that), I suddenly found myself facing September 1st. The day I published Introduction to the characters and chapter 1 of ep. 1. And guys, the reception and feedback I got at the beginning? Still mindblowing to this day!
And I am incredibly grateful for everyone who clicked, gave kudo, commented, or subscribed to the fic, because I honestly didn’t think that a Sherlock AU that is taking on its own life and consuming mine would get much attention. But it did! And it’s all the more exciting to be able to share the story of John, Irene, Sherlock, Greg, and Mrs Hudson with anyone who joins the ride!
But the special thanks belong to Bee and Dee whom I mnetioned above as well. Bee took her time to bless Reichenbach Falls with fanart of the Colour Wheel, and Mary, John, Irene, and Sherlock. And there will be more for some other important peeps, too, eventually! And her art is gorgeous, so she definitely also deserves some serious love. Dee took her time to read the episodes I put in front of her and gave me first-feel feedback as a reader, which I value so much! She also prohibited me from spoiling her the plot twists, so she’s a bit of my lab rat to see her reactions, while Bee is my sounding board and helped me flesh out the overarching plot across the full 3 works and she also graciously helps me smooth out details regarding the crossover bits. Oh, and Dee also made moodboards for Sherlock and Irene! Thank you girls, I don’t know what I’d do without you.
We also got a SuperLock episode, which actually took a lot longer than I liked to write in July. It was the first passing introduction of the Winchester brothers, and I have to say that I’m satisfied with it. The original episode was 22k words long, the present posted one stands at 25.888 words. The Winchester brothers will be vital to the plot and very relevant as the story progresses, so it’s definitely not the last time we saw them in ep2 Gloria Scott! And I mean it, did I mention there’s a lot of lore? :)
This fic has its own memes in my gallery, because me and my friends couldn’t help it, and somehow, a twisted impostor spirit of Niclas Cage and ghoul Freddie Mercury ended up as parts of the plot in their respective episodes. What can I say, this fic is full of surprises even for me as I write :D and there’s a lot more to come as we unravel the many mysteries of Reichenbach Falls and its origins!
Honestly, it’s such a blast to write this. I never thought I’d set out to write a project this big. I have a shcedule I try to keep to, posting on every fifth day of the month. Season 1, Deja Vu, is roughly plotted out, but I’ve discussed this on my secondary blog where I had a nice chat with Iris. Season 2, name of which I won’t disclose yet because that is 1 year in the future in terms of being posted, is also plotted out roughly, but I give myself enough free leeway so as not to feel restricted or suffocated by my own expectations. Which works out, because I always improvise on the whim as I write, and it’s all the more fun!
And the people who reached out, even those who didn’t or lurk, I love you. You’ve made this experience of posting fanfiction all the more exciting and I can’t wait to show you all there is. Thank you <3
The primary ship is, of course, Johnlock, but I don’t stop there either ;) but other ships are a surprise for now!
Also, here’s something I find quite funny: almost 4 full months of Reichenbach Falls being posted and it reached a beautiful number of hits.
Tumblr media
Do you see that?
Tumblr media
Oh yes. It’s all coming together. What a way to end 2020. Crowley shall enjoy the ride as well, because we’re on our highway to hell! (wow it rhymes)
Seriously, though. Thank you for tagging along.
I’ll see you on January 5th with episode 6
Happy New Year!

9 and 16 for the ships game ☺️
Thank you! 🤍
9. Are there any fandoms you don’t have any ships for?
I have a few where I don’t mind/really like the canon ships but I don’t ship them in the way that I’m fannish about them. Like pretty much all of the Star Treks. (I have a few pairings I casually ship there but that’s it.) There are a ton of shows I’m watching or have watched but I’m not in the fandom for - generally I need a pairing I’m interested in to even check out the fandom itself but I watch a lot of things just because I like them, without the need to add shipping.
16. Are there any ships you just can’t/don’t understand? What are they?
There are ships I can clearly see where they come from but I still don’t understand how they actually get shipped. 🤣 There are a few of the really big juggernaut ships amongs them so I’m going take a deep breath, cross my fingers, and hope that nobody will hate me for naming them: Stony, Destiel, Johnlock (the BBC version, I’m shipping the hell out of the RDJ/JL version), Sirius/Remus. I can see where and why people find the dots and connect them yet I’m standing here and shaking my head because my heart simply isn’t in it. I can’t explain it better. Just because I see and understand why doesn’t make my emotions engage and actually ship. The great thing is that there are ships that make me emotional and so I’m clinging to them and ignore the rest.
Shipping, it seems, is something deeply personal and it either happens or not. There is no logic behind it.

Here’s some ships I need hot takes. Jart. Elias x onceler. Johnlock. Destiel. Uhhh fuck what other ships are there. Yeah that’s all of em
Jart: Please never call it that again. I can’t even come up with anything funny to say, I just really hate that name
Elias x onceler: A match made in hell, but a match made nonetheless. Good for them, I guess. I don’t hate it as much as I should. They’re cute together??? which might be a hot take idk. tumblr sexymen band together
Johnlock: I hate both of them and I hope it never happens. People make such a big deal out of it and I don’t see the appeal? They have zero chemistry. Granted, I have watched exactly 1.5 episodes of Sherlock so take this with more than a grain of salt.
Destiel: Nothing I can come up with could possibly compare to what actually happened, lmao. So... no hot takes here, praise be to the Spanish dub.

People ask me, why I ship John and Sherlock. I simply replied, "Their chemistry show it." But I don't give them the long answer, of course their chemistry is part of the answer. 1) Mrs. Hudson and Angelo (Let start with Angelo) When John and Sherlock arrive at Angelo's restaurant, waiting for the serial killer cabbie driver to stop at the restaurant. He immediately thought John was Sherlock date, adding a candle to make it more romantic for the two. Obviously we know that Sherlock helped cleared out Angelo name so they knew each other for a couple years. So why did Angelo immediately concludes that Sherlock was dating John? He could thought that he finally made a friend and they were just hanging out in the restaurant, well my guess is that Angelo knew what's Sherlock dating type by the way he is but not only that Sherlock didn't correct Angelo confusion on the "date", he simply ignored it and continue his day. We all know throughout the episodes and seasons, he does tends to correct someone when they are wrong like when people confuse him for a psychopath, he immediately corrects them. Angelo probably notice that and concluded that they were on a date and John was just embarrass to admit. (Now on to our lovely Mrs. Hudson) Mrs. Hudson been Sherlock landlady before John moved in, Sherlock grew fond to Mrs. Hudson. He love her with all his heart, he will legit hurt anyone who mess with his landlady. She too thought John was Sherlock boyfriend even if John tells her that he not gay but Mrs. Hudson has her reason. She knows how important John was to Sherlock, John didn't think Sherlock would care but he always be there by his side and of course he believes in Sherlock Holmes after all. Mrs. Hudson is like Sherlock second mom and as some people would say "Mother knows best." She obviously know what better for Sherlock, she try to cheer him up when he has no case's and seeing John bring joy to him and the opening his emotions which she knew he had. Mrs. Hudson knows John was a perfect fit for him. 2) The flat We seen the flat all the time so why does it matter when we talking about Sherlock and John? Well when John lived in the flat with Sherlock, the whole flat was a mess but it was organize and clean seem like Sherlock want to impressed John like he want John to stay but when John left to build his family with Mary, all hell broke lose. He whole flat was a completely mess, paper hanged everyone, paper on the floor, paper covering the wall. His kitchen became a lab or something, Billy was there for god sakes! His flat went through a completely make over after John left, mind you! This happened because of John, this happened because he left Sherlock to live with Mary. 3) Molly So wondering how Molly help and supports Johnlock? Well have you notice every man Molly date was gay that John had to stop Sherlock from say it to her so she ends up with gay men and she date them and then ends the relationship after a couple of months. Well as fans, we know Molly like Sherlock (hence the ship Sherlloy) but have you ever wonder that Sherlock might be her next gay victim if she can get him to date him. (Leaving y'all folks to your thoughts) 4) The eye sex and John licking his lip We seen this so many times with this two gentleman. They go into intense eyes contact and none looks the other way nor move, sometimes and we fans has caught it that John looks down at Sherlock lips then he lick his lips. To be honest, I don't think this was part of the script and the two actor just got lost in thier eyes while acting. Martin had lick his lips before in his other movies so it's probably a common thing he does but looking at someone else lip then licking their lip, it's something else if anyone did that to me, I will think they have interest in me. 4) Sherlock death and killing people (Let get to killing people first) Who the hell kill people to save another soul? Partners, friends (real friends, fakes friends already killed you), maybe family and maybe more. Sherlock killed Magnussen to save John (and Mary as well) but John? He killed the cabbie, Liang (Soo Lin Yao brother, I would say he save Sherlock from being choked to death but also his date from getting killed) and together (well not really together because this was all in Sherlock head but you know what I mean) they killed Moriarty. You might think "Ya, they did it because their friends and they care about each other." You ain't wrong, remember Sherlock consider John family so he meant so much to Sherlock. They killed/hurted people because of their love for each other and their friendship. (Now the most sadest shit that happened, The Reichenbach Fall. Where Sherlock yeet himself off a rooftop) Now this is very emotional to some fans to talk about, it's were John hears Sherlock voice one more time and it left him crying even Sherlock fucking Holmes was crying! It was so hard for him to leave John, he gave John hints that all of this was a fake but it was to emotional to face the facts behind it. John couldn't take a cab anymore, he couldn't stay any longer in 221B (not saying he hate it there), he couldn't move on for three years! (Well eventually he moved on) Because all those things; the cab, the flat, the cases. All those things brought good memory with Sherlock and yes he remember and will never forget it but he brought him to tears. He knew he had to move on like a soilder move on from the battlefield; the war, the blood, the deaths. All put that to the pass but the good memories, he kept it Lastly, I want to say this. The two characters can be straight ass fuck all they want but if they act gay around each other and someone tells me that they not supposes to be a pair then I will flip a table on you and leave you there because am done. Johnlock has many more evidence to prove that they love each other so screw all y'all homophobic folks even if I know mostly y'all not homophobic

tumblr history is weird. I’ve seen a couple of posts now aggressively defending superwholock and acting as if that fangroup was made of a bunch of precious innocent babies who did nothing wrong but be enthusiastic about something they loved, but then everyone else collectively smashed them down with negativity and ridiculed them for being positive.
As “hot takes” go, that’s a, uh, pretty unique one. The superwholock I remember was feared and reviled because they were a toxic powerhouse of aggressive hatred who patrolled the net looking for anyone stepping out of line or posting a “controversial” opinion (such as “Johnlock isn’t for me”) so that they could gang up and annihilate all non-conformers.
Superwholock, to me, is symbolized more by the way they sent death threats to the actors/producers when their show didn’t go the way they wanted, death and rape threats to anyone who disagreed with them, death, rape, and doxxing threats to folks making innocent jokes, and hurled accusations of homophobia and worse at anyone who said they didn’t like a particular gay ship, even when the folks saying it were part of the queer community.
And sure, you can go the not ALL fans!” route and point out that there were plenty of good folks mixed into that group as well, but their overall reputation was one of utter nastiness.
Taken individually, at least two of the three fandoms (I don’t know much about the Whovians) are among the most toxic online fandoms, and the Supernatural “family” in particular is frankly terrifying. Just ask Elicia (Euclase) Donze about how they’ve treated her for the past eleven-plus years. Over a decade of harassment from now grown-ass women, but sure, they were just a bunch of sweet innocent babies who never did anything wrong.
Or talk to the actors about the threats made against their wives for the crime of simply existing and thus “ruining” fan fantasies about the actors being romantic partners. Because these sweet wonderful flower children of the internet can’t keep fiction and reality separated and ship the actors together as aggressively as they ship the characters.
Sherlock fans get a lot of sympathy because of how long they had to wait between seasons, but they were toxic as hell, too. Anyone who came between their Chosen Pair had to be annihilated at all costs, up to and including any real people who didn’t ship it. Doxxing, death threats, slander, you name it.
I’m willing to bet Who fans weren’t any better, either. You don’t willingly hang around with toxic shitfires without being one yourself. That’s what the “rotten apples” analogy means: a couple of rotten apples DO spoil the whole bunch, because they spread their rot to the surrounding apples. And, incidentally, when you’re talking about fandoms as big as these three, “a couple” translates into thousands.
And no, this isn’t really up for “discussion,” especially not when that translates to you trying to tell me I’m wrong or to try and make excuses for them. Excusing bad behavior only encourages it. Protecting toxic behavior reinforces the belief that toxic is right. Saying they’re “just kids” not only dismisses all the adults engaging in the same awful behavior, but it means those “just kids” grow up never learning how to be better people. Like the thirtysomething woman who deliberately tried to block her company from paying a fanartist that she hated. She got caught because she boasted about it in a place her boss could see, but what if she hadn’t? Or what about the others who find equally vindictive ways to punish people and are smart enough to keep quiet about it?
Thanks, but no thanks. You guys wanna keep gushing about uwu superwholock ♥♥♥, go right ahead. It doesn’t change what they did- and in some cases are still doing- but if it makes you feel better about yourselves to bash folks for disliking a multifandom group without questioning why they actually disliked them, then go right ahead. It speaks volumes for you.

Dear god the 'shippers' in the Magnum fandom are driving me mad. They're like rabid little zombies! I'm cool with Higgins. I'm even okay with the idea of Magnum and Higgins getting together, in like season 10 or so. But if we don't get a third season it'll be because the shippers are messing with the writer's heads and I just wanna drop kick some sense into them all! (Sorry, this is the only place I know where I can vent and not get jumped on for not loving 'teh Miggy' Urgh.
Ha! You’ve come to the right place. I realize that half of what I don’t like about her character is that her ‘badass self’ doesn’t have to change - but why does it always have to be at the expense of others? Like Batman doesn’t become less awesome because Wonder Woman is on the screen. The ‘ship wars’ ultimately destroyed Arrow - and those fans went after real life people and made their lives a living hell (just look up what they did to poor Katie Cassidy) or harped on Stephen Amell getting together with Emily Rickards off screen (despite Stephen being happily married to someone else), or how JohnLock shippers almost made Martin Freeman quit because of the atrocious things being said to his real life wife. I’m not sure why people feel the need to get shitty to one another personally over a fictional character, but...holy shit. Being goddamn psychos about it does nothing but push others further from liking a show (never mind the character). You want to endear me to Higgins? Come up with a plausible/non-romantic reason she’s as two faced as a double sided coin when it comes to interacting with Magnum. She’s lost a fiance? Boo-hoo. Magnum and his best friends were sold out to a terrorist organization who imprisoned and tortured them for over a year and a half, then she tried to kill him and possibly had a hand in the death of one of his best friends and he still manages to have compassion. Her mother had dementia? Wah wah. TC’s father has blown him off at every turn after spending TC’s younger years in prison after his mom up and left them, and ohhhhh looookkk....he’s STILL A HUMAN TEDDY BEAR. Rick was raised by ORGANIZED CRIME MEMBERS. HE WAS A SNIPER. Not just a sniper, but a SCOUT SNIPER. He had a more personal look than most when it came to combat, and guess what. Not only does he still volunteer to help build houses for disabled veterans, help his employees at every turn, his besties, but also manages to still be a cheerleader for everything that his friends accomplish. Is it fair to compare tragedies? No. But at the same time, they’re just making her look like she’s the one who lets every little thing be an excuse to be an ass - and then pout when she doesn’t get her way. Like...are the rabid shippers mad when we don’t like that because that’s the part they identify with?
I also really wonder if there’s multiple writing teams. Because like Blood Brothers was straight up showing how they didn’t actually need her. And for anyone that actually knows how life rafts work, they kinda made her look extra dramatic trying to be relevant. Fun fact: nobody actually wants to have to do complex satellite recon and math to figure out where a life raft is, that’s why they have GPS installed. So that could’ve been all of 30 seconds - “I found the GPS transponder, it washed ashore on the island here.” She also comes off as either 1) especially heartless or 2) the writers confirm that she had absolutely nothing to do with anything in the Middle East during her time as an MI6 agent beyond rubbing elbows with diplomats. As soon as she says “we break the law for life or death”, anyone who has ever dealt with the shit show that is Afghanistan/Taliban knows she hasn’t got a clue - illegally fleeing Afghanistan is the only way out of it. And if Ahmed was returned to the Taliban, he would be lucky to be forced into the Taliban. It is much more likely that someone who is seen as friendly towards the West will be horrifically tortured and publicly executed (probably filmed too). And like throwback to the second episode of season 1 - she speaks Arabic. Arabic has like a million little offshoots and dialects and that’s what makes it interesting but also really difficult for translators (or you know, spies) to learn it well enough to blend. Typically though, Arabic is primarily spoken in countries we’re not in direct conflict with - like the UAE and as she mentioned Saudi Arabia (even if she got the prince’s name wrong, we’ll just assume that was a writer error). Which means her relations were diplomatic, not combat, so she has approximately no leg to stand on when throwing around ‘you should do it legally or not at all’ since in reality no, you cannot have a history of being a foreign spy and come retire here in the US, but also - rich, white, female of a country that if she ever gets deported back to isn’t going to behead her on YouTube after torturing her in a public square to serve as a reminder to others who think they could have a chance....well. You can draw your own conclusions on that one.
Anyway.
On that note, I actually am really trying to make the character understandable, at least in fanfic, but damn. It’s a goddamn mountain, lemme tell you.

SUPERNATURAL
God!Sam, no ships
The Holy Grail Bird by de_nugis for monicawoe
The God-gun has a divine recoil effect. Sam has to have another try at living with power.
...
Boyking!Sam, no ships
The King’s Guard by monicawoe
Andy had spent the last few hours watching Sam Winchester —King of Hell, God of the Abyss, Bane of Heaven— kill nearly two dozen souls, and feed them all to his pet — the biggest, scariest looking hellhound of them all.
...
Destiel
Twist and Shout by standbyme, gabriel
What begins as a transforming love between Dean Winchester and Castiel Novak in the summer of 1965 quickly derails into something far more tumultuous when Dean is drafted in the Vietnam War. Though the two both voice their relationship is one where saying goodbye is never a real truth, their story becomes fraught with the tragedy of circumstance. In an era where homosexuality was especially vulnerable, Twist and Shout is the story of the love transcending time, returning over and over in its many forms, as faithful as the sea.
...
Blades of Silver, Hearts of Gold by Scribo_Vivere
Corsair Winchester is the most feared pirate in the Caribbean waters. When he makes it his goal to attack the Pride of Heaven, a massive ship that is part of Port Lawrence's Naval fleet, he finds himself ill-prepared in every way to come face to face with Commodore Castiel Novak, the brother of the man he wishes dead. It seems an easy solution to take the Commodore captive, but Castiel's ocean-blue eyes, kissable mouth, and fiery defiance make Winchester begin to question his choice. As a war ensues on all fronts, it remains to be seen who is the prisoner, who is the master, and how far both men will go in the name of prudence, sacrifice, and love.
...
Ninety One Whiskey by komodobits
In the spring of 1944, the 104th Medical Battalion of the United States Army is disbanded, and its men reassigned to various infantry companies in preparation for their invasion of occupied France. For First Lieutenant Novak, this is less than helpful, as he has so far met his platoon’s designated medic a grand total of twice, and has both times found Sergeant Winchester to be the optimum combination of reckless, arrogant, and downright insufferable so as to make cohesive platoon function near impossible. When the time comes to move out, however, Castiel has to reconcile himself to the fact that men are going to go down and trust that Dean Winchester may well be the only person who can put them back together again.
...
Steps by Camerahead12
The moment he saw Dean Winchester dance Castiel knew he was lost.
It wasn’t the way his muscles moved as he leapt across the floor, or even the way the sweat dripped down the man’s freckled skin. It was just simply the way he danced. The passion that bled out from the movements left him breathless and thirsty for more.
And when he danced with Dean that first time, it was like falling in love.
Little did he know that falling for the man would lead to questioning everything Castiel has ever stood for. As the deadline for the studios yearly performance draws closer, will Castiel be able to come up with an idea good enough to save his company? Or will it be too late to pull it away from Crowley, his money hungry investor’s hands?
As everything begins to slowly fall into place, Fate (as She usually does) has other ideas. Just when life seems to be working out, not only will their trust in each other be tested, but their strength they’ve discovered within themselves starts to bend. Will they be able to hold it together before it snaps, leaving nothing but broken dreams in its place?
...
Find Me in the Light by allmystars
Castiel is fine with his life. Really, he is. He’s content with the locals and his prying, if well-meaning, business partner and brother. Everything is just...fine. That’s how he likes it—plain and uneventful.
Until Gabriel hires Dean Winchester to work at the cafe and, suddenly, Castiel's carefully crafted isolation is broken apart like the waves that stole his mother from him, and Castiel hates him for it.
He hates Dean’s attitude—hates his car and his stupidly pretty face with that permanent smirk. He just...hates Dean Winchester.
Until he doesn’t.
Until, somehow, Dean manages to weasel his way into Castiel’s heart and take up permanent residence there. Then Castiel isn’t fine—he’s far from it, actually. He’s great—wonderful and perfect and happy.
But things change—nothing is ever-present—and this loss might kill him. It might just tear Castiel apart. After all, how do you lose something you’ve been searching for your whole life, and survive it? How do you do that?
Castiel doesn’t think he can.
...
Of Twists and Turns by Kitmistry, Piento
When naval surgeon Castiel Novak is captured by the Black Impala pirates, he has no choice but to agree to their terms: He is to serve on their ship for a whole year before they release him. That doesn’t mean he is going to like it, though. Especially when their captain is the embodiment of everything Castiel despises.
Determined to earn his freedom, Castiel settles into the life of an outlaw. When the pirates’ true goal is revealed, though, he can no longer deny that things are not as black and white as he thought they were. And he can’t deny how drawn he is to Captain Winchester either.
...
Sabriel
Fifty Shades of Freedom by Aria_Lerendeair  (omegaverse fic)
Gabriel Novak is a Class-A Alpha asshole and Sam Winchester wants nothing to do with him, especially after that interview! Except then, he maybe finds out a few things about Gabriel Novak that make him hate him a little less, and hey, maybe some of that bondage stuff sounds interesting…
Golden Shades of Freedom by Aria_Lerendeair (PART 2)
After the world finds out about their relationship, Sam settles into something semi-normal, with Gabriel. The paparazzi are desperate for something, but Sam is, well. Happier than he expected to be, dating an asshole like Gabriel. That, of course, is when the invitation from Gabriel’s family had come for the summer. Sam agrees to go, only if he can bring Dean with him. A few uncomfortable family revelations and one epic fight later, Sam’s left wondering if Gabriel actually is his happily ever after.
...
Sam x Ruby (and side-Destiel)
Job & Family by TigerLilyNoh
After Dean's death (at the end of season 3), Sam and Ruby begin hunting down Lilith. Without Dean by his side, Sam finds the world of hunting to not be as black and white as he once thought. He just wants to get closure and move on with life, but outside forces aren't making that so easy. By the time the brothers reunite, Sam is a very different person than he used to be.
The battle for Hell, Heaven, and the Apocalypse begins. In these crazy times, the boys find themselves with new enemies, allies, and bedfellows.
...
Sam and/or Dean x Reader
@negans-lucille-tblr is a great writer on Tumblr. I tried making a list of all the series I’d recommend and then realized I was just writing her entire Supernatural masterlist so here’s the link to her actual masterlist.
@winchest09 is also a great writer. Haven’t read her entire masterlist but her Life for Rent series is amazing.

Semper Familia by KatZen
When his dad comes back into the clearing with a scrawny kid he's just bought in tow, Dean isn't surprised. He knows Lilim aren't human, that they're creatures, like witches or wendigo.
But the kid that John's got by the arm, who's pulled as far away from Dean's dad as possible without actually trying to get his arm back, the kid whose eyes don't leave John and are bright with fear, the kid who looks like he hasn't eaten in a couple of days and is obviously favoring his left leg...
This kid looks an awful lot like a person. And what's more, he's the same age Sammy would have been.

This seems like fun! Thanks for the tag, @swissmissing!
1. AO3 handle: SilentAuror
2. Ships I write: Johnlock. Oh, and maybe a touch of Freebatch. In the past I wrote a crapton of Harry/Draco and a few other scattered ships hither and thither, but these days it’s pretty much pure Johnlock over here.
3. Ships I read: I don’t read much fanfic, but if I do, it’s definitely Johnlock!
4. When I started writing: I don’t remember my first piece of fiction ever, but it was definitely sometime in childhood! My first fanfic was posted in 2002, I believe!
5. First fic I wrote: In this fandom? Resurrection.
6. Favorite fic I wrote: I really can’t say!
7. Hardest fic I wrote: Again, I really can’t say. Different stories have been hard for different reasons. Against the Rest of the World comes to mind, just for sheer length and complexity & detail of plot, but Scars was very different to write for the emotional and physical abuse it contains. Some of the angst-heavy stories I’ve written have practically given me ulcers. Sometimes I make the cases so complicated that I have to keep a whole separate file just on case notes (witness The Bells of King’s College, which features not just six cold cases, but they all had to be related to: a) the murderer (obviously), b) each other, and c) a potential seventh victim, and d) Mary!). Bridging the Ravine features something like 21 named OCs, about 8 of whom have fairly major parts. And The Final Proof was hard as hell to write because it made me cry throughout, lol. Along with basically 98% of the people who have read it, which was sort of the point, but there you go. :P (See warnings!!!!!)
8. Most research-intensive fic I wrote: That has to be a toss-up between Against the Rest of the World for the location research specifically, and Scars, for which I did extensive research (including interviewing three separate therapists who specialize in female->male abuse and gaslighting).
9. Fic that is most dear to me: This is like asking me to pick a favourite among my children! Of which I now have 84 in this fandom alone! Really can’t say!
10. Favourite trope to write: I mostly avoid actively writing tropes, though I’ve unapologetically used fake-couple-for-a-case twice now (once where it goes quite well for them (Bridging the Ravine) and once where it goes quite badly for them (The Bells of King’s College)), and smaller tropes like sexual coaching (Isosceles), bed-sharing (numerous), and then apparently I’ve used some accidentally, such as amnesia (The Wisteria Tree). Lol.
11. Something I wouldn’t write: An unhappy or non-Johnlock ending, a version of Mary that doesn’t line up with her actual canon behaviour, fluffy familial sitcom that’s wholly out of character (which isn’t to say that parentlock can’t be IC, but it’s a stretch to make it fit with these two particular men, IMO).
12. Favourite scene I ever wrote: I’ve just written too many to choose only one. :/ Sorry, I keep saying this!
13. Where I get my inspiration: From Moftiss’ resolute determination to prevent these two from having an honest, direct, and complete conversation about their relationship, their history, and their feelings. I WILL make them talk, damn it! And then kiss. Like a lot. :)
14. Hardest scene I ever wrote: There’s a rape scene in chapter 3 of Scars. I avoided writing it for days. Then, once I finished it, I remember literally just closing my laptop, standing up, putting on my shoes, and walking out of my apartment to clear my head.
15. Favourite characterisation I wrote: Oooh. Okay, I’m giving this one to Sherlock in Against the Rest of the World, specifically because it’s told in first person, which means that I spent four solid months living inside this version of his head, and I found it very difficult to not be in it once the story came to its eventual finish!
In this fandom, I’ve now written in the POVs of 12 different characters (not counting the “characters” of Ben and Martin in my four Freebatch fics), and I’ve loved writing every single one of them, even if I don’t necessarily love the character themselves! The breakdown goes like this, though for the last two, it’s only single chapters/parts of stories, never a full stand-alone story: Sherlock (36 times, including both novels), John (37 times), Mycroft (3 times), Lestrade (3 times), Mary (3 times), Molly (twice), Rose (Rosie at age 19, once), Janine (once), Ella (once), Vee (Mummy) Holmes (once), Mrs Hudson (once), and Sally Donovan (once).
My current project is one of my rare mixed-POV stories, heavily John-POV, but with contribution scenes from Sherlock, Ella, and Molly.
16. Sequel I would write, if I had the chance: I’m actually somewhat planning, pending my muses’ inspiration and general whims, a sequel to Isosceles, where Sherlock and John visit Corey Graham in LA. :)
17. Story I want to write, but I don’t think people would enjoy reading: It’s so masochistic, but I never let that stop me! :P I did suppress my urge to write my first Freebatch fic (The A.G.R.A Complex) for about eight months before finally giving in. I fully expected to be shot for writing Scars, and I’m somewhat expecting people to hate my current project, but if the muses demand it, then I write it. What can you do. :P
18. A line from a WIP: I never do lines. It’ll have to be a snippet, lol. Not to channel Culverton Smith or anything...
Ella thinks of the long story Sherlock told her one stormy afternoon only a few weeks ago, during one of the appointments she cannot, by dint of professional vow, acknowledge to John that are happening, and of the fact that Sherlock admitted that he’s never yet found a way to casually bring up the snipers in conversation with John, his hesitancy to rock the boat, the surface stability they’ve seemingly found in the wake of the events with Sherlock’s unbalanced sister. She sighs inwardly, but keeps her expression neutral. “You’re still angry about that,” she says. It isn’t a question; after all, she knows John rather well by this point.
John frowns, but nods, still looking down.
“And how has that anger come out?” Ella asks, conscious to keep her tone even.
John’s mouth opens, his breath drawing in sharply and stopping in his chest.
19. A recent comment on a story that made me smile: That someone commented at all makes me smile! Unless it’s overt hate, I guess. :P
20. A discontinued work I would love to finish: I have never, in my 2.1+ million words of Sherlock fiction, or 1.5 words of HP fiction, not finished a story that I started.
21. Fic writers I admire: Honestly, for these last two, I just don’t read enough to be able to comment well on this! I also know that if I list anyone, I’ll leave out someone who really, really should be mentioned. I’ll just say this: anyone who is actively working at the craft of writing and putting themselves out there deserves all the praise and admiration in the world. Same goes for artists! You’re putting a naked little piece of your soul out there for the world to see, criticize, hopefully (but not necessarily) love, and that is SO brave! So the truest answer here is: all of you!
22. A story I recommend: Same answer as above! I would recommend @swissmissficrecs for recs!
Tagging: anyone who reads this post and writes. You’re tagged. :)

Me and Johnlock
I feel like sharing tonight. This is a little text I wrote some time ago. It’s a little background story about how I became a Johnlock shipper. Just rambling about myself, really.
I started reading the ACD cannon when I was 12 years old, that was almost 20 years ago. I always loved detective stories and Holmes was my favorite detective!
I knew nothing of the theories about Holmes and Watson’s relationship, queer coding in Victorian literature, hell, I don’t think I even knew about the existence of LGBT culture and even non-heterosexual people!! But I had the feeling there was something different about those two characters. It was different from the usual hero-sidekick dynamics I was used to, it was something deeper… Deeper than friendship, or partnership. I had the feeling if one of them were a woman people would immediately ship them, like they shipped Mulder and Scully or Seinfeld and Elaine, and that seemed unfair.
As years went by these stories sorta fell into second plan. Life got a little complicated for me. But at the same time, TV shows and the internet became more ubiquitous. I became aware of the existence of gays, lesbians, bissexual people and all the spectrum of sexuality. I grew and became a confortably heterosexual woman AND a supporter of equal right for LGBT people in all aspects of society.
So, I realized that perhaps Holmes and Watson were more than friends, they actually loved each other but, like many at that time, couldn’t act on it, or had to hide it, and that was kinda sad… Wouldn’t it be great for those two amazing men to come together in every way and be truly happy with each other? No more lonely Holmes in Sussex, because Watson “betrayed him for another wife”??
In all the books, movies, tv shows, games, I had straight ships, gay ships, lesbian ships. It should not make a difference… It’s not me that I want to ship with a character. I ship them because I like them, I think they would be happy together, and I want them to have a happy ending. Yes, I’m a romantic in that sense...
You can imagine how utterly entranced I was when I first watched BBC Sherlock. It’s funny how I can recall the first time I stopped my zapping to watch it, because of the name of the show (It could only be about that character!), because it had that guy from The Office in it, because the Sherlock character was so completely outrageous.
I loved the show since then. I love all the minute care they put in every line, every shot, every choice of music score, of lighting, of angle. I love the story, I love the actors, and I love their portrayal of the characters I’ve known and cherished for so many years.
That’s why I’m so invested in Johnlock.
I truly believe that this is the adaptation that will bring justice to these two. They will finally be complete because they are the ones that make the other whole.
They are building towards it, we just have to have patience! And you know what? I think BBC Sherlock is not going to be the only one to make Holmes and Watson cannon. (I’m looking at you, RDJ...)
I have to say, I had my ups and downs with BBC Sherlock. I usually become very emotionally invested in one show at a time and every twist and turn resonates deeply with me. I consider myself a level-headed individual, but I was fucking devastated when S4 came out. I can’t remember the last time fiction did that to me... But after a period of “mourning” I came back to fandom. Slowly, I came in contact with the meta written by so many wonderful, brilliant people, who shone a light on what seemed to be a horrible darkness. They made me realize that perhaps we are not looking at the entire picture yet and things are even bigger and more monumentally important than we realized. They brought back the joy of watching the show.
Yes, S5 may still be a horrible flop. Yes, I may be heartbroken again. But, in the end of the day, it is just fiction... Along the way I learned so many new things, about Brecht, Wilde, Jung, Yorke, Victorian literature, sculpture, video editing, etc. etc... I laughed out loud, I cried hard, I got to see Ben’s butt in those trousers.
I honestly try to steer away from the drama and negativity that are inevitable byproducts of fandom and focus on what matters to me. And I’m still learning about that, really.

WINGFICS
so i browsed ALL of the wingfics currently on archive TWICE and these are some of the ones i liked: (these are mostly completed) (none of these are mine) (LEAVE KUDOS)
I”M MAKING A SEPARATE POST FOR STUCKY, STONY, JOHNLOCK, and DESTIEL CUZ THERE ARE SO MANY
FLUFF:
ereri: (Attack on Titan)
-Magic Does Not Make A Garden: oneshot 3,674 words
Levi grows his garden peacefully on the edge of the desert, until the day he finds a boy with wings dying of exhaustion and takes him in.
-Don’t Hide: oneshot 2,636 words
Levi didn’t know what the hell Eren had done to his wings, but the kid was going to regret it. They felt…he didn’t know what word could be used to describe it, but maybe there wasn’t any word because that was it: They felt.
-Feels Like Flying: oneshot 943 words
Eren is already far from the ground, and it makes Levi’s stomach twist uncomfortably to see him up there with nothing to support him but a pair of magical wings that appeared out of nowhere, but—
Eren is laughing and twisting around in the air, and he looks like he belongs there.
He’s beautiful.
klance: (Voltron)
-Rest Stop: oneshot 10,776 words
Lance wasn't like the rest of the world.
And he had never had a loving mother tell him it made him stronger for it. So he told himself, gathering up his courage and grit to face a world of winged humanity, when he, in fact, has no wings and turns into a mermaid instead.
A world that wants him to die.
So he'd keep this secret like a knife in his boot, a sharp weapon until he died on his own terms. Not because of who he was.
Except, Team Voltron isn't so sure why Lance is all rough edges and sharp points about showing off his wings. Or acting like a member of the Flock in general. It's clear he cares for them, but he's never shown an intimate part of him.
Until he has to.
-Meet me Between the Ocean and the Sky: part 1 part 2 37,091 words
"I'm telling you, Allura! Humans are real!" Lance yelled enthusiastically, adrenaline buzzing in his veins. His sister gave a heady sigh, setting down her book. "Everyone else in the clan stopped believing in humans when they were fledglings, it's time you did too. Your obsession is growing to be unhealthy" She muttered. Lance slammed his foot down with a loud thump, "I saw one! I swear!". Allura looked far from impressed. "Sure".
Or, Lance stumbles upon a human and he ends up getting more than he bargained for.
-Golden Thread: 5 chappies 11,755 words
The Lions of Voltron are searching for their new Paladins. It was going fine until the Blue Lion gave Allura the name of an elusive, untrusting species that would be almost impossible to track down.
-Three Important Facts: oneshot 2,574 words
At first, Lance had found it funny. Suddenly, feathers of varying shapes, sizes, and hues of maroon and black found their way into inconspicuous places, and no one was safe from them. Pique-hilarity came when Pidge threw a handful of feathers back at Keith, shouting for him to keep them out of her shower drain. There was never an explanation as to how they got there.
-Silken Feathers (Wrap Me Up): oneshot 2,909 words
Lance is self-conscious about his wings as he compares them to everyone else's. Lucky for him, there's a knight in red armor that comes to his rescue.
-Watercast: unfinished 14/16 chappies 188,505 words
Shiro has been a Galra prisoner for over a year; with his flight feathers clipped and unable to fly. Desperate to escape, he jumps overboard while being transported to the capitol on a Galran ship. Lance is a merman who saves him from drowning. Keith thinks Shiro is about to become mermaid dinner. Hunk just wants Lance to stop going to the surface all the time, dammit!
(AU where Avians (winged folk), Galra, humans and merfolk cohabit earth. Shiro and Keith are avian soldiers, Lance is the youngest son of a Queen, Hunk is also a merman and Pidge is still looking for her family. They get caught up in a war.)
shatt: (Voltron)

rinharu: (Free!)
-Spring Tide: oneshot 6,931 words
He's adept at choosing his own path without hesitation, yet there's no denying how much brighter his world becomes when Haru is swimming in front of him like a beacon—occasionally breaching the water while he races the shadow Rin's wings cast upon the waves. If only one day they could fly to the ends of the world together like that.
-how it feels to take a fall: oneshot 2,783 words
“How fast can you fly, Haru?”
“My wings are made from wind,” Haru says by way of reply, and Rin nods as if he’s satisfied.
kagehina: (Haiykuu!)
-Take Flight: oneshot 2,175 words
'They're supposed to be soulmates. No—they are soulmates. Hinata is his. And Kageyama is Hinata's.
And so—why? Why won't Hinata open up to him about something as important as his wings, their link, the symbol of their bond? Why do they keep having this fight?'
No matter what they fight over, they will always come back together again.
-A Tangle of Feathers: oneshot 6728 words
Vignettes highlight moments of a young crow's immortal life.
-only waiting for this moment to arise: oneshot 2,277 words
“Liking you was my idea, not yours. Don’t think you tricked me into it with your -- your wings and your kissing. Asshole.”
-sand and salt: oneshot 2,415
"Hey, Kageyama, have you ever thought about swimming?"
"Don't be stupid, dumbass. Crows can't swim."
"But what if we could? Has anyone even tried?"
"Well, I guess there is a slight possibility that -"
"We should try it!"
-wings above waves: 2 chappies 7,518 words completed
“Can you fly?” He probed. Whenever he asked Izumin or Kouji to fly with him, they refused.
Kageyama faced him directly with an indignant scowl on his face. “Of course I can fly,” he spluttered out. “What kind of an idiot can't -”
“No,” Shouyou interrupted, “I meant, can you fly?”
daisuga: (Haiykuu!)
-An Angel Silhouetted: 15 chappies 49,986 words completed
There is a certain kind of joy that comes from flying that cannot be replicated.
Not on a trampoline, or a trapeze, or high on a tightrope. Not planes, either. Being high in the air, supported or unsupported, it didn't matter. Nothing was the same.
Suga hadn't felt that kind of joy in a long time.
A very, very long time.
In which half-angel Suga rebels against everything he's ever been told about the circus he stars in, dances with Daichi, and rebuilds himself anew.
-A Tangle of Feathers: oneshot 6728 words
Vignettes highlight moments of a young crow's immortal life.
victuuri: (Yuri on Ice)
-Taking Flight: oneshot 5,823 words
This was all Yuuri had ever known: the cage, the pain, and the silent, pretty, blue-eyed boy in the cage across the way.
Yuuri was an avian-human hybrid, resigned to life in a cage for the rest of his life. But freedom was more than just a dream for himself. He'd do anything to see that boy in the cage fly free.
-On Wings of Love: oneshot 2,079 words
Yuuri knew about Victor before he even knew about soulmates.
-Diphylleia Grayi: oneshot 8,010 words
This flower is called Diphylleia Grayi, Vitya.
It’s commonly known as the skeleton flower. At first glance it may appear to be nothing but an ordinary flower but when it comes in contact with rain, its petals turns translucent.
Like a flower made of glass.
It’s very beautiful, Vitya.
otayuri: (Yuri on Ice)
-Diphylleia Grayl: oneshot 8,010 words

drarry: (Harry Potter)
-There is Always the Moon: 13 chappies 159,356 words completed
Draco's life after the war is everything he wanted it to be: it's simple, and quiet, and predictable, and safe. But when a mysterious curse shatters the peace he'd worked so hard to build, there's only one person he can trust to help him. After all, Harry Potter has saved his life before. Now Draco has to believe that Potter will be able to do it one more time.
-Flare: 15 chappies 43,582 words completed
Caught in the middle of a misfired curse, Harry is half-transformed into a phoenix, to the point of carrying wings on his back. He arranges with the Healers for research that will hopefully cure him--only to find that Draco Malfoy has a strange vested interest in him keeping the bloody things.
royed: (Fullmetal Alchemist)
-Know the Difference: podfic 1-1.5 hours
“You’ve heard the rumors,” Mustang says, looking at Ed over the top of his latest report, “about the angels.”
Ed scoffs and rolls his eyes, “Angels don’t exist, don’t be ridiculous.”
“Of course, of course,” he murmurs, gaze sliding back down, “There have been multiple eye witness accounts, however.”
Ed slouches into the chair and doesn’t bother to keep the contempt to from his voice when he says, “Don’t depend on anything with wings to save you. Things that were made to leave always end up doing so, in the end.”
“Yes, well,” he says, “sometimes they come back.”
