how about... and hear me out... we stop reducing cole ninjago’s personality to food?
#literally so sick of it like it isn't even funny anymore#and this is at the fandom more than the show right now#like first of all - cole Clearly had an eating disorder and while that probably wasn't intentional on the writers' parts...#i mean. cole Literally started binge eating after watching his friend explode. come on. he was Never like that before s4.#and like he is Clearly at least a little insecure about it but no let's make jokes about how cole eats all the time hahaha#like the amount of times i have clicked out of fics or refused to reblog art solely because all the ninja are doing their thing and then oh#look there's cole eating cake hahaha so silly not like he's a ninja or anything :D#do better#it just infuriates me Especially since it is CANON that cole stress eats (because making fun of stress eating is so funny... show / fandom)#and he's my favorite character and it sucks to see him constantly portrayed as this food obsessed ninja who has no depth aside#from the 'there's not gonna be cake?' throwaway joke from s2 that Clearly only became a reoccuring thing because the fandom flipped out and#became obsessed with it like Yes it was funny but my God y'all have taken it to an entirely different level and the show bounced off of that#not to say that no one should ever draw or write or mention cole with food but if all you draw him with is food or if he's doing something#with food every time you write for him then you should Prolly take a step back and ask yourself why you're doing that and how you're#portraying cole as a character because he CERTAINLY has more depth than 'i love cake and also junk food tehehe protecc'#this has been in my drafts for a month and i just saw something along these lines on insta so i’m angry and posting it lol#ninjago#cole brookstone#cole ninjago

How would you characterize Tim Drake, quirks and all?
I’ve been having an IDENTITY CRISIS trying to figure this boy out because I think I kin him but then I’m like “but do I really know him though? Is my knowledge on him REALLY enough to Kin him?
I don’t want to bother you or anything! Im just curious to see if maybe from your response it can validate me LMAO.
Oh my dear lovely anon, you came to the right place. Tim Drake breathes and I kin it with all of my being.
Either way, I've been analyzing his character for the past two years through fanon and what comics I can get my hands on and this is kinda what I know so far.
Hope you enjoy.
To really understand Tim's character you have to look at his childhood. Now, in canon, his parents are neglectful at times but they aren't as bad as fanon likes to portray them. In both, Tim is usually left on his own in either a mental/emotional or physical state. He learned very early on that his parents are role models and authority figures, not caregivers or emotional support. So he grew up to value independence to an extreme extent.
Relying on people is a gamble but relying on himself is always secure. He's the kind of kid who will ask the teacher if he can do a group project alone because he knows he'll get an A that way and will avoid the drama of teammates. Tim flies solo extremely often half because its easier and half because the boy has trust issues.
One thing unpredictable parents gives you is paranoia, and this boy has it in loads. He's slow to trust because again, people are a gamble. He has a million backup plans but people are unpredictable and still stump him sometimes. Even within his own family, Tim feels out of place. He's caught in a constant state of "waiting for the second shoe to drop". It's a nasty habit but every time people make plans with him he'll never expect them to follow through.
Tim is incredibly secretive, enough that he has and will lie to his teammates and even Batman himself. He is often seen as the smart "perfect Robin" (think Ravenclaw) when really, Tim is the most cunning and tactical of any of them. Tim will do whatever is necessary for the sake of the mission and for the sake of lives. He will play dirty. Think Chaotic Neutral: he has a set of moral rules but no one can figure them out. He's a Slytherin through and through, he's resourceful and incredibly conniving.
That being said, the poor kid is traumatized, depressed, and starved for affection. It may take years to gain his trust but once that trust is given, Tim is the most loyal person on the planet. He will fight for the people he loves and will destroy the world making sure they stay safe. He never gives up when there's still a chance, even if its infinitesimal, Tim will fight like it's a certainty.
It may seem like Tim sucks at partnerships but his loyalty and cunningness makes him one of the best partners to have on a team. The Core Four is a true testament to how much Tim's habits change when it comes to the people he loves. He is adaptable and will be whatever you need him to be. Yet, that comes with a price as well.
See, Tim only ever receives love after being useful. His parents gave him praise after achieving something or being a good Drake model---something that was useful to them and not an actual Tim trait. Tim finds a loving home only after becoming a stand-in Robin. This typically manifests in Tim constantly needing to feel needed or useful in some way, shape, or form.
He's a team leader not only because he finds it hard to delegate tasks to people (trust issues) but because he finds security in people relying on him. Tim will stress himself out to the brink just so he can continue to be useful to the people around him. If you asked him to list his favorite traits about himself that didn't have to do with pleasing others, you'll stump him. The second he isn't useful all his insecurities and paranoia will fester until he pushes people who love him away.
With all these mental blocks, it comes as no surprise that Tim has terrible self-esteem. The Red Robin series makes it painfully obvious how little Tim cares for his life, he'll pawn it off if it'll advance a case. He's cautious and strategic about his attacks, yet reckless and self-sacrificing at the same time. He has little regard for himself because no ones ever proven otherwise.
At the end of the day he's prized for his intellect the most and that's what he's notorious for. He's the "smart" Robin. And while that is true, with earning Ra's respect and managing to pull off the entire Red Robin run, that does dismantle a lot of the other Robin's intelligence. Tim is smart, but so is literally every other Robin. Tim however, is calculating. Tim's intellect is precise and strategic. He is the dumbest idiot alive but he has a plan for everything, he can predict the smallest things and read people through and through. He's great at chess and monopoly because he can predict his opponents and plan far in advance, but the second you make him play something on the Wii like bowling or the airplane game, he's terribly stupid. Considering his lack of interest in school, he relies more heavily on street smarts and his heightened common sense.
Tim tries to know a little about everything but accidentally hyper fixates on one thing, so if you happen to bring it up, he'll talk your ear off. It makes him seem super smart but he's really just a bored nerd with too much unmonitored access to the internet.
He can be serious at times without meaning too because he doesn't like to waste too much of his time. He thinks time is precious and every second matters, that's why he spends so much time working rather than doing anything else. Robin gave him something to work towards, made him useful and his life worth living, he needs it. When it was taken from him it was crushing so he'll do anything to make sure he can stay in this line of work. Once again, feeling the need to prove himself to those around him instead of trusting that he is loved unconditionally.
But he really is a goofball. He's a nerd at the end of the day, a very tired, busy nerd, but a nerd nonetheless. He has passions and hobbies and will geek out over anything that's related to those things. He's funny and charming, incredibly witty, and knows how to be charismatic for show.
Tim was raised in the public eye so he has a lot of proper habits that will never get beaten out of him. His posture tends to be stiff and perfect until he's comfortable enough to change it or too out of it to care. He has impeccable manners and will be a proper gentlemen out of habit. He knows the differences between all the cutlery at expensive restaurants and knows when to use them without looking like an idiot.
Time passes by him easily so he will lose track of dates and the time of day. He stays busy a lot because he won't have to feel any other emotion other than stress and he's used to stress, stress is comfortable for him. He often forgets that too much stress isn't healthy.
Death is also a morbid comfortability for him. He witnessed each of his parents die in some way or the other, continuously watched his siblings perish (whether fake or not), and his high school best friend Darla, not to mention the countless lives he's failed to save. This gives him a pretty interesting take on life. Like I said, he thinks time is precious so he doesn't like to waste it. But at the same time, he has terrible time blindness. It's an paradoxical quirk of his.
Tim's entire personality is being a contradictory genius. Try to pin point a quirk of his and you'll end up spirally because it shouldn't make sense, yet it does. Tim is confusing because he's such a paradox of a person. His personality doesn't align with what his trauma tells, or what his thoughts project, or how he was raised, or even his morals, and yet, here he is. And it makes perfect sense all at the same time.
He's a puzzle, but man is he interesting to figure out.

If you don't mind me asking, can I ask your top 5 (or top 3) favorite characters from BSD? And why you loved them? And your top 5 favorite moments from the series? Thanks....
Side note: I literally got so excited when I got an ask notification. Sorry it took me awhile to answer it, I kinda went crazy with the details and I really had to think it over. Without further ado:
My Favourite Characters: 1) Dazai my babe; he's a very complex and in my opinion well written character.vOverall I love how despite the fact that he's morally grey and prone to violent tendencies he tries his best to be good because he wants to be the man Odasaku would be proud of. 2) Yosano; she's my girly and my babe. I genuinely love doctors and medics in the media. I'm also obsessed with her backstory because it's so different. The entire philosophy about how losing is a human right and she took that right away from people will always break my heart. 3) Kunikida; he's such an underrated character, I think his overall arc has been one of the most interesting. I'm not lying when I say I think he's had incredible growth as a character. It breaks my heart how all the odds are against him all the time yet he constantly blames himself. 4) Chuuya; I mean come on, he had to be on here, he's such a beautiful and well written character. I love Double Black's dynamic and Chuuya's backstory is so original and flushed out it makes him incredible to watch. Not only that but his ability and the way he carries himself is incredible. He's not written like many brutes and muscle men are written which I love. 5) Kouyou; Her character is another underrated one, I'm fascinated with her backstory and her overall relationship with the other mafia members. She had tried to escape as a kid and clearly struggled with her role in the darkness until she accepted it without a fight. She thought the same of Kyouka too and most likely also thinks the same of Chuuya. My top 5 scenes: 5) Akutugawa's confrontation with Kyouka during the Cannibalism Arc: It was such a quick moment that it's overlooked but it meant a lot to me, he was happy for her, that she found her purpose. He thought the only way to make her useful was to make her an assassin thrown to the wolves. But seeing Kyouka thrive in the light made him happy on her behalf. It also showed how Kyouka wasn't as afraid of him as she used to be, nor as ashamed of her past as she was before the Moby Dick or her heart to heart with Dazai. 4) Fukuchi's fight with Tachihara: I know the scene sucked because of the way things ended for Tachihara, but it was satisfying to see Tachihara's powers in action. I know we watched him go up against Yosano, Gin and Hirotsu, but seeing it being used so creatively against Fukuchi was breathtaking. It also really went more into depth with his internal battle about the Hunting Dogs and Fukuchi. Seeing him be so heartbroken Fukuchi betrayed them was so well portrayed. 3) "You're a Rough Ride Weretiger": Do I even need to explain how Akutugawa riding Atsushi to ballet music was one of the best scenes in the series. 2) Atsushi coming to terms with his complicated feelings for the Headmaster: This episode meant so much to Atsushi, as it does to me. I think it was very powerful because Atsushi doesn't forgive him. You don't need to forgive somebody to love them. The way Atsushi feels safer now that he's dead, but also dreaded the fact that the Headmaster even came to Yokohama in the first place? All the mixed emotions from that episode were truly powerful and I could rant about it for hours. 1) An odd choice but hear me out; Dazai confronting Kunikida in 'Love for the Disease Called Ideals': I know that the Azure messenger arc was Dazai's entrance exam in the manga and that Studio Bones butchered it to high heaven, but I really love the way that Kunikida and Dazai's relationship was portrayed in this episode. Dazai went on to state how the Azure King could become a dark path for Kunikida, and it also demonstrated how manipulative Dazai can be regardless of his intentions. Kunikida was truly born with tragedy in his blood and as Asagiri said was designed to suffer with Dazai. This episode not only demonstrated their dynamic perfectly, but also Dazai's understanding of Kunikida's weaknesses delving us deeper into his perspectives and why he's so rigid.

U: Share three of your favorite fic writers and why you like them so much.
First of all, as a caveat, I'd like to say that I don't actually spend a lot of time reading fic. I have read lots of fics, over the span of the last 5 years, but I don't really follow writers for just their writing, I tend to be drawn to stories that are unique and interesting to me. If I get brave enough to try reading something, I usually get sucked in. Also, this post got long, so I made a read more. Fic/author appreciation under the cut!
1: So, obviously, I'd say @thedemonsurfer! Permission Slip is the only fic I'm fully invested in, since writing for Security Breach is harder when I'm thinking about different fics that have different scenarios/interpretations than mine.
And what a fic Permission Slip is. I can tell they care a lot about the story they're telling and the characters they're portraying. Their writing has the perfect balance of tenderness, humor, and tension, to the point where I can go from tearing up in one scene, to giggling hysterically in the next. I actually adore how they do humor; it's not just the dialogue, it's the prose too, they have HILARIOUS descriptions for things in the characters' inner monologue. AND I also enjoy how they're flipping between perspectives like in my own fic. (These were both being written before we even knew about the other person's fic, which makes the coincidences all the more hilarious)
I like seeing the differences between Gregory's weary distrust, and Sun's nervousness about skirting the rules. Also Moon's frustration and discomfort that he's apparently constantly feeling while affected by the glitch. Very compelling. Getting to see inside every characters' head is a real treat.
My favorite scenes from the latest chapter are when Sun screams when the map bot jumpscares Gregory instead of Gregory screaming, and then Gregory later getting scared by the wet floor sign bot. Those two scenes seem like they go hand in hand, and I think about them all the time.
2. Bam! I'll say why I enjoy @bamsara 's writing. Solar Lunacy is phenomenal, and it makes sense that it got as popular as it did. What really drew me in was how clearly I could picture Sun and Moon doing the things they wrote about in the early chapters. They were unfamiliar, strange and uncanny, and still are, but we're getting to know them better. Moon is perfectly unsettling, having some of my favorite dialogue scenes and descriptions. I love how gremlin-like he is. Sun is also interesting; he's obviously more talkative, but he seems almost as threatening as Moon, due to how much he hides. I'm loving the depth to the characters in SL and the subtle hints and foreshadowing Bam puts throughout the fic. Very very clever writing. My favorite chapter so far is certainly 7 (because I haven't read chapter 8 yet kjhdsfhdfhgdsfg) And all of Moon's shenanigans were a delight. I love the visual of him sitting on the rafters just out of the light's reach 👌
3. @sycopomp, the author of Our Orbit is Elliptical, or OOIE as we like to call it. I was excited for the fic just by the concept-- an x reader fic where they DON'T immediately like you? Monnie really popped off with the concept, so I have to give praise to her as well- @madame-mongoose you're a mastermind btw <3
OOIE has the most interesting writing style I've ever seen. It fluidly drifts between the reader's perspective and the DCA, and it is CHILLING. The way Sun/Moon address the reader as "you" when it's from their perspective is really cool, it makes it feel more personal somehow. That first chapter is AMAZING, and I can't wait to see where it goes from there. There were so many times where I read a part where Sun was being mean and just dropped my fucking jaw. You know that kind of shocked gasp you make when you read something surprising? Like when you're reading OOIE? It has the BEST pettiness in it, and I love it so much. I was floored. Also, my favorite part is when Moon realizes the reader is about to make an even bigger mess with the ball pit machine, and just doesn't say anything and watches it happen. Dick move, 100/10
There! That's 3 of my favorite fic writers. Dear god help me I've been writing this for 2 hours. I'm never doing this again
Anyone not mentioned here is because I either didn't have room, or I haven't read/finished reading your fics! I'm so sorry, it WILL continue </3

What do you think of Tyrion ? For me there are 2 of them. The book one and the show one. Show one I hate. Book one I kinda enjoy because he constantly flirts with darkness. I don’t buy show Tyrion poor misunderstood meow meow. And I hate that they did the same with show Aemond. That’s why I prefer Aegon and Daemon. From the beginning you know where they stand, there are no attempts to make them sympathetic bullshit. Stop whitewashing characters in order to make characters more sympathising for audience. The reason why the Joker, Soprano Family and Roy family from Succession are so great is because they aren’t portrayed as some poor people being victims of their circumstances all their life. Aemond wanting to console Jace at Driftmark? What the fuck is that? Also giving him sexual trauma made me laugh. The show made it clear I and everyone else is meant to feel sorry for him but I just laughed at how pathetic they are. Like you have weak Viserys, pedo Daemon, rapist and drunkard Aegon and traumatised and with only one eye Aemond. So yeah, the winner of who should be the fan favourite is clear. Instead of showing the 4 of them as bad and letting people choose who their favourite is, they create 3 of them in unsympathetic light and make one of them #1 victim and the other 3 as monsters or weak men. Sorry but I hate the narrative where I am being shown down my throat who I am supposed to love and who to hate. Especially if 3 out of 4 characters are doing terrible things and only one behaves properly until starting the war. I really can’t wait for Aemond to burn Riverlands, most stans would leave his fanclub and began to see Aegon is not the worst guy out there. I just hope TGC won’t stop playing Aegon until the moment Aemond will show everyone what a legit psycho he really is. And tbh Aemond was my favourite green character in the book but the forced victimisation and the way the fandom act as if aemond is the most opressed character and "feminist" to ever walk in westros when he is the targaryen ver of Andrew tate in reality has completely ruined my enjoyment of him
I don't really have anything to add. I agree with your complains for the most part. I think lots of shows nowadays are painfully censored, the writing has to be simple and the views have to be walked by the hand because they cannot make an intellectual conclusion on their own.
Dunno if you've watched this. But Hannibal nbc was one of my favorite shows of all time. An interesting adaption that was definitely very different from the book material but didn't try to pretend to be better. It was its own thing and was extremely controversial while it was airing due to the violence, themes, and overall subjects. It also remains very much loved despite the years that have passed with an ever so dedicated fanbase.
it seems hard to recreate shows like this. Even GoT's writing was starting to suffering way before the last two seasons but ofc people were trying to be optimistic and we still had hope that one day George might publish another book...
I loved Tyrion and still do in the books. His pov happens to be a favorite of mine, but the show version of him got very bad very fast. It's as you mentioned, there doesn't seem to be a balance about the characters who are supposed to be dark but also possess good traits. It's what makes them interesting in first place.
There's a very weird love for oversimplification in recent times and it kinda sucks out the joy ngl.
As for show aemond, I've ranted so much about him I'd probably repeat myself. I'd only advise to keep expectations low. S1 they managed to make him murdering Lucerys an accident 💀 I wouldn't be surprised if they try something similiar with the burning of Riverlands (perhaps another misunderstanding like the alicent x Viserys one?) who knows. we can only wait and see

A through Z (minus the ones you've already answered)
A - Ships that you currently like a lot. (They don’t have to be OTPs because not everyone has OTPs.) Friendships, pairings, threesomes, etc. are allowed.
My favourite ship at the moment is FengQing (Feng Xin X Mu Qing from TGCF) and I am constantly talking @astrowaffles 's ear off about them. Platonically, I'm always mentally ill about the Shiratorizawa team and how they all support each other. Family-wise, I can't get Shen Twin aus out of my head
B - A pairing–platonic, romantic or sexual–that you initially didn’t consider, but someone changed your mind.
Yaku and Suga from Haikyuu, both platonic and romantic :) I think either way would be really sweet and funny
C - A ship you have never liked and probably never will.
Shiragoshi. I see no appeal in it for either of them and it kinda just gives me the ick
D - A pairing you wish you liked but just can’t.
Anything with Karasuno first years that aren't the stereotypical main ships except maybe Yamahina. Idk I just feel like Tsuki x either of the volleyball idiots would go terribly and someone would end up getting hurt.
Also, Yachi is very much a lesbian to me and I'm taking that to the grave 🫡
Also, kawagata doesn't click with me. I prefer reongata, since they're both third years and at least had dialogue with each other
For a non Haikyuu pairing, I've got to say giyushino or shinogiyu - I don't know if it's hinted canon or just widely popular but I really can't care for it. I don't hate it, I just have no interest
E - Have you added anything cracky/hilarious to your fandom? If so, what?
I haven't altered the fandom with it but I made #RichPrinceFuckerVirgil a trend with my friends back in 2019
G - Have you ever had an OTP? If so, do you remember your first one? Who was in it?
The timeline gets a bit confuddled here but my first otp was either prinxiety (Roman X Virgil from Sanders Sides) or klance (Keith X Lance from VLD)
I - Has Tumblr caused you to stop liking any fandoms, if so, which and why?
I scoped out the Skulduggery Pleasant fandom and I'm not planning on going back (which sucks because the books are amazing)
K - What character has your favorite development arc/the best development arc?
Either Zuko, Tsukki, Mu Qing, or Ming Fan (can you tell I'm a fan of grouchy people with the ability to do good?)
L - Say something genuinely nice about a character who isn’t one of your faves. (Characters you’re neutral about are fair game, as are characters you merely dislike. Characters that you absolutely loathe with the fire of ten thousand suns are exempt, as there is no point in giving yourself an aneurysm over a character that you hate.)
As someone very neutral over Asahi, I really have to say that he is portrayed as the ace amazingly. Even though he isn't the main character and can't score all the epic points, he's still an inherently powerful force and you always trust in him when the ball goes his way, as this viewer.
M - Name a character that you’d like to have for a friend.
Feng Xin :)
N - Name three things you wish you saw more or in your main fandom (or a fandom of choice).
Reincarnation fics (TGCF)
Multi-chap AU fics (Haikyuu)
ObaMitsu content (KNY)
O - Choose a song at random. Which ship or character does it remind you of?
The song "Black Sheep" by Gin Wigmore reminds me of Hua Cheng/TGCF calamities :))
P - Invent a random AU for any fandom (we always need more ideas).
Sendai Frogs as a forced together bounty hunting crew in a space au that becomes found family 💪
Q - A fandom you’ve abandoned and why.
DSMP/MCYT - after Technoblade sadly passed away and then the finale was handled so clumsily, I just couldn't bother with it anymore. However, I still watch a lot of those YouTubers today, like Tommyinnit and Jack Manifold :)
R - Which friendship/platonic relationship is your favorite in fandom?
Shiratorizawa Third Years for the win!!!!
@/baguantte has an AMAZING piece of fanart for all of them which I regularly return to look at :))
S - Show us an example of your personal headcanon (prompts optional but encouraged)
Shen Yuan was chronically ill before he transmigrated and he died not just due to choking but because a seizure happened during his rage-eating. We know he's an unreliable narrator, hence why he never mentions this - he hated being ill and felt ashamed by it, so he never wants to think about it now he's no longer sick.
A prompt for this could be Shen Qingqui gets wife plotted and the consequence is far too similar to how he lived his old life that he keeps nearly breaking over it. Could lead to an identity reveal or just some good ol' hurt/comfort
T - Do you have any hard and fast headcanons that you will die defending?
Yamagata has clinical depression. Idrk where this came from but it's something I very much stand by and have lots of interlocking ideas with so, yeah, no one is changing my mind on that.
U - Three favorite characters from three different fandoms, and why they’re your favorites.
Mu Qing (TGCF/Heaven Official's Blessing) - he's my favourite because of his complicated character. He says negative things, the rumours about him is how he is cold and unkind, yet we see his actions and behaviour portrayed very differently. He's a truly complicated guy.
Goshiki Tsutomu (Haikyuu) - I've written an essay on him which I now cannot find??? I'll have to fish it out but basically he's a really well written character whom performs so hard despite the anxiety he's visibly under being in such an infamous team
Shen Yuan (SVSSS/Scum Villain's Self Saving System) - he's a nerd who died and is now a hot guy but has the nerve to complain about it, he's just like me and I love that.
V - Which character do you relate to the most?
It sounds dramatic and emo as fuck, but Mu Qing. I just get him on a very deep level.
W - A trope which you are virtually certain to hate in any fandom.
Major Character Death or just Character Death in general - I always find it very cheap or unfulfilling. To get me on board with Major Character Death takes a LOT
X - A trope which you are almost certain to love in any fandom.
The Girlboss X Malewife ship - I don't mind the genders, I don't care for dynamics... if that ship is in there, it's likely to be my favourite!! See FengQing and KyouHaba for reference lol
Y - What are your secondhand fandoms (i.e., fandoms you aren’t in personally but are tangentially familiar with because your friends/people on your dash are in them)?
Bnha, Bungo Stray Dogs and a bit of Mob Psycho
Z - Just ramble about something fan-related, go go go! (Prompts optional but encouraged.)
AHHHHH OKAY UHHH I accidentally got my mother into not just Haikyuu and Demon Slayer but also TGCF?? We've been watching The Untamed together too - she really wants me to read her manga series Boys Over Flowers and I've been meaning to haha

Rewatching season 2 and it is so jarring how different things used to be compared to season 8 and onwards. I feel bad for constantly dissing the Netflix seasons but there's also...not much positive to say? I brought this point up before but now it's even more apparent that the way TPB handles personal conflicts used to be so much better. A major plot point in S2 is Bubbles feeling ignored by Ricky n Julian. They burn his shed down and try to make amends with him but Bubbles is reasonably upset and doesn't forgive them right away. Then in the Bible episode he tries looking out for Julian but Jules doesn't listen to him when Bubbles warns him abt Cinnabon Head.
Then Ricky is also so busy with Sarah that he doesn't listen to Bubbles either, and forgets to get Bubbs some food. They consistently treat Bubbles pretty bad throughout most of the season, even when they're trying to make up for what they did wrong. Then in the end they finally acknowledge that they've been bad friends to Bubbles and that he was right all along. What I'm trying to say is that the conflict is set up pretty well, and that even if Ricky and Jules are portrayed in an unlikeable way, it's hard to feel entirely angry at them. Because they genuinely FEEL bad about what they've done. They show remorse for what they've done and are clearly ashamed when it turns out Bubbles was right all along.
Julian got his heart broken because he wasn't listening to Bubbles and he jumped headfirst into romance with that con lady, ignoring how suspicious she was. That makes him fully realize he was the one that fucked up, and that he treated Bubbles poorly. He *apologizes*, he shows *remorse*. Something we barely see in the Netflix seasons. In S1-7 Ricky, Julian and Bubbles sometimes (and by extension all the other characters) are generally good people who make bad decisions. In the Netflix seasons they feel more like bad people that do smthing decent once every blue moon. They treat each other like shit consistently and barely ever apologize or make up for it. It sucks because I love these characters but it's so jarring to see them act so weird and antagonistic for no reason?
Julian can be extremely selfish and manipulates even the people he cares about, often with good intentions but sometimes completely in his own interest as well. But it always comes back to bite him in the ass and he often does reflect on his behavior. It's why I love his character so much. He's my absolute favorite so it's so upsetting to see how genuinely terrible he is in the Netflix seasons sometimes. I just wish the show writers would work more on getting back that good people that do bad things energy in their character writing, and not bad people that do bad things with little to no consequence energy.

I saw your tags on tbk and im glad someone said it. i waited to read tbk last because everyone kept saying its dostoivskys best work but i see now why its so popular with the right-wing, podcast boys. there were parts i enjoyed but for the most part, it sucked.
the main female characters exist to be catty and dramatic (and the women in the court room of course treat the trial like a soap opera). Lise, the only one with depth, vanishes off the page.
Dmitri goes around beating, drinking, shouting and being generally awful. He cheats on Katerina, chokes Grushenkas maid and admits he couldve have killed her and also was fully ready to kill Fyodor but!! he didnt get the chance to and someone else did therefore hes a tragic character ig. seriously am i suppose to feel bad for him? cause i dont, he very much deserved to be in prison.
Ivan and Smerdyakov are both actually fascinating and both are punished by the narrative, ivan for being a well-educated atheist and Smerdyakov for not wanting to be a servant of the man who raped his mother and having ambitions to go abroad.
And finally Alyosha. i know hes adored and hes cute and all but my god does he do shit all. his crisis of faith couldve been interesting, had it lasted longer than 5 mins. after which hes exclusively a delivery boy. we are constantly told hes angelic and everyone thinks as much but what exactly he is doing to stand out is never explained. he also doesnt really engage in zosimas 'active love' when it would have been difficult but needed. most people can be kind to children- thats easy. but what about being kind to Smerdyakov and treating him as a brother? what about addressing that Dmitri is the problem rather than just being helpful to people he has slighted?
Alyosha never has to acknowledge that being passive with Dmitri and Fyodor is at odds with supporting the people they torment. Helping Dmitri escape couldve been interesting in Alyosha having to face that he might be freeing the murderer of their father but nope. he *knows* Dmitri is innocent, so no difficult choice for him.
Anyway very sorry for the rant, i was just pretty dissapointed in this book. Its heralded as a sum of dostoivskys works but it really seemed to highlight all his flaws. Its long winded and repetitive at times, the characters seem less nuanced than he usually writes, the themes are on the nose. god is good, socialism and foreign influence bad. And again, there were parts i loved and was immeresed with but holy shit did i finish it underwhelmed.
I can’t help but completely agree with you anon, I think we are on the same page after finishing the novel.
It’s obvious that the book is far from terrible, it’s complex, it has beautiful prose and an interesting narrative, but overall it's just too many things at once. I understand that Dostoyevski knew that he wouldn’t have time to finish another book so he probably put 3 in 1, so we ended up with a mix of themes and plotlines and characters that’s too convoluted at times.
And I think Fyodor doesn’t deserve to be read superficially, I don’t want to fall into the simple interpretation of “he said orthodox christianity good and atheism bad”, because the entire part of Ivan’s and Alyosha's conversation at the tavern is a debate Fyodor is having with HIMSELF about faith and god; he puts arguments in Ivan’s mouth that he KNOWS are impossible to oppose (that’s why Alyosha is unable to counter Ivan’s stance of “God might be the creator but I don’t accept the horrendous world he has created”). However, the right-wing dudebros you mention DO interpret him in simple terms because his favoritism between the brothers is TOO obvious. If the narrative punishes one side while forgiving the other for horrible sins then we have Fyodor’s judgment on paper.
I can’t help but hate Dimitri even though Fyodor wants to portray him as a victim, a romantic and a “sentimentalist”. We get to know him through a story in which he’s about to rape a poor young girl because her family needs his money, but because he changed his mind the moment she bowed to the floor and was completely vulnerable below his thumb, we have to forgive him? He’s a hedonist obsessed with money because, as Fyodor tells us, “he has never worked for a cent”. He abuses women and people around him, he lies, etc. I wouldn’t even have cared if he had killed his father. I’d even have thought it was the only good thing he did in his life.
Ivan is punished in the most cruel way: his intellect and mind are taken away from him as he falls into madness. And for what? For rejecting a cruel god and understanding that his country needs the new ideas being born in Europe? For being an intellectual? I feel like Fyodor wanted to show us a contrast between him and Alyosha and I can’t help but laugh because at least Ivan was an ACTIVE character that had an effect on the narrative. Also blaming him for Smerdiacov’s actions? Dostoyevski's thesis through this plotline is basically: “Look at what happens! You intellectuals will write your academic papers and ideas and then stupid people will read them and cause mayhem. Therefore YOU are the gilty one.” But then he turns around and gives us religious sermons and applauds orthodox christianity, as if religion and the church are not the best example of misinterpreting ideas and causing harm and violence.
Also, how does he expect me to feel like Smerdiacov was a bad person? I don’t care that he killed his horrible father. If something, he should’ve done it sooner. Even more, he is the bravest and smartest of the Karamazov brothers because he decided to cut the cause of all their suffering from the root, and even come out rich out of it. He couldn’t choose the fate his mother and he had been given but he could choose freedom and he did so. But again, Fyodor punishes him and tells us he was a coward that would‘ve chosen death before consequence. It’s almost like he thinks that some people are really born to be a slug that lives in the mud and any desire to become something else is an unforgivable sin.
And Alyosha, he could be replaced by a plant in a pot and the plot wouldn’t change a bit. He is passive, ignorant and naive, and Fyodor applauds it because he thinks that that’s what Russian people need; if they are naive and never get in contact with DANGEROUS new ideas and follow their religious teachings everything will be fine. Which is the most idiotic thesis in my opinion. And don’t get me started on the classism and the paternalistic view of “the peasants”, it made me throw up a little. And the misogyny. Ah! Everything young right-wing men who just discovered “nihilism” would love to read and feel vindicated.
Even though I didn't like the general idea of the novel there were some parts that I truly loved, my favorite part being that conversation between Ivan and Alyosha at the tavern. And to finish, Dostoyevski is a men’s writer, he's a masculinist perspective of the worst of the worst, but nonetheless a damn good writer.

Do an analysis on your fave muppet man
Rori I need you to know that I saw this and shot straight up, sucking in a huge breath with the BIGGEST adrenaline spike I've had in days. I could literally talk about Jaskier for HOURS, and have to constantly reel myself in so I hope you know what you've unleashed.
Overall opinion: is it bad if my most prevalent opinion on him is just that he's a massive slut? Because that's the first thing that comes to mind whenever I look at him. I think he's severely underutilized, but I also understand why, like, from a management perspective, they don't want their most charismatic character taking up all the screen time. I mean, I'm only watching the show for him at this point anyway, can you imagine how much worse it would be if he was a main? Also I'm just like... fucking in love with the concept of him at this point? I mean his name is Dandelion. His nickname is Buttercup. He's a bard. People call him lark in fics. I was fucking gone as soon as I heard the bread line, but it only got worse from there
One virtue: okay, I like to insult my floppy little muppet boy (with fondness) but I really do think he's an interesting character. Reading about how they changed him from the book to the screen to fit a retelling for a more modern audience, I think it was clever that Lauren (writer) decided to pull away from Dandelion as a womanizer and instead write him like a loving puppy of a man. He's layered. He's sweet and kind, but also will stab a bastard. He's empathetic and willing to sympathize, but at the same time totally down for wishing a slow death upon his enemies. And I know that his overprotectiveness of Geralt is mostly romanticized fanon, but you cannot tell me that he wouldn't jump over a counter to punch anyone who insults his best friend.
One flaw: most of the problems that I have with Jaskier, much like the problems I have with the other characters, are not actually about the character themselves, but with the way their arcs were written, or the way character development just didn't happen. Jaskier is so neglected by the writers that a lot of his growth happens off screen. It has to, or he would just be totally stagnant. And so somewhere between his last scene in the first season and his first appearance in the second, he's turned into this serious rebel spy person, but the writers are still trying to portray him as "goofy old Jaskier! haha, he's funny!" but they're doing this while he's trying to help people escape from certain death, or after he's just been rescued from fucking torture, and it ends up giving you a bit of whiplash and wondering is there any consistency here?
Favorite moment: can't be from his arc because (AHEM) what arc?? But. I am so in love with the conversation he had with Yennefer, where they actually let him be serious and connect with her in a way that s1 Jaskier would never have done. I love love love when they let him show his compassionate side, because it's there! He cares about people so much!! And let's be honest, Anya and Joey worked so well together, I know, I know that they're never going to make Geralt/Yennefer/Jaskier canon, but if they didddd it would work so wellllll
Least favorite: GOD everything about him reuniting with Geralt/being in Kaer Morhen. Big boy just walks in there with his sad eyes and nipple armor and with absolutely no meaningful apology Jaskier just forgives him?? Honey! There are hundreds of people out there who would treat you better. Yennefer being one! Anyway, then, even though Geralt claims he "needs" him, Jaskier doesn't actually end up doing anything? He's just kind of there, I think because the writers knew that they needed to put him in that season or they would lose half their fan base. He's only ever acknowledged when he's being made fun of or pushed away, and I'm tired of it.
One relationship: well, we only really see him interact in any meaningful way with Geralt or Yennefer, but I prefer Yennefer. Like, they basically have nothing in common, but they still mesh so well, and even though I know their friendship won't be explored any more (because it reads as so genuine that Geralt/Yennefer feels like stone in comparison) it would be so cool to see them move past their initial dislike and become actual friends, maybe help each other heal from the MULTIPLE traumas
Relationship to explore: I want to see how Jaskier interacts with Ciri. I want to see it so bad. She's a child and he's a bard, can we not get him singing her a fun little song and letting her have some fun for once? Let him sing her a Cintran ballad and help her process and maybe mourn the things she's lost!! He is JUST as important as your other leads, so let him be a part of the family damn it! And let him be a father figure (or at the very least a weird uncle) to Ciri
What I would have liked to see: I think I've already said it, whoops, but really I would settle for seeing more of him. Jaskier is so good, but the show barely seems to care about him, like they don't realize that they've stumbled onto the best thing they're ever gonna have! Let my pathetic whore of a man have more screen time! Let him into the family! And maybe next time you think about using him for sex appeal don't force poor Joey Batey to do that fucking shit that male actors do to enhance their abs, that fucking dehydration shit? And don't make him shave, wtf, don't add on to our bullshit beauty standards.

What's one common trope given to each of the wolf pack that you just dont vibe with?❤
Commonly Given Tropes That I Don’t Vibe With
ok but i went a little overboard with this and elaborated so much more than i needed to
Sam: Everyone hates him for being such a hardass and for what he did to Leah. And I get it, I do. But a supernatural change in your life at such a young age where nobody knows how to really help you is beyond difficult. He had to grow up like overnight, at 19 he became “pack dad” as he watched all these children around him go through what he did, but he didn’t want it for them either. And then to make matters worse, he imprinted on his girlfriend’s fuckin cousin. He loved Leah, and he still did after Emily. It was out of his control and it tore him up. It’s a shitty fuckin situation and I feel so so bad.
Jared: Everyone thinks Jared is just such a smartass. I mean, he definitely was, it was well within his character. However, I think he has a lot more substance than that. He’s unwaveringly loyal. I think he values his relationships of all types more than anything. I just, I think this goes over a lot of peoples’ heads. He’s got a lot of love to give, I swear it. He may be a snarky boy, but he’d definitely do anything for the people he loves. I wish we got to see more of that, he is a character with a lot of substance.
Paul: Don’t even get me started. Hothead. Hahahahaha, his only personality trait is that he has anger issues, so funny! Let’s be real here, he comes from a broken family at a young age. He doesn’t have a mother in his life and that is something that causes a lot of issues! Not to mention that being a teenager is hard in itself, your body is changing and things are weird. Now let’s take into consideration that these are no longer normal hormones, his body is basically changing overnight to let him transform into an enormous wolf that has to dedicate his life to killing vampires posing a threat to him, his friends, and family. Everyone on the reservation, even. Forks, too. He had to sacrifice his entire life to do this, and he wasn’t exactly even-tempered to start with, and it’s known this change totally ups your irritability, hell it even made Jacob angry. Let’s be real, his anger issues are something to be considered other than “oooh angry hot boi 😈” jeez
Embry: Embry, bb boi Embry. I love his character so much. I think the whole thing about Embry is like haha Embry’s so funny and goofy but in reality the kid struggles a lot. He’s constantly fighting with his mom because he for whatever reason can’t tell her about the pack or anything. He’s grounded “until forever” and always feels like he’s disappointing his mom even though he’s really just doing his best but like in reality he’s always in trouble or “grounded indefinitely.” The transformation put a huge strain on their relationship. Now, on top of that, he knows now that one of his friends might be his half fuckin brother because he literally doesn’t even know who his father is because his mom won’t tell him. So he’s got not only daddy issues, now he’s getting some mommy issues. This kid has a lot going on and I’m sure he’s struggling more than he leads on.
Jacob: Jacob. The sunshine. I will be talking about angel boy Jacob in New Moon. I hate that he’s only seen to be in love with Bella. I would rather see it as him being loyal, supportive, and selfless. He would’ve done anything to put a smile on her face, he was caring. Jacob would’ve done anything for his friends, it was so beautiful. He was described to be the sunshine, he was full of love. No matter how down he was, he was always there to be the shoulder to cry on, no matter how much he needed one. I love this Jacob, I just want to give him a hug and tell him that everything will be okay.
Quil: Oh Quil, my boy Quil. I feel like everyone just thinks he’s kinda a dumbass for some reason. Like we don’t see much of him in the movies but I truly think Quil is actually super intelligent. I think he has more depth than he’s ever given credit for. Like when he told Bella that he was afraid to be next to be recruited to Sam’s “gang.” He knew he was next, he’s intuitive. I just wish more people saw Quil to be what he is, not just Jacob’s goofy friend. Well, he is Jake’s goofy friend but he’s a smart guy! I think he’s lowkey super intelligent.
Leah: She’s known to be a bitter bitch. I can’t stand this and honestly I think she’s one of the most caring people in the series. I don’t care that she gave Bella the cold shoulder, in-fact I give her props. The love of her life left her for her cousin, now she has to share thoughts with him and the guys who give her shit for her feelings. I don’t blame her for being so displeased all the time. Like she keeps getting the shit end of the stick the entire series, it sucks. She tries to protect Jacob, but he hates her for it even though she’s right. She then has to protect Seth, because she loves him more than anything. Her father died and she had to deal with not only that but then her mother dating Bella’s fuckin father, Charlie, making Bella her damn step sister. Shit’s whack and I’m so sick of hearing people say that Leah was a bitch.
Seth: Baby boy Seth, everyone’s favorite little ball of sunshine. I have an issue with the fact that Seth will always be portrayed to be perfectly bubbly, happy, and sweet. Sometimes, I just want to see him react to something. I feel so bad about his father passing, We only see him react minimally when it comes to Bella and the demon baby. I just would like to see an angry or frustrated side of Seth, a side that doesn’t forgive everyone for everything so quickly. I know deep down he probably struggles listening to everyone rag on his sister in the mind link. It’s probably conflicting to take orders from the man who broke your sister’s heart. I love that Seth is the nice, innocent boy but I know this kid faces inner turmoil. I just wish we got to see more of it.

I see your pfp is if dr starline 👀 what’s your opinion if the idw comics?
Overall love them. They're not perfect by any means, but I do quite enjoy reading them. Putting the opinion under the cut, because it'll likely be a bit long. lol
-The storylines in general are decent. Some of the arcs are kinda meh, but as a whole it's fine to me. But there's a few such as the arc that spanned from Issues #37-40. It started off great, but the ending sucked. Also that massive art quality downgrade in one of the issues. 😬 And while it was an overall decent arc, I feel like the Metal Virus saga went on a lot longer than it needed to. I have other tiny gripes from a story standpoint, such as how Sonic's amnesia as a result of the end of the Metal Virus saga was handled, but despite those, I still think the series as a whole is fine. I did really love several of the arcs, the first three that come to mind being the Tangle & Whisper miniseries, the Bad Guys miniseries, and the arc spanning from Issues #45-47.
-I LOVE the new characters introduced in IDW. As you can probably tell from my current icon, Dr. Starline is probably my favorite new addition, but I also really love Tangle, Whisper, Jewel, and especially Belle, too! Even though their arc isn't complete for me to give a full, proper opinion on either of them, I really love what we've seen of Surge and Kit, too.
-On the subject of character, that's kinda a mixed bag for me. Some characters were done well or better than their game incarnations, but others sucked. For example, Amy I think was improved upon. I loved seeing her character arc throughout the games slowly make her more and more independent, and this was like an upgrade to that, which is pretty epic. Hot take, but I also think the Deadly Six are another set that was improved upon. I still don't really like them that much as characters, but I liked the way they were written in IDW. In Lost World, they were all pretty flat with one personality trait (Zomom is fat, Zazz is stupid, Zeena is the girl, etc), but they actually had some sort of personality beyond that in IDW, and I honestly really liked it. Even though he's been constantly shoehorned into everything since Lost World, I'd even argue that this made Zavok the most tolerable of them all. However, there's other characterizations that I didn't like, the two most glaring being Shadow and Sonic himself. I REALLY hate how Shadow has been portrayed recently. The last main series game where he was still himself was Sonic '06, so that's been almost 20 years now, which is really sad. There's been a few spinoff titles after '06 where Shadow has been fine, (Sonic Chronicles and the two Rivals titles, just to name two), but those get kinda ignored. Love the game or hate it, I really love how Shadow was portrayed in Chronicles in particular, especially how there's one cutscene where he outrights refers to Omega as his friend. I really wish we could have interactions between Team Dark like that again, but knowing how SEGA has been lately, it's not likely. The current version of Shadow is basically "hurr durr I am edgy also friends suck and I don't have nor need them >:(((" and IDW has been kinda reflecting that personality, which is really disappointing. I still like Shadow, but I hope someday we can have his old self back. lmao keep dreaming, right? As for Sonic, to put it bluntly, he's an asshole. I'd say he's not quite as bad as current game Sonic with some of his bs, but still... Not really a big fan of how he behaves sometimes in the comics, but he's still more tolerable than what they did to Shadow. And most times, he's fine, imo, it's just those certain moments with him.
As for everyone else I can think of (like Eggman, the Chaotix, Silver, Knuckles, Blaze, etc), they all act fairly close to how they normally did in the games, so they're all fine to me, too. They all stay closer to the source material, so I like that.
So in conclusion, I like the comics, but I also know they're flawed just like everything else is.

who's your newest oc :Oo??
This was actually difficult to answer- It's been a while since I've made a new character that isn't just a blatant self insert 😅 I think the last characters that I made, though, were my fairy tale gang! This is gonna get a bit long and I'm very sorry kssbsksh I just love this story a lot--
The story starts with three college kids who are unlikely best friends. Mitchell, a jock whose brains are in his biceps, Noah, a Theater Major who is constantly reading, and Kirsten, a political science major who had a very rough home life, and was never much interested in romance.
Noah's favorite book is a story about "a strong independent princess who don't need no man", Princess Elaina. He says that it's his favorite because of it's subversion of gender roles and tropes, but in reality, he is MAJORLY crushing on the prince of the story, Prince Dexter. Through some magic that I haven't come up with an explanation for yet, the three end up sucked into the world of the book!
Noah is absolutely geeking out, and he all but sprints to show his best friends the world he's fallen so in love with! When they meet Elaina, they find out that she's totally self aware and the reason that she doesn't need a man is because she knows what her book is about. In reality, though, she's a hopeless romantic who falls for Mitchell immediately. This poses a bit of a problem for the world of the story, which will begin to unravel if the main staples of the universe aren't maintained. But Noah, who loves this story and loves his friend, wants them to have just one night where they can be together. Kirsten agrees that she shouldn't have to live that way, and agrees to take her spot on the throne for a night while she and Mitchell go to a ball together. The very same ball where Prince Dexter will be, and exactly where Noah was dreaming of going!
While Mitchell and Elaina have their one night of romance, Noah meets prince Dexter and they hit it off right away. Charmed, enchanted, enamored with this mystery man, the prince spends all night dancing with him. Noah knows that for the story to stay in tact, Dexter has to remain single, though. So he takes off in a very Cinderella-esque fashion when the clock strikes midnight. Mitchell and Elaina mourn the lifetime of love that they'll never get to share the whole way home.
The three return to the palace to collect Kirsten and thank her for taking the princess' place so she could have one night of love, but it turns out that Kirsten is having the time of her life fixing all of the social and economical problems with Elaina's kingdom! It was one night, and yet she had come up with a way to solve several of the kingdom's major issues.
In the end, when she looks at Elaina and Mitchell and thinks of the life that she has waiting for her, she makes the decision to stay in the book in place of Elaina, running the kingdom and remaining the true princess who doesn't need a lover. This allows Elaina to leave with Noah and Mitchell, both happy to live the lives that they'd always dreamed of- Elaina with a lover, and Kirsten with a true place in life.
Noah keeps the book close to his heart when they're able to travel back- He, Mitchell, and Elaina reread the story many times over to visit their friend, who finally seems happy.
A year or two later, a movie is made about the book! They all go see it and complain about how inaccurately they portrayed Kirsten fkdbslsb

Catching fire is my favorite movie, just like it is for many fans because it was cinematographically and acting wise incredible. Josh Hutcherson does a great job conveying vulnerability in Peeta, and Sam Claflin is great at showing how cocky, but smart Finnick is. And ofc Jennifer Lawrence. I only have to think about her scenes right after Cinna dies where she goes from absolute shock to sadness to *game face* in literal seconds and you can actually SEE the transition. Same with the end of the movie where Gale tells her a district 12 is no more and her face changes from despair to panic to anger and we know Katniss is going to kill Snow, even thought she hasn’t said anything. The film still has its faults...most important being making Plutarch into this mastermind who put Katniss in the Quill on purpose vs it being a shock to him in the books and the complete lack of info about the existence of District 13. Because there’s no Bonnie and Twill, it comes out of no where in the movies when Haymitch tells Katniss D13 exists and they are flying there rn. But still, I think the writing and performances (and a little bit of google for non readers) makes up for these mistakes.
Now let’s talk about Mockingjay. I hold the unpopular opinion that it was OK to split the last book into 2. I know it was a purely financial decision but I think knowing how much is covered in mockingjay and the absence of an inner monologue, splitting the book into two movies ideally allows to tell the full story without it feeling rushed or confusing. With this in mind, why did the last two movies suck??
Mainly, the writing. The writing was literally terrible. all of the subtext that the writers used in catching fire to portray katnisses/ other characters emotions is gone in mockingjay. everything is stated. I only have to think back to Part 1 where Peeta says “they’re coming katniss” instead of just “district 13, dead by morning!” to prove my point. That moment in the movies was nearly laughable. Not only do they explicitly make peeta state that there’s going to be a bombing of D13, but then Haymitch has to say “that was a warning”. There’s absolutely no subtext. And don’t even get me started on that weird zoom call between president snow and Katniss while they try to get out Peeta from the capitol. It’s just a whole lot of : “President snow, president snow it’s katniss” as of the Wifi is bad or something.
and ofcourse Finnick. It felt like character assasination the way they dealt with him in part 1. In the books, Finnick is a literal depressive MESS. He can’t leave the hospital or not be sedated for long periods of time because he’s absolutely lost it thinking of annie in the capitol. In fact he wishes that she’s dead because he can’t stop thinking that his actions are going to end up in her getting tortured. It’s incredibly painful to watch Finnick, who’s so confident and assured in himself, the comedic relief and most importantly someone Katniss genuinely likes, become this shell of himself barely able to be conscious because the love of his life is held captive. in the movies, he’s just...boeing. In fact he seems quite put together, but just not contributing much to the scenes he’s in. and we know these actors are capable cuz we have seen it before in the previous movie. But the writing removed all subtext and ruined the characters. Even Coin, who all of us dislike in the books, who constantly reminds Katniss of who’s in charge by torturing her prep team, publicly holding her to her role of the mockingjay etc, is not as ruthless...in fact she’s kind and seems like she wants to be a benevolent leader who cares about Katnisses wellbeing. This is why people who didn’t read the books are so confused about why Katniss shoots coin instead of snow.
I think the easiest way that Mockingjay could’ve knocked it out of the park like Catching fire did is would have been to show Peetas POV in the capitol. Instead of boring scenes filled with empty space and meaningless conversations to fill the movie time in part 1, adding in scenes of peetas capitivity would make the movie more intense and allow viewers to connect with the changed Peeta and feel for him. especially with how big of a role he plays in part 2 and in Katnisses recovery...it would have been nice to see his captivity so the audience could feel how broken and guilty Katniss feels about Peeta and the importance of his own recovery post the war.

- Before you guys were together, you guys were pretty good friends
- He used to see you as an extra, but you guys got pretty close and he started to see you as an equal
- It didn’t take too long before he started to fall for you
- He was 100% the one who asked you out believe it or not
- Kirishima had to talk him into it though
- This boi gets so jealous so quickly
- Of course, he trusts you and knows you love him and only him, but he gets really angry and jealous when another boy gets too close to you and flirts with you
- He’ll usually just angrily walk over and glare at the person
- Most of the time, the dude just walks away
- If he doesn’t, Bakugo usually just drags you away
- He’s really not too into PDA because his friends will probably make fun of him for it
- However, he wouldn’t mind holding your hand or letting you kiss him on the cheek
- If you’re in the common room and the class is watching a movie or something, he wouldn’t mind wrapping his arm around you
- He’s way more affectionate when you guys are alone though
- When you guys are alone, he constantly wants to cuddle, but he’d never admit it
- He’s always the big spoon unless he’s really upset, then sometimes he’ll let you be the big spoon
- He prefers facing you when you cuddle though
- He’s surprisingly soft around you when it’s just you two
- However, if you point that out he’ll get defensive and deny it
- “I love you...” he’d say as he holds you tightly
- “Someone’s being soft,” you’d laugh.
- “Shut up, I’m not soft,”
- I personally don’t see Bakugo calling his girlfriend names like ‘dumbass’ and shit like that
- I see him jokingly say nerd time-to-time, but I don’t see him calling his girlfriend mean names
- Arguments with Bakugo honestly don’t happen as often as you think they would
- When you guys do argue, he tries not to raise his voice because he doesn’t want to hurt your feelings
- However, one time you guys got into a really bad argument and he ended up shouting at you
- “WHY CAN’T YOU UNDERSTAND SIMPLE THINGS?! HOLY SHIT! WHY AM I EVEN DATING YOU!?”
- That really hurt you, and once he realized what he said, he felt terrible and did whatever he could to make it up to you
- When you’re in private, he kisses you a lot
- Nose kisses, forehead kisses, cheek kisses, lip kisses, etc.
- His kisses depend on his mood
- If he’s mad, he’s going to be rough, but really passionate
- If he’s in a calmer mood, which is pretty rare, his kisses are usually softer but still passionate
- However, in public, the most he’s ever done is give you a peck on the lips
- Once again, he will not risk getting made fun of, he doesn’t want his huge ego destroyed
- Hugging Bakugo when he’s mad makes his anger decrease by 40-75%
- Your dates with him will probably mostly include going to parks, watching Netflix in his dorm, or going to dinner
- His favorite type of date is just watching Netflix with you in his dorm
- He likes his privacy when it comes to relationships, so if he can just be alone with you, he’ll take that opportunity
- Expect him to cook for you a lot
- He loves impressing you with his skills, and his cooking skills are pristine
- He’s also really protective of you
- He’d be the type to throw himself into danger to protect you, which he usually doesn’t do for most people
- If anyone calls you a name
- This boy will go off
- “WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY ABOUT HER?! I WILL NOT HESITATE TO KILL YOU, YOU WORTHLESS SACK OF SHIT!”
- “Katsuki, calm down,”
- “NO!”
- He just wants you to feel safe and protected even though he’ll never admit it out loud
- He also wants you to be as confident as he is
- Which probably won’t happen, but he’ll work on making you as confident as possible
- If you ever call yourself ugly, he’ll just look at you
- “Are you blind?”
- He gets really angry when you talk bad about yourself
- When it comes to comforting, he’s clueless and awkward at first, but he eventually learns how to make you feel better
- At first, all he’d do is hug you and let you vent to him
- But after a few months of dating, he’ll usually cuddle with you or hug you and whisper comforting things into your ear
- “It’ll be okay, just breathe,”
- He’ll never tell you to not cry
- He knows from experience how much it sucks when you let everything build up until you snap
- He would never want to see that happen to you
- He usually says things like:
- “It’s okay, I’m here,”
- “Let it out, it’s okay to cry sometimes,”
- He can be a whole other person around you, it’s actually amazing
- He goes from angry pomeranian to soft boi around you
- It breaks his heart when he sees you cry or upset
- All he wants is for you to be happy
- If someone makes you sad, he’ll threaten them and possibly beat their ass
- If someone makes you cry, he’ll flip out and will more than likely end up beating their ass (only if the person’s a boy obviously.)
- He rarely lets himself cry in front of you because he doesn’t you to think he’s weak
- However, he has had a few breakdowns around you
- Please comfort him when he’s sad, he deserves it :(
- He’ll support you through anything no matter what
- He treats you like a queen
- He loves you more than anything and he’d do almost anything for you <3

[hi, if you’ve finished reading Hero of the Story, this post is for you]
I’m in the middle of finishing a Pathology report about the heart but eh, I think you all deserve a tumblr post (seeing as I’ve constantly urged you to follow me here after every chapter 😂)
So yes, to all my readers of Hero of the Story who are now following me in this site, thank you so, so, so much. I did promise to reply to all of your reviews in the epilogue, but I’m starting to get swamped with work again. Nevertheless, I took the time to write this thank you post because you all deserve it for being so kind and supportive.
If you are all reading my A/Ns, you know that this was my quarantine passion project and I honestly didn’t expect it to be this monstrous. This fic is by far the longest i’ve ever written and I’m still in disbelief at how fast I’ve managed to finish 57 chapters with 300k words in just 5 months. I’m a shitty author - like I seriously have a hard time finishing a fic - but HotS was a delightful exception. I’ve fallen in love with the world I’ve created and all the characters in it, so typing the words was almost effortless. I can imagine every scene so vividly - every color, every reaction, every dialogue - and I knew right there and then this will be my most favorite fanfic I’ve ever written so far.
Thank you for wholly accepting Hermione as a *spoilersssss* Pettigrew 😂 I know some of you have been skeptical with this weird twist at first, especially because of how Peter Pettigrew was portrayed in canon. But you’ve accepted it, loved it even! And Peter! My sweet, sweet HotS Peter. I’m not sure if you’ve all deduced it by now, but he is the hero of this story. Although this fic is mainly Hermione’s tale, the characters surrounding her had grown and developed because of her influence and I am very much proud of how HotS Peter Pettigrew turned out. It still makes me a tad giddy when someone points out it was mighty weird how I’ve made him/her so attached to my own version of Peter haha.
And the Jamione! My sweet, sweet baby James *sigh* I love him so much and I hope to read more James/Hermione in the future. This pairing is really difficult to write, especially a time travel one because of the possible consequences of their romance (read: Harry’s nonexistence). But yes, I love Hermione, I love James, and I love reading them together. The real ultimate goal of writing HotS was to spread my genuine love for this rare pair.
SO YES, THANK YOU! I’m going to cut this short now because it’s getting a bit monstrous too and I don’t think y’all appreciate reading a long one anyway 😂 But if ever you find yourself reading this whole post, just know that I’m thankful for the love and support.
Lastly, I wish you all to live a happy life! I know the world isn’t exactly a happy place to live in right now (this pandemic freaking sucks and don’t get me started at how shitty our national government is lmao) but soon, in the future. I hope you’ll be like Hermione who’ll eventually find her own happiness and peace, surrounded by people who love and care for her very, very much. ❤️

The show as a whole, and this blog moving forward.
Nothing is perfect.
Literally nothing. Take your favorite series. A comic book, a video game, a movie, television show, a manga series, or a book series, and you’ll eventually find someone who says that there was a problem with it.
Nothing is total garbage either. Take your least favorite series, and you’ll eventually come across someone who took valuable and good lessons from it.
Take TeamFourStar for example. On multiple occasions, they have made fun of Dragonball and have criticized decisions made by Akira Toriyama. This is despite them being huge fans of the franchise as a whole. They acknowledge that what they like isn’t perfect, and they’re not afraid to point out the flaws in it.
Or take anyone who covers a franchise. They’ll find flaws and behind the scenes things that, to the average viewer, they wouldn’t have realized was a thing.
Now, the inner workings and behind the scenes issues at RoosterTeeth is another topic for someone far more qualified than me, but there are many problems within the company that affect the show, RWBY, as a whole. For example, their rather blatant frat-like environment and professionalism makes for a bad understanding of major topics like abuse, trauma, and discrimination. Not counting their many associations with predators, these guys have had a bad track record with their hires.
But a major problem with the show, and by extension, the company, is an unwillingness to acknowledge their past mistakes and lack of attempts to make up for them to ensure that they wouldn’t happen again.
Take the racism issue within the show. Miles openly claims that the reason is sucks so bad is because he’s a white guy. But then his fans defend him by saying that he’s half Mexican. Add to the fact that we have no real proof that Miles is actually talking to minorities about how discrimination works, and that they kinda dropped the whole racism arc after Blake and Yang killed Adam, the show… has no reason for that whole thing anymore.
Now, I get it. They had a few reasons to add racism to their show despite them being awful at portraying it, and the negativity it brings. One was that they just wanted to say “don’t be a dick to people who look different from you.” and the other is basically to have an issue that wasn’t tied to the grimm (I hope. If it turns out that Salem is responsible for the racism, the show is basically irredeemable at that point in regards to that particular subplot, and nobody is allowed to invalidate any Person of Color’s feelings on the subject). The issue was that they didn’t want to get uncomfortable with the whole thing. They didn’t want to deal with the heavy subjects. So, instead of actually showing the racism, they merely talked about it.
Slave labor, cave-ins, a lack of respect- none of that was shown. All we got was generic bullying, which ultimately made the White Fang look as if they were dishing out retribution for minor offenses. This wasn’t a good look.
Other media have done racism better, even fantasy racism was better portrayed by the X-Men. So to see that RWBY, a show made by nerds botched it that badly?- It hurts. It hurts a lot.
Now, yes. There are also other media that have been absolute garbage when it came to racism, even the fantasy kind. I’m not aware of any off the top of my head, but I think one that did it pretty poorly would be Star Wars. Mostly in regards to their droids. We don’t really see any major repercussions about how they’re treated on Tatooine, and it’s kinda dropped. Luke even tries to trade R2 and C3PO to Jabba, and doesn’t do it in person. Anakin treated his droids better. The emotionally unstable guy who ultimately became the emperor’s attack dog was the least racist person, at least in regards to droids, in the galaxy by the time the OT came by.
So is that it? A really big, famous, and successful franchise did racism worse?
No. That’s not it. Because like I said, take your favorite movie, and you’ll find someone who has an issue with it.
The same applies to RWBY. This show had so much going for it. For starters, nobody else has been as successful with something like this. A fully animated series with a major overarching plot that is produced completely by an internet company.
So, expectations were high. And when the show failed to deliver, it hurt.
We had characters that were great, but who had interesting character traits dropped for unknown reasons. Ruby’s obsession with weapons was unceremoniously dropped for no real reason. Like HBomb said in his overall review of the show, if there was an arc where Ruby and Jaune were to develop a new weapon together, and that in the future, we’d see it in action and that it would include all the fancy tech of the other weapons while still staying true to the weapon it was, that would have been really great and awesome to see.
But instead… We get… Jaune having to cover for his cheating his way into Beacon. We get Jaune constantly harassing Weiss to go to the dance. We get Pyrrha thirsting after Jaune for… Reasons.
So many things in earlier seasons were dropped for reasons that don’t make sense.
At least with Weiss, they dropped her racism because “it doesn’t sell well.” And yes. That is what I’m assuming they dropped it for. They saw that Weiss sales weren’t as big as the other girls, so they dropped the racism altogether, and decided to say that she was against her father’s racism the whole time and wanted to better the company.
They could’ve had her say “It was easier to blame the Faunus instead of my father for what happened.” and that probably would have made everything feel more natural. Instead of acknowledging this mistake, the writers decided to drop it altogether and pretend that it never happened.
These guys have also portrayed major real life problems and showed them as jokes, or not as bad.
Take what Sun did for example. Because he decided to stow away on a boat and steal from a fruit stand for funsies, Weiss is actually justified in her rhetoric towards him. He did multiple illegal things in succession right in front of them! Sun didn’t steal because they wouldn’t serve him and it was the only way for him to get food, he didn’t stow away because the ticket guy assumed that he stole a legitimately purchased ticket, he did it for fun. Then he decided to stalk Blake after she had a breakdown and was in a lot of emotional turmoil. And… It’s apparently okay, because he cares about her.
For a character that they decided to say was the victim of abuse, they really didn’t seem to want to portray that as a problem until her abuser did it.
Yang thrashing the nightclub in her trailer?- Apparently not a good look for her to seem violent. So it gets dropped instead of being used as proof that she would attack Mercury unprovoked in volume 3. What’s the count on me pointing out how awesome that would have been again?
And instead of actually understanding the problem, they decided to have Tai make unfair comparisons to Raven, call her soul a “temper tantrum”, essentially say that it was a bad thing for her to rush in against Adam for because she wanted to save Blake (And then the show decides to reward Jaune for similar, albeit more selfish behavior), they decided to try and justify Tai’s comments after she was taught to “not be so hotheaded” and make her a hothead again, probably because a lot of people pointed out that Yang wasn’t really a hothead who never thought in earlier volumes. These guys decided to retroactively justify Tai’s comments, after said comments were supposed to fix the problem. Tai wasn’t even being a father in those scenes, he was being Miles’ mouthpiece.
And then there’s Oz.
Retroactively, I think I get what they’re trying to do. If everyone had known that going into the hunter business meant throwing your body at an immortal opponent, they probably wouldn’t apply to begin with. Nobody is prepared for that, and I think it’s important for people to understand that nobody is prepared for that, so that maybe we shouldn’t be so harsh in jumping at these characters’ throats for pointing that out. Yes, this is vaguing to someone in particular, but that’s not the point. The WoR on aura was narrated by Salem. Who should logically know by this point why Oz keeps coming back, as opposed to the WoR that sorta suggested that maybe reincarnation was his semblance.
In all honesty, it probably would’ve been cooler if it was, as opposed to some god saying “Hey, fix this problem that’s not really being a problem for me. I’m bored and I want to see a good soap opera.”
And really?- Naming your big bad villain after a time when women were falsely prosecuted? What?- Is the show trying to say that women that are abused will become villains and that they have to work through it on their own without a real support system or they’ll become villains that men have to be tasked with stopping? Sounds to me that the writers’ Texas education is seeping into the writing.
Instead of using the lore or characterization that was already established, the writers decided to just keep adding on instead of building on what they already had. Yang being a mother figure to Ruby?- Gone. Jaune wanting to prove that he could be a hero despite his lack of training and his bumbling attitude?- Also gone. Blake being a strong advocate for equality?- Gone. The many hints that Oz’s semblance is what allowed him to reincarnate?- See ya. The hints that Blake was missing one of, if not both of her parents?- Adios.
The writers didn’t really think through character dialogue. And that’s because they’re more used to using pre-established characters. Their last work was RvB’s Chorus Arc, where they had characters that were already characters. They didn’t need to build anything except for a few new ones that would bounce off of the old ones. Say what you want about RvB:Zero, but it actually made use of the new characters it established while only having them bounce off of one already established… And that season is basically just an excuse to make a bunch of cool fight scenes. Seriously. After each fight, I expect Wiz and Boomstick to show up and explain to the audience how and why the fight went the way it did. Then again, that might have to do with their most famous animator animating and being part of the directing process of the current season, but I digress.
The writers aren’t professional. They’ve established this. They’ve also unceremoniously ditched the people closest to Monty. You’d think that after his death, they would’ve reached out to Sheena and said something like “Hey, I know we’re all going through a rough time, but do you want to work with us on this? You were close to Monty, and we think that he would’ve loved for you to be on board with the process.”
But no. She gets shut out, as does Shane. As does a lot of other people close to him.
And then more shit gets piled up, and more problems become more noticeable.
This didn’t feel like a passion project anymore, it felt more like another IP for them to make a profit off of. Hence why we didn’t get any major sexuality reveals until recently (as of me writing this). These guys want to profit as much as they can, and while I understand that they need to have money to put food on the table, dragging out things isn’t the way to go. Neither is rushing past things. The pacing feels off. Nothing feels like it’s going at appropriate speeds anymore, and more and more questionable decisions keep popping up.
Like… Why is Penny’s father a person of color when she’s white?- There’s so many implications behind that that it hurts. Could’ve made them both white.
Why is Ironwood’s semblance basically a neurodivergent aspect of the brain that is effectively the reason why he’s going full dictator? (Personally, if they had kept Ruby’s weapons obsession, that could have worked as a positive representation of what I’m assuming is ADHD as opposed to Ironwood’s very blatant negative portrayal).
Why wasn’t Yang’s lack of faith in Ruby better built up?- It feels like it came out of nowhere, and while I am glad that at least someone is questioning Ruby, and that I’m also kinda glad that it’s someone close to her so that Ruby does have to reflect on it, it… Kinda came up out of nowhere. This could’ve been something she discussed with Blake, but I guess that wasn’t important enough.
The writers don’t really think ahead on a lot of things. It feels like they only focus on the volume in front of them. Which wouldn’t be a bad thing if they also didn’t actively ignore what happened in prior volumes. Like I said: Yang wasn’t really that much of a hothead prior to Tai’s advice. If you want to take a singular instance of her being one as proof that that’s all she is, then I guess Obi-Wan is one too, since he sliced off somene’s arm in A New Hope, and that apparently, nobody wanted to mess with the guy wielding a lightsaber, so nobody tried to confront him outside of Imperial soldiers.
The writers don’t look back on the past, and they don’t look towards the future. They only see the present that’s in front of him. To be honest, it feels like they took the wrong message from Master Oogway’s famous “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift… That is why we call it ‘the present,’“ That quote isn’t to say that one should disregard the past and ignore the future. It means to realize what happened in the past is in the past and that you can learn from it, realize that you can’t control the future because it hasn’t happened yet, and that you can do your best right now to improve the future.
The biggest reason why the rwde tag dwells constantly on past moments is because the writers refuse to learn from them. The writers make the same mistakes, and it’s only when fan outcry is loud enough that they realize it’s a mistake. But they won’t take the time to understand why it was a mistake, they’ll only say “Oh hey, this was a mistake.”
Take Jaune’s screentime for example. Evidently, there was enough outcry about it that Miles no longer likes writing him anymore, but the writers themselves failed to realize why Jaune’s screentime was a mistake.
Jaune’s screentime and development came at the expense of other characters. Other characters that could have also developed alongside him if the writers were smart. Take the whole “Jaune cheated his way in” thing for example. Ruby only got in because of nepotism, if she had found out, then they could both bond and grow from the shared belief that they didn’t deserve to be there on their own merits. It would still be a problem that Jaune got to cheat his way in without repercussions but it would develop the first letter in the title, and Jaune at the same time (and again, my idea that his hero ancestors got him in via nepotism is still there. The writers still have time to retcon it by saying that the parents bribed Jaune’s way in, and that Jaune basically cheated his way in for nothing).
Or take Jaune unlocking his semblance as another example. Aside from fact that this moment is the scene that will forever taint Volume 5 in my eyes as the worst volume ever (Jaune charging Cinder and getting to unlock his semblance because Weiss got impaled because Jaune couldn’t control his revenge boner while Yang charging Adam ends with her being belittled and losing an arm because she wanted to save Blake), that scene could have gone way better. Instead of Weiss, have it be Ren, Nora, or Ruby. Ren had finished up an arc last volume, and given the precedent set by Pyrrha, once a member of team JNPR finishes an arc, they die, Ren being impaled would have put viewers on the edge of their seats. Weiss being impaled doesn’t do that, as she still has many more arcs to go through, and is a title character. Nora is hardly a character, and was certainly a viable target, especially since she was a hard counter to what Hazel was doing. Taking her out would have also made sense because then the main team loses one of their major advantages over the evil team. And finally, Ruby being impaled would have made sense from a character perspective. Considering that Cinder was all “I want revenge on Ruby” the whole volume and the one before it, her targeting Ruby would have made sense. In fact, the whole fight could have been Cinder being largely dismissive towards Jaune and treating him as more of an obstacle to her target for revenge than her just toying with him because she has to have sadist tendencies™.
The writers got that Jaune’s screentime and moments of character development were a problem, but they neglected to understand why it was a problem.
And instead of acknowledging this mistake, they instead decided to bury it, and not acknowledge it at all.
Acknowledging a mistake is better than pretending that the mistake didn’t happen in the first place.
The rabid defenders need to realize that this series isn’t perfect. There are flaws in it. Undoubtedly, if there was another series that had similar, or the same issues as RWBY did, those defenders would call it out, not realizing that the show they defend so fervently, has the same or similar ones.
And the haters need to realize that this show isn’t as flawed as it is. A similar situation as the above would probably take place. Another series has similar, or the same good moments as RWBY does, and they’d probably praise it, despite those same moments being in the show that they hate so much.
So what does this mean for this blog?
It means that this blog isn’t going to be dedicated to simply hating on the show, or blindly praising it. When credit is due, it will be given. When criticism is due, it will be given. This blog is still being run by one guy, and it’s probably going to stay that way.
Nobody’s perfect, not me. Not you. Not the writers.
And similarly, nobody is the physical incarnation of failure. Not me. Not you. Not the writers.
No matter how it feels, we’re all still human. And we all deserve to grow as critics, as writers, as artists, as friends, as family members, as community members, and as people.
Even if it feels like the crew have been given every opportunity to grow as writers, they still deserve all the other opportunities.
Would it be nice if they acknowledged their past fuck-ups and apologized for them?- Yes of course.
Would it be nice to actually see growth from them rather than them just trying to claim that they did?- Duh.
But we’re all human beings.
And in all honesty, I’m tired of hating on the things I can’t control. Hate is one part off of the path to the Dark Side.
Maybe I should do a Star Wars post soon, what with how I referenced it so often here… Who knows?- Maybe this can be more than just a RWBY criticism blog.
