honestly tho i think the fallow mire is the best map in inquisition. the rest of them try to be TOO big because they’re chasing the open world feel and. plenty of other people have spoken, better than i could, about how it makes them feel empty and like they’re just fluff for fetch quests to pad out playtime hours

but the fallow mire is still PLENTY big and feels much more dense because there’s less empty space and overall just. less Going On. i know it’s the dragon age protagonist’s job to get involved in every problem, but i do like how most of the quests seem tighter, related to each other and the overall plot. and it feels more true to the scale of like, kirkwall and og redcliffe and haven

#i honestly adore the journal entries you can pick up from villagers who have left or died #it’s the map with no people but it feels the most lived in yknow #like. i love the parts of the world we see but i also feel like a lot of it is redundant?? #exalted plains overlap with emerald graves. western approach overlaps with the hissing wastes #do not get me started on emprise du lion. labyrinthine skyrim knockoff #it’s just. focusing on the aspects that i feel like people don’t care as much about lmao #5 interrupted minutes of sand just for the chance to hint at interesting lore that is just. there #and they do nothing with #(fairels tomb haunts me) #but also like. the first two or three times i played i never found widris so it still feels like the same level of Hidden. to me #and that quest is actually. relevant to the themes of the rest of the game?? #idk the whole thing definitely feels like it’s the first level they made when they were still on the fumes of the first two games #and imo it’s better for that #mine

my top bit of advice going into the new year: compliment people. especially strangers. literally everyone you interact with if you can. when you buy coffee in the morning compliment the barista's tattoos. when you're chatting with a coworker tell them that by the way you like their outfit. always find something they've chosen to do on purpose. nail polish, jewellery, tattoos, hair colour/style, statement accessory, outfit, etc are all good bets. things people hope will be noticed. things that aren't too personal so it doesn't make them uncomfortable (eg probably not their physical features). i've gotten into the habit of scanning everyone i talk to for something about them that i think is cool so i can tell them. it's a great habit because it makes me notice people and realise just how many neat little details there are in people's presentation of themselves that might pass me by if i wasn't paying attention. and it brings out so much joy. you'd be surprised how much it disarms people to receive an unexpected compliment from someone they don't know. it is the most sincere smile you will see all day long. it feels nice to make people happy but it also means you win the social interaction. establish dominance by complimenting a stranger's earrings and disappearing into the fog

#rookposting #the little 'oh!' followed by a big grin is now my highlight in every interaction i have with a stranger #you can always spot the things people hope will be noticed and you have no idea how happy it makes people when it gets noticed #i find it's always better to compliment things they did deliberately vs complimenting stuff like their voice or their face or other things #that are inherent or they cant change because that can make people uncomfortable for one thing to hear that from a stranger #but it's also just less meaningful imo because they didnt do that on purpose

yall.... maybe this is a lukewarm take but Gabe is still 100% an abusive asshole in the tv series... he very clearly is negligent of Percy (and just generally Mean to him because nobody should ever talk to a 12 year old like that)... he doesn't really care about Sally's consent and ownership of her stuff and her time... he may not snap on screen but he shows signs of being able to and the way Sally has to speak to him does not indicate he's just some Guy now... just, abuse takes on many forms and being more implied about it is a much stronger choice for this series in many ways

im removing the mayoi (frogs in caves) bc i dont like how satori and its aesthetic was turned from something mysterious and otherwordly to yet another collectable-

so im turnign the frog idea into a single thing living in the underground as a counterpart to satori itself- perhaps it resides in a giant tree growing from the ceiling bc i ASLO didnt like how there was that at first cool looking underground tree with all the rumis (rabbit things) but then it was quite literally nothing (again)

this idea is pretty new so i am still working on the details, im all ears for suggestions :P
