THEY'RE SO SILLY
The baker and the chameleon...sobbing...
Nah, but I've been meaning to write this for a while. I haven't done much for the spouses of the mama Isa au. Actually, if y'all have any ideas for the spouses (or parents) let me know because I really need to do more for them and do more info on them
ANYWAYYYYYY YEAH <3333 Camilo finally built up enough courage and planned for weeks for this day lmao. They're so ψ(`∇´)ψ
LES GET IT
-----
Camilo fiddled with the small box in his pocket. He did his best to prevent himself from transforming into anyone else. Though, he knew Cereza would recognize him anyway. She always saw through his Gift, and always recognized him. No matter who he was. He didn't know how, maybe by some magic, but she always saw just...him.
He looked around. Waiting. Searching for her. He knew his family was somewhere nearby, watching him, waiting to watch him pop the question to her. Of course he didn't mind, it put him at ease that they were there for him, to support him. He loved his family more than anything, and he wanted Cereza to be apart of that.
Camilo reached in his pocket, opening up the small black box. He opened it carefully, looking inside of at the ring. His sister-- Luisa's husband, Oriano, had made it. Camilo asked after seeing the rings he made for Isabela and her husband and later Luisa and himself. Camilo was so excited when Oriano accepted, and he was even more happy when he had gotten the ring a couple weeks prior to this day.
His fingers traced the small etchings on the gold ring. It was the first letter of Cereza's name and Camilo's, 2 C's intertwined, along with the day they met. Camilo had a second ring on standby, in the hopes that she said yes. It had taken him weeks to get her ring measurement, because Cereza didn't wear much jewelry, especially on her hands. Mostly due to the fact that she was a baker, of course. Another thing he loved about her.
He fiddled with the box. He was half tempted to go inside Casita and ask his tía Lola when Cereza was coming. Of course, he knew she would come, she always did. But that didn't make him any less nervous.
He was terrified, actually.
He and Cereza had actually talked about getting married. And he genuinely wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. But he couldn't help but go through the hundreds of different scenarios. Scenarios of the best and worst case scenario. He wanted the best case scenario. For her to say yes, and they happily get married and she join the Madrigal family officially. He already had his mamá, Isabela's blessing, and the blessing of Cereza's father.
"Camilo?" Camilo jumped, shoving the box into his pocket and turning around. He was so distracted he didn't even notice Cereza had walked up behind him.
"Cereza!" He said, a awkward smile on his face. "You're here!"
"Yeah, sorry I'm late. We had a really big work order and it took forever for us to clean up," Cereza explained, shrugging. "So what's up? How come you called me here? Not that I mind."
Camilo glanced towards Casita, where he knew the family was waiting. His hands felt sweaty, is this what Mirabel's hands were like? He pulled on the fringes of his poncho, taking a deep breath.
"There is...something I wanna talk about," Camilo said, his face growing serious. Cereza faltered, her eyebrows furrowing. Camilo rarely pulled a serious face, so it was clearly something important.
"W-Well what is it?" She asked, her chest tightening. She couldn't helo but feel scared. She hoped Camilo wasn't going to say what she thought he was. Not after all this time. They had something special.
Camilo closed his eyes, taking another deep breath before grabbing Cereza's hands.
"Cereza, you know I love you," Camilo said.
Cereza laughed nervously. "O-Of course. I love you too."
Camilo looked down before meeting her eyes again. "No, Cereza, I really do love you. A lot. Ever since I met you and you agreed to go on the date with me. And...you've stuck around for the past 2 years. A-And I really do appreciate it and I love you for it," Camilo felt tears well up in his eyes but he continued. "You are one of most kind and caring people I know. And you know I care about my family more than anything."
Camilo pulled away, albiet reluctantly, and reached into his pocket. Cereza's eyes widened as it slowly dawned on her what was happening. It also explained why her mother was so adamant on her cleaning up before going to see Camilo and why her papá let her leave earlier.
"Camilo...?" Cereza felt tears well up in her eyes, and her nose burned, but she was anything but sad. She couldn't be more happy. "What are you doing?" She asked, half laughing in disbelief and joy.
"Cereza. You are one of the most important people in my life. You are one of, if not the best thing to happen to me since we moved here and I met you," Camilo said gently. His hands were trembling as he got on his knee, opening the box and revealing the ring, which shined in the setting sun. "Cereza Castro, will you marry me?"
Cereza had tears pouring out if her eyes. She didn't say anything, couldn't, her breath caught in her throat. She stared at Camilo, who furrowed his eyebrows. Cereza, not wanting him to get the wrong idea, threw himself into her arms. She basically tackled him to the ground, finally finding her voice.
"Yes, yes!" Cereza exclaimed, smotheeing Camilo in kisses. "I will marry you Camilo Madrigal!"
Camilo looked shocked, but quickly laughed, hugging her back. He carefully put the ring on her finger and kissed her. The two stood, and it didn't take long for the rest of the family to come out, congratulating them. Cereza was surprised to see her family there too. She had found it strange how only her parents were at the bakery and left almost immediately after she did, but seeing her siblings so happy for her made her so happy.
Camilo and Cereza were brought inside, where a party had been set up. It was a surprise to Cereza and Camilo, because initially, Camilo thought it was a small gathering and Cereza didn't even know. But they didn't care.
Cereza was immediately pulled into a hug by her parents, and her siblings bombarded her with questions about the now upcoming wedding. Camilo watched her with a soft smile.
"You just got engaged and your already oogling her," Mirabel said, holding her infant daughter in her arms. Camilo stuck his tongue out at her. But his younger sister was right.
"Yeah ok. Like you didn't do the same with Vasco," Camilo said teasingly, shifting into her husband before he quickly shifted back, and she rolled her eyes playfully.
Both Luisa and Mirabel and their respective husband, and even Antonio, were teasing Camilo, but the four were quickly shooed away by Pepa and Félix. Pepa had tears in her eyes and Félix looked proud.
"Ay, mi nieto," Pepa said, pressing a kiss onto Camilo's forehead.
"Abuela," Camilo whined, and Félix shooed away her cloud.
"We're proud of you Camilo," Félix smiled amd Camilo returned it, he felt proud too. He had been so excited but so scared. But he knew that Cereza was the one for him, and he couldn't be more happy that they were going to be married.
Pepa and Félix walked off, joining the rest of the party and Cereza joined him again, leaning in his arm. Camilo kissed her head, holding her hand tightly. He could feel tge ring on her finger and he looked down at her. It felt so surreal. He had proposed to his now fiancee, and they were going ti be married. It was like a dream. A dream he never wanted to wake up from.
Camilo's gaze was pulled away when he saw his mamá, Isabela, and her husband, his papá, Canelo, walking over. Isabela handed Isabela a bouquet of flowers, and hugged the woman tightly.
"I can't wait for you to be my daughter," Isabela said and Cereza smiled up at Isabela. Isabela fawned and fussed over Cereza while Canelo congratulated Camilo and praised him. The matriarch finally turned to Camilo, with tears in her eyes.
"You have to promise to take care of her, ok?" Isabela said, and Camilo nodded. "And take care of my grandbabies if you have any."
"I will. Just like you mamá," Camilo whispered, and Isavela felt tears fall. Small flowers sprouted in her braid, and she peppered Camilo's face with kisses before she reluctantly pulled away, being led away by Canelo back to the party.
Camilo held Cereza close, holding her hand in his. As the two joined the rest of the families in party, Camilo hoped that this dream would never end.

For @jacarandaaaas, based on the premise of “Julieta cooking with her daughters as a bonding exercise.”
Post rebuild, Julieta encourages her three girls to make arepas with her. Somewhere along the way it becomes a competition and chaos ensues. But she still loves them.
My Cooking Skills (do not run in the family)
“What? No!” Luisa jumped, already moving to block the doorway. “You aren’t coming in my kitchen, demon!”
Isabela snickered. Luisa getting way too aggressive in the kitchen was always amusing. She pushed at a bicep, with no success. “Come on, stand aside, sis. Papa said Mama wants to see me in here.”
“That’s weird, he said the same thing to me.” Luisa mumbled to herself. “I’m not falling for it.”
“Luisa, you don’t own the fucking kitchen.”
“Yeah, well, you’re a—”
“Oh, hi hermanas,” came Mirabel’s voice, having appeared just behind Isabela. She wasn’t paying too much attention to what they were doing, which explained why they hadn’t been immediately lectured for it. She was somehow walking while also keeping her attention on her embroidery ring. “Does Mama want to speak with you both, too?”
“Yep. But try telling chef Luisa that.”
“I’m not letting you in my kitchen, every time I do you ruin what I’m cooking.” Luisa snapped, crossing her arms. “Wait, so Mama does actually want to speak with all of us? Isabela wasn’t just lying?”
Isabela swat a handful of petals at her. “I’m starting to hope she doesn’t, just so I can annoy you.”
Luisa glared at her, Isabela happily glared back. She had missed this. Their little, petty rivalries from when they were younger.
Finally, their mother stepped over, tying up her apron. She smiled at her girls before realising that Isabela and Luisa were engaged in a staring contest. She cleared her throat, unceremoniously.
“Ha! You blinked, I won!” Isabela exclaimed.
“Luisa, let your sisters in.” Julieta called.
Luisa spluttered. “But Bela—”
“Is going to behave herself in the kitchen. Aren’t you, Isabelita?” She stopped her eldest as she passed Luisa, giving her a pointed look. Isabela mocked a look of offence before agreeing, though she did stick her tongue out at Luisa before taking a seat on the counter. “Why do I think I’ve called you three here today?”
“To tell us that you love us?” Isabela suggested, half-joking.
At the same time, Luisa winced, scratching the back of her head nervously. “To tell Isabela and I off for stealing a bottle of wine for our sleepover with Dolores last weekend.”
“I do love you, but that is not what I—” their mother stopped for a minute. They could almost see her hair getting greyer. “You three did what?”
“It was Isabela’s fault. She stole it.” Luisa accused.
“It was Dolores’ idea.” Isabela added.
She let out a heavy sigh, “We’ll talk about that with your cousin and Tía later. But, for now, I’ve brought you three in here to do some cooking with me.”
The idea was not met with much or any enthusiasm from the girls. Isabela rolled her eyes before suddenly smirking with mischief; Luisa initially lit up before realising what exactly it meant and deflated. Julieta was prepared for what drama it would be like having those two in the kitchen together.
The last time they had was when Isabela was six and Luisa was four, just after Mirabel’s birth. She had been hoping to spend some nice quality time with her daughters, so they didn’t feel too replaced with attention by the new baby. And it ended with a massive food fight, some inedible and flora filled obleas, and the pair of them being grounded for biting each other. A few months ago, she would have confidently said that they wouldn’t be like that now. Now? She wasn’t as confident and seriously doubted her judgement.
“That’s just great, Mama. Luisa was just telling me how much she loves it when I help her in the kitchen, weren’t you, sis?” Isabela prompted. Trying her best to lean on her taller sister.
“I will feed your cacti to a donkey.” Luisa said through gritted teeth, but kept the smile for her mother and nodded her head like she agreed. “Thank you, Mama, for this wonderful afternoon. I can’t wait to get started and cook with my two lovely sisters. Can I just ask, why are you making us do this?”
She chuckled, “Well, I just thought it would be nice for us to spend some together. And that some of us could put the embroidery down and socialise for a change.”
Her change in tone did have the wanted effect as Mirabel did look up from the bird she was sewing, glancing at the three of them in turn.
“I’m listening,” the girl insisted before immediately going back to her needle.
“Wrong move, little sis.” Isabela whispered under her breath. Just loud enough for Luisa, who found herself swallowing nervously, to give a hum of agreement.
Mirabel yelped when Julieta tore the thing from her hand. “You can have it back when we are finished,” their mother stated. She set on a shelf, well out of Mirabel’s reach, before directing her to go stand alongside her sisters. She walked off to go get aprons for the three before Mirabel could start her usual concerns about the risk of her embroidery getting ruined.
“Wait, what are we doing?” Mirabel asked her sisters.
“I don’t know, Mirabel, we’re in the kitchen. What do you think we’re doing? I think we’re gonna go swimming!” Isabela retorted.
“I know that, but what are we cooking is what I meant?” Mirabel corrected, huffing a little at Isabela’s childishness. She turned to Luisa, but she only offered her a shrug.
Julieta returned, tossing an apron to each of her girls. Isabela and Luisa both went for the same one and then squabbled about it for the next two minutes - it was Luisa’s usual apron, for she often helped Julieta in the kitchen, but Isabela was clearly just looking to stir the pot of Luisa’s baking anger. Finally, work done, she gave in and let Luisa have it, taking the remaining apron.
She didn’t attempt to let the three try agree on a recipe; she was well aware how that would go. So she herself chose to make arepas. It was something that they could all do. Luisa is just a good a cook as she was herself and would find it no bother, which meant she could potentially help one of her sisters while Julieta helped the other. Mirabel could cook, she was just very slow and pedantic - and couldn’t bring herself to deviate from instructions, ensuring everything looked picture perfect to the recipe book. And Isabela? Well… she was never allowed in the kitchen, so today would be interesting.
“Now, this isn’t a competition, so you can all take your time.” Julieta reminded.
Luisa nodded. “That’s fine. We all know mine are the best.”
“It’s going to be mine. Mine will win.” Isabela argued. She looked down at Luisa’s bowl. “Yours… I don’t even know what I’m looking at.”
“It’s the exact same as yours! Just a bowl full of corn meal and water!”
“You remember when Antonio was a baby and he was sick on Tío Félix’s shoulder that one time at dinner? Yeah, that’s what yours looks like.”
“Well, you’re not gonna have anything left if you keeping mixing it so hard. Stop splashing me!”
“You’re just jealous that I’m the fastest here.” Isabela scoffed. “I mean, look at Mirabel. Her bowl’s still empty.”
Mirabel clicked her tongue. “Unlike you two, I am following a recipe book and measuring out my ingredients. We are just cooking. It’s not a competition. And, even if it were, the taking part and having fun is what counts.”
“That’s what losers say.” Isabela and Luisa both muttered coincidentally. They both shared a high five before going back to mixing.
“Ay, don’t bully your sister.” Julieta said. “But Mirabel, you’ve measured the corn meal out several times now. It’s not going to have changed, mi amor, you can add it into your bowl.”
“But I’m not sure it is—”
“It is, Mirabel. I’ve told you twice.”
“Even if it isn’t, you can just add it, hermanita. It doesn’t matter.” Luisa piped up.
“It does matter! Everything in life matters.” Mirabel countered, as though Luisa saying that had shattered her entire world. She continued to mutter to herself as she began measuring again, just to be sure. “Even the smallest things matter. Every step, every word, every stitch, every grain—”
Isabela interrupted. “You’re still like seven small steps behind us, sis.”
Before anybody could say anything more, Isabela dumped her clump of dough onto the countertop with an audible splat.
“Okay, there’s no way that’s done.” Julieta chided.
“Look how wet it is— keep it on your side of the fucking counter!” Luisa demanded, shoving it aside, trying to shield her dough from any drops from Isabela’s tainted dough.
“It doesn’t really matter,” Isabela continued. “It’ll dry when it’s cooking.”
As they both began to shape their dough, nobody noticed the vines picking up the relatively empty jug of water and pouring it on Luisa. Most of it went her head, but a few drops landed on the counter, brushing against her dough.
“You look a little wet, Lulu.”
“Fuck you, Bela!”
“You wanna take this outside, brawn?”
“I will rip your arm out of its socket and then let’s see you try grow shit.”
“Luisa, Isabela! Behave yourselves. You aren’t children.” Julieta stared them down for a long minute, shaking her head. “No me importa la edad que tengas, igual te regañaré.”
Isabela and Luisa progressed in a very similar fashion. Occasional bickering and bragging about who was doing better, but they were getting through it a relatively decent pace. Julieta couldn’t tell whether or not Luisa was enjoying Isabela’s company, she seemed to flick from happily laughing or playing along to threatening Isabela with a rolling pin.
Julieta had taken the time to prepare various fillings for the girls, most of it had just been left overs from over the last few days.
“You’re doing shit, Bela.” Luisa chuckled to herself.
Julieta came over and corrected her daughter. “Just try doing it a little bit gentler. See? That’s much better.” She cast a glance at Luisa, who didn’t need help. “Don’t insult your sister. It is important to help and encourage people while they are cooking, you wouldn’t want to get in their head and make them think that they can’t cook.”
“Yeah, especially when they’re beside someone who is doing really well.” Luisa snarked, proudly.
Isabela poked a finger at one of Luisa’s arepas on the stove top, earning a disgruntled cry from her sister as she hurried to fix it. She, meanwhile, presented her final completed arepa to her mother.
Julieta blinked at the arepa. “Um, that isn’t—”
“I shaped mine into cacti.” Isabela explained.
“Isabela’s trying to go for the creative points because she can’t win on anything else.” Luisa cackled.
“Bitch, I will shove yours off the stove to the floor.”
Their mother quickly intervened stepping between the two. “No, nobody is touching the stove top. Isabela, here, let me show you how to cook them.”
“What do you mean how?” She asked. “I leave them and come back in an hour to eat them.”
Luisa burst out laughing. “If you want to burn them, then sure.”
“This is why you are meant to follow the instructions,” Mirabel’s voice rang, smug as anything.
“Sis, you have only just made it on to step four. You’re not better than me at anything—”
“I’m on step three, actually… which I am realising is not much better. Give me twenty minutes to think of a better comeback.”
“No, arepas don’t take that long. And you have to flip them, Isabela. You can’t leave them.” Julieta went on to explain. She managed to convince Luisa to step aside for a moment, so she could show Isabela what she needed to do.
The next few minutes had passed without anything of note. Isabela stopped mucking around long enough to at least attempt flipping her arepas. Luisa decided she was going to make a topping from scratch, just to show off her culinary skills. And Mirabel was slowly catching up to her sisters.
The enticing smell coming from the kitchen later prompted Agustín to come check how his girls were doing. Only to find them not in the kitchen and cooking like he expected. Isabela and Luisa were giggling in the dining room over three plates of (very different looking) arepas that Julieta had set down. Mirabel was cleaning dishes in the kitchen.
“Something smells good,” he commented.
“We’ve been cooking, Papí,” Luisa explained, happily learning back for a kiss on her forehead as he hugged her.
“You should try them. Tell us which one’s the best.” Isabela went on to add. While he stopped to give her a kiss in their embrace, she then whispered, “It’s going to be mine, but let’s not destroy Luisa’s ego too quickly. She’s very fragile.”
He chuckled before kissing Julieta on the lips. “No disasters this time?” He asked.
“Nothing I couldn’t handle,” she teased. “I’ll go get Mirabel.”
He settled into a seat on the other side of Isabela. “You two didn’t leave your little sister to clean your mess alone, did you?”
“She wanted to do it.” Isabela shrugged.
“We were kicked out for splashing each other again.” Luisa answered honestly.
Mirabel went for the chair the other side of Luisa, seeing as Julieta had taken the one on Agustín’s other side. But not before he gave her a quick pat on the hand - she wasn’t as physically affectionate as the other two, especially after getting caught in a collapsing building.
“Can you guess whose is whose?” Luisa inquired, gesturing to the three plates.
The plates weren’t their usual signature ones, instead just plain and white. Each with five arepas. The one on his left had them all set with a good helping of fried chorizo, some vegetables and spices. The middle were just set on the plate, off-shape and cooked to various levels, piled high with leftovers. The one on his right were all neatly aligned against one another, perfectly coloured and symmetrical, sprinkled with a few herbs and some small flowers as a garnish.
“Yours is the left - I’ve seen it on my breakfast plate before. Middle is Isa’s because she made it as different as humanly possible. Right is Mirabel’s because it looks like it came out of a fancy painting or something. She definitely wins for presentation.”
“Well, nobody told me to plate it like that!” Isabela slumped back into her chair.
Mirabel hummed, “I don’t have many skills, but I can make things look good. I wasn’t adventurous at all with mine, but I like my arepa con quesos plain. I’ll take the win; people do say you eat with your eyes.”
“Congratulations, Mira. You make a very pretty meal.” Luisa praised. “But the real factor is how good it tastes, so it doesn’t actually mean anything.”
“…When did you become so competitive?”
“Back when you were still twelve steps behind, keep up.”
The tasting of the dishes had gone as anyone would expect: Mirabel’s being good, simple and plain; Isabela’s being hardly edible but they got a good laugh out of it; Luisa’s were obviously the best of the lot and she bragged indefinitely about the win. Though it was later admitted that Luisa and Isabela had both tempered with each other’s arepas, so who could really say was the winner?
“So, what are you going to make next?”
“I think we’re done with cooking,” Julieta said. “Why don’t you take them to try one of your hobbies, mi vida?”
“Um, yes?” Isabela exclaimed, standing up. “I’d be so good with an axe.”
Luisa scoffed, leaning over to Mirabel. “How long do you think it would take for her to accidentally chop a finger off?”
“Who says that Pa will make us do carpentry anyways? He might have us do something more musical.” Mirabel challenged. “Which would be an instant win for me as you two can’t read sheet music or play instruments.”
As the three girls descended into playful bickering, Agustín pulled Julieta in for a hug.
“I love our girls.”
“I do, too.”

saw you were taking encanto requests so i wanted to pitch in and ask for something that includes all the grandkids, who decide to kidnap adopt a girl just a few months younger than camilo and mirabel. they do this upon learning that her family is neglectful and she’s never known love. so they treat her like a beloved little sister, perhaps living out their fantasies of having a sweet baby sis.
YANDERE MADRIGAL FAMILY X READER
I’m sorry this is so late- literally forgot to post it💀
Tumblr media
It was Antonio’s door ceremony , the village was lively with color, flowers bloomed at every green patch of grass, the members of la familia madrigal could be seen happily buzzing around the village, happy to accept any congraduations from the citizens. You were stuck in the shop all day, selling old items from way before you were born. Your parents of course, we’re off celebrating the new induction to the small boy named Antonio, leaving you to deal with everything, yet again.
You knew you should be happy, today marks a new day of flourishment for the village, but you just can’t seem to swipe that scoul from your features. Sure, you’d made very good friends with the madrigals, they were your best customers, Luisa often came in your shop to speak with you, Camilo would disguise himself every time, but you always knew it was him, and Isabela… she thought this place was too dirty, so she had taken you on somewhat of a date to the flower fields. Abuela had come in once or twice, didn’t buy anything, but spoke with you for a brief few minutes. The madrigal family was lived across the board, they were the reason that you were even alive today, but still, you couldn’t be happy for them. It was selfish. But it was true.
They were lively people, and they treated you like a a little sister or a daughter, but everytime you go to one of these ceremonies, every time you see mirabel and her mama in the plaza, you are just reminded of everything you’re missing in life. They have love, they are close knit. Someone would know if they go missing, or if they are found hung from the ceiling, someone will care for them. They know that no one will just forget them and go on with their lives. It always just sparked endless jealousy in you whenever you saw them smiling together, laughing together. And then they unknowingly rub it in by inviting you to their family dinners, by having sleepovers in Isabella’s room, or being hugged by Luisa. It was like they were just trying to prove how much you didn’t fit in.
You wish you had an Abuela that cared about your family, or a mama who would hold you close and comfort you when upset, or a papa who bragged about your accomplishments to others.
Especially now, as you stood in the crowd of people, watching at the golden family ascended the stairs of la casita. everyone around was cheerful, wearing the best of their best outfits, dancing and singing, just awaiting the reveal of Antonio’s room. You were a stark contrast to the general tone of the room, you had hoped that tonight maybe your parents would spend time with you, but they left yoh in a corner the second they left. You know, it’s sad and stupid to be mopey for no reason, but you couldn’t help but set a sad mood. It showed through your features too, a sad scowl and droopy eyes displayed on your face, you didn’t talk to anyone. Not even Isabella when she tried to feed you some of the arepas from the snacks. You didn’t realize that the entire madrigal family was solely focused on you, even Antonio was worried. Why were you sad? A fiesta is meant for smiles and flowers and madrigal weirdness, not a sad child longing for attention.
While in your daze, longingly staring at the family, you failed to notice the putter patter of la casita trying to speak, that was until it tapped at your foot. The tiles under your two feet moved around, fluttering and twisting until you snapped out of whatever trance you were in. You tilted your head down with a sorrowful smile at the times, which had now rearranged themselves into a smiley face.
“Hi, casita.” You said no more words than that, and it seemed to understand, leaving you along for a few seconds, before scuffling back with one of the pretty red roses isabela had grown. Of course la casita thought it would help you, being a smile yo your face, but instead it just furthered your sorrow, oh great! Isabel’s flowers that you would never be able to grow even if you had a green thumb! Wonderful! Your frown deepened.
“I really just- I don’t want to do this right now. Can I be alone. Please” you talked to the floor like a madwoman, but the tiles hook left to right, almost as if to say no. You let out a sigh, and continued to drone out the rest of the world, now solely focusing on the tiles, and the house that oh so desperately wants to make our happy. So it left, again, just for a few seconds. Only to come back again, this time in the shape of an arrow, pointing towards the set of stairs behind a wall, almost hidden.
“Oh? What? Do you want me to follow?” The tiles shooks up and down, and your questioned it for a solid moment, looking back at the family and the party, it probably wasn’t respectful to just run around someone’s house, before remembering that this is why you’re sad “oh damn it all, what have I got to lose?” You huffed, and followed the arrow.
You remained silent at the rest of the travel through the home, step by step, la casita placed pillows behind you as if it expected you to fall, you didn’t notice of course, too focused on how the tiles seemed to glow more and more as you followed them. You walked up and up and up until you reached the top, and heaved yourself past the hallway too. You’d never seen this part of the house, maybe they just kept it hidden from everyone else. But it was beautiful, flowers were painted along the borders of the walls, and vines hung from the ceiling with roses and lights attached to them, you smiled at the sight. How pretty. La casita seemed happy at the soft upturn of your lips, yet it wasn’t done. It shook the wall in front of you, sending the wood creaking and squeaking. Your brows furrowed at the sight, is this all it wanted to lead you to? A wall?
You pressed your hand flat against the wall, softly huffing, all at once you seemed to remeber that sorrow, that anger at your own parents, yoh were just trying to distract with stupid games with some stupid house, a stupid house that you’d stared at every time you passed, a stupid house that you lingered by, a house that was filled with curiosity and joy, but now just felt sorrowful. You placed your forehead against the wAll, closing your eyes and attempting to stop yourself from letting your tears run free. Yet one still rolled down your cheek.
“Y/n! I was wondering when this would happen.” You heard a voice behind you speak up, but you didn’t move, too flustered to care that someone was experience you crying. After a few seconds you could recognize that voice as Camilla, gone was that playful tone, he seemed utterly worried, you could hear it in how worry and frantic ness was laced in his tone. When you had finally pried your eyes open, finally reigned your emotions in enough to not start sobbing, you were met with a shocking sight
A glowing door in place of the wall, reading “y/‘ madrigal”.
“C-Camilo? What?” You questioned, backing o from the door the second you spotted it, you did nothing but hit Camilla chest, and he gripped your shoulder, keeping you in place and pushing you towards it.
“It’s okay- it’s okay. Just open it” he gushed, shoving you forward gently until you stumbled to the door, your initials were engraved on the doorknob. It was pretty, but it didn’t feel real. Why would this be happening, maybe this is a dream. You stared at the door skeptically, and reached your hand out, skeptically, but before you did anything (also skeptically) your attention was drawn to a voice.
“But today isn’t just a day for antoñio, we have someone special, someone new!” You were able to recognized the voice as Abuelas, seconds after the announcement, there was a bright spotlight on you, and you brought your hand away from the door to shield your eyes.
“Dear y/n has been bruised, neglected, and hated for all of her life. Pobre pequeña Bebe. We’re giving her a new life! A new chance to be loved!” Abuela announced and splayed her arms out, her demanding voice sparked motivation in the eyes of the citizens. They all stared at you in pure awe for a few moments, then the crowd erupted in cheers, screaming for you. It’s not like it wasn’t obvious how miserable you were, they see Bruno more than you, and they don’t even talk about him!
Now you were utterly confused, if you refused this, and went down the stairs, then you would be either seen as 1. A coward, or 2. A sign of bad luck on the village, it would weaken the magic. But if you said yes, then… we’ll you don’t know what’s gonna happen. The cheers of the drunken adults and hyper children VILLE dyour head, and you did nothing but freeze. It wasn’t until a warm hand pressed on your shoulder that you snapped out of it, you spun around to meet the living gaze of mirabel and Camilo, along with Luisa. They stared at you for a few good long moments before Luisa spoke up.
“Open the door, la casita is never wrong, it knows what you want cariña, just open it” she softly spoke, which was odd because there was nothing soft about this woman. She looked her hands under your arms and placed you back in front of the door, which you continued to stare at. Her hand rested at the small of your back, almost threatening that it would help you open it if you didn’t do it yourself.
So, yoh reluctantly raised your hand to the doorknob, and twisted it. The second you did the door swung open completely. Revealing… a room. Your room. Well, your NEW room. It was calm, peaceful, it somehow appeared to have no curling, like the cielimg was the night sky full of stars. Bells hung from nonexistent hooks and they jungles as cool wind blew by. A bed was centered in the middle of the room, huge and white, with small stuffed animals scattered about.
The cheers behind the door became louder for a moment, but were completely shut out when the three young teens came into the room behind her. You flew around to meet their gazes, about to be extremely angry with them, but… isn’t this what you had wanted in the end? To be part of the family, to get rid of your jealousy?
“I-I don’t understand”
“It’s okay honey- you don’t have to understand, just let us take care of you, let us give you the love you never got” Luisa smiled and picked you up gently, for someone so broad and menacing her touch sure is comforting. You weren’t that much younger than her really, although you were the same age as mirabel, it felt odd to be called “honey”, either because it was coming from her, or you’d never felt that before.
“This… is crazy. Absolutely loca” you huffed out, more to yourself than anyone elsestaring around at the peaceful room. Mirabel couldn’t help but smile at your amazement, she couldn’t blame you for being so cute, but sometimes it distracted her. You were absolutely adorable. She made her way around to you while the other two stared at you with love, pulling you towards the bed, and closer to her, she remarked:
“You know, I’ve always wanted a baby sister, I’m the youngest so it’s only natural. This is so amazing! I finally get to have you!” She smiled and tugged you close, wrapping her arms fully around you, and pulling your head into her chest. You stiffened at the touch, unsure what to do with your own hands. Do you hug back or stand still? Or do you wrap your arms around too? What do you do what do you do what do you do what do you do.
“It’s okay. Those terrible parents of yours never taught you how to be lived, but you’ll get used to it. Just let yourself relax cariña, we’ll take care of the rest. No one will bother you while you’re here” Camilo remarked, now at mirabels side, he stroked your head and grabbed one of your hands to wrap around the girls waist. at the mention of your parents you perked up, in the midst of all this chaos you’d forgotten about them! Holy crap they totally saw you being admitted or whatever into this family! Oh they’re gonna be so pissed with you.
“I’m sorry camilo. B-But I can’t stay here, I can’t be part of this family. I’m not part of this family. I have parents, and even if they don’t treat me like… like this, I love them” at that their bright smiles dropped, you didn’t even notice it, but it was like a light switch turned off behind their eyes, and now all that was left was a dark, creepy look. Camilo brought his finger to your mouth to shush you, feigning hurt the entire way through.
“Love is only real if it’s mutual. We love you, and we all know you love us. You don’t have to be scared of them anymore. I’ll- we’ll protect you” his finger stayed on your lips as he said this, a menacing smile plastered across his face. Somethings wrong here. You just couldn’t place what. Of course they knew that your parents probably would be upset that you are part of them now, that is if they were alive, if they weren’t being turned into mush by isabelas flowers at the moment.
“I know but- I just have to work and they’ll be mad if I can’t an-“
“Hush, you’re too small to work, just let us all take care of you. The village doesn’t have any objections, they love you as much as we do. Just let us have you okay? Well keep you safe! Well love you” mirabel piped in, now taking her own turn in shushing your, it was quite odd how she called you little, when in reality you were only a few months younger than her, and maybe a few inches shorter. Huh. Weird.
“But-“
“I said stop. You aren’t going back. They’re gone, they left the second you became one of us, they don’t care” Luisa spoke for the first time again, her words shut you up right away. It made you sink into murabels chest, it made tears cloud up in your eyes as you failed at keeping them in. It made your heart beat faster. Would they- could they even do that to you? Why?
“Oh.” You spoke, and as Luisa stroked your back, Camilo held your hands and kissed them, and mirabel hugged you, all on top of a big fluffy bed. All of your tears and pain seeped out, and you cried into them. All of the sadness built up over the years of neglect, of never feeling enough, of jealousy, all that rage channeled at your biological family for never even trying to be good. It flowed freely out of your body in the form of tears, Luisa held you close as you cried, completely unbothered. Sympathy showed on all three of their faces. Yet they kept checking at the door, maybe for Abuela, or one of the parents.
They didn’t mind sitting like this, sitting with you, for a while though. It was nice to comfort you.
After all
You are their true baby sister

Place your trust in me, you have no one else
Luisa knows that she had to count only on herself. It was better than trusting anyone. They would leave her anyway, just like how they left Mirabel.
Luisa was really young when she learned that she was the only person she could count on. Coming with the need to be a parent, she did realize that adults wouldn't help if there was something bad. It was a harsh reality. but she couldn't trust anyone fully. The first part of survival was independence and Luisa learned that from her primary age.
It wasn't like somebody would do it intentionally, betray her, push them into the cold dusty ground, but it still could happen. Was the reason that mattered? Luisa didn't think so. She taught herself to run from her school responsibilities, which she was doing pretty sloppily, to Mirabel, also trying to push some time to work in between. Physical strength gave her enough advantage, but it didn't change the fact that it was hard. She couldn't place her trust fully in anyone. It was just the way things were, she had to always count on herself to ensure their safety.
And Mirabel needed someone to look after her, someone strong and mature. Luisa would be the one to take care of her if she needed to. After all, she was practically an adult. All costs to stay strong and independent for Mirabel. She was the only person her girl had, and she had to take care of her.
-
Maybe she could trust them, just a little.
As time passed, grown-ups seemed to be a bit more eager to look out for Mira and spend time with her. Luisa still prefers to be around, what if her hijita would be hungry or just wanted her around? But she notices the changes. Mirabel gets to interact with other family members.
They didn't spend a lot of time with her even now, but Luisa couldn't really blame adults in this account. Mirabel looked so much like Julieta that it was painful. But it was better than before.
Maybe things weren't that bad after all.
-
She shouldn't have.
Mirabel's ceremony was a disaster. She didn't get a gift and the entire room immediately got filled with tensed worry and scaped gossipping. Not only that, but Bruno disappeared by the next morning arrived.
It's even worse than it had been before. Not one, but two triplets had disappeared now, and both occasions were related to Mirabel in some way. Tia Pepa was mad as hell, she was one of the people who liked Mirabel the least even before, but now it was something worse, an evident hate in her eyes each time she looked at Mirabel. Not only Julieta had passed away, giving birth to her, but Bruno also disappeared on the day she didn't get a gift. Camilo, an extreme Mama's boy, followed Pepa, now ignoring Mirabel or even being childly cruel to her. Felix was better, but he stayed close to Pepa and ignored Mirabel. Dolores seemed to be the only one who didn't dislike her cousin.
Luisa's own side of the family wasn't much better. Agustin... well, he tried. But with how much Mirabel looked like Julieta it was hard to interact with her. When he spent too much time with her, he returned to the state he had for more than a year after his wife's death. When Luisa had to bring food for him or force him to take a shower (which usually meant locking him in a bathroom until he was done), and it didn't help anyone at all. Isabela was even more angry than Pepa. Luisa had noticed how her sister started to hang out with Abuela even more than before and, since their granny seemed to straight up hate Mirabel now, so Isabela, who was already bitter with her, now was extremely angry with her.
It just proved Luisa's point of view, she was the only person Mirabel could count on. If she would be childish, trying to trust others, they would be hurt and betrayed. Being independent was safer, it wouldn't hurt as much if you didn't trust anyone to begin with. She would carry everything alone, she had to. Mirabel needed her, nobody would come to help her(Or they would leave the moment they had a chance). So Luisa needed to help her sister-daughter. It was better if she trusted only to herself. She promised to keep Mirabel safe, no matter the cost. The only people who didn't treat her child except herself were Dolores and Agustin (who still had a hard time being around). But Luisa knew better already. Mirabel was treated normally by everyone once before, just for everything to return to the beginning at the moment they had a chance. Luisa wouldn't trust them again, she couldn't forgive them. And why would she? It would just leave her disappointed in the end.
She promised to protect Mirabel, it wasn't that hard to spin around, taking care of everything herself.

Heyyyyyy I was wondering if you could write an encanto tickle fic? With mirabel as the lee and any lers you like. If you don’t want to do this it’s totally fine it’s all up to you. :) please and thank you
No problem! I’m actually surprised someone would request Encanto considering the fandom is kinda dead but good to see people are still apart of it, including myself! So for this fic, think I’ll be aiming for is julieta and isabela as lers, I hope you like it!
Mirabel and the tickly situation.
The sun shone over Encanto once again as a brand new day began, julieta was one of the first to wake up, although Agustín begged her to stay and cuddle with him, she finally managed to get up and start her day by making breakfast for the family. Pepa soon woke up and began helping her sister.
The breakfast was laid out nicely and neatly on the table, the rest of the family had woken up by now and pepa gave julieta a high five, everyone came in and sat down and began listening to Abuela’s speech about how the village is recently doing well and blah blah blah boring stuff.
Soon breakfast was over and everyone headed out to do their chores, Mirabel however, she didn’t have much to do today so she got pretty bored. Until she had a cheeky idea and grew a mischievous smile, running off like the little troublemaker she is, she went off to find her rowdy and wild older sister isabela.
“Now just a tiny little drop…” *isabela muttered as she was add some substances onto her cactus to see what would happen*
“Hey isa!” *Mirabel popped out of nowhere*
“AH-“ *isabela jumped and accidentally dropped the substance and made the plant not only enormous but also man eating*
“Oops.” *mirabel mumbled*
“Stand back!” *isabela yelled and quickly trapped the plant down with her vines before it could have a chance of eating anyone, she got another type of substance and added a few drops making it change back to normal. She faced her sister with an annoyed glare*
“Alright, what is it now mira? And you’d better have a good reason for nearly getting us killed.” *she spoke in an annoyed tone*
“Well, I just came to spend time with you!” *she smiled and hugged isabela*
“Hm…ugh fine, you win.” *she giggled and hugged her sister*
the two sisters began chatting, Isabela began laughing by Mirabel’s stories but isa seemed to be distracted by something from time to time. Mira sighed because she has been telling Isabela many times to focus.
Mira got an amazing idea, atleast to her. While isabela seemed to be starting at something Mirabel snuck her hand in isa’s neck and gave her a light tickle. Isa jerked away and covered her neck with her shoulder, letting a little “eep!” Sound out.
She looked mirabel dead in the eye.
“What the heck was that for?!” *she giggled and rubbed her neck*
“Focus.” *mirabel teased*
“I suggest you don’t tickle me before you become a giggly mess your self little sister~”
*mira blushes but knew if she backed down now, her sister would take victory so she stayed strong*
Mira: “meh, don’t care.” *she tries to hide her nervousness cuz her sister doesn’t hold back in tickling*
Isabela: “oh really?~” *she teased and began chasing Mira, mirabel had quiet good reflexes so she booked it before Isabela could catch her, leading to a chase*
*mirabel was screaming every time her sister got near her. Out of the blue, julieta walked out and got a bit startled as Mirabel ran into her arms*
Mirabel: “mamí! Pleasehelpme,itickledisabelabecauseshewoudlntfocusandnowshewantstoticklethehelloutofmesopleasesaveme!”
Juleita: “huh?” *she looked I’m at Isabela who just caught up*
*isabela chuckled*
Isabela: “what mirabel is TRYING to say is that “I deserve to get tickled after tickling my beautiful big sissy” *she gave a teasing smirk with an eyebrow raise*
Mirabel: Nu uh! Mamí! I only tickled her because she wouldn’t focus! Mama you know how she is with not focusing!
*jueliat thought for a moment*
Julieta: “I think isabela is right here, considering you did tickle her first.”
Isabela: “yes!”
Mirabel: “no!”
Mirabel: “mamí! No! This is so unfair! Is this because I gave you a small tickle on your side earlier this morning?!”
Julieta: “very much so.” *she quickly turned Mirabel to face Isabela and wrapped her arms around her* “alright isa, get her!”
*isabela smirked and without hesitation, began tickling her baby sister’s stomach, making mirabel blush and earning a yelp out of her*
Mirabel: “hey! Hehehey! Stahhahap! IHIHIT tihihcklehehs!”
Isabela: “I…would hope so…?” *isabela replies in a fake puzzled tone because she found Mirabel’s comment a bit dumb, the whole point is that it’s supposed to tickle*
Julieta: “aww, just some cute sister bonding time, hm?”*juleita’s grip was nice and strong on her daughter, preventing her from fighting back but allowing her to squirm a bit*
Isabela: “aww, tickle tickle tickle mirabel~ your tummy is real soft!”
*mirabel blushed even more as she knocked the grounds with her head shaking, hair flying in her face*
Mirabel: “Ihihim gohonaha kihihill yohohu!!”
*mirabel’s widened as to what she just said while Isabela and julieta create a fake overdramatic gasp*
Julieta: “oh Mirabel?! How dare you say that to your sister?!”
Isabela: “how rude!!”
Mirabel: “no wait!-“
*Mirabel was quickly pinned by her mother to the ground and saw isa coming at her with wiggling fingers*
Mirabel: “NO! nonononononono! No waihihit!!!!”
*Mirabel’s body jolted when she felt her sister’s ticklish fingers assaulting her body*
Isabela: “aww, now why should I wait?~”
Mirabel: “IHIHI wahahsnt reheadhyhy!!!”
Julieta: “too bad, you gotta suffer consequences.”
Mirabel: “hehahaha! Plehahse! Ihihm sohohryhy!!”
*isabela gave her mother a look and both woman shook their head, julieta smirked and held Mirabel’s arms with one hand, she blew a raspberry on Mirabel’s neck as she used her free hand to tickle Mirabel’s armpits*
Mirabel: “AHEHEHEHAH! *squeal* MAHAHAMIHIHI!! *she squirmed and kicked* NOHOHOHOHO!!!!”
*isabela wasn’t much help either, she just decimated Mirabel’s stomach, including the belly button*
Julieta: “nom nom nom! Nom! Mmm! Delicious!” *she kept nibbling Mirabel’s neck, allowing Mirabel to produce so many squeals and snorts*
Isabela: “now I wonder, I gotta check your ribs! Just checking on my wittle sissy!” *she pouted and began “counting” her ribs*
Isabela: “1….2…3…4…5- oh for god sake’s mirable, quit moving and let me count!”
Mirabel: “ahehwhahAHAHAHEHHA! StahahAHAHHAP!”
Julieta: “hmm…no.”
Mirabel: “NOHOHO! IHIHITS SOHOHO BAHAHD!!”
*isabela and julieta slowed their tickling down but still tickled the poor girl*
Mirabel: “pleahahhsee!! Ihihm sohohrrhyhy!!!”
Isabela: “no way, you were gonna kill me! That is such a rude thing to say!”
Mirabel: “Nohoho! IHIT whahas ahaha Johohokehe!”
Julieta: “oh so you can make jokes but we can’t tickle you? Doesn’t seem very fair mija~”
*mirabel couldn’t answer and just kept laughing as her mother had isabela kept tickling her, one squeeze to the side made mirabel yelp, on spider to the armpit makes mirabel squeal- this girl is just ticklish as hell.*
Isabela: “I just love hearing Mirabel’s bubbly laughter, don’t you mama?”
Julieta: “oh I very much do, it’s really adorable!!” *she pouted and nuzzled her nose with Mirabel’s nose, making Mirabel giggle*
*isabela began scribbling on the stomach*
Isabela: “give up?!”
Mirabel: “I GIVE! HAHEHEHAH! IHIH GIHIVEHEH!!”
Julieta: “good.”
*both woman release her, allowing the girl to lower her hands and curl up into a ball panting*
Mirabel: “ughh!! Why?!?!”
Isabela: “because you deserve it you brat!”
Mirabel: “Nu uh!”
Isabela: “yu uh!” *she giggled and pressed her forehead against Mirabel’s forehead, the two were at a giggly “Nu uh” and “yu uh” back and forth banter, julieta just sighed, happy to see how fun her daughters were having*
Isabela: “I’ll tickle you again!”
Mirabel: “NO! Mamí!-“
Julieta: “okay okay okay, instead of continuing these little shenanigans of yours, who wants to help me bake arepas?”
Isabela & mirabel: “ME!”
Isabela: “last one there is a huevo podrido!!”
Mirabel: “hey!!”
*both girls took off into the kitchen, giggling julieta chuckled as she stood up and walked behind, smiling at her two daughters*
Julieta: “Those two…” *she sighed with a chuckle as she shook her head*

When all you want is to sleep comfortably,
A/N: apologies for disappearing for so long but I had a lot to do for college. I'll try to start posting again but I can't make too many promises.
Phases
"Goodnight mi flor," Julieta whispered kissing Isabela's head.
Once julieta left, Isabela tossed and turned in her bed, trying to get comfortable but unfortunately she got wrapped up in her loose nightgown.
She groaned before she sat up and yanked the pink fabric over her head and tossed it to the floor by her bed. As soft as it was it was too loose and kept getting tangled around Isabela. Mere moments after the annoying fabric had landed on the floor the eldest madrigal had fallen into a deep sleep.
Down the hall Dolores was getting ready for bed when her mother came in to check on her and tell her goodnight.
"Mi bebé, I came to say goodnight," Pepa said stepping into Dolores's room.
"Mama?" Dolores said emerging from her closet.
"I'm right here lola, come sit," Pepa said patting the 12 year olds bed.
"can I ask something?" Dolores asked sitting on her bed.
"ask away mi vida," Pepa said
"it's nearly my time, and I was curious about a few things I've been feeling," Dolores said shyly, still unfamiliar with her cycle despite having it for almost a year.
Pepa assured her that having questions was normal and answered them, remembering how she had to go digging for this knowledge on her own.
"Its perfectly normal to get cramps in your thighs from your period, trust me tia Julieta said it herself," Pepa assured tucking her eldest into bed.
"Ok mamá goodnight," Dolores yawned curling into her blankets.
Pepa kissed her niña's head, and closed her door with a light click. Before Dolores truly settled in she peeled the yellow fabric of her nightgown off and then snuggled into her blankets clutching her fluffy owl to her bare chest. The feeling was odd since she had never slept without a nightgown before. Dolores enjoyed the feeling and curled into her blanket and fell asleep within minutes
The next morning Pepa was in charge of waking up the kids. Camilo and Mirabel had a sleepover in Camilo's room so Pepa gave a knock, then stepped in to get the pair woken up and dressed. Once she'd sent them down to Julieta she made her next stop at Luisa's room. She opened the door and gently patted Luisa's hip until said girl had finally opened her eyes, "buenos dias tia," she sleepily mumbled reaching out to hug Pepa.
Luisa was always her favourite to wake, because Luisa loved cuddles in the morning so she could have a moment to spend with her sobrina wrapped up in happy cuddles.
"Buenos dias mi sobrinita, I need to wake the other girls, get dressed and I'll be back to do your hair," Pepa said sitting Luisa down on the short stool by her dressing table. Believe it or not, Luisa is light for her age, even with her gift. And she takes full advantage of her light build. She loves when Julieta lifts her onto the counter to sit while she makes arepas, or when Agustin gives her piggyback rides. She especially loves when Pepa wakes her up and carries her around her room for a little while while they cuddle, and sometimes if Pepa hasn't dressed, she'll help Pepa pick an outfit, all while Pepa holds onto her in a soft warm cuddle.
"Ok tia," Luisa yawned in the affirmative, and Pepa left to go wake the eldest two.
She started with Isabela, since she was right beside Lu.
A knock at the door proved that Isabela was definitely her mother's daughter sleeping like a rock until she either got up on her own or was forced awake by someone else.
With that Pepa opened the door to Isabela's room. She walked towards the bed and isabela had shifted in her sleep tossing the cover off herself. Usually Pepa wouldn't be surprised by this but when the blanket was thrown away from Isabela all she saw was skin. No nightgown, no camisole. Just Isabela's bare chest, which wasn't a big deal since it was Pepa waking her this morning, but what if it had been tio Felix, or her father. None the less she woke Isabela up, and Isa immediately pulled her sheet to her chest as her cheeks flushed in embarrassment. Isabela didn't say a word at first, but she didn't have to because Pepa was the one to break the silence.
"Isa, there's nothing to be embarrassed over, trust me. It's just something of a phase you go through, I will say, you got lucky this morning since it was me, but be careful when you sleep like this ok," Pepa said reassuring Isa that sleeping in her underwear or fully nude was normal, just to be careful and choose when she slept like this wisely.
"You get dressed, I'm going to wake up Lola," Pepa told noticing that roses bloomed on Isabela's chest for her to hide in until she had an actual top or dress on.
"Ok tia," Isabela said as Pepa left her room.
She took the short walk to Dolores's room and gently opened the door. Her daughter was wearing her head wrap and was sleeping soundly. Her blanket was thrown off her top half much like Isabela, but she was sleeping on her stomach so her chest was pressed into her mattress.
"Lola," Pepa said quietly as she coaxed Dolores to wake up.
"Buenos dias mama" Dolores said as she reached to her right to grasp Pepa's hand and give it a squeeze, a little habit she has picked up as a child.
"Buenos dias mi niña, sleep well?" Pepa asked trying to brace the subject of her sleepwear, or lack thereof.
"I slept well mama," Dolores said sitting up, she pulled the yellow nightgown discarded the night before over her head as she pushed her head wrap up to uncover her eyes.
"Seems you did, is this the first time you've done this or just the first time I caught you," Pepa asked being a bit more straightforward since Dolores had no shame or embarassment about her body. Yet.
"First time I did it, it felt weird, but in a good way," Dolores said stretching.
"Well, little piece of advice, be careful of when you do that, you got lucky since it was my turn to wake you this morning" Pepa said
"Ok mama, I'll make sure," Dolores said crawling out of her blankets to sit on the side of her bed.
"Alright, come down for breakfast when you're dressed," Pepa said giving Dolores a light hug.
She returned to Luisa and fixed her hair with a warm smile on her face, her thoughts racing with a desperate need to talk to Julieta. Once Luisa's hair was done, she and Pepa made their way downstairs.
Luisa was soon scooping Isabela, Dolores, Camilo, and Mirabel up from the living room to take them outside to play. Thankfully giving Pepa enough time alone to talk to Julieta, but not before a coffee.
"What's wrong mi hermana? I know you've got something on your mind," Julieta asked stirring together some cinnamon and sugar to sprinkle over the apples she'd just cut.
"Isa and Lola are going through that phase," Pepa grimaced
"Which one? We have a whole alphabet of teenage phases," Julieta said refilling Pepa's coffee mug.
"Let me put it this way, their sleepwear has changed," Pepa grimaced
"Ooh, that phase," Julieta sighed, "should we talk to them? I mean we went through the dormido desnudo phase when we were their age," Julieta reasoned pulling warm arepas off her cooktop.
"I know, but what do we tell them, if we tell them its wrong then they'll get the wrong idea of it and think its bad, its perfectly normal, but if we tell them that then they'll still do it, and we won't know when they do it, and that could lead to some awkward conversations or incidents." Pepa told weighing their options.
"I've got an idea," Julieta said
In the garden Luisa Isabela Camilo Mirabel and Dolores were kicking a ball around, when Dolores quirked her ear and said
"Cmon Isa Tia's calling us in," Dolores grabbed her older prima's wrist and ran inside with her, she had no idea why she grabbed her wrist but she did. Plus it was funny to hear isa yelling to slow down behind her
"You called?" Dolores said once the two were in the kitchen with Julieta and Pepa,
"Si, now its come to my attention that the pair of you are sleeping without your nightgowns?" Julieta asked
Both girls looked at each other and then back to Julieta embarrassed to admit their secret.
Julieta took that as a yes, and continued
"It's perfectly normal to experiment with sleeping desnudo, Pepa and I did it when we were your age. But to keep any awkward situations from happening, after breakfast Pepa and I will show you how to make a sign for your doors, that way in the morning, whoever has to wake you up will know to let Pepa or myself wake you." Julieta told to the blushing girls
"Can we make them now while the others are outside?" Dolores piped up
"Si mi nina, I'll go get everything you two will need, go ahead and sit," Pepa said going upstairs to grab her art supplies.
When Pepa returns with pens paper and string, she shows Dolores and Isabela what to do and leaves them to make their own designs. At Least now Pepa wouldn't be shocked to walk into one of their rooms and see an excess of skin
"Thank goodness mamá doesn't wake the kids, Isa would die if she did, and I truly dont like that isa has to uphold a perfect persona all the time when mama is around her," Julieta sighed continuing making breakfast
"I know, maybe we should let her sleep in one day when we know mama will be busy and give her a day to be herself, " pepa suggested
"You're a genius Pepa. We can do that probably tomorrow, mama has some plans with her amigas. We can keep the kids at home and make a day of it," Julieta said as she turned the sausages over
About a year later Luisa had her own sign to hang having also been caught, by Isabela.
"Look Julieta, Isa's showing Lu how to make the little door sign I showed her how to make," Pepa said as a small rainbow sprouted above her head at her nieces' interaction.
"It's good to see her talking to Lu and Mira, mama has her drawn so tight it's rare these days," Julieta said peeking out from behind her book. "Especially now since mama has her yanked tighter than ever with the perfect persona. I really hate that she had to stop wearing her favorite blue dresses in favor of more elegant pink ones to show her maturity"
Pepa agreed and continued smiling over her sobrinas.
Mirabel didn't quite get the chance to go through this phase at the same age her sisters did, due to Antonio being in the nursery with her. But when casita was rebuilt and she finally got her own room she was caught, her nightgown tossed to the chair and her chest against a pillow as she slept soundly.
"Mira, wake up," Julieta said.
The 16 year old slowly woke but once he brain had caught up she yanked her blanket to her chest.
"Mama! I-I" Mira studdered trying to explain
"Mi bebé, calm down, it's nothing to be ashamed about. All the girls went through it, even me and your Tia Pepa," Julieta told handing Mirabel her gown.
"Really?" Mirabel asked
"Yes really. You wouldn't believe how many times I caught both your sisters sleeping on their backs with their chests in the air. And honestly, I don't blame them. Sometimes sleeping nude is a nice change of pace" Julieta said. "After breakfast, ask Isa to show you how to make the sign for your door, she showed Lu about four years ago."
Mira smiled and straightened her gown before heading downstairs.
"it's about time you danced on the wild side. Come on we can all make new ones together, mine just broke and Luisa and Lola's are on the verge of breaking" Julieta heard her eldest say.
Things changed after the fall of Casita, and Julieta has to say seeing her daughters act like sisters again is the best change of them all.

ONE MAN BAND AU
AKA instead of mirabel having not gift she gets ALL of them.
When mirabel fist touch her door she instantly drop to the floor clutching her ears
She was holding her ears and a small cloud appears above her. Did she get Pepa’s gift? She turn around and her eyes glow a neon blue and with a POP! A blue tablet feel into her hands (she can see the present but only thing up from a few minutes to a day
. That's when everyone knew she had a combination of everyone gifts. The theory was proven correct when the went into mirabel room.
. Her room is basically a mashup of all the family bedrooms. In one corner is a waterfall of sand falling into a deep pit. Another corner has a theater and above everyone head are fluffy clouds
. It seem like mirabel has everyone gift
. It took mirabel 2 months to figure out how to work her gift. Usually her gift would overwhelm her and make her freeze or curl up into a ball crying
. The family had to help “train” mirabel with her gift. They found 3 things
1 mirabel gift works all the time unless she in her room or physical touching alma. They found the last part out after a week of mirabel getting her gift, she hug alma and notice that her hearing is now “normal”. When she stop hugging alma it came back, if she in arm distance from alma her powers are muffled and dither from that it’s back. The family things it’s because Alma is the one who created the miracle that can also make Mirabel powers stop
2 the second thing they found out is that even when the gift around constantly there, Mirabel can pick and choose which one she wants to use, she can use up to 3 (Felix joke that the madrigal come in three so it’s not that hard to believe that her gift can use up to 3 at a time.)
3 so because her strength and weather were the one that are constantly there she grew up helping Luisa and Pepa the most. After all two strong girl or two rebel weather witch’s can get the job done much faster
. It did get the job done fast. In fact by the time mirabel is 15 Luisa and pepa have a lot of free time. On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday she works with Luisa. Thursday, Friday and Saturday with Pepa. Sunday is her day off. Depends on who she with, she and that person can get the job done in the morning and they rest of the time is for free stuff
. Because of mirabel gift, she spends a lot of time with her family and helping them. She help the family so much that the family is already on the road to a healthy family dynamic by canon time. Isabela, Dolores, and Luisa already had their “character arch” too in canon.
. (Isa why can’t you grow different plants?
*It’s because I’m the eldest I have to be perfect*
*Oh…..do I have to be perfect too? Since we can both grow plants?*
*No Mira just me. I don’t want you to have to stress and be worried about what Abuela things*
*Oh…but why do you have to? That’s not fair we can both grow plants!*
…. Cue WECID scene)
. (*Dolly why do you like Mariano so much?*
*Oh I like him because of his poetry, he talks care of his mama, he’s nice* *rambles about Mariano*
*Oh! That’s good :) I heard he like you too he like nice girls* )
Mira then help Dolores get over her shyness and help her confessed with Isa help) the engagement scene doesn’t happen but instead it’s a proposal dinner. She and Mariano have been date for 6 years (15-21) and she and Mirabel have overheard Mariano practice the prosal. Dolores arch is to see if she wants to marry Mariano (she does but she didn’t know if she wants to do it now or later)
With Lusia since Mirabel spend so much time with her Mira keeps dragging Lusia to play or relax after there’s done. It’s a slow process but since the two girls work together the most it happens
.in the au Mirabel still wears her teal skirt with embroidery but it’s very different. It has patches and lace and ruffles of all the colors of the rainbow to represent her family with a bunch of embroidery and stickers ad other trinkets. It’s so clutters that you can barely see the teal and the embroidery that repents her (but that’s ok really! It doesn’t have to be about her it’s and about they family….but isn’t she part of the family? Why should everything be about her family what about her and her needs?)
. During the canon events she still walks Antonio down the his door. He still gets his gift and Mirabel gets a new one. She kind of panics because of the idea of getting a new gift. Does that mean she keep getting gift with ever new generation? How many can she get? 20? 50?
. She is in the picture this time. But after the picture she leaves the party and thinks about how to deal with the new ability to talk to animals. The last time she got a gift she was 5 and had to practice all of them for months, maybe this one will be easier?
. While she’s think the title falls and mirabel looks at it then she gets a vision. She see her and the casita falling and golden butterflies. Bruno also got the same vision, and both have a different reaction.
. Mirabel takes the vision literally, think the casita is going to fall on her or she’s going to break the family and the house. Bruno has the reaction that the vision is metaphorical, that Mirabel is going to break from the pressure and stress
. It’s both
. So Mirabel spends the next day running out the casita asking if anyone needs help and she even goes all around the town talking to everyone asking if they are alright. After all she the family therapist, she has all their gift so that means she has to help the family, right?
. So the moive is Mirabel running around town. Trying to help everyone and be of service while the family has to cache after Mirabel after they saw the vision to get her to calm down and rest

If your taking prompts: mama bear Julieta when someone gives Mirabel a hard time (writers choice on if its a villager, Abuela, Isa or so on) 😄
Sure thing!
Tumblr media
Julieta wasn't used to telling Isabela off; she normally behaved so perfectly.
This was, unfortunately, one of those rare times she had to do so.
She knew Isabela was stressed, and understood why; this was Mariano's first dinner with the Madrigals. Of course Isa wanted it to go well. Introducing your boyfriend to your whole family was a big deal, and Julieta knew how excited Alma was and she'd seen Isabela pacing nervously earlier, leaving a trail of rose petals and little daisies in her wake.
Still, that didn't mean Isabela got to take it out on Mirabel.
Julieta had asked Mirabel for help preparing the dinner. It wasn't the first time, nor would it be the last. Julieta had always enjoyed cooking with her daughters, a rare opportunity to spend quality time with any of them.
Mirabel had gone to Julieta's room to fetch some of the herbs she needed but, as she stepped back into the kitchen, Isabela spotted her.
"What are you doing?" Julieta heard her eldest demand. She sighed to herself, wiping her hands on her apron.
"I'm helping Mamá," Mirabel said flatly, eyes narrowed.
"As if you could help!" Isabela scoffed. "Just stay out of the way and-"
"Isabela!" Julieta snapped, stepping forward to Mirabel's side. "Not another word, young lady. I understand you're worried about tonight, but you will not speak to your little sister like that, understood? I asked her for help, don't you dare try and tell her what to do."
Isabela looked horrified. No doubt, she hadn't realised Julieta was nearby, or that she'd truly asked for Mirabel's help. Mirabel scoffed at Isabela and pushed past Julieta into the kitchen properly, practically slapping the herbs down onto the counter. Casita rattled in alarm.
"Mamá," Isabela said with a somewhat strained smile. "I didn't mean..." She trailed off when Julieta held her hand up to stop her.
"I know very well what you meant," Julieta said. She sighed and shook her head. "And I expected better from you, Isabela. You're eighteen, you should know better."
Isabela nodded. "Yes, Mamá," she said softly.
Julieta softened. "Deep breaths, mija," she said. "We'll all love Mariano, I promise. But you need to apologise to Mira later."
Her daughter nodded again. With a wave of her hand, roses crept down the pillars in the courtyard.
"It'll be perfect," Isabela said. A little reluctantly, she added, "And I'll...Apologise."
"Good," Julieta said. "You go get dressed. Mirabel and I will handle dinner."

Hehe tomorrow subject will be math and i'm going to have a test on that ... But hm, what's that? Oh yes u right, I DONT CARE - YOLO!!!
✁ ------------------- ✃
When somebody loved me
Everything was beautiful
Every hour we spend together
Lives within my heart
Julieta didn't expected that she's going to have a twin for the first time, but when they're born. They immediately change her world upside down. The first born named (Y/N) and the second one named Isabela, they're a perfect carbon copy of her when she was young.
As they grew up, Julieta couldn't help but felt happier than ever when she saw her daughters are sticking together no matter what. It reminds her with her other triplets siblings. The memories kept playing in her head as she watches the babies playing together.
And when she was sad
I was there to dry her tears
And when she was happy so was i
When she loved me
It surprises her when (Y/N) looked more like her as she grew up. Though, she didn't want to admit that it was kind of traumatizing when she remembered being the original golden child.
Julieta is busy cutting some ingredients on the cutting board, but her mind was somewhere else that accidently cut her finger. She winced in pain, as she looked at the bloody finger. “Ay...”
She didn't realize how deep it was that could made her eyes tearing up, it's been so long since she felt this pain though.
“Mama? Are you okay?” a tiny voice can be heard as the woman turned around and found (Y/N) is peeking at her. She quickly wipes her tears then showed the usual smile she used.
“Yes, i'm okay- corazon, it's just a small cut.” she wipes the blood from her finger but it's useless since the cut is too deep. She didn't notice that her daughter already stand infront of her with worried eyes, “Mama, you're in pain. Let me help you.”
Even though Julieta could heal herself, she let her daughter helped her. As if it was magic, (Y/N) give the cut a kiss then Julieta could no longer feel the bloody pain. She widen her eyes, “Now the pain is already gone, you're okay now Mama...”
Julieta stare at her daughter for a moment then smiles softly at her, “Thank you, mi preciosa. Te amo mucho.” with that, she pulled her daughter in her arms. (Y/N) can only smile and hugs her mother too.
Through the summer and the fall
We had each other that was all
Just she and i together
Like it was meant to be
As expected, (Y/N)'s gift is also healing but more to energy than making food like Julieta. Isabela got her gift that allow her to control flowers, vines and nature that around her.
Everything went smooth, just an ordinary life to spend with the families as usual and helped the people in town. Julieta is blessed having another baby, her bump is really showing that made her daughter's heart melt.
“what do you think their gender will be? A boy or a girl?” (Y/N) asked her twin as she finish making a flower crown, “well, i don't mind with both. As long as their our little sibling then everything will be awesome.” Isabela answered as she put the flower crown on her twin's head so (Y/N) did the same.
I LOVE THIS SO MUCH AND THE SONG TOO OMG IT NEVER FAILS TO MAKE ME TEAR UPPPPP😭😭 istg julieta as my mom would solve all my problems frfr. and isa as my twin?!?!?! literally my dream. but for real tho this was very cute, i love it

Lil Werewolf au angst <33
Just something that came to mind. Idk, I've got to go to bed soon, tis a school night 😩
_____
"Um, Lolo, can you help me get some sausage from the back of the table? I can't reach," Mirabel said to her 15 year old prima.
Mirabel swore she saw Dolores roll her eyes as she turned downwards to the girl with a sneer. "Why don't you ask Abuela to do it?" With that she took her plate and went to the table.
Mirabel sighed, deciding to settle with a couple extra arepas and whatever she could scoop from the left over eggs.
Lately, the 8 year old has noticed that her family was more...hostile? They would get attitudes with her; she already avoided Pepa, Isabela didn't like her, Luisa never had time for her, Camilo stopped playing with her (probably because of Pepa, she knows it is,) and now Dolores was just straight up being rude. The only ones who might’ve still liked her was her parents, and even then she wasn’t sure.
She didn't know why, but it must have been because she didn't get a gift. It started after her ceremony; after she found out she was like her Abuela. After that, everyone started to be meaner to her, and she really couldn't understand why. She tried her best to be nice and help out, but they always refused!
Mirabel placed her plate on the table, scrambling onto her chair, which was next to Abuela's at the head and Julieta who sat next to her. She avoided eye contact with her tia who sat across from her.
Abuela walked in and greeted them, to which they did back and she quickly made her plate. As she was about to sit down, she noticed how small Mirabel's plate was; now the girl didn't get massive plates like Camilo, but that certainly wasn't enough food for her.
"Mirabel, why do you only have 4 arepas, a scoop of rice and a half scoop of eggs? Where's the rest of your food mija?" Alma said, picking up Mirabel's plate. (Alma didn't seem to notice how Pepa thundered at her calling Mirabel 'mija'.)
Mirabel didn't want to rat her cousin out, she already hated her. "Um...well...I couldn't reach the back and..." Mirabel trailed off as she shurgged.
"This isn't...come on. I'll help you get some food, come tell me what you want," Alma grabbed Mirabel's hand and guided her back over to the table, leaving the other Madrigals to wait even longer to eat. All because precious Mirabel couldn't get her own food. (Even though it wasn't her fault, Mirabel was just naturally the shortest of the family.)
Pepa's grip tightened on her fork as she thundered again. Why does Mirabel get to have her mama's attention all the time? She doesn't even do anything she doesn't even have a gift! Pepa has worked for years just to get her mom's attention, and now Mirabel's gets it after doing nothing?
Isabela stared daggers at Mirabel's head. She hoped Mirabel knew she was watching her. Isabela had Abuela's attention. She was the perfect one, she had the best gift; even better, she had a gift to begin with! So why did the cursed giftless one get to spend more time with her, why does she get to be the favorite? Why did they get tk have their own little conversations, conversations that would stop whenever someone else walked into the room? What were they hiding anyway?
Dolores heard the two whispering again. It wasn't even about food, but about something that she didn't know about. One of the few secrets she couldn't get in on. Why wouldn't they tell her? Was it because she told on everyone? Cause she was immature? Why, why, why? She had a right to know, she was the 2nd oldest anyway!
The other gifted family members (sans Julieta, but even then, she had to admit she was a bit jealous of her daughter...) looked on in distaste at how close they were. How Alma kissed Mirabel on the forehead and petted her curls. How she actively went out of her way to help the girl get some food. It wasn't fair. For years, they worked to get Alma's attention. To get approved. But now, Mirabel's the favorite.
And for what? She didn't have a gift, so she wasn't helping out. She constantly got in the way, and then would cry about it to Abuela when they told her to stay out of the way (unbeknownst to them, Midabel's feelings were genuinely hurt at theur actions,). Alma didn't even protest to Mirabel's behavior!
It wasn't fair.
Why did Mirabel get to be Abuela's favorite?

I literally had a tumblr free weekend and I come back to Protector au, what the hell???!?!?!?
Julieta was meant to be helping Isabela with the garden, but for whatever reason, her eldest hadn’t shown up. She waited. Minutes turned to hours and still no sign - she assumed that Isabela was out helping some townspeople. They always found a way to keep her two elder daughters out working longer than any human should. Though, unlike Luisa, Isabela could say no. She wouldn’t worry too much about it; they could always reschedule. In the meantime, she could spend her free afternoon with her other girls.
She found them both in the nursery. Luisa sat embracing Mirabel, who looked like she had been crying. Her poor baby. Julieta couldn’t blame her, she be struggling if a building almost crushed her to death. It was a sweet moment too, Luisa was always protective of her younger sister, though they hadn’t been able to spend much time together with Luisa’s schedule before. It was nice to see them as close as they had been.
“Are you two okay in here?” She asked.
Luisa beamed at her. “Never better, Mama. Mirabel just pricked her finger on her needle, that’s all.”
Even if it was a minor injury, Julieta still felt driven to check. It was in her nature at this point. Neither Luisa or Mirabel had a good track record with injuries either - one had a very high pain tolerance and was a bit dismissive, the other very squeamish.
She stepped over, bending down. Mirabel didn’t move, so Luisa, having already been holding her wrist, extended the hand and injured finger outwards. Now, she has seen pinpricks before but this looked quite rough - for a pinprick, that is. She doesn’t quite believe that a little needle could do so much damage.
“Oh, mi amor,” she chided, gently. She pulled a handkerchief from one of the pockets of her apron, carefully wiping away some of the blood. It wasn’t completely necessary, but her youngest looked so upset about it. “You’ll be okay, there’s no reason to cry. It’s just a little blood,” she assured, pressing a quick kiss to her temple.
As she pulled away, she couldn’t help but shake the feeling that she was being watched. Which was silly, because of course she was, Luisa was sat right there. This felt different though.
She raised an eyebrow at the other, “Do you want a kiss too, Luisa?” She had teased, laughing a little.
Luisa gave a gruff noise, looking away, scowling. She didn’t answer.
“Luisa?” She questioned.
“What?” Came the moody reply.
“Are… Are you sure that everything’s okay? There isn’t anything you want or need to talk about? Your father and I are here for you, if you ever need to talk—”
“Mirabel and I are fine,” Luisa snarled, turning back to face her mother. Though it went unnoticed, Mirabel winced in her sister’s grasp that tightened. “We don’t need you.” Slightly calmer, then added, “We’re okay here.”
Julieta sighed, taking a few steps back in defeat. Something was clearly on Luisa’s mind, but there was no use in pushing just now.
“I’m just letting you know.” She said.
But she took the hint and left the girls alone, not without reminding them that dinner would be in a few minutes. Neither of them said anything, not even a nod of understanding. Teenagers, she thought to herself, as she pulled the door closed behind her. She did not miss being in that stage herself or having to deal with Isabela and Dolores when they were that age. Oh, how her mother handled alone it with gifted triplets, she’ll never know.

The cost of a world
The mom has leave them and the adults are sad. And Mirabel's so small, somebody has to take care of her
Mama Luisa is here!
Luisa doesn't really understand what happens.
She just knows that her mama can't see them right now. And that grown-ups are really sad because of it. Mama decided to take a trip after  Mirabel's birth and Luisa can't wait for her to return.
Mirabel is so small and Luisa extremely adores her baby sister. She's so small, but she already lives in a nursery with Luisa, in contrast to Camilo, still staying with his mother. But it's not surprising with how clingy he is. Instead of running and playing around Luisa learns how to take care of Mirabel, feeding and pampering her. She's pretty much copying Tía's behavior with Camilo, as she doesn't know many parents. Her little cousin is almost always in his mother's arms, so Luisa also hugs her hermanita as often as possible. She likes to call herself her Mama, after all, she's doing a lot of job instead of their real one.
Papa is sad, he is really sad, missing Mama. He looks so broken and often just stays in their bed for the whole day. Luisa usually brings him water and some food before returning to Mirabel. It's a bad thing to leave a baby without supervision. Tía Pepa makes rain, a lot of rain. And it just gets worse each time she's near the youngest girl. Besides she and Felix have an infant of their own right now to take care of. Tío Bruno is also really sad, not as much as Papa, but he doesn't come out of his room, just stays here, crying and panicking.
Luisa knows that they all are sad and missing Mama. She misses her too, but she hopes that she has a good time with Abuelo. People don't return from where Abuelo is... Why has Mama abandoned them? Instead, Luisa does her best to help. She wants Mira to feel loved. She loves her so much. Days keep stacking together, Luisa learns to be a parent because grownups are too sad. Isabela keeps clinging to Abuela, looking for a motherly figure and Abuela doesn't like Mirabel, so Isa doesn't spend time with her too. It's just Luisa and her baby
She doesn't think it's strange, no. After all, that's what good siblings are supposed to do, right? She steps in instead of their mom because she's busy and can't see them. Still, sometimes Luisa wishes for their mom to still be around. Part of her wants to run around and play with other kids or the older girls, even if those two were too quiet for her likence. But Mirabel needs someone to be around her. Luisa can't leave her child.
Luisa is the one to be here for Mirabel's milestones. She sees her learning to roll over, creep or crawl, hears her silly babbling. In a sense, she's getting used to acting as Mirabel's real mom. At the same time, she wishes to help her papa more, he's feeling bad, but luisa is too busy with Mirabel at the moment. Becides, Dad doesn't seem feeling better when Luisa's around, just more sad, staring at her as if he broke a glass jar or something like that.
Even when Luisa moves into her brand new room, she takes Mirabel with her. She's too small to be left alone. And Luisa wants to make sure she's safe. And now, with her new strength, it's getting extremely easy to just carry her daughter baby sister around. And Mirabel clings to her, as to the person she knows the most. Mirabel grows, sharing the room with Luisa. Always here, a little and sweet child.
She calls Luisa 'Mama' and it shatters her heart. It feels nice, complimenting, but also reminds about their mom who left them. But it also strikes her with complete realization that Mirabel isn't actually her sister, she's Luisa's daughter, her baby girl. Luisa does everything that Mom is supposed to do, and she doesn't remember Isabela acting like this with her.
And, maybe, a tiny part of Luisa feels that it's unfair. She wants to be a child too, not being elevated to the parent rank at such a young age. Isabela doesn't act like this with them both, Dolores doesn't act like this with Camilo and they both are older. And Luisa has to be a grown-up since she's been four, throwing away her childhood for this. And she feels bad because of this. Mirabel needs someone close to her, she's a nice girl and Luisa adores her. But, she still wishes to be a child. She wishes their actual mom to be here and fulfill her role herself
Luisa pushes those feelings aside, she has to be responsible for both herself and her hija.
After all, who is she if she doesn't have what it takes?

— our secret
summary: isabela confesses to fem reader 😱😱
isa x fem implied reader
not my best work but it’s isa my beloved so 🤲
Tumblr media
you were isa’s best friend. you supported her in everything she did. thats what a best friend did of course! so you tried SO hard to support her in this but a little part of you felt guilty for it.
isa hadn’t spoke to you in a week, which wasn’t like her. you two were very close and seemed on good terms before she started avoiding you.
you think it’s because of mariano.
mariano guzman, isabela’s soon to be husband. you hated it. she didn’t look happy. every time her abuela came she changed her expression quickly to a happy one.
“isabela! y/n’s here!” the curly haired boy called out. he gestured for you to come in and went back to the kitchen.
you stood there anxious, playing with your fingers.
“oh hey y/n, isa’s not here, it would be a huge help if you told her to come home now? if you find her?” julieta asked. “oh, alright i will.”you said smiling. “thank you sweetie.”
you went out looking for her, it was a small village. she was probably near by. after 10 minutes and asking the guzman’s you found her, on a rock close to the walls of the encanto.
she was sitting in the grass, staring into a tiny pond. in the distance was the sun setting and a bunch of trees blowing in the wind.
you made your way over to her, making a crunch noise from a leaf. she snapped her head around and after seeing who it was she went back to sulking. “hey.”
“hey. um your mama told me you weren’t home so. this views nice..” you stated blanky.
“mhm.”
“so uh are you okay?” you asked, obviously knowing she wasn’t but wanting to hear her say it.
her mouth twitched. “im fine, the views just.. really nice.”
you shuffled closer to her and sat down on the cold grass as she was doing, “it’s cold out, you shouldn’t be out here without a jacket.”
“i know, y/n. im fine though, you shouldn’t be worrying about me.” she mumbled, rubbing her elbows.
obviously something was wrong. she wasn’t herself. she wasn’t ‘señorita perfecta isabela’.
you guys sat in silence. she looked over to your reflection in the water and quickly looked away biting her lip.
“you can spend the night over at my house tonight. is it your abuela? is she putting too much pressure on you again?” you asked, resting your hand on her shoulder.
“can i tell you a secret?” she asked, not looking at you.
“of course..”
she paused for a moment. fiddling with her dress. “i don’t wanna marry mariano.”
you’re expression changed from worried to relived. “so why are you?” you asked.
“my abuela. im the oldest child and I’ve always been perfect im just sick of it. i don’t want to have kids yet or get married. she wouldn’t understand if i told her either. im losing my self esteem and i’ve been dreading this dinner we’re having tonight but i have to be there with a smile on my face for the amazing madrigals.” she sighed.
“and..”
“and because i like you.”
it felt like your heart literally exploded and your stomach dropped. “what?”
“i know it’s wrong, my abuela would never approve and i don’t know if my mama would but i love you. i have since we first met y/n.
“isa.”
“if you don’t feel the same way im-im sorry i just ruined our friendship didn’t i? i really didn’t wanna lose you too im so-”
“isa!” you shouted, grabbing her shoulder.
she looked over to you, her eyes wide.
you cupped her warm face and stopped her rambling by the touch of her lips on yours. stopping, you leaned your forehead against hers and smiled.
“i love you too. we can keep it a secret.”
she took a shaky breath and smiled wide. “our secret.”

Your birthday approaches fast, just a week until you turn twenty-five. Dolores and Isabela have taken over planning, unimpressed by your lack of interest and you, spending all your time in their tio’s room even though only a few people have shown up since Mariano. So far, you’ve only had to ward off one person who tried to have a go and it was because you refused to let them ask a dumb question that could be answered without magic. You’re constipated, dumbass!
Bruno has been stressed since his dream, vision thing, watching you with worry. You can tell that he’s been silently praying that you’d change your mind and let him give you a vision, but so far, you’ve held steady. You have no interest in knowing the future, good or bad. You’d rather live within the moment. Just the few details that he has told you have already made you uneasy.
You rub the cloth of the fingerless glove covering your scars, the soft silk gentle on your fingertips. Your mother sits on a stool by where you stand, holding pins between her lips as she sets the waist and hem of your new skirt. When it is done, it will fall to your knee, shorter than all your other skirts. Its lavender velvet rippling out with shades of green mixed in. You mother is planning a full outfit for your birthday as always, the skirt, a white shoulder less shirt and a single sleeve for your scarred arm, all detailed with lace and embroidery.
“Really?” your mother tsks as she brushes more sand away that had fallen from your hair to the skirt in her hands. It’s been nearly constantly falling from your hair for days and it seems no matter how much you clean your clothes there’s always more. All the sand in the world feels worth spending time by Bruno’s side.
“Sorry, mama. Perhaps I should have bathed before meeting you here.” You huff in amusement, sweeping away the grains from your shoulder to make sure no more fall onto the skirt. “I doubt it would have helped much though.”
“How has… working for señor Madrigal, been going?” your mother asks as she eyes the skirt, pulling away a stray thread before placing the next pin in the fabric.
“Very sandy” you joke, grinning when your mum waps you with the back of her hand. “it’s rather peaceful to be honest, not many have put in the effort of climbing the stairs to request a vision. I’ve been reading some of the books he has in his room to take up time, that and playing in the sand.”
“Has he been paying you enough?” she worries aloud.
“The Madrigals have gotten a decent amount of wealth over the years and since his return, Alma has started to give him an allowance again. He’s felt bad about not being able to pay me, so he’s been taking from that.” you sigh. It’s somewhat true, he did feel bad about taking you away from your paying job and then not being actually able to pay you. He also stuttered out something about wanting to support you, which you thought was a cute excuse, so you let him.
“How does doña Alma feel about that?”
“I doubt she knows, though if she does, she has not said.”
Your mother hums thoughtfully, lining up the lace with the hem. Whenever she hums like that it usually means something.
“¿qué mamá?” you can tell something burns in her mind, wishing to make itself known. She looks up at you with worry pulling at her frown lines, the small crow feet around her eyes seeming just a little deeper than usual. All well knows signs of worried thoughts.
“it’s nothing amor” she says biting away the words she really wants to say. She reaches up and squeezes your hand, smiling at you. “There! The pins are all in place.” She declares, leaning back to look at her work.
Once the underskirts are added it will flare out in layers and spin when you dance, each layer a different colour to make a rainbow when you move.
“I don’t know how you’re going to finish this within the week, mama. It always amazes me”
“Well, the other pieces are already complete, and I have no other commissions this week, so I have all the time to make this for my beautiful daughter.” She smiles as she stands. “Ok, behind the curtain and change, and don’t you dare pull a single pin from their place!” she orders as you disappear behind the draping cloth.
“Yeah, yeah, I know.” You huff, smiling as you ease yourself out of the skirt.
The bell above the store’s door chimes loudly to signal someone has entered and your mother calls to let them know she’ll be a moment. You fasten your sage green skirt that you showed up in back around your waist, making sure everything is tucked and layered properly.
“Señor Madrigal, how can I help you?” you hear your mother say as she steps out to the front of her shop, your heart racing at knowing he’s here.
“Uh I um… I was told… my ruana tore…” Bruno’s voice stutters out, making you smile at his nervous self. “No-normally I’d try to fix it myself, but i-I think it’s a bit past my skill level.”
“Okay let me see it.”
You listen as you delicately place the pinned skirt on the work bench by the sewing machine, making sure no pins have been pulled from their spots. Stepping around to stand in the doorway between the back and front of the store, you watch your mama focusing on the ruana, focusing on the tear with a thoughtful eye.
Bruno stares at the array of colours and different fabrics on the wall opposite you, unable to keep his eyes on his ruana in your mother’s hands. you notice your mother feeling around her apron for her pins, so you grab the little stuffed tomato filled with them and hand it to her.
“Here mama.” You smile as take the seat beside her. “Hola Bruno.” You greet him, smiling affectionately as his wide eyes meet yours. “how’d you manage this? It was fine yesterday.” you gesture to the massive tear in his ruana.
“Um heh, Antonio’s jaguar decided to say hello, his claws got caught in a small hole and, made it a bigger one.” He explains, rubbing his arm and looking away.
“Parce definitely has personality” you muse. You glance to your mother beside you, noticing the look on her face has returned once more. You wonder if she’s holding back because she knows Dolores can hear. Though she’s never held back because of that before… if she had she may never have spoken…
“I should have this fixed by tomorrow.” She tells Bruno, straightening her stance to meet his eye. “I’ll have to rush it; my daughter is obviously my priority.” Why does that sound like a veiled threat? Of course, she’s the first to be suspicious… “Come back tomorrow at noon, I’ll be sure to have it repaired by then.”
“Uh yes right… bye” Bruno spins to race from the shop, making you smile at his flustered ways.
Your mother steps around you to go out the back with the ruana in her hands and you follow her with a frown, crossing your arms and watching her with a raised eyebrow. She has something she’s holding back and now you’re sure you’ve figured out what.
“Mama… I can tell you have something on your mind…”
She pauses her ministrations, sighing as she looks up to you from the fabric in her hands. she glances around her desk, grabbing a piece of paper and a pencil and writing something down. She slides the paper along the table until it’s in your reach.
You slide it closer with the tips of your fingers, leaning on the table as you look down at the words. Your body reacts on its own to what you read. Your heart beating in your ears and your head feeling tense, your eyes tearing up just a little. Are you seeing Bruno? You close your eyes and take a deep breath. You want to say no, why would you think that? But she’ll find out eventually, she knows you too well. It would only be a matter of time.
“Si” you nod. You cannot meet her eye, no mater how hard you try to look up. You don’t want to be ashamed of your feelings, there’s no reason to be! But your mother is your mother, and if she disapproves… you don’t want to fight her for something like this.
She takes the paper back and writes down more words, your heart jumping into your throat. He’s so much older than you amor… do you love him?
“I… I don’t know… I think so. yes” You admit. It feels so right being around him. No relationship has felt like this. He’s taken you beyond the point any past relationship has reached and he’s breaking down a wall you thought was long set-in stone.
“Just be careful…” she says to your surprise, not fighting you over what she probably thinks is a terrible idea.
“te amo mamá” you say, leaning down and kissing her forehead. Your mama loves you truly, there’s no doubt about that and though you’re sure she disapproves, she loves you enough to let you go. Even if this is a mistake, she will let you make it.
“te amo hija”

Bruno’s POV
Pepa is clearly upset today Bruno thinks, the weather taking a turn for the worst as he browses the market stalls. Tiny raindrops start to fall and the light pitter patter makes other market goers disappear to escape what will most likely become a massive thunderstorm depending on the way his sister’s mood turns.
He can’t leave yet though. He’s been searching for a present for [Y/N] for what feels like hours, and so far, he’s had no luck. He’s looked at jewellery, but he remembered that depending on the metal it may not disappear when she shifts which would hurt her. He looked at a stall filled to the brim with imported books from across the world and though he did get a few, he isn’t sure if he wants them to be his gift for his amor.
He’s getting close to settling for giving her the books though.
Truthfully, he wants to give her something she can wear, something to display to the world that she is his, even if it’s only him that knows it. He knows that’s a selfish wish, but she makes him selfish. He would never have thought anything like that if it wasn’t for her, if he wasn’t head over heels for her.
Desperate to escape the sudden downpour, he races into a random shop, he bell ringing as lightning bursts across the sky violently, the thunder following it, so loud it shakes any glass nearby. Merde his hermana must be pissed. He loves her but he’s glad he is not there to experience what ever has upset her this much. Camilo has probably done a prank that’s gone too far.
“Seems señorita Pepa isn’t in a good mood today.” A woman’s voice calls out from underneath the shop counter. She stands up and her eyes go wide at seeing Bruno in her shop. “Lo siento mucho señor Madrigal” she apologises, regretting speaking so loosely about his sister.
The woman is older than [Y/N], maybe late thirties? She wears a wedding band on a string around her neck, the tan line on her finger almost completely gone and her curled ebony hair is tied in a bun at the top of her head.
“it’s fine, I understand mi sister’s temper.” He mumbles as he casts his eyes around the small store he’s now trapped in. He’s not sure if he’s even seen such a jumble of merchandise. Art and art supplies. Jewellery of various metals and stones. Imported dresses and nightwear. Whatever you could possibly think of can be found in this store.
“Were you looking for something or just escaping the weather, señor Madrigal?” the woman asks as she steps around the counter toward him.
“I um uh… I was escaping the weather but… I’m looking for something, a present for… a woman’s birthday.” He tells her, avoiding his relationship with said woman. “I was going to get jewellery… but she turns into a massive wolf… some metals don’t vanish with her clothes when she shifts… I don’t want what I get to hurt her.” He admits.
“I might have just what you need.” She hums, guiding him over to a display of cloth chokers, similar to what Dolores wears. “Is she a friend or, a beloved?” she prompts, looking over the pieces.
“I uh… a friend! Ju-just a friend.” He lies, his cheeks burning at his bumbling ways. He can’t slip up, Dolores can hear this.
“Oh well, that’s nice to know” she smiles, leaning closer, her dark skin warming at her cheeks. He smiles back at her. She’s very nice.
He casts his eyes over the options before him, brushing his fingers over each piece, a green gem catching his eye, almost glowing like one of his prophecies. If he didn’t know any better, he’d swear someone actually took one of his visions and turned it into jewellery. The black velvet is soft against his fingers and makes the stone stand out in vibrant contrast. She would look so beautiful in this.
Another near it has a stone the colour of her eyes when she is in her wolf form, the velvet the colour of her fur and almost as soft.
The cloth will disappear when she shifts, and the metal attached should go with it. they’re perfect.
“These two.” He tells the woman, gesturing to the two he wants but too shy to pull them from the display.
“Excellent choices, señor Madrigal” she flushes, lifting them delicately from their places. “I am sure your friend will love them. Would you like them wrapped?”
“Si, gracias.” He thanks, grabbing his coins from the purse at his hip. He doesn’t care about the price, he’ll get anything for her. He watches as the woman wraps them in a scrap of ivory silk, her fingers tying a bow in gold ribbon.
“I hope I’ll see you again” she simpers, taking his hand and placing the wrapped gift in his hand, her lips curved in a coy smile.
“Uh yeah, bye.” He smiles, tucking the package away in a pocket. What a nice woman.
He steps outside the shop and freezes, shuddering as the downpour drenches him instantly. He was so focused on the gifts that he forgot his sister was creating a storm to cover the whole of Encanto. Though normally her temper would have simmered down by now, it seems this one is in for the long haul.
He goes to pull up his hood but remembers his ruana is in for repairs. So instead, he sighs and makes the trek back home. Won’t have to put up with the rain for too long.
He hopes she likes the gifts he’s gotten. He knows she’ll appreciate the books for while they’re doing nothing in his room.

[Y/N]’s POV
The week has passed in the blink of an eye, and now music and laughter echoes through the halls of La Casita. The scent of wine and amazing food wafts through the air, making you drool with hunger. Your skirts bloom like a flower as you dance with your best friends. You’ve danced for what seems like hours and you’ve probably drunk far too much.
The courtyard is decorated with lavender flowers, scented candles and bright lanterns. The tiles on the floor are brighter than usual and the dance floor is now lined with white tiles.
your gifts lie upon a table at the edge of the courtyard, underneath the balcony. New gloves to cover your scars, a few bracelets that you probably can’t wear and a few statuettes of women and animals. All the guests have taken turns wishing you a happy birthday and you’ve smiled at each one, thanking them for their blessings and taking their gifts happily. Even Camilo gave you a sweet gift and a kiss on the cheek.
With a bright smile, you step off the dance floor, leaving your friends where they dance joyfully. You step to the table covered in treats and drinks, standing next to Bruno as pour yourself a large glass of water, gulping it down hungrily.
“Heh, rather thirsty huh?” Bruno fights his smile, looking at you with gentle amusement, turning to the table to face away from the crowd.
“I’ve been dancing for hours! Of course, I’m thirsty” you grin, bouncing on the balls of your feet, high on adrenaline. “Though I wasn’t looking forward to today, Isa and Dol really know how to throw a party.”
“Si. it is good to see you’re enjoying your birthday.” You feel your cheeks go red as you up at him from the table. Your heart races at the affection in his eyes and you can’t help the way your lips part. “I unfortunately forgot to grab my gift for you from my room. I’ll head up soon to get them for you.” You nod glancing back down to the table, trying to hide the blush on your cheeks.
“Uh, h-hi [Y/N].” a timid voice peeps to your left and you turn to look at them. “I-I’m sorry I’m late to your birthday.” the girl stutters. You remember her through a haze of drunken memories. Her light umber skin and dark eyes and short wavy hair falling just above her shoulder. You were flirting with her during the celebrations for Casita’s rebuild. “I had so many chores, I-I couldn’t come sooner.”
“That’s okay, I’m happy you got to join eventually, there’s still a few hours of party left.” You smile at her, taking a sip of another glass of water.
“I m-made you a gift.” She says, holding out a small box. “My father works wood and umm I’ve learnt a little, so I made this.” She explains as you take the box. A wooden ring stained with oil sits within the box atop a scrap of cloth, just the right size to fit on your thumb. You lift the ring from its box, your eyebrow rising as you look at the girl. “I-it doesn’t mean anything!” she defends, realising what a ring usually means when gifted to one you like. “I was just thinking of what you might like, and I made it…”
“it’s fine, thank you.” You smile, rubbing her arm. “Please, enjoy the party.”
“Ye-yes of course! Than… you too. Happy birthday” she flushes, racing off to join her friends.
“a sweet gift.” Bruno mumbles as he peeks at the ring over your shoulder.
“It fits too.” You smirk turning to face him as you slinde the ring on your thumb. “She must have paid a lot of attention to my fingers. Or none at all.” You shrug, watching his reaction with amusement.
“I’m going to go find the gift I got for you. I’ll be right back.”
“No, it’s fine. I’ll come with you. You’ve probably lost it in all that sand in your room.” you tease, glancing to your friends before following Bruno to his room.
~~~~
Dolores POV
It took her a while to realise her best friend hadn’t returned. She heard her leaving to tio Bruno’s room to find the gift he had gotten for her and she has yet to return. Dolores had clearly drunk a bit too much if she failed to notice her best friend missing from her own birthday party.
“Isa! Primo!” Dolores whisper yells, trying to get Isabela’s attention. “[Y/N] has wandered off from her own party, we should go find her.” Dragging her up the stairs to Bruno’s room.
“She probably just needed a moment to breathe.” Isabela tells her, though she follows her up the stairs.
She knocks on the door and opens it, staring at the hourglass of falling sand as they both enter. It has been a great many years since either of them have set foot in their tio’s room, it was forbidden for so long. They haven’t even been in there since Bruno’s return.
They move through the sand, onto the steps down into the room. Piles of sand cover the floor, rising up the steps to meet them. The stairs opposite them disappear into the sky, too many to count.
Dolores remembers a statue of a hand, pointing to the sky, your future awaits written in the stone. Though as she looks around, it is no longer there. In its place sits an empty platform with stairs leading to nothing.
She squeaks as she spots something descending from the top, a whirlpool of sand underneath it.
As they watch it lower their eyes go wide and mouths fall open. Their best friend wrapped in their uncles embrace, her arms around his neck and their lips pressed together.
“What the fuck!?” Isabela shouts as the floating hands reach the bottom, the two upon it launching apart.
