Medieval Scorpions Effortpost

So yesterday I reblogged this post featuring an 11th-century depiction of the Apocalypse Locusts from Revelations, noting the following incongruity as another medieval scorpion issue:

The artist, as you can see, has interpreted "tails like scorpions" as meaning "glue cheerful-looking snakes to their butts".

Anyway, it occurred to me that the medieval scorpion thing might not be as widely known as I think it is, and that Tumblr would probably enjoy knowing about it if it isn't known already. So, finding myself unable to focus on the research I'm supposed to be doing, I decided to write about this instead. I'll just go ahead and put a cut here.

As we can see in the image above, at least one artist out there thought a "scorpion" was a type of snake. Which makes it difficult to draw "tails like scorpions", because a snake's tail is not that distinctive or menacing (maybe rattlesnakes, but they don't have those outside the Americas). So they interpreted "tails like scorpions" as "the tail looks like a whole snake complete with head".

Let me tell you. This is not a problem unique to this illustration.

See, people throughout medieval Europe were aware of scorpions. As just alluded to, they are mentioned in the Bible, and if the people producing manuscripts in medieval Europe knew one thing, it was Stuff In Bible. They're also in the Zodiac, which medieval Europe had inherited through classical sources. However, let's take a look at this map:

That's Wikipedia's map of the native range of the Scorpiones order, i.e., all scorpion species. You may notice something -- the range just stops at a certain northern latitude. Pretty much all of northern Europe is scorpion-free. If you lived in the north half of Europe, odds were good you had never seen a scorpion in your life. But if you were literate or educated at all, or you knew they were a thing, because you'd almost certainly run across them being mentioned in texts from farther south. And those texts wouldn't bother to explain what a scorpion was, of course -- everyone knows scorpions, right? When was the last time you stopped to explain What Is Spiders?

So medieval writers and artists in northern Europe were kind of stuck. There was all this scorpion imagery and metaphor in the texts they liked to work from, but they didn't really know what a scorpion was. Writers could kind of work around it (there's a lot of "oh, it's a venomous creature, moving on"), but sometimes they felt the need to break it down better. For this, of course, they'd have to refer to a bestiary -- but due to Bestiary Telephone and the persistent need of bestiary authors to turn animals into allegories, one of the only visual details you got on scorpions was that they... had a beautiful face, which they used to distract people in order to sting them.

And look. I'm not here to yuck anyone's yum, but I would say that a scorpion's face has significant aesthetic appeal only for a fairly small segment of the population. I'm sure you could get an entomologist to rhapsodize about it a bit, but your average person on the street will not be entranced by the face of a scorpion. So this did not help the medieval Europeans in figuring out how to depict scorpions. There was also some semantic confusion -- see, in some languages (such as Old and Middle English), "worm" could be a general term for very small animals of any kind. But it also could mean "serpent".* So there were some, like our artist at the top of the post, who were pretty sure a scorpion was a snake. This was probably helped along by the fact that "venomous" was one of the only things everyone knew about them, and hey, snakes are venomous. Also, Pliny the Elder had floated the idea that there were scorpions in Africa that could fly, and at least one author (13th-century monk Bartholomaeus Anglicus) therefore suggested that they had feathers. I don't see that last one coming up much, I just share it because it's funny to me.

*English eventually resolved this by borrowing the Latin vermin for very small animals, using the specialized spelling wyrm for big impressive mythical-type serpents, and sticking with the more specific snake for normal serpents.

Some authors, like the anonymous author of the Ancrene Wisse, therefore suggested that a scorpion was a snake with a woman's face and a stinging tail. (Everyone seemed to be on the same page with regards to the fact that the sting was in the tail, which is in fact probably the most recognizable aspect of scorpions, so good job there.) However, while authors could avoid this problem, visual artists could not. And if you were illustrating a bestiary or a calendar, including a scorpion was not optional. So they had to take a shot at what this thing looked like.

And so, after this way-too-long explanation, the thing you're probably here for: inaccurate medieval drawings of scorpions. (There are of course accurate medieval drawings of scorpions, from artists who lived in the southern part of Europe and/or visited places where scorpions lived; I'm just not showing you those.) And if you find yourself wondering, "how sure are you that that's meant to be a scorpion?" -- all of these are either from bestiaries or from calendars that include zodiac illustrations.

12th-century France, Peter Lombard's Sententiae. (Very colorful, itsy bitsy claws, what is happening with that tail?)

12th-century England, "The Shaftesbury Psalter". (So a scorpion is some sort of wyvern with a face like a duck, correct?)

13th-century France, Thomas de Cantimpré's Liber de natura rerum. (I’d give them credit for the silhouette not being that far off, but there’s a certain bestiary style where all the animals kind of look like that. Also note how few of these have claws.)

15th-century England, "Bestiary of Ann Walsh". (Screw it, a scorpion is a big lizard that glares at you for trying to make me draw things I don’t know about.)

Chiron + Healing pt. 1: The Bad Part

Chiron is the wounded healer, and where he's placed in your chart can tell you about where you basic wounds are, maybe traumas, and where to you could also heal/learn how to heal.

Remember that astrology doesn't always tell the future, and just because you have one placement doesn't mean it's set in stone, it's just a blueprint. So, if it doesn't resonate, that's fine! If it does, in parts 2 & maybe 3 we can explore way we can use Chiron to heal ourselves. A wound can always heal.

DISCLAIMER: I'm not a professional and this post doesn't really explain it the best, as I am a goofy lil fella, so with that, enjoy part 1 of hopefully 2 or 3.

Chiron in 1st: Wounds are about the outward personality, physical appearance, what people first see about you and first meetings. These natives may have issues with how they're perceived by others and may fear being viewed as wrong or lesser than. This placement makes you very competitive because of that, and you could also have issues with being a sore loser. Having the image you worked so hard to make being shattered in any way shape or form isn't something you like. A coping mechanism you take part in could be just never losing and never taking a break in "self improving" of any kind.

Aries: Leadership, confidence and competitiveness are put to the test under this zodiac sign. You could fear leadership, or dislike having it challenged, while control might not be an issue for you, having leadership questioned is, as it's not about being able to do everything yourself, but being able to present yourself as someone dependable-like a leader, and because of that you could either shy away or try to hard to boss up. Another manifestation is confidence. Faking being confident and putting up a mask as a way to cover up your insecurities.

Chiron in 2nd: Money, skills, and personal possessions. A very straightforward house. You may be a very materialistic person, or reject it completely. There also may be a fear of being perceived as poor or as someone who needs charity, and it could make you a very frugal person even if you have the funds. You could also have issues with feeling as if you have no useful skills, Taurus being a sign that works very slowly, you may not accumulate skills as fast as your peers. A coping mechanism could be your stubbornness and frugality and cutting some corners in order to catch up with others. 

Taurus: Self worth is challenged in this zodiac, as you may feel a sense of worthless compared to others. Whatever image of yourself you have could be extremely rigid and unmoving, not allowing yourself to change. Like for example, you could think people view you as someone who constantly needs to be dependable-a person to lean on-so you refuse to change. You would rather become burned out from something that doesn't fit you than let people down.

Chiron in 3rd: Wounds in the house and sign of communication, mental activity and even siblings. This can make someone who may have been bullied or made fun of their way of communicating of the thoughts they have, or even bullied online. This can make someone who either goes all in on learning to be perceived as smart,  or someone who's afraid of putting themselves out there online. A sibling could even be a wound, and also could've been the bully. Coping mechanism could be never speaking up and keeping to yourself.

Gemini: Flakiness, jumping from thing to thing, and not taking things too seriously could be an issue for you. While Gemini's do have a "reputation" for being non-committal, I think that may only be true if it's Chiron. A fear of stagnation is big here, as you may have a habit of wanting to do everything-a fear of missing out is strong here, and you dislike is something tries to stop you from discovering everything and anything-even if it's bad for you.

Chiron in 4th: Wounds in the house of family, roots, and inner security. Chiron here is never fun, having issues with finding security or finding a home that you feel safe in. Family can also see you as someone who's okay to push around or you could be "behind" compared to other family members. Your mother could specifically cause a wound as well. A coping mechanism could be never settling down and ignoring family. 

Cancer: Care taking, loving intimacy, and parental fears come to a head in this sign, as love could be something you long for. Being taking care of is a fear of yours, and maybe being seen as crybaby isn't something you enjoy. You could fill that void by being overly caring of others-or completely removing yourself emotionally from scenarios. A fear of not receiving the care you need is a big wound for people who have this placement.

Chiron in 5th: Wounds in the house of hobbies, creativity, and romance. Trouble with putting yourself out there is a big wound, as you could be worried of how people will see you. Embarrassment is a big thing you may want to avoid. In order to avoid embarrassment, you may keep everything to yourself. No sharing hobbies, no going on dates, and keeping all creative endeavors to yourself. Shying away from the spotlight saves you from anything you may deem a worry. 

Leo: Dimming your light may seem like the only option for you. Fears of being seen or ever remembered can be an issue. You may have a longing for putting yourself out there, being seen and being adored, but something may stop you-whether its an external force or internal. Keeping yourself to yourself may serve as a first priority. An issue that could happen is a push and pull between wanting to be seen and in the shadows.

Chiron in 6th: Wounds in the house of health, work, and service of others. Health could be something that's a constant worry for you, along with maybe even being a workaholic, and having coworkers nitpick things you do. You could also have a fear of taking care of others, maybe never thinking you'd be good enough to be a caregiver to giving too much and losing yourself. Focusing on work may be a coping mechanism.

Virgo: Taking the detailed-orientated nature of this zodiac and switching it to something toxic and overwhelming is something Chiron does well in Virgo. You're your own biggest critic, choosing to control little things that may not matter instead of looking at bigger pictures. Fear of being scene as someone who isn't hardworking and intelligent has you focusing on the wrong things.

Chiron in 7th: Wounds in the houses of one on one relationships, business deals and marriage. You may have a major wound with being alone, and could have a habit of staying with people for too long out of fear. The opposite could also occur, and you may stay single for long periods of time so you don't get hurt. A common issue is also being too nice and having a fear of being perceived as not polite or put together. 

Libra: People pleasing becomes a big issue for Libra, as like 7th house, balance, politeness, and love is an issue. Fearing that people may see you as anyone other than a perfect individual can cause you to freak out. People not liking you can be at the forefront of your mind. Putting others opinions of you in front of yourself can make you feel like you're fixing that problem.

Chiron in 8th: Wounds in the house of s*x, death, and transform. Wounds lie within places others can't see. Transformations may be a very painful experience, and you could become someone who fights change due to this. Things like intimacy could be something you avoid, and death could be a fear on your mind almost in constant. Isolation a d refusing to progress/transform in life could be a coping mechanism.

Scorpio: Never opening up, mysticism and sensually is used badly to cope. Thoughts of emotional investment and discovering can lead you to fear yourself, so you keep yourself at distance-from yourself and others. Embracing that classic Scorpio mysteriousness in a bad way, you stay mysterious to even yourself. Creating a hard shell around yourself and calling it "protection" could be a problem, as you could refuse to question who you're protecting yourself from.

Chiron in 9th: Wounds within higher education,travel and general philosophy. You may have similar issues to 3rd house as never feeling good enough intellectually and either going way too hard in college or refusing to go at all. Traveling could also be tough, as you could have a fear of foreign places. Link to that there could be a little bit of religious trauma and a constant need from freedom and a lack of routine. A coping mechanism could be hopping from one thing to the next in order to avoid stagnation, especially to fill in the gaps of the things you're afraid of. 

Sagittarius: Like Gemini, you hate stagnation. Anyone holding you down or attempting to box you in could be a constant fear, choosing to call yourself a "free spirit" instead of admitting you have a fear of not living your life is something you can do. While that is a legitimate fear-you may choose to live life instead of experiencing life. Taking a moment to breathe may feel like a death sentence to you.

Chiron in 10th: Fear of recognition, status and authorities (specifically male) could be present within your life. You may be very lazy as to not get noticed for anything, as a fear of the public eye could become a major theme, or you could overwork yourself in fear of being forgotten and not achieving said status. You may have a habit of rebelling against authority figures in your life, and even if it's for your own betterment, doing the opposite of what they tell you. Coping mechanisms could be putting off work you know you should do, or shying away from things that require hard work in fear of a good outcome. 

Capricorn: Workaholic practically trademarked under this placement. Constantly needing to have work in front of you or constantly working on something as a way to ignore reality may be something you take part in. In contrast-you may be so paralyzed by having to work on something and achieving something you do nothing at all. Going in waves of everything at once to nothing at all with no balance could be something you take part in.

Chiron in 11th: Fear of communities, friends, tech, and even aspirations are the themes of this Chiron. You could be someone who decides to be a black sheep and go against the grain of what you see out of fear of rejection, or you could refuse to be as against the grain as possible. You may not like social media and have trouble with most technology, or you may not have been as exposed to it. You could also be afraid of voicing your goals and achievements to others in fear of being made fun of. A coping mechanism could be refusing to put yourself out there.

Aquarius: Like Leo and refusing to be in the spotlight, your individuality could be a wound. Being a black sheep may be a a worry, so blending into the crowd may be something you like doing. Keeping your hobbies to yourself to appeal to others is something you may do frequently. Being cold and cut-off from your own self may be something you like doing.

Chiron in 12th: Fears of isolation, your own mental health, rebirth. You may reject being alone and constantly surround yourself with people, refusing to do any shadow work that may be needed on yourself. Your mental health could also be a constant worry, and you could spend a lot of time worrying about things you may not get answers to. Like 8th house, death could be a worry, and the spiritual side of it could be a wound. Transforming yourself could also be an issue, as changing drastically could cause you to worry about the mental health aspect to it. Coping mechanisms could be constant daydreaming, and adopting a "head in the clouds" view of the world in order to cope.

Pisces: Sensitivity is heightened in this sign, whether it's spirituality, intuitiveness, or just your emotions, you may under a constant feeling of being "attacked. Taking little things as criticism could be an issue. Spirituality/religion could have a hold on you-good or bad- and you may try to refuse your own emotions and sensitivity in exchange for something someone else created.

Issues with personality, ego and shine come into play here, as Chiron touching it can cause you to associate your pain with your outward personality. You could think people just like to hurt you, or attaching your traumas to your personally is the answer.

Emotions are offended here in any way, as they could get hurt and belittled on a daily basis, or your wounds have simply altered your emotional state. You may not want to talk about your emotions or speak out about if someones hurting you.

Mercury -

Silence may be your favorable option, as speech could be a wound-whether you may not feel like you're being heard or get silenced. Your trauma could also take up a big part of your brain-going over what could happen or could've happened more than needed.

Venus -

Self Worth, style and beauty could be something easily affected by others. Having Chiron put a magnifying glass under how you could view yourself, you may conform to have people view you because your own view may feel incorrect. You also may have a habit of trying to heal yourself through lovers/and or other people's love instead of your own.

Ego is something that could be wounded constantly, whether it's intended or not. Anger may feel like the only option to cope-or others may feel like it's the only option to deal with you. Masking rage or engaging in it too much may be a vice.

Jupiter -

You may be someone who feels unlucky, like your luck is stolen, or like your expansion is cut off with Chiron here. Jupiter's effects may feel hindered to you, and you may cut off your expansion because of it, believing like it's something you cannot achieve.

Saturn -

Restrictions that Saturn may naturally bring are put in effect 10 fold here, feeling like you cannot achieve something-or restricting yourself from doing whatever it is you feel like doing. Overworking and perfectionism could be something you take part in. You may put a leash on yourself with this placement.

Uranus -

Your future advancements, creativity and uniqueness could be affected by wounds you have-opting to hide those qualities in fear of being seen as strange or weird. Someone or something could've taught you that those things were wrong, and wanting to be seen as "normal" could be a want.

Neptune -

Your spirituality, illusions and dreams could be plagued by Chiron qualities. Dreams you may have for yourself may seem like something out of reach, or your nightmares themselves could be of things you worry about. Spirituality could be something you shy away from or dig too deep into, as ignoring Neptune themes in this case may be something you do too much. Projection may also be an issue for you.

Pluto -

You may associate transformation and dark topics as pain in this aspect- like the problem with 8th house- you may have a refusal to change-or being forced to change more than you want to. Whether it's not enough or too much, transformation is something that scares you.

So, I’ve done a post about why I add a character’s moral alignment, so I thought I would do it for the Tarot cards. Maybe you’ve noticed it or not (it is something I’ve only started doing). 

Because there are 4 suits; Cups (Water), Wands (Fire), Swords (Air) & Pentacles (Earth). I decided this first post will be about the Major Arcana, to break up the Tarot - so it’s easier to digest, rather than have everything thrown at you.

Okay, so the Major Arcana is about a person going through different stages in their life. Starting off with The Fool - who is a curious innocent who wants to experience the world, to the end, ‘The World,’ meaning you’ve accomplished what was set before you.

Each zodiac sign has their own tarot card that represents them. Here’s a free website that tells you. I’ll provide the sun signs equivalent to their tarot card. Although you have your own personal one!

I’ll make another post on how to read tarot cards, because there’s a lot that goes into it. But with the Major Arcana, their messages are much clearer (inn my experience) then the Minor Arcana (the suits; cups, wands, swords, pentacles). 

Also, when I read tarot, I include when a card comes out upside down. You don’t have to do this if you don’t want to. Do what feels right, it may seem silly or overstated, but your intuition is a superpower. Feel it in your gut. Listen to yourself. 

These cards will represent the deeper, more life-impacting matters. The Major arcana deal with the major moments in our lives.

This is a card of rebirth. It signifies new opportunities. Telling us that it’s never too late to start fresh and follow your heart’s desire.

Upright: New beginnings, adventure ahead, innocence, a thirst for life, enthusiasm. Someone who lights up a room. Taking that leap of faith, starting something new, optimism, openness to the unknown, a free spirit. 

Reversed: Recklessness, risk, naievity, holding yourself back, stupidity, negligence. 

Yes/No: Yes (although usually when a card is in reversed, it means the opposite. Again, you don’t have to take into account when the card is upside down. It’s completely fine to read them as if they were upright)

Advice: Don’t be afraid to take chances, and go on new adventures. However, think before making too big of a leap. Change is inevitable, embrace it rather than fight it. You never know what could happen next.

The Magician represents creation and manifestation. This card is the inventor, the self-employed, the entrepreneur. It reminds us to step into our power.

STAR SIGN LEGACY CHALLENGE

A twelve generation legacy challenge based on the twelve signs of the zodiac. Each generation will have a different set of goals and requirements before the new heir takes over.

Rules:

Aging must be turned on, but you can have it at any length you wish (I recommend long but it is entirely your choice).

Each goal must be met before the new heir takes over.

You cannot give the sims dramatic makeovers or personality adjustments. Slight changes to the appearance are fine but they can’t be made into a whole new sim.

NO MONEY CHEATS.

Vague guidelines/suggestions:

Heir can be any gender, they don’t have to be female. They can also be any sexuality. 

Children don’t have to be genetic, they can be adopted, BUT they must be adopted as a baby/toddler.

Mods and custom content can be used.

The generations will offer three traits, you do not need the heir to have all three traits, but they MUST have at least TWO of them.

If you cannot add any of the required traits when the heir is a child, you are able to choose another trait and change it to the correct trait when available (either as a teen or YA). You can do this through cheats in CAS. But the same rule applies that you must have at least two of the offered traits by the time the heir is a YA.

If you do not have all of the packs required to complete the requirements for each generation, either find a similar alternative or skip that rule. But where possible, you must complete each generation requirement.

(OPTIONAL) I have assigned each generation a colour, you don’t have to follow this at all, or you can only use it as much as you want. You don’t need a whole yellow house with a sim only dressed in yellow, for example. It’s up to you!

(OPTIONAL) I have also given every generation a different theme to name their children. Again, this is all optional and you can ignore this, I just thought it would be fun and add a little extra challenge by coming up with different names you might not always use.

Inspiration: I am aware there are other zodiac inspired legacy challenges, but I have never done one myself and I didn’t read others before creating my own. I wanted to make sure all of the generations were entirely my own without feeling like I took inspiration from other challenges. All of the personalities and requirements are based on stereotypes of the signs.

THE GENERATIONS

Generation 1 - Aries

You have always been an independent and confident person. Even since childhood, you knew what you wanted to do and had a plan to get there. You dreamed of becoming- no, you WOULD become a politician, with the aim of making the world a better place. You wouldn’t let anything get in your way and put all your efforts into climbing to the top in the world of politics. You make friends with like-minded people and bump heads with those you don’t get on with as well. Your main issue is that you have never liked it when people tell you what to do. You often get easily frustrated when you think people are saying that you’re unable to do something. You never turn down a challenge and have always been extremely passionate about all of your interests. Anything bold and daring, you’d try it. The first time you visit Mt. Komorebi, you know this is where you want to be. The snowy slopes mean that you can spend as much time as you want rock climbing, skiing, snowboarding… anything to give you an adrenaline boost! You live for a life of thrills, always on the edge, heart-racing. You have always been loyal, sticking by your friends through thick and thin. It’s the same in relationships. In your eyes, love is built on trust and loyalty, and you would never forget this. You will always fight for what you believe is right and support the people you love, no matter what.

Any partner must be a good friend before you start romancing them

Whenever you get stressed, you go to the kitchen and let all your frustration out into your cooking. And it pays off, your food is incredible. You spent your teen years cooking and dreaming about a future doing the same. Your dream is to one day own your own restaurant, but you need to make a name for yourself in the cooking industry first. Starting from the bottom won’t be easy, but you know you have the drive and the talent to make it. Nothing will stop you from achieving your dream. Even though you had a really close relationship with your parents, they did work a lot, meaning you spent a lot of time home alone. Well, not alone. You always had dogs in the house. It’s true when they say that dogs are a man’s best friend. You can’t imagine ever living without a dog. They’re just as much a part of your family as any sim ever could be. After long and stressful shifts, you know you will always come home to your furry friend.

Being a twin, you always feel like you have to try harder to carve your own personality. You and your twin aren’t the same person, just because you look the same. You are unique and will prove that to everyone, in the most dramatic and fun ways you can think of. You’re a bold and confident person who wants to stand out, in every sense. You always worked hard in school, but it came easy to you to get good grades. You’re a natural genius, and aren’t afraid to show off and boast about it. You have a variety of friends and enjoy meeting new people, and you’ve never been afraid to experiment with fun and different styles or hobbies. Because of your parent’s high maintenance attitude and their frequent freaking out at little things, you’ve become a bit unpredictable as well. No one knows what mood you’ll be in, or how you’ll react to things. You enjoy this though, you like that people see you as an enigma. Life would be boring without a bit of spontaneity! It’s the same with your work life, and in romance too. You can’t settle in one job for a long time; you always get bored and want to try something new. You’re no different with relationships. You never really have a serious, long-term partner. It’s not that you aren’t interested in romance, it’s more that the idea of exploring new romances and people excites you more than settling down with one partner forever. You have always been inspired by your grandparent’s love of adventure. You want to explore different cultures, try new things, and be courageous! But can you keep up with this lifestyle forever?

You feel like you never really had any true friends growing up; you always have to leave them behind when your parent decides it’s time for a change of scenery. You try to stay in touch online, playing games with them and chatting, but it isn’t the same as being with them in person. Your parents always love you and treat you well, but you can’t help but dream of having a ‘normal’ family. With parents who live together and living in a forever home. You have always wanted this life for yourself. But when you get it, you realise that this ‘normal’ family isn’t everything. Things aren’t as easy as they always seemed. Your partner has been keeping secrets from you, and you find out in the worst way possible. Absolutely distraught and heartbroken, you begin to put all your effort and love solely into your children, often forgetting to care for yourself. Your children are innocent in this and you won’t let them suffer because of your partner’s mistakes. It takes you a while to get over the pain they caused you, but, eventually, you are able to pick yourself up and find a new focus in life. Your children will always come first, but you realise that you want to make sure all children are looked after and cared for. You decide to join the education career so you can work with children and be there for them. Over time, you learn that the main thing in life is having people who love and support you, and just because a family isn’t always together, it doesn’t mean it’s broken.

You always knew you wanted to be known in the world, but would never give up on your creative hobbies for the sake of your career. While the rest of your family would rather be outside, followed by fans and paparazzi, you had always much preferred being home, tucked up with a good book. You still had a good relationship with your parents growing up, but felt like they unintentionally put extra pressure on you to be the best. The whole world watched you grow up, so they would know if you put a toe out of line. You always worked hard to avoid this embarrassment, for both yours and your parents’ sake. Having famous and rich parents meant that you had so much handed to you growing up. A lot of people would have loved this, but you hate it. You want to make your own life and create your own path, without your parents’ help or money. You were never interested in romance or love, but you love the idea of being a parent. You heard about how your great-grandparent had your grandparent with a friend, and the two would co-parent to raise them. This inspired you, and you realised you didn’t need a partner to be a parent. And so that is what you do. You and a close friend agree to raise a baby together, in a completely platonic relationship. The child would still grow up in a supported and loving home, and no one said that there had to be romance involved to look after a baby together. You provide them with anything they need, just as your parents had done for you. It was easy to see that you had a lot more in common with your grandparent than your parent. You loved their life of luxury, especially how posh and expensive everything was. You knew you wanted a life like this. You always had a strong sense of right and wrong, and relished in honesty and truth. You decided you would become a lawyer, and fight for what was right. Plus, the job paid well so you’d be able to afford your luscious dream home. Your best friend as a child came from a wealthy family, so you bonded over your love of materialistic goods. The other sim never quite lived up to your expectations. You wanted them to be perfect, and they weren’t. What made it worse was that your older sibling seemed to find the perfect partner while you were both at school. How was that fair? Not only that, they had better grades than you, and more friends. Anything you could do, they could do better. You were both given the exact same opportunities as children and raised the same, so it seemed wrong that they were better than you. But the one thing they couldn’t take from you was your music. That was the only thing you knew you were better at than them. Through your teen years, when you weren’t stuck on bad dates, you were in your room playing one of your instruments. When you became a young adult, you and your sibling cut ties and didn’t really interact with each other at all. You were also still on the hunt for a perfect partner. You continue to date around, but are faced with failure. How could it be so hard to find someone to love? You eventually decide to put your dating life on hold and focus on yourself. You have always enjoyed being active and sporty but never really concentrated on it as you were so preoccupied with dating and your music. But since you weren’t dating, you could bring your attention back to fitness and wellness. Lo and behold, you bumped into someone at the gym. Someone you never expected to be interested in. Someone so different from you and your family. But this sim captured your interest and really excited you. Could it be the love you were looking for all along? After your engagement and career success, you decided it was about time you made amends with your sibling. You realised that happiness didn’t come from other people and there was no use comparing yourself to them. Happiness comes from within and you strive to become the best version of yourself.

Being an only child meant you always had your parents’ attention, and you loved it. You weren’t a difficult child but you were very playful and never took things too seriously. At school, you were known as the class clown and never put too much effort into your studies. You were able to get into university by the skin of your teeth, not that you were too interested in getting the degree. You wanted to go so you could live the ultimate student experience. Drinking, partying, exploring yourself. That was probably the reason why your studies didn’t last too long. But you weren’t really too worried about that, and you still continued to live the same way. Getting juiced at clubs and spending your nights with strangers, anything to have a bit of fun. You made money by doing some stand up gigs at different venues, and even dabbled in DJ'ing at nightclubs. Things went on like this for a while, until one night, something changed. You were expecting a baby with a random stranger. And they didn’t want the baby. Even though it wasn’t anything you’d anticipated ever wanting, the idea of having a child of your own felt… nice. You agreed that you would take the baby in and raise them by yourself, without the other parent. You saw it as a sign that it was time for you to grow up and mature. You had to support this new little person who only had you to rely on, and you refused to let them down. You stopped partying as frequently and spoke to your parent about a job in the music industry. They made it big playing music, and you had always loved all the songs you’d heard at the clubs through the years. You wanted to produce and mix your own tracks. It was a lot more sustainable than being a DJ, and it meant you could still spend some evenings out doing your stand up routines. They never got a real job or fully settled down, and you felt a bit embarrassed that you were brought up in your grandparent’s house since they never bought their own home. You decided early on that you would strive to be better than the legacy they left behind. You would work towards big achievements, in both your professional and personal life. You decided that when you have children, you would always do whatever you could to help them achieve and set them up for success. You started by thinking about where your parent went wrong, and worked hard to do better. You’d get As in school and actually finish university. The idea of getting juiced and woohooing with strangers was something you decided you’d never do. Everything you would do, you wanted to do it properly and like a real adult. Your children would learn to be responsible and have a parent they can fully rely on. You always had an appreciation for the finer things in life, and would often be seen turning your nose up at whatever seemed below you. You didn’t have the most friends because of this, partly because you never saw them being as good as you, and partly because no one liked your attitude. You didn’t mind though, you wouldn’t want to be seen with anyone or anything lower than your worth. Why settle for anything less?

At least, that’s what it seemed like to you, because you were never happy there. You felt drawn to the ocean, and believed that was where you were destined to be. So with your childhood best friend, your only friend, you decided to move to the beach at the first chance you could, to live by the sea. Although, when you got there, it wasn’t as perfect as you expected. The people living there had trashed the place and not only ruined the environment, but endangered the wildlife living there. You hated seeing what the beautiful island had become, and vowed to make it a better place again. When you weren’t cleaning or working to make the beach habitable again, you could be found knitting. It was the one hobby that kept you sane when you were living in the city. In the loud hustle and bustle of the night life, you could escape by focusing solely on your new knitting project. Watching the thread loop around your needle. Whenever you were stressed or tense, you would go back to knitting. After your hard work had finally paid off and the beach was immaculate, you met someone who you’d never seen on the small island before. They thanked you for cleaning their home and you discovered they were a mermaid. That was why you’d never seen them before, because the water was so filthy, it was uninhabitable to all sea life, including mermaids! But now the water was clean again, the mermaids and other wildlife could move back home. You fell in love with the mermaid and lived together peacefully and happily on your perfect little island.

You kept your identity as hidden as possible and would only show your closest friends who you really were. What made things worse was that your paranoia caused you to be really clumsy. You and your parent bonded over your love of caring for animals, and that wasn’t the only thing you had in common. They taught you how to knit and cross-stitch, and you loved every minute of it. Any way you could express yourself creatively, you would try it. As a teenager, after trying many different hobbies, you found that your true calling and passion was for art. You loved to paint and craft things. It was never your plan to sell your art or become famous, you just wanted to create. And create you did. Your home and vet clinic were covered in your artwork. Your parent couldn’t be more proud of the caring and artistic person you’d become. So you began to think, why care what others think? What’s the point in over-thinking and becoming paranoid about people judging you? You would always have your family and animals there for you, no matter what, and that was all you needed.

I know I just posted the last four of these but I wanted to make a post where people could see all of them at once, along with explaining the thought process behind some of my choices. I'm putting my rambles underneath a readmore but before that, I just want to say that anyone can use these designs (with credit of course) (and if you do please tag me or something just so I can see it)

First off, John! He's a bunny partially because of the buck teeth, and partially because of the Nic Cage reference. Why couldn't you put the bunny back in the box.

Rose is a cat because not only did she have a cat (Jaspers) but I also headcanon her as a therian. She gets to be a catgirl.

Dave is a bird because when I was in the process of deciding species, I mentioned the lack of birds and two of my friends immediately went "bird dave bird dave".

Jade is a dog, because of Becquerel, and her personality seems very dog-like. Plus I haven't gotten to that part but I think she canonically becomes part dog at some point. Whatever, she deserves a tail to wag.

Aradia and Tavros are... very simple. A ram and a bull, just like their zodiac signs imply.

Sollux is a snake, because his typing quirk involves changing his s's in some way. Plus it just felt right.

Kanaya is a bat, because she is a literal lesbian vampire furry. That's it.

Karkat is a cat, because his name has "kat" in it and I thought making him an angry little kitty would be extremely funny. I was right.

Nepeta is a cat because anything else would be utterly wrong. Look at her. Canonically two seconds away from being a catgirl. I also headcanon her as a therian.

Terezi is a dragon, because she already roleplays as one, although I didn't give her wings because I'm pretty sure those are a God Tier Thing. On a side note, I headcanon that she paints her nails, and here she paints her spikes. Candy red.

Vriska is a snake because she's a huge bitch. I love snakes in real life, but they seem to be a trope of traitors. Plus, as I noticed after deciding her species, John's item is an apple (representing the "original sin") and Vriska manipulates him throughout the comic. I love unintentional symbolism.

Equius is a horse. Like Nepeta, I really had no other choice. I also have no idea how to draw horses. My friends all wanted me to put him in a crop top but I'm not doing that. ...Maybe another time.

Gamzee is a goat, because my friends also suggested it, and because Capricorn is a goat-fish thing.

Eridan is a skunk, because I showed a picture of him to my friend who doesn't read homestuck and told them to assign him an animal. He stinky.

Feferi is an axolotl, again at the suggestion of my friends who did read homestuck. I think it fits her. :3

Im telling you guys about my theory on evadare and what the void is(threat/j)

for context(according to what i heard from people who are in rems server): the events of evadare and xrun are REAL events that actually happened to Rafe. this is confirmed

The Void is a VERY big mystery, y'know? like, vaguely gestures. the two main things ive seen are: Is Whats Going On In It Real and Whats Happening.

Heres my thoughts on what it is, and i even have Evidence!!!

I think the void is a weird pocket dimension, in that bermuda triangle-esc thing we see the ship shipwreck into, that projects the viewers traumas and fears into reality as a form of Nightmare, and the way to beat it/get out is to "beat your nightmare". weird right?

this is in Rems video titled "Incredibox || Evadare Chapter III - Void || Announcement"

Now onto why i think the void projects peoples traumas and fears and to why i think its Not Real!! in that order

Do you see those warning triangles that say "OXYGEN LOW"? those are the same warning triangles we see in the Galaxy Bonuses on Rafes space suit

and have you noticed the Void gasmasks name? its 072021. 07/2021. July 2021. its a date, and if you look at all of rems youtube posts during that time, you can see that they all relate to Galaxy:

Nearly suffocating to death in space, only being saved by either his friend sacrificing himself or Aries stepping in, Must have been traumatic for Rafe. and seeing him die(again depending on what you believe) would be terrifying!!

this friend, seen in both the 2nd galaxy bonus and evadares 3rd bonus. Rafe has to see nightmare crush his friend. the next screenshot is from voids 1st bonus, right before it happens

His friend dying is either a severe Trauma to Rafe or a severe Fear. either way, the void takes advantage of it. Now onto whats actually a fear.

Capitan(and his crew by proxy) is one of the only allies Rafe has in this entire journey, and you can see this in his sound in the mod too!! him Telling Rafe that he should stay and he will be kept safe.

it makes sense that seeing him die would be a major fear of Rafe.

And now that we went into what the Void Does, lets go into if its real or not. as i said i don't think it is, and the secret is in the sprites/voids bonus!!

Look at the sprite between Nightmare and Jacko.

They're similar, but Noticeably different!! nightmares eyes and mouth are different, and the shapes his sprite is comprised of are bumpy and rough, compared to Jackos face and smooth/clean sprite-work.

and another: notice the differences between gasmask and 072021(along with 072021 being a incarnation of Rafes trauma from galaxy)

different outfits. but thats not really one im paying attention to tho, despite it being worth noting.

what i want to talk about is their Animations!! gasmasks only animation is his head moving up and down to the rhythm of his sound, and his mask lenses fogging up as he exhales. while 072021's animation has the cheeks of his mask puff up and sink in as he inhales and exhales!! very noticeable difference. especially considering the point i made before

now onto the most notable point:

Rafes cuts on his face are completely missing.

we can clearly see in Voids 1st bonus that he has the cuts on his face he gained in Xrun:

but later, in the same bonus, As SOON as he enters the void and we can see his face, they are GONE COMPLETELY:

you may say its a mistake and rem forgot, but she included the blood spatter on rafes face he got from Capitan dying at Nightmares hands, his cuts stayed the entire time in xruns bonuses and the beginning of Voids, so they are an important detail in his design!!

The blood spatter is even in his sprite!! theres no way rem would include the BLOOD FROM CAPITAN DYING and THE SLIT IN HIS EYEBROW and not include the cuts on his face

That concludes this VERY long post about my theory!!!! i hope you guys consider this :DDDDD

ah fifth house.. how I love you so.. (and how I will need multiple parts to analyze you properly <3)

The fifth, Heart of the Emperor and Watchers over the River... that means a lot more when you... A). Know anything about the Emperor

B). See the word "River" and go "Ohhhh!"

So, Heart of the Emperor! Once again, I find it interesting just the choice of words specifically. I mean, of the houses, you have "Emperor's Strength", "Emperor's Hope & Sword", "Emperor's Heart", "Emperor's Reason", "Joy of the Emperor" and then just "Keepers of the Tome/Tomb" for the Eighth and Ninth respectively. For the Fifth, heart is a peculiar choice. Of course, I had to consult my favorite method to deduce the meaning ->

But, I had a crisis. Searching for mentions of the word "Heart" in the bible gives you... less specific answers than most would like. Seems like, unless I want to slog through a billion single word mentions, I would have to really switch gears. Incredibly however, I tripped into the right answer (as I have many a time in the past). I was going to go the the Locked Tomb Wiki (that helps me with writing these posts ALL the time), but instead of typing "The Fifth House Wiki" I hit enter too early, and, incredibly, found that sometimes the easy route is the correct route. See I know my zodiac signs off the top of my head, my mom used to pull out the dusty books and explain the details, I know my birth chart, hell, I've READ Homestuck! So, I don't know how it escaped me so long, but I really REALLY should've been going down THAT house route. For those who don't take an idle interest in the goings on of Zodiacs, and also don't have incredibly well read zodiac-believing family members, you might not know that, among other things, the Zodiac signs have bodily associations. Of these, the one we should be interested in is Leo

See, okay, Leo = Heart, what does that mean for our Fifth house search? Well, ANOTHER zodiac thing is zodiac HOUSES. Your in-depth definition of what these mean is probably better received from someone who's much more into zodiacs than I, but all you have to know is there's 12 zodiac signs, and 12 houses. Each sign has a House it's associated with, and wouldn't you know it, the fifth house is Leo! A little messy, but you can see the association is there! I mean, obviously there's some extended explanations I am clearly lacking on here, but look at that! I can find answers sometimes! Now, that's a lot for one post, but y'know, we're getting somewhere. Stay tuned for some more deep deep 5th house diving from yours truly... Also, let me know if you guys are keeping up with these posts! Just My Thoughts Pt. 4

Magic/Teams

Sometimes I just wish that Fairy Tail would use some spells/magic more wisely. Or even have more unison raids. I wonder if Hiro Mashima forgets about them sometimes or just doesn’t care about them as much as the basic spells/magics.

Examples:

Lucy and Juvia did a unison raid and literally never mentioned it again. I feel like it could’ve been used in so many battles to at least give them the upper hand. Not to mention, this was the very first (I believe) unison raid shown in the anime/manga. Honestly, I feel like their relationship is underrated and overshadowed by “love rivalry.” I think they make a pretty cool duo.

Natsu is one the characters that I think relates to this a lot. He essentially consumes different elements (even though it makes him sick afterwards) and is able to use that power during battles. I think he could’ve used those more often. Lightning is one that Natsu does end up using a few times which I am very pleased with. However, he could use the black flames from Tenrou Island arc more since he did empty out his magic powers to consume it. I think having these could’ve made him a lot stronger if he used them often.

Cana used Fairy Glitter a few time. I feel like she could’ve utilized it more since Mavis is willing to give her the power to save Fairy Tail. I think she could’ve also used her card magic more often than displayed. I know she’s not a main character but she has some input in the story. I loved it when she saved everyone during the Tartaros arc with her quick thinking. It shows how smart she is despite being shown as a drunk carefree person.

Since Yukino, Lucy, and the Princess Hisui are celestial mages, I think they have the potential for one of the best unison raids. I know that they did Gottfried (I think that’s how it’s spelled) and a few other spells together, however I think they would’ve been wonderful if they worked together more often. I think that the 12 zodiac spirits used together has a lot of magical potential that wasn’t displayed in the show.

I have a lot more thoughts on this so I might make another post later.

As you know, 2024 will be the Year of the Dragon according to the eastern horoscope. This beast is noble and powerful, inspiring awe. Blank doesn’t particularly inspire anything other than a good mood, but, as Taranee would say: “there are also small dragons.”

(English is not my native language, so there may be mistakes. Please be understanding)

This costume and the image itself are taken from a series with the play (“Ambush at Torus Filne”). In it we learn about how the crystal appeared, giving the guards strength. The legend of compassionate dragons who relieved people from drought overlaps markedly with another legend. From Earth.

"The Jade Emperor Yu-di organized a race among the animals to determine the order of the zodiac signs. Such a powerful and energetic beast as the Dragon had every chance of becoming the first. But when he was close to the finish line, he saw a village that was suffering from drought. He flew over clouds and caused rain to help starving people.

The dragon continued on his way, but saw another village - it was threatened by flooding. He took pity on the residents, swallowed the water and only then continued on his way.

Just before the finish line, the Dragon saw that the Rabbit was being chased by the Wolf. To save the Rabbit, the Dragon let him go ahead. And so it happened that the strong and powerful creature finished fifth in the race, after the Rat, Ox, Tiger and Rabbit."

In the "W.I.T.C.H" version, four dragons representing the elements were imprisoned in the mountains because they dared to help people without asking permission from their Emperor. It turns out that in both legends the Dragon suffered from his own kindness?

This is partly true. And in fact, this is not the worst moral, although at first glance it does not seem so. By helping someone, you may actually miss an opportunity or get into trouble. No matter how much we wish that life would encourage noble deeds more.

But altruism should not be idealized. There's nothing wrong with being aware of the risks. Belief in a “just world”, where everyone is rewarded according to their actions, very often leads to disappointment and the thought “if something bad happened to me, I probably wasn’t good enough.” And to devaluing other people's troubles.

There is no kind of universal justice in the world and no clearly working karmic slaps on the head. However, there are other people, good and not so good. What you do may resonate with them. For example, a good deed performed in spite of any difficulties. And then real magic can happen, accessible even beyond the boundaries of legends.

I sincerely wish you to find a common language with yourself, to love yourself (within adequate limits). Find a solid foundation of confidence under your feet. And then no difficulties in life will become insurmountable for you.

If after this you find the strength and time to support other people, to inspire them with your example is wonderful. If not, this will not make you a bad person. Healthy selfishness is a wonderful thing. And good deeds should not be forced. __________________________

I have long been attracted to garlands with dried orange slices. They are so warm and cozy. I wanted to add them to at least one of the New Year's arts :3

This idea later developed into the concept of natural Christmas tree decorations. Still, the Middle Ages reign on Meridian. It is unlikely that there is such an abundance of plastic toys there as we have now (the main thing is not to wonder whether there are citrus fruits in this fictional world).

But I still added a garland and balloons, I couldn’t resist. Maybe the girls brought it from Earth (making sure that everything would run on batteries) :D

Meet my JJBA OC- Synth!

Meet my gremlin! (art done by @ahoge-fish​)

This is my OC Synth! I made her back when i was 13 years old (27 as of this post, going on 28 soonish) So I’ve had her for more than half my life! She has her own original story with its own lore, so for my JJBA Fanfic I’m working on, I smashed the two worlds together and blended their lore till well mixed.

One thing you need to know about Synth is that she doesn’t come from the JoJo universe! She’s a reality traveler! Synth is in the middle of a terrible war which is spreading across the multiverse and she is trying to stop it. That means finding answers and power to push and hold her foe back. Could that mean that Stands hold the answer she’s looking for? Possibly! Its quite funny, but, she doesn’t have a Stand at all! She has a sister power to Stands which lets her interact and see them. Will I tell you what that is here? Nope! That’s for you to find out! Synth was made be alien’s who wanted to hurt people. She was built to think and learn, but knowing how dangerous that was they built her with a ‘open memory’ program, meaning they could change her thoughts and feelings on the fly to ensure zealotry to their cause. The problem that occurred for her creators is that, she woke up before they realized it and dismantled most of the program and prevented them from manipulating her and turning her off, so when she was launched at Earth for a ‘prototype test run’ she woke up and realized what they wanted her to do was wrong and sided with the humans instead.

Sadly another foe came into the picture as she wasn’t the only prototype sent out. What’s the foe? You’ll find out in the fanfic!

Synth’s ultimate dream is to be completely human, hence why her latest model looks exactly like a human, though her outfit for her part 3 entrance looks like:

"My king!" Lacerta shouted, giving Scorpio an exaggerated bow as the duo approached the throne. "I come bearing a lost child!"

"Don't shout!" Scorpio shouted back, taking his legs off the armrests of his throne. "Lost child? Who?"

Lacerta patted the top of Cassie's head. "This child!" 

Scorpio leaned forward, squinting. "Oh! Isn't this the kid that's under my sister's care?" 

"Yes, the human girl?" Cancer asked Lacerta as the two of them approached the throne. "Cassie, wasn't it?"

Cassie nodded. "Me and Gemini were exploring your kingdom but we got separated. I thought the best course of action would be to get to your palace and wait for her here, since the two of you are close?"

"You thought right," Scorpio said with a small smile. "You're more than welcome to stay here until my sister arrives. Lacerta!" He shouted, and Lacerta snapped to attention. "Contact my sister. Tell her that her guest is under my care."

Lacerta gave his king a playful salute. "Yessir!" 

Scorpio and Cancer turned to look at Cassie. 

"Well, Cassie," Scorpio said, and it was then Cassie realized what he and Cancer were actually doing—playing chess. "Care to join me in a game?"

"Oh, no thank you." Cassie shook her head. "I tried learning, but I never really picked up chess."

"That's alright," Cancer said, picking up the chess pieces and moving them to their correct positions. "Perhaps you're better off not playing against Scorpio—my son is quite the strategist."

Scorpio chuckled, raising one of his hands. A white pawn scooted forward two spaces, seemingly by itself. Cassie looked closer, and saw that both the pawn and the area around Scorpio's hand were glowing a faint purple.

"Telekinesis," Scorpio said, noticing Cassie's stares. Both his hand and the pawn stopped glowing, and Scorpio nodded towards his father. "Your turn."

Cancer squinted, scrutinizing the board, before moving his pawn.

"Chess is a game of strategy," Scorpio said to Cassie, manipulating another piece. "You must always look ten steps ahead. Always be ten steps ahead."

Cassie nodded hesitantly, as more and more pieces flew across the board. Every time Scorpio made a move, he hesitated, observing the entire board. Cancer was a bit more reckless, more sure of himself.

And apparently this tactic worked in Cancer's favor, as the white pieces on the board began to dwindle, the black pieces beginning to advance towards Scorpio's side. Cancer smirked, confident in his abilities. Scorpio only smiled back knowingly. 

"Sometimes it may seem like you are backed into a corner," Scorpio said, his hand hovering over a piece. "And your enemy has the upper hand. But it is during this time..." He slid his queen over a square, knocking the black king over. "Your enemy is the most susceptible to attack. Strike them in the places they will not notice."

Cancer grumbled in irritation, but smiled. "Well done, my son. I must say, I don't think it'll be very long until you'll beat Aquarius at a game."

"Another round? I'll let you win this next time," Scorpio said, sweeping his hand across the board. All the pieces scooted back to their original places, except now Scorpio was playing as black and Cancer was playing as white.

"You promised me that last time." But Cancer did take hold of a pawn and began to move his pieces.

"Cassie, have you any friends or family back in the mortal realm?" Scorpio asked, moving a bishop. "It's been so long since we were mortals. Sometimes we forget what it's like to be human."

Cassie thought. She thought back to her family, all of whom were 'normal' human beings, no star eye, no mystical powers. Her mother, who would give her long, meaningful talks if she was unsure on what to do with her Zodiac problems. Her father, who would go on long, rambling tangents with her about space and the stars. Her brother, who would beat her constantly in Mario Kart and who would make her hot chocolate whenever she stopped by his work.

"My family...well, we're really close," Cassie said, lacing her fingers together. "I...I don't know what I would do without them. I saw Gemini and Aries and your mother talk during Capricorn's party. All of you seem really close as well."

Scorpio nodded, moving a rook. "We are very close, though it took a long while for us to become that way. When I first became a Zodiac, I was very distrustful of others. Aries even more so. Neither of us truly bonded with other Zodiacs until Cancer, Virgo, and Gemini arrived."

"Gemini, Virgo, and I all knew each other in our mortal lives," Cancer spoke up, shifting on the ground where he was sitting. "You could say we were the glue that binded Scorpio and Aries together."

Cassie nodded. "And my friends...well, first, there's Ellie. She's the excitable one. Always so happy and bubbly, and she always knows how to cheer me up. And then there's Leena. She's kind of the creepy one, but she doesn't mean any harm. I love both of them dearly. Sometimes they help me with my own Zodiac adventures."

"Good friends are a valuable treasure," Scorpio said, capturing one of Cancer's pawns. "Cherish them. My friends are—well, they're idiots sometimes, but their hearts are in the right place. Have you met Sagittarius yet?"

"No. I did meet Capricorn though. Are you guys close?" Cassie paused, looking sideways at Scorpio. "Gemini was teasing Aries at the party...something about Sagittarius and Aries having a crush on him?"

Scorpio let out a bark of laughter. "Oh, that? Aries has had a crush on Sagittarius for the past...one hundred years or so? We have a bet pool centered around when Aries is finally going to confess to Sagi."

"Hold those that are dear to you, Cassie," Cancer said. "Protect them with all of your heart."

Cassie swallowed, and nodded. How was it that these Zodiacs, though they were so different from hers, still maintained the same values as hers?

"CASSIE!" Someone shouted, running up to them. It was Gemini, looking very distraught. Asclepius was nestled around her shoulders, hissing in irritation. "I'M SO SORRY!" 

It almost looked like she was going to give Cassie a hug, but composed herself at the last second. "Ahem. Sorry. I—uh—um. This was not supposed to happen. Anyway—do you wanna...go...?"

Cassie nodded, standing up. "Yeah, let's go. Goodbye Scorpio—thank you for having me! Goodbye Cancer!" 

Gemini scooted over to Scorpio, booped his nose (much to the latter's chagrin), and gave her father a quick hug. "Bye, guys!"

Lacerta appeared at Gemini's side. "Let me escort you to the portal, shall I?"

"Hey, um..." Gemini awkwardly looked over at Cassie. "Sorry about...losing you in the kingdom. I never intended for it to happen—I swear."

"It's fine, really," Cassie said, Asclepius hissing in joy towards her. "I found my way back, didn't I?" 

"Yeah, but—" Gemini groaned. She let Asclepius crawl into her hand, and let the snake crawl onto Cassie's shoulder. "I was supposed to be your protector until you leave. I let you down."

Cassie smiled, grabbing for Gemini's hand. Gemini, a bit surprised, held onto it. "It's okay. I'll live."

Unlike Aro, Marcus has full control over his gift and is not forced to see every single persons bonds unless he wants to.

Marcus inspires a sense of fear and respect upon anyone he interacts with, out all of his brothers the guard considers him to be the most ‘kingly’.
