the crown is back

metaphorically

so everyone knows that the Ice King began as a twisted character - kidnapping, harassing, etc. - which we all more or less accepted as the crown's influence

in fionna and cake, i hypothesize that Simon will also end up doing awful things - hurtful and intentionally cruel even - which will mirror his state under the crown

the same way ice king started out as a villain but with enough care from the community around him, he stopped kidnapping princesses, which hey progress

then simon will start out likely as the villain, an awful wretch who just causes problems for people around him - but unlike the ice king who was mostly an annoyance at his worst

i believe that simon is possibly going to damage every single relationship he has as he spirals into his PTSD driven state

and we're just never gonna know who simon was before the crown, theres no going back, and we're not going to get post mushroom war, pre ice king simon either

we're gonna get the secret third thing, the simon who doesnt have a literal crown to blame but who remains altered still - not quite in his right mind

and this time, there's no answer, there's no quick fix, there's no enemy

it's just Simon

this time, everyone just has to live with this new simon and maybe in time, just like ice king, he can remember how to be kind

AITA for eating dead meat? (Cw: apocalypse, cannibalism)

Hiya. So we're in the middle of a goddamn apocalypse, and some of my party members have some trouble with my eating habits.

I (m, died in 20's but now *technically* in my thirties), am part of a group of travelers, and the amount of dead bodies in the country far outnumbers the living, let alone any surviving settlements with good rations. All that is here are the colours and rivers of blood for miles.

I don't know if it's because I'm well preserved for my deadness so it's jarring, or if its seen as bad in some cultures, but i usually get freaked out at when i chop up the slain for food. Nobody bats an eye when its a dead animal, but oooh, suddenly it's a problem if its human meat! In the appcalypse!

And i don't eat our allies when they die! (Or well, i just take a small piece if there's any left. But just so they can be with me after they are gone.) We bury them properly.

Me, personally? I have allies that are living. I have my own rations, sure, but doesn't it make sense to give the clean stuff to the people that still contract diseases from dead meat, and leave the shit for someone like me? Even if i hate some of the pricks I've been forced to move with, even if i almost get killed (again) taking shots and they trigger my shitty mushroom rot curse, I'll still give them my non-corpse rations when they ask me for it. I've starced enough when i lived to know it sucks.

I don't even know why i am asking. Meat is meat. Maybe I'll stop if you all have such a problem.

Ok, so i juste finished the book of Be More Chill.

(No, it was 2 weeks ago, but anyway)

And first, i didn't see the musical, but for the songs i heard (all of them, repeatedly in the last 4 years) the end is not the same at all.

And second, i have flashbacks of It cosplayers doing the song "be more chill" (well, i have flashback of losers cosplayers singing the rich part in sellphone hour, but that's not the point)

And i just remembered that when i joined TikTok there were so many Bowers gang and losers cosplayers, and i just feel nostalgic of the lockdown.

And i had these cosplayers i loved, and they deleted all their It videos and now I'm just sad to see how time pass... they had an appcalypse AU, a band AU, a SoundCloud rap AU, and all of them are gone. And it's like drifting away from friends even tho we weren't friends (i mean. I didn't know them, they didn’t know me...)

i think you deleted the post where u were asking about how to title fics but i was 3/4th the way through before i realized so im sending an ask. idk if you still want this, but i gotta dump this SOMEWHERE, so now you're stuck with multiple examples of how to title a fic from my own personal experiences. this gives me an excuse to ramble about them a bit. im sorry

okay but really here's the tldr before i start; i only go for lyrics when i really like the song/line and it fits with a central idea, but ultimately? i bullshit it--but with intricate methods. let us begin...

example 1) rolling with a theme

let me start with one of my favorite fics im writing to get me going. the title: do you remember hanging up the stars. this process was honestly very tedious, but im gonna try and put it in a simple format.

so rolling with a theme. this fic is a canon divergence au, where hell is slightly more competent and kicks crowley out of his flat and replaces him with shax like a month after the appcalypse. so pretty quickly! therefore, this throws crowley very off-kilter, thus resulting in aziraphale picking up the very obvious hints and deciding to Make crowley move in with him instead of Talking about it. its a longfic, and i knew from the start that i wanted this title to be grand And related. so, i made a list of the themes that would be explored.

- crowley and his relationship with the stars

- trust in multiple facets (humans and their competence, their trust in each other now that theyre unemployed and recovering, etc)

- non-verbal communication, despite its flaws, can be one of the best ways to show love

- romance manifesting in different forms but are all valid

so i have that list, and i pick the one that's the most important--for this, i chose the stars. then i diffused THAT--what about the stars makes it interesting? what makes crowley long for them so much? i chose distance--crowley, in the show, has a very dettached attitude towards his angelic self. he doesnt hold that self to any higher importance, because why should he? and yeah, he's valid in this, but he also ends up putting off his stars to that angel, not him. he thinks that because he took such pride, such responsibility for them Before, he shouldn't care now, that he should deny this part of hid past and make himself more miserable because of it. but he does want to take pride, he loved AND loves them so fucking much, and he's just hurting himself more the process. i want him to realize that his mark on the world shouldn't be a burden, shouldnt just be a silly little assignment from before the fall. that heaven wants him to forget, that hell wants him to be disgusted by it, that he's doing what they want. that, if fact, it would piss everyone off if he actually owned up to it. i want aziraphale to help him realize it. i want aziraphale to encourage him. so that's where the title comes in: "he looked at you like you were hanging the stars", but Tweaked. taking a kind of common line and twisting it so it fits This. so. wow i went on tangent. im sorry. the rest will be a lot shorter and actualy helpful 😭 the point is that you could treat the title as a summary but even SHORTER. goes with what sounds right, and also don’t think about it too much. OKAY MOVING ON

example 2) rolling with a theme (song lyric edition)

okay next example. title: hold me like you’re scared to. it’s a lyric from the song ‘use me like you do’ by noah floersch. it’s a titanic ‘au’ (don’t judge me please 🥹) about aziraphale and crowley on the boat and getting through millennium of fear of being together while also on a detective noir like adventure. themes are easier to see here: the fear of being caught. afraid of showing your love. and I’d already happened to have a song I really liked, but I could really just listen to any song at any one point and be very inspired. you can also study lyrics from places you really like, if you REALLY want it to be a lyric :)

example 3) resonating with a Word

is there a word that’s repeated a lot in the fic? a word that has Meaning? a single concept summarized in a word that’s important here? that’s a title. you have a good title. example title: please. it’s very centered on begging, and the mc has like heavyyyyy memory problems and is trying to grasp the little wisps they have that are slowly slipping away. like stated before, you don’t have to think about it too hard. wanna make the summary the definition of that word? double whammy!

example 4) canon line/something from the fic

this is for very specific things but let’s say you’ve got like. A really good catchphrase in the fic you came up with. or the fic centers around a diverged canon scene. just pluck it and use it! example title: burn fast, burn bright. one of the reoccurring phrases is the metaphor ‘the candle that burns twice and bright burns half as long’. I just condensed it for the title. :)

and here's a couple tips on what Not to do:

- don’t make it too long. 1 because it’s harder to search, 2 because it’s harder to remember, and 3 bc it would honestly be a handful. it’s a preference, but considerable.

- make sure it relates to the fic in Some way, in literally any capacity. in the same ballpark, don’t

- make sure you like it. you’re going to be refering to the fic with that name for the rest of time.

Had a dream about. I guess a world ending apocalypse? There's a lot going on. I don't know what caused the apocalypse but I did survive it I suppose. There were zombies and stuff, I think? And the sky was like.... permanently dark. The sun was out and clearly visible, and was HUGE in the sky even - it looked almost like a flat texture of the kind of image you'd find on google where the sun looks very orange. I watched it rise in the dark sky. We had a pretty full house too, not just me and my family. I had to enter a dark room and fend off a zombie.

My dream also showed me the intro to someone's YouTube channel apparently, must've been watching it in the appcalypse. They had a BIG pet rat. Big and cuddly and they were like baby talking it and then it cuts to a close up shot of someone's eyes being totally black, and then the rat being like. Feral and fucked up looking, before cutting back to the cuddly rat.

I made already a similar post months ago, but since it was before ChoT at least one third (if not half) of the readers I have now didn’t know my fanfics existed, so I’m remaking it.

Let's say that I feel like a hypocrite. If you read the post i reblogged yesterday, everything I wrote there is 100% true: I planned Still insists she sees the ghosts and Endless Sunlight in detail (kinda) before writing, but... I didn’t with How (not) to end a feud.

If you haven’t read the fanfic and you want to do it, stop reading this post now since I will spoil the main plot twist. If you don’t want to read it, or you don’t mind spoilers, go on.

The only thing I had planned before writing were Anna’s opening sentence and the fact that at some point Grace would poison Kit, but after that the blank. How to go on? Bad ending or somehow a good ending in a way that makes sense?

This was December 2021, and something unexpected happened: I came back home to visit my family for Christmas and I got covid.

I was alright, but I couldn’t leave the house, and so to entertain myself I started reading The Walking Dead comics I bought some months before.

There is a character who says that before the appcalypse she was an architect, but became a doctor assistant for necessity.

Saying that I felt thunderstruck is an understatement. I bombarded @fimproda phone with messages and audiomessages explaining my new plan: I had it, Grace would ran to the US, travel to Kansas, become the doctor's assistant and after some years, when he dies, she takes over his job. The response was enthusiastic and I also put in the idea that Grace should be pregnant when she leaves (because with all the unprotected sex it doesn’t make any sense if she isn't) and that’s when my friend suggested one of the best ideas of the whole fic.

"I'll do you one better: the doctor's name is Isidore and that’s why Grace calls her son Isidore."

So, @anon who said that liked the explanation of the name Isidore, you know who to thank.

The rest is history, but it was weird because for the first time I created a totally different plotline when I was writing since I didn’t have a clear idea of where the story was going, and I say that I love it.

Maybe I will do a similar rant about how Geranium changed from Gracetopher to Cecily and Grace develop a mother-daughter relationship with some Gracetopher scenes here and there, but at least after chapter 5 because it would be a huge spoiler.

to me they're close enough that they're just not used to each other not being a part of their lives. oliver understands himself through how jodi sees him and vice versa as well. so when the jellyfish™️ comes around... he just disengages because he can't subject jodi to that burden but he doesn't really know how to exist without her. jodi just loves him so much that the idea of him not telling her about the jellyfish is so wildly fucking unbelievable to her that it actually supersedes the end of the world
