Whenever I'm rereading Tenko's past and I reach that part when he's on the floor over everything that happened to him and Doc Garaki looks at AFO and goes "should I fix him?"
The horror I FEEL. They're looking at a 5 years old and wondering if they should erase his emotions to "perfect him". Doc Garaki is stripping him of his humanity in such a casual way. Should I fix him? like he's broken for suffering over the death of his family, for grieving , for feeling conflicted because he is free of the house that abused him but they are all gone and he misses them.
They're about to change his name and surname and convince him that he was born to destroy and live in misery. They are about to cover him with the hands of his deceased family. They are about to offer killing people as comfort, nurturing the hole of hatred and rage in his chest for their own plans, but it isn't enough damage? Torture?
Should I fix him?
I'm sorry. It makes me want to cry. He's 5 years old. He has no one. His family failed him. Society failed him. Not even Overhaul was that cruel with Eri. Not even Endeavor was that cruel with Touya. No one has ever been that cruel in the bnha world.
He's offering to nomufy a 5 years old.

As someone who had dropped the manga way back but still know generally what’s happened, why do you hate the “Dark Deku arc” (besides that stupid name)
I think the basic idea - letting Deku react to the war by ditching everyone and break himself to become All Might 2.0 - was a fine one.
Deku's biggest flaw is his self-sacrificing, self-destructive, martyristic tendencies and his saviour syndrome, which is ironically both extreme self-lessness (as in not care about himself) and extreme selfishness (as in not caring about the feeling of others who do care about him). Letting this flaw play out until it leads to an epic downfall that the MC has to suffer so he can rise again is the bread and butter of hero stories.
But the problem was with the execution, and notably Horikoshi's biggest flaw as a writer - he's so scared of making Deku unlikable that every single time he pulls his punches, which in turn stunts Deku's character development. To me, this is the biggest problem of the arc - Deku's fall is so ambiguous that half the fandom is convinced that he could have gotten himself out just fine from the predicament he was in, and then "soloed" all of Class A if he made any effort. This ambiguity shows that it wasn't a real downfall.
Tumblr media
Another grave looming consequence of Deku's choices was the heart-breaking scene of him ditching All Might. Both Deku and All Might were meant to learn from this arc that the Symbol of Peace was a flawed concept, that it is insane to place the burden of a nation's security on a single person, no matter how powerful or driven. But despite building a perfect scene, Hori did nothing with it. Neither Deku, nor All Might ever fully confront the reality - they just reconcile, like nothing happened, Stain tells All Might that the Symbol was the right thing and it feels like there is nothing learnt.
Tumblr media
Dark Deku that was meant to be a tragic, sad figure of a child driven to the breaking point by the burden he's carrying as a legacy and the pressure both external and self-imposed to step into a role he cannot be and shouldn't ever have to be ready for, becomes nothing but an empty "dark aesthetic" to please Deku-stans who wanted him to be "cool" and "strong" and "edgy".
When half the fandom doesn't realize that Dark Deku is a point in the narrative where Deku is ironically the weakest in heroic spirit - he's driven by fear, by a selfish obsession to do it all alone, by wanting to deny others their ability to step up as heroes because they are not strong enough, when he's slowly becoming everything he was the antithesis of at the beginning of the story and it still goes over the head of the audience, the point was not well-made.
There are a number of other problems with the arc:
Class A's aftermath gets skipped - we get zero emotional pay-off for big things that happened like Midnight's death, Aizawa losing an eye and leg, how the Dabi-reveal affects Shouto, how the class is impacted by the collapse of hero society, how the parents feel about their children being on the frontlines. Tons of issues the war raised and never delivered on.
Deku's power-ups come too quickly and feeling largely "unearned". It led to a huge power-creep where Deku is nothing than empty recipient of free candy. There is no hype of him reaching "faux-100%" because it doesn't feel like he made any effort to get there. There is no learning curve, everything he tries succeeds immediately. It's boring. It cheapens everyone else's hard-earned progress. It’s frustrating how little sense of accomplishment there is now in the final arc as Deku uses all his powers together in a big power-demonstration. It’s just not satisfying to watch at all.
The HPSC plot that's been brewing in the background since the Licensing Arc fizzles into a non-sensical plot of a single assassin who takes out false heroes to uphold hero society. A person never referenced committing shady black-ops never alluded to, having no impact on the overall story. By Horikoshi's own admission, he basically ripped off the character and plot from an over-the-top assassin movie (Wanted) like the week before. Which really shows. This is one of my biggest disappointments of the arc. There was such a good build-up to exposing the rotten core of HPSC and it felt like it was set-up originally as a Hawks fall-from-grace-become-a-shadowy-operator kind of plot that would have given also Hawks a more satisfying post-war arc than "being optimistic to a fault". But I feel that just like with Deku, Horikoshi has the same issue with Hawks - being too afraid to make him unlikeable.
The Nagant-fight even as a fight is deeply unsatisfying and honestly feels like a Deku-circlejerk, where Nagant is beaten way too easily for all her hype, turned way too easily by the "irresistible heroism of Deku" who does something that every other hero in the story always did. Like, I hope the end-game no-jutsu will be more satisfying.
The OFA-plot and vestiges are in the center, but still, we are given almost no reason to care about the vestiges or their relationship with Deku or the history of AFO vs OFA. The whole mystery of the 2nd and the 3rd ends in an unsatisfying reveal, where Deku doesn't have to do a damn thing again to get those two on his side.
I do like Class A showing up and the one chapter of flashback we get of them. Some of the fight is fun, some of it is extremely cringy though. The message is also wishy-washy. I think the fight should have squarely focused on the class refusing Deku seeing them as useless victims and telling him that he doesn't get to choose who cares about him. But again, 80% of it is just a "Deku-praise-fest".
Bakugou apology is great though and the highlight of the arc.
Deku's return and Uraraka's speech and the straw-manning of the civilians is again pretty terrible, and the only thing that carries those chapters is Horikoshi laying down thick the ham-fisted parallels.
So these are the main issues. I think the arc could have worked but it didn't because the overall execution was really bad. It had beautiful art and some compelling scenes / images, but didn't feel coherent.
But its biggest flaw was Horikoshi pulling his punches. Not letting Deku stumble, doubt, question, fail meant he learnt nothing and didn't get the kind of downfall after which you feel the sweet satisfaction of him standing back up again (these scenes tend to go to Bakugou).

I got a prompt for you! Prompt: Tired of the daily abuse he suffers, Izuku makes the choice to run away, hoping for his mother's life to get better once he's gone. Keep in mind this Izuku isn't blinded by the flashiness of heroics and gave up on it a long time ago.
So as Izuku wanders the streets alone, he meets up with some of the future LOV members such as Dabi, Toga, Spinner, Compress, ect.
Together they form a found family with a mission to work their way up to expose hero society and change it for the better (instead of whatever the hell the LOV were doing)
HELLO, I AM SO SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONG, SCHOOL AND MY BRAIN FUCKED ME OVER, BUT Y E S!!!!! I LOVE
Okay, imma be honest, a large part of this is going to involve toga, because I love her so much and she deserves so much better than she got, and she and izuku would’ve been such good friends if they had met earlier
Tw: for bullying and self esteem issues (a lot of self blaming) and as a general rule for my headcanons,,,,,, ✨angst✨
Kaachan and his ✨henchmen✨ had been getting worse lately. Well, ever since his “diagnosis,” it had been getting worse and worse, but izuku was about to reach is breaking point
Every day, he heard about how it was his fault that his father left, that no one loved or cared about him, that the world would be better off without him, that his mother would be better off without him.
He could see how tired she was, he could tell that the bills were starting to stack up, and that kaachan repeatedly busting his hearing aids was Not Helping.
Really, izuku knew they were right (they’re not, I’ll fight them). If he wasn’t such a burden on his mother, she’d probably be a lot happier. She’d probably smile more. Sing more. Hell, her husband wouldn’t have left her if it hadn’t been for him!
His mom worked long hours, so he’d often wander through the streets if he didn’t have too much homework. It was rather peaceful in the early hours of the morning when his mother had the night shift and izuku would find his only friends in the alley cats
That being said, izuku also knew it was rather dangerous in dark alleyways during nightfall. Especially for a quirkless kid. But, that had never stopped him before, and so, when he hears muttering from a few streets over, he silently, curiously, stupidly! Izuku, turn back now! The rational part of his brain reprimanded.
He didn’t listen
Eventually, he found a girl in one alley, only a few turns away from his, she seemed to be taking to herself?
Well. Izuku wasn’t one to judge. Especially when he did the same thing!
But she seemed to be in distress. Her muttering was getting louder, and seemed to be turning into a full on beat down of her own misgivings
Again, izuku could relate
He approached her, asking if she was okay. He made sure to stay several meters away, he might not have much self preservation, but he wasn’t stupid
She looked at him frantically. Oh kami, why did she have a knife?! (Please imagine the vine there) she was telling him to stay back, too
But again, when has izuku ever done what people tell him to?
He tells her his name and tries to reassure her that he’s not going to hurt her, that she’s safe
It takes a while, but she is eventually able to calm down a bit
It’s strange really, two kids who couldn’t have been out of middle school out in the middle of the night. But, they started to talk.
For the first time since he was 4, izuku had someone he could consider a friend? Well. Aside from the cats, of course!
Toga was so kind! And she was just as excitable as him! She really liked cute things, so he decided that he had to show her all the pictures of his alley cat friends!
She. Loved. Them.
He taught her how to get close with them! You just had to be a little patient! She wasn’t the best with that, but that was okay! She would do anything for a friend, and her new friend really liked these cats! So, she could totally be patient for them!!
It was worth it too! They were so cute, and izu-Chan looked even cuter holding them!! (Not an izutoga ship, she just loves cute things)
The two young teens (I imagine they’re like,,, 13 and 14 around now? Maybe 14 and 15? Toga runs away after she graduates middle school at 15, so like,,,, around there), as the weeks go on and they get to know each other, toga begins to open up about her family’s hatred and suppression of her quirk, and izuku tells her about his quirklessness, the bullying, and the stress he puts on his mother
She is incredibly protective of him. That’s her little brother/best friend/only person who cares about her/her person.
He’s the same with her, really, just shows it a bit differently. Has 1000000% written 100+ page PowerPoints on how once she is and that she can do anything she puts her mind to
She’s more action and physical based. She’s very affectionate, she hugs him as often as she can. They’re both touch starved, and she knows she’s not the best with words. So, she steals shit for him.
He doesn’t know that it’s stealing at first, when she shows up with a new notebook after kaachan burned another one. She doesn’t get why he’s so worried about her stealing at first. It’s only from big companies and corporations that could afford to lose a few notebooks every now and then. He just doesn’t want her to get caught though. But she’s safe! Really!!
They find Dabi a few months later. He’s older than them by 7 and 8 years respectively, and he’s kind of an asshole. But toga likes his spunk and disregard for the rules. And izuku likes that he doesn’t care about quirks
Dabi and toga shit talk katsuki and I will not be told otherwise. Izuku feels bad at first, but they kinda put it into perspective of like, “how would you feel if he was doing/saying this stuff to/about us?” And izuku just like >:0
Obviously it took a while, and he still doesn’t know that they made shirts with katsuki’s face in the 🚫 sign, but I like to imagine that they show up to pick izuku up from school wearing them and bakugku had a conniption
Toga and izuku don’t actually run away until toga’s graduation from middle school
Some of her classmates pulled a really asshole prank on her and she had a panic attack. She ran away from the ceremony thing and was later found by a frantic izuku and dabi (her brothers)
She told them that she couldn’t go back. That her parents were mad at, no, disgraced by her
Dabi was mad. “More bitch ass parents. The worlds just fucken’ full of them”
- dabi, 2xxx
He offers to kill them for her. Izuku tells him no :( shame.
Let’s just say that this is around the time bakugou says his infamous “swan dive” comment and the sludge villain incident (I know I think both toga running away and that whole deal would happen around the relative same few months, so let’s just push them together! Why not!)
And the three decide to pull a little disappearing act
Well. Mainly toga and izuku. Dabi pulled his disappearing stunt a while ago. He gives them pointers. Dramatic bitch
Let’s be real, the three of them are all dramatic bitches
Izuku leaves a letter to his mom, explaining that he’s sorry for putting her in such a difficult place, and that he hopes she can find happiness, and that he’ll miss her.
:((((((((((((
They end up crashing a couple towns away in an abandoned building. Not very safe, but. Abandoned. Sooo
Toga says that the building is just like them
Abandoned
Dabi tells her not to look too deeply into it, but izuku thinks about that statement a lot
Spinner and dabi both have like… 0 respect for heroes. -10 actually. But, spinner is quite interested by these three vagabond’s plan to expose corrupt heroes and make society a better place, so, he tags along.
Mr. Compress catches dabi trying to pick pocket someone.
It goes badly </3
Dabi’s slight of hand just needs a bit of practice, and who’s better to teach him than a world class thief?
No one. That’s who.
Mr. Compress cannot believe he’s going to have to parent these teens and young adults. Fuck man. Can he leave now? He didn’t ask for this, he just wanted to share some tricks to the next generation of thieves, now he’s listening to this green child explain their plot for world domination?!
Oh, what’s that? It’s not world domination? Fine. Guess he’s going to teach these four how to steal shit because he will not be caught dead with criminals who don’t know how to complete a heist
Obviously, they go after endeavor first.
They take great joy in destroying him.
What?? Just because they aren’t the league of villains doesn’t mean our vigilante crew doesn’t enjoy some sweet sweet revenge on those who have hurt their little make shift family!
Mr. Compress is not a dad. He’s just not.
Did he show izuku all his masks and listen to the boy nerd out about them and their different histories and design origins? Yes. Did he think it was adorable? Yes.
That means nothing though and you can’t prove anything!
Spinner and dabi are the “cool” big brothers
Read: fucking dumbasses with issues with authority
It’s fine
Toga and izuku are feral sinanon rolls with issues with authority
Mr. Compress went from following his father’s footsteps in living life as a thief to overthrowing the hero commission with these kids who are all over a decade younger than him
Love that for him.
Dabi learns how to make katsudon for izuku when he’s homesick
Izuku helps dabi and toga deal with their quirk issues
They have a few run ins with stain, (spinner fanboys)
Izuku starts making them gear!
I don’t know why I love izuku making gear and tech, but he’s just such a smart and chaotic lad that I think it’s perfect for him
Definitely hacks into U.A. And plays online chess with nezu
He’s getting better
Nezu has heard whispers of their little group, and is quite excited to see how everything plays out!
I hope you liked thisss!!! Again, I am SO SORRY that this took so long. I had it in my drafts for about a week and worked on it when I could, but brain and homework were djsjcinsignaj
I love this thoughhhh!! Sorry if spinner and mr. Compress are ooc, I really don’t remember their personalities too much 😅 but I hope it was okay anyway!!!

So, I kind of have mixed feelings about Villain!Izuku AUs.
On paper, yeah it would make narrative sense. The world treated him unfairly, the only friend he had is his main tormentor, his own hero told him his dreams are impossible, and was made to look incompetent in front of people after the Sludge Villain incident. If the world has cheated him and treated him poorly, why should he play by their rules?
The building blocks are there, but most of the time the execution is terrible.
The AUs people end up making are trying too hard to be edgy and bkdk, I even saw some comics of Bakugou acting shocked and surprised that Izuku became a villain.
Like bitch, you helped him on his villainous path, why're you surprised by this?
Yup, most Villain Deku AUs are very disappointing.
I think the biggest mistake they make is assuming that Bakugou would recognize his past behavior and feel guilty even before finding out Izuku was a villain.
I need to make this abundantly clear, Bakugou only "changed" once he got what he wanted in learning the secret of OFA. He wouldn't have felt guilty over how he treated Izuku because he never would have had a reason to. Even if you argue that he'd feel guilty about suicide baiting him (I have my doubts about this, but now isn't the time), that's one incident. Bakugou to this day justifies his behavior by saying it was because he was looking out for Izuku.
These are usually attempts to make the reader feel sympathy for Bakugou and not for Izuku who was the victim. Ever noticed that a good amount of Villain Deku fics are from Bakugou's POV?
For once I'd like to see a Villain Deku AU where Bakugou hasn't changed. That he gets exactly what's coming to him and everyone who's enabled his behavior gets a reality check.
(If anyone knows a fic like this pls drop the link)

I always knew Tenko was a spark of hope for Tomura, I get that Shigaraki was AFO creation but for him to be gone I feel like I lost my favorite character. He wasn't really healed or helped. It just feels like Tenko is a new character that we don't know. The character I know was Tomura Shigaraki. And it just feels like he is still suffering like he just ended in pain as just a vessel, no closure. I know he was Tenko but for the Shigaraki part to be swallow up is sad. I hope im understanding wrong
Look, I can’t tell you how to feel or change what your personal preferences are. I can’t. All I can do is explain my interpretation of the situation. And along with that, explain how my preferences and many other peoples preferences who, much like me, read this manga for the villains—bring about a different reaction to the Tenko/Tomura situation.
I can tell you that, from what I’m reading in your ask, you are taking the Tenko/Tomura situation very very literal. And you’re not supposed to. And I’ll explain under the cut.
Tenko and Tomura are literally the same person. They are the same. exact. person. I understand that it might feel confusing maybe with the way AFO phrased things this chapter, but I'll just link to these posts I made explaining that already instead of repeating myself (Post 1; Post 2).
"He wasn't really healed or helped. It just feels like Tenko is a new character that we don't know. The character I know was Tomura Shigaraki. And it just feels like he is still suffering like he just ended in pain as just a vessel, no closure."
No, the character you know is Tenko Shimura, turned into Tomura Shigaraki by AFO. The parts of Tomura that you like are from Tenko. Everything else about Tomura is just an identity tailor made from trauma.
Honestly tell me what do we know about Tomura Shigaraki that doesn't also apply to Tenko? What part of Tomura's personality is so separate from little Tenko that isn't just a personality warped by trauma and gaslighting and believing horrible things about himself?
His manga profile literally says he likes "nothing." NOTHING. NOT EVEN VIDEO GAMES, which we knew by that time that he did play them and took a liking to them. I'm pointing this out because....the author deliberately gave him very very few personality traits that aren't just the way he acts as a result of his trauma.
Tenko is just a name that is associated with different circumstances and a different part of his life, not a different person. Healing Tenko IS healing Tomura.
To say that healing Tenko is ignoring Tomura is just incorrect and not supported by what we know. Because they are not two different people. We literally saw Tenko's thoughts and feelings surface in Tomura's body this chapter. If they were different people, Tenko would not be slipping through the cracks of the AFO possession/takeover and making an appearance at all. He would just be a completely separate entity with a different body altogether. But that's not the case here. They are one person--just two different identities.
The idea here is for those identities to merge. Because little Deku and little Tenko having their moment in the vestige isn't going to undo all of the damage AFO did. But leaving Tomura as he is isn't going to erase his core personality that is Tenko. Tenko will have to heal from all the trauma he endured, AND have to heal from all of his experiences living as Tomura Shigaraki.
I honestly don't know where the "two different people" take came from tbh. It's a popular take, so I really don't understand it. In BNHA that isn't even remotely shown to be the case.
Literally the only difference between these two scenes:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
--is that Tenko/Tomura has two different names he's gone by. Aside from that, there is zero difference between those two scenes.
You know who else has different names?
Tumblr media
Touya. But oddly enough, I don't see the same treatment given to Touya saying that--Shouto healing Touya is just leaving Dabi to rot. Nobody is saying that (that I can see) because that's not the case. Touya and Dabi are the same person.
The only difference between Touya and Tenko is that the OFA/AFO plotline throws things for a loop incorporating the vestige plane/alternate world or whatever, so it leaves more possibilities up in the air. But BNHA is rather consistent in how it uses the child versions of characters. This has been done several times throughout the series, and nobody talks about how 5 year old Deku, Bakugo, or Shouto are somehow different people from their current selves. Their child selves are just used to portray genuineness and honesty. It's used for big moments that matter, JUST like with the conclusion of Touya and Shouto's fight. It's literally no different from that.
Also....I don't know why people want Tomura to remain Tomura. Tomura is miserable. Literally miserable all the time. He said it himself, he'll never feel good again. Why??? Do people want him to remain that way??? I don't get it. Tomura thinks he MURDERED his family. Tomura thinks he is only useful to destroy and take away. Tomura gets no relief from any of the grief he's carried right below the surface for 16 years. Tomura cannot stay the way he is. He literally cannot remain as AFO's little creation. He has to find himself. And he is Tenko Shimura, at his core, that is who he is. He can't be Tenko Shimura until he stops hating himself and hating everything else. Only then can the entire person be set free.
Him going by the name "Tenko" is not taking anybody's favorite character away. He's the same person.
Now...here is where I think personal preference is going to divide the fandom and the reactions:
The people who wanted Shigaraki to "power of friendship" his way out of the possession are very very likely going to be disappointed. Idk, I'm just being honest. This is a hero story and the main hero character's main challenge is saving. Tomura is not a sustainable identity, so bolstering and enabling that identity by making the League a source of strength all of a sudden doesn't really work with what's been set up to happen. It also like, completely contradicts a lot of the other League members' developments so far. And, even though Mirio's words triggered a DIFFERENT, unexpected memory in Tomura, his words are still important and still point out a flaw in the League as a group. Tomura needs help. Toga needs help. Touya needs help. Spinner needs help. And, literally all of them are in horrible situations right now. So how they, as a group, are supposed to be a source of strength for each other, how they are supposed to suddenly pull themselves out of their own misery to support Shigaraki in his, or Shigaraki doing the vice versa, is beyond me. I personally never saw that happening or predicted that happening, so I'm not the least bit surprised or disappointed here. I get being disappointed and wanting a different direction, but personally I'm not.
The upset I'm seeing to this are people who mostly wanted that type of route for the story to take. Maybe that's not the category you're in, but I'm just voicing my take on that. The League, while are definitely important to each other to an extent and are friends, are in no shape to be anything to each other right now.
However, I can't change how you or anybody else feels about the situation. There is some notable dislike for the possession situation, reasons that are too much to add onto this post. But I'm personally satisfied, REALLY satisfied with it. Tomura Shigaraki/Tenko Shimura is my favorite also, and I'm fully confident that he ain't goin anywhere.

Does Endeavor disappear in any of your AUs?
Any of them where Izuku is down with murder and knows Shouto or just has an idea that Endeavor sucks, he vanishes. The villain deku squad au features Shouto, Tenya, Izuku and Ochako murder him as a fun friend date before UA summer camp.

Hello!! Not so controversial, but personally, I think the wave of villain!Deku absolutely ridiculous. Sure, the story might be good and I'm not saying these authors are doing a bad job, it's just that Izuku as a character would never think of becoming a villain, despite his quirklessness. His whole character revolves around helping people and being kind, especially because he knows how cruel the world can be. So, those villain origin stories will never make sense, unless you practically strip him of his core and beliefs in the first place. Considering that, the vigilante!Deku fics make much more sense, especially if you want him to be morally ambigious but still Izuku at his core, helping people despite going against the law.
And tbh, I understand that fanfics are supposed to show an alternative to multiple situations, but I think there's a boundary within that, because getting rid of what makes that particular character interesting/special is just taking that character wholly out of the equation, and rather making an OC with the same name.
To add to that, someone should absolutely change the plot or minor characterizations to fit into whatever you got planned, this is why AU's are popular. And as long these variations stay true to the core of that character, it only can turn out amazing!! Sadly, that's what a lot of villain!Deku fics miss, and in turn I never can enjoy them without feeling the sense of grief and wrongness.
Man, I'm sorry for this, it turned out longer than I wanted it to be hahaha
No! I love it! And I agree. 🥺 Like, I can appreciate a Villain!Deku AU as something fun to explore a really popular what-if—but how they handle Izuku in general will make or break it for me. 😕 What I have always liked about Deku is his selfishness, when it comes him wanting to be a hero—he wants to be a hero! Quirkless or no! He wants to be like All Might—to reassure people and tell them he’s here, that he’s reaching out to them! Vigilante!Deku honours that a little, like you say, because he’s still Izuku at his core. But I think Villain!Deku fics tend to fall under the same umbrella that any kind of revenge (bakugou/consequences for example) fic does, for me; in that it’s kind of missing the point, LOL.
I will fight tooth and nail for people to be allowed to write or characterise whatever and however they want; but I agree with you in that at a certain point you, as a reader, will come to a threshold that you have to decide if are you reading fanfiction, still, or just fiction (that’s vaguely familiar)? And!! Here’s the thing!!! Humans are pretty forgiving readers, I reckon. And we also like things to be familiar to us (like tropes! cliches! fanfiction in general!!!). Villain!Deku is fun in his own way—all that violence and anger, packaged up in a character that otherwise would be repulsed by it. I can see how he’d be popular for like, yandere tropes, or other dark content.
I just—I like it when Deku has his goodness. 🥺 His self-sacrificing need to help others. Villain!Deku inherently involves a lot of sadness—being cast aside, neglected, hurt, whatever is used to push him there. 🥺 And I think it’s very much a matter of, “your mileage may very” when it comes to wanting to read/engage/write that, and what that does to his characterisation.

Think shiggy would do a leg day with deku
They would and it'd be so funny.
They are overanalyzing each other's moves and strengths except Deku is using comics language and Tomura game language and Bakugo is in the background screaming that they are both losers.

so I don't know the first thing about any of the fate series, so I don't feel confident in making an au based on if Izuku was corrupted (like one of the fate characters???).
but either way I made some art instead!!
Tumblr media
I perhaps went a lil overboard...
but I imagine in this possible au Izuku, took after his father more than he did Inko. He never got Ofa nor did he become a hero. I'm thinking a quirkless villain au possibly? who knows.

❛ you are losing my interest, and that’s very dangerous. ❜ villain aoyama
This villain’s home is gaudy.
That was the first thought that came to Izuku’s mind. It wasn’t horrible compared to the other places Izuku’s seen in his years as a reporter. The abundance of mirrors was disturbing though. Although, he was the one breaking into the man’s house- so he couldn’t exactly judge.
Slowly making his way through the house, Izuku found himself wary of every step he took. It was a miracle he didn’t set off any alarms busting into the place. However, that didn’t mean the possibility was nigh. He hadn’t noticed any cameras on the property or anything akin to a security system. It was really was seeming that Izuku would be able to find his way in and out of this place without a hitch.
Aoyama Yuuga, a villain known as The Starry Knight to the public, was a notorious thief, his family having ties with the likes of All For One- which made catching him difficult to man experiencedThe man on his own had committed hundreds of heists that resulted in millions of dollars being lost to the wind.
It was amazing to Izuku. He just wanted to know more about him. Sure it was creepy, but how else was Izuku going to find out more about him?
There was definitely an easier way
Izuku made his way through the house. Photographing all the stolen goods, and writing down all the details of this apartment. Each room was just more intriguing than the last.
Making his way to the last room, Izuku found himself gawking at the mirror inside. The gold frame was lined with silver ornate detailing. Priceless gemstones of different sizes, shapes, and colors glittered in the dark room. Izuku didn’t want to risk turning on the lights to get a better look at the mirror.
“This….This is literally priceless.” Izuku whispered to himself.
“I know Mon Cherie that’s why I stole it.” A voice cooed behind him in the dark room.
Izuku’s heart dropped to his feet as quickly he turned around.
On his wrists were glittering bracelets and a shining watch. He wore Khaki Slacks and Black fitted turtle necked did nothing to hide the huge laser belt that sat on his hips. Izuku would call him fashionable if that wasn’t a surefire way to get himself killed. Long blonde hair was brushed into a slick ponytail, and the darkness of the room left Izuku unsure as to what the thief’s nature eye color was. The dark pools still captivated him
“Oh, I am so so so fucked huh.”
“No, I wouldn’t say that yet.”
“If I said I wasn’t a hero would you believe me?”
“Not particularly.”
The belt lowly glittered, and Izuku felt his dinner sitting in the back of his throat.
“I’m really not! I just wanted to know more about you.”
Izuku held his notebook out in front of him. Maybe if he saw he notes he wouldn’t kill him?
Starry Knight all but snatched the notebook, glancing his notes though before grabbing his face.
“I’ve entertained your snooping for far too long. It was comedic at first. However, Mon Cherie, You’re losing my interest, and that’s very dangerous.”
Izuku’s stammers weren’t able to make complete sentences.
“P-Please, Aoyama, I really just wanted to know more about you. Your heists are flawless. Literally no other villain has your flawless streak.”
The villain snickered.
“I was wrong, you’re almost a delight.”
The man stared at Izuku, as if analyzing the features of his own face.
“I guess I could keep you around.” The man muttered.
What.

Helo, I know you believe the “shigaraki is the final villain” take so I was wondering what you think abt the power difference between him and midoriya? I’m not a huge fan of the take but if that is how it turns out, I feel like Midoriya won’t be able to defeat tomura on his own. Shigaraki was able to take on dozens of pro heroes with varying quirks during the war arc, not to mention his own quirks being erased for a lot of that battle. He can literally destroy his body over and over and it wouldn’t matter because he has super regeneration. Midoriya is also insanely OP right now, but I just can’t imagine he’d be able to kill/defeat Shigaraki when he has probably hundreds of quirks and an indestructible body. Apologies if you’ve already talked about this in a post
It's fine. This is actually something I haven't talked about. And honestly, you may have touched on a big reason why I think Shigaraki's the better final battle for Deku; and why I almost don't want to answer you’re question to much, going over specific "hows" and the like of such a confrontation. Tomura’s the strongest piece on the board with Deku his only competition.
I'm a big fan of the theme of "heroes should have to put in the effort to win the best outcome". Y'know; grit, determination, the heroic spirit, Plus Ultra, that stuff. Similarly, I'm opposed to them utilizing cheep tactics, taking easy outs, or getting handed their wins. It's a big reason I'm not a fan of the war arc so far; things are so heavily stacked in the heroes favour that the Shigaraki fight and maybe the Spinner fight are the only ones that could conceivably give the heroes considerable trouble, the former only from Deku's absence and the latter only because victory grants an escape route and a means to cause trouble elsewhere. Otherwise, this war has too many "how to wins" for my liking; the heroes will win with their superiors numbers, with their superior resources, with the prep-time they got to plan specific counters for every real threat.
So like, the idea of Deku having to face an opponent stronger than him, that can match his wits, his spirit, is cool! He hasn't really been the underdog like that since...maybe Muscular...maybe the final exam with All Might...maybe even the first fight with Bakugou where he couldn't even use his quirk. And yet, some of the best fights in the series were underdog fights that lacked such "hows". All Might fighting against AFO, his nemesis and the only man in the world more powerful than him. The Meta Liberation Army, with their vast numbers and resources, VS Shigaraki and the 5 surviving members of his friend group whom he picked up of the street. And they slapped.
(Although; I will say you're maybe giving Tomura a bit to much credit. In the first war he actually fought just 1 dozen; I counted. And I counted guys like Manual & Rock Lock, who were just there to carry Aizawa, and Iida & Nejire, who just showed up at the end to get a hit off. And he's since gotten the million hands thing and his body doesn't fall apart anymore but...that's about it. Get Deku up to 100% with all 6 vestige quirks, and he’ll stand a chance 1-on-1.)
Anyway, I guess the best answer I...want to give you...is what I said before. "grit, determination, the heroic spirit, Plus Ultra, that stuff". Like All Might before him, and also Shigaraki himself in between those 2 points.

Adding onto that villain!Izuku post, it is an interesting idea but a lot of just makes Izuku OOC.Tbh, personally, how I would see villain!Izuku would him being pushed to his literal limit. Like, more or less "I had no choice but to do this! What other choice did I have?!" he still wants to help people, but the way he goes about is just not good! He still helps people but his heart is more jaded and just doesn't really trust people anymore. If he has to kill, he doesn't take joy in it. Idk where people got villain!Izuku in a suit, from. Dude can't even tie a tie right.
Yeah stories who make Izuku just straight-up evil are weird. People forget that he endured years of torment from Bakugou and still saved him. At his core, he wants to help people.
I think it's way more realistic that he'd be an anti-hero or vigilante. Someone who works outside the law but still aims to help civilians. That's way more fitting

Both the manics would get someone with a bone quirk to give them straight up fangs so they can bite people better (more painfully)
They would try and fail because I forbid it!!
