20 Questions for Fic Writers Game
Tagged by @shenanigans-and-imagines! I don't usually do these, but hell why not
1 - How many works do you have on AO3?
I have 56 individual "works", but that doesn't count how many chapters/actual fics I have posted there
-
2 - What's your total AO3 word count?
373,417
-
3 - What fandoms do you write for?
So many, oh god. Markiplier Egos, Marvel, The Witcher, Star Wars, Jurassic Park, NCIS, Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit, The Arcana, For The Love Of The Gods, Ace Attorney, Indiana Jones, Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom, Howl's Moving Castle, Enola Holmes, Doctor Who, Star Trek, Baldur's Gate 3. These are just all the fandoms I have characters I will write for in, so even though I don't have fics for all these fandoms, I will write for them
-
4 - What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
You Have A Type, Don't You? - Astarion x gn!Tav/Reader
I Come With Knives (series) - Astarion x gn!Tav/Reader
Designated Lockpicker - Astarion x gn!Tav/Reader
Astarion Drabbles - Astarion x Tav/Reader ficlets
You Hate Me - Astarion x gn!Tav/Reader
-
5 - Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
It depends on the comment, but I don't respond all the time. If someone has a question, or I feel I need to correct them/steer them in the right direction, I'll answer, but I don't respond to most of the ones gushing/aweing over the fic, not to say I don't still appreciate them all immensely.
-
6 - What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Rom, My Beloved is my saddest/angstiest from my individual works, but there are some really angsty fics in my Loki and Markiplier Ego compiled works. I wrote it because Rom is my favorite Bloodborne boss and I just loved her lore, but tragedy abounds when you talk about a Soulsborne game
-
7 -What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
A lot of my fics nowadays have happy endings, but my favorite of my completed individual works is probably The Rescue of Magistrate Ancunin, because it's open-ended as to what could happen next but it takes a devastating moment from Astarion's life and makes it nice and a little silly
-
8 - Do you get hate on fics?
In recent memory, no, but I'm sure I have at some point. I usually delete it and move on
-
9 - Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Very vanilla but very emotionally-charged. I have a tendency to focus more on the emotions of those involved and how they feel about their partner over how the sex feels
-
10 - Do you write crossovers?
No, but I have thought about doing a Witcher and Bloodborne crossover, because I think it would be very interesting
-
11 - Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of. I did check through the major sites when AI bots started scraping fics off AO3, but I didn't see anything then. If anything does come up though, absolutely let me know
-
12 - Have you ever had a fic translated?
No, but! Back when I wrote on Wattpad, I had some very lovely person ask to read my fic on Youtube. I agreed and I wish I could find it, because I just remember being so elated by it
-
13 - Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Nope. I don't really know how to approach co-writing, and it's just not something I'm too interested in rn
-
14 - What's your all time favorite ship?
Uh uhm pass (I can't think of any 💀)
-
15 - What's a WIP that you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
I have a Breath of the Wild fic planned out, with notes and even a first chapter written out and future ones with little bits drabbled out, but when I tried revisiting it again, I was just so lost in what I had planned. I hope one day I can finish it, but it's not gonna be soon
-
16 - What are your writing strengths?
I've been told that it's the little details I add that ground it more into reality, ie hair getting caught on earrings or a voice cracking while trying to sing
-
17 - What are your writing weaknesses?
I feel like I don't describe things complex enough. I can describe emotions or scenery and dip in a little bit, but I can never get it deep *enough*, but I know that comes mostly with neurodivergences and comparing myself to others
-
18 - Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I hate when writers have foreign words/phrases in the middle of a fic and don't translate them until the very very end. That means I have so pick up the context clues around it, translate it myself, or risk getting spoiled trying to find the translation
Also, if your character uses sign language, don't put it in italics or ' ', just write it out like if it was verbal dialogue. "They signed, '[fill in the blank]'" Describe the way the gestures are formed (sloppy, sharp, indecipherable, fast) to get across emotion, and also the expressions on their face, since sign languages are very heavily reliant on facial emotions to ass meaning to the signs themselves
-
19 - First fandom you wrote for?
Hard to say. I first started my writing on Wattpad, and have since been locked out of that account, but it was probably Doctor Who, knowing me
-
20 - Favorite fic you've written?
I have a hard time picking favorites! And I like a bunch of them for a variety of different reasons, and always have things to nitpick about them
I will say I am really really enjoying my work on I Come With Knives so far. It's a passion project and I have some very big, angsty things planned for the future that I can't wait to get to >:3
-
I don't really know who to tag for these things ever, so if you want to do it, go for it :)

Engage in High-Speed Mech Combat
Those whose primary experience with FromSoftware comes from games like Bloodborne or Elden Ring might be curious about what to expect from Armored Core VI.
You play an augmented mercenary piloting a huge, customizable mech. Yet while the pace and structure of mech-piloting action fundamentally differ from other games in the studio’s catalog, players can rest assured that the smooth, responsive controls they’ve come to expect in FromSoftware games is still here–just in a different context. Think giant, heavily equipped robots with the ability to zip around across ground and air, reacting at lightning-fast speeds to attacks and threats while trying to one-up dangerous foes with even more firepower at their disposal.
Rubicon, the Ruined Planet
Armored Core VI is a new story that takes place on the planet Rubicon, where a powerful energy source called “Coral” has been discovered. But this isn’t stuff that looks pretty in aquariums–Coral is extremely volatile, and it’s already caused a massive disaster that nearly turned all of Rubicon to ash many years prior. But those futuristic megacorps just can’t resist the siren song of Coral and continue to war for it to this day.
The various areas of Rubicon are filled with contrasts, as the hollowed-out industrial ruins from the aforementioned disaster smolder beneath a shiny shell of state-of-the-art mining constructs encasing the planet.
“It’s an intricate and multi-layered world, brimming with mega-structures and enormous underground facilities built by its former inhabitants. These structures cover a planetary surface wracked with extreme cold and contamination in the aftermath of the great disaster, and the player will be exploring these various environments as they proceed,” says game director Masaru Yamamura.
The expansive environments will deliver an incredible sense of scale, maintaining the quality we’ve come to expect from FromSoftware’s world-design maestros. And with your Armored Core’s (AC for short) advanced movement skills, you’ll be able to explore these large, open spaces to your heart’s content. You’ll be encountering lots of different scenery and objectives as you advance through the game’s mission-based progression structure (like previous entries).
“There will be missions where you’re fighting across sweeping battlefields–very combat-oriented,” Yamamura explains. “But you’ll sometimes be recovering data logs from wreckage and doing other side objectives too.”
Combat Features
Assault Boost – One of the biggest new features in Armored Core VI is an instantaneous switch between long-range gunfighting and close-range melee, thanks to a button-activated movement skill called the Assault Boost.
“Assault Boost is an offensive action that helps close the gap between enemies and lets you quickly go from long distance to close range,” Yamamura tells us. It will also provide some incredible chain abilities when fighting, as he describes vividly: “Say you activate Assault Boost to make your approach while using machine gun fire and a missile salvo to stagger the enemy, then use your pulse blade to score a direct melee hit once you’re up close.”
Stagger – Another addition to the series’ combat is a “stagger” element: if an AC takes too many hits over a short period of time, its Attitude Control System will be overloaded, making it vulnerable for a short time. Both continuous hits and big, powerful strikes will cause stagger damage, encouraging you to keep up the pressure on the opponent. The damage inflicted to an enemy’s stagger gauge varies from weapon to weapon. It can also be affected by factors like distance, adding additional strategy in equipping and using these armaments in combat.
We asked Yamamura how the pace and feel of the game compares to previous entries.
“The average movement speed across the game is somewhere between Armored Core 3 and Armored Core 5,” he replies. “But Armored Core VI has been developed to bolster the changes of tempo and combat. With instantaneous bursts of speed and sudden changes of tempo, combat can often reach the dizzying heights of say, Armored Core 4.”
Fight Challenging Bosses
The series’ big boss encounters are back, and the metal monstrosities you’ll encounter look bigger and more intimidating than ever.
“There will be a rich variety of powerful enemies of all shapes and sizes,” says Yamamura. “Huge combat helicopters, heavily armored mobile turrets, and unmanned heavy demolition machinery that’s programmed to indiscriminately crush intruders. Armored Core VI will offer a number of explosive battle experiences that challenge players to fight against the odds and overcome these ginormous, more abnormal mechs.”
In addition to these larger bosses, you’ll even fight against other ACs and humanoid mechs in high-octane duels. And in grand FromSoftware tradition, it may take several attempts and some experimentation with your AC’s equipment to fully learn and adapt to a boss’s quirks. So better prepare yourself, as Armored Core VI will offer numerous cathartic explosive battles that’ll truly test your skills.
Build the Perfect AC
Customization is a key part of the Armored Core experience. You have access to an assortment of parts to upgrade and fine-tune the power of your AC. Four slots for holding weaponry–one in each hand and two on the back–give you a lot of space to experiment with custom loadouts.
What kind of weapons are we talking about? Bazookas, gatling guns, split missiles, plasma rifles, and all the perennial favorites. There are a bunch of new close-range weapons, too.
“One aspect we focused on in I is melee weapons, exclusively equipped to the left hand,” Yamamura continues. “These can include a cluster bomb thrower, a chainsaw or pulse blade, lances, and other more idiosyncratic weapons. Since the main weapons are firearms, the melee weapons are more focused on that strength of individuality.”
Add in custom paint jobs and liveries and you’ll be able to create a unique AC that’s all yours.
The Arena is Back
There’s more good news for longtime Armored Core fans. The Arena, a much-cherished mode where you can fight a series of battles against a wide array of specially customized mechs, makes its return in Armored Core VI as a “combat aptitude evaluation program” (simulated training exercise).
“There are a lot of different AC frames and a lot of colorful characters to fight in the Arena, so we hope the players confront them all and aim for the top rank. You can even encounter the real version of these opponents while out on missions. These are more formidable than their simulator counterparts, and will confront the protagonist with their own ideals and motives in the heat of battle.”
Perfecting your combat skills won’t be the only reason you’ll want to return to the frontline: there will be multiple endings to Armored Core VI‘s narrative, with new paths opening up on subsequent playthroughs, giving players plenty of incentive to explore the world and story thoroughly. What will be the ultimate fate of Rubicon? That’s all up to you.

BERSERK: A MASTERSTROKE IN VIOLENCE
Berserk is a series that is both influential and overlooked. This might sound pretentious to fans of the gory medieval anime, but hear me out. Despite having a long-running manga which was originally released back in the ‘90's, after two anime series, a trilogy of movies and various video game adaptations, Berserk still remains somewhat niche and obscure.
The series is known for its gruesome imagery and I would strongly advise that if you've experienced abuse or are easily affected by violent and distressing material, that this series simply isn't for you. However, it's this cycle of violence that makes Berserk so compelling.
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and the Soulsborne series doesn't shy away from this. Hidetaka Miyazaki has openly discussed how Berserk inspired games like Dark Souls and Bloodborne and you don't have to look far to find Berserk's influence spread throughout the Souls series.
But when you think of your favourite hefty sword-wielding himbo, I'm sure Guts isn't the first to spring to mind. Before we get into the debate of who wore it better, let's talk about Berserk's creator.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The most distinct and memorable aspect of Berserk is the apparent pleasure the series takes with relishing visceral imagery which is brought to life by Kentaro Miura. Berserk's first volume was released in 1990 when Miura was twenty-two years old. At this point in his life, Miura was already experienced within the industry after having written his first manga at the age of ten and eventually self-publishing in 1982.
With his experience and indisputable style, Miura's abhorrent rendition of the numerous satanic beasts and mythological creatures that populate the bloodthirsty world of Berserk, are both horrifying and captivating. The series manages to succeed in simultaneously being horrendously violent and strikingly beautiful. This parallel is prominent throughout the story and feeds the reader/viewer with a morbid curiosity.
The first and most obvious juxtaposition can be found in Guts' and Griffith's appearance. If you put Berserk in front of a newbie, they would most likely assume that the androgynous Griffith was the series’ main hero.
Tumblr media
With his petite frame, feminine features, and charismatic charm, he certainly looks the part of a typical anime protagonist. Especially when set side by side with Guts who's hulking physique, stoic disposition, and hardened exterior is a stark contrast to the Hawk of Light. But scratch the surface and you'd find something entirely different.
Once you pull back the curtain and look beyond his angelic façade, you'd uncover Griffith's selfish, almost sociopathic personality which is accompanied with an unyielding ambition to stop at nothing until he achieves his dream. In contrast, Guts’ intimidating appearance and seemingly aloof attitude are a front concealing a lonely and tormented individual.
Tumblr media
Shrouded by death, Guts was born from the corpse of his executed mother and eventually discovered by a group of mercenaries, who find the infant beneath a hanging tree covered in blood and entrails. The baby is presumed to be dead until he begins to cry, to which prostitute Shisu immediately rushes to comfort the child and is permitted to keep the newborn by leader Gambino. The baby is given the name Guts after the gory manner in which he was found. However, many members of the group are unsettled by Guts’ arrival and consider it a bad omen.
Shisu had been deemed mad following her miscarriage and quickly became attached to Guts as a result. The pair seemed destined to meet but their happiness is tragically short-lived as three years later, Guts’ adoptive mother contracts the plague and dies while Guts watches over her. Unfortunately Shisu’s death only strengthens rumors about Guts’ reputation as a source of bad luck.
Guts promptly begins practicing swordsmanship and joins Gambino on the battlefield in an effort to gain approval. However, one night while Guts is sleeping in his tent, fellow sellsword Donovan, sneaks in and forces himself on the young boy. Guts later lures his abuser away and forces his sword down Donovan’s throat, killing him. No longer feeling safe, Guts begins to sleep clutching his sword.
Tumblr media
Guts’ relationship with Gambino rapidly deteriorates following Shisu’s death. Gambino resents Guts for the subsequent loss of his leg and fixates on the misfortune that seems to have followed the boy. Gambino soon begins to verbally and physically abuse Guts, and consequently makes an attempt on Guts’ life. It’s in this moment that Gambino confesses that he had sold Guts to Donovan for the night.
Horrified by this revelation, Guts is forced to kill his paternal figure in an act of self-defence and is hunted down by Gambino's men. After narrowly escaping with his life and defending himself against a pack of wolves, Guts eventually falls unconscious. The cycle begins again as he is discovered and enlisted by a separate mercenary group where he becomes a child soldier.
After surviving battlefield to battlefield, Guts eventually crosses paths with the Band of the Hawk. Impressed by his skills, leader Griffith, openly expresses that he is eager for Guts to join the Band of the Hawk. Guts agrees to this proposal but only if Griffith defeats him in a duel. Much to Guts’ disgust, he is defeated and begrudgingly joins the new group of mercenaries. But soon finds himself at home among his companions within the Band of the Hawk and is swiftly promoted to Captain of the Raiders.
Tumblr media
It is clear that Guts is conflicted in the first arc of the story. After years of coping with isolation and abuse, he is torn between carving his own path or sticking with the Band of the Hawk. It's safe to say that whether you read the manga or watch the anime, the series doesn't sugar-coat the trauma Guts is forced to endure. But despite everything, Guts still carries on and it’s his mental fortitude that makes him such a sympathetic character.
But after forming strong friendships and concealing an unrequited love, it's Guts' decision to leave the Band of the Hawk and break free of Griffith's control that ultimately leads to The Band of the Hawk's downfall.
Amidst this complicated bromance you have Casca. A seasoned warrior who commands the respect of The Band of the Hawk and is Griffiths right hand – that is until Guts steals the spotlight. This setup may sound like a clichéd love triangle but Casca plays a crucial role in Berserk. Without her, Guts would've likely given up following the aftermath of the eclipse. She is the driving force in the story, feeding Guts' lust for revenge.
Tumblr media
If you're considering checking out Berserk, I can highly recommend the manga as the best way to consume the series, as you are able to see Miura hone his craft over the years and create some truly remarkable panels. Another benefit is that with over 300 chapters, you'll have more than enough content to keep you occupied. But if that's not your style you have a few options to choose from.
The Golden Age Arc Film Trilogy concisely summaries the first narrative arc, if you want to get up to speed quickly. The larger budget in the subsequent movies allows for less 3D animation and more stunning hand-drawn sequences. However, if you have the time and patience for it, the 1997 adaptation spares no details and has an alluring nostalgic 90's aesthetic, if you can forgive it being a little rough around the edges.
Whichever version you decide to pick if you still can't get enough, I would advise saving the 2016 Berserk anime for last. Not only because it takes place after the first arc and follows the aftermath of the eclipse, but fans of the series have openly criticised this version's cheap animation style that fails to do justice to Miura’s concepts.
Tumblr media
As previously mentioned, Berserk is unashamed in its cruelty and some might say the series renowned violence is needlessly excessive. Although this may seem off-putting, Berserk also has it's softer moments. It's in these more subdued scenes that you're drawn deeper into the fascinating narrative.
If asked how best to describe the series, I would say that it's the love child of Japanese horror artist, Junji Ito and fantasy author, George R. R. Martin. The medieval-fantasy setting allows for breath-taking architecture and scenery which often resembles Salvador Dali's surrealist paintings, but inhabited with monsters from Hieronymus Bosch's famous works such as The Harrowing of Hell. It's this contrast that makes Berserk so bewitching, in the thick of all the violence, gore, and carnage, you have a tragic story bursting with drama, rivalry, betrayal, lost love, and most importantly, revenge.
But if The Last of Us Part 2 taught us anything about seeking revenge, it is that it comes at a high price. However, the story remains largely unfinished with the current hiatus and recent chapter having been released as far back as 2019, it's uncertain when we'll see how this revenge story will play out. Nevertheless much like the A Song of Fire and Ice series, having no ending has its positives...

StarVIEW Valley (get it?)
I am a gamer of many passions. Most of these passions extend mostly into games that offer numerous ways to brutalize and maim your adversaries (such as Mortal Kombat or The Witcher) or games that have adversaries that brutalize and maim me (such as Bloodborne or Outlast). So when I was finally finished with acquiring every achievement in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice(1), I needed a break from it all. The killing. The being killed. So in an effort to flip the script, I went to the otherside of the spectrum of gaming. That’s where I found one of my new biggest passions to date. That passion is called Stardew Valley.
The game begins with a simple soundtrack and a main menu. A background of green hills, flying birds, and blue skies as the title comes from the top of the screen. There are four buttons. New, Load, Co-op, and Exit. While it’s a small pick of things to do, most main menus are on the first boot. But, immediately, the care to detail is noticed.
Not on my first pickup or even my fifth did I notice that there is a counter at the bottom of the screen that notifies you on how many times you have logged in. Clicking on things in this screen reveals secret easter eggs, all of which are adorable to look at. I knew I would enjoy this game even since then.
Stardew Valley has surpassed the perception of wholesomeness and has ascended, wait, transcended to a volume equivalent to a playable Bob Ross painting where everyone you meet is a form of Fred Rogers’ mind. I think the most important pieces that make up and come from Stardew Valley is it’s development and the message it sends while you play it. The game handles lots of things impressively well, but the three mentioned topics are the driving factors of gameplay for me.
“The title is made by a multimillion dollar corporation with over four hundred people working on this sole project, all of which was shown at E3 only to have a massive graphics downgrade on release.” That sentence is what I would write if it was true. Stardew was created by one computer science major(2) who decided he didn’t like how Harvest Moon(3) games were going/were being made. So he dedicated his time to making this game, delving into his artistic views to make the game come to life even more.
After some time, he reached out to Reddit and Twitter for his progress updates, to which he was returned with waves and waves of support from the online community. What went from a small project soon turned into his full time investment. Once Chucklefish came on board to help carry the load of publishing the game, Ape went and set his days on polishing the game the best he could before initial release.
And thank goodness he did.
The game was a success. Is a success. With over ten million copies sold by January 2020, ConcernedApe still to this day works on patching bugs, adding content, and discussing the future of the game in online forums. This direction of development was not only eye-opening to me, but it’s admirable in its own right.
The charm from that is enough to be portrayed into the game. Every detail, every spoken word from the NPCs and every pixel on the monsters in the mine was drawn and rendered from one mind. That level of dedication to this craft is so impressive that the weight of that notion carries throughout the gameplay. To know that so many mechanics were programmed in C# by one person astonishes me, and the returns tell us that many others feel the same way.
Next, the message of the game. It’s introspective, it’s mature, it’s prominent but not obvious. Basically:
Fuck Capitalism.
I mean, fuck wasting your life away behind a desk without connecting to those around you in a world where human interaction should not be as forced as it should be welcomed.
From the prologue, prior to your adventure to Stardew Valley, your call to action comes in the form of a letter from your grandfather. Trapped in your cubicle in the fictional company Joja’s office, you have finally grown tired of the stale lifestyle you’ve been leading. Opening the letter, you read about the property your grandfather left you. You head to his home. Once you arrive, your game starts.
This entire exchange of scenery, world building, and story takes place in under ten minutes. However, it is executed perfectly. The theme carries over in town once you realize there are two places to get your groceries, a Joja Market and Pierre’s General Store. The game makes a point of competition between these two establishments and it’s direction is influenced from the player’s involvement to love nature.
I believe that this was excellently done. It all revolves around a place where little fairies live, all of which need your help rebuilding their broken home. Now you can help them find their precious food and crafts or you can buy a membership at Joja like some kind of toxic, stupid, disrespectful, horrible, waste of space human filth that smells bad. I took to helping them with my good nature. I’ve run around, collecting only the most beautiful flowers and harvesting the dankest crops to give to those little bitch fairies to see that center bloom to life.
And I loved it. I loved it so much that when the Joja manager showed up to make a statement after I had repaired the entire establishment, I was gratified to see Pierre duke it out with this man. ConcernedApe took an approach to seeing past business in such an appealing way that I never once thought of it as a chore, let alone as a rebellion against societal standards.
Stardew Valley is a special experience. You can’t just continue to play games without giving this one a fair chance. It’s cute, it’s handcrafted, and I think most importantly, it’s completely unique in its delivery. While influences from other games and works of art are present, it’s safe to say that Stardew Valley goes above and beyond the usual farming simulator or dating RPG. Good job ConcernedApe, I will be returning to that farm almost constantly.
My statement still stands.
Fuck Capitalism.
(1)  From Software’s newest title, a new IP from their universally acknowledged Dark Souls series.
(2)  Nerd.
(3)  A farming simulator released in 1996, which is still continued to be made.

Ishida’s Q&A comments from YJ compilation, Part 6
2014 is an interesting year since that’s when OG ended and :re began.
I said I’d finish this by the end of April, but clearly that’s not the case lol...I’ve given myself a personal deadline of May 10 which should give me enough time to finish it plus give enough time for people to send in their questions. I’ve also decided to make each part cover an entire year instead of half a year since I noticed I get more questions done that way.
For anyone who doesn’t know about the relevant Questions to Ishida contest, please read here. You can start from Part 1 here.
The recent set of zakki:re and interview translations take a lot of time and effort, so if you enjoyed it please reblog or leave a like. Thank you!

If it's alright with you, I wanted to ask what kind of games you think the characters of Final Fantasy XV would like and why?
It’s always alright! I actually did have some headcanons for them as gamers for a while but didn’t put it into a post!
As we all know, Ignis doesn’t play any games in canon, so I definitely think he would not be one for complex gameplays, not that he isn’t able to, he would just rather play something to calm him than rile him up. He likes to play games with a deep story that doesn’t depend on the gameplay itself. I imagine he would love Journey, Limbo and Zelda BotW as they have beautiful scenery, deliver their story beautifully and have some puzzle elements in it which would make him have to use his brain to get through.
Gladiolus would love games where he can challenge himself as he values strength a lot due to his duty as the Prince’s shield and is quite prideful of his position. I think that would reflect itself in his gameplay, he’d love the Devil May Cry series, not only are there quite different modes where can work himself up and smash combos but it also has badass characters in it. His favourite character would be Dante, he can see himself a bit in him and Noctis in Nero. Obviously Bloodborne and Dark Souls are games he enjoys playing due to it’s high difficulty, the others can hear him swearing at times when it is too difficult but he never gives up and ends up beating the games eventually.
Prompto would love games that are more on the happy, less serious side of the video game genre but yet have a nice story as he likes hopeful stories and is a casual gamer. I can imagine him playing Kingdom Hearts, Persona and the Tales of- franchise because they can be funny but also have a captivating story, a bit emotional at times but with a happy ending. He also often gets teary eyed when there is a emotional scene and Gladiolus and Noctis make lighthearted fun of him when he cries.
Noctis is kind of in the middle between Gladiolus and Prompto. He loves a challenge but still wants to be able to play through the game without too much of a struggle. I think he’d love the Final Fantasy franchise (let’s just pretend they have every game but FF15), as well as the NieR games, also Legends of Mana. He enjoys the stories but has a lot of gameplay so he has a nice change and won’t get bored.
Short addition: Noctis and Gladiolus would totally play horror games, they enjoy the thrill. Prompt would be way too scared to play them himself but sometimes watches Noctis play. Ignis just doesn’t like them because he finds no merit in making himself feel scared.
I hope this is good enough?? xD I didn’t know which characters you wanted them for, as there are tons of them, but feel free to ask for more characters if you like.

tbh i’ll never quite understand the pearl clutching ppl do specifically over the seeds, not just because i like villains, but because when i think of them as compared to villains in other works of fiction, they don’t even approach the same levels of monstrosity??
and i get that’s probably a YMMV (your mileage may vary) thing, but people act like the seeds are so far beyond the pale, when i kinda look at them and go, “you know, i’ve played games/read books where the villains were much worse.”
like
resident evil 2 has birkin facehug his own daughter, embryo implantation and all.
silent hill 1 has a mother burn-torture her seven year old daughter so that she can become an unwilling vessel for the spirit of their god.
the uncharted series has multiple war criminals as the villain, and a goddamn homicidal maniac as its hero (he’s just charismatic and witty and on the “right” side of sanity to avoid, y’know, being a maniac).
dark souls has a god-king who infects humanity with an undead curse out of fear of humanity’s destined rise to power--a curse that effectively destroys the entire universe in a slow decay. and to make it worse, it fucks up nearly every living thing on the face of the planet right down to the nature of the soul.
bloodborne’s whole problems start when the dead body of a god is torn apart, and her infant stolen all for the sake of ascending humanity beyond its ignorance. and there’s evidence to suggest that there were problems before this--that the beast curse happened before kos’ corpse was violated. this suggests that the brutality of humanity in its quest for knowledge and improvement is cyclical and unavoidable, and a curse that “good” humans must push against however they can.
every single boss in persona 5.
and those are just a few examples. there’s a lot more but those are the ones that stand out to me the most. hell, the persona 5 villains’ evil is FAR more realistic, and thus far more horrifying, than anything the seeds do. realistic villains are always going to fuck me up more than melodramatic scenery chewers, and the seeds are all dialed up to eleven. yet people talk about em as if they like. exist lmao. in real time. they contain elements of realism (cults? check. manipulation and coercion? check) that are cranked up past believable levels (joseph’s damn near psychic status? the bliss and jacob’s eldritch presence in the deputy’s brain? john seed taking the whole “mortification of the flesh” thing too seriously??? f a i t h??). but never for a moment did i feel like their “evil” was in any way approaching reality.
i included some examples of “unrealistic” villains to show that those types of villains can still be effective and terrifying to me. i can’t easily pinpoint why the seeds never feel like realistic/non melodramatc villains, so for now i’ll just say again it’s prolly a YMMV thing. and i’m not asking to have someone come explain to me this phenomenon. i don’t care. i just think it’s strange.

Are you a beast?
Then look no further! (sorry for the strange title. Couldn't think of a better one at the moment :P) Call me Gil! Didn’t have that much luck the first time I submitted my ad. I hope it’ll change with my second try :)
If you reach out to me, please be sure not to ghost me after the first few messages before we even get to the Roleplay itself. I am sick and tired of it, frankly.
Apologies if this came off a little bitter, but this has happened so many times to the point where I took a break from roleplaying altogether. Now that my rant is over, let us move on with the fun stuff :) I am currently searching for a literate, mature (preferably 20+ partner) writer with a vast, creative mindset willing to push some boundaries. Someone who is not afraid delving into darker themes, or come up with new fresh ideas for a fantasy plot. Someone who is willing to commit to a long-term Roleplay. Are you that someone? I’ll swing you a few facts about me:
I am a 20+ woman, living in Europe, currently studying at a university that is fairly time consuming. With that being said, I am able to type out 3-4 messages per week. I think tis a good solid rate that can get the plot going. Depending on my schedule, my frequency will increase or decrease. Not to worry, I will let you know as soon if there is something coming up that might influence the Roleplay. I love detailed paragraphs that describe the scenery and emotion of one’s character. If you are someone comfortable or only willing to type one-liners, you are going to find your match here, sorry. I only role-play on either email or goggle docs.
Summary:
Above the age of 20, thus mature and open minded
    Paragraph writer
    Detailed
Experienced with 10 years under my belt
    Preference to doubling
I love a good brainstorming! Once we get to know each other, I would love to do a bit of brainstorming, a gathering of ideas that we can utilise for the story. I have an idea that we can shape a bit more to fit both of our narrative.
Here’s a detailed description of my style and boundaries that I have for a potential RP. How I write: I am a multi-paragraph sort of writer, which means that frequently, my writing will exceed at least 500 words, and upward of 1000+ words. I love detail in description, and I am actively seeking someone of the same infamy. Generally, I tend to write in the 3rd person. But it can change based on the situation. My partner should have a basic grasp on grammar, punctuation and somewhat of an interest in erudite writing.   The genres I am into: I am versatile when it comes to genres and settings that I like to focus on. Supernatural is my bread and butter, especially urban and gothic fantasy, but also very much mythological stories. But I am not opposed to tapping into science fiction, action, romance, crime, action or thriller genres, though my most favourite is a combination of both fantasy and science fiction. What has struck my interest lately, is a world with gargantuan titan like monsters battling against each other, causing all sorts of havoc and devastation. I was heavily inspired by Pacific Rim, Godzilla and other monster themed movies, films and games. We could forge something original along those lines, like a clash of titans, ancient deities and creatures believed to be myth who now awakened to take back the world by storm. Romance: I openly play and accept characters of both genders, preferable m x f pairings, but I am open to m x m and f x f relationships as well. I have more experience with m x f relationships, so I might excel in this category more than I would do with the others. I do not fade to black - instead I encourage erotism and tastefully written romance scenes. The passion must be felt, even if its just an intelligent description of someone’s stream of thought. Characters, the center of attention: Faceclaims, GIFs, drawings, mood boards or just a plain physical description is absolutely welcome / sufficient. I am not someone who necessarily requires a face claim for a character in order ‘to get the picture’. There are many instances where I could not find a suiting match for my character’s definition, so I resorted to drawing them myself or leaving it with a simple description. Characters should have flaws - that is a no brainer obviously, because its what makes them most interesting and compelling to read. I think we’re also far past the Mary Sue and Gary Stu issue, so I am certain that anyone who messages me, is capable of forging great characters. World building & plotting: An active Roleplayer is wanted in this category, without a doubt. I love to build but I tend to lose interest real quick when I get the feeling I’m the only one who puts effort into it. I can’t do the thinking for two people, so I implore anyone to at least share the burden (which should not be regarded as such in the first place, because Roleplaying is a fun hobby and nothing more). Too often I find people shying away from it in this regard. If I feel that I’m carrying the weight of the world-building part with specific ideas, I will end the Roleplay with immediate effect. Be bold with your ideas! A bird cannot fly with only one wing. Content: I find writing erotic, dramatic or action packed scenes very enjoyable. I don’t hinder myself when certain subjects are mentioned that may be uncomfortable for the general public. But then again, as a reminder, a Roleplay is not reality but fiction. For example situations that heavily imply and involve brutality, mayhem, psychological and physical torture are things that don’t really bother me in a sense, because again, it is fiction. Characters should be fully fleshed out, even the not so pretty parts of one’s personality and actions.
Limits: I don’t do necrophilia, pedophilia & and any sort of underage pairings, bestiality, vore, toilet play, furries and other strange fetishes. What I’m also not particularly fond of are oneliners, text-talk ‘grammar’, or emails with the subject: ‘Hey wanna rp?’ or ‘RP?’. I also note that my partners must be around 20 years or older, I will accept no younger partners, sorry. The last thing I tend to avoid like the plague are slice of life Roleplays, because lets face it, our own lives are pretty much slice of life. Original plot lines / pairings I am absolutely down for are:
Supernatural x Human (non supernatural)
God x Human
God x God
God x Demigod
Demigod x Human
Witch / Warlock x Human
Witch / Warlock x Hunter
Witch / Warlock x Witch / Warlock
Monster x Human
Antagonist x Protagonist
Bully x Victim (sort of..)
Criminal x Regular citizen
Criminal x Cop
Soldier / Warrior / Knight x Civilian
Royal / Noble x Peasant
Royal / Noble x Traveler
Mentor x Apprentice
Knight x (Female in disguise) Knight
etc.
The list goes on.
Also, if an original doesn’t really suit your fancy - I am willing to do canon Roleplay, although I don’t feel as much inspiration for it as I do for an original story. I’m also very picky about it, so apologies if there aren’t too many things listed here:

Marvel
DC

Pacific Rim
Star Wars
Star Trek

Castlevania
Berserk
Carmen SanDiego
Harry Potter
Witcher
Dark Souls
Bloodborne
Devil May Cry (The original series, not the reboot)
Shadow of the Colossus
Kingdom Hearts
God of War
I highly welcome ideas and other takes on a story. If you crave something different, I am down for it as well :) If you are still reading, congratulations! xD
The journey has come to an end and I am glad you’re still alive! Usually I would also list my Discord on this platform, but since Discord did an update on me recently where I can’t log into it anymore - I thought it be better with email. That way I can better assess the person. Email is much safer and more professional that way. Contact me here! EMAIL: [email protected] Hope to greet you as my new partner!
-Cheers

omg nooo i love the rant hehe especially bc ur so into it <33 i've played every fromsoft game except for demon souls but tbh i never finished ds1 or ds2 😭 i really didn't like ds2 bc they changed a lot of stuff and made it miserable to play when i played it the first few times so it might be different if i go back to it NOW but im glued to elden ring for the time being instead <3 i got stuck at the exact spot you're stuck in in ds1 too those bell gargoyles are just 😭😭 actually the first time i play i did things really out of order and accidentally attacked an npc then aggro-ed him and then couldn't go back to the gargoyles so i trapped myself and ahahha it was a mess </3 but since then i still haven't been able to get past the gargoyles 😭 hilariously i played them mega out of order i went from 3 to 1 to 2 to bloodborne to sekiro then now elden ring KDFSLK and in terms of accessibility for new players i think elden ring, bloodborne and ds3 are most accessible? obviously that's based on how good i feel i am at those games but yeah <3 i imagine ds3 with be much much easier for you than ds1 is just based on my personal experience 😭 sekiro is way different in a lot of ways and i know lots of FS fans didn't like it bc of that but personally i really loved it T-T
i think imo elden ring has been the most accessible for me personally and for people i know who haven't played any FS games!! i agree with you, i spent a lot of time watching streamers struggle immensely so i was super worried and scared about it being like,,,,ridiculously nonsense difficult but it wasn't!! im horrid about doing things in order tho so i'll admit i have made things way more difficult for myself than i could be T-T i felt like for me with margit it kinda clicked and made sense and i got my timing down there then by the time i got to radahn i was better at dodging and such so i was lucky enough with RNG to knock him out first try lkkljsflkd
im not sure where you arer in terms of story so i don't wanna be like talking out my ass about bosses and stuff SLDKFJSLFKD but i just beat my fourth elden lord dude thingy but i did it out of order so i think he was supposed to be the third one? but still i don't think i've had much trouble with the required bosses either! it feels much easer than other souls games and idk if that's bc the game is easier or it's just easier to grasp!!! there's a big difficulty curve i think depending on the ending you go for and i accidentally locked myself into that ending so now it feels a bit like im back to level 1 all over and im hitting enemies with a TOOTHPICK 😭 but it's still so fun it's so pretty and the music is lovely and the setting and scenery and graphics just aaaaa im so in love with it <33 definitely up there with bloodborne for me personally i think they perfected so much about the series with elden ring and made it a wonderful thing 😭 the sheer quantity of bosses is just BONKERS!! i made myself a spreadsheet to keep track of who i'm beating and such bc im a completionist and my god i keep having to add to it bc it's so so many 😩
i've been hyped since it was first announced and tbh i was only nervous about the STORY bc george rr martin was gonna be working on it but honestly this story makes more sense to me than any of the other games i feel as though they are much more willing to give information about the story through characters and dialogue and that makes it easier to digest so im loving it i really do thing it's the perfect blend of everything they have built up in previous games 😭 im playing on pc too and tbh i've not really had performance issues either so like,,,im having the best experience i can!! i will say tho there are two bosses in particular who drove me nuts just bc im personally not good at fighting multiple bosses at once bc i have a hard time managing them but again i found out that i did them way earlier than i should have and made it awfully difficult for myself so that's kinda on me HAHA one day... one day i'll learn to be better about that... bc i do that in every FS game...
i ended up talking out my ass anyways i could go on forever too CLEARLY!!! but yeah it's a 10.5/10 for me characters are phenomenal amazing attractive in luv with them the voice acting is crazy good radagon is highkey hot but YOU DIDN'T HEAR THAT FROM ME! blaidd too if you take away the furry bits his voice is just so nice and he's tall and has a big sword it's the perfect man right there <3
im sorry for putting this WALL OF TEXT in your inbox 😭 but i miss u more i love u more i hope u are doing so well mwahmwah im so happy ur playing and loving it too 😭💖
omg ddshvbshdbvhsdb OKAY LESGO
im really curious about the other ds games!!! i think ds3 is overall the most popular? so im really looking forward to playing it jsdbvhsdbv wanna give bloodborne and maaaaybe sekiro a chance too, not sure yet bc right now elden ring tunnel vision yk hdvsbdsvhbd but yes!!! those gargoyles are so annoying >:( AND THE WORST PART IS THAT THERE IS A VERY SIMILAR GARGOYLE DUO FIGHT IN ELDEN RING LUNA BELOVED I RAGE QUIT THE GAME WHEN I FOUDN THEM JSDVBHSDBVHSB but yes like you say i think those games are most accessible too!!! elden ring has a bunch of tutorials and popups that explain whats actually happening, I DIDNT FIND THAT IN DS1 LMAO <3
margit is nowhere near as bad as people make him seem fhbsdhfvb you'd be surprised how many new players there are that literally cant get past him??? sdbvhsdbv like sure the whole anti-panic-rolling mechanic sucks (yk when he raises his sword and then waits.... and waits........... AND EVENTUALLY HITS FDVBHSB) making you have to REALLY time your rolls well but even then margit aint THAT bad i mean sure he's the first real boss of the game but obviously he wouldnt be unbeatable shdvbhsd people are just bad <3 jsdvhdvb also i think radahn is much easier now after the patch, at least from what i've heard? my streamer beat him before the patch so maybe thats why it took him so long but its a shame bc i want a real damn challenge and radahn was one i was really looking forward to jvbshdvb
.... i have to admit im not sure myself either JHBSHDVBDS i literally have no clue what im doing!!!! in terms of game progression though im currently stuck searching for the medallions for the grand lift of dectus!! and bc i dont wanna look shit up unless im really desperate i decided to go explore the open world a bit more and last thing i did when i played was entering the carian study hall!! so that's on my to-do list right now uwu just need to grow a pair first jsdvbhsdvb oh no you poor soul (SEE WHAT I DID THERE) im curious who you're fighting tho? bc as much as there are still many boss fights i havent seen, i do know about them sjdvbhds if anything else from the soundtrack alone bc the elden ring songs are the only thing i listen to these days fdjfbhfvb am unsure about the exact number of the bosses but i think i heard there are 83???? which is NUTSS
oh you'll have to enlighten me about the story bc again i literally have no idea whats goign on sjdbvshbv ofc i caught some bits but not enough for them to make sense to me?? but what made me really interested in the story was when i walked past the frenzy flaming tower, idk if youve been there but THAT SHIT IS SO EERIE AND COOL!!!!!!!!!! i love it hsdbhsdbv tried looking up more lore about that particular thing but havent found much :(( i wonder, those two bosses you mentioned sdhvbsdhb are they the godskin duo by any chance? sdvjhbsdhvbdshbv BUT ALSO IM GLAD YOURE HAVING SUCH A GOOD EXPERIENCE <33333333 im playing on the ps4 and i kinda wish i either had a psn or played on pc because its a shame that i cant see those online messages from players i think they're a very fun addition to the game sdvbshdbv
LMAO I SAID LOWKEY BC DIDNT WANNA WEIRD YOU OUT IN CASE YOU'D DISAPPROVE BUT YES <3 what a hot man honestly. he can be undead he can be half empty glowing golden rays from inside, i dont care i see him for what he really is!!! (hot) HSDVVHSDBVHBSD but also luna beloved have you seen him in the 2019 trailer???????????????????????????? GOD thats where he looks the best hfvbhdb BC HE LOOKS HUMAN THERE AND EVEN THO YOU CAN REALLY ONLY SEE HIS BACK AND ARMS, YK,,,,,,,, ITS KINDA ALL I NEED TO SEE ANYWAY SHDBVHSDVB but also blaidd yes <3 he's so tall and cool, a big confident good boi, how could you not love him 😔😔

15 Hardest Dark Souls Bosses

It’s easy to call Dark Souls the most influential game of the 2010s. Whether it was the deep combat, obtuse storytelling, or the unforgiving difficulty, dozens of other games have taken inspiration from Dark Souls in one way or another over the last 10 years. It’s even spawned an entire sub-genre of similar “Soulsborne” games.
There’s a lot to love about Dark Souls, but for most fans, the most memorable parts will always be the boss battles. We’ve spent hours trying to topple these bosses in the never-ending quest to “git gud.” There’s really no such thing as an “easy” Dark Souls boss. Their difficulty starts at “hard” and then increases to “borderline impossible.”
As we celebrate the series’ 10th anniversary, these are the 15 hardest bosses you will face in the Dark Souls trilogy:
15. Ancient Dragon – Dark Souls II
The second Dark Souls game gets some flak from fans since it didn’t involve Hidetaka Miyazaki in the director’s chair. Many gamers will tell you it’s the easiest game in the trilogy because of changes made to the gameplay without his guidance, but it’s still pretty damn difficult. For example, the Ancient Dragon hits very hard. A single stomp from his massive legs, or a blast of fire from his mouth will likely kill your character. At best, you’ll have just a sliver of health left.
But as with any Dark Souls boss, the Ancient Dragon can eventually be conquered with patience and practice. Just be prepared to die a lot before then. But at least he’s an optional boss if you’d rather avoid him altogether.
Things only get more difficult from here, and most of these fights aren’t as easily avoided…
14. Bed of Chaos – Dark Souls
Dark Souls is generally considered “tough but fair.” With enough practice, a dedicated gamer should be able to recognize enemy patterns and eventually beat almost anything the games throw their way. But Bed of Chaos comes pretty close to breaking that rule. Many would say this boss does.
This demon resides in a giant tree, and will wantonly swing massive branches at you as you desperately try to hit the two orbs on either side of the room to whittle away its life bar. Take out one orb, and a big chunk of the floor collapses. Manage to take out that orb, and now there’s even less floor to walk on as you have to make a blind jump into the tree’s branches to take out the heart of chaos. Even then, a big swing from the branches is likely to kill you if you’re not quick enough. Vanquishing the Bed of Chaos often depends more on luck than skill.
13. Pontiff Sulyvahn – Dark Souls III
Pontiff Sulyvahn is really fast, which means you’re bound to struggle with this Dark Souls boss. He also attacks with two swords — one hits with fire damage and the other with magic damage. That’s tough, but something Dark Souls veterans can handle. The real issue is midway through the fight when he starts spawning a phantom that’s just as dangerous as he is.
Dark Souls fans thought they could handle almost anything the series could throw at them, but for many, Pontiff Sulyvahn was the first real challenge they faced in Dark Souls III. But the final game in the trilogy managed to get even more difficult from there.
12. Capra Demon – Dark Souls
The Capra Demon has become one of the more iconic bosses in Dark Souls, a towering minotaur-like beast with two giant swords. Those who have bested him remember the first encounter well. Part of the difficulty with this demon is the two dogs at his side. Walk through the fog gate unprepared and they’ll make quick work of you before you can even get one hit on the demon.
The other issue is that the arena in which you face the Capra Demon is extremely cramped. The wall is as much your enemy as he is. Luckily, several different strategies have been discovered over the years to make short work of this fight. There’s even a way to take him out with firebombs without even entering the fog gate.
11. Centipede Demon – Dark Souls
The first challenge when it comes to the Centipede Demon boss fight is dodging its heavy hitting attacks while avoiding lava damage. The second part is taming the camera, which can regularly ruin a great run. Seriously, this might be the most glitchy boss fight in the game, although sometimes that can work to your advantage if the demon gets stuck in the scenery.
The Centipede Demon is also a good example of how sometimes you just need the right strategy to beat Dark Souls’ bosses, and how failure ultimately leads to success. Getting the Orange Charred Ring when you cut off its tail is a huge help here, and you don’t even have to beat the demon to get it. It’s worth sacrificing some souls on one run for the ring so that you can come back stronger the next time around.
10. Sanctuary Guardian – Dark Souls
After Dark Souls became something of a surprise hit, fans who conquered the first game were hungry for more. FromSoftware happily obliged the following year with the Artorias of the Abyss expansion. The first boss of the DLC quickly tested any gamer cocky enough to think they could breeze through the expansion.
The Sanctuary Guardian is a massive, white winged lion who moves fast and attacks with lightning, poison, and physical damage. Not only do you have to be a high level player and have the right equipment to defeat this beast, but you also need to have nearly flawless dodging skills. And as tough as the Sanctuary Guardian is, it was actually just a prelude to the overpowered DLC bosses to come.
9. Slave Knight Gael – Dark Souls III
Slave Knight Gael is a case of slowly escalating difficulty. His first phase is a tough, but fairly standard melee battle. But then comes the second phase when he adds more attacks, and gains the ability to turn invisible and teleport. That’s bad enough, but then comes phase three where he adds in even more attacks, and now lightning randomly strikes the ground.
What really doesn’t help matters is that Gael has more health than almost any other enemy in the game. Defeating him is a battle of attrition.
8. Knight Artorias – Dark Souls
If you thought the Sanctuary Guardian was difficult, then good news! The next boss in Dark Souls’ DLC is even harder. At least Knight Artorias isn’t as annoyingly fast, but he makes up for that with a series of relentless sword attacks. And if he does try to get away, it’s only to use buffs that make him even more of a pain to deal with. The best strategy is to beat him as quickly as possible.
If you look closely, Artorias is actually fighting with a broken left arm, so he’s not even at full power for the battle. I’d hate to see what that’s like.
7. Black Dragon Kalameet – Dark Souls
You’ll first encounter Kalameet soaring in the background as you explore the Artorias of the Abyss DLC. That’s intimidating, but it’s really just a prelude of what’s to come. After facing other dragons, you might think that you can take him out by just attacking him from underneath. Nope. Kalameet will either stomp you to death or just fly away if you try that.

Attempt to attack him from afar, and his fire breath causes physical and magical damage, so it can’t be fully blocked. You’ve got a very short window to actually damage the black dragon during its assault, making for an extremely frustrating boss fight.
6. Four Kings – Dark Souls
Your view of the Four Kings is going to depend a lot on how hardcore of a Dark Souls fan you are. If you’ve just played through the game once, they’re actually not so difficult or memorable. The real challenge comes on New Game+ when their stats are increased.
Whereas before, you could brute force through one king pretty quickly, that’s almost impossible on a second playthrough (or later). You’ve only got about 40 seconds until the next king spawns, and it’s easy to get caught in a situation where you’re now cornered by all four of them simultaneously. Only the most skilled Dark Souls players are going to get out of that unscathed.
5. Throne Watcher and Throne Defender – Dark Souls II
The penultimate bosses of Dark Souls II are actually way more difficult than the final boss battle. By themselves, the Throne Watcher and Defender wouldn’t be too difficult. They’re fairly typical melee knight enemies. Just having the right build can get you close to taking out this duo — except for one little wrinkle.
As soon as you defeat either the Watcher or the Defender, the one left alive will rush to the side of his fallen brother to heal him. You have to carefully split your attacks between them because you have a very short window of time to take out the pair before they come back at you in full force.
4. Darkeater Midir – Dark Souls III
Continuing the series’ tradition of ridiculously difficult DLC boss fights, Darkeater Midir is a massive dragon with high health and heavy physical, magic, and fire attacks. He’s challenging on your first run, but can one hit kill even the most seasoned warriors on New Game+.
Unlike a lot of other bosses, there aren’t many tricks you can pull off in order to cheese a win against Midir. Your best bet is to face him head-on with a melee build. If that’s too much for you, at least he can be skipped.
3. Dragon Slayer Ornstein and Executioner Smough – Dark Souls
Ornstein and Smough effectively act as the gatekeepers in the first Dark Souls — and really for the entire series. If you did in fact “git gud” enough to beat them, you should be able to beat the rest of the game without too much trouble.
The challenge here is two-fold. They’re both very quick, and can synchronize their attacks. It’s very easy to end up cornered and taking massive damage. And unlike the Throne Watcher and Throne Defender, you can’t defeat them simultaneously. When one goes down, it just spawns a super powered version of the other. This fight requires quick reflexes, a strong build, and a solid understanding of the game’s mechanics.
In short, this boss fight is the perfect microcosm of the Dark Souls experience.
2. Manus, Father of the Abyss – Dark Souls
Massive, quick, and capable of dealing heavy damage in an instant, Manus is the final foe you face in Artorias of the Abyss, making him the “true” final boss of the first Dark Souls. Even though you can summon assistance in this fight, and a few items will help negate his attacks, Manus’ speed and varied attacks make him difficult to predict.
Then there’s his health bar. It’s tricky to come up with the just the right build to damage him consistently, and even when you do have a strong character, this fight is largely a matter of endurance.
1. The Nameless King – Dark Souls III
First, give the Nameless King props for showmanship. This guy knows how to make an entrance, swooping into a fog-filled arena atop a very cool looking wyvern. It’s like something straight out of a heavy metal album cover. The first phase of the battle involves taking out the wyvern, and it’s actually not too bad for Dark Souls veterans (which you should be if you’ve made it far enough to face the Nameless King). A few different strategies work here.
But when the Nameless King dismounts, the real fight begins. It’s difficult to time when he’ll strike with his sword. His attacks do a lot of damage, and the only way to avoid his lunge is to roll through it. One small mistake can quickly turn into game over, but if you do manage to defeat him, you’ve truly mastered the Dark Souls trilogy.
