I'll do ball pythons since they have so many! All my favorites are pretty simple morphs you can eaisly get for under $300, and these are all ethical morphs with no known issues.

Clown is probably my absolute favorite bp morph. It's so pretty!

Mystic potions. I mean, c'mon! They're purple!

Enchi. It's good if you want a cool pattern disruption but without the harmful effects of the spider morph.

GHI. This morph stands for "gotta have it" - it does look super cool!

Good ol' banana. Lots of people overlook banana nowadays, especially since a lot of people don't like how bananas tend to fade out as they mature. But I love the freckles on mature banana bps!

Here's a double whammy of after-BPS cute headcanons which I made up on the spot

As Sarah learns to treat Ed better, she starts inviting him to her games with Jimmy. It doesn't matter that Ed's older, he has plenty of fun with them regardless, and she slowly realizes she loves her brother deep down :) Eventually she even ends up joining him in cozy movie nights in the basement when Edd and Eddy aren't available.

Another one, Rolf asks Kevin to teach him how to skate and do tricks cause he likes it so much. He also gets his own bike so they can ride off into the countryside and have fun racing each other, the son of a shepherd deserves to break away from the usual grind every now and then.

One day Sarah is suspicious by eds silence so she goes to see what he's up to. A quiet ed is much like a pet that suspiciously quiet: usually up to no good. So she storms down there to check it out and finds him slumped over on his bed, sad because edd and eddy are busy. Eddy probably had detention and/or is grounded while edd is doing homework at the library. She feels bad for him and offers him to join their game. Reluctantly, but she does it. Ed ends up making them laugh so much. Sarah can't remember the last time she laughed so hard with him. She starts to regret the way she's treated him over the years, and tries to actively make it a habit to include him if he's all alone. Ed sometimes makes them watch monster movies which scare Jimmy, but overall they have fun. They sometimes make him watch Disney movies as revenge but Ed loves them too.

And I love rolf and kev too!! I like to think rolf would try to impart some of his own knowledge onto kevin too! Like a "you teach me I teach you" tit-for-tat. On days when kev swings by when he's busy rolf will teach him about the things he's growing. Eventually Kevin will know more about produce than most people, and his dad is impressed when they go to the grocery store and his son can tell him all about the mighty rutabaga. Maybe Kevin even starts his own secret garden where he tries to grow his own produce to impress rolf. I could see him having a tomato vine lol.

100 Word Prompt Challenge Day 15: Photograph

Day 14: Crime

Summary: After completing your residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, your former mentor stops by to congratulate you on your newest placement as an attending.

Note: Been a hot minute since I’ve done one of these but I’ve been meaning to get back into it. So here’s Day 15. Italics indicate a flashback. Enjoy!

Five years. Five long miserable years of working your ass off to complete your residency in neurosurgery. And now you were finally done. By this time next month, you’d be on your way to Denver, where you’d be an attending surgeon at one of the best hospitals in the nation.

You were cleaning out your locker now, cramming your last clean set of scrubs into your duffel bag along with your stethoscope and the wristwatch your mom had given you after your white coat ceremony. It all felt so surreal now; you were officially a neurosurgeon, one of the upcoming names in the medical world.

“Lot to take in isn’t it, kid?”

You whipped around to see Stephen Strange standing in the doorway, dressed in his mystic garb, a friendly smile on his face as he leaned against the doorframe.

“Stephen!” You exclaimed with a wide smile, “To what do I owe the pleasure?”

Strange stepped into the locker room and you noticed that he held a small book in his hands.

“I heard you were leaving for Denver tomorrow, and as your former mentor, I figured it was only fair that I said goodbye.”

He came to a halt a few feet in front of you and handed the leatherbound book to you. You took it carefully and opened its pages. Inside, dozens of photos from your years as an intern all the way through to your first year of residency. Your smile widened, tears stinging the corner of your eyes when they landed on the first photo you had ever taken with Stephen.

There had been a car crash a few blocks away from the hospital during the first year of your internship, five cars blocking an entire intersection. You were in the ER for your rotation when the crash victims came rushing in, all of them covered in blood and grease. You followed the first victim with Gary, one of the trauma residents, over to the first available bay and began checking his vitals.

“Pulse is thready, BP is starting to drop, pupils nonresponsive.” You said, observing the vomit that was on the man’s shirt, “Looks like he vomited on the way here. Subdural hematoma?”

“Most likely.” Gary said, turning to the nurses’ station, “Page Dr. Strange now!”

Gary looked back at you, his gaze grim, “Y/N, prep our John Doe for surgery. Do anything and everything Dr. Strange tells you to do.”

Before you could argue the fact that you were a surgical intern, not a nurse, Gary was gone, already checking out the next patient. Before you could even begin going through the pre-op procedure with your patient, Dr. Stephen Strange appeared, taking his chart from your hands and looked it over.

“Who listed this patient as subdural hematoma?” He asked, looking around the room.

You raised your hand, “I- I did, sir.”

Strange’s narrowed eyes landed on you, “What made you think so?”

“Patient has a steadily dropping BP, his pupils are nonresponsive to light, he vomited on the way over here, and,”

You pointed to the patient’s skull, “There’s some obvious swelling that wasn’t there a few minutes ago.”

Strange lifted the man’s head to observe the swelling, “Hm. Good call.”

He flagged down a team of nurses and sent them into pre-op with the man, leaving you alone with him.

“Wanna come watch?” He asked you.

“From the gallery?”

“Hell no.” He scoffed, “You’re not gonna learn anything that way. Scrub in, kid. You’re on suction.”

The man had survived the surgery, thanks to your diagnosis. After the procedure was finished, Strange had pulled you aside and offered to take you on as a resident once your internship was complete. The photo had been taken by the patient’s wife after she had found out who saved her husband’s life. You had always assumed that she had kept the photo as a keepsake, but somehow Stephen had managed to get a hold of a copy of it.

You looked back up at him and wiped away a tear that had spilled over.

“Thank you, Stephen. For everything.”

“You’re welcome, Y/N. And if you ever need anything-” He waved his hand and a small business card appeared on top of the photo album, “Just give me a call.”

You laughed at the gesture, stepping forward to wrap Strange in a hug, which he happily returned.

“You’re gonna crush it, kid.” He muttered with a smile, “No doubt about it.”

Unit Teambuilding - Bede

*sigh* Okay, fine. I'll take it, but only because it's one less contender for the Galar Villain Arc. Wait no shit, that means Oleana has an opening, BEDE GET OUT OF HERE

General Overview God, where do I begin with this asshole? Okay, how about this: Natural 90% bonus to move damage and sync if the foe is confused, another 90% move damage bonus if confused, 50% natural buff to everything including Max Moves and sync if super-effective, another 20% bonus to moves if supereffective. 250% bonus move damage. Yes, the baseline move damage is like...50, but that's a surprising amount of power for only needing Confused and on-type. Add to it that he has Gobsmack 4 on grid and a Max move that confuses, and it's pretty free. But wait, he can also debuff special attack and special defense for -1 each successful attack, with a grid node that makes it -2 special defense, and another -1 to a random stat! And Mystical Fire as a base attack means -2 special attack with each use of that, while Dazzling Gleam makes this all AoE! As you may notice, Mystical Fire and Max Moves means he sets Sun, and yeah, he does, while also debuffing special defense. But wait, there's also Psybeam, so he gets Psychic Terrain too! And keep in mind, being on-type for any of these means you're pretty much guaranteed 50% bonus damage to the Max Move, which is now like 600 base damage. And just in case you thought that was enough, his trainer move gives +2 special attack and crit, and not blocks, but REFLECTS status back at the user. And he gets Ramp Up on it to cap special attack anyway in two turns.

What the fuck, Bede? Chill, my god. Honestly, I freaked out a lot harder when this kit first revealed itself, and having calmed down, the only thing that stands out as exceptional beyond things we've seen before is the 50% bonus to Max Moves. Otherwise, his damage is pretty, I'd say, standard? A Tech unit with one 90% and 50% multiplier is just Bertha, you know? And his base move damage is terrible, so the 250% is just necessary rather than tremendous. But. I think what salvages Bede from just being really good as a Fairy type to a pretty universally beneficial option, is the debuffs on top of everything else. Sure, Max Move damage and all that is great, but the debuffs. The debuffs are tremendous for someone throwing around this much power. A potential -2 special attack, -2 special defense, and -1 in another randomized stat, all in one attack? That’s -5 total. Only Classic Elesa has that kind of debuff game, and his is more targeted toward the special. Frankly, this is what sells me on him. I’m really impressed.

Team 1: Bede, BP Morty/Spring Burgh, Mina Super tank with Bede offense. The debuffs he brings are mirrored with Mina's Charm, which also allows him to kick off the Fairy-type theme skill. Spring Burgh or BP Morty bring fantastic defense buffing ability and Potion support. The main issue here is the team is slow as dirt, but everyone has really low-cost moves so frankly it might be fine.

Team 2: Bede, Diantha, Roxanne Bede, even 1/5, is a fantastic pick for Diantha's tech partner. Devastation requires special attack debuffs, and Bede is more than willing to provide in three turns, or your money back. All you'd really want beyond that would be someone to help buff, and that is its own question of who's best. I went with Roxanne, because this is a team that needs the gauge support. It takes pressure off Diantha's setup time, gives some nice defense buffs to complement Bede’s special attack debuffs, and allows for a pretty smooth process.

Team 3: Bede, SS Lusamine/Lear, Liza/Prof Oak A bit ridiculous, but hear me out. SS Lusamine doesn't need more than one application of Terrain to blitz her way through a CS stage. Especially not with Bede's raw power behind it. Support can be Liza or Oak, either way. Liza's probably better if you do this with Lear, since Rising Tide appreciates her other stat buffs.

Team 4: Bede, SS Morty, SS Red/Blue and Arcanine/Serena Bede can set Sun, which makes him a solid complement to SS Morty at lower move levels. This allows the team to sustain, but additionally, Bede provides fantastic offensive and defensive support through his debuffs. Everyone loves it. I mean except Hilda.

Team 5: Bede, Dawn, Anni N I’m gonna bring up one other thing that can be done here. One of my biggest gripes about Anni N is how long setup is without specific support, but you often don’t really want to bring your Ghetsis or Champion Iris along for the ride, because they’re on their own sync nuking duty. While Bede can be, consider this as a build that works even 1/5. Bede can rapidly debuff special attack of a single target, and gets some extra debuffs as well. Dawn debuffs foe’s attack by one every time she takes a hit. Combined, they power up N’s sync nuke, while he sets up the buffs. Bede’s inclusion of special defense drops also means he gets the foe to the ideal -18 for max sync multiplier damage, AND has Sun via Max Flare. It’s a dramatic speed up to N’s setup phase, complete with Dawn’s EX support sync giving double damage, perfectly bottomed out special defense for N’s offensive throwdown, perfect debuffs for his sync nuke, and Sun, all with a fantastic defense profile and a unit who has built-in Vigilance to get a status blocking Lucky Skill, and an emergency pop heal to full HP.

Final Thoughts Bede is surprisingly versatile. I...kinda like it. And I'm mad about it. Because I generally don't like Bede. But I do like Hatterene. And I do like this kit. But UUUUGH it's Bede. He's definitely below the Master Fair units, but Ethan was polite enough to show up early, and even SS Morty helped out to make spark here possible. So I kinda have to. For Hatterene. And those sweet, sweet debuffs. But not for Bede. Never for Bede.

Playing around Ditto

TBolt is 25% on Cress. I don't want to reveal it.

Turn 1: Cress vs. Ditto is an interesting lead matchup. Opponent will switch out; so will I. Ursaring is bulky.

Turn 2: Ursaring threatens EQ vs. Toxapex. I fear TSpikes; switch to Hatterene. 23% with Leftovers is bearable. I debate between Psychic vs. Draining Kiss. Psychic does more damage, no Dark-types vs. Cress. In retrospect I should've clicked Mystical Fire, which didn't occur to me as an option. Same BP as Draining Kiss and Defiant is annoying. (This was a mistake; what Defiant mon would want to switch in?)

Turn 3: I predict Iron Head and get read. Stonjourner is a threat. It might force me into Tera Ground Ursaring. I go Cress.

Math excursion: Stone Edge is 80% to hit. if you roll two five-sided dice, what are the odds that neither comes up 5? There are 25 outcomes: (1 1), (2 1) ... (5 1), (1 2) ... (5 2), ... (5 5). Out of these, we have (1 5) (2 5) (3 5) (4 5) (5 5) and (5 1) (5 2) (5 3) (5 4) (5 5), but 5 appears twice, so (25 - 9)/25 = 16/25 = 4²/5² = 64% to hit.

But it's 20% that I can stay in. Ursaring is a new 20% and a roll on top of the 64%. I'd rather sac than tera early.

Non-math excursion: this is all System 1. I don't know probability. If it's an 80.9% roll with a 64% chance to hit, what are the odds of a 2HKO? But there are better and worse outcomes. Stone Edge has a high crit chance (1/8 = 12.5%), but that doesn't matter here; the worst outcome is a 2HKO, and there are better outcomes where I hit. I don't think it really matters, though; if I'd seen a better line I'd taken it, and getting better at probability will pay off on the ladder way less than learning not to tilt. I suspect that generalizes.

Turn 8: I get one EQ and give up Ursaring for damage on Stonjourner. I can RK with Beartic. But opponent switches out to Toxapex, which is a good play.

I can't set up because of Ditto, and I have to answer Toxapex with Hatterene to play around Toxic or TSpikes, I don't know which. I haven't revealed Swalot yet; I'm hoping to bait TSpikes, but I also also haven't needed to reveal it. I need an information advantage.

Opponent's gameplan is to chip me down with Toxapex and Forretress. Forretress can't switch in on Hatterene safely, but Toxapex can't stay in.

Palafin revealed. Another threat, but TBolt looks good here. I'll try to set up, pressure Ditto, and Tera Electric at the right moment.

After some shuffling, turn 15: Toxapex comes in vs. Cress. Pex can live a hit, Toxic my wincon, and switch out, and with Regenerator that's not enough progress for that concession. I reveal Swalot predicting Toxic.

Turn 19: TSpikes is a mistake. I can always go Swalot. Stonjourner can't switch in and Cress has TBolt for Palafin. I'll have to make concessions for chip on Forretress. Cress can tank and recover.

Turn 28: Picking up Stonjourner is nice. I don't have to worry about a future LO-boosted Stone Edge and I don't have to preserve Beartic. My team is pretty slow and Volc does nothing with Palafin around.

Turn 32: Band? I still don't want to tera. I don't need to. Precise calculation is important.

Turn 35: I could Tera Electric here, but I want the optionality, so I take a quieter line and concede Toxic for the initiative. Obviously Pex will switch out. I'm not sure that this was accurate - if I'd gotten predicted and switched in Swalot on a Recover, the position would get hairy. I don't fear Band Palafin.

Everything I do has to be positioned against Ditto. Cress improofs itself as long as it doesn't tera. Swalot improofs Hatterene. Cress improofs Swalot. Beartic can't come in, but at some point I can CC and sac to pressure Ditto... and the last mon is a Torterra!

I have a lore related question whenever you're available, have battle priests always been accepted or understood? The most common religion is paganism so I think that witchhood and mysticism would be less stigmatized, but has there been conflicts between the priests and common people due to their rituals and power? Do they have conflicted opinions of them, and has their been communities that even outright rejected the priests for their use of magic, or has the threat of demons made them more treasured or idolized? Again whenever you're available, absolutely no rush! ^^

Oh the BPs have historically been well regarded in their communities, because they are seen as the main line of defence against any demons that act badly. Being able to wield the power to do so is also helpfully considered "by the will of God(s)" in most religions and therefore good magic as opposed to creepy DEMONIC magic. That being said there have been some conflicts and that's usually if a BP has gungho'd into a "neutral ground" place and is being an ass for no good reason.

One way to look at it is most humans consider them like guardian angels and most demons on Earth consider them like bogeymen :V

🤔 Hmm it’s mainly a found family road trip with some drama and horror elements. And probably blasphemy. So a mix of both dark and light...i think most of it will be like M to MA15? (somewhere around PG13 for those of you on the other side of the world lol)

If you could only pick five snake species to have as pets for the rest of your life, which ones would you choose?

Oh gosh, this is actually a pretty tough question! There are so many species that make such awesome pets, it's hard to choose!

Rainbow boas, definitely. I've said it before, but these are my favorite snakes to keep - they just hit that perfect sweet spot for me in so many areas. They're beautiful, the perfect size so they're easy to handle, usually good eaters, and they hide a lot but are also active enough to be awesome to watch, especially as adults. Brazilians specifically are my favorites!

They aren't good beginner snakes, but they're on the low-maintenance end of advanced-level snakes. They're great pets for diligent keepers, and they're very smart and rewarding to work with. Fulfilling pets all around.

Boa constrictors. BCs are delights in practically every way. I love a big snake, and well-socialized BCs tend to have such easy-going, chill personalities. Super easy snakes to work with - easy to handle, easy to feed!

My favorite thing about BCs is what a treat they are to handle. They're big without being too much for one keeper to safely handle, and a socialized BC is often slow-moving and easy to get so tame you can hold their big ol' heads in your hand. They're just delightful, and so beautiful, too!

Kingsnakes. I adore kingsnakes. If I had to pick a specific species, I'd probably go with California or Mexican black kings. They're almost as easy to take care of as a cornsnake, with just a little bit more oomph. Curious, active, wonderful little snakes, and basically bomb-proof once you get them established. They're so easy to work with, and such little joys, too!

Working with so many sick snakes as part of my job has made me appreciate a snake that loves to eat, and kingsnakes definitely fit that bill! Most of my kings will hardly ever turn down a meal, and honestly, when you're working with sick snakes and just spend every day praying that they'll eat, that's such a relief.

Ball pythons. This is a basic answer, I guess, but these guys are such cuties! I just can't get over their adorable little faces, and bps are overwhelmingly such docile, sweet-natured little snakes. They can be a bit fussy and sensitive, but they're easily cute enough to make up for it!

The obvious bonus with these guys is all the morphs! It's so easy to find awesome-looking bps, and even normals are just stunning! I love albino, clown, enchi, and mystic potion ball pythons especially.

Hognose snakes! I can't imagine my life without these little drama queens. I tend to like intelligent snakes that I can train and work with a little bit more deeply, and hognoses are...not that. If you listen closely, you can hear their single braincell bouncing around. But what they lack in intelligence, they make up for in sheer chutzpah!

Hoggies are so personable and so fun! I love their silly little upturned noses, their big eyes, that loud little hiss. I love that, for most of my snakes, I'd be concerned if they started hissing at me, but I have hognoses who I'm more concerned if they're not throwing a hissy fit every now and then. I love that they're so easy to handle - they're very slow-moving for such small snakes! I just adore everything about these little goofballs.

This whole year was plagued by bulling accusation; idols, actors and athletes had to apologize to their victims and face backlash, some lost their careers, others got away with a slap on their wrist, and some were falsely accused and had to prove their innocence. There were also some dating scandals and lots of disbanding news. So here are the most important k-pop scandals of 2021.

Ok let's do this *cracks knuckles*

So. Lance as black Paladin. There's a concept I have a lot of mixed feelings about.

I'm gonna start off by saying that bp Lance is definitely a much better idea than bp Keith. While Keith, at the core of who he is as a character, lacks every ideal trait for the role of bp (which isn't bad! leading Voltron just wasn't for him is all), Lance actually displays some of those traits.

"The black lion is the decisive head of Voltron. It will take a pilot who is a born leader and in control at all times, someone whose men will follow without hesitation."

Lance may not be everyone's first choice of a 'born leader', nor is he in control 100% of the time, however he does have the ability to take control in a situation when he needs to and make decisions for the benefit of the team, and knows what to say to get them to follow him.

He's very good at taking everything into account and finding the best solution in situations (which be barely ever gets recognition for, might I add).

Lance taking the lead definitely would have been a compelling arc for his character, especially seeing as he's never usually taken seriously. It would have given him more development and respect as a character.

And I do understand people's reasoning behind the headcanon. I personally was left with quite a sour taste in my mouth to see Lance so genuine and desperate to prove himself,

only for him be treated like a joke once again.

A lot of people saw that spark and ambition in him, and were rightfully disappointed that it was all for nothing. And I agree. At this point, if any one of the Paladins who are left (besides Allura) deserves to pilot Black, it's Lance.

Instead, he was left feeling second best to Keith once again, always expected to follow him and try to fill his shoes.

And Lance definitely deserves better than that.

However, all of this doesn't change the fact that the very concept of the Paladins switching from one lion to another was just a terrible idea.

From the beginning, it's made clear that each paladin has a special, unique bond to their lions. It was an unbelievable coincidence - some might say fate - that they, the perfect matches for their specific lions, were brought together and hand delivered to the castle.

"As you have found, the lions choose their pilots. It is a mystical bond and cannot be forced. The quintessence of the pilot is mirrored in his lion. Together, they form something greater than science can explain."

When you start switching lions with each other, it lessens the weight of those bonds. Now, it doesn't feel like the Paladins are special or chosen for any reason at all. It just feels like anyone who concentrates hard enough could pilot a lion if they wanted to, as others have pointed out (see this meta on how the lion switch was bad for every character it affected).

It just makes no sense at all for someone to be able to pilot multiple lions.

The only person for whom it could possibly make sense to have the ability to pilot multiple lions is Allura - but that's for a whole other post.

So, Allura aside, lion switching is just a terrible idea. It's detrimental to all the characters, as well as the plot and the whole idea of Voltron. Lance definitely deserves to be treated better, but if we're looking at changing canon, there are many better ways of providing that.

What I would have loved to see is some kind of arc for Lance where he takes the lead in a different way. Maybe the team decide to follow one of his plans, finally taking him seriously for once. He wouldn't be the black Paladin, no, but he would get to show off what he's really capable of.

And maybe after that mission is successful, the team will realise how valuable Lance's skills are, and he'll take on a more active role in providing input for battle strategies and making decisions.

Because I don't think Lance needs to become like Shiro or Keith to be worthy and valued. I love his bond with blue, and I love the potential for him to grow into who he was always supposed to be, and not into a different person.

Alright, the next contender is Entei, back for another round of Gauntlet. Entei proved to be more annoying than I expected last Gauntlet, but how does it hold up now? Fifteen wins, how’d they go?

Crasher Wake, Tech Blastoise, Lana Kicking this off right, we test out Crasher Wake’s new grid! It’s...fine? I guess? He didn’t exactly dazzle me. Lana did, though. Lana always dazzles on these Fire-type Gauntlet stages. Team Fire Guard, Wide Guard, Gradual Healing, fantastic sustain. Lana’s so good. Wake kinda had to get lucky to keep up. This wasn’t super clean, and his sync nuke could go real bad if Rain or Flinch ran out. Thankfully, Entei has like no Flinch resistance starting out, so...you can guess where this goes.

Kris, Aaron, Will I probably could’ve saved Will, but I wanted Flinch Insurance. Aaron remains exceptional at 3/5, the accuracy buffs single-handedly salvage Kris and her damage, which is frankly tremendous. She’ll kick you apart. She’ll kick you apart.

Sabrina, May, Cyrus Classic team is classic, you all know how this one goes. There is nothing new or interesting to say, they dunk all over this guy.

Swimsuit Misty, Brock, Nessa Okay full disclosure. When I broke down potential general pool teams, this was one recommended, and I mentioned I hated it because they’re slow as dirt. That was true, they were still slow. But Nessa...hit way harder than I remember. I may not have had her 3/5 and built up at the time, but this was a completely different experience. She won pretty easily.

Sycamore, Barry, Tech Gyarados Sycamore/Barry is a known powerhouse combo against this fight, but Tech Gyarados is spectacular here as well. The Aggravation 2 flinch rate is high, and Rain support means Barry can explode entire HP bars with minimal issue. This was a really strong comp.

SS Blue, SS Misty, SS Brock Sygna Suit Kanto theme! I feel unclean. Anyway, SS Blue is a strong tank in Gauntlet, and keeps the party alive. Brock’s new grid bestows Aggravation, which keeps Entei locked down while Misty gets ready to sync nuke. Which she does pretty well, I have to say.

Winter Rosa, Summer Steven, Candice If I asked you at the outset to guess which of these teams had the easiest time, how many of you would’ve guessed this one? Well too bad, it was this one. Summer Steven just got every flinch perfectly, except for one, at which point Candice landed her 10% freeze rate and dunked on him anyway. Her sync nuke just exploded Entei into another dimension. I think we took like two hits the entire time. Absolutely lucky outcome, but so, so funny.

Leaf, SS Grimsley, BP Zinnia Did you know BP Zinnia’s status shield doesn’t block secondary effects? I sure didn’t. Super great, thanks game. Anyway. Flinch rate is high, so they can kinda just keep dunking on him until Grimsley steamrolls. Pretty straight forward. Good to note: Leaf’s Potion heals up Grimsley after his gambit for crit rate. That’s why she’s paired with him, she’s like the only one capable of keeping him alive.

Ingo, Emmet, Tech Raticate Finally, after a whole year, now I am the Train Bros master! Emmet has flinch, which as noted, is fantastic. Ingo sets Sandstorm and pushes Emmet’s damage to absurd levels. Tech Raticate has Screech. That is the only reason it’s here. It worked, though.

Roxanne, Bede, Diantha Bede’s really good at debuffing in Gauntlet. At 3/5, Mystical Fire was a pretty consistent -2 special attack and special defense, which is great for Diantha’s Devastation build. Roxanne keeps gauge high and takes boosting pressure off Diantha, while also supplying defense buffs to round out the defensive profile of the team. Also, Wide Guard blocks guaranteed Burn Heat Wave. Dunked, idiot.

SS Dawn, SS May, Caitlin My Psychic girls. I love them. This was a clean win, no struggle at all. The deck was stacked pretty hard in their favor, though.

SS Lusamine, Bianca, Glacia So with Lusamine, I tried to give Entei a fighting chance, and put Glacia as the support. Okay, this was more to conserve supports, but I need to tell you the story of the first failed attempt. Glacia almost carried. That sounds like a joke, but I’m dead serious. She freeze locked the entire first bar. The only reason we lost was because Bianca didn’t get MPR on Psychic Terrain, and Lusamine missed crit on what should’ve been a fatal sync. The second attempt went better, although Glacia didn’t freeze. Instead, she kept activating the team defense buffs, and actually saved us from death by allowing Bianca to unexpectedly tank Double Edge. I never thought I’d see the day, but Glacia did something. Twice, even!

H!Caitlin, Princess Hilda, Tech Magneton Hilda buffs her crit reliably, Caitlin buffs offenses for her, including speed for multiplier, then defenses. Magneton debuffs defense. The result is carnage. Hilda’s damage is absurd.

Phoebe, Spring May, Sophocles UUUUUUGH. Okay. This was probably the most annoying clear of the Gauntlet. Definitely of Entei. Sophocles was consistently a brat about getting needed flinches. I tried once to use Spring May without getting MPR to get an accuracy buff post-sync, and she missed twice in a row and immediately died, on 90% rolls. Phoebe is not a good tank. But by god, I made it work. Spring May is only 2/5, which...frankly may have contributed to the disaster that was her damage output. She missed a crit on sync and I swear dealt like 200 damage.

Sidney, Kukui, Marlon Man, I can’t wait for Marlon’s grid. Unironically, this is twice now he’s been like...a legitimately good tank. Granted, Kukui carried with the flinch rate and Leer to set up absurd numbers on Sidney’s sync, but still. Marlon keeps being useful in unexpected ways, and I’m really looking forward to his grid.

Final Thoughts Entei’s a butt. Much like Bulu, he can be cheesed thanks to exceptionally low initial resistance to flinch (although he does build up resistance each time he recovers). The real problem is that flinch is inconsistent, and when it doesn’t work, it’s not just irritating, it’s a disaster, because every attack Entei gets buffs its defense or special defense depending on which part of the fight you’re on. In bar 3, missing that flinch means the team is now burned. It’s really rough for something that’s reliant on playing the odds. And the fact it buffs to +3 crit means frailer offensive threats are legitimately scared of just the damage when things don’t pan out. I consider Entei deceptively tough. There are plenty of tools to work against it, especially given how many good Water-type damage dealers we have, but there’s a lot that can punish poor teambuilding considerations.
