While im on the topic, the seething hatred by a huge chunk of this fandom towards Vaggie is so baffling to me. I'm not saying I expected her to be popular. I'm not new to loving an unpopular/ignored character. But the way some of these people go out of their way to misinterpret her so badly to justify their very vocal hatred for her is just such a huge shock.

A New Judgment Chapter 2: Two Offers and a Smack (Poly Judgment Day Fic)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Written by Scarletxraine who can’t seem to remember to post to this godforsaken hellsite so has me post here for your enjoyment!
Part 1. Part 2. Part 3. Part 4. Part 5. Part 6. Part 7.
The men of the Judgement Day share a confused look. "Well, that makes things more interesting." Damien comments once Triple H and Nessa were gone.
"Dom, did you know she was going to be here?" Finn asks, stepping over to Dominik and helping him off the exam bed. Dominik doesn't answer, just looks down at his hand that is clasping the bracelet.
"Dom are you ok man?" Damien asks, starting to worry about his young partner. "Hey what's going on in your head..." He messes with Dominik's hair.
"I gave her this on our anniversary last year. It was tantamount to a proposal how much it meant that I gave it to her." "What do you mean? You broke off an engagement to join us?" Finn asks confused and ready to slap the young man upside the head.
"Not exactly. My grandmother wanted me to give it to the woman I wanted to marry, it wasn't a proposal but more of an intent to propose," He explains "Ow! What the fuck man!" His hand goes to his head that Finn just slapped.
"She seems damn near perfect why would you leave her? You know you could have just joined us as a teammate and not romantic partner, or you both could have joined as our partners?" Damien chides.
"My dad got in my head talking about how mom suffered, and I remembered him never being there for major moments but bringing me in for shock factor when it suited him. I was never around, and I didn't want her to suffer like that and have to see a story of me and someone else. I ended it to protect her, she deserves better than what I can give. Plus, I don't know if she would be ok with that. She gets jealous and territorial." Dominik shrugs.
"Let me get this right," Finn starts and takes a breath, "The girl you apparently wanted to marry and still apparently want to, who is in healthcare like your mum and understands and supports you unconditionally... You break up with her to protect her feelings and in the process break her heart and she still loves and supports you." Finn slaps him upside the head again. "You are a fucking idiot you know that Dom, you fucked up big time."
"Yeah, and I want to fix it at least be friends with her. I want her in my life as selfish as that sounds..." Dominik looks at his partners like a kicked puppy.
"Well, we were texting Mami and agreed that if she wants to join our relationship, she can, we just have to negotiate. If that is something you want of course it has to be a unanimous decision. Or you can get with her again and we all just remain friends too." Damien offers knowing what Dominik's answer will be.
"I don't want to leave you guys either, I don't know." Dom almost whines.
"Well going off her response when we told her she seems receptive enough to maybe broach the subject if you make things right with her." Finn analyzes the conversation from earlier as they head to their locker room.
"We can help, you are not in this alone." Damien offers and Dominik smiles and nods in agreement.
"Right so here is what we will do..." Finn starts.
Nessa and Triple H only walk for a few minutes until they reach his office. He holds the door open for her and holds out a chair for her before he goes and sits behind his desk. A thick stack of papers conspicuously sitting in front of him. "Without realizing it you cut some excellent promos. You made people conflicted about the match and got people on your side." He explains and shows her tweets of people supporting her and the hashtag #justicefornessa trending.
"To be honest I didn't even want to come but Mr. Gutierrez insisted, begged even and to be honest I am hurt about why he did it." Nessa eyes the stack of papers.
"To be honest with you I knew he was bringing you and he worked some things out. He wants to help his son and you. Even with the betrayal he still loves him. He didn't mean to hurt you or really manipulate him." He looks at her sympathetic. "Rey wants to help Dominik, in both his personal life and his career and he asked me to give you a job. It was brought to my attention that you applied to be part of our medical not long after Dominik joined the company. I would like to extend a formal offer. It would be a dual contract. Less than normal talent but more than traditional medical and probably more than you make now." He smiles proud that they came up with this plan.
Nessa looks confused but not surprised, "What do you mean sir?"
"You are a nurse, right?" He asks.
"Yeah, a charge nurse on the Peds Unit."
"Well, we want you to be part of our medical team of doctors and nurses that travel alongside the talent and shows both taped and un-taped. And to be a talent, part of the story and potentially getting physically involved with a potential of matches in the future if both parties agree." He explains and she is intrigued.
"I can't just up and leave my job, I'm under contract and don't want to risk the children's lives." She explains.
"We can buy out your contract, we contacted the facility where you work to put a plan in place only if you agree so there is coverage on short notice." He doesn't even look sheepish.
"So, you and Rey planned this? Why?" She levels a soft glare at him.
"Rey thinks you both can get closure or back together if you had a chance to talk and wants to make sure both of you are happy and taken care of as I said, even though Dom has a grudge against his dad at the moment. Made the story that much easier since it is true." He gives a sheepish smile.
"I can't make any promises, but I'll look over the contract and have my lawyer do the same. When would you like an answer by?" Is her response as she holds out her hands for the stack of papers.
"We would like an answer by Wednesday so we can bring you on at Smackdown and get you some training, which you will continue with your team and an assigned trainer, and safety tests if you are ok getting physical." He answers leaning back in his chair.
"You also have some control over what direction your story goes with them, we are thinking a triangle between you Dom, and Rhea or a "relationship" between you and Damien going by how you two reacted to each other after the match." He adds on.
"What about their true dynamic?" She asks trying.
"We are unsure about unveiling that to the public, they barely accept LGBTQ people and subtext, we don't know how they would handle that." He shrugs, at least honest.
"It would be an interesting thing to explore and explains their dynamic better." She offers and thinking more to herself.
"That is true and something we might explore if the opportunity presents itself. I do hope you decide to join us, Miss Klein." He stands up offering his hand to shake again.
"Thank you for the offer, sir, and please call me Nessa." She gets up and shakes his hand.
"Then call me Paul," He answers, adding, "I look forward to your answer either way Wednesday." He gestures to the door his assistant standing there.
"Rhea wanted to see me, could I go talk to her before I leave?" She stops at the door and asks.
"Yeah, Heather, please show her where Rhea is." He orders, and Heather nods and leads the way. Once there she knocks on the pole before pulling the curtain aside revealing Rhea stretching. She sees Nessa enter and walks over, placing her arm around Nessa's shoulders.
"Finally, I was beginning to think you left mini-me."
"I was going to. Just because I am happy, he has you doesn't mean I want to see it." She shrugs out of Rhea's arm not wanting to be caught in a compromising position in case anyone comes in.
"What's that you got there luv?" Rhea gestures to the stack of papers in Nessa's hand. Nessa looks down and hugs it to her chest.
"Oh, uh nothing to worry about. You wanted to talk to me?"
"Yes doll, come sit let's talk before the boys join us and I have to go to my match." Rhea gestures to the couch. "I wanted to make sure to tell you Dominik never cheated on you. He started as just a wrestling partner. He didn't join our romantic dynamic until weeks after he left you. We even gave him the option of bringing you in on the dynamic if you consented. I don't want you to think he cheated on you." Rhea explains and puts a comforting hand on Nessa's thigh, an intimate gesture she doesn't shake off.
"I don't think that, I figured it was something like that. I don't hold it against you as long as he is happy and safe, I'm happy for him." Nessa places her hand on Rheas and squeezes it before continuing.
"That just means he doesn't want to be with me, that I wasn't enough, which hurts more and makes me wonder what is wrong with me." Nessa word-vomits, and Rhea looks dismayed and places her hand on Nessa's cheek gently directing her to meet her gaze.
"Hey no, stop that. There is absolutely nothing wrong with you. From what I've seen and heard from Dom you are an angel. I'm sure there was a reason in his idiot mind, you know how men are never thinking through their decisions until after. Did he even ask you about the dynamic before leaving you?" Rhea consoles, rubbing Nessa's back. Nessa shakes her head no, trying to keep from crying.
"I don't know why I'm spilling all this to you, and now I've been offered a job to add to the drama and join the medical team and I don't know what to do..." Nessa sniffles.
"Well sweetheart you preach about wanting Dom Dom to be happy, but what about you? You need to do what makes you happy too. Now it looks like you need a hug." Rhea advises and stands up holding her arms out for a hug. Nessa gets up and hugs her finding a strong sense of comfort in Rhea's arms her eyes closed.
She processes the conversation, and her eyes fly open and steps back from Rhea. "Wait you said something about me joining your relationship?!"
Rhea looks sheepish and nervous and glances at the ground. "Well yeah, if that is something you would like we are open to the idea." She answers.
Nessa stands shocked, unsure how to answer when the boys fling open the curtain and walk in, stopping in their tracks when they see Nessa.
"Hey Mamita, you are still here?" Damien exclaims throwing his arm over her shoulder which shocks her out of her thoughts.
"Uh yeah, Rhea wanted to talk to me."
"Oh yeah when we're alone you can call me Demi," Rhea smiles kindly trying to not make it weirder.
"I'm Luis if you didn't know." Damien gives her a half hug before plopping on the couch.
"You can still call me Finn." Finn chimes in and Dominik is having a staring contest with the ground. Finn and Damien share a look and smile seeing the stack of papers in Nessa's hand.
"Demi, thank you for your honesty and being so kind, I really appreciate it. I value honesty a lot." Nessa smiles a real smile at her and goes over and gives her one more hug to show she doesn't feel weird about the conversation. "It is a lot to process, maybe we'll talk later. Get my number from Dominik if he still remembers it." Nessa adds, throwing a dig at Dom who won't meet her eyes and mumbles sorry under his breath. Finn snickers and nudges the young man.
"Can we all get your number mariposa?" Damien asks winking at Nessa who can't control the blush that creeps up her face as she nods her head. Rhea tries to hide her smile and ends up smirking.
Nessa clears her throat. "Uh could someone show me the way out, I have to work tomorrow morning and want to go to bed. I've had enough excitement for tonight." She asks, and Dominik looks up for the first time.
"Yeah, reinita I'll show you." He steps towards her, but Damien stops him after seeing Nessa's expression.
"You just had a rough match, you need to rest. I'll show mamita out." Damien offers holding out his elbow and Nessa takes it mouthing thanks.
"Hey, I hope we see you again soon!" Finn waves goodbye and Nessa smiles back at him as she walks out of the room with Damien who makes conversation.
"So mamita, I need to ask how do you feel about what you learned today. Are you ok? He pats her hand that is still resting on her elbow.
"Honestly yes, I myself am more flexible with my sexuality, I am proudly pansexual and have no issue with the thought of polyamory. It is more so the fact I am jealous by nature and don't know how I myself could handle it so I am not sure it is for me." She answers honestly but doesn't add on what she was thinking that she is open to try.
"I'm glad you are handling this well, you say you are jealous by nature, but I see no jealousy or being territorial from you regarding Dom."
"Because it has been months and I have begun to accept that he doesn't want to be with me, and as I have said multiple times, I just want him happy I just wish I could be the one to do it." She smiles sadly as they reach the exit door for talent.
"Hey, you made him happy it wasn't your fault he did what he did. I think he freaked out and made a mistake and doesn't know how to fix it. Hopefully, I see you around mamita." He opens the door for her, and she rolls her eyes because she knows what he has been calling her all night.
"That's not my name!" She calls out smiling as she walks out the door, the contract clutched tightly in her hands.

i also wish people would be more receptive to relationship speculation, at the very least. there were so many moments in fionna and cake where simon and fionna’s interactions had me raising my eyebrows and thinking “wow, what’s up with this chemistry rn?” but i know posting about it to see if others also noticed would get me dogpiled lol. glad i’m not the only one entertaining the ship and its implications to/for the characters it encompasses.
also winter king/simon is intriguing as well, if only in a weird homestuck self-shipping (dave and davesprite anyone?) kind of way where both characters get to have major epiphanies bc they’re basically looking into a mirror (may be more of a funhouse mirror for winter king/simon but still works lol)
i do not ship any of these pairings, please dont take this post from a shipping perspective
i apologize in advanced if this post is said messy. its given an opening to many things ive been thinking about since the start of the show and i know i wanna come back to it in case any new developments were to happen at the final season 1 episodes tldr; Kai Talks About how much i Love Very Messed Up Pairings, not because i want them to actually be together, but because i am NOT the type to ignore Seeds That Have been Planted in canon so i will Grow Horrible Realizations i've been having out of them
YEAH NO BECAUSE I LIKE. I JUST WANNA POINT OUT WHAT'S CANON OKAY!! i think this post is like. the only one ive seen that Has Pointed out The Adventure Time Ice King/Fionna dynamic in the lenses of the Simon we have today....and even then thats just a joke post :")
because like. okay. i need people to think about this for a second: yes, ice king didn't Come With with Fionna and Cake's existence, but why in the world would he Choose to be responsible for writing it? for bringing their stories to life and showing off a world that's been living in his head? i genuinely think people don't really like the ugly side of how badly loneliness has mutated Ice King's way of thinking (i mean for gods sake the guy tries to kiss/get with anyone, mf cant even recognize the person he claims to be falling in love with). that, yeah. of course if he had a World Living inside his brain that felt so Real to him that he CONSTANTLY wished for it to not only but true, but one that would be close to him!! one that would welcome him!!!! no matter what itd be, romantic, platonic, To the point of Worship....like ANYTHING that would bring him closer to genuine Connection in his alienating experience. NOTABLY for fionna The Human!!! the human that parallels a real life actual kid that mostly has kicked Ice King's ass to eventually treating him like a Poor confused Old Lost Guy. still, i need to stress the kind of dynamic finn and the ice king have is NOWHERE near the kind of dynamic fionna and ice king have (and even with simon developments included). . ...except this time around, even when he does have his own parallel Ice Queen existing manifesting the Must Needed Rival for their universe to make sense, mutating her character into something that to make her more Vicious/Violent, making Ice King seem Nicer In Comparison and dare i say that, yeah...! some of that HAS been carried onto modern day Fionna!! who CANONICALLY has romantic feelings towards ice prince and the winter king, parallels to ice king/simon himself! just. sorry but i NEED both Simon and Fionna to like. Read Those Stories. I Need them to revisit the VERY specific stories that Ice King felt the need to tell in the first place, his and other people in their lives' inclusions. it would not only reinforce Simon's Influence in the world Period, something that he found himself doubting on ...but also I NEEEEEEDDD to see that can of worms opened. i NEED for Fionna to see for herself the people SHE'S supposed to be representing. i NEED for her to see what kind of void she's been filling in Ice King/Simon's time of existence. i NEED for her to see how big the Obsession GOT, how badly Ice King needed that outlet of escapism (and how much Simon still returns to it in the present day)
Tumblr media
^ this moment has been living in my brain ever since the announcement of the Fionna and Cake series that Fionna's fixation on the ice prince, her life, her..everything in general, is more or less a Weird Reflection of the lives of People living Greater Lives than she ever believed to have lived, combined with how said proclaimed experiences of Magic have only been recorded by a guy who Inserted Himself in a world she doesnt even recall living in Im surprised that. hasnt been so Stressed yet in show. im prepared to eat my words if they DO come back to it. but for the time being i really wish Fionna found out how desperate Simon/Ice King was for someone to acknowledge and Desire His Existence, to a degree that would be absolutely humiliating/weird to uncover but Necessary to come back to in order to truly understand the Scope of what 1000+ years of Madness through Ostracization (from others and eventually the Self) Does to a MF
__________ AS OF FOR MY THOUGHTS ON THE WINTER KING, he alas only truly an episode to explore. but the thoughts still exist nonetheless!!! for the most part i can only truly indulge in it out of pure hilarity for its existence, while acknowledging how much im so thankful that winter king was characterized as he was n didnt overstay his welcome, as i didnt find him necessary to stay in the narrative . there's a lot of feelings i have about simon/ice king's perception of himself alone, and how most of it is Either Negative or Overcompensation Due to his own self negativity. which makes me curious on what could come of a Better Version of Himself, looking at the version of himself that has "failed" to conquer the crown the way he has, but contemplated on pursuing romantically, even for a brief moment honestly, i dont blame people for being invested in this pairing (in comparison to fionna/simon, where i cannot myself entertain it even as a joke unlike this one). it makes me curious on what the Winter King's definition of romance is in comparison to Simon's. what could even be desirable, possibly, in the eye's of the Winter King? Does the love of someone you'll go mad over truly make you a Better Person Or Worse? Simon and Winter King existing in the same room together brings up so many questions and possible ways to explore Simon's character. wayyyyyyyyyy less of a "this can be simon's way of practicing self love" thing and MUCH more of a "These Guys Kissing each other would be the equivalent of the Narcissus Tale but with a Distorted Reflection that only Represents You because the reflection Demands That of you"

I know that it’s not realistic to headcanon that all of my favs are ace especially when there is canon evidence that says otherwise but it’s not my fault that all my blorbos are actually ace so 🤷‍♀️
(I have only seen broadchurch s1 and s2, but spoilers for those, and TW for not entirely enthusiastic sex/internalized acephobia/Tess being Not Nice to Alec and also Alec being Not Nice to himself…)
Alec Hardy is ace and always has been. The thought of sex makes him mildly nauseous. He might not know precisely how to label how he feels but as gross as the deed makes him feel he really truly did love Tess romantically and he tried to make her happy and do what she seemed so enthusiastic to do (and he got Daisy out of it so he’ll never regret it), but his reluctance (“Can’t I just hold you instead?” Tess rolls her eyes and shifts away from him on the bed, brushing his hand away when he reaches for her) may have been a contributing factor to things falling apart.
He asks Becca because he’s so confused and he’s such a mess and people keep saying it will help (it never has) and if part of him is so disgusted with himself he thinks he’d deserve it anyway nobody needs to know…
Nonny! Oh my god! Now to preface, I tend to do the same and just headcanon all my favorite characters as ace because I'm ace and I can do what I want. BUT! I've headcanoned Alec Hardy as asexual since I first watched the show!!!! He's one of my favorite ace headcanoned characters!!!! Oh I'm thrilled to talk about this.
Alec Hardy is totally asexual!!! All of what you said. All of it. My headcanons incoming! So he has ZERO interest in sex and always had. He did it just to please Tess but would never initiate and after a while Tess got pissed off and annoyed at always having to be the one to initiate and believes he doesn't care about her since he doesn't initiate anything physical. That, coupled with Alec never being home because of work, was a major contributing factor to her cheating on him during Sandbrook. Alec never liking sex but yes like you said he got Daisy out of it so in the end he can't regret having sex with her (even though he didn't want to have sex).
After Daisy starts living with him she notices how little he dates and how disgusted he usually looks when anything sex related comes up that she asks him if he's asexual. He's never heard of that before and she shows him some websites and he finally finds the word for what feels.
Ahh god I love it! So many ideas!
Oh guess what! I've found a couple of fics with ace Hardy! Please enjoy!

Merry Christmas to all, and to all, a good (wedding) night!
Some spice below the cut, obvs.
They ended up staying at the reception for a few hours, mostly because of the food. Chef had outdone himself with the spread. "I am unsure," T'Pol said, taking a bite of cake and watching their crewmates, "if our presence is even truly required."
"Any excuse for a party, I guess," Trip chuckled, stealing some of her cake. She retaliated by liberating one of his biscuits.
But it wasn't just any party - it was their wedding reception, so they were toasted by the senior staff (everyone agreed that Malcolm's toast was actually the best, something Hoshi would never quite be able to forgive him for), and cheerful congratulations rained down on them both. So they slipped away a few times to talk in private, and once just to allow T'Pol to drink her tea in peace. Finally, they made their true exit, but since they were on a small starship, there was no honeymoon getaway awaiting them, just the use of the guest quarters.
Which was more than adequate under the circumstances, as T'Pol's quarters were packed up in anticipation of her imminent departure. In thirty-six hours, she would leaving for Earth to begin her new assignment, and Trip would be left waiting to join her. He was trying not to think about that.
"So," he asked, "any regrets yet?" She gave him an amused look.
"None thus far." She sat and began to remove her shoes, looking thoughtful. "It was a very pleasing wedding."
"Nothin' fancy, nothin' over the top, nothin' too...cultural," he agreed.
"Only the culture of Enterprise," she said. "Which is fitting, I think."
He nodded in happy agreement, trying to stifle a yawn. His success only lasted a moment before it returned, hugely and with a vengeance. She watched him with gentle sympathy. "It has been an eventful day," she said. "We should get some sleep."
"Not yet!" he protested. At her confused expression, he exclaimed, "It's our weddin' night!"
That didn't help. "And?"
"Well...it's traditional for the married couple to...celebrate privately after the wedding."
"To have sex."
"Yeah."
"But you are tired," she said. "As am I, in all honesty. It has been a long day. What is the significance in having sex tonight as opposed to any other night?"
"For one, you're leavin' the day after tomorrow!"
"Which would indicate that tomorrow would the logical time to have sex."
He stared at her. "Are you really logic-ing me? Now? About this?" She returned the stare, intent on her quest for understanding.
"Is this another marital superstition? Is there some ritual significance to sexual contact within a certain number of hours of the wedding ceremony?"
"No! It's just-"
This was going awry, she realized. Time for a different tack. She touched his face, her palm to his cheek. "Trip," she said softly, "you know that I enjoy every form of intimacy we share." He nodded. "So is it not logical to share the intimacy of sleep tonight, when we will have all of tomorrow to do with as we please?"
He squinted at her, mouth pursed hard, because he disapproved of her logic but could not actually dispute it. The he yawned again, and gave up. "You're right," he said dejectedly.
She lowered her hand, the better to put her arms around him. He leaned into the hug, resting his chin on her shoulder. "It will be worth forebearing," she murmured.
"Promise?"
Statistical probability seemed to be on her side. "Yes."
They stood together quietly until he was attacked by another yawn. She nudged him towards the bed. "At least I am still gettin' to sleep with you," he said, pulling off his shirt.
"Precisely."
He lay down, holding his arms open for her, and she contentedly settled against his chest. Sex (at least with him) was extremely enjoyable in ways she had been frankly unaware of for the majority of her life, and gaining that understanding had been extraordinarily rewarding. It was only with the growth of their relationship that she had come to understand how meaningful it could be to experience and share that kind of physical pleasure. But the same could said of this intimacy as well - the peace and security of being close to him, listening to him breathe, feeling the warmth of his body against hers. It was easy to fall asleep like this, safe in her husband's arms.
Her husband.
What an excellent phrase.
She didn't so much wake as slowly drift back to consciousness, senses beginning to prepare reports on the state of reality. And the first she received was of the location of Trip's left hand, resting on her hip, fingers slipped into her underwear between the fabric and her skin, thumb hooked on the waistband.
Interesting.
She opened her eyes, and found they lay facing one another, because his face (his beloved, eminently touchable face) was only a few centimeters from her own. And perhaps she stirred or made some small sound she wasn't aware of, because he opened his too. "Hey, beautiful," he murmured. He seemed to realize where his hand was and gave his fingers an experimental flex. "Huh. Dunno how I managed that."
"I have no objection."
"Hmmm. That's good." He let his hand drift, following the curve of her hip around to hold her ass, and she sighed softly at the sensation. There was only one logical response to it, which was to close that gap of centimeters, touch his cheek, and kiss the lips so close to her own.
It was a slow, meandering kiss, one with no real destination in mind, simply enjoying the mutual movement of lips and tongues, indulgent and luxuriating. They had nowhere to be, and no obligations but to each other, nothing to do but give and take.
By fractions, by degrees, it deepened; his hand slid down the back of her thigh, taking her panties with it. She made a little involuntary noise of approval, deep in her throat, and hooked her leg over his hip, pulling him closer. He was hard, and he groaned against her lips as she ground on him, trying to find purchase to have him in her. But the angle wasn't quite right, and at any rate, he was still wearing underwear, a problem that rated immediate action.
"Workin' on it," he muttered. The instinct to remain in contact fought with the necessity of a changed position. She used the leg she'd half-wrapped around him to roll them both. With her on her back, it was easier for him to shed his underwear, kicking it into the floor almost spitefully, as if its continued existence was a personal insult.
"Now where were we?" he asked, eyes traveling over her hungrily. In response, she pulled him over her, wrapping both legs around his hips. He chuckled a little breathlessly. "Right. Good call."
She inhaled deeply as he entered her, her eyes fluttering closed. He dropped to his forearms, his breath warm in her ear. "God, T'Pol..." he sighed. "Baby, you feel so damn good."
"Likewise," she whispered.
He smiled faintly, his breathing and his movement matched, the tempo of each slowly building, his eyes fixed on her face. She would never get tired of the way he looked at her - he'd always said he's gone out into the stars to see what amazing things were out there, yet the wonder in his eyes now said there was nothing more amazing than her. Logically speaking, that could not possibly be true, but she would never tell him he should not.
Her breathing was becoming more and more erratic; she could feel the delicious tension of an impending orgasm building within her. Soon it would reach its crescendo, and then release, like stepping off a cliff in zero gravity. She gripped his shoulders tightly, and knew that he knew. "I've got you," he whispered.
And he did - he was deep inside her, holding her close as her body bent against his. The crescendo, and the release. He let out a long, very deliberate breath, shuddering slightly as the movement of his hips increased, a seemingly automatic response. His head dropped, resting against hers, whispering her name as another shudder racked him.
"And I have you," she panted softly, taking his face in her hands and kissing him deeply as he came.
They parted slowly, the separation coming grudgingly. "Good morning," she breathed. He smiled.
"Mornin'," he said, still catching his breath. He gingerly rolled onto his side next to her. "Okay, you win...that was worth the wait."
"Better to be well rested," she said, feeling validated. He stuck the very tip of his tongue out at her.
"You don't hafta be smug about it," he retorted, then smiled again, stretching. "That was really good, though. That was...yeah."
"Your descriptive powers are overwhelming."
"Oh, that's what overwhelmed you earlier?"
She narrowed her eyes at him, but she would have to let him have that one. "Fair point," she said. He replied with a teasing smile, reaching out to pull her close to his chest again.
"Here's a hypothesis for you," he said. "Married sex may be more fun than the other kind."
She considered the proposition. "That will require significant testing to prove or disprove."
"Well, you know me...I'm a big fan of scientific rigor."
"Some sort of rigor, at any rate," she said, and he grinned a pleased, cheeky grin. There was something in the expression, something so beautifully Trip, that she couldn't help but stroke his face, fingertips drawn down to his jawline. "That could be a study that will require a protracted timeline of inquiry. Many years, most likely."
"Take your time," he said, his eyes warm. "I'm a very willin' subject."

profiteroles
It’s 5:00 in the morning on a Wednesday, and Will’s not sure why he just woke up. He rolls over to find Lucy, sitting up in bed, holding her head in her hands.
“Lucy?” Will asks. “What’s going on? Headache?”
“No,” Lucy says. “Worse.”
Will bolts upright.
“What’s worse?”
“I forgot to get something for the feast in Emma’s French class,” Lucy says. “She put my name on the list. I was supposed to bring something. She’s going to be the only kid whose mom fucked up. They’re going to look at her like she’s lazy. My daughter is not lazy! She’s nine years old! She can’t make things on her own because she’ll burn her little fingers. Oh, Will. What am I gonna do?”
Will leans over and wraps Lucy up in his arms. She’s frozen at first, but after a minute, she melts right into him. He smiles. That’s how it is. That’s how it’s always been.
“It’s just that putting together this English major reception has been killing me,” she says. “But how can I do that? How can I do that? I’m Lucy. I had a kid when I was seventeen. If anyone knows how to handle a job and a kid, it’s me. I never forgot anything for Elenore.”
“That isn’t even true,” Will says. “And you beat yourself up about it every time.”
Lucy sighs.
“It feels worse now,” she says. “I should just be better.”
“You’re wonderful,” Will says. “But you’re not alone. Emma doesn’t just have a mom. She has a dad, and her dad is more than willing to take over.”
Lucy smiles. She grabs Will’s face and kisses him, but she’s tired, so she only gets his chin. She groans with embarrassment, and Will laughs.
“That’s why I proposed to you,” she says.
“Uh-huh,” Will says. “Did you forget?”
“Little bit.”
“OK.”
Lucy curls up even closer to Will, and he doesn’t know how it’s possible that this still makes him happier than anything in the world. He’s not complaining. He’s just confused. All these men who talk about losing interest in their wives … what’s wrong with them? He’ll never know, and he doesn’t want to.
“What should I get for Emma’s class?” Will asks.
“She signed me up for profiteroles,” Lucy says.
“OK, so, cream puffs. Got it. I know where to go.”
And right here, Lucy bursts out laughing. She’s fully awake for the first time since her panic began. She falls down to her back and rolls around on the sheets, still laughing. Will can’t help himself. He doesn’t get the joke, but Lucy’s laugh is so wonderful, it makes him lose it, too.
“Did I do something wrong?” he asks.
“Oh, no,” Lucy says. “Quite the opposite.”
“Yeah?”
Lucy sits up and looks at Will again. The love in her eyes is enough to keep Will going throughout the day. He’ll buy a whole bakery. Not because Lucy asked him to. But because Lucy loving him makes him want to.
“You are maybe the only husband who immediately knows what profiteroles are,” Lucy says. “And I love you.”
Will grins. He slowly lies back down on his pillow. He doesn’t say a word back to Lucy, but he doesn’t have to. He never has to.
“Just give me another hour to sleep,” he says. “Then I’ll buy all the profiteroles in Manhattan.”

Merlin BBC UK TV Show - Opinion Piece Part 09 - The Little Mermaid v/s Merlin
Thank you all for to the wonderful response I received on my post here :
The same friend and I ended up discussing the show in even greater detail.
Whilst my friend was more receptive to the "progressive sub-text" within the show his major issue was what he called a fairy tale treatment of a gritty story.
I retorted that fairy tales have universal appeal and often contain in them morals and lessons which lend to a more complex narrative upon further inspection.
As our talks went on, I could not help but find narrative overlaps between the 2008 Merlin TV Series and Hans Christian Andersen's The Little Mermaid fairy tale published during 1830's.
So I felt that it could become a Tumblr post.
Tumblr media
PLEASE DONT CONFUSE THIS WITH THE DISNEY ANIMATED AND LIVE ACTION FILMS !!!!
Here is my attempt to outline the similarities between our protagonists and the themes.
Raised by single parents
Merlin was raised by Hunith whereas the Mermaid was raised by
the Sea King.
They both feel alienated
The Mermaid feels alone while living in the ocean forever trying to
connect with the world around her.
Merlin also feels like he didn’t belong in the village he lived in.
They both leave their childhood homes
Merlin leaves Ealdor and goes to Camelot whereas the Mermaid
leaves the underwater sea and goes to the Prince's kingdom
They end up saving the life of their soul-mate upon their initial interaction
Merlin saves Arthur's life in Season 1 Episode 1 whereas the
Mermaid saves the Prince from drowning when his ship catches
fire.
They have longer life span than their soul-mate
Merlin is an immortal whereas Arthur's death has been foretold.
The Mermaid is told by her grandmother that she could live for
300 years whereas humans live for a shorter time.
Their soul-mate is unaware of their true identity
Arthur is unaware of Merlin's magic till the very last episode
similarly the Prince is unaware of the Mermaid's identity.
They give up their identity for their soul-mate
Merlin despite being a powerful sorcerer becomes Arthur's servant
whereas the Mermaid gives up being a princess and becomes
human.
They prioritize their soul-mate ahead of themselves
Merlin convinces Arthur not to legalize magic as he thinks this
will save Arthur's life, even though his own circumstances would
change for the better.
The Mermaid does not kill the prince even though it would save her
own life in the end.
The story ends in death.
Arthur dies in Merlin's arms.
The Mermaid dies heartbroken with her body turning to foam.
Queer themes
I have already outlined magic being a methaphor in my post here:
The Little Mermaid's queer themes can be read in the article here:
Silence as a theme of repression
The Mermaid is literally silenced by the Sea Witch in order to fit into heterosexual human society.
Merlin chooses to remain silent despite seeing the injustice and persecution of queer magical creatures around him. If Merlin had expressed himself he would be arrested or even put to death.
Sea Witch and Morgana
The Sea Witch is an antagonist in the The Little Mermaid and Morgana is the chief antagonist in the Merlin series.
In popular mythology there was a Sea Witch named Morgana who was a main contributor in luring sailors to their deaths.
I thought this was a remarkable coincidence when researching this topic

♡ Episode 11 | Recoupling #3 | GENEVA ISLAND
♡ Autumn was in a flirty mood all day and had a little flirt with every guy except for Justin. She and Sean flirted the most as they are still an item. She tries really hard to move forward with him, but his tense mood gets in the way most of the time.
♡ Judi spent the day relaxing and chatting with the other Islanders as she enjoys the atmosphere of being around other party people. Her and Rowan consistently flirt.
♡ Jasmine woke up feeling conflicted again about the love triangle she is in. She immediately asked Justin about marriage, which he was not receptive too. This caused her to look more towards Blakes, who seemed to be in a better mood, and they were able to talk things through a bit more smoothly. He even accepted flirting from her and they had a cute little slow dance cuddle in front of everyone. In the end, she was more confused than ever, and pissed about it. Later, in the evening, she came clean to Blakes about her kiss with Justin, causing a major rift between them, worse than before. At the re-coupling, she chose Justin as she doesn’t feel that the damage that has been done with Blakes is solvable, and because the compatibility between Justin and herself is stronger than it ever was with Blakes.
♡ Rowan woke up very flirty and even flirted with Autumn for a quick second. During the evening, he flirted with Judi.
♡ Sean has been tense everyday since Sophie left the villa. He is not sure if the outcome will be worth the efforts of being on the show. He can’t seem to overcome his fear of failure and is always in a bad mood, even with Autumn trying her hardest. He flirted with Autumn and a bit with Judi throughout the evening.
♡ Blakes woke up flirty and was determined to try and fix things between Jasmine and him. The morning was successful as they talked about moving forward and even enjoyed each other’s company the way they did before all the drama started. In the evening, however, when Jasmine came clean to him about the kiss she shared with Justin, he became upset and couldn’t stand to be around either of them. Unfortunately, at the re-coupling Jasmine chose Justin over him, and she tried to amicably break up with him right afterwards. He refused to be amicable and left the villa furious at both Justin and Jasmine.
♡ Justin woke up and enjoyed the company of all the Islanders. He cooked lunch and everyone helped him. He was consistently around Jasmine, giving her space but also letting  her know that he was there for her whenever she was ready to talk. Before the recoupling, he chatted with Blakes and Jasmine about the situation and let them know that whatever happens next, he was grateful for the experience with both of them. At the re-coupling, Jasmine chose him.

Misa, I give you all the kisses.
Send me a Star or Camera for Director's Commentary meme
Commentary for Chapter 4 of The Maiden and the Drowning Boy!
Chapters 3 and 4 were originally one chapter! And then I was like 'wow, 12k is too much let me break them up'. (lo and behold, chapter 9 that posted yesterday did, in fact, hit 12k but I want to keep that a rarity). Also, this was one of the pre-written chapters I had done before I started posting the story in July!
Eagle-eyed readers may have noticed that the story was originally marked as a Helaemond side pairing and that was the intention! But while Aemond's ideas came across very clear, when I went in to write Helaena's pov for this scene, I ran into some trouble. She didn't think of Aemond in the same way that Aemond was thinking of her, she was focused on other things. It was absolutely the first major case of a character taking control of the wheel from me. I had been uncertain about the Helaemond plotline for about three/four months by the time I chopped these chapters back in around early june but sort of set it aside and as I started doing my second pass edits in August for these chapters, I really started to realize I had to listen to Helaena.
Does Helaena feel the same for Aemond as he does for her? It's such a complicated thing when it comes to Targaryens. You grow up in a family that has framed your sibling relationships as non-platonic. You grew up with the daring stories of Jaehaerys and Alysanne eloping against their mother's wishes, and the love story of Baelon and Alyssa. For Aemond, it definitely started from a place of wanting to save Helaena from having to marry Aegon (because that betrothal did happen at least for a short period of time). And then you have two kids who are starting to go through puberty, there aren't a lot of other options around, so it definitely got... confused, I think.
I'm a big Helaemond shipper. It's a ship I enjoy even though a lot of the fic is understandably angst-riddled but the more I went into that pairing within the Maiden-verse, I realized that this wasn't a pairing that served either of the characters in the growth journey I wanted.
Helaena loves Aemond, that much I knew, but this was the chapter that really gave me the first inclination that I had to really start looking at my plotline and see what needed to be done.
The reception to this chapter was also so completely and utterly surprising. I knew that I wanted to approach Helaena's show-canon neurodivergency because I think that was a good character choice, but I actively didn't want her to be 'manic prophecy girl' there to just be whimsy and passive. She's a person with feelings, with desires, wit her own hopes and dreams and this is Helaena before the years have broken her down. This is a Helaena who wasn't forced to marry Aegon and bear children at such a traumatically young age. She's just a girl, like anyone else, and it is genuinely so heartwarming and so rewarding to see how many people felt seen by her, and felt the respect I wanted to put into her for the portrayal. I really didn't try anything new. I really just picked a 'how would she deal with being upset?' path and went from there.
It was also really important for me to show the closeness between Helaena and Abby. These two grew up together, cradle to corsets so to speak, and yet even when they're like sisters, I also wanted to frame the inherent separation that's started between them as they've gotten older. As Abby's taken her role as the companion/mistress of keys to Helaena's small household, and how confusing that feels juggling propriety with the person you literally thought of as your sister in the early years of life. I hope it came across.
Lastly, it's where I first laid the seeds of how tied together Aegon and Abby have been.
While Aemond held her with both hands, Abrogail held her with one, Aegon gripping her other hand increasingly stronger with each passing year, claws and teeth and every muscle inside him straining for the soft words and the laughter. With every slap from their mother, every casually harsh comment from their grandfather, every moment that Father ignored them, or worse, called Aegon Baelon, Aegon pulled harder and harder… Helaena did not want to let go, even as her grip was slipping.
It was one of the first thoughts I had for this particular section. Abby is a piece of treasure growing up in the middle of a clutch of Dragons. They all want a piece of her. Aemond wants his friend who understands and he can be nerds with. Helaena wants her sister who protects her from the things she does not want to do. Aegon wants her and has wanted her since they were little, like a coveted toy. While I have to keep reminding myself that I cannot and don't have to jam pack everything into this fic, there are moments I really work on sliding in that I hope do stick with some of my readers and it's totally okay if it doesn't!
Thank you so much for this ask, Misa! I didn't realize how much I had to say about chapter four!!

Ryan Defense Squad
This is just gonna be a rant about how dirty the writers did Ryan and I feel like his audience reception really suffered for it. I feel obligated to mention that I already went into the quarry biased towards liking Ryan because I had seen the leaks of him being in a queer relationship and I already liked Justice Smith as an actor.
With that said one of the biggest issues I’ve noticed is how poorly his relationship with the Hackett’s especially Chris was fleshed out. This wouldn’t be a particularly huge issue if they didn’t make Ryan defend Chris CONSTANTLY when its super obvious to the viewer that Chris and the Hackett’s are in the wrong. The writers consistently give him this uphill battle without, in my opinion adequately establishing how much of a father figure Chris was to Ryan.
Two big aspects of Ryan’s personality are his love of the supernatural and his loyalty. But a key part of his growth as a character throughout the story (if you go for the good ending) gets overlooked and that’s him realizing that his loyalty in this situation is not only undeserved but putting himself and the other councilors in danger.
We know Ryan is super into the supernatural world and that its not just a casual hobby for him, Ryan feels like Kaitlyn is mocking him when she makes the “Hog of Hackett’s Quarry” joke, he tells his stories to the kids regularly enough that Chris gets word about it from multiple parents and never tries to correct or downplay his interest in it whenever Dylan chooses an “Interested” interaction in regards to Ryan’s emotional investment in the supernatural.
With that said it speaks to how deeply Ryan is connected to Chris that when shit starts going bump in the night, he’d rather blame everything on bears or ridiculous coincidences than place blame on Chris. Throughout most of the night these two parts of himself are in conflict with each other, but I feel like this layer of his character is lost on most people unless they go through a second time and hang onto every word analyzing it.
This had the effect of a lot of people either not trusting Ryan on a first playthrough and thinking he was in on the whole thing, or being super frustrated and confused with his actions. I know I was definitely in the latter group my first playthrough but I’ve seen multiple playthroughs where because Ryan’s character is so poorly expressed that once he starts up with his defense of Chris people naturally question his motives and I can’t blame them.
Frankly this would have been an easy fix, throw in a line for him to say about how “I’ve known Chris for x years and I’ve never seen him act like that” after Chris freaks about the van being busted. Or have Ryan say to Dylan “Thanks for being cool about the whole Hag of Hackett’s quarry thing back there, I appreciate it” after Dylan defends Ryan’s ghost stories in front of the rest of the group. Ryan’s story doesn’t need a major overhaul to fix this just a few insightful lines of dialogue to convey who he is as a person and his values.
This leads me to my other huge gripe about the writer’s portrayal of Ryan is how they utterly failed to convey his inner thoughts and feelings to the audience. But what makes this even more frustrating is they succeeded in doing this with the other introverted character Abi. Its important to have introverted characters in a story with a large interactive cast, but the challenge that comes with that is how do I showcase what this introverted character is thinking/feeling while still keeping their quiet, reserved nature.
With Abi they did this by wisely choosing who she spent most of her screen time paired with. When Abi is with Emma, Emma is an extrovert and encourages Abi to come out of her shell and open up, giving us the viewer a chance to get to know her. When Abi is with Nick, he’s actually more introverted than even she is so that leaves it up to Abi to lead most of their interactions. They found a clever way to have an introverted character that never suddenly stops being introverted for convenience’s sake and managed to create situations for us to see what she’s thinking/feeling.
Ryan did not get that treatment, most of his dialogue is with Dylan and Laura, similarly to Abi and Emma they paired and introvert and an extrovert but where Emma pushes Abi to be bold, Dylan is the type of Extrovert who just speaks to fill the silence while not always getting very much of a response from Ryan.
When Ryan is paired with Laura, they spend most of their time bickering/strategizing with the exception of the little nuggets of personal info Laura manages to pry out of him by directly asking Ryan questions.
Which leads me to the next choice the writers made that spawned a legion of sleepless fanfic writers into action “Maybe neither….” Why? Just why? It is literally so baffling that they’d choose to have Ryan end his opinion on whether he likes Dylan or Kaitlyn with “Maybe neither”. It’s another glaring reminder that more than any other character in this game I feel like I have absolutely no idea what I’m intended to think is going on in Ryan’s head. Does he really like Dylan, is he worried about Laura’s judgment, is he uncomfortable, unsure about the idea of liking Dylan, was he not trying to flirt at all, is the game genuinely trying to convince me Ryan and Laura have chemistry?
It’s a whirlwind of wtf and Ryan’s inner thoughts are so vague and poorly portrayed to me I feel like it’s hard to say with any certainty what he means by it. But once again in this regard where they failed Ryan’s character, they succeeded with another, and that’s Dylan.
Now I actually don’t mind that Ryan went off with Laura and split from Dylan, I think it made sense since they had the most personal investment in the Hackett’s and it was really fun how they both were going to the Hackett house for the same reason of ending the werewolf curse but with opposing intentions and experiences with the Hackett’s.
Because Ryan and Dylan split halfway through, they tried to give their relationship some type of closure with the almost mirror scene of Ryan and Dylan talking to Laura and Kaitlyn respectively. But where they let you directly choose how Dylan feels about the way they left things between them Ryan will always end his answer to Laura’s question with “Maybe neither” even if you choose every option pushing the two together.
One last nitpick I have to tack onto this little spiel is that I feel for the amount of screen time Ryan has he never really got like his big moment, and spent too much time playing second fiddle to someone. When Ryan was with Dylan it felt like Dylan was so extra that he’d dominate the scene even when Ryan was technically steering the conversation (Not that that’s any hate on Dylan, I love him and he has the best lines in the game).
When Ryan is paired up with Kaitlyn, they both possessed good leadership qualities but because Kaitlyn is so outspoken it felt as though she was in charge and Ryan was second in command.
And then finally with Laura she was clearly meant to be more badass and physically capable than Ryan since she’s all geared up, part werewolf and running around cutting down the Hackett’s left and right while Ryan spends the whole chapter running from Bobby with a knife in his lung.
The only moment that felt uniquely his was shooting Chris and it was so short in comparison. And then if he goes with Laura and Travis to hunt Silas, he’s kind of a third wheel. Maybe Eliza should have factored more substantially in the fight with Silas just so Ryan could have a cool interaction with the ghost he’s done so much research on.
I don’t know, anyway TLDR Ryan deserved so much more and I blame a good portion of the hate he gets on the writers who just fell asleep at the wheel when it came to writing him.

So, I just read a ficlet about the traditional Hallmark "villain" being dumped in the end and they're actually pretty rational. What I saw involved two "villains" meeting after their "girlfriends" have dumped them after being unfaithful and then starting to fall for each other.
What I really want is for CONSEQUENCES to occur from Designated Heroine's actions. So, here we go.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Sasha lives in Boston and she is stuck in what she deems to be a bland relationship with a guy who is working a lot and doesn't spend as much time with her as he ought to be. Things seem to look up when he proposes and she accepts, but Sasha is still feeling restless and decides to head back to her hometown for Christmas. Her now fiance, John, is unable to make it because of his schedule, and so she goes by herself, frustrated and alone.
She sees John as a boring workaholic, who doesn't give her a passing glance nowadays and doesn't even notice whenever she does her hair. What she DOESN'T recognize is that John HATES his job. He is working many hours because she is a shopaholic and now has dragged them both into debt with her spending habits. He even had to take a second part time job just to make ends meet.
The new scarf she bought for Christmas? That was NOT in their budget plan! The fashion designer clothing she bought in the spur of the moment? She used the credit card meant for emergencies only and now he has to scramble to put out that fire. The new hair style he "didn't notice"? He's been working so many hours on a big project, it was so late when he came back to their apartment, how was he supposed to notice when he was so focused on not collapsing onto the floor?!
And she treats HIM like the bad guy when he complains about her spending habits! Even called him a Scrooge under her breath when she thought he didn't hear her. He mentioned this to his friends and coworkers and family and wonders AITA for being concerned about money and not being kicked out of their nice apartment and onto the streets? And their credit score will be affected too, if she doesn't stop with using their credit cards so frivolously.
There are a few naysayers, but the majority of his audience had told him he's NTA and needs to talk to Sasha about his concerns. Not that she's listened and only seems to dig in her heels even further, no matter how patient John has been.
So, the trip to her hometown that he couldn't make? Fine, let her cool down for a few weeks. Let her catch up with her family. Maybe she's just been as stressed about bills as he has been and is trying to break out of her bad spending habits. They can both cool off and when he can meet up with her on Christmas, things will look up. Or so he hopes against hope.
The most he was expecting was just a short term peace before their problems start up again. After all, she did get a FIRST CLASS TICKET back for some reason - why did she need a plane ride home, the bus would have been cheaper and she could have looked at the scenery. But he refrains from texting her about it. He is going to give her space, he is not going to be nitpicking every little thing she does because if he can succeed with this project at work, it will mean a big promotion and pay raise.
As stated before, he hates his job. It's draining him emotionally. If he were in a better financial state, he would consider reaching out to a therapist, but Sasha would start nagging him about how "overdramatic" he's acting and to "get over it".
So, aside from the plane ticket, there are no further issues for the next two weeks. He texts her once in a while, just seeing how she's doing and also called her when he got out of work early one day. She never responds to his texts or his one phonecall. Okay, he chalks it up to bad wifi at Cape Cod, maybe she isn't able to get a reception there.
Project is done and he is even promoted! He calls Sasha again to inform her of this, but she doesn't seem to share his enthusiasm. John is confused. He is going to get paid more and one of his supervisors has noticed that he's been working a lot of hours and promised to work out a more reasonable schedule. He thought she'd be happy about that. And there's the Christmas bonus, too, it was a good chunk of change. She seems happy until he admits that he had to use it all for the bills and that's when she gets snappy with him and hangs up. She gives a flimsy excuse - "my mom's calling me" - and he knows it's about the money.
John thought she'd be relieved about their financial woes being lessened by a nice little windfall. 'Probably thinks I'm being a Scrooge', he thinks with a little more bitterness than he anticipated. The day comes when he can get to her hometown and because they are still not out of the woods with the debt - there is still a few bills they are still going to have to pay off - John decides to take a bus. It's long and cold, but he's fine with that. Snow won't start falling until the evening, right around the time he gets there. It will be a white Christmas.
Sasha is at the stop and seems to be completely surprised that he was on the bus altogether. John starts to get a headache already. She KNEW he was coming when the project was done, why is she acting like he was stalking her? Was she thinking he was going to decide to stay in Boston and spend Christmas by himself while she was with her family here?
Things remain tense as they head to a party her family was hosting. It looked like a nice house. Why didn't she ever bring it up with him in the past five years they were together? And then things just become awful John meets this new friend of Sasha's. Some weird guy named Jack who seemed to have aspirations to become the next Joker with all of the smiling he was doing. And acting so intimate with Sasha too, like they had known each other for years. And Sasha didn't seem to mind, either, when she would NEVER let John give her so much as a brief hug once in a while.
'Who the fuck is this creep?!' John thinks, dread filling him more by the minute. When he introduces himself to Sasha's family, none of them seem that enthusiastic about him. Did Sasha ever tell them about him at all? He had introduced her to his parents and brought her over for family gatherings and Thanksgiving this year too.
He needs some fresh air, it was so noisy and he needed to clear his head. Maybe something bad had happened? Maybe Jack was just an old friend. And gay too! Not that there was anything wrong with that. Because there was no way Sasha had been CHEATING on him and had suddenly fallen in love with someone she had known for two weeks at best, right? Right?!
But this somehow seems to send a different message to Sasha, as she saw him leaving the noisy party filled with complete strangers and assumed he was being bitter at Christmas.
Sasha catches him right as he is decompressing outside in the cold. She acts awkward with him, and evasive when he tries asking her about how she's been enjoying herself. And hoping that she will act like the supportive fiance and future wife he is hoping to spend the rest of his life with. The one thing she doesn't bring up at all is Jack. And all he did was ask her about him. Were they childhood friends?
She gets aggressive with him all of a sudden. Telling him to stop "ruining" her life and to "grow up", whatever the hell that was supposed to mean. John is feeling his blood boil. He had been in a bus for hours, cold and hungry. And he had just about had enough of her behavior and started to verbally push back at her and calling her out on HER selfish behavior. If he wasn't about to end the engagement right then and there because he realizes that she never loved him, then seeing Jack come out and physically assault him while Sasha stands there doing nothing certainly did.
She looks triumphant, begins to tell him that the engagement is over and that she loves Jack.
Only she didn't realize that the commotion from their yelling and Jack assaulting John had people coming out of the house and crowding them. John is absolutely humiliated that a crowd of strangers is seeing him bruised and sobbing uncontrollably. He was in a town with no friendly faces, his fiance had been cheating on him and had her two week lover attack him. He's expecting cheers from the crowd. What he wasn't expecting was for Sasha's mother to ask her in a chilly tone.
"You're engaged to this man?"
And he realizes as someone comes to his aid and starts checking on his bruises while someone else starts to call the police, Sasha's mother wasn't upset about him or his supposed failings. As it turned out, Sasha hadn't told her family that she was seeing anyone at all and that her sister had unwittingly introduced her to Jack because she thought they would get along.
And said sister was the one checking him over and looking white in the face, apologizing over and over again. That she had no idea, she wouldn't have done that if she had known about John in the first place.
Sasha acts defiant towards her mother, but finds herself without allies now. She thought she had been bonding with the townspeople and reconnecting with old friends and making peace with some quirky enemies, like some grouchy old man who as it turned out, was annoyed with her antics because he was Jewish and didn't celebrate Christmas. He had only started relaxing when he thought she was getting the message, but it turned out she thought he had suffered some tragedy on Christmas and that it was her duty to help him regain that "love" for the holiday.
Sasha's antics with the town were actually quite grating and the people only held their tongues for the sake of her family. But this last stunt was the last straw now that they realize that she had been hiding quite a few things from her. Her protests are ignored when the police arrive to arrest Jack and take statements and John doesn't even let the officer finish asking if he wants to press charges or not with a loud "YES!"
Sasha attempting to appeal to the police officers to let Jack go and let Christmas back into their hearts only leads to herself getting arrested for obstruction of justice when she tries to make it out that John had somehow been harassing her and stalking her. Only for her engagement ring matches the one John was still wearing and her phone showed their pictures together.
As she is forced into the police car, John throws his ring at her head and stalks off. Her family feels horrible about the whole situation and apologize profusely, the sister particularly so. They had no idea what Sasha had been up to for the past several years, nor were they pleased when they learn about her spending habits putting so much strain on John.
The sister is a big help with helping box Sasha's things from the apartment, and turns out to be a pleasant women, if a little shy. The family help with the bills, promising that Sasha was going to pay him back every cent and return the things she had so carelessly purchased this month. Only good thing to come from her shopaholic tendencies was that she always kept the receipts.
John and Sasha's sister - Anya - do become friends in spite of what happened. But considering the stress he had endured from Sasha and the therapy he was now free to undertake, he needed a long break from romance for a while.
He had to move out of the apartment and quit the part time job. His promotion might have paid more, but it wouldn't cover the cost now that Sasha wasn't living there anymore.
It took three years before Sasha finally paid him back for everything she purchased under their credit cards, especially with her family browbeating her into doing so. She and Jack did marry for a time in the end, but his charm had only been an act and they were unhappily married for about another year after the debt with John had been cleared before they filed for a divorce for irreconcilable differences.
As for John, he did find love again after much space and healing. And with another guy, too, with a similar tale with a court case that was still going on. But his lawyers were confident that they would win it, considering the amount of evidence proving the crazy ex girlfriend had wrecked his car, assaulted his person and even stole his stuff when he confronted her for cheating behind his back.
What was it about going to small hometowns for the holidays that brought out the worst in people?!
Hi! I still don't get what the chapter named Part Minus 1 means, It's because Twice? Or it's because The League still can't become heros cause they still need to be saved?
So I talked about it here, but I can expand a little.
Looking back, I think the chapter title back then was very much meant to be confusing and not make sense. It was obviously something we wouldn't get follow up on until now.
I think the "Minus 1" is less about a specific individual being that -1, and more about a set back in the narrative taking place.
Chapter 341--the reception to the chapter when it dropped was mostly positive. We got a moment with Touya being softer than usual toward someone else. He saves his vulnerabilities for when he's alone, or facing members of his family when he doesn't make any efforts to hide his feelings. But with Toga it was less about his vulnerability, and more about him acknowledging hers. Because he can relate to the feeling of running back to the home you were torn away from by circumstance, and seeing that you'll never, ever have a place there again.
I am very much not in agreement with any found family/tight knit/close bond takes on the League's dynamics, but still here in a way, this was positive development for Touya. It showed us more about his own pain--him choosing to go after Toga, because when you get the backstory in chapter 350, 9 chapters later, it puts this moment into a whole new perspective. He acknowledged her vulnerability because he is already fully aware of his own, so he chose to follow her. And we see that he collected Twice's blood and gave it to her, someone he knew would cherish it more than anyone else.
But really, looking at the events of chapter 341, we know nothing that happened was positive in terms of literal events. Toga was faced with reminders of all the loss she's endured--her family and Twice. Touya choosing to go after Toga that day was also him having to face his own pain, because he can relate.
Then we cut to Spinner and Shigaraki, and we knew back then, but have only confirmed it further now, that everything about that situation turned out to be a major set back. Spinner ignored his gut feeling and just did what AFO wanted him to do, because he couldn't let go of his attachment to Tomura's destructive tendencies. And I really don't need to go into a deep explanation of how that turned out. We already know.
Then looking at the League in general. The only LOV member who showed--and still even now--is the only one who seems to be bothered by AFO's takeover of their operation and Tomura becoming a meat puppet is Spinner (due to character flaws his concern wasn't very helpful). Toga and Touya? I mean they don't seem to really care. In fact I'd agree with the take that at this point, they basically abandoned their comrade. Yeah they're still on the same team, but there is no team work. Chapter 341 showed the LOV in shambles, which only further benefits AFO because he's made already vulnerable people even more vulnerable by isolating them.
So I think the chapter title is less about a character in particular--which is what I originally thought--and more about the actual events of the story.
Tomura's body just morphing and growing and evolving beyond his control is not good. Toga feeling hopeless because everything she's ever loved has been taken from her is not good. Touya continuing to obsess over his own death is not good. Spinner making decisions that lead to him eventually becoming a mindless pawn is not good. Nothing that happened in chapter 341 was good.
The three chapters that preceded 341 all had the same title, but progressed up the number line (1, 2, & 3). Then we get a set back, because in the chapter negative events took place. Negative events that would eventually lead to disastrous events for the heroes--hence the "Minus 1".
So now! With all the recent events--involving villains no less--we have started progressing forward in a positive direction. Hence us being back up to 3.
Rowan worldbuilding (dealer's choice) for WIP Wednesday
My previous worldbuilding post was stuffed chock full of space and body horror.
Tumblr media
Jack has a robot horse called Buttercup!
This piece of lore is silly, completely self-indulgent, and serves absolutely zero plot purpose. And I love it dearly.
And would you believe it, there is not one, but two sources of inspiration for Buttercup Howard.
One of the major inspirations for the character of Jack Howard is Handsome Jack from the Borderlands game series, who is a proud owner of a diamond horse by the name of Butt Stallion. (Okay, he says she’s a pony, but visually, she’s a binicorn, and she is glorious.)
Furthermore, in the world of Fallout, which is a key inspiration for the story’s setting, there exist commercially produced robot ponies. The product is called Giddyup Buttercup, ‘the ultimate in equestrian robotics’. (They may or may not also be part of an alien conspiracy, but that’s besides the point.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
With these two glorious creations in my arsenal, there was simply no way I would deny Mr. Jack Howard a full-size robot horse.
Some facts about Buttercup:
She has her own stable attached to Jack’s country house
She loves solving mechanical puzzles that Jack puts together for her in his tinkering workshop
Jack can’t ride her, or any other horse, but Rowan can, and she allows him
Jack’s old friend Nadia, who owns a ranch with actual biological horses out on the West coast, is very skeptical of Buttercup and confused by her very existence; which is why she doesn’t get to ride
After the initial nuclear apocalypse, Jack is stuck in the city for a while, and doesn’t get to go to his country house for almost a year. During that time, Buttercup roams the grounds and viciously attacks anyone who dares to try and scavenge the place, earning Jack’s old place in the country quite a reputation. When he finally makes it out there, she is very happy to see him. He gives her a good clean and tune-up, and then puts her into storage in power-saving mode. At that time during his post-apocalyptic adventures, he’s about to leave the Boston area with a group of new acquaintances, and even though a robot mount would be extremely useful on the long-distance trip, he worries it might give away his identity (reception for former billionaires is… mixed in the current state of the world).
He has a plan to, eventually, take Buttercup on a journey out West, to see what became of Nadia’s ranch and of his old employer and mentor Edward Castle. Sadly, Jack doesn’t get to do that: first, life gets in the way, and then, death. But Buttercup stays safe and sound in storage, and WILL be reunited with her two favorite people after they find each other again in the future.
Of Two Worlds (Book 2) Chapter One
Chapter One: Shibuya
Warning: Major Manga Spoilers! This entire story is manga spoilers! This is your warning!
            (Y/N), Megumi, Ino, Nanami, and Ijichi stood outside the curtain enveloping Shibuya. Everyone had been mobilized to investigate after non-sorcerers were trapped inside and only came to the edge to clamor for Gojo, even though they didn’t know him. And after Mechamaru was found to be the mole in the jujutsu sorcerers’ ranks (and subsequently killed by his curse companions), everyone was on edge and worried about this turn of events.
            “Any reception?” asked Nanami.
            “Blocked. All communication will have to be done outside the curtain or through us managers,” said Ijichi.
            “Sounds like quite the pain,” said Nanami.
            “Fushiguro-kun, (L/N)-kun.” Ino, a Grade 2 sorcerer, was trying to get their attention. “Curtains…the conditions that can be used to increase or decrease the barrier’s effectiveness are usually only things related to cursed energy. So, basically humans, cursed spirits, and cursed objects. Therefore, reception being blocked is a secondary effect of the curtain. But the curtain can’t actually block or allow reception.”
            (Y/N) frowned in confusion. “We know.”
            “Ino, stop trying to show off just because you’re older,” said Nanami.
            “Whaddya mean by that, Nanami-san?!” cried Ino.
            Nanami ignored him and looked at Ijichi. “Where is Gojo?”
            “He’s heading into Shibuya now. We are to wait to act,” said Ijichi.
            (Y/N) frowned. “What about the people?”
            Megumi glanced at her before looking down. “If the curses from the Exchange Event are here, then they’re in danger.”
            “Oh.”
l
            “There you are,” growled Jogo, spying Gojo floating far above them.
            “Heh, heh, heh. Look at you, all ready to go,” said Gojo, grinning as he landed on the tracks.
            Across from him, Jogo, Hanami, Miku, and Choso, another Death Painting, stood waiting.
            “No excuses this time if you lose again, okay?” teased Gojo.
            Miku snickered and looked at Jogo, who was already getting pissed off. Jogo narrowed his eye and said, “Don’t you worry about us…Just be sure to have your first-ever excuse ready.”
            Hanami lifted a hand, and roots broke out of the walls to trap everyone inside the station. The people gasped and stepped back nervously.
            “Don’t bother. If I run away, you’re just gonna kill everyone here, right?” remarked Gojo. “Well? I’m right, aren’t I?”
            “Close.” Miku smirked. “But not quite. You see—” She raised a hand, and dark clouds gathered on the ceiling “—we’re gonna kill them either way.”
            She threw her hand down, sending lightning into the crowds of people. Several fell, electrocuted to death instantly, and the rest scattered. While Gojo realized what was happening and Jogo began massacring the people, Miku lifted a hand blew a large cloud over the area, minimizing visibility.
            And with that, my job is done. Got to go greet our other guests. Can’t make them feel left out~! With a predatory smirk, she melted into the fog around her and disappeared. Kinda disappointed, but I guess I should be glad I don’t have to risk myself against him. The plan is a good one, but it requires a lot of risks.
l
A few days ago…
            “What?” hissed Jogo, the volcano on his head almost erupting. “What do you mean we won’t all be going against Gojo?”
            Miku herself was a bit surprised but not upset. After all, she was one of the ones who didn’t have to risk herself for long against Gojo. Still, it was strange. Jogo glared at Geto angrily, but Miku’s attention drifted to the redheaded woman. Geto might be the head of their little group, but she suspected that woman had planned quite a bit of this. Strange. Like Geto, she seems so human-like.
            “Before we seal Gojo, curses are going to be exorcised,” she said matter-of-factly. With her cold eyes and mask, her face betrayed no emotion. “There is no doubt about that. Splitting the strongest fighters ensures we have a reserve.”
            Geto nodded. “Miku will cast a fog to confuse the monkeys and then guard the hallways with Mahito and Nox.”
            At the name, all their eyes swiveled to the curse. He was standing a little ways off, simply observing the ongoings with sharp, silver eyes. Miku was quite curious about him since she was older than Mahito but young compared to Jogo or Hanami, and they seemed almost afraid of Nox. But he said nothing, like he already knew what Geto was speaking about. From the way he was respected, Miku wouldn’t be surprised if he did already know the plan. But Mahito, the youngest and most precocious, did speak up.
            “I thought he was supposed to be powerful. Wouldn’t it make more sense to send him to fight Gojo?” asked Mahito from where he lounged.
            “If you are going to live any longer than Shibuya, Mahito, you need to learn some strategy,” said Nox, a smile on his face. “We have a plan; we just need to execute it.”
            “The Prison Realm will trap him. But there are some conditions,” said Geto. “After opening it, we have to keep Gojo Satoru within a four-meter radius for one moment.”
            You could have heard a pin drop in the silence following his words.
            “Hey.” A dangerous, flaming aura surrounded Jogo. “I’m gonna burn you alive!”
            His volcano head began to erupt. Hanami took a careful step back so she wouldn’t be set on fire, and Miku prickled with protective lightning. Mahito grinned in sadistic pleasure at any sort of conflict, but Geto and Nox remained calm and composed. This merely inflamed Jogo’s wrath since no one else was admitting how ridiculous the idea of trying to keep Gojo Satoru still was. To him, this oversight that would probablypotentially get him and his associates killed was an outrage.
            “Surely you didn’t team up with us to assign such an impossible task, did you?!” he roared, almost dragon-like with the flames wrapping around him.
            Miku sighed and watched as he continued his rage. At some point he’ll just peter out. But if he doesn’t, I’ll dump water on him A good rainstorm ought to cool him down.
            “Against that?! Under those circumstances? Even a thousand measly human lives wouldn’t be enough to distract him!” shouted Jogo, nearly turning Dagon’s domain into a sauna.
            A nice spa before the fight wouldn’t be too bad, though Miku absently.
            “Relax, Jogo,” said Nox, yawning and leaning back. “You’ll overheat.” He seemed perfectly comfortable, the flames not touching his icy skin.
            Jogo grumbled, but his head stopped firing all over the place. “What type of trap are we be dragged into?”
            “No trap,” said Geto. “When I say one minute, it’s one minute worth of time inside Gojo’s brain.”
            “And how do you plan for that?” asked Hanami. “Gojo’s mind is quick and clever.”
            Geto glanced at the woman, who had already walked off to speak in a low voice to the monk, before looking back at the curses gathered in front of him. “We plan to introduce an old friend. A good reunion gives everyone a good start.”
            “I believe a good number of reunions are in order,” said Nox. His face was a calm sea, no emotion disturbing the surface. But his cursed energy surged to the surface, and it took quite a bit of self-restraint on his fellow curses’ parts to not take a step back from the freezing sensation it gave them.
            Miku cocked her head curiously. It’s like Geto, Nox, and those two humans know something more than us. She shrugged to herself. Ah, well, it’s not like any of them want Gojo to be free, so what harm could come?
l
            With a dangerous look in his ice-blue eyes, Gojo looked over his shoulder at Choso and Jogo. The smoking remains of Hanami lay scattered like seeds in the wind behind him. “Next,” he hissed.
            “Choso! I’ll kill you myself if you’re not even going to help!” shouted Jogo.
            “Fine.” Choso sent two arrows of solid blood arching through the air, but Gojo effortlessly blocked it with Infinity.
            A subway train rolled in beside them. “It’s here!” Jogo grinned maniacally. The doors slid open, and transfigured humans fell out, ripping the people trying to escape apart. Gojo’s eyes widened. He couldn’t understand why they were eliminating their hostages.
            “Jogo!” chirped Mahito, skipping out of the train. “Mmm! Fresh air, full of fear! Maybe we should let a few humans survive. On the weekends, we’ll let them loose in the forest and hunt them. Can I burn down the forest? Hanami would be upset~”
            “Hanami’s dead,” said Jogo.
            “For real…? Aw, man.” Mahito grinned. “Guess I got to pick up your slack.” He jumped and tried to punch Gojo, but again, Infinity stopped the attack. “Haha! I really can’t hit you!” On the other hand, Gojo wasted no time sending Mahito flying with several punches. Mahito smiled madly. “Let me share one thing I find so disgusting about humans. There’s so many of them.” Hanami’s roots fell away, and people began falling down into Shibuya station.
            “Blood Manipulation: Convergence,” said Choso calmly.
            “Idle Transfiguration: Soul Multiplicity!” shouted Mahito.
            “Supernova.”
            “Body Repel!”
            On one side, powerful blood lashed at Gojo; on the other, transfigured humans barreled towards him. Above, Jogo jumped down to attack. Gojo reacted quickly and blocked Jogo by tearing off one arm, forcing the curse to back off for a moment while non-sorcerers fled for their lives in a wild panic all around.
            Gojo’s eyes closed for a moment as he made a decision. It was a tough, rather cold-hearted one since more lives would be endangered, but it the was the best option for the scenario. “Domain Expansion: Unlimited Void.” For 0.2 seconds, his domain enveloped the area. All of the transfigured humans fell to pieces around him from being affected by the domain. As the curses started in surprises, he stood amongst the wreckage, blood staining his hands and face, eyes fiery with danger.
            Mahito threw out a hand and sent his remaining transfigured humans after the escaping people. Gojo, who could only be heartless to a certain extent, quickly moved in front to block with infinity. A poor woman screamed as a transfigured human grabbed at her, and Gojo sent it flying.
            “Oh, god, thank you, thank you!” she cried, her tears mixing with the fabric of the mask she wore.
            Gojo turned back to the fight. “Get out of here,” he said. “There’s no time for talking.”
            “Oh, no.” Her trembling voice turned confident. “I’m thanking you for coming over. You made this so much easier.” She tossed down a strange cube and smirked. “Prison Realm: Gate Open.”
            The cube flipped open and extended into a fleshy sack with a large eye. In its pupil, Gojo’s icy irises reflected back. He could almost see himself being pulled in by the eye, into its inescapable depths. For a single, tense moment, Shibuya was still. Jogo, Mahito, and Choso held their breath. The woman, perfectly at ease, watched the proceedings in satisfaction. The second ended as quickly as it came, and Gojo turned to move, every fiber of his being telling him to get away from the Prison Realm.
            “It would be rude to leave before our guest arrives,” said the woman.
            Narrowing his eyes, Gojo turned to face her. She must be a curse user with them. Time to thin their lines. He raised a hand to release a straight shot of Red when someone else, dressed in dark clothing, stepped out of the crowd.
            “Yo, Satoru.” Geto smiled and raised a hand in greeting. “It’s been a while.”
            Gojo’s eyes widened, and his hands fell to his sides. He took in the familiar figure out his friend, the long black hair, traditional clothing, confident gait, even the cursed energy was a perfect match. A perfect match for the man Gojo killed a year ago. But there Geto stood, with only some stitches on his forehead differentiating his past from present.
            But those details were quickly lost on Gojo as his mind race. A thousand memories flashed through his mind. Meeting each other, training together, going on missions together, playing round with Ieri, taking Riko to the beach, fighting side-by-side, losing him to darkness, fighting him, killing him. Over three years of memories played out in his mind.
            Even though it was just an instant, for Gojo Satoru, one minute had already passed.
STAR TREK: DISCOVERY | S1E6 "Lethe"
[I will react to each episode individually and in full, raw reception and then post as is unrevised here onto my tumblr for the full span of every and all NuTrek episodes and series that have been and will be released. If this falls under your field of interest - I welcome your company in joining me. Enjoy the ride.] -------
oh this city is so pretty vulcan? yah oh pretty ship design they do the environments and ships suich glorious justice in this show lmao shirt that says "disco" on it only trekkies would understand ;) man this will be so interesting to see burnham rise to captaincy also aw i love her smile dang the way the phasers dissolve its targtes aww these horizontal lens flares gets me in the AOS lorca might have been happier were he born a klingon. oh my god this hologram animation was fucking GORGEOUS oh my god i LOVE the detail in the costuems gorgeous i like the overall tone of DISCO - but i think it gets nearer perfected in SNW injection why wow suicide bomber. spock. where are you. so much sarek. ugh the cooking up to it is just ughh oh my god space is gorgeous ugh this intro pleaseeeee
its very simple feeling but also so effective its so classy. sylvia. so brave. these meld sequences are so god burnham is so beautiful is that amanda. i am so confused what in the world what the fuck is happening that was such a weird meld scene mmm i feel like it couldve been cut a little differently imo "humanity's potential" and then she eventually meets spock though right like… oh my god what the HELL HAPPENS???? oh my god i want to take my time with this series but also want to just binge all of it i kinddddd of dont like the cinematographic style in the show
it feels so fast? i feel like we dont get a lot of time to just lets things settle and sink? could just be me but i still feel the pacing is a little odd in this series so far you break your fortune cookies like that lorca? messy. handcracker lorca over here. i love how clear saru's voice is through the prosthetics ok stamets. ok. we get it. we know what you like.
lorca's butt. that is all. this conversation is kind of cute when burnham lorca and stamets are all talking about sending DISCO into a nebulae hahah ugh space travel in humanity. imagine. ugh they did the composite editing so well in this. one thing though i LOVE the colourgrading its so saturated sometimes even overblowing the colours - i aint mad though in this case after many, many, many. episodes of trek that are in that old washed-out film (minus the remasters) - this is absolutely visually DELECTABLE. i feel like DISCO could better use a little bit more steady flatter moments in pacing
the show just never stops feeling so… antsy?? a little too much shakey cam ohhh fascinating that facial accessory in the exact position of hte meld spots since this is all retconned to the prime trek universe, it just makes me wonder how fleshed out a modern TOS would be from all this. at least i mean a "modern TAKE" ofc. ugh the urge to draw more spock in sex;y ass everyday wears on vulcan…. cough cough ok ok sry. ooo this is so odd to see all this happen its a big move to try to retcon such a major character into sarek's life i wonder how burnham's story ends. i mean. i know s5 is in the making j- but honestly where is this all GOing… and how does it relate to future Captain Pike and future First Science Officer Spock… i like lorca's smile. his dead eyes ugh. is this the space sexy time - i dont think i need it like this rn bruh not sure if im into lorca lorca time i cant lie the feeling of this series is kind of off i wonder if its because of the actors' delivery?
or maybe even more specificially sonequa's delivery?? idk why it feels a litttttle off since the first episode she feels like a more fresh actor i meant to say this since the first episode but i just wanted to see HE SAID SPOCK AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA but yeah sonequa (burnham's actor) feels a bit on the fresher side as an actor. not meaning to insult no no. she just feels younger/not as matured yet as an actor theres just soemthing slightlyyy amiss in her acting im not sure ugh these colours interesting bit of lore ugh this calligraphy wow lorca nice one u keep that under ur pillow ok im very intersted to see lorca's lore though hes a strong actor so far as well curious ok i dont like the cut-to-cut style of the filiming in this show its too whiplash fast no time to really breathe but more so no time to really just take in and appreciate the scene, if that makes sense? its almost disorienting i wish it was steadier SNW definitely did not feel like this in its filming style it was steadier, as i think is necessary imo
that was so fast. burnham is grateful to serve under a captain like lorca? where did THAT come from? it feels so sudden?? and feels very un-burnham. ok guys, its odd cuz it almost feels like Seven-of-Nine had more… life than Burnham?? these scenes arent allowed to mature and soak- why?? why do they pace it like t his? it almost feels like im seeing the fact thers a thousand words in this book, but the pages are turning before i can digest its story? its like there are sectillions of water droplets moving together, but yet are somehow not allowed to flow as the river it should be. thats what this show feels like. its so odd. i think its less that there is an "oddness of delivery" from the axtors, but more so the cinematography is just so flighty and impatient. and some is bc of a not-too-terribly-fantastic-screenplay visuals are def the best this show has demonstrated so far to me in its attributes i almost read "United Klingon" as "United Kingdom" lmao Saru and his twiddly fingers ugh i love his face his fucking heels though his heel feet heel stilt feet.
mmm captain battle-happy lorca. ok - well, i think this show so far couldve been filmed a little better - or at least editing direction couldve been different and more lax. if even a tad. its almost frustrating sometimes how WHIPLASH it is. a great example is that lorca x cornwell scene like you can almost acctually SEE shots that are so unnecessarily cut. i dont really like it - the camera-cut editing style takes away from the experience imo. it also makes certain deliveries worse than they are from actors' performances cuz the pacing is so whack sometimes even visually and audially. its still only season 1. ill see.
butterfly kisses (part two to slipping through my fingers)
𝓲𝓶𝓪𝓰𝓲𝓷𝓮 - butterfly kisses (slipping through my fingers part two) 𝔀𝓪𝓻𝓷𝓲𝓷𝓰𝓼 - other than some tears, older brother x misha collins, wedding fluff, emotional wedding speech, emotional first dance, not much 𝓭𝓮𝓼𝓬𝓻𝓲𝓹𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷 - marianna and her husband noah are now married and at their reception hear all the speeches and then get the surprise of her life when their daddy-daughter first dance is called. 𝓪𝓾𝓽𝓱𝓸𝓻'𝓼 𝓷𝓸𝓽𝓮 - i mentioned in the first part that i wanted part two to follow up with another abba song so it'd make sense but, the only other song i could relatively think of was "my love, my life" but at the same token, it didn't make sense to use in a wedding. so, i decided to do westlife's version of "butterfly kisses" for this second part of this little two-parter
masterlist listen to "butterly kisses" right here! - - -
marianna smiled with tearful eyes, in her second dress of the evening, as she listened to her two brothers-in-law finish their speeches, squeezing her husband noah's hand to reassure him that she was okay even though he was just as emotional. giving damien and jackson, her two brothers-in-law hugs after their heart-warming speeches that praised their brother but also welcomed marianna into the family, a clinking of a wine glass from a seat away from marianna reverted everyone's attention away from the brothers.
breathing in deeply, marianna turned to see that misha, her brother, had stood up to say his speech since he was actually noah's best man, not damien and jackson, but had been stalling his speech for the majority of the entire reception because of how nervous he had suddenly become. already bracing for even more emotions misha's speech would be in comparison to damien and jackson's, she held a tight grip on her sangria glass. she watched as misha tried to compose himself before thinking about saying anything as noah kept his hand in marianna's right hand, comforting his wife, which they both knew they needed and was very helpful.
smiling at the brother and sister, noah relaxed as his brother-in-law cleared his throat before speaking into the microphone as everyone's attention was quickly on misha. and poor misha, who almost looked like a deer caught in headlights, quickly again composing himself before he spoke up
"--umm, hello everyone. for those of you who may not know me, i'm misha collins, i am one of the older brothers of our very gorgeous bride, marianna castellano *cheers*. however, something that may seem a little bit shocking about marianna and i is our slight age gap between the two of us *laughter*. for those of you who may not be aware of it, please, hold onto your pearls because i was twenty-six when marianna was born..." breathing in to compose himself, and allow him to hear the little whispers of shock, misha smiled and continued on
"...which, i know, may seem a little confusing considering she was the sixth child but, i remember the very day that our parents told us that they were just thinking of giving me and my siblings another brother or sister. strangely, well, maybe not strangely actually, i got excited straight away even though i really shouldn't have considering i was in my acting prime and like previously mentioned, i was an adult *giggles*. however, our sister elizabeth's first thought was "how in all of god's grace is mom and dad going to have a sixth child?" and whilst it was a genuine and honest question, it seemed as though mom had already known that one of us was going to ask that exact question so, that was when she announced that they were giving us our sixth sibling via surrogacy. then, because my speech will take weeks, fast-forwarding to when mom and dad said that because surrogacy is illegal in boston, they'd need to travel to texas to visit the donor parents and visit the baby as well as be there for it when it was the arrival date and so forth. but, this was when i immediately threw my hand in the air since i was already going to be travelling to texas in 2000 to start filming a show there, it would have been easier and cheaper if i just went instead of mom and dad and, shockingly, i seemed to have convinced them quite easily and they agreed. and, truthfully, i think it was that very day when i volunteered to be to the one to go to texas for the important appointments and the arrival of my youngest sibling that an already important and strong bond was formed between us and, that was before i even knew the baby would end up being marianna..." misha's chin wobbled as marianna placed her sangria glass on the table and got up from her seat, standing next to him and wrapped her arm around him for comfort - which she could tell he appreciated and that gave her equal comfort
"...so, ever since the day i found out that i was going to have a little sister at twenty-six, that i was the one able to name her, that i was the one to sign documentation that i was legally able to sign *giggles*, that i was the one to be with her for the first month of her life, i knew that this little girl was going to be my whole world even before my future children would be and that i had to do everything i could possibly do to make sure that nothing bad would happen to her. and, in all honesty, there were certain times where i wasn't able to keep my promise to marianna where i wasn't able to do everything possible to stop bad things from happening but, i've learnt that there is absolutely nothing that i can do to stop those things from happening. however nothing breaks my heart more than how much today has broken my heart *small scattered sobs*..." mish sniffled as he tried to catch his breath, marianna squeezing him close as she was able to do as she also braced herself, only knowing what marianna was about to say next - also knowing he'd make a joke out of it
"...having to watch my little sister get married without her dad to walk her down the aisle, having the knowledge that my little sister wasn't able to experience having her mom help her get ready in her wedding dress, knowing that she's never going to have that father/daughter first dance that i'm pretty sure every little girl dreams of having with their dad at their wedding *sobbing* just hurts so much more knowing that me and the other siblings were able to have those experiences. and no, before anyone worries, it isn't because our parents are dead, they're just in europe on a backpacking tour and i'm just crying because my little sister's married *giggles*. i stil wish our parents were here to see this but i just know that they haven't missed out totally because this entire day has been filmed. but, in saying that, having the blessing to walk my little sister down the aisle cause dad isn't here to do it and getting the blessing to see genevieve, danneel and ruth all help my little sister get ready instead of with her bridesmaids because mom wasn't able to reminds me and brings me back to strangely, when i first looked at those beautiful blue eyes and had them look back up at me for the first time. i remembered that i was always going to look after my little sister and i'd never intentionally let her be placed into a tough situation. i mean, it's not my fault that i couldn't stop what happened to us during childhood but especially marianna's. i'm sure we all wish we had superhuman powers and were able to prevent homelessness and divorce but, we can't do that and even though it hurts, it's okay because we're not superhuman. and, in all honesty, i have never ever seen someone as emotionally strong as my little sister marianna. however, this is when i do have to give some acknowledgement to her amazing husband, noah *cheers* because i do truly think that it was all due to this very man that my little sister is the happiest she's ever been..." misha breathed in as before continuing as marianna and noah watched intently
"...noah, i remember the first day i met you. almost immediately, i liked you because you were attentive, you were kind, you were caring, you actually cared to listen to what my sister was talking to you about. you were always engaging yourself but not in a show-offy way. you were always very humble when marianna complimented you on something but it was still obvious you were appreciative of also being noticed but also did the same thing when you complimented marianna. to be honest, there was nothing i could pick out that was negative or even the slightest bit iffy about you and neither could jared, jensen or rob or bob singer or gen and, truthfully, at the time, that was a first *laughter* because if i couldn't find a negative, it was usually those five that could but, mostly it was jensen *laughter*. however, this time, all of us were at a loss of what it was we could find negative about you and, i think that was when we all realised that maybe, for the first time in a long time, marianna had actually struck gold in the person who she wanted to spend the rest of her life with. and, it was that moment that i knew that you weren't just going to hang around for a couple of months and then leave, you were gonna stay for the long run. and, here we are, six years later and now, my little sister is officially marianna collins castellano and you, noah, are apart of my family and our family is apart of yours. my entire family, including our beautiful parents, richard and rebecca, absolutely adore you and welcome to our wonderful family, which also includes the supernatural family so, sorry about that but, you were basically apart of it the moment i saw you jamming out to carry on wayward son at a supernatural season premiere during you and marianna's first month together as a couple *laughter*..." misha giggled as it then turned slightly serious again as he smiled softly
"...annie, going back to you, i know i said this to you earlier today just before you asked me if i wanted to walk you down the aisle and give you away, i'm going to say it again because it's important..."
"...mom and dad are for sure kicking themselves that they're not here to see this and in europe because they'd for sure be enjoying the absolute fuck of this and they'd be screaming from the table tops how much they love you and noah together. i know for sure that dad would have said "this is a party, marianna" *giggles* and mom would have absolutely been smiling from ear to ear watching you and noah exchange your gorgeous wedding vows to one another. *shaky breath* i did originally intend to have my speech continue for a little longer but, because i'm turning into a first-class mess, i'm just going to end it here and say that i love you both, annie and noah, so much that my heart could very well burst. let's all raise our glasses to noah and marianna collins castellano!" misha finished his speech as everyone then stood up for the toast to the newly married couple before marianna wrapped her brother in for a hug, noah joining in moments later which of course caused some laughter
❘༻༺❘
there's two things i know for sure, she was sent here from heaven and she's daddy's little girl. as i drop to my knees by her bed at night, she talks to jesus, and i close my eyes. and i thank god for all the joy in my life, oh, but most of all, butterfly kisses after bedtime prayer, sticking little white flowers all up in her hair.  marianna's eyes filled with tears almost instantly as she realised that the first dance song with her husband had changed from the beatles' i want to hold your hand to westlife's butterfly kisses, the song that richard, her dad, had jokingly requested not thinking it would be picked. sulking that he and rebecca would be backpacking in europe, not able to dance with his daughter on her wedding day, richard forced his youngest daughter to choose a different song, hence why i want to hold your hand had been picked. however, when planning for the wedding after rebecca and richard left for their backpacking trip, unable to postpone or cancel it, misha, jensen, jared, alex, rob and noah's two brothers damien and jackson decided that marianna would get the chance to dance to butterfly kisses and that they'd all alternate dancing with her throughout all the song until giving her away back to her husband at the last chorus of the song.
misha was the first one that would be dancing with her and immediately, marianna broke down in tears almost identical to the way she did the twelve hours before the wedding when she was all freaked out and upset about not having their parents at the wedding to see it due to their backpacking trip.
swaying side to side as the siblings hugged, only slightly moving their feet, misha spoke up, "surprise, bug! did you really think we would let you get away with not having your first dance to the song you really wanted to dance to?" misha whispered as marianna tearfully giggled, resting her head on her brother's shoulder
"you bloody twat!" the brother and sister tearfully giggled as misha hugged his sister tighter as they continued to dance
"i know how badly dad wanted this song to be played at the wedding, even if he did joke about it and was defensive when we did push him about it. and i know how devastated you were when we had to change it to i want to hold your hand so, me and a few others decided to surprise you with this whole thing!" misha smiled shyly as marianna smiles, more appreciative than she ever had been of her older brother
"aw, mish, thank you! this is the sweetest thing you could have ever done for me on my wedding day!" marianna whispered back as she again smiled into misha's shoulder, again continuing to dance
that was until she felt a light tap and nudge, the nudge from misha and the tap from jackson, one of her two new brothers-in-law that she quickly realised the surprise that misha had done for her. giving her away to jackson, the brother and sister-in-law started to dance to the second verse of the song.
walk beside the pony, daddy, it's my first ride. i know the cake looks funny, daddy, but i sure tried. oh, with all that i've done wrong, i must have done something right, to deserve a hug every morning, and butterfly kisses at night.
marianna smiled as she and jackson danced to this next verse/pre-chorus. although the verse itself didn't exactly correlate to the relationship between the siblings-in-law, it was still a very sweet verse for them to dance to together. especially when it's remembered that the first time that marianna ever met the castellano's was when she was a lot younger and was a part of recreational pony riding, which is how she met the three older castellano brothers since it was their dad that was the owner of the pony club that taught a young marianna collins. so, technically speaking, having one of the castellano brothers dance with marianna during this verse did make some sense if the context was known. however, if you didn't know the context of how marianna met her future in-laws and future husband, it would just sound weird that this was the verse where she was dancing with her brother-in-law during her wedding. but, it seemed as if no one cared and was either bawling their eyes out at the sweet gesture for the girl to dance with all the men in her life in the placement of her absent dad or they were just not really in too much tune with the song -  which would also be fine too.
then, quickly, in a sweet spin, damien, the second eldest castellano brother caught marianna's hand and started dancing with her for the third verse as jackson walked off back to the rest of the men who were in line to dance with their sister/niece/wife what have you.
as damien danced with his sister-in-law, he spoke up after some silence, "...so, welcome to the family sis. i'm glad you and noah found each other, like, i'm genuinely being serious. i've never seen anyone make my brother as happy as you've continously made him. he genuinely loves you more than anyone in the world..." damien trailed off as he started to get emotional as marianna cooed as she hugged him tighter
"..awe, damien, thank you, darling! i feel the same way about him and he knows that!" marianna whispered back as damien nodded his head before giving a cheeky wink and handing the bride over to the second supernatural cast member, rob
sweet sixteen today, she's looking like her mother a little more every day. one part woman, the other part girl, to perfume and make-up, from ribbons and curls, trying her wings out in a great big world. but i remember butterfly kisses after bedtime prayer, sticking little white flowers all up in her hair.
smiling at the young collins, rob hugged her tightly as the two danced together as rob whispered into her ear as a tear silently escaped from the corner of her eye.
"i remember your sixteenth birthday as if it was yesterday, annie. you were so excited but no one was more excited than i think me and uncle jared*giggles*. misha was mortified, jensen, i think was completely shocked that you weren't a little kid anymore and, your parents were for sure shocked at how grown up you had suddenly become in what felt like a click of a finger..." rob whispered as marianna giggled tearfully as rob comforted her as he hugged her tightly
"...i remember too. at the time, i felt like i was on top of the world but honestly, i have no idea what business sixteen-year-old me had and who i thought i was in thinking that as a fair representation of me feeling on top of the world if today exists..." marianna smiled which made rob also smile as he took a good look at all of her features - including the little white flowers all up in her hair
jensen then came up behind her and rob to dance the next verse and instrumental of the song. that was because originally, alex was meant to come in to dance after rob but before jensen, however due to time constraints for the first dance, that couldn't happen so alex and marianna agreed to have a separate dance together after the first dance. hugging jensen, the two started to slow dance as the girl felt relaxed and content on her wedding day, which is all she ever wanted to feel on her special day.
you know how much i love you, daddy, but if you don't mind, i'm only going to kiss you on the cheek this time. oh, with all that i've done wrong, i must have done something right to deserve a hug every morning, and butterfly kisses at night
jensen hugged the girl tight as he led the two of them across the dance floor. even though jensen could usually hide his emotions well, today was not a day he could hold his emotions back very well. of course, in regards to a parent missing events, especially a father, jensen could relate to that heartbreak as it was mentioned during the speeches but, what he couldn't relate to was his dad not being present to see his wedding because of a backpacking trip around europe. since jensen's father, alan ackles, was and is still alive and well when jensen wed his lovely wife danneel back in 2010, he had no idea about the pain that was surging through marianna's stomach and the grief that she was experiencing not just for her father not being there but also her mother even though they were still alive but in a complete different country. all jensen wished for during today's ceremony was that marianna knew how proud, excited and happy her parents were about their youngest child getting married. because both richard and rebecca were so excited when their baby girl facetimed them with the news that she and noah were engaged and noah proposed to her earlier that day, than when their backpacking trip got closer, they realised it was happening during the week and date of the wedding. realising they'd completely miss their own daughter and son-law get married.
"...annie, you know that your dad loves you right?" jensen whispered, not caring that the guests could possibly hear the conversation as marianna smiled
"of course, i do, jay, why wouldn't i?" marianna chuckled softly as she didn't move her head from his shoulder as jensen smiled too
"i just...remember after they both left for their backpacking trip, you rang me up, asking if i could drive down? you told me that you didn't think that you knew just how much your parents really loved you and you needed some reassurance. worried that misha would freak out, you rang me as your last resort and we spent the whole day together telling each other stories about both of our dads and all the ways in which they display their love and affection to us. after crying for god knows how long, you finally piped back up again and thanked me for reminding you through my own relationship with my dad at how much your dad loves you...and how much he knew that you love him a lot as well, even though this stupid backpacking trip is the reason why we're crying and why people still think they are actually dead," jensen reassured the bride as she tearfully smiled at him after lifting her head up from his shoulder
"thank you, jay. that truly means a lot," marianna whispered as she then squealed out a giggle of shock after getting spun, only to be caught by jared, who she just seemed to collapse into as they danced together for the fourth verse
she'll change her name today, she'll make a promise and i'll give her away, standing in the bedroom just staring at her. she asked me what i'm thinking, and i said, i'm not sure, i just feel like i'm losing my baby girl.
at this point, marianna had more than just a small, subtle tear dribbling down her cheek and jared was basically bawling his eyes out as the two of them danced together. they both cried for many reasons, the main one being, they could both relate to not having their dads at their wedding due to reasons that weren't because they were dead. jared's dad, gerald, whilst obviously still alive like mentioned, was taken away out of state to work so he couldn't be present at his own son's wedding to his wife, genevieve padalecki. so, jared truly knew all too well the grief and devastation that marianna had been feeling the entire day. that, even though their parents are still alive but just aren't able to be at their weddings, it still hut and it was still something to be grieved. and then getting told by his own wife about the emotional breakdown marianna had the day before to misha about their parents not being here to attend her wedding due to their europe trip, broke his heart into millions of tiny little pieces. because, he could only remember being told that his own dad wasn't able to get time off work to be at his wedding and how shockingly heartbreaking that was for him at the time.
dancing together, the two hugged each other tightly as they softly sang the lyrics of the song before jared's time with marianna was up and, just like richard would have had to do, jared had to give her away to her husband to finish the first dance. and, truthfully, it broke his heart a lot more than he thought it would have considering whilst he had basically seen marianna grow up, seeing her like a little sister, he had no idea he'd be this emotional over it.
then she leaned over... and gave me butterfly kisses, with her mother there sticking little white flowers all up in her hair. "walk me down the aisle, daddy, it's just about time." "does my wedding dress look pretty, daddy?" "daddy, don't cry."
however, it seemed as if that lyric got everyone at the wedding emotional as marianna and noah danced together as for nearly the first time during the whole first dance, she smiled wide and started to loudly giggle. the giggles were mainly due to her husband's dancing and how it seriously differed from al the others but, she still loved it nevertheless
she was so appreciative of what her brother and the rest of the groomsmen had done to make sure she'd still get somewhat of a father/daughter dance and didn't feel left out and, it worked. she felt so loved and she genuinely could feel as though her parents were right there with her watching it all the way in europe. then, all of a sudden, the last verse of the song played when for the last time, noah gave his wife away to dance with her brother misha for the very last verse since misha was the closest thing to their father at the wedding.
oh, with all that i've done wrong, i must have done something right to deserve a hug every morning, and butterfly kisses, a hug every morning, and butterfly kisses at night "...mom and dad are so proud of you. they definitely did something right to deserve those hugs and butterfly kisses, bug!" misha whispered as the song finished, therefore meaning that so did the dance
"thank you mish, they too are proud of you. and, also, you did something right to deserve these hugs and butterfly kisses. again, thank you, thank you, thank you!" marianna whispered back as the siblings smiled at the applause as they sauntered off stage as the dj got the rest of the guests to the dance floor so she could find alex so they could have their dance together
this ending is so meh but, i didn't know where else to take it so, bleurgh i'm sad. but, it's still adorable and kind of sad that it took me so long to get the second part of this mini-series out so, i apologise. but, glad to have a somewhat lighthearted one after the depressing ones but, in saying that, the depressing ones will be coming back soon though. also, yes, i'm well aware the original has the parents dead because the real life celeb this was written for (shane filan from westlife's) parents are actually deceased however, i decided to change it and have misha's parents away in europe on a backpacking trip, why, i have no idea cause i guess i still wanted them alive so that's why that storyline is there!
ok ily bye xx
