as someone with an overwhelming friend group, learning the difference between not being included and having friends who will just talk into the abyss and if you can keep up, cool, was key lmao

James' hand hasn't left your thigh since you sat down at the table, a sweet encouragement that you relish in. It's a grounding touch, encouraging squeezes here and there when you manage to involve yourself in the conversation. Even when your food had been served, James' touch didn't falter as he stabbed rather uncoordinatedly at his pasta with his left hand.

His thumb moves in small circles against the inside, a distracting touch only in that his hand is dangerously close to disappearing under your skirt. You worry someone will see, get the wrong idea, and that will just send you spiralling for weeks, the awkwardness heavy in your chest. You're an over-thinker, you analyse everything, every movement, every tick of someones jaw, the light of their eyes, the tone of their voice. It's a blessing and a curse, really, your ability to instantly sense change within someone.

You can't help but notice the way that the conversation has carried on without you. Sirius and Remus are bickering, a fire in their eyes that you know very well means they're enjoying it despite their exasperated stances. Further down the table, Lily, Mary, Dorcas, and Marlene are gossiping about someone they went to school with, yelling excited agreements about the person in question, the injustices they must have committed against the girls. Even Peter is louder than normal, caught in a heated debate with James about the upcoming Six-Nations game.

There's not a conversation happening that you feel equipped to join, nor one you've been outright included in. James has assured you multiple times, too many times, in your opinion, that his friends are just loud. You know this - knew this when you agreed to dinner. You love them all. They've always been kind, never cruel. But in the lulling moments, where you realise just how much of an outsider you are in comparison to a group of people who've known each other for over ten years. They grew up together, learned valuable lessons together, have memories that were key, intrinsic moments in their lives. They have a history that you're not a part of.

Sometimes, that feels impossible to compete with. Even when James reminds you that his friends aren't not talking to you, they're just... talking. They're the kind of people to talk to fill a silence, and if you're listening, great. James often calls it 'talking into the abyss'. None of his friends ever actually require a response when talking, they're the kind of people to just keep going until interrupted. Sometimes, even when interrupted.

The table is a loud cacophony of everyone interrupting each other and it has your palms slick and pulse beating in your neck.

The waiter has long since abandoned trying to get you all to close out, even as the dessert plates have been cleared and all that's left are the half-empty, warmed glasses of various alcohols that remain on the table. James must feel you shift in your seat, because he squeezes your thigh in acknowledgement, his eyes flicking away from Peter for half a second. When they land on you, his head turns, conversation long forgotten. Peter doesn't seem fussed, just turns to try and split up whatever row Sirius and Remus are pretending to have.

"All good?" James asks, eyes soft.

His brows are hooked in the middle where they're furrowed, body shifting to face you easier. You nod, lips rubbing against each other. You're scared to talk, scared to be betrayed by your own voice. You've held your own most of the night, you don't want James to forcibly enter you into a conversation. It's not fair on him to have to deal with you, like this.

You should know better, though. James only frowns. It doesn't suit him. Your boyfriend is bright like the summer sun, always smiling, always cheerful. He's the colour between yellow and bright, pure light. Frowning doesn't suit him. It hurts your heart.

His head dips, close to your ear, voice soft as he asks, "You wanna head home?"

"No," You shake your head, frown matching his, "No, Jamie. I'm okay."

His lips press to your cheek, soft and warm, and then he smiles. The heavy feeling in your chest eases a little, just looking at him. James often thinks he has to be proactive to help you in difficult social situations. You've never had the guts to tell him all he has to do is smile real nice at you and just a smidge of that grey cloud budges.

James groans, loud and obnoxious and makes a show of stretching. You avoid looking pointedly at the way his top pulls up his waist at the movement, heat swirling in your cheeks from the mere idea of his skin being on show. Conversations halt for the impending goodbye, and you swear you see relief on Remus' face at not having to be the first to bear the bad news marking the end of the night. He gives you a warm smile that you return, another smidge of that anxiety lifting.

"You off?" Sirius asks over his pint glass.

James nods, "Shattered, yeah."

There's a mixture of goodbye's to both you and James as you sling your coats on. James makes half-hearted plans to see everyone at some point over the next week, gives both of your cuts for dinner to Sirius in cash, squeezes your hand in delight when Lily declares that she'll text you tomorrow to see about coffee. There's a look in her eyes that says she hopes this time you'll accept. She's asked multiple times, sometimes through James, sometimes texting you, herself. She never seems put out when you politely give her some excuse or other, never asks questions as to why the idea jars you so much. You're glad, because you wouldn't have an answer as to why.

The air is cool against your flushed skin when James holds the door and ushers you outside. The sky has turned a dark, midnight blue and you silently wonder how long you actually spent inside the little restaurant. The door swings closed and James is at your side, hand immediately in yours and spreading a calm warmth all over you.

"They really love you, you know?" James speaks thoughtfully.

You should've known your boyfriend would want you to talk about it. You've never had anyone who cares enough, before. But you're trying. Same as he is.

"I love them too. You just," You sigh, shoes scuffing along the pavement as you walk towards James' flat, "You know how I get after too much social interaction."

Your boyfriend hums in acknowledgement, thumb rubbing a soothing pattern across the back of your hand. "I know, lovie. I just wanted to remind you."

"I'm sorry we had to leave."

James halts walking, tugging you back until you're facing him. A passer by mutters something under their breath at the two of you standing in the middle of the street. James doesn't pay them any mind, but your pulse thunders for a fraction of a second at the risk of conflict. James squeezes your hand, "You don't have to apologise. I'm happy you came, and I was ready to leave, anyway."

"You didn't say anything until you noticed I wasn't talking to anyone, though." You counter.

James is silent for a moment, trying to garner the words. Then, "I love when you involve yourself in conversations with my friends. It makes me happy to see you all together. But I'll never force you to do more than you're willing to. We were in there for three hours, love. Any normal person would be exhausted of them, by then."

You huff a laugh, turning to pick up a walking pace again. James follows, allowing the silence to overcome you both as you think of a response. He's so patient, always so patient and sacrificial. You wonder if he'll ever tire of that. The thought scares you.

"Is it too much, for you?" You ask, then clarify, "To feel like you're always keeping an eye on me, saving me from social situations just because I can't function normally."

James' immediate answer is No.

Simple. Plain. It's all the answer you need, but he goes on, anyway.

"Everyone has their thing. Remus is a lot like you. Sirius brings him out of his shell, sure. It's why they're always bickering. But for years, Remus used to just... brood. Wouldn't talk, just observe. Maybe for different reasons, but it was the same thing. He's still here."

You smile. Remus has always been rather lovely to you, almost like he knew, somehow, that his friends can be overwhelming. That social settings can be overwhelming. "So it doesn't annoy you?"

You feel like a child asking for reassurance, but you know James will always give you it, no questions asked. And he means it, too.

"Never. You take part in as much as you want, I'll never be upset with you for saying you've had enough." He tells you, his flat appearing in the near distance.

"I think I'll go for coffee with Lils this week." You announce, feeling pleasantly calm with the admittance.

It doesn't send a spike of anxiety through you like it did when she first asked. Not when you know James won't be cross if you have to leave early, or call him from the bathroom for a get-out. If you become exhausted, if you don't want to be social anymore, it'll be okay. You're sure Lily will understand. You hope she will.

As much as an effort as James' friends have made with you, you feel it necessary to make some in return.

"She'll be over the moon, love." James says, pulling you closer to his side and pressing a kiss to the side of your head.

You smile at the affection, feeling the clouds lift as though James' personality singlehandedly batted them all away. The sun after a storm. You're grateful for it. For him.

okay, so The Hyperfixation Is Hyperfixating, clearly, and honestly im just gonna continue going with it bc THEM— *screams* ANYWAYS @frownyalfred uhhhhhh hope you enjoy this as well! without further ado, another idea inspired by the incomparable ✨borderline✨ that just would NOT leave me alone until i got it all down into actual real words:

at some point further in the timeline of borderline'verse, when they've finally got the whole situation mostly under control, the batfam (whenever they accompany bruce, or multiple kids go together by themselves so they're in batclan mode, to do jl/other crossover shit) sort of ends up just doing the whole Bat-Danger-Aura thing, like, Constantly; somewhat unintentionally, but also with not much effort really made to rein it in, bc they do think the reactions are hilarious lol. and like, the thing is, they were ALREADY doing it pre-bond, pretty much right from whenever dick, jason, or both made their first appearance w bruce outside of gotham and first established the existence of mini-bats for the outside world — i mean, that sense of leashed power, as well as the eerie synchronicity and ability to communicate in the tiniest of gestures, was really just a natural consequence of the crime-fighting codependency and the training bruce put them through, originally. (as you may be able to tell, i have an Extremely Normal Amount of Feelings about the concept of cryptid batfam <3). but WITH the bond?? i mean, the kids are all connected to each other, yes, but their primary connections are all to BRUCE, and once they've had time to adjust, and set + actually semi-consistently enforce some basic boundaries, they absolutely take pride in using that to it's fullest advantage (that they're capable of while not intentionally compromising anybody's autonomy, anyways).

and like… OP's already touched on this in earlier chapters briefly a few times, but i NEED a thorough exploration of the idea of bruce seeing this change in them, seeing them subconsciously incorporate even just these little subtle mannerisms, and feeling so fucking guilty about it and spiraling bc he's terrified that all of his self-destructive qualities [that he's painfully aware of in himself] will transfer over to the children, who somehow never seem to realize that how proud and grateful they make him when they demonstrate their DIFFERENCES from him in those regards. and he's just so scared that he'll somehow ruin the few parts of them he thinks he's miraculously managed to avoid 'tainting' with his mentorship/fatherhood until now… …and meanwhile the kids are about to start crying because dad no what the fuck,,, but also facepalming a little bit bc jesus CHRIST, B, did you never even stop to consider the fact that you're just… really fuckin smart and skilled and know how to do a frankly ungodly amount of Cool Shit that we all share an interest in, and we were excited to have the chance to copy more of that shit too?! just, even beyond the great mental image of the Danger Walk, what really got me about that scene was just... his two oldest boys, who are already so much like him, not hesitating for a SECOND to gleefully take the chance to match his behavior even MORE perfectly, and wanting to know where he learned something as (relatively, by their standards) simple as the Serious Business Walk, and wanting to share that memory because it's just fuckin cool, y'all! like, to be clear, i absolutely respect the fact that, at least by the time that they're entering adulthood/in the prime of their mental and physical youth, any of the batkids are pretty much on, or definitely rapidly approaching, the same level as bruce in general badassery — and they probably each have 1 or 2 specific skillsets in which they can and do surpass him. but at the same time, you CANNOT convince me that, at any given point in the established DC timeline, there exists a non-bruce batfam character who can really look at bruce (like his personality, his aforementioned ridiculous skillset, i mean everything about him) and not see at least ONE quality in him that they aspire to. maybe it's something they already have and just can't see in themselves, maybe it's more a projection of something one of their other siblings has and shares with bruce, maybe it's just some skill, some random combat move, that he doesn't need very often, and so when he does use it, it briefly reminds them that "holy shit, he's The Fucking Batman" — but there's always SOMETHING there, some reason that even when they're having trouble communicating or arguing or emotions are running high, they'll never truly lose that respect for him that compels these ridiculously independent, self-sufficient people to willingly follow him: to listen to him, to trust him, and to keep themselves ready to unite under his lead. because nobody can argue that they are a clan, whose purpose comes from being first united under the guidance and protection and love of the bat.

You know what's something I wished fanon/fanfic/etc explored? The idea of clones, basically traveling the galaxy because of the war not only having their own traditions, but also picking up stuff and being taught things by various people they encounter. Not even necessarily like a culture/tradition. A planet's local militia taught a trooper how to weave grass during a long night waiting for orders.

Of course he brought this to his friends and now the whole battalion makes things from grass or leaves or thread. It's calming, it's fun, they experiment with materials.

The clones who've developed their own culture (not Mandalorian) but also enjoying learning and participating. Let them be happy and want to explore things beyond their DNA donors world. (I also enjoy the idea of them getting to relax and join in on fun, normal activities).

And the idea of different units having different traditions while also sharing them when they're deployed together is fun.

The idea of mindfulness being picked up from Jedi general's and everyone having a unique spin, either copying meditation or meditating while cleaning equipment.

Also I want people to appreciate the clones as their own people.

Yeah, I hardly EVER see the clones depicted as this really interesting mish mash of cultures due to potentially picking up a bunch of shit from civilian populations they meet and then just passing it around their own battalion which could then make it out to the GAR as a whole.

Weaving baskets is a cute one, it could also be something as simple as picking up new spices every time they land somewhere and so their food is this wild fusion cuisine of spices and maybe fruits/dried meats/nuts from all over the galaxy because they just pick up stuff that goes to the kitchens and the clones doing the cooking in the kitchens use whatever they've got available to try to make new dishes. And they end up perhaps getting really good at figuring out how to combine these different ingredients that, on paper, seem like they absolutely should NOT go well together and yet somehow they make it work. And so clone cuisine becomes its own completely unique thing. You could even compare it to Jedi cuisine where they probably end up combining things a lot themselves, but the Jedi would theoretically often have had more access to resources and time to learn whole dishes than the clones do so it's more that the Jedi prepare different specific dishes from a lot of cultures as opposed to the more fusion-style cuisine the clones have come up with.

Or games, it'd be so cute to have the clones picking up all these different sort-of idle games from different civilian children they meet, like gffa versions of hopscotch or hackey sack, maybe card games that aren't sabacc or board games that aren't dejarik but are more specific to this one planet or culture. Maybe the clones start coming up with their OWN card games as they go because they start getting bored of the few that they know and start getting creative from there.

And of course things like different styles of visual art like painting and tattooing and hair styles that they might pick up on and incorporate into their own style that either becomes very popular among the clones on its own or ends up sort-of hybridized and become its own unique clone specific spin on the artform rather than a direct imitation. Writing would be really cool, too, that they pick up things like novels or journals from different cultures and some of the clones start writing creatively and become really prolific among the GAR (and maybe the Jedi too) for their stories. Similar to before, they might start off sort-of imitating styles they see from other cultures, specific kinds of poetry or tropes, but then branch out and put their own spin on it or start combining different things they've learned from various cultures.

Some clones might end up sticking closer to one specific culture they've connected or that just matches their personal taste really well, while others embrace the fusion more, and everything in-between.

And of course we can bring the Jedi into it more, too, and have the Jedi constantly working to introduce the clones to more things, maybe things THEY know and love from various cultures that they think the clones would find fun or interesting. And not just that person's "birth culture" like Ahsoka teaching people about Togruta culture, but things from OTHER CULTURES that they themselves have experimented with and liked. Maybe Ahsoka has a Mon Cal skincare routine she fucking swears by, or a Zabrak meat dish that's her absolute favorite hands down because of how tender they cook it, or her favorite book is actually Rodian because she particularly loves Rodian romance novels. And she introduces the clones to THESE things as well because why wouldn't she? The Jedi have a smorgasbord of options available to them and their culture encourages learning and connecting as much as possible, something I imagine they'd do their best to pass on to the clones in any way available to them.

And of course the Jedi, as some of the only people really out there with the clones and interacting with them regularly, get to be the first to BENEFIT from the hybridization that the clones utilize and get to see more about how these different cultures they've learned and appreciated for so long can be combined in such new and different ways to create something entirely unique and beautiful, so they get to enjoy these things all over again and it's AWESOME! New favorite noodle dish that combined fish from Glee Anselm and spices from Pantora and noodles from Chandrila, new favorite poem that has elements of Naboo and Ryloth in it, new knitted scarf that combined a knitting style from Lothal and a pattern from Shili.

And I've been going more for physical material things so far like food and stuff, but you can include things like slang they pick up from other cultures or maybe rituals of some kind they saw someone do that they asked about and got permission to participate in that they continue to practice afterwards because it's nice and calming.

The interesting part about the clones is that they don't have a "birth" culture to go back to. They were raised in a very sterile environment where everything they were exposed to was something very specific and aimed towards a certain goal. So they might have a favorite fighting move from the ones they were taught on Kamino or a favorite ship to fly of the ones they were taught to use for war, but it would be SO incredibly limited to what the Kaminoans wanted them to learn and not intended to become something the clones really connected to culturally. The Kaminoans themselves clearly HAVE a culture of sorts, they seem to share a style of fashion at least and probably an architectural style, but this isn't something that was passed on to the clones or that they would've been allowed to ever really participate in (beyond maintenance to the buildings, but they wouldn't have gotten a say in things like paint colors or additions to the building for cosmetic reasons, etc). And of course I don't think canon supports the idea that the clones really had a lot of connection to Mando culture and certainly nothing that supports the concept that they would consider it their "birth" culture. Jango barely seems to have passed any sort of Mando heritage on to BOBA, so it seems INCREDIBLY unlikely he'd have passed anything significant on to the clones he DIDN'T consider his son. And the Mando trainers are a legends thing these days, and were never canon anyway, so their exposure to Mando culture would be even more limited than their exposure to Kaminoan culture quite honestly.

All of which means the clones don't really have a firm basis of a birth culture from which to start on and then sort-of experiment out from. They're almost entirely open to whatever they discover or are introduced to in terms of culture. They're not Mando, they're not Kaminoan, they're their OWN THING and they can literally incorporate just about anything and everything into the culture they choose to build and that's SUCH a cool thing to look at and to explore and I don't know if I've really seen that much of it in fics. Especially via the Jedi who are their own massively multi-cultural society and can take the opportunity to really widen the clones' horizons in so many ways.

AOHUBCOEWHBVOU I love your Malleus design!!! Also, question. Is MH Malleus protective/territorial of this AU’s MC? If there even is one, or if there were one. I’m imagining an entire “fae kidnaps human from their world but human was miserable in their world and is happy to stay and is accurate to TWST lore that human is his first real friend cuz they’re not scared or somthing brainworm” wkehvbowehbvfowbvhbr!!!! There’s so much more I have in my head but can’t add in because I don’t know how to continue to articulate it. Also bcuz of the Howl’s Moving Castle it had me thinking and my brain went harbhejdbfvowhbv 😩😩😩

I'm a big fan of MC + Malleus dynamic in canon, and I'd like to keep these two on similar circumstances in this AU!

I'm getting two possible ideas here, one is if MC/Yuu were to be a monster in this AU as well, and another if they were just a human who somehow ended up in a monster school!

For the first possibility, for starters, I think Malleus in this AU wouldn't be as feared as he used to be in canon. Every monster got their own individualities, I imagine it wouldn't be uncommon for mysterious figures like Malleus to study in MH!NRC, so in the eyes of most students, he's just another quiet monster- perhaps he's shy, who knows? He does seem unapproachable, but on the other hand, we got plenty of folks who like to stay in the shadows as well! And maybe this change of how he's perceived can change how he interacts with others and with MC/Yuu?

If the MC was a monster too, then I think it would be cool for them to be the type of monster who could connect with him in a thematic sort of way, if we're talking in terms of keeping this classic Malleus + MC/Yuu dynamic. Maybe they're a ghost, and Malleus' stare couldn't turn them to stone because they're incorporeal! Maybe they're a gargoyle! Maybe they're like, an invisible monster who also can't be turned to stone because idk, they're built different and the stone stare bounces away from their body somehow lol

But if MC is a human like you said, maybe Malleus would be a bit intrigued by that. I don't think he ever got into much contact with non monsters. What is this? What do humans even do? If they can't walk through walls, fly, be a walking taser, breathe under water, then what the heck do they do? Stand there and be spooked? That is so whimsical, Malleus found out about the concept of being #just a little guy. It's true some monsters describe Malleus as having somewhat of an unapproachable aura, but can human!MC see that? Not really, since they'd probably feel disconnected to any and all NRC students to a degree anyway. So hey, they should hang out! And if Malleus is protective or territorial, that's likely from this dragon side of him.

But those are just some possibilities I could think of from the top of my head, since this AU is still slowly being built in my mind, there could be so many more ideas of how this could play out in the future!

Y'know, I enjoyed Phantom Liberty so so so so so much. And I really want to integrate it into Vince's story somehow, but like... I talked about it in a prev post, at the time when you have to get the identity theft cyberware installed, he would nope outta there so hard. Replacing your face for a one-off thing, for something you don't really believe in, is just so much. He gladly helps gather intel on the Cassels, he would even help kidnap them (under the assumption they get out alive, but oh well...), but taking on their identity, no matter how cool and badass and useful that is in theory, and could be for his regular merc work even... he wouldn't wanna get it done even then, just how he wouldn't get Mantis Blades or anything like that, no matter how useful.

So I've been raking my brains and like... In the same vein I've been talking with various lovely peeps about how Kurt would've deserved more of a presence, more missions etc etc and that he seemed to fall a bit short. How awesome it would've been to side with him etc etc....

AND NOW MAYBE... that is my way to headcanon my way around the faceplate but still incorporate the whole DLCs story how I want to into Vince's story. I haven't played siding with Reed yet, and I think siding with Songbird is going to be my go-to, cause yeah. And since everyone double-crosses everyone all the time here, why not have Vince be a part of that too. Cause I mean, he agreed to helping Songbird solely for the promise of a cure, for his own benefit, and since he can't seem to win by playing along with either side, why not play by his own rules and just for himself?

So... at the point when he would need to get the faceplate installed, he instead finds a way to get into contact with Hansen to warn him of the FIA's plans. Get close enough to him to gain his trust and get access to Songbird. I think Kurt could get behind/ appreciate his iniciative and taking that kind of risk, they surely could manage to strike a beneficial deal (on the surface). Then, when the FIA arrives (however they're gonna pull off being both twins with having just Alex at their disposal- but maybe Reed would step in, or another agent, that I'll have to decide still), Vince seizes a good opportunity to get So Mi out of there, explaining himself and why he did what he did, and hoping she in return will understand why he had to do what he had to do the same way she asked him to understand her.

The details are a bit fuzzy still, but yeah... I am very fond of the idea, and like that Vince could go and get Songbird outta there without betraying himself even more than he already did by agreeing to all of this in the first place. No hard feelings towards Kurt whatsoever, but I think if their roles were reversed Kurt wouldn't hesitate to do the same, the way I've experienced him in my one playthrough so far.

Obviously not a cool move to betray Kurt, cause he's cool XD but as I said, in the end, this is not about forging long-term relationships with anyone, this is about surviving to Vince predominantly (although it would be cool if I could find a way to make it so he doesn't need to betray Kurt at all, or in a way they can remain contacts afterwards xD cause if Vince becomes a Fixer in the Sun Ending, having Kurt on his good side sure as hell wouldn't hurt).

i have this silly little undeveloped au in my brain that's just like. tedependent but it's the sarah jane adventures. sort of. not literally in the doctor who universe necessarily but like. local intrepid reporter trent crimm investigating weird shit except the local neighborhood kids will not leave him alone.

i have so many thoughts about this but none of them are coherent enough for a proper fic i think:

see i've got two great ideas for ted/tedependent. on one hand, although in the context of SJA/nuwho i'm not so much one for sarah jane and the doctor as a Thing, ted playing the role of like. someone from trent's Mysterious Past who he won't talk about who set him on this path? someone who was kind and wonderful and changed his life but then--at least it feels like to him--abandoned him? someone who made him a better person--from doing whatever journalism he used to do to this--someone who he's still kinda in love with... but trent can no longer even really talk to......until he shows up again? that's some good shit, not gonna lie. although i'm jimmying that into a happy ending somehow, goddamn it.

No. 38 - SriLankan Airlines (Air Lanka)

Thank you to anon for requesting SriLankan Airlines! This was a lot more interesting of an airline to talk about than I expected.

To begin with, take a look at that logo. I love that. The stylized bird looks fantastic and the typeface really matches it well. This is good.

But I will talk more about the logo in a bit. Let's talk about the planes they fly.

A gay plane has...taken off?

And in the process reflect on planes of years past.

An old plane has also taken off.

SriLankan Airlines, which was known as Air Lanka from its establishment in 1979 until 1998, is the second flag carrier of Sri Lanka. It was launched after the demise of former flag carrier Air Ceylon as a fully government-owned company. Though it was briefly partially privatised, it is now re-nationalised. There are apparently plans to potentially re-privatise it, but we will see. They're very recently announced and tentative.

Based on the wording of anon's ask, I get the sense they want me to specifically talk about Air Lanka, and to be totally honest I think I would be doing the airline a huge disservice if I didn't.

I can't read Sinhalese or Tamil, which impacts my ability to really fully understand the apparently quite eventful history of the airline. There are a few op-eds in English written for Sri Lankan publications, but as I'm not the intended audience I would need to research a lot of context before I could really understand much of it. It's a shame, because I am now curious about this.

Thankfully images transcend language, so I can understand how its livery has developed over time. Well, 'developed' is sort of a strong word. They had one livery, and then they had another. They really don't like to switch up their liveries every ten years how many airlines do, and I actually really respect that. Don't get rid of something good if you don't need to.

But was it good?

I never really thought about the landing gear on the L-1011. It feels like it's located so far back. Is it similar to the Trident's sideways gear to leave space for its massive electronics bay that it used to autoland? Also, that's not that many wheels for a plane that big.

This livery looks sort of standard for something invented in 1979, but it has hidden depths. Even just in terms of its broader design I prefer it to a lot of 70s cheatline liveries. The way it loops down to envelop the tail is nice and the smaller line outlining the main block of color feels almost anachronistic in the sense that it's quite a modern choice. Somehow the two lines on the nose make it look distinctly beaklike, which I think is neat. The wordmark is...acceptable, though unfortunately it seems to only be in English. They primarily used TriStars, which is quite discerning of them. But what's that thing on the tail?

I like the modern logo but I prefer this one far and away. It's really pleasing to look at and looks graceful despite its sharpness. Just very nicely designed. I think, if a good modern designer was given this logo, they could design a truly fantastic livery incorporating it.

Actually, although it undeniably looks like a peacock, it's got a bit less immediately visible of a meaning. Aviation is actually a pretty big part of Sri Lankan folklore, and according to the airline itself that peacock is actually the Dandu Monara, a flying machine flown by the legendary king of Sri Lanka Ravana in the Sinhalese version of the Ramayana. This is incredibly cool. Apparently, flying machines in a broader sense are a common feature of Sri Lankan folklore, and they are generally described as being wooden peacocks. I'm genuinely quite sad that I can't find very much about this in English, except for this article by an American researcher, so if anyone knows of any books in English on the subject please let me know.

It's a very elegant execution of the concept. It's easy to buy this blocky, geometric peacock as a machine, without it losing the ability to be recognized as a bird.

The red, meanwhile, is taken from the Sri Lankan flag. I would honestly love to see a livery for this airline that's on a base of yellow with these gorgeous secondary blue-green, orange, and the absolutely stunning burgundy shade used on the largest square. I think it's very unfortunate that Air Lanka chose a redder shade, because I think the warm hues of the flag are both uncommon in combination and very, very harmonious with each other. Normally I would find four distinct colors a bit busy for a livery trying to be on the simpler side, but with the yellow as a base, the burgundy making up most of the design, and the other two colors used for accent something truly great could be created.

The red they chose, while a more conventional pick that I feel is a bit of a let-down relative to what they could have done, is still a very nice vivid red. The logo is well-positioned on the tailfin, the entire design looks clean, and especially for the time this was thoughtfully designed and well executed.

I'm giving Air Lanka (1979-1998) a C+.

That grade, though, is for the livery. If I were just talking about the logo by itself, this would be one of my favorites I've covered so far.

And then in 1998 something happened.

Remember Air Lanka? This is them now. Feel old yet?

Just kidding. They only owned 40% of Air Lanka. In 1998 Air Lanka was partially privatised and Emirates purchased a minority state. One of the first things they did was completely rebrand the airline.

Well, it's certainly more modern. It is...very very white, and it looks...very much like the Emirates livery. Different colors for the text, different literal logo, but otherwise much is the same. The placement of the text, of the logos on the engines, and of the design on the tail - a sort of swoop from the tip of the fin to the fuselage body.

I think I prefer the old logo. While the new one does incorporate the rest of the flag, which I like, it distinctly feels alive. It feels like a bird. Normally I would like that, but given the inspiration of a wooden flying machine it feels a bit harder to recognize. The original logo was just...really really fantastic.

That said, the way it looks like the peacock is climbing up the tail, and the way it flows onto the main body, is nice.

I'm not sure how I feel about the blue underbelly on some of their planes. I mean, I'm kind of a fan of just telling everyone on the ground to visit Sri Lanka, but the blue feels very strange. If it were up to me I would have just done something which occupied more of the plane for a primary design, so it didn't feel like the wings and tail have a wholly different color scheme from the wordmark and underbelly, but that's how it feels.

It also feels...distinctly Emirates-y in a way I don't like. I actually think Emirates's execution of this particular concept is uninspiring but acceptable, but I just don't like the amount of resemblance here. It isn't exactly Continental and Copa, but it's far from KLM and Air France either.

These planes are mostly all white. Whether or not that's jarring or not really depends on the angle, and I think more often than not it looks okay. Nothing here bothers me, but I feel disappointed. Maybe my visions for how fantastic a livery based on the Sri Lankan flag and the Dandu Monara emblem could be were a bit unrealistic, with how airlines are, but it's a shame to see traces of Emirates in an airline that hasn't even associated with Emirates for over a decade now (it was renationalised in 2008). This is not fantastic, but this is not bad. It is not Lufthansesque, and if I saw this in 1998 I think I would actually be slightly nicer to it. But it's also mostly white, doesn't do anything spectacular, and passes up so much unique potential which could have made it one of my favorites.

I'm giving SriLankan Airlines a C.

I did debate taking that down to a C-, but I ultimately don't even think I can say I dislike this. I just wish it was more. I hope, whatever its future is, somebody commits to making SriLankan Airlines the legendary flying machine it has always had the potential to be.

I'm only on the s2 segment of your vid, but I think it'd help you to know the Hagemans also wrote Trollhunters, which has one girl lead whos introduced as a love interest, and only gets to be a main character with weapons and powers way later on (compared to the main characters friend, who also gets to know about all the cool magic stuff in like the 1st episode).

Also most of her dialogue is her screaming the main character's name, I kid you not. I haven't watched in a long time but that's the most repeated thing she's said.

Another rlly fucked up thing they did was in the finale Netflix movie, they kill off a character who started off as a villain but she went through this redemption stuff... and then NEVER acknowledge that she's dead (and ofc the movie ended like Skybound, but instead it's the entire franchise reset, but a lil bit different.)

I could also ramble about how the main character's mom was kinda just there and I don't remember anything she did either aside from... fall in love with one of the enemies (who was disguised as a teacher and later on became principal) of the main character.

Due to all this, I think it IS safe to say at LEAST the Hagemans had SOMETHING sexist going on...

So I have heard. I still wouldn't feel 100% comfortable labeling the Hagemans as sexist. I think they're probably extremely ignorant about female rep. Especially for a show that pushes the feminism angle as hard as ninjago, I feel like they would probably like to be better.

I've got some conclusive thoughts on my video I'll probably put here at some point, but I think that's maybe something I should have hit on more. Ninjago is a great example of why behind the scenes rep matters. Even when you try and incorporate feminist ideals into your work, it's still really easy to make something that's sexist, especially if you yourself are not a woman. Because it is at the core of a lot of our storytelling as a culture. It's normalized everyday in things as innocuous as kids shows. Wanting to be better isn't enough. You've gotta take drastic action if you want to make something actively positive.

It can't be that specific people or shows are problematic and if we label them as such it will somehow fix things. It's everywhere. Assigning blame gets us nowhere. We just need to do better moving forward.

Hey :) I was wondering if you could say what personality a child of Persephone would have if she had any? And possible powers? It’s totally ok if you don’t wanna Answer 🩷🩷🩷

Personality tends to be a lot more open-ended so I'll start with powers first: (Also gonna put this under a read-more cause these tend to get lengthy)

Pretty much almost anything a Hades or Demeter kid could do, a Persephone kid would probably able to do. Which means they are absolutely OP as hell (no pun intended). Control over the growth and death of plants, general decay, influence over death, total control over the undead and plants, etc etc. And definitely geokinesis, as an overlap of Hades kid and theoretically Demeter kid powers, and there is at least one myth where Persephone is accredited as creating humans from clay. A Persephone kid probably wouldn't have as much specific control over precious gemstones/minerals or wealth though. Just agricultural wealth and maybe like, soil nutrition.

I imagine they'd obviously have more of a powers focus on spring-related things, so chlorokinesis (with a specialty in pomegranates, wheat, asphodel, spring plants, plants of the Underworld, and actually possibly also plants of the vine) and probably temperature control (which is already randomly a Hades kid power - though for Hades kids it seems to be only lowering temperatures. Persephone kids would most likely be able to warm things as well).

Their powers might fluctuate in strength with the seasons or the phases of the moon, or even have different powers in the day versus night, and they might get a boost of strength when in the Underworld or underground. You could potentially do some cool stuff with a dynamic of them having different powers depending on time of day or them being above/underground.

Similarly to what is implied with Hades kids, Persephone kids would also probably be partially resistant to the Rivers of the Underworld, be able to remember their lives as a ghost, and safely eat foods of the Underworld without consequence. Also, like all chthonic demigods and beings of the Underworld, they'd be capable of learning shadow-travel. Particularly powerful Demeter kids are actually also able to travel using plants, so a Persephone kid could potentially have two means of teleportation.

Persephone also has quite a few associations with serpents, so the ability to talk to snakes would be interesting. She also has a couple of myths implying her having particular abilities to invoke madness or forgetfulness. Persephone is also often attributed as presiding over a great deal of law and legality in the Underworld, so maybe powers similar to Nico's ability to judge souls or control over the dead would fit there.

Persephone is also sometimes depicted as carrying torches, so you could make the argument for some minor pyrokinesis. Also, Persephone (and more commonly her Roman "equivalents" - in particular Libera) are associated with wine (and sometimes just plainly Dionysus is considered Persephone's son), so you could argue for a child of Persephone having wine-related powers as well. That's why Persephone in Hadestown has such a prevalent wine/speakeasy theme :D

As for personality - obviously godly parent doesn't wholly play into a demigod's personality, but it can definitely shine through in certain themes. It's also usually a pun or related to their divine ancestors' aspects somehow. It's a bit harder to tell what the theme is for Hades/Pluto kids, but for Demeter kids the theme seems to be that they're very "rooted" - whatever that means in their particular case. Usually it's either they're stubborn and it's difficult to get them to change their minds or they're very sensible and value reason. I imagine a potential theme for Persephone kids might be similar - them being very "down to earth" or similarly "rooted."

Some other potential personality traits/theme options you could incorporate:

They heavily value fairness and reason, and/or rules and order are of extremely importance to them. They may have a strict personal code that they encourage others to follow, though may rarely make exceptions if moved to with enough convincing.

They acknowledge the macabre and less "pretty" sides of nature. A very "decay exists as an extant form of life" kind of person. Will absolutely rant about the importance of composting and how cool worms and isopods and stuff are. Probably into vulture culture and maybe goth. Or pastel goth.

Either gets MAJOR seasonal depression or gets some kind of winter power-up and will go full Elsa Of Death for like three months.

Dog person. Also a hellhound person. But usually dog person. And/or probably thinks "weird" pets are cool (like snakes or isopods) and has kept many.

Y'know Ruby from Ruby Gloom, or Creepie from Growing Up Creepie? That genre of kid. Like, personality-wise is not necessarily stereotypical goth and actually even pretty friendly and positive, but outwardly look super stereotypical goth or seem very monotone and dreary. It's just entirely aesthetics or coincidence.

Inversely, seem super bubbly and sunshiny and stuff but then will proceed to say the most horrifying Wednesday Addams-esque sentence you've ever heard with completely sincerity.

Literally just Persephone from Hadestown.

Hopeless romantic. Talks a lot about wanting to get literally swept off their feet.

Or, cryptid enthusiast and/or monsterfucker. The type who takes one look at Mothman and says "HOT" and has Lots Of Opinions about werewolves. Their favorite movie is Shape Of Water. Was almost definitely in Twilight fandom.

If you want to lean more into "Younger" Persephone ("Kore"), again very sweet, not necessarily innocent or naive but definitely on the bubblier side. Or maybe they have a very overbearing mortal parent and they're in that teenage rebellion phase. Either a romantic (pining, wanting to get literally swept off their feet, etc) or aromantic, since in some versions of her myths Persephone used to hang out with Athena and/or Artemis a bit, particularly if the myth is leaning into her maiden themes.

And if you want to go more the opposite direction of like "Despoina" Persephone - just full mysterious, ominous, probably monotone and cold and spooky. Very serious and maybe even pretty harsh. Think Nico in the Bryce Lawrence scene. "The Underworld had no mercy." That type of stuff. But also combo it with a like "if you defy me I will halt your life, one way or another."

One of the themes I like to attribute to Hades kids is that they're very driven by their relationships with others or steered by their hearts and bonds. That kind of "If you hurt my loved ones I will rain fury and Hades upon you and drag you to the Fields of Punishment myself. I will rip your soul from your bones and I will make it hurt." But with their loved ones they're just absolute sweethearts. Total cuddlebugs and the works. I feel like a Persephone kid would be similar. They like you? They will move heaven and earth for you. Someone fucks with their loved one(s)? Rip to them because they are about to be ripped to shreds.

And of course, these are just brainstorming of random little traits, so they can absolutely be combo'd with each other in interesting ways.

Al Haitham ★ Law Major + Day in My Life

As much as I want to assign him to being a literature major, I believe he would choose law over it because he believes in practicality and plans WAY ahead into the future. It's not that he was forced into it, he chose it himself to survive in society and he's somewhat fine with that.

He's passionate about his course to a certain/decent degree but I image it's not even measurable to his interest in books & analyzing literature.

Naturally excels in his class and is commended for majority of his thesis papers and projects.

Adding to the last bullet: Whenever the professor assigns those scenario based requirements, the teacher will always get shocked from reading his works because he finds the most unexpected ways (and uses the most unexpected constitutional statements) to answer the question and somehow they always turn up reasonable.

In terms of content creating, he doesn't upload on a schedule but gets irked when the date between today and his last upload is a little too far so he uploads one when he feels today is gonna be a productive one.

Doesn't talk a lot in videos and just shows himself going about his business (mostly studying in the silence of the library or in the bustling environment of the nearest cafe, he still manages to concentrate either way)

When he reads new books with really good plots, he somehow incorporates them into short videos along with his usual routine and talks about what he thinks of it so far (which prompted a few not so pleasant comments on some of his videos because of his unbiased opinion)

Absolutely despises bullshit and problematic authors and problematic plot points and he makes no effort to hide that.

He likes silence. he finds the silence of his room with only the sound of his mouse and keyboard clicking and clacking as he edits his videos. he finds both the lack of sound and the activity very theraputic.

Posts study with me videos — believes in the power of the body doubling study method and it's a win-win for both him and his followers.

If it's not obvious enough, his blueprints and structure plans are immaculate. Whatever the prompt is, he would ALWAYS find a way to make it fit into both the theme + his distinct architectural style or draw it even better. This man is so full of ideas and genuinely loves his major.

Affinity to classical and dainty architecture styles.

Enjoys doing interior designing as well — he tries to include them in his initial exterior designs if he has the time but majority of the time, he doesn't.

He's a self-care babe. Already has an estsblished skincare, haircare, nailcare, and even makeup routine by the time he starts content creating.

Trust me, if his course didn't entail straining his hands a lot from sketching and nails getting accidentally cracked (to his dismay), he would've painted them a LONG time ago. Instead, he paints his friends' nails for fun.

Is the type to upload anytime without a schedule like he genuinely enjoys making videos and such. Even if those updates last for about 30 seconds or a minute, he uploads them.

His videos are motivation to get your life togjether just because his looks like it.

Cyno

I decided to write these two as a duo because I headcanon them as roommates as well in a modern au.

Cyno despite his kind of intimidating course takes it very well and has always been a fan of solving stuff related to criminology. In serious moments, he's able to give his two cents on social topics.

The fastest in his class to answer and solve scenario-based questions.

He's a fucking pain in the ass (said in a loving tone) to watch action/thriller movies with because on top of the puns and jokes he makes, he ends up spoiling the plot because he's already deduced what's going to happen.

Tighnari

Tighnari is a tired medical student, taking up a pre-med course in either biology or medical devices.

He's the type to have the messy-neat room, papers neatly but at the same messily sprawled on areas in his room but it adds to his personality so it's alright.

The one med student who makes his notes as neat as possible because he believes that it's better to understand during his first year and the one who relies on a distant memory to decode what he wrote in his notebook that looked like it went through 7 failed situationships, 3 divorces, and lost the custody of 3 children in the later phases of his academic career.

Despite that, he remembers the names and uses of medical treatments and supplements at the top of his head.

Tighnari likes to be precise in practice operations during the later years in med school after pre-med.

Cyno introduced the idea of content creating to his roommate.

Tighnari agreed because he's drowning in student debt.

They would mostly do vlogs when they go out with friends or play board games (Tighnari cheats his way to the top whilst Cyno is left to wonder how he, the master at card games and alike, is losing to someone who just learned the mechanics 5 minutes ago).

Their viewers enjoy that bit very much.

When the weekend pulls closer, they like to plan the food they want to eat at home for a video or the restaurant/food fair hopping they'll be doing on a random Friday. It's a routine they do to unwind from the stress of academics.

They also gossip together while filming and eating.

The type of content they would post would be like the videos Stephanie Soo posts.

Scaramouche/Wanderer ★ Performing Arts + Gaming & Covers

He's so K-pop idol coded, did we as a society forget one of his hobbies was dancing in canon

He has a background in contemporary dancing/ballet and hip-hop dancing.

His voice is angelic and his professor really likes his vocal color (probably would have TXT's Soobin / SVT's Minghao's tone).

Scara ensures that dance moves are always clean when he performs and makes sure that there isn't any idle part of his body when he dances. His right hand is up? His left arm has to be placed somewhere at the same time. He hates it when he looks awkward on stage.

A really wide vocal range and can comfortably shift vocal tiers. He only strains his voice when the following note is unbelievably high for his pitch.

Shines the most in slow and r&b type performances, and is extremely flexible physically and in terms of genres.

When he posts content, Scaramouche takes interest in horror games as well as fixed-world (I'm not sure about the word) RPG games (ones like Persona 5, Honkai Stsr Rail). He screams (much more than he likes to admit).

He posts dance covers and song covers as well and gets a lot of praise for it online, urging him to become an idol (little do they know that he's studying to do just that).

Books really nice dance studios for covers and goes all-out for outfits.

Examples of his videos would be what Tuonto/Jake and Antony Chen would post.

I have an urge to talk in Turkish here but I gotta keep it to myself now haha. Your page gives me a sense of comfort with the fact that you're Turkish.

What I was trying to say, that if you feel like no one's is interested in our girl Vera etc or the content/posts you want to make for her here apart from the fic writing, don't think like that because it is your page and your followers follows you for a reason.

But most importantly, what I was trying to say, that Vera gives me so much comfort as a Turkish woman myself like her ( my hair is also wavy like her how her hair gets after rain haha ). I love your Vera content. I just wanted to say that. She is also giving me inspiration for my own oc making. Back in the time I was so hesitant with the thought of making Turkish ocs, but with her and you of course, I started to beat that voice.

i know the as bayrakları as as as 🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷 feeling like the last thing I expected to find here was another Turkish RE creator like. It's such a bizarre kinship and comfort, I know how you feel! I'm happy I was able to give it back.

Our girl Vera has me GRINNING, but not to change the subject too much, I know,,, it's a feeling that comes and goes. I used to barely get any interaction regarding her prior to the release of RE4R and when im deep into the hyperfixation i don't care much for feedback, I just create. Like. I guess multiple chapters beyond the 10K threshold are proof of that, looking back i had to be insane to be in it that deep. i remember being like "OMG 180 HITS BETWEEN CHAPTERS THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!" on ao3! 😭 the lack of interest gets to a writer, eventually, i guess, you just want the readers to show they're enjoying to work or not in some way. But the reminder that (some of, at least) my followers follow me for Vera is extremely consoling, thank you so much!

I'm so happy that you like Vera! It's very humbling to hear she as a Turkish woman is resonating with you, I never thought about having any Turkish readers at all when I was working on her... I always thought if I had, would it be cringy or not.

Because us as people really have an inferiority complex and are too self-conscious regarding these things, I remember how literally all of my Turkish writer friends (every single one of them) thought a Turkish main character would be EMBARRASSING in any fandom we would write for. We hated it, and everybody and their other writer friends also did. The idea of a Turkish character was cringy. But when other foreign writers would write Turkish OCs suddenly it was so cool and "AS BAYRAKLARI" .

I had a couple Filipino friends on wattpad who would write Filipino OCs and be so proud of their heritage and how they were incorporating it into the story, like, for example, I had a friend who re-designed and rebranded the planet Alderaan from Star Wars using their culture because the actress who played the queen was Filipino and she was so happy about it. It was so fascinating to me how she genuinely did something so creative and made it work so well. Another Filipino friend did this for Stranger Things, and in the heart of her story was immigrant struggles.

I never really questioned why Turkish people couldn't be like this until I was working on Vera, and her being Turkish started out as a joke. I wanted to immediately scrap it, thinking "no lmao what the fuck of course not" .

If another person did this, I would eat !! it !! up!!

But when I seriously wanted to make her Turkish it was suddenly embarrassing. It was a hard thing to get over. English fanfic reading really wires our brains to accept characters only of foreign nationalities and ethnicities because "it fits the story better" -- we only consume western media and hold it in higher regard.

I understand you so well, and I'm so glad I'm somehow encouraging you on this matter. Because why are we so embarrassed of ourselves?

rexsoka in the werewolf au

since my au is a modern with magic kinda thing the way I incorporate the war will be vague and convoluted. First of all it comes when Ahsoka turns 18 because we don't support child soldiers and stuff. for all intents and purposes, Rex is like 20 at that point. the politics behind it and whatever palps does isn't super important and frankly I don't feel like thinking about that bc it's too complicated and I only have so many braincells. what's important is that Anakin becomes a general (somehow. again, not concerned with the technicalities---though we are concerned about the mental stability of whoever decided that would be a good idea). Rex and the 501st consist of volunteers who are assigned under Anakin's command. Many of them are part of Rex's family somehow haha. he has a huge family.

anyway a few months into the war a lot of them are kidnapped and made into cindaku like I described in this post since palps is a warlock as we recall and wanted to play around with that weird dark magic and kriff. Rex and many of the boys return to the 501st after this horrifying episode, despite the option to be discharged. they are infuriated and even more inspired to continue fighting (having assumed that the perpetrator was working for the separatists). of course, the body horror n all that kinda freaks them out. they don't tell anyone what happened when they were POWs because a) it shouldn't be possible and b) they don't know who to trust. obviously they trust anakin but not to handle the situation gracefully and like fair. so they're trying to figure out how to control their supernatural sides (while palps is also trying to figure out how to control their supernatural sides) and at the same time they have a war to fight so it's pretty standard chaos.

then ahsoka enters the scene. She's 19 when she joins up because she went to an academy that guaranteed her a position as an officer instead of enlisting as soon as the war started so she's appointed as Anakin's commander. He has mixed feelings about it because that's his little sister and he's seen how brutal this war is and doesn't want it to hurt her at all but at the same time he knows she'll be great and he can't wait to see her in action and brag about what a cool person she is. He proudly introduces her to Rex and that's where the fun begins.

As soon as they step into the same room, the air tastes like ozone. their eyes lock, their hackles raise, and every nerve in their bodies screams danger enemy danger so they're totally on edge right off the bat and Anakin is just standing there with his hands on his hips glancing back and forth between them like is this sexual tension or?

it's not sexual tension. although they both have the subtle thought of oh no she's/he's hot floating in the back of their minds. It's just some classic dog/cat stand off that neither of them can place. and it's doubly disorienting because like rex is a golden retriever and Ahsoka is peak cat behavior. the reason Rex and the rest of the men didn't have this reaction to Anakin when they were rescued is because they already had a developed relationship with him before they were turned into shapeshifters and they had a pretty deep bond. plus also he was definitely the one to find and free them (with some help from obi-wan and friends because cody was also kidnapped) so their experiences override the innate instinct to view him as a hostile. They don't have this benefit when it comes to Ahsoka and I think that's hilarious.

instinctively they want to hate her so much. being in the same room as her is enough to set everyone on edge and make them super uncomfortable, which is really inconvenient because she has to give them orders and stuff. but they all come around quickly. they see that she genuinely cares for them, that she supports them whenever they need it, that she's willing to protect them with her life. They eventually overcome the persistent impression of something being not quite normal about her and learn to trust her the way they trust Anakin.

at the same time, they're assimilating each other into their found families, as they do. Domino twins have adopted her. there's no going back. Rex meanwhile rapidly starts to think of Ahsoka as his best friend. they have little in common---he's strict and professional while she's borderline feral and weirdly mystic---but the way they work is so seamless. she's so warm and caring, she's brave and confident, and always willing to listen, and a few times Rex thinks it might be okay to tell her what he really is. but there's a war going on; there's no time for that sort of drama. besides, it's not just his secret to share. it involves all his vode too, and he shouldn't make that call for everyone. but a guy can fantasize a little bit. not that he would. he's too focused and selfless for that 💀

lol this goes both ways tho. ahsoka says this is my bestie rex and introduces him to everyone like that. sorry barris. (barris understands. she has a bird's eye view and all the wherewithal to ship them to the nth degree). Ahsoka likes that rex is so firm and unflinching. he's super cool and kickbutt. he's also crazy smart, a mad strategist, and he's always commanding and collective which is way more than she can say for other guys her age, kriff. also he's hot. like that's definitely something to consider. she's contemplated biting him many times, or at least telling him that she's a wolf blood, but there's a war going on and she wouldn't put that on him when they have more important things to keep track of. she would never bite him without first explaining everything in detail because Anakin told her what happened when half the battalion was captured and Ahsoka could never bring herself to deprive Rex of his freedom in that way.

Ahsoka likes to compliment Rex on his incredible reflexes. whenever she does it around the rest of the men they all kind of just laugh nervously and give each other weird looks LOL 😭 one time Tup said Ahsoka smelled like wet dog because she walked into the tent and it was raining outside and Rex almost SKINNED that poor kitty even though she did omg I'm so funny what else? hmmm, Ahsoka found a jar of pickles in a town they passed through and was eating them as a snack and everyone got spooked by them before realizing they were pickles. She pulls one out of the jar in front of Rex and he jumps on top of the fridge. they stare at each other in disbelief for a solid few minutes. one time Rex got hit in the head with a stick that fell off a tree or something and in a fit of unchecked rage he yeeted it as hard as he could. Having just arrived on scene and clueless to the context, Ahsoka impulsively runs it down and brings it back. she grins and tells him that was fun. Rex's brain short circuits. Fives loans him a braincell. he throws the stick again. She brings it back again.

I think the reveal should happen in the middle of a battle because let's face it that's how they roll haha. the image in my mind right now is the classic Anakin and Ahsoka throwing Rex off the wall while it's exploding except he lands on his feet because he's a cat meanwhile anakin breaks his arm and dislocates both shoulders and Ahsoka is put into a coma. Up until that point Anakin and Ahsoka haven't been so badly injured that they couldn't heal within a day or two and easily hide from Kix and Coric or at least take care of each other, but now they're forced to see the medic for once and Kix doesn't know what to do with their weird biology he's just crying holding the test results like bro are you even human meanwhile Anakin is momentarily high on all the meds kix gave him and he's just babbling like "rex landed on his feet. he landed on his feet and didn't get hurt. rex landed. on his feet. on his feet oh force. we were thirty meters from the ground and there were explosions and he landed like a kriffing ballerina." and rex is just sitting outside sweating buckets like kriff kriff kriff i'm dead we're all dead because what he did shouldn't have been possible and he's just praying to the force that anakin and ahsoka won't remember. they do.

Ahsoka wakes up in a few hours which gives kix a flipping heart attack because she'd sustained a traumatic brain bleed then healed almost completely in less than a day and got up her same chipper self and turns to anakin who's chilling in the next cot over no longer high with both arms in slings looking very stupid (she takes the obligatory time to make fun of him for this) then just kinda raises her eyebrows like "so rex huh" he landed before they did so they had like two seconds to see him stick it before making contact.

They corner him after sneaking out of the medbay. Ahsoka apprehends him because Anakin still has those slings and can't really move 💀 then they both grill him about his impossible landing which may or may not have involved some sparkles (it was hard to tell with all the dust). they bring up every other instance where he performed just beyond the bounds of human capability, citing also his unusual bend towards catlike reactions and demand an explanation. he resists them for a surprisingly long time, still believing it's not his place to tell them, but eventually he breaks and spills everything. he's just so tired of keeping it secret, and they convince him that they'll keep it between themselves. He's somewhat ashamed that he caved and told them, feeling like he betrayed his brothers, but those feelings are pushed to the back of his mind when Ahsoka finally stops gaping at him and laughs out loud. "Well, I'm glad I didn't bite you." She snorts.

His brain is so fried this poor man. Anakin says they're werewolves. it makes too much sense for Rex to even ask for proof.

Cody and Obi-wan are observing this all from a distance nursing mild migraines because they told each other pretty much as soon as Cody and his vod'ike returned and actually have functional communication skills. They're just watching the 501st burn in chaos and are too weary to do anything except let it all happen.

Idk what set this off in my brain, but for some reason, I needed to write this down so here we go

BNHA x Wings of Fire au

So basically a dragon au lolol (I also have Haikyuu and Dr. Stone and maybe even Jujutsu Kaisen versions in the works because WoF is my CHILDHOOD dude)

(All of which will not exactly fit into canon WoF lore but it will be,,,, adjacent to it. Cannot guarantee that this will be spoiler free. Also will not be BNHA spoiler free. There will be spoilers.)

Alrighty, enough rambling Quill, just talk about the damn dragons lol

Starting with Edgejeanist (obviously)

Tsunagu - SilkWing: I feel like this was an obvious choice. They're the only tribe that can produce literally silk from their wrists, which is pretty dang close to fiberkinesis so I meannn :))

Shin'ya - RainWing: Ngl I was debating super hard on whether to make him a RainWing or HiveWing bc I absolutely ADORE the forbidden Silk/Hive romance dynamic, and I also briefly considered making him a NightWing because dark and mysterious. In the end, I had to go with Rain though because they're stealthy and deadly and I think that suits Shin'ya more. Also they're my favorite tribe.

((( I'm aware that those two tribes exist on totally different continents, but I got this funky idea for a stealth mission, where a certain little RainWing disguises himself as a HiveWing, and on his mission he runs into a SilkWing starting a rebellion :)

Enji - SkyWing: I feel like this one was obvious, too. Big, fiery, red dragon fits the vibe too well.

Rei - IceWing: Makes sense, right?

(((Obviously because of that, their kids are hybrids. Which would most likely make them outcasts to both tribes. How I see it is that something went down and now Rei, Natsuo, Fuyumi, and Shoto live in Possibility while Enji stays in the Sky Kingdom. I have some cool design ideas in mind for those guys.

Hawks - SkyWing: He doesn't have the typical SkyWing personality, but I think the fact that they're the best flyers makes up for that. It also gives a good reason for him to be working with Enji so frequently :)

Kuugo - SeaWing: This one's a no-brainer too lol. Dude is literally an orca, might as well make him a sea dragon (I ALSO have a cool design idea for him)

Kamui - LeafWing: Easy. I think it would fit him if he had the leafspeak ability, too!

Takeyama - RainWing: I struggled with her. I didn't want to make her a SkyWing (even though they live in the mountains) because she certainly does not fit the Vibe™ but I ended up going with RainWing because their camouflage is the closest you can get to transformation in this world I think? Without using animus magic ig. The personality kind of fits, too.

Rumi - Ice/NightWing: I couldn't think of anything else that fit?? her??? Ice fits her color palette and Night for her luna theme ig!! Also white rabbits that live in the tundra :))

Midnight - NightWing: Her name is a giveaway for this one lol

Snipe - SandWing: Desert. Cowboy. yes.

Thirteen - SeaWing: My brain made a connection between astronauts and the ocean. It makes sense in my head I swear.

Cementoss - MudWing: Concrete. Earthy :)

Fatgum - MudWing: Family type? I think?? Either way, he's built big and strong so it works out.

Nighteye - NightWing: From the name again. Also literal future vision.

All Might - RainWing: Stereotyped to be useless in-universe (so like, quirkless? but not really), but I also think it would be cool if he was an animus. Kind of like this au's equivalent to ofa. It works out because the color changing thing could be an equivalent to the transforming thing, too :O

AFO - either NightWing or HiveWing: I have yet to figure this one out because the tribes are ruled by queens not kings, but I wanted to incorporate the hivemind thing with him somehow. I feel like that would suit his character. Either that or make him an animus, which might suit him better. We'll see about that //shrug//

Touya - Ice/SkyWing: The only reason I'm marking him separately from his siblings is I think it would make a lot of sense for him to have firescales. (I have yet to work this out because I know he needs a twin for that, I might just work that around so that Fuyumi's his twin in this au.)

Skeptic - NightWing: I think it'd be cool if he had prophetic powers!!

Compress - HiveWing: Idrk with this one. Nothing else seemed to suit him and it fits his color palette anyway ┐⁠(⁠ ⁠∵⁠ ⁠)⁠┌

Toga - HiveWing: I was going to make her a RainWing because of their color changing scales, but I think it would suit her better to give her an animus-touched object that allows her to totally change her appearance instead. HiveWing for her because they can be pretty dangerous.

Shigaraki - Ice/SandWing?: Subject to change because I really genuinely don't know what to do for him. I'm thinking AFO could be an animus who gave Shigaraki animus powers, too? Leaving him as an Ice/Sand for now because it fits his colors and he's also dry (crusty) lmao

Spinner - SilkWing: ┐⁠(⁠´⁠(⁠エ⁠)⁠｀⁠)⁠┌ Green and purple scales

Shirakumo - IceWing: He doesn't exactly fit the IceWing personality, but they're the only tribe with cloud names that I know of.

Kurogiri - NightWing: Okok I know they're the same dragon but HEAR ME OUT. Animus magic. Kinda like the situation with Winter's brother in book 7. (Basically magic used to completely change someone's identity. With this specific spell, he wouldn't remember his previous identity.) I also think this would be kind of interesting to play around with the Ice/Night kingdom feud :]

Mic - SandWing: There's not really a tribe that has a particularly loud roar or anything, I think?? But I figured SandWing fit because they're a musical tribe and Mic is a DJ :))

Aizawa - NightWing: Nocturnal, stealthy in shadows, and general commanding presence.

Shinsou - NightWing: I mean.? Mind reading abilities!! Fits too well!!!

Eri - SilkWing: Specifically a flamesilk! Not that her character has anything to do with fire, but I think this suits her. I was originally going to make her an animus, but this fit better in my head.

Mirio - SandWing: I have the impulse to make every blond character a SandWing and I'm letting it slide this time (⁠ ⁠；⁠∀⁠；⁠)

Nejire - SilkWing: They were the closest vibe, I don't really have a good explanation for her 😅

Tamaki - RainWing: Color changing abilities are kind of like shapeshifting, right? I need to stop defaulting to RainWing for this ahskajsk

Hatsume - RainWing: RainWings are surprisingly creative, but also one of her main colors is pink.

Rody - Sand/MudWing: Idk, I just wanted to include him?? I really liked him. I think the background of him growing up in the Scorpion Den with his siblings is pretty canon compliant.

Midoriya - Rain/SandWing: Ngl I had no idea what to do with him other than the fact that I wanted him to be an animus, like All Might. Because he's a hybrid, he ended up not having any natural features of either tribes.

Bakugo - SandWing: Not exactly fiery, but it suits his color palette better. He could use those cactus bombs that are pretty explosive. Also SandWings are my second favorite tribe lol. Both him and Deku grew up in Possibility with Shoto.

Ochako - SeaWing: She can float with her quirk, and swimming underwater is kind of like floating, right?

Ojiro - RainWing: Prehensile tail :) Also they live in the rainforest with monkeys so it fits. Bonus that RainWings are way underestimated too often. Briefly considered making him a SeaWing bc of their powerful tails, but settled with Rain for all the other reasons :>

Tsuyu - RainWing: Camouflage and agility! Also lives in the rainforest with the tree frogs!

Mina - RainWing: They have the whole venomous acid thing???? Yeah.

Kirishima - MudWing: He fits the vibe :))

Aoyama - IceWing: Shiny.

Momo - SilkWing: They're pretty,, and they're the only tribe that can produce something like that

Jirou - HiveWing: This is the forbidden romance bit.

Kaminari - HiveWing: There's no tribe that's related to electricity, but HiveWing fits his colors and he can also be with Jirou this way :))

Sero - Silk/HiveWing: He fits the HiveWing color palette too well, but being able to produce silk from his wrists is pretty darn close to his quirk!! So he's a forbidden child :O

Shoji - SeaWing: Octopus theme!! Blue! Ocean vibes!!!

Tokoyami - NightWing: Darkness, mystery, strange telepathic abilities? Yes.

Kuroiro - NightWing: Same reason ^

Honenuki - HiveWing: Once again couldn't think of anything else for him but I wanted to include him because I love this kid. It fits his colors and I think the vibe passes.

Shiozaki - LeafWing: Again, duh /lh (She has leafspeak, too)

Komori - LeafWing: Leafspeak! Probably not as powerful as Shiozaki or Shinji, but she still has it. (I acknowledge that mushrooms aren't plants, but I say it's close enough)

Tetsutetsu - MudWing: Same as Kiri lolol

Kendou - MudWing: She also fits the vibe I think!! Sweet big sister!

Monoma - RainWing: Mimic-ish ability, also clever and severely underestimated!!

Tsubaraba - IceWing: Frost breath is the closest you can get to his quirk in this universe ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯

Kaibara - SeaWing: The vibe passes (I couldn't think of anything else 😭)

Awase - SeaWing: Cause he swears like a sailor, get it? /lh :]

Kamakiri - Hive/SilkWing: Another forbidden child!! He's sharp and insect-like, but he's green so he can't be pure HiveWing!!

Hiryu - LeafWing: ...... green scales

I couldn't possibly include everyone in a single post so I just put the more major characters and some of my favorites hfjskkfkf. Might come back to change some of these later, but for now this works :)) I didn't bother coming up with in-universe names for all of them because that would be too much (and I'd DEFINITELY end up recycling some names).

I don't know how original this idea is (I know someone out there is making a warrior cats au), but I'm doing it anyway >:)

How to do a Better Velma Show

No, I haven't watched HBO's Velma because it sucks ass based on the reviews, and I don't wanna boost its ratings by hate-watching. So, instead, I'm gonna provide a few ideas that I have to make a better show centred around Velma. These are only my ideas but feel free to give your opinions on them.

Make Velma flawed, but likeable and relatable. No character is perfect, but it's fine to include a few flaws in some characters. For her, maybe make her just a little bossy, regarding Shaggy, but not to the point of insufferable, in fact make her learn what being a good leader is, while keeping in touch with her famous characteristics. Make her a bit too quick thinking, but eventually have her learn better critical analysis when it comes to solving mysteries.

Race swaps are fine; include them if you want, but leave out the goddamn stereotypes, e.g. Velma being a pretentious, know-it-all southeast Asian girl. Like, not all Asians are like this!

Cut down on the gore and sex scenes. This is when they were set in HIGH SCHOOL, right??? So, why does it have a scene of some girls showering with their lady parts covered? I mean, come on, I know it's supposed to be for adults, but don't sexualise kids! Or keep bringing up peepee jokes in relation to some kid! (I'm talking about the one with Fred) Plus, as someone who draws gore, gore doesn't equal "mature show". Putting gore in a show for shock value just comes off as lazy. I also recommend either having the murder victims killed off in a "clean" way (no violence like removing their brains, maybe something mysterious) or maybe have them kidnapped or something. Yeah, Mystery Incorporated had a lot of death but didn't go over the top with its violent scenes.

Hire better voice actors. The voice acting in this show is terrible, particularly for those voicing the side characters and Mindy Kaling. :/ The other main characters, I feel they could be better, but the character with the most tolerable voice acting is Norville, voiced by Sam Richardson. He could sound a little goofy like Shaggy, but not too much. Speaking of...

Give my man Shaggy more respect. He doesn't have to get with Velma, but he also doesn't need to be treated this shitty. Like, maybe have her be touched by Shaggy's confession, but politely let him down and apologise for not being able to return those feelings. Also, make him a dog lover, a foodie, and take out the "junkie" jokes. Make him smart yet goofy as well!

Fred could've SERIOUSLY been done better. -_- I don't mind him being written as a rich kid, but maybe have him be a kind guy who's eager to be independent and start his own trap making business. An idea his own dad looks down upon. Have him be fed up hanging around with his douchebag jock friends and start hanging with the Mystery Gang slowly over time. Oh, and a personal choice, make him neurodivergent. :D

Make Velma neurodivergent as well. Just saying. UWU

Take out the godawful meta humour and pop culture references. I don't need to explain why, but I will say that Mindy Kaling should've actually put a lot more effort into her writing.

Have Daphne be only a slight snob, but not a bitch. In fact, have her eventually diss the status quo and go hang with the Mystery Gang and embrace her goofy self like in some other incarnations, e.g. Be Cool, Scooby Doo. Oh, and have her be part of the karate club.

Maybe have Velma's parents be more loving and perhaps diss the "missing mother" subplot. Maybe have them be divorced and Velma missing the time when they used to be together.

Somehow introduce Scooby Doo into this. The gang isn't the same without him.

More convincing platonic and romantic chemistry between characters. Doesn't matter if they're hetero or LGBT, MAKE THEM WORK.

BETTER DEPICTIONS OF PANIC ATTACKS.

Don't hire Mindy Kaling on the team. XD
