She couldn’t believe how much shit that stupid kiss had landed her in. Her head was clouded, arms crossed over her chest as she stared down at her lap, trying not to grumble. Not only her own manager was sat in the room, but 5 seconds of summer’s too, along with their bassist, one of the people she hated most, Calum Hood.
“We have seen how everyone reacted to the speculation,” The woman in front of her started, legs pressed together with a large binder sitting on her lap, hands folded gently on top. Normally Y/N got on quite well with her manager, Caroline, but right now she wanted to scream due to the words coming out of the woman’s mouth, “You’ve been gaining popularity from it, Y/N. This could be a great way for you to gain more of a following.”
Y/N had dreamed of the day she started to trend on Twitter, but this was not what she wanted to be trending for. She wasn’t trending for her music, not even her newest single. No, she was trending because everyone thought she was Calum Hood’s girlfriend.
Speaking of the boy, he sat beside her, keeping quietly to himself. This had to have been the first time that he had ever been in her presence where he hadn’t been annoying the shit out of her. Must be because his manager is in here. He had already been approached about it and seemed sold on the idea.
An idea of them being in a fake relationship.
Her, with Calum Hood. She wanted to scoff at the thought. He was unbearable at best, constantly annoying her to the point where she wanted to rip her hair out. When she had first been asked to be the opening act for 5 Seconds of Summer’s tour she had been ecstatic. The boys were nice, welcoming her onto their tour with open arms. Honestly, Y/N got on with all of them, apart from Calum. From the moment he set eyes on her he seemed determined to do anything and everything in his power to piss her off, slowly waiting until she finally lost her cool and lashed out. It was frustrating, especially considering Y/N knew she couldn’t do much about it.
Now, not only did she have to put up with Calum normally, but they wanted her to get close with him. To be in a fake relationship, which, obviously, meant spending more time with him.
“So, of course, you guys will have to be seen out in public with one another every so often so we were thinking you guys get ‘caught’ kissing my paps again, then we’re thinking dropping hints,” Ink began to get scribbled across a piece of paper, writing out a messy and brief plan which Y/N didn’t even want to look at, “Possibly y/n being caught wearing Calum’s shirt...We aren’t entirely sure yet but we will make sure to keep you updated. Do either of you have any questions?”
Despite the question seeming like it was for both of them, it was directed at Y/N, and she knew that. PR stunts and fake dating amongst celebrities were never unheard of, but she never thought she would be getting into one herself, not now and definitely not with Calum, “I do, actually. What’s in it for him exactly?”
The question was asked towards the two managers, y/n honestly didn’t want to even look at Calum right now. He probably wanted to do this simply to annoy her because he knew that he was the bane of her existence, but y/n just hoped that he wouldn’t get even more annoying, despite knowing he definitely would take advantage of the situation.
“Publicity,” His manager stated simply, nodding his head slightly in her direction. Y/n didn’t know what else to say, and they all were enveloped in a very uncomfortable silence before Caroline let out a sigh, snapping her folder shut.
“Well if that’s all,” She stood up, making y/n’s eyes travel up to her as she began to walk away, “We will leave you two be.”
With that, the two managers left without another word, shutting the door behind them. Y/n and Calum sat in awkward silence for a few moments, y/n’s eyes set firmly in the door before she stood up, going towards the door before Calum caught onto her hand.
“Where are you going?”
“Away,” Y/n huffed, tugging her hand away from the boy’s grip as she glared down at his hand. He awkwardly pulled his hand back, putting his hands down in his lap, “Going to get my last few hours of peace before we have to start this PR stunt.”
“Aw y/n/n, not wanna spend time with me, huh?” Calum teased, making her roll her eyes. He was already annoying her and he had barely spoken three sentences to her; something he had a special gift for.
“No, not really,” He gave her a fake pout before a smirk rose to his lips, making her roll her eyes.
Calum was acting as if she would actually enjoy his company. The same Calum Hood that woke her up by pouring a bucket of water on her that morning. Freezing cold water. Dickhead.
“Why are you doing this? Like why are you actually doing this?” She asked suddenly, making Calum meet her gaze with those brown eyes of his.
He shrugged, averting his gaze for a moment before speaking, “Publicity. It might not get us any more listeners but it’ll get people talkin’.”
They fell into an uncomfortable silence before y/n nodded her head, “Fair enough. I’m gonna get going. Bye.”
And with that, y/n left the room.
Both y/n and Calum were walking together, hand in hand after a lovely ‘date’ together. It, honestly, was nothing short of awkward. Honestly, they didn’t know what to talk about with one another when they weren’t fighting; something that they became painfully aware of on their trip out that evening.
Calum, despite normally being reserved and quiet in public, actually took the lead in the conversation. Mostly because y/n didn’t know what to say and they knew that they couldn’t sit in silence, especially if someone noticed them and noticed that they didn’t even talk to one another.
It was the first PR date that had been set up, only three days after their meeting discussing the start of their fake relationship. Y/n couldn’t lie, she was incredibly nervous and uncomfortable, her white dress doing nothing to protect her from the cold air nipping at her skin.
As instructed, she was holding onto Calum’s arm, one wrapped around and intertwined with his bicep and the other one clasping their hands together. It’s a strange and awkward movement to uphold, especially when walking but they do it nonetheless.
“Calum, stop going so fast, I can’t keep up properly,” Y/n muttered to him quietly, almost tripping over her own feet when she felt herself getting tugged yet again due to her hold on Calum.
His eyes briefly flicked back to her, “I can’t really help it, y/n. I’m already going as slow as I can.”
“Well sorry I don’t have legs like the BFG like you, I’m trying not to fall ‘cause you keep tugging at me. This dress was not a good move for this,” She grumbled quietly again and Calum doesn’t even reply. Instead, he started walking even faster, “Calum! Slow down!”
She was pulled into a lane by Calum by the time she had finished that sentence, his hands on either side of her arms holding her in place. His broad shoulders are obstructing her from being able to see out of the small alleyway but before she could ask why he did that, he’s shushing her quietly and whispering, “Saw the paps. They saw me, too. It’s time.”
God, he made it sound so dramatic. It wasn’t like they were fighting off any evil spirit or villain, all they had to do was get caught kissing by the paps. It didn’t seem like it was going to be a particularly difficult job, just one they had to execute properly, and right now everything was going pretty smoothly. They just had to make sure that it looked authentic and like they actually wanted to do it.
He let out a breath he was holding as he looked down at her, asking her silently for permission to start as his fingers went around the back of her neck, thumb resting on her cheek. She nodded her head and he began to lean in, y/n standing on her tip-toes with her arms splayed over Calum’s shoulders woth him bending down and pressing his lips on hers.
They kissed for several moments, taking little breaks in between. No tongue was a rule they had decided on so instead they stuck to closed mouth. On the last peck shared between the two of them, Calum gently pulled away, y/n’s bottom lip trapped between his lips before her feet hit the ground, their lips now completely disconnected.
She, discretely, tried to peek around Calum to see the paps, but couldn’t, so instead, they stayed in that position for a little while longer. Her eyes glanced up at Calum, seeing him still staring down at her, she whispered, “What?”
“Nothing,” He dismissed, shaking his head hesitantly before he took a small step back before putting his hand out for y/n to grab onto. She shot him a smile as she laced their fingers together, tugging him along and out of the alley.
The games had begun.
It’s only about a week later when y/n was doing her washing as normal in some hotel’s launderette. She had been off of social media for the past few days, paying no mind to the several thousand people talking about her and Calum's 'relationship’. It surely had blown up, and some might say more than they had expected it to. Y/n had accumulated thousands of more followers after the whole fiasco and although she wouldn’t admit it, she enjoyed seeing the fan theories.
Calum had actually been a lot nicer to her recently, something she hadn’t expected, but enjoyed very much. A smile is on her face as she thought about the lack of pranks that he had been playing on her, and sure, he was still irritating her but it was simply with his words. He walked her down to the launderette, before turning to get his own load of dark clothes.
Surprisingly, despite having rather heavy music, y/n owned quite a lot of white clothes. Sure, she mostly wore black, but right now she was washing her white clothes. Well, what were her white clothes...
Now? They’re pink.
She took the wet fabric out of the washer, noticing one of her favorite white dresses is now dyed an ugly pink, one that she knows she won’t pull off. Her eyebrows are furrowed, a frown settling on her face as she tried to pull the clothes out, trying to find the root cause of the problem.
That’s when she found it. A red sock; Calum’s red sock.
Suddenly everything seemed to make sense as to why he was being so nice to her; so he could pull another prank on her when she least expected it. That’s why he had waited behind once she left the launderette, that’s why he seemed so interested in her white, now pink, clothes that she apparently ‘hadn’t washed in a while and should definitely wash’.
“Calum!” She screamed out in anger, glad for the lack of other people in the small room, clenching her fists around the wet, pink clothes in her hand. They’re all ruined, inconsistent blotches of different shades of pinks coating the fabrics.
It was only seconds later when Calum popped his head up in confusion, “Yeah?”
Except, Y/n didn’t reply, and instead trained her e/c eyes onto his brown ones with a firm glare, one filled with frustration and anger. He, however, hadn’t seen her glare just yet as he surveyed the room before he catches onto her crouched-down figure. She watched as they trailed down to the pink clothes in her hand and he struggles to fight a grin off of his face.
“Thought you were doin’ a white load, y/n/n?” His voice had snide amusement in it and it only made y/n even madder.
However, before she replied, she grabbed onto the red sock of his and threw it at his head, letting out a complaint that sounds more like a whine, “You’ve ruined my favorite dress, asshole!”
“Woah calm down sweetheart, don’t be rude to your boyfriend,” Calum teased, walking around to where y/n was sat, reaching down to ruffle her hair. She quickly swatted his hand away with a grumble.
“Fake. Fake boyfriend, Hood.”
Calum simply rolled his eyes in reply, waving her off, “Yeah, yeah whatever. Enjoy your pink clothes.”
It was only a week later when management is rushing them to take nice pictures together and becoming Instagram official. Theories are still burning in the air, especially after they were ‘caught’ by paps, kissing, for a second time. Everyone knew something was going on, that much was obvious, but they wanted to hear it from them.
They snapped pictures off stage, the last one being of Calum’s arm over y/n’s shoulder, holding her close to his body with her lips placed on his cheek. Her eyes are closed upon instruction, and he has a bright smile on his face, looking straight at the camera. The photos they snapped were quickly looked over before they’re approved to post on Instagram.
Y/n doesn’t know what to say, and in fact, she’s finding it hard to breathe. It was only fifteen minutes before she had to go on stage for their next concert, and this was the most nervous she had felt in ages. What if she gets hate? What if the whole fandom hated her? She knew that most likely some fangirls would be jealous, that was perfectly understandable, she just hoped no one went far enough to send her tons of hate; especially considering it was fake.
Y/n didn’t like this situation any more than they did but there was nothing she could do about it. Watching over Calum’s shoulder, she saw him press post, and she felt like she couldn’t even breathe. She felt like the air was being restricted from her lungs, and she can’t even bring herself to opening her phone to see people freaking out over the announcement of their ‘relationship’.
“Well, that’s that.” Calum looked at her over his shoulder, letting out a soft sigh as his brown eyes wrack over her face. She’s pale, and she didn’t even seem to hear his as he talked, making his eyebrows furrow in confusion, “Y/n? You good there?”
“Yeah, yeah, I’m fine,” She dismissed quickly, taking a step away from him, wringing her hands awkwardly. She’s nodding her head, but her eyes are firmly set on the ground now and Calum knows that she’s nervous. Sure, the two weren’t close and Calum took enjoyment in annoying her, but he was surprisingly good at telling how she was feeling simply from her body movements.
He hesitated, lips parting as he thought of what to say as he stared at the smaller girl who looked like she wanted the ground to swallow her whole, but after a few moments, his lips snapped shut. He wasn’t good at consoling, especially not her. And even if he did want to try, what could he possibly say?
This situation wasn’t ideal for her. Sure, it got her publicity, but he knew it wasn’t the type that she wanted. She hadn’t been fully introduced to the famous lifestyle yet, articles written about her, fan accounts, everything so he knew this was going to be hard for her. It took him a while to adjust to the lifestyle, and sure things like paps were still uncomfortable but they weren’t scary anymore.
As he stared at her, a frown prominent on his lips, he studied her. He noticed how awkward and uncomfortable she had become from the moment that he had posted the photo, almost as if she was awaiting an attack. He knew it was scary, the paps, the fangirls, and he also knew that this abrupt change in lifestyle from this moment on was going to be difficult for her; so he would make it easier.
He would answer the questions, take the heat about the relationship. He would protect her from all of the nasty comments as best as he could because no one deserved to be flung into the lifestyle like she was being right now, despite wanting publicity. This was a whole new life starting for her from the moment he posted the picture and as he nodded his head discretely, it was like a deal had been sealed with himself.
He was going to help her through this, even if she still hated him.
It was three hours after the show had taken place and she still hadn’t turned her phone back on yet. She felt sick to her stomach, staring at her phone almost as if it was taunting her; itching for her to open Instagram but at the same time, wanting her to stay far, far away from the app.
Yet, soon enough she found herself booting up her phone and going onto Instagram, almost immediately finding Calum’s photo. She clicked on the comments and was pleasantly surprised. People were actually being supportive.
“omg look at them!!!”
“THEY LOOK SO GOOD TOGETHER WTF”
“I want someone to look at me the way Cal looks at Y/n”
That last one made her smile. She knew exactly what picture they were referencing. The one where y/n has her back to the camera in Calum’s embrace, and he’s staring down at her with a smile, arms wrapped around her, pulling her flush against his chest. She remembered her face buried deep into Calum’s shirt, surprised that the makeup she was wearing didn’t rub off on the material.
She was subconsciously shaking her head as she pulled her knees to her chest, resting her chin on top of them. She flicked back up to the pictures, almost analyzing the way Calum stared down at her. The fan was right, Calum looked at her with so much “love” in his eyes, a look that y/n had never seen on Calum before.
It was crazy. If y/n didn’t know any better she would think that Calum actually was in love with her but the only thing he loved about her, was how annoyed he could get her. Calum was certainly a good actor, looking at her like she was the sun and he was the revolving planets; like the only girl in the entire universe. Well, at least if Calum got bored of music he could go into acting.
They already had everyone fooled, and they were just getting started...

I want the words
Smile
Sun
Ashton
~umbrella~
And
Quiet
you shall have the words jess. thanks for asking 💜
smiles are inherently used as displays of happiness! but guess what! not this one.
Calum pulls a smile onto his face the same way he shrugged on his coat this morning, and it’s all just a cover, more protection from the cold.
slightly angsty? but its the only sun i could find <3
After all, Luke is meant to be the one leaving, and he hates that the universe has spun this moment on him and left him to watch Calum’s dark head disappear into the crowd, like the sun shifting behind a cloud.
wow. so subtle jess. here have your short-and-sweet ashton:
Ashton pets his head in a way that would be awkward if it was anyone else, but it’s just Ash, so it’s fine.
[i don't have any umbrellas! sorry!]
i found a slightly whacky and (or three) for u. bc i could. enjoy
There’s a lot of people here, in either tight, or not much clothing at all, and yeah, this is why Michael doesn’t take Luke to dance practice. It’s hard to hide when you’re the only one wearing a baggy hoodie and sneakers, not leggings and skin-tight singlets, and this is possibly the most uncomfortable Michael has felt all week. He’s gonna strangle Calum later for using Luke’s car.
this sounds,, interesting out of context. its the first quiet i found tho so lets go with it
Now that they’re here, standing beside his bed… it does look very small. Luke says a mental sorry, then gently pushes Calum back onto the rumpled comforter. Well, somewhat gently, but perhaps not as gently as he thought, judging by the quiet “oof, okay then” that Calum murmurs.
Send me a word, if it’s in my wip document I’ll answer your ask with the sentence that it appears in

Cynosure: something that strongly attracts attention and admiration
Summary: Shy Elena gets more than she bargains for when her best friends cocky brother moves in with her.
“Sorry I’m late.” Elena slid into the booth that Mali was sitting in, a glass of wine in front of her and one on the table across from her that she ordered for Elena, knowing that she would be late. She wasn’t the most punctual of people, that was one of her many flaws.
“I’m used to it by now.” Mali chuckled and closed the menu she had been looking at for the ten minutes she waited for Elena to arrive. They were meeting for their weekly Friday night dinner and it was Mali’s turn to pick the restaurant. It wasn’t like they didn’t see each other almost every other day, but they enjoyed sitting down in a nice restaurant and getting to hang out just the two of them, without their other friends.
“Ha-ha.” Elena rolled her eyes and sipped her wine. They chatted for a little while, talking about their days, until their server came back to take their food orders. And as they waited, Mali finally cleared her throat and changed the subject to what she originally wanted to talk to Elena about.
“So,” Mali cleared her throat nervously, looking at her younger friend, and Elena could tell instantly that her best friend was nervous about something. Cocking an eyebrow, Elena put down her glass of wine and waved her hand, urging her to speak. “Calum, you know my brother, is moving back here.”
“Oh? Why don’t you sound more excited?” Elena knew that Mali and her brother were close, the best of friends even, and she had heard so much about him and seen pictures of the handsome man Mali that called her brother, but she had never met him in person. She wasn’t sure why Mali didn’t sound excited about the news of her brother moving back to New York from California.
“I am excited! Trust me - I am, it’s just, he needs a place to stay until he gets a job and enough money to get his own place and get up on his feet and… I know that you have an extra bedroom that nobody is using, so I was wondering if he could stay with you?” Mali’s voice was high pitched at the end, full of hopefulness and wishing.
“Oh, uh, well why can’t he stay with you?” Elena wasn’t completely opposed to the idea of Mali’s brother staying with her, she was just a little hesitant because she had never met him before and she wasn’t sure if she would be able to live with such an attractive man, especially since it was her best friends brother, without feeling uneasy about it. And, to say she was shy and awkward around attractive men, and really anybody she didn’t know, was an understatement.
“He and Marco don’t get along. Remember?” Marco, Mali’s boyfriend, wasn’t a big fan of Calum and vise versa. Elena nodded her head knowingly, having forgotten about the story Mali told her of Calum and Marco getting into a physical fight a few years back, and never resolving it. “Please, Elena? He really needs a place to stay and I wouldn’t ask you if he didn’t need it. You know that. He hates when I do things for him.” Mali batted her eyes and jutted out her lower lip. “And he’s so quiet! You won’t even know he’s there.”
Elena gnawed on her lower lip, deep in thought as she decided what to do. Even if she really wanted to, even if she was totally and completely opposed to it, Elena really couldn’t say no to Mali. Her best friend needed her help and Mali had helped Elena out before when she needed it, so she owed her one, and she wasn’t going to let her best friends brother be homeless. If Elena was Calum’s only option - she was going to help him.
“Please, El?” Mali clasped her hands together, dragging out her words as she watched Elena, chew on her lower lip in thought. “I know you’re shy and I know you’ll feel weird at first since you don’t know him, but Cal is great, really! And I’ll forever be in your debt.”
Exhaling a heavy sigh, Elena nodded her head. “Alright, fine.” She finally spoke and Mali’s face lit up, clapping her hands and cheering. Elena was happy to help, she really was, but she wasn’t sure what would come of it.
***
“Hello?” Mali called out excitedly, letting herself in Elena’s house like she had done so many times before, motioning for Calum to follow her. He did so, hesitantly, and adjusted the bags he was holding. He didn’t have a lot, just two big duffel bags full of clothes, and a guitar or two in the car outside of Elena’s house in her driveway. “Elena! Where are you?”
“Kitchen!” Elena called out, licking her finger clean of brownie batter that was on it. She looked up at the sound of Mali’s high heels clicking against her wooden floors and smiled at her best friend. Her smile just barely falling when she saw Calum enter the kitchen behind Mali. God, he was so much hotter in person than in pictures.
It’s not like Elena had forgotten that Calum was going to be moving in that day, if anything, she really couldn’t stop thinking about it. She was nervous, to say the least, but seeing him in person made it reality.
“Cal, this is Elena, my best friend. El, this is Calum, my brother, obviously.”
“It’s nice to finally meet you,” Elena smiled genuinely, but nervously, at the man in her kitchen, that was now also his kitchen, and let her eyes trail up and down his body as he looked around. He was gorgeous, that much was obvious. In a pair of navy and green plaid pants and a plain black t-shirt, his beauty was effortless.
“Yeah, you too, Elena.” Calum nodded his head and she gulped at how easy her named rolled off of his tongue, how appealing her name sounded coming out of his mouth. His smile, just barely there, was already making Elena’s stomach churn. She couldn’t tell if it was a good or bad thing. “Heard a lot about you.”
“All good things I hope.” Elena laughed, looking at Mali who just shrugged innocently.
“Can’t promise you that,” Calum chuckled and winked at her, successfully making her pale freckled covered cheeks heat up. She looked away from him, hoping that he hadn't noticed her blushing, and turned around to put the brownies she made in the oven. “So,” Calum clapped his hands together. “Where am I sleepin’?”
“Do you want to show him, Mali?” Elena asked in hopes that her best friend would do the honors and she wasn’t stuck being an awkward mess around him.
“I’ve actually got to run now.” Mali checked the time on her watch and started walking backwards to the door. She looked between her brother and best friend and grinned, holding two thumbs up. She felt bad that she couldn’t stay any longer to be an ice breaker, but duty calls, and she was already late to work. “Have fun, you two!”
Suddenly, Elena felt even more insanely awkward and anxious. Being alone with Calum and just having met him had Elena not knowing how to act around the attractive man. She was in the comfort of her own home, and she was going to be living with him, and it’s not like he was a total and complete stranger, so why the hell was she so anxious?
“I, uh, I’ll- I guess I’ll give you the grand tour.” Elena laughed nervously and wiped her sweaty hands on her jeans. She showed him around the average sized house, the basement, the backyard that had a pool and a nice porch that Elena loved, the bathroom that he would be using, and finally, his bedroom. “It’s, um, it’s kind of small. Sorry about that.”
“No worries. I’m just glad you’re lettin’ me stay with you.” Calum smiled down at her and entered the room completely, dropping his bags down by the queen sized bed and looked around. Elena was right, it was a small room with a dresser across from the bed and a TV on top of it, a small closet next to that, and a good sized window next to the bed that had access to the roof. “You’re really savin’ my ass, Elena.”
“It’s no problem,” Elena waved her hand dismissively. “I’m glad I can help, you and Mali. I’ll let you, uh, get settled. Make yourself at home. Mi casa es su casa.”
Elena smiled once more before leaving the room and shutting the door behind her, resting her back against it and letting out a deep sigh. Mi casa es su casa? Since when did she speak Spanish?
Some of her anxiousness had subsided, just barely, but she still wasn’t fully calm, and she knew that if she was going to comfortably live with Calum, her best friends annoyingly hot brother, she needed to get her shit together. Fast.
***
“So, are there any house rules I should know about?” Calum spoke as he jumped up on the counter in the kitchen. Elena was sitting at the table in the corner of the kitchen and dining room that were combined, eating her Cap’n Crunch.
“House rules?” Elena cocked an eyebrow and dropped her spoon in her bowl that was now only filled with milk. She wasn’t a huge fan of milk, but refused to eat cereal plain. Getting up to pour out the milk and put her dish in the sink, Elena had to reach around Calum, who was strategically in the way of the sink. Her arm rubbing against the side of his thigh just slightly.
Her hand just barely grazed his leg, but she felt an electric shock and a fire from his leg against her hand. It was crazy, really, the effect he had on her. She had slept with a handful of men, all rather attractive, but she hadn’t ever found them as attractive as she did with Calum. He had barely even touched her and she was a blushing nervous wreck. She hated it.
“Yeah, you know, like am I not allowed to eat your cereal, or drink milk out of the carton, or like, bring home girls?” Calum asked as he chewed the leftover brownies that Elena had made for him as a welcome home gesture. He appreciated it, and her, for letting him stay with her. And she appreciated him being polite and asking what she did and didn’t like in her own house.
Elena laughed quietly and shook her head. “I’m not really big on rules. I don’t care if you bring home any girls, just be quiet, if you do.” Elena couldn’t think of anything else, really. She didn’t mind if he ate her cereal or drank milk out of the carton, even though that was kind of gross. “And just don’t smoke in the house, okay? That’s my only rule, really.”
Calum wasn’t sure how she knew that he smoked, he guessed that Mali mentioned it before he moved in, but he didn’t care how she knew or that she did, it would have come up one way or another with them living together, but he was going to respect her wishes and not smoke in her house. He wouldn’t have smoked in the house anyway, hating that the smell of cigarette smoke lingered and stuck to everything.
“I can live with that.” Calum jumped down from the counter and chewed the rest of the brownie that was in between his fingers. “Maybe livin’ with you won’t be so bad after all.”
Furrowing her eyebrows, Elena turned around and crossed her arms over her chest insecurely and defensively. “What- what does that mean?” She shook her head in confusion.
“I wasn’t too keen on movin’ in with my sister’s hot best friend, you know? Felt like kind of a loser with my sister asking you to let me crash here. But,” Calum smirked and stepped closer, moving a piece of hair out of Elena’s face, his knuckles grazing the apple of her cheek every so lightly. “With the way you baked those brownies, I think I can live with it for a little while.”
With that, Calum dropped his hand and walked away, leaving a very stunned, and very blushing and confused, Elena with wide eyes and a hanging jaw. Had he just called her hot? Directly to her face? Shit. She really needed to pull it together.
***
Elena could have killed Calum. It was enough that he was annoyingly attractive and borderline cocky, but did all of his friends have to be hot, too? Elena looked out her bedroom window when she woke up at noon, she was one to sleep in often, and groaned when she saw her backyard filled with Calum and his hot friends doing cannonballs into her - their pool.
She wanted to lay out by the pool, since she didn’t have to do much work and it was nice and not raining for the first time in days, but she didn’t want to crash their party. She didn’t feel like she was invited to hang out outside, even though it was her house, she just didn’t feel welcomed. And honestly, she would probably be an awkward, blubbering mess around four attractive men. Shirtless men.
Elena stood in the kitchen, a cup of iced coffee in her hand that she made the night before, and a piece of toast in front of her. She was still groggy from just waking up and her actions were slow and lazy. “You just now wakin’ up?” Calum asked her, knocking her out of her daydream, and she turned around slowly to see him in nothing but a pair of swim trunks and water droplets dripping down his body.
His attractiveness wasn’t fair, Elena thought. “Uh, yeah.” Her voice was sleepy and raspy and Calum looked her up and down, taking in the oversized t-shirt and lack of pants she had on. Her hair was thrown up in a bun and her face free of makeup and Calum decided right then and there that he thought she was adorable just post sleep. “I’m not a morning person.”
“Yeah, Mali told me.” Calum laughed and ran a hand through his wet hair. Elena let her eyes trail over Calum’s body and face, almost catching his eyes but looked away before she could get caught, and pretended to look curiously out of the kitchen window. There were the three attractive men, laughing and messing around with each other in the pool. “Sorry, I guess I could’ve asked if the guys could come over.”
Elena furrowed her eyebrows at the grown man in front of her that sounded more like a teenaged boy talking to his mother, and the corner of her lips turned up just slightly. Shaking her head, she assured him, “You’re living here, too, Calum. You don’t need to ask my permission for anything.”
Calum nodded his head and pointed his thumb behind him in the direction of the backyard. “Well, we’re outside swimmin’ and drinkin’ some beers,” Calum ruffled his wet hair, spraying water all over the floor, and while that would usually annoy Elena, she couldn’t help but not care. She was too tired and too distracted by Calum’s bare chest and stomach to care in that moment. “If you wanna join?”
Elena was thankful for the offer, but she still wasn’t sure if she wanted to hang out with Calum and his friends. She barely knew Calum in the first place, and she definitely hadn’t met any of his friends, and she wasn’t sure if she wanted to sit through that with her being so awkward around new people. “I don’t want to impose.”
Elena was shy, that much was obvious, but Calum found it kind of endearing. She was gorgeous, but didn’t seem nearly as confident as she should have been. Calum was used to girls throwing themselves at him and flirting nonstop, but Elena was the exact opposite. She didn’t like to be in a room with him alone for too long and she wasn’t even close to flirting with him. It was weird for Calum to not have a girl he was living with to throw herself at him, but he was also glad for it. He wouldn’t have enjoyed living with a girl who was constantly trying to make moves on him.
“It’s your house, Elena, I’m practically just a guest.” Calum reminded her with a small smirk. He didn’t want her to feel unwelcome in her own house and nervous around him and his friends, and even though he hadn’t known her for longer than two weeks, Calum knew she wouldn’t have stepped foot outside if he hadn’t invited her. And, Calum definitely wouldn’t have minded seeing her in a bathing suit. “You wouldn’t be imposing. And the guys wanna meet you. So, what do ya say?”
The charming smile that graced Calum’s face had Elena biting her lower lip and nodding her head, giving in way too quickly to his boyish charm. Elena would have felt like a loser, holed up in her house while her roommate and his friends were outside having fun, anyway. “Let me just go change and I’ll meet you out there.”
Calum saluted her before grabbing two beers out of the fridge and making his way back outside to the pool. Elena rinsed her cup out and headed up to her bedroom to change. Gnawing on her lower lip, she looked through her bathing suits and tried to choose one that wasn’t too revealing- which weren’t many.
Elena settled on a yellow two piece string bikini that she had just purchased and hadn’t worn yet, figuring it would be a good time to wear it. Grabbing a towel out of the linen closet, Elena made her way back downstairs and outside to the pool. She had her towel wrapped around her body, held tight against it, since there were now suddenly four pairs of eyes on her.
“Calum’s new roommate! Hey!” A blonde guy with long curly hair waved to her from the float he was sitting on in her pool with a beer in his hand. “Come join the party!”
Elena did so, reluctantly, and took the only open lawn chair that was next to Calum’s. Calum introduced her to his friends- Michael, Ashton, and Luke. She waved and introduced herself shyly and finally dropped her towel so she could lay in the sun. She wasn’t facing the guys, except Calum, but she could feel all pairs of eyes on her.
“Here,” Calum held out the second Corona he grabbed from the fridge just before. “I got you a beer.” Elena eyed it hesitantly, not knowing for sure if she wanted to drink at just half past noon, but figured that if she drank a few beers it would loosen her up a bit around the men she didn’t know and, hopefully, not be as awkward. “You do drink, right?”
“Uh, yeah, I do. Thanks.” Elena smiled shyly as she took the already opened beer with the lime in it. Elena wasted no time as she chugged down half of it in one gulp. She drank often, but not in excessive amounts out of fear of doing or saying something embarrassing.
Calum looked at her with an amused smile on his face as she chugged it down, not expecting her to drink so fast and willingly, but enjoyed watching her nonetheless. He continued watching her as she stood up and opened the bottle of sunscreen that Michael brought, and bit his lip as she lathered herself in it. Elena tried to reach behind her to cover her back, but huffed in annoyance when she couldn’t reach and get it all covered.
“Let me help.” Standing up, Calum took the bottle from Elena and gestured for her to soon around, and she did so hesitantly. It seemed everything she did around Calum was hesitant. Hesitance should have been her middle name. Breath hitching in her throat, Elena tensed when she felt Calum’s hands, cold from his beer, on her exposed skin.
Calum took his sweet time, lathering the sunscreen on her back, finding it amusing that she was so tense and nervous around him, but he loved it. He could feel his friends eyes on them and could see Ashton smirking from where he was sitting, but he ignored them, with a smirk of his own on his face. He knew what he was doing to Elena, how he was making her feel, and he kind of felt like an asshole, but it also made him feel good. He loved the effect he already  had on her.
“Thanks.” Elena mumbled once Calum told her he was done and she finally laid back on the lawn chair. Sighing in content, Elena felt the sun beat down on her and let herself be distracted by the music that was coming out of Calum’s speaker. Elena, momentarily, forgot that she was surrounded by attractive men she didn’t know.
“So, Elena,” Elena opened her eyes to see Luke holding himself up on the edge of the pool, his chin resting on his crossed arms, as he looked at her. She sat up to see him better, not wanting to be rude or disrespectful as he spoke to her, and adjusted the sunglasses on her face. “Tell us about yourself. All we know is that you’re Mali’s best friend.”
“What, uh, what do you want to know?”
Luke shrugged carelessly. “Just, you know, the basics.”
Elena went on to tell Luke, and the rest of the boys because she knew they were listening, that she was twenty-two, her favorite color is yellow, she met Mali through mutual friends and they hit it off, she was a journalist and her job gave her the luxury of working from home most of the time, only going into the office once or twice a week. That’s really all she could think of to tell them. She didn’t find herself that interesting of a person.
“Do you have a boyfriend?” Luke asked, surprising Elena but not Ashton, Calum, or Michael. They just laughed at Luke’s nosy behavior. They were used to it, but Elena, not so much.
“Uh, no. I don’t.” Elena shook her head.
“Why not?” Luke tilted his head to the side in curiosity. He thought she was gorgeous, just as Calum did, so he couldn’t understand why she was she single. “I mean, you’re a solid ten, so it just doesn’t make any sense to me.”
Elena’s eyes widened and her cheeks were on fire, she was sure, as the guys, minus Calum who was shaking his head and glaring at his best friend, laughed at Luke’s clearly tipsy confession.
“I-I don’t know,” Elena laughed sadly and awkwardly. Relationships weren’t her fortay, the last three she hadn’t ended too well and she wasn’t going to put herself through that again. And, also, she hadn’t met any guys interested in her enough to be her boyfriend, but honestly, Elena was fine with just casually sleeping around. For now. “Guess I just can’t find a guy interested enough.”
Luke clicked his tongue and started to swim away. “What a shame.”
Elena sat there, confused and blushing at Luke’s words, and continued to drink her beer that had gotten warm from the sun. She finished the rest before it got too warm and cleared her throat as she stood up. “I’m, uh, I’m-I’m going to get another beer.”
Elena excused herself and quickly walked inside, sighing happily at the air conditioning that was blasting through the house, and wiped the sweat off her forehead that wasn’t just from the heat. Luke’s words and his so openly telling her that she was attractive made Elena extremely flustered and borderline embarrassed. She hated being the center of attention, so Luke putting her on the spot like that made her extremely nervous.
Calum made himself known in the kitchen and grabbed a beer out of the fridge just as Elena did minutes before. She was already halfway through her new one to ease her nerves and anxiety. It didn’t seem to be working as well as she would have liked.
“‘M sorry about Luke,” Calum leaned against the counter next to Elena and inhaled a sharp breath through his nose. He could smell Elena perfectly; her vanilla shampoo and the sunscreen he had put on her and the small amount of sweat on her body, and his swim trunks, that were already a little bit tight, tightened. He was overwhelmed by the smell and sight of her. He couldn’t understand why he found her so attractive, but he wasn’t trying to fight it. That would have been pointless. “He has no filter. Especially when he’s drinking.”
Elena could tell that Luke was the most talkative one out of the group. She had only heard Michael and Ashton say a few words and had obviously talked to Calum dozens of times with them living together, but Luke, out of all of them, was the most talkative and the most confident, it seemed. He exuded confidence and self assurance. He and Elena were the opposite.
“I know you’re, like, super shy, and Luke isn’t, so-“
“I’m not that shy.” Elena interrupted defensively, crossing her arms across her chest and propping her hip against the counter. It wasn’t a complete lie, that Elena wasn’t that shy, because she wasn’t. Around her close friends she was talkative and confident and kind of crazy in a good way, but around people she didn’t know well? She was closed off and kept to herself, only talking when somebody started a conversation with her and when it was necessary.
“No?” Calum smirked and took a step closer to her. They were standing the closest they had ever been, with their breath fanning against each other’s faces and their chests nearly touching. Calum tucked her hair behind her ear and slowly, teasingly, ran his thumb over her lower lip. He had never wanted to kiss somebody so badly. “Then show me, Elena. Show me you’re not as shy as I think you are.”
Elena gulped audibly, Calum heard it and tried not to smirk, but she regained her composure and took half a step closer. She was trying to be confident, and it seemed to be working, well, in Calum’s eyes it was, in hers, she still felt awkward. Calum’s bare chest was now pressed against Elena’s with her cleavage spilling out of the top of it, and she put her hands on his shoulders, pulling herself up on the tips of her toes. Their lips were a bear centimeters away, almost touching, and Calum’s hands on Elena’s hips were burning her skin. They both leaned it, lips just barely grazing, when the door burst open.
They jumped apart, both of them clearing their throats and running their hands through their hair, to compose themselves, acting as if nothing had happened. Or nothing almost happened. It was Michael who had walked in and who was now cocking an eyebrow, rolling his lips into his mouth to hide his smile. “Am I interrupting something?”
“Nope.”
“No.”
“Not at all. Nope.” Calum repeated, picked up his beer, and nodded his head at his best friend, making a beeline for the door.
It seemed as if it was easier for Calum to compose himself, unlike Elena, who still had red cheeks and sweat on the back of her neck and on her forehead. Her entire body was on fire and all she wanted to go was take a freezing cold shower.
“So, you and Calum, huh?” Michael finally spoke up. He didn’t want to pry, having just met the shy girl, but the scene he just walked in on had him curious and wondering just what the hell was going on between his best friend and Elena.
“What? No.” Elena shook her head nervously. “There’s- there’s no me and Calum. Definitely not. No.”
“You sure about that? You looked pretty cozy.”
“I’m positive.” Elena swallowed the nervous lump in her throat and watched as Michael continued to stare at her in thought. Finally, he let out a sigh and nodded his head, mumbling a quiet ‘if you say so’, before exiting the kitchen to return to his friends in the pool.
Elena let out the sigh she was holding in and closed her eyes, shaking her head, trying to forget how good Calum smelled and how close she was to kissing him. Looking out the window, Elena caught sight of Calum leaned back on the lawn chair, beer in hand, and wide smile on his face. As if he could feel her gaze on him, he slowly looked over, locking eyes with her, offering the most panty dropping smirk. Living with him was definitely going to be more challenging than she thought.

Elena was happily content on her couch, alone in the house for the first time in a while, with reruns of her one of her favorite shows playing on the TV in front of her. Sprawled out on the couch, shoving popcorn in her mouth; Elena’s mind was finally off of Calum. Seeing him and being around him in the same house everyday, it seemed that he was all she could think about. He was clogging her senses and she desperately needed a night away from him.
So, when Mali suggested the three of them get dinner and go out for a few drinks afterwards, Elena politely declined, telling her best friend that she wasn’t up for going out, so they made it a sibling night. Elena couldn’t be happier. Normally, Elena did suffer from FOMO when her friends went out without her, whether it be she had to work on something her boss assigned her or she didn’t feel like going out, in that moment she felt the complete opposite.
Just around midnight, Elena heard the front door open and shut quietly and Calum putting his keys in the glass bowl on the table beside the door, and the sound of him taking his shoes off and hanging his jacket up on the coat rack. She didn’t bother pausing the show, figuring that Calum would just acknowledge quietly her and then head straight upstairs, but was proved wrong as he lingered in the living room.
“How was dinner?” Elena’s voice, quiet and hoarse from not speaking all night, brought Calum’s attention from his phone to her, and the corners of his lips turned up at the sight of her. Looking as cozy as ever in a sweatshirt that he was sure was his and shorts, hair up and out of her makeup free face.
“It was good.” Calum pursed his lips and pointed to the article of clothing she had on. “That my sweatshirt?”
Elena looked down and furrowed her eyebrows. “Oh, uh, it- it might be? It was in my laundry.” She then realized that she had indeed seen Calum wearing it a few weeks ago. She wasn’t sure how it ended up in her laundry and not his, but she was a bit embarrassed about wearing it and not noticing it was his. “I-I’m sorry. Do you want it back?”
She reached for the end to take it off, since she had a shirt on under it, but Calum shook his head and waved her off. “Nah. Looks better on you.” The boyish grin graced his face and Elena blushed with a shy smile. She could tell he was a bit tipsy by the lazy smile on his face and his droopy eyes and how talkative he was being. Ever since their encounter in the kitchen, they hadn’t spoken many words to each other. “Whatcha watchin’?”
Elena folded her extended legs when she realized that Calum had started making his way over to the couch, and she was taking up all of the space. Even though it was her couch, he did live with her now, and she didn’t want to hog it. “Mad Men.”
Calum got comfortable on the couch and hummed in thought. “Never seen it.”
“What?” Elena exclaimed loudly, surprising Calum and embarrassing herself with her sudden outburst. “It’s, like, my favorite show ever. I’ve rewatched it at least three times!” Elena, still excited, quieted and settled down, and cleared her throat. “We can, uh, I can start it from the beginning if you want?”
“You sure?” Calum thought it was sweet, and a little bit nerdy, that she was so excited about a television show, and about wanting him to watch it. “I don’t want to interrupt your you time.”
“I don’t mind.” Elena shook her head with a sweet smile on her face and Calum found himself giving in, nodding his head and smiling as he watched her go back to the homepage of Netflix to find the first season.
“You can stretch out your legs again, if you want.”
They both knew that if she extended her legs out all the way, that they would end up in Calum’s lap, but he didn’t mind and Elena found herself surprisingly comfortable with resting her legs and feet in Calum’s lap. Calum’s hands absentmindedly rested on Elena’s shins, his thumb grazing the exposed skin as he engulfed himself into the show that Elena was so excited about him watching.
While Calum watched intently, reading the subtitles that Elena had put on were saying, Elena could focus on quite literally nothing else but Calum’s thumbs tracing and rubbing her skin absentmindedly. She tried to focus on the show, but since she had already seen the first season a million times, she didn’t need to pay attention to it, already knowing what happened, so the only thing her mind could focus on was the way Calum’s fingers felt on her skin. They left a fire in their wake, but it was oddly comforting to Elena.
Calum, on the other hand, was so entranced by the show that he didn’t notice Elena’s body completely relax and melt into the couch. After three episodes, Calum looked over at an oddly quiet Elena, and smiled fondly at the image of her completely asleep. She looked so peaceful, the most at ease Calum had ever seen her, that he didn’t stop the motions on her skin and didn’t get up to carry her to bed.
They fell asleep like that; Calum’s hands securely on her legs that were in his lap, Elena stretched out fully, and Calum, not so comfortably, resting on the couch. Calum knew that he could definitely get used to that, even if wasn’t the most ideal sleep position, if Elena was content, then so was he.

“Anybody home?” Mali called out, slamming the front door to Elena and Calum’s house shut. Her heels clicked against the floor as she walked around the house, checking each room to find either her brother or best friend.
Her face lit up when she found both of them, plus Michael, sitting on the patio in the backyard with beers in front of them and music playing through the speaker that Calum didn’t go anywhere without.
“Mali-Koa!” Michael waved at her happily, a huge grin on his face as she neared the table. Calum and Elena looked behind them, since they were both sitting with their backs towards her, and greeted her with smiles and happy hellos.
“Hi, loves!” Mali plopped down on the chair next to Elena and rested her feet on her lap, sighing happily as she no longer was walking on her heel clad feet. “What are we up to today?”
“What we do best,” Calum held up his half empty beer and pointed it in Mali’s direction for her to drink the rest of. She did so happily, chugging it down and craving another instantly after her long day of work. “What brings you by, sis?”
“Just wanted to see my favorite people.” Mali grinned and patted Elena’s leg. “Oh, and Michael, I guess.” Michael rolled his eyes, but laughed along with everyone else since he knew she was joking.
Michael had known Mali for just as long as he knew Calum and he thought of her like a sister, like he thought of Calum like a brother. They were close and would often text each other throughout the week just to see how each other were doing. Their relationship was one similar to Calum and Mali’s, or Elena and Mali’s.
“But actually,” Mali started up again. “I need some drinks and the bar is calling my name. Who’s joining me?”
Everyone agreed to go along with Mali, but before they could go directly to the bar, Elena insisted she touch up her makeup and change out of her sloppy clothes she had been wearing all day to something cuter, more bar appropriate. The four of them met outside at Mali’s car, her getting into the driver’s seat, Elena in the passenger, and Calum and Michael in the back.
The bar was dead, considering it was a Tuesday evening, and the group was happy that it wasn’t overly packed. A chill, empty bar is just what all of them wanted. After ordering a round of drinks, Mali dragged Elena to the pool tables and the two of them got lost in trying to beat and out play one another, while Michael and Calum sat at the bar and caught up.
“What’s up with you and Elena?” Michael finally asked the question that was in the back of his head since he walked in on them not-so-subtly almost kissing in the kitchen.
“What do you mean?” Calum wiped the foam from his beer off his upper lip and quirked an eyebrow at his best friend. “There’s nothin’ going on between us, Mike.” Calum told him. And it was the truth. Sure, there were some lingering touches here and there and longing stares when the other wasn’t looking, but as far as anything happening between them? It was nothing.
Michael snorted, clearly not believing Calum’s words. “I walked in on you guys almost kissing, I’ve caught both of you, on multiple occasions tonight, staring at each other when the other wasn’t looking,” Michael went on, listing them off on his fingers. “Clearly, there’s something there, Cal.”
“I mean, yeah, she’s hot and everything, but that’s it.”
Michael stared at him knowingly. He was lying and Michael knew it. “You like her.” Calum avoided all eye contact and drank his beer, trying to act like Michael’s words didn’t affect him. “Why don’t you just make a move on her already? I could cut the sexual tension with a knife.”
“Just make a move? What do you mean just make a move? She’s Mali’s best friend, dude. I can’t just make a move.”
“Why not?”
“Because, well, what if I did and she rejects me? Then it’ll be weird living with her and it’ll be weird with Mali and it just-” Calum ran a frustrated hand through his hair, tugging at the ends as he shook his head in annoyance. “It’d just be weird.”
“I can guarantee you that she will not reject you, Cal.”
“Oh yeah?” Calum scoffed. “How so?”
“Because she’s been undressing you with her eyes all night.” Michael told him before sliding off the bar stool and joining the two girls they were just talking about at the pool tables. Calum’s eyes followed Michael, landing on Elena who’s eyes, just like Michael had factually told him, were only on him.
They stood and sat in place, staring and paying attention to nothing but each other, and Calum cursed under his breath. Michael’s question rang through Calum’s head; why didn’t he just make a move already?
Elena finally looked away when she heard Mali calling her name, telling her it was her turn to shoot in pool, and Calum watched her. Weighing the pros and cons of potentially hooking up with his roommate and his sister’s best friend, he was interrupted by the bar door swinging open and the familiar voices of his friends hollering.
“Elena!” Luke grinned happily at her, slinging his arm over her shoulder as Mali took her turn to shoot in pool, and Calum’s jaw clenched as he watched Luke touching and standing so closely to Elena, clearly and openly flirting with her.
Luke had voiced his attraction to Elena many times since he met her and Calum tried not to be a dick about it, since he really had no reason to be, and he tried to play it off, but it was harder than he thought it would be. He was overly attracted to her and was a bit scared that Luke had a better chance with her than he did.
Elena didn’t seem as interested in Luke as he was in her, obviously, and even though Calum could see it in her face and mannerisms, he couldn’t stand to watch it. Standing up, Calum made his way to the bathroom, his eyes locking with Elena’s as he passed her.
Elena bit her lip in thought, politely excusing herself from Luke and from the rest of the group since she had lost against Mali in pool, and carelessly shouldered through the few people that were in her way. She wasn’t sure what had come over her, but all she could think about was getting to Calum.
She didn’t bother knocking, just walked right in, clearly startling Calum in the process and walked into the one person bathroom, shutting and locking the door behind her. Their eyes locked in the reflection of the mirror and Calum slowly turned again, crossing his arms across his chest and leaning against the sink. “Elena,” Calum looked her up and down, taking in her outfit that consisted of a pair of tight jeans and a tight shirt that showed off her curves. “What’re you doin’ in here?”
Elena took a few steps closer to him, already being in his personal space since the bathroom was so small, and inhaled nervously. “I think you know why I’m in here, Calum.” Another step closer, her heeled boots clicking against the tile floor. She had never been so bold before, never so confident. She had never pursued a man before, always letting them go to her. “You told me to show you I’m not as shy as you think I am.”
Calum didn’t make any moves as she wrapped her arms around his neck and without another thought, without even thinking about chickening out, she pressed her lips against his. Finally, Calum’s hands were on her waist, gripping them and spinning her around so she was against the sink now. Elena hopped up on her own, like she was reading Calum’s mind and spread her legs for him to step in between them.
Their lips moved feverishly together, tongues battling for dominance, Calum’s winning easily and Elena let out a moan in his mouth. He nipped at her lower lip before letting his mouth trail down her jawline and neck, his mouth hot against her skin.
Just as Calum’s hands slipped up her shirt, there was a loud pounding at the door, breaking them apart from each other. “Hurry the fuck up!” A voice neither of them knew yelled over the music.
Elena panted, Calum too, as they stared at each other with lust clouding their vision. Elena opened her mouth to speak, to suggest going home to finish what they had started, but Calum backed away before she could. “Should probably get back out there before they notice we’re missin’.”
With that, Calum left the bathroom, leaving Elena breathless and confused, and still on the sink. Well, that’s not what she had expected him to say.

Achoo, achoo, achoo. Each one sounded closer to Calum as he stood in the kitchen eating his late lunch. It was three in the afternoon and he had been awake since around ten and still hadn’t seen Elena. She hadn’t left her room, from what Calum could tell, and he was close to checking on her to make sure she was okay.
Groaning, Elena turned the corner and into the kitchen, sniffing and rubbing the tip of her red nose. Calum raised his eyebrows at his clearly sick roommate and frowned. “You okay?” He asked.
Elena looked up, startled, like she hadn’t noticed Calum was in the kitchen with her. She closed her eyes tiredly and shook her head. “I think I’m sick.”
Calum set his fork down onto the plate and stalked over to her, pressing the back of his hand to her forehead. She definitely had a high fever. “Jesus, Elena. You’re burnin’ up.”
Elena hadn’t been able to sleep the prior night due to her stuffy nose and sore throat, so, waking up at three in the afternoon made sense. She knew that she got sick from one of her coworkers a few days before, the one day she decided to go into the office to run something by her boss, she ran into a girl she had been working with for a few months, coughing and sneezing all over the place.
“Have you taken any medicine?” Calum questioned worriedly. Sure, she only had a cold and a fever, but he still wanted her to feel better. Shaking her head groggily, Elena informed him that she hadn’t bought any in a few months. She wasn’t prone to getting sick. “Alright,” Calum grabbed his keys from the counter and checked his pocket for his wallet. “Go and lay on the couch and I’ll go out and buy you some medicine and soup, yeah?”
“I can go.” Elena offered, trying to take Calum’s keys from his hand and he scoffed.
“You’re practically asleep, Elena.” Calum put his hands on her shoulders and spun her around, walking her to the couch. He lightly pushed her down and she obliged, her butt hitting the cushion with a huff. “I’ll be back in twenty.”
Elena rolled over, her head resting on the middle cushion and her knees to her chest, laying in the fetal position, as she hummed a quiet and barely audible goodbye.
True to his word, Calum was walking back inside with three different kinds of medicine and different soup options since he wasn’t sure what Elena preferred. “Hey,” Elena forced her eyes open to see Calum sitting on the coffee table across from her. He had set all the medicine on the table next to him and held up the different soups. “Which one?”
Without speaking, Elena pointed to the one in Calum’s left hand and sniffled. Calum got right to cooking, filling a pot with water and letting it boil before he poured the soup in it. It only took a few minutes, but to Elena, it felt like forever.
She had taken DayQuil as opposed to NyQuil since she was already half asleep, and popped a cough drop in her mouth. Calum came back into the living room shortly after with the bowl of soup in one hand and a mug of tea in the other. Elena forced herself to sit up, huffing and groaning, as she took the soup from Calum. “Be careful it’s hot.”
“Mmm,” Elena hummed in delight as she took the first bite, it nearly burning her tongue off but feeling amazing down her sore throat. “Thank you, Cal. You’re an angel.”
Calum grinned widely, never having heard her call him by the nickname his close friends called him, and almost found himself blushing when she called him an angel. He took a seat on the other end of the couch to give Elena space and, mostly, so she wouldn’t breath her sickness on him.
After eating her soup and drinking some of her tea, fatigue took over Elena’s body and she was falling back onto the couch, her head landing on Calum’s lap in the process. “Will you play with my hair?” Elena asked, her voice muffled by her arm that was covering her face, sounding like a little girl. “Always makes me feel better.”
Calum did so, with no hesitation or reluctance, and laughed quietly when Elena let out a happy sigh, the first he had heard from her all day. He felt her melt into him, her hand now resting on his thigh, and Calum knew she was close to asleep.
Weirdly, Calum wasn’t bothered by her sickness or how needy and helpless she was. In fact, Calum found himself enjoying being able to help her feel better. He could’ve done it a hundred times over.
***
“Fun night last night?” Calum cocked an eyebrow at a very hungover Elena who looked like a train wreck.
“Oh, God.” Elena hid her red blush covered face in her hands. “You heard it?”
“Well, not so much you, but I heard him.”
Elena, after finally getting rid of her cold, went out with Mali and the rest of their friends, and ended up very intoxicated, stumbling inside her house with a random guy she met at the bar. Obviously, they slept together, and Elena tried to be quiet about it.
“I was trying to be courteous.” Elena mumbled into the cup she was holding that was filled with a premixed cocktail. Truth was, if the sex had even been slightly enjoyable, Calum would have been able to hear her moans with them sharing a wall and all, but, the sex sucked, so Elena had no reason to be vocal. She didn’t even pretend it was good.
“That right?” Calum cocked a challenging eyebrow. He knew for a fact that a drunk Elena, or a drunk any girl, would have made at least some noise while getting laid drunkenly. But he hadn’t heard a peep come out of her mouth last night. “Or you just didn’t enjoy it.”
Elena nearly choked on her drink that was in her mouth, but quickly swallowed it and shook her head frantically. “I- what? Why wouldn’t- why wouldn’t have I enjoyed it?”
“If the sex was even remotely good all courteousness would’ve been out the window, Elena.” Calum inched closer to her, invading all of her personal space, and reached out to trail his finger up her bare arm. She shivered at his touch. “He didn’t make you cum, did he?”
Elena swore her eyes almost popped out of her head. She hadn’t talked about her sex life with anybody but Mali, really, definitely not her guy friends. And definitely not Calum. She was flustered, her body covered in heat from the blush that arose, and Calum couldn’t help but smirk.
“I’m not having this conversation with you.” Elena wanted to walk away from him so badly, but it seemed she was stuck in place.
“Just answer me and I’ll drop it; did he make you cum?”
Elena gulped and no matter how much she didn’t want to admit it to Calum, she more so wanted the conversation to be over. So, she told him, “No. He didn’t.” Elena shook her head. “Are you happy now?”
“Now why would I be happy about that?” Calum’s hands were now grazing against her bare thighs due to dress she had on, and they inched dangerously close to where she wanted him the most. Calum leaned in closer, his mouth barely brushing against her ear, as he spoke, “I bet I could make you cum with just my fingers.”
Elena was breathless, speechless, as Calum’s pointer and middle finger reached her clothed core, rubbing agonizing slow against her clit. Mouth agape and eyes squeezed shut as his fingers worked her. But, before they could get any further, a knock at the door interrupted them.
Calum pulled away, a permanent smirk on his face, and hummed. “Our friends are here,” Calum looked at the door behind him. “Wouldn’t wanna get them waiting, would we?”
With that, Calum walked away with the utmost confidence and went to answer the door. Elena leaned back against the counter, her hands gripping the edge of it so hard that her knuckles turned white. Elena was so lost and caught up in Calum so close to her, touching her where she craved him the most, that she had forgotten that they were expecting company for the little get together they planned to have.
She was flustered and hot and bothered and totally and completely did not have her shit together. As she heard the familiar voices of her and Calum’s friends mixed together, Elena stared up at the ceiling and took a few deep breaths. She had to get herself under control, but with Calum around and near, she knew she wouldn’t be able to.
***
Their eyes met and locked all night long. As they mingled and consumed their drinks, their eyes would somehow, always, find one another. It was like they were challenging each other to see who would cave first, who would make the first move. Neither of them would budge.
“You look great tonight.” Aaron, one of Elena and Mali’s friend complimented her as he opened another beer. Elena was outside on the patio, coolers surrounded her with guests beer, since it was BYOB, and Calum and Elena didn’t want to provide alcohol for everyone in their house.
“Thanks, Aaron.” Elena smiled gracefully and moved her hair behind her shoulder. They found themselves lost in conversation and Elena could feel Calum’s eyes on her the whole time from across the yard. He was smoking a cigarette and chatting with some of his friends.
When Aaron’s hand found Elena’s hip to pull her closer, that’s when Calum excused himself from his conversation, put his cigarette out, and stalled over to them. “Hey, Elena,” Calum interrupted, gripping her elbow with his hand and tugged her towards him. She stumbled slightly and gave Aaron and apologetic smile. “Can we talk? In private?”
Calum didn’t give Elena the chance to object or say goodbye to Aaron as Calum dragged her through the house and up the stairs. Once they reached Elena’s room she opened her mouth to speak. “Calum, what the hell-“
Calum shut her up by pushing her against her bedroom door, slamming it shut in the process, and pressed his lips against hers in a heated, overdue, kiss. Their lips worked together feverishly and Calum only pulled away to attach his lips to her jaw and neck. He dropped to his knees, hiking one of Elena’s legs on his shoulder to gain better access to the place he had been thinking about all night
Pushing her thong to the side, Calum attached his lips to her clit and sucked, flicked, and licked his tongue. Calum slipped one finger in at a time and Elena threw her head back, ignoring the dull ache from slamming it against the wooden door.
“Oh, fuck.” Elena moaned loudly, thankful for the music that was playing downstairs and tangled her fingers in Calum’s long hair.
Calum said that his fingers could make her cum, but it was his tongue and mouth that did most of the work that made her come undone embarrassingly easily and quickly.
Calum moved her thong back in place and Elena slumped against the door, leaning on it for support once Calum placed her foot back on the floor and stood up. He connected their lips once more and Elena deepened it, letting her hand trail down his stomach to palm him over his pants.
Calum caught her wrist in his grip and pulled away reluctantly. He wanted her so badly, more than he wanted anyone else, but it wasn’t the time for that. “What’s wrong?” Elena breathed against his lips. “Want you, Cal.”
“I want you, too, God you’ve no idea how bad I want you, but not right now. Not like this.” Calum shook his head and took a step back. “Not when there’s a houseful of people right below us.”
Calum placed one last gentle kiss on Elena’s lips and smiled down at her, tucking her hair behind her ears. “Yeah, okay, you’re right.” Elena nodded her head and let Calum pull her back downstairs with him.
All night, just like earlier in the night, their eyes would meet and Calum would wink and smirk, and Elena would blush. God, Calum was going to be the death of her.
***
It had been days since that night and Calum and Elena hadn’t seen much of each other. Calum had picked up extra shifts at the bar he had gotten a job at and Elena was running around doing errands and hanging out with Mali. It was weird, hanging out with Mali, when just days ago her brother was giving Elena the most pleasure she’s had in a while, but while the two of them were together, Elena tried her hardest not to think of how her best friends brother had gone down on her.
It was half past one in the morning when the front door slammed shut and Calum came trudging inside of the house. Elena was still up, having slept until the middle of the afternoon that same day, eating a bowl of ice cream as she scrolled through her phone mindlessly.
“Hey,” Elena greeted Calum, looking up from her phone to offer him a smile and he simply nodded his head at her, grabbed a beer from the fridge, and headed upstairs. Elena huffed in annoyance and followed him to his room, completely forgetting about her half eaten ice cream. “What is your problem?” Elena finally asked Calum after days of him avoiding her.
Calum turned around, shirtless in only his jeans now, and furrowed his eyebrows at Elena, who was standing in the doorway with her arms crossed. She looked pissed and annoyed and Calum hadn’t ever seen her look like that. “What are you talkin’ about?”
“You know damn well what I’m talking about, Calum.”
“You’re gonna have to elaborate, Elena.”
“Oh my God, seriously? You’re so annoying!” Elena scoffed and took a few steps inside of his room, that she had only ever been completely inside of once. “Ever since you had your head between my legs and devoured me like a fucking feast you’ve been avoiding me like the Goddamn plague!”
Calum nearly laughed at the words that left Elena’s mouth, never having heard her speak so foully and confidently, but the matter wasn’t funny, Calum knew that.
“Jesus, if I had known you would have started acting weird I would’ve have let that happen.”
Calum stopped his actions, leaving his belt undone but still on, and looked at her annoyed expression. He hadn’t expected her to react the way she was. “What are you saying?” Calum challenged. “You regret it?”
“What? No. That’s- that’s not what I said.” Elena shook her head in exasperation and confusion. She wasn’t even sure what she was trying to say. She wasn’t expecting to have this conversation at nearly two in the morning, but she was fed up with Calum’s immaturity.
“Then what, Elena? What the hell are you trying to say?”
“I’m saying that you’re a grown man acting like a fucking teenager! If you regret it, then that’s fine, just stop acting like a child.”
Elena waited for Calum to respond, to say anything, and when he didn’t, she scoffed and turned to leave his room, but before she could get any further, Calum was gripping her arm and stopping her. With their body’s flush together, Elena’s lips captured in Calum’s in a heated kiss, she knew that he didn’t regret it.
***
Elena groaned into the pillow as she was woken up by Calum shuffling around the room and shortly after opening the curtains that were covering the window, letting the sun shine through his room. She rolled over so her bare back was facing the window and covered her eyes with the duvet.
Elena heard Calum laughing and let out a tired sigh. “What time is it?” She mumbled into the pillow.
“Just a little after ten.” Calum told her and, once again, she groaned tiredly and grumpily. She definitely was not a morning person even though Calum was. “Get up, sleepy head.”
Calum moved his duvet out of her face and smiled at the sight of her; comfy and cozied up in his bed, nude from the night before. He couldn’t believe it had actually happened, but he didn’t regret it.
Rolling over so she was on her back, Elena rubbed her eyes and let a yawn rip through her body. “This is the earliest I’ve been awake in months.”
“You gotta seize the day, baby.” Calum chuckled and pressed a chaste kiss to her lips, not caring that neither of them had brushed their teeth yet. “I invited the guys and Mali over for a pool day, so get up and get ready, yeah?”
Elena propped herself up on her elbow and closed her eyes. Mali. Shit. How was she supposed to act normal around her after having sex with her brother just the night before. “Fuck,” Elena cursed under her breath, although Calum heard.
“What?”
“Mali. Shit.”
“What about her, Elena?” Calum questioned.
“How am I supposed to be normal around her now without being weird? Oh God, I just had sex with my best friends brother. Oh God.”
Calum pursed his lips and nodded his head disappointedly. “Is that all I am to you? All this is?” He laughed sadly as he gestured between the two of them. “Your best friends brother?”
“What? No.” Elena shook her head and sat up properly, hugging the blanket to her bare chest. “That’s- that’s not what I meant, Calum.”
At the sound of the doorbell ringing, Calum shoved his swim trunks up his legs and grabbed the towel that was hanging on his door knob. “Right. Well, they’re here, so you should probably get dressed.”
Leaving his bedroom, Calum slammed the door behind him and Elena huffed, falling back onto his bed. Running her hands down her face, she shook her head at herself.
What had she gotten herself into?
***
Elena decided against joining Calum, Mali, and the guys for their pool day, opting to stay in bed and wallow in self pity, it seems like that’s what she did best. She was sure if she was around Mali she would start acting weird and if Mali asked her what was wrong, she would know instantly if she was lying. Calum was pissed at her, too, so she didn’t think joining their small pool party was the best idea.
Hours later, Calum was coming back inside after Mali and his friends left and hopped in the shower, washing the sun, sweat, and chlorine off of his body. He decided against drinking while everybody else did, so he wouldn’t be tired and even more drained from his long day.
After getting himself dressed in only a pair of sweatpants, he lingered outside of Elena’s bedroom door. It was shut and he could hear her TV from outside the door and he hesitantly hit his knuckles against the wood. “Come in.” Elena’s voice was muffled by the door and the TV and Calum slowly opened the door to see Elena under her blankets, only her head showing, with her eyes on the TV.
“Uh, hey.” Calum walked in, shut the door behind him, and stood at the foot of her bed.
“Hi.” Elena’s voice was quiet and nervous, almost, just like she acted when she first met him. Calum sat down on the side of the bed Elena was on and huffed, leaning his elbows on his knees as he turned his head to look at her. He stayed quiet and Elena gwaned on her lower lip. “I-I’m sorry about earlier.” Elena finally broke the silence.
“‘S fine.” Calum shrugged.
“I just- Mali is my best friend and she’s always come first, you know? So my first reaction was to think about her and what- what she would think and say about it.” Elena stumbled over her words and Calum’s hardened features softened.
“I get it.” Calum took her hand in his and rubbed the skin on it lightly. “I just like you, is all, and hearin’ you say that I’m just your best friends brother caught me off guard because I thought you liked me, too.”
“I do!” Elena exclaimed wildly as she sat up and let the blanket fall down her, now clothed, body. “I do like you, Calum. I’m just scared she’s going to be mad at me and I’m gonna lose her as a friend.”
“Mali is reasonable, El. She’s understanding and she doesn’t get mad easily,” Calum reminded Elena. Elena knew that already, it was common knowledge to know that if you were close with Mali, but she was still scared. “If you explain it to her, I’m sure she’ll get it.”
Elena sighed heavily and licked her lips. “You’re right.” Elena admitted and, finally, Calum smiled at her.
“I want to tell her, but if you don’t want to yet, that’s okay.”
“I’ll tell her soon, okay?” Elena assured him. “But can we just- can we stop talking about this right now?” Calum nodded his head and kissed the top of her hand. “Do you want to cuddle and watch movies with me the rest of the day?”
“Wouldn’t wanna do anything else,” Calum laughed and crawled into Elena’s bed with her, wrapping his arms around her middle and pulling her back into his chest. He placed light, feather like, kisses on the side and back of her neck as her body melted into his.
Calum didn’t know what to expect when he moved in with Elena, but it sure as hell wasn’t him falling for his sister’s best friend.
***
Elena twisted the ring on her finger as she waited for Mali to arrive at the restaurant they agreed to meet at. Elena had been avoiding and ignoring Mali for a solid week straight, trying to get her thoughts in order, and trying to figure out what she was going to say to her best friend.
She felt bad for ignoring Mali and blowing her off every time she asked to go out or just hang out at either one of their houses, she just didn’t know what to say to her. Elena, for once, was at a loss for words when it came to Mali.
“I never thought I was going to see you again,” Mali joked as she took the seat across from Elena, her grin falling as she noticed how nervous Elena looked. Mali knew Elena well enough to know that without her saying anything she knew something was wrong. “What’s going on? Why are you acting weird?”
“I-I have to tell you something.” Elena spoke nervously.
“Okay?” Mali furrowed her eyebrows, dragging out all of the letters in the word, gesturing for Elena to continue speaking. She stayed quiet, gnawing on her lower lip, and Mali was getting progressively more worried. “You’re freaking me out, Elena.”
“Okay, I- you might hate me but-“
“I could never hate you.” Mali interrupted to reassure her best friend.
“Calum and I, we-we kind of, hooked up?”
“And what? He got you pregnant?”
Elena shook her head rapidly. “What? No. No- we just- we had sex. And, well, I think we might be a thing now?”
“And that’s all?”
“Um, yeah?” Elena laughed nervously.
“That’s what you were freaking out? That’s why you were avoiding me?”
“I- yeah. Wait, you’re not mad?” Elena was thoroughly confused. She thought for sure that Mali was going to be pissed at her, shun her, and never speak to her again.
“Why would I be mad, Elena?” Mali laughed and shook her head at her over dramatic and paranoid best friend.
Mali couldn’t have cared less that her brother and her best friend had slept together. Honestly, if anything, she was glad it was each other that they were sleeping with.
“I-I don’t know because you’re my best friend and Calum is your brother? And I had sex with him?”
“Honestly,” Mali took a bite of the garlic bread that their server had given them, and wiped her hands on the napkin on her lap. “I’m surprised it didn’t happen sooner.”
“Wait, what?” Elena laughed incredulously. “You knew this was going to happen?”
“Well, obviously I didn’t know, but I had a feeling.” Mali shrugged with a sly smirk on her face. Elena still looked confused and a little bit nervous, so reaching across the table, Mali rested her hand on top of Elena’s. “Babe, I’m not mad at you, okay? I’m happy that you two are getting together. You’re two of my favorite people and I know that I already like you for Calum, obviously, and I approve of him for you.”
Elena finally smiled and let out the breath she had been holding in since she revealed the news to Mali. A grin overtook her face and she laughed, finally feeling all of the nervousness subside, and finally, enjoyed a nice meal with her best friend, with nothing to hide.
***
Elena sighed sadly at the half empty glass of wine in front of her on the dining room table. It was her birthday, and all of her friends were, unfortunately, busy. Mali insisted she would cancel her plans with Marco to spend time with Elena, but Elena simply nodded her head, letting her know that it really wasn’t that big of a deal.
Calum had an earlier shift at the bar, letting Elena know that he would be home at around ten, although Elena hadn’t even told him it was her birthday. She didn’t want him to miss work just because of her, and they technically weren’t even completely official yet, so she didn’t want him to do ditch work to celebrate with her.
The door shut and Elena checked the time, seeing it was only nine-thirty, and furrowed her eyebrows. Calum wasn’t supposed to be home for another half an hour, so when he appeared in the kitchen, the corners of her lips turned up.
“Hey, love.” Calum greeted her with a tired, drained smile. He noticed that her smile didn’t reach her eyes, and also didn’t miss the glass of wine on the table and the bottle next to him. He didn’t know her to drink alone, never had since he moved in with her, so he was concerned. “What’s wrong?”
Elena shook her head with a quiet laugh leaving her lips. “Well, it’s uh- it’s my birthday, and I have no pla-“
“What?” Calum exclaimed wildly, sliding into the chair next to her. “It’s your birthday and you didn’t even tell me?” He frowned, taking her ring clad hands in his own and squeezed them. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I didn’t want you to miss work and, really, it’s my twenty-third birthday, it’s nothing special.”
“Twenty-three or not, it’s your birthday, El.” Calum furrowed his eyebrows, a thought popping into his head, as he tugged on her hands and pulled him up with her. “C’mon, go get dressed. We’re goin’ out.”
“What?” Elena laughed in confusion. “Going out where?”
“Dancin’ and drinkin’!” Calum clapped his hands in excitement and Elena couldn’t help but smile as wide as he was. “I’m callin’ the guys and making them meet us, yeah? ‘M not letting you spend your birthday all sad and alone.”
Elena nodded her head, not being able to hide the smile on her face at Calum’s excitement and did as he told her; going upstairs to change out of her leggings and shirt into something more birthday presentable. She laughed as she heard Calum shout from downstairs to ‘look sexy, even though you already are!’ and changed into something that made her ‘look sexy’.
“My God,” Calum groaned at the sight of Elena in skintight black jeans, a red shirt that showed off her cleavage perfectly, and a pair of red boots to match her shirt. “How’d I get so lucky?”
His hands slid around her waist, clasping them together to pull her closer, and hers wrapped around his neck. Their lips connected, and Calum pecked them a few times before pulling away to grin at her. “Most beautiful birthday girl.”
Elena giggles, bowing her head to hide her blush, and shook her head bashfully. She reluctantly pulled away, her boots tapping against the wooden floor, and nodded her head towards the front door behind them. “We should go. We got dancing to do, right?”
“Yes, ma’am.” Calum grinned, placing one more kiss to her lips before guiding them to the door and out to his car. Elena wasn’t too upset about spending her birthday by her lonesome, but she was so glad that Calum was taking her out.
Pulling up the very crowded club, Elena’s nerves spiked and she nervously chewed on her lip as her and Calum waited in line to get in. Calum sensed her nerves and squeezed her hand. “Whenever you wanna leave, let me know, yeah?” Calum knew she wasn’t too big a fan of huge crowds and clubs, so he wanted to make sure she knew that if she wanted to leave, he was ready whenever she was.
“Just get some drinks in me and I’ll be good.” Elena assured him. Calum pecked her lips and their moment of cheesy PDA was interrupted by his rowdy friends approaching them in the line.
“Birthday girl!” Luke cheered happily, pulling her into a short and quick hug, letting Michael and Ashton take turns hugging her and wishing her a happy birthday. Luke, once Calum told him that he and Elena were kind of together, backed off of Elena and calmed down with the touching and comments. Calum was glad for that, knowing that if his best friend knew he liked Elena, he would back off.
“Drinks on us,” Ashton grinned.
“All night!” Michael added for good measure and Elena thanked them as they flashed the bouncer their IDs to get inside.
Drinks were being downed left and right and the dancing never stopped and Elena thought that even if she did hang out with her other friends, she definitely wouldn’t have been having as much fun as she was with Calum and his friends. Who, Elena now, considered her own.
Elena swayed back and forth slightly, leaning against Calum’s body for support as he smoked a cigarette, a permanent drunken grin on her face, and Calum looked down with his own grin. He was drunk, too, but not nearly as drunk as Elena. But he didn’t mind how drunk she was, it was her birthday, she deserved to celebrate it.
“You havin’ fun, birthday girl?” Calum smiled down at her.
“I’m having a blast. Thank you for taking me out tonight.” Elena admitted, hiccuping a few times, followed by a shiver. Calum shrugged his jacket off, and draped it over her shoulders. “Thanks, Cal.”
“Of course,” Calum kissed the top of her head. “Anything for you, baby.”
Elena rested her head on Calum’s bicep, a content and drunk sigh leaving her lips. And honestly, she couldn’t have imagined her birthday any other way.
***
“I’m bored.” Elena huffed as she slumped onto the couch next to Calum, laying her head in his lap. It was their lazy Sunday, and while they usually spent that day wrapped up in each other, watching movies, and pigging out, Elena wanted to do something different.
It was a particularly nice day out and the sun was to set within the next hour, and Calum agreed, after their third movie- he was bored, too.
“Wanna go for a drive?” He suggested, running his fingers through Elena’s hair. “We could just drive around and watch the sunset.”
“That sounds nice,” Elena hummed as Calum’s fingernails lightly scratched her scalp, and although she wanted to get up and do something, she also would have loved to lay there all night and fall asleep to the feeling of his hands in her hair.
“Don’t fall asleep on me,” Calum laughed and shifted, sitting up and bringing Elena with him. She huffed but rubbed her eyes and tried to wake herself up more. “Get your shoes on, I’ll meet you at the car, yeah?”
Elena hummed in response and he kissed her lightly before he pushed himself up from the couch. He had early all pairs of his shoes by the door, while Elena had carried hers upstairs just a few days before. So, after sliding her sandals on and hopping down the stairs, she finally reached Calum’s car and slid into the passenger seat.
They drove in a nice, comfortable, silence with only the radio playing, their hands intertwined as Calum drove down the highway. Elena wasn’t sure where he was headed, it seemed like he had a certain destination in mind, but Elena didn’t mind. She rested her head on the window, feeling Calum squeeze her hand ever so often, and listened to him hum along to the radio.
He had a lovely voice, Elena figured out after some time of him living with her. She would hear him sing quietly in the shower, around the house while he cleaned up or cooked lunch or dinner for them, and she loved it. At the beginning, Elena really didn’t think that Calum could have gotten any more attractive, but when she heard his voice for the first time, she realized she was wrong.
The car stopping and the music cutting off was what pulled Elena out of her thoughts about her boyfriend and she finally looked in front of her, eyes widening at the sight. They were on top of a hill, she was surprised she hadn’t noticed them driving upwards, with a perfect view of the city and the sun that was about to set.
“Pretty, right?” Calum laughed, gauging her surprised reaction. Elena nodded her head and Calum motioned his, letting go of her hand so they could both get out of the car. “C’mon.”
The pair sat on the hood of Calum’s car, his arm around Elena’s shoulder and her head resting on his chest, settled in silence and watched the sunset slowly. It was beautiful, Elena thought, but Calum thought that she was even more beautiful.
Looking down at her, he mumbled into her hair, “Can I tell you something?”
“Anything.” Elena assured him, lifting her head up as Calum slid off the hood, coming to stand in front of her in between her legs. His hands rested on her hips and he stared intently at her. “What’s up, Cal?” Elena laughed, almost nervously and anxiously like she had when they had first met.
“This is gonna sound crazy,” Calum warned her and she tilted her head to the side, now more curious than ever. Taking a deep breath, Calum spoke the words he had been thinking for days now. “I think I’m kind of in love with you, Elena.”
Calum knew it was crazy, knew that it was so soon, considering they had only known each other for a few months, but how could he not love her? Getting to know the side of her that wasn’t shy, that was smiley and giggly and so open, it drew him in instantly. Her smile and everything about her, how could he not fall in love with a girl like her?
Her eyes widened and she was stuck frozen from his words. Frozen and silent for a good minute, but felt like an eternity to Calum, and he was about to open his mouth, about to tell her to forget he said anything, when she finally broke out into a shit eating grin.
“That is kind of crazy,” Elena nodded her head in agreement. “But I think I’m kind of in love with you, too, Calum.”
And Elena, she knew it was crazy how short of time she fell for him, but how could she not? Past his cocky exterior, he was sweet and kind and so caring with the way he took care of her and made sure she was comfortable and okay at all times. It was impossible, for Elena, not to fall in love with him.
He kissed her, their teeth clashing together due to the smiles that wouldn’t leave their faces, and Calum wasn’t sure how, but he knew he had struck gold, and he knew, the only person he had to thank for it, was his sister.

CALM First Listen Impressions
I’ve been doing these since SGFG and imma keep doing it till the day i die!!
Red Desert - OOF harmonies okay I see you !! Intro is hella soulful don’t tell me I’m about to cry ALREADY guys… okay that bass in the bg is thicccc and I’m living for it OOF AND THEN THE CHORUS HITS AND THOSE DRUMS BITCH THIS SONG IS SO GOOD ON JUST THE FIRST LISTEN Y’ALL AHHHHH and then that TRANSITION from chorus to second verse my mans ashton did not disappoint !! Guys I’m really feeling this song holy shit it’s so good. Bitch this RED in the bridge is rly TEASING ME like bitch KEEP GOING!!!!!!!!!! Low key this song sounds like it’s 90% saying “red desert” over and over but I’m not complaining issa bop and a half !!! AHHH THAT ENDING AND THEY REALLY WENT TO A LOWER NOTE THAT WAS SO GOOD if that ain’t my fave song on the album i’ll be hella shook. Rating: 10/10 obviously
No Shame - I’ve liked this song since the very first time I heard it it’s actually such a bop. I can’t wait to drive around with this song blasting in my car. I LOVE when Luke says “Go on and plaAaAaAce me” it’s so pretty!!! Rating: 9/10 I just wish the bridge had something different I’m not a big fan of sos ALWAYS doing slowed down choruses for bridges and once you notice it it’s hard to stop lol
Old Me - I wasn’t a huge fan of this song the first time I heard it and genuinely didn’t think it’d grow on me AT ALL, but even after the second listen I really liked it, and I’ve really come to appreciate, like, the fan service message behind it? And that music video just made me love it more. The thing I didn’t like initially and still am not a huge fan of is how autotune-y the song sounds. I know everyone uses autotune, but imo it’s way too noticeable in the song to the point where it sounds a little unpleasant once you catch it. Rating: 8/10
Easier - Okay to be honest, I hate this song LMAO like one time I was crying in the shower while I was listening to my music on shuffle and this song came on and I literally stopped crying to change the song and then went back to crying daskjfkaljl Honestly the verses are really catchy and I like the prechorus but god I DETEST the chorus so fucking much it’s so fucking annoying and that’s low key like most of the song,,, I don’t even wanna finish the song but imma force myself to lmaooooo Rating: 3/10
Teeth - I love the bass at the beginning I’m such a slut for thicccc basses. I also like how crisp? Luke’s voice sound initially idk if that’s like a weird thing to say lol. I also hate the chorus here but not as much as Easier and the other parts of the song def make up for it. Rating: 6.5/10
Wildflower - This song was also like Old Me to me where I didn’t really love it at first but really liked it the second time. It’s definitely not gonna be a favorite of the album or a song I’m probs gonna remember forever but I bet it’s gonna be a BOP at concerts which is always appreciated. PLUS I love that Calum is singing he has a very unique voice I think. Also side note I justopened the livestream and it’s a hot mess lmaooo Ash rly fucking fucked up and needed to move it onto Cal lmaoo here I thought I was in sync with everyone smh. Rating: 7.5/10 with room to grow with more listens i’m assuming
Best Years - Anyways moving on from the livestream mess from these kids who don’t know technology,,, oof first impressions: sounds like same vibes as ghost of you?? I love the line “I’ll build a house out of the mess” or whatever. The part where he sings “best yeeaaarrs” is uhhh kinda weird? I thought that when Luke sang this on live but I thought it might sound better on the track but lmao nah I still think it sounds awkward tbh. But the verses are cute. Oof that instrumental was so long I legit stopped paying attention dafkdasjlk OOF OOF OOF THAT PART WHEN THE INSTRUMENTS KICKED IN okay I live for that. Song is kinda short so it gives me vibes of Lie To Me + Ghost Of You in terms of vibe (not lyrics). Rating: 6/10
Side note: I open the stream and they’re?? Just talking abt the album???? What happened to group listen lmaoo okay I guess gotta do everything in isolation around here smh
Not in the Same Way - woah okay start right away I guess !! “You say go I won’t leave” oof I don’t like that lyric cause a bitch has dealt with it and it’s terrible!! Omg when they said “NOT IN THE SAME WAY” in unison I legit live for the boys singing in unison okay OMG WE FUCK WE FIGHT AFDKAKLDJKL he really just gets more blatant every album w these swears huh fdskjkl OOF THAT DRUM BUILD UP SOUNDED SO GOOD Okay this is def a song to bop to live I can’t wait !! “I’m sick of sadness you’re sick of sadness” oof these lyrics bitch…. okay this song is kinda repetitive which is making me kinda tired BUT it’s not the worst thing and I like the parts that they’re repeating i guess LOL oh WOAH that “eh eh ehh” part is kinda interesting OMG IS THAT AN ORIGINAL BRIDGE/THIRD VERSE? From *MY* 5sos?????????? OKAY I SEE YOU,,, Okay the repetitiveness is kinda rly annoying now but it’s okay I still enjoy the song for now but can see myself maybe not listening to this song much later bc of it (Rating: 7/10)
Lover of Mine - Okay acoustic song of the album icu icu “Butterfly lies chase them away” interesting I like that  “dance around the living room” 👀 oof this pre-chorus is really good I’m such a slut for good prechoruses !! Luke’s voice sounds so soothing and smooth but the drums in the background in the second half are a little? Much? I don’t know maybe they’ll grow on me… I really like the lyrics of this song, I didn’t focus completely on everything but,, dare I say,,,, it might be some of their strongest writing yet??!? Omg I love love love these instrumentals near the end esp the piano sounds so beautiful and kind of reminded me of the interlude after San Francisco. Overall I think this song was honestly very beautiful. Rating: 8/10
Thin White Lies - more bass yessss it sounds so good,, are these lyrics about depression? Ehhh not feeling this chorus at all, too much going on and it’s just not a bop and that’s my only criteria for liking songs lmaoo. This song is giving me Empty Wallets + Babylon vibes kind of? Which isn’t rly my favorite vibe in songs tbh it’s just not for me, I don’t think it’s a bad song, though. “I don’t really like me anymore” :((((( mood Rating: 6/10
Lonely Heart - That one two three was so hot ngl,,, ANOTHER acoustic song?? Okay okay interesting. WOAH WHEN THEY CAME IN together god I love that and this OH OH OH part sooo catchy yesss okay also smth I’ve noticed 5sos doing a lot: quiet beginning (or quiet verses) and loud/bop-y choruses… that’s like half the album look me in the eyes and tell me I’m wrong !! It’s the equivalent of YB being mostly normal guitar verses and then instrumental pre-choruses lmao at least this I like a lot more WOAH THAT BRIDGE???????? WHO IS SINGING THAT IS THAT MICHAEL? I literally don’t recognize whose voice that is has it been that long since I heard his voice am I tripping?? But either way that was really cool. The song overall was pretty? Plain but not at all bad and it’ll definitely grow on me with more listens. Rating: 7/10
High - last song im so sad ahhh oof that sound it sounded like Michael? And it was umm very ear orgasmic lmao weird to put two songs that start like that one after the other tho but whatever. Woah the way Luke sang “highly” was so angelic !!! This is very acoustic-y too, but it seems like it’s truly mostly the same vibe throughout. Oof Calum’s harmonies sound so good. I also like the background “Ah”s this song sounds very angelic and pretty. I really like the way he sings the lyrics like “I hope you think of me high… think of me highly” and the part after that kind of mirrors that line. Not a huge fan of the lyric saying your friends just want you to yourself oof friends don’t like imma be honest that line was kinda cringy lmaoo But this song was very pretty, though honestly I doubt I’ll listen to it much or remember it just cause slow songs aren’t my cup of tea, but I can really appreciate the song for what it is and it was enjoyable to listen to. Rating: 8/10
Unrelated: I like that the album isn’t crazy long like every other album of theirs. I much prefer concentrating on 12 great songs than making 16-20 and then inevitably them hating/ignoring a few of them cause they’re like,, way worse than the rest of the album
Average rating: Okay technically 7.1/10 BUT if you take out Easier, then it’s a solid 7.5/10
I liked a lot of the songs and I’m sure I’ll like them even more with more listens, but the only ones I really LOVED were Red Desert and No Shame. It’s honestly a fantastic album, I just don’t think it fits my personal vibe. I’m very proud of the boys!! I really think it’s some of their best work. (Besides Easier,,, she can choke 💀💀)

Lashton headcanon #3
Luke’s not sure when it started
Somewhere between Ashton’s bored of his own clothes and Calum spilt cereal on Ashton’s suitcase probably
Luke didn’t mind borrowing Ashton some of his clothes
Mostly because Luke always over-packed aF
And Ashton in Luke’s clothes??
Luke is unsure if there was anything better than that
Ashton looks like a God
In Luke’s clothes it’s almost like it’s Luke’s God
Well, at least that’s what he wants to believe
The best thing tho is that Ashton seems to prefer Luke’s clothes
Luke’s not sure when he started wearing Ashton’s clothes that the other guys’
It was proved one day too
Calum offered Ashton his hoodie, but Ashton declined and took Luke’s instead
Luke may, or may not, have grinned the entire day because of that.
Ok. He definitely did.
Probably from the time Ashton was wearing Luke’s hoodie, which Luke was gonna wear mind you
“I’ll just take one of your shirts,” Luke had mumbled.
“Take this babe,” Ashton replied tossing something.
Luke straight out died from the nickname.
However, it seemed like Ashton hadn’t noticed his own slip-up
Ashton slipped up again, this time he noticed.
Calling Luke “honey” wasn’t exactly subtle, or bros being bros
Luke panicked.
He didn’t know what to do, so he replied with “Yeah babe.”
Not Luke’s brightest moment
But at least it made it look normal???
Until pet names turned normal
Which was a good thing
Expect Luke was dead
Imagine Ashton walking around in Luke’s clothes calling him “babe”
Luke was deceased.
But at least Luke gets to call Ashton sweetie
Which is fine and all until Calum and Michael question their relationship status.
“Are you and Ashton a thing?”
“No, we’re humans, duh.”
“Luke, you’re so dumb. Like dating.”
“No? Why would you ask?”
But Luke totally wants to date Ashton.
And fuck.
Luke will seriously be dead if Ashton dates anyone else who’s name isn’t Luke Hemmings
When did his crush turn into love??
He quickly realises he has to confess to Ashton
But how???
And what will even happen after?
To afraid of making thing awkward Luke oversees the fact Ashton is obviously in love with him too
Like Calum and Michael tries to tell him
So, when Luke finally confesses it isn’t super romantic or anything Luke imagined
It goes more like
“Hey Ash, I love you.”
“I love you too Luke, you’re a good friend.”
(Ashton’s too scared to interpret it differently.)
“I meant as in romantically.”
“Oh. Oh!”
“I love you too, Luke.”
“Romantically?”
“Yes, romantically.”
And maybe it’s a bit messy, the kiss certainly is, but Luke wouldn’t have it any other way

Ashton Irwin - Oh baby!
Word count . 2,028
Warnings . Lil angsty
Summary . After Ashton completely cuts you out of his life you find out your pregnant. Nine months later you have a run in at your favorite coffee shop
Tumblr media
You and ashton had dated roughly a year ago. The breakup was messy. Really messy, there was rumors of the both of you cheating long eachother and that you were sleeping with all the other members of the band. Small fights started everyday. Small fights turned into screaming matches and throwing things. It became toxic. So after the two of you broke up. And when you broke up everyone cut you out of there lives. They said it was for the better of both of you but you know its because they didn't want there to be any chance of you and Ash getting back together.
Two months after you and Ashton broke up you noticed you hadn't had a period in a while. You took like a million pregnancy tests, all positive. Every single one. When you tried to tell Ashton no one listened. Thought you were just trying to get him back. Of course you didn't tell them why you NEEDED to talk to him because you needed him and only him to know.
So here you were almost ten months later with a baby. He's only a few weeks old but he looks just like his dad. You named him Cash. A combination between His dad's name and your old best friend. You had kept in contact with Calum for a while, he said that someone in management found out and freaked at him. He kept talking for a while but slowly faded out.
It was hard being a single mom with a minimum wage job. After the breakup no one really paid attention to you. Paparazzi stopped spotting you about a month after the breakup. You deleted all your social media and now you have become a little hobbit. You had a few work friends and a woman from mommy and me that you had coffee with once in a while but that was it.
So here you were sitting outside of a coffee house drinking decaf coffee, because if you drank caffeinated Cash would be up all night.  Breastfeeding was hell sometimes. You were searching up daycares and daycare assistance when some familiar voices floated by. Ash. Youte head shot up. You watched as the boys walked by Ash was holding a woman's hand. She was beautiful. You stood up and grabbed the carseat dashing after them. You have no idea what you're doing but you were doing it.
"Ash!" Nothing. "Ashton!" The boys must have not recognized your voice because they turned around with smiles. That instantly turned to straight faces as they saw it was you. You got the the group and faced Ashton.
"I really need to talk to you," you say out of breath. He looks down at the carseat and there's an unreadable emotion on his face.
"Um. Yea. Guys give us a second," the two of you walk back to the coffee shop not saying anything. You realize you left your purse, laptop and diaper bag there carelessly. You shut your laptop and set the carseat back in the table.
"Well, hi," is all Ash says.
"I know you don't want to be here so I'll make it quick. I had a baby, yes he's yours. And as much as it sucks. being a single mom I'm not going to ask you to be in his life. I won't ask you for child support and I won't tell anyone that THE Ashton Irwin is a deadbeat dad. I just thought you should know that you have a kid. Of course I would love for him to have a dad and for you to be in his life but we will be perfectly fine without you," you had tears running down your cheeks. Those last few words were hard to squeak out.
He sighs.
"I'm not leaving you in the dust. I could never do that to you. Or our son," he looks into the carseat. Cash is awake but content. Hes not perfect but hes an easy baby. Only ever cries when he needs to be changed or fed. "Can I hold him?" You nod and stand up, getting him out of his carseat. You rest him on your shoulder holding him with your right hand while grabbing his blanket. You wrap the blanket around him and hand him over to his father. Ash's large hand make the baby in his arms look even smaller.
The boys and the girlfriends have made their way over. Some of them look at you with pity. Not Cal he's got his arms wrapped around you in seconds.
"Hey princess," he just holds on to you for a second. It's what you need right now. He separates from you and sits by his friend. He looks at your small bundle of joy for a moment. His fingers run across your sons head. "What's his name?"
You smile. Slightly embarrassed.
"It's Cash. Wanted to name him after his daddy and my best friend," they both remove their eyes from the small baby and instantly to you. Calum has a huge smile.
"I love it," Ash whispers. He looks back down at his son. "I love you," after a minute he hands the child to Calum and he heads over to the group.
"Why didn't you tell me?" He's now undistracted and confused.
"I tried. But you blocked me and no one would let me talk to you. Granted I didn't tell them why I needed to talk to you," you look over at your old best friend holding the love of your life.
"Was it hard?" You nodded.
"When I was pregnant, he really didn't like food. Any food really. I'd have to take a shit ton of vitamins. If I got cravings I was lucky. I ate a lot of cereal. That's really the only thing I could hold down," you grabbed the diaper bag and pulled some pictures out. They were from when he was first born. You always kept them on you, it was the best day of your life. "Labor was hell, the nurses really helped me through it. He was not wanting to breastfeed. I was in the hospital for a week before he would latch,"
He listened intently. He hated that he wasn't able to be there for the both of you. That he missed one of the most important stages of his son's life. Being born.
"He's a pretty easy kid tho," you laugh. "He's been sleeping almost through the night. Only waking up two or three times a night. He only really cried when he's ready to be changed or hungry. But that will probably change soon," You hear the soft cries of your baby and instantly stand up to see what he needs. Calum seems panic bringing the small bundle back to you. You can't help but laugh. You swiftly grab your son from his grasp and hold him to your body.
You feel his diaper and he's wet. Knowing this coffee shop doesn't have a changing table you pack him Into his carseat. You live in a small studio apartment less than a block away. It's about time for him to sleep and you like feeding him in the privacy of your home.
"I'm going to head home, he needs go ne changed and fed. Maybe even a nap. So I mean you can come with. You too Cal but my apartment is not nearly big enough for all of you. Ash nods. He relays the message to his friend. He hugs the woman I presume to be his girlfriend and him and Calum walk back to me. Michael waves and Luke has really been avoiding me the whole time so you weren't surprised when he just left without anything. You and Luke were close at one point, hell he was the one that introduced you and Ash.
The two of you fought before you left. He said that you needed to stay, saying that you were still part of the group and that it wasn't going to change, it didn't have to change. He said that if you left he wouldn't forgive you. That leaving them all behind was a selfish bitch move. He wouldn't talk to you again. So you weren't sure if he was guilty or sticking to his promise.
The three of you made it to your apartment. Cash still whining in the car seat but mild down because of the pacifier in his mouth. It only takes you a few minutes until you're punching the code into your building. The boys followed you up the three flights of stairs. Ash tries to carry the car seat but you do it everyday so it's no problem. You make it to your apartment and you quickly unlock the door and enter your small home. You gesture for them to sit on the couch (that turns into your bed). You make your way back into the sectioned off part of the living space where Cashes 'room' is. You quickly change him and make your way back to the boys.
You hand him to Ash and start to clean up a little.
"Wasn't really expecting company. Sorry," you throw some toys into a small plastic bin and fold up a few blankets.
"Y/n please. Leave it. Come sit and talk," Calum says. You sit on the other side of Ashton who is sitting in the middle of the fold out sofa.
"This is quite the place," Ash says letting his son hold onto his long fingers. He has them pulled to his mouth.
"Yeah, it's not much buy it'll be good for the two of us for a while, when he gets a little bigger he's gonna need his own room and space," Ash shakes his head.
"No, like I said I want to help. I want to be in his life. I know this is a big offer you could come stay with me. Please come stay with me. I want to be able to spend as much time with my little man as possible, don't answer yet. Let it sit for a few days? Please?" You don't give him a response because you're shocked. You just nod.
"So, I get god father rights right? You didn't pick someone else?" Calum speaks up a bit later breaking the slightly awkward silence.
"Of course Cal, as long as you stick around and change a few diapers definitely," you laugh. Cash suddenly begins to cry and Ashton tries to soothe him. You know what he's crying for and Ashton does not have the ... assets to give him what he needs.
You shake your head and motion for Ashton you bring him to your chest and remove the flap from the 'maternity clothes' and feed your child. Calum looks slightly uncomfortable and is distracting himself with his phone. Ashton watched his son eat and you weren't uncomfortable with it. One, you have become used to it, people watching you as you feed your son. And two, as bad as the relationship was in the end you loved him and he made you comfortable, always.
Cash made these cute little noises whenever he ate. He'd clench his fists until he was full and then he'd slowly release them. He only ate for a few minutes until he was content and pulled away. His little eyes opened and they were just the same as his fathers. You put yourself away and grabbed a burp rag from the coffee table and throw it over your shoulder. You bring your son up to your shoulder and begin to burp him. He gets fussy so you stand and walk him around the room.
"Can I help?" Asks Calum.
"Have you ever burped a baby?" He shook his head. You motion for him to come to you and show him how. It's not rocket science. "Bounce a little as you walk to," he nods and begins to walk him around the small apartment. Humming to him as he does so. You sit on the couch next to Ashton.
"So how are we going to do this?" He asks.

You posted the Spidermalum fic! so you get rambles 2 days in a row but I went overboard with this one: (1) I love that L is still the same whiny, aesthetic conscious boy. (2) Excuse you. Even secure straight men would find Cal cute bc he’s the cutest, squishiest boy. (3) I love that M being so gone on C is a req for all Malum fics bc yes, that is 100% M. And he really would go happily by being kissed to death (4) the social contract?! I- do you know what the actual social contract is? 😂 [1/3]
(5)M’s Ned and MJ combined isn’t he? (6) But also Malum using the project to annoy Lashton is consistent the to rl bc they’re all sh*theads toward each other (7) I’m even happier that we get the Muke side of all the caf convos bc mortified Luke!!! (8) “Bitching at Luke is up there among Michael’s favorite pastimes.” WE KNOW. (9) Luke worrying with a sense of upright justice was the funniest thing I read. You are brilliant with words!! [2/3]
10) I love remembering that A’s type is awkward gangly boys (11) the image of L judo-flipping A ended me (12) cal is the best guy isn’t he? Always patient and sweet. Can you tell i’m in his lane? (13) b-but we didn’t get the reveal of L’s identity? I still love everything about this though. Thank you so much for gifting us with your words. -🕷
luke’s main personality trait is Wants To Look Cute he cannot be held accountable for that
YES i know what the social contract is but sometimes there is a second, secret social contract which says “if you are hot you can’t be good at stuff and if you’re good at stuff you can’t be hot” and calum is breaking THAT social contract
you know what now that u mention it yeah....michael really is just ned + mj. if i had thought for .1 seconds longer about this ‘verse i could have probably put someone in like maybe jack or alex to be MJ but like.......don’t care <3 anyway this way it’s kinda cuter cos it’s just them. in MY opinion
writing the muke side of the caf convos was actually one of my favorite parts of this fic like that was just fun for me even tho i had to go back to the og spidey au fic and be like “okay how did it happen and when exactly did he do what” but like it was cool uno
KGJFKDMGLFCJGK yeah............sorry........maybe i have another fic planned for that. we’ll see. it is honestly my pleasure i love to hear your thoughts about it <3

Hit me with some alpha Calum!!! Intimidating alpha Cal who takes no shit and would do anything for those he loves. And just like. Fuck me up I guess!! Thanks!!!
Eve, i love you so much!!! thank you for this ask!!! 😭😭😭 i hope that’s what you hoped it to be (if not just msg me and i’ll continue with alpha!cal until you’re satisfied)
Okay, as i’m deep in the world of “the girl who cried wolf”, let’s stay there. I mentioned in the fic, there are some southern packs in this area, and let’s just say they sometimes give Cal and Ash a bit of a headache, cause they are pretty savage. But Cal is always there to protect his pack (and Ash’s pack, and simple humans, neighbourhood old ladies’ cats, he’s just an ultimate protector, fight me on that). So there’s this lil family in his pack, a girl of 19-20, her younger sis, let’s say 11-12, and their lil brother of 5. Their parents are not in the picture, so pack is taking care of them and Cal takes it as his full personal responsibility.
One night at some pack gathering Cal sees the older sister (shall we name her? i like the name Gabbie) being sad and a little distant from the mutual fun. But he also knows that Gabbie in a million years won’t tell him what’s her problem if he just comes up to her and ask. He likes Gabbie, she’s strong and honest and loyal. She hasn’t ascended yet, so they don’t know her place in an hierarchy and it makes it so much easier for Cal to talk to her. But she’s also proud and stubborn as hell and hates how much of a burden for the pack her family is (even tho they are not a burden), so she won’t ever admit to him something is wrong. But Cal would be an awful alpha if he’d just let it be. So he comes up to one of the oldest she-wolves in the pack, the wise old lady he’s looking up at more like a grandma and asks her to talk to Gabbie. He himself joins his purebloods and they’re just drinking beer and have fun, being all young and joking around. And no one would say, alpha isn’t relaxed and having his much deserved rest, as no one would see how he follows Gabbie and that old she-wolf talking.
Soon he knows, that in the local college Gabbie attends she came across some asshole from the southern packs. She didn’t think much of it, until she saw her standing on the corner of her street some days after that. She shoves her younger siblings back in the house, even tho they are begging to play outside, and lock all the doors and windows in the house. She starts seeing him in the town more and gets really scared for both, herself and her younger sister. Everyone knows, southern packs often steal women from other packs, and even sometimes kids. But she doesn’t want to bother the pack with it, too thankful for what they’ve already done and feeling shy to ask for more.
Calum sighs as one of his betas tells him about this situation. She acts like a true stubborn she-wolf, but forgets she’s just a little girl. He doesn’t wait any time and calls Ash to ask for couple of his betas for a week or so. He needs someone to look after Gabbie while she’s at school or running errands, but he can’t use any of his wolves, as she’ll understand and get offended.
This evening is a complete madness for Gabbie. It all starts with a nock on her front door. She feels her blood freeze in her veins, thinking it’s that southern wolf. But before she can stop her younger sister, the girl is already at the door. But the man standing at the door surprises Gabbie even more, cause it’s her alpha, with the bags from local chinese restaurant.
“Alpha?” Gabby said, not really getting what was going on. Calum just shrugged, as Gabbie’s younger brother was already jumping on him, yelling “uncle Cal!”
Cal said something about not wishing to dine alone, so Gabbie gave in, going back in the kitchen and starting to set the table. They often had other wolves pay an impromptu visits like then. Old family friend, Cal’s purebloods and even alpha himself. It wasn’t too out of character for him to show up on her porch with a bag full of takeaways, so Gabbie talked herself in not reading much into it. The dinner went fine, her little sister was smiling and chatting about her school projects and they all were obliged to play her brother’s new game after the dinner. Calum did stay a little longer than usual, up to the time of getting kids to bed and made Gabbie promise she won’t stay up for too late reading for classes before he left. It wasn’t a completely odd evening, but still Gabbie couldn’t shake this strange feeling out of her.
The next evening everything repeated. The third night Calum came the same time as the pizza guy and stopped Gabbie from paying. She knew now there was a reason for his visits and was afraid to know it.
On the fourth day he came much earlier with paper bags from the grocery shop and said they could cook something this time. He agreed on Gabbie’s help while her sister was finishing her school work on the other side of the kitchen island and her brother was painting a picture for his daycare. They cooked pasta and had a lovely chat about Gabbie’s college and her plans for after she graduates. Later at night, as they finished with the dinner and kids went upstairs to get ready for school and Cal and Gabbie had a pretty heated but whispered argument about him not helping her with dishes, they settled back at the table.
“Do you, maybe, want wine?” Gabby asked carefully, feeling awkwardness rise inside.
“You have wine?” Calum asked in surprise. He’s never seen Gabbie drink even beer.
She shrugged. “Mom always said there should be at least one bottle of good wine in the house, just for the occasion.”
“Your mom was a wise woman,” Calum nodded. “But thank you, maybe later.”
Gabby sneaked a look at the clock behind Calum. It was almost eleven, was he about to stay even later? Before she could form any crazy idea in her head, his phone vibrated shortly. Alpha looked at the screen and stood up.
“If you’ll excuse me, I need to leave your for the moment.”
Gabbie followed him suit, but had to stop on her porch. In the middle of a road, right in front of the house stood all Cal’s purebloods, two were holding the wolf stalking Gabbie last couple weeks. “You better stay in the house,” alpha said, looking at her over his shoulder and ran down the steps.
“Do you know whose territory you’re at?” he asked the wolf. His voice was low, almost a roar, full of anger.
The wolf just spit on the ground in front of Calum. Alpha smirked. He loved when they were so stupid to disrespect him. It made his job so fucking much easier. He shrugged out of his jacket and motioned to his purebloods to let go of the bastard. Before the wolf got an idea of what’s gonna happen next, Calum’s fist met his jaw with such force that the guy was on the pavement in no time. Alpha bent down and put the wolf up by his throat.
“Here’s how it’s gonna be,” he said in the same low and facke calm voice. “I’m gonna make a piece of meat out of you right now for even looking at one of my she-wolves. Then my men will drive you to some pit they’ll like and leave you there. Whether you die or not doesn’t bother me at all. But if you do survive and even try to come to Gabriel or any other of my wolves any closer than 10 miles, I’m gonna come back and kill you that time.”
Gabbie knew she shouldn’t have looked at what was happening next, but she couldn’t turn away. She was a wolf and that was her alpha protecting her. She had to see it. Alpha’s fists were fast and direct. She could hear only flesh meeting flesh, and the wolf spitting blood and groaning from time to time. When finished, Calum just stood up, leaving the wolf’s senseless body for his purebloods. He and one more of his men came up to Gabbie’s porch and stopped in front of her.
“I would like to wash my hands, if you don’t mind,” alpha told her, looking her directly in the eyes. He was asking her permission to come to her house and it literally blew young girl’s mind away. She just stepped aside, letting them both inside. Pureblood left Calum’s jacket on her sofa and left the house, while Calum was busy washing away blood from his knuckles in her kitchen sink.
“Thank you, alpha,” Gabbie said simply.
He hummed, turned off the water and looked around her kitchen.
“Where did you say the wine is?”
“The cupboard on your right.”
He found a bottle, poured himself a glass, looked at Gabbie in question, but she just shook her head. He sat back on his place at the dining table, took a sip and gestures the girl to sit opposite.
“The first thing you have to understand, Gabbie,” he said in a quiet voice, which enveloped Gabbie like soft velvet, “is that I’m your alpha.”
“I know that,” she blurted.
“Obviously, you don’t,” he sighed, taking another sip, his knuckles still red from punching. “I’m not just a family friend, not kind neighbour and not a friendly uncle. I am your damn alpha. And your safety, just like safety of your family and every other family in the pack, is my job. I was chosen to do this job by the wolves of the pack. And your father was one of those wolves. If anything threatens you, or you think it threatens you, you come to me. You don’t think you’d be able to deal with it yourself and you don’t wait till i ask someone to talk to you about it to get information i should have heard from you. Anything threatening you, threatens the whole pack. And you should come to me with that yourself.”
“I’m sorry, alpha,” Gabbie answered quietly, nervously playing with her fingers.
“Don’t be sorry, pup. Just learn from your mistake and never repeat it in the future,” he said, his tone even softer than before. “Your life hasn’t been easy on you lately, and I know your siblings made you too mature for your age. But you’re not only their sister, you’re a wolf. You’ll ascend soon and take your rightful place in the pack, and then mate with one of my purebloods and become the right hand of my mate. It’s time for you to start acting like a wolf you are.”
“How do you know?” Gabbie asked in a shaken voice couple minutes later. Alpha frowned, not getting what she was talking about. “How do you know i’ll become all this? You don’t know the wolf before he ascends.”
Calum smiled, finishing his wine. “I know the breed when i see a wolf,” he simply answered. The stood up, thanked Gabbie for a wonderful wine, picked up his jacked and wished her a good night.
But Gabbie didn’t go to her room and stayed in the kitchen for much longer than she should have, just looking at the chair her alpha had sat on and the glass her alpha had drunk from. She knew she had close to no chance to ascend as an omega, being the daughter of two purebloods, and knew her alpha had never even tried to mate any omega from their pack. But she’d lie if she said the only feeling she had for Calum that night was a wolf’s loyalty to her alpha.
Come talk to me about alpha!Cal or anything in the world really!

omg if you’re down to continue the roommate things but with cal ksjsks I’d scream whoops
okay i am so freaking down and excited to do this, its a continuation of this HC(x) roommate!Ashton here (x) roommate!Luke here (x) roommate!michael here (x)
Dating Roommate!Calum
-Never Have I Ever gets the mood started but it’s quickly changed to Truth or Dare. They actually shy away from sexualizing you cuz these are respectable roommates but finally, the last truth of the night, Michael asks “if you had to date any one of us who would it be?”
-”come on you guys, you can’t be serious.” “we wanna know.” you get up and go to the kitchen getting a glass of water and sigh, “fine. Calum. it would be Calum.”
-they all just stare at Calum whose jaw is on the floor
-”guys please don’t make a big deal out of this.” you plead
-they all kinda put their hands up in defence, Luke’s the first to be like “okay well i’m going to bed!” and they all sort of follow suit until its just you and Calum.
-”seriously Cal, i’m sorry if i’ve made things weird-” you say, turning to look at him but then his lips are on yours (because we all love this sort of sappy shit)
-he’s a face cupper for your first kiss and no one can convince me otherwise
-pulling away slowly and he’s just like, “sorry if i’ve made things weird.” and you both just get all giggly
-you both kinda go to your separate bed room doors and you’re finally just like, “wanna come in?”
-he’s at your door in an instant.
-you’ve had this gorgeous man in your bed many times before so its not awkward when you both just collapse onto the bed and go into immediate cuddle position
-”you know, if i had to choose a room mate to date, i’d choose you too.”
-smacking his chest and laughing
-he just pulls you to his chest and the laughter dies out and you just bask in his warmth
-falling asleep like that
-waking up perfectly cuddled next to him and just getting to look at his beautiful face
-he wakes up and is confused for a second because he’s in your room but then his grip tightens on you
-”want to go out on a date?” “i thought you’d never ask.”
-going into the kitchen and everyone kinda stares at you two.
-”did you guys seriously just cuddle all night?” “Michael you can’t ask questions like that!” “what?! come on, my room is right next to hers i would have heard something!”
-you end up going on a date, something not coffee related
-and of course it goes amazing because you’re already friends
-coming back to your apartment and going into your room
-not coming out for hours
-the others get home and all they can hear is loud music from your room but they know whats up
-like yeah they were all into you but you chose Cal. and they’re good friends. so they’re supportive.
-finally coming out and being all giggly and everyone is just like “aw”
-he walks you to work (again, why do these boys think its such a huge gesture when its honestly not….)
-and when he drops you off with a kiss all your coworkers scream when you come in
- “you finally chose one!” “he’s the cutest one!” “who had money on Calum?” “i did, ya’ll owe me money.”
-your coworkers won’t shut up about him all day
-but roommate relationships can be odd at the start because you live together so there isnt as much time alone
-but you and Cal are really respectful of each others space
-messaging each other from your rooms
-everyone heading to sleep and you both go to separate rooms, only for one of you to sneak out a little while later and go to the others room
-being caught by Luke, Ashton and Michael mid sneak
-”okay Y/N sharing the bathroom with you has got like ten times harder now that you and Calum shower together.” “Michael i’m not sure its that bad.” “i can’t get clean in that shower anymore!”
-after a month with Calum in your room almost every night you guys talk it over and decide to move his stuff to your room so Luke doesn’t have to share with Ashton anymore
-Luke is so thankful
-”wow, living together, that’s a big step.” Ashton jokes
-Calum teaches you how to cook
-he usually cooks shirtless and you begin cooking with him in just his shirt and the others thought it was cute at first but they start to hate it after a while
-because he’s just so damn sexy shirtless cooking and you’re so damn cute in that shirt so usually you end up turning the stove off (safety first) and making out
-yeah kitchen sex is a thing you both are into
-but its tough finding time when the others are away (or asleep)
-they walk in on you two making out a lot in the kitchen and they always make a huge deal about it
-”there are children in this apartment!” “i’m not a child.” “yes you are Luke.”
-movie nights where you cuddle the entire time and the other three kinda glare and get jealous
-the others walk in to your room way too much. they’re not used to you and Calum being a thing
-”Mate! Piss off!” “Y/N where is my button up?” “at least cover your eyes or something! also that girl from two nights ago took it.”
-stealing Calum’s hoodies and shirts because yes
-and they probably smell like him
-and this guys hands are so nice
-and the tattoos
-suddenly being able to just trace his tattoos like you’ve always wanted to
-and those adoring eyes
-so full of happiness because of you
-”okay Calum, if you’re going to leave hickies, please put them somewhere we can’t see.” “its bad enough that Michael has to sleep on the other side of the wall from you two.”
-lots of cuddles
-he’s so cute
-like you’d always known that he was pretty against relationships
-so the fact that he’s with you is shocking but shows how much he loves you
-the first time he says ‘I love you’ you’re heading out somewhere and he lets it slip as you go out the door and all of you just stop and stare at him
-throwing your bag down, running across the apartment into his arms and kissing him, “i love you too.”
-you leave and everyone lets out an “aw”
-trying to do date nights but someone is always home
-except the first night you don’t go to boys night
-the boys are so distressed, boys night without you and Calum?!
-agreeing to go out every second week to boys night
-clubbing with Calum and he’s so good at dancing, grabbing your hips and moving your body to the beat
-you always leave early tho and the boys all whistle as you do because they know where you’re going and what you’re doing ;)
-sometimes when you and Cal are going at it Michael will start banging on the wall and making sexual noises because it always throws the both of you off
-he likes slow dancing with you to music in your room
-roommate!Cal is just a sweetie
-Cal is just a sweetie okay
-oh my god. if he ever proposes you gotta know everyone is going to help him out with it
-but i cant get into that rn but it would be so cute
-i feel like these always end with me forcing myself to stop or this will continue forever

Exactly What It Is {l.h}
Warnings : none it's all fluff
Summary : the thing about two people flirting is that they don't know they're doing it.
Requested : yes by anon : I had this idea of being flirty with luke for a while but neither of you know you have feelings for each other (its obvious to everyone else tho) but one day you and luke stay back while the guys go out somewhere and they come back and luke has you pinned down on the ground and you’re tickling each other and you’re just like “its not what you think” and luke is like “i think it is though” and the boys are like “just kiss already”
A/N : I'm such an awkward person. I don't know how to flirt so it really reflects in my writing. I'm sorry. Also, sorry this took so long. Thanks to @cxddlyash for helping me with some of the dialogue! 💕
Tumblr media
You picked up a few pieces of your pasta with your fork, listening intently to what Luke was saying to you. You had joined him and Ashton for lunch to just sit and talk but Ashton was honestly feeling like a third wheel.
“Is your pasta good?” he asked and you poked a piece and held the fork to his mouth, feeding him. You gave him a small smile as he chewed. “Oh that's good”
“You want more?” you asked, giving him another piece. “So how's the album coming along?” you asked keeping your eyes on him.
“It's going great!” he responded immediately, his face glowing. “We’re in the middle of recording at the moment and everything is falling into place nicely,” he put his hand on top of yours. “I can't wait for you to hear it,”. There was a silence, of you and Luke just staring into each other’s eyes.
“You have really pretty eyes. They're so blue, I can't get enough of them,” you rested your chin on your hands, watching the smile on his face get bigger.
“My eyes?,”he asked back, his eyebrows raised. “Then you clearly have never seen yours. I could get lost in them all day” he leaned closer to you. A red tint appeared on his cheeks and you felt a blush creeping on your own as well. His hand was still on yours and you felt him squeeze it gently. It was a splendid moment until Ashton suddenly cleared the his throat, manipulating the atmosphere causing you and Luke to break eye contact. He removed his hand and placed in his lap.
“So, Ashton….” you trailed off, trying your best to reduce the awkwardness in the air that made you want the earth to open up and swallow you whole. “How are things with you?” He was wearing shades but you could tell exactly how he was looking at you, having done it multiple times.
“How nice of you to finally acknowledge my existence, ______” Ashton said, his eyebrows raised causing you to look down and chuckle in a mixture of awkwardness and amusement. “Anyway, let's just go,”
The three of you begin to walk back to Ashton’s apartment, the afternoon sun beaming down on you. Due to the big height difference between you and the boys, their relatively long strides caused you to fall behind quickly so you jogged to catch up and hit them on their arms.
“Damn, walk slower,” you scolded and Luke laughed.
“You have to keep up, darling” Ashton giggled at this, while you frowned at the blond in disbelief.
“Well, I'm not as tall as you two so please,” you said and the they slowed down their walking, allowing you to keep up at a normal pace. “Being short sucks when I have friends like you,” you added after a while, the two boys chucking on either side.
“Don't feel bad about being short, ________, it's cute,” Luke patted your hair and you smiled in return.
“Thanks but you're cute too..,” you reached up pinched his cheek, your smile turning into a grin. Throughout this, Ashton pulled out his phone and texted Calum.
Bro, I'm going crazy. Luke and _______ are all over each other. I feel worse than a third wheel. Calum responded a few seconds later.
Hahahaha can't they just get together already? They've been flirting forever.
But they don't know that and it's getting frustrating. Idk how long I can take this
Calm down, man. Where you guys headed now?
My place… Ashton typed another message after that.
Is it alright if you drop by too so it wouldn't be that bad? Please?
Ooooh like a double date?
Not exactly but sure, whatever
Cool. omw daddy ;)
….um thanks bro :)
You reached Ashton’s apartment just as Cal did. You greeted each other as Ashton unlocked his door, inviting you in. Despite Calum’s and Ashton’s multiple attempts to change the subjects throughout you and Luke’s teasing, they decided to leave after half an hour after failing for nth time.
“I need to take Duke for a walk, Ash, do you wanna come too?” After responding a little too enthusiastically, they left the house, leaving you and Luke alone. You two continued talking, subconsciously moving closer to each other on the couch as the minutes passed by finally resulting in your legs in Luke’s lap with one of his hands holding them.
“Have I mentioned that you have gorgeous hair?” you asked, grazing your fingers through it softly.
“Yes multiple times,” he smiled, a dimple appearing on is cheek. You poked it and giggled. “You're so cute,” he added, out of nowhere, causing your face to change into a look of shock and a blush creeping up your cheeks. You looked down shyly, and placed your hands in your lap. You were used to Luke calling you cute, but this time, it felt different. Maybe it was how close he was to you, feeling the warmth of his hand that was on your leg, through your pants and how his other arm rested lazily on the back of the couch, his fingers playing with the loose strands of your hair. You felt him tilting your chin up and saying, “I mean it, ______,”. His hand moved up to your waist and he squeezed it gently, causing you to instinctively push it away while stifling a small laugh. Like noticed this and raised his eyebrows. “Oh? Are you ticklish?” Before you could reply, his face told you that he wasn't really expecting an answer.
“Hey….don't..” you slowly said, pushing at his chest gently while you stood up from the couch. You took two steps in attempt to run but Luke stood up quickly and wrapped his arms around you from behind, attacking your sides with his fingers. You erupted in giggles as you tried to pry his hands of you, causing you to sink to the floor. He hovered over you, still tickling your sides as you begged him to stop in between your wheezing laughter, Luke’s laughter echoing yours.
“Oh, didn't realise we were interrupting something,” you heard someone speak up and Luke immediately got off you and helped you up, seeing Calum and Ashton in the hallway, smug looks on both their faces.
“No, you weren't,” you replied instantly, dusting yourself off and fixing your hair. “It's not what you think,” Calum rolled his eyes at this and huffed loudly. Luke eyes darted to you, his head ducking slightly as he placed his hands in his pockets.
“What if it is though?”Luke said confidently, your eyes widening in shock.
“What… what do you?-” you began to say but were cut off by Ashton.
“Oh my God, just kiss already,” Luke took a step towards you his hands reaching to cup your cheeks, caressing them lightly with his thumbs.
“Can I kiss you _______?” Luke asked softly, his blue eyes meeting yours. You wrapped your arms around his torso and nodded, breaking into a smile. He mirrored your expression and leaned down, pressing his lips to yours in a slow and delicate kiss. The moment your lips touched, you pulled him closer letting his hips meet yours. His lips felt soft and you felt yourself getting lost in the moment and melting under his touch. He pulled apart for a second and reattached your lips more passionately. You broke apart after a few seconds, panting slightly and he rested his forehead on his yours. “Well, if you didn't already know… I like you,” Luke breathed out and you let out small laugh and hugged him nuzzling into his neck.
“Hey…”Ashton called out resulting in you two looking at him. “I think it's great that you two are together and all but please…,” he paused, gesturing to the open door, “leave,”

Car trip and talking - a.i
A/N: Another part of that fanfic. I'm asking myself of it would worth it put Y/N with Ashton before she gets with Calum.
Summary: You and the four boys are going to speend a long weekend on Ashton's beach house.
When you get to Ashton's you were almost sleeping already, while you bath, he goes to your place to get your stuff. You lie down on his bed, covering your body and when he gets back you're ready sleeping.
"Hey, love birds." you hear Mike say. You open your eyes a little to see him in by the door.
"I need to take all those extra keys back." Ashton says letting you go, just then you can see that you two were spooning.
"What times is it?" you try to get your phone, but you can't find it. "Where's my phone?"
"At living room, charging. And it's eleven." Ashton says. "We need to get ready."
It didn't take too long to get ready, Michael was going with you and Ashton and Luke and Calum were going in Calum's car.
"I can go with them, you know." Mike says, you two are in the hallway waiting for Ashton. "I can't really believe that you two are just friends. You were spooning!!!"
"Not you too, Mikey." you say rolling your eyes. "Why can't we be friends? It's good that way."
"You should give it a chance, tho." Mike says shrugging.
"At what?" Ashton come, locking the door.
"Us." you say, simply.
"It wouldn't work." he says, also shrugging. "And then it would mess everything up. No, thanks."
"See?" you point Ashton looking at Mike. "He knows. And he can't handle me."
"You wish." Ashton giggles by your side while all of you head out to the garage, Calum and Luke are already there.
"Mike, we need you to go with us." Luke says, he's pointing to the car. "You need to babysit."
"Duke!!!!" Mike smiles looking to the dog though the window. "Your weekend?" he looks at Calum.
"Leighton is going to her aunt's, she can't take him." he shrugs. You look to the window, smiling.
"OMG, what a cutie!!!!!" you're already peting the dog though the window, he's laid down, his belly up accepting the peting. "We're going to have so much fun, baby boy."
"You do this just to get the girls, right?" Ashton looks at Calum, that shrugs.
Everyone gets to the cars, the trip to Ashton's beach house is a little longer than you expect. Luke and Calum are following you two, the white car always behind.
"Did you ever thought about us?" Ashton asks from nowhere. You look at him, your mind working to process the question. "You can be sincere. I think we're friends enough for that."
"Why are you asking? Did Mike get into your mind or?"
"No." his eyes are fixed on the road, but you know that he can see you too. "I thought about that sometimes, but I always thought that you weren't interested and I really like our friendship."
"I thought about it too." you admit and his eyes get to you for a second. "but, you know," you take his free hand and hold against yours. "we became friends. I like what we have, I like being able to touch you like this knowing that you don't expect anything else." you give his hand a kiss and he smiles. "But I guess I asked for too much? With the cuddling and all?"
"No, no no." he's fast to respond. "I like cuddling." he takes your hand to his lips and kisses it. "I like having a girl friend, having you. We work as friends, I just wonder if we would work as couple as well."
"I don't really know." you can't stop looking at him, again, too friends to let this kind of thing be awkward. "But I do have the fear of changing everything if we didn't work. You know, it's hard to get back to this when we got so beyond."
"I know." he nods.
"Ash, are you in love with me?" you ask, carefully.
"Not more than you are with me." he smiles looking at you when the car stops at the red light. "I'm not trying to get anything from you, baby girl. We're just talking."
"I know that." you smile softly to him. "But I have been in that road before. It sucks being in love with your best friend when he's not in love with you."
"Not the case, you can be sure. If I was in love with you, you would know."
"You were going to try to cuddle? Or being touchy? Maybe a little jealousy? Ha, I know, you would give me pet names and hold my hand in the car." You say smiling, pointing everything he usually do with you.
"Something like that." he laughs. "But you know, if we keep our amazing" he's sarcastic "love life, I'll totally make a move on you some day."
"So I'm your last option, Irwin?" you raise one eyebrow smiling.
"Nah. You're my first when it cames to really spend a life together. They always say we need to marry our best friend."
"So I'll be competing with Calum as well?" you bite your bottom lip, holding a laugh and he shrugs.
"If come to that, you're winning already. You're way cutter than him."
"OK, then." you say. "If in one year from now we were both single, we're going to take a shot."
"You have yourself a deal. Please put this on your calendar and mine too."

Always by Blink-182 (Luke Hemmings Imagine)
[[Do not expect too much from this. Tbh apparently I wrote it on June the 5th and I recently found it]]
The frown it had appeared on my face since the fight I had had with him that afternoon had never left. As it was planned that night we went to our usual club with the guys and girls. On the way to the place Ashton gave us a ride along with Michael, Calum, Crystal and Leila. The ride was kind of awkward and luckily Mikey was inbetween us with Crys on his lap so we didn't even look at each other. Nevertheless the others hadn't the fault of our stupidity so I tried my best not to let the tension bother our friends. Thus when Leila told a funny story about a guy who had played her got his karma back I laughed as well as everytime Ash giggled like a school girl.
After we got out of the car girls and boys had to do different queues to enter the place so each group head it's way. Not 5 seconds since we took our place in the girls queue Leila immediately grabbed my arm and demanded me an explanation.
—What the hell is wrong with you?
I raised an eyebrow at her statement.
—What?
—What on earth happened now? Why did you two fight this time? —She exclaimed exasperated.
—Why do you say it as if it's my fault?
Now it was her turn to raise an eyebrow at me. Except she also crossed her arms over her chest to add authority at her thoughts. Crystal let out a laugh at the show.
A heavy sigh left my body. —Listen is not that big deal it's just a stupid argument. It will be fine.
—Ugh why are you like this?! —she looked defeated at the sky and then at me to which I couldn't help but laugh as I nodded my head in negation. —I hate that you never tell how you feel about things. Specially with Luke...
I was saved by the security guy that took our IDs and let us into the club. Leila was right. I knew I'm not that much of a teller, mainly because I don't want to be judged. Less when it comes to my relationships. What happens between Luke and I is our problem. Of course sometimes you need to get things out of your chest but I certainly didn't feel comfortable revealing personal stuff about my boyfriend and me.
The guys took longer to get inside so while we were waiting for them we made our way to the bar and asked for drinks. Crystal began to narrate about a music festival she had recently attended to and Leila commented interrupting her when she mentioned the best outfits she had seen. I on my side wasn't really paying attention. Not because I was thinking about Luke but because I didn't feel like clubbing. I rather be on our basement laying on the couch listening to blink-182 and smoking cigarettes.
The girls were animatedly chatting facing each other while I was staring at nothing in particular. Calum appeared on my sight with the rest of the boys a few feet behind him. He locked his eyes with mine and I saw his empathy. Oh dear how I love this boy, he's like a puppy.
He gave me a warm smile and held it there till he walked around the little table, passed behind Lei and hugged me from behind. His strong right arm was on my chest right on my collarbones holding me against his chest. The feeling of his tight grip and the comfy grey hoodie he was wearing was really heart melting and made me smile. Naturally tho my gaze seeked for Luke's who was already staring at me ashamed. Right after he conneceted his look with mine for a split second he looked down at the floor and bit his piercing uncomfortably. I did the same.
Apparently Cal had seen our little interaction because he neared his head to mine and spoke in my ear so I could hear him above the loud music.
—It's gonna be okay.
My hands flew to touch his arm on my chest in a reasuring way. He then kissed the head of my head and started paying attention to Ashton, hanging his arm on my shoulder keeping me close.
-x-
I couldn't point exactly at what point I had lost the girls in the dance floor. Boys being boys had decided just to remain on the table from earlier just drinking and talking while the girls desperately wanted to move their hips. I danced  two or three songs and got really bored. I definitely wasn't in the mood for this. A frown was still visible on my expressions and my temper was getting worse by minute. I had discreetly took a few steps away from my friends and rested my body on the nearest wall keeping an eye on them but obviously that didn't last.
I took a deep breathe as I closed my eyes fighting to keep a positive attitude till the end of the night. Jeez I could picture my so beloved bed on my quiet room waiting for me. Suddenly a very familiar song came through the speakers. "Always" by blink wasn't the typical song that you hear in a pub, although I must admit this wasn't a particularly common one. I opened my eyelids as I felt two hands sliding on my waist and his voice singing the lyrics of the song in my ear.
—"I'm so sick of fights, I hate them"...
I looked directly at those baby blue eyes I learned to love to death. His expression showed hurt. His eyes told you everything he felt. There weren't any more words said. No apologies, no "I'm sorry", no "I love you". We hang on our touch and kept connected through our gazes. I blinked and buried myself in his magnificent chest closing the gap between us. Both his arms surrounded my figure to make sure I wouldn't leave. Not like I wanted to. I was tired of our stupid fights too, although they weren't diary, and I felt peculiarly tired and frustrated that night. I didn't even care about anything anymore I just wanted to cuddle with Luke and sleep a lot. I felt him leaving a kiss on my head and my hands fisted his clothes in an attempt to bring him closer.
We stood there for a moment as if we had missed each other. When the chorus of the song came he sang for me again and I couldn't help but fall in love with him even more. His voice was out of this world. I'm sure it could make the world's peace come true.
—"C'mon let me hold you, touch you, feel you... always. Kiss you, taste you, all night... always..." —his eyes were still connected to mine just to look down to my lips when he ended singing.
From one moment to other our mouths had crashed lovingly. His lips moving over mines was everything that's right in this world. The friction between our mouths connecting us into a whole another level... I can't explain how right this felt. The feeling of his lips against mines was nothing to be compared with. I couldn't bring myself to believe such a simple act could make me feel so troubled and complete in this life. Inevitably a smile of pure happiness was on my face after we broke the kiss. Our eyes locked again and now his were shinning differently. Mine were too probably. There was no denying we loved each other, a lot.

Chapter 1, part 1
“When the lights go out She’s all I ever think about The picture burning in my brain Kissing in the rain I can’t forget my english love affair”
Luke’s POV.
After a gig, Calum decided that we should have a beer or two. We’ve been in the UK on tour for awhile now and are currently driving to some random pub in downtown London. It’s Friday, so most of people are having a happy hour…sorta.
Loud music, low illumination, a lot of people and a slight smell of alcohol and wood; that’s how I can describe the place Calum picked. It is pretty comfortable, tho. And their original beer was awesome.
Some fans dragged their chairs to our table and we spent some time together, but suddenly, around a hour or so Mikey clapped me on my chest and pointed to a girl in the bar. She were wearing a fluorescent green skirt with a pink blouse and black vans. She looked like she was straight out of a 80’s magazine, and oh my God, so ridiculous.
I couldn’t help but laugh, just like Mikey. And then we turned our gazes to the table. A few shots of tequila have just arrived, and we ended up drinking more than some shots.
Several hours later, I was dizzy and looking at the amount of people on the dancefloor. A electronic song was pumping on the stereos and now the place had some colorful lights on. I felt someone looking at me, but didn’t turn to see who. Taking another shot, I pulled myself up and walk to the dancefloor.
The girl from earlier was close to me, and I finally could see her face better. I mean, I was far from her the first time I saw her, and now I’m close enough – and maybe drunk enough – to actually think that she’s stunning. She cracks a devilish grin and start dancing in front of me. I do the same, smiling and dancing the best way I can. I know the song, which makes me sing the chorus.
Surprisingly, she does the same, and together we start to laugh and jump, until the song ends. Another one start, but I didn’t recognize it at first. So, I moved my glance to 80’s princess and asked in a high voice, since the place was loud.
“What’s your name?” I ask, getting closer to her ear.
“Lydia.” She says, looking back, to the bar. Then she point it with her thumb. “Wanna go grab some drinks?”
I nodded. We both went to the bar to have some shots, and then some more. She told me about her dreams and I talked to her like she was my best friend that I haven’t see for a long, long time. Several times my eyes fell to her lips and I noticed that she did the same. God, why? I only could think about how her legs felt wrapped around my waist and how her nails could dig into my back.
Deciding to not think any longer, I push her by her hips and pressed my lips against hers. Lydia took it as a cue, pulling my hair and starting to kiss me harder.
I can’t tell how long we spent just making out in front a lot of drunk people. The way she tasted and felt were addicting.
“Hey, come with me.”
She says suddenly, breaking our kiss to look at me with a smirk. Nodding, I let her lead me through everyone till we get out of the bar. In seconds we reach a car, probably hers. She quickly takes the keys out of her pocket and unlocks the back door. Taking her again, I get in the car, having her on my lap.
“Maybe we should go to a more… Proper place?”
I asked in a husky voice, sliding my hands down to her butt, moving my lips to her neck, hearing her moan softly. She nods and grab a fistful of my hair, pushing it gently and giving me goosebumps.
[…]
The next morning, I woke up with the sun shining through the window and a freaking headache, hungover, probably. I didn’t recognize the place I was until I looked at my side, seeing Lydia still asleep, twisted around the bed sheets.
“Fuck.” is the only thing I can manage to mumble, touching my forehead and rubbing my eyes. Bit by bit, all my memories come back, since the time we left the bar until we fell asleep.
I remember of how her fingers felt against my skin and how she wrapped her legs around me, better than I imagine. I remember how passionate our night was and I remembered how much I loved it. It wasn’t the drink – despite those awful clothes, Lydia was gorgeous.
For minutes, I stared her asleep, saving every single detail of her heart-shaped face, her brown eyes and fair skin. Right now she looked harmless and naive. But I knew she was totally the opposite, at least in bed.
I can’t contain a grin remembering all the kinky things from yesterday. I couldn’t be a dick and leave before she woke up, so I left the bed and walked through the place until I found the kitchen.
Lydia showed up right after me finish the coffee, like she had the perfect timing. She seemed to be in a terrible hangover, her eyes were almost closed and frowning, she looked at me, whispering:
“What… The fuck?”
Her accent were pretty strong in the sentence, which makes me smile. Shrugging, I put some coffee on a mug and gave it to her.
“Uh… Should I have left before you woke up?
I asked on a low voice, we both were with headaches and loud voices wasn’t a good thing for the moment. Holding the white mug, she stares me, shaking her head.
“Is just a rare thing. The last guys didn’t wait for me to get up.”
Ouch. I thought that british boys supposed to be polite as fuck. Sitting on a chair close to the stove, I kept glancing at Lydia. She were wearing only a long black band tee, which covered only a small part of her thighs, making it look… Provoking.
“Uh. That sucks.”
“Yeah…”
For a moment, an awkward silence was our only company, and it was uncomfortable. After sipping, she sat by my side and started tapping the glass with her nails.
“So… What’s your name again?”
“Luke. Lydia, right?”
I asked, just to be sure. She nods and stares me, making me only think about her lips and want it. Shit. I couldn’t stop staring those.
“You look familiar to me… I don’t know why. Do I know you?”
So she didn’t know that I was in a band. Cracking a grin, I consider about telling her about 5sos, after all she could ending up seeing my face on a show poster.
“I’m from a band, and we’re here for a tour… 5 Seconds Of Summer. Do you know it?”
Lydia looks to the mug, taking three seconds to exclaim a loud “oh!”
“You guys came here for a tour? Whoa. That sounds big.”
That makes me laugh for a sec, and nodding I bit my lip, something I got as an habit.
“Yeah…”
And then, there was the awkward dead silence again. Maybe it was my cue to leave. Cleaning out my throat, I stand up, toching my pockets, checking if I had my wallet and cellphone.
“I guess that’s it. Uhn… See you around. Maybe.”
I tell her, feeling stupid for it. ‘See you around, maybe’? Really?! But she gives me a grin, tho.
“See you around… Maybe.”
[…]
Mikey is the first to notice I’m back, and half a second after I step in the hotel room, he’s on my heels.
“Where have you been?” He asks, while I jump into my bed, gasping and closing my eyes.
“With a girl. Do you remember the weirdo one, with the pink blouse?”
“No way.” Michael laughs, sitting at the verge of my bed. “She’s ugly. How could you feel attracted to her?”
“As a matter of fact, she's gorgeous. Just doesn’t know how to dress…”
“Are you serious?” Mikey asks, frowning at me. “You ARE serious!” he exclaim when I don’t say a word.
I can only laugh at that, not feeling embarrassed at all. Lydia definitely wasn’t a mistake, or something that I regret. Actually, I wish I could repeat the dose.
“Where’s Calum and Ashton?” I ask, while I get up and pick up my guitar to practice a little for the gig tomorrow. It was our last show before coming back home.
“I have no idea. Maybe in someone's bed. You three just disappeared last night. I came home alone. Late night. All. By. Myself.”
With that, I send him a glance that says “are you done with drama?” and then I start playing, calling the conversation off. He understands that, and joins me for the “rehearsal”.
A/N: Hey guys! Hope u enjoy it. It’s my first fanfic, sorry about the name and horrible start/end of chap. Not my strongest point… ehhh. More coming up soon, byee! Love, Allison

Would it be awkward/inappropriate for me to ask for a cal imagine where he finds out that you are restricting what you eat because you're insecure of how you look and the media attention + fans are triggering
Hi, I am really sorry but I don't feel comfortable writing about this.
I’m really sorry that you feel like you need to read about this when there are so many other beautiful fanfics you could be reading about and Calum would love you just the way you are.
You shouldn't have to restrict what you eat just because of what people think.
Thank you for requesting tho. I hope you have a fantastic day and if you need to talk, my messages are always open 💛💚💙💜❤️

the roommate|AU is EVERYTHING! pretty pls continue it with Michael
continuation of this post. Cal. Ash. Luke.
Dating roommate!au Michael
-okay so you’d always felt close to Michael, after all, he’s the one who offered you the apartment.
-playing video games together a lot
-him teaching you how to play if you’re not really a video game person
-going to talk to him in his room while he’s playing something online, as far as you can see they’re in the waiting room before the game starts so he has time to talk. you can hear his friends in the background and one of them is like “oooh is that you’re hot roommate!?” someone else says “ask her out already!”
-Michael fumbles to turn the sound off and turns to you, blushing hardcore.
-”your gaming friends know about me?” you tease.
-”sorry you had to hear that.” Michael says, still blushing.
-you ask him the thing you wanted to ask and you turn to leave then stop, turning back and leaning on the doorframe, “so when are you going to ask me out?”
-he almost falls out of his chair
-he’s a stuttering mess but ends up being like, “tonight maybe? i mean unless you’re busy, you’re probably busy-” “tonight works.” “yeah?” “yeah.”
-you close the door but hear his friends screaming in the background
-”did you just get Michael to ask you out?” Ashton asks. you shrug. he lets out a long sigh, “finally, we’ve been trying to get him to ask you out for ages.” Calum nods, “that was smooth.”
-you and Michael both want opinions on your outfits for the date so Luke, Cal and Ash go from your room to his back and forth with each outfit change
-finally Ashton is just like “you’re both freaking out way too much. you’re roommates, you’ve both seen each other in sweatpants, when you’re sick, hell, you’ve walked in on Michael naked in the bathroom one morning already. it doesn’t matter. you both look great just go on your stupid date already!”
-i mean true tho
-you end up just walking around and ending up in a park somewhere just sitting on a bench and talking
-its like almost any other hang out until he’s like “can i kiss you?”
-you nod and he just grabs you face
-its a soft kiss, the type of kiss that sucks the air from your lungs and makes you dizzy, the kiss where you pull away smiling and giggling, feeling giddy like its your first kiss in the world
-”wow.” “you can say that again.”
-when you both stand up you grab each others hands, more giggling because its the weirdest thing. when something that feels so right has been under your nose without you realizing it. its crazy
-you never really realized it before but he looks at you with such adoration
-knowing that this boy loves you
-going back home and ending up playing video games
-”look Y/N i took a bullet for you.” “We both died.” “yeah but i died first, i can’t control what happens after im dead!”
-”you look so intense when you play video games.” “intense about you!” “that doesn’t make any sense.” “so?”
-watching something on his computer while in his bed and you end up falling asleep cuddled against him
-he’s so soft for you and he doesn’t want to wake you up
-waking up in the morning next to him and his hair is sticking up every way but he’s still so pretty
-pressing a soft kiss to his lips and he wakes up with a smile
-”am i dreaming?” “no.” “good.”
-staying in bed forever just talking
-”i’m so glad i bumped into you that day.” “me too.”
-”god what if you never moved in. what if that never happened? life would be so different.”
-”it feels like divine intervention or something.” “like fate?” “yeah. fate.”
-”we should get up.” “no, just a few more minutes. i don’t want to let you go.”
-because your rooms are next to each others no one notices you both leaving from Michaels room.
-but they do notice the staring and the smiling and the blushing
-Ashton is the one who is finally just like, “what’s going on with you two?” but that sly grin on his face tells you he’s already guessed it, besides they all know you went on the date
-Michael is all blushy about it
-i feel like out of all of them, Michael probably needs to most alone time? (maybe Cal but idk) but Michael is down with you two hanging out and not necessarily talking
-chilling on his bed while he games and you’re on your computer or your phone
-playing music while you chill and if its a song you both love you’ll put down your electronics and sing together
-you’re just so comfortable being together
-silences aren’t awkward
-”you dyed your hair red!” “yeah i wanted it to reflect my mood.” “aw baby are you mad? are you okay?” “shit… it was supposed to be red for in love.”
-he tries so hard
-so fam i dunno i’ve read a lot os smut where Michael is a power dom and shit but i’ve also read the soft stuff so i’d say roommate!michael is probably into the softer stuff with someone he really truly loves but has the capacity to be hella dom (especially into toys) if his partner is
-yeah he loves electronics
-so he’d be the kinky asshole who gives you vibrating panties
-could you imagine wearing them at work because he’s literally the floor above the coffee shop and he forgets he has the remote and accidentally sets in on high
-okay might have to write that smut now because damn thats an idea
-wow. i have to take a break writing this after that whole vibrating panty thing, maybe a cold shower cuz damn
-does he really accidentally set in on high though or is that just an excuse he tells you? ;)
-he comes down to visit you sometimes and plays around on his phone at a table, smiling at you a lot
-”i knew it would be him, he was the OG roommate.” “they literally bumped into each other right outside work.” “fuck, it could have been me if i’d had a shift that day.”
-he calls you kitten
-dont fight me on this. kitten. princess. sweetheart. kill me now.
-he’s so understanding. like if you have issues like depression or anxiety you bet your ass this guy is HERE for YOU
-chocolate? CHECK
-”wanna talk about it babe?” CHECK
-”aw honey come cuddle, let me make you feel better.” CHECK
-”i bought you this flower because i know it’s your favourite.” CHECK
-okay so you always use to share a bathroom but now… it gets even better
-and the best part is none of the other guys have to know how often you go to bone town because they don’t share the bathroom with you two
-i feel like he’d be down for shower sex
-his eyes going so wide the first time one of you almost slips and dies but laughing it off… however he will not fuck up like that again (goes and buys a non slip shower mat)
-he loves nudity, so coming out of the shower sometimes and he’s just there like “i missed you.” “come on Michael you wanted to see my boobs.” “well yeah, i love your boobs.”
-or you brushing your teeth and he comes out of the shower and hugs you and gets you all wet… in more ways than one *wink wonk bitches
-sharing hoodies
-being that couple that goes to the gas station at 2AM for candy in onesies
-god its like i’m trying to pimp myself out to Michael and i am swerving into this boys lane like a motherfucker right now. i gotta stop. what a BAE
