Do They Want Kids: Headcanon Edition

Note: I’ve had this idea bouncing around in my head for a while now and I thought it’d be an interesting character study! Obviously for those who already have children, we're discussing whether or not I think they want more. Now, most of these are just for biological children, I think the answers may be a bit different for adoptive ones though I do mention those for some of the characters. And please note that these are just my personal interpretations of the characters. It is not meant to be a dig at anyone.

Characters: Agent Whiskey, Javier Peña, Din Djarin, Catfish/Frankie Morales, Ezra, Oberyn Martell, Maxwell Lord, Max Phillips, Marcus Pike, Pero Tovar, Marcus Moreno

Agent Whiskey:

Honestly, after what happened the last time he got a partner pregnant? I'm gonna say no. I feel like his partner being pregnant would trigger some massive waves of latent trauma in his brain. Part of him still wonders about "what could've been" and part of him still yearns for that life, but at the end of the day, he just doesn't see himself as a father anymore. And he's made his peace with that. He’s no spring chicken anymore, anyway, and something tells him he’d have a rough time keeping up with a kid. (Plus, I headcanon that Statesman makes all of their field agents go through a sterilization procedure so they don't have any er... "loose ends" hanging around after seduction missions, so to speak. So at this point he probably couldn’t have biological kids even if he wanted to).

Javier Peña:

No. 100% no. His job’s way too dangerous. He sees and hears how much work it is having an infant around when Connie and Olivia are still close by with Steve. He hears the cries through the night, sees Steve with dark circles under his eyes from the stress (not just from caring for Olivia, but from worrying about her safety too). In his mind, he’s got too much on his plate already to properly care for a child. Even once he’s out of the DEA and back stateside, he just… can’t picture himself as a father. Loud noises and people pestering him tend to annoy and upset him, which he figures would be a bad combination with a young kid running around. Come back when they're old enough to be quiet.

Din Djarin:

Din is... complicated. On one hand, I can see him not wanting biological children purely because of his job. It's dangerous to put it mildly, and he's not sure he could handle the stress of keeping not just you safe, but a child too. Much less one that's far less capable of handling itself than a force-wielding 50-year-old green baby. But I can also see him wanting one too, because he yearns for that sort of life. He wants the vows, the bond, the child-rearing parts of growing old with someone. Though I can see him foregoing a biological child in favor of a foundling too. He was one, after all, and it would probably be safer for his partner to not have to endure childbirth. So I think that he does want kids, though he's less firm on whether or not they're biologically his.

Catfish/Frankie Morales:

Oh, Frankie. Frankie, Frankie, Frankie. Honestly, I think he does want one more. Not just as a sibling for his first child, but because that's just... the standard he grew up with I think. The nuclear family model, if you will. Two parents, two kids. The American Dream and all that. I think he loves the idea of bringing a new life into the world, of sharing that with his partner. I think he loves the idea of watching them grow, of teaching them and guiding them alongside his partner. That's just the life he's envisioned for himself, I think. Plus I just need you to imagine him trying to build a crib for a second. 70% hopelessly terrible at it and 30% so enthusiastic that he makes up for it.

Ezra:

Honestly? Deep down in his heart of hearts? I think Ezra likes the idea of having a kid of his own someday. But he knows that's just... not feasible with his current career and how healthcare is out on the fringes of the galaxy. So I think he's come to terms with the idea of not having any of his own. It's simply too dangerous, not to mention too costly given his meager earnings every harvest. He's older, he's tired. I can see him taking an older kid, like a preteen or teenager, under his wing and being sort of a father figure (I mean, he does the same thing with Cee), but I can't see him being okay with fathering an infant. In his daydreams maybe, but not in reality.

Oberyn Martell:

Fuck yeah, let’s have a dozen! Seriously though, I can see Oberyn being cool with having enough kids to fill a sports team. If you don’t want any, he’s not too phased. He’s already got 8 of em. But let it be known that he IS down for more, and considering his… habits in the bedroom, he’s probably on the way to getting them. The Dornish Army ain’t got nothin on the Martell Army, Y’know? But yeah, I can see him being one of those that at least leans towards wanting (more) kids.

Maxwell Lord:

Hmmm... Maxwell is a tricky one, I won't lie. Honestly, in keeping with his character, I can see him wanting another kid purely to try and be a better father for them from the start. As if he's trying to make up for the mistakes he made with Alistair. Whether this is a conscious reason behind him wanting a kid or not, I think it's still there, bouncing around in his subconscious. That, and giving Alistair a sibling to hopefully bond and grow up with. So he's one that I an also see leaning towards wanting kids.

Max Phillips:

I mean, if we’re talking about canon here… he couldn’t have kids even if he wanted to. But for Max, I… honestly don’t really see him wanting kids either. I can’t imagine him being too eager to settle down and be a dad. Though if he could have biological kids, I can unfortunately see him being that parent that works VERY long hours and conveniently sleeps through every crying spell. In other words, I can see him being cool with having a kid… as long as he isn’t the one taking care of it.

Marcus Pike:

Look, I know a lot of people point to his speech to Jane after his breakup with Lisbon as a sign that this man Wants Kids. But honestly? I see it differently. He says "A life. A home. A family, if she wanted” when he points out what he was offering her. That "if she wanted" is a very important distinction, I think, and one I think says "if she doesn't want kids, I'm okay with that too". So I’m gonna say he’s alright with the idea of never having kids just as much as he’s alright with the idea of having them. If his partner doesn't want any? He'll be the best husband he can be. If they do want kids? He'll be the best father he can be, too.

Pero Tovar:

Honestly, I don't... think Pero has much choice in the matter, given the time period he's in. Though that being said, I can see Tovar being alright with having kids. Extra hands to tend the home and all that. However, I can also see him being skittish around the idea of pregnancy and childbirth. He loves his partner dearly, and such things could very well be deadly in those days. So while he wouldn't mind having children, I can also see him being scared of the idea as well. But, as stated previously, I'm not sure he has much say in the matter if he still wants to sleep with his partner, though I could be mistaken on that front.

Marcus Moreno:

I can see Marcus M being on the fence. He has Missy already, so clearly he’s not against having children. But as for more? I think he could go either way. Part of him probably wants to give Missy a sibling, but then he starts to worry. What if they’d be too far apart in age? What about his work with the Heroics? Would a potential second kid be in danger purely because of who their father is? Granted, I think he worries about that sort of stuff with regards to Missy anyway, but another kid would bring out those worries even more so I feel like he’d be… hesitant, to say the least. But if you really want one? I can’t see him telling you no either.

I watermark my everything because the last thing I need in my life is for one of those lowlife fucks that like to impersonate pretty girls on the internet to grab my picks and try catfishing someone. I keep seeing those fake accounts pop up of people I'm friends with on Instagram and I can't believe that someone really goes "yeah, this is a choice I'm going to follow through with". It's fucking disgusting.

All of that considered...I ended up archiving nearly my entire Instagram today because these bitches making me paranoid now. Sometimes it makes me wonder if me putting myself out there as much as I do is worth it. I love the validation and it's honestly the only thing that's made me come to realize things about myself that I'd never noticed before, and in the end that raises my confidence. But.. I'm exhausted now..

The action began with a massive catch as Khloie, only 13 years old, successfully caught a 47-pound catfish. Cedric Poyner said, "As she began to reel it in, I remember her saying, "This is hard!!!" I told her that's because it's a big fish!" Later in the afternoon, Khloie caught one more, and her brothers caught two fish each, while their mom landed a 38-pound catfish totaling seven fish.
