To some it looks like a cat's eye. To others, like a giant cosmic conch shell. This is actually one of the brightest and most highly detailed planetary nebula known- the Cats Eye Nebula. It is composed of gas expelled in the brief yet glorious phase near the end of life of a Sun-like star. This nebula's dying central star may have produced the outer circular concentric shells by shrugging off outer layers in a series of regular convulsions. The formation of the beautiful inner structures, however, is not well understood. The featured image is a composite of a digitally sharpened Hubble Space Telescope image with X-ray light captured by the orbiting Chandra Observatory. The exquisite nebula spans over half a light-year across. Of course, by gazing into this Cat's Eye, humanity may well be seeing the fate of our sun, destined to enter its own planetary nebula phase of evolution ... in about 5 billion years.
While I work on re-uploading my video tutorials, here's a quick pictutorial for how I tie the double coin or pretzel knot on myself - single strand and double strand examples 🪢
1) I drape the middle of a length of rope around my neck *for tutorial clarity I am using different coloured strands for each side*
2) I flip a loop in my red strand, ensuring that the working end of my rope rests on top of the crossing
3) I use my finger to pin my natural strand in place underneath my red loop, *resembling a cat's eye or Phi symbol* and find the end of my natural strand with my other hand
4) Now I will create counter clockwise circle with the end of my natural strand, weaving each strand I encounter, beginning by moving OVER the first red strand, UNDER the next red strand, OVER the next red strand, UNDER the natural, and exiting OVER the final red strand in the loop
5) Now I pull the length of my natural strand all the way through this woven circle and adjust my double coin knot until I am satisfied
Now with a double band of rope
Here you can see a series of double coin knots coming together to create a decorative full body tie🪢
The second feature-length 3DCG Lupin III film is now available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video worldwide!
Lupin III VS. Cat’s Eye marks the first time both Monkey Punch’s long-running franchise has crossed over with the world of Tsukasa Hojo’s Cat’s Eye, a series which first hit manga stands in Japan during September 1981.
Since its inception in 1967, Lupin III has crossed over with a variety of different properties, including The Rose of Versailles and Detective Conan / Case Closed. This latest collaboration, however, is the first to receive a worldwide release straight out of the gate—hopefully a good sign of things to come for Lupin fans living abroad.
As part of this worldwide release, several audio dubs are available—including English—for fans to enjoy. The English dub features all the usual Lupin III suspects, including Tony Oliver, Richard Epcar, and more.
