The way Percy Jackson kisses
long lasting.
Hes on the swim team and can breathe underwater. His kisses are so long you feel faint.
His lips are somewhat moist but somewhat dry, he tastes like seawater.
He presses himself closer to you. When you move back, he comes closer and presses harder.
Loves to hear you make some noise while he kisses you--it gives him a confidence boost. He can't really tell if he's doing a good job or not.
Likes to watch you too, keeps his eyes open at some point. If you open your eyes during the kiss, youll just see him give you the most intense eyes ever.
No shame, will kiss in front of others, especially when he feels emotional because he loves you so much.
Keeps his hands on your hips too. Likes the warmth of your body.
When you stop kissing he just loves seeing your face blush. When you get flustered and shy he gets turned on
flirts with his eyes. (dont ask how, he just looks at you and your face gets hot and it feels like hes flirting with you even though hes not). his eyes are just such an intense green color, it feels like he can read your thoughts and can tell what type of effect he has on you.

switching teams - percy jackson
Request: yes! "Hi there! Could I request an enemies to lovers! trope, where the reader is part of the ares halfgods." Pairing:  Percy Jackson x ares!reader Summary:  percy should know better than to try and fight an ares kid Warnings:  a lot of swearing lol, fighting, mentions of blood & injuries Word count:  1.9K A/N: can't wait to see more of dior as clarisse in the show she's such a good actress. thanks for your request, enjoy!
ever since percy got to camp a couple of years ago he's had it out for you. you don't know why, but naturally you decided to respond with the same energy.
he wants to test the ares kid's patience? fine by you.
for some reason he's always arguing with you and you're all to happy to argue back. somehow he knew exactly which buttons to press, how to get on your nerves.
there's always tension between the two of you, which reaches a high during war games like capture the flag. this time is no different.
you're part of team red, following clarisse's lead. percy is on the blue team.
not that it matters, your team is unbeatable. you're proud of your cabin for coming up with the best strategies. you and clarisse always draw up new battle plans, surprising the blue team whenever they think they cracked your plan.
and today you're going to win again. you know it.
you've been walking through your part of the forest, getting rid of any kids of the blue team you run into.
after a while, you think they've all said to each other to avoid certain parts of the wood, given that you don't see anyone for a while.
then you hear talking in the distance. smiling, you grip your sword tighter and creep closer to them.
'let's move, c'mon, these are y/n's parts of the woods.' says one of the kids. you recognise him as someone from the hermes cabin.
'right about that.' you say, jumping over a fallen log and blocking their path.
all three kids widen their eyes and you quickly count their weapons and cabins. two from the hermes cabin and one from athena. a combined total of three swords and a spear. you'll need to take out the athena kid first, they might be able to analyse your fighting style if you're not fast enough.
'I told you!' says one of the hermes kids as you charge them.
you were right, you can tell by the way the athena kid's eyes follow your movements they're trying to analyse your moves. but you catch them off guard and give them a hard shove after kicking one of their legs to the ground.
you make quick work of the hermes kids just in time for your team to run past, carrying the blue flag. you grin at sherman when he runs past with the flag.
'you know what to do!' he says with a wink.
you nod and take off. you're the best sprinter and best swordsman of your cabin.
the plan was simple. once your team got the flag, they would run through your favorite parts of the woods. you would hear them, join them and then run ahead of them, getting rid of any blue team kids in your way and clearing the path for your team.
so that's exactly what you do.
you run to the river, getting rid of any blue team kids you see.
when you see the river in the distance you can't help but to feel a sense of pride. you won again.
but before you can reach the river, something hard knocks you on your back.
before you can get up, someone appears above you, pointing his sword at you and smiling. it's percy. this fucking kid.
you lash out with your sword but percy is quick to block your blow.
'got ya!' he says.
'no you don't.' you say.
he may be pointing a sword at you, but you're not defenceless. with one swift motion, you kick percy's legs, sending him to the ground.
you're quicker, rolling over and pinning his hands to his side. there's no room for him to kick you with his legs.
percy's fighting to get his sword but this time you're stronger. this time, you smile.
'you need to be quicker.' you say. 'and you need to understand we will always win capture the flag.'
'we can still win.' percy argues.
'no, you can't.' you say. 'you're the strongest swordsman on your team. and I've got you pinned to the ground.
'so you admit I'm a stronger swordsman than you!' says percy.
'I said on your team.' you say.
you look up when you hear people cheering in the distance. your team has reached the river, with the blue flag.
'looks like we win again.' you say.
percy looks annoyed. 'get off me, the game is over.'
'say please.'
'fuck off.'
'say please and I'll get up.'
percy rolls his eyes and sighs. 'please, y/n, will you get off me?'
'because you asked nicely.' you say, pushing up off the ground, making sure to accidentally put your weight on percy's legs.
without looking at him again, you take off to celebrate the win with your team.
the next time you're playing capture the flag is three weeks later. you're excited to keep your winning streak going.
just as you've finished putting on your armour and checking all of your weapons, you see percy putting on a chest plate with a red mark on it.
'hey!' you say, getting his attention. 'you're not on our team.'
'yes I am.' he says. 'I already talked it over with clarisse.
'no the fuck you didn't.' you say.
'y/n!'
you look over your shoulder and see clarisse looking at you. she's your best friend, you always train together and she's a great team captain. but this?
'he's on our team.' she says.
'why?'
'because you two are the best swordsmen at camp. it's the logical choice for capture the flag. work together.'
'I will not-'
'not up for discussion. he's on our team, deal with it.'
you turn to percy, walking up to him and giving him a look of pure malice. 'just because you're on our team does not mean I won't hesitate to fight you.' you say.
'no maiming. no killing. especially not your own team members. those are the rules.' says percy.
'I don't care.' you say. 'don't get in my way.'
you hear percy mumble 'fucking ares kids' as you walk away to get into position before the game starts.
as soon as the starting signal sounds, you head to your favorite spot in the woods. there were always some blue kids who thought they could get lucky, but they always run into you.
you're waiting there, your eyes on the path, when you suddenly hear footsteps behind you.
you're just in time to turn around and block the other person's blow.
'you!' you say as you recognise the eyes looking into yours.
'me.' says percy.
'I'm on your fucking team you idiot!'
'I recall you saying it didn't matter.'
'piss off!'
'no.'
percy takes on a fighting stance. he better be fucking kidding. he wants to fight? fine. you can give him that.
'I want to teach you how to become better.' he says.
'at what?'
'sword fighting.'
that's it. it's one thing to attack you from behind. another to tell you he wants to teach you how to be better.
percy knows it's bad fucking luck to claim he's better at fighting than an ares kid. but you've got a tell, and it will get you killed some day.
'you have a tell. let me teach you how to avoid it.'
the nerve he has.
with two quick strides you're in front of him, bringing your sword down on him with all of your strength.
percy blocks it, but his arms are straining underneath the weight of your blow. you really are good.
he swings his sword to your left side but you jump aside and aim the next blow at his legs. he jumps over your sword and kicks you out of the way.
you spin around and attempt to drive your sword through the exposed part of his arm. percy gets out of the way, but only barely.
'you're using your father's strength to guide you.' he says, grunting in between blows of your swords hitting each other.
you don't respond, choosing to save your strength and focus on trying to hit him.
'you're faster than me. you could win.' he says.
fuck him. you are going to win. how dare he question you like this? how dare he question your fighting skills?
you take a step forward, ready to end this fight. but percy kicks your leg out of the way and pushes you, sending you backward.
'you step before you strike.' says percy. 'with your right foot.'
what the fuck?
'I have to give it to you, it took me a while to realise it.'
'been watching me, have you?'
you start to circle him, looking for an opening to strike.
'yes. now start avoiding the step before you strike.'
'I don't need a poseidon kid to teach me how to fight. you're doing this to distract me.'
'is it so hard to believe I actually want to help you? clarisse is right, we'd make a good team. you're almost as good as I am.'
'I can never be a team with someone who insults me to my face.'
'right. never claim to be a better fighter than an ares kid. noted.'
you race forward and strike percy, hoping he doesn't expect it.
he does. he easily blocks your attack.
you're furious. no one is better than you. certainly not percy.
you let your rage take over, going in for another attack, subconsciously taking one step before striking. percy kicks your foot.
you're breathing heavily. he wants to teach you? fine. you keep your footing in place as you strike, catching him off guard.
percy is too surprised and is too late to block your blow. you slice through his upper arm. it's not a very deep cut but it still bleeds. you smile as you see the blood start to slowly trickle down his arm.
you strike again, but only nearly hitting him. you can teach him as well. for instance, his weak point is his legs. you sweep them out from under him. percy falls to the ground as you point your sword to him.
'you're beaten.' you say.
'and you listened to me.' he says.
you hate to admit it, but he did have a point. once you focused on not taking a step before striking, you were able to beat him.
you reach out with your other hand.
percy is eyeing your hand suspiciously.
'I'm pulling you up.' you say. 'the fight is over. I won. I'm not striking an unarmed, beaten opponent.'
percy takes your hand and allows you to pull him to his feet.
'thought you didn't like me.' he says.
'I never said that. you annoy me. but ares kids respect good fighters. you're a good swordsman. and you were right. I have a tell.' you say.
'did you just admit to liking me?' says percy, smiling.
'I also said you're annoying.'
'but you like me.'
'doesn't make you less annoying. now come on, we have a flag to capture.'
the two of you take off to rejoin your team. during the fight, something had changed between the two of you. if percy could point out a flaw you didn't know you had, you're curious to see what else he knows about you that you don't know about yourself.
maybe it's a good thing he convinced clarisse to let him join your team.

clarisse and her velvety voice, which only ever seems to say your name.
clarisse and her innate need to always be near you, just in case you need protecting.
clarisse and her love of being called your knight in shining armor, because she loves living a fairy tale with you.
clarisse and her arms having a mind of their own as they always find a way to be wrapped around your waist.
clarisse and how she has a special spot right under your ear where she always kisses you, so she can whisper a quiet "i love you" in between her kissing.
clarisse and how different she is with you compared to everyone else, making you feel special because you get to see the softer side of her that she hides from everyone else.
clarisse and the fact that one too many people have been on the business end of her magic spear after causing you harm, whether accidental or not.
clarisse and being a fixer girlfriend, always wanting to fix whatever bad mood you may be in as fast as possible, because she can't go without your smiles for very long.
clarisse and how there's now a rule that your two cabins have to be on the same team for capture the flag, because clarisse started playing the game wrong just to ensure that you don't get hurt.
clarisse and the poor apollo kids she's yelled at after they failed to attend to your injuries in favor of quicker and smaller ones to get them out of the infirmary.
clarisse and how CLINGY she is, always wanting to be near you, or touch you, or holding you.
clarisse and her tucking her face into your neck and practically melting into you after a bad day, finding comfort in your warm embrace, wrapping around her and comforting her so well you're almost a little bit concerned.
clarisse and new campers being honestly gobsmacked that the two of you are dating, purely based off of first impressions.
clarisse and the fact that she doesn't hesitate to pick you up and carry you around if you mention that your feet hurt, even if you tell her to put you down, she hates the idea of you being in any sort of pain, so of course this is her solution.
clarisse teaching you how to properly defend yourself, even if you already know, you humor her with her training sessions because you know it makes her feel better and gives her more peace of mind.
clarisse and her begging you to read to her while she lays on your stomach, which is the only way she can nap during the day, and even during the night prefers to fall asleep to your voice.
clarisse and you going back and forth between your respective cabins every night, because clarisse can't bear to be away from you for that long (technically this is against the rules, but it's really for everyone's sake that nobody says anything).
clarisse and how proud of you she is no matter what you do, and how she's not afraid to tell you this either.
clarisse, who gave you her heart the second you two met eyes for the first time.
clarisse, the love of your life.

PJO Show Ares x Child!Reader (no gender specified)
Word count: 2459
Summary: Ares supposedly hates kids, so it’s really strange that he comes when you call. (Do not let the summary fool you, this is not fluff. Based on a dream I had a couple days ago. Warning for possible ooc Ares and brief mentions of abuse. Blink and you’ll miss it type shit)
Tumblr media
“I don't wanna say”, Grover fingers fidgeted with each other as he purposefully avoided eye contact with you.
“We're friends, right?”
“Of course!”
“Then you have to tell me! You spoke to my father, I gotta know what he said! What was he like? I bet he was really cool! Man, I wish I could've been there and talked to him”, you looked down at your shoes and added more misery to your face than was necessary. It was extremely childish and petty but Grover kept refusing to tell you what your father Ares was like. You had to know though. You doubted he brought you up, but you still wanted to know what he said and what he was like when he was just out and about. Grover had the opportunity to have a long talk with him and that was something you'd kill and suffer for.
“I doubt you'd wanna do that” he mumbled, but you heard him.
“Why'd you say that?” You asked.
Grover refused to expound on what he meant… at first.
Everyone knew Grover couldn't hold water so it didn't take too much prodding before he spilled his guts.
The memory replayed in your head more than you'd like to admit, and if it were up to you, you'd no longer be a half blood.
It made you feel pathetic. Tons of gods- no. All the gods were shitty parents. After all, they had children with mortals and left the children on Earth, knowing they'd be hunted down. Plenty of half bloods died in a gruesome painful way and at a young age. Plenty of gods never claimed their children, even if they made it to Camp Half Blood. But Ares did claim you, so you assumed that that meant he cared for you in some way. He even gifted you with a double sided sword. Surely, he must've loved you.
You were foolish and you hated how foolish you were. You should've known he didn't care. He left you here with mortals and watched as your home life got worse and worse which was due to multiple factors including a piss poor mother and step family, the aura children of Ares give off that makes people around them experience rage and of course the random monster attacks that your family blamed you for. It was as if they thought you begged Ares to be his child. As if you'd ever do something as stupid as that.
The rain soaked through your hood, making your hair all wet and gross. You were an idiot. You tried coming home for the school year, thinking maybe your family changed. They said they did. They tended to lie a lot though. You got into a huge fight and stormed out and you were in such a hurry that you completely forgot to grab your pouch full of drachmas and you didn't wanna step another foot in that house. So now here you were, outside with freezing cold hands that couldn't be warmed because your hoodie was soaking and you couldn't call Chiron. Perfect.
You checked your pockets once again, hoping to find something other than the lighter and fruit roll up that was there but alas, nothing magically appeared. You held the two objects in your hand and an idea formed in your mind.
You could always set the fruit roll up on fire as an offering. You could pray to your father and hope he hears you and sends you something to help.
No. That's incredibly stupid. Could you even light a fruit roll up on fire? It didn't matter. Not only was that the stupidest offering ever but you refused to pray to him. You'd rather sleep out in the rain then sneak inside when your family was gone to get your shit.
You put the two objects in your pocket and let your head rest on your knees, exhaustion hitting. It wasn't even physical exhaustion. It was all mental and emotional. Like a leech was sucking on you constantly. Or a vampire. You'd prefer that. At least you'd die quicker.
The hum of a motorcycle filled your ears, getting closer and closer. Best case scenario, it was a neighbor. Worst case scenario, it was a murderer. Honestly, you'd welcome both.
The hum stopped and a familiar voice made you look up, “rough night”.
It was him. Ares. God of war. Father to who knew how many. It was someone you definitely did not want to see… or so you thought. Part of you absolutely despised him now and everything to do with him and wanted to rip him apart. The other part of you though still felt an immense amount of joy when you saw him and you wanted to cling to him like a child clings to its favorite toy. If you were alone, you would've screamed.
Then a thought crossed your mind. You didn't burn anything. You didn't make an offering.
“You were going to” he said, seeming to read your mind.
“Why are you here?” you managed to get out after some time of just staring at him.
“Why do you think I'm here?” he asked and you could tell by his tone he meant it sarcastically. Like “the reason is so obvious. Stop being stupid”.
Something about that sarcastic and irritated tone made you think back to what Grover told you.
“Why don't you like me?” You asked and you hadn't meant to. It was supposed to stay in your head.
He squinted his eyes at you and looked you up and down, “what?”.
You could've let it go. You could've said nevermind, thanked him and let him help. You couldn't though. You didn't know when you'd have this chance again (the camp visited them but damn, there was a lot of you) and if you did something to make him not like you, you wanted to fix it. But that wasn't your job, right? Parents are supposed to care for their kids.
You did that a lot. Your mind juggled opposite thoughts and it drove you insane. This was just the latest bit of juggling you'd been doing.
“Grover said he spoke to you-”
“Who is Grover?”
“Percy's friend. The satyr”. A look of anger flashed in his eyes. You knew he remembered Percy. You didn't give him time to start yelling about the 12 year old that beat him in a fight. “Grover said that he spoke to you. I asked what it was like and he said that you said that you hate kids. Even your own. And when we visit, it's the worst day of the year. So, I was just wondering why you don't like me. Is it something I've done?”.
Ares just rolled his eyes and sighed, “you're taking that personal?”.
“It's kinda hard not to”.
“I came to take you back to camp, not talk about whatever crisis you're having right now”.
You didn't know if you were angry because of what he said, or because of his effect on others. Either way, blood started rushing to your head. “I'm not asking for a lot. I'm asking for an answer. A simple answer. Why don't you like me?”
“I don't like any of my kids”
“And that makes it better?” You asked in disbelief. Ares just stared at you, emotion void on his face.
“Why do you do this? You keep having kids even though you hate them. Why?”.
“It's not that simple and I don't have to explain anything to you”. You wished he'd show emotion. Any sliver of it. He was too calm, too numb. You'd prefer him yelling at you but nothing seemed to phase him. He was talking to you the same way you'd talk to a toddler.
“It is incredibly simple. Just stop having sex with mortals. You already have Aphrodite -who is a married woman but whatever-” you rushed the last part. You didn't particularly care for the affairs between the gods. “How could your eyes possibly wander?”.
Seeing him show a sliver of anger when you mentioned Aphrodite only filled you with more rage. That’s what angered him? That’s what got emotion out of him? “Really? That's what gets you? What about me being drenched?”
“You chose to come out here” he said through gritted teeth. If you knew Aphrodite was the key to him showing any piece of human emotion, you would've brought her up earlier.
“I didn't choose this!” Your voice rose, “I didn't choose to be abandoned by my father and be stuck with a dysfunctional family for the rest of my life. You should be angry at that, not me mentioning Aphrodite. You should be enraged at the thought of anyone putting their hands on me and your hands should be covered in their blood! That is how it should be”.
“Believe it or not the gods aren't too keen on the idea of killing mortals”
“But turning them into various objects and ruining their lives when it's a boring Tuesday is ok?”. His face went back to being blank and emotionless and your plan to stop talking was scrapped. You weren't even sure what you wanted. You wanted him to show something besides anger. Sadness? Regret maybe? Just something to show that maybe, just maybe, he cared deep down and regretted leaving you.
“None of us asked for this. You all just decide to create and leave us. And you hating the people you created is… I don't know. And it's so stupid that I've spent years of my life trying to get you to be proud of me, only for it to be impossible!”.
“I claimed you didn't I?” he defended himself, but you scoffed.
“That's the bare minimum dad! That's like saying your kids should be grateful because you feed them!” You were full on screaming by now and you wouldn't have been surprised if a neighbor came out to see what the fuss was about. “I don't even know why I'm having this conversation with you. You probably hate being called 'dad’ and you don't care. You're never gonna get it”
“I try everyday to make you see me and you do everything in your power to not see me. To not see any of us. I would work myself to death for you. I would betray anyone close to me for you. If you asked me to burn down the world for you, I would. If you asked me to extinguish the sun, I'd find a way to because to me… to me you were everything. You are everything”.
You couldn't tell if your face was wet from the rain, or from tears of sorrow and anger. It could've been both. Your eyes certainly stung and you hated it. You knew you had every right to be frustrated, but you hated how weak it made you feel. The children of Ares weren't supposed to cry. They were supposed to be headstrong and fight their enemies. They were supposed to be fierce warriors capable of bringing armies down to their knees. They were meant to shed blood, not tears.
You thought for a second you saw an emotion cross his face. You couldn't pinpoint it though. It happened too fast and there was a good chance you were imagining things.
“You can go. I'd rather sleep in the rain. I wouldn't wanna be even more of a burden” you spat with such venom you didn't know it was possible. Sure, you could have a bit of a temper but this felt different. It wasn't just anger or annoyance. There was a mix of grieving.
It went silent for awhile, and the adrenaline you felt slowly went down. Reality started to sink in. You just yelled at a god. People who were known to cause destruction for something as small as “I think my shoes are better than yours”.
“Are you gonna curse me? Or, I don't know, strangle me with my own shoe laces?”. Ares reached into his pocket and you looked away and closed your eyes. You expected to feel a burning sensation. That's what you assumed being cursed was like. A burning sensation and then you'd lose a limb or something.
All you felt was something land on your lap. You looked down and saw a red pouch with gold string keeping it closed. You looked up at him, but he didn't say anything. You untied the string and opened the pouch and inside laid a pile of drachmas.
Now he spoke, “call Chiron or whoever else works at that camp. Don't die out here”.
“You're leaving?” You asked. You didn't know why you were disappointed. You should've been happy. After all, you just went off on him about how shit he was.
“I have a busy schedule”. You wanted to ask if he'd be seeing the married woman he slept with or another unfortunate mortal, but you figured you pushed your luck enough today.
“Thanks uhh…” you debated on calling him dad but instead you called him by his name. “Ares”. Then you remembered some gods could be particularly upset when you used their name. “God of war and all those other honorifics”.
“Yeah” was all he said before he sped off, leaving you alone once again. You didn't know what he was saying “yeah” to but you didn't have enough time to ask and he probably wouldn't even answer.
You called Chiron and asked to be brought back to camp but you didn't tell him about the conversation you had with Ares.
You couldn't get the conversation out of your head, even after you showered and laid down to finally get some rest.
Of course you kept thinking about the conversation and how lucky you were Ares didn't throw you into the street and run you over.
Another thing stayed on your mind though.
You didn't give an offering. You were told the gods would listen if you burned something that mattered, like the thickest piece of meat on your plate. You weren't sure they were actually listening and honestly you thought it was a real asshole condition.
All you had was some stupid candy and you didn't even burn that and the minute you thought about it, he appeared like he was already watching.
But you doubted he was watching. You doubted he listened to your prayers at all.
You were one of his children which was something he hated. He'd claim you, possibly send a gift then be done with you. He didn't listen to you anymore. He didn't watch over you anymore.
It was a coincidence. That's all it was.
You were sure of it.
At least, you tried to be.
This is definitely ooc Ares but YA’LL KNOW I’M A LITTLE FUCKING SLOW! BE PATIENT WITH ME GOTDAMMIT😭 If you saw any errors, no you did not. I already proofread it once and I don’t feel like doing it again like I typically do. It’s 1am. I should be asleep.

Clarisse La Rue meeting & dating!Child of Apollo! Reader
Tumblr media
- Clarisse hated the children of Apollo. Most of them were; in her words ‘Wussies that are afraid of the dark.’ But when she laid eyes on you during your first day of camp, Those thoughts shifted a bit. Especially when you destroyed Luke in sword fighting.
- Congrats, you’ve gained a bit of respect from her. That doesn’t mean she won’t mess with you though.
^ Speaking of messing with, if you stand up for yourself/anyone she will hold a grudge against you. You embarrassed her!
- Clarisse is very distant about her feelings, so when that crush begins to form she will go out of her way to stay away from you.
- Poor girl is confused, why does she think you look pretty getting out of the lake!? She’s an Ares kid, she can’t be having thoughts like these!
- But of course, she couldn’t stay away from you forever. Clarisse absolutely despised how the Ares kids enjoyed sitting across from Apollos, and she especially hated how you and Percy got along so well.
- As Clarisse sat across from you, her mind began to race with the thoughts of possibilities.
- What if she did talk to you? What if she did tell you how she felt? Her mind plays the scenario again and again. She’s so tempted to go over there, So badly she wants to and when she closes her eyes and opens them again. She’s still staring, She’s still watching, She’s still so tempted.
- Her siblings (being the assholes they are) noticed this and taunted Clarisse until word got out, and eventually reached you.
- And later that night after an embarrassing confession, the two of you shared a kiss on the empty docs.
DATING HCS:
- She's not a fan of romance or intimacy, but she does enjoy having a partner who can match her energy and keep up with her adventurous personality.
^ She does show affection though, mostly through tiny trinkets she finds around camp (pebbles, leaves, and Jewellery she may or may not steal from the Aphrodite kids.)
- Going on walks through the forest
- Clarisse is a very protective person, She gets pissy if anyone she doesn’t like goes near you (including her half-siblings.)
- having to stop her from bullying new kids (*cough cough* Percy Jackson *cough cough*)
- sneaking into her cabin after nightmares (or vice versa.)
- she loves to brag about you, any major or minor accomplishments are flexed in her siblings faces.
“My s/o can do more sit ups then you.” “They beat me in a sword fight!” “They learned how to sew!”
- Constantly trying to impress you, probably says “babe! Did you see that!” Ever 5 seconds when she’s training
- peels your oranges without question

Ares, the God of War, never had time to ‘play around’ with his children. Yes, he claims them as his own, but what would you expect from a god? Almost all the gods could care less about their children. They would be born just to fear for their lives, as disgusting creatures hunted them down like animals.
You found it strange how your father often visits you while you’re on a quest. This was an unexpected change from God. Had you finally gotten his recognition? Had he finally decided that you were worthy of his time?
“I don’t want any excuses, child!” His voice boomed through the training area.
You wouldn’t even call it a training area; all that was there were trees and a drawing of a circle that was to resemble an arena. You could see his eyes glow beneath his glasses, with flames dancing around them.
The God of War stared at you, a shiver running down your spine as you tried to steady your breathing after a grueling combat session. Blood slowly dripped down your face, a reminder of you failing to protect your face from your father's attacks. He never said he was going to go tough on you.
Ares scoffed, the air crackling with tension. “Training? You call that training?” He rolled his eyes(?), arms crossed in front of his chest, as he stood with pride. “What we did there was real training, child of mine.”
“You carry the blood of warriors, yet you fight like a novice.” He added more salt to the wound, as if that wouldn’t lower your self-esteem even lower. “Pick up your sword.”
It wasn’t an order; it was a command. He was commanding you to do it. And like the good child you are, you did what he said.
With a nod, you hastily grabbed the sword before looking back at God, who impatiently waited, tapping his leather shoe against the ground. “Can’t we do this another time?” You tried to reason with him. Your body was exhausted and needed a break from his tough training. This wasn’t like the training back at Camp Half-Blood.
“Would you rather spend your whole life being chased around by Harpies with zero experience in fighting?” He growled, making his way toward you. You could never tell what he was feeling due to those pesky sunglasses. If he was trying to get you to be afraid, well, he was doing a good job at that.
You could practically feel the ground shake with every step he took as he advanced towards you. Surely he wouldn’t dare to hurt one of his children again, right? You failed to notice how the blood had somehow disappeared, only leaving a scar on your cheek.
The flames behind his sunglasses flickered with anger. “Well?” said he, waiting for your response. The God of War never liked to wait, but it seemed like you were an exception. “No… father.” Lowering your head in despair. Had all of your hopes and dreams gone to waste? Why was it so hard to please your father? Numorous, unanswered questions clouded your mind.
You looked up in confusion once you felt a hand on your head. What was this, you thought. A smirk made its way to God’s face as he saw your bewildered look. Was this the way he shows his affection for his children? You couldn't help but smile at the God of War, feeling a little bit of pride come back to you.
“Don’t tell the others, yeah? Keep this a secret between the two of us. I’ll get you whatever you want if it keeps your mouth shut, little one.”
The flames in his eye sockets seemed to have calmed down as you watched them faintly glow.
Little one? Was your brain playing tricks on you, or was this all but a dream? Ares, God of War, giving you a nickname? You had to cherish this moment. Who knew it took this long for Ares to warm up to one of his children? Certainly, you didn't.
The god sighed before he kneeled down. He, ever so gently, placed his hand on your arm, a warm sensation spreading throughout your body. “Don’t do anything stupid, alright? Don’t go around thinking’ you can destroy whatever beast is out there,” said Ares.
Is this what it feels like to be loved by your father?
“You are still human, not a god. You’re not immortal like us.” Oh, to see the look on your siblings's faces once they find out where you've been this entire time. The perks of being the favorite, I guess!
“Why are you telling me this?" You couldn’t help but ask, staring into your father’s shades as he awkwardly rubbed your arm. His touch was… warm and fatherly, something you couldn't even describe.
He raised an eyebrow, baffled by the sudden question. “Well, squirt, despite this chaotic world we are forced to live in, I still... care for my children.” He placed his finger on your lips, silencing you from asking more questions. You silently glared at him as you thought about biting your father’s finger.
It wasn't like you were going to be rambling over how he hadn't been there for you a single time in your life!
Well, it was fun while it lasted. If only these moments could happen every once a week rather than once a month.
The God then shook his head. “We are wasting time.” Standing back up before he lifted you up from the back of your shirt. It was like you were a five-year-old all over again. You hadn't realized that your idol was a god this entire time.
“Pay attention, because I’m not going to repeat myself twice,” said Ares, confidently making his way to the opposite side of the said arena. “The first rule is to never show any weakness to your enemy. They could use that to their advantage. Now, shall we begin?”
With a simple nod, Ares smirked once again, his heart slowly beginning to warm up.

How about another (Greek Myth) Yandere!Ares (platonic ofc) having child!reader who has very destructive power like everytime reader would dance she cause destruction through the whole place and is seen as a villain and is often (most likely everytime) is being bullied because of it when they were a child like y'know the usual
"Anyone who messes with you will be dead in seconds." - Ares.
❝⚔️— lady l: I made in form of an hc, I hope that's ok, since it wasn't specified xD anyway, I am hoping you like it, anon <3
❝⚔️ tw: yandere themes in general, mention of murder, torture, blood, kidnap and bullying.
Tumblr media
It is absolutely necessary to say that Ares is an extremely proud father. From you, in case. None of their other children, not even Eros, have made him as proud as you do. You are everything the god adores, powerful, dangerous and deadly.
You've become his favorite child and he doesn't even try to hide his preference over his other children. None of them mattered, you did. You are the apple of your father's eye and he favors you greatly.
Ares loves to see the chaos you cause, how you blow things up, destroy everything and make victims of these tragedies. He almost weeps with pride at how much like him you are.
He laughs every time you blow something up, he claps when he sees the fire and people screaming in desperation. It's heaven as far as he's concerned and knowing that you, his child, were the one who caused it all only makes him happier and more satisfied.
However, he feels bad and confused when he sees you sad and downcast. Ares knows it's not easy to have that much power, though he doesn't really understand why you despair every time you get out of control. In your father's opinion, you should be happy and not sad. Ares doesn't understand that not everyone likes to hear and see things exploding and people dying.
When Ares finds out you're being bullied, he's furious and mad. His eyes glowed with hate and you could have sworn you saw the red color in them. Ares wanted and would kill whoever was bullying you. How dare they? Are they foolish enough to try to hurt the god of war's favorite child? Or do they just possess the death wish? No matter anymore, Ares would make them regret it.
You weren't a villain, no, you are Ares's perfect child and he would tell that you as much as it took to make you understand it.
Because of your lack of control you have over your powers, you would always dance in secluded places. You are a great dancer, although you stopped for a while because of the catastrophes that occurred. But Ares, like a good father, would encourage you to go back to dancing, and altought he doesn't like the idea, he'd even take you to a war camp if it made you feel better.
Ares is a brute. He is not good at comforting people, especially children, but he tries and strives to be kinder and soft with you. Smiling as gently as he could, wiping away all the blood he had on his armor, softening the steely gaze he possesses, hugging you gently as he whispers words of encouragement to you.
You will not be allowed to be romantically involved with anyone, let that be clear. Ares will allow you to grow but will ward off any suitors, similar to what Demeter did with Persephone, threats and promises of death will be made and it's not like anyone is going to try to go against the god of war. Ares would go so far as to ask Aphrodite not to make you fall in love with anyone. He can't take the risk of you replacing him, and even if you fell in love with someone, Ares would make his son Eros shoot a lead arrow at them. You will be with your father, safe and loved, away from any man or woman who takes an interest in you.
Ares would do anything for you, no matter what. He would be tolerant and loving towards you, his beloved and perfect child. Ares loves to see the destruction your power wreaks and when you grow up you would definitely drag you into war with him. But you'd stick with him, Ares can't risk getting you hurt, and if you still end up almost getting murdered by some soldier, well, you could say that soldier's country would be turned to ash. That's what they get for hurting his baby.

percy x gn!reader taking a hit for him and almost dying while fighting a villian? if this makes you uncomfy no need to do it!
Percy Jackson x Gn!reader taking a hit, while fighting and getting critically injured/near death experience
It happened before he saw it. He only heard you grunt as you made your blow on the 6-foot monster. Its talions scraping the earth as it lashed around trying to snag the duo--But given !reader´s size they had the upperhand by being able to duck between the monsters legs and tail--far away from its humongous claws. This was until it had managed to scrape its long claws in !readers direction, wounding their leg so their knees buckled unexpectedly. They staggered as they tried to maintain their alance, as they whipped their head around they were met with a giant hand that grabbed them and squeezed really hard around their torso. Percy lept forward and slashed its fingers off, setting the !reader free. But it hurts somewhere deep in their hest and everytime they took a breath it made a very weird scratchy-rattling noise.
Then they saw it, Percy trying to distract it by slashing it repeatedly, like what he had once done with the practicing-dummy, and he ran in circles to make it lose its breath--but when Percy jumped and rolled out of its way, the monsters tail hit Percy hard enough for him to slam into the nearest wall in the cave. that wall being a 10 meters away. By some miracle, there was a river nearby, in which Percy would heal himself with--but they couldnt help your instincts screaming to save him. The !reader dashed across the hard stoned floor and managed to get a bad, long claw mark puncturing the flesh and bones that were there while trying to protect Percy. They looked down and saw that the claws had been able to not only scrape the flesh, but also gone straight through t heir body. Their torso immedietly ingulfed in hot red. It burned. They were downed, but only for a moment, before Percy unleashed a godlike tsunami that knocked the monster back until it fell on its butt from the wave. The next moments are a bit of a blur since !reader were laying far away from the fight. But here we are.
Headcanons: (you didnt specify if it was friend or as lovers, so were doing a bit of both + neutral ones)
Percy abandoned riptide on the ground as he ran back towards !reader, his anger faded into true worry.
"Cmon, cmon!" he muttered, as he dug through a bag of medical supplies. but it was only filled with ambrosia and nectar, which wasnt that useful with holes in peoples bodies and usually only used for wounds. Either way,
Percy gave it to !reader to keep them atleast sane from the pain.
The reader would definetly be thrashing in pain and full on screaming.
Percy would be sweating more than any normal, greasy teenager on earth in that moment-his hands shaking with shock.
He would get flashbacks to when he had nightmares of Sally getting beat up, even though he never saw that happen. "Our little secret"-Gabe would tell Percy but who knew?, maybe Sally went through physical abuse too?
He pulled himself together, shaking his head, his hair tousled in the way !reader liked, only this wasnt the appropriate scenario to think about how his appearance was better-than-most-boys.
Percy lifted !readers body and ran out of the cave, stumbled only a tiny bit because his body cant keep up with his mind.
He would be thinking about the way back, following familiar landscaped.
The background would just smush together-so the !reader wouldnt really know if Percy was getting close to somewhere with proper supplies.
Percy glanced down with a panicked expression and a frown while the !reader gurgled (trying to talk but its futile).
At some point !reader would choke on their own blood and Percy would stop almost slipping on the grass, lifting your torso a bit higher and forward. !reader grabbed hard onto Percys bicep, to get some control of themselves.
With only woods in the area and Camp Jupiter and Camp Half-blood being miles away (this was a quest after all),
his best bet would be to try to locate the sea. He would close his eyes, imagining the soft waves crashing-
but it only looked like a typhoon to him because of stress and hidden anger-he would hear it and sense it somewhere further away.
He quickly started running, his breath heavy-barely breathing, and his body sluggish almost dropping you out of exhaustion on his part but pure determination keeping your body lifted.
He dug his fingers in the !readers legs and he ran as fast as his heart could beat.
Imagine if he tripped on a root, barely even able to stutter an apology because hes so out of breath and having the urge to cry out of frustration.
If they died, he would never forgive himself.
Miracles happen, even to the unfortunate, he sees the sea closing in.
He uses his powers to draw a giant tide to engulf !reader in it, putting as much water pressure in their wound on both sides on the body to keep the blood inside.
He would just jump into the tide, wrapping himself and them into a water bubble.
Percy might have been on the swimming team and he might have jumped from 50meters in the sky and into water from Blackjacks back--
but this was the fastest and craziest thing he had ever done. Fishes in the area would splutter away from the intensity.
No creature had even time to see what they were seeing, t
it looked like a water bubble moving faster than the speed of light-Percy swam so fast they werent sure if they had truly sense the Prince of Poseidon here.
But even so, rumours spread quickly, "The son of Poseidon carving out a path in the ocean, [...]..creating a mess..."
He got himself to the palace of his father, dempanded attention immedietly. His wife, being home at all times, wathced from the altar the morificating sight of a pale, and weak body hanging on for dear life-she could sense death was closing in. But she wasnt going to let someone Percy truly cared about die while she was there.
She swam lightning fast to collect what she needed and got straight to work.
No words were spoken, nothing had to be said, Percys green eyes glowed as he watched from the ocean ground, !reader getting treatment while he stood powerless. Yet again, he had been made of pawn for the gods.
Percy would sit his ass down so fast on that damn throne and scream Poseidons name, thats right, not father. Just Poseidon.
His screamed carried out for miles in the ocean. Not even the God himself could ignore such a strong cry.
"What is it tha--" Poseidon couldnt finish his sentence when he saw a rage so deep on his sons face he almost didnt want to know why or who managed to set him off so badly.
"Fix it." Anger rushed in Percys vains, he could only take countless deep breaths, keeping his fists close to his sides and biting back a sneer. Poseidon looked taken aback, fix what?
The Seagod then glanced to the right and saw an unknown stranger in his temple, laying on the ground as countless creatures tried to help, fish, stingrays, shark, even mythical being helped with the treatment and tried to reassure Amphitrite that she was only doing her best.
"My son-" Poseidon couldnt make miracles, he cant just hand them out. Percy knew that, but he still cut him off because he didnt want to hear the same old words.
"Gods do not meddle in mortal affairs. That is why we are Gods". Percy couldnt help but have bitter thoughts to that.
"At least, make the hole disappear". Percy threw out his hand sin frustration, water starting to bubble around him as the temperature increased and his eyes glowed green in the ambient temple that was only lit by a couple of lanters/torches nearby.
"I understand youre angry but--" Poseidon would argue against him, even his son. Percy threaten to ask for help on his knees in front of another Gods and put shame on the family´s name, telling others that "not even Poseidon himself could do anything".
In the end, Poseidon had no choice. With a flick on the Gods hand and a wave with his tridant, !reader would escape from death this time.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
While the reader was passed out, because fo the amount of Godly help they got, their body was completely exhausted and fatigued of the amount of power that suddenly washed over them.
Percy floated back and forth rapidly, pulling his jet black hair apart.
The room seemed to grow hot and cold as if it didnt know which temperature it really was supposed to take.
The air buzzed with energy and grew somewhat tense, the sound of water was loud, vibrating - instead of a distant hum.
On land, boats would suffer tide after tsunami, making an appearance on the local news. "Giant wave warning! Dont go near the beach!". Some newsreporters were even saying that some evacuation mihgt be neaded, because the beach was suffering a flood.
The colour of the ocean had somewhat changed, at least where Percy was. The colour that was once bright and a pretty blue, were now a disgusting murky colour that looked like it had been filthy with trash.
As time passed Percy would suffer mental breakdowns and feel nauseous from replaying what had happened.
His stepmother would leave Percy alone, figuring that she didnt want to face his wrath.
After about two hours, when they had awoken, they could see a blurred image of a person sitting down on their bed. Percys was leaning his head in his lap and kept putting pressure against his head from a mighty headache he had given himself. His eyes shut and the buzzing in his ears muffling any sound of movement from !reader.
"Mh.!" One sound was all it took for Percy to make him pause and pull himself out of his chaotic headspace, before a look of relief washed over him.
It was almost cute how easily he gets happy when !reader is okay. Imagine a character from a TV-series seeing their loved one again is alive, its beautiful.
Percys eyes had a shimmer to them now, glossy from relieved happiness. He pulled them into a tight hug before he harshly pulled himself away, scared he might hurt you.
But them remember that that wasnt possible since they had fully healed.
"Ah.." Percy sighed in disbelief as he laid his eyes upon them. They were okay. A lonely tear ran down his cheek and they ushered him forward with outstretched arms.
A hug can say so much. It speaks on so many volumes. youre here. youre alive. thank god. oh my god i cant believe this. stop, this cant be real. oh my god. please dont leave me again.
He had a hard time talking after that. He kept hiccuping as he sobbed harder by the second. His body shook and seemed to incredibly frail, !reader could only wrap reassuring arms around him.
In the end, Percy would lay comfortably on the bed, next to them. And fall asleep from the events that had happened that very day.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was mentally exhausting how much he loved them. Not just to a normal degree, but to every single level. Percy just loves the people he holds close to much, he gets overwehlmed.
When he only had Grover in school, he could only rely on him. Annabeth and Tyson came and he finally had the power to protect. This time however, it had failed him. He couldnt protect them.
After this, Percy would train himself broken and damaged until he was sure that he could throw himself in front of them if it ever were to happen. Or that he could, perhaps manage to get on his feet faster or duck quicker and become more agile.
He would ask Chiron to train him or give him personal constructive criticism, but Chiron tells him hes already great-and cannot give anything.
Percy would pull so many muscles, slashing his sword with a brooding look on his face. He imagined it. over and over and over again. That monster that he couldnt defeat.
Because the fact that he couldnt protect them meant that he couldnt protect anyone. A failure to protect the people around him, is a failed quest.
He took it as a personal insult to his skill and who he is as a person.
He would ask Annabeth for battle strategies, insput on anything he can take in.
Spend time observing the !reader became a habit. Almost in a controlling or anxious way. He started doing in a subconscious way too. During dinner, his eyes would glaze upon the open area of tables, searching for them and making sure theyre safe.
After this incident, his eyes kept searching for danger. Anythign that could potentially ruin his peace.
If !reader was a lover, he would sneak into their bedroom to sleep in their bed. He had never done that before prior to the relationship but his anxiety would let him rest, he needed to be there.
He could also be more into PDA, slinging an arm around his friend / s/o´s shoulders as a way to ground himself.
He would feel the safest at sea and in his own cabin room, where he could truly have control.
At night, with Blackjack he would make sure the camp was safe and that the sea would be calm because any loud tides or tsunamis would distract him if there were potential threats.

II. CAPTURE THE FLAG
Percy J. x Child of Ares!Reader
ODDS AND ENDS MASTERLIST
Chapter 1 here
Tumblr media
[this chapter is pretty long btw!]
Today was another boring old Friday, you groaned as you woke up and heard the other cabin mates laughing. “Oh shut up its 7am!” You yell covering your ears with your pillow. That only caused them to start talking louder. You walked over to the huge closet you guys had and grabbed your clothing and went into the bathroom to change.
Leaving the cabin with your hands in your jacket’s pockets you walked off to talk to Annabeth. It was either that she was with her cabin mates or with that new kid, it’s been a few days since he got here. Yes you beat him in wrestling, but when it came to swordsman ship? He knew a thing or two, that made you jealous- like really jealous. You kicked a rock out of frustration and you finally came up to Athena’s cabin and knocked on the door. Annabeth opened up.
“Hey, I was wondering if you wanted to walk to breakfast together?” The soft smile you gave to her was only for her and Luke, no one else needed to see it. She gave a quick nod and closed the door, she usually does that- just to put on her shoes. After a minute she opens the door and you guys both walk off to the tables.
“You know capture the flag is today, right Y/N?” One of your cabin mates say, you roll your eyes realizing that they’re going to say something stupid again. “Yeah against Athena’s and Hermes’ cabin! Guess you can’t say hi to your friends now!” Clarisse butts in nudging your shoulder. “Yeah thanks for reminding me…” you bite into the bread and stare off to Hermes table. You eyes try to look at Luke to see what he was saying but they diverted to Percy. The unclaimed guy, you couldn’t imagine him getting claimed- but it would be nice to see someone else here that doesn’t feel like they belong.
“Looking at Prissy?” Your cabin mate Alex asks. “His name is Percy, and no I wasn’t.” You bring up your voice, they love picking on you even though you’re their half-sibling. They didn’t see it that way though. “You’re weird Y/N, weird…” He states laughing. If anything these people didn’t have manners, you sure as hell didn’t have a mom that would take care of you but yet you knew to have manners.
The rest of Ares cabin would go home when the summer ended yet you stayed. You were an all-rounder like 20 other kids at camp. Some of them didn’t have parents that would look after them, Luke and Annabeth stayed at camp with you. That’s why you were so close with them, when you were getting to camp you dealt with so many blockages and troubles the two of them felt bad and wanted to help you. For the first month you were stuck in Hermes cabin, until you got the sign that your dad was Ares. Clarisse was picking on you as usual and you finally stood up for yourself. Like actually put up a fight with her and won it. It was a one in a lifetime event, literally. The only reason why you were seen to be his daughter was because a vulture feather fell to your feet. Clarisse had seen it and pointed it out, she was in rage that you were in the same cabin as her. You smirked it off and felt it gave you some power. Luke wasn’t too happy that you were leaving his cabin but you felt happy to be claimed, but you weren’t given a spear like your other cabin mates, you were given a feather that was tied to your home made one.
“I seriously don’t want to fight you Annabeth…” You state grabbing her arm, she places a hand on yours. “It’ll be fine, just don’t go slashing any of my cabin mates.” She says with a smile, now that hurt a little. You let go and nod and she goes on her way. Walking off, you go to archery practice with some of Apollo cabin since they were teaching some of the kids.
After that you tried doing some swordsman ship with Luke’s teaching. Yes there were other kids there that made you self conscious but you tried your best to get rid of that feeling. You held your sword close with a tight grip, your armor making scraping noises each time you moved. The air was cold, you couldn’t wear your jacket for this activity. Luke says his usual sayings before starting like “Don’t kill anyone, that’ll be put on me- and their family will not want to hear the news” he would always repeat. Many of the guys and few girls nodded.
Luke was the best swordsman in 300 years is what Annabeth would tell you. Honestly she wasn’t wrong, the guy knew a thing or two on how to fight. You studied his movements, he would step back only when it was necessary and attack most of the time with defense attacks in between. You tried your best to follow these movements but it only resulted in you attacking more than defending yourself.
“Who wants to go up next? No one?” It was dead silent, not after Luke just took out the last guy in a second. “Y/N, come up!” He said, you looked terrified. A course of “Yeah Y/N!” and “We’ll have her for dinner afterwards!” came up and about. “Come on Y/N, I’ll take it easy on you.” you knew he was lying, there’s no way he’ll go easy. You got to camp 2 years ago now, you should’ve learned like the rest but you were slow. This frightened you, maybe Ares had claimed the wrong kid? Maybe this was one of his sick jokes.
You walk forward and get put into position, quickly making the first move. Swords clink and so do the shields. Sending a quick hit towards Luke’s chest plate he moves back for your reach. ‘Shit..’ you thought placing the shield in front of you to block his attack. The goal was to tap the chest plate from either the back or front of the opponent. You usually never lasted this long, this was a first.
“Come on Y/N! You can do it!” You hear quickly snapping your head back you see its Percy rooting you on and just like that-
Tap
Your chest plate gets tapped on by Luke’s sword. Turning your head you see him smirk. “Too distracted Y/N.” Luke states, you look at him in disbelief. Nodding you walk away and grab Percy along as well. “Oh I have it out for you now.” He looks frightened.
“I wasn’t trying to distract you!” Percy retaliates, you have him pushed up against a wall behind one of the cabins. You have him by his shirt and lifting him a little off the ground, he was basically at your height now. The kid was shorter than you by two inches. “I looked like a fool in front of Luke and the others! Do you not know how I have to keep my image up here? I don’t need someone cheering me on, I have myself already.” He looks at you in disbelief, “Image?” he questions. “Yes, I’m in Ares cabin- I think I shouldn’t look weak and helpless.” You let go of him and he quickly fixes himself up. “Just don’t get in my way during capture the flag tonight.” You state taking off your chest plate and walking away to put it back at the armory. Percy looked at you leaving, he wondered why you were so harsh in general.
“Ares team has some of the ugliest kids!” The guy next to Percy whispered to him, he wanted to nod, but he couldn’t. “Yeah, most- but not all.” The Hermes kid looked at him as if he were crazy. “I mean yeah- they’re gross…” he says crossing his arms and getting ready into position.
“Y/N, don’t do much, you’ll allow us to lose.” Clarisse states pushing you a little, your body doesn’t move but it sure does push back. She grunts and looks forward again. She always picked on you after that fight you had with her when you had gotten here, guess she wasn’t over it. As the teams got called you could see Percy talking with Annabeth, she was giving him one worded responses and he kept on asking. Your team walked to the north side of the woods while the Blue Team went to the south side. A bug was in your stomach, you had a strange feeling about tonight.
“Cream the punk!” Clarisse screamed. She made you get put into the group of five, guess she wanted you to man-up or whatever it’s called. As you were running your eyes quickly adjusted and saw that it was Percy who the punk was. Your eyes widened, Clarisse and the other three were already a little ahead of you. They screamed while Percy tried to doge their attacks. Clarisse used her electric spear on him, Gods that must have hurt. You push her back, “Hey don’t fry the guy!” Clarisse looks at you confused, she did still frighten you even if you stood up to her.
One of your cabin mates pulls you up by under your arms so you’re off the ground. The others slammed him into the ground laughing. You didn’t know why you were protecting this guy, you had no reason to be he was on the other team. Clarisse was about to hit him with her spear but he grabbed his sword quickly. It was still tossed away from his grip.
“Let go of me!” You yelled kicking back and forth. Clarisse laughed, “Oh wow! I’m so afraid of this guy!” She spat at Percy. “The flag is the other way.” He states, one of her siblings laugh. “But see, we don't care about the flag. We care about a guy who made our cabin look stupid.” he stated while diverting his eyes to you as well. You sighed and stopped fighting.
A slash was put onto Percy’s arm, there was blood that seeped into his shirt fast and all he could say was, “No maiming..” They pushed him into the creek and let go of me. They charged at Percy but in a flash he was up and protecting himself. The slash that was once on his arm now disappeared, your eyes widened. You couldn’t believe it! He was hitting him one by one with good hits, once it got to Clarisse though-
SNAP !
Her spear snapped like a twig! “Holy shit..” is all you could mutter out. Percy knocked her out of the creek’s water and onto the land. You could hear Luke’s cheering and yelling as he grabbed the flag. You smiled and cheered for him, Clarisse only got pissed. “A trick!” she stood up, “It was a trick!” She yelled in anger. After that the other four ran off towards Luke, you turned around to see Percy who looked worned out. You ran up to him to check if he had any marks on him, and if he did they were all healed up.
“Not too bad, hero.” You could hear Annabeth’s voice from right next to you. The both of you jumped and then she revealed herself by taking off her cap, a warm smile she had on never really disappeared. “You set me up.” Percy states, you look confused. “You knew Clarisse would run after me, you used me as a cover up.” He sounded annoyed, very annoyed. Annabeth clapped her hands together, “I told you. Athena always, always has a plan.”
Percy groaned and looked at you, “Why didn’t you attack me?” You stepped back, “Didn’t want you to die, that’s all.” Annabeth could tell you were holding back something, hell you felt like you were holding back something- you didn’t know what though. “Yeah right…” she states crossing her arms. You give her the quick “Dont say anything you might regret” look and she shuts down and nods.
“Hey what happened to your arm?” Annabeth asks she examines it closely. “A sword slash.” Percy states, Annabeth doesn’t seem convinced. “Oh come on, it was!” Percy states holding his arm up, the slash was gone. “Now you noticed it huh,” you say flicking his forehead, “you healed once you got into the water!” Percy was confused. “Percy step out of the water.” Annabeth asks him. “Huh?” “Just step out.” You grab him by his arm and yank him out. Once he exists it he sort of falls over and into your arms. Quickly placing him onto his feet your face turns beet red. Due to the new becoming night sky it just looks like the sunlight is hitting your face a little too much.
“Oh, Styx,” she cursed, “I thought it would have been Zeus…” You nearly face palmed yourself, did she not see the water not drench him when the pipes bursted? You had a feeling he was Poseidon’s son, just a hunch though- only 67% sure you were but now it was at a 100%.
Before Percy spoke again there was that canine growl again, it shook the three of you- well the whole camp. Everyone stopped their cheering and all looked in that direction. Percy’s grip tightened on you shirt and you pushed him a little further from the water. You could hear the other campers draw their swords or whatever they had along with Annabeth.
Next thing we knew there was a black hound the size of a rhino, with lava-red eyes and fangs like daggers. The three of yours eyes widened out of fear, you didn’t want to go out like this. As Annabeth yelled for you two to get out of the way Percy covered you quickly just for him to get clawed in the back. You screamed as the monster also fell to its feet and onto the creek bank.
Chiron came running to your trio’s area, he was in a complete state of shock. “That's a hellhound from the Fields of Punishment. They don't... they're not supposed to...” Annabeth was in shock, “Someone summoned it from inside the camp!” You yelled out of anger, Percy was still holding onto you with his tight grip. “Percy get into the water.” You state bringing him closer now. “I’m fine..” he protested, you didn’t care you dragged him and placed him front side up into the water. Quickly the blood stopped pooling around him in the water and by the time he stood up everyone could see he was completely healed.
“Percy above you…” Annabeth pointed upwards to where he could see what was above him, a trident. “Holy shit!” You yelled, Annabeth didn’t look too amazed, “This is really not good…” Percy was confused. “Your father!” You placed your hands on his shoulders shaking him. “It is determined,” Chiron announced. Percy still didn’t understand, he guessed he was getting claimed now. “My father?” He asked stepping out of the water and close to Chiron now. “Poseidon,” said the centaur. “Earthshaker, Stormbringer, Father of Horses. Hail, Perseus Jackson, Son of the Sea God.” You were amazed that he got claimed only by being here for a few days, but you were also amazed on how he survived- he is the one for the quest.

clarisse freaking out when you're sick clarisse la rue x sick!reader a/n: i'm gonna do a part 2 where she's taking care of reader (:
clarisse was freaking out.
a mere five minutes ago, someone from y/n's cabin had approached her, with a nervous look on their face.
clarisse had immediately demanded to know what was wrong, and was disturbed by the feeling in her gut that it had something to do with you.
"uh... it's y/n," the boy muttered. "she's... very sick, and showed up to sword practice. we're trying to get her to go back to the cabin, but she's not listening to any of us, so... we thought maybe you could help?"
that was all clarisse needed to hear to rush towards the sword practice area.
and of course, there she was, swaying on her feet, with a sword in hand.
it looked like she was arguing with another one of her siblings, who was desperately trying to get the sword out of her hand.
clarisse sped up as she crested the hill where sword practice was being held.
y/n flipped around angrily at the sound of footsteps, but the anger dissipated when she saw who it was. a wide smile broke out on her face, causing clarisse to smile despite the fact that she was a little bit upset at the moment.
y/n started walking towards clarisse, but she was unsteady, and tripped over a lumpy patch of grass. in seconds, she was careening towards clarisse, who caught her, thank gods.
"hey baby?" clarisse began gently, her arms wrapping around y/n's waist and pulling their bodies closer together. "are you okay?"
y/n gave clarisse a wide smile as she draped her arms around clarisse's shoulders. "i'm doing great!" her smile turned into a scowl quickly. "except nobody will let me do sword practice!" she rolled her eyes dramatically.
clarisse glanced over her shoulder to the collection of people in the sword fighting area looking at her hopelessly.
y/n laid her head on clarisse's shoulder as she slumped against her body slightly, and clarisse subconsciously leaned her head against hers, beginning to soothingly rub her hand up and down y/n's back. she wasn't sure what to do, not wanting y/n here in the sword fighting area, and just wanting to lay her down in a bed in her cabin.
y/n let out a loud yawn that she tried to muffle against clarisse's shoulder. a few seconds later, y/n started coughing violently, a hacking cough that rattled her whole body.
seeing y/n like that freaked clarisse out even more, and her urgency to get her girlfriend back to her cabin and tucked under some comfy blankets and asleep increased tenfold.
suddenly clarisse had an idea, something that y/n often used on her when she refused to go to bed.
clarisse gently pulled y/n away from where her head had been resting on her shoulder. she smiled softly at the way y/n reluctantly pulled herself away from the comfort of clarisse's shoulder with a small frown.
"hey baby?" clarisse began, catching y/n's attention. "i'm getting kinda tired. do you wanna come lay down with me?"
all the concerned faces surrounding the two immediately relaxed as they realized what clarisse was trying to get y/n to do. one of y/n's siblings began inching herself forward, hands reaching towards the sword still dangling from y/n's fingers.
"you are?" y/n asked, concern immediately taking over her features. "are you okay? you never get tired during the day?"
clarisse had to close her eyes to keep from laughing at the way y/n immediately became concerned about her when she was currently unable to stand.
"i'm fine, baby," clarisse said, making sure she was speaking in soothing tones, unaware of the fact that everybody around them was shocked at hearing clarisse sound so loving and gentle. "i just need a little power nap. do you wanna come lay down with me?" she repeated the question from earlier, with a bit more urgency this time, hoping that y/n would just come with her.
y/n seemed to think for a minute. "i mean... i guess, but... what about sword practice?" her words were practically slurring at this point.
"don't worry about sword practice," your sibling said from behind you. "we've got this all covered, right guys?" everyone immediately started nodding.
it was clear nobody was eager to have a loopy y/n running around swinging a sword, which was fair. clarisse certainly didn't want that either, the fear of y/n possibly hurting others or, gods forbid, herself was too great.
after the all-clear from everyone was given, clarisse turned back to her girlfriend. "see? everyone's gonna be okay for one day without you. it'll be hard, but they'll manage. can you come lay down with me please?"
clarisse engaged the puppy dog eyes she only ever used when trying to get y/n to do something, making sure to lay it on thick as she really just wanted y/n to lay down.
y/n looked at clarisse for a few seconds, clearly falling under the spell of the puppy dog eyes, and then threw her head back dramatically before saying, "alright, let's go you big baby,"
clarisse couldn't hold back the chuckle this time.
"alright, thank you baby," she said, letting go of y/n's waist in favor of holding her hand, hopefully to lead her back to her cabin as quickly as possible.
they ran into a problem rather quickly when y/n began stumbling, and would've hit the ground if it wasn't for clarisse's quick reflexes.
"baby, why are you falling? are you okay?" there was an urgency in clarisse's voice. they were a little bit away from the group of other demigods at this point, but everyone could hear the fear in clarisse's voice.
y/n yawned as she leaned against clarisse. "yeah... i just..." she yawned again. "i took some medicine before i left the cabin, and i thought it was dayquil but it was actually nyquil,"
clarisse closed her eyes for a second to process this information.
"so. you're telling me..." clarisse let out a small chuckle. "you took nyquil, a medicine that makes you fall asleep, and then you went to sword practice?"
y/n scoffed. "you make that sound like it's a bad thing. it's called dedication, actually,"
clarisse closed her eyes again so she could roll them. "okay baby, yeah," she said soothingly. "you're very dedicated, but i still need to lay down, remember? can i carry you?"
y/n rolled her eyes, or at least... it looked that way. clarisse figured it also could be her eyes rolling back into her head, it was becoming increasingly clear just how tired her girlfriend was, seeing as everytime she closed her eyes they stayed closed for a few extra seconds.
clarisse would be worried she was dying if she hadn't just been told that she had taken nyquil before going to sword practice.
y/n nodded eventually, and clarisse didn't hesitate to throw y/n's arm around her shoulder before tucking her arm under her knees and hoisting her up into her hold.
clarisse paused to give y/n a kiss on her hair before taking off for her cabin.
"we're gonna take a nice nap together, and then hopefully when we wake up we'll both feel better," she whispered into her ear.
"yeah," y/n yawned. "that sounds nice,"
everyone back at the sword fighting area looked on the situation with a feeling of curiosity and also confusion, because none of them had ever seen clarisse act this way before. clarisse was known for being brash and mean; they weren't accustomed to this softer side of clarisse, and it was a bit jarring.
it was definitely interesting to see, though.

PJO Show Ares X Child!Reader (no gender specified)
Word count: 6168 (I realized a bit late that majority is me setting up the scene. If you just wanna see their talk, read after the “~~”)
Summary: You haven’t seen your father since the last time you talked, but of course with your luck he finds you again and you’re forced to make a big decision.
Warnings: Reader is going through it, poor attempt at a fight scene, the lore and timeline is probably fucked up but ignore that, OOC Ares probably and as of typing I’m realizing MAJOR SPOILER FOR THE TITANS CURSE. To avoid this, scroll until you see “I don’t have any friends that come over” or “~” if you wanna be extra careful.
Tumblr media
You’d love to say that not seeing your father after your last talk was some sort of surprise, but it wasn’t. Thankfully (is that selfish to think?) none of the demigods had a real good relationship with their parent. Well, Percy seemed to have a solid relationship with Posideon, but it’s not like he saw him everyday. And as selfish and heartless as it sounded, that offered you a bit of relief and comfort. It’s not like your father was sensitive and loving to you and you screwed it up. Everything was pretty much back to normal.
It was a pretty somber day at camp. Percy, Grover and Thalia had managed to save Annabeth and Artemis, but it didn’t come without casualties. You weren’t necessarily friends with Bianca or Zoë but you still grieved over them. The hardest part though, was watching how sad your friends had gotten, especially Percy. You knew what Percy was like. Percy was extremely loyal but that loyalty led to carrying a lot more weight on his shoulders than what was necessary. If your suspicions were right (and you knew they were), he’d blame himself for Bianca’s death. That made zero sense to you. He told you exactly how she died and to you, it seemed like Bianca made a choice. Percy couldn’t have done anything to stop it. He didn’t see it that way and you weren’t sure why you insisted on telling him over and over again and trying to cheer him up.
“Nico?” Percy raised to his feet when he saw you approaching. You shook your head,
“No sign of him. He’s been missing for a week now Percy. If we were gonna find him, we would’ve found him by now”. Percy looked defeated. You were sure he knew the chances of finding him were slim to none, but you kept combing areas of the woods for him to keep him somewhat at peace. If he thought there was a chance, he wouldn’t be as depressed hopefully.
 “I’m gonna say it again-“
 “Don’t”
“Well what should I say to calm you down?”
Percy thought for a moment but just shrugged and started heading inside his cabin and you followed. Percy collapsed on his own bed and you took it upon yourself to sit on the bed next to his. You didn’t know if it was because you held resentment towards your father, or if you actually liked Cabin 3 but you really wished this was your cabin instead. “Must be nice having a cabin all to yourself. No obnoxious cabin mates, no extra noise, nobody leaving their shit on the floor”.
“I guess” was all he said back to you and you sighed. You didn’t wanna keep repeating yourself but you genuinely didn’t know what to say but not saying anything made you feel like an asshole that was ignoring the situation.
So you tried to change the subject.
“Is it like this at home too? Just you and your mom? No friends over?”.
“I don't have any friends that can come over”
 “None at school?”
 “None”.
That made you frown. You were older than Percy by a few years, so you had time to adjust to how lonely life could be as a half-blood and by now, you didn't return “home” either. Camp was your home now year round. You understood why Percy kept going home though. You heard about his mom and she seemed like a nice woman. You were grateful he at least had that.
But instead of saying something sweet and nice and voicing your thoughts, you made a joke instead. “That's why your little ass keeps getting into trouble. You have no one out there watching out for you”
“My mom watches out for me plenty”
“But she's not keeping schools from being blown up now is she?”. Percy rolled his eyes, but he didn't look as sad as before so you took this as a sign to keep talking “if I was watching you, you'd be alright. At least you'd have help”
“You're tryna live with me now?”
“Sure”, you said with a shrug. “A cool mom, random blue food, stopping you from exposing yourself - it all sounds grand”. You both laughed at your joke because that's what it was. A joke.
At least… it was at first.
Either Percy didn't know what a joke was, or he was pretty fond of having a big sibling when he was home because the next day he told you he sent an Iris message to his mom and she was fine with getting an air mattress for you. You almost told Percy that it was just a joke, but then you thought about how lonely he must be at home and how annoying it can be only having his mom to talk to about this demigod stuff. Plus, it hopefully wouldn't hurt to get a break from camp.
You didn't know why you decided to pray and tell Poseidon about this, but you did. The sun had set and you slipped out of your cabin and snuck into the woods. You made a mini fire and threw two candy bars the Stoll brothers managed to sneak in, which was a real shitty offering but it was all you had. You couldn't do it during the feast. You had too much to say and someone would hear.
“Terrible offering, I know. I hope you're listening anyway” you started. “I'm gonna be following Percy around when he goes home and I'm gonna try and keep him and Sally somewhat safe. I don't know how safe Percy can really be but I'll try anyway. I hope that's not a problem. I'm not tryna step on your toes or anything”.
In all honesty praying and giving offerings felt strange. You were supposed to pray to Ares everyday and give him an offering, but you stopped doing that after your last talk. The first time you threw food in a fire and didn't say his name, you thought you'd combust as a punishment. You didn't though, so you kept doing it. Occasionally you'd give offerings to other gods but it was mainly Athena. Partially because she was like Ares but not really and partially because you hoped it would upset Ares. Was it childish? Yes. But compared to someone as old as Ares, you were a child.
“That's all I really have to say. If you don't want me to go you can drown me in my sleep or maybe send a letter. Whatever works for you”. You looked around, expecting for some paper saying “absolutely not” to land somewhere around you but nothing happened, so you put out the fire and snuck back into your cabin.
~
You don't think you have a huge ego, but you definitely felt you deserved a pat on the back for how good your work was.
You were able to convince your own lousy family to hand over any legal documents to Sally and thankfully Percy's middle school had a highschool right next to it. Although the demigods weren't supposed to use phones, a minor text here and there saying “hey, I think there's monsters here” didn't hurt anyone. There were plenty of times you had to sneak out of your school and into his, and if you weren't so busy fighting for your life, you'd audition to be in some spy or assassin movie.
Thankfully though, you weren't always busy helping Percy. You figured you might as well help Sally out so you got a job at a nearby bookstore inside of a mall and honestly? You'd prefer fighting monsters over dealing with bratty customers. Seriously though, how can you be a bitch at a bookstore?
“I've already told you ma'am” you said in a monotone voice, “we can't give you a refund if you do not have a receipt”.
The black hair woman scoffed and looked at you as if you caused the problem she was having. “A receipt? Do I seem like the type of woman who keeps a receipt?! When I bought Twilight, I expected better and I hate it and now I want a refund and as the customer, I am always right!”.
The entire conversation made you wanna explode in front of her and change the trajectory of her life, but unfortunately it didn't happen. What was with mortals and not understanding basic store rules?
“I would love it if you were right but you're not. No receipt. No refund”. She scoffed again and you wanted to grab her by the throat and stop the noise from ever leaving her mouth again.
“Well what do you expect me to do?!”
“Pick up a different book then get out maybe?”.
You couldn't put a finger on the noise that came out of her next. It was some deep throaty sound with a mix of anger and disgust. “Do you know who I am? I'm Holly Holiday-” you accidentally cracked a smile at her stupid name and that just fueled her rage. She pointed a finger at your name tag and said your name, followed by “you are so done for! I'll have you eaten alive for this!”.
She turned on her heels and left in a huff. Fucking finally.
You looked over at your coworker Harper and pretended your fingers were a gun and shot yourself, getting a laugh out of her. Harper and her twin Hazel shared a few classes with you and by some coincidence they also worked in the mall. Harper was with you while Hazel worked at the costume store downstairs. You couldn't tell them apart and you weren't sure if you'd ever pass the “we talk sometimes” stage but it didn't matter right now.
“I know it's closing time but are you ok if I take a bathroom break really quick? I can help out when I get back”
She waved dismissively, “take your time man. Hazel'll be coming up here too”. You nodded with a small thank you and stepped into the mostly vacant mall. The mall was usually lively but with it being so late at night, the only people around were other people like that annoying customer and workers who had the misfortune of still working this late.
It was eerily quiet. Sure, you thought you were used to how silent it was at this time of night, but you still got the creeps and did not take your time alone in the bathroom.
Maybe you should have though, because once you left the bathroom that same annoying lady was waiting outside, which she definitely should not have been doing.
“I told you I did not like that book”.
Seriously? She was still complaining? She was still here after the store had pretty much closed?
You said something that would've gotten you fired if your boss was around, “yeah? Tough shit lady. No receipt, no refund, it's as simple as that. Don't buy books you haven't read. Now get out the mall and go take care of your kids”.
She snarled. A genuine snarl that made you start to sneakily slip off the bracelet you were wearing. You didn't know if gods could give other kids gifts, and either it had been allowed this whole time or Poseidon didn't care since shortly after your “chat” after hours you received a dagger that could transform into a bracelet. You thought maybe Ares had sent it, but his gifts didn't smell of the ocean and a fresh breeze.
Regardless of who gave it to you, that snarl didn't sound good.
“I don't think you're very good at your job”
“I guess I'm not. Now do us both a favor and just leave”.
She didn't leave. Instead she smirked and that was all the confirmation you needed to know something was wrong. The bracelet slipped off your wrist and while the monster was transforming, you gripped your weapon and brought it up through the bottom of her mouth. You pulled it out, but not through the entry wound. You pulled it towards you, letting it split her face in half.
Just in case, you stabbed her in the heart, twisted the knife then pulled it out of her through the side of her chest. You didn’t have to wait for her to crumble. It was game over. A surprisingly easy win.
You grabbed some nearby napkins so you could wipe your dagger clean then returned it back to your wrist.
“What happened?” Harper asked once you stepped back inside, which was really odd for multiple reasons.
Firstly, you looked like you usually did. Nothing about you was particularly out of place. At least you didn't think so.
Secondly, she didn't sound curious. She didn't sound concerned. She sounded frustrated, like you did something wrong.
“Nothing” you lied. “It's nothing. Let's just clean up, yeah?”.
“I'm sure it's not nothing Child of Ares”.
Your brows knitted together and you hoped you just heard wrong. You turned to look at Harper and that's when it started to click.
 Harper. Hazel. Holly.
 Harpies.
They were too lazy to pick a different initial for the first name and you fell for it like an idiot. Plus the “I’ll have you eaten alive” comment. But in all fairness, who actually takes those comments seriously? If you took every threatening comment seriously, you'd be sent to an asylum.
Harper's short red hair looked like flames now. Her green eyes looked hungry for your flesh and her sharp teeth glistened in the light as feathers grew from her arms. Realistically, you should've been scared. There were two alive harpies in the building, but something about a monster with a gray shirt with mini white books decorated on it really made you wanna laugh. She must've sensed this since she sneered,
 “You think I'm funny?”
“Do you want an honest answer?”
“You won't think I'm so funny soon you spoiled demigod!”. You wanted to make a joke about how calling children with severe abandonment issues “spoiled” was silly, but you decided this wasn't the time. Instead you took the bracelet off.
Harper laughed in your face. “You think that will stop me?”
“Handled your friend pretty well. How about you stop trash talking and come over here so we can see if you're any different”. You don't know which comment got her so angry but she leapt at you.
You sidestepped her and planned on delivering a quick stab to the neck, but she must've seen it coming. She grabbed something and quickly turned to bat you in the face with it, making you stumble back. It took you a quick second to realize she hit you with a book. A Goosebumps book no less.
“You are incredibly childish” you mumbled and you wished you could laugh it off. Maybe you were childish too because you picked up the book and launched it at her face, feeling a tad bit disappointed when she dodged it.
You swung at her but she caught your wrist and squeezed hard enough to make you drop your dagger. You were quick on your feet though and you brought your available elbow down on her inner elbow (you were sure it had a scientific name but honestly who cares?). You heard a crunch and Harper screeched. Her grip loosened enough for you to snatch away while kicking her, her flying and hitting the railing.
You grabbed the dagger and threw it. You meant for it to hit somewhere fatal but she moved and instead it hit her directly in the eye, which made her screech even louder.
You snatched your necklace off and the object quickly took the shape of a double sided sword. It was a gift from your father and although he was probably pissed at you, you figured he probably wasn't watching and wouldn't care.
You charged at her and swung the sword. Although she was screaming in pain and was no doubt in agony, she slid under the blade. As she turned to face you, her hands moved and a sharp gust of wind knocked you off the third floor.
To make matters worse, Hazel decided to make an appearance. She was right below you, cackling, arms outstretched and you knew if you landed in those arms she'd devour you.
You did the only thing you could think of with such short timing. You angled the sword vertically and aimed directly for her mouth. She seemed to understand but it was too late. You came crashing down, your sword along with you and it slid directly in her mouth and down her throat. Because of the sword having a solid middle so you could hold onto something, it didn't go all the way through and you stumbled a bit, but you were better off than her. She stopped all movement and to make sure the job was done, you ripped the sword through her, cutting her in half.
“MY SISTER!”,  Harper screeched and you looked up at her with your messy sword in hand.
“You want more from the Child of Ares?!” You claimed you hated trash talk and you especially hated being called his child but the adrenaline was really getting to you. “I have plenty to give!”.
She flew up higher and started to come down fast towards you. You readied your sword, prepared to end this but suddenly she stopped and started trembling.
 “L-L-Lord Ares. I-”
Before you could ask any questions and she could finish her sentence, you were being launched into the air. The scream you let out was embarrassing but it didn't matter in the end. You both collided and hit the wall and instead of being knocked out or injured like you thought you'd be, you were completely fine. Your sword went straight through her chest and pinned her to the wall behind her and you were hanging above the ground, grasping onto the hilt of your sword and hoping your hands wouldn’t start sweating.
 “L-L-Lord Ares. I-”
No. No way. It couldn’t be. But who else could’ve launched you in the air like that?
You looked down and there he was. You don’t know why, but you expected him to look somewhat different. Maybe a new haircut or a new jacket. Maybe he’d try contacts, but no. He looked exactly the same. You didn’t know if you were comforted or unnerved by it.
You wished you had something cool to say but all you said was “what are you doing here?”.
“Saving your life”. Yeah right. You had everything 100% under control. He chuckled and you started to wonder if he could read your mind. When you screamed internally though, he didn’t flinch so that theory went out the window. Maybe you looked annoyed and didn’t know it.
“Are you gonna catch me?” You asked.
 “What for?”
“Because you threw me all the way to the fifth floor and it’d be nice not to break something”
“You need me to warm up milk up for you too?”.
Fuck it. You’d risk the broken leg.
You tightened your hands around the hilt and planted your feet on the wall then pushed off with all your might. Fortunately, you got the sword out the wall. Unfortunately, you were now falling from five floors up.
You braced for impact, but instead of falling and hitting the floor, you fell into someone’s arms. You looked up, thinking that maybe someone was with your father that you didn’t see before, but no. It was him. He caught you. Something you weren’t expecting but you weren’t against.
You mumbled a thanks and stood on your feet. The year was 2006 when you last talked. It was early in 2008 and while that wasn’t that big of a gap, the talk you had last time made things more awkward.
“I thought you’re not allowed to interfere”
He raised a brow at you as if saying “you care about rules now when you’ve been breaking them?”. Were you breaking them though? Sure you were encouraged to give offerings to your parent but you hadn’t been punished… yet. If it was so bad you wouldn’t be walking right now. And you doubted he paid enough attention to notice. He was probably relieved to have one less kid bothering him.
 Gods, you were a downer.
“Are you gonna tell on me?” He asked.
 “If you hadn’t caught me”
 “And now?”
“My lips are sealed”. You didn’t see his expression. You were too busy looking down at your shoes. A habit you hated you developed. It made you feel small. But you guessed demigods were supposed to be small in comparison to their parent. That’s why you showed them respect but they hardly returned the favor.
A moment of silence passed before he spoke up again.
 “You have money on you?”.
Was he gonna rob you now? “Uh, yeah”.
“You’re paying for dinner. Let’s go”
He started walking away before you could even respond, and like a reflex you grabbed his arm to slow him down. “I can’t”.
“Can’t?” He said so calmly it kinda scared you.
“Yeah. I can’t. My uh…” you decided not to tell him the entire truth about staying with Percy and Sally. “My ride… mom. She’s coming to get me. You don’t want mom knowing you’re in town, right?”.
He looked you up and down and you tried your best to not seem nervous. You weren’t sure he believed you but he let it go for the night.
You wished it stayed that way. That he’d just go back wherever he came from but instead he told you the name of a diner nearby and said to be there by noon tomorrow and that you were paying.
“Great. Thanks dad” you thought. “I always love our talks”.
~~
The good thing about his random plan to go to a diner at noon was that you were allowed to clean yourself and sleep beforehand. The bad thing was that now you were sitting across from him and it was incredibly awkward.
Ares kept laughing at his phone and you debated on asking him what was so funny but he said “started a Twitter war about vaccination. It’s getting good”. You screamed in your head again, but once again he didn’t flinch. Maybe he just had a good poker face.
“I’m happy for you?”. He glanced up at you and instead of going back to his phone, he set it face down on the table. You didn’t know if he seemed to glow because of the little war he started, or if a source of light was hitting him nicely. Maybe it was a god thing.
“You’re probably wondering why I’ve called you here”
Was this an HR meeting? “I’m wondering why I’m paying”
 “Ask me”
“You know I wanna know though so why am I asking?”
He didn’t respond. He just looked at you and you could hear his foot tapping on the floor.
You rubbed your brow, already feeling a migraine coming on. You took a deep breath and let out a sarcastic response (which was not a good idea but your mouth worked faster than your brain).
“Ares, the amazing God of War. The Protector of Mistreated Women. Wearer of biker jackets. I come before you as your humble child, begging thee to tell me what required my summons and why you were at the mall last night. Please please please tell me. I’ll fall over and die if you don’t”.
Sarcastic or not, he accepted it. He motioned towards the platter of burgers and fries, “this is your thank you. This is your offering to me since you haven’t been doing that”.
Well fuck. You didn’t think he’d notice.
You leaned back in your seat and your fingers strummed against your knees and you had to remind yourself that running out probably wouldn’t end well.
 “You noticed?”
“I did” he said simply. It reminded you of how emotionless he was the last time you talked. It reminded you of how frustrated you were that he talked as if nothing was wrong and as if your pain didn’t affect him.
“You demigods think you’re so smart. You have these big egos and think you’re ahead of us. You gave your offerings to Athena and Poseidon of all people ” he spat their names like it left a bitter taste in his mouth to mention them.
“And then you stay with that fish boy and his mom. Yeah. I saw that too. And I save your life and you don’t seem the least bit grateful”.
 Grateful.
Something about that word you hated.
Grateful? What was there to be grateful for? “Yeah dad, I’m super grateful my life consists of monsters trying to eat me and a dad I only see once in a blue moon. Totally grateful”.
 “We can’t interfere”
 “Didn’t stop you last night”
He tsked, “I don’t get you. You complain about my absence then you complain when I’m here when I could be doing anything else!”. His voice rose but the people in the diner were either used to this or didn’t care enough to say anything.
The nervousness and the fear rolled off you the more he spoke. Gratefulness? Doing anything else? You weren’t stopping him.
“Then go do those things. I’m not holding your hand and making you stay”. Your brain told you to shut up and apologize, but your mouth wasn’t having it. “And this isn’t about us and you know it. This is about you. This is about your ego being hurt. You don’t care about my safety. You didn’t go to the mall to protect me. You just love a fight and you were probably disappointed you couldn’t do more”
“That’s what you think?” His eyes burned with something you couldn’t quite place. Anger obviously, but it seemed like something else was there. Or maybe there was literal fire in his eyes. Either way, it was clear he was upset and if you didn’t shut up soon, he’d probably turn you into a random animal.
 But who didn’t love animals?
“That’s what I know. And I didn’t need your help. I was just fine. The only thing you would’ve missed if I somehow died was your little offerings. I don’t matter to you. Just admit it so we can move on”. Ares opened his mouth to say something, but you spoke again “and for your information Percy and Sally are very nice people. They feel more like family than you do”.
That shut up whatever he planned on saying. The last time you two talked you swore you saw an emotion cross his face. This time you were definitely sure you saw something cross his face before it went back to its default expression.
 Was that regret?
No. That was stupid and you’ve had plenty of stupid thoughts.
It went silent. Weirdly, eerily silent.
The diner wasn’t silent obviously but you two were.
You both were just staring at each other like statues. You wished you could read his mind. You hoped you would see thoughts of regret and sorrow and maybe hopefulness about your relationship going forward. You wished he had the same thoughts you had. Another stupid thought. Being hopeful didn’t work with him.
For whatever reason, your mind wandered off to the late night talks you’d have with Sally and for whatever other reason, you started to speak.
“Have you heard the song American Pie? Yes, it’s somewhat important to what I have to say. Yes or no only please”
He looked bored and unamused but he answered anyway. “I don’t know. Maybe? Who cares?”.
“There’s a line in the song that says this’ll be the day that I die. And for whatever reason it made me think about what I’d do if I were dying. If I woke up one day and I knew I was gonna die that day, what would I do? You wanna know what I realized?”
He raised his brows for a second and leaned back in his chair. There was a possibility he was still bored but he seemed somewhat interested. “Shoot”.
You smiled bitterly. Here he was so calm and fine and here you were, speaking slow and hoping your voice didn’t waver or crack. “I realized-” you failed. Your voice wobbled a bit and you cleared your throat a little too loud. “I realized I’d spend every second trying to make you love me”.
You didn’t bother trying to read any expression he had next. You knew you’d always get it wrong and you’d imagine what you wanted to see. “And I uh… I don’t wanna be that way anymore”. You blinked rapidly, trying to prevent any tears from falling out. You didn’t have the rain to cover your face and blend in like you did last time. “And selfishly I hope that scares you”.
 “Gods don’t feel fear”
“Well whatever you wanna call it I hope you feel it. I hope -and I’m gonna keep calling it fear- I hope you feel afraid for what that means for us”
“Allow me to humor you for a bit” you felt as though the comment was supposed to be sarcastic but it didn’t sound sarcastic or aggressive. It was weirdly soft. “Why would you not wanting to spend your last day with me scare me?”
“Because that means I won’t admire you anymore” you answered. “You don’t get it. You don’t get how much you mean to me. You don’t get how much I used to idolize you. Before I was claimed, I was already intrigued by you. Once I was claimed I read every single story that had to do with you. I was honored to be your child and tried to show you how honored I was everyday. I didn’t do all this for me. The training, bettering my Greek, learning everything I could about mythology. I didn’t do that for me. I did that so I would never shame your name and make you look like you raised incompetent idiots. The way I would defend your name and what you represent, you’d think I was being paid”
“Me not admiring you anymore means I won’t care about defending you. It means I won’t care anymore about our family relationship. And I hope the idea of me calling you Ares instead of dad terrifies you. That emptiness or indifference I’ll feel when I hear your name… I know it hasn’t happened yet but thinking about it terrifies me too. Maybe I’m just selfish and don’t wanna be alone”. You used your sleeve to wipe at your wet face, a mix of embarrassment and relief for finally getting this out of you. “I could be right. I doubt it. I’m probably just making all that up but either way I need you to stop doing this. Seeing you at all, it gives me hope. I don’t want an enemy for life. I’m not Percy. But this is just gonna make this harder and if you hate me I am begging you to have mercy and leave me be. No visiting. I won’t come to see you when we do that little field trip either. I’ll stay at camp or I’ll go bother another god. Hermes is really nice. And if I break my end of the deal you can do whatever you want to me. Turn me into an ant, rearrange my fingers, throw me down a flight of stairs at full force, whatever”.
There you went again making up shit. Swearing you saw something worse than sadness on his face; grief. That was impossible. Your eyes were just playing tricks on you like they always did.
You didn’t know what you wanted him to say, but you didn’t expect “you think, but you don’t know anything”.
“Then tell me what I don’t know”. He didn’t say anything. He went silent and you were getting real tired of his silences. You sighed, “Sally’s been waiting outside so…”
“Yeah…”. He let out a breath. Annoyance. Had to be. “You want this?” He asked.
You were honest. “No” you said instantly. “No I don’t but this just seems like the best thing to do”. He didn’t argue with you.
Your hand went to reach inside your pocket for money but then he spoke again “keep it”.
 “It’s no problem-”.
 “Just keep it”.
 You nodded.
You stayed sitting down. Why was it so hard to stand? Why did your legs feel so wobbly and your throat so dry? Why did your chest feel like a huge weight was crushing it? Weren’t you supposed to feel the opposite? Free and lively? Feel like you could float?
Another stupid thing escaped your lips. “Can you do me a favor?”.
“Another one?” He asked lifelessly- no. He was not lifeless. He was happy. You were sure of it. You’d leave and he’d cheer because he wouldn’t have to deal with another kid anymore. You knew it.
“It’s not a favor if you don’t wanna see me either”. Another bit of silence but you weren’t surprised. “Can we do that thing mortals do? You know, when they hug and say they love each other before they go their own way? Or maybe just the ‘I love you’ part”. He looked at you for a bit and you were about to apologize for making it weird and leave but Ares stood up.
 You stood up.
It’s strange how something you’ve never done before can feel so right. Like it was always meant to happen or always supposed to be this way. You weren’t necessarily cold and Ares wasn’t a heater, but the second he wrapped his arms around you and you did the same for him, you felt much warmer. Not a burden type of warmth. The kind of warmth that brings you relief on a freezing cold day. That crushing feeling stayed the same though.
“I love you dad” you said and it fell out so naturally, you’d forgive anyone for thinking this was a normal occurrence. That the fight you had was just a small disagreement but otherwise you two had an amazing relationship.
You didn’t know how the words “I love you too” would sound coming out of his mouth, but it sounded better than you hoped for. It once again sounded natural and genuine even if you knew it wasn’t.
 You thought it wasn’t.
No. You knew it wasn’t. This was no time for brain tricks and delusions.
Pulling apart was probably the hardest thing you had to do and your job was keeping Percy Jackson safe. That sudden coldness fell over you again and the crushing got worse.
It didn’t get any better when you left. You didn’t have the guts to look at him one last time, afraid you’d call off your deal right then and there if you made eye contact with him.
Luckily Sally was an intelligent person. She was smart enough not to ask how it went. Even if she did, it’s not like you could answer with the huge lump in your throat.
“Do you want ice cream dear?”.
You shrugged. There was that word again. Want. You didn’t know what you wanted anymore. You thought you did but it all felt wrong. There was no weight lifted off your shoulders and you didn’t feel light on your feet. You felt cold and hollow. The weight got worse and pushed down on you with so much force, you didn’t know it was even possible.
Then your eyes landed on his bike and it all came out. Your head fell into your hands and you let out sobs that were lodged deep in your chest. Your ears were ringing and you were sure you looked and sounded like the most pathetic person alive but you couldn’t care anymore. Sally, once again being an intelligent woman, took that as a sign it was time to go and pulled off. You assumed Sally would’ve dropped Percy off after you went inside. You assumed he wouldn’t wanna wait out here for you while you talked to one of the people that hated him the most. His hand patted your shoulder, notifying you that he was in the car still. Usually you’d make a joke and tell them that you were fine, but nothing came out but borderline hysterical sobs.
You grew jealous of Percy. He didn’t see Poseidon much but at least he knew deep down that Poseidon cared for him. Sometimes you’d get that feeling but you thought it was all a delusion. Fuck. Why did you keep doing that? You knew it was all a delusion.
That choice had to be the right one. It needed to be the right one.
That didn’t stop this wave of agony from drowning you, and you’d fight a thousand harpies if it meant this feeling would go away.
Omg y’all I did it😭. I mixed two ideas someone suggested with my own ideas and here we are. I hope y’all like it even though a huge portion is me yapping but to be fair I didn’t realize until after I was done and summarizing all of that didn’t seem like it’d sound right, yk? There was definitely a way I could’ve done it but I’m stupid soooo… yeah. Anyway, OOC Ares but this is my angsty fantasy so I’m making him care about his kids. In my head the whole “I hate my own kids” is him trying to convince himself he doesn’t care for them so it’s easier to stay apart from them. Idk, maybe I’ll make a part 3 from his perspective and answer why he said he was saving their life. I make no promises tho. And I know I said it’s show Ares so skipping ahead doesn’t make sense but we know what’s gonna happen Taglist: @kyuupidwrites @chadmeeksmartinswifey @lebguardians @beansficreblogs (one asked to be tagged, one asked for more dad fics, then one commented plus reblogged and one reblogged, so although majority did not ask, imma just assume y’all would wanna see a part 2😀. We’re getting the band back together like this is Phineas and Ferb)

Ω PJO DEMIGOD HEADCANONS:
⚔ ARES: God of War and Violence 🐗
author's note: I had a sudden idea about writing some headcanons Camp Halfblood demigods being claimed and what it's like for each respective god and cabin, followed by a small blurb afterwards. Thank you for reading and please like and reblog! The order is not in order of the cabin numbers. [PJO DEMIGOD HEADCANONS MASTERLIST]
When you get claimed, it’s either during or after a victorious battle. If it’s during a battle, like Capture the Flag, it’s when your blood is pumping and you’re on adrenaline high. You could be losing or winning, but you hit that point of state where you’re just so in the zone before you realize you’re covered in red. You decimate the other team, striking fear in their hearts as they see you running over their teammates, your weapon swinging like it’s your own limb. Everyone looks above your head as they see the floating red boar above your head and then you hear a roar of cheer from your now half–siblings. They let out whoops, howls, and cheers, slapping you on the back and some wrestling you if you’re still battle high, before they lift you up and carry you around.
When you’re shown the cabin, you’re immediately nerved by the boar head posted above the door, its eyes following you…but you can’t focus on that because you’re immediately told and made to remember where the live mines are around the entrance. They didn’t clarify if they were actual mines or alternative mines…they said it was classified information and you didn’t have the clearance level yet. Either which you didn’t want to find out the hard way.
If the Hephaestus cabin is the forge, you bet you can imagine that the Ares cabin is their armoury. It's not on the scale as theirs, but its pretty close. Weapons galore. It's a weapon maniacs dream. You have equipment here to upkeep and maintain weapons and if you pick out a weapon that you're not sure how to maintain? You have siblings jumping up the chance to show you.
You wanna try and wield different weapons? Go on ahead! Every Ares’ member has their own mini armoury and collection of weapons.
Y'know how siblings like to push each other and get into play fights? Yeah, the Ares cabin is like that constantly. It goes from rough housing to actual sparring. If you're not a big fan of participating in it, you're going to learn how to redirect people's movements. Don't worry about it getting the heat off you, as long its not entirely personal, you have another Ares’ sibling ready to switch with you.
You also begin to take on bets because with the amount of rough-housing and sparring, it's just too good of an opportunity. The currency ranges from actual dollars, drachmas, candy bars, or what have you. All currency is accepted.
People often like talking with their fists, but it's mostly getting rid of the pent up emotions when you guys do some talk to talk. Got to be fair you know.
If you're not particularly looking for a fight, don't worry about it. While it is true, you're a war god child, you're also good at de-escalating. After all, there's a reason in the book, "The Art of War", Sun Tzu says "The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting".
Blood was roaring in your ears with eyes red as you gripped your weapon high. Your veins were pumping with adrenaline, almost making you shake but you never felt more alive. You had just won and you thrust up your weapon high in the air, and let out a yell. Immediately, a cacophony of cheers and yells joined you, sending another spike of adrenaline and you faintly saw the claim of Ares above your head. People swarmed you and in the zone, you attacked them which they gleefully returned back the favour. Then they lifted you up in the air, cheering that about another child of Ares as you were carried back to the Ares cabin where your siblings plopped you in front of it, and Clarisse at the head.
She grinned at you, her figure imposing but you kept your chin high.
“Not bad, but expected as a child of Ares. Don’t let it get to your head because there’s plenty coming” she said.
“Bring it on” you fired back with a grin as she gave a smirk.
“I’m Clarisse Rue, cabin leader of Cabin 5. Welcome to the Ares cabin.”
