sooo i found an artist on fb that does artwork like this... problem; they don't speak english ☠️... so i can't communicate with them, i have seen their posts - none english. it sucks cause i downloaded some of their artwork comics and i cannot for the life of me think of what translator will work for this persons language.

so i will post the comics up but its up to y'all to think of up of what is going on, for me, i went based off the interactions/body movement of the characters plus facial expression on the situations. however if anybody understands this language please translate it 😭.it'll help me out alot.

oh another thing, i have 0 clue who the boys are in the art, im assuming they're this artist version of the rowdyright boys au, they must've did a spin on them. edit; i found out who they are its breaker, blake and bash.

Thoughts on the word "counterpart"

So, since I've seen a number of Tron fics use "counterpart" for a program's romantic partner...

...I've started to notice a thing in my own programming software.

Now, I don't understand what this means, because I don't actually write programs. I use BBEdit for making html pages for my website (and also AO3 fics, because they need to be formatted like html pages).

And all I can find in the BBEdit support is this stuff in the release notes for version 9.6:

...so, from that, I would guess that a program's "counterparts" are other programs that are somehow vitally involved in its functioning.

...And that a program can have more than one of them.

... Others with more coding knowledge, please contribute more context if possible?

I feel like there are a handful of sci-fi/fantasy TV shows that I recommend to people all the time. So here they are as a post.

The Expanse (2015-2022)

The most scientifically accurate sci-fi show ever meets possibly my favourite found family of all time. There's fascinating politics, sophisticated examination of imperialism, a diverse cast (especially in later seasons) and some great space battles too. It takes a little while for all the threads to come together but when they do, it soars.

The Almighty Johnsons (2011-2013)

In which a family of brothers from New Zealand are the reincarnations of Norse gods, only now that they've been in human form for generations, their powers have become... well, a bit crap. Not a huge amount of budget but so, so much heart and the ending is perfect. When this came to an end, not having any more Almighty Johnsons to watch felt a bit like not getting to hang out with my friends.

Blake's 7 (1978-1981)

Robin Hood in space! All four seasons of Blake's 7 were filmed for the budget of approximately two minutes of something like Rings of Power, and it shows, so this shows the future looking suspiciously like a Home Counties quarry. But if you can get over that, the 70s pacing and the 70s social attitudes (in particular the sexism), then what's left is some very sharp dialogue and unforgettable characters. Blake/Avon is one of the first great slash pairings after Kirk/Spock in fandom history. Avoid spoilers for the ending at all costs.

Killjoys (2015-2019)

The first handful of episodes of this are a fun romp where we follow bounty hunters around a setting that feels quite a lot like the Firefly universe (though consensus is it does a much better job with race than Firefly) as they right wrongs and kick ass. And then it stays a fun romp but also grows a twisty plot.

Counterpart (2017-2019)

It's a Cold War spy thriller in Berlin, except it's set in the modern day and the sides spying on one another are two parallel worlds. It was cancelled on a cliffhanger after two seasons but it's still worth watching. IIRC it takes a few episodes before it passes the Bechdel Test but has some fantastic female characters when it gets there.

And a bonus:

The Man from Earth (2007)

OK this is a film rather than a TV show, but I'm going to mention it anyway because I feel like more people should hear about it. The story is that a professor who's just quit his job explains to his colleagues that he's actually thousands of years old. It's 90 minutes of mostly people sitting and talking in a single room, and it's gripping.

Since Steve brought you back and mated you, he is as man possessed. The alpha always tries to mark your body with his cum and scent. He wants you to smell like him all the time. It’s not enough to him that you are wearing his mark on your neck. Your alpha needs to make sure every other alpha can smell him on you. 

“I think you need more of my scent on you,” he dips his knee into the mattress. “Doll, stop sending your anger through the bond.”

“I hate you,” Steve sighs deeply at your words. He tried anything to make things up to you. Still, you refuse to turn back into the sweet omega he fell in love with. 

“You will adapt, omega,” or at least your alpha hopes you will. He gives you a soft smile, offering redemption for his sins once again. “Be good and let me clean you.”

“Bastard,” Steve yelps as you lash out and ram your teeth into his hand. You growl low in your throat before biting his hand again. “Next time you’ll lose a finger.”

“Y/N, omega,” he tries again. Steve carefully approaches you, but it’s no use. You are an angry pregnant omega, ready to rip him apart. One moment you are needy and try to get his knot, and the next you remember all the hurting you had to endure while he was with another woman. “I know you are still mad at me.”

“I’m not mad, only disappointed,” you sniffle, wiping your eyes. A broken sob leaves your throat and you hate yourself for it. Over the last months, you tried to stay strong and give Steve hell. It’s only that sometimes the lines blur and you are not sure if you are still angry at him or yourself for giving in to him. 

“You promised to me that I’ll be the only omega for you. Steven Grant Rogers, alpha prime, promised me that he’ll be a good alpha when he took my innocence and knotted me for the first time. He’s a bad liar, nothing else.”

“I did not lie back then,” Steve cups the back of your neck and forces you to look up at him. “I wanted to keep that promise but then, Peggy said she’s my true mate, and that she heard you talk to your friend, telling them that you lied to me. She made me believe, that you lied about being my true mate.”

“I don’t care,” you roll to your side and cover your body with one of the blankets you demanded from your alpha. “You left me all alone. I suffered from pining sickness and almost died. You’ve got no clue how much your behavior hurt me. I had to endure rejection, pain, and loneliness while you were fucking that wench.”

“Baby doll,” Steve lies behind you to nuzzle his face in your neck. He scratches your skin with his thick beard, making you shudder as you know how good his face and beard felt between your legs not half an hour ago. “I was a fool and wronged you in the most terrible way possible. I promise to be a good alpha and never even look at someone else ever again.”

“That’s the least I can expect from my alpha. Don’t act as if the bare minimum you offer is more than a drop in the bucket,” you sneer as Steve places his large hand onto your swollen belly. You are almost nine months pregnant and as angry as ever at Steve. “You have a fucking lot to make up to me. Maybe one day, I will forgive you, but I’ll never forget. That’s a matter of fact.”

“Omega, let me hold your hand,” your alpha grunts as you refuse to even let him hold your hand. “Fine, I’ll wrap my arm around your waist instead.”

“I dare you,” you squeak as you end up in his arms, his face in your neck and his teeth grazing the mark he left. “Steve, no! I will not be able to resist…” you purr low in your throat as you feel his lips and teeth nip at the mark. You are torn between wanting to hurt Steve and making your alpha happy. “No…”

“Just give in to your instinct, love,” he croons against your throat. “I know you want to make your alpha happy and be a good omega. You want to make your alpha proud and show him that you love him. I can feel it through our bond, doll.”

“I still hate you,” weakly clutching at his jacket you feel your omega submit to your alpha. You purr and moan as he laps at your skin. “Steve, not here. We should go back home.”

“I can feel you,” he pants against you, almost creaming his pants as your scent surrounds him. “I love you too, Y/N. Always have. I was blinded by my anger and the need to claim my true mate. I-I never claimed Peggy, even though, she pretended to be my true mate. I just couldn’t get you out of my head.”

“Stevie,” an annoyingly sweet voice brings you out of your instinct-driven haze. You blink your eyes open and push against Steve’s shoulders. “Steve, can we not talk.”

“I got nothing to say to you, Ms. Carter,” Steve reluctantly lifts his head and stops kissing your skin. “Leave me alone. Never talk to me again. I thought you got the message. I sheltered your life and let you stay here. This doesn’t mean I will not ban you from the pack if you don’t stop following me.”

“But—” she cries now, eyes glued to your alpha. “You are my alpha, my true mate. She lied to you, Stevie.”

“I’m alpha prime to you,” your alpha growls now. He narrows his eyes and huffs as Peggy dares to take a step toward you, his pregnant mate. “Ms. Carter, you may think I’m stupid, but I’m not. I can feel it deep inside of me. My alpha can feel it. Y/N is my true mate, not you.”

“I,” Peggy tries once again. She takes one more step toward you to glare at your swollen belly. “I know for sure that the baby is not yours. She fucked Bucky.”

“Wait—what?” Bucky storms toward Peggy, Steve, and you. He was watching you and Steve, smirking as you got your alpha wrapped around your pinkie. Now he’s growling like a feral animal, ready to rip Peggy apart. “I got a mate! I don’t fuck some other alpha’s mate, you bitch!”

“Cunt,” you correct, smirking at Bucky who gives you a smirk in return. “She’s a cunt, and a lying bitch. Stevie, I want her gone…today.”

You turn around and walk back toward Steve’s car. If he doesn’t make sure Peggy leaves the pack, you will not have sex with him for the next century…at least you promise so to yourself…

“Peggy will leave the pack tonight. I made sure of it,” Steve runs his hands over your swollen belly, not missing that you purr low in your throat. He can feel you become calmer in his presence and smiles softly. “I promise to be a good alpha, Y/N. From now on, only you and my pup are important to me.”

“I consider forgiving you,” you smirk as Steve presses his ear to your belly. “Until then, you are allowed to try to earn my forgiveness…”
