Whilst reading Crooked Kingdom again, I stumbled upon a totally underrated Wesper moment:

Chapter 18: Kaz, the scene where Kaz and Wylan are standing in Van Ecks office with the safe

"How would I run an empire?" asked Wylan. "I can't read a ledger or a bill or lading. I can't write a purchase order. My father is wrong about a lot of things but he's right about that. I'd be a laughing stock."

"So pay someone to do that work for you."

"Would you?" asked Wylan, his chin jutting forward. "Trust someone with that knowledge with a secret that could destroy you?"

Yes, thought Kaz without hesitation. There's one person I would trust. One person I know would never use my weakness against me.

So, obviously, Kaz' trust in Inej is so amazing. He loves her, trusts her.

But can we talk about what this scene means for Wesper for a second? Wylan believes that having someone read for him, do these jobs for him would be giving that person the tools to destroy him. He can never imagine running his father's empire because he could never have anyone cose enough to trust them with this kind of knowledge. He will not let anyone read to him, because it would put him in danger.

And then, at the end of the book, this changes. Wylan's walls in this instance were torn down, by Jesper: Jesper wiggled his way into Wylan's heart, earned his trust, and Wylan, who has never done this before, lets down his guard and gives Jesper his absute trust. He loves and trusts Jesper so much that he unlearns the things he always believed about himself, and allows himself to be vulnerable - for jesper.

This is my absolut comfort ship.

One day Kaz gets REALLY drunk. He just completely blacks out (maybe Inej is out of town and he’s in a mood, idk).

For some reason he chooses to go see Wylan and Jesper. When he gets inside Kaz immediately breaks down, crying.

He says “I’m so happy for you two for finally getting your shit together!!! I love you both so much and I will kill anyone for you (minus Inej).

[turns to Wy] Wylan, my baby, my son. You are a kid I found semi-randomly, but from the moment I met you I had already decided to adopt you!

[turns to Jes] And Jesper, you are the best friend I’ve ever had!! Thank you for being by my side all these years!!”

In the morning Kaz doesn’t remember anything and they are too scared to tell him.

When kanej get married they don’t have wedding rings, they get little matching knives with each other’s initials engraved on them.

Kaz eventually develops a habit of rubbing the knife in his hand when thinking. He also keeps it polished and freaks out when blood from the person he was “talking” to gets on it.

Inej has a habit of kissing the knife for luck before attacking slavers ship. She also has a little praying place with some holy images, and she puts it there, for washing off it’s sins, whenever she has to use her “wedding” knife in battle.

They have two matching chains for the knives, so they can hang them on their necks, which were made and gifted to them as a wedding gift by Jesper.

I spend all night watching season 2 of Shadow and Bone. I didn't get any sleep but I have absolutely no regrets.

For this season they fed us. Between Kaz being so book accurate, fucking Wesper (I was honestly going insane every time I saw them), Kanej (they made me cry I love them so much it hurt me), and the Jesper and Tolya interactions I never knew I needed.

Once again thinking about Wesper, who found each other against all odds, who were not love at first sight - attraction, sure, but not love - and learned to love all the little things that make up the other.

Wesper, who found each other somehow at the right time, and who are not just "Oh, they balance our each other's weaknesses", cause they do not. Jesper is not a great reader. He doesn't love to read, reading was not really something he did a lot. But he loves to read for Wylan. And Wylan is not an expert on gambling problems, he is not naturally calm and quiet - but he can be for Jesper.

For me, they are not two halves of a greater whole. They are a pair of unmatching socks that still work together.

Their relationship is not perfect, and certainly not easy, but I love wesper because they give me a feeling of "they can make it work, and they want to make it work."

And that makes me happy, that's why I love wesper.

Six of Crows playing Mario Kart (part two)

kaz always stays with the same character and the same cart

its toad

"he's reliable"

jesper almost always chooses yoshi

"he's my spirit animal. we're brothers from. . . we're brothers"

all the other times he plays as princess peach

nina complaining because "i wanted peach!"

nina keeps commenting on kaz's character in a negative, teasing way

kaz just ignores it; he feels a connection to toad at this point, and knows he always wins, and he knows nina is just jealous

matthias keeps trying to look for the character that is the most 'normal'

however it fails horrendously because *have you played mario kart*

in the end, he just goes with wario

wylan always plays as koopa troopa

nina plays as princess peach when jesper hasn't stolen it

(there's literally a race to grab princess peach)

inej plays as daisy (because of nina's peer pressure)

but whenever she is able to choose for herself, she doesn't have a constant character

she goes off of what her mood is like
