headcanon is that eddie would ALWAYS be wearing socks. you would NEVER catch that man being bare foot. it makes him feel obnoxious without them on. therefore richie would ALWAYS make sure to buy a huge pack of socks for his eddie every christmas ever since they’ve met. thereupon eddie’s love for richie continues to grow even stronger as the years go by.

Eddie: *holding his own dead demobat and whispered to it* I totally get why you bit him. He's so cute. I'd bite him, too. I kind of wish he would split me in half.

Robin: *appearing at Eddie's side suddenly* If you tear pieces of my best friend's flesh off, I'm taking one of your nipples.

i don’t often hc reddie with having kids however i Can’t Stop Thinking about single dad eddie kaspbrak taking his young daughter to the same cafe every friday after school. eddie gets a coffee, his daughter gets a hot chocolate, they share a slice of strawberry cake together, and that’s their little friday tradition.

but then, a new employee starts working at the cafe. at first eddie doesn’t give it too much thought (although he couldn’t pretend that he didn’t think the barista was cute when he first walked in), until eddie gives him their regular order, and the barista looks over to the young girl and asks: “cat or rabbit?”

both eddie and his daughter are confused, and she takes a few moments of thinking hard before she hesitantly replies, “…rabbit.”

the barista- whose name eddie learns is richie, from the name tag he is wearing- smiles and gives a quick nod before ringing them up and moving to get started on their drinks. it doesn’t take long at all for eddie’s plain coffee to be served up, but eddie does start to get confused when it’s taking longer than usual for the hot chocolate to come out. his daughter has noticed as well, and begins pulling on her dad’s arm, asking how much longer. eddie peers over the bar, and sees richie hunched over the drink, staring down intently into the cup. eddie just assumes that it’s because richie is new, and so he will take a little longer to make the drinks. he tells his daughter that it will be ready soon, and reminds her to be patient.

when richie finally appears to be done, he slowly picks up the cup and brings it over to the bar where eddie is standing. eddie thanks him and reaches out to take the drink, when he looks down into the cup and realizes that it hadnt taken so long because richie was simply inexperienced, but because he had spent the time to carefully paint a picture of a rabbit on the top of the hot chocolate with frothed milk.

his daughter pulls at his arm again, asking if she can have her drink now, and eddie realizes that due to the height of the bar being taller than his daughter, she can't see what he was looking at, so he set his own coffee down and picks her up. the look on her face when she sees the rabbit on her drink is probably one of the happiest eddie had ever seen. she squeals with delight, clapping her hands together and saying that she doesn't want to drink it now because it's so cute, and thanking richie very much.

richie smiles back, with a “you’re very welcome!” that matches the young girl’s excitement, before quickly rushing away to take the next customer’s order.

eddie brings their drinks over to their usual table and he and his daughter enjoy them thoroughly (though it did take some time for the young girl to finally stop staring at the bunny and finally take a sip), but maybe a little bit more so than usual. when it's time for them to leave, eddie returns their cups to the bar, and catches the attention of a certain barista.

richie comes over to take the cups from him, and eddie (who, for. reason he can't figure out, is feeling nervous), says to him, "thank you again, for the whole rabbit thing. you really made her day with that."

richie's smile is wide and bright and makes eddie feel something that he hasn't felt in a while. "it's my pleasure," richie replies. "we get a lot of shitty customers through here, so it's fun to make a kid smile every now and then with a hot chocolate drawing."

"well, i'm pretty sure you're probably her favourite person now," eddie tells him. "she didn't stop talking about the rabbit for the entire hour we were sitting there."

"good to know," richie says. "i'll make sure to do another one for her the next time you two come in. too bad you don't take milk in your coffee- i could have done one for you as well."

eddie feels his cheeks grow warm, and tells himself that it's just because it's a warm day outside, and definitely not for any other reason. "maybe next time i'll try a new drink, then," he says, which seems to make richie's smile even brighter than it already was.

richie nods. "maybe. i could always give you a recommendation, as well."

"that'd be nice."

richie is called back over to take another order, and eddie returns to his daughter and as they pack up their things to leave, eddie already finds himself looking forward to next friday.

When he was a kid, Eddie had a bit of a subconscious rebellious streak when it came to his mom and the losers, even if he didn’t realize it.

When his mom was being racist, he’d find himself hanging out with Mike. When she was being antisemitic, he’d hang out with Stan. When she’d make comments about the promiscuity of girls these days, he’d hang out with Bev.

When she was being homophobic, he’d seek out Richie.

This tickles Richie when they get older and get together because “Holy shit, Eds, did you know I was gay back then, or something??”

And Eddie would be like “No, dumbass, I had a crush on you” which would fluster Richie and make Eddie’s day.
