Danish landscape architect C. Th. Sørensen (July 24, 1893 - 1979) was renowned internationally for his parks and garden designs. Here is one of his most original ideas - the allotment garden complex, The Oval Gardens in Nærum, near Copenhagen (1948-52).
Sørensen’s idea was simply that:
“Neighbors are always quarreling about the shared hedge between their houses. How to cut it? How tall should it be? Here they each get a complete hedge of their own with a no-man’s-land between them. Then they don’t have to quarrel anymore!”
The photo above is from 2022 and one can see how the allotments are used as vegetable gardens by some and for pure summer pleasure use by others. The houses are tiny and not meant for full-time occupation.

Located on the non-ferry served Obstruction Island, the site was completely untouched and only occupied by a mature montane forest of Douglas fir, cedar, hemlock, and spruce. Before any construction was done on site, Carsten and his family camped on the property for two years to understand the hidden moments and seasonal changes of the place. During this time much care was taken to clear dead and fallen trees to only discover a church-like outdoor space, a mossy clearing surrounded by 150-foot-tall trees. This became the permanent location for the cabin, tucked inland so the building wouldn't be visible from the jaggy and rocky shoreline. The design and construction of the cabin was done together as a family. Aiming to strike a balance of simplicity and basic comfort in this weekend retreat, you get a feeling as though you are immersed in the natural elements of the forest. The materials for the cabin were carefully chosen and economized to fit onto two small lumber trucks coming in on barge. All materials were dropped at the top of the 2.5-acre site and carried down by hand, piece by piece, to the mossy clearing. The finishes are durable and simple. The 2x4 framing was left exposed on the interior with fire-resistant mineral wool insulation applied to the exterior, then clad with Alaskan yellow cedar boards with a Sho Sugi Ban finish. In the interior, a second life was given to a 1960 Danish fireplace and 100-year-old steel windows. The kitchen equipment is movable and interchangeable, just enough to cook healthy and tasty meals. The electrical and plumbing was kept as rudimentary as possible so to not rely on technicians coming in from the mainland. Architect - Carsten Stinn Photographs by @seanair More photos on @cabinporn.

In 2014, the Australian firm AMP Capital launched a bold and bizarre call to action to the architectural community of Sydney—replace their skyscraper headquarters without demolishing it.
They wanted their AMP Center, the once-tallest building in Sydney, to become the world’s first “upcycled skyscraper,” and the results were truly inspirational.
By grating a second tower onto the existing core of the AMP Center and not demolishing it, 12,000 tons of CO2 were saved which would have otherwise been created through the use of heavy machinery and the loss of carbon captured in the cement. 12,000 tons is equal to 3 years of the 49-story tower’s maximum energy consumption.
Built in the 1970s, the AMP Center wasn’t necessarily on its last legs, but wasn’t viable for the company any longer. But the firm was unwilling to commit to the massive costs of carbon and money when another option was available.
First though, sufficiently bold architects were needed for the project. Three firms teamed up, led by Danish architects 3XN, an Engineering company called Arup, and the Australian architects BVN.
“The tower was coming to the end of the end of its life, in terms of viability… but the structure and the ‘bones’ can actually last a lot longer,” said Fred Holt from 3XN in a video interview. “You can’t always retain everything. But if you can retain the structure—and that’s where the majority of your embodied carbon is—then you’re lowering your footprint.”
At first it was unclear how much of the original structure would be saved. Beginning on the project, the team realized the original tower was actually about 4 meters shorter than the original drawings suggested.
Tumblr media
They installed hundreds of sensors to track the tiniest of movements to ensure that by aligning their new construction with the old one, there wouldn’t be any surprises waiting for them at key moments.
In short, the build was a huge success, and the architects boast that walking from the new construction into the old tower is an unnoticeable transition.
Five stacked units with sharp points twist up toward the sky, while an envelope covers both the new extension and the old tower such that no one could tell the difference. Office space was expanded from 4,500 to 9,000 personnel, and the lack of demolition saved AMP around AUD$150 million.
The Quay Quarter Tower, as it’s called, won World Building of the Year upon its opening late in 2022. 3XN hopes it serves as a case study for the future potential in upcycling towers.

miguel tingz that wont leave my brain
a/n: I have a few thoughts on my wife Miguel that echo through the vast emptiness I call my noodle. Please be nice to me this is my first time :,(. Think of this as word vomit, enjoy. Or don't, I don't care, I'm not your mom. Slight NSFW at the end if you squint????
I think this is kinda like he retires as spidey and settles down. He marries (you in this senario) and has a couple kids, now that he doesn't have to save the universe constantly, he's much more relaxed, but his previous life does tend to slip out here or there.
Bro has a dad bod, his arms and legs are thick with muscle, he's still got those big ass hands and super strength. But now he was a chubby tummy, with lots and lots of hair. A thick happy trail that leads down to the base of his thick cock. Arm, leg and chest hair, maybe he's got a bit of a trimmed beard moment?? I feel like he has a short wolf cut now, something kinda shaggy but doesn't touch his neck just yet.
I feel like Miguel enjoys danishes. Stuff with light icing, flaky pastry insides and some sort of berry. I think he'd like cherry or black berry the most. Bear claws too, almond desserts 'n' such. But the danishes are the sweetest thing he can eat. His teeth are really sensitive to cold and sugar. But I like to think he get something sugar-y as a treat for himself very rarely and just powers through the discomfort.
He has a very thought out and meticulous hair routine. Maybe skin too, I dunno...but his bathroom sink is full of fancy product he uses, if you were to use some of it without his knowing, he'd know exactly how much was used by holding the container. He's very precise, mans has spent YEARS perfecting his routine to get everything just so. He likes feeling handsome and clean I feel.
He smells warm. Something cozy, like fresh citrus, firewood and dark chocolate. Paired with his natural musk, bro smells heavenly. He has a lot of colognes, fancy rich guy colognes to be more specific. The man is rolling in it. He keeps the lights on at the Spider Society, that power bill has to be atrocious by just looking at the architect of the building. And his universe is set in the future, so inflation has to make it even worse.
He dances like a dad. Specifically a dad who loves to embarrass his kid(s). Thought this was a normal get together and daddy dearest would finally behave? NOPE. I feel like he has that one song that just sets him off, that one song that makes him have his little 'dance like no body's watching moment'. So much so said kid(s) would shudder as the beginning would play. And he'd maintain eye contact through out it. He's dancing and he's staring his kid(s) down, the ultimate power move, reminding them there's nothing they can do and pops will always be there when they need him the least to embarrass them.
He'd be very warm and sweet and doting to his kid(s) and you, though he can kinda be sassy with them. But anyone outside of his circle, he'd be very cold like how we see him during the movie. He totally talks shit about people he doesn't like to you. "Can you believe Sonia's husband, he's such a tool. I really--I honestly just can't with him..." He'll say as he sighs, massaging his temple as he nurses a glass of red wine.
He's a wine mom, he'll end the week on the couch with a cheesy telenovela that he's lowkey obsessed with though plays it off like it's nothing. Sipping his glass curled up with you, going back and forth between watching the show and gossiping like a auntie. If you work, he needs to know the scoop. Tyler is married to Pamela but Pamela is swapping spit with that Melina? His undivided attention.
He cuddles. If you've every shared a bed with a bernese mountain dog, you know what I'm talking about. His whole body weight on you, his head on your shoulder and his legs tangled with yours. I feel like he sleeps naked, skin on skin, keeping you nice and warm all night long as he snores. He cock warms too, his fat cock pushed deep inside you, your velvet walls cradling his length as you two spoon. If he wakes up first, he'll slowly buck his hips into you with his nose buried into your hair. The sound of soft claps and sweaty grunts as your wake up call.

Georg Jacobsen (Sept. 17, 1887 - 1976) was a Danish painter and art theorist. Jacobsen trained at the Danish Royal Academy, both as an architect and as a painter. He then moved to Paris where he met Diego Rivera and hung out with the Norwegian ex-pat artists. He later became a professor at the Norwegian Academy in Oslo, before returning to Denmark in 1940.
His art was Cubist inspired at first, but after meeting Rivera he became more of a magical realist, as witnessed by this striking still life from Trondheim Kunstmuseum:
The Hare, 1922 - oil on canvas

During their lifetime Arne Jacobsen and Paul Kjaerholm (1929-80) were seen as antagonists but they both introduced new forms and materials to Danish design. Kjaerholm in particular through his almost exclusive use of steel created sleek and restrained pieces of furniture. His preference for steel is all the more surprising as Kjaerholm was a trained carpenter who also attended the Danish School of Arts and Crafts in Copenhagen.
From the mid-1950s on he developed a range of plywood furniture for his friend Ejvind Kold Christiansen but in parallel he also turned to steel as a medium to realize furniture that sounds out the relationship between body, materials and space.
How these designs came about, what inspired Kjaerholm and what he sought to achieve with his design are questions answered in the present monograph: „Paul Kjaerholm“, edited by Christoffer Harlang and published by Arkitektens Forlag in 1999. Besides offering very interesting insights into the work of the designer, mostly documented in beautiful photographs by Keld Helmer-Petersen, the book also sheds light on Kjaerholm the architect who accounts for a number of stunning exhibition designs. Beyond that the monograph also contains a list of the master’s work that is handy for quick referencing. A wonderful book that is as informative and insightful as it is beautiful. Highly recommended!

Here's part 4 of Nanamin Kento headcanons, because I can't stop writing and having so many ideas right now (I know my writer's block is gonna hit me soon so I'm trying to get as much as I can written out)
Enjoy 💙
32. Kento likes doing crosswords and Sudoku. (it makes sense)
33. Contrary to popular belief he actually has a lot of friends from different walks of life. And not the shallow friends but he has a close circle of friends he can rely on professionally and personally. ( I personally think that he spent most of his early school years in Japan but for a year or two he actually went to other countries as an international exchange student that would explain how he is fluent in French and English apart from Japanese, also Dutch because he has a Danish lineage. It would also explain why he has friends at powerful positions all around the world ). One of his international friends who is quite a respected designer in Italy actually tailors all his suits. Also, (bear with me on this) his maternal grandmother could have had the tiniest amount of usable cursed energy that she completely used up when she made little Kento those leopard print ties. She did it to bless him and protect him from curses. Which also explains why he uses his tie as a binder to his "overtime" vow and the left out fabric to wrap his blade. (As they say blessings are more stable and long lasting than curses)
34. Nanamin still visits Yu's sister and her family. He regularly visited her after Yu died and hence formed a brotherly bond. She is married and has a little boy. Her husband and Nanamin are really good friends too.
35. Kento had a pretty wholesome childhood being an only child from both the family lineage. He was dearly loved by all his grandparents. He was pretty close with all of them. (I'm listing off all of their professions and talents here:
Paternal grandmother - she is a calm and very gentle woman doesn't speak much. She has been a housewife all her life. Her talents include cooking comfort food, calligraphy and book binding, handicrafts and origami, flower arranging.
Paternal grandfather - he is a quiet man talks less but is the warmest man you could find. A tad bit Conservative but loves and accepts Nanamin's mom as his own daughter. He is a professional knife and sword maker. His talents include sword forging, sword wielding, knows a lot about fencing and swordsmanship, bonsai, gardening, fruit picking.
Maternal grandmother - she is calm but one fiesty and strong woman. She has always been a housewife. She and Nanamin's paternal grandmother are best friends. She is quick witted and knows her way out of any situation. She is very logical and a genius at finances. Her talents include sewing and knitting, all kinds of clothing making, managing finances, playing traditional musical instruments (she is a quick learner and masters any traditional musical instrument in few months) . Turns out she has very small amounts of cursed energy which she reverses to use as blessings and use to make good luck charms, headstrong, quick - wit.
Maternal grandfather - as we All know he is Danish. He is a warm happy man, talks a lot and loves to cook, very gentle and Kind . He was born in Denmark but his family moved to Japan due to his father's employment when he was 2. He is fluent in Japanese, Dutch and English. He has two professional culinary degrees one from Japan and another from France. He has received culinary training in Japan and then went to France for his internship. He is a professional chef and owns a Michelin star restaurant. His talents include cooking, baking, growing his own vegetables, miniature making in his leisure time, also loves puzzles. He is also a skilled butcher - he could easily cut open almost All kind of meat to properly portion the pieces.
Nanamin's Dad - is an Architect hence his interest in Architecture when he was younger. He Talks a lot even though his parents are quiet people. Headstrong and very responsible person. Absolutely loves his wife and her cooking. His talents include puzzle solving like Sudoku, he is a trained sowrds man because his father is, he has his own Katana. He makes hilarious comic strips, is a gifted painter and loves going through all kind of comics international or local.
Nanamin's mom - is a pastry chef and owns her own bakery. She is generally quiet can be very talkative with right people. She is soft and gentle but she is fiesty and headstrong when she needs to be. She takes to her father and is one of the warmest person you could find. She has the ultimate say when she and Nanamin's dad are arguing. Nanamin's dad complies most of time because she has the most logical and reasonable arguments. She did train to be a chef but chose baking because she likes deserts (reminds of the Baker lady from Kiki's Delivery service). Her talents include baking and cooking, making different kinds of healing tea (most probably she unconsciously uses tiniest amount of reversed cursed energy she inherited from her mother). She is genius at knitting and quilting, managing finances has always been a good forte for her, growing flowers and decorating has always been something she was naturally good at.

Carl Holsøe (Danish,1863-1935)
In the 15th century, a previously unknown type of representation conquered the European art scene. Interiors became popular motifs for paintings and prints. Under the old masters of the Netherlands, interior painting experienced a peak. With the advent of modernism, interior painting experienced a renaissance in Scandinavia. Three Danish artists are considered pioneers who revived the depiction of interiors with their work. They succeeded with great sensitivity in combining the recollection with contemporary developments. Carl Holsøe, Vilhelm Hammershøi and Peter Ilsted were three artists whose working methods were fundamentally different. Carl Holsøe is considered a classical painter. His education followed the traditional career of a son from a home close to education. His father was an architect and his birthplace was Aarhus, a metropolis of artists. Holsøe was educated at the prestigious Royal Danish Academy of Art in Copenhagen and perfected his talent under the tutelage of Peder Severin Krøyer one of the most influential Danish painters of the era.
Note: Carl Holsøe did not date his paintings. I have included dates whenever they were attributed in my image sources, though I assume they're approximate.
