Prince for Hire Pronunciation Guide

Some of the names and whatnot in Prince for Hire kinda look intimidating (...Nelovskevouk...), so after ages, I figured I’d put together a loose pronunciation guide!

The general rule of thumb is that everything is pronounced exactly as it looks. Whatever floats your boat works for me. But here’s generally how I’ve been doing it, below the cut.

Tagging the taglist because worldbuilding stuff: @cactusmotif, @houndsofcorduff, @whimsyqueen, @on-noon, @paradisiacalshroud. Also, some of the previous language development/alphabet stuff is over here.

First off, the alphabet. The only tricky letters here are the ‘C,’ the ‘J,’ and the ‘Y.’ The ‘C’ sound (2nd column, 2nd row) only appears at the front of words, and is basically an ‘S,’ like in ‘silo.’ The ‘J’ sound (2nd column, 3rd row) is more of a ‘y’ sound, like in ‘yarn’ (or ‘bjorn’). Lastly, the ‘Y’ sound (2nd column, 4th row) is pronounced as ‘aye’ (aye aye, captain!) except when at the front of words, where it is pronounced as ‘ee’ (like eek).

Some exceptions to the call it as you see it thing: a word/name ending in a ‘k’ that is not doubled will drop that ‘k’ sound (as in: kulok = koo-low, not kulok = koo-lock). Doubled letters (as in iiriok, thaav, vuun, etc.) give extra stress.

Although there’s some other non-standard pronunciations (and sounds not touched upon by anything in Prince), for the purposes of Prince for Hire, that’s all you need to know to pronounce things just fine--at least, for things originating in the Novgor Plateau. Obviously the Turre, Aghran, and Musmiel pronunciation conventions are going to be a smidge different.

i made a compilation like this for Morten TWO YEARS AGO now (here) and decided to do one for Ra too! and this would be a good excuse to talk a little about him <3

so, Ra (full name Ra'vakka Jo-dar) was born in cyrodiil and adopted by two khajit parents who would raise him in Anvil, where he and his big kitty feet would primarily get in trouble pulling pranks until he grows up and eventually gets into enough trouble to get shipped off to Vvardenfell :( where he promptly is taken advantage of by every empire-friendly organization before discovering he's the Nerevarine--and then he saves the world! but at a big cost :(

in the midst of the main quest, he joins the Mages Guild, the Thieves Guild, and the Fighters Guild as well as House Hlaalu (he's lonely). he's best friends with Balmora mage Ajira ;o; and he fools around a lot until he meets the Hero of Kvatch @renmorris and i share (Farric), and he's then able to hang around for the next 200 years until he gets to hang out with our Dragonborn too <3

so! this is Ra in a few outfits--something comfy i made up, then the Dark Brotherhood armor (which he stole after an attempted assassination), and then glass armor (which he also stole). then i have drawn out pretty much everything he carries with him at all times. below the cut is a description of each!

A. Balrizar's Mazed Band, which he gets from his cosmic ex-girlfriend

B. Caius's Ring--a gift from Caius Cosades that actually has really good stats

C. Amulet of Divine / Almsivi Intervension; he has both that he uses interchangeably to get around a little easier

D. Madstone of the Ahemmusa, which he needs for self-identification as Nerevarine to the Ahemmusa Ashlander tribe (necessary for the prophecy), and he just likes it

E. Moon and Star ring, gifted to him by Azura

F. The Ring, Belt, and Robe of the Hortator, gifted to him by councilors from each Great House to hallmark him taking on that role for each

G. Trueflame, the Nerevarine's prophecied sword that he rebuilt in Mournhold

H. Keening, blade built by Kagrenac in the first era that Ra needs for main plot reasons

I. Sunder, hammer built by Kagrenac in the first era that Ra also needs for main plot reasons

J. Belt of the Armor of God, which he received after solving some murder crimes in Vivec city, and which has stats i quite enjoy

K. Grand Soul Gems, needed for his magic weapons

L. Potions, poltices, usually for health or magic recovery as well as the occasional levitation potion or chameleon / invisibility potion

M. Greater Soul Gems, also needed for his magic weapons

N. Moonsugar--just don't tell anyone! He WOULD carry Skooma as well but I think it's probably not concentrated enough for him. just tastes like sweet water. gotta have the Good Stuff

O. Lockpicks and probes for Sneaking. they break a lot. he's not very good at using them

P. Books for reading on lonely nights, including history books, poetry books, the Lusty Argonian Maid.... which was a gift..... it's probably signed smh

Q. Spell scrolls--lots of conjuration and destruction, although he'll also carry some levitation scrolls

R. Steel Arrows (or really any arrows he picks up)

S. Bonebiter Bow of Sul-Senipal, which he retrieved from a tomb while attempting to befriend the Urshilaku Ashlander tribe

T. Daedric Dai-katana--just a very good long blade he wields most of the time

U. Wraithguard, glove built by Kagrenac to handle his tools, which he Also also needs for main plot reasons

he carries other things with him, like gold and some other weapons, but these are all the important things i wanted to sketch out. love my little kittyboy

This shit is long, get ready!

Connor has a big “family”

Like, they keep popping out babies and shit

He wasn’t the oldest, but he wasn’t the youngest so he wasn’t paid that much attention growing up

Because he has a big “family”, they focus most of their money on taking care of the younger kids so Connor and his siblings went to a school that taught all grades (K-12 since he’s American)

Well, that or they spend it on themselves when they drink or party and are basically hungover the rest of the week

Anyway, on the first day of 4th grade, he accidentally sits in the wrong class that’s meant for 8th graders and by the time he realizes what’s happened, he’s become a star student in less than an hour

When he explains what’s happened, the teacher notices Connor’s intelligence and tells Connor to meet him after school

There, the teacher gives Connor a bunch of paper tests, vaguely explaining each section before making him take them

He gets every single question right.

That’s why a week later, him and his “parents” are sitting with the principal who wants to move Connor up by 4 grades and put into a program for advanced children

This comes with many benefits for Connor since this is the most grades someone in their district has skipped

One of the benefits of the program is money

Lots of money

Because Connor’s “family” doesn’t have enough money, the school district sends a decent amount of some to them to specifically pay for Connor’s education and supplies

And they use it for just that…

…sometimes

Other times, his “parents” use it on themselves or give it to some of the older kids who live in the basement claiming they’re “making history”

The rest of the time, he’s looked over and never gets help from them

When he tries, they tell him to “do it yourself, you’re always so fucking annoying.”

To Connor, this behavior was normal

He never paid attention, no one paid attention, and when they did, it was all about money that they just threw away like it was trash

Like Connor was trash

Him being smart didn’t mean anything, not to him and especially not to his “family”

No one gave a crap about that

Connor didn’t even care he was smart, in fact he hated it more than anything

Being smart made him draw attention to himself, being called a nerd or a privileged white kid who amounts to nothing

Please, please for the love of god, someone take his intelligence away

Everything came so easy, he barely tried and he aced everything and everyone hated him for it

They thought he didn’t deserve to be there, he was a lazy, good for nothing kid who was nothing more than a bank for the people he lived with to withdraw money from

He wasn’t meant for anything else

That was his way of thinking until he was 14 and in his last year of high school

Remember the teacher from before?

He’s been helping Connor ever since he started the program, offering him advice, counseling, tutoring, he was there for him

Connor never paid attention to him, he was just someone he’d never see again because after he graduates, he planned to become a hermit and become useless to his “family” so they’d get off his back.

One day, he tells said teacher this, he explains everything and spills his guts and feelings to someone who he didn’t even care for

This teacher, his teacher, tells him he can be anything he wanted to be. He knows it’s cliché but it’s true, because Connor is a smart kid. He’s a good kid with a good future ahead of him, surrounded by good people who aren’t his family.

A family is people who support you, a family are people who stick by your side when stuff goes wrong. They help you, let you cry and take care of you when you’re in your darkest hour.

That’s what Connor amounts to

He can amount to more if he wanted

He’s young, he’s smart, and the teacher has connections to people who can help Connor find a good school and a good job away from his “family”

And for the first time ever, Connor says thank you and means it

So he goes to school

A fancy one, a really nice college that actually challenges him to think and process thinks longer so they sink into his brain

He’s still in the program, which sends him money, but this time he makes his own bank account to store it in for the future and the others are pissed

Insanely pissed

They start yelling at him, and they’ve yelled before but this was different

They called him worthless, lazy, ungrateful piece of shit, selfless, and that they never cared about him in the first place

And while he doesn’t show it, he’s hurt

He knows they never really cared, but to admit they never cared about him at any point in time is painful

He talks to the teacher, who’s he’s kept in contact with and like a parent he never had, he hugs Connor and tells him he’s sorry and that things will be okay

And while he doesn’t believe it for a while, he thinks they will

So, after 6 years of college, his “family” finds him packing all his things with the teacher, Connor saying he got a job far away from them

They yell at him as he puts his things into his car, which he bought himself, and he ignores them as he hugs the teacher one more time before saying thank you to him again

Then he drives away, his “family” still yelling as the teacher smiles proudly

After he meets Schlatt, everything changes for him

He’s happy for the first time in his life, motivated, laughing, cheerful and he loves it

Schlatt is the coolest person he knows, and they eventually do everything together

This is the first friend Connor has and it’s fucking awesome.

Before he knows it, they’ve moved in together and start their own business

Connor feels, like he’s home…

Like he has a family.

A real family.

Sure, add Quackity in with the two of them because the short-ass motherfucker is with them everyday and he thinks they’ve become friends

…then he comes back home.

Wait, don’t call it home.

It’s isn’t home, Origins is home, Schlatt and Quackity are home

The only reason he’s back is because he didn’t want to seem like a dick in front of Schlatt

And he immediately regrets it

They demand money from him after they heard he got rich and when he refuses, they slash his tires, take his keys and phone and told him that he was staying until he paid up

Because apparently his dying “uncle” can wait that long

The longer he stays, the faster things fall back into the way they were

Connor being lazy and unmotivated, depressed and tired, as his family keeps pestering him about the money

Eventually, he kinda forgets what’s going on as he doesn’t leave the basement for days as thing s fall into this routine of him saying no and getting food

Then he just, lives there.

Doesn’t leave the house, cooks sometimes and makes small talk with the others and he thinks things are okay

One day, he’s cleaning and he accidentally finds his phone, his old phone that was taken away

Dozens of messages and calls from people back home that were years ago -

Years?!

Connor feels sick

There’s texts conversations he doesn’t remember having saying he hated everyone in his contacts and he never wants to talk to them again

Even to Schlatt

His best friend, his brother, his family, and he didn’t do anything

He realizes his “family” did this, and is pissed

Insanely pissed

He immediately begins to clean himself up, shower, shave and manages to find some tires in the basement for his car, and makes a mess of the house looking for the keys

When the others get home, he tells them he’s done

He’s done with them, he’s done with this lifestyle, for fucks sakes, he should’ve called the police for especially kidnapping their son

Not even their son, because they didn’t care about him. So he’s done.

Fuck them, fuck the house, fuck whatever kid that’ll come from his “mother” after she gets knocked up again after sleeping with the neighbor for the 200th time because he’s leaving and never coming back

The others are two shocked to stop him and he just gets in his car and leaves

When he gets back, it’s 2am and Schlatt is in the kitchen drinking whiskey

He looks at Connor and tells him to leave

He tries to explain but Schlatt stops him, saying he doesn’t get to just come back after all this time and expect things to be okay

Connor left Schlatt. Said he meant nothing to him and was just gone

Connor tries to explain again, he honestly does, but Schlatt isn’t having it and mid sentence punches his best friend in the face

Before he knows it, Schlatt is beating up Connor. Not life sustaining injuries but they still hurt

Schlatt cries and stops after a minute, and tells Connor that everything hurts and everything’s changed and how much the two of them are the absolute worst people on earth

Before Connor can apologize, Schlatt’s breath becomes short, before he skunks over Connor and passes out -

Holy fuck, he’s having a heart attack

KaruShuu OTP Questions

Ah- I created ehhh 4?? I suppose KaruShuu head-canons posts today but do I regret it? Absolutely not, I loved it. So here you go, have another one, don't be shy, read it.

Also, please keep in mind that these head-canons are completely made up by me in a way of that it's just how I would see it sksksk also here, KaruShuu would be probably adults?? Also married??

Who is the most affectionate? Sinceee they got married, I'm sure the longer into the relationship, the more they have opened up to each other? Karma would be the type to wake up first in the morning and kiss Shuu good morning, but since Shuu is an early bird, he would wake up before Karma and make breakfast for him. Thats how he shows affection ❤️🧡

Most common argument? Sad to think that they NeEd to argue 🙄💅 but oh well- I thinkkk they would argue over super silly things. For example what to watch (If you have read my previous head canons, you will know what I mean by 'Shrek Marathons'):

"Let's watch something"

"Sure, what do you have in mind?''

Karma would just grin over to Shuu and Shuus eyes would widen, "Hell no"

"Absolutely ye-"

"Karma don't you dAR-"

They ended up watching (again for the 12 time this week) Shrek.

Who apologizes first? Karma apologies fly out of his mouth faster than they stop arguing. Karma would rather apologize than not let them talk for the next few hours.

Favorite (non-sexual) activity to do together? They enjoy getting massage! Ifff KaruShuu was too lazy to go out to get a professional massage for a few hours, they would do it to each other. (It usually ends with them making out later on but I'll delete that part)

Who is most likely to carry the other? Karma would carry Shuu ❤️😩 Ugh bridal style to embarrass him 💀💅

Nicknames?

For Karma, by Shuu: Tamponhead (I used this one in my fanfic and I will forever love it), Moron, Karma. Tbh, I don't think neither like these pet-names or nicknames since that think they are 'cringy'.

Tho, Karma has quite a few: Shuu (Main, he doesn't use 'Gakushuu' but when he does, Shuu melts lol), Pumpkin, Orange, pumpkin pie, Strawberry shortcake (bc he loves strawberries so why not call Shuu one 😌🤚🏻), Sugar cube (Idk I think it's cute, tho I don't know if that's even a nickname- 💀💀)

Also a note: They would definitely not use 'baby', 'babe', 'honey' bc- noooo 😩💀

Who proposes? Karma 💅

Who sings along with the radio? Karma would sing along but he is horrible at singing and Shuu makes him KNOW it by him singing and Karma shuts up but finds it hilarious at the same time.

Who worries most? Both do, depending on the situation. Shuu would be worried about stuff like paying taxes or things like that, meanwhile Karma is worried for Shuus health, if he is eating enough as well as getting enough sleep every night. Shuu is a hardworking bee after all ✨

Who always wants to take selfies with the other? Karma wants to, for example they are traveling somewhere for vacation and Karma wants to take as many pics as possible with his husband so he can later on put them into an album ❤️😩 (KaruShuu as a married couple >>>>)

Who is embarrassed to take their clothes off in front of the other? Lmao no matter for how long they are already together, no matter if they are married, no matter how many times they had done it, Shuu would be the one to be embarrassed about it every time.

Who tops? ...Okay so here, personally as someone who writes Fanfics, Karma tops. Always. I just- I just can't imagine Shuu as a top?? my friends gave me some really valid reasons for Shuu to be a top but I just can't see it 😩

Who initiates kisses? Both I guess? But mostly Karma

Who reaches for the other's hand first? Oooo here an example! If they are driving in the car, and Karmas hand is free, Shuu usually reaches for it but as soon as Karma needs it to drive, he has to let go. Or if they are in the cinema - Shuu would definitely hold onto Karmas hand the whole time - as comfort, since they usually watch Horror movies together so yea 😌

Who kisses hardest? Who is most ticklish? Both is Karma, but when it comes to tickling, even tho Karma is more ticklish, he is also stronger than Shuu so he can easily pin him down and tickle him, just for the sake to see Shuu giggle which kills him bc God damnit isn't he adorable?

Who brings an animal they found home? Lol depends on the animal. I would say Karma is a cat person and Shuu is a dog person b u t Shuu is allergic to cats so they can't have cats. But I think if Karma would be the one to bring an animal home, it would be a dog.

Who holds the umbrella for the other when it's raining? Karma's shoe laces often get untangled, so when Karma bends to tie them, Shuu stands over him with an umbrella to keep the rain from pouring on him.

Who tries to playfully embarrass the other in public? Karma 😭

Who kills the scary bugs? Oh lemme tell you about this one:

Shuu HATES bugs, since he always had the feeling of his father having a bunch of centipedes around himself whenever he acted manipulative and so on so he hates them. So one time when Shuu was taking a shower, and Karma was in the kitchen, Shuu suddenly screeched so Karma went to check on him. He walked onto a Shuu, covering himself with a towel and looking absolutely T E R R I F I E D at the ceiling, stuttering. Karma was hella confused so he looked up and oop here we go, a spider. Karma obv took the spider off the ceiling to free it, but first he had to tease and scare his husband a little by walking towards the shower stall, "Shuu look~ He wants to be friends with you~", the way Shuu screamed at this made almost all of the windows in the apartment break.

Who asks the weird questions at random in the middle of the night? Karma does that on a daily basis, but when Shuu is a little bit drunk, he would ask weird questions to which Karma never has an answer but he jokes around.

Who hogs the blankets? Karma hogs them and Shuu ends up having a cold the next morning 😭

Who wakes up first? Shuu is an early bird, but Karma wakes up first for work.

Who wants to stay in bed just a bit longer? On weekends, they both stay in bed a bit longer to cuddle ❤️💕

Who always makes coffee for the other each morning? Karma makes coffee for Shuu before he leaves for work 🥰

Who cries during certain films or when reading sad books? Lmao Karma cries during Shrek every time the scene comes up where Shrek had an argument with Donkey 😔

Who gets scared during horror films? Shuu 😩😩 He would (as said before) take Karmas hand for comfort

Who tells their friends/family about the relationship first? Lmao none since GakuHOE is well, a hoe so they won't trust him b u t I have the feeling of Karmas mom being actually super supportive?? But they wouldn't tell her, she would just get the hint and then when she receives the wedding invite she goes "oh-".

What do their friends/family think of the relationship? Rio was shipping this since the beginning of middle school aight, she loves it and she even threw a party for them. #IstanRioNakamura

Who wears the other's jacket? Shuu is the one to wear long coats, and Karma those thicc jackets. Shuu usually gets super cold even with the coat on, so Karma gives Shuu his jacket on top of the coat lol.

Who uses cheesy pickup lines? Karma- anywhere. Have an example:

"Hey Shuu, could you feel the shirt?", he asked Shuu while they went shopping and Karma wAsN't sure about his T-Shirt choice so Shuu was running his fingers slightly over Karmas chest with the shirt still on and thinking about the material, then Karma went: "Know what it's made of?", and Shuu looked at him and was about to answer him, but Karma was quicker and continued, "Boyfriend material", ObViOuSlY with a grin and Shuu was a gay blushing mess 💅 but then Shuu went along, "What do you mean boyfriend? I can only see Husband material", and tuRNED AWAYYYYY~

Who whispers inappropriate things in the other's ear during inappropriate times? AAAA I T H I N K I've written sum like this before- So two things that happened:

KaruShuu were invited to a funereal or sum and pls the church was quiet and stuff but obv Karma had to joke around and he leaned over to Shuus ear and whispered a joke into his ear which made our stubborn Shuu giggle and the church was this close👌 to throw them out lmao

Shuu was at work, and Karma likes to call him randomly, but oh well Shuu picks up and Karma starts to tease him over the phone maybe something very sexual stuff (knowing Karma he would) and Shuu just- he is sitting at his desk and his workers are giving him looks about why is he blushing so much.

Who makes the other laugh most? Karmas jokes always make Shuu laugh, sometimes even cry since they are hilarious.

Who would have to bail the other out of jail? Oh my God- Shuu would have to bail Karma out of jail maybe during college years, but I think Karma would mature a bit more as an adult

What would be their theme song? YOOO- A WHOLE PLAYLIST WOULD BE NEEDED-

Who would sing their child back to sleep? OOO!! Karma would be the type to read stories, but Shuu would sing them to sleep :D

What do they do when they're away from each other? I can imagine that they both have those business trips from time to time, so when they are apart, they FaceTime each other every evening to check on each other. Yes indeed they must stay at fancy hotels for their business trips and they are being served food, but they still check that the other one is eating and sleeping well. Oh and good morning and goodnight texts™️🥰

A headcanon about them that stabs your feels? Oh- oH GOD- That maybe they tend to act very distant at first in their relationships?? Or more cold? For example Shuu, he would not really know nor show much affection to Karma and Karma at first thinking that Shuu doesn't love him at all (which isn't true bc Shuu loves him deeply) but then he after some time figures it out when Shuu opens up to him more.

A headcanon that mends the previous one? That they both after some time spend together, have the opportunities to open up to each other, know each other better as well as find out each others weaknesses and strengths which makes their relationship stronger. I absolutely love them ❤️😩

Notes: In this AU Kal Skirata has common sense and Etain doesn’t drink dumb bitch juice.(As @phantom-of-the-keurig would say) So Darman learns about their baby and they live happily ever after. Niner never breaks his back, Fi never goes braindead for a bit. Sev is FINE. Etain never died a horrible death by another Jedi. The Omega boys are fine and happy at Kyrimorut!!!

“Kad’ika get back here!” Darman shouted, chasing after the naked toddler. The kid was now running, and he was an absolute terror. Kad squealed with joy as he tried to hide under one of the couches in the common room. He had just given the kid a bath, and now he was dirty again!

Jaing and Vau sat in the common room, watching with great amusement as Darman tried to grab the toddler out from under the couch. He finally captured Kad, holding him up with a scowl on his face. “You’re a pain sometimes.” Darman couldn’t hold his scowl any longer, Kad’s adorable face too cute to be mad at.

Darman held the squirming toddler against his hip, Kad babbling with toddler rage and excitement. “Would you like to borrow one of Mird’s leashes?” Walon Vau suddenly spoke, the shaggy Strill stretched out on his lap.

“I might just take you up on that offer.” Darman spoke through clenched teeth as Kad chewed on his hand. Vau nudged Mird off his lap, standing up. Etain walked into the room as Walon walked out, making sure to politely say good morning as he passed her. “I thought you just gave him a bath Dar?” Darman looked at his wife and squinted.

“I did, then he ran under one of the dusty couches.” Etain laughed and took the toddler from his father, kissing his forehead. “Are you being naughty to your buir?” Etain pouted at her son, causing Kad to frown at his mother.

Darman yawned and put his hands on his hips, “It’s your turn to bathe the little womp rat.” Etain sighed and nodded, holding the dirty baby on her hip. Darman grinned at her, Etain only glared back.

“Here.” Vau spoke as he hands Darman a black leather leash. “Darman! Walon! We are not putting a leash on Kad!!!” Walon chuckled slightly and Darman scoffed. “He needs one though!” Etain put her empty hand on her hip and glared hard, the mom glare coming naturally to her now.

Walon grabbed the Strill leash back, slowly leaving the room. Darman sighed loudly, he was in for a scolding now.

*A few minutes later*

Darman sat beside the bathtub, washing the toddler. Again. “See we’re both in trouble now.” Darman playfully glared at his giggling son. Kad squealed with toddler joy and blew a raspberry at him. Darman blew one back, the fake glare still on his face.

hmmm, acho que a cat deve se aconchegar nele, deitando meio no peito/ombro dele, enquanto ele abraça. nos dias que eles tão muito amorzinho, de conchinha mesmo.

cringe, mas, simplesmente, a companhia um do outro. estando juntos eles tão legais, mas se fosse escolher algo eu diria que irem em museus ou almoçarem/jantarem juntos.

ainda que os dois sejam muito orgulhosos, também são quase dependentes um do outro, então depende do nível da briga. o máximo que eles devem ter ficado brigados pra valer, sem se falar, foi um mês e pouco (a briga depois do prom k), mas, geralmente, depois de uns dois, três dias eles já se resolvem.

o henrik tem cara de quem toma chá, mas, independente, acho que ele deve ser bem pretencioso e sempre pedir o mais básico/clássico possível, o tipo de pessoa que fala que os iced coffe do tiktok não é café e sim milkshake. já a cat ela não é aquelas meninas com pedidos impossíveis e longos, mas odeia coisa amarga (e ama iced coffe), então sempre pede algo com leite e caramelo - mas leite de amêndoas.

eu acho que no primeiro natal dos dois como namorados eles devem ter inventado alguma desculpa e ficado na faculdade, ao invés de voltar pra nova york, principalmente se o james ainda estivesse enchendo o saco; deve ter sido algo bem simples (pra eles), mas foi incrível. já depois de casados, eu imagino que a catherine tenha insistido em dar a festa de natal da família e levou todo mundo a loucura (henrik aos empregados) tentando deixar tudo perfeito, afinal, primeiro ano sendo uma van helsing, tinha que provar ser suficiente.

I generally appreciate a ton of things about your blog and have read all the Marauders/Lily tagged stuff. Severus is my favourite character. Keep it up! I did end up down a rabbit hole from one of your old re-blogs about James having rectangular glasses (spoiler: he didn't) and I am now absolutely convinced the Mary/Mulciber/Dar k Magic conundrum is Levicorpus. It always bothered me that perhaps Snape WAS really dark at school...? and this has given me a bit of chill about the whole thing :)

Thank you so much for reading! I think that the perception of “darkness” in Harry Potter is often an “ends justify the means” situation. Nobody really blinks an eye when Harry uses Unforgivable Curses, or when James uses Levicorpus, because they are “good” characters using bad spells on “bad” characters. Obviously that doesn’t make “bad” characters using (or inventing!) these bad spells any less accountable. But it does feel intellectually dishonest to call Snape “dark” at school for minimizing Mulciber’s Levicorpus (a bad thing, to be clear!) and then not hold James accountable for using it just the same. (Lily’s separate but believably flawed approach to both dudes for doing essentially the same exact thing is very annoying for this reason!)

Laechesis Blog-isms - Part 1: the Hike

NOTE: This is based off of the Vargas training camp event that has recently come out. The event is changed to where it involves the main cast, plus the girl OCs me and my Sisters made up. This is going to be told in Camera form, with Laechesis recording (one of the 3 fates OCs my sister made up. Shoutout to my sis, @extremelywonderfulplaces!!)

--- In the Mirror Hall ---

Laechesis: *activates Camera* K, peeps, this is me, Laechesis and my classmates and I are on a Camping trip. We have a good half of the school with us, including dorm leaders, so this outta be fun!

--- outside in the courtyard. Many students are gathered, looking over their supplies. ---

Laechesis: Okay, so here we have our dorm members looking over our supplies. *shows Atropes, Clotho and Ortho looking over their stuff. Camera then zooms to Idia, who is sitting in the corner, playing his Nintendo switch.* Idia, what's your opinion on Camp so far?"

Idia: Camp is a pain in my ass and I wanna go back to the dorm.

Laechesis: Okaaaaaay, let's check on the girls. *camera turns to Atropes and Clotho* How is Camp so far?

Clotho: Camp hasn't even started yet, and I'm excited!!!

Atropes: Heck yeah! Plus, it's not just gonna be us!' *camera zooms towards other students, who are looking over their supplies.*

Laechesis: well then, let's go ask around and see what everyone else thinks of this camping trip *camera fizzes out and then shows Members of Savannaclaw, looking over their luggage*

Leona: Ugh... so noisy. I just wanna nap. To answer your question, Retna, no. I'm not.

Taai: Leona may not be excited, but we sure are.

Ruggie: heck yeah! The wilderness is an all you can eat buffet! Shishishishi~

Jack: I'm excited as well. I've been camping with my little siblings and it was fun. Plus, this is a chance for me to test my strength.

Laechesis: Great! Now that we have our answers from Savannaclaw, let's move to the members of Scarabia *Camera fizzes before it's on Kalim and the members of the Scarabia* Kalim! You excited for camp?

Kalim: You bet! This is my first time camping so this outta be fun. Jamil, Sahara, Shi and Amee are also pretty excited.

Shi: *mutters* not really

Amee: *shakes her head*

Jamil: Well, I normally don't like getting dragged around by Kalim, but I'll admit, I'm pretty excited to be on this trip.

Sahara: You kidding me?! I'm lucky Vil is bringing extra make-up! I won't last a day without that.
