SOOOOOOOO I finished reading Terms and Conditions by Lauren Asher. I swear to God I haven't read a better billionaire book before. I personally love grumpy x sunshine + fake dating/marriage tropes. So this book was perfect for me. I do have a little issues with the way the father was dealt but that is alright. I WAS LITERALLY SCREAMING throughout the book because THE TENSION was ultimate. If stares could cut, they both would be chopped into million pieces by now.

My favorite quotes:

“she taught me how anyone can buy a house, but not everyone can buy a home. With a house, you can buy it, sell it, renovate it. But a home is more abstract. It's not a place, but a feeling I can’t describe, so you'll just have to take my work for it.”

“She is taken away for a few scans, and my breaking doesn't return to normal until the nurse brings her back. That should be my first sign that things are getting out of hand on my end. I'm inching closer to an emotional minefield without any kind of map, only one wrong step away from exploding” — Declan Kane page number 236.

“Maybe I am losing it because why else would I care? You hate when she cries. You wouldn't mind murdering someone who hurt her. You took her to the hospital even though you despise them with every fiber of your being. The signs all point to one thing: our situation is quickly crumbling, and I’? The only one to blame.” -- Declan Kane

“If I catch you talking to Iris again, whether about business or not, I'll release this to the public. No questions asked. No second chances. I don't care if you need to use a damn smoke signal to get in contact with me, so long as you leave my wife out of it.”

It's only a matter of time before I make her mine. She just doesn't know it yet.”

“Declan’s laugh is a weapon of mass seduction, and I’m it's biggest target. It’s rough and unpracticed, and it makes a tingle shoot down my spine.” — Iris Kane page number 269.

So a part of his inheritance rule is that Declan should have a family, including a baby. Page number 385: “what if I’m not ready? What if this is all too much all at once and I can't handle a new relationship and a new baby?”

His throat Bob. “Then we wait.”

“Even if it means holding off on you becoming CEO?”

“Even then.”

Now remember, this is the man who literally went ahead with a fake marriage to get the inheritance and become CEO. He is speaking like this. Wow. Talk about head over heels love.

So, they talk in this forein words. Like when they can't explain how they are feeling they say these words. These are a few of my favorites:

Yuafen: A predestined infinity

Kilig: a feeling of exhilaration or elation caused by an exciting or romantic experience

Merak: to do something with pleasure

Mamihlapinatapai: a look shared between two people, each wishing that the other would initiate something that they both desire but which neither wants to begin.

THIS BOOK HAS FINISHED ME. I LOVE IT SO MUCH! I did not read the first book: Fine Print. But if this is how it is going to be, hell I am buying it right now. Rowan and Zahara's story is more like a fairytale I heard but Terms and Conditions is a matured relationship is what I felt.

But Declan and Iris Kane remind me the most of Ethan and Naomi. He’s grumpy, jaded and old(er) with unresolved parental issues and could greatly benefit from a therapist, she’s bubbly, energetic and impulsive like Naomi.

I just love them so much. Mostly Iris, she’s my baby, and he’s okay I guess 😂

Lauren Asher is the reason why I have unrealistic expectations of men at this point, her writing is just too good.

“Terms and Conditions,” the second book in the “Dreamland Billionaires” series, alternates between Declan Kane and his assistant Iris’ points-of-view. Declan’s character was briefly introduced in book one, but this novel sheds light on the reasoning behind his cold exterior. Through his viewpoint, the reader learns that he was physically abused by his father after his mother passed away from cancer. As an adult, he learned to isolate himself to avoid feeling the pain that comes with losing people.

Iris is the sunshine to Declan’s grumpy, but she did not grow up without hardship. Before he left, Iris’ father was verbally and physically abusive towards her mother. As a result, Iris developed deep-seated trust issues despite her mother and grandmother’s best efforts to make sure she grew up in a loving environment.

Iris agrees to marry Declan so that he can fulfill his inheritance clause and become the next CEO of his family’s media empire. Their marriage is supposed to be merely contractual, but it does not take long for them to realize that their differing personalities only deepen their love for one another rather than keep them from developing feelings—making for an addicting read.

Like the novel that came before it, “Terms and Conditions” has fantastic diverse representation. Within the first few chapters, Asher establishes that Iris is a person of color and dyslexic. Iris acknowledges that her learning disorder is a part of her, but she does not let it define her. Instead, she views her reading dis/ability as motivation to work harder, which many readers may find empowering.

Because the “Dreamland Billionaires” series is made up of interconnected standalones, characters from “The Fine Print” and “Final Offer” make appearances. I particularly enjoyed catching up with Rowan and Zahra and seeing a new side of their relationship! I also loved reading chapters surrounding Iris and Cal’s friendship—it is so wholesome. Cal’s strong presence in “Terms and Conditions” gives the reader insight into his character in preparation for reading “Final Offer,” the final book in the series.

My thoughts:

The second book in the dreamland billionaires series was just as good as the first one for me. I loved getting to see Declan in a new light, rather than just as the stern older brother. I absolutely adored Iris as a character. Their relationship really progressed so naturally. The little moments were just as beautiful as the big moments.

Language and words played a big role in their relationship and I honestly found it beautiful. I really enjoyed the cameos of Zara and Rowen. Seeing their interactions with the entire family was super fun! A highlight from the book was definitely Cal and Iris' friendship. Lauren Asher just writes the kinds of romance I can't get enough of honestly.

Following Declan and Iris, this book had everything the first book did but did it a tad better. The drama, the banter and the smut had me hooked from the very first chapter. I found it quite interesting that these characters had a connection that pre-dated the book, unlike the first couple, as it made for an intensely emotional connection. I absolutely loved that this book had so much character development, not only from the main characters, but also the side ones. It was fantastic to watch Declan and Iris work together to form a connection outside of work, as well as strengthen their working relationship. I very much enjoyed Rowan and Zahra playing their part in this book, as it showed the progress of their relationship very well. I also can’t wait for Cal’s book to come out; Cal featured in some of my favourite scenes. THE BOOK I AM READING RIGHT NOW

MARRIAGE FOR ONE by Ella Maise

I am super excited to see how things change. I am more than half way through and all of the time I am literally squealing like a seal. But what I want to say is I see a lot A LOT of similarities between Terms and Conditions, Twisted Lies, and Marriage for One.

I really REALLYY want to see a crossover between Declan-Iris x Jack-Rose x Christian-Stella. The men will bond over how much of a simp they are for their women and the women will bond over how their grumpy men changed into a softie 😭❤️ it would be so interesting considering the events and the way the story unfolds is very very similar in all the three books. Regardless, I know I am going to love it!!

Marriage of convenience - Fake dating - Enemies to Lovers: These three tropes are my favorite is what I am realising! (In descending order) but these are my top 3 favorite tropes ❤️

The Kane brothers have officially won me over. I thought Rowan had elevated my standards for men but Declan completely bulldozed right over them and set them even higher. Like SIR. PLSSSS.

Declan Kane, like Rowan, is a billionaire with very apparent daddy issues. Welcome to the club. Aside from the obvious, I think the way Declan's issues with being the eldest and the role he played for his brothers in the environment they were raised in was touching. While Rowan's "person" was his grandfather, Declan's "person" was his mother, and the bond they shared illustrated in the book is so heartwarming. I don't know how else to say this, but it's FUCK SETH KANE 'til the day I die. I have never hated a fictional father more in my life, and maybe it's my own rooted daddy issues being projected but seriously.. fuck the guy.

Iris has my whole heart. A total gem. She is truly the only person who can stand up to Declan and put him in his place. Despite her learning disabilities, which were handled with SUCH care, she has gotten as far as she has through all of the hard work she puts in to succeed. She has a lot of spunk and personality, and I absolutely love that she is fun spirited enough to quickly become friends with Zahra and be besties with Cal.

CALLAHAN KANE. LORD JESUS. The way I am so in love with this man and it wasn't even his book. I just KNOOOW that I am going to fall to my knees when I read his book because he did NOT DISAPPOINT. A true best friend, someone who will go up to bat for you and protect you. I truly can't wait!!!

DECLAN AND IRIS TOGETHER?! LOOOOOOOOOORDY. Marriage of convenience might slowly become my new favorite trope because THE WAY I GOBBLED THIS UP. "Our marriage might be fake, but these feelings burning inside me are anything but" (257). This line had me going absolutely feral. Especially in a dual POV, *chef's kiss* it's the best!!!

Overall, Lauren Asher KNOWS how to write a grumpy x sunshine relationship. I am utterly obsessed with the way she writes each and the GROVELING!!!!!!!! It's perfect and FITTING. The ending made my heart melt, and I cried. OH!!!! AND I AM A TOTAL SUCKER FOR WHEN THE BOOK TITLE IS REFERENCED WITHIN THE BOOK.

"It's a shame you don't laugh like that more often" I lift my hand and cup her chin. "Maybe I finally have a reason to" (298).
