I originally posted this over at Hoyolab and people there seemed to really like my favorite joke theory that Crepus just tries to gaslight the whole of Mondstadt right after obtaining Kaeya

Majority of this will be the same but with little tweaks for the wonderful tumblr audience

This joke stems from Kaeya's introduction:

Initially I had the idea of Crepus walking around the markets one day carrying Kaeya with Diluc beside him running into Varka who asks:

"Who's the boy?"

"You mean my son?"

"Not Diluc the boy you're carrying"

"I have two sons? You know this??"

But then the Caribert quest came out mentioning Kaeya ran away from home near immediately and was dragged home by Crepus just as fast and it became even funnier

Cause imagine you're by the docks one day and richest man in town gets off the boat with no cargo but instead a tiny child you may not have seen before that Crepus seems to be very cross with at the moment and threatening to turn him into a leash kid if he runs off again

In a small town that loves gossip do you know how fast that information is spreading? Cause I do and Varka's knocking on Crepus's door 30 minutes later like:

"Is this what we're doing? We're just taking kids now?"

Both paths lead to Varka asking where Kaeya comes from and getting hit with a

"I think you're a bit too old to still be confused about the birds and the bees Varka"

Varka getting frustrated to the point he just starts demanding Kaeya tell him what's up

Love to see him following in his fathers footsteps of stressing Varka the fuck out

And upon hearing how his birth father left for juice and didn't return Varka went

"Good! That was ALL I needed to know!!"

Follow ups on if his father intended to abandon him or got lost in the storm and needed a search party?

And then the last bonus: Venti wakes up, walks in through the gate while playing a tune, and stops when he sees the poster, not sure if he needs to start yet another revolution, or if this one is fine actually

I imagine the posters had to be taken down because visitors were losing their kids left and right and the solution of parents pinning a note saying "not dead & still want custody" to their kids shirt didn't catch on but the saying still lives strong in the hearts of Mondstadt's citizens I mean look Bennett and his 27 dads Mondstadt may have a lot of orphans but the demand is even higher

The both of you were at a banquet hosted by the fatui after all, he had to stay longer and taste all the beverages available, it’s to show that he’s truly cherishing and admiring the cryo archon —that’s what he told you after gobbling down the fifth shot—, now babbling incoherent words of weird shit you weren’t able to decipher even if you tried your hardest. You did know it was something about a dark secret of his, (that’s how he made it sound like if you were being honest) before he bursted out screaming that he was horny.

drunk! ayato who was so cocky at first, kind of ignorant if you squint, telling you that he’s not getting drunk easily, what’s a few gulps of those tasty wines after all? thoma got it from mondstadt for him to taste and relish in, what kind of lord would he be if he weren’t going to drink it since it‘s a gift he got. To your surprise he did hold up a bit longer than expected, yet in the end he was starting to get a bit weird. Was giggling about literally every single thing you said like it didn’t even matter what it was (you could just say one single random word and he‘d go HAHAHA), —and his cackles were so loud as well—, cheeks a cute rosy tint and if you were being honest, in a way he was fucking adorable in your eyes!

drunk! kaeya who was way too happy that you were accompanying him to the tavern tonight. He loves quality time together after all! Resulted in him ordering way too many drinks though, —to show you his favorites and impress you a bit hehe—, yet while you stayed with the drink you ordered, somebody had to get rid of the rest that kaeya so carelessly bought. The way he gobbled them up was beyond belief if you were being honest, it didn’t take him long to finish the drinks and that’s when it hit him like a truck in an isekai anime. Cheeks heated up, radiating warmth while he was getting utterly clingy, hugging you tightly while introducing you to literally every single person in the tavern as his s/o. <3

drunk! diluc who’s fighting with himself right now. He’s drunk as fuck but literally tells himself that he isn’t. He would start babbling weird shit to himself too, something like, —you’re not drunk diluc, get over yourself—, over and over again in hopes to trick his mind somehow yet that’s not how it worked. You felt bad for laughing but it was way too funny watching him try his hardest to play sober when in reality his mind was threatening to turn blank. Diluc was absolutely disgusted by alcohol, yet even he had to consume it sometimes when important guests would come to visit the winery for some quality beverages. He’s writing himself a mental note to switch it up with grape juice and pretend for it to be alcohol again for the next time.  

drunk! kazuha who's a little sleepy head, as we all know by now. He just can't help himself, really. His head just grows so heavy, thank the archons you're by his side so he can properly rest it on your shoulder. The way he's slowly unraveling into a little whiny baby is beyond adorable, cooeing sweet things against the shell of your ear before slowly dozing of in a deep slumber, —don’t forget he’s still on your shoulder though—. You truly couldn't get enough of his precious facial expression but at some point you got to get him home safely somehow, good luck with that because he‘s not going to be much of a help!

drunk! heizou who’s tripping over every single second, getting him actually home was a much harder mission than you at first anticipated. "step, step, step." he‘s giggling while chanting that word, over and over again. If he wasn’t that cute you would’ve smacked his head by now, you were sure the word 'step' would be stuck in your head forever now mixed with the random melody heizou was adding on. Finally reaching your home, you had to stop him from actually tripping over again the moment he headed in before he fell flat on the couch, knocked out immediately too. The way he was laying there made his hair strands hanging loosely around his beautiful heated up face, he was so pretty even when drunk like this! bewitching almost when you took the blanket next to him to cover his body, so he wouldn’t catch a cold. <3

drunk! itto who made a bet to drink those three bottles of fine liquor, if he managed to not pass out he’s going to be gifted an amazingly strong onikabuto for his collection. It was no other than kamisato ayato himself who made him do it, —probably well knowing that there wasn’t a way for itto to actually stay awake after gobbling those three bottles up—, yet itto was determined, he‘s the greatest after all! not even you could’ve talked him out of ayato‘s scheming so there he was now: on the floor, two bottles empty while the other one was still tightly closed, he just couldn’t do it anymore. Itto lolled his head back a bit, mumbling about the random onikabuto he wasn’t going to get now while ayato cracked himself up next to you. While shooting the yashiro commissioner a deadly glance to shut him up, you advanced forward to itto to bring your silly boyfriend home before shinobu was about to find out what had happened, which if you were being honest would not only get him in trouble, but yourself as too!

drunk! xiao who said he couldn’t get drunk, he’s a yaksha after all, have some respect. But once actually being one bottle and a half in, he realized his mind was getting hazy, foggy almost. What was that witchcraft😩, is the first thing he thought to himself before you assured him that it was the alcohol messing with his brain. Xiao refrained from drinking anymore then, he also plopped back against the bed to feel the soft sheets underneath him engulf him. When drunk, he turned a bit more opened up, taking your hand in his and holding it close without saying anything really. You could’ve sworn you even saw a little smile painted across his features once you locked gazes. Xiao isn’t saying anything right now, the intimacy was rising up slowly while the both of you drifted away, dozing off in a deep slumber engaged in each others arms. 

drunk! venti who's normal as always, you don't even realize he was a bit drunk when you first met up with him. Yet after destroying yet another bottle of fine dandelion wine, —which no one knew how he afforded it himself—, venti started singing and musing in a louder tone. He'd chant, praise and hum around the tavern with the people listening closely at his enchanting voice. Don't be fooled though, venti isn't doing that for free, he eyed yet another bottle behind the bar and figured that if he were to put on a show, he might get it for free (he didn't get it for free), in the end you had to practically drag him out since you figured diluc was starting to get fed up with venti's voice.

drunk! cyno who only wanted a drink after a long day of work, tasting the sweet n bitter liquor on his tongue and finally being able to calm down. You joined him of course, knowing that it might not stay at one glass, your assumption being turned true once you saw him rest his head on the palm of his hand, cheeks rosy with his lips curved up in a playful smile once eyeing you. He's so loud, screaming out your name so you'd come over to sit next to him (if he wasn‘t so cute you would’ve turned around and dipped) also now buckle up !!! because cyno will literally burst out different kinds of jokes to make you laugh, —since he adored seeing you smile—, just be aware that most of them are going to be painfully bland and unfunny, making only cyno laugh while you were looking at him like 🧍‍♀️. Yet he was adorable that way, loosening up a bit every once in a while was something he needed to stay sane. <3

you and venti arrived at ayaka’s family mansion about a half hour after the agreed time for the party. a few people were already there, like ayaka stated, most of them being your shared friends and the hosts. the faint bass from the speakers could be heard from where you parked.

how you had become friends with a rich person was beyond your comprehension, but ayaka was genuine and nice, so her income didn’t matter to you and the same could be said for her. you were going to get fucked up tonight and forget the drama with kuni once and for all.

”oh my gods diluc is right there,” venti unlinked his seat belt and picked up the brown bag of alcohol he snuck (stole) from diluc. “please y/n, make sure he doesn’t actually fight me.”

”you’re fine, venti.” you laughed, unlocking the car doors and stepping outside. the temperature outside was nice, not too warm and not too cold - the perfect amount of sunlight and breeze for you to enjoy.

walking towards the entrance, you spotted diluc sitting with kaeya and thoma, waving at the three of the while venti stayed by your side, standing a bit behind you — promptly avoiding diluc’s gaze on them.

”venti, don’t try to hide from me. i know you took alcohol from my basement.” diluc sighed, running a hand through their hair; which, for once, was down with a small braid running through the left side. thoma was sitting on her right, braiding another section of his hair.

”fuuuuuck.” venti peeked over your shoulder, although diluc would never actually hurt venti, it was funny to see how scared the other would get. “heyyyy, diluc~”

”venti, he’s not mad at you—“ kaeya started. he was standing off to the side of the couple smoking and still wearing that damned eyepatch. did he even need that thing? you always wondered.

“don’t speak for me.” diluc glared at their brother with no actual malice in his eyes. thoma giggled quietly at the siblings bickering, leaning into diluc’s side.

”ah, guys, no fighting! come on, it's a party~!” thoma whined, looking at diluc with puppy eyes — you were a little jealous; most of your friends were in loving relationships (with each other at that) and that was... something you had once. not anymore though and tonight was to forget about him.

”ew, okay, i’m leaving.” kaeya fake gagged at the display of affection between them and linked arms with venti, “let’s go inside.”

”good idea. i need to set these snacks down.” you lead the three of you inside, spotting a few more friends around the room.

lumine, aether, and xiao were sitting in a circle by the fireplace laughing at whatever conversation they were having. you knew the minute you let go of venti's other arm, she'd leave your side and tackle xiao.

gorou, itto, alhaitham and kaveh were sitting on the couches, talking amongst themselves with drinks in their hands.

ganyu and keqing were in the back garden, you could see through the glass door, holding each other and being all cute and coupley.

but there were still a few people missing; tighnari, cyno, collei, kazuha, heizou, ajax, zhongli and yoimiya. regardless the cozy vibe was still there. and as soon as ajax arrived... the party would definitely get started. 

ayaka and ayato, the hosts of the get together, were in the kitchen arranging the food and drink platters. you ran up to ayaka, jumping onto her back to give her a hug. “i’m here!!” you cheered out, getting a laugh from ayaka.

”y/n!! i’m so glad you and venti made it here okay!” ayaka spun around and returned your hug.

”we did! and here are some more snacks and drinks for everyone.” you handed over the bag of collected snacks and venti handed over the drinks, greeting the hosts quickly before skipping over to jump into xiao’s lap and greet him with kisses.

“it’s nice to see you again, y/n.” ayato greeted with a head bow, hand resting over his chest as he did so. so proper!

”hello ayato! nice to see you too!” to be honest, you were a wee bit frightened of ayato from time to time — he had this air of superiority to him and that probably came from his looks, height and job. but ayaka and diluc insisted he was kind when you actually got to know him.

”enjoy the party.” he smiled at you with his eyes shut and then disappeared into the other rooms.

”so, do tell,” ayaka grabbed your hand and walked to the cupboard to get you a drink of your choice. “how did the roommate situation go?” she asked, knowing she meant well, you decided to talk about it with her — maybe she could even give you some wise words of wisdom.

”ugh,” you pouted a little, holding the glass while ayaka mixed and poured your drink. “it sucks. i bought him a cake because i didn’t even realize it was fucking kuni and then hid in my room all day. i know it seems shitty but… i don’t know!” as soon as she finished pouring your drink, you lifted the glass up to your lips and chugged it in one go.

”and then he apologized by getting me flowers? fucking tulips too…” you knew what flowers represented, tighnari was one of your friends after all. “and the worst part?”

ayaka raised an eyebrow at you to continue, letting you vent to your hearts content. “i feel bad. i even want to forgive him for putting me through that heartbreak...” you admitted, ayaka sighing and pouring you another drink.

”i normally wouldn’t recommend getting wasted this early but… you sound like you need to it.” ayaka picked up her own glass of wine and took a sip before thinking carefully about her next set of words, “it’s been years, has it not? maybe forgiving him and using this living situation as a turning point for a potentially new relationship might be good for you?” she did make a point... although you may hold a slight grudge towards kuni for ruining your senior year, the positive memories of becoming friends and eventually lovers outweighed the urge to hate him anymore.

”yeah, i think you’re right.” you mumbled, swirling your drink in your hand. “thanks, ayaka.”

”no problem!” she grinned, clicking your glasses together as a silent cheer.

the rest of the night went by fast — everything blurred as more people arrived and more drinks and gossip were spilled. ajax had arrived shortly after you did, accompanied by zhongli, yoimiya, kazuha and heizou. all were already a bit faded from hotboxing the car before coming inside and that only set the party in motion as blunts, drinks and bongs were passed around. before you knew it, you felt a buzz underneath your skin from your consumption of marijuana and alcohol. you felt like you were floating, and if it weren't for the pillow resting on your lap, you probably would have been a bit paranoid too.

music blarred loudly on the speakers, groups of people huddled together singing karaoke or talking shit. others were outside in the garden or pool, casually sipping their drinks and acting way too mature for a college party. and the other others were…. you were glad ayaka’s family home was large and had a lot of bedrooms for people to use.

meanwhile, you sat wedged between different people who were drinking, eating and/or smoking. currently, alhaitham and tighnari were sitting on either side of you while ayato was directly across from you on the other couch. you had loosened up a bit, finding ayato to be less scary and actually quite interesting when you were tipsy — especially after he went on a rant about overpriced bubble tea shops in the downtown area of where your college was located.

tighnari was a nice moral support too, keeping an eye on you while you got faded out of your mind. alhaitham was a nice guy to meet too — tighnari knowing him made it a bit more comfortable for you too. you were confused if the blonde he came with was his friend or unfortunate roommate who got dragged along to this party — and then you saw them fiercely making out in the corner and put two and two together. but even so, he was funny and sarcastic which complimented tighnari’s own wits and humor and you couldn’t stop laughing as they bickered back and forth over the stupidest of things.

the conversation around you didn’t register in your mind as you rocked back and forth in place in your drunken state, occasionally chiming in with “yeahs” and laughs. but that didn’t matter, because soon after yoimiya came down from upstairs and stood atop the coffee table in the middle of the living room and clinked a spoon on a glass, gaining everyone’s attention.

”alright guys, listen up!” yoimiya was smiling as ayaka stood on the floor beside her, making sure she didn’t fall off — although if you looked closely, you could make out that she was a bit nervous by the way her leg was bouncing in place.

“i know we’re all having fun right now but since, for once this entire night, everyone is in the same room — i think it’s time to talk about the woman of the hour!” cheers erupted when yoimiya hopped off the table and gestured towards her flustered girlfriend, who shyly held a hand in front of her mouth and bowed, saying thanks to everyone. 

“guys, please—” ayaka started but yoimiya shushed her gently.

”first, words from her brother!” ayato stood up, giving everyone a bow too.

”right. that would be me.” ayato cleared his throat, though he was a tad bit drunk too, he was much more kept together than anyone else in the room. “ayaka, my sweet little sister. where do i even start?”

ayato began quite a long speech about ayaka as a little girl, chasing after her dreams of being a figure skater as well as juggling the weight of being a kamisato heir — it was sweet, and at times you even felt like crying seeing how ayaka’s own eyes glazed over at the praise from her older brother. by the time he had finished his twenty minute speech, tears were spilled by almost everyone in the room and the kamisato siblings exchanged a long hug.

”wow, i don’t even know what to say...” ayaka wiped away a tear and laughed quietly.

ayato looked around before spotting yoimiya renter the room and gave a knowing smile, nudging his head for ayaka to turn around. “well, it’s not quite over yet. so hold your tongue.” she gave him a confused look before turning around and locking eyes with her girlfriend.

the room immediately quieted, everyone seeming to understand what was about to happen which made you (and quite literally everyone else) take out their phones and press record. you fought back tears, blaming being drunk and tired on the whole thing though you knew your emotions were already running high and getting drunk only made you think about kuni more.

”hi...” yoimiya was oddly shy, hands clasped behind her back in a poor attempt to hide something though ayaka was clueless nonetheless.

”hi!” ayaka laughed, tilting her head to the side at the blonde’s strange behavior.

”gosh, okay, you know i’m not good with this kind of stuff.” yoimiya laughed nervously, “so instead of giving a long speech like your brother here,” she looked playfully at ayato, “i’ll just do this-“

she got on one knee and ayaka finally seemed to understand what was happening; gasping and covering her mouth with both hands as tears welled up in her eyes.

”yes!! oh my gods yes!!” she practically tackled her girlfriend fiancé in a hug and knocked her over while pressing their lips together in a long, loving kiss. cheers erupted again as everyone started to congratulate the newly engaged couple, clinking their glasses together and hugging each other.

you, while incredibly happy for your friends, could not help but feel empty at the engagement. only one thought crossed your mind, and that thought was kuni.

Speaking of Angels Share, Diluc's face, is obviously, also as red as tomato when he hears Venti reciting the song later. there was this prompt on reddit i saw asking what the characters would be like on an smp and this was what i came up with :) really silly and fun, i actually really enjoyed thinking about this

yoimiya is the redstone maniac, and she’d probably help klee build really complex tnt contraptions to grief the server

diluc is the mob farmer; builds the entire structure and spends literally all his time farming and enchanting. probably also enslaves the villagers

klee builds a zoo but the only thing inside of it is creeper exhibits

nahida’s the gardener, kaveh probably helps her build automatic farms and all the cool shit

bennett dies all the time—falling into lava after just having found diamonds, a bunch of creepers snuck up on him, etc etc. he can literally never progress in the game because he loses everything and anything he builds gets exploded by creepers (or klee)

xingqiu is just the little shit who steals stuff and does small bits of griefing. im also convinced that he and fischl would be writing a roleplay script for the server and forcing everyone else to comply

nilou is just sweet and happy, she just wants to build a pretty home and get along with everyone :) she’s the one who always helps others out no matter what, whether they need food, weapons, armor, or blocks, she almost always has something to help, and if she doesn’t then she’d be willing to help you get it.

wanderer grinds everything by himself and completely ignores everyone. might even try to beat the dragon by himself too. xingqiu and fischl explain him in the lore as the rude old man who no one ever sees, but occasionally he will grant luxurious gifts to anyone he deems mildly tolerable. the only people who have ever received such gifts are sayu and layla because they do jack shit and are afk most of the time, and he thinks it’s funny.

venti is the first one with elytra. cons yoimiya into giving him all her fireworks. farms music discs

albedo and sucrose are predictably the ones with all the potions. they’ve also scoured the nether; they know it better than anyone else, and they make all the ice bridges for quick nether travel.

layla and sayu are always the ones asking to sleep first—if he is online, there will be a following “fuck you” from diluc, as he is the server’s resident mob farmer and batman kinnie

alhaitham refuses to participate in the “lore” because “fuck you” (fischl cries) (xingqiu demands a duel, for thou hast made his fair lady shed a tear) (alhaitham obliterates him and goes on with his day)

xiangling forces chongyun to share a house with her because the only thing she wants to do is make a farm and kill animals and throw food at everyone and thats literally it. she’s probably really frustrated there aren’t more elaborate meals to make. forces chongyun to build the house and mine and get armor and weapons and literally anything that doesn’t have to do with food (xingqiu visits sometimes to say hi to xiangling and then bully chongyun). she probably also mooches off of nahida and kaveh’s automatic farms

cyno is immediately elected chief of police in the “lore” (the only other people on this “police force” are xiao and heizou)

xiao is completely serious about his job, heizou is not. cyno is a mix of the two. basically all they do is show up occasionally and act really intimidating (or, in heizou’s case, flirt with everyone). yanfei (the judge in the lore) is sick of them for wrongfully incarcerating innocent people over and over again

tighnari and collei have an ACTUAL zoo that isn’t just full of creepers

diona lives with diluc and literally the only thing she does is breed cats, she has so many that it lags the server if you walk into the chunk, so the “police” have sometimes had to stop by and make her spread them out. she’ll comply but then the next day there will be even more cats because she does everything out of spite. also steals everyone’s nametags. she is a convicted felon, charged with multiple accounts of armed robbery, assault, and intentional failure to comply with the wishes of the server, which resulted in harm to one or more players or the entire server (it nearly becomes unplayable because of all the cats so they ban her)

zhongli terraforms the shit out of everything
