I know this version of the little mermaid has sparked so much controversy but you know hater’s gonna hate and everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I for one absolutely love the new Ariel. Título: Este no era el plan.

Resumen: Ariel se convierte en humano para enamorar a Eric pero su atención viaja rápidamente a la hermana menor del príncipe.

Pov Ariel:

Desperté en medio del agua junto a la playa, me sentía raro... ¡Pero finalmente tenía piernas! Lo único que me faltaba era encontrar al príncipe.

— Recuerda Ariel, debes besarlo antes de- -Escuchamos unos ruidos raros y vi que era Eric con ese extraño animal-

Luego de encontrarnos me llevo a su palacio, una mujer muy amable me llevó a arreglarme para ir a comer y me dio un lindo traje rosa.

— Listo cariño, así te ves perfecto. -La abracé por la emoción y comenzamos a caminar al salón, era una lástima no poder usar mi voz pero lo iba a resolver-

— Que bueno que estas aquí, ¿te encuentras bien? -Mire a Eric mientras asentía rápidamente con la cabeza- Eso es bueno, ven te quiero presentar a mi hermana.

Caminamos a la mesa y una chica se levantó de su asiento, si creía que Eric era hermoso su hermana lo era muchísimo más, tenía unos ojos brillantes y una gran sonrisa.

— Hermano, ¿quién es él?

— Y-yo aun no se su nombre, no puede hablar. -Me miró y yo le sonreí muy nervioso ¿que me pasaba?

— Oh, es una pena... Soy ____, hermana de Eric, es un gusto conocerte. -Tome su mano y me incline dándole un beso suave en sus dedos, su mano era muy suave-

— Vaya, eres muy educado, ven vamos a comer. -Por un segundo olvide que Eric estaba ahí, asentí con la cabeza y todos nos sentamos a comer-

¿Qué me pasa? Debo concentrarme en besar a Eric antes de que el tiempo termine...

Vi que habían puesto en la mesa un objeto para cepillarse el cabello, sonreí y comencé a hacerlo pero en cuando lo hice Eric me miró de una manera extraña, ¿hice algo mal...? En eso escuché una risa a mi lado.

— Oye eso no es para cepillarse el cabello, ven te muestro. -____ tomó el cachivache y sostuvo la comida con el- Así se usa, es un tenedor.

Me puse rojo de la vergüenza pero más que eso era gracias a que ____ se acercó a mi para mostrarte cómo se usaba el tenedor, se notaba diferente a su hermano.

En la noche estaba en mi habitación viendo a Eric en el jardín, solo me saludo con la mano y luego se fue corriendo, esto era difícil, ni siquiera sabe mi nombre ¿cómo voy a besarlo?

— ¿Puedo entrar? -Me di la vuelta para ver a ____ asomada en la puerta, tenía un camisón verde claro parecido al que me habían dado a mi, solo que el mío era rosa. Asentí dejando que entre y camino hacia mi- Mira, te traje esto.

Mire que traía en las manos y era un cuaderno junto con una pluma, la mire algo confundido pero rápidamente dejo todo en el escritorio de la habitación y tomó mis manos.

— Me molesta un poco no saber tu nombre, mi hermano ni siquiera pregunto de forma apropiada así que pensé que podrías escribirlo. -Sonreí y tomé el cuaderno para escribir sobre el 'Soy Ariel'- Que hermoso nombre tienes Ariel.

Acarició mi cabeza y luego se me ocurrió algo, si ella me ayudaba podría besar a Eric, así que escribí de nuevo en el cuaderno, 'Quiero pedirte un favor, tu hermano me gusta y quisiera acercarme a el'

— ¿Mmm? Ya veo... Bueno tal vez pueda hacer que te enseñe el pueblo, ¿te gustaría? -Asentí con la cabeza rápidamente- De acuerdo, entonces hablaré con él, nos vemos mañana.

Camino a la puerta y sin saber qué hacía la tomé de la mano justo en la salida, ella me miró y yo volvo a besar su mano como antes.

— Buenas noches Ariel. -Se acercó sonriendo para besar mi mejilla y se fue-

En la mañana fui a la habitación de Eric y lo trate de convencer para que saliera con Ariel pero estaba completamente en negación, salimos de su habitación aun hablando del tema, bueno, yo insistiendo y el negándose.

— Ya lo dije, olvídalo, ¿no viste como me mira? Es lindo y todo pero no me gusta, y sabes que tendré que casarme con una princesa cuando sea rey.

Que mal... supongo que no había mucho que hacer con eso, tenia razón en eso, iba a casarse con una princesa...

Vi a Ariel saliendo de uno de los pasillos se veía triste, definitivamente nos escucho, caminé hacia él y tomé su mano para llevarlo a otro lugar.

— Ariel, lo siento tanto... -Escribió en el cuaderno que le regale un 'No te preocupes, no es tu culpa' pero aun me ponía triste, asi que tome su mano y le sonreí- Ven, yo te llevaré a conocer el pueblo y la pasaremos genial.

Lo prometido es deuda así que llevé a Ariel a los mejores lugares que se me ocurrieron, principalmente donde vendieran varios objetos ya que note que le gustaban, lo llevé a la biblioteca y también la plaza del pueblo. Por último lo llevé al muelle donde subí a un gran barco muy lindo y bien cuidado.

— ¿Te gusta? -Mire a Ariel y el asintió escribiendo en su cuaderno: 'Es hermoso, ¿de quien es?- Es mío, siempre quise conocer el mundo y mi madre me lo regalo para que lo hiciera... En ese castillo me sentía simplemente...

Pov Ariel:

Atrapada, sabía exactamente como se sentía, vi como se apoyo en el borde del barco y yo la seguí, durante todo el día Sebastian había intentado que volviera al palacio para intentar hablar con Eric pero estaba tan emocionado con todo lo nuevo que ____ me mostraba que lo ignoré totalmente.

Ella sabía lo que se sentía querer explorar el mundo como yo... Era diferente a las demás sirenas y por lo que vi también a las chicas humanas.

— Piensas que soy rara ¿verdad? Muchos no dejarían su hogar ni muertos... -Tome sus manos negando y le sonreí-

Ella acarició mis manos y de a poco me acerqué a ____, no sabía que estaba haciendo pero ella hacía lo mismo, antes de que nuestros labios se tocaran escuchamos un grito haciendo que nos separamos completamente rojos.

— ¡Princesa! -Era el hombre con el que habiamos almorzado ayer- ¿Dónde estuvo todo el día? La busque por todo el reino.

— Lo siento, solo quería pasear con Ariel hoy, ven, será mejor volver. -Hablo sin mirarme a los ojos, yo tampoco podía mirarla directamente así que simplemente los seguí y volvimos al palacio, no nos dimos cuenta de lo tarde que era y nos moríamos de hambre así que fuimos a almorzar.

Me fui a mi habitación el resto de la tarde, estaba muy avergonzado, pero no podía dejar de pensar en el momento que casi nos besamos con ____ mientras Sebastian me regañaba por "perder el tiempo" con ella y no acercarme a Eric.

Me llamaron para cenar unas horas después y al llegar vi a Eric con una mujer a su lado.

— Bueno hermano, ¿nos dirás que esta pasando? -____ miraba a Eric y cuando me senté con ella me sonrió levemente-

— Ella es Vanesa, será mi esposa y nos cansaremos. -No... si el se casa con esa mujer-

— Me alegro por ti hermano pero... ¿No es muy apresurado?

— Para nada, ella es la indicada. -Me levanté y simplemente salí de ahí, ____ me siguió pero yo me encerré en mi habitación, ignore las preguntas de Sebastian mientras lloraba y me negué a abrir la puerta-

Al día siguiente me habían despertado para desayunar, me vestí pero no iba a ir hasta que...

— ¿Ariel? -Vi a ____ entrando por la puerta con un vestido muy lindo, se acercó y tomó mis manos- Oye, vamos a dar un paseo ¿si? Solo los dos.

No espero mi respuesta y me llevo fuera del castillo, intento animarme con lo que fuera y estaba resultando, pasamos casi todo el día fuera y en la tarde fuimos a su barco.

— No pienso ir a esa boda, es mi hermano y lo quiero pero esto es muy repentino... -Me acerque a ella y apoye mi cabeza en su hombro mirando el atardecer, el sol casi se pone y yo estoy aquí... con ____...-

¿Cómo no me di cuenta antes? Ella era la indicada... era amable, cariñosa y en este tiempo juntos me acerque más a ella que Eric.

— ¿Ariel? -La miré a sus hermosos ojos y me acerque lentamente a ella, puse mi mano en su nuca y finalmente pasó, conecte sus labios con los míos y la bese mientras el sol se escondía-

— Eso es adorable, pero te equivocaste de humano... -Nos separamos y vimos en la cubierta del barco a Ursula en su forma de pulpo-

— ¿Q-quien eres? -____ me puso detrás de ella-

— Yo soy la que convirtió a tu querido amigo en humano pero es una pena, el tiempo se le termino.

— ¿De que habla Ariel? -La miré muy nervioso y tomé sus manos-

— ¿No te lo dijo? El no pertenece aquí, es un tritón, debía besar a tu querido hermano pero eso ya no se puede querida, el sol se puso y no lo beso.

____ me miro unos segundos hasta que Ursula me transformó nuevamente en tritón, ____ se quedó en su lugar por el miedo y me miró en el suelo.

— Ariel... -La mire y cuando la bruja se acerco a nosotros un rayo dorado la hizo caer-

— Aléjate de mi hijo... -Esa voz...-

Mire a mi padre quien se levantaba con el agua hacia donde estabamos nosotros sobre el barco, con su tridente hizo que Ursula quedara atrapada en una gran burbuja.

____ se acercó corriendo a mi, esta vez arrodillandose a mi lado y tomando mis manos entre las suyas.

— ¿Estas bien? -Sonreí algo triste por tener mi cola de nuevo, pero señale el collar que tenía la bruja en su cuello, no podíamos oírla pero mi padre hizo que el collar llegara a nosotros, lo tome y lo rompí contra el suelo haciendo que por fin mi voz regresara- ¿Ari-?

— ¡____! -La abracé y ambos caímos sobre el suelo, comenzamos a reír y luego me sorprendió cuando me abrazó por el cuello y junto nuestros labios- Vaya...

— ¿Hijo? -Mire a mi padre que tenia a Sebastian en el hombro- Sebastian me contó todo, sospecho de la novia de ese humano y vino directo a mi.

— Padre yo- -Levanto la mano haciendo que guarde silencio-

— No hace falta que digas nada hijo, lo lamento... Al menos se que estuviste en buenas manos en este tiempo. -Sonrió y miro a ____ quien se cubrió las mejillas, estaba tan roja como mi cabello-

— Padre, quiero quedarme aquí, ver el mundo junto con ____, yo... la amo.

— Y yo te amo a ti. -____ me abrazó y yo la bese nuevamente-

Luego de eso todo fue muy lindo, mi padre me dio piernas nuevamente y me dejó viajar por el mundo con ____, Ursula fue encerrada para siempre y yo estaba con el amor de mi vida.

Here is Ariel as a Wolfwalker. If Sabastian freaked out when she had two legs, I would love to see his reaction to her having four. The fur around her mane and tail is a reference to her iconic red hair and the rest of her coat color in based off of her green mermaid tail. I wanted to still have some visual reference to her being a mermaid so I tried to make the end of her tail look like fins. The shell around her neck is a nod to her purple mermaid shells.

I feel like the problem with a lot of Disney's live action remakes (and arguably Wish) is they're trying to appeal to a crowd that no longer exists, namely the people who used to claim that the Disney Princesses were sexist.

All the interviews tend to include, "Well she's not chasing a MAN anymore" which...almost no one sees the princesses like that, anymore. Virtually NO ONE still believes the princesses are man-chasing sexist caricatures of women.

Cinderella is now hailed as an abuse victim who stayed strong long enough to get help to get out of her situation. Anyone who says she should have saved herself is basically regarded as a victim blamer. And it's very clear in the film she wasn't looking to marry the prince, she just wanted a night off. She was the only one who wasn't in line to meet him. She didn't find out she met the prince until he went looking for her!

Snow White is now hailed for her negotiation skills, ability to calm down after extreme stress (she had a moment of panic and had to cry for a bit, but who wouldn't after finding out The Queen hired someone to kill you?), and ability to take charge of a house of adult men. And again, she was an abuse victim, this time trying to escape ASSASSINATION ATTEMPTS. While she dreamed of her prince, it was secondary to her main goal of SURVIVAL. There are also entire video essays about how Snow White gave hope to people during The Great Depression.

Everyone acknowledges that Ariel wanted to be human BEFORE meeting Eric. We all know she was a nerd hyperfixating on humans, and also standing up to her prejudiced father.

We understand Sleeping Beauty wasn't the main character, the Three Good Fairies were, AND PHILLIP WOULD NEVER HAVE BEATEN MALEFICENT WITHOUT THEM! He literally depended on them! WOMEN SAVED THE DAY! But even then, is it really such a sin for a girl to fantasize about romance and fall for someone with corny pickup lines?

We all understand Jasmine just wanted someone to treat her LIKE A PERSON. She rejected every Prince before Aladdin because they treated her like a prize. So why did they need her to want to be Sultan? How did that make her more feminist when she already wanted to be treated like an equal and have a say in her future? Is it only empowering if you want a career in politics?

We admire that Belle, despite living in a judgemental village, was kind to everyone (even though she found the village life dull), and her story teaches girls that the guy everyone else loves isn't always a good guy. What's sexist about teaching girls about red flags? And she didn't start being nice to The Beast until he started treating her with respect and kindness.

Do I really NEED to defend Mulan or Tiana? I think they speak for themselves.

Rapunzel was yet another abuse victim who just needed a little help to get out of her bad situation. In this case, she also needed to learn that she was an abuse victim, and that what Mother Gothel did WASN'T normal, much like many victims of gaslighting.

And don't get me started on the non-princess animals.

Perdita had a healthy relationship with Pongo to the point she was open to express her pregnancy fears to him, and was ready to TEAR APART Cruella's goons for daring to touch her puppies as well as adopting the other puppies. Like, she was so ferocious the goons mistook her for a hyena! She's basically that "I AM THAT GIRL'S MOTHER!" scene from SpyXFamily if Yor were a dog. She and her husband were a TEAM.....but they made a Cruella live action to turn her into a girlboss?! The literal animal abuser!? THAT'S the woman you wanted to put on a pedestal when Perdita was RIGHT THERE!?

Duchess kept her kittens calm after they had been catnapped and was classy as heck. Nice to everyone regardless of social class during a time period where that was uncommon.

Lady stood up to Tramp when she believed he had abandoned her and didn't really care about her. She found out he was a heartbreaker and was like, "Nuh uh. No. You are not doing that to me! You put me through enough."

Miss Bianca from The Rescuers was IN CHARGE the whole movie, and was willing to risk life and limb to save an innocent child. THAT TINY MOUSE TOOK ON ALLIGATORS! And she picked Bernard to accompany her because he was the only one who wasn't ogling her. And then in the sequel SHE DID IT ALL AGAIN! I wish I were as brave as her.

Like, the public haven't accused these ladies of being sexist caricatures since 2014 (Actresses and actors don't count, they're out of touch like the rest of Hollywood) yet Disney is operating under the assumption that the public still thinks that way, hence all the "sHe'S nOt AfTeR a MaN iN ThIs VeRsIOn" talk.

The live action remakes are trying to attract an audience that doesn't really exist much, anymore, and back when it did exist, was comprised mainly of people who didn't actually watch the films. The Disney princesses are no longer seen as sexist, and feminine qualities are no longer seen as weak or undesirable.

So this project was originally done years ago back when I was still learning how to draw digital art. Now that I’ve improved greatly I’ve gone back and decided to redraw everything including poses I originally had. This type of project has been done before but this is my art I’m doing. I did all the princesses up to Moana. I’ll be picking this project up and down while I work on other projects. I wanted to draw every princess in their new designs they had gotten. It will take me a while to redraw everything but this is a start.😊❤️
