Today is the 6th anniversary of Bucky being rescued from certain euthanasia. A friend I'd met through a local pit bull walking group fostered him until she needed to move out of state at which point (later on in November) there were calls for an emergency foster. I contacted the rescue group and that part is history.

Today is also my angel dog, Gibbs' birthday. Today would be his 11th. He left us a year before Bucky was rescued. With the date coincidence, I believe Bucky was sent by Gibbys to comfort his momma.

When I feel sad about missing Gibbs on his birthday, I can find comfort in the gift of a friend and a bigger than life doggo.

Meet Chunk.

A month ago, I found a post on Facebook about a pug mix who was at our local shelter. They posted a photo, and said that he wasn't doing well at the shelter. He was shaking, scared, was barely eating.

So, we decided to go throw caution to the wind and visit with him and just check him out to see what he's like. He was cowered in the corner, shaking, and growling. There was a sign on the gate saying "Do not stick your fingers inside. He WILL bite." Granted, we did heed the warning.

So we went home, thought about it for a while and decided, ya know what? We should try to adopt him. Maybe he will come around and see that we are there to take care of him and not harm him.

Well, long story short, here's Chunk, now a playful, happy pup. He's a wonderful addition to our family and he's such a sweet dog. He's not overly friendly to other people just yet, for obvious reasons, but we've had him for a couple of weeks and he's brought so much love to our lives.

Never doubt the love of a shelter pet. They have their issues, but they make the greatest pets! We love him dearly!!

Seriously, the novel is almost always better than the movie, because the movie you make up in your mind is always gonna be better than whatever any director is able to conjure.

Not to say "Silver Bullet" is without its merits, mind you. The werewolf effects are fantastic, and Gary Busey is a lot of fun, but overall it feels more generic than anything else.

Watch "An American Werewolf in London", it's way better.
