Daily Vent #6: Dwindling hope…
Hey everyone, welcome back.
I’m just going to get straight to the point and say what happened when I went to talk to my classmates.
Everyone that I was able to ask so far had more or less the same reactions that the second years had.
I’m just…lost for words. I have no idea what I can even say.
How can they of all people not seem to realise how insulting that talentless people can even attend the same school as them?
Is there something that they see in the Reserve Course students that I don’t?
Even though I’m barely more than trash compared to actual Ultimates, at least I am keenly aware of this fact and am doing the very best I can for them in spite of that fact.
Believe me, I want to believe in my classmates. Heck, I even want to believe in my homeroom teacher and the second years.
But at this current moment…I can’t help but feel my faith in them, my faith in the hope that they generate, dwindling away by the minute.
Fortunately however, this is still hope after all!
You see, even though I asked as many classmates as I could, I still missed a few of them.
The Ultimate Yakuza, the Ultimate Traditional Dancer, the Ultimate Photographer, the Ultimate Swordswoman, and the Ultimate Gamer.
Just before I began to make this post, I managed to ask the Ultimate Musician about her thoughts on the Reserve Course students.
As expected, she obviously had only positive things to say about them, even claiming that she was on good terms with one of them in particular.
Luckily for me though, when I asked her where the remaining classmates I needed to ask were, she told me that they were actually meeting up with some of their friends after class.
So I’m obviously going to go talk to them when the time comes.
And I’ll be sure to tell you all what happens as soon as I get the chance.
As you’d expect, I’m not feeling…too optimistic given the current track record, but…
Even if there’s a tiny slither of hope to cling on to, I’ll take it. After all, hope always wins in the end.
Anyways, I think I should probably get going for now aha.
I’ll update you all again soon! Bye for now!

Walking Dead Season 11 Episode 22 Review: Faith Is Dwindling
Walking Dead Season 11 Episode 22 Review: Faith Is Dwindling
“The world is dark and broken, but we’re not. Not yet.” The opening lines of the third to last episode in the concluding season of The Walking Dead are part of the show’s last-ditch attempt to instill the events of the series with something more expansive and meaningful. These recurrent introductions are being spoken by one of the show’s youngest characters, Judith Grimes (Cailey Fleming), who…

The clones really are a fascinating contrast to stormtroopers. And I don’t mean Finn and the First Order because they follow in the wake of The Clone Wars; I mean Imperial stormtroopers who dominated the Star Wars imagination first and the longest.
For decades, stormtroopers basically functioned like clones: they looked and sounded the same, even though we knew there were different people underneath the helmets they never took off; different faces, same personality.
Then actual clones basically inverted the model: genetically identical men used every opportunity to differentiate themselves, from their armor to their body modifications to their behavior; same face, different personalities.
The one place where the Venn diagram intersected was loyalty, but even then, they still inverted each other’s models. Clones designed to be unwaveringly loyal and obedient consistently questioned orders and their place in the galaxy. Meanwhile, stormtroopers from disparate planets and cultures unfailingly followed the orders of an impersonal Empire.
For all of Star Wars’s faults, for all the ways in which they dumb down or gloss over traditional scifi modes and themes, I can’t think of a more thorough exploration of cloning, the attendant questions of identity and free will, and the sociopolitical and metaphysical implications of a race of genetically identical men, of sameness in difference and difference in sameness, than the clone troopers.

[Image Description: A warm-toned comic featuring Trigun98 characters. It opens with Vash shouting "YOWCH!!" as a half-eaten donut flies through the air, a bruise on Vash's tongue. Meryl, editing papers, is annoyed as he complains: "Ow! Ow! I bi'e my 'ongue..." "What's the rush?" Meryl asks, "They're all yours." Vash, still hurt, tries to explain: "They're jus' sooo good!" Meryl argues back, "Well, savour it then!" Wolfwood has been watching the scene unfold as Meryl continues, "Satisfying your sweet tooth doesn't come cheap, unfortunately." Wolfwood clicks his lighter open and closed, again and again. Without a word, he leans closer, his thumb on Vash's lips. "Wolfwood...?" Vash trails off. Then, Wolfwood opens Vash's mouth and knicks his thumb on one of Vash's canines in one fell swoop. "Wah? Huh??" Vash says as Wolfwood pulls his bleeding thumb away. He licks the blood off the wound then snickers at Vash. Meryl looks disgusted, Vash has lit up in an embarrassed explosion, and Milly remarks, curious: "Those are surprisingly sharp, Mr. Vash!" Question marks float around Vash, and his donuts lay discarded on the table. Each panel is signed by raepliica. End ID]

Dusty Demise for NASA Mars Lander in July; Power Dwindling | Science News
By MARCIA DUNN, AP Aerospace Writer
CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) — A NASA spacecraft on Mars is headed for a dusty demise.
The Insight lander is losing power because of all the dust on its solar panels. NASA said Tuesday it will keep using the spacecraft’s seismometer to register marsquakes until the power peters out, likely in July. Then flight controllers will monitor InSight until the end of…
