Hello, yes, I’ve been thinking about the Diasomnia ice-cream parlor AU again 🍨🍦 I guess I must have been really hungry lately www
I see them as offering not just ice-cream, bur also variants like gelato, shaved ice, milkshakes, etc. (They can afford it with support from the Draconia royal family’s funds 😂) The focus here will be ice-cream though, just because that’s Malleus’s favorite.
Imagine walking in and not knowing what to order (there’s so much to choose from!), so you ask the staff to pick something for you… (Yes, I’ve thought about this way too much and now I’m going to shovel this at you—)

Malleus strikes me as a very traditional and old-fashioned guy, so I’d see him falling back on ol’ reliable. You can’t go wrong with a classic sugar cone and a healthy scoop on top!
He recommends mint chocolate chip because it adds an additional pleasant cooling sensation to the actual coldness of ice-cream. Malleus is fond of the flavor himself; it’s great for cooling down a mouth that’s hot from breathing flames!

You’re brave if you accept anything Lilia hands you… You ask him what this is (the ice-cream looks… discolored in some places, and there’s all this weird stuff jutting out from it; is that a piece of lettuce???). He just winks at you and calls it “Lilia-chan’s Super Cute ⭐️ Special”, featuring a bunch of “unique” flavors he created himself.
It comes served in a cup because it’s easier to eat it while walking that way. For Lilia, who is a well-seasoned traveler, foods that are able to be eaten on the go are a plus!

Silver picks out a waffle bowl (it resembles a sturdy bird’s nest) and encourages you to try a lot of different things. It’ll help you to gain an appreciation for the new and unfamiliar! With how wide the waffle bowl is and how many flavors and toppings are in there, this can be good for sharing with friends from all over.
The particular version featured in the doodle has three kinds of ice-cream, each one representing one of the three Good Fairies. A pink flavor, a blue flavor, and a green flavor—maybe rose or strawberry, blueberry or cotton candy, and pistachio? It’s a very naturey palate.
His animal friends have helped with the ingredients; there’s honey drizzled on top, as well as crushed nuts. Freshly picked berries and edible flowers garnish the bowl too—oh, and we can’t forget a generous chunk of honeycomb!
… I don’t know much about Kingdom Hearts, but I’ve heard that Silver resembles Riku from KH?? So maybe Silver can offer some sea salt ice-cream too as a throwback 😂

… Was anyone surprised by this? No? No.
Sebek chose a tall parfait glass for serving so that the dessert can be as tall as possible. It’s a matcha and ube soft serve, swirled high. The green is Diasomnia’s color, and the purple is meant to be the color of the underside of Malleus’s cape. (Sebek wanted to include black ice-cream to for the Draconia royal color, but couldn’t find a good flavor.)
Art isn’t his forte, but Sebek did his best to “recreate the imposing, elegant image of wakasama” in his dessert. The cherry on top, flanked by two conical chocolate pieces, are meant to be Malleus and his horns. The wafer poking out is supposed to “enhance the young master’s presence”. All the other things are extra details in an effort to make the ice-cream larger than life: candied fruit peels arranged in a line (to resemble the spines on a dragon’s tail), mochi balls (“magestones”) piled to one side, and a chocolate biscuit stick + wafer that, together, look like Malleus’s staff.
Sebek tried really hard! … He will aggressively try to sell you on this item.

If you’re really hungry or with a large group, why not go for the Diasomnia Family Fundae? It’s their take on a sundae, served in a glass boat. There’s a whole banana, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and three maraschino cherries! The bramble is made of dark chocolate.
Each student is represented by one scoop and a little candy or chocolate that helps to characterize the boy (horns, bat wings, lightning bolt, or sword). Sebek is a lemon-like sherbet, befitting of his loud, in-your-face personality. Lilia is a bright red berry flavor (strawberries, cherries, cranberries, etc.), like his favorite red juices, deep and complex. Silver is vanilla bean, pure, simple, and earnest. (He could also be a subtle lavender flavor, since that's a flower known to ease you into sleep.) And Malleus… well, that scoop is a pitch black, but the flavor is something you can’t quite place your tongue on. It’s a mystery, just like he is! (Maybe the shop changes the flavor every now and again. They can run a promo where if you guess the right flavor combo for that particular week’s Malleus scoop, they give you a discount or a free cone.)
A lot of chocolate sauce is dripping down from the Malleus scoop; this is because the sauce is supposed to be his “blot”. The bottom three scoops—Lilia, Sebek, and Silver—are blanketed by the chocolate thorns as a reference to how those three were sentenced to sleep.

So I've been spending the last few monthes reading, watching, walking, and just overall researching foraging safely and the types of plants in my area. Today was the first day with my spouse and son that I was able to identify some plants confidently... so of course with my direction we began foraging.

It saddens me that one of the main motivators for foraging today is knowing that my neighbors and my mother in law would be getting their lawns mowed soon and most of what I gathered today would've been lost. People just don't know what they have.
We pay to remove plants, herbs and even fruits growing naturally in our lawns, only to go buy the same plants from our grocery stores.
Plants found:
Dandelion: the whole plant is edible if you can spot it from its copycat. The leaves can be used the same way as most greens, it's roots when dried can be used to brew Dandelion coffee, and the flowers can be used for tea and to make honey
Chives and Onions: a common herb and garnish its stalks grow back once cut. If left to grow long enough they absorb nutrients better and can produce bigger onions but for now these chives were found before being mowed over and the onions are quite small but very strong and flavorful
Dead nettle: this one was new to me learning about it near the end of winter and seeing the small purple flowers growing. The flowers and leaves droop downward almost making a closed umbrella shape. It can be eaten raw or cooked and is used in salads and smoothies for garnish and flavor. They are high in nutrients and vitamins. Left to grow in the sun the purple turns almost pinkish and the leaves get lighter but still useful
Pine (cones, needles and seeds): I didn't forage the cones or needles today cause I knew I'd be busy, but baby pinecones can be cooked and eaten and the needles when cleaned and placed into an airtight container with water and sugar make a soda. I managed to find a few seeds in some of the fallen cones and saved them to plants in our future home
That's what we foraged. We are waiting for some more plants to develop and managed to convince my mother in law to leave certain sections of the lawn left uncut as some plants are still just starting back. Plants were waiting on are plantains, honeysuckle, and violets. Some plants are still too early to identify.
Using the dandelion greens tonight and making a pesto with some of them combined with the dead nettle and onions to use for a future pasta.

Matcha Cheesecake Recipe
Ingredients:
Crust:
1 1/2 cups cookie crumbs (such as graham crackers or chocolate cookies)
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
2 tablespoons sugar
Filling:
2 cups cream cheese, room temperature
2/3 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1/4 cup sour cream
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons matcha green tea powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Toppings:
Whipped cream
Matcha powder for dusting
Edible flowers (like daisies)
Small fresh leaves for garnish
Instructions:
Prepare the Crust:
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Mix cookie crumbs with melted butter and sugar in a bowl until well combined.
Press the mixture into the bottom of a 9-inch springform pan and bake for 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and let it cool.
Make the Filling:
Reduce the oven temperature to 325°F (165°C).
In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add sugar and beat until combined.
Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then mix in sour cream, flour, matcha powder, and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and even in color.
Bake the Cheesecake:
Pour the filling over the cooled crust and smooth the top with a spatula.
Bake for about 45 minutes, or until the edges are set but the center is slightly wobbly.
Turn off the oven, open the door slightly, and let the cheesecake cool inside for 1 hour to prevent cracks.
Chill:
After the cheesecake has cooled, refrigerate it for at least 4 hours, or overnight.
Decorate:
Before serving, remove the cheesecake from the pan and transfer it to a serving plate.
Pipe whipped cream on top, dust with matcha powder, and garnish with edible flowers and fresh leaves.

I wonder if there are times where Desmond could come off as terrifying without meaning too? Like he's just doing something he thinks is mundane, but whoevers near by is like no Desmond normally people don't climb buildings that high. Or no we all aren't professional knife throwers when we are boredly throwing knives

Interesting looking seeds of the week: Common Mallow - Malva neglecta.
Malva neglecta can be found in several continents, it's commonly known as common mallow or cheese weed. Its leaves and flowers can be eaten raw or cooked. When cooked, they can be used similarly to spinach, added to soups, stews, or sautéed as a side dish. The flowers of Malva neglecta can also be added to salads for a colorful touch or used as an edible garnish.
In addition to its culinary uses, Malva neglecta has been used in traditional medicine for its soothing and anti-inflammatory properties, particularly for skin and digestive system ailments.
The seed pods of Malva neglecta, sometimes referred to as "cheeses," due to their shape resembling a small wheel of cheese, can be eaten raw or cooked. They have a mild, pleasant flavor and can be added to salads or used as a snack. In some regions, they are pickled or used as a caper substitute. But, I decided to go a little further and break the seed pods once dried to investigate possible culinary uses for the seeds.
They're super interesting looking, like little barrels with ridges, I didn't collect that many last year but I've enough to start a couple of experiments. Of course, I'm in the progress of sprouting some but I have the feeling that one of the best use will be to grind the dried seeds and make an interesting flour.

all fruit & berries — raspberries, blueberries, blackberries….. freshly picked, ideally, in a little wicker basket…. pair with live yogurt or kefir and nuts and seeds to eat like a fairy or bird-like creature……
organic vegetables of all colours — kale, squash, mushrooms, carrots, edamame, potato, beetroot, chard, (baby) cucumber, sweetcorn, peppers — for beautiful salads with chickpea hummus and oils and tofu and olives and feta cheese….
seasonal treats for winter : bûche de noël and marzipan fruit and crystallised petals and hot milk with honey like a child before bedtime and pink heart biscuits for valentine’s day….
for autumn : toffee apples and mulled wine and syrupy coffee and oat porridge with banana in the morning and hearty seasonal soup with hot soft bread to break and share… .
for spring : hot cross buns with (homemade) cherry jam and simmel cake and chocolate rabbits with gold foil and eggs to paint….
for summer : lychees and watermelon and white peaches and figs off trees and ice cream by the seaside and freshly caught fish stewed with cherry tomato and herbs and onion and lentils…
little garnishes — edible flowers, parsley, pomegranate seeds, pistachio, rosemary and thyme, lavender lemongrass….
and above all, whatever brings joy alongside sustenance — dates stuffed with almond butter, italian fettuccine in antique bowls, birthday cake and non-birthday cake, oysters, melon cut out to look like stars, sushi and sashimi, jellies in fanciful moulds, crepes from french markets and stroopwafles from dutch markets…. etc.

I have a damn good hunch that man is autistic, so texture/sensory issues, lack of hunger cues, and just Not Wanting To Eat because he's doing something he thinks is too important is a prevalent issue
Of course, you couldn't just NOT do something about it. You loved to cook! You love most of all to cook FOR people
So you ask him about food during your long talks together. Cedric mentions a few basic things he likes, like turkey, stew, potatoes etc but he keeps it irritatingly vague
You try to ask Sofia and even the royal cooks about cedrics favorite meals
All you gleaned from Sofia was his love of sweets and the royal cooks were clueless
Great.
Back to square one!
So with your limited knowledge, you decide to start off by surprising him with breakfast. Using Sofias information, you make him really fluffy pancakes with a dusting of powdered sugar! (Think Japanese style)
To keep things suited to his liking, you put all extras on the side; maple syrup, cut up strawberries (you made them heart shaped) blueberries, melted chocolate, and whipped cream. With some orange juice to wash it all down!
Can't forget some edible flower garnish!
You walked to his door, knocking with your foot (your hands were too full lol)
Cedric thought it was someone else, and he was cranky at first about being disturbed so early in the morning. He opens his door with a scowl, brows knitted in the way you know meant annoyance
But when his eyes rest on you, carrying a huge platter of fresh food and drink, he had to do a double take
Just. Cedric with wide eyes, his jaw about to hit the floor, tripping over his words like. "Wh- what's all th-this for, then...?"
You just give him a big cheeky grin and reply, "For my favorite person <3"
Cedric ushered you into his tower, asking you what the occasion was for, and you could tell he was anxious and worried- so you give him a kiss on the cheek, and tell Cedric that you just wanted to do something nice, and make sure he was fed! You know how busy he can get, so you wanted the sorcerer to start his day with the most important meal of the day
Cedric doesn't know whether to thank you, kiss you, or cry
He kinda does all three 😭
After thanking you profusely, he insisted you share the food with him. He said that you made enough for TWO small armies and he won't be able to eat everything
You try to insist that it was made for *him*, but in the middle of your argument your stomach started growling
Cedric gives you a shit eating grin that screams "I win" and you just sit down with a huff and a (fake) pout
You both enjoy breakfast together, and Cedric literally doesn't shut up about how good everything is
He noticed the heart strawberries and you swear it was the softest smile you've ever seen
He finished his plate and it made your entire day
From that day on, you asked Cedric if you can make him a meal once or twice a week- just to get him accustomed to it
You grow to learn more about food he enjoys, from breakfast to lunch to dinner
Cedric really enjoys sweets for breakfast
A light lunch, because the last time you made something heavy the man slipped into a food coma for three hours
And dinner is your favorite time to cook for him, because you can show off your cooking skills and eat it with Cedric together and make it SUPER romantic
Most of all though, you just love making sure Cedric is fed and taking care of himself. The man is a workaholic to a fault, and you both know it! Which is why he always says thank you and make sure you know how much this means to him
Speaking of, Cedric would try to return the favor in little ways- giving you magic flowers that never wilt, a magic show after a meal, small little animal wind up toys he cobbles together in his spare time (can u guess what his love language is? Lol)
Since he is a picky eater, it's been trial and error to figure out what he likes and doesn't- lots of veggies are a no no, and you respect it and don't push the issue. But the veggies he does like, you use as much as you can! After a while, I could see Cedric trying to branch out a little bit and getting slightly more comfortable with food he previously disliked because you make it taste good (you want to believe he can taste the love)
You try to stick within his comfort zone for food, but sometimes you'll bring something for him to try to gauge where you can cook him new food
Regardless, Cedric adores the effort and care you put into making him food! He offers to even cook for you sometimes! (He conjures it lmao)
Which leads to him talking about food magic! It's quite interesting stuff
But no matter what, Cedric always feels smitten every time he has the pleasure of eating whatever you make for him
Seeing an empty plate from Cedric will always be the highest compliment to you :)

Honey Cake <3
Happy Noumenia! Today is the 1st of Skirophorion according to the hellenic lunar calendar. This is the honey cake I made and offered to Apollon, Hestia, Zeus, Hermes and to the gods in general.
Ingredients
210 g all-purpose flour 1-1/2 cups
67 g granulated sugar 1/3 cup
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1 tablespoon grated lemon zest from 2 whole lemons
67 g Carapelli Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil 1/3 cup
130 g unsweetened non-dairy milk 1/2 cup, such as soy or almond milk
113 g honey 1/3 cup
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Honey-Lemon Syrup
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons honey (maple syrup for vegan)
Lemon Glaze
130 g powdered sugar 1 cup
1-1/2 tablespoons lemon juice and up to 2 tablespoons
Optional Garnish:
3 whole fresh figs optional
1/3 cup raspberries optional
1/4 cup edible flowers optional
Instructions
》 Preheat oven to 350˚F. Grease a standard 8x4" loaf pan. Cut a piece of parchment paper to fit the bottom and long sides of the loaf pan with a little overhang.
》 Whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt and lemon zest in a medium-size mixing bowl.
》 In a separate bowl whisk together olive oil, milk, honey, vinegar, and vanilla.
》 Add wet mixture to dry and stir with a spatula until incorporated about 1 minute.
》 Spread cake batter into prepared pan and bake on center rack for about 45 minutes or until it is dark golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
》 To make Honey-Lemon Syrup simply whisk together the lemon juice and honey until dissolved.
》 When cake is done remove from oven cool cake in pan on cool rack for 10 minutes. Brush the top of the cake with honey-lemon syrup while it is still warm. Lift cake out of the loaf pan using the parchment paper overhang and cool to room temperature.
》 To make the lemon glaze, whisk lemon juice and powdered sugar until smooth. Start with 1-1/2 tablespoons of lemon juice and add more if the glaze seems too thick. Pour glaze over cooled cake.
》 Optionally decorate the top of the cake with fresh figs, raspberries and edible flowers.

note from me: this isn't my recipe or picture! mine isn't nearly as stunning! Here's a link to the website this is from <3 make sure the cake is room temperature, slightly warm when you put the glaze on. Then pop it in the refrigerator and it will harden well! It was delicious, and in place of apple cider vinegar I used more lemon juice. I'm vegan, so I was happy to find that I could make this cake vegan! I used self-rising flour in place of all-purpose, baking soda and baking powder.

He wanted to show his support for her and make the occasion truly special. Knowing that Trinity had a deep connection to the river, Ulysses incorporated elements of water and nature into the feast.
Here's a sampling of what he prepared:
Riverbank Salad: A refreshing mix of crisp greens, adorned with edible flowers and drizzled with a tangy citrus dressing. The salad was garnished with delicate watercress, representing Trinity's affinity for riverside foliage.
Poseidon's Catch: A platter of freshly caught seafood, including succulent grilled fish, buttery lobster tails, and plump shrimp. Ulysses took care to infuse the seafood with a hint of herbs and citrus, giving it a delightful flavor.
Enchanted Spring Soup: A velvety soup made with seasonal vegetables, infused with the essence of a mystical spring. Ulysses added herbs and spices known for their healing properties, creating a nourishing and comforting dish.

Nymph's Delight: For dessert, Ulysses crafted a masterpiece of sweetness. It consisted of delicate pastry shells filled with a light, fluffy cream infused with hints of vanilla and the subtle essence of wild berries. The dessert was adorned with edible flowers and drizzled with a delicate honey syrup.
Trinity knew that Ulysses had a hard time with the fact that she had to help everyone who came to the sanctuary- at least she knew that he was worried. Which was fair considering she worried about him when he was out in the world too. It was hard on them both though perhaps she didn't understand his worry about the people as much. She didn't see heroes and villains or heroes and monsters in the same way because here those labels meant nothing to her.
But He- well he knew what happened outside of the invisible walls of this place. And she knew that made it more difficult for him even if she didn't fully understand why he was so worried about specific heros sometimes.
That's why she was so surprised to come in and see the spread across the table. Not just for her but for everyone. A sort of peace offering but so much more thought out. Her eyes widened as she moved around the table, taking in the well-thought-out beautiful dishes that he had clearly put a lot of mental and emotional energy into. Her Long fingers dragged across the table with a little smile as she took in everything from the lovely salad all the way to the mouth-watering desert.
This was the big bad warlock they all feared. The boogy man of the sea. She saw the way they flinched sometimes when he stood behind her but here he was, making them all a feast worthy of a king. Her eyes finally lifted to meet his with a smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "My love....you didn't have to do this Darling. You have nothing to prove." She dipped her pinky finger into the honey syrup leaking from the side of the pasty, eyes closing in delight as she sucked it off.

To My Touchstarved MCs
How smart is your MC? Did they have an education? Self taught? A mentor? What things do they know?
Would they get swindled or know the answer for algebra?
I’ll start:
Monet:
While not having a formal education and being a thief, despite her looks, Monet is a huge bookworm. Stealing any and all books even when she was young to read and asking her parents or brother for help on big words.
Even when not reading, she has a vast knowledge of sewing and fabrics, whats a good fabric and whats bad, fake, how to be resourceful, etc.
she can also speak Chinese, English and a bit of french.
that being said, she's not big on anything technical work, especially dealing with math. she's very much for anything that lets her creativity and resourcefulness shine. It's a drag when she is forced to learn something she doesn't want to learn of.
Rosamie:
Having a formal education from her teacher, (when said teacher wasn't drunk) Rosamie has a lot of cooking, forgaging and cursed object knowledge.
she knows the difference between an edible mushroom and a poisonous one, what flowers are good for eating and ones more for garnishes. Rosamie is very good at technical stuff, mostly when physics and gravity are involved, or not involved at all.
also makes food for animals, knows whats good for them and what's not, it's super cute uwu.
she does have a tendency to fall into her own mind while doing something, especially if it's second nature to her. Which can either lead to her own, or other's, injury if no one is careful.
Keiki:
Spirit training had allowed Keiki to see any and all spirits without hinderance, as well as the mortal plane itself. She can also see how certain channels connect to spirits and help or hinder them, like Ais and the red eyed people to the seaspring, glowing red to find any of them easier, almost like a beacon.
she has a basic education, reading, writing, etc.
Shes not as street smart as the other two, she'd prob get swindled by a small child if they were convincing enough or an old woman selling her something out of pity--
Still, she's not so naive to not call internal BS on something. Just tries to give the benefit of the doubt, sometimes, to her detriment.

Avocado & Spinach Superfood Smoothie
Ingredients:
1 ripe avocado, peeled and pitted
2 cups fresh spinach leaves
1 banana, preferably frozen
1 tablespoon chia seeds, plus extra for garnish
1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk (or any plant milk of your choice)
1/2 cup Greek yogurt or a dairy-free alternative for a vegan option
Honey or agave syrup to taste (optional)
Ice cubes (optional, if you prefer a colder smoothie)
Edible flowers and thin slices of lime or lemon for garnish
Instructions:
Blend the Base:
In a high-powered blender, combine the avocado, spinach, banana, chia seeds, almond milk, and Greek yogurt. If you like your smoothie a little sweeter, add honey or agave syrup to taste.
