tacomlu… there’s more letters there than i remember there being. take a chance on me… lu? i’m realizing this is not relevant uhh anyway,

i’ll admit “dsmp person gets isekai’d to hermitcraft for therapy” isn’t a preferred trope of mine, so i don’t think i’d have picked it up were it not recommended to me / were i not told the red king is somewhere in one of the sequels, cuz i love him. i’ve also only read the first one so i can’t speak for the later two

since it’s not a trope i pick up to read on my own, it’s not one id think of if you asked me to recommend dsmp fics i liked off the top of my head, but if you like that trope and these characters, you’d probably enjoy it. it has a lot of interesting concepts plus a generally compassionate read on the sympathetic characters

 A hand grabbed her arm. The Winter woman looked up in frantic horror, locking eyes with the Summer man in purple-black. With the heat coming off his robes, she felt like her skin was starting to scorch. The Upper fae smiled at her. “You,” he said, the words somehow arriving in her mind soundlessly. The man pulled on his right to administrate this small universe, the so-precious knowledge he had about all the subjects in his realm. “Niki Nihachu.” Her name, her name, her true name. It hit her mind like a lightning strike. Everything about her was illuminated, all the small directions and actions and decisions that made up a person, from the branch to the root in a single incandescent flare. And it was all under his control. Her luck had just run out. “I need you to hurt someone for me,” his voice said in her mind, and her body moved without her input. The Winter woman’s body stepped forward into a near-silent room, the only sounds footsteps clicking against the floor, the crackle of flame, and someone’s strangled sob. OR: a day in the life of some of the staff of the Midday Court.

I, in my infinite sense of humour, started going "okay so what if you COULD write something where people were referred to by their hair colour but you could make it good?"

The Angel of Death’s new charge commented a dear name to the ancient crow on the sign in front of him, a small blonde child looking at the avian hybrid with wide blue eyes filled with an ocean of curious questions. A dragon skull encased the top half of his face, held by some unknown force as wild gold curls spilled around it. His rose scaled wings were held close to his spine, peering up at the tall older blonde with an expectant stare.

“Oh Goddess, where do I start with that bastard?” Phil said with a wicked smile, thinking of his piglin partner-in-crime fighting a god in a different realm.

They had outlived everyone else they held fondness for, the ageless Blessed of the Goddess always did, but still every few hundred years they went off and did their own thing for a while. The blonde crow fidgeting with the emerald he always wore, a physical marker that matched the jewellery Techno also wore of who they made an eternal vow to.

Didn’t mean it didn’t hurt like the worst agony when all he wanted was his pink-haired best friend at his side, ready to destroy the world if needed.

Chayanne nudged him again, his expression impatient which Phil laughed at.

“Tell ya what mate, how about the story of when we first met? Only one tale tonight though, my little dragon boy, you must sleep!”

I had difficulties deciding how to count WIPs that were updating throughout the year but eventually I managed to keep track of the difference in word count between the last time i read it and the new word count. Not sure if I'll keep it like that next year. I ended up reading 71% completed works, partially because it was such a pain to calculate and keep up with WIPs in this system, partially because it's a habit for me to filter them out automatically.

I was all over the place in terms of fandom in the second half of the year but Jan-June I read mostly MCYT/SBI fics. From July-Dec, only September had MCYT as its top fandom.

I tagged everything as one of four genres: Fluff, Angst, Smut, Dark. I read 280 Angst - 35% of fics, 202 Fluff, 128 Smut, and 170 Dark fics.

In terms of the tags I read, I manually tagged all my fics when I entered them and my most-read tag was Hurt/Comfort. Second most-read tag was Found Family. Following that was some smut tags I had... may be a data error because if there was smut I made sure to tag it right but I didn't tag small instances of other things in that ff.

Also, I only added some tags later on, like Slow Burn & PWP, so they don't appear at all in earlier entries. For 2023, I've kept a lot of these tags and added more, especially to cover the romance front since I wasn't reading much rom in the beginning of 2022.

I really liked this project, it encouraged me to finish the fics that I read. It also made me read & ao3 bookmark more mindfully, I think. I'm really interested to see the difference from this year to next year.

Finally found the time to sit down and read songs of change, and now I see why it's titled that lol. It's so good! The way you described Wilbur slowly transforming was really clever because the reader could probably figure out what was happening sooner than Wil, so it was kind of like dramatic irony of a sort.

I know this is mainly sandduo-centric, but emeraldduo never fails to make me smile. I love the constant of the emerald earrings. Now I wanna draw both Phil and Techno as mers.

I assumed the Captain is inspired by Puffy, but I was wondering if the Quatermaster was inspired by anyone. I know Phil, Wilbur, Techno, and Schlatt are the only ones tagged, but it made me curious. I originally thought it was Eret, though later on, I thought it was Niki, if there is a cc that you used for reference anyways.

This is amazing as always! Love it!

thank you!! I loved the slow transformation part of songs of change. it was meant to be easy for the reader to figure out thanks to having outside info (ie: the nonconsensual body modification tag), but still subtle enough that wilbur doesn't seem like a total idiot for not realizing

emerald duo yeah :) love their dynamic in this fic sm they're so fun to write

the pirate crew besides schlatt were not inspired by anyone! those were all ocs, I just didn't name them because I don't like naming ocs or making them seem like 'important' characters in my fic. if you wanna see them as specific characters you can, but in total honesty they were all just randos in my head

oh hell yeah another fun one

usually I have 2-3 variations on my order when I get boba and it entirely depends on 1) if I'm in the mood for milk tea or not and 2) if they have thai tea or not

if I'm in the mood for milk tea and they have thai tea, then I get thai tea with boba. if I'm in the mood for milk tea but they don't have thai tea specifically, then I like oolong milk tea with boba

most of the time though I'm not in the mood for milk tea. so in those cases I'll get mango green tea if they have it, or just plain green tea (no milk just the normal tea) with lychee jelly :)

Phil and Ranboo stared down at the little row of empty demitasse cups. “What the fuck,” Phil breathed.

“So we know the creature isn’t Enderian,” Ranboo said. “Cause it took the water.”

“It also took the milk, and the plant milk, and the nether spice mix,” Phil said, pointing to the glasses in turn. “And it did it without disturbing the sweetner I put it around it.” He took a deep breath. “And it either did it without moving the glasses, or it fuckin’ put them back where they started.”

“So it either flies or hovers?” Ranboo said hopefully. “That could be fun.” He considered. “Or really precise jumps.”

Phil looked again around the small storage room. There were boxes of cups and lids on the shelves, some dry goods and flimsy wraps for the sandwich station, the hot water heater and an air-monitoring setup from Life Support & Recycling, and not a lot of places to hide. “What the fuck,” he said again.

“Yeah, the spice mix is the real kicker,” Ranboo said. He pushed his glasses back up his nose. “That’s going to poison what, 98 percent of species?”

Or: I write the Humans Are Space Orcs story everyone's gotta write, only it's techno-centric and the syndicate is there.
