Don't get me wrong, I do see the positives in - for lack of a better word, - normalizing mental disorders. Although it does have its fair share of problems, which stem from the way the majority of media talks about it.

Example 1. Watered down autism being used as the punchline

This is clear in the way people talk about such topics, as if it's just a fun little adjective to make your remarks seem more quirky and relatable, saying things such as: "Why did [insert pronoun] do that, is/are [insert pronoun] acoustic?" (please note that the majority of people who say this say "it" as the pronoun they use to refer to the person who does something slightly weird/out of the norm, this is done intentionally, to subconsciously show the receiver of the message and the person saying this, that the person in question is less than them, so much so, that it's not even a person, it's an "it", which is used in a derogatory way. This further reinforces the narrative that autistic people are sub-human, and therefore should be shunned for the way they behave.)

Example 2. Watered down Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

Another example is the "everything needs to be organized, omg I am so OCD!" which just completely undermines the stress that individuals with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder go through. Because it's not as simple as being a "clean-freak", or occasionally needing to double-check whether you turned the stove off. I'm sure that the folks with OCD wish it was as simple as that. But OCD comes with unwanted, intrusive thoughts, that cause a lot if distress to the individual. Which brings me to my third example:

Example 3. Intrusive or impulsive thoughts?

It has recently become popular to say something along the lines of "Intrusive thoughts won." when talking about getting your hair dyed or confessing a crush to someone. That is a common mistake, but the thoughts being demonstrated here are actually impulsive thoughts, since they don't bring distress to the person thinking them, and it's not affecting them negatively in their day-to-day life. Intrusive thoughts are more like unwanted thoughts of harming someone or yourself, racist thoughts, where your brain keeps thinking of a slur and you can't get it out of your head, it can be about distressing and disgusting topics such as incest, and if you're religious it can be thoughts of heresy. These are intrusive thoughts, as they cause great distress to the person forced to deal with them. IMPORTANT NOTE! People who struggle with intrusive thoughts are not inherently bad people because of them. These thoughts are unwanted and involuntary. Just because someone has these thoughts doesn't mean that they want to act on them, and that's what categorizes intrusive thoughts!

TL;DR stop watering down mental disorders, and learn the difference between impulsive thoughts, and intrusive thoughts. P. S having intrusive thoughts does NOT make you a bad person!

My stance will forever be as long as you aren't commiting federal crimes, enabling someone committing those crimes, or directly hurting anybody (human or animal) I generally cannot be assed what you get up to on your free time unless you get me unwillingly involved

(I hope to god its obvious what I mean by "committing federal crimes" in this context here by the way, indulgences of the underaged variety to be clear, the number one thing I will never tolerate under any circumstances and I refuse to waver on this)

I don't try to actively indulge in "pro para" content however or want to call myself that in those terms or whatever because 1. I admit I'm still relatively unfamiliar with the term and have extreme trust issues and I've been online long enough to know exactly how not so great people can potentially use that term in horrible ways and I'm not looking to risk putting myself in danger again (while I'm still in the middle of recovery no less) (I'm cripplingly paranoid) 2. I still refuse to get myself involved in potential discourse if I can help it (I'm cripplingly paranoid) and 3. especially because im honest to god so fucking tired of delegating my opinions to this-and-that buzzwords that can mean anything depending on whos looking at me because- not trying to make you or anyone else feel bad, genuinely, because I know why ya do it -but assumptions about me are the bane of my existence and have done nothing but start shit for me and I am exhausted, I much prefer being asked directly my opinions on things instead, I'm not the type to intentionally hide these things (unless its for my safety obviously)

Anyway I feel like I aged 25 years making this post I'm going to go take my pain meds and go to bed, apologies for the fuckin essay length post I have a lot of thoughts about things and stuff

i have no personal opinion on the depp/heard situation because refuse to look into it enough to actually learn the facts of the case. but the way people are talking about heard in particular in a very gendered "she's a mentally ill bitch of course she's making it all up" way is really truly disgusting. like if she is lying and depp really was abused by her and not the other way around then ok, again i literally do not know, but once you start throwing mentally ill people under the bus and calling women crazy lying cunts and being like "as if that would ever happen 🤣" when they talk about the details of their alleged abuse i think you're just an ableist misogynist and you need to get pushed off a cliff like asap.

💫) ‘you’re such a talented writer’ or ‘wow your writing is top tier’ are some of my favourites due to the fact that I doubt myself a lot if I’m even good at what I do- so having some reassurance that I’m actually talented in some way, that some people can see worth in my words, that really means something to me <33

💋) due to my horrific attention span these days, I really don’t read all too much anymore and if I do, it’s usually on ao3. however, in the past, I’ve always commented about how the piece makes me feel and the events that happened that stuck out to me. Ooooh, or phrases they used that sound particularly pretty to me, I always love complementing on their use descriptions <33

🕯) this one’s rather difficult, but I suppose, go forward with the thought of not everyone is nice in this space, but not everyone is mean either. It’s a mixture of many different people all with a shared interest, and you’ll find someone to connect with over it at some point. And I think uplifting one another, commenting and sharing each other’s works, is really what glues the community together. It creates connections, helps the author feel good about themselves and their talent, overall it’s a very positive experience. I don’t have a lot of moots but the ones that I do make this experience far more pleasant, and communicating with others who share the same interests as you is precious :,). About anxiety, pace yourself and realise that this is not a race, it’s a marathon. You don’t have to push yourself to deal with negativity or rush to get content out. If it’s stressing you out, take a break or slow yourself down. You might find that’s exactly what you need sometimes !!

Who or what got you into F1? first of all, one of my friends has been watching it since summer break of the 2022 season and i was always like "omg i don't get it why would anyone watch f1" (yeah🤡) but more so, in april when i should have been studying for my a-levels and i was procrastinating, i was looking for something to distract myself with. so i went on youtube and got recommended some youtube videos by the official f1 channel like "11 times ___ happened", stuff like that. i started watching those, then i watched some funny driver moments compilations and once i was done with my first few exams, the miami gp came up and i decided to watch it bc why not. ever since i'm deep in the hole lol

2. Who was the very first F1 driver you supported? Do you support them now? Have your opinions on them differed or stayed the same since then? the first one who stood out to me was charles leclerc bc i thought he was funny in the yt videos and i'd also seen some really cool racing moments of him so i was like "slay i like him" and that hasn't really changed, just that ,over time, more and more drivers have been 'added to my collection' lmao if anything, i admire him even more now bc he never gives up and stays with ferrari and his sheer optimism is something i look up to a lot

3. Who’s your current favourite F1 driver? it's still charles lkdghslkghs but alex and oscar are really close to being number 1 too

4. Is there a driver pairing or pairings you support? What made you attracted to that pairing in the first place? this is such a basic tumblr answer, but lestappen are just that pairing kslghsklghsg like the narrative are you kidding me? but to make sure, disclaimer: obviously i don't ship real people, this is all in the realm of friendship and stuff yk

7. Do you have a favourite circuit? Can be from the past or from the current calendar. bc i haven't watched a full season yet i can't say honestly, and again the last season is such a blur, i can't remember singular circuits that stood out to me. only time will tell

(un)fortunately not, i also don't think it would be the best environment for me bc there's way too many people, all these loud noises, drunk people, it would basically be sensory hell pahaha

First off, welcome! Whether you’re a twitter veteran looking for anything but whatever twitter is, or a new user just done signing up, glad to see you in our ranks beloveds! Welcome home. Refer to this quick tour to make sure your fandom experience (or tumblr experience in general) is a positive one!

Disclaimer: I know it’s long, but please try to read or skim through til the end if you’re new here! This is by no means meant to be a rule book (for the most part lol), only a guide to help you get settled easier!

1) Your blog

This is where people will see and interact with you, so put some effort into it!

Try to choose a name (url) that’s simple. You can see it as your brand, it’s how people will perceive you and remember you. If you’d like to interact with other users here (and not use the site just for the content) it’s better to have something short and sweet, preferably without spaces. (Of course, these are only suggestions.) Rest assured, you can change it literally any time you want.

Have a theme. Utilize the tool that lets you edit your blog’s color or the font of your bio! You can make it match your profile picture, or your blog if it has a theme of its own. Make it feel homey :]

Fill in your bio. People will be checking out your profile probably more often than you think. Don’t leave it empty! Put in any information you’re comfortable with sharing and isn’t too personal (like your age if you’re a minor, or other TMI that can be found on other people’s carrds). It’s always better to add a name/nickname people can use to refer to you by, but feel free to use your blog description to shitpost still.

You can have an intro post. More often than not, you’ll see a blog have a pinned post, a post permanently appearing at the top of a blog until you pin another post or unpin it. You can make one of those, if you’d like to introduce yourself in more length, link any other socials or a carrd, and show others visiting your blog how you tag things so it’ll be easy for them to navigate. Not an obligation.

Keep your anonymity and your safety. It should go without saying, but there’s no harm in repeating it just in case. Your comfort, privacy and safety has the utmost importance. Don’t share any information you don’t want to. Don’t share your age if you’re a minor, or any other incredibly personal info. I’d encourage you to go by a nickname that’s not your real name, (blog name, your brand, remember?) since there’s safety in anonymity, and that’s lowkey one of the big deals of tumblr, but that’s up to you still.

Choose what you want to be visible. Your liked posts and who you follow are all things you can set to keep to yourself and hide from the publics eye, how handy! You should go through all the setting while you’re at it, set it to your comfort.

Side blogs are a thing. You can have multiple blogs that you can use for different things (see: different fandoms, art blog, etc) to keep them organized or away from your followers. Just remember that the replies and off-anon asks you send will be from your main blog, as well as where you follow other blogs from.

2) Interacting with others

You’ve set up your account, now comes the fun part!

Follow to your heart’s desire. If you care about others seeing who you follow, fear not! In tumblr, usually only two types of blogs keep their following visible to others: newbies, and big blogs using it to point people on other good blogs’ direction. Just turn it off, and go ham following people.

Customize your dashboard. Gonna mention just two things here: this is another reason why it’s really important that you follow blogs without sparing, your dash will collect dust otherwise; and you should turn off “best stuff first” in your dashboard settings, to have a better community here and all.

Follow tags. You can set it in your settings that posts with your followed tags appear on your dashboard.

You can check the og post for edits and context. When you see a reblogged post you don’t understand the context of (or don’t recognize the character in case of fanarts), click on the profile so it will take you to the original post. From there you can check the original poster’s tags to get the context, or see if there have been any edits made to the post, since when you edit a post it doesn’t update any past reblogs.

Send people asks... This is how you make mutuals, people! Do it off-anon if you’d like them to know your blog, or anon if you’d rather not! (You can still end your messages with a signature to show you’re the same person, -[name] is one example.) Send them nice messages, ask their opinion on something, discuss things, or just straight up shitpost lol. Go wild. The sky’s your limit and it’s definitely more than 280 characters.

...and let them ask you! You can set your preference in the settings, do it on desktop tumblr to access more settings tho! What you can customize on mobile is limited (like letting people ask you things anonymously, that’s only on desktop settings). In my personal opinion, it’s always better to tag their username (or a nickname you give them, if they’re a friend) on that post, since you wouldn’t want your interactions with your friends to get buried in your blog forever.

Comment on posts. If you have something to say but don’t want the post to appear on your blog you can add a comment. The owner of the post will get a notif for it, but for anyone else you need to tag them.

For the love of god, reblog. People will only see your liked posts if you have it visible to public and they specifically go on your blog to look at them. You like something? You reblog. It’s already hard for posts to circulate properly, if you don’t reblog them literally no one will see them. If not for anything do it for the artists. Just hold and drag on mobile to fast rb.

3) Your Posts

Finally here! Don’t be a lurker, post and engage!

Make use of “read more”. If your post is long, add it. That’s what you clicked on earlier to expand this post. On desktop leave an empty line and you’ll see three dots appear, and on mobile type :readmore: on that empty line.

Draft a post to come back to it later. Pretty self explanatory.

Queue your post. Whether it’s your own post or you’re reblogging, make use of the queue feature to a) not spam reblog and fill up the dashboard of people following you and b) keep your blog active while you’re gone. Mess around in the settings, it’s fairly easy to set up.

Schedule your post. Same as queueing, the only difference is you get to choose the exact time your post will go up. Handy if you want to schedule a post for certain dates like april fools, or 5 years in the future for some reason.

Format your texts. You can do all kinds of fancy stuff here (that’s a link, try pressing on it). Twitter doesn’t have this, make use of it. Changes depending on whether you’re on mobile or desktop. (Desktop has less features.)

Check your stats. If you’re trying to understand the algorithm better or want to look at some pretty graphs you can get your data on that on desktop tumblr.

@ people in comments. You’ll get all the notifs when people comment on your posts but they won’t see your reply unless you tag them in your message.

4) Tags, and tagging a post

This is where my earlier statement “this isn’t a rule book” stops being applicable. It’s not a war crime to go against these, I won’t come chasing you (don’t take my word for this) but you’ll work up a bad rep. Just saying lol.

Do NOT crosstag posts. It’s really tempting to add unrelated tags to increase your posts’ interaction, I know, but that’s not what tumblr is about. Don’t be a dick and make other communities’ experience worse for them.

Always tag your posts with “crit/critical/discourse/etc” if it calls for it. There’s no exceptions to it. This is the reason you see people migrating to tumblr. Let people enjoy things.

Don’t main tag a critical/negative post. If your crit post is about “Thing”, you add the “Thing critical” tag, but not the “Thing” tag. People block crit tags if they don’t want to see it, don’t shove it in their faces by main tagging it.

If you don’t want to see something, just block it. Another reason why people are able to survive on tumblr. You don’t start discourse, you don’t make call-outs, you block. You can find something for every community you can think of if you go looking for it. The worst of the worst probably won’t ever appear on your dash, but if you’re worried or feel the need for it, you know where the block button is.

Feel free to shitpost or ramble. More often than not you’ll see people rb a post with a comment, and their elaboration will be in the tags. The tags are only visible on your profile and the notifications of the owner of the og blog. Just a thing people do.

Reblog artists’ posts with nice comments in the tags! Commenting on a drawing is usually done through the tags (Not an obligation, again, just a thing people do. Feel free to add your comment on the rb itself if you’d want other people to see it tho!) and leave nice messages for the artists! It’s a win-win for everyone involved.

If you have more than a single follower, always use the common tw warning tags. You don’t need to tw everything, but tw’ing some common things is the bare minimum human decency. Keep it safe for others.

Tag a post “long post” if it’s really long. Pretty self explanatory. Don’t make people scroll through all that please lol.

You can use them to organize your blog. This is more of a pro tip, if you’d like to not miss a post in your blog, cause they will start pilin’ up soon enough.

#Liveblogging is pretty fun. If you’d like to talk to people during streams, don’t forget to add the relevant tags still! Again, you won’t show up on people’s dash otherwise.

JM JK timeline - my observations how they grew over the years

Part 2 end of 2015

Disclaimer: these are my own opinions and conclusions. Feel free to disagree, but hate or aggression will be unacceptable.

Before moving on I had to re-watch the 29 Aug 2015 HK concert clip again (you know, just to make sure I’m making the right observation), and noticed something more. This has to do with JM’s facial expression when he catches JK looking at him, JK not averting his eyes. That look between them is something else alright. But, with Jimin, his expression then and later, when he continues to sneak gazes towards JK, with him the looks feels like “is this really happening?”, “is this for real?”, and one thing for sure, what we see is pure happiness. Just noticed this little extra thing and felt the need to share…

End of August 2015 was a turning point in JK and JM’s relationship.

We can see a total change in the dynamics on camera between the two. No longer this tug of war, or push and pull. From now it’s more of a pull and lean into or a calmness, a togetherness.

As of end of 2015 at every public appearance or award show appearance JK is always next to or behind JM (unless physically prevented by another member). He wants to and needs to be close to him.

By no means was there any kind of sexual meaning here, just JM trying to pull JK forward. But what is clear here is the level of intimacy, that allows him to pull him by his crotch without JK even flinching. I mean dude, someone just grabbed you by the crotch… Even in SK, where skinship is abundant, I doubt feeling up or grabbing another’s privates is something that wouldn’t warrant some kind of surprised reaction, especially when it’s somewhat out of the blue. The lack of reaction here says something to me. Me and my criminal mind J.

JK pulled forward by JM and JK keeps moving back behind him. As I keep saying, JM is JK’s safe place, biggest example coming up in future post.

8th Dec 2015 Yokohama arena concert – JK sits next to JM, I mean really close to him, and puts his leg over JM’s leg, something that takes JM by surprise and brings a smile to his face. Jin, on the other hand tries to pull JK off JM, with no success, as JK’s going: “NOPE”, only to give up and sit down next to both of them. JK is like: “I’m doing this, and I don’t care what anyone thinks”.

JK’s funny like that, with his big gestures, being super impulsive at times, doing things without thinking it through, what the implications may be (RB ear nibble or hand signing I love you specifically to JM on red carpet, for example), while other times being so reserved, it may seem even cold, when interacting with JM. The latter is mainly when reacting to something JM does or says, and I think it comes from feeling inadequate, not knowing what the ‘right’ way is to react, possibly afraid of his reaction. It most definitely isn’t because they split up, or that he doesn’t love JM anymore. That is just part of JK’s personality and duality. He’s an invert, and as such doesn’t always know how to react socially. It’s just easier for him to act, rather than react.

There is a change in the way JK and JM interact. They lean into each other all the time. Whenever it’s up to them they are side by side, connected at the hip. They just seem happy to be next to each other all the time, the interaction between them at times flirtatious. Now JM was always a flirt, but this has now become a two way street.

I’d love to bring every single moment out there, every fansign, but this post would turn into many many more posts. So, to conclude end of 2015 and the shift in interaction in one word: MORE, there is just so much MORE.

Last, but definitely not least for 2015 we have to talk about KBS Gayo Daechukje 2015. I mean, this is a big one out there, and a pretty controversial one at that. There is the very famous JM coming of age question to JK: “Do you have a desire?” The controversy is to JK’s answer. I do not speak Korean, so I tried to read up as much possible to try and find out what exactly was asked and to the nature of the answer. I read about the drinking alcohol theory, that many tend to believe in, but I have also seen that many Korean Army’s disagree with this theory. I may not speak the language, but I do know how to read body language, and it was pretty loud and clear here. Did JK point at JM meaning that he was his desire? I don’t know if that is what he meant. I do know that both Hobi and JM were in shock by the action, they most definitely did not understand that he meant drinking alcohol, because if they did, their reactions would not have been: Hobi going “What? What?”, and JM being all flushed and shy and giggly and pushing and hitting JK and telling him to say something. I mean, come on…

As a whole, during the whole thing JK and JM were sitting super close, JK playing with JM’s hand, even way after he was supposed to let go of it, and enjoying hitting JM’s but a little too much. They were just so giggly and happy.

During that period, Aug to Dec 2015, when the relationship was budding, did JM and JK come outright and tell the rest of the members? Maybe they did, but I, personally, think this happened at a later stage, maybe sometime in 2016. At this point everything was new and uncertain. They were testing the waters, and there was no need to ‘notify’ the others about something that they themselves were unsure about at that stage.

Do the members notice the shift in the dynamics? I am not sure yet, although RM screaming out that JM will give JK 50 shirts for his birthday after JM was asked what his gift will be, and JM starting to answer that it will be a kiss, leaves me to wonder that maybe he did, or at least some of them may have had their suspicions at the very least.

A stand out example to me that members were unaware of what was going on is the Jin birthday surprise Vlive 10 Dec 2015 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BImv5dImzWo from 5.55min). Not necessarily what JM and JK are doing in the background, even though that JM is pretty much on top of JK, but more Tae’s reaction to what he can see on camera, turning around, JM’s jerking away with a very guilty look on his face (not guilty as I have been licking the cake face). But then Tae’s face, looking back again, with a perplexed expression, one of ‘what the hell????’ or even ‘Oh, wait a second…that explains so much…’ .

uhhh well first of all I think childe x zhongli is like the most pathetic and boring "default" pairing this fandom came up with. they have 0 chemistry and I just hate everything about it. as much as I headcanon both as queers... together romantically it feels like 2 straight men put together by ya*i fans............ also before i blacklisted to ship and voluntarily looked through the ship tag... every post felt like a hard ooc. i could not understand what childe or zhongli are supposed to be as individuals, what they have in common, what kind of dynamic they have. deadass most crack ships with 0 interactions have more flavor than this tragedy

eng VAs are great people and appreciate their work but whoever decides the voices ain't doing it right. every male character sounds like a middle-aged white man.. and most of the youngest characters sound like very obvious adults trying to pretend to be babies. all of it irks me so bad god.. and there are so many characters that lose their little spark in eng........ (yet in korean and chinese they're completely fine??)

all of the playable adult male characters are shitty people in one way or another. none of them are good. they have reasons and different perspectives, yes, but they suck. every single one of them. stop ignoring it or trying to say only some are evil. none of them are inherently terrible.. but they're not these precious and righteous individuals. they're men.................... that says a lot, actually. :\

and as for women? god i hate the idea that they're all so uninteresting and weak. lichrally just a bunch of girlbosses, morals of most could be questioned as well... anyways some of the girls not having extremely dramatic stories doesn't make them any less cool. let them be

Adventures in the Forgotten Realms Commanders

Due to circumstances I won’t get into at time of writing (don’t worry it’s mostly good) I’ve been forced, dragged over, and required to actually fucking read all the new Commanders from Magic’s newest set, Adventures in the Forgotten Realms. I’ve only recently gotten deeper into D&D, I don’t know who like any of these clowns are (except Tiamat, obviously).

Also due to circmstances beyond my control (that are less good but understandable) my Commander night has been called off and I don’t get to play with my shiny new Cabal Coffers. It’s a bit sad, and it means I want to get my fix elsewhere.

What better way than to combine these two and just write about every AFR ‘mander? That’ll pass the time. There’s like, what, 30? I can manage that if I’m quick. Let’s get into it.

(No I’m not doing the precon cards I haven’t been staring at those all week)

Acererak the Archlich

The way I see this guy going is one of two things. You either do infinite Venture by making him free (not too hard in Black, what with Heartless Summoning, Carnival of Souls, etc.) and have a probably fine combo commander. For the record, infinite Venture does kill your opponents flat-out, BUT only because of Lost Mine of Phandelver’s Dark Pool room, and only if their life totals are lower than your deck count because you’re going to be drawing it in the process. That shouldn’t be an issue, but you never know.

The other option is just playing him fairly, which requires completing Tomb of Annihilation, and you just have a kinda mid Stax commander I guess? Eh.

Asmodeus the Archfiend

This Devil is clearly trying to echo prior Demons like Griselbrand and Vilis, but I’m not sure it’s going to be successful- if only because the mana investment means it’s a lot slower. And if he gets killed when you don’t have B up? Blown the fuck out. Add in no evasion and this is a God I’m happy to pass on.

Barrowin of Clan Undurr

Okay so this is kind of like Alesha, in less colours and more mana, if you manage to complete a dungeon. And there aren’t that many dungeon cards, so you’re probably playing some bad ones to make up for it. This is definitely a 99’er in that Esper Dungeon precon, and certainly not a commander.

Bruenor Battlehammer

In an attempt to solve one of Boros’s problems, Bruenor saves you a bunch of mana on equips and makes shit like Argentum Armor substantially more playable. He also gets kinda fuckin beefy with even just a few on him, hitting that 7 no matter what the first one is and 11 not long after. As far as Boros Boys go, you can do a lot worse!

Delina, Wild Mage

Didn’t we just get this card? Like, in C21? This is harder to make busted than Rionya, but it is cheaper and works with legends, so fair call. There’s not enough “advantage” dice mechanics in Red, certainly, so you can’t go probability-mad with this, but it’s pretty decent value. It also happens to be a Shaman, so it works with that new MH2 card, and that’s fun.

Drizzt Do’Urden

This guy has a lot of potential, and for added bonus, he has a cat! A lot of the cards that are good in this are the ones that are good in, say, Varolz, but honestly if you just want to play Selesnya Beatsticks then Drizzt might be the way to go. Can’t play him in Cats, though, unless you want to lose Kaheera, so.

Ebondeath, Dracolich

Yeah I don’t think this one was for this format? I mean it’s super recursive, and probably a really good candidate for a Homicidal Seclusion/Deadly Wanderings deck. I think we need one or two more of that effect to make it actually playable, but I still like the idea.

Farideh, Devil’s Chosen

Look, I tried. I really tried, but there really just isn’t enough to make Farideh work yet. At least in black-border, as I think she’s probably one of the best silver-bordered commanders printed in a minute. A shame, because I sure do enjoy Tieflings, and the effect is legitimately solid if you can trigger it consistently.

Grazilaxx, Illithid Scholar

While I imagine it’s a perfectly solid commander in their own right, basically Mono-Blue Edric but not group-huggy, where this is going to really shine is in Ninja decks. Holy shit, this is so nutty for those. Honestly, ETB decks in general are going to like them, because the choice of either taking damage and letting them draw or letting them reuse a powerful ETB is pretty tough. I like everything about this, except the art, because I’m not into tentacles no thank you.

Gretchen Titchwillow

When Strixhaven came out, I thought Zimone was going to be the most boring Simic commander we’d ever see. But here comes Gretchen to outdo them.

Look, Simic can do good designs. Even at uncommon- Imoti, Moritte, and Eutropia are all super interesting in my opinion. But Simic being just draw and lands has become a meme, and I’m sick of it. Extremely so, for three main reasons- one, it’s boring, two, it’s been all over the place since WoTC decided +1/+1 counters being their only theme was bad (and, fair,) and three, it’s good.

Gretchen is the most boring card in the entire set, in my opinion, and I sure hope she isn’t a cool character in the lore because that’d be such a waste.

Hama Pashar, Ruin Seeker

There are 21 venture cards in Azorius, and some of them are even good. Most of the Room effects are pretty minor, however, save for some of the endgame ones (and copying Cradle of the Death God is pointless, Atropal is legendary), so copying them isn’t actually a huge amount of value. I’d still play this in Esper Venture, but I don’t think I’d build around it.

Icingdeath, Frost Tyrant

While this clearly isn’t built for this format, equipping this dragon with it’s own tongue is kind of a hilarious idea. You could do worse for Voltron decks, I guess, and in the 99 it’s both a thing to slap equipment on and an equipment itself- like a flying (and weaker) Halvar. Eh? I just wish the token wasn’t legendary- like yeah Flavour but this effect gets a lot worse when you can’t recur it. It’s rare that someone goes out of their way to kill an equipment that isn’t super busted, so Frost Tongue is probably hanging around for a while anyway.

Man, it feels awful if they bolt this one, huh?

Inferno of the Star Mounts

Okay this is fucking cool. It’s a Shivan Dragon with haste, and that ability is probably pretty feasible to activate- keep in mind Braid of Fire and Neheb and the like are in the format- and combined with a swing will just kill someone. In fact, when I saw this, my brain immediately started looking for ways to shrink it, just so you can get multiple 20-damage wallops in a turn.

…there aren’t very many. But still! Even if you can’t get to 20 multiple times in a turn, getting to 21 once or twice is pretty good!

Iymrith, Desert Doom

The fourth of our dragon cycle, because hey, it is Dungeons and Dragons. Iymrith reads basically identical to Dragonlord Ojutai, but without White- and for that kinda control deck, White is pretty nice to have. Iymrith can draw you more cards than Ojutai, but only if you’re low, in a blue deck, in Commander, so. With that said, a deck that just loads this with cheap auras/equipment might actually be pretty good, since they can load you back up on cards and keep the Voltron flowing, so, maybe? I’d honestly consider it if I didn’t already have Mono-blue Voltron as a deck.

Kalain, Reclusive Painter

Okay this is super interesting. He is, unfortunately kinda fighting with the RB precon face, Prosper, for the new RB treasure deck, but for an uncommon there’s a fair bit going on here.

Actually, wait, is there? I thought about this for another couple seconds, and I don’t think this card actually does that much. It’s one treasure, and it benefits you a little bit for doing something you frankly don’t really want to be burning treasures on? Like it probably plays a mean Marionette Master, but everyone does that.

There really aren’t any other RB Artifact commanders, though, aside from Prosper or a partner deck. So ehhhh? Why are more people playing this than, like, Bruenor?

Krydle of Baldur’s Gate

That’s a lot of words that don’t actually do a whole lot. I like the second ability, but Commander and especially Dimir aren’t hurting for evasion options. This is probably pretty good in Rogues, but that deck has a de facto best commander now, so. If this came out like, five years ago, it’d be kinda hype, but not anymore.

As an aside, I do kinda hate it when they just print a Tribal commander (or anything like this) that’s just miles and miles better than every other commander for that archetype, like with Anowon 2 or Edgar Markov or Anje Falkenrath. Wait….those are all vampires…….

Minsc, Beloved Ranger

Shivam Bhatt did a fucking excellent breakdown of this character’s lore on twitter, which I recommend reading- the history of D&D’s lore is fucking wild. As it is, this seems like a pretty fun Naya commander- there’s plenty of creatures that get way better if you make them large, even if targeting Boo seems kinda pointless.

Also, I need someone to explain to me why the “Top Cards” on EDHREC for this guy right now are, like, all combo cards.

WAIT NO FIGURED IT OUT, unlike Marath he doesn’t say X can’t be 0 so you can use him as a sac outlet, for fucks sake people.

Nadaar, Selfless Paladin

Hey remember all the things I said about the WB and WU dungeon cards? I mean, at least this guy could theoretically complete the dungeon on his own, but Mono-White is even more restrictive for what you could get, so. At least he draws a card every so often. And that anthem isn’t even remotely worth it, at all.

Old Gnawbone

Green eating up more of the colour pie, I see. Now to be fair, I’ve pondered Mono-Green artifacts for a while, and this is probably a better leader for that list than Oviya Pashiri (but…I like her….), but beyond that I’m not sure what you’re doing with this. I guess people playing Sakiko because they think she’s actually good and not because they like her have a new commander.

This is fuckbusted in the 99 of like a million decks though. So there’s that.

Orcus, Prince of Undeath

That…is so much mana. In a colour combo not especially great at garnering lots of it. The second ability scales fairly well, and it is a decent body on its own, but I don’t think this is going to be a particularly popular commander. Like, you have to pump 6 mana into this just to get a 2-drop back or to Infest the board? And that’s just the first time you cast it? Nahhhhh.

Oswald Fiddlebender

Artifact Pod? Yeah, okay, sure, that seems reasonable at two mana. Keeping this mono-white was a good idea, I can’t imagine how insane this’d be in blue. I’m no artifacts expert, I’m no pod expert, but this has to be busted, right? Like surely there’s an easy way to infinite this? Someone with more brains figure it out for me, but either way it’s still a bunch of value and also a tutor in the zone.

(convert two random 2-mana rocks or wellsprings into Basalt Monolith/Rings of Brighthearth, okay that’s a good start)

Shessra, Death’s Whisper

…ehhhhhhh. Okay, so, it’s a significantly worse Deathreap ritual in the command zone, and also a terrible Lure effect. Along with the flavour words on this taking up much more space than necessary, making the effects look much bigger and better than they are. Would it have hurt to give this deathtouch? Make it trigger on every end step? Lure more than once? I dunno, this just seems painfully weak to me. We’ve had an overabundance of Golgari commanders recently, to be fair- MH2 had 3, and before that was the enemy focused Strixhaven/C21, but that’s no excuse for this to be such trash- just look at Bruenor.

Targ Nar, Demon-Fang Gnoll

I hope you like Gnolls, because that’s gotta be the only reason you’re playing this. Hello Tuya Bearclaw/Syr Faren/im sure a bunch of other boring commanders, this is another one of you. This looks so bad next to the Gruul precon (which is apparently somehow the first Gruul precon) and, well, every other RG general from the past couple years (save, again, Tuya Bearclaw). Even the fuckin Walking Dead guy is cooler than this.

The Tarrasque

Disappointment part one over here is at time of writing the only commander from this set with a fat zero decks. Considering there were like 10 commanders at that number when I last checked, people are clearly trying out the set, so The Tarrasque being abandoned is particularly sad. It just…doesn’t do anything? It’s the fucking Tarrasque, and it doesn’t have trample, or a fear ability, or anything? Ward 10 is cute, basically being hexproof unless they have infinite mana (or an uncounterable spell), but really? I want more than this idiot for my 9 fucking mana commander. Ugh.

Tiamat

I believe I’ve talked about Tiamat before, when she got spoiled, but I can’t be arsed finding that and dredging it up. I’m still disappointed, basically, especially since I’ve now read her statblock and know what she actually does. They could’ve given her a cool ability per head like Cromat, or had her recur like she does in the lore, or something. I genuinely would have preferred if she was an Emrakul-style massive game-ender (with a no-reanimation no bullshit clause) than this. How utterly meh.

Trelasarra, Moon Dancer

This is literally just Ajani’s Pridemate but Selesnya and in the zone. Also you scry. Sure? It does also have two relevant creature types I guess, and they’d probably be good in a Soul Sisters deck. But it’s not like Selesnya was hurting for Lifegain commanders- this is basically just Lathiel but much leaner and voltron-ier.

Varis, Silverymoon Ranger

Wait you can’t even play this in Esper Venture, fuck. With Flash effects, you can start clearing dungeons well quick enough, but like, for what, a Wolf? And these defensive keywords aren’t getting you anywhere either. Blegh.

Side note- I’m a big fan of tokens, and collecting various token arts, and I was extremely disappointed when I found out that the Wolf token from this set is just…the Zendikar one again? They didn’t reuse the 3/3 Angel or the Goblin or even the Zombie, why just that one? Something must have happened behind the scenes here.

Also….Silverymoon? That sounds like shit.

Volo, Guide to Monsters

Hey, I know you, you’re from that one book. As much as Anti-Tribal sounds fun, I’m pretty sure this just turns into generic Simic value. Copying things is fun, I suppose, though not working with Legends hurts. I also appreciate that this supports playing a bunch of weirdo cards or ones that have fallen out of favor because they have more unique creature types- Anphin Mutineer, Acidic Slime, and Diluvian Primordial all seem like a lot of power here.

That said, is anyone ever letting this fucker stick around for a turn?

Xanathar, Guild Kingpin

Hey, I know you, you’re from that one book. This card is completely awful to play in webcam-commander, so it’s a good thing we’re all getting vaccinated, right?

So this is UB Gonti, I guess? And also unironically not the worst combo commander, since it stops people from playing spells on your turn in a very White-like effect. Add in some Lantern-style effects and you can get a real stew going with this guy. He looks like a lot of fun- and I’m sure he’ll end up popular as a result. Well, that and being on the cover of an expansion book gets you a lot of notoriety.

Zalto, Fire Giant Duke

Our final card, our final Venture card, and the only red one. So, uh, there are literally 4 other Venture cards in mono-red, and at least one of them is complete dogshit, so I can’t imagine this being very good. Also, it’s an Enrage trigger on a 3 toughness 5-drop? Far from ideal. I guess it’s a 7 power trampler for 5, but that’s kind of faint praise to damn with. Maybe if someone makes 5C Venture, or if Giant/Barbarian tribal feel lacking, then this guy can find a home.

Shoutout to the exactly one person who built this deck, by the way. I see you, Elder Demon Highlander, and your 100ish views on your deck tech.

And that’s the lot of them. Honestly, a lot more misses than hits, but that’s perfectly okay by me. 30 legends in a set is a lot, not to mention the 12 from the precons, and we’ve had so many actively playable legends recently that I’m fine with, like, half of these being trash. Trash is more fun anyway! Get yourself a fuckin Varis, why not.

Okay but seriously though who’s biting the bullet and building Tarrasque first? It’s not going to be me.

And asked for a non-alchool cocktail, as he quickly gives your command cause the bar isn't full of people yet, you question him suddenly about the meaning of your glass : the name echoed like foreigner and you already heard that somes drinks hides beautiful signification and history.

Who need to know something so useless and random ? Kawanishi didn't have a lot to respond to you but as he was intrigued and bored he tried despite that at first glance he didn't thought of you like a very open minded person.

Conversation last in like 3 minutes but was quite interesting and long enough for you to notice the barman beauty and, for him to lost his stereotypes on you.

You tried to make a move on him but your flirt attemp fail as you accidentaly spill your drink cause of your clumsiness.

Embarassed, thinking about how stupid you may have looked to him, Kawanishi wasn't reassuring as he was silently –but definitely mocking you.

Pretty weird girl he probably thought.

His introverted ass indicate you the toilet direction as he was cleaning your mess.

At your return, he allowed himself to smirk and joke about you're clumsiness with a lot of calm but playfully for sure : Your initial plan was to back home but after that ? You wont let him get away like this ! You're an easygoin person but... teased that much by a stranger ?

You two started to talk a lot more, with your friendly nature as a big help, you showed him somes of your tongue tricks and he teased you about the accident earlier and related that to the fact you're left-handed Goosh so much fuckboi vibes!! Then the two of you introduced and exchanged numbers before you had to leave.

Your conversation on socials medias and phone messages were pretty funny : Once he knew your fears for lizards this bastard started to send you pictures of them when you were a "nuisance". But one time, Tendou usurpated Taichi identity and outrageously flirt with you.

So you remind him at every occasion he thinks he has the advantage and even send the screenshots.

Beside that you didin't stop but luckily meet him in town.

Kawanishi then awkwardly invites you to comes to the bar again, there propose you to date without saying it like how it was supposed to sound.

You didn't hold back and obviously teased him, he fainted to be annoyed.

Since you two are not strangers anymore, you know a lot about each others and you talked about your sporty high school years.

Kawanishi thinks he's a better basket-ball player than you just because of his height, plz proove him wrong.

It ended in a chill street-basket match.

The loser had to pay for anything that can contains chocolate to the winner.

Obviously, Kawinishi would pay despite the result, wouldn't even be serious during the game, he walks, he's so soft when it comes to spend time with you besides all the teasing and stuff.
