Velma is canonically a lesbian in:
Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated, The live action Scooby Doo movie directed by James Gunn, and of course the new movie Trick or Treat Scooby Doo!
And yes, she did date Shaggy in mystery inc, but the creator revealed he never intended for that and tried to make their relationship feel weird on screen vs when Velma was with Marcy.
But she has also had ‘heterosexual’ relationships and crushes in other canons. There’s nothing wrong with that. If you consider her a lesbian suffering from comphet in all of these versions that’s fine. I think she is bi or even ace/aro in many of the Scooby Doo canons.
I disagree with my previous statement that I thought she was being misrepresented as lesbian when I thought she was bisexual, since Scooby Doo is a multiverse and she can be all of those things. But in the first 3 series/movies, she is 100% canonically a lesbian. Not bi, not ace, and definitely not straight. She is a lesbian!

James Gunn now has the power to make a live action "Scooby-Doo meets Batman", featuring a lesbian Velma, like he had wanted in the live action Scooby-Doo movies that he himself directed.

💖 Velma and Daphne 💖
I’ve heard two takes on what is happening here that I love:
a) they are girlfriends who are solving crime together
or
b) Daphne is helping Velma pick out a girlfriend on a dating site
I love both answers so I guess decide for yourself 😘

Don't know if this has been done before but I'm gonna write a fanfic called Velma & Louise. Velma is sick of the gang treating her like crap so she's the one committing the crimes now instead of the one always solving them. She also meets someone called Louise. It's a smash hit. Watch this space.
