“Oh..” you murmured in less than a whisper. You were hidden behind a few rocks; you had come to meet Morax, the god of Liyue, but your dearest friend, Guizhong, was already there with him, and it looked like they were having a moment. You couldn’t help but want to listen in, because after all it was Morax who you had loved for most of your life.
You were a foreigner to Liyue; you came from Inazuma. But you weren’t any ordinary Inazuman. You were the third and youngest of the Raiden sisters, who ruled over Inazuma itself. No one other than the archons knew about your existence, because Ei and Makoto kept you a secret, protected. Although not many knew, there had indeed been a few attempts on the lives of the Raiden sisters, and this was what they wanted to protect you from.
After you had a few centuries of battle experience and training under your bag, you were allowed to explore the world. You were not tied down with the duties of ruling Inazuma. Naturally, you attracted the attention of the gods, each one of them remarking on how you inherited all the characteristic features of the Raidens.
Only the heavens above knew how you managed to become the best friend of one of the major gods, and that too Morax. But he was the reason you chose to settle down in Liyue. As time passed, your feelings for Morax, also called Zhongli by his friends, also grew more than platonic.
Now see, you knew Morax was something of a blockhead when it came to feelings. So you didn’t think much when Morax kept sending you mixed signals. You both were immortal gods after all, you had all the time in the world. You continued to hopelessly fool yourself, thinking that just perhaps, there was a chance of him loving you back.
Then came the goddess of Dust, Guizhong. A minor goddess she was, but a wonderful one. It didn’t take her too long to make her way into everyone’s hearts, including yours and Zhongli’s. While you both quickly grew into fast friends, there was just one thing that constantly irked you. Just one. It was the way she quickly grew so incredibly close to Zhongli.’
You knew that Guizhong fancied Zhongli; she confessed it to you yourself. You were forced to merely plaster a fake smile upon your face and laugh her words off.
That brought you to this day: watching Guizhong confess to Zhongli. And the amount of heartbreaking anguish when Zhongli accepted with a smile, pulling her in close, after having remained oblivious to all your advances over the decades…. It was just… You couldn’t handle it. It was too much.
You quietly sneaked away as soon as possible. And then.. And then came the coughs and the bloodstained petals. Being from Inazuma, you knew all about it of course. Hanahaki. Needless to say, you were horrified. Since that day, you somewhat avoided the duo on the pretext of the ongoing Archon War. It was here that you showed your true battle prowess as a Raiden. You alone decimated entire armies of the enemies, leaving not even ashes.
The war went on for months. You lost many allies in fighting to ensure that Makoto and Morax got seats in the Seven. Till sundown you fought without relent, showing that even a beauty can be dangerous. At night, you gave your fallen comrades the proper, respectful  farewell they deserved. By now, only the last few contenders for the heavenly thrones were left. The last opponent for Morax was the ocean god, Osial, in Guyun Stone Forest, and his followers. Recognising the serious threat he posed, you did agree to team up with Morax to eliminate him. The path for Morax to become an archon would then become clear. Through experience, you both knew that you two together were a formidable force.
The battle was a long and exhausting one. You both started at sunrise, and barely managed to subdue him by sundown, having understood that even with their combined power, they would not be able to kill Osial. You both went back to your makeshift camp, looking forward to just resting for the night. Thank the gods you had very few coughing fits during the battle.
And yet, the moment you stepped past the protected borders, you felt that familiar eerie chill that crept up your spine. The heavy silence that hung ominously, the one that meant something was dreadfully, terribly wrong. And you were right. You took in the scene. The five Yakshas of Liyue were present, and they seemed to be sealing some sort of hexagonal structure, which was suspended above a figure. And the figure…
Was Guizhong.
Any dislike you harboured towards the Goddess of Dust disappeared as you laid your eyes upon the figure that had been turned to stone. The first and utmost thought in your mind was that something was wrong with your second best friend. Evidently Morax had come to the same conclusion. He let out a strangled sound as you both ran towards what remained of Guizhong. As you both gingerly touched her as if she was made of glass instead of stone, you knew. It was clear- Guizhong was no more.
Despite your stormy emotions, it seemed you were capable of only letting out a few tears. Morax seemed to be physically incapable of crying, yet his emotions were plainly displayed on his face for all to see.
That night, you stayed with Morax, doing your best to comfort him, despite needing comfort yourself. Neither of you had any more tears to shed.
That night, Morax has emerged as one of the Seven with your help, but you both lost Guizhong along the way.
~◈~
2 millenia had passed since the Archon War, and it left its scars on everyone. However, you could be lying if you said that you didn’t feel relieved that Guizhong was out of the way. You also felt guilty for feeling like that. But it was rather funny, how you managed to survive with your hanahaki for 2000 years, while most died within a few months. You supposed the reason was that Morax, who now completely lived as the mortal Zhongli in the Harbor, was seriously the absolute master at giving out mixed signals. He often unknowingly did things that lovers did, giving you hope. Yet that hope gets squashed a few days later, and the cycle continues. In all honesty, the hanahaki wasn’t really a big problem, more like a chronic disease that you had come to accept as a part of your life.
You knew that while Zhongli had mostly recovered by now, he still irrationally blamed himself for Guizhong’s death. You often told him to move on, yet he never said anything. You could see how opposed he was to the idea though. That’s why it was a surprise when he invited you to his office in the funeral parlor right after you returned from Inazuma. You could see on his face that there was something that pleased him. He first enquired about your travels and stuff, then said, “[name], do you remember how you’ve always told me to move on?” “Oh yes. Have you been thinking about that?” “Indeed. Although Guizhong will always have a special place in my heart, I believe that I am now ready to mingle again. I realised recently… that I have feelings for someone new.”
You couldn’t deny the flutter of excitement you felt on hearing those words. Was this finally it? “That’s great Zhongli! Who is it?” “Do you know the Traveler, Lumine? It’s her. I met her a while back, when you were out on your travels. I love her so much.” He proceeded to tell you all about Lumine. He was lovestruck and you could see that. With every word he spoke, you felt your heart drop more into your stomach. You were doomed. Utterly doomed.
All this time, you’d just been deluding yourself, lying to yourself. He had never loved you, and he never would. You were struggling to keep your easy smile glued to your face as yet again, you felt something rise up your throat. You politely managed to excuse yourself, your voice coming out all scratchy and raw. Once you walked out of his cabin, you sprinted towards the confines of your home. By the time you locked yourself in, some petals had already escaped and blood was smeared across your palm.
You were hunched over the sink, which was already full of flowers and blood within a few minutes. It hurt. Everything did, both your body and your broken heart. You knew your impending death was near, because never had your hanahaki been this severe. You couldn’t undergo the surgery because Zhongli was a massive part of your life, and simply forgetting about him would raise a barrage of questions. Plus, you still loved Zhongli too much to forget about him, despite the fact that somewhere deep down, you always knew that he’d never love you back.
~◈~
Your time was very close. The past few days had been spent isolated into the confines of your home, claiming to be exhausted from your latest journey whenever someone came to visit. Funnily enough, today was the day when Zhongli’s former love, and your former best friend, Guizhong, had died. In short, her death anniversary. Seemed it would be yours too.
You usually avoided visiting Guizhong’s memorial and burial site, which was in an isolated cave near Liyue Harbour. However today you thought it was fitting for you to pay your respects to her for the last time. And so, you dragged yourself out in the early morning, before sunrise. You left before anyone could see you, before he could see you.
By the time you are at your destination, your condition has significantly worsened due to the physical strain. It’s all you can do to respectfully place the flowers beside her memorial and lean against the wall. You began to speak to no one in particular in a cracked voice. “Hey Gui…? I hope.. You are at.. Peace… Just know that… I’ve never… hated you.. You’ve always been my.. Best friend.”
“How lucky you were… to be loved by Zhongli.”
Your throat choked up, not because of emotion, but because of another bout of bloody flowers. Not wanting to die there because he would see you, you got yourself out and into another deserted cave just beside. Not the best, but you had no choice. You had merely left a few petals at the entrance of both caves and a faint trail of blood in between.
By now, you had fallen to the ground in searing agony as flower after bloodstained flower forced its way out of your raw throat. You were lying on a bed of the flowers you yourself had coughed out.
How long it had been, you did not know. Perhaps minutes, perhaps hours. You started coughing again, not a moment’s respite. Your life force was almost completely drained. Any moment now.. You would be free.
It was then that you heard a horrified voice ring through the silence. “[Name]!”
~◈~
Zhongli was up at sunrise. Despite his new love, his mood was somber- it was Guizhong’s death anniversary. He had every intention to continue visiting her memorial. As usual, he sought you out. There was a rare chance that if you were in the mood, you would accompany him to pay respects to Guizhong. Yet when he knocked at your door several times and received no response, he chose to leave you alone, despite being slightly worried. You usually did respond at the very least, but he was sure you were alright,
He stopped short in front of the cave which housed Guizhong’s memorial. There was a fresh bouquet of Glaze lilies. But who brought them here? Especially since this place was practically unheard of. He took a few quick steps forward and kneeled down to inspect the bouquet. His heart lurched.
Attached to the bouquet was a small note that said, ‘To my dearest best friend, Guizhong.’ There was no name, but he recognised the handwriting well enough. [name] had already been here. Without him? Was there a reason?
His eyes were drawn to something else too. Relatively new footprints in the soil. And blood.
Blood?
His heavy footsteps echoed in the cave as he quickly walked out, following the faint trail of footprints, blood and petals. They were leading him to a nearby cave. His heart rate accelerated as he heard heavy coughing.  And behold the sight that awaited him- an utterly pretty bed of flowers and petals stained in a blood red, and someone coughing while lying on it.
“[Name]!” He cried out, completely horrified.
You curled into yourself even more on hearing his voice. All you wanted was to die in peace, why did he have to make things more difficult? Why did he have to come here? The flowers started choking and constricting your throat on their way up, ever more unrelenting, fueled by the appearance of the one who caused them. It was so hard to breathe… Just a bit more…
You felt yourself being gently lifted into someone’s strong and warm embrace. You weakly met Zhongli’s eyes, which were full of panic. You’d only seen him lose his composure like this once before, his fear more than evident on his face. “[name]- I- What happened? Please, tell me! I- I can’t lose you too!” He exclaimed frantically, feeling your life ebb away second by second, with each cough that released blood and Glaze lilies.
Your throat constricted even more, making it excessively hard to breathe. You just wanted to rest, It was all you could do to force a few broken words from your raw throat.
“...Hana..haki…” That was all Zhongli needed to know to understand. His pupils dilated in fear even more. “Who.. Who is it who made you suffer this way?” Zhongli whispered, unable to take in your completely broken state. You didn’t respond for a few moments, feeling your eyelids shut. You forced them open, not wanting to leave him hanging. “Always.. Loved you.. Always will… Be happy.. For me.. Okay? That is my last wish.” You weakly tried to reach a hand towards Zhongli, who instantly grasped it tightly in hsi, and pressed it against his face, as the realisation hit him like a truck. “What..?” He whispered softly.
Your eyes started to droop again, and you gave in, feeling nothing but qa soft ringing in your ears as your senses dulled. “[name], no, please don’t leave me!” Zhongli cried out in panic, grief and anguish, seeing you slip away from him. You simply let a small smile rest on his face as you whispered, “Just.. sleeping.. Tired.” Unable to accept your fate, he whispered, “Sleep well then, my dearest.”
But you never lived to hear that.
Because then you moved no more.
Was fate trying to mock him with [name] dying in his arms, in front of him, on the same day as Guizhong’s death? You were always there for him, always there with him, until you weren’t. And never in his immortal life was Zhongli able to forgive himself for this, knowing that he was the reason you were dead.
mm yes now hows that huh? gonna disappear for a few days now haha tags and comments are very much appreciated!

As The Flower Petals Fall ✿
• Childe x Reader Angst | Hanahaki Disease
*・゚゚・*:.。..。.:*゚:*:✼✿✿✿✿✿✿✿✿✿✿✼:*゚:.。..。.:*・゚゚・*
Weeks, months.
One petal, two petals, three petals, four petals.
Drops of blood, tears,
Sobbing, coughing.
Everything hurt.
The pain of being in love, the harm that came with it. Unrequited, irreplaceable, irresistible.
Being unable to stop loving someone so much.
That's how it was, though.
[Name] had already fallen so deeply, there was no turning back. No matter how rough it was, or how heart broken they were, the love never went away.
A crush on this guy who was always so kind to them--someone who was always there for them, a person they were unable to let go. Friendship could never be enough. The roots were already deep down. It grew slowly, both in pain and size.
✿✿
[Name] couldn't stand it any longer--they needed to be loved, but the only way to do that was to confess.
They were absolutely terrified, the answer would determine everything--life or death.
✿✿
Approaching the man, they tapped on his shoulder. "Childe, I need to speak with you--it's really important." [Name] looked at him, their heart raced with anticipation and fear.
✿✿
"Of course, what do you need?" He questioned. His arms crossed each other. "I really like you, please, tell me how you feel in return!" Tears threatened to roll down [Name's] cheeks. What if their feelings weren't reciprocated? That would be the end of them, everything depended on this one moment.
✿✿
He sighed, "I'm sorry. You're a really good friend, but that's all I'm able to see you as. Please, don't take this to heart. All my feelings are for Lumine, she's just so beautiful, her charisma, how she holds herself, I love her. "
✿✿
That was it, this was the end. Something started hurting in the pit of [Name's] stomach. With tears streaming down their face, they ran to the bathrooms.
✿✿
They fell down to their knees, sputtering all over the ground--the bloody petals piled up. Breathing got harder. Even worse--they were alone now. Before [Name's] eyes completely closed, with every last bit of energy, they muttered: "I love you, please… Be happy."
✿✿
With that, their body went limp…

𝐝𝐥𝐦𝐥𝐮 (𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐦𝐲 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐥𝐝) . .
. . you have hanahaki, a severe case of shyness, and a crush on scaramouche, and scaramouche is an absolute jerk.
// tws ; blood ; gn reader ; hanahaki & modern au ; slight cursing
a/n: first time posting here yippee (pls be nice)
you sobbed, heaving up stupid yellow carnations while sitting on the cold, hard floor of the school bathroom.
you wretched up the damned flowers. they fell ungracefully into the toilet which sat in front of you.
your knees hurt from sitting on them for so long.
if only you could tell him how you felt. it would finally all be over, one way or another. maybe with your feelings being requited.
or maybe with you choking to death, the only thing with you while you die being the stupid fucking flowers.
you coughed again, pale yellow petals fluttering to the ground elegantly.
it was a stark contrast to how, just moments after that, you were coughing your lungs out, flowers flopping down into the toilet in large clumps; stuck together by mucus and blood.
you wheezed and wheezed and wheezed until it felt like there was nothing left in your lungs and your throat was burning and your knees were bruised.
you sobbed and sobbed and sobbed until there were no more tears left.
you coughed and coughed and coughed to the point you thought maybe just dying would be better than this fucking hell.
you curled into a ball, crying. crystalline tears ran down your cheeks, falling onto your clothes, the ground, anything.
if only you could fucking talk. why were you like this? why were you fine with your friends, but so terrified to talk to anyone? to everyone?
to him?
maybe, just maybe, if you were different you wouldn’t be in this situation.
if only you weren’t so pathetic, so stupid, so scared.
you hated yourself. you hated yourself so, so much. who the fuck was this terrified to talk to people, but opened up so easily once others talked to them?
maybe you should just confess and get it all over with.
you opted to just give him a letter anonymously.
who knew if he would even read it? he received dozens of confessions everyday.
even if he did read it, it couldn’t be that bad, right?
if you could, you would eat up your words.
it was much, much worse than you thought.
he had ripped open the envelope, immediately reading the letter with a scowl.
he wasn’t even halfway through when he burst out laughing.
”what the fuck is this?” he snickered, holding onto his locker so he wouldn’t fall from how hard he was laughing.
”what pathetic fucking weirdo confesses from an anonymous letter? are they too terrified to say it to my fuckin’ face?”
he continued reading the letter.
when he was done, he crumpled it up and threw it away behind him, still laughing.
”that’s so goddamn stupid.”
unfortunately, the crumpled up letter hit you on your head.
not embarrassing, right?
well, it wasn’t until scaramouche saw it had hit you.
”oh, sorry,” he exclaimed in a voice dripping with mock sweetness.
”didn’t see you there.”
it would’ve been fine until his next comment, which you unfortunately overheard.
”these dumb fucking bitches. they’re so stupid, can’t even move out of the way. what are they, blind?” he muttered under his breath, tone condescending.
you burst into tears right then and there, unable to stop the overflow of emotions.
you walked away as quick as you could, wanting to kill yourself right there.
”so emotional, and over what?”
his laugh rang down the hallway, following and taunting you.
you don’t know what had come over you that day. before that you had always tried to keep your emotions in check, always tried to stop the tears from coming out in front of people you didn't know.
maybe hearing your crush degrade and insult you had just struck a chord or something.
weak coughs wracked your frail body, using up the little energy you had left.
you were on your death bed (quite literally! you were laying on your bed while dying).
honey yellow flowers surrounded you, their sickly sweet scent making you feel nauseous.
you choked up another batch of the flaxen flowers, watching them flop forward onto your bed sheets, staining them a dull crimson because of the blood on them.
with half lidded eyes, you stared at the carnations. your mind was hazy, and your vision blurred.
if you recalled correctly, they symbolized disdain and rejection.
how fitting.

SONG: Secret Garden ― Empath-P
Tumblr media
YOU OBSERVED WITH DEFEATED EYES as Tighnari, yet again, swaddled your hands in gauze. You tried to take out a Withering Zone by yourself, wanting to help clear his schedule. However, despite having a vision of your own, you weren’t very familiar with the process and ended up getting hurt, much to the forest ranger’s dismay.
Your throat ran dry as you struggled to find the right words to say without upsetting him more. It was clear he was about to snap at any moment, so you chose to stay silent, despite your anxiety eating away at the stillness.
“(NAME) for the last time, stop biting off more than you can chew,” the fox-eared boy berated, his gaze as bitter as the medicine he brews. “What was the point in bothering with something you clearly had no idea how to deal with? were you begging for a death wish?”
You swallowed thickly, your stomach churning as he awaited your response. “My only intention was to take some of the burdens off your shoulders. . .” You answered feebly.
With an exasperated sigh, he rubbed his temples in frustration. “So you wanted to help me and ended up doing the exact opposite? Yeah, that sounds about right.
“(NAME) this is what? The fifth time you’ve gotten yourself hurt trying to ‘help?’ Don’t you realize you’re only making things harder for the both of us?” Tighnari crossed his arms against his chest, growing more impatient with you by the minute. “Achons, we’re going to run out of medical supplies if you keep getting into situations like these. Can’t you learn to take a hint?”
The harsh tone of his voice engulfed you in shame, his words ripping your heart into shreds. “I—I just—” your attempt to defend yourself was met with the burning stare of his multicolored eyes.
He chastised, “save it, (NAME). You give me the same exact excuse every. single. time. Taking care of you like this again is already a migraine as it is.” With that, he packed the medical supplies into his backpack, not sparing you another glance.
Tighnari criticizing and reminding you how all you do is pull everyone down had become routine by this point. He never told you directly that burdened everyone, yet he clearly didn’t care about hurting your feelings, so you never understood why he didn’t just give it to you straight.
He never acted so rashly to the other trainees, so it led you to believe that it was personal. That said, you don’t know what you did to make him hate you so much. And to add salt to the wound, you admired Tighnari a lot. Hidden beneath his sarcastic nature, he was diligent and dedicated to his work. You could tell he cared for everyone within the confines of the forest, although you highly doubted that to be your case.
As you carefully observed him, you not-so-surprisingly developed feelings for him. You find it hard to believe now, but he treated you gently when you first met him. That memory felt so foreign after all he did was suffocate you with his accusations. Since then, you shoveled your feelings into the very back of your mind.
“Are you even listening, (NAME)?” badgered Tighnari, snapping you out of your depressive reverie.
Nodding slowly, you chewed the inside of your cheek, feeling your emotions consume you from the inside out. “Y—Yes, of course, Master. . .”
“Really? Because ever since I got here, you’ve done nothing but stare at the ground helplessly.” He shook his head and sighed in defeat, “whatever. It’s not like you ever heed my advice anyways.
“Collei and I are going to be gone for a few days on an expedition. You are not to leave Gandhara Ville until I return. Do I make myself clear?” he said, his large ears flicking in aggravation.
That immediately grabbed your attention as your eyes shot open. You deflected, “I—I’m sorry?! Tighnari, I get that you’re mad at me and all, but I am not a child! I don’t need supervision!” Your face burned hot with humiliation as tears formed in your eyes.
Tighnari’s eyes softened briefly at your defeated expression before returning to their normal venomous state. “Then quit giving me a reason to treat you like one, (NAME). Now, I’ll be taking my leave.” Before you could answer, he left your room, leaving you alone in your misery.
After a few minutes of silence, Collei wandered in, her gaze saddening as she regarded your trembling figure. “Oh, (NAME). . .” She lamented and sat next to you, gingerly wrapping her arms around you. “I’m—I’m sorry. . . I don’t know why he’s been treating you so horribly lately; he’s usually never like this. . .” Muttered the girl as she rubbed circles on your back. “I’ll talk to him, o-okay? Please don’t cry. . .”
Withdrawing from your friend’s hold, you rubbed away your tears with a forced smile in hopes of comforting her. “Don’t worry about me, Collei. I’ll—I’ll be alright,” you soothed, your weakened voice revealing the truth behind your words.
Tighnari peeked his head over the opening, swallowing thickly when he noticed your tear-stained cheeks. “Collei, come with me, would you? I need to have a word with you.” He dictated, averting his regard away from you.
The girl perked up, “y—yes, Master!” She stood up and turned to you, carefully bringing your head to her chest once more. “I’ll figure something out, okay? D—Don’t worry,” she assured before bidding you goodbye and following Tighnari out.
After the two left your line of sight, your throat and chest tightened. Scrambling into the bathroom, you stumbled over, suddenly coughing violently. You wiped the sweat from your temple, sighing in relief when it ceased. “What caused that I wonder?” You questioned and fluttered open your eyes. While staring downward at what appeared to be lotus petals, you suddenly felt overwhelming dizzy. Had it gotten that bad?
Your hands clutched your chest as bile burned your esophagus. You weakly shoved yourself up and flushed the toilet. You knew that hanahaki was life-threatening if not treated immediately. However, confessing seemed impossible given the circumstances of your relationship and who you’re in love with. Your other option was to have it surgically removed, but that also meant removing your capability to feel emotions. Nevertheless, you wanted to be a forest ranger like Tighnari and help people, so you’d much rather die of the flower that bloomed in your chest than be an empty husk and not feel anything.
Laying on your bed, you watched Tighnari and Collei converse—probably about your probation if you were to be completely honest. You let out a meek laugh and closed your eyes, allowing your body and mind some well-deserved rest.
“Maybe if this disease takes me, I won’t burden him anymore. . .”
Tumblr media
The following morning was horrible. Following your wake-up, you had to race to the bathroom to throw up again; your lungs and chest burned from how fierce the fits were. Making matters worse, you got far from enough sleep because of the feeling of lotuses climbing your throat.
“(NAME)? It’s Collei! I just wanted to check on you before Master and I head out!”
Your eyes flew open at your friend’s voice. Shit. She wouldn’t take this well at all. Quickly flushing the toilet, you grabbed a towel and patted your face dry, hoping your tiredness wasn’t evident.
“(NAME)? Are—are you alright?” She worried and walked into your bedroom. Her expression dimmed upon taking in your condition. “You look so tired! Did you not get enough sleep?” Fuck.
You compelled a weak smile, “I—I’m fine! Don’t worry about me, I’m just a little—” Your sentence stopped midway as you covered your mouth, hacking up more bloodied petals. Your hanahaki did not seem to appreciate you lying about your feelings for the sake of others.
Collei paled immensely, her hand going to mimic your own. “(NAME). . . You—you’re. . .” Tears welled in her rose-colored eyes as she watched you recover. “We have to tell—”
“NO!” you interjected sharply. Sighing, you let out a quiet apology. “I—I’m sorry. . . I didn’t mean to yell like that. I just. . . please don’t tell Tighnari.” You muttered, voice enfeebled from your lack of sleep.
“B—But, (NAME). . . If y-you don’t get help. . .”
“I know. But I don’t think I can take any more of his disdains. especially when he’s—” You, or rather the hanahaki, cut you off as more petals emerged from your throat and onto your shaking hands.
Seeing the connection, her eyes softened. She lamented, “oh, (NAME). . . You like him, don’t you?” Her arms circled around you, “please, I—I don’t want to lose you. I promise I’ll talk him into apologizing! You don’t deserve this. . .”
Shaking your head, you gently patted the girl’s hair, her heartfelt words shattering your heart furthermore. “Collei, I—I’m not sure I can promise anything at this rate. . .” You imparted. “I’m not sure if Tighnari is someone you can reason with, as well. . .”
“Collei? It’s time to go,” Tighnari announced from outside. Speak of the devil, and he shall appear. . .
The green-haired girl pulled away from you, looking at your (COLOR) eyes with her own pleading ones. “Everything will be alright, okay? I promise. . .” She sniffled.
You nodded despite your views contradicting hers. Watching her leave, your gaze, hopeless and cold, flickered to Tighnari. You couldn’t help but wonder what occupied his mind; has he even thought of you and how you felt once? Probably not.
The fox-eared ranger caught a glimpse of your eyes and shivered; that’s right, shivered. The way they looked so dull put a pit in his stomach, and he couldn’t tell why at the time. He looked at his student curiously, “what were you two talking about?”
Collei sighed, “i-it was nothing, Master. . .”
Tumblr media
The realization that you didn’t have much time left dawned on you as you gazed in the mirror. Your once bright and lively eyes were now dulled and impassive, almost as if you’d already gotten the surgery. You heeded Tighnari’s words, staying locked inside your hut and not bothering anybody. After all, that’s what he wanted, right?
Your condition worsened faster than you initially hoped. Every day and night, you retched at least five blood-covered lotuses, leaving you more weakened than the last. You couldn’t even estimate how much blood you had lost by now. With each passing second, your life slipped from your fingers like grains of sand. It seemed to tease you with the thought of death, never actually finishing you off—until now. In most cases, people have at least a few weeks to make the choice; you, unfortunately, did not with how fast your feelings developed.
Reaching up, you wiped the blood from your lips, leaving a metallic taste in your mouth. Normally you would be grossed out by it, but it was almost comforting by now because it signaled you didn’t have to endure this pain much longer.
You staggered to your desk and pulled out a few things: an envelope, a piece of paper, and a quill. Your fingers trembled as you dipped the feather in ink and scrawled the name ‘Tighnari’ on the envelope. He’d admonish you for the handwriting, but when you’re on death’s doorstep, you can’t really expect perfect writing, can you?
With an unstable breath, you began composing the letter with all the energy you could gather.
“Dear, Master Tighnari. . .”
Tighnari took a deep breath as the faint outline of Gandhara Ville came into his field of vision. Ever since had and Collei finished the expedition, this dreadful feeling like something horrible happened stuck to him like a leech. And no matter what he did, it continued to suck the energy out of him. In retrospect, he’s had this feeling since he left. Worse part about it? He couldn’t figure out why; it’s like he could sense an anomaly but couldn’t see it.
Collei quickly picked on her teacher’s anxiety and flashed a smile, hoping to comfort him. “M—Master, I’m sure everything will be fine! You know how nice (NAME) is! I’m—I’m sure they’ll forgive you! they’re normally so sweet no matter the circumstances!” She encouraged, though, deep within her mind, she was scared herself. She knew how much his words impacted you.
Tighnari dragged out a sigh, his fingers going through his dark hair. “That’s. . . That’s the problem, Collei. I. . . I treated them so fucking awful, and all they did was sit there and take it they didn’t dare speak up,” he seethed, wincing as he recalled the look in your eyes before they departed. “Archons, who knows if they’ll find it in their heart to even forgive me? I treated them like a toddler when I really meant to protect them. God, my delivery was fucking horrid, wasn’t it? I really messed this up.” He looked at Collei with defeated eyes, “That’s what you were talking to them about, wasn’t it? How vile I treated them. That’s why they were crying the other day.”
The trainee harshly bit her lip, knowing that’s exactly what happened. She knew that he treated you like a weed in a garden full of lotuses when in reality, you were the flowers themself. And now, with your hanahaki, Celestia knows how much pain you must be in—both physically and emotionally.
Only then did she remember that you had gotten hanahaki the day they left, and her heart sank. She swallowed hard, feeling her heart weigh heavy in her chest as it pounded against her ribcage. “Um, M—Master Tighnari. . .” she quavered.
He glanced her way, the pit in his stomach swallowing him whole when he regarded how horrified she appeared to be.  “Hm? What’s the matter, Collei?” Inquired the boy, his ears flickering in nervous anticipation. Oh god, did something actually happen to you?
“I—I normally wouldn’t ask of you something like this, but please, when we get back, g-go check on them? They’re. . . they’re not well. . . ” She uttered aside, her voice wobbling as if she was on the brink of tears.
Her words confirmed Tighnari’s initial thoughts; there was something wrong. “Collei. . . what happened?” he spoke curtly. Hearing no answer, his chest tightened, and he could hear his breathing pick up. “Collei. Tell me now. I need to know if they’re in danger.” His voice rattled as he communicated, his anxiety clawing at his every thought.
Collei’s shoulders shook with small sobs, “(NAME). . . They—they have Hanahaki. They didn’t want me to tell you because t-they hic knew you’d yell at them in some sort of way. . . A-and they’ve had it for a few days now and—”
“—Collei, I need you to be honest with me. Does (NAME) have romantic feelings for me?”
Glancing up at her teacher with a pitiful expression, she wiped her eyes with her sleeves. “Yes, Master, t—they do. . . I believe they have for a while,” she sniveled.
“Fuck.” He muttered and sprinted towards the ville, leaving poor Collei behind. However, at that time, I don’t think she minded; she recognized that he needed to find you as soon as possible—to save you.
Pushing past everyone in the village, he shoved himself inside your hut. “(N-NAME)?! Are—are you here? We—we need to talk!” He called out, his voice breaking from breathing so heavily. “(NAME). . .?”
……
“Shit, shit! (NAME), where—where did you go now. . .” fretted Tighnari, his mind racing with every outcome possible. His eyes caught onto a wax-sealed envelope that sat neatly on your dresser. He picked it up and felt an overwhelming sense of dread wash over him as he stared at it. “It’s addressed to me. . .”
“ Dear Master Tighnari,
As much as it hurts to me say this, but by the time you’ve finished reading this, I’ll have passed away. I don’t quite know what to put in this letter. . . Even as I’m writing this, my mind is blanking. I feel like there’s so much I have to say, but unfortunately, I don’t have much time before this disease takes its final toll on me.
I’m sure Collei’s told you by now of my hanahaki. I don’t blame her; the poor girl looked like she would pass out when she found me puking flowers. I know what you’re thinking, “(NAME), you lummox. So you’d rather just sit and watch yourself die than confess?” Well, Tighnari, would YOU confess to someone who’s admitted you’re nothing but a thorn in their side? If you haven’t figured it out by now, it’s you who I’m in love with. Have been for a while now.
I must apologize for plaguing both you and everyone in Gandhara Ville. That was never my intention; I only wanted to repay the kindness everyone gave me, no matter if it cost my life or not. But, unfortunately, as you said, I ended up doing the entire opposite. And for that, I sincerely apologize. I wish I could take it all back.
I hope you know that despite everything, I don’t harbor any negative feelings toward you. And maybe, in a different reality, things wouldn’t have turned out like this.
Did you know that I’ve admired you from day one? And I’ll continue to do so in the afterlife. You’re genuinely incredible in my eyes; you’re diligent and passionate, everything I wished I was. You’re incredibly dedicated to the forest, which is admirable. And I supposed that’s why I fell so incredibly hard for you. Maybe you knew I loved you; maybe you didn’t. It’s all meaningless now that I lay on my deathbed made out of my own flowers. It’s strangely comforting, even though I’ve lived far from a fulfilling life.
I honestly didn’t think my feelings had gotten this bad; I thought I had successfully pushed them away for the greater good. But, with how fast the hanahaki materialized, it seems I unestimated myself. That proves just how much I truly adored you. Never doubt your capabilities, alright? You’re truly unique, Tighnari.
This is where we part, my dear fox friend. My strength is running out, and so is the ink. Once more, I’m truly sorry for all the pain I’ve caused; I hope you can find it in you to forgive me. Please take care of Collei for me? Tell her I’m sorry I couldn’t make it; Celestia knows I tried to push through for her.
I love you, Tighnari. My love will continue to bloom for you in the form of lotus flowers. So, whenever you see one, I hope you think of me and how much I admired you. (:
Yours Truly, (NAME). ”
The words blurred together as tears muddied Tighnari’s vision. Every written word cut deeper and deeper, but he forced himself to read it all. At first, he thought it was staged or a joke of some sort, and a part of him wished it was, but he could recognize your handwriting from a mile away. “No, no. . . this cannot be happening. . . They can’t be—” he thought to himself as he pocketed the note. He seethed, “FUCK! Where could they have gone?!” He pulled his hair stressfully as he wracked his brain for answers.
“My love will continue to bloom for you in the form of lotus flowers.”
His eyes snapped open when it clicked—the river not too far from here was known for the lotuses that bloomed in it. You couldn’t have gone far either, not in your condition, at least.
Tighnari hurriedly sped out of the ville, ignoring everyone’s worried stares. “Please don’t be too late please be alive.” He prayed silently. He halted and surveyed the familiar spot, spotting a figure lying near the river’s shallows. he uttered, “(N—NAME). . .?”
Stumbling over, his pretty eyes drowned in tears the second he laid eyes on you. You were sprawled out, bloodied flowers sticking to your lifeless body. Blood smeared on your lips and fingers, and thank the Archons, your eyes were closed, or else Tighnari would’ve gone into cardiac arrest from crying so hard.
He collapsed at your side, cradling your face in his hands; the warmth of his palms contrasted with the chill of your skin. Shaking his head in denial, he thumbed at your face hoping to find some kind of reaction that proved you were still alive. “No, no, NO! Come on, (NAME)! W—wake up! You c-can’t. . .” He hiccuped.
Tighnari gathered you in his arms, concealing his face in the crook of your neck to hide how hard he sobbed. “I. . . I’m so sorry, flower. T—This is all my fault. . . I-If I would’ve just told you how I felt instead of being a moron, then none of this would’ve happened—you wouldn’t have. . .” A sob strangled his throat and cut off his words.
“I—I thought I was protecting you from yourself. . . B-but I somehow did the exact opposite. I was the cause of your pain, and because of how shitty I treated you, you feared telling me how you felt. I. . . I’m so sorry, (NAME). Y-you didn’t deserve to go through so much pain alone.”
“Master, I heard—o-oh my god.”
Collei’s eyes rounded in horror, her figure starting to tremble as the situation settled in her head. “(N-NAME). . .” she croaked and dropped next to Tighnari, her hands shakily finding yours. Like her mentor, she was quick to shake her head in denial. “N—no. . . They can’t be. . . How—how did it—” bewailed the girl as her hand squeezed your fragile one. She turned to Tighnari, who looked to be on the verge of passing out from crying so hard. “M—Master, they’re. . . they’re not, r-right? They can’t be. . .”
The ranger shakily pulled out the letter and handed it to her, watching as the girl sobbed harder at its contents. “T—They found comfort in their death because of how much pain they were in. . .” He murmured weakly. As he pressed a kiss to your hair, he noticed that your fingers grasped something.
Tighnari gingerly grabbed your hand and unraveled your fingers from what you held. A singular clean lotus. He smiled, weak and faint, plucking the lotus from your grip and tucking it in his hair—a memento of your love for him and his love for you.
“My love for you will continue to blossom in life and in death. . . N—no matter where you are, you will be the first and last my heart is occupied with. There’s no room left for anyone else, flower. . . There never was in the beginning.
“I will look at each and every flower and think of how selfless and caring you were. Your love and dedication will continue to burn bright in Gandhara Ville. I will make sure of it. . .”

Flowery tea - Wriothesley
Gender neutral reader, hanahaki fic because I'm a sucker for those. Readers basically from Liyue, but has started working alongside Wriothesley in terms of monitoring finances. Unhappy ending here.
--
"Sir, would you like some tea?" You ask him, knowing full well he will respond positively.
"Of course. Any time is a good time for tea." Wriothesley chuckles, sending your heart racing.
Truth be told, you had been visiting Liyue more often to get the latest types of tea, in the hopes of gifting them to your boss. As embarrassing as it was, you gushed to Zhongli - someone you got to be friends with - about Wriothesley. How he talked, how he treated those around him, the general attraction you felt for him. Zhongli teased you about travelling to Liyue to treat Wriothesley, but understanding Wriothesley was important to you.
"Wow, this tea has an...interesting taste." Wriothesley hums, taking another sip before continuing. "The aftertaste is nice, but the initial taste is strong."
"A friend of mine in Liyue recommended it." You explain, rubbing the back of your head.
Before Wriothesley responds, Chlorinde walks in.
"Oh, Chlorinde! Perfect timing, you have got to try this!" Wriothesley suddenly has a burst of energy, resembling a husky when talking to her. "C'mon, try it for me!"
"... I'm here for work." Chlorinde sighs. "...but I'll do it for you."
"Aww, thank you! I love you!" Wriothesley teases, Chlorinde wincing at his responses.
You, however, feel poorly after hearing that. Specifically, you feel like something is growing in your lungs. You go to excuse yourself, only to see the full in front of you animatedly talking. Not wanting to inconvenience them, you head to the head nurse for a check up.
"I can sense an anomaly in your chest, dear one! Unfortunately, this is a foreign item, and I don't understand how it's gotten there." Sigewinne states. "I'm sorry, but I haven't seen anything like this."
"It's alright, thank you for checking this for me." You smile, the feeling in your chest feeling worse by the second. Hunching over in pain, you startle Sigewinne before passing out.
--
You were not waking up.
That worried Wriothesley, so he decides to contact your friend to request he comes to see you before you, possibly, die.
Surprisingly, Zhongli showed up a few days later with the invitation letter in hand. Upon arrival, he was escorted to where you were, the head nurse explaining your condition.
"A foreign item, you say?" Zhongli hums out. "And there was a sign of growth? Did you perhaps sense some sort of...flora energy?"
"Yes! How did you know?" Sigewinne gasps, Zhongli closing his eyes in thought.
"This is a case of Hanahaki disease. My friend has feelings for someone, and they must have realised they do not return the sentiment."
"Oh...that is such a cruel condition."
"There is a cure. At this point, there is only one form of treatment that will help." Zhongli explains. "This will lead to the love in question being not only forgotten, but the chance of love being formed with them as well."
"Well what are we waiting for? Let's do it!" Sigewinne jumps, Zhongli opting to do this.
He would have a word with Wriothesley once the surgery is complete. For now, his top priority was removing the foreign item in your lungs. Your life was more important than your boss's opinion in his eyes.
--
"Come again?" Wriothesley tilts his head, taken back by Zhonglis words. What did he mean, '_ will not remember you'.
"The condition was caused by you. I know feelings cannot be helped, and you cannot be forced to reciprocate, however this surgery will lead to them forgetting everything about you." Zhongli explains calmly. "In addition to this, they will no longer be able to form a romantic bond with you."
"But they'll be alive and well?" Wriothesley asks, Zhongli nodding. "Then that is fine. It is unfortunate that I don't think of them that way."
"Thank you for understanding." Zhongli smiles, before getting up to leave.
"Hold on." Wriothesley stops Zhongli, getting up. "would you like a cup of tea?"
--
In the months of working with Wriothesley after the surgery, you couldn't help but feel out of place.
Wriothesley seemed disappointed that you forgot everything about him - including the fact he was your boss. Even after the clearing up of misinformation, you still didn't act friendly with him. You no longer had a personal relationship with him, keeping things professional.
During an argument you initiated after Wriothesley had yet again asked you to relax around him, he said something he regretted after you left his office.
"If I knew I was going to lose you because of feelings, I would have pretended to love you." Wriothesley grunts, your eyes widening in shock at the statement.
"So I was just a form of tea collection for you, huh? Fine, I quit." You storm out, Wriothesley calling for you to come back so you could get past the past. Unfortunately, he was the one who needed to move on.
You already had.

✧ crimson-stained padisarah ✧
pairing -  al-haitham x f!reader
content notes - hanahaki, childhood friends to lovers???, angst, but, happy ending?, slight mention of death, mutual pining, terrible punctuations and all cause i did this sleep-deprived.
a/n - good luck to everyone pulling for al-haitham~  also, i will add some short brainrots for this piece when i have the time
Tumblr media
“Haitham,” a female voice from across the room called out to the acting grand sage, who merely responded with a soft hum.
If it had been anyone else who had dared to interrupt al-Haitham’s personal reading time, he would have just ignore them but, the person who had just called him knew that she wouldn’t be ignored.
“What are we?”
Silence filled the air as y/n observed the grey-haired male, anticipating his next actions.
“Ha-”
“Close friends, who have known each other since we were children.”
y/n’s gaze softened at the gentle tone with which he answered her with, something that she knew not everyone had the luxury of experiencing. Yet, at the same time, something inside her ached when she felt something bloomed. Ignoring the growing ache, she put up a fake smile, “Well, aren’t I lucky? To be considered the acting grand sage’s close friend.”
At the sound of a book being closed, y/n silently congratulated herself, knowing she had finally grabbed her childhood friend’s full attention.
Piercing turquoise eyes met hers, studying her features and body language.
“Y/n, where is this coming from?”
She broke the eye contact, choosing to divert her attention to a stack of books on a table next to her. “It’s nothing,” she stated. her fingers tracing the pattern of a flower on the book cover. A floral-themed novel. “I was just reminiscing about us. We have grown and changed so much. Little al-haitham all grown up."
“y/n.” her name was spoken in a warning tone, yet she knew there was no threat to it.
“I’m leaving for Liyue tomorrow,” the female announced abruptly, surprising both herself and al-haitham.
“What?” there was a frown on his face as he stood up from where he was reading previously. With each step he took towards where she was standing, he demanded explanation to her sudden statement, “Why are you going to Liyue? Y/n. Why am i only learning about this now?”
“There’s a doctor in Liyue, who seem to know about the hanahaki disease,” y/n explained, her voice soft, her gaze never leaving the books littered across the table — each book pertaining to the topic of flowers. “I’ll be going there with the girl to see what I can learn about it.”
The female inhaled sharply when muscular arms caged her to the desk, leaving no way for her to escape.
“Why are you going to such lengths for that girl?” he questioned as a slender finger lifted her chin to look at him — her eyes appeared tired, and she had eyebags, he noted. “It’s merely just a rumour. There was no documentation or information about that illness. It’s all in her head.”
Despite her breathing becoming more rapid, she continued, “you know very well the condition of the brains affect the well being of a person even if society assumes the illness stems from psychological factors and isn’t cause by any physical factors.”
“This is why i did not want to tell you.”  her e/c hues narrowed as she muttered, and she turned her head away from him, catching al-haitham off guard.
“And, no. It’s not simply a rumour. It does exist,” she exhaled sharply, her chest heaving as she struggled to push back the cough that threatened to arise. “I’ve seen it with my own eyes.”
The word ‘seen’ was truly an understatement. Seeming as she herself was a victim to hanahaki since a few weeks ago when she was unfortunate enough to witness al-haitham on a date with a certain dancer from Zubayr theater.
When she remembered the sight she had encountered, she had to fight back the petals she felt creeping up her throat.
“Are you done?” the casual tone in his question only made things worse for her.
Tears welled up in her eyes, she was starting to lose energy from resisting the florals in the back of her throat.
“Yes…” she breathed out as she pushed past the arms encircling her. Y/n fled from the room, but not before a cough escaped her — leaving a crimson-stained purple petal and a surprised al-haitham.
Tears that she had been fighting back fell at the sight of those blood-soaked blooming padisarahs that she had just coughed out in the sink. The uncontrollable coughing fit in addition to the sobs she was eliciting was torturous. It was excruciatingly painful, both physically and mentally.
“Y/n, what—”
Panicked eyes shot up towards the mirror, which reflected the look of terror in al-haitham’s face, the petal she had abandoned in the room slipping from his fingers.
The evidence lying around the female staring back at him was enough to answer his unsaid questions — the blood at the corner of her mouth, more blood around the sink and the bloodied full-bloom padisarahs.
It was then the realization hits him; how she appeared more exhausted recently, how at times her voice cracked or how her smiles felt forced and at times, felt sorrowful. The books she had been reading. It all made sense now.
“Y/n, you have hanahaki…?”
Wiping the blood away from the corner of her mouth, she averted her eyes from his and scoffed, ”so what? it’s just all in my he-” she was cut off as a coughing episode worse than the previous started.
Turquoise orbs widened as more blood, flowers and tears poured into the sink, some escaping and falling onto the floor.
“Who…?” he murmured.
“Do u even - have u even lo- like anyone before?” her hands gripped the sink — her knuckles turning pale white as she gasped for air,  “Do you even know what it feels like to see the one you love with someone else? wishing that it was you their smiles are directed at?”
“y/n…please tell me. who is it?!” al-haitham pleaded, his heart aching at the scene that was unfolding in front of him. Perhaps bringing her to the one she has feelings for will save her, even if something inside him ached at that thought.
The female shook her head as another bloom fell from her lips along with her words, “it hurts so much. my throat. my lungs. my heart. and yet, I can’t bring myself to go through the surgery.”
“i cant bring myself to give up. all the memories. my feelings,” y/n whispered, her voice barely audible and her vision starting to darkened.
“i can’t bear the thought of forgetting you.” she breathed out before her grip on the basin loosened and her body went limp.
Despite being in shock at the sudden confession, al-haitham managed to catch her before she hit the ground.
The gray-haired male remained on the ground, holding y/n’s body in his arms. Even after confirming that she was still breathing and had stabilized for the moment, his heart was still racing as he tried to process all that had occurred.
The revelation that she was willing to die to the hanahaki disease than lose her memories and feelings for him broke him, a pained expression forming on his features as he recalled the pain she was in minutes earlier.
After brushing away a strand of her hair from her face, he carried the female's unconscious body in his arms and exited the bloodied scene.
E/c eyes opened, albeit tiredly as she felt herself being lifted and moved.
“im sorry. to get blood on you...” y/n whispered, her voice hoarse as she gazed at him with tired eyes.
“don’t speak. you’ll only hurt your throat. rest. please…”
Leaning against his chest, y/n once again closed her eyes. She could feel the rhythm of al-haitham's unsteady heartbeat. It was rare to see his usual calm demeanour crack, even as someone who had known him the longest.
Was she perhaps special to him that he was willing to show this vulnerable side to? Or, was she just being hopeful?
“To answer your question, yes.” he whispered.
“Wh-what?!” Y/n’s eyes shot wide open, but she started having another coughing episode from the outburst. After she calmed down, she could only stare at the gray-haired male as he continued while still looking ahead.
If it’s one thing y/n hated about al-haitham, it was his ability to mask his emotions perfectly. Even having known him since young, it was always difficult to know what was on his mind.
“I know how it feels to possess this feeling you call love. i would say I know this feeling quite well, if I have to be honest with you.”
He stopped in his tracks when he saw the frown on her face.
“please, let me finish what i have to say before jumping to conclusions,” he said, taking a long breath before continuing, his voice slightly breaking, “I hate this side of you so much. how much of yourself have you destroyed because of your tendency to jump to conclusions? “
“i won’t say i have ever felt the pain of seeing the person i love being with someone else but, i do know the pain of seeing the person i’m in love with being in pain yet, being unable to do anything. i swore to protect you and yet, i couldn’t even see that all this time, you have been hurting so much on your own.”
Y/n's frown was replaced with that of surprise at that admission. Her vision became blurry as tears pooled at the corner of her eyes.
Something in her felt lighter.
“i…i was afraid. That i would ruin our friendship…that you would start avoiding me…i couldnt bear the thought of never seeing you again. so, i thought it would be fine if i stayed by you as a close friend.”
Upon entering his room, al-haitham laid her down on the bed and held her hand in his. With a sigh, he rested his forehead on their linked hands, his hand trembling slightly.
He took a brief pause before releasing a shaky breath.
“how naive am i. because of my cowardice, i had almost…lost you in the worst way possible.”
“i truly apologise yn. had i not been so blind…” his voice broke as his grip on her hands tightened.
The feeling of dampness on her hand caused a new wave of tears to fall from her eyes.
“if i had left you alone then. if i had not chased after you. i could have lost you forever. and our last conversation would be of us arguing.”
y/n shook her head frantically, “no.nonono!! please, haitham!! it's not your fault!” she cried out as she tackle hugged him, catching him off guard. His arms instinctively wrapped around her waist to keep them from falling onto the ground.
“i was afraid as well! you’re so perfect. so intelligent and capable. have you seen yourself when you fight? the way you wield those swords? how could i ever compare to you? surely there’s no way you would like me romantically. and then, i saw you and nilou. you guys just looked so go-”
a slender finger was placed on her lips, stopping her mid-sentence.
“As much as i enjoy listening to you fawning over me. I have to stop you there. how did nilou even get into this equation?”
“Didn’t you went out on a date with her at the bazaar? You were smiling back then as well…?”
“That…” al-haitham’s hesitation made y/n fixed her gaze on him, a frown once again making their way on to her features.
With a soft flick to her forehead, he scolded, “stop that.” al-haitham contemplated for a moment before sighing in defeat, “ok. fine. i was just asking her for advice.”
Y/n was just staring at him in disbelief. “You?? Asking for advice???”
“i was contemplating if i would be satisfied just remaining as close friends. and, she happened to be there. she asked me some questions and it gave me the answer i needed. that’s all. there’s nothing between us. i assure you.”
“what did she ask? wait…do i even want to kn-”
when he recalled the question nilou had asked him, al-haitham’s expression was that of annoyance, “she asked how would i feel if you fell in love with someone else and started a family with them.”
“and?”
“i said no.” he stated, crossing his arms as if it was an obvious answer.
“what?! but, we’re not even-” came y/n’s baffled reply.
“no. i would not allow that to happen.”
“this is new.”
“what is?”
“this side of you.”
“it’s not,” his lips curled into a slight smile as his turquoise hues softening when they landed on hers, ”it has always been there when it comes to you.”
“???”

Part 1(this story is pt 1) Part 2 Part 3
Tumblr media
Loving Xiao was hard
He was closed off, only becoming "close" to the few who he could feel as ease with. Although you tried your best, cooking his favorite dish, almond tofu, being nice to him, taking care of his injures even with his stern protests. But it never was supposed to be you was it.
You were waiting for him at Wangshu inn. Trembling from the frigid cold, clenching onto the thin blanket you were keeping around yourself from the breeze.
Dont want to catch a cold, you told yourself. Not to mention already that you were feeling a little sick in your throat, coughing up more frequently than usual.
It was getting pretty late, you wondered, where could he be?
His food would be getting cold soon and plus it wasn't like him to stay this late without sending you a message. You couldn't even feel his presence around the area.
Should you go and try to find him? Yea. Maybe you should. You know, just to make sure he was okay. As you quickly turned into a puff of smoke, leaving your previous spot into the sky. Soaring through the clouds, you finally spotted the green flash of his teleportation.
As you started to drift down onto solid ground, a few feet away from Xiao, you noticed another person with him.
Huh? Was that the traveler? What was Xiao doing with them? You questioned while staying behind a tree to hide yourself. Xiao was probably just helping them out! Of course he was, the travelers was a nice person anyways. Its not like Xiao had feelings for them or something. Right?
But why was he blushing like that? And smiling like that? You've never seen him like that before despite knowing him for centuries. Did he actually have feelings for the traveler?
I mean, of course who wouldn't? With their courageous personality, outgoing self, and impressive battles. And to top it off, they were good looking. Who wouldn't like the traveler?
It made no sense at all to hate them. You were just being dramatic. All of sudden you started to cough, hard. So you quickly took a step back and disappeared again into a cloud of smoke.
The very next day, you were feeling uneasy. Maybe it was because of the events that took place but also because of that cough that almost gave you away. So you decide to have some tea with Zhongli, to ask him some questions and to chat of course!
Heading over to Liyue Habor to meet with him, you couldn't help but notice the lack of flowers around the area. Although Liyue had beautiful mountains and incredible sunset views, there wasnt a lot of flowers around. A few in the habor but none except for the sweet flowers you saw. Maybe you should talk about it to Xiao or Zhongli.
Finally you arrived and quickly saw the ex-archon with the funeral director Hu Tao.
Ah y/n, what a pleasure, Zhongli spoke, what brings you here?
Oh is this a friend of yours Mr. Zhongli? Hu tao teased, I guess I'll see you later then! She waved goodbye, leaving you and Zhongli both alone
Shall we go for tea? You asked the calm man
As you two made it to a table, you set out the tea and poured some of the rich tea into the porcelain cups.
For you and Zhongli, it was easy for you two to start a conversation. After all you had been with him very early on since he started his archon days. Even being with him when he took Xiao in as his own. However, your peaceful conversation suddenly took a turn as you started to cough hard once again like last night. But this time blood and...flowers dropped out of your mouth.
Y/n! Zhongli shouted, Someone send a doctor! As you closed eyes from the unbearable pain.
You woke up in a bed as you started wrinkle the sheet and proped yourself up with your elbows. What happened? Huh? A sheet of paper writtern, hanahaki disease. As soon as you read that, a doctor entered the room along with Zhongli. The doctor then slowly told you of your disease. A disease where a person who feels unrequited love, will cough up flowers. The only two end results of this disease would either be that the other person returns the feeling or......death. One other possible cure was a surgical removal but the victim will forget the feelings held for their beloved.
Forget their feelings? So you would forget about Xiao. All of the years spent with him, the memories, and all of the small moments when he let his wall down. Would be gone at the expense of you living. Should you get the surgery to forget your feelings about him? Or love him till the day you die?

∼⟪◍⟫∼
‘He knew.’ You realised with a sinking heart as his firm eyes searched yours for answers, a hint of disbelief and concern in them. He’d figured it out.
∼⟪◍⟫∼
Everything started out small. It always does.
For you, it started the very day you two met, little by little. You’d needed someone to help you find and retrieve some books from your treasured collection that had gone missing, and good old Detective Heizou was the one assigned to help you.
He didn’t take long to draw you in. The charisma and confidence in his voice, the intelligence and wit sparkling in his eyes with a hint of mischief, the amusement dancing subtly across his face. Everything about him pulled you deeper in. Not to mention, you were incredibly impressed at how efficient he was at his job, despite his carefree, playful attitude- within 24 hours, each and every one of the missing books had been neatly stacked in a pile along with an apology letter from the thief, and Heizou had returned them to you, with that charmingly cocky grin of his. You’d thanked him profusely then, and he’d waved it off as just helping out a bit. He even refused to take payment, insisting that if you really wanted, you could repay him with a nice lunch or dinner.
Since then, your ‘friendship’ with Heizou only grew.with time. The next time you met, it was an accidental encounter in the streets of Inazuma, and then you’d repaid him with that promised lunch. After that, you two just seemed to bump into each other more often, or perhaps you both just noticed each other both. More than a year passed, and you two were fast friends.
Just friends.
You didn’t know when those pesky feelings started to develop, but they did, taking root in your heart like a bug. And your poor heart cracked a bit more everytime Heizou called you his best friend with a grin, or when he casually flirted with random people, your emotions covered with an airy smile that betrayed none of what you felt, unfortunately for you. If only he knew…
∼⟪◍⟫∼
“[Y/NNNN]!” Heizou called over to you with a grin as you stood talking to the owner of one of the flower shops in Inazuma, running over as if to give you some great news. Your heart jumped a bit to see him again, even if it had only been less than a day since you last saw him. “What is it now, ‘Zou?” you chuckled. “Which uncrackable case have you cracked now?” He stopped right in front of you, breathless. “Guess what? Kujou Sara confessed to me! Can you believe it? The high and mighty, proud general Sara?” He was laughing.
You raised an eyebrow, trying to mask your surprise and disappointment. She got there first, huh? “Well? What did you say?” “I said yes, of course. Now boom, we’re dating.” Heizou replied easily.
You took in a deep breath, feeling like a hundred knives had been stabbed into you. But you needed to hide it, because Heizou was still looking at you expectantly, awaiting your response.
You’d always be his best friend. Not his lover.
This cold truth seemed to sink into your heart, as you controlled your facial expressions, making an excited smile that probably seemed very fake to the sharp eyes of someone like Heizou. You quickly followed it up. “Dang, I never thought I’d live to see the day when you actually dated someone! Man alive, am I surprised.” Heizou laughed again, his eyes crinkling, driving the wedge deeper into your heart. “Never thought I would too.” Then looking at his phone, he apparently remembered something as he quickly said, “Oh darn, I totally forgot I had to meet up with a client right now. See ya around, [Y/N]!”
You smiled sadly as he ran away, your heartbreak now visible on your face. You return your attention to the store owner who looks at you curiously. “Sorry, Ma’am, but I won’t be needing the flowers anymore. Could you please cancel my order?” The lady looked at you in sympathy as she nodded, probably having figured out who you were planning to confess to.
Back at home, you suddenly doubled over in a coughing fit, your lungs hurting.
∼⟪◍⟫∼
You’d stayed holed up at home for the next few days. Believe it or not, it actually wasn’t because of your broken heart. You’d fallen ill, and it greatly annoyed you. You kept coughing your throat out, and it wasn’t stopping. You did go about your normal routine for the first few days after Heizou told you, but then it got bad and you started staying home. Your friends often visited you, keeping you company. With their presence, you did seem to get a bit better.
So why was it that Heizou coming over out of concern for you always made you cough more?
One evening, he’d come over like always, with some medicines this time for bad coughs. Looking at his worried face at your deteriorating health, you wondered just how cruel it was for him to be always looking out for you, never knowing what you felt for him or what being with him did to you.
Unfortunately, it was in front of him that your illness grew worse- you started coughing out blood, him panicked and trying to help you.
Once you were temporarily better, he was insistent on staying the night with you to make sure that you didn’t get worse, but you made him leave reluctantly to get some rest. Immediately, you seemed to breathe a bit easier, even though your throat felt like there were vines practically growing in it. With that came an inkling suspicion of why you weren’t getting better. But it couldn’t be that, right?
Then, a week later, you coughed out your first petal, confirming your worst fears.
∼⟪◍⟫∼
Purple hyacinths were known to mean sorrow, longing, etc. 'How fitting.' You thought bitterly as you ruminated upon your less-than-ideal situation. You’d known for a while now that you held strong feelings for Heizou, but you never thought it would actually develop into Hanahaki. Damn it… What do you do now? You had to at least confess to Heizou for a chance at surviving, no matter how slim. But that would be very hard to do, considering he’s literally dating. That thought brought a bitter taste in your mouth. The other option would be to get the surgery, but it would mean removing Heizou from your life for good, but you weren’t quite keen on doing that. If not… You’d die.
No. You would most certainly not allow yourself to die for a failed love. Sure, you really loved him, but there was no point in throwing away your life for someone.
As you were thinking about this, there came a series of soft but strong knocks at your door. With a sigh, you dragged yourself down the stairs to see the visitor, noting that the knocks didn’t sound like Heizou’s or anyone else.
When you see the person at your doorstep, your eyes light up after a long while. “Kokomi!” You exclaim as you run to hug your old friend. You’d been forced to part with her after you shifted from Watatsumi Island to Narukami Island, but you’d regularly kept in touch. Kokomi frowned as you led her into your home. “You’re ill, aren’t you?” “Yes indeed, Doctor Kokomi.” You tried to joke. Kokomi narrowed her eyes at you. “You smell of blood. What sickness do you have? I can heal you.”
You hesitate for a moment, unsure of whether to tell her or not. Not because you don’t trust her- she’s probably your most trusted confidante apart from Heizou, but because you’re a bit afraid of her reaction. With a sigh, you say, “Hanahaki.”
You could see it in the way her eyes fell. “Who is it? Heizou?” She asked, immediately understanding. You sighed in affirmation. “Can you heal me?” This time, it was Kokomi who was hesitant as she responded, “... I do know how to conduct the surgery, but there’s no other way out unless you confess and he accepts.” You grimaced. “Can you please keep this a secret from Heizou for now? I’m still thinking on what to do.” She nodded, looking resigned, but said, ”Alright, but you need to decide fast. To me, it looks like your illness is already quite severe. There is a certain stage beyond which the surgery cannot be conducted and the only option is to confess or die.” You nodded. “Thank you so much, Kokomi.” A while later, after you two had caught up with other topics, she left to go to the hotel she was staying at, giving you her address and telling her to come see you immediately if anything happened, along with some medicines for delaying the growth of the hanahaki.
∼⟪◍⟫∼
While you were chatting with Kokomi, Heizou was flipping through books on diseases and illnesses. Needless to say, he was worried sick on seeing that it had been weeks and your condition had only grown worse.
On a different note, he had just broken up with Kujou Sara that morning. Things just weren’t working out, and he wasn’t interested anyways- he just wanted to try things out. So now, he had more time to find something to cure you.
He groaned as he went through the list of symptoms. He had a feeling that he knew what was wrong with her, but he was too afraid to admit it. ‘Heavy persistent coughs that slowly deteriorate to frequent bloody coughs, along with a feeling of being unable to breathe. In the last stage, which is almost certainly fatal during the later phase, the victim coughs out flower petals symbolic of their situation, along with blood. When the flower petals change into full blooms, the surgery cannot be conducted anymore, and the disease becomes fatal.’
His heart sank- his worst fear had been confirmed. You had hanahaki. He hadn’t yet seen you cough out flower petals though- so there was still time. He’d talk to you about it today, unsure of whether you knew about Hanahaki or not.
He also wondered who it was who was dumb enough to not accept or return your feelings. He would, in a jiffy.
∼⟪◍⟫∼
You sigh a little, enjoying the cool breeze hitting your face after so long. You were going over to pay Kokomi a visit, taking this as an excuse to get out of your house, which had started to feel cramped and stuffy. But of course, your moment of pleasure just had to be interrupted by another bout of flowery coughs as you hurried into some street corner to ensure that no one sees it. As you hurriedly stuff the purple flower petals with red, bloody edges into a bag you were carrying, a voice calls out to you that made dread settle in your heart.
Heizou stands there, staring directly at you and the bloody purple petals in your hands.
‘He knew.’ You realised with a sinking heart as his firm eyes searched yours for answers, a hint of disbelief and concern in them. He’d figured it out.
“You didn’t tell me it had gotten this bad.” Heizou said quietly, stepping closer to you. “I didn’t want you to know.” You murmured a response, looking down at your feet to avoid his stare, his eyes still looking at you in disbelief. “Why? Why, [Y/N], why? Who is this person?”
You gulp under his stare as you debate whether to tell him or not. Yes, you knew he was dating Sara but still… You were on your way to Kokomi’s anyways. The opportunity had presented itself, you should take it.
“It’s you, Heizou. You’re the one I love.” you whisper as you look up to meet his gaze.
You wish you hadn’t. Then you wouldn’t have seen the way the disbelief in his eyes changed into shock, surprise, and denial.
It was clear as day to you- Heizou didn’t return your feelings, you were dumb for thinking you had a chance.
You ran past him straight to Kokomi’s, wanting to escape. On the way, you could feel another round of flowers coming up your throat, but you held them down till you reached your destination.
Meanwhile Heizou stood still, shocked at what had transpired, a hand outstretched in the direction you had ran.
It was him.
As his brain finally processed things, he was still in disbelief and shock. He had been smart enough to figure out that you had hanahaki, but much too dumb to realise who it was directed towards. It was then that he forced his body to run, to search for you.
Late into the night, he still had no idea where you went, as he stood in the desolate streets of Inazuma, hands clenched.
∼⟪◍⟫∼
More than a year had passed since then, and he had no clue of your whereabouts, or if you were even alive or dead. Everytime he thought of you, regret and guilt filled him as he cursed himself out.. If only he’d told her his feelings instead of hiding them like an idiot. If only he’d run after her immediately. If only he’d figured out your feelings faster. If only, if only…
He was in Watatsumi Island for a new case, although his efficiency at work had decreased over the last year. He thought he might as well take some time off for himself, give himself some time to recuperate quietly.
But it seemed fate had other plans for him, as his eyes fell upon a figure in the woods of Watatsumi Island, one more than familiar to him.
His heart jumped into his throat as the figure straightened, then turned to look at him. “...[Y/N]?” He ran towards you to engulf you in a hug, but stopped short on seeing the expression on your face. There was curiosity, but not an inkling of recognition.
Ah. So that’s why he didn’t see you anymore. You’d taken the surgery and moved out.
“Oh, do I know you? May I help you? I see you are new here.” You said with a kind, polite smile, the one that you usually reserved for strangers.
His heart and fists clenched as he realised that you had no idea who he was anymore. As he realised that once again, he was too late.

kavetham fic where they both get hanahaki at the exact same time and go "Well, Alhaitham/Kaveh knows that I have Hanahaki disease because I'm in love with him. So if his Hanahaki were because he were in love with me, he'd just confess!" I feel like you could play this either way like the premise of the fic is literally just that they cant fucking communicate LITERALLY to save their lives so it could be either funny as shit (so long as theyre not in too much peril) or hella angsty (as much peril as is necessary) but either way it could be soooo good

Al Haitham x GN!Reader [hinted hanahaki au, slight angst to fluff]
"You're so mean, you know? If you hadn't looked at me like that, if you hadn't been so kind to me… to just me, maybe I could've kept on living unaware. Naive to this- this tightness in my throat, and swelling in my chest. You've always been so cold to everyone, but those small smiles you offer just me make my blood rush to my head. If I hadn't known your warmth, I could've kept my heart whole, but I can't. And I can't run away, either, because I love you, Haitham. My heart has chosen you to call its home. You are my home."
"I- can't," he choked, eyes wide with panic, "I just-"
"I know," they interrupted, a soft smile painted on their lips, "I'm just a little disappointed that I managed to delude myself to the point I actually thought you might like me back."
"I'm sorry," he raised his hand, stopping before he let himself cup his friend's tear-ridden cheek.
"Don't apologize," they stepped forward, pressing their forehead against his chest, hiding their tears from his sharp eyes, "that's not the type of person you are."
He let his outstretched hand drop gently onto their head, staring straight ahead.
"I almost wish you had been cold," a pitiful laugh, "it would have been easier. Though, I admit it would have hurt far more. I suppose I should thank you."
"Thank me?"
"For rejecting me so kindly. For giving me the chance to experience this wonderous feeling I used to ridicule. I'm happy I met you."
Tumblr media
"Doctor?"
"Yes, dear?"
"Do you think, if I see him again, I could fall in love all over again?"
"Perhaps."
"How romantic."
"Are you ready?"
"As ever."
Tumblr media
Al Haitham startled, after disappearing for two weeks, they'd suddenly reappeared in his path, humming along to a song only they could hear. It was a habit he hadn't even realized he had missed, the silence permeating his office more off-putting than it had ever been before. He called out, and they froze midstep, looking up like a child caught with their hand in the cookie jar.
"Um... hi?" their voice pitched with nerves, "I'm sorry, do I know you?"
His eye twitched, and he decided to play along with their little game, "Of course, we're the best of friends after all. Don't tell me you've forgotten me so easily after all we've been through."
A blush tinted their ears pink, head sinking embarrassed into their shoulders, "Friend? Oh dear, I seem to have such an awful memory. This is so embarrassing."
He frowned, this was no longer just a joke, they had truly forgotten him completely. "No problem," he compartmentalized that upset for another time. Right now it was important he learn exactly what had happened in these past two weeks.
"Well," they hesitated, clearly trying to make up for their forgetfulness, "from your robes, I assume I know you from the Academiya. Are you a researcher?"
"Yes, that is how we met, however, I'm actually the Academiya's Scribe."
"Scribe?" His hands reached out on instinct to catch them, the shock of the revelation having caused them to trip over their own feet.
They chuckled nervously, pushing themselves off him gently, "Well, you can't blame me for making such a fool of myself. After all, I seem to have forgotten an attractive gentleman such as yourself."
"It can't be helped," he smiled wistfully, "you've always been quite a clutz."
"Have not," they grumbled, childishly. Then, turning back to him, "I'm actually quite graceful, it just so happens that beautiful people turn my knees to jelly."
"Well then," he held his elbow out for them to grab, "how about I take you to lunch so you can rest those jellied legs of yours."
"I think I'd quite enjoy that, old friend of mine," they took his arm, grinning widely, "and while we're at it, you can tell me how exhausting it must be to be such an important and gorgeous man."
"If you continue with this flattery, I may think you're only interested in my face."
"Not at all, your arms are quite nice, too."
Considering writing pt.2 of Al Haitham POV learning about the disease but I didn't even do very well on this part. The idea was much angstier in my head.

𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐫 . .
. . maybe you and alhaitham were just never meant to be.
// tws ; blood ! possible alluding to reader’s death? ; gn reader ; modern & high school au, hanahaki au
a/n: stan twice
unrequited.
you knew your love was of that nature, yet you couldn’t help but yearn for it.
for the delicate and feathery touch of the scribe’s love.
pining after him was no use, you knew. but, alas, what could you do?
he was the prestigious scribe, whilst you were a nobody, too meek to speak up to others, always uttering a small, “yes” to everything asked of you.
too shy to talk to people — terrified that you would embarrass yourself or leave a bad impression, or that you would wind up being the center of attention.
but, if you were so scared, why did you crave his attention?
every time you glanced around the classroom, fleeting gaze eventually landing on his soft grey and teal tufts of hair, and his turquoise eyes, flecked with specks of orange, you couldn’t help but wish as you stared at him, a stoic and indifferent expression plastered onto his stupidly pretty face —
wish that he could love you.
wish that he could hold you.
wish that he could look at you.
wish that he could know you.
but luck was never on your side, was it? for, you wholeheartedly expected your wishes not to be heard (and they weren’t), but lady luck had decided to make your life miserable — making the decision that having an obviously unreciprocated wasn’t enough.
and so she gave you hanahaki.
every day, as your gaze landed unconsciously on him, the vines curled around your lungs, gripping them.
flowers — fuchsia azaleas — tickled the back of your throat, being lodged there, making you cough a little.
and, alhaitham’s head turned towards the noise of coughing.
you froze, quickly collecting the petals in your hand, stuffing them into your pocket. your gaze instantly shot downwards, glued onto your notebook as your hand rapidly scribbled something down, pretending to be taking notes or writing or just doing something.
and, as you wrote, you felt monarchs fluttering in your stomach, heat rising up to your neck and face.
who knew that agony could be a little fun?
but, as the days grew, your heart made it clear that it did not desire “fun”.
oh, no.
the only thing it wanted was alhaitham.
and that was made evident by the way you were now crouched on the bathroom floor, on your hands and knees, coughing out bouts of the hot pink flowers to remove the giant lump in your throat and the tickling of petals in the back of it.
the azaleas hit the previously porcelain white and neatly polished floor with a disgustingly wet noise, and, as you opened your eyes the tiniest bit, you laid your eyes on the flower.
a seemingly freshly bloomed azalea, coated with your own blood, slick with your own mucus. it laid there, some of the burgundy blood dripping down and pooling around it, coloring the dove-white floor with a splash of red.
you sat there, blankly staring at the barbie azaleas flopped on the floor. they were still covered in blood for your throat. they’re the hundredth flowers you’d coughed up today, and you had a strange mixture of apathy and horror coursing through you.
the lump in your throat felt like a knife, and the petals tickle and tickle, causing you to cough and wheeze. it was getting harder and harder to breathe. you were exhausted — from both coughing up the flowers and also from feeling this fucking unreciprocated love. but, of course, the hanahaki wouldn’t let you stop suffering until your love is returned.
if only alhaitham would look at you, talk to you, acknowledge your existence in any way.
if only you would talk to him.
but, god, if it wasn’t hard to build up the courage.
he wouldn’t just come up and talk with you. why would you even wish that? why were you so stupid?
you hated yourself for it, wishing he would talk to you whilst not even interacting with him.
the truth was that the scribe intimidated you quite a bit, being stoic and indifferent, curt and formal to nearly anybody.
you tried to take a deep breath, but it hurt.
it hurt so, so much.
the fuchsia azaleas covered the piece of floor in front of you almost entirely, a horrific reminder of the disease that's destroying you from the inside.
while you had been thinking, the stupidly pleasant smell of the azaleas — a dainty and delicate blend of floral honeysuckle notes— mixed with the tinged irony odor of blood, wafted upwards toward you, giving you a whiff of a smell that made you want to wretch.
you should’ve gotten the surgery when you could — now it was far too late, you were going to die for sure.
you were beyond the point of saving.
you stared blankly at the sheet of paper which sat before you, trying to concentrate on the lecture your teacher was giving, but your mind kept drifting off.
you kept glancing upwards, and every time you did so you saw the lightest shade of grey there could be, like a thrush’s delicate feathers, mixed with sage green, perfectly complementing the scribes clothes.
yeah, maybe you should keep your eyes on the paper. looking at him made you watch to rip your throat out and cough your lungs out.
you sat in your bed, curled in a small ball, fluffy white blanket bunched up around you.
the bright screen of your computer, extremely so, illuminated your face.
you didn’t particularly want to write this essay, and what would be the point? the stupid azaleas would choke you to death eitehr way, using you as a human flower pot.
you closed the screen with a harsh thud!, drowning yourself in complete and utter darkness as the abnormally bright light emitted from the computer was sucked away.
you hastily put the computer away, curling into a tight ball on your bed.
you awaited death, hot pink azaleas tickling your throat and dreaming about the scribe, his perfectness almost alien, like the condition deteriorating you from the inside out, like a withering flower.

i feel hella sick so why not to think about hanahaki wriolette au
that can partially justify the disease because only dragons can have it because that’s something too ancient and for strong creatures only (they had only paws back then, they were unable to pick up flowers so why not to throw up with them to attract attention of the needed partner wow so romantic)
and wriothesley just doesn’t get why one day they are pretty close buds with neuvillette and the other he ignores almost all of his letters and visits him only when the main aim of the visit is to talk to sigewinne
wrio misses his petite friend and he sneaks into the tube that leads to sigewinne’s cabinet
neuvillette is on one of the beds and the melusine is studying a bunch of pretty white and blue petals wondering what’s going on
because neuvi forgot about the disease just like he did with most of his dragon days
but his reaction to wriothesley is telling — he panics and starts coughing and stops only when the duke is by his side, he helps with his pretty hair that in no way should get dirty
one of the petals falls to the ground and wriothesley is quick to grab it before neuvillette does that and says that glaze lily’s his favourite flower because it looks just like the iudex, he then blushes and quietly invites him to his office to show how to properly make some tea with flowers and asks not to eat petals any more
sigewinne is quick to take a step back and laugh quietly while embarrassed neuvi just nods accepting the invitation
that time they don’t have the petals to try and make some tea so they just talk about something stupid
they don’t try glaze lily tea even after that because neuvillette has no more petals left
