The symptoms you’re describing sounds a whole lot like burn out, which happens to the best of us when we push ourselves too long and hard past our limits. It definitely would seem easier to rely on external statistics (likes and reblogs/retweets) to determine the value of your work when you can’t see it yourself, but this is definitely something that can make you feel worse when the numbers don’t hit your expected target. Regardless of the size of your audience, it’s not unreasonable to want or desire for interaction and positive feedback for work you’ve put time and effort into producing, especially when you’ve done so with more limited resources (time/energy etc) than you had access to before. While it’s not a sure-fire way to cure burnout, taking a break and getting enough rest as well as allowing yourself some breathing space can help. Take care of yourself! Love your work—but don’t burn yourself down to the ground! There’s only one like and one reblog that I can give 😢 even if I want to give more…

i remembered i own watercolors, and also a scanner lol (though i don't think i like what the scanner results look like that much,,, tho, it was better than using the phone camera as there isn't any annoying shiny-ness)

idk how to draw water but i think it turned out quite interesting looking

i used a part of john william waterhouse's "hylas and the nymphs" -painting as a reference

Eyes of the SEES members ~

I’ve always admired artstyles where every character has super unique and recognizable vibes, so decided to try it with the gang. Super fun, highly recommend!

In the process of designing these I developed headcanons for each of their eyes, kind weird but if you want to read me ranting about why I drew Yukaris pupils a certain way or whatever, feel free to click read more lol.

Makoto: I wanted him to look tired, so a lot of his eyelashes go downward instead of upwards, also eye bags because he has insomnia and you can’t convince me otherwise. I didn’t want his eyes to look hollow/empty, but I didn’t want to put super obvious highlights and I think it works? Idk. Also drew his eyes in a way that reminds me of the ocean at night (Atlus gave me a ocean/water motif and I run with it ok?). His eyebrows are kinda “messy” in comparison to the others but I think it makes his eyes prettier so it is in character to me.

Yukari: I wanted her eyes to look a little more intense and turned them a little to give them a slightly “angry look”. Yukari should have a light case of rbf imo. I feel like Yukari puts a lot of effort into her appearance, and she probably wears more makeup but I cannot draw that to save my life lmao. Her eyebrows are probably the least messy other than Mitsurus, for the same reason as the previous one. Also hard to tell, but I put hearts in her pupils because it’s cute. Really proud of these ones, they read like hers so well to me.

Junpei: Junpeis eyes were so fun to draw! I feel like he’d have pretty short lashes and slightly smaller eyes, but still very vibrant! I really wanted his eyes to look full of life but still pretty simple, and I think I did pretty well! They feel very expressive to me. Also I feel like he’d have naturally very thin eyebrows, so gave him that lol.

Akihiko: idk how I feel about these, but I guess they’re alright? Gave him a kinda intense stare ig. I gave him really long natural eyelashes because I feel like he’d have them (canonical pretty boy that he is) and I’m somewhat proud of them because I stuggle with making longer eyelashes look masculine so guess this is a win. Gave him an eyebrow slit because I was so sure he had one in p4arena only to find out he didn’t even have eyebrows in it. What.

Fuuka: I feel like Fuukas neutral expression would still look slightly confused/concerns so her eyes are a little droopy. Gave her short but thick eyebrows because I thought it would be cute. Her eyes kinda remind me of rain and I like that! Also sidenote love the fact that official art draws fuuka with teal eyebrows. The implication that she was either born with teal hair or is so dedicated to the dye job she even dyed her eyebrows is hilarious to me. I know blue is treated as a normal hair color in persona-universe but Fuuka is literally the only one with teal hair how is it not dyed but yosuke and chies is??

Mitsuru: I wanted Mitsuru to be pretty. I gave her thinner but crisp eyebrows and eyeliner. I was a little worried because before I started shading her eyes looked kinda evil?? Lol but they turned out better in the end. Didn’t do a lot of details in her eyes because it felt like it worked better that way, but gave her bright highlights in her eyes to make up for it.

Aigis: These are my least favorite, and the first ones I did. Not sure if thats awful, because I wanted them to be very different from the rest. I feel like Aigis doesn’t actually have this wide eyes but willingly widens them so you can see the whole iris. I feel like her eyes would look more normal at a distance, and most of her classmates just assume she’s got weird eyes because they’re an uncommon eye color (major “give her brown contacts please” energy). Made her eyes look like does target-thingys and slightly plastic-y.

Ken: I didn’t want his eyes to be to bright, but still lively and childish. I gave him round wide eyes + smaller and thicker eyebrows to give a more childish feel. His eyelashes are pretty short but made them point more downwards since they looked too cheerful when turned upwards.

Shinjiro: dunno how readable these are as shinji, but theyre fine. Made his eyes very dark and put bright highlights cause I thought it looked better than the grey he actually has. Also gave him major eyebags because man has not had a good nights rest since like. Last October (sorry)

i'm gonna start with slugcats! my old guide from 2023 is here.

Note: "slugcat" refers to multiple species (slugcats are in a species complex). It can be hard to differentiate slugcat species, since some are very similar and hybridization between them is common where their ranges overlap. The species that Monk and Survivor are members of is called the "common slugcat."

Slugcats are weird sorta-feline creatures that walk bipedally and have little hands. Their average height is 3'3" or about 1 meter tall.

Their basic body shape is a round head on top of a trapezoidal body. Their legs are digitigrade, they have human-like arms (that are often skinny lol), and their tails are thick and tapering. Slugcats also have retractable arms ig??? I have no idea how that would work

In terms of head shape, it's similar to a cat's, but with a somewhat taller forehead (bigger brain! more room for being Smart!). Slugcats usually have short muzzles, big eyes, and long ears.

Note: slugcat arms usually rest in front of the body (think meerkats) rather than to the sides like a human.

Uhhh I like giving slugcats dewlaps (rabbit dewlaps are a good reference)!

And for fat slugcats, fat is usually stored in the tail (and dewlap) first. So naturally my gourmand has a big tail and a big dewlap :]

And!! I like to think that some slugcats have fur, and some don't. Hairless slugcats are slimy; furred slugcats have oily, waterproof coats. Some shorthaired slugcats have smooth fur like otters and seals do.

TEEFS!!! Except technically, slugcats don't have teeth. Rather, they have sharp, jagged beaks (think cephalopods). Their beaks continually grow and they are self-sharpening. Because their beaks are really sharp, slugcat bites are always serious injuries.

The length of their "fangs" varies by species. Some carnivorous species have long fangs, for example.

And! They have bristly tongues like cats (and kinda like the radula of a gastropod).

For their paws, slugcats have 3-fingered hands and feet. Their claws vary; some individuals have blunt claws, some have sharp claws, others have retractable claws, etc.

The inner toe of a slugcat's foot is opposable, making it easy for them to grab onto poles with their feet. (Compare to scavengers, who mostly use their arms to climb.)

SLUPPIES!!!!!! (don't worry about the fluffy one, they're just eepy)

Slugpups have different proportions than adults! Including having a bigger head, chubbier body, etc. Fluffy slugpups can also be a bit scraggly like longhaired kittens are.

My slugcats are basically egg-laying marsupials. They lay eggs, store them in their pouch, and then the eggs hatch into itty bitty babies. The babies stay in the pouch, feeding on milk until they're big enough to venture outside.

When pups are too big for the pouch, they ride on their parent's head or back. They also begin the process of weaning around this time, since by then they've started growing a sharp beak (i guess before that, their beak is dull and too small to self-sharpen?).

Note: some slugcat species are unisex and others are trioecious (having male, female, and hermaphrodite individuals).

For expressions, ears are important!!

Neutral: ears relaxed. The relaxed position varies by individual; some slugcats have their ears rest slightly tilted back, for example.

Alert/interested: ears perked up.

Angry: ears pinned back. Very angry slugcats have their ears positioned so they're almost in line with the top of the head.

Afraid: ears pinned down (sometimes slightly to the sides, too).

Sad: ears droop to the sides.

Slugcats mostly use their tails for balance, but they're used for some emotes too.

Upwards-curled tail is an excited or enthusiastic hello! Kinda like how some cats raise their tail when they see their human.

When upset, annoyed, or grumpy, slugcats may thump their tail against the ground (kinda like how rabbits stomp).

Some slugcats wag their tails when playing or excited. This isn't a universal thing, though.

Slugcats with fur may puff up their tail when startled or scared. They may also puff their tail when excited or playing, too.

This is stupid, but you know those new LO hoodies the Webtoon shop has? I know the font they're using. It's Eckmannpsych which is an Adobe font.

That's not the stupid part though. The dumb part is the capital H and G in the Eckmannpsych font do not match what is on the hoodies, which would obviously be on the hoodies that have Hera or Goddess on them. So, Rachel looks to have taken the time to hand draw her own H and G to match the font style for those hoodies but did not take any time to make new, better art for the merch, but instead reused ugly panels from the comic. Talk about a strange look into her priorities. She doesn't like how the G and H look on a font? She will remake those to fit what she wants. Rachel when the assignment gives her the chance to make specialized, better designs for those same merch? She can't be bothered to even try. WTF!

for the love of god-

I'm assuming and hoping they had the commercial rights to that font LMAOO But it did kind of make me go 🤨 because while I didn't know the font EXACTLY off the top of my head it still felt... weirdly out of place for something like LO? Why are these hoodies being stylized like they're from Austin Powers LOL

On another note tho, the LO merch is just like... disappointing in how bad it is for what's supposed to be WT's #1 series, which is, btw, a series with so much unique stylization that it shouldn't even be this hard to make merch for it! it just feels very "first attempt at redbubble merch", but unlike genuine first attempts at making merch (which is obviously a learning curve that I wouldn't judge anyone for being new to) this is a company that's sunk shitloads of money into LO so I don't know why they can't get better merch made?? so much of it is just the default drawings taken and slapped onto a tote bag or t-shirt, which like, yeah cool fine you're using art that's recognizable and considering the art is already made, it stands to reason that they should use it for more than just the comic. It's just disappointing to see how lazy it often is and how little effort is put into translating it onto a t-shirt/tote bag/etc. like we can't even have ONE exclusive t-shirt with a unique design that isn't just poorly copy pasted from the comic?

Case in point, those t-shirts that Rachel was advertising a while ago that were actually straight up falsely advertised. I can't find the post about it on my Tumblr (I'm pretty sure I talked about it here) so here's the IG story rundown I did on it ages ago:

Again I'd really like to have benefit of the doubt here that Rachel isn't the one making these designs, usually that's not how the merchandising process goes in these types of deals, so I'm not gonna point the finger at her. But it's just so odd to me that it happened in the first place. And this goes for a lot of LO's merch, so much of it feels cheaply made and rushed off a conveyor belt for the point of making money without much expense. Which yeah, that's a business model for sure, the goal is to profit, but like this?

You can't even argue that it's like people criticizing LO the comic because like, as much as I'll justify what I spend my time doing here in my free time, it's true that at the end of the day I don't have to pay for LO, so really the only thing I'm doing is inflicting psychic damage to myself, it's not like my actual money is on the line LMAO That's why I stopped paying for LO ages ago and only do it when I have a specific episode I need to review (such as the midseason hiatus review series I did). At the very least, if I really want to keep reading LO but don't want to pay for it, I can just avoid FastPassing it and read it for free so I can save the coins for other series I'd rather read. The Webtoons' FP system is very fair that way.

But this is merch explicitly made to generate revenue. It is a product, front to back. You can vote with your money by not buying the thing you don't like, absolutely, but the fact that it's this poorly to begin with is just so indicative of Webtoons' business practices and so shitty for the people who genuinely enjoy this comic and are being advertised and sold shoddy merchandise that doesn't even come looking the same way it's advertised. It's really not a good look for Webtoons, Rachel, or LO that this is what they're selling to people.

Especially for what they're charging, good lord-

Like, okay, they're hoodies and they're gonna be expensive to print and ship so the higher overhead cost makes sense, but jesus christ, with the kind of merch Webtoons has already given the stamp of approval on, would it even show up in decent condition? How bright are those colors gonna be? Are they gonna strip off as soon as I throw it in the wash? I'm half-tempted to buy a hoodie for myself just to do a review on it but I can't justify dropping $75 CAD on a hoodie that only has art on the back. Maybe it's just me living in the hellish lands of Canada where we play with toy money that's the problem, but it's just not a gamble I wanna take LOL If I bought one it would probably be the Hecate or Hermes ones because they're the only ones that are at least somewhat legible and have decent character art that isn't a character looking like they need to poop LMAO

(these are literally the two worst drawings they could have chosen of these two i stg lol the only thing that would have made this worse/funnier is if it was Handsome Hades and Persephone Kidnapping a Baby LMAO)

It has me worried about what the LO figures are gonna look like when they release. Are they gonna have some creative liberty with making them chibi-fied (like a Nendoroid?) or are they gonna try and replicate the art style exactly and wind up making literal blow-up sex doll Persephone? 😭

NGL, if the figures are done well enough and don't cost an arm and a leg, I might consider buying one just for the shelf collection, but again, it depends. If Webtoons released a tarot deck with really good panels from LO (like the Tower 4 scene or Persephone sitting on the rooftop with her comb or Eros flying down into the Mortal Realm) I would buy the shit out of that. Before I answer more asks I want to say my stance(???) on this whole thing

I hope caiti finds peace, I don’t condone what George did but I don’t think he’s a monster.. I believe in second chances and from talking to other people irl even if what he did was really bad and makes my skin kinda crawl from what we know they were both comfy at the time and so George still should have been more careful but I believe that if he fully takes responsibility, if he takes the necessary steps starting by apologizing fully privately and or publicly (which he kinda did ig? But it’s caiti’s decision to accept or not) he can change to be a better person

I’m not really sure what to think of other things people brought up about his past chats or jokes as I never really tuned into streams that much so

As to dream, I feel bad. It was now Friday and you hadn't gone into work for the rest of the week; you called your boss and claimed to be sick with the flu. You might as well be sick, you were so anxious that you could hardly keep anything down.

"Y/n?" Felix's voice softly call through your apartment. You have your noise canceling headphones on as loudly as your ears could tolerate and didn't hear him.

Felix had been asking to come over to see you all week. You told him the same lie that you were sick and didn't want to get sick too. Normally he wouldn't care and just come over anyway, but he and the boys were in the middle of a comeback so he stayed away this time. But he knows how quickly you recovered from cold and the fact that you were on day 5 and still feeling poorly worried him, so he came over anyway.

Felix's head pokes in your bedroom door to check if you were asleep or not. Seeing you wrapped up in your duvet made him think that you actually were asleep. He tiptoes in and sets a bag down beside the bed and starts to empty the contents on the bedside table. He bought some medicines he was worried that you didn't have just in case.

He looked over to your supposedly sleeping body and saw the top of your head poking through your blanket cocoon. He gently shoves his hand in the blanket to find your forehead and take your temperature. The sudden weight of his hand on your head causes you to scream and bury yourself further into the blanket, knocking your headphones off in the process. Felix quickly pulls his hand away.

"Sorry, sorry. It's just me. I was just checking on you, didn't mean to scare you." Your heart was pounding so loudly that you barely could hear him.

When you don't respond to him, or even move from your position, he gets more worried. He could see the blanket shaking around your body. He climbs up on the bed and starts taking the blanket off of you. Not being fully there mentally and running on pure adrenaline, you pull the blanket closer to your body. Furrowing his eyebrows, Felix uses all of his strength to finally pull the blanket off of you. As soon as the protective cover is off of you, your arms fly to your head. The sound of you loudly crying and shaking worries Felix even more.

"Y/n? Hey what's wrong?" He throws the blanket aside and pulls you into a hug, trying to calm you down.

"F-Felix?" You hiccup, the smell of cologne finally pulls you back to reality. You slightly pull away so you can look at Felix. He's wearing a face mask but you can tell by the look in his eyes how scared he is for you.

It's just Felix. You're safe. He can't hurt you.

"Yeah, it's just me. I've got you," He pulls you back in and rubs your back.

Once Felix calms you down, he pulls your head off of his chest and wipes your face, cleaning up the tears, both dried and fresh. You tell him everything. About how much of a monster your father was. How any little thing used to set him off and you were often the target of his anger. How many of the scars that littered your body were because of him. How he abandoned you not only once, but twice and he would come back and ruin yours again. How all of this was triggered by the customer you could have sworn wsa your father. By the end of the story, Felix was also in tears and confused anyone could hurt someone was loving and amazing as you.

"Thank you for telling me. Would... would it help if you stayed with me? At the dorm I mean." He pulled off his face mask the second he realized you weren't actually sick.

"M-maybe. Sorry for freaking out on you like that." You mumble

"Don't be sorry. Your reaction is justified I promise that I'll protect you. You didn't deserve " He grabs both of your cheeks, and places a kiss on your forehead.

"Thank you Felix,"

"My pleasure. And just a heads up, if I see your dad, I'm drop kicking him straight to the grave."

Bunny hybrid Y/n x Genshin boys

Featuring :: Albedo, Thoma & Kaeya

Summary :: Just some moments of the three genshin guys with their bunny hybrid girlfriend

Since 2023 is the year of the rabbit, I came up with this random idea. Still, if you’re reading, I hope you enjoy!

Albedo

• This man will carry out all kind all sorts of experiments on you. He’ll probably come across a random flower on the street, and go like, “Hmm, I wonder what will happen to Y/n if she eats this?” Of course, being the sweet heart he is, he’ll make sure he takes care of any side effects of his experiments.

• Having a strong passion for drawing, there’s no doubt that he’ll have you pose for all kinds of drawings. Even some…sussy ones. 😏 Your face turned as flaming red as Klee’s bombs when you came across one of your boyfriend’s sussy drawing of, ahem, a certain body part of yours 😏 😏 😏

• As a lover of dessert himself, he often suggests activities such as baking / cooking together. Not having much experience in cooking, he relies mostly on the recipe. You’ll see him spend 90% of the whole baking process reading the cook book. He’ll probably use his alchemy equipment to measure / contain the ingredients, I mean, accuracy counts for a lot, right? (Author-san has never cooked before hehe)

“So… 10.57g of sucrose, and 0.25g of sodium chloride…” Albedo murmured as he flipped through the cook book. Listening to him, your face just went like ??? “Uh… Bedo? We’re going to bake Sucrose???” The alchemist chuckled a little before he explained, “I’m referring to sugar, not our friend Sucrose.” “O-oh…” Your face immediately flushed red. He gently stroked your soft cheeks before bending down to kiss you on the forehead, “It’s alright darling. I’ll avoid using alchemy terms in the future.” “Mmm…”

After some slight struggling (You dropping the flour onto the ground, you adding too much salt thinking it’s sugar, you dipping your fingers into the bowl to taste some of the batter etc etc) in which your boyfriend just sighed and resolved for the both of you, the both of you were able to put the cake into oven quite quickly.

“Bedo, how long more does it need to bake?” You whined for the who knows how many times. Your ears drooped and a small pout appeared on your face. The man pecked at your huffed cheeks, “Darling, the timer says 25 more minutes.” You groaned, “That’s soooo long!” “Mhm…” “H-hey! B-bedo!” You gasped as your boyfriend suddenly straddled you closer to him, kissing the exposed parts of your breast. You felt his warm breath ghost your sensitive skin as he whispered silkily, “Well… Since we still have another 25mins to wait, I might as well keep the both of us entertained~”

Thoma

• Since you were part rabbit, so you eat carrots, right? That’s why this male wife came up with all sort of carrot dishes for you, like dango which dough is made up of flour + carrot juice, and filling is sweet carrot paste. He only started serving you regular food when you told him, “Uhmm… Thoma, I actually eat other foods apart from carrots too, so you don’t need to make me special food…” His face went blank after that…

• Apart from cooking, Thoma also excels in knitting, which is exactly why challenged himself to knitting you a winter hat. That turned out much harder than expected because he just couldn’t get the measurements of your ears right! “T-Thoma!” You would gasp and whine every time his hand / the ruler touched your sensitive ears. When he finally completed knitting your hat, you refused to wear it! 😫😫😫 “B-but love, you’re supposed to wear it! It’s a hat!” He protested with a small pout. “I might ruin it if I wear it! I don’t want waste your hard work!” You argued. Not wanting to argue with you, the hat officially resigned from being a hat.

• Thoma had a girlfriend and a lot of friends, but another group of companions always gets his special attention — the stray cats and dogs in Inazuma City! He makes them clothes and feeds them. Hearing him blab about those animals everyday, it took a lot of persuasion for you to believe that you were Thoma’s favourite and most adorable animal.

“Loveee, I promise! Maru doesn’t bite!” “Fine-” Despite having agreed to pet Taroumaru, you immediately withdrew your hand the moment the shiba barked at you. “He was just saying hi!” Thoma tried to persuade you, but you refused to listen. Being the smart dog he was, Taroumaru had his ways of persuading you to give his furry head a stroke.

“A-ah!” You yelped as the shiba leaped out of Thoma’s arms and pounced onto you, knocking you over. He then proceeded to licking you. “H-hey! I-it’s ticklish!” You couldn’t stop giggling as the dog’s tongue lapped against your skin. Seeing Taroumaru enjoying his time, your boyfriend couldn’t help but feel jealous. He knew how childish it was of him to get jealous over a dog, but you’re his girlfriend!

“Good boy, let Y/n have a rest.” Thoma lifted Taroumaru off you before he himself bent down over you, leaving hungry kisses all over your body. “Thoma…” You whined, looking up at the male. “Maru’s had his turn, so now it’s now my turn to enjoy you!”

Kaeya

• Being half rabbit, you were quite tiny, and he will not stop teasing you about your size. You’d hear him go like, “Hmm? Where are you, I don’t think I can see you?” when you’re right in front of him until you get pissed off.

• Another prank he likes to play on you was serving you stir-fried radish with sauce instead of your favourite carrot. After the dark sauce was added, the radish looks convincingly like carrots coz you can’t tell the colour. After falling for that prank once, you always tried to exercise caution when eating that dish cooked by your boyfriend, but you always fell for it anyways. Who could you blame for getting overly hyper whenever a dish looked like carrot?

• After finding out that you were afraid of water, he will unhesitatingly suggest activities like swimming and bathing together. He found it adorable to see your ears fall flat against your head as you trembled slightly. But hey, at least you got to spend time with your lover and get your regular bribe of carrots.

“K-Kaeya…” You whispered in protest when your boyfriend filled the bathtub up with water and dragged you into bathing with him. You were not going to stepping into that torture tub (bathtub) again! “Aww, but you agreed earlier…” Kaeya was trying so hard to hide his smirk as he said that. “Y-you promised me that there was only going to be half a tub of water!” You retorted, face turning slightly pink as you watched your boyfriend who was already starting to strip himself. “Hmm… I might have poured to much water in…” Kaeya murmured, voice filled with pseudo innocence.

“A-ah!” You yelped out as Kaeya dropped you into the bathtub. You grabbed for the man’s shoulders as you felt your ass slip on the bottom of the bathtub. Compared to the freezing coldness of the bath water which sent shivers down your spine, he felt so warm! “Now my little bunny wants me, huh?” Your boyfriend smirked as he pulled you into an embrace. You made a little “hmph!” sound. If it wasn’t for his genius idea, you wouldn’t be here freezing! He pressed a kiss at the base of your right ear, before praising, “You’ve been a good bunny today, how ‘bout carrots for dinner?” Your ears immediately straightened up in excitement as you pouted, “F-fine… You’d better give me more this time!” “Of course babe.”

I'm trying to get better at drawing scugs, but it's hard to learn to draw them when their shapes are so different from anything I draw typically. Do you have any tips?

Got this question a couple of times already, and honestly my process is mostly intuitive ! But here's everything I could think of ig. Slugcats can be draw in a large variety of styles and best advice for drawing in general is experimenting a lot ! Don't chase your "style" and change things up when they get stale

Q: How do you do anatomy? / tips?

For those having a hard time sketching bodies, I suggest drawing stick figures to begin with, then building on from that! Get the hang of where joints should be and fill in the rest with shapes. Try and think in 3d.

This is how I tend to cut up my anatomy. The same goes for my more smol and squishy style. Just much rounder and less complex!

When sketching I usually rough out the head, shoulders, chest and waist since those often lead where the drawing will go and will probably be some of the focusing areas when it's finished.

I have drawn a lot and it was all a learning process, but one thing I think that really helped with my anatomy was drawing real people from photos! Be it reference or perhaps models or an idol you like. Drawing photos in your style is a great way to understand and build up your skill at drawing anatomy!

Do you think natural talent is required to be a great artist?

not at all, im sure that the rate of improvement will vary between people based on whatever it may be, but art is not a talent it’s a skill. like most skills its easier for some than it is for others, but i think if you can teach yourself to have a good mindset about learning and improving then anyone is capable of becoming a good artist.

i see a lot of people who feel stumped and frustrated that they aren’t learning or improving as quickly as other artist/ aren’t as good as artists that have been practicing for longer than them, but like working out it’s hard work and everyone’s experience is going to be different. some people have an easier time understanding shapes, colors, and volumes, those people will have an easier time understanding the. fundamentals ig! your process is never going to be the same as someone else’s so you shouldn’t compare your journey with theirs..

ive seen plenty of people create incredible things from all different kinds of backgrounds, ive seen an artist who is unable to draw with their hands so they’re forced to use their feet/mouth, their disability hasn’t stopped them because they don’t feel defeated to create..

sorry if it’s hard to understand what im saying im sure there’s a better way to word it, but if you’re ever feeling sad that you’re not where you wish you were on your art journey, just remember that as long as you don’t give up you will always improve. those improvements are slow and subtle but they are there, you just won’t notice it until you take the time to look back on your old work.

if you feel like you are stagnating, try doing studies, draw something out of your comfort zone, identify a part that you feel unsatisfied with and work on improving it.

im purely a hobbyist, so im not under any pressure to perfect the things i create for the art industry. i think its really important to prioritize your own enjoyment when creating art, because it should be fun! it should be fun to use your brain and to put out something that you felt in your creative organs.

it always breaks my heart to see people be so broken about their natural ability to create whatever their brain comes up with.. so i feel very passionately about enjoying the process..

i understand thst finding that patience is harder for people who rely on their art for money, so i have no advice for relieving that stress. unfortunately the art market is very over saturated (does not help with all of the ai art bs) and i wish you good luck..

uhh tldr i think that art, like most skills, is something that everyone learns at a different pace. one workout routine is not going to bring everyone the same results at the same time. everyone’s needs and experiences are going to be different . people need to accept that..

hi!!i super love your art and how u draw poses its so dynamic and so full of life!!! so i was wonderin if u could show us ur art process or something like that regarding how u draw poses/anatomy /nf

aahhh T_T this is one of those questions ive always had trouble answering but ill do my best, thank you for your kind comments!!!

so. the reason why i have trouble explaining my process is that i just kind of wing most things and if they look wrong to me ill correct them. however thats not very helpful. so these are the things i keep in mind while doing that

a) line of action

the reason why sometimes my drawings of a character just standing there look stilted is that theres no defined or fluid line of action. you can pull it as tight or as slight as you want, but as long as you can see some sort of flow in the character's pose it helps a little with giving them personality and dynamic. theres lots of ways to give a line of action meaning, so if youre having trouble with a sketch, try drawing a line over it and see if theres any way you can make its movement more natural

b) anatomy time

heres where i struggled for a long time T_T anatomy's hard bro, sometimes its still tough to grasp T_T but what helped me out a ton was gesture drawing exercises! during the pandemic this studio called croquis cafe made its library of gesture drawing exercises public (heres an example, warning for blurred out nudity ig?). unfortunately its not out there anymore, but the idea was looking at a nude model and trying to draw them in 30 second, 1 minute, or 5 minute lapses per pose. this essentially helped me get a grasp of anatomy, proportions, and gesture all at once. theres a lot of cool tutorials on it, and a lot of stock reference photos you could use with a timer, but also pls remember this is a method that worked for me and it may not be the best way for everyone else!

what ill use as guides in my initial sketches are more like rectangles and blobs rather than a skeleton just cuz i find those more helpful for the fluidity of the drawing overall, but feel free to sketch out and use whatever. no worries if you have to change the pose and start over if you dont like what youre seeing, and looking at art and cartoons can help you figuring it out too

keep in mind proportions cuz those can be tricky. like ill generally try to keep the joint of the arm at the level of the waist, and also if you ever have doubts, look at a reference image, trace over it if necessary, hell you can make yourself the reference image if you cant find what youre looking for. its so helpful and its saved me so many times ;w;w;w;
